- 1:03Speaker 2: Hello and welcome to Juicy Scoop. I have one of
- 1:06Speaker 2: my dear friends, one of our favorites. He is an
- 1:10Speaker 2: award-winning writer. Around the corner is the EGOT. Am I right, Guy?
- 1:17Speaker 3: Only if we count my Golden Globe as the G.
- 1:19Speaker 2: A lot of people don't know that after Whitney plays
- 1:25Speaker 2: Roxy Hart, Whitney from Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, you
- 1:30Speaker 2: are the next person that is going to be playing
- 1:32Speaker 2: Roxy Hart in Chicago. And so then, yeah, you'll have
- 1:36Speaker 2: an Emmy and a Tony for Roxy Hart. And then
- 1:40Speaker 2: the Oscar is going to be coming around the corner.
- 1:44Speaker 3: We all know how much I love my sound editing. It's,
- 1:47Speaker 3: you know, actor, comedian, sound editor is what you've always
- 1:50Speaker 3: understood me as and really focus on that before.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Okay, I love it. Guy Brown, I'm always so funny.
- 1:58Speaker 2: On a world tour with your one-man show.
- 2:00Speaker 3: But back to the Tony Awards, I just have to ask.
- 2:04Speaker 3: If the offer were out there for you to be O'Mary,
- 2:07Speaker 3: would you do a touring O'Mary? Would you do.
- 2:11Speaker 2: O'Mary is the.
- 2:13Speaker 3: Polar school of show.
- 2:14Speaker 2: About Lincoln being gay and Mary Todd being his wife.
- 2:19Speaker 3: Have you seen it?
- 2:21Speaker 2: I have not, but I kind of tell you about
- 2:23Speaker 2: a night I had with my... sorority sister my big
- 2:27Speaker 2: sis lisa she has a beautiful place in new york
- 2:31Speaker 2: after i performed we went to dinner dr drew and
- 2:35Speaker 2: his wife we came back to her house and that
- 2:37Speaker 2: was the first time i said i believe lincoln was
- 2:42Speaker 2: gay and i gave out all the facts and dr
- 2:45Speaker 2: drew was like what and like first time we'd ever
- 2:48Speaker 2: heard it so then she went to the play and
- 2:50Speaker 2: she was like heather this you know And I know
- 2:54Speaker 2: I wasn't the first person to say this 10 years ago,
- 2:56Speaker 2: but there was overwhelming evidence 10, 15 years ago that
- 3:00Speaker 2: they had, you know, sharing a bed and, you know,
- 3:04Speaker 2: but then they were like, what? It was cold. And,
- 3:06Speaker 2: you know, like, whatever it was. I have to see
- 3:08Speaker 2: it because I.
- 3:09Speaker 3: Heard it's great. It's basically like an amazing episode of
- 3:13Speaker 3: I Love Lucy. You're really going to love it. But yes,
- 3:16Speaker 3: I am taking my show Be Fruitful on tour. I
- 3:20Speaker 3: am going to be in Philadelphia on December 17th, D.C.
- 3:24Speaker 3: on December 18th, and then in Brooklyn on December 19th.
- 3:29Speaker 2: It's fabulous. It's funny. He sings, he dances, he does
- 3:33Speaker 2: costume changes.
- 3:34Speaker 3: I do not.
- 3:34Speaker 2: You're basically Luann de Lesseps. Is this cabaret?
- 3:36Speaker 3: I do not sing, and it is quite explicitly not cabaret.
- 3:40Speaker 2: I did see a costume change in your preview, though.
- 3:44Speaker 3: Yes. I mean, I shouldn't have shown that.
- 3:45Speaker 2: It's a finale moment.
- 3:47Speaker 3: It's supposed to be a secret. But what is the
- 3:50Speaker 3: thing that Sutton does? Not Sutton. The thing that... What's
- 3:55Speaker 3: her name does that's like burlesque and cabaret?
- 3:58Speaker 2: Oh, Sonia Morgan.
- 3:59Speaker 3: Sonia, yes.
- 4:00Speaker 2: No, she does stand-up now.
- 4:02Speaker 3: Oh, really?
- 4:02Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:03Speaker 3: I'm sure she's amazing.
- 4:06Speaker 2: It's all so good. We're going to get into all
- 4:07Speaker 2: of that. Okay. But first, I need to tell you
- 4:11Speaker 2: what is going on since I reported last on the
- 4:16Speaker 2: Diddy Doc by 50 Cent. So, I was explaining a
- 4:20Speaker 2: little to you yesterday. Now, let me explain what happened.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Marlon Wayans.
- 4:24Speaker 3: Uh-huh.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Of the Wayne's fame, white chicks. I've worked with him.
