- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Bill Handle on demand from KFI AM
- 0:04Speaker 1: six forty.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Good bals.
- 0:13Speaker 3: We're talking about twenty five year old balsamic vinegar. I mean,
- 0:18Speaker 3: you know this stuff is.
- 0:18Speaker 4: Yeah, you like them like you like your new wives,
- 0:21Speaker 4: the peach flavored glade and viscus.
- 0:29Speaker 5: And now Handle on the news, ladies and gentlemen, here's
- 0:33Speaker 5: Bill Handle.
- 0:38Speaker 2: And Jack. Good morning everybody. Bill Handle here. It is
- 0:42Speaker 2: a momentous Monday, October thirteen.
- 0:47Speaker 3: All living hostages in Gaza, Israel hostages have been returned
- 0:54Speaker 3: and now they're awaiting.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Unfortunately, the remains.
- 0:58Speaker 3: Of I think twenty eight who died or were killed,
- 1:03Speaker 3: probably were killed. And of course Hamas decides not only
- 1:07Speaker 3: is it hold living hostages, it also holds dead hostages,
- 1:11Speaker 3: knowing that the family members need closure and it doesn't
- 1:15Speaker 3: matter anyway. Celebrations breaking out both in Gaza and Israel.
- 1:22Speaker 2: And I think, I guess in.
- 1:24Speaker 3: A positive sense that no one Hamas is not screaming
- 1:29Speaker 3: we've won the war. We've won the war, which they
- 1:32Speaker 3: always do. And Israel, for the most part, there is
- 1:35Speaker 3: some talk about winning the war in Netanyahu said a
- 1:38Speaker 3: couple of things, but for the most part, the celebration
- 1:42Speaker 3: is the return of the hostages on the Israeli side
- 1:46Speaker 3: and the return of the Palestinian prisoners.
- 1:50Speaker 2: That is real as holding over to Gaza.
- 1:53Speaker 3: Okay, quick, healoa one and all because we were.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Talking a little bit about that.
- 1:58Speaker 3: And of course our president in a speech to the
- 2:01Speaker 3: Knesset out did himself with about forty minutes of an
- 2:06Speaker 3: I great, Aren't I terrific? Couldn't have a better president.
- 2:10Speaker 3: Joe Biden was the worst president in the world. Obama
- 2:13Speaker 3: was almost as bad.
- 2:14Speaker 2: I mean, just.
- 2:18Speaker 3: You know, you got a victory lap going here, you know,
- 2:21Speaker 3: just take it, just take it.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Thank you. You know we're done. Uh you're giving.
- 2:26Speaker 3: All the credit for it, as you should. But come on,
- 2:30Speaker 3: give me a break, all right. Uh let's let me
- 2:33Speaker 3: let me say here, we're there. Let me see on
- 2:37Speaker 3: this Will will coach river Will is back. Good morning, Bill,
- 2:43Speaker 3: Good morning it. Oh my god, it was awesome, isn't it.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Where'd you go?
- 2:48Speaker 3: It's the best place? Where'd you go? Uh? Sienna bronh
- 2:53Speaker 3: and ah, that yeah, wonderful place. Tuscany is magic. Venice
- 3:01Speaker 3: is crowded beyond belief. Although it wasn't too bad.
- 3:04Speaker 5: It wasn't bad Rome of course was off the chart
- 3:07Speaker 5: with you, and Rome was and the graffiti and Rome
- 3:10Speaker 5: and the crime is just yeah, it's they've taken an
- 3:14Speaker 5: interest and wonderful city and has gone yet not didn't
- 3:17Speaker 5: go well anyway, So welcome.
- 3:19Speaker 3: Back, thank you, and it was it was all good.
- 3:22Speaker 3: It was all good good. I love Italian's. I really
- 3:26Speaker 3: you notice that how few of them actually have pimples
- 3:28Speaker 3: and zits?
- 3:28Speaker 2: You know that you look?
- 3:30Speaker 3: Do you notice that they right now? You know? You know,
- 3:34Speaker 3: because they tend to slide off? Okay, I'm not no,
- 3:40Speaker 3: good morning, Neil.
- 3:42Speaker 4: I am fascinated how that tiny little braining yours works,
- 3:46Speaker 4: like I have no idea what's going to come out
- 3:49Speaker 4: of it?
- 3:49Speaker 1: None?
- 3:51Speaker 3: Huh yep, yeah, that was. That was an Italian joke
- 3:57Speaker 3: for sure. You can look it up. You're looking at
- 4:00Speaker 3: me seeing how it connects. I know. I not get it.
