- 0:01Speaker 1: Jerry, Katie and Josh makes one hundred. I would imagine
- 0:04Speaker 1: a lot of you are getting ready for work right now,
- 0:06Speaker 1: trying to pick out the perfect pant suit for the day.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Uh huh, Katie's got a fashion hack.
- 0:12Speaker 3: I guess the wrong shoe theory.
- 0:15Speaker 2: It's pretty awesome. The wrong shoe Yeah.
- 0:17Speaker 3: That was coined by a celebrity stylist. So what it
- 0:20Speaker 3: came from is she was looking at her client, who
- 0:23Speaker 3: wore sneakers almost every day because she was a busy
- 0:26Speaker 3: city mom, right, And so she noticed that her client
- 0:30Speaker 3: would always start with her shoes and then build up
- 0:32Speaker 3: from there, and she would always do sneakers because she
- 0:35Speaker 3: kind of just felt like that's what her vibe was.
- 0:39Speaker 3: But then her outfit always matched that, like sporty kind
- 0:43Speaker 3: of sneaker equals sporty.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Look yea yeah yeah.
- 0:46Speaker 3: So because she started with the sneakers, everything always looked
- 0:50Speaker 3: like it matched the sneakers. So she looked at that
- 0:52Speaker 3: and she's like, wait a minute, how do you actually
- 0:55Speaker 3: want to dress? And that's where she realized that sporty
- 0:58Speaker 3: wasn't the goal with her client. It was just comfort.
- 1:00Speaker 3: And because she's a city mom and walking a lot
- 1:03Speaker 3: she wanted to have that sneaker, and then the outfit
- 1:06Speaker 3: just kind of reflected that. So they switched things up.
- 1:09Speaker 3: And what they did was that they started the outfit first.
- 1:12Speaker 3: So then you're building the outfit and then you choose
- 1:16Speaker 3: a shoe that adds an unexpected contrast. So it's the
- 1:19Speaker 3: wrong shoe, but it looks unexpected and cool.
- 1:21Speaker 2: But somehow it yeah, exactly fabulous.
- 1:25Speaker 3: It has completely changed the game when it comes to fashion.
- 1:29Speaker 3: And it said the addition of the sneakers. So if
- 1:32Speaker 3: you have like a sheic looks like a paint suit,
- 1:35Speaker 3: but then you have the sneakers along with it, it
- 1:37Speaker 3: makes the sneakers look like they are the choice, like
- 1:40Speaker 3: an intentional styling decision, and that looks more genuine to
- 1:44Speaker 3: your style.
- 1:45Speaker 1: But it's very much like the dudes now who rock
- 1:48Speaker 1: the suits. You go into a fancy event or whatever,
- 1:50Speaker 1: and then you grow on a really bright white pair
- 1:54Speaker 1: of Nikes.
- 1:55Speaker 2: Yeah, somehow it looks really good.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Absolutely, you throw some Jordans on or something with your
- 1:59Speaker 1: sin and you're like, damn this, I could pull this off.
- 2:02Speaker 3: This way with the suit is so money. And that's
- 2:05Speaker 3: kind of the heart of this whole theory. It's like,
- 2:07Speaker 3: choose a shoe that adds an unexpected contrast, and that's
- 2:11Speaker 3: going to make the outfit feel more thoughtful and present.
- 2:14Speaker 1: So I love being thoughtful, and I know you do
- 2:19Speaker 1: vision boards.
- 2:20Speaker 3: When I saw wrong Shoe Theory, I.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Was like, ja, I've taken a sharpie or dry erace
- 2:27Speaker 1: and wrote that on my mirror in the bathroom.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Wrong shoe theory. Yes, thoughtful and present, so smart. And
- 2:33Speaker 2: then I draw a heart around it. Yes, you matter.
- 2:37Speaker 3: And then you think the thing is, if you want
- 2:39Speaker 3: to try this, you probably already own everything you need
- 2:42Speaker 3: to try the wrong shoe theory instead of buying a
- 2:44Speaker 3: whole wardrobes.
