- 0:05Speaker 2: Did you actually believe that I was gonna be late
- 0:07Speaker 2: on a day like today?
- 0:08Speaker 1: I'm nervous. Are you nervous?
- 0:10Speaker 2: I'm a little nervous, dude.
- 0:11Speaker 1: I have butterflies. I don't have butterflies when I'm just
- 0:13Speaker 1: shooting the shit with you. But this is a big deal.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Yeah, we got a list celebrities.
- 0:17Speaker 1: This is the tail lister.
- 0:19Speaker 2: This is the type of shit that freaking you know
- 0:21Speaker 2: shows when they're getting launched and everything like that. They
- 0:24Speaker 2: hoped to get a guest like Brendan Fraser. When Fallon launched,
- 0:28Speaker 2: he wished he got a guest like Brendan Fraser on
- 0:30Speaker 2: that episode. Same thing with Kimmel when they launched. It
- 0:33Speaker 2: were like, if we could get somebody like Brendan Fraser.
- 0:36Speaker 1: By the way, we've been saying it wrong. I'm sorry
- 0:37Speaker 1: to interrupt you, but I got yelled at on the internet.
- 0:40Speaker 1: It's Fraser. We've both been saying Fraser.
- 0:43Speaker 2: It's Fraser.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Fraser like Fraser, like Racer like Laser, Fraser Fraser. Okay,
- 0:52Speaker 1: I'm just saying I got someone was like love the
- 0:54Speaker 1: podcast act. You're all You're both saying Brendan's name wrong.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Sorry? Sorry? Do you know many times I get Donald Phison,
- 1:06Speaker 2: Pison Pison?
- 1:08Speaker 1: What's the other? Oh, there's another phaseon, but he spells
- 1:11Speaker 1: it differently.
- 1:12Speaker 2: There's Faison love, Faison love, and then there's Frankie Faison
- 1:16Speaker 2: who spells it the same way. Right, there's a phase
- 1:18Speaker 2: on North Carolina.
- 1:20Speaker 1: I've never been there.
- 1:21Speaker 2: White and black Faisons.
- 1:24Speaker 1: How are you guys? How's your week going? By the way,
- 1:26Speaker 1: Don Donald, did you know that Dan's nickname is Daniel?
- 1:29Speaker 1: I thought that that was just kind of a Joel joke,
- 1:31Speaker 1: but it really is his his nickname in life Daniel.
- 1:34Speaker 2: It said nickname? Or is that your name is Daniel?
- 1:38Speaker 1: His name is Daniel. But he's been a very long story.
- 1:40Speaker 1: He doesn't want to go into but Daniel.
- 1:43Speaker 3: Happy to do it another time, Happy to do it
- 1:44Speaker 3: another time.
- 1:45Speaker 1: No, but I'm starting to wonder if we should call
- 1:47Speaker 1: on the podcast, should be calling him Daniel because I
- 1:49Speaker 1: like to use nicknames. It makes me feel like I'm
- 1:51Speaker 1: close to someone.
- 1:52Speaker 3: Well, I would be honored if you would call me Daniel.
- 1:54Speaker 1: I might just do that.
- 1:55Speaker 2: There it is Daniel.
- 1:56Speaker 1: I'm gonna see I'm gonna see I'm gonna say even
- 2:00Speaker 1: flows because you can't force a nickname, like like, you know,
- 2:04Speaker 1: I hate it when when you say someone's nickname and
- 2:05Speaker 1: you feel like I just it just not flowing out
- 2:08Speaker 1: of me.
- 2:08Speaker 4: Right.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Yeah, When I was a kid. When I was a kid,
- 2:10Speaker 2: my mom was like the the uh not the leader
- 2:14Speaker 2: of a camp, but like the creative director at a camp.
- 2:17Speaker 2: It was a camp that had a boy season and
- 2:19Speaker 2: a girl season. The name of it was Camp at Water.
- 2:21Speaker 2: It was in Massachusetts, right, And I remember she went
- 2:25Speaker 2: around a table with all the counselors because she had
- 2:27Speaker 2: to be there early to meet all the counselors and stuff.
- 2:29Speaker 2: She went around a picnic table we were outside. I
- 2:33Speaker 2: was there because I'm there with my mom, and she's like,
- 2:35Speaker 2: all right, everybody, just give me your first your name
- 2:40Speaker 2: and then you know a nickname that people give you.
- 2:42Speaker 2: So people was going around I'm terrific Tasha, or I'm
- 2:46Speaker 2: you know, stunning Steven. And they got to this dude
- 2:49Speaker 2: named Daryl and he was like, they call me delicious Darryl.
- 2:54Speaker 2: And I remember I remember being like wow and I
- 2:58Speaker 2: and then later on Cedric the entertainer there has a
- 3:00Speaker 2: joke where you know, what grown man wants to call
- 3:04Speaker 2: another grown man? Delicious better than my nickname? What was
- 3:13Speaker 2: your nickname?
- 3:15Speaker 5: My father called me the great Destroyer.
- 3:17Speaker 2: It's a great destroyer.
- 3:18Speaker 5: I'd be like, oh, here comes the great destroyer.
- 3:20Speaker 2: I was had.
- 3:21Speaker 6: My head was constantly in the clouds, and I had
- 3:23Speaker 6: a tendency to just break things, running into them arms
- 3:27Speaker 6: like gesticulating wildly, knocking over cubs and stuff.
- 3:30Speaker 2: So wow, that stuck destroyer.
- 3:34Speaker 1: My nickname was BIZ because it's my initials backwards.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Braf Israel, Zach Zach. So when I was a kid,
- 3:46Speaker 2: so I grew up with Terrence Howard, right, he and I.
- 3:49Speaker 2: I've known him since he was like twelve years old.
- 3:51Speaker 2: As a matter of fact, my first I took him
- 3:53Speaker 2: on his first audition. He crashed and crashed an auditioned
- 3:57Speaker 2: with me, and it wound up being like the Jackson
- 4:00Speaker 2: and Special and he became you know, he's Terrence Howard. Now, anyway,
- 4:05Speaker 2: when we would hang out when we were kids, there
- 4:07Speaker 2: was this dude in the neighborhood who didn't necessarily like
- 4:10Speaker 2: the fact that two acting you know, teenagers or you know,
- 4:14Speaker 2: young men were walking around hanging out together. So he
- 4:18Speaker 2: was called show biz, and I was Hollywood. So when
- 4:23Speaker 2: we come outside and be like, here comes show biz
- 4:25Speaker 2: in Hollywood, I'm.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Gonna start calling you Hollywood.
- 4:29Speaker 2: No no, no, no no no no no no no
- 4:31Speaker 2: no no no no no no.
- 4:33Speaker 1: How are you? How's your life? Donald Faison?
- 4:35Speaker 2: It's good. You know. I board in the house and
- 4:40Speaker 2: I'm in the house board you know what I mean. Yeah, man,
- 4:45Speaker 2: it's the same old stuff.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Yeah, well, you got a birthday coming up.
- 4:50Speaker 2: I do. I'm gonna be forty six.
- 4:52Speaker 1: That's fucking It'll literally be.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Twenty years since we started Scrubs. When we started Scrubs,
- 4:57Speaker 2: I had just turned twenty six, So it'll be twenty
- 4:59Speaker 2: years this year Scrubs will have been We will have
- 5:03Speaker 2: been making Scrubs like it was the first. The first
- 5:07Speaker 2: episode came out when I was twenty six years old.
- 5:09Speaker 1: I bought you a present, No, my wife bought me
- 5:11Speaker 1: a present. I bought you a present for both Father's
- 5:14Speaker 1: Day and your birthday?
- 5:16Speaker 2: So did my wife? What did you get me?
- 5:18Speaker 1: I'm not going to tell you. I'm not going to
- 5:19Speaker 1: tell these all these fine.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Folks listening, But is it a donut machine?
- 5:24Speaker 1: No? Are you going to keep the donut machine. Though.
- 5:26Speaker 1: By the way, we haven't heard the update on the
- 5:27Speaker 1: donut machine.
- 5:29Speaker 2: I think I might keep the donut Yeah, of.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Course you're going to keep the donut machine. Will you
- 5:33Speaker 1: post pictures on your on your Instagram so so our
- 5:35Speaker 1: listeners can see it?
- 5:37Speaker 2: Absolutely. I made ice cream yesterday. I made a raspberry
- 5:40Speaker 2: ice cream yesterday. It was delicious.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Do you have an ice cream maker?
- 5:44Speaker 2: Well, there are a lot of things that you can
- 5:46Speaker 2: use to make ice cream. But I have a little
- 5:49Speaker 2: attachment that goes on my little Bellville and it's a
- 5:53Speaker 2: mixer and it's spit.
- 5:54Speaker 7: You know.
- 5:54Speaker 2: It took me two days to make ice cream. But
- 5:57Speaker 2: I made ice cream and then I made some fudge.
- 6:00Speaker 2: So it was raspberry ice cream with a little chocolate
- 6:02Speaker 2: fudge underneath. Let me tell you, they went crazy in
- 6:05Speaker 2: this household for my food. I lost some mind.
- 6:08Speaker 1: So this is a new phase for your quarantine. You
- 6:10Speaker 1: become a dessert chef.
- 6:11Speaker 2: Yeah. You know a lot of people thought I would
- 6:14Speaker 2: phase off when it came to cooking. I decided to
- 6:16Speaker 2: phase on. You know what I'm saying, I.
- 6:20Speaker 1: I think that the best solution for your diet is
- 6:23Speaker 1: to start becoming a dessert chef.
- 6:25Speaker 2: I think it'll be great for my cholesterol. Yeah, it'd
- 6:28Speaker 2: be great for my It'd be great for my diet.
- 6:30Speaker 2: You know what I mean. I am a dessert man.
- 6:33Speaker 1: I love sweets, I love sugar, I love ice cream.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Well, dude, I made fudge. Yes, to make fudge, Brownie,
- 6:39Speaker 2: you gotta make fudge first. I made fudge first. Oh my,
- 6:43Speaker 2: let me take something right now, and nothing like some
- 6:46Speaker 2: homemade fudge. Oh my gosh, that is good. Listen, that
- 6:51Speaker 2: shit is good.
- 6:52Speaker 1: The people loved Scott Foley, great reaction to God.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Foley was a great guest man.
- 6:58Speaker 1: He was a great guest everybody he loved him on there. Yeah,
- 7:02Speaker 1: and my whole timeline was nobody cares Sean. Like I'm
- 7:05Speaker 1: talking about ninety nine percent of the comments where nobody
- 7:08Speaker 1: cares Sean. Some people said nobody cares Zach.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Yeah, well I said that a couple of times.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Oh that was you, that was you commenting.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Yeah, that was me.
- 7:18Speaker 1: I thought you mad on my Instagram. I'm good, you know,
- 7:22Speaker 1: I don't know how do you answer that these days?
- 7:24Speaker 1: He just everyone just goes yeah, I don't know, staring
- 7:26Speaker 1: at the wall. I think it's crazy. You know, the
- 7:28Speaker 1: cases are all rising you know, somebody wrote. Somebody wrote
- 7:32Speaker 1: on Twitter. I thought it was really appropriate. They said like,
- 7:35Speaker 1: so we're all just kind of got bored and just
- 7:38Speaker 1: said fuck it, because people are just going out there.
- 7:41Speaker 1: It's rising. Fauci said something like, what do you you
- 7:44Speaker 1: know people are saying like, oh, it's the second wave.
- 7:46Speaker 1: She's like, what are you talking about? This is still
- 7:48Speaker 1: the first wave? Yeah, you know, and it's spiking everywhere.
- 7:51Speaker 1: It's spiking in LA It's spiking in so many places.
- 7:54Speaker 2: And spiking in the South. Hardcore.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I know. So I don't know. Oh man, it's crazy.
- 8:00Speaker 1: It just feels like people went fuck it, I'm over it,
- 8:04Speaker 1: and they're just can they're going out. I don't know,
- 8:06Speaker 1: if you've seen all these videos of people out out
- 8:08Speaker 1: and about with no masks on. I think it's I
- 8:10Speaker 1: think it's crazy.
- 8:11Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, everybody's gonna live their life, you know
- 8:17Speaker 2: how They're gonna live there, you know. And I can't.
- 8:18Speaker 2: I can't stop anyone from I can. I can beg
- 8:22Speaker 2: and I can plead, and I can you know, you know,
- 8:25Speaker 2: say to that's all we can do. Please don't go out,
- 8:28Speaker 2: Please think of your fellow man. There are the people
- 8:30Speaker 2: that can't. You know that won't be as lucky as
- 8:35Speaker 2: you are if you are one of the lucky ones
- 8:37Speaker 2: that you know, this virus does nothing to But I can't.
- 8:43Speaker 2: I can't. What are you gonna do? You're gonna arrest people,
- 8:45Speaker 2: what are you gonna do? Jump on people and stop them?
- 8:47Speaker 1: I haven't, We haven't, we haven't. We haven't spoken too
- 8:49Speaker 1: much on on on about our friend Nick on this podcast.
- 8:52Speaker 1: You know, Donald and I have a very good friend,
- 8:53Speaker 1: Nick Cordero. You may have heard about him in the news.
- 8:56Speaker 1: He's about as sick as someone can be, and he
- 8:58Speaker 1: was had no pre existing conditions, and he is forty
- 9:05Speaker 1: years old, and he was he was staying in my
- 9:08Speaker 1: guest house. And he's one of my best friends in
- 9:10Speaker 1: the world. He's an amazing actor, broadcast play together. We
- 9:13Speaker 1: did a play together. He's a wonderful actor, a wonderful singer.
- 9:18Speaker 1: He's just ind like you know, people always say this
- 9:22Speaker 1: about people, but like, honestly, he's the nicest person I've
- 9:25Speaker 1: ever met, Like, like, there is not a malicious, weird, competitive,
- 9:33Speaker 1: angry cell in his body. He's an angel of a
- 9:35Speaker 1: human being. And he was he was here, he was
- 9:39Speaker 1: living in my guest. I'll say he and his wife
- 9:40Speaker 1: bought a new house in LA. They were making the
- 9:43Speaker 1: move from New York to LA. They have they have
- 9:45Speaker 1: a one year old baby. They were just living the
- 9:48Speaker 1: American dream. They literally bought their first house. And he
- 9:50Speaker 1: went back to New York to pack up his apartment
- 9:52Speaker 1: and got COVID so bad that he's been staying alive
- 9:57Speaker 1: with the help of machines. I don't and no one
- 9:59Speaker 1: knows he's gonna make it. He's lost his leg due
- 10:02Speaker 1: to complications of clotting and such.