- 4:30Speaker 2: My opinion, delight.
- 4:32Speaker 3: Okay.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Anyway, he was on a podcast radio show. Someone asked him,
- 4:38Speaker 2: what do you think of this? And he basically said,
- 4:42Speaker 2: I mean, the man's doing five years in jail. Why
- 4:44Speaker 2: kick him when you're down 50, you know, karma is
- 4:48Speaker 2: going to get you.
- 4:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:49Speaker 2: But he also, I think said, I haven't watched it.
- 4:53Speaker 2: I don't know if he said that or not, but,
- 4:55Speaker 2: It seemed clear he hadn't watched it.
- 4:56Speaker 3: 50 Cent has been shot multiple times. Has karma already
- 5:00Speaker 3: gotten him?
- 5:04Speaker 2: So true. Okay, so hold that thought because we did
- 5:07Speaker 2: a book sketch. But I want to talk about that.
- 5:10Speaker 2: A book club sketch with 50 back in the day. Okay,
- 5:14Speaker 2: so then 50 comes after him. And 50... uh, Fitty,
- 5:22Speaker 2: you know, writes, shows a photo of him as white
- 5:26Speaker 2: chick and is like, keep your, my mouth, my name
- 5:30Speaker 2: out of your mouth and this and that. And then
- 5:32Speaker 2: Marlon goes and does this 12 years as a slave, uh,
- 5:38Speaker 2: photo of, of 50, um, you know, Photoshopped. This one
- 5:44Speaker 2: in the comments was very poorly received. And that's on
- 5:48Speaker 2: Marlon's page. So those are fans of Marlon being like,
- 5:51Speaker 2: This is not it.
- 5:52Speaker 3: Yes.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Like, this is not it. Why are you defending Diddy? Like, whatever.
- 5:58Speaker 2: And then it keeps going back and forth. And then
- 6:01Speaker 2: Fitty does a post.
- 6:04Speaker 3: It's always rough to be the seventh most talented person
- 6:07Speaker 3: in your family.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Listen. I've worked with them all. And you even said, wait,
- 6:18Speaker 2: are you going to talk about this? Aren't you good friends? Yeah,
- 6:21Speaker 2: I'm good friends with all of them. I've worked on
- 6:23Speaker 2: the movie. I've had this show for more than 10 years.
- 6:26Speaker 2: I've invited every single one of the Wayans brothers that
- 6:29Speaker 2: I worked on White Chicks and the TV shows with
- 6:31Speaker 2: over and over and over again. So, no, you know what?
- 6:34Speaker 2: I will speak about any topic that I find interesting.
- 6:37Speaker 3: Being the seventh most talented person in that family is
- 6:39Speaker 3: very impressive. They're all very good. Have you seen Damon Jr.
- 6:43Speaker 3: do physical comedy? They're all, Kim's amazing. Like they're all great.
- 6:48Speaker 2: And they're all lovely and they have the greatest family.
- 6:51Speaker 2: So this is something that all of us in this
- 6:55Speaker 2: world have gotten caught up in when you could have
- 6:59Speaker 2: just written Fiddy and said, hey, I haven't seen the doc.
- 7:05Speaker 2: I was merely answering a question. Let's stop it here.
- 7:08Speaker 2: But then the other side is, by doing this, now
- 7:11Speaker 2: we're talking about you.
- 7:12Speaker 3: Yes.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Marlon has stand-up gigs. You know, this is all... You know,
- 7:17Speaker 2: there's no bad publicity, whatever. But they keep going back.
- 7:23Speaker 2: And in my opinion, the majority is on Fiddy's side
- 7:27Speaker 2: because they're thinking somehow he's defending P. Diddy or minimizing it.
- 7:32Speaker 2: So then Fiddy... goes and pulls up videos and puts
- 7:36Speaker 2: it on his Instagram of Marlon talking highly of P. Diddy, saying,
- 7:41Speaker 2: I went to all these parties, yet I never saw
- 7:44Speaker 2: any of the freaky stuff. And then he takes another
- 7:49Speaker 2: clip of a movie that Marlon did that was a
- 7:52Speaker 2: parody of Haunted House, where he wakes up and it's
- 7:56Speaker 2: like he was effed in the butt or whatever. So
- 7:59Speaker 2: he's acting like that.
- 8:01Speaker 3: Yes.
- 8:01Speaker 2: So they're both... Then Marlon shows a photo of Fitty
- 8:08Speaker 2: and Sean Puffy Combs in a jacuzzi together, but could
- 8:12Speaker 2: also look like two dads in a jacuzzi together after
- 8:14Speaker 2: a golf game. They're just like sitting there, but still.