- 2:45Speaker 2: That's what people love about it too. It is like
- 2:46Speaker 2: I already have everything I need.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Yeah, dig out those vans from the back corner of
- 2:51Speaker 1: your closet, throw them on today, just for fun, with an.
- 2:54Speaker 3: Evening dress, go dos with a tuxedo.
- 2:58Speaker 2: Where does it end.
- 3:00Speaker 1: I've gone through a couple of big milestones with my
- 3:02Speaker 1: kids this summer at the start of the school year.
- 3:07Speaker 1: You know, we got one who's leaving elementary school going
- 3:10Speaker 1: to middle one leaving middle going into.
- 3:12Speaker 2: High school, both at the same time, same year. Right,
- 3:15Speaker 2: that's a big move for parents. It is.
- 3:18Speaker 1: My son started driving, and you know, we were talking about that.
- 3:22Speaker 2: On the air the other day and I started crying like.
- 3:24Speaker 1: A baby because he's growing up so fast. And I
- 3:27Speaker 1: cried like a baby again yesterday.
- 3:29Speaker 3: Oh no, what happened.
- 3:30Speaker 1: We took my daughter over to the middle school because
- 3:34Speaker 1: it was like the day that they get their schedule,
- 3:38Speaker 1: their locker combination. They could drop off their supplies, they
- 3:42Speaker 1: go walk the their schedule, walk the halls. You know, yes, Katie,
- 3:47Speaker 1: I bet you bawled like a baby. The observations of
- 3:52Speaker 1: these kids coming back from summer to school, especially in
- 3:55Speaker 1: middle school, it is so funny to see the height
- 3:58Speaker 1: differences of all these kids in that age group.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Yeah, you got some kids that are, you.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Know, five foot tall, and then you got other kids
- 4:06Speaker 1: over here that are about a foot tall.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Sad day for them. They got the upper locker.
- 4:11Speaker 1: And they cannot see they're the little dial at all.
- 4:16Speaker 1: There's a couple of poor kids there that were so
- 4:19Speaker 1: small they were like trying to jump up to get
- 4:21Speaker 1: their locker open. It was really quite sad. I laughed though,
- 4:26Speaker 1: and speaking up the lockers. It was kind of cute
- 4:30Speaker 1: watching all these kids including my daughter, who live in
- 4:33Speaker 1: a fully digital world right now, trying to figure out
- 4:37Speaker 1: how the combo lockers work, you know, right left, right.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Right, right, left right, you get.
- 4:42Speaker 3: The one number, then all the way around for the
- 4:44Speaker 3: second number.
- 4:45Speaker 1: That's right, and trying to teach them about that when
- 4:48Speaker 1: they are just used to you know, one, two, three,
- 4:50Speaker 1: four on their phone and boom you're in.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Yeah, it was kind of funny. Never turned a dial
- 4:55Speaker 2: in their line.
- 4:55Speaker 1: I have never used an analog locker in their life.
- 5:00Speaker 2: It's sweet, my sweet little daughter. She I made her
- 5:03Speaker 2: do it.
- 5:03Speaker 1: She was getting so sick of me because it took
- 5:05Speaker 1: her a while to catch on and how to do it.
- 5:08Speaker 2: And so we'd go walk her schedule, go, you know,
- 5:10Speaker 2: go back to the locker, do it two.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Or three more times, and she's like, I was like,
- 5:13Speaker 1: do it because you're gonna be under a time cray
- 5:16Speaker 1: when you're changing classes, and I just want you to
- 5:19Speaker 1: know how to do it. So she must have opened
- 5:21Speaker 1: and close her locker probably seventy five times yesterday.
- 5:24Speaker 2: It's like the wax on wax sauce. Yeah karate kidds.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Yes, but you know what, she got it down. She
- 5:30Speaker 1: can do it with her eyes closed now. So I
- 5:32Speaker 1: was very proud of her.
- 5:34Speaker 2: But yeah, there was a moment when we were walking around.
- 5:37Speaker 2: I'm gonna try not to cry now, when.
- 5:39Speaker 1: We walked into the cafeteria and it was so you know,
- 5:42Speaker 1: it's so big, it's way bigger than an elementary.
- 5:44Speaker 2: School cafeteria, right, oh yeah, And.