- 10:06Speaker 2: His lungs.
- 10:07Speaker 1: His lungs are just Swiss cheese, they said. The COVID
- 10:11Speaker 1: just just fucking destroys the lungs. So I not to
- 10:16Speaker 1: be a Debbie downer on this show, but I haven't
- 10:19Speaker 1: been talking about it because we're here to hopefully entertain
- 10:21Speaker 1: you and take your mind off things. But if you're
- 10:23Speaker 1: headed out and you don't have a mask on, uh,
- 10:27Speaker 1: I want you to to think about my friend Nick.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Maybe just think about it, because I think people take
- 10:31Speaker 1: comfort and going well. Worst case scenario, I'm forty, what's
- 10:36Speaker 1: going to happen? This guy had had he was healthy,
- 10:39Speaker 1: his wife's a trainer. I mean he's a healthy guy,
- 10:42Speaker 1: and uh, and he could he could die. So I
- 10:46Speaker 1: don't mean to to to preach, and I wasn't even
- 10:49Speaker 1: gonna bring this up, but I just felt weird all
- 10:51Speaker 1: of a sudden not mentioning it. And uh and.
- 10:56Speaker 2: You know, so while you think, while you think it's, uh, well,
- 10:59Speaker 2: everybody out there just you know about uh, for all
- 11:07Speaker 2: the people that are sick of this virus, just know
- 11:08Speaker 2: that this virus isn't sick of us exactly.
- 11:11Speaker 1: And and just know that, uh, you know, don't have
- 11:14Speaker 1: in your head. I think it's a shame for people
- 11:16Speaker 1: to have in their head. Oh worst case scenario. I
- 11:18Speaker 1: get it. They say it's like a really bad flu.
- 11:21Speaker 1: That's that's bullshit. That's some people. But there's also some
- 11:24Speaker 1: people like Nick who are totally healthy and have a
- 11:26Speaker 1: one year old baby and are just started walking, who
- 11:30Speaker 1: just started walking today actually and uh and his and
- 11:33Speaker 1: he could die. I mean, we don't know. It's it's
- 11:36Speaker 1: it could go either way. So I'm sorry to open
- 11:39Speaker 1: the show with that. Donald helped me change the tone
- 11:41Speaker 1: of things by being jovial and leading us in some.
- 11:48Speaker 8: About show we made about a bunch of.
- 11:56Speaker 9: The stories.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Yea Let's bring in Brendan. Everybody, Let's bring in Brendan Fraser. Donald,
- 12:14Speaker 1: don't say it like the.
- 12:16Speaker 10: Oh I.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Should see you.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Oh man, look at this. Donald and I both admitted
- 12:32Speaker 1: to each other that we have butterflies because we don't
- 12:34Speaker 1: have fancy uh movie stars on our on our pockets.
- 12:37Speaker 1: No offense to our other guests. They're great offense.
- 12:39Speaker 2: They all did they they've all been great.
- 12:42Speaker 1: But they're not like Brendan level.
- 12:44Speaker 2: We just kicked it up a notch, like like like
- 12:47Speaker 2: like Emerald used to say, bay him, kick it up
- 12:50Speaker 2: a notch.
- 12:51Speaker 7: Flattery will get you everywhere.
- 12:55Speaker 1: Brandon. We we we're giddy that you're here. Not only
- 12:59Speaker 1: are we not only have we always both been fans
- 13:01Speaker 1: of your work, but when you came on the show,
- 13:04Speaker 1: it was really cool because you were by far the
- 13:08Speaker 1: fanciest guest star we had on the show. And then
- 13:11Speaker 1: you became like people's favorite storyline. And I don't even
- 13:16Speaker 1: know if you know this, but the episode where you
- 13:19Speaker 1: died is a lot of people's favorite episode of the
- 13:22Speaker 1: whole series. And so we're just we're thrilled you're here
- 13:25Speaker 1: and we want to talk about all of it.
- 13:28Speaker 2: You helped launch our you know, I don't think. I
- 13:31Speaker 2: don't know if it definitely wasn't on purpose. But our
- 13:34Speaker 2: buddy Josh Rayden, who gets spoken of every freaking episode,
- 13:38Speaker 2: his song was played at your character's funeral and because
- 13:44Speaker 2: of that his career. I mean, he travels all over
- 13:46Speaker 2: the world now and performs to packed houses. But this
- 13:50Speaker 2: was the first song that he ever wrote, and somehow
- 13:54Speaker 2: Bill used it in this episode.
- 13:57Speaker 1: This somehow is me. I said, you need a sad song,
- 14:01Speaker 1: try my buddies first song. He had never written a song,
- 14:04Speaker 1: and we played it during your funeral episode and it
- 14:07Speaker 1: launched his career. But anyway, let Brendan talk.
- 14:10Speaker 4: That's really nice. I mean, look, the music is important
- 14:13Speaker 4: so much in the across the arc of the whole
- 14:17Speaker 4: whole show. I mean, the choices were always spot on.
- 14:21Speaker 4: They made you feel the internal conflict even though there
- 14:26Speaker 4: was you know, this comedy that that was juxtaposed against.
- 14:31Speaker 7: It's a very serious environment.
- 14:33Speaker 4: I mean, how do you make a hospital funny?
- 14:36Speaker 7: Yeah, you guys did.
- 14:39Speaker 4: It for many, many episodes, and I I'm so pleased.
- 14:45Speaker 4: When I've been going to comic conventions in the last
- 14:50Speaker 4: two years or so, that's a similar thing that everyone
- 14:54Speaker 4: says they're very they're moved by that episode. Now, look,
- 14:58Speaker 4: thanks for nice things you're saying to me, but you're
- 15:00Speaker 4: only as good as the company you keep and how
- 15:02Speaker 4: well it's written, and some camera things too. But I
- 15:07Speaker 4: just I should say belated thank you, like what seventeen
- 15:11Speaker 4: years later now for including me in that cast and
- 15:14Speaker 4: pulling me into the fold.
- 15:18Speaker 11: Sorry, sorry, that's okay. I was thinking about that today too.
- 15:21Speaker 11: I let's take a walk back here. I had just
- 15:24Speaker 11: finished a run of my West End debut in London
- 15:28Speaker 11: and katinahats and roof, and I came back to La
- 15:35Speaker 11: and my former wife Afton and Krista Miller are longtime friends,
- 15:40Speaker 11: and I had not met Bilby before, but I did
- 15:43Speaker 11: get on the phone with him, and I recall saying
- 15:46Speaker 11: something like he's asking, how you doing.
- 15:48Speaker 7: We want you to come and do this. Let me
- 15:51Speaker 7: see the script.
- 15:52Speaker 4: I mentioned something about feeling a little tired or jet
- 15:56Speaker 4: lagged or I needed to get back to the gym,
- 15:59Speaker 4: and he said, all right, well I'll send it over.
- 16:01Speaker 4: So we sent the script over and he sent a
- 16:02Speaker 4: bunch of gym shorts, I mean, like nice ones too,
- 16:10Speaker 4: So I thought, all right, I'm in when one man
- 16:14Speaker 4: sends another man his shorts, there is no other love.
- 16:19Speaker 1: You know, when you're trying to get an actor to
- 16:21Speaker 1: do something, there's always the go to thing, which is
- 16:23Speaker 1: write a nice letter. But I'm gonna take I'm gonna
- 16:25Speaker 1: take Bill's Q on this and get more creative. He
- 16:28Speaker 1: sent you clothing.
- 16:29Speaker 2: Well, it just showed he was listening. Listen, man, I'm tired.
- 16:32Speaker 2: I gotta get back to the gym. Let me help
- 16:35Speaker 2: you out some shorts. I'm the script that's true. Are
- 16:39Speaker 2: you are you in town right now? Or are you
- 16:42Speaker 2: out of town? I know you're doing that. The show,
- 16:45Speaker 2: the superhero show, Doom Patrol, Doom Patrol?
- 16:48Speaker 1: Do you not know that? Donald Doom Patrol and you're
- 16:51Speaker 1: superhero guy.
- 16:52Speaker 2: I was just watching the trailer for season two where
- 16:54Speaker 2: you guys are miniaturized and everything like that. I'm very
- 16:58Speaker 2: excited for it. I was really when the show started.
- 17:01Speaker 2: I was actually I watched Titans and then when they
- 17:04Speaker 2: introduced Doom Patrol through Titans and Beast Boy, I was
- 17:08Speaker 2: really excited to watch the show. And the cast is phenomenal.
- 17:12Speaker 2: You got such a really dope cast. You Matt Bonner,
- 17:15Speaker 2: what's his name Timothy Dalton like it's a sick cast, dude.
- 17:20Speaker 4: Diane Gerrero ippa bowlby season two, Let's get out of
- 17:23Speaker 4: the way.
- 17:24Speaker 7: June twenty fifth, on HBO Max The New One.
- 17:28Speaker 4: Check it out, very excited, Donald, Did you actually watch
- 17:31Speaker 4: the I read the comics before.
- 17:34Speaker 7: I mean, this is the first time my live action
- 17:36Speaker 7: things been No.
- 17:36Speaker 2: I had not read the comic before, but I knew
- 17:40Speaker 2: it existed, but I had never I had never read
- 17:44Speaker 2: because it's really.
- 17:44Speaker 7: An obscure property. It was really kind of it was orphaned.
- 17:47Speaker 4: It was done like seven different incarnations on real prints. Yeah,
- 17:52Speaker 4: and they didn't they killed everybody off at one point
- 17:54Speaker 4: they brought them all back and then Grant Morrison did
- 17:58Speaker 4: the run that this that inspired the show. So the
- 18:02Speaker 4: word surreal gets bandied about very much in the way
- 18:05Speaker 4: we speak, but it actually borrowed from Dadaism, and you
- 18:09Speaker 4: know that what Dolly was up about surrealism in the
- 18:12Speaker 4: way that this show's inspired. A lot of the set
- 18:15Speaker 4: pieces are direct key art from the graphic novels Wow
- 18:20Speaker 4: and it and it did keep the sense of I
- 18:25Speaker 4: don't know if I want to call it it's people
- 18:28Speaker 4: like to say dark or it's serious I think it
- 18:32Speaker 4: just didn't.
- 18:32Speaker 7: It doesn't.
- 18:33Speaker 4: It doesn't shy away from going to the places that
- 18:38Speaker 4: motivate brooding superhero characters and explaining really why, and often
- 18:43Speaker 4: in white knuckle detail.
- 18:47Speaker 2: So you guys, you guys do you guys are very
- 18:50Speaker 2: It's a very I would say it is a dark show,
- 18:52Speaker 2: like each and every one of your origins comes from
- 18:55Speaker 2: a dark place, you know what I mean, just from
- 18:58Speaker 2: your character alone. Your character was a race car driver
- 19:01Speaker 2: who was who was like, you know, cheated on his
- 19:03Speaker 2: wife and really didn't give a shit about anybody but
- 19:06Speaker 2: his daughter, you know what I mean.
- 19:08Speaker 4: And and he was I don't think he won all
- 19:10Speaker 4: those races fair and square either.
- 19:12Speaker 2: To right, just a bad, bad dude. And he dies
- 19:16Speaker 2: and gets put into a robot, and he's led to
- 19:19Speaker 2: believe that his daughter is I don't want to spoil
- 19:23Speaker 2: the show.
- 19:23Speaker 4: He's there, I said it, he's and and so's he's
- 19:28Speaker 4: struggling to reconcile how to be a better man, except
- 19:35Speaker 4: now he's trapped in this steampunk robot body, and strangely,
- 19:41Speaker 4: he's a better human being as a robot than he was.
- 19:45Speaker 7: As a man.
- 19:46Speaker 2: Right right, right, and and and he's there for his teammates.
- 19:50Speaker 2: He's like in every episode, he's the one character who's
- 19:54Speaker 2: there for his teammates. He's there for the girl with
- 19:57Speaker 2: all the personalities. He's there for it's Crazy Jane, crazy.
- 20:01Speaker 4: As she's known. With their sixty four different personalities that you.
- 20:05Speaker 2: With superpowers too, that's superpower. That's dope. You could sixty
- 20:10Speaker 2: four different powers. That's pretty dope. Anyway, I'm show Brendan, did.
- 20:14Speaker 1: You read comic books when you were a kid?
- 20:18Speaker 4: I had a anthology of Superman. I tried to get
- 20:24Speaker 4: into Batman because all the cool kids did then. And
- 20:27Speaker 4: I got to be honest with you, they they kind
- 20:29Speaker 4: of think they were formidable, and they sort of scared
- 20:32Speaker 4: me a little bit. It was like listening to heavy
- 20:36Speaker 4: metal music and you're not ready for it to me.
- 20:40Speaker 4: And and so, I mean, I I like them, for sure,
- 20:43Speaker 4: but my speed was more like Dennis the Menace and
- 20:47Speaker 4: Richie rich Yeah.
- 20:49Speaker 1: I read.
- 20:49Speaker 7: I would read Archie, Little Archie, Yeah, little Archie.
- 20:52Speaker 4: Look yeah, So I guess in short, no, not really,
- 20:56Speaker 4: But then I mean when this came along, it's kind
- 20:59Speaker 4: of a uh, yeah, I would want to be a
- 21:02Speaker 4: part of this because I'm not sure if if risks
- 21:06Speaker 4: like this get taken that frequently. And I'm no aficionado,
- 21:08Speaker 4: you know, in a world of comics and that kind
- 21:10Speaker 4: of thing, but I know that it's a piece of
- 21:14Speaker 4: Donald just touched on this. That's like everyone comes from
- 21:17Speaker 4: some horrible accident that occurred to them prior to them
- 21:21Speaker 4: being introduced to its audience, our audience, and that's the
- 21:24Speaker 4: reason why that they have to build better lives through it.
- 21:27Speaker 4: Although they bicker with one another and they hate one another,
- 21:29Speaker 4: but they can't be a part and they don't function
- 21:32Speaker 4: without one another, kind of like scrubs, I should say.
- 21:35Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, the very theme song is I can't do
- 21:37Speaker 1: this all on my own. You can't do this song,
- 21:41Speaker 1: and yeah, it's about the camaraderie. You know, you had
- 21:45Speaker 1: the most epic career. I was just scrolling your IMDb
- 21:48Speaker 1: page just before you came on because I wanted to
- 21:51Speaker 1: just kind of glance at everything. I mean, you have
- 21:53Speaker 1: the kind of career that actors dream of having. You
- 21:56Speaker 1: from really cool artistic indies too, the biggest tent pole
- 22:01Speaker 1: movies ever. I mean, do you when you look back
- 22:06Speaker 1: on things, is there is there a favorite or is
- 22:09Speaker 1: it all kind of like I mean for us, I mean,
- 22:11Speaker 1: Donald and I look back at Scrubs. We haven't had
- 22:13Speaker 1: the fraction of the career you've had, but I mean
- 22:15Speaker 1: we look back and go, Okay, We've had lots of
- 22:17Speaker 1: fun experiences, but Scrubs was like one of the best
- 22:19Speaker 1: experience of our lives. Is there a project that you
- 22:20Speaker 1: look back on that and go, you know, I've done
- 22:22Speaker 1: a lot of cool things, but this one in particular
- 22:24Speaker 1: was like, holy shit, that changed my life or this
- 22:27Speaker 1: or or always.
