- 0:00Speaker 1: I am your host, Gene Stothert. Peyton Heilach, my producer,
- 0:03Speaker 1: is also here. Good morning, Peyton.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Good morning, Gene.
- 0:06Speaker 1: And Peyton is dressed in red today for the big
- 0:09Speaker 1: game tomorrow.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Yep, I already got my Nebraska gear on.
- 0:12Speaker 1: You do. You've changed out of your soccer gear, and
- 0:15Speaker 1: now you are in Go Big Red gear. We're going
- 0:18Speaker 1: to talk about that in a little bit, and the traffic, too.
- 0:22Speaker 1: But we want to hear from you today. We want
- 0:25Speaker 1: to get your feedback. We want to hear your comments, concerns, questions, complaints.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Anything goes. City, state, national, or the world. And we
- 0:33Speaker 1: will have plenty of good guests. Wait until I tell
- 0:35Speaker 1: you who's going to be on next week. We have
- 0:36Speaker 1: some good guests next week, but You will always hear
- 0:39Speaker 1: plenty of opinions from me, but it is your chance
- 0:42Speaker 1: to speak up and sound off. So you can send
- 0:45Speaker 1: your emails to comment at kfab.com. You can call us
- 0:49Speaker 1: at 402-558-1110, or you can leave us a recorded message
- 0:53Speaker 1: on the talkback mic, and we will play it on
- 0:55Speaker 1: the air. We are so happy that you are with
- 0:57Speaker 1: us today. And Peyton was just telling me he needs
- 1:00Speaker 1: a private duty nurse at his house, which I could
- 1:02Speaker 1: do that. because I was a nurse, but he loves
- 1:06Speaker 1: to cook, as I do, and I am growing tomatoes
- 1:10Speaker 1: at my house, my husband and I. I bring them
- 1:12Speaker 1: into Cafe B's studio about every other day, but Peyton,
- 1:16Speaker 1: a knife and a tomato had a run in last night,
- 1:19Speaker 1: and I think the knife won.
- 1:20Speaker 3: Yeah, Jean, it definitely got the better of me, and
- 1:22Speaker 3: we got some new knives. Thank you very much for
- 1:25Speaker 3: that gift from the wedding, and.
- 1:27Speaker 2: They are Blaringly sharp. I mean, very, very sharp.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Like a scalpel, I'm sure.
- 1:33Speaker 3: Like a scalpel, and it got me good, and I
- 1:34Speaker 3: was bleeding all night. Almost cut my finger off.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Well, that is not good.
- 1:39Speaker 2: I almost didn't make it.
- 1:40Speaker 1: You almost didn't make it. Well, you know what? I
- 1:44Speaker 1: could always have 911 come in if you fall out
- 1:46Speaker 1: of your chair this morning. If you fall out of
- 1:49Speaker 1: your chair and can't run that soundboard, I'm not going
- 1:51Speaker 1: to make it either. So just get that in your.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Mind, everybody.
- 1:54Speaker 3: You could find a way to talk the rest of
- 1:56Speaker 3: the hour.
- 1:57Speaker 1: I do not know about that. But anyway, Gene Stothert
- 2:01Speaker 1: and Kevin O'Rourke are growing the best tomatoes in the world.
- 2:04Speaker 1: And so I do bring them in all the time.
- 2:06Speaker 1: But there's a secret to this. If anybody wants to
- 2:09Speaker 1: know my secret, I'll let them know, but we're not
- 2:11Speaker 1: going to talk about my tomatoes today. But the big
- 2:14Speaker 1: game is tomorrow. First game, Saturday, the 5th, 11 a.m.,
- 2:19Speaker 1: the Ohio Bobcats and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. And what is
- 2:25Speaker 1: the big question on everybody's mind beside the game, how
- 2:29Speaker 1: the game is going to turn out, is the traffic.
- 2:32Speaker 1: And so I did try to get a hold– and
- 2:34Speaker 1: I heard back from my good friend who is the
- 2:36Speaker 1: mayor of Lincoln, Mayor Lirian Gaylord Brown, with the city
- 2:41Speaker 1: of Lincoln. And she's very busy because she's preparing her
- 2:45Speaker 1: state of the city address. I know exactly where– how
- 2:48Speaker 1: that goes. But Mayor Lirian is going to be on
- 2:52Speaker 1: my show, the mayor of Lincoln. I know we have
- 2:54Speaker 1: a lot of Lincoln listeners today. She's going to come
- 2:57Speaker 1: to Omaha and be on the show in the studio.
- 2:59Speaker 1: I think that's going to be a really fun interview.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Her and I, we know each other very well. We're
- 3:04Speaker 1: friends politically. We are as different as night and day,
- 3:07Speaker 1: but we still have remained friends. And she's going to
- 3:10Speaker 1: be in the studio around the end of October. She
- 3:13Speaker 1: is preparing for her State of the City address in Lincoln,
- 3:16Speaker 1: and I thought as she comes to the studio, we
- 3:18Speaker 1: can just do a little State of the City address
- 3:20Speaker 1: for the City of Lincoln. I did that a lot
- 3:22Speaker 1: when I was mayor, a little mini State of the Cities,
- 3:25Speaker 1: and I think it's really interesting to hear what's going
- 3:27Speaker 1: on in Lincoln. And so she will be in the studio,
- 3:30Speaker 1: but she did get me in contact with their public
- 3:32Speaker 1: works department. They call it the Lincoln Transportation and Utilities Department.
- 3:37Speaker 1: They were very, very helpful, and I think what people
- 3:39Speaker 1: are really worried is these hordes of people drive down
- 3:42Speaker 1: to Lincoln tomorrow morning for the game. There's a lot
- 3:46Speaker 1: of work going on on the interstate right now, and
- 3:50Speaker 1: people are very concerned about it. It is– well, let
- 3:56Speaker 1: me tell you what I found out, so I think
- 3:58Speaker 1: it's good news for all of us. The NDOT, the
- 4:01Speaker 1: Nebraska Department of Transportation, is meeting with the city of
- 4:05Speaker 1: Lincoln today, but not till 11. So maybe Chris can
- 4:08Speaker 1: get this on his show right when we're going off
- 4:10Speaker 1: the air. And they are talking about the potential of
- 4:14Speaker 1: opening up exit 401 into downtown just tomorrow, just for
- 4:19Speaker 1: the game. So that may happen. They will make that
- 4:23Speaker 1: decision today. So keep in tune to that because if
- 4:27Speaker 1: you are driving down there, that exit 401 into downtown
- 4:30Speaker 1: may be opened up for the game tomorrow, which I
- 4:33Speaker 1: think is probably good. Good news for everybody. Now, the
- 4:37Speaker 1: other thing that I did find out, and I got
- 4:40Speaker 1: a very long press release that the city of Lincoln
- 4:45Speaker 1: did just put out. They sent it to me, too.