- 4:04Speaker 2: No, oh, okay, I get your humor. Okay, if you
- 4:07Speaker 2: want to call it humor.
- 4:08Speaker 1: That's not a plus. Kno, all right, No.
- 4:11Speaker 2: We've started in the morning, anyway, will welcome back? Kno?
- 4:14Speaker 2: Is there, Neil?
- 4:14Speaker 3: Of course?
- 4:15Speaker 2: Is there Amy wearing the Dodgers jersey.
- 4:20Speaker 6: It's just a sweatshirt today.
- 4:21Speaker 3: I'm always a sweatshirt. Yes.
- 4:23Speaker 7: All these playoffs are making me realize how many different
- 4:25Speaker 7: Dodgers outfits I have.
- 4:27Speaker 3: Uh, I didn't pay attention if the Dodgers already started. Uh.
- 4:31Speaker 7: The championship game, one of the championship series is this
- 4:35Speaker 7: afternoon in Milwaukee.
- 4:37Speaker 3: All right, so you're not going there and you don't
- 4:39Speaker 3: have tickets, but you do have tickets to some of
- 4:41Speaker 3: the championship games.
- 4:42Speaker 6: Correct, Yes, we have tickets to Thursday's game.
- 4:46Speaker 3: So you're definitely gonna see a game, come hell or
- 4:48Speaker 3: high water.
- 4:48Speaker 7: Oh yeah, and we got to see we got to
- 4:50Speaker 7: see the clincher on on front Thursday.
- 4:55Speaker 3: The giveaway to take away the win. Okay, fair enough,
- 5:02Speaker 3: and good morning, Good morning. I noticed you are not
- 5:05Speaker 3: wearing any Dodger garb.
- 5:07Speaker 6: By the way, Amy, nice flax.
- 5:10Speaker 3: Oh my god. There's just so many playoff games.
- 5:12Speaker 6: I just have to hear, so many Dodger things I
- 5:16Speaker 6: have to find to wear.
- 5:18Speaker 7: So I'm like, oh god, and you have joined as
- 5:22Speaker 7: many you know, but I don't get as two games.
- 5:25Speaker 3: I'm done. Yeah, if Padres actually played a decent don't
- 5:29Speaker 3: think I'm wearing We'll be talking a lot about actually
- 5:34Speaker 3: real quickly before we go on and start the news,
- 5:37Speaker 3: which needs to say, we have tons of it. Quick
- 5:41Speaker 3: word about Saturday night where we had that Zelman's Taste
- 5:46Speaker 3: test at the Anaheim White House that we were giving Zelman's.
- 5:52Speaker 2: A test does it really work?
- 5:53Speaker 3: And the meal that was curated by Chef Bruno and
- 5:57Speaker 3: Silvano was so garlic laden. It was garlic everything garlic.
- 6:04Speaker 1: The assignment and it was.
- 6:07Speaker 4: It's actually one of the best meals of It was
- 6:09Speaker 4: so wonderfully thought out and executed down to the caramelized
- 6:16Speaker 4: onions in the dessert, so there was onions and garlic
- 6:20Speaker 4: in everything, and it was And the garlic bread is
- 6:24Speaker 4: the best I've ever had yet. It almost burned your
- 6:28Speaker 4: mouth that had it did it.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Was a lot of it.
- 6:30Speaker 3: And the shrimp scampy which is one of their so
- 6:33Speaker 3: much tradiisunt beyond belief. Anyway, thank you to Anaheim White House.
- 6:37Speaker 2: And we ran.
- 6:38Speaker 3: Across a lot of people that were there just to
- 6:40Speaker 3: say hello, knew that we were there, that were not
- 6:43Speaker 3: part of our group.
- 6:45Speaker 1: They didn't win, so they just showed up.
- 6:47Speaker 3: They just showed up at eight. I love it, which, yeah,
- 6:50Speaker 3: that was so nice. The Bruno loved that one too,
- 6:53Speaker 3: So anyway, it's thank you Zelman's. Thank you for Anaheim
- 6:57Speaker 3: White House, both phenomenal produce and restaurant. And we're gonna
- 7:02Speaker 3: do that again at some point, only because the food
- 7:05Speaker 3: is so spectacular and I don't have to pay for it,
- 7:08Speaker 3: and that's the important thing.
- 7:10Speaker 1: You're weird.
- 7:11Speaker 2: I am not.
- 7:12Speaker 3: I am cheap.
- 7:12Speaker 4: We had these giveaways for them, these little garlic presses.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I like, where'd I put mine? Where'd I put it?
- 7:20Speaker 1: It's a give Why did you have to have one?
- 7:24Speaker 3: Because it's free.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Seotypes?
