- 0:03Speaker 1: Coast Eagles fans. All right. The Eagles season is over.
- 0:06Speaker 1: We're not in the finals. And so I'm about to
- 0:09Speaker 1: say something that will make you feel a bit uncomfortable.
- 0:12Speaker 1: But I reckon we should, let's get behind the Dockers.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Come on, let's do it. Yeah, I've said it. I'm
- 0:19Speaker 1: a former West Coast Eagles player. I've got Ben Cousins
- 0:21Speaker 1: on board. He's going to do it as well. Two
- 0:24Speaker 1: former Eagles saying, go Frio. I know you're thinking Barra's
- 0:28Speaker 1: lost his mind. But actually, what has Frio done to us?
- 0:32Speaker 1: That has been so terrible. Existed. Oh, that's what it
- 0:38Speaker 1: is to, you know, die hard. I know, but there's
- 0:41Speaker 1: the Demolition Derby. That was pretty ugly. And some of
- 0:45Speaker 1: their fans are a little bit feral, you'd probably say,
- 0:47Speaker 1: I suppose you'd say. Excuse me? But, and they call
- 0:51Speaker 1: us the Chardonnay set, you know, so, but they haven't
- 0:54Speaker 1: won a flag in 30 years. And I was with
- 0:56Speaker 1: their banner group the other day, their banner crew, and
- 0:58Speaker 1: they were building the banner for tomorrow night. Mm-hmm. And
- 1:01Speaker 1: I've been doing it for 30 years. There was a
- 1:03Speaker 1: lady there, Joy, beautiful lady.
- 1:04Speaker 2: That's a lot of crepe paper.
- 1:06Speaker 1: I love banner ladies. They're so, yeah. I know. And
- 1:08Speaker 1: she started when she was 63. Oh, no way. And
- 1:13Speaker 1: now she's 93. Oh, Joy. So come on. Do it
- 1:16Speaker 1: for Joy. Do it for Joy. Oh, my God. Come on, please.
- 1:21Speaker 2: If for no other reason, do.
- 1:22Speaker 1: It for Joy. It's only a temporary arrangement too. You know,
- 1:26Speaker 1: you don't have to change your Facebook profile to a
- 1:28Speaker 1: purple anchor or some of that. You don't even have
- 1:30Speaker 1: to buy a scarf. Just go, come on, Frio, a
- 1:33Speaker 1: couple of times, then you can have a shower. No,
- 1:35Speaker 1: I think you choose a team and you stick with it.
- 1:37Speaker 1: You have one team and that's it.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Should we organise some protection for you when you leave
- 1:41Speaker 2: the building at about 8.30 this morning?
- 1:44Speaker 1: Let me just... I'll finish my argument because I just
- 1:48Speaker 1: want you to think about this. All right. What is
- 1:49Speaker 1: really the alternative? A Victorian team winning the premiership? Imagine
- 1:54Speaker 1: having to spend October watching the Cup going up and
- 1:57Speaker 1: down Melbourne, you know, parading through Melbourne. It could be
- 1:59Speaker 1: on the Cappuccino Strip. Might be in Brisbane.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Might be in Brisbane.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Yeah, Brisbane or Sydney. But imagine it was down on Fremantle.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Can't you watch the finals with just, you know, as a,
- 2:10Speaker 1: you know. Without a team to cheer for? No, I
- 2:12Speaker 1: think we're all West Australians. I think it's time, a
- 2:16Speaker 1: short-term alliance, a bit like Coke and Pepsi getting together
- 2:19Speaker 1: or McDonald's and Hungry Jack's, whatever.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Batman and Superman. Some people are happy to just sit
- 2:24Speaker 2: there and let football be the winner.
- 2:26Speaker 1: Yeah, well. How's that for a pleasure? Well, how about this?
- 2:29Speaker 1: Tomorrow night, Eagles fans, tomorrow night, just start gently. Start gently.
- 2:34Speaker 1: When the free kick's a goal, just sort of, you
- 2:36Speaker 1: don't have to jump on your couch. Golf clap. Yeah,
- 2:39Speaker 1: or just nod, just go, yeah, that's pretty good. No,
- 2:41Speaker 1: I think they'll throw up in their mouth.
- 2:43Speaker 2: I think there'll be just a lot of Eagles fans
- 2:45Speaker 2: watching Better Homes and Gardens.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Oh. Be quiet. No, they'll be barracking for Hawthorne. Be
- 2:51Speaker 1: quietly proud. You know, West Aussie team has done it. Actually,
- 2:54Speaker 1: we've got Peter Bell here. I asked him. Don't barrack
- 2:56Speaker 1: for Hawthorne out of spite. No, but that's what they do.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Of course they do. Well, you see the stickers. I
- 3:03Speaker 2: follow West Coast and whoever's playing Fremantle. And vice versa.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Well, you do. Are there stickers like that? Yes, of
- 3:10Speaker 1: course there are. That's a disgrace. Of course there are.
- 3:12Speaker 1: I asked Belly about this. He was very profound.
- 3:15Speaker 2: About it too.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Here we go.
- 3:16Speaker 3: It's an interesting one, Barra. I think there'll be an
- 3:18Speaker 3: element of West Coast fans who will get behind the
- 3:21Speaker 3: other West Australian team, and that was probably the same
- 3:23Speaker 3: during West Coast halcyon days. And then there's, I suppose,
- 3:26Speaker 3: some fans at West Coast who there's no way they'd
- 3:29Speaker 3: be supporting Fremantle no matter what. So I imagine there'd
- 3:32Speaker 3: be a fairly healthy percentage that will be getting behind Fremantle, but...
- 3:35Speaker 3: Totally understand and respect if that's not your thing as
- 3:37Speaker 3: a West Coast Eagles fan.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Come on, we're all West Aussies. I heard you little dig,
- 3:41Speaker 1: Halcyon days. I heard that face. Which Eagles fans would
- 3:45Speaker 1: say at least we had them. He did slip one in. Yeah, see,
- 3:49Speaker 1: we've got four flags. They haven't had one in 30 years.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Think of joy. Yeah, let's do it for joy.
- 3:55Speaker 2: I reckon that's the motivation right there.
- 3:57Speaker 1: It's for joy. And all that. purple crepe paper, 30
- 4:01Speaker 1: years of it. And if they go out in straight sets,
- 4:03Speaker 1: then we can go back to not liking them. Do
- 4:05Speaker 1: you know what I mean? No, I'm joking. Let's get
- 4:08Speaker 1: behind it.
- 4:08Speaker 2: You do make a good point. Come on, Eagles fans.
- 4:10Speaker 2: I'm not sure everyone will be on board, but I
- 4:12Speaker 2: think you make a good point.
- 4:13Speaker 1: I don't think they care if you are or not.
- 4:14Speaker 1: People driving off the road.
