- MARK HAYES (00:01.454) All right, ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to another exciting edition of Two Minute Black and White, an honest conversation. And let's be honest about it. Donald Trump is driving your gas prices straight through the friggin roof. We are expected to see gas prices rise again this week. Another dime putting us probably right around the $3.84 mark for most people around the country. That is not good. That is un-good. That is No Bueno, as they would say, south of the border. Joining me now is Brock and Ella for a closer look at what's happening around the world and in our nation. Brock joins us from the confines, the lovely confines of the upper Hudson River Valley. Wow. What a beautiful place to live. Yeah, congratulations. Let's get right to it. Wow, gas prices going through the roof, tankers, cargo ships being attacked, going through the Strait of Hormuz. The global economy is being held hostage right now thanks to Donald Trump and his stupidity. Brock Ganeles (00:49.75) Yeah. Brock Ganeles (01:12.214) truckers are pissed, right? You're seeing that right off the lip, right? Right off the bat. But the problem with the Iran scenario directly is number one is now that we've like kicked this hornet's nest, right? And it's buzzing all over the place and trying to figure out how to not get stung is that it's actually hard now to monitor and make safe the straight of hormones. MARK HAYES (01:14.698) it. MARK HAYES (01:29.11) Hmm. Hmm. Brock Ganeles (01:40.436) It made it really actually requires a whole bunch of ships there and this whole escorting of commercial ships through through a very narrow passageway and requires either a ton of US assets assets or some cooperation from what we used to call the the the countries formerly known as our European allies. MARK HAYES (02:07.406) No can do, baby. Brock Ganeles (02:09.546) But since we Trump's treating them like shit for a full term and then another 15 months and embarrassed them about NATO, complain that they don't pay enough money towards NATO, don't step up on NATO and need to be there. They need to be the ones supporting Ukraine and they need to put all their attention there because the US shouldn't have to do it. Now we're asking for their help. MARK HAYES (02:19.448) Peace. MARK HAYES (02:23.054) You MARK HAYES (02:36.406) HUH! Brock Ganeles (02:36.668) in a war in a war that they wanted absolutely no part of. And they're actually invoking the fact that NATO is a defensive alliance, not an offensive alliance, not an offensive one. And this is a, in essence, a war of choice. So they're either saying no or saying we'll get back to you or we need to look into it more or our legislature needs to debate it. But basically I haven't seen anyone Join in, have you? Join the I-RAM party? MARK HAYES (03:10.612) No, sir. And coming out of Cairo, apparently Trump demanded yesterday that about seven countries send warships and he's heard nothing but crickets. Basically a lot of we'll get back to you. No can do and a bunch of definite maybes. So he's got nothing with his demands. Oil prices will continue to soar. The Iran war continues. Israel has now expanded their attack. It's a whole shit show going on here. Nothing in the Middle East is peaceful right now. And we still don't know what's going on with those Americans who are stuck over there, who were told to get home the best way you can. I mean, how is this benefiting America? Brock Ganeles (04:02.088) No, and Trump's Trump. Yeah, Trump's vacillating between we don't need anybody's help because we're the strongest, toughest, you know, military in world history to hey, we need everybody's help because this is a tricky situation and, know, come dig us out of this hole. MARK HAYES (04:24.878) Yeah, it's not gonna happen, baby. Brock Ganeles (04:26.256) that I jumped into. you know, so what's the, what's, I don't see anyone come and send in their troops there because I don't see a politician that in Europe that would be able to survive having some of their troops going into the Strait of Hormuz and dying. that, would just, it would just be a career ender. So I don't see any of these allies sending their troops there. There's no justification. They, you know, just because we have a mad king. MARK HAYES (04:43.616) and dining. Brock Ganeles (04:55.604) doesn't mean that they have to act irrationally because America is. MARK HAYES (05:00.662) Right. And we're not seeing anyone else act as irrationally as we're seeing Donald Trump around the world. Even the Jung-uns and Xi's and Putin's of the world, you know, kind of have a plan when they do something. This guy is just going off half cock. Well, you