- 0:05[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, welcome to the MTV NFL podcast.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_00]: There's Albert Brear.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Connor Orr.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_00]: Albert is recovering from man-tucket wedding season.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_00]: No, I saw you tweeting about man-tucket wedding.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_01]: People got so mad.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_01]: So to set the stage for that, there was a big storm up here last weekend.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know about you guys to be clear.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_00]: You guys got hit by it, right?
- 0:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we got an order, you're certain.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_00]: But you don't live in man-tuckets.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_01]: No, they're.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_01]: No, but we got hit by it, and it was like whatever five days are rain.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_01]: So there was the Nantucket current, which is like a series of social media accounts.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_01]: They're actually like really good.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_01]: And they had said that they had sources telling them that there were 34 weddings planned for the island last weekend.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_01]: And I responded with a tweet that said, that's what you get for planning a fall wedding.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_01]: which some of the audience understood in some of the audience didn't.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_01]: And I would say the most of the people that were really angry about it were not from one of two regions of the country.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_01]: They were not from the Midwest and they were not from the south.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_01]: And for people who don't know, it is a major faux pas in certain corners of the Midwest and certain corners of the south to schedule
- 1:30[SPEAKER_01]: because you are making people miss college football saturday for sure yeah i mean it's a huge part of the social calendar in those cities and yeah i mean it's so it's like it's i have friends who like like actually like really do believe it's inconsiderate
- 1:53[SPEAKER_00]: I, so mine was during the NCAA tournament and it was the day before Major League Baseball opening day and I have one of my rider dive buddies.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_00]: Matt E-Halt was covering the mats at the time.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_00]: Stayed at the wedding until one o'clock in the morning.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: drove to Newark Airport and took a 5 a.m flight to Cincinnati to get to the Reds Clubhouse and time for Mets Reds season opener.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_00]: That was one of the all-time gestures of friendship.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_01]: I have a story like that.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_01]: So in 2006, again, this is the second time my big brother in the
- 2:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, it was his bachelor party.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_01]: So my, my, my fraternity brother Evan, um, this was 2006, and he had his bachelor party on the Jersey Shore on the weekend of the Ohio State Texas game in 2000.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_01]: And no, there was a Ohio State, it was no, there was no Ohio State game that weekend.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_01]: So, so we went and so I went to that but I was covering I was in my second year covering the Patriots and they were playing the Texans the next day and so I went out with them on I we got there on Friday on that Saturday party all day all of that
- 3:26[SPEAKER_01]: And I was up and we were still like all kind of broke at that point.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_01]: I was 26.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_01]: So I was making some money, but we were at this hotel.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_01]: We were at a hotel on the Jersey Shore.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_01]: And I went to bed probably at like one, right?
- 3:43[SPEAKER_01]: Knowing that I had to get up at six and drive four and a half hours to Foxborough.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_01]: Or five or whatever, right?
- 3:50[SPEAKER_01]: And so I get up at like five, five, thirty in the morning and put my, you know, get dressed.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I'm getting in a suit.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like crap.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_01]: I'm, I can statue of limitations.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_01]: I may still be drunk.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_01]: And I walk out and there are like three of my buddies, like smoking cigarettes, like in the parking lot.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_01]: It's like five, thirty in the morning.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_01]: Like, where are you going?
- 4:15[SPEAKER_01]: It's only guys like all weekend.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_01]: I have to leave at five thirty in the morning to go to Patriots Texans.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_01]: So it wouldn't have been Ohio City Text.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_01]: I would have been too late in the year.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_01]: But I was like, I remember I remember was the Patriots in the Texans in 2006 that I had to get back to cover.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_00]: That was a hatred for Texas game.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure we never forgot.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_00]: So there was a lot of trading happening this week Aber between the time that we taped our last show we got banged with one of those specials where it was like an hour and a half
- 4:44[SPEAKER_00]: After we get the show out, JJ McCarthy gets shipped to the Giants, but I'm lucky.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: I feel lucky because we can bundle that overnight Wednesday because we're taping this Thursday morning.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_00]: Joey Porter is on his way to Dallas for a press conference with the Cowboys.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_00]: a six round pick next year in a second round pick the year after that so not a bad deal.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: I thought for Dallas.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_00]: I would do that.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_00]: I'm wondering if the lions looked at that and said a boy we should have maybe thrown our hat into the ring there, but let's start with JJ McCarthy.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_00]: You and I are a little bit like.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_00]: Peter Schrager and Steve Smith.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if you saw this, but Peter on his show.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_00]: I love Steve.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_01]: I love Steve, but his whole that the he's not very good.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_00]: What was it?
- 5:35[SPEAKER_00]: Well, Peter was, you know, Peter was doing the Peter thing.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: And I love Peter.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_00]: Peter was like,
- 5:39[SPEAKER_00]: this is the greatest trade ever.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_00]: I love it.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_00]: It's so smart.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_00]: Whatever, whatever, whatever, what a great move.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_00]: And then Steve Smith's like, um, okay, I disagree.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_00]: And I read your piece Albert.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_00]: I had a piece up immediately after the trade.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_00]: I will let you go first and tell me why this was a, a good move.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_00]: So I, I
- 6:02[SPEAKER_01]: Look, like I, I'm not going to say that this is like a game changing type of move, but you know, like I think minutes to Minnesota, Minnesota is calculus on this was we're not going to pick up his option.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_01]: The ship is sailed on that.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_01]: So we have a year and a half left, can we develop him fast enough where it'll be worth our while to have him on the roster?
- 6:24[SPEAKER_01]: And the answer was no, you know, and look, he wasn't very good.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_01]: And I think like for that reason, this is very much like the trail ant situation in San Francisco.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_01]: When trail ant was drafted, what was everybody saying about where he was going?
- 6:42[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god, that's the perfect place for a quarterback.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_01]: And on paper, that makes sense.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_01]: A established program, they didn't need to rush them onto the field.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_01]: Really great coach of quarterbacks who has track record, maximizing quarterbacks, young and old, perfect.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_01]: Here's the problem.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_01]: Tray Lance didn't play enough in college and then Tray Lance was going to the pros and he needed game reps and the team was in a position where it couldn't afford to throw seasons overboard in the name of developing Tray Lance.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_01]: So he got that long leash once in 2022.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_01]: He got hurt.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_01]: and Brock Party wound up passing him on the debit chart.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_01]: And at that point, the Niners said we can't wait any longer.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_01]: We just can't.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_01]: We don't, like the makeup of our roster, it's not fair to the other 52 guys here.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_01]: We can't do it.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_01]: And so, Trailans never got the game reps that he needed to get to grow as a quarterback to mature as a quarterback to see all the defenses to run all the plays, all that different stuff.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_01]: And I think like the JJ McCarthy situation is very similar.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_01]: And I played more than Lance didn't college, but he was in a run heavy offense, just like Grant Lance.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't have as many applicable reps as a result of that.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_01]: He got to the pros, he was still kind of raw.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_01]: And he needed to play, and he needed to see stuff.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_01]: He needed to run different plays.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_01]: He needed to see different defenses.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_01]: He needed to kind of go through all of that.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_01]: And he got the longer leash in 2025,
- 8:25[SPEAKER_01]: He struggled, he got hurt, and a team just looked at it and said, we just can't do this with the team that we have.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_01]: We're competing for playoff spots.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's not fair to the other guys here if we're putting them through that.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_01]: And their whole idea, the vitalisal idea was last year was like, can we get him to the point where he's like the 18th or the 20th best quarterback in football?
- 8:47[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_01]: And they thought like that'll be enough.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_01]: And they never really got to see that either, you know.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_01]: So like I think that's the logic behind it.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_01]: You know, if you look at like why he's available and look for the giants.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_01]: Here's the thing.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_01]: I think it sends a signal to the locker room.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_01]: We're not giving up on the season.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_01]: It is a low-risk move.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_01]: It's not, it wasn't made with the idea that James is getting benched in a week or two, right?
- 9:15[SPEAKER_01]: And if in November, December, JJ gives you a little spark, right?
- 9:20[SPEAKER_01]: If not, like, you still have a little runway here to develop them and see what becomes them.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_01]: And I think developing young quarterbacks is always good business, whether it works out or not, right?
- 9:32[SPEAKER_01]: Now, here's my problem.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_01]: the way you have to play JJ right now to get the most out of them.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if he can if he can survive that, you know, because he.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_01]: The offense is set up for Jackson Dart and that offense should work for JJ McCarthy RPOs moving the pocket high as athleticism.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_01]: But Jackson Darts now get it gotten hurt repeatedly, playing in that offense and Jackson Darts a bigger thicker guy, JJ and JJ has injury history, so you're looking at a guy and it's like there's like all these competing things with JJ and this is the problem I have with it.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_01]: is, on one hand, he should sit for a little while and learn.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_01]: On the other hand, he needs the game reps, right?