- 8:17Speaker 2: So it's a little jabs at homophobia at both of
- 8:20Speaker 2: them on both sides, which Marlon has, I believe, a
- 8:24Speaker 2: trans child and has spoken very openly in support of Fitty.
- 8:31Speaker 2: gay people and as an ally. But they're both jabbing
- 8:35Speaker 2: at it.
- 8:35Speaker 3: For these, like, Gen X or elder millennial guys, like,
- 8:39Speaker 3: a little homophobia is just, like, part of the game
- 8:42Speaker 3: when insulting each other, and I think it's hard for
- 8:44Speaker 3: them to, like, extract themselves from that. I also think that, like,
- 8:48Speaker 3: Kendrick Lamar... like, won a Pulitzer and then got to be, like,
- 8:53Speaker 3: he did a diss track as the Super Bowl halftime show.
- 8:57Speaker 3: I think that, like, we have really, like, elevated this
- 9:00Speaker 3: sort of, like, diss track-y thing. I do have to wonder,
- 9:02Speaker 3: is the documentary just about the world of hip-hop trying
- 9:06Speaker 3: to EGOT and trying to move out into, like, filmmaking
- 9:09Speaker 3: so you can pick up those Emmys and Oscars? But
- 9:12Speaker 3: I also think that, like, so many people have been
- 9:14Speaker 3: able to elevate their brands off of these things, but also, like,
- 9:19Speaker 3: It's really like, you know, Drake is a tarnished brand
- 9:24Speaker 3: now because of how effectively, like, Kendrick Lamar did his thing. And,
- 9:30Speaker 3: you know, I wonder about this.
- 9:31Speaker 2: And isn't it also the weird Millie Bobby Brown stuff, too,
- 9:34Speaker 2: that Drake was giving her advice and texting her at 12?
- 9:37Speaker 2: I mean, there's a lot of creepiness.
- 9:39Speaker 3: Like, the thing about... I would never do a documentary about,
- 9:44Speaker 3: I went to parties, they weren't that bad. But, like,
- 9:47Speaker 3: the thing is, is, like.
- 9:49Speaker 3: You know, in the 2000s, like, a lot of people
- 9:53Speaker 3: were going to Brett Ratner parties where things were happening.
- 9:56Speaker 3: I definitely went to some gay parties in the 2010s.
- 10:00Speaker 3: 2010s where everything was fine. And then later you found
- 10:05Speaker 3: out that directors were being creepy or whatever.
- 10:09Speaker 2: And I've been guilty of this too.
- 10:10Speaker 3: Yes.
- 10:11Speaker 2: That is why you might have something interesting to say
- 10:14Speaker 2: or a joke or whatever like Marlon did. And he's
- 10:17Speaker 2: an improviser and he was asked. However, if you do
- 10:20Speaker 2: not watch the number one documentary in America and the UK,
- 10:25Speaker 2: which is four parts, maybe make that clear before you
- 10:29Speaker 2: comment on it because it isn't like that. I think
- 10:33Speaker 2: if you watch it, it is four parts and maybe
- 10:36Speaker 2: you're like, like I said on Tuesday, you might be like,
- 10:39Speaker 2: oh my God, I covered the trial. I saw it all.
- 10:42Speaker 2: It's so much better than that because it really... It's
- 10:46Speaker 2: really an understanding of him, Sean Pfeiffer Combs, as a
- 10:51Speaker 2: human being. And that archetype of a person, maybe you
- 10:56Speaker 2: know someone like this. They're not obviously at the puffy
- 10:58Speaker 2: level of crime and manipulation, but they might have a
- 11:01Speaker 2: little bit of that in them.
- 11:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:03Speaker 2: And you're kind of like, oh, wow, that's interesting that
- 11:06Speaker 2: he was raised this way and then went this way
- 11:08Speaker 2: and then put himself in all the music stuff and
- 11:11Speaker 2: was jealous of his artists and then also fucked up
- 11:13Speaker 2: and didn't pay him. So there's so many more than just... Oh,
- 11:17Speaker 2: you know, I went to the party and I participated
- 11:20Speaker 2: and now I'm bitter. It's not that. That's not what
- 11:23Speaker 2: he did. And he produced it and he bought the
- 11:26Speaker 2: footage because he did. He never paid the people that
- 11:30Speaker 2: he hired to film him.
- 11:32Speaker 1: Oh, wow.
- 11:33Speaker 3: That's hilarious.