- 22:28Speaker 4: If I had to like name something that really changed
- 22:31Speaker 4: my life for better or worse, I'd have to say
- 22:33Speaker 4: it was around two thousand and sorry, like nineteen ninety nine,
- 22:37Speaker 4: it was the Mummy pictures. Everybody saw those, I mean,
- 22:40Speaker 4: and still they have a resonance. I guess it's just
- 22:43Speaker 4: you know, my done luck that the the the lore
- 22:48Speaker 4: of an Egyptian mummy wrapped up for several thousand years
- 22:51Speaker 4: looking for his girlfriend is an enduring theme that we
- 22:54Speaker 4: just love to do and over and over and over again.
- 22:56Speaker 4: So you know, we had that had that that had
- 22:59Speaker 4: that going for it. But if I think of a
- 23:02Speaker 4: film there that that made me feel like it changed
- 23:08Speaker 4: I worked with I worked with Michael Kane in Vietnam
- 23:12Speaker 4: on a picture called The Quiet American and it was
- 23:17Speaker 4: a pretty good adaptation. Christopher Hampton wrote it of the
- 23:23Speaker 4: of the novel, and we shot in Vietnam, and at
- 23:29Speaker 4: that time, no Western film had been made in Vietnam.
- 23:33Speaker 4: I mean, if you saw a movie that was a
- 23:35Speaker 4: war picture or something, it was in Malaysia or Thailand or.
- 23:37Speaker 7: Doubled somewhere else in South pacifica for the Jungles. But we.
- 23:42Speaker 4: Had the good fortune and to actually be there, and
- 23:46Speaker 4: it was exciting for the reasons that it really pushed
- 23:51Speaker 4: back at as the novel did that American foreign policy was,
- 23:59Speaker 4: you know, blessed in the world.
- 24:00Speaker 7: And the reality is, no, it's not.
- 24:05Speaker 4: The picture itself, I can say confidently was put on
- 24:12Speaker 4: the chopping block by Miramax when it came out September eleventh,
- 24:17Speaker 4: had transpired it and and the I don't want to
- 24:22Speaker 4: say his name, but the boss of that company said,
- 24:24Speaker 4: I don't want to do anything wrong for the American people.
- 24:27Speaker 7: Wow, And we never really knew what that meant.
- 24:29Speaker 4: And Michael took the picture to Chroto International Film Festival
- 24:35Speaker 4: and gave it in an audience there, and that's when
- 24:39Speaker 4: it really started to take off, and the Washington Post
- 24:43Speaker 4: wrote a piece called let the quiet Americans Speak, and
- 24:48Speaker 4: you know, in other words, you don't need to sugarcoat this.
- 24:53Speaker 4: You don't have to treat us like children. We should know.
- 24:57Speaker 4: I mean, these are things that that we do have
- 25:00Speaker 4: to discuss that has not changed then and it had
- 25:04Speaker 4: it can't change now. I mean, so to be a
- 25:08Speaker 4: part of that, I guess I felt I was in
- 25:16Speaker 4: in good company and I felt like I had a
- 25:20Speaker 4: chance to be a part of a picture that would,
- 25:23Speaker 4: you know, in its own way change the world. Now,
- 25:25Speaker 4: movies do or they don't, and that's the hope and
- 25:28Speaker 4: the aspiration. But it did fulfill something for me that
- 25:34Speaker 4: was meaningful. And if it didn't find its audience at
- 25:38Speaker 4: that time, there's always the notion and feeling that it
- 25:41Speaker 4: will do in the future.
- 25:43Speaker 7: And well, I think the still hold up.
- 25:45Speaker 1: You can have a lot of people watching it now
- 25:47Speaker 1: because it's one of yours. I haven't seen and I'm
- 25:49Speaker 1: definitely curious, and we have a handful of people listening
- 25:52Speaker 1: to this. I'm sure we'll check it out. I loved
- 25:54Speaker 1: one of your early film school ties.
- 25:56Speaker 2: Was Yeah, I was about to say that.
- 25:58Speaker 1: Man that movie hit me at the right man, and especially.
- 26:01Speaker 2: Being a young Jewish man.
- 26:02Speaker 1: That's of course, and we didn't and I didn't feel
- 26:05Speaker 1: like I looked like Brendon, you know. I was like, there,
- 26:06Speaker 1: I am look handsome. I'm being represented. But but I
- 26:11Speaker 1: mean your performance in that movie as a young actor.
- 26:14Speaker 1: I mean, I think everyone in the world was like,
- 26:16Speaker 1: you know, everyone who loves movies was like, oh shit,
- 26:18Speaker 1: look at this new guy. I thought, you really really
- 26:21Speaker 1: were great in that movie.
- 26:22Speaker 2: Well.
- 26:22Speaker 7: Thanks. It was sort of the diner casting. Yeah, it's
- 26:28Speaker 7: day in a.
- 26:28Speaker 2: Way, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon. The list is ridiculous. So
- 26:34Speaker 2: many people, right, Anthony rap just ridiculous.
- 26:43Speaker 4: We at that time had no idea what we were doing.
- 26:47Speaker 4: We had an abundance of enthusiasm. Probably the most important
- 26:50Speaker 4: thing to us is getting the producer to provide us
- 26:53Speaker 4: breakfast in the morning before we had to play football
- 26:55Speaker 4: all day, although they did not, you know, I mean,
- 26:58Speaker 4: and still at that time I look at it and
- 27:00Speaker 4: I think, I don't I really don't know that much
- 27:02Speaker 4: about that guy anymore. You know, I just see I
- 27:09Speaker 4: see I see a cast are very hopeful, but at
- 27:13Speaker 4: the same time we all have this sort of tenuous.
- 27:15Speaker 4: Is this it kind of feeling as you do when
- 27:17Speaker 4: you're first starting out in this industry.
- 27:22Speaker 7: So but for that, rather than.
- 27:24Speaker 4: You know, turning inward, we just swung for the fences
- 27:28Speaker 4: and hope for the best, for for whatever the film
- 27:30Speaker 4: would would result in.
- 27:33Speaker 1: Well it was. It was really great. Donald and I
- 27:35Speaker 1: both remember that film. Finally, we've talked about it before.
- 27:39Speaker 1: And Donald, you also began your career in a football film.
- 27:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I did. It's called Remember the Titans. Have you
- 27:46Speaker 2: watched it yet?
- 27:48Speaker 1: No, it's on my to do Listen, I'm going to watch.
- 27:51Speaker 2: I have to tell you these are that's fine and
- 27:53Speaker 2: and that's fine, but these are the issues that I'm having. Now.
- 27:56Speaker 1: Let me tell you what happens guests on fighting on
- 28:00Speaker 1: a company.
- 28:00Speaker 2: Let me finish, Let me finish. Is this because is
- 28:05Speaker 2: this because I didn't read Garden.
- 28:07Speaker 1: State when you Yes, Yes, that's one of the reasons.
- 28:09Speaker 2: I was in the shower and I was thinking, you know,
- 28:12Speaker 2: I've done some projects and Zach's never seen any of them.
- 28:16Speaker 1: No, I've seen a lot of them.
- 28:17Speaker 2: You've seen, dude, You've whats.
- 28:19Speaker 1: The movie you Win where where the famous rapper was
- 28:22Speaker 1: a postman.
- 28:27Speaker 2: It's called Next Day. First of all, it was Next
- 28:28Speaker 2: Day Air.
- 28:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I saw second all.
- 28:30Speaker 2: The only reason why you saw Next Day Air is
- 28:32Speaker 2: because I invited you over for screening at my house
- 28:34Speaker 2: with all the producers, and that.
- 28:36Speaker 1: Was about boy who is the rapper I forgot. He
- 28:39Speaker 1: was really good.
- 28:40Speaker 2: Most deaf man, Most.
- 28:42Speaker 1: Is a good actor. He did a good job in
- 28:44Speaker 1: that movie.
- 28:44Speaker 7: I worked with Most Steph.
- 28:47Speaker 4: I worked with Most Deph once in a really obscure
- 28:51Speaker 4: movie the shot and saw Paula Brazil. It was called
- 28:53Speaker 4: Journey to the End of the Night, and he played
- 28:56Speaker 4: a Nigerian dishwasher who gets roped into running a huge
- 29:02Speaker 4: suitcase of cocaine in this sort of impossible scenario that
- 29:08Speaker 4: he just can't win from. He was so good, I
- 29:10Speaker 4: mean he was What was the name of the movie,
- 29:12Speaker 4: Journey to the End of the Night.
- 29:14Speaker 1: Journey to the I'm gonna watch that. I'm gonna watch.
- 29:17Speaker 2: Scene Bay, Journey to the End of the Night.
- 29:20Speaker 1: I'm gonna watch that too. So sorry, but Titans got
- 29:23Speaker 1: moved down another rung because I've had two more films.
- 29:26Speaker 1: Let me tell you what happens in my house. You
- 29:28Speaker 1: have dinner, you get what are we gonna watch tonight, right,
- 29:30Speaker 1: I don't know if.
- 29:31Speaker 2: This happens dayson, and remember the Titans.
- 29:33Speaker 1: Now, let me tell you. I just want to know
- 29:34Speaker 1: if this happens in either any of your houses. You
- 29:36Speaker 1: have a list of like one thousand classics you want
- 29:39Speaker 1: to watch. You have a list of like your friends
- 29:42Speaker 1: movies you want to watch. You got a list of
- 29:44Speaker 1: movies you read online that everyone's talking about. And then
- 29:46Speaker 1: you get up there and you're tired, and you had
- 29:49Speaker 1: a glass of wine and you're like.
- 29:51Speaker 7: And it's HGTV time.
- 29:53Speaker 1: Yeah right, Top Chef, Top Chef, Top Chef. Listen. I
- 30:01Speaker 1: could be a cook now because I watched so much
- 30:02Speaker 1: Top Chef.
- 30:03Speaker 2: Hold on. You said it's friend movies that your friends
- 30:06Speaker 2: are in, and you look at the classics and everything
- 30:08Speaker 2: like that. Dude, you can knock two out with one stone.
- 30:11Speaker 2: It's a motherfucking classic one two. Your friend is in it.
- 30:15Speaker 2: So dude, let's just get to the waiting.
- 30:17Speaker 1: We're gonna do it. I'm right after quiet American. I'm
- 30:19Speaker 1: gonna do it, all right, I promise you this is
- 30:22Speaker 1: a commitment.
- 30:23Speaker 2: You're lying, but okay, you've been saying this for years.
- 30:26Speaker 2: I just want you to know that for years. Listen,
- 30:28Speaker 2: we don't have to since I go ahead.
- 30:30Speaker 1: We don't have Brendan forever because he has to feed
- 30:33Speaker 1: his children. So I want to move quickly. We're gonna
- 30:37Speaker 1: take a quick break and we're gonna come back, and
- 30:38Speaker 1: then we're gonna go through the episode because I want
- 30:39Speaker 1: to talk. This episode has so much in it, and Brendan,
- 30:43Speaker 1: you probably don't even know this, but there's so many
- 30:44Speaker 1: things in this particular episode that that became through lines
- 30:48Speaker 1: for the whole series, including when you pick me up
- 30:51Speaker 1: and I yelled eagle, Uh, the the a cappella group, Uh,
- 30:57Speaker 1: Bob Zeltzer, you're a cancer doctor. All right, we'll be
- 31:00Speaker 1: right back.
- 31:08Speaker 2: And we're back, and we're back.
- 31:11Speaker 1: So this episode is called My Hero and it's the
- 31:15Speaker 1: second of Brennan's three episodes he did Brendan, did you
- 31:20Speaker 1: know by the way, I know you assumed you knew
- 31:22Speaker 1: you were doing too? But then, what what's the story
- 31:24Speaker 1: of of you came back in? Not till season three?
- 31:28Speaker 1: Did did Bill? He couldn't have possibly see today. We're
- 31:31Speaker 1: gonna build your character and come back in two seasons?
- 31:34Speaker 1: So how did that come about?
- 31:35Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 31:35Speaker 4: I gotta I gotta Bill knows the answer to that one.
- 31:38Speaker 4: I mean, I had such a great time with the
- 31:42Speaker 4: to be continued to you know, to hand or that
- 31:47Speaker 4: came in the first season that I was in, and
- 31:50Speaker 4: then when he called up to do it again, I
- 31:51Speaker 4: was like, absolutely, you know you it was because I
- 31:55Speaker 4: had such a great time working you guys.
- 31:57Speaker 2: You and you and you brought something to the table
- 32:00Speaker 2: that a lot of that went on for a really
- 32:02Speaker 2: long time. Also, your camera when you brought your camera
- 32:07Speaker 2: to look at this. Look, Zach has a camera just
- 32:10Speaker 2: like that.
- 32:10Speaker 1: Now I'm holding up I'm holding up my my polaroid
- 32:13Speaker 1: UH one ten A that I would not have purchased
- 32:17Speaker 1: without Brendan. So I want you know, Brendan and I
- 32:20Speaker 1: are both. Brendan, Christa Miller and I are all camera geeks.
- 32:24Speaker 1: We all collect them. But I was never into old
- 32:26Speaker 1: polaroid cameras until I met Brendan and all. And if
- 32:29Speaker 1: you guys are watching the episode and you see him
- 32:31Speaker 1: shooting all these polaroids that was inspired by Brendan. Those
- 32:35Speaker 1: are all his pictures you're you're looking at. And I
- 32:39Speaker 1: got so into uh polaroid photography because of you, Brendan
- 32:43Speaker 1: and I. I've not like free. For the twenty years
- 32:48Speaker 1: since I've seen you, I can't tell you how many
- 32:49Speaker 1: different polaroid cameras I've bought and collected. And Donald was
- 32:53Speaker 1: saying on another podcast, he goes, why do I have
- 32:55Speaker 1: so many like professional quality polaroids of myself? And I'm like,
- 32:58Speaker 1: that's because of Brendan, because Christa and I both got
- 33:01Speaker 1: so into it. We've taken so many pictures of them.