know, those guys may not be demented either, like, you know, dementia Don. So, you know, the question is, When are we going to start getting accurate number on casualties of American soldiers? And how much is America going to put up with? That's my deal now because if we have to go into the Strait of Hormuz, we can't win a battle in the Strait of Hormuz. We don't have enough equipment, quite frankly. We are spread so thin around the world with munitions and bodies and equipment. We can't win a battle like that on someone else's turf. They know where the mines are. They're be blown. We're gonna lose more inventory than we could possibly imagine. Brock Ganeles (06:13.408) So we can turn and we can keep bombing Iran. We can keep inflicting pain. But at the same time, pain's being inflicted on the everyday American economically. like, I don't... I mean, I saw stories on this that I totally believe that Trump really thought that going to war would boost his approval rate, his flailing approval ratings, because he saw or someone told him that George W. Bush... MARK HAYES (06:20.812) Yeah MARK HAYES (06:37.868) I'm Brock Ganeles (06:42.152) approval spiked when he went into Iraq because you know how the country usually rallies around its government when it goes to war and he one thing he can do is read the polls and he knows he's down there in like the mid 30s on approval the lowest in American presidential history so he thought this would spark an uptick and it's just you know it's blown up in his face because it's idiotic and everyday Americans who don't really think or care about Iran MARK HAYES (06:50.99) Totally different situation. Brock Ganeles (07:12.69) are feeling it. We are look it's three dollars and sixty nine cents a gallon up here in Rheinbeck. It was two two eighty nine maybe three weeks ago last time I filled the tank right so it's up like a good 30 percent right and that's just the first jump right and projections are it's only going to go higher because you know no products moving through the Strait of Hormuz so we got a supply demand imbalance. MARK HAYES (07:24.033) Amen. Yep. MARK HAYES (07:41.687) Right. Brock Ganeles (07:41.768) still get a lot of demand and ain't much supply. So the American economy is just going to feel it. It hasn't even worked its way through yet to food prices and other goods. We're going to start seeing that. So it's just going to be massively inflationary, you know, as much as maybe even more than the tariffs were. it's just a losing proposition for Americans. MARK HAYES (07:45.879) Right. MARK HAYES (08:02.381) Right? MARK HAYES (08:07.882) all around. Yeah and remember the ripple effect right because once the gas prices go up everything goes up right. The cost of getting goods to market goes up you know airfare right. Price of jet fuel going up everything's going through the roof. So what does that mean? Less travel. What does that mean? are already suffering, hospitality industry gets a double whammy. Thanks a lot, Trump. Wow, this is economic, you know, master class right here that you're putting on. It's so, why is nobody in there giving him better advice? God Almighty. Brock Ganeles (09:00.678) And I, yeah, Mark, one thing, other, it's like the other thing I hadn't thought of, even like the Ubers and lifts and those car service guys, I wonder if they even start slapping on like a, fuel surcharge on top of the pricing in the way that like restaurants, you know, you know, slapped on some surcharges, you know, after COVID, right? Cause their expenses had gone up. And then of course they stayed there forever. MARK HAYES (09:14.318) Bye! MARK HAYES (09:20.418) Huh. MARK HAYES (09:24.064) Right. although the prices don't come back down, we saw that in the grocery stores. Right? Prices ain't coming back down. Brock Ganeles (09:33.556) Why is he not giving better advice? We don't know what he listens to. He's a dementia-ridden, narcissistic maniac. Israel's happy about what's going on because they're getting carte blanche to bomb Lebanon now, massively bomb Lebanon, to go after Hezbollah. And they've wanted to carpet bomb Iran for as long as we've been alive. MARK HAYES (09:36.396) Peace. MARK HAYES (09:42.382) Yeah. Brock Ganeles (10:00.062) So maybe there's enough of those, you know, voices that, that are still supporting this. But I think now he's moved into like a, you know, painting himself into a corner where he's just got to figure out how he can come out of it looking good. And he just hasn't, he hasn't figured it out yet. I think we're more likely to back down and declare victory, some sort of victory on some front. MARK HAYES (10:00.209) Mm-hmm. MARK HAYES (10:27.726) Thank