- 7:28Speaker 2: But yeah, why of course it is.
- 7:30Speaker 3: And Neil had these these and of course Zelman's gave
- 7:34Speaker 3: aways a lot, a fair amount of product and it
- 7:36Speaker 3: was all good. Okay, enough of that. There's Neil again
- 7:39Speaker 3: making fun of me, and yeah, but it's just weird.
- 7:42Speaker 1: And I made them.
- 7:43Speaker 4: So I'm like, you could just ask me for one.
- 7:45Speaker 4: I'll get you. I'll make a custom one just for you.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Okay, So I'll have two of them. I'll take it. Okay.
- 7:54Speaker 3: It is time for handle on the news on this
- 7:58Speaker 3: Monday morning, October thirteen. Lead Storry.
- 8:04Speaker 8: All right, well, right this moment the president is our
- 8:09Speaker 8: president is about to leave Tel Aviv and fly to Cairo,
- 8:14Speaker 8: or the peace summit, of which twenty world leaders are
- 8:18Speaker 8: going to.
- 8:18Speaker 3: Come celebrating the ceasefire and the breakout of peace between
- 8:25Speaker 3: Israel and Camas, of which the president, President Trump is
- 8:30Speaker 3: rightly being given a tremendous amount of credit. There's no
- 8:36Speaker 3: question that without President Trump this would not have happened.
- 8:40Speaker 1: And what he's so gracious about him?
- 8:42Speaker 3: Yeah, he certainly is spent forty minutes in front of
- 8:45Speaker 3: the Canasset talking about how great he is, how horrible
- 8:51Speaker 3: Obama and Joe Biden were the worst president in the
- 8:54Speaker 3: history of the United States.
- 8:56Speaker 1: How I would I have to do with any of it?
- 8:58Speaker 3: I have no idea, And how he has made all
- 9:01Speaker 3: the decisions, and he decides which weapons go where, and
- 9:06Speaker 3: he gave him Israel, which Israel knew what to do
- 9:09Speaker 3: with him, and just you know, at some point, at
- 9:12Speaker 3: what point do you snap victory out of the jaws,
- 9:16Speaker 3: the feet out of the jaws of victory. I just
- 9:19Speaker 3: he just goes on and on, and I mean, come on, guy,
- 9:22Speaker 3: you got the win.
- 9:23Speaker 4: You got the win, and deservedly so there's probably nothing
- 9:28Speaker 4: more that you could do as a president of the
- 9:31Speaker 4: United States or a head of state that makes that.
- 9:33Speaker 4: You could go, wow, this was life changing for people.
- 9:38Speaker 4: And then he kind of poops on it.
- 9:41Speaker 2: It's like why just.
- 9:43Speaker 4: Takes take the w it is so it's huge, It
- 9:46Speaker 4: really is huge.
- 9:48Speaker 1: Just came home.
- 9:50Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean it's incredible and it is. I mean
- 9:52Speaker 3: it is an amazing feat of which. Does he deserve
- 9:56Speaker 3: the Nobel Peace Price for this one?
- 9:58Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 9:58Speaker 2: I think he does actually for putting the together.
- 10:00Speaker 3: So now you've got Nittanyahu a few minutes up on
- 10:04Speaker 3: in front of the Knesset talking about how great the
- 10:07Speaker 3: president is. You have to because Trump loves to hear
- 10:10Speaker 3: that and has to hear it, and all the all
- 10:13Speaker 3: President Trump to do is stand up and just say
- 10:16Speaker 3: thank you very much and then sit down.
- 10:20Speaker 2: That would have been the greatest speech.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Give the glory to the families that are reuniting.
- 10:24Speaker 2: Yeah, oh he did.
- 10:25Speaker 3: He talked about that, and he talked about Jared Kushner
- 10:29Speaker 3: and Ivonka, his daughter converting to Judaism, and do all
- 10:34Speaker 3: kinds of stories about Steve Witkoff, personal stories and just
- 10:38Speaker 3: humorous anecdotes and.
- 10:39Speaker 4: Basically talking about all the Jews he knows.
- 10:42Speaker 1: Yeah, some of my best friends are Jews.
- 10:44Speaker 4: Yeah, oh crazy, Aaron Trump Aviv.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Yeah nice.
- 10:48Speaker 3: In any case, all right, quick timeline hostages have been released.
- 10:54Speaker 3: President as of right this moment is boarding Air Force
- 10:57Speaker 3: one after speaking to the Knesse, and he is on
- 11:01Speaker 3: his way to Cairo. And it's an hour flight by
- 11:04Speaker 3: the way, Cairo to Tel Aviv or Tel Aviv to Cairo.