- 10:22[SPEAKER_01]: So you need some combination of let him take a breath, let him learn the offense, and then eventually he's going to need the game reps, and so you're going to need to sink game reps in to develop him.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_01]: And then if you play him away, that's going to get him confident and get him like maybe that gets him hurt.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_01]: So that's the part of it where I would be with you, where this could be a tougher cell.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_00]: Here's my problem.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_00]: It's, okay, it's January or it's, so JJ McCarthy has he comes in and December, whatever it is.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, the giant's kind of fall off the tracks here.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_00]: They're whatever, four and eight.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_00]: And
- 11:03[SPEAKER_00]: JJ McCarthy comes in in December and plays one pretty good game or two pretty good games towards the end of the year like nothing spectacular but enough for you like okay you know this guy's clearly got something it's not like he didn't have that sample size of Minnesota.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_00]: Jackson Dart is rehabbing he gets healthy, January 28th, 2027.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_00]: First day training camp both of these quarterbacks walk out onto the field what are the beat writers doing.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_01]: charting.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_01]: Chartions.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_01]: Attallations.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_01]: Touchdown.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_01]: Captions.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_01]: Captions.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_00]: Passorating between JJ McCarthy and Jackson Dart.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_00]: Jackson Darts are started.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: They say everyone says Jackson Darts are starter.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_00]: It's ridiculous to say that JJ McCarthy's not the starter.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_00]: OK. Jackson Darts getting over an injury.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_00]: First week is September.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_00]: Jackson Dart throws two picks in the season opener.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_00]: What's the cover the New York Post look like?
- 11:57[SPEAKER_00]: is JJ McCarthy's face on it.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 11:59[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm saying, and here's why I don't like it.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_00]: And I get, and I'll put on my John Harba costume and tell you why it's gonna work in a second.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_00]: But here's why I don't think it's gonna work.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_00]: Jim and Jackson are the same age.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_00]: Jim and Jackson are both first round picks.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_00]: Jackson, I think, is so determined and competitive that he wanted to get back onto the field with this MCL injury last Monday night, right?
- 12:27[SPEAKER_00]: How do you think he feels now about a guy in trying to come into a locker room and assume
- 12:35[SPEAKER_00]: the role that he has right like that's he's an alpha dog quarterback like that's my room these are my guys you know and now you got JJ McCartney's a poor man's like Troy Eggman's Steve Walsh you know I I'm a very poor man's right man's Steve Walsh right yeah but like to to set the stage for that I think creates mass discomfort because I think what Harba doesn't
- 13:02[SPEAKER_00]: is the market and I don't think anybody does until they get hit with it the first time, but
- 13:10[SPEAKER_00]: Why did Ben Mackadoo get fired?
- 13:12[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_00]: Because he was a bad coach, he made the playoffs in his first year.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_00]: The second year, he tried to do what?
- 13:18[SPEAKER_00]: Bench Eli Manning for Gino Smith, because he thought Gino Smith had more upside.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_00]: He was right.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_00]: But he did a really bad job selling that in a market that takes their quarterback play and their quarterback that they love very seriously.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_00]: People love Jackson dark.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_00]: know, I think this is a, you know, whatever.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_00]: My, the feedback that I got from Giants fans was mixed from my column.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_00]: I heard a lot of people saying exactly like why we bringing this guy in, why didn't we just beg Jimmy Garoppolo or why didn't we trade for Justin Fields or whatever, whatever, whatever.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_00]: Um, you know, Justin Fields is only 27.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_00]: I think that guy's just got upside.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_00]: But, um,
- 13:56[SPEAKER_00]: Let's neither here nor there.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_00]: I think that you're creating, you're laying the ground work and the bridge for some emotional issues.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_00]: But here's what John Harba would say.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_00]: John Harba is a constant believer that people can come together.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_00]: John Harba envisions Jackson Dart and J. J. McCarthy helping one another out.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_00]: He envisions a world where the two of them become best friends.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_00]: And in two years, J. J. McCarthy's a tradable asset that ends up netting them something higher than a fifth round pick.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_00]: right and Jackson Darts still the quarterback of the Giants.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_00]: That's the world that he lives in.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_00]: I just don't know if you don't have that much time to trade.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_00]: Jim McCarthy, you have one, you have one more year.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you have a year and a half.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_01]: Which, I mean,
- 14:38[SPEAKER_01]: I could see that.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_01]: Like I could see if JJ plays decent and they still have James went to the contract for next year, right?
- 14:45[SPEAKER_01]: Because they sent them to the extension where like at the end of the year, he flashes a little bit, maybe you can turn them into maybe you can get the fifth round pick back, maybe you can get a fourth, you know, like I think that's certainly within the realm of possibility.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_01]: I think
- 15:03[SPEAKER_00]: there are a lot of people that would agree with Steve Smith.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_01]: And so we'll see, you know what I mean?
- 15:09[SPEAKER_01]: Like there are people in the league that would agree that with Steve Smith that like he's just, he's just not what the Viking study was coming out, you know?
- 15:18[SPEAKER_01]: And I still think there's potential there.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_01]: I also think this.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's the, I think if he could dial back
- 15:31[SPEAKER_01]: some of the, like over the top stuff last year, right?
- 15:35[SPEAKER_01]: Like he is the right kind of person.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's important, right?
- 15:40[SPEAKER_01]: Like, and I think that's why John talking to Jim about him is relevant here, because Jim would not lie to John, you know, regardless of what they say publicly.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_01]: And we know what Jim says about all of his quarterbacks.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_01]: He would not lie to John.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_01]: And so John going through with this and John,
- 16:00[SPEAKER_01]: I think that the climate within his team and everything else would be cognizant of it.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_01]: I think JJ McCarthy is tough.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_01]: He's a hard worker.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_01]: Like he he wants to be great.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_01]: He's competitive as hell.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_01]: And by the way, he was very popular in that Vikings locker room, right?
- 16:18[SPEAKER_01]: Despite what happened and despite things going the wrong way, he was really well-liked there.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_01]: So
- 16:25[SPEAKER_01]: Like I do think that's part of the equation, too.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_01]: Like how is he gonna react to this?
- 16:30[SPEAKER_01]: How is he gonna fight his way out of it?
- 16:31[SPEAKER_01]: I think JJ has got all the right stuff when it comes to being able to get him out and get himself out of this.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_01]: Now whether he's good or not, when he's good enough or not, that's a different question.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_00]: I'll push back on very well-liked.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_00]: I think it was well-liked.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_01]: No, I mean, he was part of, I mean, this team is like them.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, there were, there were instances where, you know, you're, you know, I think the nine thing rubbed some people down there.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_01]: No, that, that, that, that cost some eye rolling, but I think that was more, I would say that was more like a young kid doesn't know what he doesn't know type of thing, you know what I mean, like, hey, that, that sort of thing, like at this level, like, you know.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_01]: We have guys who are like driving home to their families at the end of the at the end of the day here like that's that's not what this is you know what I mean like so I do think that it was that there was some of that for sure.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, let's pivot over to the Joey Porter trade because again, I mean, JJ McCarthy will see you know, it's probably going to take a few weeks for him to crack the lineup, but I think James Winston can do the all time James Winston thing, which is holding off for three weeks by throwing for four hundo.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_00]: the next couple of games they got to go away like I would say this too.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_01]: I know there are people in New York that like the minute something goes wrong are going to be screaming at the top of that along was to put JJ McCarthy in there.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_01]: I would say that would not be that would not be smart.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_01]: I think they need to give JJ at least a month before they even think about putting him in the game.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_00]: I agree.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_00]: If you're open the fridge and you stare at it for like five minutes and then you just give up and you're like, ah, I'm going to order take out.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like I do that way too often.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_00]: And honestly, one thing that's helped me avoid it is just having good stuff ready to go in the freezer.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_00]: That's why I've been using butcher box.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_00]: But your box delivers 100% grass-fed beef, organic chicken, wild caught seafood, and more, all source to standards they can actually tell you about.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_00]: They've done the research, they've made the tough sourcing decisions, and all you've got to do is figure out what you're in the mood for, and I like that you can customize the box, because I'm pretty predictable with what I actually eat.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_00]: I'll keep some burgers, some chicken, and some steak stock, and then when I get home and don't feel like going out or spending money,
- 18:57[SPEAKER_00]: I can just grab something from the freezer, and I'm good at my last sort of guys.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_00]: I got the filet, I got the bacon, I got the wild caught salmon, it was out of this world.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_00]: I made a bunch of different meals with it, but honestly, sometimes the best part is just having something there.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_00]: You don't have to make dinner into this whole production, throw some chicken on the grill, make some burgers, whatever, and you're done.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_00]: it's basically like having your own neighborhood butcher, except you don't have to leave the house.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_00]: So if you're trying to make dinner a little easier and keep some really good protein on hand, check out butcherbox.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_00]: It's definitely become one of those things I like having around, because it makes the whole one of my eating tonight decision a lot easier.

- 19:57[SPEAKER_00]: That's butcherbox.com slash mmqb.
- 20:00[SPEAKER_00]: Again, that's butcherbox.com slash mmqb.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_00]: Be sure to use that link because then they'll know we sent you.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_00]: I thought there'd be now Jerry Jones said there's nothing more dangerous than an old man with money.