Brock Ganeles (10:29.81) versus ratcheting up and spending more time in this war because I think Trump knows he's losing. He's losing every press conference. He's losing every media interaction. He's losing in the polling. He sees it. watches TV. Fox News is being critical of him. CNBC is doing whole shows on how these prices are hurting the stock market and hurting investors and therefore hurting America. So all even the MARK HAYES (10:48.878) Alright. Brock Ganeles (10:59.146) you know, kind of the friendly stations to him have even turned. So I feel like he's going to have to punt. The question is how much pain do we suffer before he figures out a way to walk away from this? MARK HAYES (11:17.006) Mmm. Brock Ganeles (11:17.47) and keeping his fragile ego intact. MARK HAYES (11:21.742) That's that's a good question. I mean is he even able to Assess anything in that regard given his dementia ridden state And nobody is willing to challenge him that's around him. So, you know, I think we're pretty much screwed as a nation There's there's there's there's no way really first of all the calculation was was just horrific in terms of going into Iran. You know you can't get in and out. They're not going to let you get in and out. We saw that in Iraq and Afghanistan. You can't get in and out. These people are dead serious about what they're doing, right? They believe that these 72 virgins are up there waiting for them. So should they die? It's all for the cause, baby. We're off to virgin heaven. So you're not going to kill them off. And so going in there did not literally did nothing for the American people except hurt us. And we've got people still out here sitting around talking about how wonderful things are and the media spinning it that way. I mean, it just it makes no sense. It makes no sense that we are here as what used to be. the preeminent superpower in the world. Brock Ganeles (12:50.518) You know, people come on the chat all the time. They're like, TDS, Trump Derangement Syndrome. like, critical of Trump is not derangement, right? There's no derangement here. And we're not pinning every problem in the world on him. But certainly the problems that are a direct result of a decision, a policy decision that was made. Well, the out MARK HAYES (12:55.694) Great. Right. Brock Ganeles (13:18.664) you know, the outcomes of that decision, the consequences of that decisions do squarely fall on the shoulders of the person that made the policy decision. There was no talk. MARK HAYES (13:28.257) Right. Brock Ganeles (13:31.914) for months years about bombing and attacking Iran. We put that to bed with Obama when we had the peace accord where they agreed not to have a nuclear weapon. This just came out of left field because Israel convinced them that they wanted to kill him personally. He just got played and in essence tricked into supporting Israel in this war. But he's dementia ridden moron. But yes, we're not MARK HAYES (13:37.357) Right? MARK HAYES (13:41.837) What? MARK HAYES (13:57.483) like a lot. Okay. Brock Ganeles (14:01.662) I'm not deranged because I blame Trump for bringing us into the Iraq war and the negative economic consequences that have been dragged along with us being in this engagement, a war of absolute choice. So when you make a choice, you live with the consequences, not a derangement to say that the horrendous choice that's had horrendous consequences. And now someone smart or crafty has to figure out a way for us to backpedal out of this mess because Trump's Trump did this to get Epstein off the headlines. Now he's got to get the Iran war off the headlines. So he's got to figure out, you know, another play that's going to steal the headlines and get away from this, which is also hurting his approval ratings. So like they're just they're just in free fall. MARK HAYES (14:44.142) That's right. Right. Brock Ganeles (15:00.842) The question then belies that Maga World has to realize that they have a flailing leader. They are not absolutely all totally blind, are they? And if so, how are they not going against him? MARK HAYES (15:11.415) Yeah. MARK HAYES (15:22.752) when they're Brock Ganeles (15:24.234) when they're suffering, when they they're staring at an absolute wipeout in November elections. If we have elections, even with crazy voter suppression, they don't think they can win. MARK HAYES (15:34.934) Right. They know they can't That's the sad part. Brock Ganeles (15:40.692) But no one will try to course correct and say we have to actually change the policies. to change the approval to change the ultimate voting. Now, instead, they're going to fuck around for at least a couple of weeks, if not months