- 11:07Speaker 3: It's almost exactly an hour. It's La San Francisco. And
- 11:11Speaker 3: then he arrives. Netting Yahu will not be there, and
- 11:16Speaker 3: we're hearing all kinds of reasons Jewish holiday.
- 11:18Speaker 2: Eh.
- 11:19Speaker 3: I don't know if I buy that he Mahmud Abbass
- 11:22Speaker 3: will be there. And Netiahu does not want to be
- 11:25Speaker 3: seen in the same room on the same by a
- 11:28Speaker 3: dayas as Machunda Bass because he has said Nata Yahu
- 11:32Speaker 3: is official position of Israel. The Palestinian authority is going
- 11:36Speaker 3: to disappear. It will not be part of governing the
- 11:40Speaker 3: new Palestine. And so there's a lot to be said
- 11:45Speaker 3: on that, and of course I'll talk more about that
- 11:47Speaker 3: coming up seven o'clock.
- 11:48Speaker 7: Two weeks in and tempers are flaring. What started as
- 11:52Speaker 7: a standoff over spending priorities is around enhanced in affordable
- 11:56Speaker 7: care subsidies has turned into full blown political stress test.
- 12:02Speaker 7: Over the weekend, both sides were on the TV shows
- 12:06Speaker 7: and both pointing fingers at the other. Virtually no appetite
- 12:12Speaker 7: for anyone on either side to talk to the other side.
- 12:16Speaker 7: They're pretty much dug in. The House, passed continuing resolution
- 12:20Speaker 7: would extend curtain current Biden era spending levels, but House
- 12:25Speaker 7: Minority Leader Hakim Jeffries said that the legislation is unacceptable
- 12:31Speaker 7: to Democrats because it also includes massive cuts codified by
- 12:34Speaker 7: President Trump's domestic policy package. And then on the other side,
- 12:38Speaker 7: Speaker Johnson says that the Democrats have chosen a partisan
- 12:42Speaker 7: fight to prove their Marxist rising base in the Democratic
- 12:45Speaker 7: Party that they're willing to fight Trump and the Republicans.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Marxist, Yeah, yeah, why not.
- 12:53Speaker 3: Now it's you communists and patriots, you fighting, looking at
- 12:57Speaker 3: everybody and describing themselves. So I will talk more about this,
- 13:00Speaker 3: but the people are going to really really suffer. This
- 13:03Speaker 3: is the week that paychecks don't come to a lot
- 13:06Speaker 3: of federal employees, and it's really going to hurt most.
- 13:09Speaker 2: See how this pans out.
- 13:10Speaker 3: I have some ideas and we'll talk about that. At
- 13:14Speaker 3: seven point thirty and see if you agree or disagree,
- 13:17Speaker 3: or tell me I'm out of my mind. Sure, why not?
- 13:20Speaker 3: All right?
- 13:20Speaker 4: As we moved to real communists China, Donald Trump threatening
- 13:27Speaker 4: again to impose additional one hundred percent tariffs on China
- 13:32Speaker 4: made everything go crazy with the stock market. But China
- 13:36Speaker 4: says it's a typical example of US doing a double standard,
- 13:41Speaker 4: which is funny for a communist country filled with rich
- 13:45Speaker 4: And then.
- 13:45Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, well they're not particularly communists. They only call
- 13:48Speaker 3: themselves communists. Anytime a country calls itself the people's republic,
- 13:54Speaker 3: you've got some real issues as to how free the
- 13:56Speaker 3: people's Republic is.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Yeah, but you're right on this one.
- 14:01Speaker 1: They did say they have countermeasures coming.
- 14:04Speaker 2: Oh yeah, you know, they're now in a pissing match.
- 14:08Speaker 3: Ping and President Trump are really at it. And here's
- 14:14Speaker 3: what really got Here's what got Trump so upset is
- 14:18Speaker 3: that China is limiting its rare earths that now they're
- 14:23Speaker 3: playing with that China controls the rare earth's market, rare
- 14:26Speaker 3: earth minerals. They basically have it about eighty percent of
- 14:29Speaker 3: the world market. And without rare earth, you don't make
- 14:34Speaker 3: cell phones, evs, you don't make electronics. You just need
- 14:39Speaker 3: those what I thought you might have nothing we were
- 14:44Speaker 3: working with We are, but it's years in the making.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Minds have to be dug.
