March 17 - Wisdom Begins with Listening · Bible Chat Devotional

• 0:02
Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
• 0:06
rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, March 17th.
• 0:12
Wisdom versus impulse. There's a big difference between
• 0:15
confidence and wisdom. Confidence says I have got this.
• 0:19
Wisdom says, Lord guide me. Confidence can move fast, speak
• 0:23
fast, and decide fast. Wisdom knows when to pause,
• 0:27
listen, and receive counsel. And in a world that celebrates
• 0:31
instant reactions and quick opinions, learning to slow down
• 0:35
and seek God is one of the strongest things you can do.
• 0:39
Proverbs chapter 12 verse 15 says the way of a fool is right
• 0:43
in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advice.
• 0:47
That verse is simple, but it goes straight to the heart.
• 0:50
One of the easiest traps to fall into is assuming that because
• 0:53
something feels right to us, it must be right.
• 0:56
But feelings can be loud without being true.
• 0:59
Impulse can feel strong without being wise.
• 1:03
Then Psalm chapter 33 verse 6 says by the word of the Lord,
• 1:07
the heavens were made. The God who spoke the universe
• 1:10
into existence is not lacking wisdom for your situation.
• 1:14
He is not guessing about your future And Job.
• 1:17
Chapters 36 to 37 remind us that God is mighty in strength and
• 1:21
wisdom. His power is seen in creation,
• 1:24
in storms, in the sky, in things far bigger than us.
• 1:29
He understands what we cannot. That should humble us, but it
• 1:32
should also comfort us. You do not have to figure
• 1:35
everything out alone. You do not have to trust every
• 1:38
first reaction or every strong emotion.
• 1:41
When you pause to pray, seek wise counsel, and listen before
• 1:45
acting, you are not being weak. You are making room for God's
• 1:49
wisdom to shape your choices. Maybe there is an area of your
• 1:52
life where you have been reacting instead of reflecting.
• 1:55
  A friendship, a decision, a relationship, a habit, a
• 2:00
frustration. God is able to guide you there.
• 2:04
He often leads through His Word, through peace that grows in
• 2:06
prayer, and through wise voices He has placed around you.
• 2:10
Wisdom is not flashy, but it is steady.
• 2:13
It protects you from regret and leads you toward life.
• 2:16
Let today be a reminder that listening is not losing control.
• 2:20
It is choosing a better guide. Let's pray.
• 2:23
Heavenly Father, thank You for being full of wisdom and power.
• 2:27
Forgive me for the times I rely only on myself and rush ahead
• 2:30
without seeking You. Help me to pause, listen, and
• 2:34
receive wise counsel. Lead my decisions, guard me from
• 2:38
impulse, and teach me to trust Your voice above my own
• 2:40
  understanding. In Jesus name, Amen.
• 2:45
What if the most important question in your life deserves
• 2:47
more than a shallow answer? Does God Exist is a powerful,
• 2:51
thought provoking series that explores reality, meaning, and
• 2:54
truth through reason, evidence, human experience, and scripture

• 3:05
existence itself and asks why anything exists at all.
• 3:08
Book 2, The Cause behind the Cosmos, examines the origin of
• 3:12
the universe and whether it points beyond itself.
• 3:15
Book 3, Design or Accident, wrestles with order and
• 3:18
complexity. Are they products of chance or
• 3:20
intelligence? Book 4, The Moral Signature,
• 3:23
explores why objective right and wrong may require a source
• 3:27
beyond human opinion. Book 5, The God We Cannot