on this save act and try to figure out how to massively voter suppress women and poor people. Because they think if they carve women and poor people out, they have a better chance of winning. Statistics analysis doesn't even show that. But that's their current play, right? MARK HAYES (15:54.894) Right. MARK HAYES (16:07.434) Right. Brock Ganeles (16:19.136) going to the Senate and debating this fucking save act where women who have their husbands name have to fucking figure out how to get themselves on the voter rolls. That's the place. They say, hey Trump, your policy sucks. You're killing us. Get out of this fucking war. MARK HAYES (16:30.582) I mean, it's MARK HAYES (16:41.003) Yeah Brock Ganeles (16:41.088) get prices bet down because you talked about affordability and by the way maybe we should give some people healthcare back and you know give some people some food stamps so they can eat let's let's do some things that actually make people's lives better and maybe they'll vote for us they don't want to go that route. MARK HAYES (17:00.17) Yeah, do Americans know that Israel got 30 billion for their, you know, healthcare insurance, that they got universal healthcare over there that we're helping them pay for while our premiums got cut? I wonder if Americans know that. You know, the PPT- Brock Ganeles (17:23.146) No, because it never gets debated. It never gets discussed. MARK HAYES (17:26.092) Yeah. that's be well here's what happened. You know the PP tapes compromised Trump which is why it's called Compromat up in Russia. Right. These PP tapes are circulating all throughout the world and that's why this guy's compromised. Iran keeps saying they're going to release them. Anonymous says they're going to release them. More, more disgusting stuff is coming out. Everybody's interested in it. Even MAGA. And it's not going, it's not going away. How long does he think he's gonna keep killing people in Iran before the Epstein file, before people finally say, man, do you see what's going on in Iran later for those Epstein files? It's not happening. It's not happening. And I don't understand why nobody realizes that. The scary part is, Trump 2.0 still has almost three years left in it. But two years, 10 months, round up to three, how do we survive that? Because who knows what's going to happen in the midterms if there are midterms. They might say it's right. Brock Ganeles (18:47.701) There is no way. MARK HAYES (18:50.87) It's wartime, so no elections. Brock Ganeles (18:51.072) Mm-hmm. There's no way America can survive 32 more months or whatever the math is of 34 more months of Trump as president. mean, absolutely fucking no way. it's, he's just ripped the fabric of the country apart. He's a horrendous decision maker because he's not in the right mind and even, and, he's, he's a moral, right? So he doesn't even have a sense of caring about. MARK HAYES (18:54.798) you Brock Ganeles (19:24.234) the rest of the people around him. Yeah, this is unsustainable. We, this Iran war, I think wakes more Americans up to the fact that Trump can't be commander in chief for another, you know, almost three years because, you know, he's, you know, he's, he's out of his mind. He's reckless. He's detrimental to American interests. MARK HAYES (19:41.143) Huh! MARK HAYES (19:49.998) Right. Brock Ganeles (19:52.724) Yeah, we can't do it. We're going to have to. when tell me when the protests start. is the is the NCAA basketball tournament going to take everyone's attention for a while so they won't be able to start until after we watch our basketball games and have all our betting pools and that's three more weeks of Trump fucking around, you know, destroying our, you know, not only our economy, but our stature on the world. Probably. MARK HAYES (20:18.732) Yep. Yep. Brock Ganeles (20:20.106) You know, because we're just not, we're not riled up enough and we don't have a, we don't have an opposition party that thinks like a, a group that has to fight for the survival of America. It's still fighting for special interests and, you know, pocketbook issues versus the fundamental, you know, building blocks of the democracy. So we have a failed resistance party. MARK HAYES (20:43.329) Right. Right. Yeah, the resistance is awful. And I'm really ashamed of Americans at this point for sitting here and taking this. you know, it is what it is. We could keep talking about it to a boo in the face. But, you know, I think I think, you know, we're up against it because the media outlets are not going to let us know the true carnage. the true toll that this war is taking on our American soldiers, our men and women in uniform. And I thought when this started that