- 14:50Speaker 3: China has a full blown mature industry with this and
- 14:53Speaker 3: controls the world market. So Trump now attached another one
- 14:57Speaker 3: hundred percent. That's on top of the thirty percent. That's
- 14:59Speaker 3: all aready in place, one hundred and thirty percent. I
- 15:02Speaker 3: told you that my business with savil or cookwar business
- 15:07Speaker 3: which we import from China, a loom Staines steel cookwaar,
- 15:12Speaker 3: what was it? A couple of weeks ago, we got
- 15:14Speaker 3: a shipment of We had seventy thousand dollars, a reasonably
- 15:18Speaker 3: small shipment. We needed some back order stuff, so it
- 15:22Speaker 3: costs seventy thousand dollars. The tariff was eighty seven thousand dollars.
- 15:28Speaker 3: That we had to write the federal government on a
- 15:31Speaker 3: seventy thousand dollars order. It was eighty seven thousand dollars
- 15:34Speaker 3: in tariffs. How sustainable do you think that is?
- 15:38Speaker 4: Gosh, it's almost not worth using the Chinese slave labor.
- 15:42Speaker 4: Huh pretty close? Yeah, man, you just can't get good
- 15:47Speaker 4: slave labor anymore.
- 15:49Speaker 1: I guess we're back to the us of A.
- 15:51Speaker 3: Yeah, that's not going to help very much because still
- 15:57Speaker 3: it gets crazy cookie.
- 15:59Speaker 2: Well the aluminum.
- 16:01Speaker 3: We also get aluminum from overseas too, don't forget the
- 16:03Speaker 3: try to produces aluminum. So it's the whole thing is
- 16:07Speaker 3: completely nuts. And the other thing I think I'm talking
- 16:10Speaker 3: about this a little bit later on. One thing about
- 16:12Speaker 3: this president, and it's both good and bad. I'll tell
- 16:15Speaker 3: you one thing. For a US president to bounce back
- 16:18Speaker 3: and forth and to wake up in the morning and
- 16:20Speaker 3: establish one policy and in the afternoon change it.
- 16:23Speaker 2: With the kind of.
- 16:24Speaker 3: Influence the United States has is just astronomical, and he's
- 16:28Speaker 3: just taking everybody for a loop.
- 16:30Speaker 7: Okay, moving on Butner Butner, Mayor Bass is getting some competition,
- 16:38Speaker 7: and don't look at me that way.
- 16:39Speaker 1: I got it.
- 16:40Speaker 7: Former La School Superintendent Austin Buttner is planning to announce
- 16:44Speaker 7: today that he is going to run against Mayor Bass
- 16:47Speaker 7: for the twenty twenty six mayor's election. He lives in
- 16:51Speaker 7: Pacific Palisades. His home was damaged during the fires. His
- 16:54Speaker 7: mother in law's house was destroyed, and he has criticized
- 17:00Speaker 7: on several fronts, but very critical of the way that
- 17:03Speaker 7: she handled the wildfires, saying that officials at all levels
- 17:06Speaker 7: showed a failure of leadership on the fire.
- 17:10Speaker 3: I don't know how much name recognition he has, because
- 17:14Speaker 3: did you know his name LA Unified School superintendent who
- 17:18Speaker 3: it was?
- 17:20Speaker 2: I don't think many people did.
- 17:22Speaker 1: I did. But this is what we do for a living.
- 17:24Speaker 3: Yeah, well, thank you. It makes me feel good.
- 17:27Speaker 7: Hey, when only like less than twenty percent of the
- 17:29Speaker 7: population of LA votes for the mayor, are they in
- 17:33Speaker 7: the election?
- 17:33Speaker 6: I mean nobody knows.
- 17:35Speaker 3: Yeah, good point, And Neil says, of course he knows.
- 17:38Speaker 2: I have my doubts.
- 17:39Speaker 4: So the ball keeps bouncing from court to court, and
- 17:42Speaker 4: the Federal Court of Appeals just Saturday temporary temporarily lifted
- 17:48Speaker 4: a judge's order blocking the White House efforts to federalize
- 17:53Speaker 4: National Guard troops for the use in Chicago, but left
- 17:58Speaker 4: her block on their deployment in the city, so the
- 18:01Speaker 4: troops can remain at their base, the US Army Reserve
- 18:04Speaker 4: Center there in Elwood, Illinois, just about an hour outside
- 18:09Speaker 4: of Chicago. But they don't need to return home. But
- 18:14Speaker 4: they're still not moving.
- 18:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I just now their chapter And how far does
- 18:18Speaker 3: presidential power go? Where the president is testing pushing the
- 18:22Speaker 3: envelope across the board. So we'll see what the courts
- 18:24Speaker 3: have to say on this one. These are all, as
- 18:27Speaker 3: you pointed out, temporary measures until the merits the underlying
- 18:32Speaker 3: case is actually heard as to does the president have
- 18:34Speaker 3: the power?