- 20:20[SPEAKER_00]: There's nothing more expensive than he here.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I didn't spend it.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_00]: It was two picks.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_00]: You know, this is, I mean, you talk about someone in the frying pan early, Christian Parker now gets another asset.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_00]: I still don't think this defense is quite where it needs to be, but to get him a really strong, aggressive cover corner in Joey Porter.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_00]: uh, to extract him from that situation in Pittsburgh.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's, it's kind of a do or die moment for this cowboy's defense that just hasn't seemed to lift off the ground despite the coordinator change.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_01]: So can I say this?
- 20:57[SPEAKER_01]: Even though they're, even though they're, what do they want into, right?
- 21:02[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's a superball team.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_01]: I think I think, I didn't
- 21:11[SPEAKER_01]: So that's why I would sign off on doing this because I do think they have suitable potential now it's a different conversation when we're talking about like the totality of everything over the last 14 months and
- 21:41[SPEAKER_01]: Quentin Williams and Kenny Clark coming through it, right?
- 21:44[SPEAKER_01]: So you have that, you have the picks involved.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_01]: It's a major, major, major rebuild.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_01]: When you're talking about going through flipping your veteran infrastructure, I still think a lot of where they go defensively is gonna depend on the younger guys that are homegrown.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so can devart Demarvi and Oversha on start to look like himself again.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_01]: Jerry Sean Barnham is somebody that they thought really highly of of can't and can't and he's starting to make plays and he's kind of one of these like hybrids that can toggle off the line on the line.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_01]: So I think like he could wind up being a really valuable player for them.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_01]: Caleb Downs is already one of the best players in their defense and I think he might wind up being the best player on their defense by the end of the year, and then what do you get on from out of Donovan as a rock because I think like Sean Gary is what he is at this point, so like if someone's going to really change the past rush, it's going to be as a rock I think.
- 22:45[SPEAKER_01]: You know, so like I think those four guys barn him over Sean downs and and as a rock who I think are going to set the ceiling for the defense.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_01]: I think what Porter does is he raises the floor.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_00]: I I always wonder though Albert like this is an interesting thing like put you know the cow owners are very real problem for them.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_00]: Corner was a very real problem for them.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_00]: you keep stacking your bringing talent, your bringing talent.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_00]: But ultimately, you know, is the scheme freeing these guys up to make plays and play well, right?
- 23:22[SPEAKER_00]: Because you look at like,
- 23:25[SPEAKER_00]: Seattle's defense at the end of the Pete Carroll era versus the beginning of the Mike McDonald there.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't a lot of change, right?
- 23:32[SPEAKER_00]: Except for how you envision the roles of the players.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_00]: And Mike, Sean Gary, like you said, you know, like I think in a lot of these cases, like especially with the Cowboys defense, we're looking at it in terms of like, okay, how consistently can these guys win on one-on-one situations?
- 23:48[SPEAKER_00]: But it's also look around the league.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_00]: How many times are the Vikings past wrestlers in one on one situation is they're like on one on none situations right I mean like a and so I do think that the charge for Christian Parker is not only to elevate the total play the defense but like you know let's let's let's get something let's develop a fast ball maybe the security of a corner back who can play that way.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_00]: Um, it will help them out a little bit.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_00]: But boy, I mean, I, I like the move, though, because I, I, Jerry Jones walks around and it grades me to know and Albert that, that, that, you know, I'm going to do everything I can.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to do everything I can.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_00]: The last two years that seem to be largely true, right?
- 24:32[SPEAKER_00]: Like where?
- 24:34[SPEAKER_00]: the micoparsans trade kind of triggered a series of makeup emergency trades where it was like well hold on wait a minute like I can't just deal this guy because I don't want to pay him like I do have to make up for this in the intern and kind of recreate him in the aggregate and he has done that now you can argue and I've heard some fascinating arguments on both sides of the coin here as to whether you should have or shouldn't have traded micoparsans I didn't
- 25:03[SPEAKER_00]: He's trying, you know, I give him credit like this is the first era of Jerry Jones running his mouth where he's actually somewhat tried to back it up by being aggressive on the on the market.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I mean, I guess and in this case, like I think it's it's seeing what you have, right?
- 25:23[SPEAKER_01]: And they've got like a lot of like key free agents too.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_01]: So, there's someone certainly in what it's going to look like beyond this year, you know, like what happens with George Pickins, do you tag him again?
- 25:33[SPEAKER_01]: If you have to tag George Pickins, what happens with Joey Porter, there are like a bunch of questions on where the team goes from here, you know?
- 25:44[SPEAKER_01]: And I do think like offensively,
- 25:48[SPEAKER_01]: I think they have a championship level offense.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_01]: Dac has played really well through the first three weeks this year.
- 25:54[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I don't know.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, like I just think like looking at like the way Dac was talking before the year, the way Jerry's narrative has sort of changed a little bit.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_01]: Like to me like this matches up with all that.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_00]: Cowboys get the Houston Texans this weekend and we got that one.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, is that not a big game?
- 26:16[SPEAKER_00]: Let's start there like we do every week.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_01]: What about the stealer side of this?
- 26:20[SPEAKER_01]: What do you think?
- 26:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we'll quickly um so
- 26:24[SPEAKER_00]: With Pittsburgh, I mean, I can't figure this team out.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_00]: And the one thing that I would go back to is that Patrick Graham is a lot like Brian Flores and that this defense is non-traditional.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_00]: He's done it before without great cover corners.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_00]: It's more of a, you know, I hate the term for it, but it's like that gorilla style defense
- 26:54[SPEAKER_00]: to what Brian Flores is doing now in Minnesota, probably like a little bit of a tone down version of it.
- 26:59[SPEAKER_00]: Pat Graham is doing a lot of interesting things, schematically around the league.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_00]: I had one coach tell me about how.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_00]: he was kind of the now you come to the line with two play calls right in case they're under center and if they're under center you kind of you'll drop certain players into the zone you'll bring your safety down all this different stuff like Pat's got it it's just you know and you will always take another great cover corner but maybe if you're Mike McCarthy if you're Pat if you're
- 27:28[SPEAKER_00]: You know, everybody, it's like, do I just not want the headache?
- 27:31[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, this is kind of an egalitarian society.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_00]: The Steelers locker room a lot of vests.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_00]: I would say probably just like get out of here.
- 27:38[SPEAKER_01]: I would just say this.
- 27:38[SPEAKER_01]: I think I've got an untenable yesterday.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's just kind of like reachable on the point yesterday and and you know I would say you're talking about the shift in the injury report correct yes he was healthy and then all of a sudden it said he was out with a a back injury right and I would just tell you that like
- 27:59[SPEAKER_01]: their this thing had been simmering but it reached the boiling point yesterday and I would also tell you that the Steelers were the aggressor in this move like so this wasn't like the cowboys calling you know I just think and and look the Steelers offered I think a pretty decent deal I didn't they were in the high 20s and
- 28:21[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I got out.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think Joey Porter wanted whether spoon or against all, he just wanted to be close, you know, so he wanted to be in the 30s.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_01]: So it's not like there was this like massive golf.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_01]: But that divide the Steelers policy about not not negotiating in season.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_01]: And then I think to some degree, the trust gets broken, where it's like, we don't know what we're dealing with the rest of the year.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_01]: We just can't go forward with this on a week to week basis.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, a few teams did inquired Steelers circle back with the MESRA and the deal gets done.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_00]: I wonder, do you think, I mean, it became untenable, but just really quickly done.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_00]: Do we think that they could have, I don't know, taken this to market and gotten a little more?
- 29:05[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, I, I don't, I do, this is probably as much as you're gonna get.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he's not in a contract past this year.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, like so, but that's the thing that people don't, that's, that's the thing that people don't realize, you know?
- 29:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, is that like it's your true you're trading contracts you're not just trading players you're trading contracts and so I need to get a second one out pick for I need to get a second round pick for you know having a guy in a contract for the next three months is is not bad value.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_00]: Joey Porter comes to the Dallas Cowboys were Jerry Jones's famous for getting those deals done on time and it market value.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_00]: Good luck with that one.
- 29:45[SPEAKER_00]: Hope you hope you got your agent ready to roll.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_00]: Let's get into the previews.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_00]: I mentioned it a second ago.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_00]: The first game that I'm going to talk about here and they're better games, but I don't think in terms of stakes.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_00]: There is a higher stakes game this weekend than the Owen three Texans against the one in two Dallas Cowboys and I have a staff for you Albert that I absolutely love and this is going to blow your mind, okay?
- 30:14[SPEAKER_00]: There is a composite stat of luck adjusted place.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_00]: So like, okay, you drop a big pass in the end zone.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_00]: You drop an interception.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_00]: You don't get the fumble, yada yada yada, right?
- 30:28[SPEAKER_00]: And there are teams that are getting a tremendous amount of boost from this.
- 30:33[SPEAKER_00]: And then there are the Houston Texans.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_00]: who if you combine all luck adjusted occurrences have a negative 96% wind differential that is triple the next horse team in the league.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_00]: So yes Houston is not playing well.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_00]: Their offense does not look like it's functioning well.
