- 0:01It is recording and I'm apologise to everyone at the
- 0:05start. Thank you.
- 0:07I got a little bored today and I may have done a little bit of
- 0:09day drinking. OK.
- 0:15And then a bit of night drinking to to top that off.
- 0:18I stopped about an hour ago. Welcome to multiple nerdgasm
- 0:25with your hosts, Matt. Luke.
- 0:28And Dan multiple Nerdgasm, your guide to all things nerdy.
- 0:41OK. What have you got there?
- 0:42I saw you open something. It's unless that's a posito.
- 0:47It's not a posito, it's. Oh, I love those.
- 0:50They're great. They're on sale for like $12.00
- 0:55for four which is ridiculous because like each can just
- 1:00tastes amazing and they're like 2 standard drinks.
- 1:04Right. I've never had the lemon one,
- 1:05but I have had their beer and they make a really good beer.
- 1:10Very good Japanese beer. So you stopped an hour ago but
- 1:12then started again a. Couple of minutes ago we're
- 1:15recording now that's true and it's.
- 1:17People would be. Concerned if I wasn't drinking.
- 1:20That's true. Well, you can hear it, so you
- 1:24know. Yeah, no worries.
- 1:25All right, I'll keep it there and I don't think.
- 1:26It's out of hand. I can.
- 1:27Apologize looks publicly. Shame you.
- 1:30The after party might be interesting.
- 1:31That's all I'm saying. I.
- 1:33Think the party's always. Interesting.
- 1:34I fucking hope it is. But I don't have any movies to
- 1:39talk about this week. I do.
- 1:41Well, Matt's got a movie that you've seen and so I'm sure that
- 1:44now that two of the three of us have seen it, there'll be a lot
- 1:47to say. Now, unless there's anything
- 1:49that I really need to experience without any knowledge, I'm.
- 1:54I'm more than happy to have spoilers.
- 1:55So just yeah, just just use a bit of caution.
- 1:58But generally it's. Necessary.
- 2:00I don't. Think you can spoil this movie?
- 2:02No, I. Don't think in which case.
- 2:05You know, and the listeners, obviously, I don't want to spoil
- 2:07anything. We're talking about Superman.
- 2:09I assume we're talking about James.
- 2:11Gunn, I thought we were talking about Sonic.
- 2:13No, that's. I have seen Sonic.
- 2:15I've seen Sonic. I love Sonic.
- 2:17That's true. We did.
- 2:19We did tease. Yeah.
- 2:20Yeah, that's right. Now, before we talk about Sonic
- 2:24or Superman, I just realized something during the week.
- 2:27I know why you watched Sonic this week, man.
- 2:29It's because of James Marsden, wasn't it?
- 2:33Ah. Yes, yes.
- 2:34Yeah. Hey, it wasn't this.
- 2:35So what happened? Yeah, we could do Sonic first.
- 2:37Why not? Yeah, we could do Superman, a
- 2:38little T Superman. Yeah.
- 2:40So I'm not quite remember the sequence of events, but yes, it
- 2:43was because. If you had told me at age 10
- 2:46that I'd be 45 and still talking about Sonic.
- 2:49Yeah, I know. No, but like with the.
- 2:51You 2. So it's been really funny
- 2:55because so yes, I watched Jury Duty.
- 2:59It reminded me that Sonic existed.
- 3:01And then I was like, I should watch that.
- 3:02And then there was one night where I think I forget why Jenna
- 3:07was out. And I was just like, I didn't
- 3:10have anything in particular I needed to do.
- 3:11So I was like, oh, watch a movie.
- 3:13And then I was like, oh, watch fucking Sonic the Hedgehog.
- 3:16So I popped it on and I'm like, this is pretty good.
- 3:19Yeah, like. It's a family movie, but it's
- 3:22it's just. Yes, and it's.
- 3:23Done well. Yeah, it's got Jim Carrey being
- 3:26the Jim Carrey I like. He's funny, but he's not.
- 3:29He wasn't obnoxious in it. Yeah.
- 3:30He was because I didn't like Jim Carrey at the start of your
- 3:33career. I liked him a little bit later
- 3:35where he's still that funny, but.
- 3:37I liked him. Annoying.
- 3:38I liked. Him at the very start and then
- 3:40he lost me. Yeah, I thought he was good and
- 3:43I'm happy. I thought he was good in this to
- 3:44be back. My favorite bit.
- 3:46The humour in this is very good because it's like kids don't get
- 3:49the, it's like that good split between it's funny for the kids.
- 3:53He's funny. Yeah.
- 3:54And then he makes, you know that bit where he's like, I was, I
- 3:58was spitting out formulas when you were drinking formula and
- 4:01James Marsden's like, actually I was actually, I was breastfed.
- 4:05And he's like, oh, sure, rub that in my orphan face.
- 4:12Yeah. And sounds good.
- 4:14So. So I really enjoyed it.
- 4:16And as I was watching it, I was like, I think Lyra could watch
- 4:20this if she wanted to. It's it's at that level where
- 4:23because she's very she doesn't like stuff that's too scary.
- 4:26But I was like, this is pretty light on the, yeah, on the, on
- 4:30the, on the peril, so to speak. Yeah, Harper's the same, but if
- 4:33the stakes get too high? Yeah, she gets Lyra gets nervous
- 4:36and she says I don't want to watch.
- 4:37In fact, she just to turn off a bunch of Disney movies because
- 4:40she doesn't like the witches and whatnot that are always.
- 4:42Yes, Harper won't watch Snow White because not of the Queen,
- 4:49but when she turns into the old boy with the apple?
- 4:52That's the. Favorite Apple?
- 4:53She's Yep. Yeah.
- 4:54What's the term? Tangled?
- 4:55As soon as the, you know, the the stepmother or whatever it is
- 4:58stepmother, soon as she comes on, there's like, I don't like
- 5:00her. Turn it off funny.
- 5:01And it's like, all right, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 5:04So. Movies we grew up with.
- 5:07Yeah, Tangled. Tangled is very good.
- 5:10Wouldn't know. Yeah, Harper.
- 5:13Harper doesn't like the the squid in.
- 5:17Oh yeah. Little Mermaid, Yeah, or she
- 5:19doesn't see which. She fucking cannot abide her.
- 5:22Yeah, Yeah. So I was like, you know, Lyra
- 5:24could watch this. And then we were up in Vermont,
- 5:28and she woke up early one morning and she was like, I want
- 5:31to watch something on your phone.
- 5:33And I was like, oh, all right, fine.
- 5:34And I was like, oh, I watched this movie The other day.
- 5:37Do you want to see the trailer for it?
- 5:38She's like, yeah, So I showed her the trailer for Sonic, and
- 5:40she was like, I fucking love Sonic.
- 5:43And I was like, what? How does she know Sonic?
- 5:46No, no, no, she just from that moment.
- 5:48As soon as the trailer she's like I'm.
- 5:49In she was like, I need to watch Sonic and I was like, what?
- 5:53And she's like, Sonic put it on again.
- 5:55And then she was like, I want to watch this trailer for Sonic and
- 5:58I want this trailer for Sonic and then this clip from Sonic.
- 6:00And then and then we had some downtime up there and I said to
- 6:03her, do you want to just watch Sonic?
- 6:06And she was like, Yep. And this is literally she has
- 6:09trouble getting through a movie. She just sat there the whole
- 6:10time, watched this fucking movie.
- 6:12She loved it, just loved it. I'm so happy that they changed
- 6:17Sonic from the original version that they had because it was the
- 6:21original version. She would have been out at the
- 6:24start. And I I'm usually not on board
- 6:28with people changing based on like Internet buzz.
- 6:33No, but this was the one example where yes, the Internet was 100%
- 6:37correct. Yes.
- 6:39Like his teeth and no. The eyes.
- 6:42The eyes were. Didn't look like Sonic.
- 6:44Far apart. Nothing about it.
- 6:46But for them to get. Back and redo it.
- 6:48It turned into that Sonic. But it, it does look like it
- 6:54doesn't matter because it's, it's a fucking hedgehog from
- 6:56another planet. But like, it does look less like
- 7:00he fits in the way he is now, but he looks like he's supposed
- 7:03to look. You know what I mean?
- 7:05Yeah, yeah. Because he was a cartoon.
- 7:07So, well, I mean, it's the Yoda argument where, you know, George
- 7:10Lucas was like, but he looks better now, right?
- 7:12We're like, doesn't matter. Doesn't look right.
- 7:15Yeah, the puppet is is is real. Like as far as I'm concerned, I
- 7:19would should buy this dress back.
- 7:21And that just looks like that's Yoda.
- 7:22That's Yoda Exactly. That's whatever he is.
- 7:25That's what they. Are.
- 7:28Yeah. So anyway, Sonic, big thumbs up
- 7:31and we watched Sonic 2 last night.
- 7:33I haven't seen Sonic 3I. Forget that there's a Sonic 2 no
- 7:36I. Haven't seen Sonic 3.
- 7:37Three as well. Fucking hell.
- 7:39Because the second one has tails and then the third one has
- 7:42knuckles. OK, so I think.
- 7:44Knuckles is in the second one. Oh, OK, the second one as well.
- 7:47Third one at the at the very end.
- 7:48Oh spoilers. Post credits of the second one.
- 7:52They would be of Shadow the Hedgehog.
- 7:54Shadow. And that's about all my Sonic
- 7:59knowledge. I was.
- 7:59Never as into Sonic as other people seem to be.
- 8:03Other people were always like, oh fuck, he goes fast.
- 8:06I'm like, yeah, too fast. Sorry, I loved Sonic, that was.
- 8:10My Goki. Game for a long.
- 8:12Time Oh, I used to play it, but. What I'm worried about the
- 8:17fandom for Sonic's to beat weed. Oh yeah.
- 8:20There's a lot of pregnant Sonic and that's the whole thing and I
- 8:25don't get it. What?
- 8:27Yeah, I guess you don't get it. But though it's good that it's
- 8:30good. That you don't get it.
- 8:31It's very. Good.
- 8:32I've been worried that you said there's a lot of pregnant Sonic,
- 8:34which I completely understand, but.
- 8:37You know, it's really weird and I yeah, but I'm all for Sonic.