- 18:35Speaker 2: Yes or no?
- 18:35Speaker 7: Under these circumstances, inventory not required, So for the families
- 18:42Speaker 7: who lose everything in future wildfires, you'll be able to
- 18:48Speaker 7: collect most of your insurance pay out without itemizing everything.
- 18:53Speaker 7: Governor Newsom signed new law that on Friday, and starting
- 18:59Speaker 7: next year, insurers will be required to pay at least
- 19:02Speaker 7: sixty percent of a homeowner's personal property coverage up to
- 19:05Speaker 7: three hundred and fifty thousand dollars without requiring that detailed
- 19:08Speaker 7: inventory list. It's good, but not as good as the
- 19:12Speaker 7: original of the original version of the bill, which would
- 19:17Speaker 7: have required insurers to pay one hundred.
- 19:19Speaker 6: Percent of the contents without an itemized list.
- 19:23Speaker 3: That's a two aage sword. First of all, the insurers
- 19:25Speaker 3: have a legitimate interest saying, hey, you know what, We're
- 19:27Speaker 3: not going to just write you a check saying that
- 19:29Speaker 3: based on what you tell us, you know, here's your
- 19:32Speaker 3: one hundred thousand dollars gold coin collection. Oh no, I
- 19:37Speaker 3: had it.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Now it's gone melted.
- 19:39Speaker 3: Well, I guess you can melt into a gold bar,
- 19:41Speaker 3: but you know the coin that's worth twenty thousand dollars. No.
- 19:45Speaker 3: On the other side, it's who the hell keeps inventory
- 19:49Speaker 3: of everything you have in the house. I mean, what
- 19:53Speaker 3: you should do is with homeowners insurance is video everything
- 19:57Speaker 3: you have, just do a walk through and that helps enormously.
- 20:01Speaker 3: Who the hell does that? So this helps homeowners a
- 20:04Speaker 3: lot and we'll just see how much our insurance rates
- 20:08Speaker 3: go up on that one. And it is fair to
- 20:10Speaker 3: have people be paid for what they lose without having
- 20:15Speaker 3: to do an entire inventory list, because no one does that.
- 20:19Speaker 1: I do, yeah, do you? Yeah?
- 20:22Speaker 4: Actually I go through every now and again, both in
- 20:24Speaker 4: my shop in the house and do a video.
- 20:26Speaker 1: And it's actually it's actually.
- 20:28Speaker 4: Came in handy when we had a film crew used
- 20:31Speaker 4: the house. I was able to prove that things were broken. Okay,
- 20:37Speaker 4: I'm weird, No, all right, hundreds. You remember back at
- 20:42Speaker 4: the earlier part of the year with the whole doze
- 20:45Speaker 4: stuff where people were being fired and then they were like, oh, whoops,
- 20:49Speaker 4: you weren't supposed to be fired. We're kind of going
- 20:51Speaker 4: through that again. These are the CDC staffers recently fired
- 20:55Speaker 4: by the Trump administration. There's about thirteen hundred workers at
- 20:59Speaker 4: the CDC so and they come from all different walks
- 21:03Speaker 4: and areas. But out of that thirteen hundred, seven hundred
- 21:09Speaker 4: were reinstated on Saturday, so you've got about six hundred
- 21:12Speaker 4: remaining laid off. And apparently they received incorrect notifications.
- 21:19Speaker 3: So they fire everybody. This is Friday, Friday. They all
- 21:22Speaker 3: received notices and they say you're done, and then the
- 21:25Speaker 3: next day, seven hundred ago, oh we made a mistake,
- 21:29Speaker 3: you're not fired. And this seems to be the way
- 21:32Speaker 3: that the government is being run right now. You'd think
- 21:36Speaker 3: someone would think this through, but it's, uh, let's do
- 21:39Speaker 3: this with a shotgun and then we'll pick up the pieces.
- 21:43Speaker 6: Where businesses do it.
- 21:46Speaker 3: Businesses I think are more selective. They don't reinstate people
- 21:50Speaker 3: the next day you get furloughed, and it's not like, oh,
- 21:54Speaker 3: we made a mistake, come on back the next day
- 21:57Speaker 3: by the hundreds or the thousands.
- 21:58Speaker 2: Not they don't do.
- 22:00Speaker 6: The next day.
- 22:01Speaker 7: But I mean it's happened around here where they do
- 22:03Speaker 7: layoffs and then they bring people back.
- 22:05Speaker 3: And how how in terms of the numbers of layoffs.