- 30:54[SPEAKER_00]: The defense doesn't have the teeth that it has last year.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_00]: They have also been in most of these games and have been historically unlucky.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_00]: and I'm wondering if the tide finally turns for them here against the Cowboys this weekend.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's obviously a desperate spot for the Texans and you know, I think we have heaped a lot of the blame on the offense and rightfully so they have played well offensively, but the defense hasn't been great either, you know, and so the defense in the opener
- 31:31[SPEAKER_01]: you get it, it's Josh Allen.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_01]: They have a a passable job against Joe Burrow in the Cincinnati Bengals in in in in we too.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_01]: I think
- 31:41[SPEAKER_01]: Letting the colds off the hook at the end of that game, like that's where it's a little bit like, okay, like there's gotta be, maybe there's like a little bit of a will Anderson, Matt Burke, you know, whoever the guy in the front of the room is, those would be the first two names that would come to mind, maybe it's Demiko.
- 31:59[SPEAKER_01]: Come to Jesus, like, this isn't who we are.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_01]: Guys, I couldn't get out of my head that Lequan Treadwell had like the, basically the game one and catch against them.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I'll do respect, try well, a story is great, but like that's what you let happen.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's how it happened.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, I, I think this is, I'm really interested to see what the Texans defense comes out looking like against a really, really, really good cowboy's offense, you know, and do they come out with a hair across the rest?
- 32:33[SPEAKER_01]: And I can relate this to the day I was a camp with them, right?
- 32:36[SPEAKER_01]: Where I was, you know, I had talked with a bunch of the offensive
- 32:41[SPEAKER_01]: You know, they were like, yeah, you know, we've played them to, we've played them to a standstill, you know what I mean?
- 32:47[SPEAKER_01]: Like, and like, the, the, the offensive coach really excited because it's like, this is the great thing about having a great defense is that like you get to practice against them every day.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_01]: And I remember one of them saying like, yeah, but we know it's coming tomorrow.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 33:02[SPEAKER_01]: Like, and it was like, and then it happened and I talked to Will Anderson after the practice and he was like, yep, he's like, we know what time it was, you know, and it was time to reassure ourselves.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_01]: And so I would think that those sorts of conversations
- 33:24[SPEAKER_01]: It's, is this the game where the Texans defense just chokes somebody out?
- 33:28[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 33:29[SPEAKER_01]: Like, and takes matters into their own hands, and that's what's so interesting about it.
- 33:34[SPEAKER_00]: I think the one thing and we've seen throughout the beginning.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_01]: Because if they get through this one by the way, like they've got a big game with the Jaguars in week six, right?
- 33:45[SPEAKER_01]: And that's overseas, again,
- 33:50[SPEAKER_01]: So they have a Titans and the Giants in weeks five and seven.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_01]: So potentially, if you win this one, if you can beat the Jaguars, you're looking at potentially going into your buy for in three and being okay.
- 34:05[SPEAKER_00]: They're just simply a team that needs to go down three games before they figure out what's wrong with them.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_00]: They just need to go on three.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_00]: Dallas's rushing offense has left a lot to be desired and that while not the complete story of the of the Houston Texan season two of the three losses came against teams that run the ball exceptionally well and not necessarily against Houston, but that run the ball exceptionally well, I think that this
- 34:46[SPEAKER_00]: you have the sticky corners to handle CDLM and George Pickens.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_00]: You have the pass rush to take advantage of it.
- 34:54[SPEAKER_00]: And if you're not necessarily scared by Dallas's running game, like you said, this is the game.
- 34:59[SPEAKER_00]: This is the Texan's defense game.
- 35:01[SPEAKER_00]: I hope I'm right.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, my God, I hope I'm right.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_00]: Give me another one you're looking at this weekend, Albert.
- 35:08[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 35:09[SPEAKER_01]: And my, like, massive amount of preparation and pulling out the schedule now.
- 35:16[SPEAKER_01]: So, I think Ram's Eagles, huge.
- 35:21[SPEAKER_01]: I really,
- 35:23[SPEAKER_01]: Again, this is another one where both teams are coming off of a loss, both teams, but I think the two teams look different.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 35:32[SPEAKER_01]: Like I think the Rams looked just fine against the Broncos and, you know, we're talking about them differently if the referees get a call right.
- 35:43[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 35:43[SPEAKER_01]: If Josh Wallace picks off that ball, we're talking about that totally differently.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_01]: I thought Stafford was great that game Stafford gave him a shot at the end when they probably shouldn't have had one.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_01]: right and I think you're starting to see what the Rams are going to become.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_01]: The Eagles on the other hand I'm starting to have my concerns about and this is what I mean before the year I told you that I thought that there was a chance they level off.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_01]: So now you lose land and Dickerson on the offensive line.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_01]: The offensive line was not great against a good, but not great bears defensive front, right?
- 36:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_01]: And...
- 36:25[SPEAKER_01]: the run games coming along but jail and hurts didn't look very good on Monday night so now short week coming back there's going to be a ton of pressure my buddy Jeff McLean had the report on jail and Carter dealing with of his online fracture yeah hairline fracture so
- 36:40[SPEAKER_01]: This is like one of those critical points where I think the Eagles could feel start to feel the whole Philly dynamic, you know, the it's different playing in Philadelphia thing because I think the Rams could come in here like a like a freight train.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like I think the Rams could come into this game, like we're coming in here with something to prove.
- 37:04[SPEAKER_01]: We're not messing around anymore.
- 37:07[SPEAKER_01]: And I again, like I look at it like I
- 37:13[SPEAKER_01]: This is, I think this is, I think this is a really interesting game for a lot of different reasons.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_01]: Can the Rams sort of show to us who they are after a weird first three weeks?
- 37:26[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it's a referendum on where the Eagles are.
- 37:29[SPEAKER_01]: Because I don't think we've seen, I think as far as like what we're looking at through three games, I mean, they struggle to beat the commanders.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_01]: They struggle to beat the Titans.
- 37:39[SPEAKER_01]: They go blown out by the bears.
- 37:42[SPEAKER_01]: Um, so they're two and one, but we're like, I, like, this is like, this is a very, very, very important spot for them.
- 37:55[SPEAKER_00]: These, the second half thing for Philadelphia is unbelievable.
- 38:00[SPEAKER_00]: And if you haven't looked into the numbers on this,
- 38:03[SPEAKER_00]: the team just craters after halftime weekend and week out.
- 38:09[SPEAKER_00]: And this was especially prevalent against the bears.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_00]: You know, we had Seiko and Barkley on fire in the first half of that game.
- 38:18[SPEAKER_00]: And then in the second half, six total carries for 32 yards, a 20% rushing success rate.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_00]: If you look at it through the course of the season,
- 38:30[SPEAKER_00]: In the first half, the Eagles are 12th in rushing success rate.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_00]: They're 30th in the second half.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_00]: They're 8th in EPA, per Rush in the first half, 30th in the second half.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_00]: They're 7th in yards, per Rush in the first half, 22nd in yards, per Rush in the second half, 11th in EPA, per total play in the first half, 31st in the second half.
- 38:50[SPEAKER_01]: So what do you want to be with that, too?
- 38:52[SPEAKER_00]: Well, it's a couple things.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_00]: Against the Bears,
- 38:55[SPEAKER_00]: They found a really nice disguised blitz structure that I thought through Jalen Hurt's office spot a couple times and I think one time it almost led to a really bad pick.
- 39:07[SPEAKER_00]: I'm wondering if it could be two things.
- 39:12[SPEAKER_00]: One, I mean, our people getting, is this offense to offensive line two old, right?
- 39:19[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, are they too worn down?
- 39:22[SPEAKER_00]: Do they not have the juice in the second half that they need to or,
- 39:26[SPEAKER_00]: are you not making the necessary adjustments that you need to make and our teams picking up on stuff over the course of the first half because this is domino effect.
- 39:35[SPEAKER_00]: Lane Johnson said in the locker room I was watching the interview that he gave earlier.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_00]: I think after the game that like it destroys the defense too because it's a lot of three announced on the offense.
- 39:45[SPEAKER_00]: The defense is gas.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_00]: They still have to go back out on the field and they're not playing well.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know what it is.
- 39:56[SPEAKER_00]: St. Juan Barclays kind of a part-time player now thing.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's it's probably a cocktail of all those things, right?
- 40:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 40:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 40:04[SPEAKER_01]: And it's it's just.
- 40:09[SPEAKER_01]: I like I think where their identity was founded the last however many, I mean, forever, you know.
- 40:19[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't sense the predominant in those areas anymore.
- 40:22[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like, as the offensive line is dominant as it once was, and Jordan Malata and Lane Johnson are great, but they're both in their 30s.
- 40:30[SPEAKER_01]: Lane Johnson is well into his 30s.
- 40:32[SPEAKER_01]: The interior of the offensive line is very makeshift right now.
- 40:36[SPEAKER_01]: The defensive line again, you got jail and Carter dealing with the injury.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_01]: How good are you on the edges?
- 40:42[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you know, you know, I argue they're feeling the loss of jail and Phil.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_01]: So they tried to get back, right?
- 40:47[SPEAKER_01]: Like, but is the Jonathan Gnard thing working out like as known Smith enough?
- 40:52[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's just like these areas where they've typically been really, really good.
- 40:58[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not saying they're not bad in those areas, but it's not the strength that one's was.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_01]: And I think this is again, if I had to guess, I almost think the Rams run away with this one on Sunday.
