- 0:37I'm Kelly Siegel and this is Harder Than Life, a podcast about self-love, self-awareness, business, and health. We tell outrageous stories and boil everything down to simple, practical advice you can start using today. Let's get living. Welcome back, HCL Nation. It's your guy, Kelly Siegel, and you're listening to the Harder
- 1:02Real growth and real transformation. Today, we're diving deep into one of the simplest yet most powerful truths about success. Small changes lead to massive results. I'm not talking about flashy overnight transformations. I'm talking about the quiet, consistent adjustments you make every single day. Literally, consistent.
- 1:25what I post every morning on my stories, what I try sharing with you behind the scenes, including the negative things because feeling is healing. Whether you're stuck right now or if you're grinding but feeling healing,
- 1:42Like you're not getting anywhere fast. Sounds like me. This episode is for you. And let me remind you, you're not alone in this journey. I've been exactly where you are. And I'm here today to share how making tiny, consistent tweaks can completely change your life. So buckle up, get ready. Because today is the day you start turning those small changes into big, life-altering results. Before we dive into this, I want to share with you some things.
- 2:11some kind of organizational changes. Not changes, just small tweaks we're making. I put a post up in my stories and asked for some show topics, these Thursday one-on-ones, which I love doing now. I struggled doing them when I first started, but I love it and the feedback's been amazing. And I asked for some more topics.
- 2:31And I got a ton of feedback. So I am going to start doing those very shortly. And we are going to have mechanisms for you all, for me to listen to you, which I do. I pay attention to everything you guys are saying and for you to submit show topics. And then I will air them, providing that enough people say, yay. We're going to share with you some things. We're going to provide a system to do just this. So please, please.
- 3:00Keep following, keep sharing. And if you would, so we can get more and more bigger guests on this podcast for Tuesdays, please leave a review and leave a comment. Give me five stars. Pretty pleased with Sugar on top. But having said that, a lot of new changes coming. We're moving into our studios to Florida.
- 3:24And a lot of things are gonna be happening. The book launch for Happier Than Life's gonna hit. So a lot of cool, amazing, fun things. Please share the show. It helps the algorithm, helps us retain bigger sponsors and algorithms, all that good stuff. So leave a review, pretty please. So the myth of instant change. Let's talk about it. All right. As usual, I'm gonna get brutally honest with you. We're sold a lie every day that success happens fast, that overnight success is real.
- 3:55I can tell you after sitting through metrics, measuring all the stuff we're doing at Heart of the Life, as well as national technology management, man, an overnight success is someone who's worked for 25 years, and then all of a sudden it all worked together. So I'm here to tell you that it takes years of small, consistent actions.
- 4:19It took me years, literally five years of losing money to build that national technology management. Years to build my physical foundation and years to build and maintain mental mastery.
- 4:36It didn't happen instantly, nothing worth having ever does. Because if it came easy, everybody would be doing it and it wouldn't be special. Here's the good news. It doesn't take massive leaps every day. It takes small, consistent steps and consistency compounds, like a snowball effect, but in a positive way. Think about it this way. I'm an avid reader, but if you read just 10 pages a day,
- 5:06over the last couple of years, got me through over 300 books. 10 minutes of daily meditation transformed my mental clarity and emotional intelligence. Just 10 minutes. Again, I've done it every single day this year. At the time I'm recording this,
- 5:28a little over halfway through the year. Small actions consistently done create unstoppable momentum and unshakable confidence, guys. Do what you say you're going to do. Don't negotiate with yourself. You've heard me say this over and over and over again a million times. You're probably sick of me hearing it, but keep the promises you make to yourself and to everybody else, and that builds confidence. Okay.
- 5:52So let's talk to science for a second. Research from Duke University found that around 45% of our daily actions are habits. Not conscience decisions, but habits. Imagine if you just half of those habits moved you toward your goals instead of away from them. Notice, a majority of those habits tend to be negative.
- 6:18It can be eating sweets. It could be pouring yourself a drink. It could be stopping and scrolling every break you have. So the question is simple. Are your daily habits setting you up for massive success or quietly sabotaging your future? Hmm. Inquiring minds want to know. So it's three small changes which will give you massive impact. Let's get very specific here.
- 6:48There are exactly three powerful examples of small changes you can implement immediately. Trust me, these will change your life. First change. We've heard it. Your morning routine. Years ago, I didn't have a morning routine. I woke up, grabbed my phone, reacted to life.
- 7:08Now I own my mornings. My daily routine is simple and yours can be too. Now before you get into the daily routine, it doesn't mean that you have to follow this to a T. Just take the points that absolutely resonate with you that I do. Well, the one thing that you will read supreme that every person understands,
- 7:31in this self-improvement space will tell you is don't grab your phone the first thing and think gratitude and positive mental images. So,
- 7:41Step one, wake up earlier, even if it's just 30 minutes. You guys all know I wake up at 4 a.m. If you wake up at 6, don't immediately say, I got to do what Kelly does. I'm going to wake up at 4. Wake up 30 minutes earlier for a week and then 30 minutes earlier for the next week. And until you get to the point that works for you. I assure you, I didn't just start waking up at 4 a.m. I...