- 4:49Speaker 1: And it did say, again, that they are meeting at
- 4:52Speaker 1: 11 a.m. today. They also said there is an I
- 4:55Speaker 1: pronto shuttle bus that people from Omaha can take to
- 4:59Speaker 1: the game if they don't want to drive. And they
- 5:01Speaker 1: said this is the first year they are offering this service.
- 5:05Speaker 1: And that info is in their release too. Peyton, can
- 5:08Speaker 1: we put this press release up for everybody to see?
- 5:11Speaker 1: We could do that later today? Yeah. Okay, we will
- 5:13Speaker 1: do that later today. But it's a pretty long press
- 5:16Speaker 1: release from, like I said, from their Transportation and Utility Department.
- 5:22Speaker 1: But they are saying that they are ready for the
- 5:24Speaker 1: game against Ohio tomorrow. They said both Lincoln Transportation and Utilities,
- 5:29Speaker 1: the Lincoln Police Department, University of Nebraska-Lincoln Police Department, The
- 5:35Speaker 1: Nebraska Department of Transportation, that's the NDOT, the Nebraska State
- 5:40Speaker 1: Patrol are all working together to improve the traffic experience
- 5:44Speaker 1: on game day. And they said the city will provide
- 5:47Speaker 1: traffic control on the Lincoln streets while the NDOT will
- 5:52Speaker 1: help coordinate traffic on I-80 and I-180. and coordination efforts
- 5:58Speaker 1: include traffic planning, pre- and post-game messaging, planned lane and
- 6:03Speaker 1: ramp closures, and incident management. And so they provide quite
- 6:10Speaker 1: a few links to where you can read a bit
- 6:13Speaker 1: more about this for maps and et cetera that you
- 6:18Speaker 1: are interested in and need to know about. They said
- 6:22Speaker 1: some of the important reminders are, are that visitors are
- 6:25Speaker 1: encouraged to plan their routes into Lincoln ahead of time
- 6:28Speaker 1: and give yourself at least an additional 30 minutes because
- 6:31Speaker 1: of all the construction. They did explain what this iPronto is,
- 6:36Speaker 1: and it is a private charter service. It has replaced
- 6:39Speaker 1: the Star Trans Big Red Express Husker game day shuttles
- 6:44Speaker 1: into the campus, and you can find more about that
- 6:48Speaker 1: on iPronto.com, and then it's slash Nebraska Huskers. And you
- 6:53Speaker 1: could get more information about that. Reminding people that University
- 6:58Speaker 1: of Nebraska enforces that clear bag policy. That's on there too.
- 7:02Speaker 1: And so there's a lot of good information. It does
- 7:05Speaker 1: say here's some route options into Lincoln. They do provide
- 7:10Speaker 1: a map, but I'm just going to read what they
- 7:13Speaker 1: are suggesting right now, and then we will post this.
- 7:16Speaker 1: And it says, visitors from Omaha or from the Northeast
- 7:20Speaker 1: have four exit options off of I-80. They include the
- 7:25Speaker 1: Lincoln Airport exit, which is 399, the 27th Street exit,
- 7:28Speaker 1: which is 403, the 56th Street exit, which is 405,
- 7:30Speaker 1: and Waverly, which is 409. The Lincoln Airport exit, which
- 7:39Speaker 1: is 399, and the 27th Street exit, 403, have no
- 7:43Speaker 1: construction impacting these routes. And then they go on to
- 7:47Speaker 1: talk about visitors from other parts of the state. And
- 7:50Speaker 1: so I think this is really good information. It's really detailed,
- 7:54Speaker 1: and I don't want to read it all on the air.
- 7:56Speaker 1: But we will get this posted so you could look
- 7:59Speaker 1: at it. I'll let Chris Baker get it, and maybe
- 8:02Speaker 1: he could talk about it repeated on his show too today.
- 8:06Speaker 1: And then hopefully we will be able on the Baker
- 8:09Speaker 1: show to talk about what the NDOT decided about exit
- 8:12Speaker 1: 401 into downtown.
- 8:14Speaker 2: That's very good information, Jean.
- 8:15Speaker 3: We'll definitely get that posted on kfab.com and probably– it
- 8:19Speaker 3: wouldn't be a bad idea for the Instagram and the
- 8:21Speaker 3: Facebook pages as well. And I mean, the message there
- 8:25Speaker 3: is leave 30 to 60 minutes earlier than you normally do.
- 8:29Speaker 3: The only thing is with this 11 a.m. kickoff, I
- 8:32Speaker 3: know people personally that get up six, 7 a.m. drive
- 8:36Speaker 3: down to Lincoln right away and, and, and get ready
- 8:40Speaker 3: for that early kickoff at 11 a.m.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Sure they do. That's part of the experience.
- 8:44Speaker 2: It's part of the experience.
- 8:45Speaker 3: So I know it's an early kickoff 11 a.m. But, uh, uh,
- 8:48Speaker 3: get up, get out there early so you don't have
- 8:50Speaker 3: to deal with it.
- 8:50Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 8:51Speaker 1: And like I said, this press release that we will
- 8:54Speaker 1: post from the city of Lincoln is so detailed. It
- 8:59Speaker 1: even gives all the areas that they suggest that you
- 9:02Speaker 1: can park and how much the parking costs in each
- 9:05Speaker 1: one of those areas. They give you a lot of
- 9:08Speaker 1: other information on this, this press release. And so anyway,
- 9:13Speaker 1: we will make sure that we get that up. But
- 9:15Speaker 1: I think it's, It's good for us all to know.