- 22:08Speaker 3: How many, it's a tiny, tiny number.
- 22:11Speaker 4: Government should be the best run business in the United States.
- 22:16Speaker 2: Well it can't be.
- 22:17Speaker 3: It can't be because the government doesn't have any accountability.
- 22:22Speaker 3: You know. It's when you think that, for example, iHeart
- 22:25Speaker 3: it has a it's a public corporation. It has accountability
- 22:28Speaker 3: to with shareholders. People have accountability to their bosses, the government.
- 22:34Speaker 3: It's nobody's money, that's all. It's not your money, So
- 22:37Speaker 3: what do you care it's my money?
- 22:40Speaker 7: Yeah, this guy picked the wrong place to be in public.
- 22:45Speaker 7: So apparently somebody went into Saint Peter's Peter's Basilica, went
- 22:50Speaker 7: up to the altar and started curinating.
- 22:55Speaker 6: He was quickly escorted out of the church. Pope Leo
- 22:59Speaker 6: was informed and was, as he put it, shocked to
- 23:02Speaker 6: learn of the news.
- 23:04Speaker 3: Okay, that leads right into the joke that I must
- 23:10Speaker 3: repeat if you haven't heard it yet, and that is
- 23:13Speaker 3: Will's already shaking his head, and that is this is
- 23:15Speaker 3: not the first time that an attack has been made
- 23:19Speaker 3: at an altar statue in Saint Peter's the Pieta, which
- 23:25Speaker 3: is in Saint Peter's in the Basilica. There was that
- 23:28Speaker 3: crazy ass Hungarian out of his mind mentally Opensus, who
- 23:32Speaker 3: took a hammer and started hammering on the piata and
- 23:37Speaker 3: as a matter of fact, I think took out three
- 23:39Speaker 3: or four of the toes of either Jesus or Mary
- 23:42Speaker 3: on the piata. Now it's completely you can't get in
- 23:45Speaker 3: his bulletproof plexiglass in front of it. And as they
- 23:49Speaker 3: were dragging him out, and I quote now, he was
- 23:51Speaker 3: screaming Pieta. I thought it said pinata. Okay, no, I
- 23:58Speaker 3: love that.
- 24:00Speaker 1: I'm not putting another notch.
- 24:02Speaker 2: Write that down. I'm telling you that's.
- 24:04Speaker 1: On my belt. How many times I've heard that?
- 24:06Speaker 2: Okay, thank you very much.
- 24:08Speaker 3: I'm sorry. Can whenever time there's an attack in the Basilica,
- 24:10Speaker 3: I have to I have to say it can't contron wrong, Peter, Okay,
- 24:15Speaker 3: all right, oh very good. I guess there's nobody watching Yusemite.
- 24:22Speaker 3: So Jozamite is going to hell in a handbasket. The
- 24:26Speaker 3: government shut down.
- 24:28Speaker 4: You've got increase reports of illegal base jumping from El Capitan.
- 24:33Speaker 4: Also squatters filling up campgrounds. There's climbers using the cables
- 24:38Speaker 4: that you see on the side of half dome, but
- 24:41Speaker 4: they're doing it without permits.
- 24:42Speaker 1: Because there's nobody around. It's unclear.
- 24:45Speaker 4: We don't know exactly how many federal employees are working,
- 24:48Speaker 4: how many are not. But one employee who spoke with
- 24:52Speaker 4: sf Gate just you know, anonymously, said that they were
- 24:58Speaker 4: only they were only aware of a single volunteer patrolling
- 25:02Speaker 4: the entire park.
- 25:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't doubt.
- 25:04Speaker 3: I'm surpriser was even one, because they shut down the
- 25:06Speaker 3: national parks. Hey, quick question, is there such thing as
- 25:10Speaker 3: legal base jumping for MeTL Capitan?
- 25:12Speaker 2: Do they allow that?
- 25:13Speaker 6: I don't think so.
- 25:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't think so either.
- 25:17Speaker 6: So they're taking advantage.
- 25:19Speaker 4: Yeah, but if you go and maybe I'm not saying
- 25:21Speaker 4: with real bullets, but maybe paint guns and then you
- 25:24Speaker 4: can go and pluck them off as they fly down.
- 25:28Speaker 6: Maybe that's not even a good idea to suggest.
- 25:30Speaker 1: Well, I'm just saying, if they can.
- 25:33Speaker 3: Squatting and base jumping, you're better off just letting him
- 25:36Speaker 3: fall and just you know, pick up the pieces.
- 25:40Speaker 1: Okay, I wouldn't do that, Okay, for the record.