- 41:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 41:18[SPEAKER_00]: And then we are thrilled into chaos once again in our beloved Philadelphia.
- 41:25[SPEAKER_00]: There's nothing like people getting a little hot under the collar a couple of games into the season here and putting Nick Serianny's back up against, well, by the way.
- 41:35[SPEAKER_00]: all time next year.
- 41:35[SPEAKER_00]: I need to perform some on it.
- 41:37[SPEAKER_00]: I football.
- 41:38[SPEAKER_00]: We were able to talk about him because of the because of the timing of the taping schedule, but if you don't know what I'm talking about, go look back at some of the sideline shots him after Jalen Hurts gets hurt and to call our old boss Peter King now.
- 41:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, duh.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_01]: Not a word
- 42:05[SPEAKER_00]: I'll say this, that this is why.
- 42:10[SPEAKER_00]: there's no other coach quite like Nick because he can't help himself.
- 42:18[SPEAKER_00]: He physically, his body, there is no mechanism from the thought that, hey, I should go scream this at another player and the action and that's what I think makes, I mean, Jalen, Jalen hurts had to stop Nick
- 42:37[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think we'll have another coach like Nick Seria in my lifetime, and part of it is like you got to have to look at it while we still got it and say, wow, this is, this is a really interesting thing we got here.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_00]: Next game that I want to talk about, I want to draw on your New England expertise here Albert is the Patriots.
- 42:58[SPEAKER_00]: and the bills of Buffalo.
- 43:00[SPEAKER_00]: Nothing that I see from New England looks like they are going to get in the way of this bill's freight train, and it's not just Drake May, but I want to talk about Drake May, but before I do, the Patriots rushing defense has got awful.
- 43:14[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you know, and the Buffalo bill's rushing offense is awesome.
- 43:18[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, I think that could decide the
- 43:25[SPEAKER_00]: Here's another thing, the bills third down, third and long defense is awful, right?
- 43:30[SPEAKER_00]: But I don't think that's gonna matter in this situation either, because Drake, I don't know, man, like this whole thing feels like a mess and I don't know whether that whole white noise report about, you know, variable and may being at odds, I don't know if there's any smoke to the fire or fire to the smoke or whatever it is out there,
- 43:55[SPEAKER_00]: It just looks broken.
- 43:56[SPEAKER_00]: I'm surprised at how much it fell off.
- 43:59[SPEAKER_00]: And it doesn't do the Patriots, any favors in terms of this narrative that they're trying to battle against, that last year's schedule was just incredibly generous to them.
- 44:08[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it's like, I would say like Mike's got a really high level of emotional intelligence and knows how to handle young players in these sorts of situations.
- 44:17[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't think the relationship between he and Drake is bad.
- 44:21[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's a really good relationship and has been a really good relationship.
- 44:25[SPEAKER_01]: I would say like I don't I don't I don't know
- 44:32[SPEAKER_01]: Any other way to explain where Drake is other than he's going to have to play himself out of this, you know, and like I think it's
- 44:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's like we talked about on Monday and like I don't I'm not going to go through the whole thing again, but basically easy schedule last year, they're able to throw a lot of unscathed looks at defenses because Josh has never had a quarterback like Drake, so they're able to catch defenses on their heels.
- 44:56[SPEAKER_01]: Drake's able to get defensive with his athleticism then the competition ratches up like three levels in the playoff for the playing great defensive cut play callers great defensive personnel.
- 45:06[SPEAKER_01]: And, and now there's a book on him, you know, and now it's, don't let him out of the pocket, zone pressure,
- 45:17[SPEAKER_01]: Protect over the top for some to go 12 plays and there's a good chance he's going to screw it up somewhere along the way.
- 45:25[SPEAKER_01]: And so he's going to have to he has to win a different way.
- 45:27[SPEAKER_01]: That's all it is.
- 45:28[SPEAKER_01]: He's got to win a different way.
- 45:30[SPEAKER_01]: And Kenny do it.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_01]: And that's the question now.
- 45:33[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, I think back to like Carson once, early in his career in Philly and his people forget how spectacular he was that second year.
- 45:40[SPEAKER_01]: You know, where he could have won the MVP.
- 45:43[SPEAKER_01]: he didn't adjust and then he got beat up and then it was sort of over right there are been other guys who fought through it and it wasn't always perfect with Josh Allen early in his career but Josh Allen was able to fight through it so what are you you know and I think that's sort of the question that's probably got to be rattling around somewhere and Drake may his head is you know where do we go from here and like I think this week could make it difficult
- 46:14[SPEAKER_01]: Jim Leonard, that defense is flawed.
- 46:16[SPEAKER_01]: The Buffalo Devens is flawed.
- 46:18[SPEAKER_01]: They're struggling a little bit in the secondary, but can the Patriots without AJ Brown make them pay for that?
- 46:25[SPEAKER_01]: And if they can't, and if they can't, and Jim Leonard can get creative, and the Patriots aren't able to run the ball consistently, if Jim Leonard can start to get creative, I think you can start to see some of the same things reflecting Drake that have flucted them, the first three weeks this season.
- 46:43[SPEAKER_01]: Because I will say this, like Buffalo watching them, they're not great defensively, they're very fast.
- 46:49[SPEAKER_01]: And they do it.
- 46:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 46:50[SPEAKER_01]: You know, and like they do a lot to free up roots so in the past rush at all,
- 47:02[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's got a chance over the course of the year to evolve into a pretty good defense and based on the way that the trade struggled, and Jim Leonard's background, and remember Jim Leonard played against the Josh McDangles offense, right?
- 47:15[SPEAKER_01]: Like when he was with Rex Ryan and New York, I just think it's like a really interesting dynamic.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_00]: It's being resurfaced now and I think some of the numbers lack proper context, but Drake may in the playoffs against all better opponents, right, against the Jesse Minner defense.
- 47:33[SPEAKER_00]: They won 16 to three, one touchdown, one interception, and 86 quarterback rating and he was sacked five times, right, against the Houston Texans, 59% completion percentage.
- 47:51[SPEAKER_00]: The New England Denver game you throw out because yes, it was a 47% completion percentage.
- 47:58[SPEAKER_00]: It was a 58 quarterback rating, but that was in a goddamn snow globe.
- 48:02[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that game was insane.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_00]: You and I were both sitting there watching it in person.
- 48:06[SPEAKER_00]: How, you know, just I'll never forget that.
- 48:09[SPEAKER_00]: But then in the Super Bowl, 27 of 43, 295 yards, two touchdowns, two picks of 79 quarterback
- 48:19[SPEAKER_00]: There's a chicken of the egg game we can play here about the offensive line, but there is a belief that like, here's Drake may sample size against elite competition.
- 48:29[SPEAKER_00]: There it is.
- 48:30[SPEAKER_00]: It's a four game, three game, four game sample size against the kind of elite competition that is more going to make up the Patriots schedule this year than last year.
- 48:39[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm not, I'm not one of those guys.
- 48:42[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, well, is this who he is?
- 48:43[SPEAKER_00]: Of course not.
- 48:44[SPEAKER_00]: Drake may blew me away during his rookie season on a dog shit Patriots team that was so bad and was worse than all of its opponents and Drake may play to buff that consistently for a year.
- 48:56[SPEAKER_00]: He's just got to find that within himself again.
- 48:59[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 49:00[SPEAKER_00]: And that's why I'm, I'm saying it over and over and over again and I feel like I'm being a jerk but this is a Mike Rabel issue.
- 49:07[SPEAKER_00]: It's a mic-frable issue.
- 49:08[SPEAKER_00]: And if you're going to accept all of the praise that you got last year for being the genius and being the guy who knows how to relate to everybody in the interpersonal guru, you got to get in there in a room with your quarterback and you got to fix it.
- 49:24[SPEAKER_00]: That's a you thing.
- 49:25[SPEAKER_00]: You're a CEO head coach, right?
- 49:27[SPEAKER_00]: That falls exactly.
- 49:28[SPEAKER_00]: And by the way, then you'll think this is a mic-frable thing.
- 49:32[SPEAKER_01]: And by the way, I don't buy that a defensive coach can't do that.
- 49:35[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, you know, look, John Harba was the coach for Lamar Jackson.
- 49:42[SPEAKER_01]: Sean McDermott was the coach for Josh Allen.
- 49:45[SPEAKER_01]: Pete Carroll was the coach for Russell Wilson.
- 49:48[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we can go right on down the list.
- 49:50[SPEAKER_01]: Bill Belichek was the coach for Tom Brady, Peyton Manning played for Jim Mora and Tony Dongee for his first what decade in the league, right?
- 50:00[SPEAKER_01]: This has been, like, I think in some ways having a defensive coach can be an advantage, you know?
- 50:07[SPEAKER_01]: Now, like, there's the obvious disadvantages to it, but I don't buy that, like, that would be, that's what the problem is here.
- 50:15[SPEAKER_01]: And I do think, like, for Drake, like, again, like, he's another one, I think he's made of the right stuff.
- 50:22[SPEAKER_01]: It's just, can you adjust the way you play?
- 50:27[SPEAKER_01]: Can you play a different game?
- 50:29[SPEAKER_01]: Because that's the NFL.