- 33:04Speaker 4: It's not of them sitting in the sit in a
- 33:06Speaker 4: closet or on the shelf right now. Because the film
- 33:08Speaker 4: is so hard to find, and I know you can.
- 33:10Speaker 1: Get it online if you buy. I actually, knowing that
- 33:14Speaker 1: you were coming on, I haven't. I haven't used it
- 33:16Speaker 1: in a while, but knowing you were coming on, I
- 33:17Speaker 1: was like looking online to where I can find it.
- 33:19Speaker 1: Fuji still makes the film.
- 33:22Speaker 7: For a good pack film, impossible projects another one you know.
- 33:26Speaker 1: Yes, But for those of you who want to get
- 33:27Speaker 1: into this hobby, Fuji f P one hundred is is
- 33:31Speaker 1: the go to, right Brennan Or that's the last one.
- 33:34Speaker 7: Let me just geek out. I put my glasses on.
- 33:44Speaker 1: FUJIF one hundred. I just gave them a shout out.
- 33:46Speaker 1: There should be a sponsor, so Brendan when you picked
- 33:50Speaker 1: me up at one thirty three in this kid's room, Now,
- 33:53Speaker 1: I can't imagine you even could could know this story,
- 33:56Speaker 1: but the fans I've watched eight seasons, no, when you
- 33:59Speaker 1: picked me up and spun me, the first thing I
- 34:02Speaker 1: say that made me laugh was I go faster, because
- 34:06Speaker 1: the whole the whole gag is that JD is such
- 34:08Speaker 1: a nerd that at first he's like no, no, no, no no,
- 34:10Speaker 1: and then then he's like as a kid and I
- 34:13Speaker 1: and then you're spinning me. You're spinning me. And on
- 34:15Speaker 1: one last take, I thought, oh, be extra doorkey if
- 34:18Speaker 1: JD pretended he was soaring like an eagle. And then
- 34:22Speaker 1: I just went eagle, which became bizarrely a huge runner.
- 34:28Speaker 1: Throughout the whole season of the series of the show.
- 34:30Speaker 1: Donald would pick me up and I'd yell eagle, and
- 34:32Speaker 1: it became a running thing.
- 34:34Speaker 2: It became his what you're talking about, willis?
- 34:36Speaker 1: It became my what you're talking about?
- 34:37Speaker 12: Willis?
- 34:37Speaker 1: It became my catchphrase. Run you you lifted me into
- 34:42Speaker 1: my It's like in dirty dancing doing the lift. You
- 34:44Speaker 1: lifted me into my catchphrase.
- 34:48Speaker 7: Thank you, thanks very very much, no, everywhere. I particularly
- 34:54Speaker 7: liked your shower shorts. If I remember yes correctly.
- 34:58Speaker 1: The man for the man who has nothing to hide
- 35:00Speaker 1: but still wants to.
- 35:01Speaker 4: Still want and it had did have a wallet and
- 35:04Speaker 4: then you hold it out, you let it go, and
- 35:06Speaker 4: there's this sort of like sound off camera and you
- 35:08Speaker 4: just WinCE a bit.
- 35:09Speaker 1: Yeah exactly. But I mean everywhere I go in my life,
- 35:14Speaker 1: and I've been traveled all around the world, I will
- 35:16Speaker 1: have people yell eagle at me as they walk down
- 35:18Speaker 1: the street.
- 35:19Speaker 2: It's forever, It's forever.
- 35:21Speaker 1: Yeah, all because of this moment at one minute thirty.
- 35:24Speaker 2: Eight, and then Krista goes for a spin. I wonder
- 35:27Speaker 2: if Krista liked that feeling. Krista wasn't too fond of
- 35:31Speaker 2: the spin.
- 35:31Speaker 1: I bet she liked it because it was Brendan. If
- 35:33Speaker 1: it was anybody else, she would have.
- 35:34Speaker 2: Been like, there's no way, there's no way.
- 35:38Speaker 1: I can't imagine a Bill writing an episode. If Bill
- 35:41Speaker 1: put any other character picks up Krista and spins her,
- 35:44Speaker 1: she would have been.
- 35:45Speaker 2: Like, no, no, no, no no no no no no no
- 35:46Speaker 2: no no no no no no. Uh tangle in my giblets.
- 35:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I laughed out loud at that. I don't like
- 35:56Speaker 1: too much freedom down there. It makes me tingle in
- 35:58Speaker 1: my giblets. I think I may have made that one up,
- 36:03Speaker 1: because I don't think Bill would have written Jibletz. Brennan.
- 36:07Speaker 1: You found a way with this character to bring out something.
- 36:12Speaker 1: You know, Johnny C had yet to really warm up
- 36:15Speaker 1: to anybody. He's his character, Doctor Cox is playing he's
- 36:18Speaker 1: such a tough alpha guy. And then with your character,
- 36:22Speaker 1: we see the friendship that that that JD in Turk
- 36:26Speaker 1: have mirrored a bit. We see, Oh, there is a
- 36:29Speaker 1: guy out there who's silly and who's goofy and is
- 36:32Speaker 1: and is out there who's kind of like his JD.
- 36:37Speaker 1: If you, if you will, do you know what I mean?
- 36:39Speaker 1: Like you? You you brought out the silly side of
- 36:42Speaker 1: a guy the audience is only known as someone who's
- 36:45Speaker 1: so serious and agro.
- 36:47Speaker 4: Right he was and just just like Johnny C.
- 36:53Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, although Johnny's a smidgen.
- 36:56Speaker 4: Nicer right, absolutely heart of gold.
- 37:02Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 37:03Speaker 2: Did you know Johnny before this, had you guys worked together?
- 37:06Speaker 7: We know we had not met before.
- 37:07Speaker 4: I'd seen him in films that he'd made, and but
- 37:12Speaker 4: I think I met him on the day tell you
- 37:14Speaker 4: the truth to day, there was a nail in my hand, Yeah,
- 37:19Speaker 4: a board, right, if.
- 37:20Speaker 1: I remember that was the first episode before this.
- 37:22Speaker 4: One, correctly, I think we met like maybe three minutes
- 37:24Speaker 4: earlier than that. But it's because he doesn't take much
- 37:28Speaker 4: time to makeup chair I learned. He just kind of
- 37:30Speaker 4: walks in, scrubs his head and then makes like these
- 37:35Speaker 4: sort of animal grunt noises, puts product in it and
- 37:39Speaker 4: does it again and the like does like elaborate clicking
- 37:42Speaker 4: and snapping with his fingers, and then.
- 37:48Speaker 7: He takes off. He's good to go.
- 37:49Speaker 4: I had to show up, like, you know, an hour
- 37:51Speaker 4: early with Christa, so we could you know, get our
- 37:54Speaker 4: strand by strand done just perfect?
- 37:58Speaker 2: Yeah? Do you?
- 37:58Speaker 1: Donald went through, Donnie Donald, Colin Farrell was on the show,
- 38:02Speaker 1: and I think it was him, right Donald, you didn't
- 38:04Speaker 1: want any makeup and uh, you know, because he looks
- 38:07Speaker 1: like Colin Farrell. And then Donald was like, you know what,
- 38:09Speaker 1: I'm gonna start doing that. I don't need makeup either.
- 38:11Speaker 2: If it's good enough for Colin Farrell, it's good enough
- 38:13Speaker 2: for me.
- 38:14Speaker 1: And Donald Donald was like showing off like I don't
- 38:15Speaker 1: even make up either, and then like we did one episode.
- 38:18Speaker 1: In the next week, Donald was like, I'm gonna go
- 38:19Speaker 1: back to the makeup.
- 38:20Speaker 2: I'm gonna go back to Uh speaking of makeup, is
- 38:25Speaker 2: that you in in the in the costume all the
- 38:29Speaker 2: time or do they have a stand in for you
- 38:31Speaker 2: or do you have to do makeup every day like that?
- 38:34Speaker 7: Which costume?
- 38:35Speaker 4: Which I've had a lot of weird ones, and I've
- 38:37Speaker 4: had some that were at all Oh for Patrol, Oh, No,
- 38:41Speaker 4: that's voiced by Riley shan I mean I'm voicing the character.
- 38:44Speaker 4: Riley Shanahan wear's the suit. He is a wonderful comedic
- 38:50Speaker 4: performer with fantastic timing and he's full on playing the
- 38:55Speaker 4: character through a mask. Yeah, and uh he he does
- 39:02Speaker 4: the heavy lifting there. I mean, I show up in
- 39:04Speaker 4: an episode or two wearing pieces of that because, like
- 39:06Speaker 4: I said, it it borrowed. It breaks a lot of
- 39:09Speaker 4: rules and makes its own and the way the show unfolds.
- 39:12Speaker 4: But otherwise, no, I'm it's like I gotta, I gotta,
- 39:15Speaker 4: I gotta be clear with you. It's like it's like
- 39:16Speaker 4: a dream job. Somebody else wears the thing shows up
- 39:18Speaker 4: for you. In recent months, I don't even go inside
- 39:22Speaker 4: the studio like we all know you're sitting in your
- 39:24Speaker 4: closet right now.
- 39:25Speaker 7: I've been doing a d R on a cell phone.
- 39:28Speaker 2: It's it's it's weird days.
- 39:30Speaker 7: It's weird days for a business. But on the other hand, like,
- 39:32Speaker 7: don't tell anybody this is.
- 39:33Speaker 4: Actually I think that's the case wearing pants.
- 39:38Speaker 1: I think that's the case with I think it's the
- 39:41Speaker 1: case with Mandalorian too, you know, because that's all stuntman.
- 39:46Speaker 7: Right, yes, yeah, yeah, So I mean.
- 39:51Speaker 1: Not to talk about it though, do they did? The
- 39:53Speaker 1: producers want you to be like, no, Brennan's in the suit.
- 39:56Speaker 7: No, no way, I would never do that. That's not
- 39:58Speaker 7: fair to Riley.
- 39:59Speaker 4: I I mean, and I'm fifty one now. This guy
- 40:03Speaker 4: is like built like a tree and that thing is
- 40:06Speaker 4: that those robot suits and all that, all that, like
- 40:09Speaker 4: you know DC Comic and Marvel Comic, those outfitial supersuits.
- 40:12Speaker 7: They're heavy, they are superformers are really unsung heroes. I
- 40:18Speaker 7: worked with many of them.
- 40:19Speaker 4: I worked with them on on I'll say the titles
- 40:21Speaker 4: George of the Jungle, the guys in the gorilla suits
- 40:24Speaker 4: are amazing. They're they're I mean, they really take sime
- 40:27Speaker 4: and behavior seriously and I mean, it's it's a thing
- 40:31Speaker 4: back comedy. But at the same time, no, there, they
- 40:34Speaker 4: were quite specific about what they needed and how they
- 40:37Speaker 4: would move as a troop.
- 40:37Speaker 1: And yeah, I mean, can you tell Donald and I
- 40:40Speaker 1: how to get in that kind of shape if we
- 40:42Speaker 1: ever wanted to try, because you're pretty ripped in that movie.
- 40:46Speaker 4: Yeah, go back in time and eat nothing but like
- 40:49Speaker 4: broccoli and styrofoam, lift weights until you puke, and then
- 40:56Speaker 4: go wash your mouth out and keep doing it.
- 40:58Speaker 12: Oh.
- 40:59Speaker 1: I was once the gym and a gym and an
- 41:02Speaker 1: arms Schwarzeninger walked into the gym to sort of inspect it.
- 41:05Speaker 1: I guess his friend owned it or something, and he
- 41:08Speaker 1: was still the governor and he walked over to me
- 41:11Speaker 1: on the I was on one of the benches, and
- 41:15Speaker 1: I don't know if he recognized me as an actor
- 41:16Speaker 1: or if he was just sort of like talking to
- 41:18Speaker 1: me as a citizen, like, hello, what's your goals with
- 41:22Speaker 1: your workout? And I was I was so starstruck, and
- 41:25Speaker 1: I was like, uh, oh, well, I guess I just
- 41:29Speaker 1: kind of want to look like Brad Pitt and Fight Club.
- 41:31Speaker 1: And he goes and he goes, you need to eat
- 41:33Speaker 1: a lot of carrots. That's all carrots. So for like
- 41:39Speaker 1: the next two months, I was just like fucking pounding
- 41:41Speaker 1: carrots and it never happened ripped. No, I mean it
- 41:45Speaker 1: never happened. It never. I never had a grapitt fight
- 41:48Speaker 1: club orange skin.
- 41:51Speaker 2: You definitely got orange, that's for sure.
- 41:54Speaker 1: It's a lot of carrots. And then he just moved
- 41:56Speaker 1: on to somebody else.
- 41:58Speaker 7: You hit a lot of broccol league you. You eat
- 42:02Speaker 7: a lot of kumquats.
- 42:04Speaker 2: And you eat a squash.
- 42:06Speaker 4: You.
- 42:07Speaker 13: He's walking around to each verson in the gym for you,
- 42:10Speaker 13: broccoli for you?
- 42:23Speaker 1: How long you train? How long would when? How long
- 42:25Speaker 1: would you train for something like that? I mean the
- 42:26Speaker 1: Mummy too. I mean, I know you're in six shape,
- 42:28Speaker 1: Like did you did you? Would you go through big
- 42:29Speaker 1: training periods?
- 42:31Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 42:31Speaker 4: If I recall it was, I mean all in it's
- 42:34Speaker 4: like a year if you're gonna you know, and then
- 42:37Speaker 4: you do maintenance and blah blah. But you know, I
- 42:44Speaker 4: I haven't asked about this frequently over the years, and
- 42:46Speaker 4: I really don't know the answer because everyone's body is
- 42:48Speaker 4: so different, and I almost feel reticent to say, well,
- 42:51Speaker 4: this is what I did, because then people want to
- 42:53Speaker 4: emulate or do that, and it might not be right
- 42:54Speaker 4: for them. But I guess, if i'd be honest, it's
- 42:59Speaker 4: just just just just get it over with and lift weights,
- 43:05Speaker 4: I guess. But the thing is that there's wear and
- 43:07Speaker 4: tear on your joints, your spine. I became really proficient
- 43:12Speaker 4: with ice bags, like really talk about nerdy camera geek.
- 43:16Speaker 4: I was like nerdy ice cube geek. And and uh,
- 43:22Speaker 4: you know, it's a lot to keep it's a lot
- 43:24Speaker 4: to keep up.
- 43:24Speaker 7: It's a lot to ask of your body.
- 43:26Speaker 4: And I have to say with confidence that I felt
- 43:31Speaker 4: a sense of relief when it wasn't something that was
- 43:35Speaker 4: expected of me, that wasn't exactly what you know, I'm
- 43:37Speaker 4: known for. Or I was happy.