- 8:41That was a game I played a lot in hospital.
- 8:43That was Sega Bega Dr. and that was my game.
- 8:46Before it came out, I used to buy every Sega magazine that
- 8:49came out that had Sonic on the cover because I was just so like
- 8:52it was hyped to the Max. I had a Sega book that I made
- 8:56which was an exercise book, 240 page exercise book that from
- 9:01foreign listeners. I don't know what that would be
- 9:03called in your country. That's what we call them, right?
- 9:05Blank paper. Paper, Book and I would cut out
- 9:08any Sega related article. Yes, we said keeper.
- 9:12Sega And yeah, we did say Sega, Yeah.
- 9:14Remember, and remember when, I mean, I had this moment when I
- 9:17think it was Sonic was the first game I played to do this on the
- 9:21on the Mega Drive Genesis for American listeners where you
- 9:25turned it on and it would go Sega.
- 9:27Yeah. And I was like, yeah.
- 9:29What? Sega.
- 9:31Yeah, what's a Sega? But it changed the other games.
- 9:35Yeah. Like everyone.
- 9:37Just said Sega. Yeah, definitely Sega.
- 9:40Yeah, I do have an embarrassing story about Sonic.
- 9:43Go ahead. I did get one.
- 9:44I was. Getting pregnant.
- 9:46Megadrove games Megadrove, not the Sega magazines.
- 9:51And it came with a Sonic tattoo. Oh yeah.
- 9:55The hospital at time I was looking forward to doing it and
- 9:58then for the first time ever I used a bed tray.
- 10:02Uh huh. I didn't ask for help getting
- 10:06off it and there was a bit of splashback and I ruined the
- 10:10tattoo and I had to buy new magazines I would get.
- 10:14Pissed off your own tattoo? You were going to say you were
- 10:16like, I want to put this temporary tattoo on, but I don't
- 10:18have any water. But I.
- 10:19Do. Have no I just ruined my
- 10:23magazine. I do want this tattoo on my
- 10:25Dick. I really wanted that tattoo and
- 10:27I wore it and I loved it. Yeah.
- 10:30Yeah, I'm more of a Wonder Boy guy.
- 10:34Wonder Boy all the way. One of my favorite.
- 10:37Fantastic game. Wonder Boy wants to land.
- 10:39Yeah, absolutely. But I even like the The Miracle
- 10:42World. Yeah.
- 10:44Oh no, that was Alex's kid Wonder.
- 10:45Just wonder boy. Full stop, he gets on that
- 10:48skateboard. You know what, when I play it
- 10:51now, do not get on the skateboard.
- 10:53That skateboard will fuck you up.
- 10:56Leave. It you wanted it, you wanted it
- 10:58so bad. If I didn't get that skateboard,
- 11:00I would commit suicide and go back to the start of the game.
- 11:05One of my favourite Master System games, Rastan, is being
- 11:10ported over to the Amiga finally in 2025.
- 11:14AKA Conan the Barbarian, but we couldn't get the license.
- 11:17That's right. Well, that's why I love it.
- 11:19It's why I loved it then. It's why I love it now.
- 11:21Because actually there are Conan games.
- 11:23They're all garbage. Well, except Conan Exiles, but
- 11:26you know, there's retro can Conan games.
- 11:28None of them were any good. Rastan is very good.
- 11:34Well yeah, Sonic movie, big thumbs up for me and From
- 11:36Malaria and Sonic 2 is not as good in my opinion but it was
- 11:41still still fine. It's good.
- 11:42Have I talked? About The Smurfs.
- 11:45Oh, I've seen trailers for the new Smurfs.
- 11:47OK, so there is a new Smurfs. I might be seeing that tomorrow
- 11:49actually. OK, there's a Smurfs movie on
- 11:51Netflix where you know how The Smurfs are all men and then
- 11:56Gargamel sends in. A Smurfette.
- 11:59Yeah, yeah. So in this Smurfette's like, why
- 12:03are there no one? Like I can't fuck any more of
- 12:06you guys. Yeah, leave.
- 12:07Me alone, I am sore. So she goes off on an adventure
- 12:11on her own and finds a Smurf village where it's just all
- 12:15women and there's no men Smurfs. It's it's very funny.
- 12:20The whole thing's coming from. And it's very good and we
- 12:22watched it together and then Harper was like, this is
- 12:25excellent. And then she always asks this
- 12:27question asks her if she watches a movie, is there a number 2?
- 12:30Is there a Part 2 to this? Because you know, there's a
- 12:31frozen 2 there. So I I check Smurfs 2.
- 12:37Yep, here it is. Let's have a look.
- 12:39No, no, no, no, there's a Smurfs one and two in a completely
- 12:43different genre. More like Sonic in that it's The
- 12:47Smurfs are animated and everyone else's live action.
- 12:50Man, it's dark. The tone is all wrong.
- 12:53OK, I don't know who The Who the audience for this is, but.
- 12:57She I think the new one might be a sequel to the one you're
- 12:59talking about. Like.
- 13:02But I do sort of get that because I remember growing up
- 13:04trying to ask my parents, like, where is Star Wars 1-2?
- 13:07And three, yeah, I saw Episode 4.
- 13:10Where are the first three? You're like, I want to see them.
- 13:14The one that got me just gone back to Nez games or Sega games.
- 13:19There was a Goonies game and a Goonies 2 game if you recall.
- 13:24So I always ask my parents where's the Goonies 2 movie
- 13:27because there's already a game based on it.
- 13:29So fucking show me that movie. Why are you holding up?
- 13:32You think they're gatekeeping something good?
- 13:34So yeah, they. Won't.
- 13:35Oh no no, I know my parents used to gatekeep a lot of stuff from
- 13:38me so. But I did see another movie.
- 13:45I did go to the movies. I did.
- 13:46I got to say I I normally wait a couple of weeks and I go see,
- 13:50and I've said before I like it because it's quieter and that,
- 13:52but it's in generally in the smaller theaters.
- 13:55This one, it was kind of the same week it came out on the
- 13:59Friday, I think. And then I went and saw it.
- 14:01So it was in one of the big theaters.
- 14:02It was packed. But I've got to say, yeah, it's
- 14:05pretty fucking good seeing it on the the bigger laser fucking
- 14:10projector with the sound just fucking cranked in there.
- 14:13I was like, oh, OK, yeah, I'm glad I did this.
- 14:18I fucking love this movie. Yeah, Superman loved it.
- 14:22Big smile on my face the whole time.
- 14:23Excellent. It's not, you know, it's not
- 14:26gonna blow your mind or anything, but if you like
- 14:30Superman, and I think in particular, I don't know
- 14:32Superman, there's like so many Superman stories.
- 14:37So I think your mileage may vary on this.
- 14:39But this is the type of DC stuff that I remember when I was a
- 14:43kid. Which makes sense because I
- 14:44guess James Gunn's not that much older.
- 14:45Than this, yeah. Where it's just, it's also a bit
- 14:50weird, like, you know what I mean, Luke?
- 14:52It's not. It's got weird shit.
- 14:54In it I've heard that I've heard that people are confused by some
- 14:57stuff so. Yes, yeah.
- 15:00In fact, one of my literally there's a bit where I won't do
- 15:04too much spoilery stuff, but there's a bit where let's just
- 15:07say Superman needs some help because he's stuck in a in a
- 15:11river of sorts for reasons with with a baby and awesome.
- 15:17And and then there's this whole sequence that happens after
- 15:20that. And I know, look, you know what
- 15:21I mean. And I was just like, this is
- 15:23fucking awesome, like. Like this, it actually feels
- 15:29like a comic book movie again. I think it's gone back to that.
- 15:33I think Jake John's really brought that's.
- 15:34What he said he was going to do, that's what he said he was going
- 15:36to do. It's not the Zack Snyder, which
- 15:38is very serious, very dark. It's it's a comic book.
- 15:41It's fun. It's a little bit unbelievable.
- 15:43Go with. Look, I like the Zack Snyder
- 15:45movies and I'm looking forward to this too.
- 15:48Superman can be both things as far as I'm concerned.
- 15:50This is the first time I've liked Superman in a long time.
- 15:53I've never been a big Superman fan because Superman has always
- 15:56been invincible. See, I like Superman, I just
- 15:59didn't like, but Superman movies they were making it wasn't.
- 16:02That's like, that's not the kind of Superman that I like.
- 16:05Like it's just too. He's just not really a spoiler
- 16:08as such, but the start of the movie, it is a bit of a spoiler,
- 16:11but the start of the movie is Superman just really he's ass
- 16:13kicked. Yes, right.
- 16:15That's the start of the movie. Yeah.
- 16:18And that's where it starts off from.
- 16:21Do they show like every Superman movie leaving Krypton, all of
- 16:25that or no? No.
- 16:26No, no, they do refer to his. Parents, you know who Superman
- 16:30is? There's a, there's like a, you
- 16:32know, like it's start a Blade Runner where the text comes up.
- 16:34There's a bit of like at the start where it's like, was it 3
- 16:36centuries ago? The first made of humans arrived
- 16:38on Earth three years ago, 03 decades ago, Superman or a child
- 16:44from Krypton crashed on Earth that does this thing and then
- 16:46and it's like blah, blah. Blah blah, resetting the
- 16:50universe a little bit and just, but you all know all of this
- 16:53stuff, we're just going to get into it.
- 16:55Yeah. Were there anything in this?
- 16:59Were there anything in this? Was there anything in this movie
- 17:02that links it to existing DC movies?
- 17:07Yes, there was one thing. It was Peacemaker.
- 17:11Oh, Peacemaker. Sorry, yes.
- 17:12Peacemaker was this interview about Superman That was the.
- 17:15Only that's very. But it's James Gunn's
- 17:17peacemaker. Yes.
- 17:19Yeah. And a quick interview with
- 17:22Maxwell Lord, who is Sean Gunn. He's briefly, very briefly in
- 17:27this. Very.
- 17:28Briefly, how James Gunney is it? So people have complained about
- 17:32that a little bit online too. I think people who liked the
- 17:34Zack Snyder stuff, which was not funny.
- 17:37I have complained that this is James Gunn.
- 17:40So it's every there is a serious and you know, like I guess
- 17:46intense stuff, but it's always, always undercut with some.