would be, you know, the tipping point. But apparently, you know, the media is not an honest broker anymore. So we can't trust them. We can't trust them to do the hard work. and ask the tough questions for fear of the Mad King. So the only thing we can hope for now, Brock, is cholesterol to do its thing on the Mad King or the 25th Amendment, but nobody has the courage to pull that move. So we're pretty much screwed, bro. Brock Ganeles (22:05.684) No, the first battle is to get America's eyeballs off what they've been staring at their whole lives. So you've got to get them off that what we call mainstream media, which has just migrated to a right-wing media. even when they try to play middle of the road, now the FCC and Trump are attempting to bully even the tepid media that they do have. into total submission, total acquiescence and to really become a propaganda arm. So we're all going to have to move to independent media and off all those sources that we used to just unplug them because we have to listen to different voices first and then we're going to have to act in different ways and we're going to have to be more defiant and more confrontational and with even with each other, like we're going to have to shake up MARK HAYES (22:58.914) Yeah? Yeah? Brock Ganeles (23:04.18) the complacence amongst us and get our brethren ready for more of a fight and not allow people to pretend as though nothing has really changed when America has been flipped on its head. We're gone. We are gone. We're not even close to the country we were. MARK HAYES (23:13.942) right? MARK HAYES (23:28.429) Yeah. Brock Ganeles (23:33.568) five years ago and not even the ballpark of where we were 15 years ago, the Obama era. Think about how glorious an era that was compared to where we sit today as an America. MARK HAYES (23:34.989) Right. MARK HAYES (23:44.421) my. MARK HAYES (23:49.654) Yeah. All right, bro. Let's get some quick hits in. We've been off for a couple of nights. Brock Ganeles (23:57.078) We got a lot of stuff going on. Speaking of politics, a couple of quick hits. Virginia tomorrow will be voting for new districts. Basically, it's a gerrymander vote with the new governor, Spamberger. So there's a big push to get out the vote there. That would even make it more likely that the Democrats would turn that flip the House maybe significantly if there's anything close to a fair vote. MARK HAYES (24:02.422) MARK HAYES (24:07.661) Mm-hmm. Brock Ganeles (24:27.092) So this will scare MAGA if Virginia votes to redistrict. Thoughts on that one? You think it comes through? MARK HAYES (24:32.246) Right. Yeah, I think it'll come through. I just think people are done with it. know, people realize these folks don't have a clue what they're doing and, you know, they better get on the right side of history. I mean, before, you know, our history is dramatically different than what we once envisioned. I don't think people have a choice. Brock Ganeles (25:01.322) Yeah, because I mean, the Republican candidates are all ultra hardcore maga. No one's even close to being like ultra like middle of the road now is ultra hardcore maga. Right. They're like, you're so I mean, you have to be so acquiescent to Trump's whims to even play in that realm. Interestingly, after saying he would do it, Trump has not endorsed either Cornyn or Paxton. MARK HAYES (25:13.707) Right. Right. MARK HAYES (25:21.324) Right. Brock Ganeles (25:30.556) in that Texas runoff. Remember he said he was going to decide who he wanted and that whoever he chose the other guy needs to drop out. He never did never did come back around on that. MARK HAYES (25:33.315) You're right. Right. MARK HAYES (25:40.204) Yep. Never came around. Surprise, surprise. I guess he thought everybody else would forget because he did. He can't remember his ass from his elbow. I mean, the guy is just the man. doesn't, he just, he just says shit. And you know, and that's what, that's what I'm sick of. I'm so tired of him just off the cuff. You know, again, I refer to the death of expertise, you know, him just thinking he can bullshit his way through everything. You know, bullshitted his way through the state of the union, bullshitted his way through, you know, the debates the first time around with Hillary. Oh, because you'd be in jail. You know, we've never seen a presidential candidate act like a seven year old on the debate stage. You know, it was was a joke. It's it's farcical. Listen to this guy talk about anything of substance because he doesn't know anything. He doesn't read. He doesn't study. He's never been a good student. There are no accounts of him being any kind of student at all. Guy's fucking moron and