- 43:41Speaker 7: To say that's someone else's job right now, you know, like.
- 43:46Speaker 4: And uh, and just you know, pound back the milkshakes.
- 43:50Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, and focus on Paul.
- 43:52Speaker 2: Paul Rudd said something very similar to me. He was like,
- 43:54Speaker 2: you know, I felt great when I was doing it.
- 43:58Speaker 2: But I'm gonna tell you something right now, I'd love
- 44:00Speaker 2: to drink a milkshake right now. I'd love something, you
- 44:03Speaker 2: know what I mean, Like, you're absolutely right, it's like
- 44:05Speaker 2: when you're doing it you feel great and there's a purpose.
- 44:08Speaker 2: Somebody's paying you a lot of money to do this stuff.
- 44:10Speaker 2: But really, you know, living is a lot of fun too, if.
- 44:15Speaker 7: I feel it.
- 44:16Speaker 4: And you know, I got to say something psychologically, if
- 44:19Speaker 4: I'm honest, I can look at those images now and think,
- 44:24Speaker 4: I see a guy who is still insecure, who still
- 44:29Speaker 4: felt like a certain part of your body didn't look
- 44:32Speaker 4: the proportion that you were hoping for. Or I learned
- 44:36Speaker 4: from that that our self image is just really tied
- 44:41Speaker 4: up with a single thing, and that's confidence. If you
- 44:45Speaker 4: have that, it doesn't matter how often you go to
- 44:48Speaker 4: a gym or don't go to a gym. I really
- 44:51Speaker 4: learned that it's about the person who you are and
- 44:54Speaker 4: the rest is just decoration.
- 44:56Speaker 2: Yeah, oh I agree. I wish I you know, I
- 44:59Speaker 2: wish I had that confidence when I go places like
- 45:03Speaker 2: the beach and stuff like that, Like I feel great
- 45:05Speaker 2: in my skin at home, I could prance around naked
- 45:07Speaker 2: in front of my wife and stuff like that, and
- 45:10Speaker 2: I'm confident that I, you know, I still feel I
- 45:13Speaker 2: still feel and look sexy to her. When you go
- 45:16Speaker 2: to the beach, though, and there's a and there's a
- 45:20Speaker 2: you know, stigmatism of how everybody's supposed to look and
- 45:24Speaker 2: you don't necessarily fit that type. It's like, wait a second.
- 45:27Speaker 2: You know, I don't necessarily want to take my shirt
- 45:29Speaker 2: off and jump into the water, now, you know what
- 45:31Speaker 2: I mean? I have I have. I have real issues
- 45:34Speaker 2: when it comes to that. I remember working so hard
- 45:37Speaker 2: to get in shape and look a certain way, you know,
- 45:42Speaker 2: when like, just like you said, when it was time
- 45:44Speaker 2: for the big reveal, I felt like I didn't reach
- 45:47Speaker 2: my goal, you know what I mean. Then I look
- 45:49Speaker 2: back at it now and I'm like, holy shit, I
- 45:51Speaker 2: looked bad, Like holy look at that. But it back.
- 45:57Speaker 2: I remember we talked about this on the podcast. I
- 46:00Speaker 2: just wish I could have been present when I you
- 46:04Speaker 2: know what I mean, Like there were so many things
- 46:06Speaker 2: on my mind when all the projects that I've made before,
- 46:09Speaker 2: I wish I could have just been it, just experienced
- 46:12Speaker 2: every moment, and I didn't. I was too worried about
- 46:15Speaker 2: this or too interested in something else, uh, to really
- 46:20Speaker 2: focus on you know.
- 46:22Speaker 4: And now the age that we live in, everybody has
- 46:24Speaker 4: a camera right in their pocket, and we're all privy
- 46:28Speaker 4: to one another's physiques, and it's you know, it's a.
- 46:31Speaker 4: It's a it's a it's a macabre pastime that is
- 46:37Speaker 4: available to everyone. And and you know, depending on where
- 46:41Speaker 4: you are in the world or what country part of
- 46:43Speaker 4: the country, Somewhere in the back of my mind, I
- 46:46Speaker 4: always wonder, is there's somebody with a long lens?
- 46:48Speaker 7: You know, is there a sniper right are?
- 46:52Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 46:52Speaker 7: Did you that happened a lot in LA for sure.
- 46:55Speaker 1: But out of LA is that one of the like
- 46:57Speaker 1: tell us a little bit about.
- 46:59Speaker 7: I felt relief.
- 47:00Speaker 4: I mean for that reason alone that you know, because
- 47:02Speaker 4: it's it's uh, it's a place that's that's that's uh,
- 47:06Speaker 4: that's myopic in that sense. Yeah, and you know, with
- 47:09Speaker 4: distance you can get some perspective, yeah, which was which
- 47:14Speaker 4: was helpful to me.
- 47:15Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure. You know, my wife always says, She'll
- 47:18Speaker 2: say something to me like, you know, I'm just bigger
- 47:21Speaker 2: than everybody. And I'm like, in l A. I mean,
- 47:26Speaker 2: you're bigger than everybody in l A. And you go
- 47:31Speaker 2: anyplace else and people would be like, damn, girl, eat
- 47:34Speaker 2: a sandwich or something, you know what I mean.
- 47:37Speaker 1: But I think it's good when actors get out of
- 47:41Speaker 1: New York and in l A. I mean, you have
- 47:42Speaker 1: to have reached a certain level of of stature in
- 47:45Speaker 1: the business as you have where you can kind of
- 47:47Speaker 1: be anywhere you want. But I I fantasize about that sometimes.
- 47:52Speaker 1: I don't know about Donald, about being able to be
- 47:54Speaker 1: somewhere that's not in the heart of the industry.
- 47:58Speaker 2: I think, well, yeah, you'd get more for your buck.
- 48:01Speaker 2: First of all, you get more, you know what I mean.
- 48:03Speaker 2: The two million dollars that you spend in Los Angeles
- 48:06Speaker 2: gets you a room with the window. You do that
- 48:09Speaker 2: ship in Montana, and you got a ranch, you know
- 48:11Speaker 2: what I mean. Like, it's a huge difference. I would
- 48:15Speaker 2: I would you know.
- 48:15Speaker 1: I can't picture you on a ranch. Would you like
- 48:17Speaker 1: a ranch.
- 48:18Speaker 2: I could pick? I could picture, but listen, I could
- 48:19Speaker 2: picture myself in Yeah.
- 48:22Speaker 1: I know. But wait, Donald, I never asked you this.
- 48:24Speaker 2: Shit doesn't have to have animals on it.
- 48:26Speaker 1: It just needs to know I never as I never
- 48:29Speaker 1: asked you this. If you could live anywhere in the
- 48:31Speaker 1: country that's not in New York or LA and you
- 48:34Speaker 1: could have you know, you could. You know, money is
- 48:36Speaker 1: no object. I don't mean like some stupid epic mansion.
- 48:38Speaker 1: I mean, like, you know, you have all the money
- 48:40Speaker 1: that you want to spend. What would you choose? Would
- 48:43Speaker 1: you choose the Montana Ranch or would you choose I
- 48:46Speaker 1: don't know what. I can't picture. I never asked you
- 48:48Speaker 1: what your what that would be for you.
- 48:51Speaker 2: I'm a city boy, so I'd have to live in
- 48:53Speaker 2: I'd have to find some I'd have to live in
- 48:54Speaker 2: the city. But if I, if I could live any place,
- 48:58Speaker 2: there's two places that I would love to live. One Toronto.
- 49:01Speaker 2: I love. I love the city. It's one of my
- 49:03Speaker 2: favorite cities of all time. If I could live anywhere
- 49:05Speaker 2: and have and if money was no object, which it
- 49:09Speaker 2: always is, but if it wasn't an object, dude, I
- 49:12Speaker 2: would live somewhere in Toronto that was freaking, you know,
- 49:17Speaker 2: wonderful and great either there or I You know, I
- 49:21Speaker 2: am a huge fan of London. You know this. It's
- 49:23Speaker 2: one of my favorite cities. I do like that area.
- 49:26Speaker 1: And you're very popular there. You're like, you're like, you know,
- 49:29Speaker 1: Denzel Washington of the United Kingdom.
- 49:31Speaker 2: No, I disagree. There's people like John Boyega. There are
- 49:35Speaker 2: a bunch of people from the United United Kingdom.
- 49:40Speaker 1: They do love you, and the people that are listening
- 49:44Speaker 1: in the United Kingdom can attest to loving Donald Faison.
- 49:47Speaker 2: All right, how about this if y'all loved me in
- 49:49Speaker 2: the United Kingdom like you love Denzel or more than
- 49:51Speaker 2: you love Denzel, hit me up on Twitter and Instagram
- 49:54Speaker 2: and say that shit. Yeah, I'm gonna send it to
- 49:57Speaker 2: Denzel and be like, in your face, Denzel.
- 49:59Speaker 1: Your face, let this let this week.
- 50:01Speaker 2: I got the uk on lock, I got the uk
- 50:04Speaker 2: on lock.
- 50:05Speaker 1: You're gonna make Brendan have to pull out his earphones.

- 50:29Speaker 1: Because whenever fans talk about their favorite episode, it's either
- 50:32Speaker 1: that one or or the musical usually, right Donald.
- 50:35Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely, uh more more that one though that's everyone's.
- 50:40Speaker 2: It seems like that's the universal number one episode for
- 50:45Speaker 2: all of the Scrubs fans. It's rare that we get
- 50:47Speaker 2: anything else. It's always the one where where your character
- 50:52Speaker 2: passes away and Cox has no idea where he's at
- 50:55Speaker 2: at the end.
- 50:57Speaker 4: Well, you guys are really kind and you were so
- 50:59Speaker 4: kind to me then, and I'm really grateful for that experience,
- 51:02Speaker 4: and it means a lot to me that people still
- 51:08Speaker 4: are finding it today and that that you included me
- 51:12Speaker 4: on the show.
- 51:13Speaker 2: Thank you included you. Dude. We were so happy that
- 51:15Speaker 2: you were doing I remember when we I was like.
- 51:19Speaker 1: Holy shit, yeah, we got a real star.
- 51:22Speaker 2: We got a real star.
- 51:25Speaker 1: We got it's like you're fishing. We got one on
- 51:27Speaker 1: the line. Thank you so much, And everybody check out
- 51:32Speaker 1: Doom Patrol. When is it? When is season two premier
- 51:34Speaker 1: June June twenty five on HBO Max Guys, check it
- 51:38Speaker 1: out and Brendan, thank you so much. We love you.
- 51:40Speaker 1: We'll see it. Oh my god, what a what a
- 51:45Speaker 1: what a what a sweet human being?
- 51:47Speaker 2: Huh that was so awesome, dude. I can't believe we
- 51:49Speaker 2: had them on.
- 51:50Speaker 1: But he's just like his You know, these people they
- 51:53Speaker 1: just and you're so happy when they're coming to your life.
- 51:55Speaker 1: They just want to glow peace and kindness. You know,
- 52:00Speaker 1: even though we're over zoom. He's just he's just, he's
- 52:02Speaker 1: just fire hosting his heart at you. You know what
- 52:05Speaker 1: I mean.
- 52:06Speaker 2: He's got that et heart light.
- 52:07Speaker 1: He's got the et hard light. He said it better
- 52:10Speaker 1: than I do. He's got an et glowing heart light.
- 52:13Speaker 2: You feel it, you feel it.
- 52:14Speaker 1: I'm glad that. I'm almost glad that he couldn't stay
- 52:18Speaker 1: the whole time because I was looking at all my
- 52:20Speaker 1: notes about Turning talking through the episode, and I'm like,
- 52:22Speaker 1: I don't want to bother Brendan by talking about doctor Zeltzer. Right,
- 52:27Speaker 1: Like you have Brendan, Brendan sitting there being like, I
- 52:30Speaker 1: don't I don't know anything about it. I don't want to.
- 52:32Speaker 1: I don't want to. I don't care that that. That's
- 52:35Speaker 1: that Rob had a big bit of medical jargon. What
- 52:37Speaker 1: the fuck do I go? The fuck? I gotta go
- 52:38Speaker 1: feed my kids.
- 52:40Speaker 2: Well, you did the whole we'd skipped over the whole
- 52:42Speaker 2: Tony Shaloup situation.
- 52:43Speaker 1: We're talking, Yeah, go back, go back. Now that Brendan's gone,
- 52:45Speaker 1: I can relax, I can breathe. I was so nervous.
- 52:47Speaker 1: I wanted to do a good job. Now now it's
- 52:49Speaker 1: just me. Now it's just us four. I can. I
- 52:52Speaker 1: can talk about Zeltzer. I can talk about anything.
- 52:54Speaker 2: This whole tony salute thing. This was before he started
- 52:57Speaker 2: winning all the Emmys.
- 52:58Speaker 1: Huh yeah, before he started beating me every single time.
- 53:01Speaker 2: Beating you. He beat everyone, dude, he beat everyone.
- 53:04Speaker 1: I know everyone. Okay, okay, do you know what that's from?
- 53:09Speaker 2: Do you know what that's from? No, you never saw
- 53:11Speaker 2: the professional.
- 53:14Speaker 7: Gary.
- 53:15Speaker 1: Oh yeah, of course with now that Gary.
- 53:16Speaker 2: Yeah, Gary Oleman in the We've got him upstairs. What
- 53:21Speaker 2: do you want? Bring me? Everyone? Everyone, every I'm sorry.
- 53:29Speaker 1: If you're listening to this podcast on earbuds, I apologize.
- 53:32Speaker 1: I will try and counterbalance it with this soft podcast
- 53:35Speaker 1: voice I have.
- 53:37Speaker 2: You don't remember that?
- 53:38Speaker 1: Do you remember that SNL sketch where they were doing
- 53:40Speaker 1: like a it was like the Sweaty Balls one where
- 53:42Speaker 1: they were doing like oh my god, I can't wait.
- 53:45Speaker 1: But that was when Alec Baulm was the guest star.
- 53:46Speaker 1: But the normal show was like, yes, they talked like this,
- 53:49Speaker 1: that's fun, that's really fun. Oh it's great.
- 53:51Speaker 5: It's been in Jerry's ice cream flavor.
- 53:53Speaker 6: Now balls mm hmm, and one of these balls of
- 53:57Speaker 6: peanut butter.
- 53:58Speaker 4: Man.
- 53:59Speaker 2: I was hoping, what's your favorite?
- 54:01Speaker 1: Ben and Jerry's. We should try and get them as
- 54:02Speaker 1: a sponsor so we can get buckets and free ice cream.