- 50:31[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 50:32[SPEAKER_01]: The NFL is going to make you.
- 50:33[SPEAKER_01]: The NFL is going to stuck.
- 50:36[SPEAKER_01]: As an NFL player, they're going to see what you do well and they're going to take it away from you, you know, and then you have to adjust.
- 50:43[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's that's the part of of of of it for all young quarterbacks.
- 50:49[SPEAKER_01]: The people don't really can't really wrap their head around for one reason or another is like that there's this piece.
- 50:57[SPEAKER_01]: It's not linear, you know, like you you're going to do something well.
- 51:01[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to take it.
- 51:02[SPEAKER_01]: There's this constant cat mouse game that goes on.
- 51:05[SPEAKER_01]: You know, and eventually through that process, the ones who make it become so well rounded that there is no book on them.
- 51:11[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 51:11[SPEAKER_01]: There are so many things I can do to beat you now that like you're going to have to play me straight up and beat me, you know, and it's a process getting there.
- 51:19[SPEAKER_01]: And it's hard to get there too.
- 51:21[SPEAKER_01]: There's no guarantee that any of them are going to get there.
- 51:24[SPEAKER_00]: Give you one more before we get into one thing that I need to discuss, which is Mike Tomlin's Minecraft village.
- 51:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so I'm going to, the late window is actually pretty good this week, right?
- 51:38[SPEAKER_01]: So I want to take chief's writers, I really do.
- 51:46[SPEAKER_01]: But Denver San Francisco is sitting there for me.
- 51:50[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm going to take Denver San Francisco.
- 51:53[SPEAKER_01]: Because, man, like the Niners, there's three in O, they're already getting beat up.
- 51:59[SPEAKER_01]: They're older.
- 52:01[SPEAKER_01]: And I just think like when they punch the gas, they look as impressive as anybody.
- 52:07[SPEAKER_01]: And now they're getting high end opponent coming in there.
- 52:10[SPEAKER_01]: That one to me is like the one that I have circled as, if San Francisco can fight through this with the injuries they have and everything else,
- 52:21[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, man, what's going to knock them off track, you know?
- 52:24[SPEAKER_01]: So the Niners and the Broncos is a really, really interesting one.
- 52:30[SPEAKER_01]: And obviously, the Broncos is a test for them coming off the emotional high of Sunday night.
- 52:36[SPEAKER_00]: I am just wondering, I did a piece on which one of these surprise two and one, three and oh teams are real and which ones of them are not.
- 52:45[SPEAKER_00]: And I have a healthy amount of skepticism with the 49ers simply because I just don't know if this team can keep going this way.
- 52:55[SPEAKER_00]: And that's why I was saying, you know, like the injuries, it's just, you know, and the injuries in the age is what it is.
- 53:01[SPEAKER_00]: Denver should theoretically beat the brakes off of this team.
- 53:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, we can.
- 53:07[SPEAKER_00]: And again, that's not taking anything away from Brock Perti made the throw the year this season.
- 53:14[SPEAKER_00]: Brock Perti is playing better than any other quarterback in the NFL this season.
- 53:18[SPEAKER_00]: But now you're down to what at the receiver room.
- 53:22[SPEAKER_00]: I'm asking you this question because I don't know the answer like, is it, you know, and
- 53:28[SPEAKER_00]: I guess that's why Christian McAfrey is so valuable because he's so versatile and he changes the math for the defense because he's such an adept past catcher, same with George Kittle who's got wide receiver ability and route running ability and so you can you can work it in a lot of different ways and there's no one better than this at Kyle Shannon than Kyle Shannon, but Trent Williams again, like
- 53:51[SPEAKER_00]: He left and he's going to be fine and he's going to come back, but like Trent and I are the same age.
- 53:55[SPEAKER_00]: I know how I feel when I wake up.
- 53:57[SPEAKER_00]: You know, and like what at what point, you know, does this thing just kind of sputter to a finish?
- 54:04[SPEAKER_00]: And again, two or three wins and I'm not taking anything away from the 49ers.
- 54:09[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not.
- 54:10[SPEAKER_00]: The two of the three wins are against the dolphins and the cardinals and that week one victory over the Rams in in Australia where like the Rams just showed up the day before and it turned out to be the wrong move right and that team just looked like it was the got the doors blown off of them.
- 54:26[SPEAKER_00]: I just can't help being suspicious with this team and I do wonder if this is one of those wake up call games for the 49ers were Denver gets out to like a two touchdown lead here and everyone's like, okay, yep, I can see it now.
- 54:39[SPEAKER_01]: I would say this though, Brock Pertis playing awfully well, and I'm not sure he's getting enough credit for as well as he's playing, they lose Ricky Pierce all, they lose design spiraling, you know, kiddles coming back off the killies, I-
- 54:55[SPEAKER_01]: Like I think like the whole thing about Brock was like when he gets paid $55 million a year, okay, like can he be the kind of guy that lifts his teammates up, you know, that's the that the driver and the success of the team when he doesn't have a bunch of all stars around him, and I think we're sort of seeing that now.
- 55:15[SPEAKER_00]: How I mean, you know, it is an interesting test case scenario in terms of, you know, we can go back to the argument about Brock Party being the truly elite quarterback, does he belong in that sector of quarterbacks?
- 55:29[SPEAKER_00]: I think he does.
- 55:30[SPEAKER_00]: I've always been on that side of him.
- 55:33[SPEAKER_00]: But you can see now when everything breaks down and what Josh Allen is, for example.
- 55:39[SPEAKER_00]: Now we can see as the 49ers are kind of breaking down in real time, what does Brock Party become at the height of his powers, right?
- 55:47[SPEAKER_00]: He's seeing it really well this season.
- 55:49[SPEAKER_00]: This is a good year for him.
- 55:51[SPEAKER_00]: And we'll see if he can carry them on the Broncos side of it.
- 55:55[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I want to see more Davis Web.
- 55:58[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see more Davis Web coming out of this game plan.
- 56:00[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see more of his creativity baked into it.
- 56:03[SPEAKER_00]: I thought it was interesting.
- 56:04[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if he caught it that Kyle Shanahan suggested that Sean Payton is still very much involved in the calling of plates.
- 56:11[SPEAKER_00]: I'm wondering if I'm wondering what Davis thought of that comment and how ready to go,
- 56:19[SPEAKER_00]: Let's just do a quick one minor on the rest of these Albert before we get to I just I've one thought on the Mike Tomwood Minecraft village that I just have to get out there I've been spending all night cooking up this take and I'm excited to present it to you in theapolis at Washington.
- 56:36[SPEAKER_00]: That's the game at Tottenham hot spur in London, England.
- 56:39[SPEAKER_00]: Apparently can plenty of tickets available for that one.
- 56:43[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see what happens if we'll see what happens here.
- 56:45[SPEAKER_00]: This is a huge, this is a cult pivot, the season kind of gained up.
- 56:51[SPEAKER_00]: And I wonder if it's the precursor to my conspiracy theory Albu, which is that Marvin Harrison Jr. is not playing well because he wants to go play for his dad's team and he gets traded there at the deadline.
- 57:01[SPEAKER_00]: Carly, that's a good one.
- 57:02[SPEAKER_00]: Just pulls on.
- 57:03[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
- 57:05[SPEAKER_00]: That gets fun.
- 57:06[SPEAKER_01]: MHJ to the cults, which is really the idea of Harrison and Pierce, like, like, opposite each other, like, the size that you'd be dealing with there.
- 57:15[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe Harrison was just faking it and not wanting to be an Arizona the whole time.
- 57:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I actually don't mind the idea of that, like, that'd be, that'd be fun.
- 57:25[SPEAKER_01]: There's Jane Daniels play.
- 57:27[SPEAKER_01]: That's obviously going to be a storyline all week.
- 57:29[SPEAKER_01]: He's got a bulky brace on his left arm.
- 57:31[SPEAKER_01]: I think a lot of it's going to come down to his comfort level with the brace and whether or not he can go.
- 57:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's a, I think like watching.
- 57:42[SPEAKER_01]: I think seeing where Jane Daniels is with the injury, Beezy's going to be managing it the rest of the year, is an interesting subplot here when you put it against how well they play with Marcus Mario the last week, you know.
- 57:58[SPEAKER_01]: And I think with all these quarterbacks Drake, May, Caleb Williams, Marcus Mariota, we have to put the contracts piece of it.
- 58:07[SPEAKER_01]: like into the mix, right?
- 58:09[SPEAKER_01]: Like because that's part of the whole thing here is typically if you've got confidence in your young quarterback who is a high first round pick, he gets his contract after year three.
- 58:19[SPEAKER_01]: And so like this is like an interesting storyline with a Washington franchise that has a lot of moving parts and beat the world champ in the last week.
- 58:27[SPEAKER_01]: So I think what Jayden looks like in this game is gonna be pretty interesting.
- 58:32[SPEAKER_01]: If he plays, if he plays.
- 58:33[SPEAKER_00]: New York at Chicago just quickly on this one Ben Johnson is playing coy as of this moment with the starting quarterback.
- 58:42[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I see keep it all in with case key to me was excellent on Monday night.