- 9:17Speaker 1: That's the big question I think on everybody's mind is, oh,
- 9:20Speaker 1: my gosh, there's that construction down there. So I just
- 9:25Speaker 1: did get a message here I was going to look
- 9:28Speaker 1: at real quick. And it said that, yeah, this comes
- 9:31Speaker 1: from Hawkins Construction, one of my favorite construction companies. But
- 9:36Speaker 1: it says, as we understand it, the traffic– this is
- 9:38Speaker 1: not a project that Hawkins is doing because they do
- 9:40Speaker 1: a lot of our interstates. They are not involved in
- 9:43Speaker 1: this project. But the traffic problem is due to multiple
- 9:46Speaker 1: local road closures immediately around the stadium compounded by the
- 9:52Speaker 1: NDOT's bridge work on I-80, which is severely limiting the
- 9:57Speaker 1: traffic flow. So there's multiple. road closures around the stadium
- 10:03Speaker 1: along with the work on I-80. It says Hawkins is
- 10:07Speaker 1: not doing that work, but there are a lot of
- 10:11Speaker 1: good alternate routes, which we just talked about.
- 10:13Speaker 3: Yeah, they already got a lot of construction going on
- 10:15Speaker 3: near the stadium. But then they also have a choke
- 10:18Speaker 3: point getting off the interstate, which will just make their
- 10:22Speaker 3: two different things.
- 10:24Speaker 1: It sounds like it's going to be a little dicey.
- 10:25Speaker 3: If you leave early enough, you'll figure it out, and
- 10:27Speaker 3: it sounds like there will be plenty of manpower there
- 10:30Speaker 3: to guide you and get you in safely.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Absolutely, and that's what we want, and that's what they
- 10:34Speaker 1: want down in Lincoln too. And so anyway, that's our
- 10:38Speaker 1: news about that. If you have any questions or comments
- 10:40Speaker 1: or want to talk about that, sure. Call us and
- 10:44Speaker 1: email us and we'll continue getting information out there to you. Now,
- 10:49Speaker 1: another thing I want to talk about, completely different subject,
- 10:52Speaker 1: cake pops. If you were listening to Scott Voorhees, there
- 10:57Speaker 1: was a guest on this morning that was selling cake
- 10:59Speaker 1: pops out of her home. This was about on 188
- 11:03Speaker 1: that was in Sarpy, South of Harrison in Cottonwood, I believe.
- 11:08Speaker 1: You got it. She was selling cake pops. pops, cake
- 11:13Speaker 1: pops out of her home. The HOA did tell her
- 11:17Speaker 1: that she couldn't do that. It violated their bylaws or
- 11:21Speaker 1: violated their covenants. So I did a little research this
- 11:26Speaker 1: morning and talked to the law department. And I asked
- 11:30Speaker 1: the questions about, are HOAs governed by state or city law?
- 11:36Speaker 1: And do they have to be registered with the city?
- 11:40Speaker 1: And if they create their own bylaws and covenants, are
- 11:43Speaker 1: those bylaws punishable by law? And I think that's what
- 11:47Speaker 1: the question is going to end up being. So the
- 11:51Speaker 1: answer was not really either. This is the facts here
- 11:56Speaker 1: from the City of Omaha Law Department. But they said
- 12:00Speaker 1: Nebraska does not have an HOA statute and they do
- 12:05Speaker 1: not have to register with the City of Omaha. So
- 12:09Speaker 1: there you go with that. They might have to register
- 12:12Speaker 1: with the state of Nebraska, not the city, but the state,
- 12:16Speaker 1: if they are incorporated or if they are a nonprofit,
- 12:20Speaker 1: but not if they're just a simple HOA. Planning Department
- 12:24Speaker 1: in the city of Omaha, they have a voluntary neighborhood
- 12:27Speaker 1: association directory, but that doesn't necessarily include all of the HOAs.
- 12:33Speaker 1: And I know that from experience. They said that HOAs
- 12:36Speaker 1: do create their own bylaws and covenants, which the homeowners
- 12:40Speaker 1: sign on to and they agree to, but there is
- 12:44Speaker 1: no criminal violation. But it is a contract just between
- 12:48Speaker 1: the homeowner and the HOA. And so if you have
- 12:51Speaker 1: an HOA and you have signed on to it, you
- 12:54Speaker 1: are saying that you agree to their bylaws and their covenants,
- 12:58Speaker 1: but there is no criminal violation if you violate those covenants.
- 13:04Speaker 1: And it says that– it goes on to say that
- 13:06Speaker 1: the covenants do get filed, however, with your deed in
- 13:11Speaker 1: the Register of Deeds office with the city of Omaha.
- 13:14Speaker 1: So when you file your deed and you register with
- 13:17Speaker 1: the city of Omaha, those covenants get filed with them,
- 13:20Speaker 1: but it's not criminally punishable whatsoever. by law, by the
- 13:24Speaker 1: law department or by the city of Omaha. I think
- 13:26Speaker 1: that's good information to have because they talked about this
- 13:30Speaker 1: HOA issue with the cake pops. And then it got
- 13:35Speaker 1: into more of a bigger discussion. Well, what about the
- 13:37Speaker 1: kids in their lemonade stands? Is that a violation? Or
- 13:41Speaker 1: wonder if the kids were selling cake pops. Is that
- 13:45Speaker 1: a violation? Or what about garage sales? Well, you know,
- 13:48Speaker 1: some HOAs won't, they say that you can't do a
- 13:51Speaker 1: garage sale. They will say that. Or you can't run
- 13:53Speaker 1: a business out of your home. I guess that's what
- 13:56Speaker 1: they are accusing this woman with her cake pops is
- 13:59Speaker 1: violating the HOA that says you can't run a business
- 14:02Speaker 1: from your home. You know what my kids used to do?
- 14:06Speaker 1: My kids are little entrepreneurs. So we live on Oak
- 14:09Speaker 1: Hills Golf Course. And when my kids were little, they
- 14:12Speaker 1: would get empty egg cartons and they would fill them
- 14:15Speaker 1: with 12 golf balls. And they would sit out in
- 14:18Speaker 1: my backyard and they would try to sell cartons of
- 14:21Speaker 1: golf balls. Aren't they little entrepreneurs?
- 14:23Speaker 3: If I came past your kids selling golf balls, they
- 14:27Speaker 3: would definitely get some business from me.
- 14:30Speaker 2: I would need some.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Some of them are brand-new golf balls too, and they
- 14:34Speaker 1: would wipe them off. They would make sure they were
- 14:36Speaker 1: all clean, and they would have all of these egg
- 14:39Speaker 1: cartons with a dozen golf balls in it. But we
- 14:41Speaker 1: used to get golf balls in our yard all of
- 14:44Speaker 1: the time. So anyway– So that's the issue about HOAs
- 14:50Speaker 1: and about what the law is. But I think that
- 14:54Speaker 1: those that are on the HOAs that create these bylaws,
- 14:58Speaker 1: it does seem that sometimes things get stretched to the
- 15:02Speaker 1: nth degree. I know when I put a fence around
- 15:06Speaker 1: my backyard because I have two dogs. I had two dogs.