- 54:05Speaker 2: Dude, Ben and Jerry's rocks, Yo, Ben, listen, I will
- 54:08Speaker 2: pay money for Ben and Jerry's from here on out,
- 54:12Speaker 2: especially after this whole the whole black Lives Matter situation
- 54:16Speaker 2: that's been going on, when they straight up said, yo,
- 54:20Speaker 2: black lives matter. Anyone say anything else, pretty much go
- 54:24Speaker 2: fuck yourself.
- 54:26Speaker 1: Good for them. I love it. By the way, I'm
- 54:29Speaker 1: not just saying that. I really I can't have Ben
- 54:31Speaker 1: and Jerry's in my house because I'll just snort it
- 54:34Speaker 1: like it's fucking cocaine.
- 54:36Speaker 2: WHOA Do we need to have a conversation about.
- 54:39Speaker 1: Your No, I'm just saying, imagine that when I people
- 54:42Speaker 1: that have a coke problem.
- 54:44Speaker 2: A problem if you're snorting ice cream like.
- 54:46Speaker 1: You like you don't snort your ice cream Donald's. It's
- 54:49Speaker 1: only problem when you get a particularly chunky flavor and
- 54:52Speaker 1: like a a peanut buttered pretzel gets stuck in your nose.
- 54:55Speaker 2: Oh my gosh.
- 54:57Speaker 1: You I like chubby Hubby a lot. Well, Daniel is
- 55:02Speaker 1: freaking out over there. He likes that too, Like no play.
- 55:06Speaker 3: I can never find it, but it's my favorite flavor.
- 55:09Speaker 1: I love Chubby. I like anything basically anything with peanut
- 55:12Speaker 1: butter because I like peanut butter and chocolate in my
- 55:14Speaker 1: ice cream.
- 55:16Speaker 5: I see that the milk is the best flavory.
- 55:18Speaker 1: I like them.
- 55:19Speaker 2: I'm gonna be honest with you. I'm gonna be honest
- 55:20Speaker 2: with you. I don't eat a lot of Ben and
- 55:22Speaker 2: Jerry's ice cream. That is the honest to goodness.
- 55:25Speaker 1: Is there another brand that you would have the audacity
- 55:27Speaker 1: to choose, because we're trying to get them to be
- 55:28Speaker 1: our sponsors, so don't fund this up there.
- 55:30Speaker 2: There isn't another brand that I would have the audacity
- 55:32Speaker 2: to choose. I'm just saying it hasn't been something that
- 55:36Speaker 2: I have been getting a lot of.
- 55:38Speaker 1: Oh, because you're trying to stay thin, but then you
- 55:40Speaker 1: go home and make that shit yourself.
- 55:42Speaker 2: I prefer to make my ice cream. So if Ben
- 55:44Speaker 2: and Jerry's wants to become a sponsor and teach them
- 55:46Speaker 2: opfucker how to make somebody's flavors.
- 55:49Speaker 1: Yeah, so that's what Benger's gonna do. They're gonna come
- 55:51Speaker 1: on and teach you how to make their top secret
- 55:52Speaker 1: ice cream.
- 55:53Speaker 2: I wouldn't. I wouldn't I wouldn't give it away. I
- 55:55Speaker 2: would keep it for myself. There are a bunch of
- 55:57Speaker 2: There are a bunch of things that I wish the
- 55:59Speaker 2: owners of the company would be like, all right, look,
- 56:01Speaker 2: we're just gonna give you the recipe. Keep that ship
- 56:03Speaker 2: to yourself, but you can make it at home. Krispy Kreme, Hello,
- 56:07Speaker 2: teach me how to make a donut.
- 56:09Speaker 1: What about those salts Cure pancakes.
- 56:12Speaker 2: The Salt's Cure pancakes.
- 56:13Speaker 1: Yeah, my restaurant in Los Angeles, Donald Trum.
- 56:15Speaker 2: You've never had your oh my bad? Oh yeah. And
- 56:18Speaker 2: then there's the Salt's Cure pancakes are very, very tasty.
- 56:23Speaker 2: But you know where I really like the pancakes is Dupars,
- 56:26Speaker 2: Dear DuPonts. No, no, you fuck you myself, motherfucker.
- 56:32Speaker 10: Hold on, goddamnit.
- 56:34Speaker 7: Hold on.
- 56:35Speaker 1: I am now going back to my podcast voice to
- 56:38Speaker 1: counterbalance Donald's loud voice.
- 56:41Speaker 2: And then and then Masstros. If you could teach me
- 56:43Speaker 2: how to make that buttercake, Yo, that buttercake, that buttercake. Mastros?
- 56:49Speaker 2: You remember you remember Mastros where we used to go
- 56:51Speaker 2: for steak night?
- 56:52Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, do you.
- 56:53Speaker 2: Remember steak Night. I know you don't eat meat anymore,
- 56:55Speaker 2: but do you remember steak night?
- 56:56Speaker 1: Of course we used to legit. Go to steak night.
- 56:59Speaker 1: It is the world's best meat. It is such a treat.
- 57:02Speaker 1: Are you going a steak night?
- 57:04Speaker 10: Yeah?
- 57:05Speaker 1: Donald, I made that song up. I want the world
- 57:07Speaker 1: to know. That was another in addition to our theme
- 57:09Speaker 1: song with the help of Charlie Poof. A Steak Night
- 57:12Speaker 1: with no help from Charlie poof is is an original
- 57:14Speaker 1: song by Donald Faison and I were you going egg night?
- 57:19Speaker 14: It right?
- 57:22Speaker 1: Misteak is such? It is best meat.
- 57:26Speaker 2: Steak Night.
- 57:30Speaker 1: And then we did the fucking this dance Brady Bunch dance.
- 57:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 57:34Speaker 1: Do you remember when the Brady Bunch did, They like
- 57:36Speaker 1: would perform it's like a band. Like in the later episodes,
- 57:38Speaker 1: they became like a band, and that was their move,
- 57:41Speaker 1: like when it's time to change, you've got to rearrangeaanaa happen.
- 57:53Speaker 1: Peter went to puberty, remember and he went he was like,
- 57:55Speaker 1: and if you remember that episode, if you're old enough
- 57:58Speaker 1: to remember, he was going through puberty and and he
- 58:01Speaker 1: when he was singing his song, he was like, when
- 58:02Speaker 1: it's time to change, you've got to real range and
- 58:06Speaker 1: they were like, oh no, what are we gonna do?
- 58:07Speaker 1: Peter's going through puberty?
- 58:09Speaker 2: What the fuck happened? And all of a sudden, the
- 58:11Speaker 2: Brady Bunch were in a band like out of nowhere.
- 58:14Speaker 2: It was like Season one, The Brady Bunch, they're having
- 58:16Speaker 2: a hard time coming together as a family. Season two,
- 58:20Speaker 2: The Brady Bunch, They're going to school now things are great.
- 58:23Speaker 2: Season three they're in a band like what.
- 58:25Speaker 1: I don't know if it was season three, I don't
- 58:27Speaker 1: know either.
- 58:27Speaker 2: I'm just guessing, but out of nowhere all but it
- 58:29Speaker 2: had to be there.
- 58:30Speaker 1: Can you find out? When how many seasons in the
- 58:32Speaker 1: pretty much Pcician, it's the same shit, Donald, it's jumping
- 58:34Speaker 1: the shark. It's like red haired Sam coming in a
- 58:36Speaker 1: different strokes. You gotta shape shit up.
- 58:39Speaker 2: They they went to fucking Hawaii and jumped the shark.
- 58:41Speaker 2: Remember the Hawaii Well, of course you remember, we get
- 58:46Speaker 2: I mean, we'd use it in scrubs.
- 58:47Speaker 1: We gotta sell those teaki necklaces on our merch shop
- 58:50Speaker 1: one day, one day when iheartshits are our merch shop
- 58:55Speaker 1: going okay? Someone said that, wait, can I fucking finish
- 58:59Speaker 1: a sentence for the what you got it.
- 59:00Speaker 2: Listen for for Listen for.
- 59:02Speaker 1: The love of yahweh sentence for only for Yah. Someone
- 59:06Speaker 1: told me they had a good merch idea oh that
- 59:09Speaker 1: they thought when I mistakenly said sports players instead of athletes,
- 59:15Speaker 1: someone said, please make a T shirt that says sports
- 59:17Speaker 1: players on it.
- 59:18Speaker 2: I like that.
- 59:21Speaker 1: I'd rather the fuck out.
- 59:22Speaker 2: Of that sports players.
- 59:24Speaker 1: What's your last thing? Let's talk about Let's talk about
- 59:26Speaker 1: Ted's band.
- 59:27Speaker 2: Okay, thank you, say man, this is why I should
- 59:29Speaker 2: I should just say what I want to say, because
- 59:32Speaker 2: now it looks like I'm jumping on your coat tails.
- 59:34Speaker 2: That's what I wanted to talk about. Let's talk about
- 59:35Speaker 2: Ted's band.
- 59:36Speaker 1: Okay. Ted's band is first is introduced. In this episode.
- 59:41Speaker 1: You get to see for the second time what a
- 59:44Speaker 1: ridiculously beautiful voice our Sammy Lloyd had. And it's so
- 59:49Speaker 1: tragic to use the word had, but uh it is accurate.
- 59:52Speaker 1: They say had he This was real. This was his friends,
- 59:57Speaker 1: all his all those men, those three men are his buddy,
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: and they all sang a cappella with him, and so
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: we gave them Bill gave them jobs in the hospital
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: and and formed the Ncpella Group. And as I read
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: on scrubs Wiki. It was originally supposed to be the
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: Superman theme, but they couldn't get the rights. Yes, so
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: that's how Underdog came about. I remember that would have
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: made more sense because there's a whole Superman motif.
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: But they can remember Sam and we can sing it
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: on here because we're not gonna. I don't think we'll
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: get in trouble for it, and if we will, cut
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: it out. But it was like three bullets of speed
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: left behind, two powerful.
- 1:00:41Speaker 8: Trains turned around, one able to leap buildings, tall, inner run,
- 1:00:53Speaker 8: all in one single bound Superman Superman.
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: Where is Superman? Superman? Superman calling super that human? Steve Wait.
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: These lyrics on the written by Sam and his band,
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: the band.
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: Oh So the song I mean you made me think
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: that this was the theme song had lyrics.
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: John Williams wrote this, John right right, so it was
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: just right, and so they sang the whole song with
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: words I have it on my iPhone like it's something
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: that's stuck.
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: So those guys wrote those Those guys wrote it and
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: the lyrics, as I recall on Paul, one of the
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: members of the band, wrote all a bunch of the
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: the songs from the musical? Did he not write the
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: guy Love?
- 1:01:42Speaker 7: Oh?
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: I don't that. I don't know. This is a great Bill.
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: This is a great Bill Lawrence question.
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: Okay, hey, Bill, talk to us about Ted's band. Ted's
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: band and Paul from the band whose name I can't
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: quite remember right now, but we will say it in
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: this episode. Didn't he write some of the musical, including
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: the song guy Love? Because I feel like that's a
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: bit of trivia. That's that's true.
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: Also, where did you come up with the idea? I
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: mean it's obvious, but.
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: Oh I got it. Paul Perry. Sorry, sorry, guys, it's in.
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: It's Philip mcnivin or George George forgive me if I
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: don't say your name right, miserless and Paul Perry. I
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: believe it was Paul Perry and and Bill will tell
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: us who wrote a bunch of the musical songs? Bill
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: tell us, Now.
- 1:02:31Speaker 14: Hey guys, it's cool talking to you. Look Paul Perry,
- 1:02:38Speaker 14: who was part of Ted's band who are known as
- 1:02:41Speaker 14: the Blanks in real life. This is how Sam Woyd
- 1:02:43Speaker 14: came into my life. He was on Spin City back
- 1:02:45Speaker 14: in the day. Is Chris Lloyd's nephew. He played basketball
- 1:02:47Speaker 14: with us. Donald You played ball with him, and he
- 1:02:51Speaker 14: had this super talented acapella band that like wrote the
- 1:02:54Speaker 14: lyrics to Superman made him up and used to do
- 1:02:57Speaker 14: it at parties and stuff, and they were just so
- 1:02:59Speaker 14: darn talented, and Paul used to do all the arrangements
- 1:03:03Speaker 14: for them, so we just started using them on the
- 1:03:04Speaker 14: show as kind of a Greek chorus with commercials theme
- 1:03:07Speaker 14: songs and TV theme songs. So fun and you Paul
- 1:03:10Speaker 14: ended up writing a bunch of the songs for Guy
- 1:03:12Speaker 14: Love and a musical on his own as well. More
- 1:03:14Speaker 14: importantly too, the Blanks ended up touring, as you know,
- 1:03:17Speaker 14: the Worthless Peons. Ted's band after the show rapped doing
- 1:03:20Speaker 14: songs from the show and the theme song and their
- 1:03:23Speaker 14: version of the theme song in the finale is one
- 1:03:25Speaker 14: of my favorites. Super talented group top to bottom, and man,
- 1:03:31Speaker 14: just even talking about him makes me miss Sam.
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: Thank you Bill. Finally, where we're in the hospital where
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: the three of us get the hospital overnight and Ted's
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: band's performing and they do Charles in Charge. Yeah, that
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: was a great moment to a new boy in the
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: neighborhood lives downstairs and it's understood he's there just to
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: take good.
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: Care of me, like he's one of the family. Charles
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: e was in charge And I love that show. Didn't
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: you love that show?
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: I did? I did love that show.
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: Nicole Eggert, Nicole Eggert, nic Cole Eggert A moment of
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: silence for puberty. All right, let's talk about Zeltzer. Bob Clendennon.
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: This is his first appearance. He's pretty normal in this episode.
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: Zeltzer doesn't really get that wacky yet. He doesn't really
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: fly his his his flag.
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I know, I noticed that. How about Rob
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: Mascio with the medical I know, man, most impressive.
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: He really killed that. And and then, by the way,
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: another thing that came up, there's a lot of in
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: addition to Eagle and Ted's band of premiering in this episode.
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: This was a thing that we always choked about, was
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: uh that that Rob is the best surgeon that according
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: to doctor went right that he Yeah, because he does
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: he's what does he say? He goes?
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: Well, everybody else's everybody else is thinking about uh what
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: they this dude's just thinking has nothing in his brain
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: or something.
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't forget it. Yeah, he's like he's like
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: done Oh, I know what it is. It's done the tiny.
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: Yeah, Rob, I say this every every episode that he's in. Man,
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: he really does not get to knock it out the
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: park man.