• 3:33
persistent awareness of God. Book 6, From Reason to
• 3:36

And Book 7, Denying God, examines the internal tensions

Proverbs Chapter 12 Verse 15 World English Bible The way of a
• 4:15
fool is right in his own eyes, but he who is wise listens to
• 4:18
counsel. Psalm Chapter 33 World English
• 4:22
Bible Rejoice in Yahweh you righteous praise is fitting for
• 4:25
the upright. Give thanks to Yahweh with a
• 4:28
liar. Sing praises to him with the
• 4:30
harp of 10 strings. Sing to him a new song.
• 4:33
Play skillfully with a shout of joy.
• 4:35
For Yahweh's word is right. All His work is done in
• 4:38
  faithfulness. He loves righteousness and
• 4:40
justice. The earth is full of the loving
• 4:43
kindness of Yahweh. By Yahweh's Word the heavens
• 4:46
were made all their army by the breath of His mouth.
• 4:49
He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap.
• 4:52
He lays up the deeps in storehouses.
• 4:55
Let all the earth fear Yahweh. Let all the inhabitants of the
• 4:58
world stand in awe of Him. For He spoke and it was done.
• 5:02
He commanded and it stood firm. Yahweh brings the counsel of the
• 5:05
nations to nothing. He makes the thoughts of the
• 5:08
peoples to be of no effect. The council of Yahweh stands
• 5:11
fast forever the thoughts of His heart to all generations.
• 5:15
Blessed is the nation whose God is Yahweh, the people whom He
• 5:18
has chosen for His own inheritance.
• 5:20
Yahweh looks from heaven. He sees all the sons of men from
• 5:24
the place of His habitation. He looks out on all the
• 5:27
inhabitants of the earth, He who fashions all of their hearts,
• 5:31
and He considers all of their works.
• 5:33
There is no king saved by the multitude of an army.
• 5:36
A mighty man is not delivered by great strength.
• 5:39
A horse is a vain thing for safety, neither does He deliver
• 5:42
any by His great power. Behold, Yahweh's eye is on those
• 5:46
who fear Him, on those who hope in His loving kindness to
• 5:50
deliver their soul from death to keep them alive in famine.
• 5:53
Our soul has waited for Yahweh. He is our help and our shield,
• 5:57
for our heart rejoices in Him because we have trusted in His
• 6:00
holy name. Let your loving kindness be on
• 6:03
us Yahweh, since we have hoped in You.
• 6:05
Job chapters 36 to 37 World English Bible.
• 6:09
Elihu also continued and said, Bear with me a little and I will
• 6:13
show you, for I still have something to say on God's
• 6:16
behalf. I will get my knowledge from
• 6:18
afar and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker, for
• 6:21
truly my words are not false. One who is perfect in knowledge
• 6:25
is with you. Behold, God is mighty and
• 6:27
doesn't despise anyone. He is mighty in strength of
• 6:30
understanding. He doesn't preserve the life of
• 6:33
the wicked, but gives justice to the afflicted.
• 6:36
He doesn't withdraw his eyes from the righteous, but with
• 6:38
kings on the throne He sets them forever and they are exalted.
• 6:42
If they are bound in fetters and are taken in the cords of
• 6:45
afflictions. Then He shows them their work
• 6:48
and their transgressions, that they have behaved themselves
• 6:51
proudly. He also opens their ears to
• 6:53
instruction and commands that they return from iniquity.
• 6:57
If they listen and serve Him, they will spend their days in
• 7:00
prosperity and their years in pleasures.
• 7:03
But if they don't listen, they will perish by the sword.
• 7:06
They will die without knowledge. But those who are godless in
• 7:09
heart lay up anger. They don't cry for help When He
• 7:11
binds them, they die in youth. Their life perishes among the
• 7:15
unclean. He delivers the afflicted by
• 7:17
their affliction and opens their ear in oppression.
• 7:21
Yes, He would have allured you out of distress into a wide
• 7:24
place where there is no restriction.
• 7:26
That which is set on your table would be full of fatness, but
• 7:29
you are full of the judgment of the wicked.
• 7:32
Judgment and justice take hold of you.
• 7:34
Don't let riches entice you to wrath, neither let the great
• 7:37
size of a bribe turn you aside. Would your wealth sustain you in
• 7:41
distress, or all the might of your strength?
• 7:43
Don't desire the night when people are cut off in their
• 7:45
  place. Take heed.
• 7:47
Don't regard iniquity, for you have chosen this rather than
• 7:50
affliction. Behold, God is exalted in His
• 7:53
power, who is a teacher like Him, who has prescribed His way
• 7:56
for Him, or who can say you have committed unrighteousness?
• 8:00
Remember that you magnify His work, about which men have sung.
• 8:04
All men have looked on it. Man sees it afar off.
• 8:07
Behold, God is great, and we don't know Him.
• 8:10
The number of His years is unsearchable, for He draws up
• 8:13
the drops of water which distill in rain from his vapor, which
• 8:17
the skies pour down, and which drop on man abundantly.
• 8:20
Indeed, can anyone understand the spreading of the clouds and
• 8:23
the thunderings of His pavilion? Behold, he spreads his light
• 8:26
around him. He covers the bottom of the sea,
• 8:29
for by these he judges the people.
• 8:31
He gives food in abundance. He covers his hands with the
• 8:34
lightning and commands it to strike the mark.
• 8:37
It's noise tells about him and the livestock.
• 8:39
Also concerning the storm that comes up.
• 8:42
Yes. At this my heart trembles and is
• 8:44
moved out of its place. Hear, O hear the noise of his
• 8:48
voice, the sound that goes out of his mouth.
• 8:50
He sends it out under the whole sky, and His lightning to the
• 8:53
ends of the earth after it a voice roars.
• 8:56
He thunders with the voice of His Majesty.
• 8:59
He doesn't hold back anything when His voice is heard.
• 9:01
God thunders marvelously with His voice.
• 9:04
He does great things which we can't comprehend.
• 9:07
For He says to the snow fall on the earth, likewise to the
• 9:10
shower of rain, and to the showers of His mighty rain.
• 9:13
He seals up the hand of every man, that all men who He has
• 9:16
made may know it. Then the animals take cover and
• 9:20
remain in their dens. Out of its room comes the storm
• 9:23
and cold out of the north. By the breath of God, ice is
• 9:26
given, and the width of the waters is frozen.
• 9:29
Yes, he loads the thick cloud with moisture.
• 9:32
He spreads abroad the cloud of His lightning.
• 9:34
It is turned around by His guidance that they may do
• 9:37
whatever He commands them on the surface of the habitable world,
• 9:40
whether it is for correction, or for His land, or for loving
• 9:43
kindness that He causes it to come.
• 9:45
Listen to this Job, stand still and consider the wondrous works
• 9:49
of God. Do you know how God controls
• 9:52
them and causes the lightning of His cloud to shine?
• 9:55
Do you know the workings of the clouds, the wondrous works of
• 9:58
Him who is perfect in knowledge? You whose clothing is warm when
• 10:01
the earth is still by reason of the South wind, Can you with Him
• 10:05
spread out the sky which is strong as a cast metal mirror?
• 10:09
Teach us what we will tell Him, for we can't make our case by
• 10:12
reason of darkness. Will it be told him that I would
• 10:14
speak? Or should a man wish that he
• 10:16
were swallowed up? Now men don't see the light
• 10:19
which is bright in the skies, but the wind passes and clears
• 10:22
them. Out of the north comes golden
• 10:24
splendor. With God is awesome majesty.
• 10:27
We can't reach the Almighty. He is exalted in power,
• 10:30
  injustice, and great righteousness.
• 10:32
He will not oppress. Therefore men Revere Him.
• 10:35
He doesn't regard any who are wise of heart.