- 15:09Speaker 1: I have one dog now. And I had to get
- 15:11Speaker 1: approval of the type of fence that I put around
- 15:14Speaker 1: my backyard, not only from the HOA, but from the
- 15:18Speaker 1: golf course too, from the Oak Hills. So I had
- 15:23Speaker 1: to get approval from both. Now, I do know a
- 15:26Speaker 1: lot of HOAs, the main thing they are concerned with,
- 15:29Speaker 1: in my opinion, is the color of the house, the
- 15:31Speaker 1: color of the roof, parking a big RV out in
- 15:34Speaker 1: the street or having your yard full of trucks, things
- 15:38Speaker 1: like that. You know, I think my HOA says something
- 15:42Speaker 1: like it should be natural looking colors or paint or
- 15:45Speaker 1: whatever it is. I remember it out at Linden Estates.
- 15:48Speaker 1: Right when you drive into Linden Estates off of 144th Street,
- 15:52Speaker 1: there is a house right when you drive in that
- 15:54Speaker 1: main entrance over to the left that is painted pink
- 15:58Speaker 1: and purple on the outside. And I remember that was
- 16:02Speaker 1: an issue that was challenged by the HOA because they
- 16:05Speaker 1: didn't want a pink and purple house there. Actually, it's
- 16:09Speaker 1: really kind of pretty, but it doesn't– it's all done
- 16:11Speaker 1: really fancy, fancy, but it doesn't really go in the
- 16:16Speaker 1: general look of the neighborhood. And that's a pretty nice
- 16:20Speaker 1: neighborhood out there.
- 16:21Speaker 2: I hear you, Jean.
- 16:21Speaker 3: Let's get in a phone call here, 402-558-1110. Bruce, you
- 16:23Speaker 3: are now live with Jean Stothert here on 1110 KFAB.
- 16:30Speaker 4: Well, thank you for taking my call. And, Gene, I
- 16:32Speaker 4: thought you did a wonderful job as mayor of the
- 16:35Speaker 4: 12 years you were in office. So thank you for
- 16:37Speaker 4: your service.
- 16:37Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 16:39Speaker 4: I'm calling because I have been involved in the city
- 16:43Speaker 4: indirectly through some private partnerships and building some parks. In
- 16:48Speaker 4: Seymour Smith in 2009, I built an area called All
- 16:52Speaker 4: Play Complex, a park for children with special needs. And
- 16:56Speaker 4: we have a playground, a water park, and a couple
- 16:58Speaker 4: of fields. And then in 2016, up in Benson Park,
- 17:02Speaker 4: I helped the city raise money and build an area
- 17:06Speaker 4: that you helped dedicate. It's called All Play, and it
- 17:10Speaker 4: has a little water park and a playground and a
- 17:12Speaker 4: fishing pier. The city has degraded its service to those
- 17:19Speaker 4: two specific areas and the remaining parks in the city
- 17:22Speaker 4: by the use of these portable toilets. And the number
- 17:27Speaker 4: of the portable toilets available in the various areas, particularly
- 17:31Speaker 4: the two that I work with, but I know in
- 17:33Speaker 4: other parks also, and the frequency of the cleaning. And lastly,
- 17:38Speaker 4: the installation of those portable toilets and their removal. They've
- 17:42Speaker 4: been installing those toilets in mid-May almost to 1st of
- 17:46Speaker 4: June when the parks become active the 1st of April.
- 17:50Speaker 4: They pull them out in September when the parks continue
- 17:53Speaker 4: to be used through late October and The number of
- 17:57Speaker 4: the toilets are minimal. They're always in disrepair or unkept
- 18:03Speaker 4: and unclean because their frequency of the cleanings is inadequate.
- 18:07Speaker 4: And it was a policy that kind of degraded over
- 18:10Speaker 4: the years. And last year, it really took a downturn.
- 18:12Speaker 4: And this year, it's even worse. Can you tell me
- 18:15Speaker 4: a little bit about the decision-making process and the policy
- 18:19Speaker 4: through Public Park's of how they want to manage that
- 18:22Speaker 4: and how they should manage that and what they should
- 18:25Speaker 4: do that they're not. Can you speak to that.
- 18:27Speaker 5: A little bit?
- 18:27Speaker 1: I can speak to that very little because I will
- 18:30Speaker 1: go back to what I have been complaining about for
- 18:34Speaker 1: over a year now, and the city of Omaha does
- 18:37Speaker 1: not have a parks director. The parks director was let
- 18:40Speaker 1: go by Mayor Ewing after Mayor Ewing's first month in office.
- 18:45Speaker 1: Matt Kalcevich was the parks director before that. It was
- 18:48Speaker 1: Brooke Bench. They both did a fantastic job. And if
- 18:51Speaker 1: I would ever hear anything like you were telling me,
- 18:53Speaker 1: I would go to them right away and I would say,
- 18:56Speaker 1: get this fixed and do it right away. But there's
- 19:00Speaker 1: really nobody to go to now. There's an interim. There
- 19:04Speaker 1: was an interim parks director. Now they have an interim
- 19:07Speaker 1: parks director that is an economic developer, and I just
- 19:12Speaker 1: don't know why. I think they're on their third national
- 19:17Speaker 1: search for a parks director now. And so it's really
- 19:20Speaker 1: hard to deal with what the policy is now and
- 19:25Speaker 1: what it will be or what it's changed to be,
- 19:27Speaker 1: why it's not being maintained, why those things aren't being
- 19:30Speaker 1: kept clean. There should be a policy for all of that.
- 19:35Speaker 1: But without a director, it's hard to know what direction
- 19:39Speaker 1: they're going. And I hate hearing stuff like this because
- 19:43Speaker 1: especially someone like you that has put a lot of
- 19:45Speaker 1: time and effort in raising money and creating something for
- 19:49Speaker 1: all of us. to use. And then using these portable
- 19:53Speaker 1: porta-potties and not keeping them clean and not keeping them
- 19:57Speaker 1: maintained is not good news. I mean it just looks terrible.