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: I'm it was funny. By the way, this is a
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: we go into your head at fourteen twenty one. That
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: was like out of character for the show. We go
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: into your head and uh, we hear what your thoughts are,
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: and that's how we camera spins around to see. Uh.
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: By the way, and you had jargon, but I imagine
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: you just read that ship.
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: I read that ship off the piece of paper. I'm
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: pretty sure.
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: But I heard you say that medical giant. Does a
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: Donald read that ship?
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: He didn't remember he read that shit, right? And if
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: you know, I read that shit. So when he's smacking
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: the ass of the nurse, did you notice that the
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: nurse got her ass a little perched up high enough
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: so that the gag works.
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: Yeah, of course, that's that's how you make the joke fun.
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: I don't know what she's doing. She doesn't appear to
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: be doing anything.
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: No, she's just sitting there doing nothing. That's Lynn though,
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: by the way.
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: Yeah, that's our friend. That's our friend Lynn is she
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: But she she she doesn't. I'm just gonna scroll because
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: I have the episode open. I'm just wondering if she
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: at least is pretending to do something, because, as I recall,
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: she just looked like she was bent over.
- 1:06:23Speaker 15: Uh.
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: Season three, episode sixteen of The Brady Bunch, The Kids,
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: The Kids, they covered Casey and the Sunshine Ban.
- 1:06:32Speaker 6: It looks like it was employed for Paramount Records. They
- 1:06:34Speaker 6: were like, did it for three or four seasons?
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: I told you it was season three? See I have
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: my shit right and everything?
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: Man, did you guess season three? How old you know
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: your Brady Bunch lore?
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: Though, of course I guess that ship.
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: Do you do the Brady Bunch Wiki?
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: I should do the Brady Bunch Wiki?
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: I should. You're you're so funny, You're like, you're you
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: don't remember the fucking most obvious shit in our relationship?
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: And then you'll be like the Brady Bunch kids started
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: singing in nineteen seventy two. It was episode sixteen of
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: season three. All right, I want to talk about.
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: The choreographed move. Should we talk about that?
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: Yeah? That was cool? Do you remember doing that? Whenever
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: we're all now, I double all of us are doing
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: the exact same movements and it's a split screen and
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: we're all thinking, and it's all the exact same choreography.
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: And then I read on scrubs Wiki that for some reasons,
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: Judy's was backwards in terms of right left, and so
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: they flipped her. And that's why if you look Judy's
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: name tag is on the wrong side because in post
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: her choreography wasn't right, so they flipped her.
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: I I did not know that, I'm gonna be honest
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: with you. I thought this episode was gonna have way
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: more Brendan Fraser in it, to be honest with you,
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: I thought it was like a whole episode about, you know,
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: what happened to the character. I didn't know that other
- 1:07:51Speaker 2: shit went on in the hospital, so when watching it,
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: I was like, I don't remember any of this, Like I.
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: Know, that's why I felt weird, Like I wanted to
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: talk to Brendan, but I was like, I feel bad,
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: Like I want to talk about the episode, but I
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: don't want to put a fancy Brendan through, Like talking
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: about the fact that Johnny sees wearing his actual Oakley's
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: when we do the real world.
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: Spoof, Right, that's such a hilarious so funny.
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: Right, did you see your hair?
- 1:08:15Speaker 14: Dude?
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: Your hair is amazing. I took a picture of it
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: to show my girlfriend. It's so funny. And and Johnny's
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: wearing those comedic Oakley's, but those are really his Oakleys.
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: Johnny sees the kind of guy that really would rock
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: those oak He probably still wears them. Those like wrap
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: around like wrap around Oakley's.
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: They're perfect for athletes who have to who are on
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: the go. Like if you're jogging and you have the
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: wrap around Oakley's, no sunlight gets in and they don't
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: fall off your face.
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: I don't care. I love Johnny, but I'm not wearing
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: those Oakleys. Donald, and neither are you no matter what
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: sport you're playing.
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: Dude, you are you you let's be let's tell everybody
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: what you are. You're more amazing, amazing. Well, dude, you
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: know I love you, and you know I think you're amazing.
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: But you're also when it comes to sunglasses, you're very much. Uh.
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: The was the one that the aviator.
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: Yeah, or ray bands or or yeah that sort of vibe.
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: Yeah, Ray ban aviators.
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: But I wouldn't rock a colored glass wrap around Oakley.
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: That's not my vibe if you if you're playing tennis,
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: why not.
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: I just think they look I don't I know. Johnny listens, Johnny,
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: I love you, It's just not my style.
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: Let me let me just start off by saying.
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: Johnny listen. Johnny listens. Johnny listens while he's weightlifting, and
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: I know he's like, oh, I pump an iron right now.
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: I don't want to be like, fuck you, brap I
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: love my old glass probably got him on right now
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: in the gym. No, I want to talk about how
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: not only does this the janitor pick a lock when
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: that isn't locked.
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: Did you notice that, No, I didn't like.
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: No one took the time to find lockers that would
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: have even like a fake lock. It's like so clearly
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: not locked. And he takes a screwdriver and like pretends
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: to to pick a non locked locker.
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: And did you think that it was weird that you're
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: writing all of this stuff in a diary like out
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: of nowhere, like just out of nowhere.
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: I forgot all of a sudden the show's doogie howser.
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: And does that imply that all of JD's voiceovers are
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: going into a journal? I never even I mean, I
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: certainly didn't play it that way for eight and a
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: half years.
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: Right, So when I saw that, I was like, wait
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: a second. So there's there's data. There's information of everyone who,
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: like somebody could go back and in a time capsule
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: or wherever you know you pass up, passed away. There's
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: freaking stacks and stacks of diaries of everything that's ever
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: happened to JD.
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: I never really understood. And it seems that this is
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: the implication because it's a voiceover that goes right in
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: the diary that all the voiceover you're hearing is JD's journal. Now,
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: I do remember that I had a journal. I had
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: a unicorn with a sword on its head, and he's
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: there to protect my hopes and dreams. And I want
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: to show that this. I want to the record to
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: reflect this journal did not have a unicorn with a
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: sword on its head. So no one is pretecting my
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: hopes and dreams right now on this journal. That's why
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: the janitor is able to get in there. But I
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: thought it was funny when he said theater camp, because
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: you know that was me he really is.
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: Yeah, but that's a that's a that I mean, I
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: know we went to Bill already. But that's another great
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: question for Bill. Are these JD's memoirs? Are we living
- 1:11:20Speaker 2: in present time when we watch the show? You know
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: what I mean? Is this something that took place in
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: the past.
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: We'll ask him, go ahead and ask him Beforeally Donald.
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: We can do a two biller.
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: Bill, is scrubs JD's memoirs? Is Is it like a
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: bunch of stories that JD has compiled in a bunch
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: of books or is this are we living in the
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: moment from moment to moment?
- 1:11:43Speaker 7: When?
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: Yeah, because we're seeing in this episode, Bill that JD's
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: writing a journal and voiceover goes right in the journal?
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: Was this a doogie howser moment?
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: Bill?
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: When do do do?
- 1:11:52Speaker 4: Do?
- 1:11:53Speaker 7: Do? Do?
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: Do?
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: Do? Ahead?
- 1:12:02Speaker 14: The voiceover originally was conceived as you know, JD keeping
- 1:12:10Speaker 14: stuff in his journals, but we ditched that and just
- 1:12:13Speaker 14: kind of made it people just go with it. We
- 1:12:15Speaker 14: made it an omniscient voice over, you know, because we
- 1:12:18Speaker 14: were always caught in his head and his thoughts.
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: And people just go with it.
- 1:12:22Speaker 14: The same way on Modern Family, and no one ever
- 1:12:24Speaker 14: seemed to ask who was interviewing that family and who
- 1:12:27Speaker 14: was doing that documentary?
- 1:12:30Speaker 7: You know that's it.
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: Okay, we're gonna go to commercial. Everybody, and thank you
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: so much for listening. Thank you for being our listeners.
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: Our friends are our compatriots, and we're gonna be right
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: back with a question from.
- 1:12:43Speaker 10: And we are bad, and We're bad.
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: We had Brendan Fraser on the episode.
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: Pronunciation of Fraser. You didn't mess it up for the
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: first time.
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: We have Alex and what's your dad's name? Cory, Alex
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: and Corey. You are now on the show from different locations.
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: Okay, welcome to fake doctors, real friends. We're so happy
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: that you're here.
- 1:13:20Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 1:13:20Speaker 2: We're thrilled to be on with you.
- 1:13:22Speaker 7: Guys.
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: Oh, thank you. We tell us about yourselves. We just
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: heard a little bit our producer Joelle said that you're
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: you've been watching the show in Quarantine and you're not
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: in You're in different locations, So tell us what's going on.
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: And I see Corey has a piano right next to him.
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: Corey, Corey, are you a piano player? Are you a piano?
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: Are you going to play us a little something?
- 1:13:41Speaker 15: I don't think so.
- 1:13:42Speaker 9: But I'm a piano teacher mostly okay, but I've been
- 1:13:45Speaker 9: I'm a composer and a piano teacher. So that's since
- 1:13:49Speaker 9: I can't give lessons in my living room on my
- 1:13:51Speaker 9: grand piano, I have to give him in my office
- 1:13:53Speaker 9: on my electronic piano over zoomt it.
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: I truly wish you knew the theme song to our
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: rewatch show.
- 1:14:01Speaker 15: I love the themes on to your Rewatch show.
- 1:14:04Speaker 9: I think you guys did a fantastic job singing it.
- 1:14:08Speaker 9: Thank you, you're really fantastic. I'm not so crazy about
- 1:14:11Speaker 9: the count in, but you.
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: Know you don't like saying we're off tempo, Corey.
- 1:14:17Speaker 9: No, I'm saying that you're covering up the first couple
- 1:14:19Speaker 9: of words because there's a there's a there's a pick up.
- 1:14:22Speaker 9: You know, there's a story. So you say five six seven,
- 1:14:26Speaker 9: seven eight, there's a story. It's kind of covering, but
- 1:14:29Speaker 9: you know it's a it's a stick now, and so
- 1:14:32Speaker 9: there's there's no way you can.
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: Change it from here. You know what, I'm gonna change
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: it when we finished this, when we finished this, I'm
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: gonna change it just for you, just for this, just
- 1:14:39Speaker 2: for this podcast.
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: I never imagine we're gonna go one two one, no, no, no, you.
- 1:14:45Speaker 9: Want to go five six seven there's a story.
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: Right, I can go A five, A six, A five six.
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: You can do that, I said, I no offense, Corey,
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: but I think the fans will revolt because they really
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: loved five six, seven eight.
- 1:15:01Speaker 15: They do. They love everybody's Yeah.
- 1:15:03Speaker 9: So, like I said, it's it's probably ingrained and there's
- 1:15:05Speaker 9: not something du about it, but it's it's just every
- 1:15:07Speaker 9: time that habits, it just kind of bothers.
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: It irks you. All Right, Well, I'm sorry, Donald. I'm
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: doing it for you. I'm doing it for you, Cory, Corey,
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: tell us how you and Alex started watching the show,
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: and was this your first time through? Alex, why don't
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: you tell us since Corey's getting all the screen time. Yeah, no,
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: it's it's okay.
- 1:15:23Speaker 12: I I mean, the reason why I wanted us to
- 1:15:25Speaker 12: come on is because Father's Day come is coming up,
- 1:15:27Speaker 12: and I said, her dad for a gift, come on
- 1:15:30Speaker 12: the show.
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: But so I don't have to pay for anything. I
- 1:15:33Speaker 2: see how you do it.
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: I see how she's get a car.
- 1:15:37Speaker 12: I'm the favorite daughter. Now here we go. No, So
- 1:15:44Speaker 12: I think I can't remember who started watching the show first,
- 1:15:46Speaker 12: if it was my dad or myself. This is not
- 1:15:49Speaker 12: our first time in Quarantine. I would say I've seen
- 1:15:51Speaker 12: every episode of the show multiple multiple times, and I
- 1:15:54Speaker 12: think the same as for my dad. But we really
- 1:15:56Speaker 12: bonded over our love of the show. I think we
- 1:15:58Speaker 12: watched it separately and then came together and realized we
- 1:16:01Speaker 12: were both watching it. And we like quiz each other
- 1:16:04Speaker 12: on Little Scrubs Gervia Facts a lot, and it's just
- 1:16:07Speaker 12: something that we've really bonded over. Is our love for
- 1:16:10Speaker 12: the show.
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: For you guys, we love that, we love families that
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: watch together. And you know, also people finding it. What's
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: been crazy about this new era of streaming. You know,
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: the show used to be on Netflix, now it's on Hulu.
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: Is that more generations keep finding it And I think
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: that's really that's really cool. It kind of keeps on going.
- 1:16:26Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, I don't know if I watched it when
- 1:16:30Speaker 9: it first came on.
- 1:16:31Speaker 15: What year was the first season?
- 1:16:32Speaker 7: Do you know what?
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: Two thousand and one, one, two thousand and one, I.
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: Was gonna say, nineteen ninety nine.
- 1:16:38Speaker 9: No, I don't know, but but I do own the
- 1:16:41Speaker 9: complete collection of DVDs, So I'm hoping that you guys
- 1:16:44Speaker 9: got a little bit of money for me purchasing that way.
- 1:16:46Speaker 2: It's a sore subject. It's a sore subject, but we
- 1:16:48Speaker 2: don't talk about it.
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: Well, well, we don't talk about that, but I can
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: tell you that you're if you listen to DVDs, you'll
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: have all the exact real music. You won't have any
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: weird You're the only people with DVDs are the ones
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: with no musical replace.
- 1:17:01Speaker 15: It was a it was a real good purchase for me.
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: Great, Thank you so much. All Right, do you guys
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: have a question for for Donald or for I or for.
- 1:17:09Speaker 15: Going to go first?
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: I'm gonna go first.
- 1:17:12Speaker 12: Well, let me just start by saying, I'm I'm so
- 1:17:14Speaker 12: thrilled to be here you guys, I am, I am shaking,
- 1:17:16Speaker 12: I'm like very excited, very I know huge fans of you, guys.
- 1:17:22Speaker 5: Donald.
- 1:17:22Speaker 12: I just have to mention that last night my fiance
- 1:17:25Speaker 12: and I rewatched my favorite of your movies, I think,
- 1:17:28Speaker 12: which is Remember the Titans.
- 1:17:31Speaker 2: Yes, okay, yes, thank you, thank you. You know what
- 1:17:34Speaker 2: you know who has never seen Remember the Titans. It's
- 1:17:39Speaker 2: Zach Brath.
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: Well, I'm gonna watch.