- 17:50Funny why James Gunn is so good. That's why.
- 17:53Guardians of the Galaxy. Was I the?
- 17:55Best Marvel movie. That's what I want.
- 17:58So I was like, I got no issues with that mate.
- 18:01Like. Yeah, how happy is it that James
- 18:03Gum made those inappropriate jokes all those years ago?
- 18:06I got fired. I know.
- 18:08Too, too radical for Disney. But why don't you come over
- 18:11here? Yeah, and they went over and
- 18:13they'd still went back to Disney and they'll.
- 18:16It's their head. Because I was in tears of
- 18:19laughter all the way through the 1st Guardians of the Galaxy
- 18:23movie. Except for all the times I was
- 18:25in tears of literal emotion like this.
- 18:29Is a bit like that too. Yeah, this has got some good
- 18:32emotional notes. And then, but also like a good
- 18:35example is there's a scene where Clark and Lois are having kind
- 18:39of a serious conversation in an apartment and out the window you
- 18:42can see that this this they call it an interdimensional impose
- 18:45something and the the Justice Gang.
- 18:48Their body handled. Which is Green Lantern Hot Girl
- 18:51and Mr. Terrific. And then so as they're having a
- 18:54serious conversation every now and then, it'll cut to like a
- 18:57wider shot and you can see outside like, and it's just
- 18:59fucking giant green baseball bat from Greenland.
- 19:03Smacking. This thing in the head, it's
- 19:05just like, it's awesome. I'm all in.
- 19:08But then the conversation is also quite serious at the same
- 19:10time, like. That's what I'm saying.
- 19:12Like it's just, I think people, yeah, that's what he does.
- 19:14The best He sets something up really, really seriously and
- 19:18then just pulls the rug out from under it.
- 19:20That's why it's that's why it's genius.
- 19:23I've heard a bit of rumours, but you can confirm it for me.
- 19:26Are they hypno glasses? Is he wearing hypno glasses?
- 19:30Yeah. Yes, that's actually a funny
- 19:32scene too, Nathan. Phil is fucking great in this.
- 19:34Yeah. Well, he's always good, so I
- 19:37can't imagine. Everything he does, yeah.
- 19:39You know that. So you know that Super Clark
- 19:41Kane is Superman. What?
- 19:43And Lois is like what? Why is he telling you this?
- 19:48Awesome. I need to have a word through
- 19:50about who he should trust with that information because barely
- 19:53what I was. I was reading, I was
- 19:55interviewing somebody reading old books, reviews on old books,
- 20:00and they they said they read Jekyll and Hyde for the first
- 20:03time, right? And everyone, everyone knows
- 20:05that story, right? Everyone knows what a Jekyll and
- 20:07Hyde is, even if you've never read the book.
- 20:09And he was like, it's a good book, But I knew what was going
- 20:13on because of pop culture. He's like, imagine if you read
- 20:16this book in like the 1890s and were like.
- 20:19What the fuck? Like, yeah.
- 20:24Well, I wonder, do young people actually get that, understand
- 20:27that reference these days? Yeah, maybe, Maybe.
- 20:30I don't know. I think that about some of the
- 20:32movies we take for some stuff that we take for granted now.
- 20:35Like I've thought about like, but imagine James Cameron
- 20:38pitching Terminator back in the day and then, then, then and
- 20:42then being like, yeah. And then he comes back and it's
- 20:44his, he, he Kyrie sleeps with his mum.
- 20:47And then that's how he and then the studio being like, what?
- 20:50What? Fuck yeah.
- 20:51Well, how did you do it without the weed?
- 20:52Incest. Yeah.
- 20:54Absolutely not. Yeah.
- 20:57I walk has to happen I. Mean this guy's going to play
- 21:00the Terminator? Lance Hendrickson comes in with
- 21:02the fucking tinfoil on his teeth and they're like, no.
- 21:06Yeah. But yeah, I love to admit I'm
- 21:10going to go see it again. I think that's how much I liked
- 21:12it. Yeah, I got.
- 21:13I got to try and see it. I I made it.
- 21:16Have you seen F1, Matt? Look, I know you've seen that.
- 21:20It's different because I know Jenna wants to see it too, and
- 21:22it's more complicated to for us both.
- 21:24To see a movie. Because yeah.
- 21:26You might say it will love it look.
- 21:27After but at the same time, Huai said she will see F1 with me but
- 21:31she will not see Superman with me.
- 21:33So I'm on my own for that. But then at the same time, I
- 21:37watch 99% of all my Movies Now on my laptop, right?
- 21:43So even just committing to watching F1 in my living room on
- 21:47the TV with my speakers is a massive improvement on how I
- 21:51would normally see it anyway. So at the very least I've got to
- 21:54do that. But I would like to go to the
- 21:55cinema is. That available in a way that you
- 21:58do. No, it's still I didn't.
- 21:59Think so. Yeah, I look to.
- 22:01I might go. See F1.
- 22:02It is available if you don't give a shit, but.
- 22:06Yeah, you want to, you want to see good quality.
- 22:08Because we talked about it and then I, we, Jenna was like, you
- 22:11just go see it if you want to. And I was like, maybe I will.
- 22:14I. Because I enjoy going to the
- 22:16movies more than she does. I'm to enjoy going to the movies
- 22:20again, especially when I'm sleeping drinks in as well.
- 22:23Yeah, I do that too now, although I'm not drinking for
- 22:25the next month or so, so I have not.
- 22:27I oh, OK. Oh, there you go, Dry July.
- 22:32Yeah, Oh, I didn't. Hadn't coined a phantom name or
- 22:36discovered that other people had, but yeah, I guess I am.
- 22:40So so am I. I'll just start telling people
- 22:43that now. It'd be.
- 22:43Simplify explanation. July.
- 22:45Yeah. It is a thing.
- 22:47Because everyone's like, what's wrong with you?
- 22:48Nothing. I just.
- 22:50What? What's wrong with you for asking
- 22:51follow up questions when a man tells you he no longer drinks?
- 22:54Just fucking exactly that. He's made a very difficult
- 22:56decision and he's sticking. With it and.
- 22:58He's taken it one day at a time. But you must know it's because
- 23:01and. He goes to a special group once
- 23:03a week where other men tell their stories.
- 23:05Yeah, exactly. Get off my fucking back.
- 23:07It's anonymous. I, I just, I, I've been working
- 23:13out and I'm like, you know what? I could probably be even more
- 23:15successful if I stopped fucking drinking so much 100.
- 23:19Percent, yeah. Yeah.
- 23:20I keep saying the reason why I'm got that belly is because I
- 23:23drink. It's not because I don't
- 23:24exercise or anything. It's just like drinking.
- 23:27If I stop that, it'll be fine and I'm going to start drinking.
- 23:30Instead of exercising though, so.
- 23:32I am going to start my six months journey in two months, 2
- 23:361/2 months, I'll take photos. I've got a head start, please
- 23:40do. Please do, yeah.
- 23:41I can do follow up photos actually.
- 23:44Are you at the point now where you're comfortable taking a
- 23:46follow up photo? Nice, I.
- 23:47I probably should because I do think, you know, you just get
- 23:51used to what you look like and I'm, I'm like, I know for a fact
- 23:55that I have like muscularity wise have changed quite a bit
- 24:00because. But in your head, you just see
- 24:01yourself as. What you I think, yeah, I think
- 24:04it would be good to see the difference.
- 24:06Yeah, I think maybe we do need to check in too, because I'm the
- 24:09opposite. I have also been exercising, and
- 24:13I haven't drank at all in months, but I lost enough of my
- 24:19beer belly and I gained enough muscularity that I no longer
- 24:23hate my body enough to actively work out, you know what I mean?
- 24:28Like, yeah, so I've plateaued. I mean, I still do exercise, but
- 24:32I've plateaued in terms of like just my fucking drive to get rid
- 24:36of. This, yeah.
- 24:38Well, I'm going to start my journey in October.
- 24:41OK, that when you get back. That's when I get back in
- 24:44October. I was going to say because
- 24:46you're not going to be doing that while you're away.
- 24:47You're going to be floating. In a pool floating a whole
- 24:50drinking dollar bees. Yeah, exactly.
- 24:52Yeah, fucking dollar prostitutes.
- 24:57But I think I'll splurge, I'll get 2 little prostitutes.
- 25:00Don't want to know what you're going to do with them?
- 25:01I'm going to splurge. That reminds me of the story,
- 25:10but I don't think I can tell it. Oh.
- 25:14I just. Jeez.
- 25:16Maybe it's all. Right, there's an interesting
- 25:23tidbit in here about Superman I'd not heard yet.
- 25:27I'd heard I'd discovered this today and I love this.
- 25:31How do you pronounce this man's name, by the way?
- 25:33Corin Sweat. Corin Sweat.
- 25:36Corin Sweat. It's not that complicated.
- 25:38He's very cool as Superman. I must say.
- 25:41He's very good in this. I discovered this week he's the
- 25:44fucking mustachio charming projectionist in.
- 25:49Pearl. Yeah, Pearl.
- 25:52Yeah. Oh, and I actually think Pearl
- 25:55is probably the best of the three.
- 25:57The three, I completely agree, yeah.
- 25:58Yeah, I still don't know how she ended that ended when she's just
- 26:01laughing at the camera. For so long, that was good.
- 26:05She's. Terrifying.
- 26:06Yeah, the third one I don't think ended.
- 26:08The third one wasn't the greatest, I think the first two.
- 26:11No, it was OK. It was OK.
- 26:14It's OK. But but the but yeah.
- 26:15Pearl was good, and then Pearl was even better.
- 26:19Yeah, Maxine was fine. Yeah, I actually don't remember
- 26:24much of it, I'll be honest. Well, that's the only one I've
- 26:26only seen once because the others I wanted to watch again.
- 26:29Yeah, at the end of my scene that that dad was the cult
- 26:32leader or something that. Was, that's right, too much.
- 26:35Too much. Yeah.
- 26:35Yeah. No, no, we haven't said the
- 26:38news. David Cohen, Sweat's
- 26:39grandfather, is the creator of the Choose Your Own Adventure
- 26:43book series. Now this.
- 26:45Interesting. Defined my childhood.
- 26:47I love these as much as I loved any of the other stuff.