I'm sick of it. Brock Ganeles (26:45.147) come on, he's fine. Brock Ganeles (26:53.942) Another topic that popped up over the weekend. Have you seen any of the depositions of the doji kids? There's a civil lawsuit. So the doji guys had to go under deposition. They were posted on YouTube. Apparently the judge has just mandated that they get pulled down. So I don't think they're currently up there, but it just showed how MARK HAYES (27:03.931) no! MARK HAYES (27:15.734) really? Brock Ganeles (27:22.16) little thought there was behind all the cuts that were made. Cause none of them could, none of the doji, doji bros could even explain what DEI was and what their criteria was for cutting the funding, which was basically their job. Bunch of 25 year old white kids. Their job was to assess, assess all these programs. MARK HAYES (27:28.338) Doji Bros. Muskrats. MARK HAYES (27:45.87) From South Africa. Brock Ganeles (27:49.39) decide which one of them had to get pulled so they were just doing like Searches for keywords like if it said race or gender or something in there or black that that meant they would just cut it Immediately or they'd go in a chat GPT and that would tell them whether this you know Was considered to be DEI. it was an embarrassment and it's probably why the judge took them down All right. Yeah, you got any for me? I got one more for you. I want to talk race MARK HAYES (28:07.235) Wah. MARK HAYES (28:14.049) Wow. MARK HAYES (28:18.964) Okay, so speaking of race, Paramount has acquired Tyler Perry's stake in BET Plus, the streaming platform has a lot of great content on it. I've spent a lot of time on it. Over the last few years, Tyler Perry had a 25 % stake, sold it to Paramount Plus. The Ellison people, the people that own CBS, the people that are buying up all this. Remember when it used to take years? to purchase a media property because there's studies had to be done to see if it was going to monopolize a certain part of the media landscape and now you can just buy it like you you grab shit off the shelf at Walmart. Anyway they're taking all this pro black and brown programming and they're gonna bury it somewhere on Paramount plus probably somewhere where we can't find it. Right? Because God forbid we should have positive programming out there about the black and brown experience in America. MARK HAYES (29:26.558) ET plus the streaming network. Yeah, still exists But you know again What kind of market share do they have bro? Like BT has never been owned by black people with Robert Johnson, but you know, don't I don't even know we call him black, you know on the what-up though You know, gets down with the man man holding us down So, yeah, it was frustrating to see it. know, Tyler Perry isn't a stooped businessman. I can't really, you know, hammer him in that regard because I don't know what went into the decision making process. I'm sure he had good reason for selling off his 25 % stake, like the runway that sits in his front yard for his private jet and his 60,000 square foot home. That requires a lot of maintenance, I'm sure. I've never owned a private jet or never had a runway in my front yard, but I would imagine it's quite expensive. Brock Ganeles (30:37.339) Maybe he's taking the money to invest in his own ideas. And why have his money sitting as a minority owner of a network that he probably doesn't think is going in the right direction? That's my positive spin on what could be behind the decision. MARK HAYES (30:48.995) Mmm. MARK HAYES (30:53.422) You're not the black guy in this conversation. We can tell you that. Way too positive. Brock Ganeles (30:57.046) Okay, I want to ask you a question about some black women. Okay. Asi Fudd, star guard for Yukon women's basketball team. Black, black woman? MARK HAYES (31:04.17) Okay? MARK HAYES (31:12.3) Okay. Brock Ganeles (31:16.854) Black woman right? So I watch her senior day and she walks out on the court with her mother on senior day as all the senior athletes do in their last home game and this and that. And her mother is this white woman who played ball for Georgetown. Didn't see the father there but I'm going to assume the father is black because otherwise why would Ozzy Fudd be considered black? But it just gets me to think it gets me back to race on who is black. MARK HAYES (31:27.064) Sure. MARK HAYES (31:32.3) Really? Brock Ganeles (31:46.79) Anyone who has any hair anyone in their family tree in any and we still have the one drop Are we still one dropping race? MARK HAYES (31:57.044) at Plessy v Ferguson. Absolutely. If you got a little bit in you, you're it. And it matters. Right? Because now you can apply for minority scholarships, et cetera. And