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: We had a conversation at them. Thank you for bringing
- 1:17:44Speaker 2: this up out. We had a conversation thank you. We
- 1:17:47Speaker 2: had a conversation at the beginning of this episode, and
- 1:17:50Speaker 2: Zach's like, it's on my to do list. It's on
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: my to do list. Listen, man, I've seen every one
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: of his projects, even the ones that didn't come out
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: in theaters, even the ones that went straight to video.
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: I've seen everything that Zach Braff has been in. I
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: can count them all on this hand right here.
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: All of them. I thought it was about sports players,
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: and I didn't think that I would like it. But
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: I love Donald, I love Denzel, and I love Rudy.
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: So if it's anything like Rudy.
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: Do you like Ryan Gosling?
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: Yes, I think he's wonderful.
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: He's in it.
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: Yeah, do you like it?
- 1:18:21Speaker 2: What Harris?
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: I think of it. I think of it as Rudy's
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: in it. I feel like it's Rudy with Donald Fazon.
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: Is that? Is it like that?
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: No, it's not the Are you the Rudy? And freaking
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: are you the Rudy? Because if so, I'm fucking watching
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: that ship tonight.
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: I have a Rudy moment. I have a Rudy moment.
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: Watch the damn movie.
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: Okay, don't run for it, all right, let's just put
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: it up.
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: Let's just put it like this. Let's put it like this.
- 1:18:43Speaker 2: Let's put it like this. Ryan Gosling is fing up
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: the whole time and I save his ass. Let's just
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: put it that way.
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: Okay, I'm gonna think about it, all right, go ahead,
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: all right.
- 1:18:57Speaker 12: All right.
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: So, like my question is, thank you for watching Alex
- 1:19:00Speaker 2: of course, of course.
- 1:19:01Speaker 12: So one of the things that's just so incredible about
- 1:19:04Speaker 12: the show in general is the way that you can
- 1:19:07Speaker 12: mix the comedy and the silliness of the show with
- 1:19:09Speaker 12: some of these like more dramatic or serious moments that
- 1:19:12Speaker 12: sort of center around the theme of loss. Right, And
- 1:19:14Speaker 12: I know you just had Brendan Fraser on and that's
- 1:19:16Speaker 12: a really big sort of plot point in the show
- 1:19:20Speaker 12: for Doctor Cox, but of course with the loss of
- 1:19:22Speaker 12: John Ritter too. So I'm wondering if you guys could
- 1:19:24Speaker 12: talk a little bit about what it was like to
- 1:19:25Speaker 12: go through the experience of acting on a really highly
- 1:19:28Speaker 12: comedic show and then have to sort of transition to
- 1:19:31Speaker 12: these pretty serious storylines where the characters are experiencing death
- 1:19:35Speaker 12: and loss of some pretty important people in their lives,
- 1:19:38Speaker 12: including patients as well.
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: Well, I'll tell you there were times where I didn't
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: think it was going to work. There were there were
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: plenty of times where I thought, this is like a
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: hairpin turn in a car. How are you going to
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: go from me doing something so silly? And then I
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: walk into this patient's room and I'm just dropping in
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: for this dramatic moment, and I really have to say,
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: it's a testament to the writing and to build He
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: found a way to make it work. I mean, there
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: were only twenty two minutes without commercials, so sometimes you'd
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: read them and go, how can you be in this
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: weird fantasy and then drop in for this moment where
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: we have tears in our eyes. And I think we
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: just always tried to play it real. Obviously, this fantasies
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: were heightened and some of the physical comedy was heightened,
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: but we always tried to deal with the patient moments
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: like they were completely played straight. And I think of
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: the show Mash a lot, because when I grew up,
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: we were watching Mash and it had a laugh track
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: on it. But when they went into the surgical when
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: they were operating on the soldiers, there was no laugh track,
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: even though there'd still be some humor, it was just
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: sort of a choice they made, and I often think
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: of that in scrubs. It was almost like there were
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: moments when the silliness stopped and we just dropped in
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: to play totally straight how a doctor would be with
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: a sick patient. So I don't know, I think, what
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: do you think, Donald? I think it was just a
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: matter of really good writing, to be frank.
- 1:21:00Speaker 2: Absolutely that, and thank goodness that there were you know,
- 1:21:02Speaker 2: that we were able to cut in between scenes and
- 1:21:04Speaker 2: stuff like that. And it wasn't you know, if this
- 1:21:07Speaker 2: were a play or something where there aren't any cuts
- 1:21:11Speaker 2: in it, it would be very You're absolutely right, it'd
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: be very hard to be funny, funny, funny, funny funny
- 1:21:16Speaker 2: and then switch on a you know, turn on a
- 1:21:18Speaker 2: dime and now we're gonna be serious. Thank goodness that
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: we had cuts, you know, and different scenes edited together
- 1:21:25Speaker 2: for that. Uh, this would have been a way more
- 1:21:28Speaker 2: challenging show this if everything was done on one in
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: one take and you having to ride that emotional rollercoaster.
- 1:21:36Speaker 2: I think, you know, as any actor will tell you,
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: those are the most difficult scenes where you're starting off
- 1:21:42Speaker 2: like because usually you work yourself up on days when
- 1:21:44Speaker 2: I have like a dramatic scene, I'll work myself up
- 1:21:47Speaker 2: and I'll get to the point where you know, I'm
- 1:21:49Speaker 2: on the verge of crying. And so now I don't
- 1:21:51Speaker 2: have to act that much to get to the tears.
- 1:21:55Speaker 2: If I had to be funny and laugh and joke
- 1:21:58Speaker 2: around and everything like that and then move into the
- 1:22:02Speaker 2: dramatic and uh, the sadder side of the scene without
- 1:22:06Speaker 2: a cut, I don't know how I would be able
- 1:22:09Speaker 2: to do it. It would be such a challenge for me.
- 1:22:11Speaker 2: So thank goodness for uh the takes and editing.
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: Also, it all comes down to good writing. I mean,
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: you can make you can.
- 1:22:19Speaker 7: You know.
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: There's a movie Once I really love. I don't know
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: if you have ever seen.
- 1:22:24Speaker 2: Yeah, great movie.
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: But one thing about Once is like Once is the
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: ultimate example of like, if you have a great script,
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: you don't need that movie. That movie looks like it's
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: shot on an iPhone. No disrespect to the cinematographer. I
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: mean it's brilliant. But I mean if if you have
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: a great script and great actors, you can you can
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: make anything, anything work, and uh, and uh, you know
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: it's all, it's all. It all comes down to great writing.
- 1:22:48Speaker 7: Is that?
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: Thank you?
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: Falling slowly love that movie check out once I suffered.
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: We have a lot of a lot of movie recommendations.
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: Quiet American once and remember the Titans. All right, Corey,
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: do you have a question for the legendary Donald Faison?
- 1:23:09Speaker 2: Where's Zach Braf? I do so for me.
- 1:23:13Speaker 9: I love the fantasy sequences in the show. I mean,
- 1:23:16Speaker 9: right from the beginning there were such funny you know,
- 1:23:19Speaker 9: And I think my two favorite ones are when the
- 1:23:23Speaker 9: character Alex you know, says, how would you feel if
- 1:23:25Speaker 9: you know I told you I was ready now to
- 1:23:27Speaker 9: have sex? And the marching band comes from crashing in
- 1:23:29Speaker 9: your other the monkey.
- 1:23:31Speaker 15: And the monkey with the cymbols, Oh my god.
- 1:23:34Speaker 9: And I also love memorable it's in later seasons when uh,
- 1:23:38Speaker 9: somebody is trying to teach Elliott and Tasty Como wife
- 1:23:43Speaker 9: a dance.
- 1:23:44Speaker 15: I get Alex told.
- 1:23:45Speaker 9: Me it was the rewind dance, then therun oh man.
- 1:23:49Speaker 15: And Elliott is so bad bad dead dance.
- 1:23:53Speaker 9: She does such a fantastic job of being horrible at that,
- 1:23:56Speaker 9: flapping her hands and kicking her leg at the wrong time.
- 1:24:00Speaker 15: Oh, very funny.
- 1:24:01Speaker 9: Anyway, So I was just thinking about I wonder if
- 1:24:03Speaker 9: there were any fantasy scenes that were like pitched or
- 1:24:07Speaker 9: written or even filmed that just didn't make it into
- 1:24:10Speaker 9: the show that you remember. It's probably pretty tough. It's
- 1:24:14Speaker 9: been a long time.
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: That's a very good question. I don't know, Donalds, you know,
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: that might have to be our third ask Bill.
- 1:24:20Speaker 2: I think we're gonna have to ask Bill a third
- 1:24:22Speaker 2: time on this.
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: This is like you know that show Millionaire when you
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: get we should you should only be allowed a certain
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: amount of like ask a friend, call a friend at
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: all of the audience like, oh, I.
- 1:24:32Speaker 15: Think you're okay. I would give you a passing calling
- 1:24:35Speaker 15: Bill all right.
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: So we're gonna ask Bill a third time. I hope
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: you can squeeze in a third one. Were there any
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: fantasy's Bill that that that didn't make the cut? Do
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: you have any memory of of anything we shot in
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: a wacky fantasy that was never in the show.
- 1:24:50Speaker 14: You guys are watching these shows again. I can't remember
- 1:24:52Speaker 14: any I'm so old. I can't remember any fantasy scenes
- 1:24:56Speaker 14: that were cut, except one that Gaby Allen always wanted
- 1:24:59Speaker 14: to do a fantasy about Newsy's you know, Extraxter read
- 1:25:02Speaker 14: all about it, and I think we shot that and
- 1:25:04Speaker 14: cut it because no one understood it that wasn't a
- 1:25:06Speaker 14: huge fan of musical theater.
- 1:25:08Speaker 2: Uh, miss you guys, love.
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: You both, Thank you, Bill. I don't one thing. You know,
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: Often the fantasies took a lot of time and money. Yeah,
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: so I feel like they were rarely cut because it
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: was kind of where budget was getting thrown.
- 1:25:22Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: Sometimes they would be really elaborate and take a lot
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: of time and money. So usually they probably wouldn't be
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: unless something went wrong with them and they weren't funny.
- 1:25:30Speaker 9: And I could see that some of them took a
- 1:25:33Speaker 9: long time to make and it was like eight seconds.
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that's all.
- 1:25:36Speaker 15: It was just eight seconds, but you had to spend
- 1:25:38Speaker 15: all day at bakeup.
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Some of them were so elaborate
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: and they would take forever to do and then it'd
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: be really quick.
- 1:25:45Speaker 9: But they're just the laugh out loud parts of the show.
- 1:25:47Speaker 9: And I love a TV show that just makes me
- 1:25:49Speaker 9: laugh out loud but also has that serious. All my
- 1:25:52Speaker 9: favorite shows have that the.
- 1:25:54Speaker 15: Laugh out loud.
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: What are some of your other shows that you love, well, Freaks.
- 1:25:56Speaker 9: And Geeks is probably one of my favorite shows.
- 1:25:58Speaker 2: Yeah, great show.
- 1:26:00Speaker 15: Yeah, and also Gilmore Girls.
- 1:26:02Speaker 2: Is that way too.
- 1:26:04Speaker 9: They dealt very serious subjects, but there's some really good,
- 1:26:06Speaker 9: laugh out loud stuff on that.
- 1:26:08Speaker 7: For that show.
- 1:26:09Speaker 2: They talk really fast on Gilmore Girls.
- 1:26:11Speaker 15: They love it.
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: They're both there incredibly witty. All right, well, thank you guys.
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: You're our very first father daughter Colin and and and
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: we're very we're very happy that you guys are bonding
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: through our show.
- 1:26:27Speaker 2: Because ladies and gentlemen give him a big round up.
- 1:26:31Speaker 2: Applause for Alex and cor Oh my.
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: God, Oprah does not sound like that. You sound like
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: Oprah on fucking crack right now.
- 1:26:38Speaker 2: No, I don't sound like Oprah on crack.
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: I sound like if Oprah took a fucking hit, a
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: crack rock.
- 1:26:47Speaker 2: All right, you guys, thank you, thank you, Thank.
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: You God making us argue in front of all the guests.
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: We argued in front of Corey and Alex, We argued
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: in front of Brendan. The hell's wrong with you.
- 1:26:59Speaker 2: I'm trying to see what it sounds like. I'm trying
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: to in my head if Oprah did crack?
- 1:27:04Speaker 8: How like.
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: Sounds like that?
- 1:27:08Speaker 2: Although listen, there's one commercial and Oprah got it right. Well,
- 1:27:13Speaker 2: she gets a lot of things right, but it's one
- 1:27:15Speaker 2: of them weight Watchers commercial. It's my favorite commercial ever.
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: It's your favorite commercial ever. It's an Oprah week.
- 1:27:21Speaker 2: Yeah, because she starts off like this, This is the
- 1:27:24Speaker 2: joy for me. I love bread, my favorite commercial. Dude. Yeah,
- 1:27:36Speaker 2: but who doesn't listen. I spent a lot of time
- 1:27:39Speaker 2: in quarantine.
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: Yeah, you love bread.
- 1:27:41Speaker 2: You know what I love more than anything? Right now,
- 1:27:43Speaker 2: I'm noticing bread. I love bread.
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: I love bread.
- 1:27:51Speaker 2: She doesn't do it like that. She goes down with it.
- 1:27:53Speaker 2: It's not bread, it's bread.
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: All right, Thank you everybody for tuning in. We've done it.
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: We went through the show. We had wonderful guests.
- 1:28:04Speaker 2: What I have one thing Underdog, great song at the
- 1:28:06Speaker 2: end of the show one Ted's band that's on their record,
- 1:28:10Speaker 2: also Underdog. And then I feel like we tied the
- 1:28:14Speaker 2: story up really quick in this episode. You know what
- 1:28:17Speaker 2: I mean. I think we've ran out of time. To
- 1:28:19Speaker 2: be honest with you, it feels like we've ran out
- 1:28:21Speaker 2: of time on this episode. At the end of the episode,
- 1:28:25Speaker 2: things tie up really quick. We don't even go through
- 1:28:27Speaker 2: the whole chemo process with Brenda's character. We go right
- 1:28:31Speaker 2: into oh, you know what, chemo worked, and it went
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: right and the cancer went into remission. Yeah, it feels
- 1:28:37Speaker 2: like we had to tidy up a little bit so
- 1:28:40Speaker 2: we could move on with the story.
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: It's a lot, it's a lot. It's a lot too.
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: First of all, he was only signed on for two
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: episodes of this and you know it's twenty two minutes

- 1:29:22Speaker 1: People are gonna think you have a hang up about it.
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: They're gonna be like, I don't want to follow that dude.

- 1:29:29Speaker 2: Well, would you know if those are people out there