- 26:50We go on and on. About, I do have a question,
- 26:53yes, Were you someone that just accepted your decisions or did
- 26:56you keep your thumb back? I'm going to go back and no, I
- 26:59didn't. Like hell no, hell no.
- 27:01I didn't accept any decision. See what happens.
- 27:04Yeah. So at PAX East we there was a
- 27:08Choose Your Own Adventure booth. Hey.
- 27:10Because they're back, they're making new ones.
- 27:13And I vaguely remember we, we talked to the, the person there
- 27:18about how and why they were back and whatnot.
- 27:21And they, I think they said somebody who owned the rights
- 27:23had passed away. And I would hear if it was David
- 27:26Curtiswit's grandfather. It's very unfortunately, yeah.
- 27:30Yeah, I'd say that's probably, that's probably it.
- 27:33There you go. She didn't tell me it was
- 27:36Superman's granddad. Yeah, Rude Zora, for those who
- 27:40don't know, Choose Your Adventure books were essentially
- 27:44books that were text adventures. So you had a choice at the end
- 27:48of every page, told you what page to go to next could lead to
- 27:51certain death or more story. A lot of them led to certain
- 27:56death. And a lot of them led to the
- 27:58same certain death is like, I can't fall down the trapdoor
- 28:01again. OK, now I'm in a different
- 28:02castle. Hold on, how did I fall down
- 28:03that same trapdoor? You learned to know, oh, that
- 28:07turn to page. Whatever.
- 28:08I'm not saying that. I'm not doing that.
- 28:09Yeah, that's right. I.
- 28:11Know what that? I know what happens on page 72,
- 28:13yeah. I was more into the Fighting
- 28:15Fantasy books which you can see they.
- 28:18Were also excellent. I was also into Wizards,
- 28:21Warriors and you. Oh, me.
- 28:26You. Matt Yeah.
- 28:27If only I had. Wizards, Warriors and Matt Han.
- 28:29They could have been quite different.
- 28:30I don't. Know who this is?
- 28:31Yeah, I didn't know. I didn't meet him till high
- 28:33school. So.
- 28:34In the big U of PAX, though, they've announced some of the
- 28:37stuff coming out to PAX Australia.
- 28:38One thing we're going to go see Dan, we're going to see John
- 28:40Robertson. OK, he does the dark room.
- 28:46So it's a interactive sort of D&D thing.
- 28:49So he back in the dark room and it's very it's a fun show, no.
- 28:55It's like it's a dark room and he puts you in there and then
- 28:57just whatever happens, happens, whatever.
- 28:59Happens. Happens.
- 29:00Yeah, his name is Shy. Jerking you off?
- 29:01Just go with it. Sorry, sorry, I've said goblin.
- 29:05It's a goblin. Shy Labarne can't.
- 29:08It's Goblin. You want and a goblin wants to
- 29:11fuck you up the ass. He wants it real bad.
- 29:16But no, it's just an interactive stage show where it's basically
- 29:18him, just you awake in a dark room.
- 29:21What do you want to do? Sweet.
- 29:25So by interactive you mean we have to put on the show?
- 29:28He's like, what do you want to do?
- 29:29You tell me. Yes.
- 29:31Wait, So yeah, you yell at him and you yell the goblin is
- 29:34fucking you in the arm and he. Has to do it.
- 29:37He has to do it. He has to.
- 29:39Yeah, yeah, the goblins signing over the deed to his house.
- 29:49Fucking goblins. I will say I was on holidays 2
- 29:56weeks ago in Bali with my wife's family and somebody mentioned
- 30:01something about Stranger Things and, and both my wife and her
- 30:07sister were like, well, I haven't seen it, am I fucking?
- 30:10I haven't seen Stranger Things. Like it's iconic.
- 30:12Even if it doesn't appeal to you, like you, you got to watch,
- 30:16you got to. So anyway, so we put it on and
- 30:19my niece who's 13 or about to turn 13, you know, in the start
- 30:23where they're playing D&D in the basement, she turns to me.
- 30:27She's like, could you teach me to play?
- 30:29D and DI was like, fucking yes. Can I play with you?
- 30:35Dial me in more for it. Yeah, I'm glad.
- 30:40From the way we normally. Yeah, that's right.
- 30:42Yeah. And actually it's funny because
- 30:45her dad was like, oh, I don't know if you'd like it, sweetie.
- 30:47It's very complicated. And I'm like, Nah, it doesn't.
- 30:50Yeah. We could play it right now if we
- 30:53could find a dice like honestly like.
- 30:55It's as complicated as you really want to make it, Yeah.
- 30:59There are so many different versions now where you can just
- 31:03basically you roll 4 to 6, you win, you roll 3 to 1.
- 31:08That's right. Like you're right.
- 31:09Exactly. Just yeah.
- 31:10But you're right, you could do it with a coin flip.
- 31:12A coin. Do you kill it or not?
- 31:14You don't. Yeah, fire randomly into the
- 31:17clearing story that you're creating.
- 31:19Yeah, but I do not want to say like I see Tron in here.
- 31:22Did you see the trailer for Tron when you saw Superman?
- 31:26No, no, I just watched it. It's terrible.
- 31:31What does it does it? Well, it can't.
- 31:34It doesn't sound terrible because it's going to sound like
- 31:369 inch nails, which is good. No, that's the only part of the
- 31:39trailer I thought I'm excited about, but the it's real world
- 31:43and Tron world coming together and.
- 31:46I'm I'm open to seeing where they go with it.
- 31:50Did you watch the second trailer?
- 31:51The one that's in here. No, I've only watched the sort
- 31:54of teaser. OK, I've seen the teaser.
- 31:56That's all. I've seen this trailer.
- 31:57This explains what you know, why they're out in the real world.
- 32:00It's like military technology. They're saying he's saying it's
- 32:05an AI from from the that that they generate soldiers and
- 32:10that's OK so. But I also just going back to
- 32:14the original Tron I I had problems with the logic of it
- 32:19too. Oh yes, like how could he go in?
- 32:21And how could he sensical. Why was he still himself when he
- 32:24was in there? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 32:25Like. Oh, they think.
- 32:26He's if he can go in, yeah, if he can go in, they can come out.
- 32:30You know it's. Got no problem.
- 32:31It's fantasy. It's not science fiction,
- 32:33really. It's fantasy.
- 32:34Yeah. That's right.
- 32:35Yeah, Yeah, Yeah. No.
- 32:36This. I thought it looked all right
- 32:37actually. But I'm just watching this with
- 32:40no sound on in the background and I'm.
- 32:42I'm fucking in, guys. Yeah.
- 32:43I mean visually stunning so far. But and I like Tron magazine.
- 32:47Good. I know a lot of people.
- 32:48Yeah, I did. I'd lukewarm about it, but I
- 32:51fucking thought it was great. I don't want trouble with this.
- 32:55Yes, he is. Yeah, unfortunately.
- 32:57That's right. But fortunately or.
- 32:59Unfortunately, it's hard to. Tell unless Bruce, Bruce is
- 33:01here, I'm not watching it. Here's the thing.
- 33:04Bruce. Bruce.
- 33:06Tron. Oh, gotcha.
- 33:09Yeah, Jeff's in it. Bruce boxed Let me or.
- 33:15Something Scully's in it. Yes, that's right.
- 33:21I always think that Tron starts with The Last Starfighters
- 33:27opening. Like.
- 33:29Opening act like every time I put it on and it's him there and
- 33:33he's got his own arcade and he's a cool dude.
- 33:34I'm like, wait, I thought he lived in a trailer park.
- 33:36What? What Like no, that's the last.
- 33:38How are we? Getting a third Tron.
- 33:40We still don't have a secret to The Last Starfighter and they've
- 33:42been talking about that ends on the cliffhanger.
- 33:46It doesn't end or not. We're going to go out and do
- 33:48more. Yes.
- 33:51The end of the story. You could reboot it to.
- 33:53I mean, I I actually thought the Jumanji reboot where they have
- 33:58the old console, I thought that was quite good.
- 34:01It was surprisingly good. Yeah, yeah, I agree.
- 34:05That was, I was expecting it to be really shit and.
- 34:08I was expecting it to be like painful garbage and it was quite
- 34:12good now. Look, I think the trend looks
- 34:18all right. Yeah, I'm on the fence.
- 34:22I watched something else. I thought I'd put it in here,
- 34:23but no, I just, I just thought of it and I was like, it's not
- 34:26in here. Maybe I forgot to actually type
- 34:27it, but I watched. Bring her Back.
- 34:31Australian Horror. Yes, and that's getting a lot of
- 34:35hype. It's very good.
- 34:37It's very disturbing, is it? But very good, yeah.
- 34:41OK, great. It's about.
- 34:43I know heaps of people that worked on that movie, so it's
- 34:46all over my Facebook. Yeah.
- 34:48No, no, very good. Yeah, it's a film in SA, I
- 34:51think. Yeah, it's just about a two kids
- 35:00who their parents are both gone and they get put into foster
- 35:03care and the foster mum. It's a bit weird, and I guess
- 35:08the less said the better, honestly, because it's Yeah,
- 35:12but. Where did you see this?
- 35:14Very disturbing. Obtained it.
- 35:17Yeah, OK, great. Yeah.
- 35:20I'm just going to obtain. It in my living room.
- 35:22Yeah, I didn't realize it was obtainable.
- 35:28Yeah, now I recommend it if you're into horror movies.
- 35:31If you're not horror movies, do not watch this.
- 35:34Yeah, but yeah. Is it more bloody or
- 35:37psychological? Both.
- 35:39Looks like a better, yeah. Yeah, it is.
- 35:41It's both. Like I said, it's, it's got some
- 35:44gore and it's also like, it's just, it's just a bit disturbing
- 35:48in a, in a good way if you like horror movies.
- 35:50But it probably I, I, I know some people would just be like,
- 35:54fuck that, yeah. Yeah, OK, good.
- 35:57I will watch that later on. Good.
- 36:02Very unique. I'm not seeing those things in
- 36:06this. I've not seen and I did not know
- 36:09where it was going. OK, even after you figure out
- 36:13kind of what's going on, I was like, what the fuck is this
- 36:16going on? When movies do that, Very few
- 36:19movies bother doing that anymore, do they?