you can be excluded now according to, you know, the Trump regime. Brock Ganeles (32:16.744) Okay so here's my next one. Here's my next one. Halle Stamfield starred in Sinners which I haven't seen but you tell me was a great movie. Michael B Jordan won an Academy Award for it last night. Kugler won one of the awards. The movie didn't win but they across the way Cinematographer won. Cinematographer woman won. First woman ever for that. Okay so Halle Stamfield considered MARK HAYES (32:30.978) Best actor. MARK HAYES (32:37.784) Yeah. Syntagraphy. Yeah. Brock Ganeles (32:46.546) A black woman. I didn't realize that she was in Pitch Perfect. Perfect. I thought she was a white woman, but her maternal grandfather is part Filipino and part like African American. Literally had to look it up in Wikipedia. So she's in the movie. She's Michael B. Jordan's wife in the movie. You know, I'm referring to. MARK HAYES (33:06.74) Yeah, but I, wow, I didn't know she was a black woman. Brock Ganeles (33:12.127) part so she's very much welcome in the black community and can well, I don't know. Should she be considered a black woman? MARK HAYES (33:22.39) Well, according to the question, yes! Yes! Brock Ganeles (33:24.286) If her maternal grandfather was partially black? Okay on the Azzy Fudd scale, the Barack Obama scale, Jeter scale as long as one of your two parents is someone in your family tree is then you're considered black. I don't know if she was in the movie Sinners, I don't know if Ryan Coogler considered her a black, maybe he didn't care. Maybe he was just hiring an actor. MARK HAYES (33:48.013) He probably didn't. He was probably high who we thought was best for the role. Brock Ganeles (33:52.778) But society cares, right? Society cares whether she's black or white. And the reason I asked the question is because she's now married to Josh Allen, a fantastic white quarterback of the Buffalo Bills. MARK HAYES (33:56.481) Yeah! MARK HAYES (34:06.892) who had racial issues coming out in the NFL draft. Brock Ganeles (34:09.898) You'd have some racial issues. Okay. So how Stanfield was not at the Academy Awards last night because she's pregnant. So here's my question to you. If highly Stanfield has a son with Josh Allen, will that, will that son be a black quarterback or a white quarterback? MARK HAYES (34:13.568) I remember seeing that they were. MARK HAYES (34:21.774) MARK HAYES (34:31.383) Yes. He'll be a black quarterback. Brock Ganeles (34:37.78) Josh Allen's son is going to be a black quarterback. That's what you're telling me. In 20 years, Josh Allen's son is going to drop from the first round to the sixth round because he doesn't come across well in the interviews. Josh Allen's son is going to drop. MARK HAYES (34:40.045) Yes. MARK HAYES (34:46.892) because he's a black quarterback. MARK HAYES (34:52.141) Yeah. Or, you know, he might speak too white, which would then, you know, disqualify him as someone who's able to lead in the huddle. Yeah, I mean, he could have any number of issues as a black quarterback. We've seen them all. And, you know, depending on what his hair looks like, it may be curly, it may not be, like, we don't know. You know, we'll have to wait and see. Brock Ganeles (35:01.206) You MARK HAYES (35:23.83) how he comes, but as a grandfather of biracial babies, you know, I'm trying to prepare myself for the bridges and the hurdles that we have to come across for these two beautiful little girls, right? Like my grand babies look awful white and that's fine. You know, I don't care, but like you said, society does, right? And so I am, You know, my son has talked about moving to Florida. I'm not supposed to bring him up personal issues on the show, but he's talked about moving to Florida. And I was like, my gosh, why would you want to do that? Why would you want to raise two African-American girls in the state of Florida who doesn't want them to know their real history or at least half of it? Brock Ganeles (36:19.102) Jesus, does your mom have voting rights? MARK HAYES (36:21.398) Well that too and You know, again at 30 31 years old Did it matter to us I Don't know, you know, he may have those same blinders on and those blinders Maybe more blinding to this era of 30 year olds because of the way they've grown up. They didn't grow up with telephone books and having to read and research. Right? Remember the Dewey Decimal System when we had to check out books? You know? Yeah. Remember the library? What do they do with libraries on college campuses now? Are there still books in them? Brock Ganeles (36:57.334) Oh man, the was tough. Brock Ganeles (37:07.018) But as American society was moving to even a more integrated