- 8:04Played with that and I do find that that just is the best time for me to get out of bed. If I sleep a little later, I'm off. My whole day is off. So the second thing I do is express gratitude. I say three things that I'm grateful for.
- 8:19And it could just be as simple as a beautiful night's sleep. It could be waking up in the cool air if it's summer or warm air. If it's winter, it could be my cat laying next to me. It could be my girlfriend. Just three things. And it needs to be three different things. I usually don't recycle.
- 8:41The three things for a week. So if I say I'm grateful that my daughter is sleeping in the other room and safe, I don't say that again for another week. But it's usually just simple and easy things. And sometimes it's just for what my day is going to look like. I'm grateful for another day and another smooth day of having fun and challenges that grow me.
- 9:02Third thing I do is meditate. Start with 10 minutes, quiet your mind. I use the Daily Calm app. It's a guided meditation. It's, I don't know, six bucks a month. I don't make any money off of that, so that's just who I use, it's very simple. You can get free stuff off of YouTube, or you can just meditate to yourself and set a timer. Again, you're grabbing your phone so it gets a little bit difficult, so be careful with that.
- 9:27Then I immediately pop out and number three thing is move your body. Even a quick workout boost your energy all day. I find that if I don't work out first thing in the morning, talk about habits by the way, like even if I try to not work out, my body gets dressed and starts heading to the gym. So I deviate from that. I find my whole entire day is off.
- 9:52Wake up early, express gratitude, meditate, and move your body. I said it was going to be three, but I gave you four because apparently I can't count. This isn't about perfection. It's about daily discipline. Try it tomorrow. Tell me your day doesn't immediately get better. I'm telling you this. I live and die, boy. So another thing to do, I want you auditing your time, guys. Every six months, I do a detailed time audit. For one week, I track how I spend every 15 minutes of my day.
- 10:22Yes, every 15 minutes. If you go longer, it messes everything up. If you go shorter, it's too short. What I discovered, I was wasting hours on emails and social media distractions.
- 10:37Now at Lowe's, faster quotes start at the Lowe's Pro Desk. Got a material list handwritten on a sticky note or saved as a photo? Perfect. Bring it to us and get a quote in minutes. And if you don't see what you need on the shelf, we'll help you get it. You can access thousands of products beyond what's available in-store or on Lowe's.com right from the Lowe's Pro Desk. Build quotes faster and source the materials you need to keep your jobs moving. Just like that at Lowe's.
- 11:06Once I delegated and automated those tasks, my productivity exploded.
- 11:10Now you go, I can't do that. Yes, you can. Emails, it was just a placeholder for other people's problems. I started off with a virtual assistant, then I got a full-time assistant, and now I got another full-time assistant who's going to have an assistant because it frees you up to think and do bigger things. And social media, I love it. It's necessary. It's a great thing in this world, but man, it is a distraction.
- 11:38So try it for yourself, track your time this week, find at least one task you can delegate or automate, small changes, big impact. Now I will tell you that you can go to ChatGBT and you can download that tracker. I got one from Craig Ballantyne, who's the obsessed, amazing human, but you can just go in and download those trackers anywhere. ChatGBT is an easy one.
- 12:05It is much easier to eliminate negativity than it is to add positivity. What I mean is...
- 12:15if I want to start this daily workouts at 4 a.m. and I'm going to eat right and I'm going to do all these things to get everything right. Or it's so much easier to just stop going to the bar, stop scrolling social media, stop hanging out with those negative high school friends, stop being around the water cooler at work where everybody's talking about how they hate the boss or they hate the company or the world is falling or they hate Trump. It's,
- 12:40Guys, negativity. So as you guys all know, I used to drink alcohol regularly, think it was part of being successful, networking or relaxing. But when I finally cut out alcohol, my life transformed dramatically. My physical health improved, my relationships improved, my productivity improved, all from removing one negative habit. Albeit, that's a pretty big negative habit. And what came with it
- 13:10was other collateral damage where I started feeling everything and I realized why I was drinking. So be careful what you remove. It can be smaller than that, like just something as simple as, I'm not gonna eat sweets at night, I'm not gonna eat popcorn when I'm watching it, I'm not gonna Netflix, or sit on the couch and watch Netflix. I'm gonna replace it with a book. Just a little one habit. So what's your one habit? Is it alcohol? Is it junk food?
- 13:37Endless scrolling on your phone? Talking about people? Drama? Ugh, no thank you. Cut one thing out for 90 days, watch your life improve, small decision, massive change. Darren Hardy, author of The Compound Effect, shows us that small, smart choices consistently repeated lead to significant results. Here's why.