- 36:21No, it's not that they don't bother to.
- 36:23It's hard to do. It is hard to do.
- 36:26It is hard to. There's been so many Movies Now.
- 36:28Yes, and the reason why a lot of movies do stick with the same
- 36:33thing is because works. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 36:39Can't fault that, I suppose. Yeah, a movie that you could buy
- 36:45tickets to soon, Matt, but you won't be able to see for a year
- 36:48is The Odyssey I. Saw a trailer for this before
- 36:51Superman. Did you?
- 36:53I saw a trailer online, yeah. I don't know, there's not a lot
- 36:57to it. I've seen it online.
- 36:58Yeah, there's not a lot to it, but there was no janky
- 37:01skeletons. I was upset.
- 37:04That's true, They were not. It's mostly just people talking
- 37:08about Odysseus. Yeah.
- 37:12And talk legends about him. He's that guy that did this and
- 37:15that and the other looks like eating a man really did all
- 37:18those things. And then it's like just a few
- 37:21shots. And then it was like, yeah,
- 37:22coming soon. Christian Nolan.
- 37:25Get your Dick out. And that was it.
- 37:30Well, it's funny you should say that because I watched The
- 37:32Return, which is the other movie about Decius right now.
- 37:36But it's not about the Odyssey. It's just about when he gets
- 37:38back, Ray finds and he does get his Dick out.
- 37:41There's a lot of Dick out is. There.
- 37:43He's in incredible shape though. Not talking about the Dick the
- 37:45Dick, just the Dick. Make make here on the UTI.
- 37:47Just worked it out. He's done a lot of Dicks, got
- 37:50biceps of its own. Yeah, yeah, that's it.
- 37:53It's got ABS all the way up the shaft.
- 37:59The ladies love it. Yeah, yeah.
- 38:06Yeah, yes, but the tickets for the Odyssey want to sell, which
- 38:09is weird because it's not not. Not out yet for fucking out next
- 38:12year, yeah. That's a very long time to be
- 38:15selling tickets because I. Don't.
- 38:16I can commit that. I want to see it, but I can't
- 38:18commit to the fucking night I want.
- 38:19To see it all, I'll watch it for sure.
- 38:21Yeah, I'll say this guys without any hyperbole.
- 38:26I think that Christopher Nolan is, or possibly has even
- 38:32surpassed Stanley Kubrick as the director who has pleased critics
- 38:40and fans equally and consistently throughout his
- 38:44career. What?
- 38:44What are we talking about? I hate all of his movies.
- 38:48You do. They want me to think, How did
- 38:52it end? Tell me how it ends.
- 38:53There are very few. There are very few directors who
- 38:58consistently will make movies that critics go is fucking great
- 39:01and people actually want to see. Like, like generally speaking,
- 39:05not you. Yes, obviously, Luke.
- 39:06You don't like them? But most people.
- 39:08Do yeah, OK. I mean he even made some Batman
- 39:13movies and critics were still like, they're the best Batman
- 39:15movies. We're on Batman movies were
- 39:17good. That's the other movies I'm not
- 39:18a fan of. That reminds me, in Sonic, there
- 39:21is a bit where one of Robotnik's trucks explodes and a bike comes
- 39:26out of it. Because of that conversation on
- 39:30this podcast from The Dark Knight.
- 39:34Yeah. Nolan is like, I mean, it
- 39:38worries me because, I mean, one day I guess he's going to fuck
- 39:41one of them up so badly. Like seems like directors always
- 39:44do, but when? My problem is I liked Tenet too
- 39:49much and I think that ruined that ruined Oppenheimer for me
- 39:57because I love Tenet so much that I was expecting Oppenheimer
- 40:01to be as good and for me it wasn't.
- 40:04With a lot of the directors, I think they actually lose touch
- 40:07when they're so good for so long.
- 40:08They lose touch with what? Yeah, that's.
- 40:11I agree that people like. Like Peter?
- 40:12Jackson in that team. Yeah, for example, like he lost
- 40:15touch from there. Quickly.
- 40:17Yeah. Very quickly, you in the same
- 40:21fucking universe. Yes.
- 40:24What happened there? I feel like King Kong, I was
- 40:26still on board with a little bit of a OK, and then it was just it
- 40:29was over. Same, but then again I went to
- 40:33see the frighteners before, even when when when he was still just
- 40:36the guy who made brain dead and bad taste and all of them and I
- 40:39and I saw the frightener I was like.
- 40:42And. Meet the feeble about this I
- 40:45had. Yeah, meet the feebles.
- 40:46Didn't quite hit it for me either, I must admit.
- 40:49I just like to remind people that's where he really started.
- 40:52Yeah. That's right.
- 40:54I think he made more money off Meet the Feebles than only three
- 40:56movies before that combined. Yeah.
- 41:00Dead Alive is very good. Dead alive, that's.
- 41:06Called Is that brain dead? Yeah, that's brain.
- 41:08Yeah. Yeah.
- 41:09Bad taste. Bad taste is yeah, aliens.
- 41:12Yeah, yeah, that's right. Yeah, Brain Dead is zombies.
- 41:15Yep. Yeah, yeah, that's right.
- 41:17Dead alive in America, right? Yes, look at that.
- 41:21I'm so American now. Yeah, you're gonna have to start
- 41:24saying Road Warrior instead of Mad Max 20.
- 41:27That's true. That's gonna get confusing.
- 41:28Yeah, I do have to say Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.
- 41:31People do ask. You don't know what a
- 41:33philosophy. Like Mad Max.
- 41:35And then I'm like, what do you mean by that?
- 41:38Yeah, it's yeah. I don't know what you've seen
- 41:40that you think is Mad Max, but the answer is yes.
- 41:43I fucking. Love that I like it.
- 41:44All, all incarnations of it, yes, but.
- 41:46You gotta go back. The first Mad Max is very
- 41:49different to all of. Them.
- 41:51Yeah, especially. It's not the future, it's just
- 41:53the fucking 80s in the country sound.
- 41:56Is that if you what? Do you?
- 41:57If you watched it here, it was dubbed with American accents.
- 42:00That's right. So and the dialogue was
- 42:01different. So.
- 42:05Yes. I don't know if we could watch
- 42:08that one version. It's I think I put a box set.
- 42:13When I had the DVDI switched, it switched audio tracks just just
- 42:16to hear it in that first scene where they were just in the car.
- 42:21You know, there's that, like, plain chicken scene.
- 42:24The night Rider, Yeah. The night rider.
- 42:26Oh, the night rider. It's an odd scene watching it
- 42:32again now. Yeah, but.
- 42:34He's playing chicken with him and he just starts.
- 42:36He gets upset. And it's like, but it's the
- 42:39whole movie's a bit like that. Yeah, it's a bit weird.
- 42:42Yeah, and they're all a bit weird in their own way, you
- 42:47know, and, and like, they're very camp they're.
- 42:50Extremely back then, it's just only now when you watch them you
- 42:52go that's fucking weird. Yeah, true, true.
- 42:56Especially Australian movies and action, just action movies in
- 43:00general from that era. It will always be weird.
- 43:03George Miller was a doctor. You probably know this, Dan.
- 43:05Did you know this? Yeah.
- 43:06And then Mad Max was written because he was just travelling
- 43:10around. He was like a travelling surgeon
- 43:13or something. And all these car accident
- 43:15victims. Yeah, yeah.
- 43:16And that's where he came up with.
- 43:17Yeah, he was like made in Australia.
- 43:19Cars are more likely to kill you than guns.
- 43:22Yeah, there should be an action movie where everyone gets killed
- 43:24by cars. Yeah, yeah.
- 43:26I thought that was interesting. Yeah, man, is it the second one
- 43:32where they trick him and he's not even taken the he thinks
- 43:39he's taking the petrol and he's not, He's a decoy.
- 43:41Is that the second one? Oh yeah, yeah.
- 43:43Yeah, it's the second one where yeah, he's driving, Yeah,
- 43:46driving the truck and yeah. He's driving the big rig.
- 43:49And Yep, humongous, whatever his.
- 43:51Name is and filled with. Sand I'm getting fucking
- 43:53goosebumps. What a fucking movie.
- 43:55Yeah, Rd. boy was great. Well, Mad Max 2 as we.
- 43:58Call it fucking fuck you, Matt, it's Mad Max 2.
- 44:02But then you get a bareback 3 Thunder Beyond Thunderdome, and
- 44:05that's completely different again.
- 44:07I've got a lot of time for it. I've got a lot of time for it.
- 44:11Well, we'll take it. Some of it's nostalgia.
- 44:13Some of it's the cinematography that shot.
- 44:16All the kids are sitting on the plane in the desert and it just.
- 44:18Swims around the sun's. Coming through behind, I'm like,
- 44:21fucking hell, Tina Turner. Tina Turner.
- 44:25Andrew Anderson, isn't it? That's right.
- 44:28Yeah, but then there's this. Lead 1 liners.
- 44:31The bit where he meets the kids, it's just like, yeah man, the
- 44:35scope straight like. But I like I like that people
- 44:40from a plash plashed crane, a crashed plane, like created
- 44:45their own mythology over misremembered, You know, they're
- 44:48waiting for the pilot to come back and all of that stuff.
- 44:50I'm like, that is good Mathola. That's good writing.
- 44:53Yeah, and they do the thing where they all get together and
- 44:55someone tells the story and like, it's very, very like
- 44:58Australian. I felt like, like, even though
- 45:01like we I keep saying like all the movies are different, it's
- 45:04because they're all meant to be different stories of bad backs
- 45:07and people just telling the story.
- 45:10Except one. Except Furiosa, which is the
- 45:13only one that's a direct prequel to.
- 45:16Yes. To Fury Ride.
- 45:18But it has that too because it's like at the end of you've also
- 45:23you've seen Fury. So both of you, right?
- 45:24No. No, OK.
- 45:26Oh, you haven't seen it. It is good.
- 45:28It is good. I didn't want to make it because
- 45:30everything nice. OK, OK.
- 45:34But at the end the narrator, I forget who narrates it, but they
- 45:37say like. We told you you didn't know it.