society, mean, and maybe this is disappointment I have to going back to, right? There's a belief that the ferociousness of the MAGA movement right now is a reaction to Obama being president, right? That's a political and social theory that's out there, right? That, you know, there's a cadre of... thought leaders that believe that maybe some consider that a fact is I thought at that point in in our lives that America was was moving towards a more blended society. And there are so many more interracial people out there that it was just seemed to be somewhat going away. That's clearly a white guy's view. You probably hear that and go like. MARK HAYES (37:34.776) seems to be a fact. MARK HAYES (37:39.395) Yeah. Brock Ganeles (38:02.388) Yeah, was going away for you because it didn't affect you. But that was my sense. And now I feel like we're miles away from that. That we've like we've worked our way almost back to a segregated society, openly segregated society. But I just wonder with all these interracial people that are out there. MARK HAYES (38:11.446) Yeah, we're nowhere near that. Brock Ganeles (38:24.49) You know, kind of in a way make light of it, but I lay it out because there's so many that are high profile, especially in the sports world, right? There's just so many Patrick Mahomes, right? There's just so many out there and they're all considered black. And yet there a lot of them are mixed race. MARK HAYES (38:24.846) it's the breaking of marriage! MARK HAYES (38:32.77) Yes! MARK HAYES (38:43.244) Yep. And you know, this is the browning of America, bro. And this is the fear that white America has and the fear that gave birth to MAGA. Too many brown folks and others in America. Remember, it's all about the numbers, right? The minority. Right? Now, I can't tell you how Patrick Mahomes and his brother vote. Right? We know how his wife votes, but I can't tell you how he votes. But, you know, the fear is that folks like Patrick, you know, biracial, mixed race individuals are going to blue. And that's the fear. Brock Ganeles (39:31.422) Wait, they're gonna vote blue? MARK HAYES (39:33.484) Yeah, vote for Democrats. Brock Ganeles (39:35.071) Whoa, the fear is that they will and that's why the MAGA backlash. Okay. MARK HAYES (39:38.54) Yeah, yeah. And so, you know, we've been hearing, I've been hearing that in the black community for a long time. More than, more, probably before Obama got in office, we were hearing those rumblings that the browning of America was coming. MARK HAYES (40:01.23) So there we have it. Brock Ganeles (40:01.992) And thus the voter suppression that's come with it. MARK HAYES (40:05.024) Exactly. Exactly. Ciao. Brock Ganeles (40:11.592) I mean, I keep bringing these up, these mixed race scenarios, because I think it makes a mockery of the whole like categorization of race that like race, it does not exist. There's no such thing as race, right? It was created only in America to create a stratified society, right? It created by white people, but. MARK HAYES (40:20.014) you MARK HAYES (40:27.138) Right. MARK HAYES (40:34.254) Yeah. Yeah. Brock Ganeles (40:38.701) I like the Halle saying feel. think I've been saying her name wrong. By the way, she's also half Jewish and half Christian. So you can throw that in the mix as well. She's a true hybrid. MARK HAYES (40:48.846) You're right. Got a of A lot of issues. Brock Ganeles (40:56.416) could be great, could have a foot in a lot of different camps and could be like that might be a great way to be is to have that all kinds of of of heritages and even being exposed to different religions so maybe you can make a decision on you who you want to be as you get older in a way that could be the the best state of affairs of of a person it's not the way we look at it that way now but MARK HAYES (41:21.931) Absolutely. Brock Ganeles (41:26.538) that argument could be made. is not the way, it's not the way we, that's not where America stands right now. And, you unlikely to get there in our lifetimes. MARK HAYES (41:26.734) Yep. MARK HAYES (41:35.552) Yeah, yeah, yeah, we can forget it. Unless we're able to, you know, freeze ourselves. And stick around, but yeah, I wouldn't count on it. All right, buddy, that'll do it for us. We had an active chat there. We thank you folks for participating in the conversation. We'll see you back here tomorrow at 5 p.m. once again, Eastern time. And... Brock Ganeles (41:43.648) He MARK HAYES (42:02.53) We'll see what we can get upset about again tomorrow and get folks rattled up. Brock Ganeles (42:06.442) Alright Mark, always a pleasure. MARK HAYES (42:07.938) All right, buddy. See you then. MARK HAYES (42:13.687) Now the chat was going.