- 58:47[SPEAKER_00]: But the jets are guarded with injuries in this one man.
- 58:50[SPEAKER_00]: This is a tough one.
- 58:51[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I think they're banged up a guard.
- 58:52[SPEAKER_00]: I think they got a tight end out.
- 58:54[SPEAKER_00]: I think they got a wide receiver out.
- 58:56[SPEAKER_00]: I wonder if this is where we start to kind of see the jets that we thought we were getting coming into the season.
- 59:03[SPEAKER_00]: And that's not to take away from the progress that they made.
- 59:06[SPEAKER_00]: this is a game that Ben Johnson might be able to undress them a little bit.
- 59:10[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville at Cincinnati Albert, what are you looking for here?
- 59:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's that's an interesting one.
- 59:16[SPEAKER_01]: I think like a lot of people would say an out of greed, like the Bengal sort of reverted to the old Bengals last week against Pittsburgh.
- 59:24[SPEAKER_01]: Still defense defense wasn't very good.
- 59:26[SPEAKER_01]: The offense let them down at the end of the game with the offensive line let them out down at the end of the game with the strip sack,
- 59:36[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and say it's a hiccup sounds like Dexter Lawrence who's become a leader there.
- 59:42[SPEAKER_01]: It's gotten after those guys a little bit this week.
- 59:45[SPEAKER_01]: So consensus and how do we establish who it is who they who they are.
- 59:50[SPEAKER_01]: And man, I mean Jackson Mill Outside a outside a week to like they look great week one they look great great week three
- 1:00:01[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I really like Jacksonville, but I think that franchise is in a really good spot right now.
- 1:00:07[SPEAKER_01]: So this is a good one.
- 1:00:10[SPEAKER_00]: Um, Arizona and New York, um, the Cardinals are, this is the Cardinals are traveling across the country to the Giants and are in our two and a half point faith.
- 1:00:19[SPEAKER_00]: I know how about that.
- 1:00:21[SPEAKER_00]: I think this is a two touchdown Cardinals victory.
- 1:00:23[SPEAKER_00]: I know that's insane.
- 1:00:24[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 1:00:26[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and I think this is going to be the Jeremiah love game because what the giants are already missing from Dexter Lawrence losing Brian Burns.
- 1:00:35[SPEAKER_00]: It was by far your best run defender on the front there.
- 1:00:38[SPEAKER_00]: I think this is a game where the cardinals really get interesting and and really get a little frisking get after it.
- 1:00:44[SPEAKER_00]: That's my that's my hot take there.
- 1:00:47[SPEAKER_00]: Green Bay Tampa Bay.
- 1:00:48[SPEAKER_00]: Hello Jalen Daniels.
- 1:00:51[SPEAKER_00]: undrafted free agent starting a quarterback, which is never a sentence.
- 1:00:55[SPEAKER_00]: You want to say if you're a professional NFL team, but this is Jason like calling a shot.
- 1:01:00[SPEAKER_00]: Let's see the kid play right now that all of the days.
- 1:01:03[SPEAKER_01]: I remember Chris Perman.
- 1:01:05[SPEAKER_01]: I think you used to call it that like back when it was this used to be a division game.
- 1:01:09[SPEAKER_01]: I believe back in the day.
- 1:01:12[SPEAKER_01]: Um, the, I think if I remember right, one of the bucket, bucket in here is the, the, the, the, the, the interloper in the, and what do you used to call the NFC Norris division.
- 1:01:21[SPEAKER_01]: Um, so.
- 1:01:24[SPEAKER_01]: This is like almost like who's their more pressure on game.
- 1:01:27[SPEAKER_01]: Todd Bulls are Matt with floor.
- 1:01:29[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, the loser of this game enters the death toilet spiral, right?
- 1:01:34[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, this is tough for me because so you would think that the box would be playing with house money, right?
- 1:01:41[SPEAKER_01]: Because Jalen Daniels was playing quarterback on Dr.
- 1:01:43[SPEAKER_01]: Rookie all of that.
- 1:01:44[SPEAKER_01]: I think like the presence of Dave Canalis and what he's done with Bryce Young and Liam Cohen and what he's done with Trevor Lawrence is hovering over everything now in Tampa as far as what they're going to do going forward and you get an undrapted rookie in there now and if it doesn't look good at quarterback it only highlights that.
- 1:02:04[SPEAKER_01]: So it's like you would think it be a house money situation for Tampa but it isn't because they're all in three and there's that pressure
- 1:02:13[SPEAKER_01]: The packers looked awful, awful, against Atlanta.
- 1:02:17[SPEAKER_01]: The offensive line is beat to crap.
- 1:02:20[SPEAKER_01]: The scope of positions have not been good enough.
- 1:02:25[SPEAKER_01]: The quarterback's got to lift them up in this situation.
- 1:02:28[SPEAKER_01]: The defense hasn't been very good.
- 1:02:31[SPEAKER_01]: Going from Jeff Hathley to Jonathan Ganon.
- 1:02:33[SPEAKER_01]: And so there is a crap load of pressure on a lot of people there.
- 1:02:39[SPEAKER_00]: Um, next up we got the Tennessee Titans at Baltimore.
- 1:02:43[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, the Baltimore is in 11 and a half point.
- 1:02:46[SPEAKER_00]: The favorite here.
- 1:02:47[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I do a weekly radio show down in Nashville right now.
- 1:02:51[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I don't agree with the vitriol that's directed towards camward.
- 1:02:55[SPEAKER_00]: This is a kid.
- 1:02:56[SPEAKER_00]: Ultimately, and he's not playing well, and he's probably not the answer there, but like, you know, demanding your pound of flesh for him is just seems irresponsible.
- 1:03:04[SPEAKER_00]: That said, him going from the pick at the end of that giant scheme into the teeth of Jesse Minner's defense just sucks.
- 1:03:11[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's it.
- 1:03:12[SPEAKER_00]: That's that's a situation that you don't want to be in.
- 1:03:17[SPEAKER_00]: I see everyone keep saying that and I said this on Nashville yesterday to Nashville radio.
- 1:03:22[SPEAKER_00]: If I'm Jesse Minner, I'm hoping that Derek Henry's sitting on the bench with ice packs around his knees at the end of the first quarter.
- 1:03:28[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want that guy anywhere near the field after that.
- 1:03:30[SPEAKER_00]: Like that you should be winning this game by too by a very comfort margin same.
- 1:03:35[SPEAKER_00]: We can kind of blow past Miami and Minnesota here.
- 1:03:38[SPEAKER_00]: Minnesota is a 10 and a half point favorite despite having one of the worst offenses in the NFL.
- 1:03:42[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry to the dolphins, but like this just isn't the game that we need to spend much time talking on at this point.
- 1:03:48[SPEAKER_00]: Although my boy Christian Gonzalez is playing so well there would a dog of a lineback or he is they're going to have a good team Miami.
- 1:03:55[SPEAKER_00]: It's just going to take me.
- 1:03:56[SPEAKER_01]: You mean Jacob Rodriguez?
- 1:03:57[SPEAKER_00]: Jake.
- 1:03:58[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god.
- 1:03:58[SPEAKER_00]: Jacob Rodriguez.
- 1:04:00[SPEAKER_00]: That's what I'm saying.
- 1:04:01[SPEAKER_00]: Shelby.
- 1:04:01[SPEAKER_00]: Shelby.
- 1:04:02[SPEAKER_00]: Let me take that again.
- 1:04:03[SPEAKER_00]: At 102.
- 1:04:05[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 1:04:12[SPEAKER_00]: My, I mean, Minnesota, this isn't a game we need to talk about either.
- 1:04:14[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Minnesota is a 10 and a half point favorite here, despite the fact that they have one of the worst offences in the league.
- 1:04:20[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, I love some of the dolphins, you know, Kaden Proctor still playing well.
- 1:04:25[SPEAKER_00]: Jacob Rodriguez, great linebacker that they drafted in the second round.
- 1:04:29[SPEAKER_00]: he's had a couple great plays.
- 1:04:31[SPEAKER_00]: I think they're going to be some dogs on that team.
- 1:04:33[SPEAKER_00]: I think that team is going to be a force to be reckoned with, but they need a little bit of time to build here.
- 1:04:39[SPEAKER_00]: I love Kansas City.
- 1:04:40[SPEAKER_00]: Las Vegas, baby.
- 1:04:41[SPEAKER_00]: Allegiance stadium tickets are as low as $285.
- 1:04:45[SPEAKER_00]: This is very much a high for the week.
- 1:04:49[SPEAKER_00]: How about that?
- 1:04:50[SPEAKER_00]: That's cool.
- 1:04:50[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, dude, if you're here, if you're there and you're, like, if the Raiders don't show out for this one and granted, yes, you could be pissed off, the team up and moved to Las Vegas.
- 1:05:03[SPEAKER_00]: But like, this is the biggest regular season Raiders game since John Grootin's first game.
- 1:05:10[SPEAKER_00]: The second first game as Raiders had coach, too.
- 1:05:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, it's a massive game and I don't think they have to win, but you want like a good performance, right?
- 1:05:23[SPEAKER_01]: The chiefs are getting to the chiefs are working themselves to a point where they're going to be really good.