- 5:46Speaker 1: She stood there and she was standing there and I
- 5:47Speaker 1: got this picture of her just kind of standing there,
- 5:49Speaker 1: like taking it all in and looking at the ceiling.
- 5:52Speaker 3: And I lost it and nobody noticed.
- 5:56Speaker 2: I just was like, I mean, I lost it. It
- 5:59Speaker 2: was my little girl.
- 6:00Speaker 1: I was like, that's your baby, and I I had
- 6:05Speaker 1: tears like rolling down my face and I wasn't loud crying.
- 6:08Speaker 2: It was just like, you know, you well up. Yeah.
- 6:10Speaker 1: And I looked over it Nicole and she said don't
- 6:14Speaker 1: and then boom, she started just gushing and we were
- 6:19Speaker 1: trying to hide it from the kids. And then I'm like,
- 6:21Speaker 1: oh my god, who am I going to run into
- 6:23Speaker 1: in the halls here now? And I've got bright red
- 6:25Speaker 1: eyes and I'm like everything's wet, but yeah, it's just
- 6:29Speaker 1: you've been there.
- 6:30Speaker 2: Oh yeah, it's a moment. Man. I had a moment yesterday.
- 6:34Speaker 3: You know when they graduated from high school, like when
- 6:37Speaker 3: they go to college, all those things. I mean it
- 6:41Speaker 3: and it hits you like that every time you think
- 6:43Speaker 3: that maybe you're used to it, you're gonna be prepared
- 6:45Speaker 3: this time, you've got you expect it coming. But every time,
- 6:49Speaker 3: at least for me, I just completely lose it because
- 6:53Speaker 3: you're right, it's a moment in time that you just
- 6:55Speaker 3: realize they're not going to be with you forever. Yeah,
- 6:58Speaker 3: And I think that's what it is really sets in.
- 7:01Speaker 2: I mean, it hits you like.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Like like the clock is tickings moving forward, and.
- 7:06Speaker 3: The real person, real like with real feelings and beliefs
- 7:10Speaker 3: and and dreams, and it's just like.
- 7:12Speaker 1: This is a whole new, huge experience moving from elementary
- 7:16Speaker 1: to middle school.
- 7:17Speaker 2: This is a big deal now, you know.
- 7:19Speaker 3: And h right, you're so happy because you're like, oh,
- 7:25Speaker 3: you're doing all the things I wanted you to. This
- 7:27Speaker 3: is exactly what we've been training for for you to
- 7:29Speaker 3: move on the next moment. So it's like there's so
- 7:32Speaker 3: many feelings involved in it, and I think that's why
- 7:35Speaker 3: people become overwhelmed, because it's just like.
- 7:38Speaker 2: I don't know what this is. I'm just gonna cry.
- 7:41Speaker 1: You know I'm trying to be you know, a big
- 7:43Speaker 1: tough dad and everything, and man, it's not a chance
- 7:47Speaker 1: in hell. So I expected to happen again when we
- 7:49Speaker 1: go up to the high school and do some stuff
- 7:52Speaker 1: for you know, back to school night and stuff there
- 7:53Speaker 1: for my son, but you.
- 7:55Speaker 3: Very care for those high school kids'll push you down,
- 7:57Speaker 3: and they will they will.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Shove me down. Well, who's dad is dad crying?
- 8:04Speaker 1: Nicole did hold it together pretty darn well though. I
- 8:07Speaker 1: was really impressed because she is definitely a very sentimental mom.
- 8:11Speaker 1: But when we walked out the front doors of the
- 8:14Speaker 1: middle school to head out, that's when she.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Was like, I held it in for I just I
- 8:18Speaker 2: held it in for so long and now I can't.
- 8:21Speaker 2: So she was out front with snot running down her face.
- 8:23Speaker 3: I'm sure.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Yeah, it was pretty nasty.
- 8:26Speaker 3: That's the thing, though, you can totally give some kind
- 8:29Speaker 3: of you know, people out there are listening and going
- 8:31Speaker 3: through the same exactly, guys, I feel you exactly Like
- 8:35Speaker 3: Strengthen numbers one big hug parents growing up