- 20:02Speaker 1: I just can't tell you what their plan is to
- 20:05Speaker 1: do for that right now. And I know– I remember
- 20:09Speaker 1: up in Benton when we dedicated that and then– Right
- 20:12Speaker 1: after that, if you recall, the fountain was a big
- 20:15Speaker 1: deal too in Benson. And then right after that, we
- 20:18Speaker 1: had trouble with the splash ground in the water park.
- 20:20Speaker 1: We had trouble with the fountain. They've had trouble up
- 20:23Speaker 1: in that area. But if it's not been fixed yet,
- 20:26Speaker 1: because I haven't been up to Benson Park in a while,
- 20:29Speaker 1: that's really concerning to me. The only thing that I
- 20:33Speaker 1: would really recommend you do is one of two things.
- 20:37Speaker 1: Number one, I would call the mayor's hotline. And say,
- 20:40Speaker 1: I want to complain about this. And number two, I
- 20:42Speaker 1: would contact the city council member in that area. And
- 20:47Speaker 1: that would be City Council District 2. So that would
- 20:52Speaker 1: be– I'm blanking right now. I'm going to come right
- 20:54Speaker 1: back with it. That's– LaVanya Goodwin. I knew I'd think
- 21:00Speaker 1: of it in a minute. My brain's not working well
- 21:02Speaker 1: this morning. LaVanya Goodwin is the council member for that area.
- 21:05Speaker 1: I would definitely contact her and I would contact the hotline,
- 21:09Speaker 1: mayor's hotline, which is 444-5555. I would do both of
- 21:13Speaker 1: those things right now. But the real problem is, is
- 21:16Speaker 1: they do not have a leader in the parks department
- 21:18Speaker 1: right now.
- 21:19Speaker 3: Gene Stothert and the KFAB comment line will return after
- 21:22Speaker 3: Fox News. And now breaking is in the Lindsey Clancy trial.
- 21:27Speaker 1: A mistrial.
- 21:28Speaker 2: The judge has declared a mistrial.
- 21:31Speaker 1: Well, we are back and we were, Peyton and I
- 21:34Speaker 1: are just watching the breaking news about the Lindsey Clancy trial.
- 21:39Speaker 1: The jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict in the
- 21:42Speaker 1: murder trial. The judge is asking for, or the defense
- 21:46Speaker 1: attorney is asking for one hour. I guess he's requesting
- 21:52Speaker 1: for some sort of a stay. The judge has not
- 21:56Speaker 1: yet dismissed the jury or has not yet called the
- 22:00Speaker 1: jury back into the courtroom. Very interesting case here. Obviously,
- 22:06Speaker 1: if they declare a mistrial, it's a hung jury. The
- 22:10Speaker 1: prosecutor will want to know the jury count. We've talked
- 22:14Speaker 1: about this before. As of yet, I think we're speculating
- 22:18Speaker 1: on what the jury count was, but– If it's like 11-1,
- 22:21Speaker 1: they might retry it or dismiss it. It's just hard
- 22:25Speaker 1: to tell which way the jury was deadlocked. And so
- 22:29Speaker 1: the defense attorney is wanting to get rid of the
- 22:32Speaker 1: one juror that was the holdout, whichever direction they were
- 22:36Speaker 1: holding out, and replace it. And so I guess we'll
- 22:40Speaker 1: have to wait for the next hour to see what
- 22:42Speaker 1: the defense attorney does. Quite an interesting case going on here.
- 22:47Speaker 1: So we will watch that for sure. Peyton, yesterday I
- 22:52Speaker 1: was given a couple emails and a couple screenshots of
- 22:58Speaker 1: a very large sign that was on 84th and Center
- 23:02Speaker 1: on the bridge right across from Westside Middle School. And
- 23:06Speaker 1: what– first of all, which was disturbing to me, is
- 23:09Speaker 1: it had an upside-down American flag. And then I'm going
- 23:13Speaker 1: to say this very carefully because we are on the air.
- 23:16Speaker 1: It said Trump is a limp dictator. Only the word
- 23:19Speaker 1: dictator was separated. So you all know what I mean.
- 23:24Speaker 2: It was creatively done.
- 23:26Speaker 1: Creatively done.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Yes, it was.
- 23:29Speaker 1: And so I did contact the city council member in
- 23:34Speaker 1: that area, and I also contacted the state legislator in
- 23:38Speaker 1: that area so that they were aware. But I also
- 23:40Speaker 1: did contact Public Works, which I still know how to do,
- 23:45Speaker 1: and they were heading out there immediately.
- 23:48Speaker 4: Okay.
- 23:48Speaker 1: And so hopefully that is down. But how disturbing is that?
- 23:55Speaker 1: That right there by the middle school, hanging over Center
- 23:59Speaker 1: Street there. And when did they do this is the thing.
- 24:03Speaker 1: It seems like there's always traffic going down Center Street
- 24:06Speaker 1: in that area. And didn't somebody see somebody hanging over
- 24:09Speaker 1: the bridge trying to hang this stuff up?
- 24:12Speaker 3: I guess. I saw this photo during the Chris Baker show.
- 24:18Speaker 3: It was posted during the Chris Baker show, and then
- 24:20Speaker 3: I didn't see it on my social medias until after
- 24:23Speaker 3: the show. It was visible if you were driving eastbound
- 24:27Speaker 3: on center. And I just find it very concerning because
- 24:30Speaker 3: that overpass or that walking overpass is designed for those
- 24:34Speaker 3: middle school students to cross center in the safest possible way.
- 24:38Speaker 1: Yes, absolutely it was.
- 24:40Speaker 3: And this reminds me, Gene, of a poster or a
- 24:44Speaker 3: sign that was taken down a few months ago back
- 24:48Speaker 3: in March. And this was on I-80 on the 96th
- 24:53Speaker 3: Street overpass. This is a road bridge, you could call it.
- 24:57Speaker 3: And it said, America first. And the way that it
- 25:00Speaker 3: was told in the media by Channel 3 KMTV, quote,
- 25:08Speaker 3: a white nationalist banner connected to Patriot Front was found
- 25:11Speaker 3: hanging over Interstate I-80. A white nationalist banner connected to
- 25:15Speaker 3: Patriot Front. And I said America first. Ultimately, you're not
- 25:18Speaker 3: allowed to hang these signs no matter what it says.
- 25:20Speaker 1: No, you are not.
- 25:21Speaker 3: It could say Go Big Red and it would still
- 25:24Speaker 3: be taken down. You're not allowed to hang those signs up.