- 45:40This may or may not be true. You know, everything you've just
- 45:43seen may or may not be true. What happened to what's fucking
- 45:47Hemsworth's character again? You know, there's a lot of
- 45:51stories about what happened to him.
- 45:53And then he's like the one I like is the tree grew out of his
- 45:55Dick. Yeah.
- 45:57And then they show that. And then they show him like,
- 45:59yeah, yeah. And then it's like, OK, yeah,
- 46:03same thing. It's just all passed down.
- 46:06Yes, and it is very good. It's, it's it, it's not Fury
- 46:12Road. And you have to just remind
- 46:14yourself of that when you watch it, because Fury Rd's just on
- 46:17another level all on its own with no other movies except for
- 46:21Fury Rd. Because Fury Rd. he said.
- 46:23Remember when we did Mad Max 2 and there was that big chase
- 46:26sequence at the end? What if the whole movie?
- 46:29Yeah, and I didn't even know that when I went to see it at
- 46:32the cinema. I'm like 30 minutes in going,
- 46:35this is still the same chase at the end of the movie.
- 46:37You're like this, this whole movie's a chase.
- 46:40Is this one chase? That's literally what it is,
- 46:42yeah. Yeah.
- 46:44And then they go back. I said that's Jenna hates it
- 46:46because she's like they and they halfway through they just turn
- 46:48around and go back. And get away.
- 46:50Yeah, yeah, they do fucking so good, yeah.
- 46:59So the Odyssey tickets on sale but I I heard there was a bit of
- 47:04a bit of chaos about it. Oh, was there?
- 47:07Overwhelmingly popular and you may not have been able to get
- 47:09them, which is surprising. What I guess it shouldn't.
- 47:12Be. How can it be so there?
- 47:13Luke is like people want to see Chris.
- 47:15Yeah, although I'm confused. I think I'm confused because
- 47:19going to a movie in Australia at about at least in Canberra I can
- 47:23go in the first week and the cinema is still half empty at.
- 47:28Really. OK.
- 47:28The first week. See, I thought here, but then my
- 47:31like I said, when I saw Superman the other day, it was packed.
- 47:36Do you have to literally go into Canberra to go to the movies
- 47:39Luke, or is there a Queanbeyan cinema?
- 47:41Yeah, I'm in Tuggerdong at the moment and I can walk there.
- 47:44Yeah, right. And let's have a look.
- 47:47So I know what you did last summer because I was looking at
- 47:51going to see that today that. Sounds like a threat.
- 47:52Can we talk about that? Yeah, whole that the original.
- 47:57Love it. No.
- 47:58Oh yeah, same but I can't buy a ticket.
- 48:00For it now I was going to see, I was going to sort of show how
- 48:04many seats were available, right?
- 48:07I see latest. I wouldn't mind seeing this, I
- 48:12know what you did. Last I actually, I'm probably
- 48:14going to go see you tomorrow. As far as I know, it's directly
- 48:18related to. It's gone.
- 48:20Most of what I've seen about it was from Sarah Michelle Gellar's
- 48:23Yes, Instagram actually, and I was trying to remember, did she
- 48:27survive those movies? No, she was only in the first
- 48:29one, right? And she died.
- 48:30Yeah, correct. She died during the the How is?
- 48:33She in her or. She's been in publicity.
- 48:36For Freddie Prinz. 'S oh, Freddie.
- 48:37OK, Of course he is. He was a main character.
- 48:39Yeah, good point. Good point.
- 48:40All right. Who hasn't been an actor this
- 48:42whole time? He's just been a chef.
- 48:44Yes, yeah. Yeah, he.
- 48:46Just said I would I would love to hang out with him.
- 48:48He just she does skating. Stuff too.
- 48:51Yeah, right. Yeah, yeah.
- 48:53He's a cool dude and he's got they.
- 48:55Both seem cool. But Jennifer Love Hewitt was at
- 48:58the premiere. Yes, she's in it and.
- 49:01People are talking about her. Yeah.
- 49:05They're still talking about her breasts.
- 49:07Because this used. To be the.
- 49:08Well, no, actually, they're talking about the rest of her.
- 49:10Yeah, they're talking about how the rest of her is finally
- 49:12caught up to her breasts. Yeah, Oh.
- 49:15Yeah, not to be mean, but she's she's put on a lot of weight, it
- 49:19seems. But The thing is, but I don't
- 49:21know, I kind of like it because like, she's just like a normal
- 49:25person now. You know, which is fine.
- 49:28This could be a girl I stood next to in line for chips at the
- 49:32Warrington Fish and Chip shop. You know, that's like a movie
- 49:35star, and I quite like that. Yeah, that's right.
- 49:38Yeah. Yeah, that's all because I'm
- 49:42looking at the. People that are being quite mean
- 49:44though. Yeah, of course.
- 49:45I'm looking at like the post right now and she looks great.
- 49:49Yeah. Yeah, look, just type in, type
- 49:51in Sarah Mitchell, Not So Mitchell Killer Jennifer Love
- 49:55Hewitt premiere and see if you see.
- 50:01There's one photo that's very unflattering and I'm assuming
- 50:04it's it's probably like not an accuracy actually, you know
- 50:08what? I just thought of something else
- 50:09that I don't know if we talked about this.
- 50:10I think I think we did talk about it.
- 50:12Talk about Bryce. Tell us how his butt.
- 50:14Yeah, we did. OK.
- 50:16We at least. We at least talked about it
- 50:18offline. Yeah, yeah, I saw, because I saw
- 50:21the photo of it was someone had done a comparison of a photo of
- 50:24her standing sideways and then a photo of the Jurassic Park
- 50:28poster. And then yes, it's considerably
- 50:31they they did reduce her her ass.
- 50:34But no, I'm looking, I'm looking at, I'm looking at her now.
- 50:37She looks great. Yeah, yeah.
- 50:40I mean, how old is she now? Who gives a fuck?
- 50:42Like. She must be our age.
- 50:45She'd be a little bit older than us.
- 50:47Yeah, she's gonna have to. She looks better than us like.
- 50:51Yeah, leave her the fuck alone. Yeah, yeah, I'd still go there.
- 50:55So yeah. Jen, if you're listening.
- 50:58We can put can't hardly wait on and I'll I'll look at that while
- 51:01I'm doing it, but. Yeah, yeah.
- 51:05No, I think she looks great. I think people are just mean.
- 51:08Yeah. I agree with that and she
- 51:10probably looks. Better than a lot of people who
- 51:12are making fun of her. I I I wish if you made fun of a
- 51:15woman's looks online, you had to post a picture of yourself next
- 51:18to your comments. You know what?
- 51:19I. Mean This is why I always.
- 51:20There'll be a lot less comments. I hate the anonymity of the
- 51:24Internet where you can just create an account, no relation
- 51:29back to you and say whatever you want.
- 51:31Or for saying what you want. Even if you're in good shape,
- 51:33shut your mouth. It's not up for you to say
- 51:35anything about that. Woman.
- 51:37More for saying what you want, but you need to back it up by
- 51:40you saying it and people knowing.
- 51:41Well the Internet is also you're saying things from far away and
- 51:45you can still cause damage online.
- 51:46But it used to be that if you called someone fat they could
- 51:49punch you in the face. Like the reason you weren't mean
- 51:53to people so you didn't get punched in the face.
- 51:56Now it's just there's no repercussions.
- 51:59It wasn't mean to anybody. Yeah.
- 52:00People, people just go on the Internet just to be mean and
- 52:04enjoy it because nothing could ever come back to them.
- 52:08Yeah, it sucks, but I'll I'll be interested to see the new.
- 52:14I know what you did last summer. Yeah, I'm going to go see it
- 52:16tomorrow, so I'll let you know next week, all.
- 52:18Right. Cool.
- 52:18Yeah, the original 1 was great. I'm going to see this and I'm
- 52:22going to see Fantastic Four. Oh wait, when is that out?
- 52:26I'd. Like next week.
- 52:28Oh man, yeah, I want to see that.
- 52:31So I think my my understanding of this one I've seen from the
- 52:35other movies and this one is it's they're in an alternative
- 52:38universe. Seems like it.
- 52:40So they don't seem pretty. Sure about the superheroes.
- 52:43I have a feeling 50s or something.
- 52:44Right. Yeah, yeah, future, but 50s.
- 52:48But I have a feeling that they're going to lose.
- 52:51Right. And that's why they're going to
- 52:53come to the MCU because, right, the universe got destroyed or
- 53:00something. Oh, by.
- 53:01Yes, that's my theory. Gotcha.
- 53:04All right. OK, yeah, I could be very, very
- 53:08wrong, but that's just no. That sounds good.
- 53:10I, I just, I've, I've lost all interest in Marvel.
- 53:14No, generally speaking, actually.
- 53:15I saw the trailer for this before.
- 53:17It's. Something that is good against
- 53:19good, but there was there's got 80 from the other day.
- 53:23Stranger Things. It's got Pedro Pesa.
- 53:25It's got Vanessa Kirby. Come on.
- 53:27Yeah. You want to see the brother?
- 53:29Like Vanessa Curvy, am I right? Brother, I forget who he is, he
- 53:33just looks weird. What thing?
- 53:36Not the thing. John, Johnny.
- 53:40Johnny, he looks weird. I don't know, there's something,
- 53:42his hair or something. It's.
- 53:44Stranger Things. Yeah, yeah, he just looks weird
- 53:46though. He doesn't.
- 53:47His hair. It's a bad wig.
- 53:50But that's the that's the point, right?
- 53:52Is that everyone's got like fucking knitted turtlenecks and
- 53:54stuff instead of. No, it's a bad wig.
- 53:57Just it doesn't work. I don't remember.
- 54:00Hold on. There's something too, about
- 54:02Pedro Pascal's accent in it that I know it's it's very
- 54:06appropriate. It's just, it's just sounds
- 54:08strange coming out of his mouth. I don't know why.
- 54:11But no, I forget, I saw a Marvel movie just the other week and I
- 54:14can't remember what it was. Oh, I saw The Avengers.
- 54:18New Avengers. Oh, Thunderbolts.
- 54:20Thunderbolts. And I know.
- 54:22I think that's Israel here. And I think you're used to
- 54:24seeing him in a wig in Stranger Things.
- 54:26I think that's what it is. I don't know.