- 25:44Speaker 7: Yeah, massive merger hanging in the balance. Paramount has officially
- 25:48Speaker 7: opened the bidding for rival Warner Brothers Discovery. The board
- 25:53Speaker 7: of Warner Brothers Discovery rejected the initial bit of about
- 25:56Speaker 7: twenty dollars chair share, but talks are continuing. A Warner
- 25:59Speaker 7: brother This Discovery owns HBO, CNN, TBS, Food Network, HGTV,
- 26:04Speaker 7: and the Warner Brothers movie and TV studios in uh Burbank.
- 26:09Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll just.
- 26:10Speaker 3: See how far what they're what their will, how far
- 26:13Speaker 3: they're willing to go in terms of, uh, what they're
- 26:16Speaker 3: going to pay per share. Usually when you're buying or
- 26:19Speaker 3: a company is buying another company, uh, the price of
- 26:23Speaker 3: the stock starts going way way up, and they end
- 26:25Speaker 3: up paying a premium over what the market value is.
- 26:29Speaker 3: And sometimes it can be pretty astronomical to the point
- 26:32Speaker 3: where the shareholders just say we're done, we're selling, thank
- 26:35Speaker 3: you very much, and we'll see what happened.
- 26:37Speaker 2: They may happen here.
- 26:39Speaker 7: And Larry Ellison, uh, you know he's the world's richest man,
- 26:43Speaker 7: right and he wants to the top five.
- 26:45Speaker 3: Yeah, so he's up there.
- 26:48Speaker 6: When daddy's money is there.
- 26:50Speaker 3: Yeah, who knows how it'll go.
- 26:52Speaker 4: Yeah, I got my son at Cheruro.
- 26:55Speaker 3: You're good day, Okay.
- 26:58Speaker 1: About the whole thing for him?
- 27:00Speaker 3: Excellent? All right, So.
- 27:04Speaker 4: It looks like it's one small step for China possibly
- 27:08Speaker 4: if they get their way. They're trying to get back
- 27:12Speaker 4: to the They're trying to get to the moon. We're
- 27:14Speaker 4: trying to get back to the Moon. And there is
- 27:17Speaker 4: more and more chorus of voices saying that the United
- 27:20Speaker 4: States needs to return astronauts to the Moon before the
- 27:23Speaker 4: end of.
- 27:23Speaker 1: This decad This, that, and the other.
- 27:29Speaker 3: That.
- 27:30Speaker 4: They people are just saying, hey, we need to get
- 27:31Speaker 4: back up. Their NASA plans to use a SpaceX starship,
- 27:35Speaker 4: which is the largest rocket system ever constructed, as part
- 27:39Speaker 4: of this lunar journey. But Bill Nye, we all know,
- 27:43Speaker 4: the science guy, said that the that China's National Space
- 27:46Speaker 4: Administration will almost certainly walk on the Moon in the
- 27:49Speaker 4: next five years.
- 27:50Speaker 3: Yeah, here's the difference between the United States and China.
- 27:54Speaker 2: Here.
- 27:54Speaker 3: We have a fair number of legislators who go, we
- 27:57Speaker 3: don't want to spend this kind of money, or we
- 27:59Speaker 3: have administration that's going to cut NASA budgets in China,
- 28:04Speaker 3: whatever Jijingping wants, and the politbureau says absolutely, once policy
- 28:10Speaker 3: is established, they go for it. Nothing gets in the way.
- 28:13Speaker 3: And that's so it's.
- 28:15Speaker 4: Only money because you know, we did this fifty six
- 28:17Speaker 4: years ago.
- 28:19Speaker 1: Why is it. Why is it so difficult to do now?
- 28:23Speaker 3: Because it is not just reaching the moon just for
- 28:27Speaker 3: the hell of reaching the moon. I believe it is
- 28:29Speaker 3: reaching the Moon for the purposes of then being able
- 28:33Speaker 3: to go to Mars. So it's and also reaching the
- 28:37Speaker 3: Moon to set up some kind of habitat there, which
- 28:40Speaker 3: is not it's just not flying in and flying back.
- 28:43Speaker 2: Sort of been there, done.
- 28:44Speaker 4: That was because we're not going back to the moon
- 28:47Speaker 4: because Stanley Kubrick is dead.
- 28:50Speaker 3: Okay, well said to the moon, Alice, to the moon,
- 28:57Speaker 3: all right, we are done.
- 28:59Speaker 2: You've been listening to The Bill Handle Show.
- 29:01Speaker 3: Catch My Show Monday through Friday, six am to nine am,
- 29:05Speaker 3: and anytime on demand on the iHeartRadio app.