- 25:27Speaker 1: No, not at all. But like I said, I wonder
- 25:29Speaker 1: when they were taking the time to hang it up,
- 25:32Speaker 1: didn't somebody see this going on? But good lord.
- 25:36Speaker 2: The upside down American flag is really what did it
- 25:38Speaker 2: for me too.
- 25:38Speaker 1: Yeah, me too. So– and we have been talking on
- 25:42Speaker 1: this show so much about the upcoming elections. But once
- 25:45Speaker 1: again– Boy, is it important to pay attention. Pay attention
- 25:49Speaker 1: to these commercials. Don't believe everything that you're hearing. Our
- 25:53Speaker 1: job as voters is to make sure we understand who
- 25:58Speaker 1: is running and what they stand for and what they're
- 26:00Speaker 1: going to do and how they're going to do it.
- 26:02Speaker 1: That's another thing that during campaigns, people can, many candidates
- 26:06Speaker 1: will say, I'm going to lower your taxes. I'm going
- 26:09Speaker 1: to make your cost of living better. I'm going to
- 26:11Speaker 1: make your city safer, and I'm going to get all
- 26:13Speaker 1: your streets paved, and there's not going to be any
- 26:16Speaker 1: more potholes, etc., But then your question should be fine.
- 26:21Speaker 1: You're telling me what you want to do now, but
- 26:24Speaker 1: now you need to tell me how you're going to
- 26:25Speaker 1: do it because a lot of times candidates will also
- 26:29Speaker 1: give you a lot of empty promises when they are
- 26:32Speaker 1: running for an elected office. I will go back to
- 26:36Speaker 1: my last race when Mike McDonald's big thing was stopping
- 26:40Speaker 1: the streetcar race. which we all know he had no
- 26:44Speaker 1: way to stop the streetcar, but that's what he was
- 26:47Speaker 1: saying so that you would vote for him. And so
- 26:50Speaker 1: keep these things in mind, too. Go to their debates.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Get on their webpages and ask them questions. See how
- 26:58Speaker 1: they answer these things because we need to be informed voters,
- 27:02Speaker 1: number one. And then number two. It's our responsibility to
- 27:06Speaker 1: get out there and vote. When the primary happened here
- 27:10Speaker 1: in May, the voter turnout in Douglas County was 26%.
- 27:15Speaker 1: And this is way too important for the future of
- 27:18Speaker 1: our country for us not to be really involved, really informed,
- 27:22Speaker 1: and also to get out there and vote. So know
- 27:25Speaker 1: what these candidates are saying. I know yesterday I talked
- 27:28Speaker 1: a lot about Denise Powell's new commercial accusing Brinker of
- 27:32Speaker 1: about four or five different things. Brinker Harding, her opponent,
- 27:36Speaker 1: and every one of them she is accusing him of
- 27:39Speaker 1: is not true. And so, you know, that Brinker Harding
- 27:42Speaker 1: will do everything Donald Trump tells him to do. How
- 27:46Speaker 1: does she, does she see into the future here? I
- 27:48Speaker 1: don't know how she is actually getting by with saying
- 27:51Speaker 1: these things or saying that Brinker Harding wants higher health
- 27:54Speaker 1: care premiums or Brinker Harding loves war. These things are
- 27:58Speaker 1: just made up to catch your attention to get a vote.
- 28:01Speaker 1: So politics is really getting to be a blood sport.
- 28:04Speaker 1: There's no doubt about that.
- 28:06Speaker 2: You know what I think can also be a blood
- 28:07Speaker 2: sport is HOA.
- 28:10Speaker 1: HOAs can be a blood sport too, yes.
- 28:12Speaker 3: And Brett here has a comment about HOA and his experience. Brett,
- 28:16Speaker 3: thank you for the call and hanging on. You are
- 28:18Speaker 3: live with Gene Stothert here on KFAB.
- 28:20Speaker 1: Good morning.
- 28:23Speaker 5: Yeah, I just wanted to call. On coincidence, I just
- 28:25Speaker 5: got my letter from HOA yesterday regarding my property. And
- 28:32Speaker 5: some of these HOAs really get, I think, out of line.
- 28:35Speaker 5: and push their power, I've been receiving letters from them
- 28:39Speaker 5: for 13 years. And they filed to take me to court,
- 28:45Speaker 5: in which we paid attorneys for two years, and then
- 28:47Speaker 5: the day before they dropped the court case because they
- 28:51Speaker 5: were going to lose. And they went as far as
- 28:55Speaker 5: to call the police on us several times, and the
- 29:00Speaker 5: police thought it was ridiculous. They finally came to us,
- 29:03Speaker 5: the police did, and said, our boss is tired of
- 29:06Speaker 5: your HOA calling, can you do something about them?
- 29:10Speaker 1: Can I ask you what they were sending you letters about?
- 29:15Speaker 1: What specific issue did they have with your property?
- 29:17Speaker 5: It was a trailer that I used for work that
- 29:21Speaker 5: sits in my driveway.
- 29:22Speaker 1: Okay.
- 29:23Speaker 5: But it's gone during the day, it's there at night.
- 29:27Speaker 5: But the real kicker is, once we got into, we
- 29:31Speaker 5: let them take us to court, and... they have no
- 29:34Speaker 5: covenants to enforce. They expired decades ago. They never renewed them,
- 29:42Speaker 5: and now they're kind of in a bind.
- 29:44Speaker 1: Well, I could see how they would be in a bind.
- 29:47Speaker 5: Well, to this day, they're still enforcing and sending out
- 29:49Speaker 5: letters to residents in the neighborhood and enforcing covenants that
- 29:54Speaker 5: they don't have. And I actually have a letter from
- 29:58Speaker 5: their attorney saying, to them stating, you can't call these covenants.
- 30:03Speaker 5: You don't have any covenants.
- 30:06Speaker 1: Interesting.
- 30:06Speaker 5: Name it something else or do something else. But still,
- 30:10Speaker 5: I get a file full of letters. I spent thousands
- 30:13Speaker 5: of dollars on attorneys. They knew they'd lose, so they
- 30:16Speaker 5: dropped it the day before and didn't even tell us
- 30:18Speaker 5: about it.