- 54:29He's just too short to be a wig. He looks.
- 54:31Off to me, yeah. It's because he's blonde as
- 54:33well. He just looks weird.
- 54:36I don't he's. On fire as well.
- 54:38That's sorry, he's not. He's not normally on fire and.
- 54:40Flying. That's fine when he's on fire.
- 54:43Not usually standing next to Vanessa Kirby.
- 54:46Yeah, that you can get distracted.
- 54:48Ben Grimm. Who's Ben Grimm?
- 54:51The Thing? Who is that actor?
- 54:55I do. That's a good cast.
- 54:58In fact, Fantastic Four music sounds good too.
- 55:01Oh, I need to talk about the music from Superman.
- 55:04Oh sure, I don't like it. I'm sorry, Luke, I have to
- 55:07disagree with you. I thought they did a great job.
- 55:10Does it have the impact I want? No, I know because it's not it.
- 55:15They're just lift the John Williams.
- 55:18They've adapted the John Williams score into a modern
- 55:21superhero score, which I know everyone says that's more
- 55:23blonde, but that is what they are like now.
- 55:24And I, I, I like it. I think it's good, but it is the
- 55:28the thing that's funny. I listen to the whole soundtrack
- 55:30album a bunch of times this week and they are fucking allergic to
- 55:34completing a phrase. John Williams score, Look.
- 55:40At it, it'll go like they, I think one time on the soundtrack
- 55:49it very quietly goes like like it's just so I can see why it
- 55:55would be like the blue balls for someone who loves the John
- 55:59Williams music. Did your mate Hans do the F1
- 56:01soundtrack? Am I right in the yes, he did,
- 56:04yes. Have you listened to that?
- 56:05Yeah, it's good. It's very synth heavy.
- 56:07It's good. OK, I like it.
- 56:08Cool. Yeah, it seems like the theme
- 56:11for Superman mostly is the like they've taken that little
- 56:18snippet like and they don't do the rest of it often.
- 56:22Right. Right, and that's why I don't
- 56:24like it. I get it.
- 56:25That's. OK, it's a.
- 56:26Different I see I I like it, I think they.
- 56:28Do I think the next movie we get is, I think, Supergirl?
- 56:32Yes. Yes.
- 56:33Is she? She's in this?
- 56:35Yeah. Is she actually in this?
- 56:37Very. Who is it?
- 56:38Is she wearing a jacket? I've seen pictures of her.
- 56:41In a jacket, Yes. She comes back from somewhere.
- 56:45Oh, Superman said. A slight spoiler, I guess,
- 56:47Superman says to the Oh, God, Gary, yeah, you're going to see
- 56:53this. Damn, it's fucking great, He
- 56:54says. Oh yeah, she likes to go to
- 56:56planets with the red sun because we can get drunk there.
- 56:59Yep, and she's white girl wasted.
- 57:03Nice. Oh, what?
- 57:05OK. Or so yeah, they can't get drunk
- 57:07on Earth because of the yellow sun.
- 57:12They can get buff though. That's what I could never
- 57:13understand. Superman.
- 57:15How does he work out his? Muscles doesn't need to the
- 57:18yellow sun just wise it for. Him.
- 57:20No, but then. But then no.
- 57:21But they shouldn't be big because he's strong.
- 57:23So lifting things that wouldn't lifting things on Earth, the
- 57:27gravity of Earth wouldn't build his muscles.
- 57:30He should be. It's not Cavil in this either,
- 57:33though. Where Cavil, you know, Cavil's
- 57:34got his shirt off in. I mean, it's not and he's just
- 57:36ripped like. Yeah, he's not.
- 57:39You never, I don't think you ever even see him without.
- 57:42He's always clothed and he's got more Armory type suit.
- 57:46He is big and he's, he's very obviously he's in very good
- 57:49shape, but he's not. Do they explain in this where he
- 57:52gets the suit? You know, various versions have
- 57:54explained that before. No, it's just I'm a Superman.
- 57:56He's just got it. He's a.
- 57:57Superman Yeah, OK. Great.
- 57:59You don't know where he gets the suit.
- 58:01You don't. They refer to you see his
- 58:02parents and stuff and he's already got the.
- 58:05His parents is in Man Park, Kent, or his parents are in
- 58:09both? Oh, OK.
- 58:10And he's also got his secret thing in the Antarctica.
- 58:14Fortress of solitude. Fortress of Solitude.
- 58:16He's already got that. Just.
- 58:17The robots. Yep.
- 58:19Yeah, right. Robots that look after it for
- 58:21him. I know what Superman we.
- 58:22Didn't talk about this. Nicholas Hull is Lex fucking
- 58:24great. Yes.
- 58:25Yeah, great, great. Yeah, everybody's great, you
- 58:28know. I gotta make time, gotta make
- 58:30time. Anyway, sorry, I'm sorry to.
- 58:33No, back to that. We can talk about Superman of
- 58:36any ilk. I just really loved it, and
- 58:38again, the first time I've liked Superman in a very long time.
- 58:41Also, sorry, I did think of something else.
- 58:43I want to say it does. Have I noticed I noticed it
- 58:46because I was like I'm enjoying this if but if this was a Zack
- 58:49Snyder movie, this insane action because it's a very big fight
- 58:54scene at the end. I'm not going to spoil anything
- 58:57and but I enjoyed it because it was fun.
- 59:01It was not fucking dire and like they weren't just throwing
- 59:07fucking buildings at each other and but but but actually, I
- 59:09guess technically they were, but it's just fun Made it.
- 59:12Wasn't sure. Yeah, dories also progressing at
- 59:15the same time as well. It's not just a battle.
- 59:19They're not exploiting each other.
- 59:20That's. Yeah, and it's not things, it's
- 59:22not just focusing that we know. We know where like, for example,
- 59:25one of the jokes about Man of Steel was that they destroy
- 59:28Metropolis and it's like, did they just fucking kill
- 59:30everybody? Like what happened there?
- 59:32Thousands said. It's very clear what's going on,
- 59:36like and and why that's not the case kind of thing.
- 59:39Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 59:40OK. Yeah.
- 59:44You know, when we first saw the photos on set, we were like, it
- 59:48looks a bit weird him just walking around in the day.
- 59:50But I guess once, once you see it in the movie, maybe it'll
- 59:52it'll work. But then the trailer came out
- 59:55and it looks like he's just walking around in the day too.
- 59:58Does it? Does it look OK?
- 59:59Like like Superman. Yeah, yeah, Yeah, it does,
- 1:00:02because everything is like that. Like, you know, like they've all
- 1:00:04got, you know, like Green Lantern and Hawker all there.
- 1:00:06They've all got the costumes on. So it just doesn't.
- 1:00:08Sure. And yeah, like I even thought I
- 1:00:11was watching the trailer, Mr. Terrific.
- 1:00:12I was like, oh, that was weird. No, it doesn't want to once you.
- 1:00:14Yeah, Yeah, it's OK. Great, great.
- 1:00:16Also he's the weirdest of all the characters in there, but
- 1:00:19it's. Terrific.
- 1:00:20Yeah. Fucking funny though, Yes, I
- 1:00:24yeah, I grew to love him. Who plays Mr. Terrific or
- 1:00:27anybody? I don't know his name.
- 1:00:29He. He.
- 1:00:29Actually he was in X-Men first class.
- 1:00:33Oh, OK, OK. Yeah, very briefly.
- 1:00:36They killed him off in that. Yeah, there's an article about
- 1:00:39that, Yeah. So if they're keeping Pacemaker,
- 1:00:45are they keeping Batman? The Suicide Squad.
- 1:00:50Yeah, I don't know. Because I would be 100% OK with
- 1:00:54what was the dude with the fucking the polka dots from some
- 1:00:58size Pokémon. Man, he's fucking great, bring
- 1:01:01him in. Yeah.
- 1:01:03Didn't he die? Oh, did he poke a time?
- 1:01:06Remember. Did he?
- 1:01:07That's David Dust. Monkey, and I think he might
- 1:01:09have. Have you seen?
- 1:01:11Yeah. Have you seen the talk show
- 1:01:13movie he's in? Yeah.
- 1:01:14Yeah, yeah. Like that with the devil.
- 1:01:16Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's great.
- 1:01:18He's great. Have you seen his podcast Grave
- 1:01:21Conversations where he has people on and they lie in a
- 1:01:24coffin? They both lie in coffins and
- 1:01:26then they talk? That's so funny.
- 1:01:29What I like about him as an actor is that he's a, he's a
- 1:01:33weird looking guy, just a completely weird looking guy.
- 1:01:36And yet in Late Night with the Devil, he plays a handsome
- 1:01:39person, and so he's just handsome in it.
- 1:01:41Like he just acts like. Acts handsome and he is
- 1:01:45handsome. Yeah, yeah, He's always, I've
- 1:01:47always seen as odd characters. And so I always thought, oh,
- 1:01:51he's odd. But then you see him, like I
- 1:01:52said, yeah, in that. And you go, Oh, no, no, he's
- 1:01:54quite, he's charming. And charming, yeah.
- 1:01:56Yeah, it's just he always plays fucking freaks.
- 1:01:58But no, I think they'll keep. They're gonna keep Peace
- 1:02:00Breaker. I think they'll keep Harley
- 1:02:01Quinn. Yeah, sure.
- 1:02:04Surely if he's if he's gonna make an argument for anyone.
- 1:02:08That's the cool about this. Is that all?
- 1:02:11I think all the actors in Superman probably got were
- 1:02:13available a bit cheaper than true of the other actors that
- 1:02:16they've had. And if they've got a if they've
- 1:02:20got a little blonde girl, IE Supergirl, they might not need a
- 1:02:23Harley Quinn. Different characters I know, but
- 1:02:25especially if they've made her. Sloppy drunk.
- 1:02:28Only reason I think they keep Harley Quinn because she was in
- 1:02:31a James Glenn movie. What?
- 1:02:32Are they going to do with Batman though?
- 1:02:34Because I don't think Rob Pattinson will be the Batman,
- 1:02:37no. That.
- 1:02:37He's already come out saying that's not happening.
- 1:02:39Yeah, because this, this the tone of Superman is not going to
- 1:02:43fit with the. Tone I I.