- 1:05:30[SPEAKER_01]: The offense of lines played better.
- 1:05:31[SPEAKER_01]: Kenneth Walker is a force.
- 1:05:33[SPEAKER_01]: I think Rochie Rice in Xavier War that you're going to get better as the year goes on.
- 1:05:37[SPEAKER_01]: The dynamics different because of the presence of Walker.
- 1:05:39[SPEAKER_01]: The defense should get better, I think, as the uncorner start to grow up with the lane and Williams, I think the chiefs are, I think the chiefs are back.
- 1:05:50[SPEAKER_01]: I'll put it that way.
- 1:05:51[SPEAKER_01]: And this will be a chance to show it.
- 1:05:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:05:54[SPEAKER_00]: Um, we got Los Angeles at Seattle.
- 1:05:58[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you talk about some of these panic games this weekend, Albert.
- 1:06:00[SPEAKER_00]: That's a huge one.
- 1:06:02[SPEAKER_00]: And again, it's like the chargers just keep waiting that week, that week, that week.
- 1:06:06[SPEAKER_00]: And I will say this that I rewatched that 13 play drive to start the half that the chargers had.
- 1:06:11[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm thinking to myself, like, there is a good offense in here.
- 1:06:13[SPEAKER_00]: There's a good offense in here.
- 1:06:15[SPEAKER_00]: It just sucks that you got to prove it.
- 1:06:17[SPEAKER_00]: Now, it's
- 1:06:17[SPEAKER_01]: It's, well, and like the dynamic with Seattle with Mike McDonald knowing Jim Harba really well and having coached against the Niners and the Rams twice a year for the last few years.
- 1:06:28[SPEAKER_01]: Like this is not a great match.
- 1:06:30[SPEAKER_01]: Like going to Seattle and facing that defense coming off of the performance that they had in Washington with all the institutional knowledge.
- 1:06:36[SPEAKER_01]: that McDonald has of both Jim Harba and Mike Diagnol.
- 1:06:40[SPEAKER_01]: This is a really tough spot for the Chargers.
- 1:06:42[SPEAKER_01]: This is like a real gut check.
- 1:06:44[SPEAKER_01]: Like this is a season on the line, like something needs to change type of game, because to go to Buffalo and lose on an afternoon, where the bills turned it over five times and had 10 penalties.
- 1:06:59[SPEAKER_01]: Like that it was staggering when I watched that game back to It was like hold like there was that there was the one drive where the bills kept scoring on them You don't talk about I think it was the the was in the third quarter fourth quarter Ty Johnson I believe had a touchdown that got called back.
- 1:07:16[SPEAKER_01]: I think yes, but it was like there was like three or four penalties that kept saying back and they scored anyway.
- 1:07:21[SPEAKER_01]: It's like all right like That like
- 1:07:27[SPEAKER_01]: this this like feels like season line for the chargers.
- 1:07:31[SPEAKER_00]: No doubt.
- 1:07:32[SPEAKER_00]: And last, but not least certainly buckle up for this one on Sunday football.
- 1:07:37[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not being facetious here.
- 1:07:39[SPEAKER_00]: Detroit at Carolina, the overunder is 51.5.
- 1:07:43[SPEAKER_00]: It is the second.
- 1:07:46[SPEAKER_00]: It's tied for the highest point total of the weekend.
- 1:07:52[SPEAKER_00]: with Bengals Jax.
- 1:07:53[SPEAKER_00]: This thing is going to be, this thing is going to be a goddamn shootout.
- 1:07:57[SPEAKER_00]: But I defer to Dave Burkett on this one who knows the Detroit Lions better than the Detroit Lions.
- 1:08:05[SPEAKER_00]: He said there are a lot fewer coverage buss this past week for Kelvin Shepherd's defense.
- 1:08:11[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe this is the game where they finally dig their heels in a little.
- 1:08:14[SPEAKER_01]: And this is a chance for Bryce young to announce himself to the country, because he's played really well through three weeks.
- 1:08:20[SPEAKER_01]: Um, you know, they've been banged up on offense, but, you know, like we'll see, they can get people back.
- 1:08:25[SPEAKER_01]: Um, yeah, this should be a fun one.
- 1:08:28[SPEAKER_01]: It should be a fun one.
- 1:08:29[SPEAKER_01]: And this is like one of those, like these two teams aren't always on national TV, the lines have been on national TV more.
- 1:08:32[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, I think it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's
- 1:08:39[SPEAKER_01]: It should be high scoring and you should get a chance to see some really good young offensive skill talent.
- 1:08:45[SPEAKER_01]: That's why I'm looking forward to it.
- 1:08:48[SPEAKER_00]: We got to get out of here Albert.
- 1:08:50[SPEAKER_00]: We'll talk a little bit more.
- 1:08:52[SPEAKER_00]: We want you guys to enjoy Thursday night football, which will just be starting a few hours after you guys get this podcast in your inbox.
- 1:09:00[SPEAKER_00]: We'll be talking about maybe the Browns to Sean Watson.
- 1:09:03[SPEAKER_00]: Can they survive a rivalry game here with the Steelers and speaking of the Steelers just before we go?
- 1:09:08[SPEAKER_00]: wondering if you saw Albert Mike Tomlin unveil a 12 year project of building his Minecraft village.
- 1:09:16[SPEAKER_01]: So I consulted with 11 year old Stephen Brear on this and he's a six-quayer.
- 1:09:21[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't play Minecraft anymore, but he did when he was younger.
- 1:09:24[SPEAKER_01]: Play a lot when he was younger and asked him, I said, like, how long would it take you to build this?
- 1:09:29[SPEAKER_01]: And so we're driving to school and he said,
- 1:09:33[SPEAKER_01]: eight hours a day for two years.
- 1:09:35[SPEAKER_01]: And then he amended it before he got another car.
- 1:09:37[SPEAKER_01]: He said, now maybe eight hours a day for one year.
- 1:09:39[SPEAKER_01]: It's still a lot of time.
- 1:09:42[SPEAKER_01]: There's a real stealer fan backlash there, too, wasn't there?
- 1:09:46[SPEAKER_01]: Didn't get me on Bellway in.
- 1:09:48[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't see this, but Ryan Pagnetti, our analytics expert friend on Twitter, said that my best estimate on this, and he's, again, the analytics dog, 3500 hours over 12 years, that's 5.6 hours per week for 12 straight years, and that would include the NFL regular season, Albert, and I'll just leave you with this.
- 1:10:10[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I got the love you.
- 1:10:10[SPEAKER_01]: I'm Bell Tweet first, if you want.
- 1:10:12[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah.
- 1:10:12[SPEAKER_00]: Hit me.
- 1:10:13[SPEAKER_01]: We were trying to win Super Bowl's and Coach T was on Minecraft building cities.
- 1:10:20[SPEAKER_00]: That's what I'm gonna leave you with right here.
- 1:10:22[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a hater, I know it.
- 1:10:24[SPEAKER_00]: Warren Sharp, sharp football.
- 1:10:26[SPEAKER_00]: Before Minecraft, this is Mike Tomlin split before the release of the game Minecraft.
- 1:10:35[SPEAKER_00]: Seven seasons of Mike Tomlin football.
- 1:10:37[SPEAKER_00]: One Super Bowl win, two Super Bowl births.
- 1:10:40[SPEAKER_00]: Five playoff wins, five and three in the postseason, a 62.52% winning percentage.
- 1:10:47[SPEAKER_00]: after the release of Minecraft.
- 1:10:49[SPEAKER_00]: 12 seasons with Mike Tomlin.
- 1:10:51[SPEAKER_00]: Zero Super Bowl wins.
- 1:10:52[SPEAKER_00]: Zero Super Bowl trips.
- 1:10:54[SPEAKER_00]: Three and nine in the playoffs.
- 1:10:56[SPEAKER_00]: This is Kyler Murray is like, did you see this?
- 1:10:59[SPEAKER_00]: It was not me for this.
- 1:11:01[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 1:11:02[SPEAKER_01]: What's his name?
- 1:11:03[SPEAKER_01]: The Australian basketball player, or New Zealand, Steven Adams.
- 1:11:08[SPEAKER_01]: You see what he said the other day?
- 1:11:09[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 1:11:10[SPEAKER_01]: So he said the other day that everybody should be keeping an eye on the level of play in November when GTA 6 comes out because he said he said for at least a month there the level of play in the NBA is going to dip because of the release of GTA 6 that's that's I guess I guess in today's day and age we are all we are all a Kylo Murray.
- 1:11:33[SPEAKER_00]: We are all Kyler Murray.
- 1:11:35[SPEAKER_00]: That guy deserves a little bit of slack, right?
- 1:11:37[SPEAKER_00]: Call it, call it duties, great.
- 1:11:38[SPEAKER_00]: Who doesn't call it duty.
- 1:11:39[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, we got to get out of here.
- 1:11:42[SPEAKER_00]: Albert, thank you as always for being the best co-host in the business and Shelby, the number one producer in your playbooks and in your hearts.
- 1:11:51[SPEAKER_00]: We will see you guys on Monday to recap a wild weekend to come of NFL football.
- 1:11:56[SPEAKER_00]: Stay tuned.