- 30:20Speaker 1: Interesting. Thanks for sharing that with us. And, you know,
- 30:24Speaker 1: like I said before, they do create their own bylaws
- 30:28Speaker 1: and covenants. Some do. I mean, obviously, yours has expired,
- 30:33Speaker 1: which usually they will require a homeowner to sign on
- 30:37Speaker 1: to or agree to. But keep in mind this. I
- 30:40Speaker 1: know you said that they have taken you to court,
- 30:42Speaker 1: but there is no criminal record. violation. It's a contract
- 30:46Speaker 1: between you, the homeowner, and the HOA, but it does
- 30:50Speaker 1: get filed with your deed in the registered deeds office.
- 30:54Speaker 1: So it's interesting what some of these HOAs do. I
- 30:58Speaker 1: know in my neighborhood, I think the only thing that
- 31:00Speaker 1: I can really think of is that, well, one is
- 31:03Speaker 1: they don't like trailers or trucks in driveways. They don't
- 31:08Speaker 1: like cars parked out on the street. I know they have...
- 31:13Speaker 1: They suggest what color your house is painted. So it
- 31:17Speaker 1: could be natural colors, browns, grays, whatever. If you replace
- 31:21Speaker 1: your roof, they have covenants on what kind of roof.
- 31:24Speaker 1: But they're pretty standard, I think, covenants. Usually each HOA does,
- 31:29Speaker 1: when they create their bylaws, though, they do have an
- 31:31Speaker 1: attorney go through those. But sorry you've been in all
- 31:35Speaker 1: of these issues with them.
- 31:38Speaker 3: I'm yet to buy my first house, Jean, but man,
- 31:41Speaker 3: oh man, these HOAs sound like a lot of work.
- 31:43Speaker 2: Maybe I'm going to pass on the HOA neighborhood.
- 31:46Speaker 1: Well, you know what? A lot of them are meant
- 31:49Speaker 1: to do good. They take care of any common ground
- 31:52Speaker 1: that you have. Say if you have common ground that
- 31:55Speaker 1: needs mowing or or they do any beautification with flowers
- 31:59Speaker 1: or anything like that. And I think that some of
- 32:03Speaker 1: their covenants about, say, the color of your house or whatever,
- 32:07Speaker 1: that's okay. I know there was an issue with my
- 32:10Speaker 1: HOA when we first moved in that one of the
- 32:14Speaker 1: homeowners or one of the landowners was going to build
- 32:18Speaker 1: a house in my neighborhood and it was a very
- 32:22Speaker 1: beautiful design it was a like a frank lloyd wright
- 32:27Speaker 1: type of design if you know what that means um
- 32:31Speaker 1: but um It has a lot of wood on it.
- 32:33Speaker 1: It doesn't have a whole lot of brick on it.
- 32:35Speaker 1: But anyway, the homeowners association did not want that house
- 32:40Speaker 1: built in the neighborhood. And I remember that was a
- 32:42Speaker 1: big squabble for quite a while. And the landowner that
- 32:46Speaker 1: built the house actually won that one. And it's beautiful.
- 32:49Speaker 1: I mean, it's a beautiful house. But there was a
- 32:50Speaker 1: big fight over it because they wanted more traditional looking houses.
- 32:54Speaker 1: But then you think, as you said, Peyton, if you
- 32:57Speaker 1: went out and you spent a gazillion dollars on land
- 33:00Speaker 1: and you want to spend a lot more on building
- 33:03Speaker 1: a house of your dreams, it's kind of hard to say, well,
- 33:07Speaker 1: now you've been turned down because they don't like the
- 33:10Speaker 1: looks of what your design is. I know you would
- 33:13Speaker 1: want it to fit into the neighborhood. I mean you
- 33:15Speaker 1: don't want something totally crazy. But at the same time,
- 33:20Speaker 1: it's your property and private property owners do have rights.
- 33:25Speaker 1: And you got to keep that in mind, too.
- 33:27Speaker 2: Yes, they do.
- 33:28Speaker 3: One segment left to go here on the KFAB Comment
- 33:30Speaker 3: Line with your host, Gene Stothert.
- 33:32Speaker 2: My name is Peyton Highlock. Much more to come ahead.
- 33:35Speaker 3: Live from the Gary Saddlemeyer studio here at Top 10.
- 33:39Speaker 2: The wonderful Dundee building.
- 33:41Speaker 1: Didn't Gary used to call it the penthouse studio?
- 33:43Speaker 2: The penthouse studio.
- 33:45Speaker 1: If you all would see this studio, it's far from that,
- 33:48Speaker 1: but I'm glad Gary calls it the penthouse. Peyton and
- 33:51Speaker 1: I are in the Gary Sattelmeyer studio sitting right here
- 33:55Speaker 1: staring at each other every morning. So this is so
- 33:58Speaker 1: much fun being on this show, though. There's seven stations
- 34:01Speaker 1: that broadcast out of this building. And I tell you,
- 34:04Speaker 1: you come in here every morning. Everybody's in a good mood.
- 34:07Speaker 1: Everybody's smiling. Everybody's talking to each other. It's a great atmosphere.
- 34:11Speaker 2: It really is.
- 34:12Speaker 1: I was in this studio so many times as mayor.
- 34:15Speaker 1: And if you know you're going to be grilled by
- 34:17Speaker 1: Jim Rose on something, it's kind of scary coming in here. But,
- 34:20Speaker 1: you know, I got used to it. And it's a
- 34:22Speaker 1: great opportunity, too, to get information out. And speaking of that,
- 34:27Speaker 1: I have we are going to be all of us.
- 34:30Speaker 1: Scott Voorhees has given us pretty much the day off
- 34:33Speaker 1: on Monday because it is Labor Day. So I think
- 34:36Speaker 1: we will have fill-ins of Glenn Beck and all those
- 34:39Speaker 1: other famous people. You'll probably want to hear Glenn Beck
- 34:43Speaker 1: more than you want to hear Gene Stoddard, but whatever.
- 34:46Speaker 1: But anyway, Peyton and I will be back Tuesday, and
- 34:48Speaker 1: on Tuesday in the studio, we are going to have
- 34:50Speaker 1: Brett Lindstrom, and we're going to talk to him about
- 34:53Speaker 1: running for governor for America First Party. And Wednesday, we're
- 34:56Speaker 1: going to have Governor Jim Pellin. And so we're going
- 34:59Speaker 1: to try to fill up the rest of the week
- 35:01Speaker 1: with guests too. But I think that'll be an interesting
- 35:04Speaker 1: conversation with both of them because it's not long and
- 35:09Speaker 1: this election is going to be on top of us. Also,
- 35:14Speaker 1: I wanted to remind you once again that with Clark Ross,
- 35:18Speaker 1: who is a dear friend and who has started up
- 35:22Speaker 1: the group that is really a group of business owners downtown.