- 1:02:46Batman movie. I loved Batman 89.
- 1:02:49I loved all the fucking Dark Knight but I'll watch of camp
- 1:02:54colourful Batman any day. Sure, you know if they if James
- 1:02:57Gunn wants to do blue and grey Batman, I'm all in for.
- 1:03:00That hey, my favorite Batman is still Adam West.
- 1:03:05Yeah, it's so funny that that I often wonder too, if they'd done
- 1:03:10a Superman in that same era, you know, where the where the things
- 1:03:14would have been different with that as well.
- 1:03:16To me, Batman and Superman in my mind are the, what's it called
- 1:03:21the the toy line that came out in the 80s superpowered
- 1:03:25collection or something. You know the ones, you squeeze
- 1:03:28their legs and they punch like this.
- 1:03:29Oh, sure. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:03:32That that's just, that's how they are in my head.
- 1:03:33That's just how they should always.
- 1:03:35Be not for me. Yeah, You've got Superman is
- 1:03:42Chris Reeves, Batman is Adam West, and that's all we need.
- 1:03:47There's been some data that's that's made those two into into
- 1:03:52single frames, which is very cool.
- 1:03:54How awful would it have been if they they did have them in the
- 1:03:57same movie? I mean.
- 1:04:00What the shit out of that? Would have worked tonally, but
- 1:04:03sure. Would have been fine.
- 1:04:05I would have made it work. Did you did you watch the Batman
- 1:04:09cartoon movie that Adam Westenberg Ward did the voices
- 1:04:13for? Oh no, I meant to watch.
- 1:04:14That. But was that the one that Kevin
- 1:04:15Smith has picked together? Oh.
- 1:04:17Probably there's a scene where they're chasing some fucking
- 1:04:21criminal, He runs across the street and Robin goes to chase
- 1:04:23him and he's like, no, Robin. Just because they break the law
- 1:04:25doesn't mean we have to. And they go to the crossing and
- 1:04:27just press the button and just wait there.
- 1:04:29I think Ralph Diamond did a lot of voices.
- 1:04:31Absolutely captures. There's this one bit where they
- 1:04:36put on this giant TV dinner tray and they're going into the
- 1:04:39microwave. It's so good.
- 1:04:41It's. It is the 60s Batman.
- 1:04:43Yeah. I've I've one last thing to say
- 1:04:45about Superman. We talked touched about a little
- 1:04:47week and you asked me to keep an eye out for this Luke.
- 1:04:49You asked me to try and figure out why people were saying
- 1:04:52Superman was woke. Yes.
- 1:04:53Oh yes. Could you tell me, are you woke
- 1:04:56now? Think that these people have not
- 1:04:59seen the movie because I would say that Superman you could
- 1:05:03argue other people in the film are or are not work, but I think
- 1:05:08Superman is explicitly apolitical in this movie to the
- 1:05:12point where that's what gets him in trouble is that he's he's
- 1:05:15explicitly. Saying I will help.
- 1:05:18Anybody. I don't fucking care who.
- 1:05:20He is. I'm going to help him.
- 1:05:22He actually just pick a side. He goes, I don't like this
- 1:05:25country inviting this country. I'm going to get involved and
- 1:05:27stop. And then they're like, did you
- 1:05:29ask the president? And he's like, I don't fucking
- 1:05:31care what he thinks. I'm going to.
- 1:05:33Do the right thing. Yeah, that's and I was like,
- 1:05:35he's yeah, he's so not woke. He's just he's.
- 1:05:39Like, yeah, yeah. He will do what he thinks is
- 1:05:42right, whether you like it or not.
- 1:05:44But that's always been Superman. And The thing is, it's just that
- 1:05:48he was fighting for the American way, right?
- 1:05:51But he was always, like, quite a conservative character.
- 1:05:54Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:05:57Like his whole thing is that he he causes this situation because
- 1:05:59he's just like, he doesn't care what he.
- 1:06:02He thought Jesus people were going to be murdered by inviting
- 1:06:05country and he stopped it. Yeah, the whole I will not let
- 1:06:09anybody die. Stop it.
- 1:06:10Don't care who you are. And that's why if you listen to
- 1:06:13the people saying it's woke and then you listen to what they're
- 1:06:16saying, you go, you haven't actually seen this.
- 1:06:19Yeah, no. They're reacting to what James
- 1:06:23Gunn or Sean Gunn or both said outside, which is just was a
- 1:06:26little bit of jab it. And I think.
- 1:06:28But yeah, but I think that was also purposely provocative.
- 1:06:32Because even there's a, I saw, I was watching, there's a Tucker
- 1:06:36Carlson kind of facsimile in this.
- 1:06:38And I was like, oh, people be mad about this, but he doesn't.
- 1:06:41They don't even make they don't say anything about it.
- 1:06:44It's just a a character who's clearly supposed to be Tucker
- 1:06:47Carlson acting as Tucker Carlson acts and playing a part in the
- 1:06:51plot. But like, and and if you watch
- 1:06:53that and you go, they're making fun of him, Well, sorry, he's
- 1:06:56just doing exactly what fucking Tucker Carlson.
- 1:06:58So if you have a problem with that, you know.
- 1:07:00Like. Yeah.
- 1:07:02Well, actually reminds me somebody got saw on Instagram
- 1:07:05today, there's a girl who's wearing like a Nazis deserve a
- 1:07:10platform and it's just basically like a like, oh, but it's a
- 1:07:16guillotine. Oh yeah, or I was going to say,
- 1:07:19like a hangman's thing. Yeah, Galas.
- 1:07:21Galas, thank you. Thank you.
- 1:07:23She was actually stopped. She was actually, she said like
- 1:07:25she was stopped by someone going.
- 1:07:27Is that what you think of Trump's supporters?
- 1:07:28And she's like, no, this is about Nazis.
- 1:07:33If you're thinking that this is trouble, maybe you need to
- 1:07:36consider what you're making the connection, not me.
- 1:07:39Yes. Are you saying I should be hung?
- 1:07:41Are you a Nazi? No.
- 1:07:42I'm sorry. What?
- 1:07:43What is happening? Yes.
- 1:07:46That's, that's like when that Israeli spokesperson was like,
- 1:07:50I, I, we resent our genocide being compared to the Nazi
- 1:07:55genocide. Ours is not a genocide.
- 1:08:01Oh yeah, the other thing too, just real quick.
- 1:08:04And then we should have the after party.
- 1:08:05I've heard people say, and I, I did, I didn't, I could, I can
- 1:08:11see how you would do this, but I was like, it's probably not
- 1:08:13intentional. People comparing the, the the
- 1:08:15the conflict in this movie to Israel Palestine.
- 1:08:19And except I, I thought this when I was watching it and James
- 1:08:22Gunn said this as well. This was written well.
- 1:08:25Before. Well before.
- 1:08:26And shot before it was happened, so the fact that it happened is
- 1:08:30an unfortunate coincidence. But I also don't see it as being
- 1:08:34a direct because. No, but you could if you.
- 1:08:36It wouldn't be hard to make that you'd.
- 1:08:38Have no, but it's one. There's a.
- 1:08:40Country invading another country and like.
- 1:08:42Yeah, bus gonna happen. It's like, but there's one
- 1:08:46country that is like has tanks and everything, and there's
- 1:08:49another country where we've got pitchforks like that's not the.
- 1:08:53People think that's what James, what's happening, Israel and
- 1:08:55Palestine. So I'm saying people are reading
- 1:08:57into it and going, oh, what is James?
- 1:08:58And James Gunn was like, sorry, that had not happened about
- 1:09:01that. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:09:03Well, some stuff that happened. Yeah, but had been for 100
- 1:09:06years. Like, yeah, that's what I mean.
- 1:09:08So I I maybe. But it was like how?
- 1:09:10For decades the the Russians were the baddies and everything
- 1:09:14and then when the Cold War ended it was weird watching them and
- 1:09:16now it's totally OK again. Yeah, that's why I.
- 1:09:21Mentioned that and then he was like no, no, no, I there wasn't
- 1:09:24a thing at the time that I that's why this movie.
- 1:09:27Top Gun's so good, you don't know who they're fighting.
- 1:09:29Yeah, just a generic country. What about Top Gun?
- 1:09:32Yeah, it's two made-up countries.
- 1:09:34Yes, in this. Oh, it's literally just a
- 1:09:36metropolis is a made-up place as well, correct?
- 1:09:38So yeah. It's 2 because it's not New
- 1:09:40York. It's not.
- 1:09:42Yeah, yeah. Marvel's the only one that goes,
- 1:09:45yeah, we're in New York. Yeah, that's true.
- 1:09:49They always did that, didn't they?
- 1:09:52You know what it's not a made-up place is the after party.
- 1:09:55It's not made-up, it exists on the Internet.
- 1:09:58It's fun to pay. For it, how much do you have to
- 1:10:01pay for it, Luke? $5.
- 1:10:04How much does Nate have to pay for it?
- 1:10:05A. $100, Sorry. Bring this up again.
- 1:10:07Has Nate. Has Nate received satisfaction
- 1:10:10yet? I've received folks have not
- 1:10:12heard anything they got I'm ready in you off he's.
- 1:10:16Given up, He's given up. I'm ready to go.
- 1:10:20And it's like, mate, I could use my hand myself.
- 1:10:25Nate, that's. What everybody does when they
- 1:10:27listen to the after party, I assume.
- 1:10:28Yeah, head to patreon.com/multiple Nurgasm and
- 1:10:33you can, for $5 a month, get the after party where we continue
- 1:10:35talking. Or for 100.
- 1:10:38Dollars. It's not a lot.
- 1:10:39It's less than, it's only slightly more than what Luke is
- 1:10:42willing to spend on a Thai prostitute.
- 1:10:44And $100 I'll do what? Get 2 1/2 Thai prostitutes.
- 1:10:47Don't say that because we've you, don't you?
- 1:10:50Don't. You don't do anything.
- 1:10:51Yeah, you don't do anything. The phrase put your money where
- 1:10:54your mouth is. Don't ask me to do anything.
- 1:10:57So I think I'm still upholding my into the bargain.
- 1:11:02Perhaps I'd also I don't see any of this money.
- 1:11:07That's all for this week, thank you for listening and we hope