- 13:58Imagine two planes leaving an airport. If one plane shifts off course by just one degree, it lands hundreds of miles apart from its original destination. Your life works the exact same way. Small adjustments over a long period of time create dramatically different outcomes. Every small action you take today affects your future legacy. Imagine your life
- 14:28One year from now, if you consistently improved 1% each day, you'd be unstoppable and more than likely unrecognizable. I love doing this exercise, by the way. I can always, and most of us can remember our birthday.
- 14:44Every single year. I can remember my birthday and I can remember New Year's. So I try to do those because they're close. And I think of what was my mindset on my birthday last year? And what is it this year? And how did I grow? Just a fun little thing to do. That was something I just added. So give it a try. Let me know how it works out. So what's holding you back? Nothing. You remember here that way they say the sky's the limit. There is no limit.
- 15:13You are the only thing stopping you. So what tiny step can you take today? You with me? I'm gonna share some real life examples from my own life and business, just so you see how I literally drink the Kool-Aid
- 15:28Every single thing that I say to you, every single recommendation that I give you guys, I live, breathe, and eat it. I am not somebody sitting up here like some of these other influencers or social media people telling you how to run your business and never run a successful business. Telling you how to freaking get mentally fit and are at home smoking weed. I'm not that guy. You guys know that.
- 15:52So let me get into these real life examples. My physical transformation. I committed to small daily workouts instead of irregular intense sessions. Now at nearly 50, I'm stronger, healthier, and in better shape than ever before. Not from huge leaps, but from small daily choices. So NTM's business success. NTM.
- 16:12We implemented the EOS Entrepreneurial Operating System framework. Small, consistent process changes. Measure everything. It took NTM from stuck at $3 million to breaking through the $5 million mark barrier, heading towards $10 million. Again, no magic, just consistent, disciplined actions that we measured and improved day in and day out. We meet every single quarter, and then we meet every single week.
- 16:39to make sure that we're making our goals. Emotional mastery. Small daily meditations transformed how I handle stress. I became more patient, calm, and empathetic. Now tough conversations that used to escalate into fights turn into opportunities for deeper connection.
- 16:58Guys, when I first started meditating, I didn't understand it. I didn't know what this was doing to me until I really stuck with it over a long period of time. I just noticed on the days that I didn't meditate, something fell off. I call meditation much like pruning meditation.
- 17:15A flower bed. You have to cut the leaves and the flowers back so they bloom higher. I think that the meditation clears out all of the busyness in my mind, which allows me to grow bigger. Again, as I said earlier, I use...
- 17:33guided meditation with a daily calm. There's so many other ones that are free and you could read books on it. So that's what's beautiful about this world we live in, this information age. You can get anything you want for free on the internet. Just go to YouTube, search meditations and what you want to accomplish and follow it. But listen to it, follow it to a T. As Matthew McConaughey's dad said, don't half-ass it, guys.
- 17:59These small habits compounded to transform my life physically, professionally, and emotionally. Here's your action plan. It's all summary. Write this down, screenshot it, commit to it. Number one, choose one positive habit to add. Whether it's daily reading, whether it's meditation, whether it's an exercise, it could be a podcast, anything that's positive.
- 18:24Add it. Number two, choose one negative habit to remove. Alcohol, junk food, toxic relationships, unnecessary screen time, Netflix series binging. Heck, I even eliminate TV time. Only time I watch TV is when I'm watching sports or I'm with my daughter.
- 18:47And the third thing, start tracking your habits. Accountability creates momentum. Use a journal, an app, or a calendar, and much you measure gets better. Measure your progress weekly. I do this every single Sunday morning. I look back on what worked the last week, and then I plan out the next week. This sounds so boring, but it works. And if you do it for a long period of time, we're coming up on six years now.
- 19:14Started this during the pandemic and I have not stopped. And it has become a way of life and the success has followed. Please share your commitment with me on the Heart of Life Nation. Tag me on social media. I hang out a lot on Instagram. As you know, this is where we're going to be doing all of these inputs so I can record more of what you guys want to hear. Tell a friend the accountability matters. The studies have shown more likely you are to tell somebody, the more likely you are to follow through.
- 19:44Don't give me that BS where it says, I'm not going to put it out of the air because I'm going to jinx it. That is hogwash. That is not true. In fact, you're more likely to speak the truth into the air and it'll actually come back. That's karmic law. I can go do a whole podcast about that. So listen closely.
- 20:04You're just one small decision away from a totally different life. Small changes done consistently. I know I sound like a broken record, but I keep hammering this because we're all looking for that one big change to make right now. And it's just small incremental changes done consistently and stuck with them that leave to a big life-changing results. There's no magic, just daily discipline.
- 20:34So here's your challenge. Do the one small thing today to move forward to the person that you want to become. Not tomorrow, not next week. Today. Let me know what you choose and share this episode with someone who needs to hear it. Also, as I asked you guys, please comment and please rate it. Remember, NTM keeps you secure, simplified, and protected every single day because we live by small actions, big results.