- 35:27Speaker 1: There's probably... of 120 or so business owners that have
- 35:31Speaker 1: joined the Street Car Impact Alliance, the SIA. And they
- 35:36Speaker 1: are having an event. Now, this is during the Husker game,
- 35:39Speaker 1: but I want to tell you about it again. It'll
- 35:42Speaker 1: be this Saturday, tomorrow, September 5th, 16th Street from Harney
- 35:48Speaker 1: to Farnham from 2 to 8 p.m. Free to attend, food, drinks,
- 35:53Speaker 1: small businesses owned, Opera Omaha, Omaha Symphony, Backline Comedy Club
- 35:57Speaker 1: will all be there. Balloon animals for the kids, face painting,
- 36:01Speaker 1: all sorts of stuff. Free parking on the meters around
- 36:04Speaker 1: the event. Garage parking downtown will be a dollar. And
- 36:09Speaker 1: so I just want to remind you that these businesses
- 36:12Speaker 1: have gotten together and are trying to say it's still
- 36:15Speaker 1: okay and safe and good to come downtown Omaha. And
- 36:19Speaker 1: then you can all look at those streetcar rails that
- 36:22Speaker 1: are going in downtown that when that construction is over,
- 36:26Speaker 1: it's going to be grand.
- 36:28Speaker 3: Absolutely. And in regards to Brent Lindstrom coming in on
- 36:33Speaker 3: Tuesday next week and Governor Jim Pillen on Wednesday, if
- 36:38Speaker 3: you have anything that you would like to ask or
- 36:40Speaker 3: a topic that you think would be important to discuss,
- 36:43Speaker 3: absolutely reach out, send us an email, comment at kfab.com.
- 36:48Speaker 3: And even though it's a few days or over the weekend,
- 36:50Speaker 3: we can still Come back to those because I think
- 36:53Speaker 3: that there's a lot of importance from you guys that
- 36:56Speaker 3: would be good to ask. some of those candidates running
- 36:59Speaker 3: for governor.
- 36:59Speaker 1: Absolutely. And, you know, I was going to mention that, Peyton,
- 37:02Speaker 1: so thank you, because, again, this is your chance to
- 37:06Speaker 1: speak up, sound off. So if you are thinking of
- 37:08Speaker 1: questions that you want to ask Brett Lindstrom or you
- 37:12Speaker 1: want to ask the governor, let's hear them. I mean,
- 37:15Speaker 1: you could use that talkback mic, for example. Really easy
- 37:18Speaker 1: to do if you think of things over the weekend.
- 37:20Speaker 1: But email us, call in on Tuesday and Wednesday. And
- 37:24Speaker 1: we will get to your questions because you don't very
- 37:27Speaker 1: often get a chance to directly question these candidates, especially
- 37:31Speaker 1: a candidate for governor. And so listen to the show,
- 37:34Speaker 1: and I think it will be a really good interview,
- 37:36Speaker 1: and it's your chance to speak up and sound off,
- 37:40Speaker 1: as we have said many times. One last thing since
- 37:43Speaker 1: we're talking about– The Streetcar Impact Alliance, Peyton, having their
- 37:46Speaker 1: event tomorrow downtown. There was an article on the front
- 37:50Speaker 1: page of the World Herald just Wednesday that I didn't
- 37:53Speaker 1: get to yet. But it is an article about streetcar
- 37:56Speaker 1: revival has been mixed bag. And I thought when I
- 38:00Speaker 1: first read the headline, I thought, thank goodness, hopefully the
- 38:03Speaker 1: World Herald is going to give a positive story about
- 38:07Speaker 1: the streetcar. But once again, it is– I would not
- 38:11Speaker 1: say it's the most positive story yet. They continue to
- 38:14Speaker 1: interview one guy named Tom Rubin. He said he's a
- 38:18Speaker 1: transportation consultant who grew up in Omaha. They always will
- 38:22Speaker 1: interview him because he's very negative towards the streetcar. But
- 38:26Speaker 1: right on the front page, excuse me, they quote him
- 38:28Speaker 1: as saying– Streetcars are basically built for the stakeholders, but
- 38:33Speaker 1: the stakeholders are not the riders and they are not
- 38:36Speaker 1: the taxpayers. You know, I never did agree with everything
- 38:41Speaker 1: Tom Rubin said because he's got his mind made up.
- 38:43Speaker 1: Streetcars are not a good thing at all. If you
- 38:47Speaker 1: all remember when Warren Buffett came out and wrote a
- 38:51Speaker 1: public pulse letter and and said he didn't support streetcars,
- 38:55Speaker 1: everybody went, oh my gosh, Warren Buffett doesn't support it,
- 38:58Speaker 1: and why are we doing this? I went in and
- 39:00Speaker 1: talked to Warren Buffett about it, and first of all,
- 39:03Speaker 1: he's a hoot, and he said, well, I didn't think
- 39:05Speaker 1: that a letter to the public pulse would get on
- 39:07Speaker 1: the front page. I'm like, Mr.
- 39:08Speaker 5: Buffett.
- 39:08Speaker 2: You're Warren Buffett.
- 39:09Speaker 1: You're Warren Buffett. Number two, he was saying he didn't
- 39:12Speaker 1: like them for public transportation. He said, hey, I buy railroads.
- 39:16Speaker 1: Streetcars are not good for public transportation. But that's not
- 39:20Speaker 1: why we're building it in Omaha. We're building it to
- 39:22Speaker 1: be a catalyst for economic development and just get people
- 39:25Speaker 1: in around and out of downtown. And it is working
- 39:29Speaker 1: for economic development. development. So boy, time flies when we're
- 39:32Speaker 1: having fun, Peyton. But that is it for us today.
- 39:35Speaker 1: I want to thank you all for spending this hour
- 39:38Speaker 1: with us. I did have more grandson stories, but they're
- 39:41Speaker 1: going to have to wait until next week. But we'd
- 39:43Speaker 1: love for you to join us again. Peyton and I
- 39:45Speaker 1: will be back on Tuesday with Brent Lindstrom. I'm Jean Stothert.
- 39:50Speaker 1: Have a great Labor Day weekend. And this is 1110 KFAB.