- 11:33Speaker 2: I mean, he screwed over people for $ 20. He like
- 11:36Speaker 2: didn't just, you know, it wasn't just big things. It
- 11:39Speaker 2: wasn't just him being, you know, violent against women and
- 11:44Speaker 2: men in his life. and saying people it's like so
- 11:47Speaker 2: much worse than that. And so it is very interesting,
- 11:50Speaker 2: but this back and forth, you know, and then Marlon's like, Hey,
- 11:54Speaker 2: and now Marlon spoke this morning and he said, Hey,
- 11:58Speaker 2: I am not supporting P Diddy. I was just saying this,
- 12:02Speaker 2: you know, someone asked me a question. And I get
- 12:04Speaker 2: all that. And it's like, we're just in such a
- 12:07Speaker 2: world now, whether it's people talking about each other on,
- 12:11Speaker 2: I always say there should be a show. I heard
- 12:12Speaker 2: what you said about me on your podcast. Instead of
- 12:14Speaker 2: picking up the phone and talking to someone. And it's
- 12:17Speaker 2: really weird to like your whole life. You know, we
- 12:20Speaker 2: would have to, in my generation, we would have to
- 12:22Speaker 2: do a three-way call if you wanted to hear two
- 12:24Speaker 2: people talk shit about you. Right. Now you can just,
- 12:26Speaker 2: you know, pop it up in your car and listen
- 12:28Speaker 2: to your two best friends for the last 20 years
- 12:30Speaker 2: say that you're not that great.
- 12:32Speaker 3: No, like it's very hard and it's very easy. And these,
- 12:35Speaker 3: like this comment culture, this comment section culture is very real.
- 12:39Speaker 3: I recently was watching some Donna Hughes on YouTube and
- 12:42Speaker 3: it was amazing because like it's back in the 1980s
- 12:45Speaker 3: and everybody is communicating in good faith. People may not
- 12:48Speaker 3: agree with each other, but they're just trying to like
- 12:51Speaker 3: understand each other. And I feel like everyone is now
- 12:54Speaker 3: just really in love with getting mad and, you know,
- 12:58Speaker 3: talking shit at each other.
- 13:00Speaker 2: If you are liking the show, let me know by
- 13:02Speaker 2: actually clicking the like button, subscribe and share with others.
- 13:07Speaker 2: It really makes a difference. And if you want some
- 13:10Speaker 2: of the juiciest stuff, the exclusive stuff, you want to
- 13:12Speaker 2: go to over to my Patreon and you do that
- 13:14Speaker 2: by going to HeatherMcDonald.net, click on Patreon. There is some
- 13:18Speaker 2: juice from this show that we had to cut out
- 13:20Speaker 2: and put over there because it was just too juicy.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:24Speaker 2: And I feel like sometimes with guys and especially comedians
- 13:27Speaker 2: and you have these two strong you know, great personalities, funny,
- 13:31Speaker 2: talented people, 50 Cent and, you know, and Marlon. And
- 13:35Speaker 2: so they're like, I'm not going to apologize. I'm not
- 13:38Speaker 2: going to admit I'm wrong. I'm not going to say, hey,
- 13:40Speaker 2: I should have made it clear I didn't watch it, whatever.
- 13:43Speaker 2: Because now the disses are so bad. So he's like,
- 13:46Speaker 2: I'm going to keep trolling. I'm going to keep trolling.
- 13:48Speaker 2: That's what Marlon says. And then, you know, so it's just.
- 13:52Speaker 3: Patton Oswalt just did the vulture comedy podcast that Jesse
- 13:57Speaker 3: David Fox did. And he did a really hard sort
- 14:01Speaker 3: of like, comedians being raised to like never apologize for
- 14:05Speaker 3: anything is like dumb and wrong and from the past.
- 14:08Speaker 3: And you do have to like understand that like You
- 14:11Speaker 3: should grow. You should grow and be able to look
- 14:13Speaker 3: back at your material and be like, oh, I don't
- 14:16Speaker 3: believe that in the same way that I did before now,
- 14:18Speaker 3: you know?
- 14:19Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, it's interesting that, you know, Marlon isn't
- 14:23Speaker 2: just like trying to clear it up and end it.
- 14:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:26Speaker 2: And he's kind of playing along with it. And because
- 14:29Speaker 2: I remember when my misunderstanding happened with Chelsea and I
- 14:35Speaker 2: didn't have the platform. I did have the podcast and
- 14:37Speaker 2: I did clear it up on my podcast two days
- 14:39Speaker 2: later and I did– apologize and explain that it was
- 14:43Speaker 2: taken out of context. By that time, nobody cares. I
- 14:46Speaker 2: wasn't big enough for them to pick up my side.
- 14:48Speaker 2: So I just had to suffer with like looking like
- 14:50Speaker 2: an ungrateful dork for five years. But I remember I
- 14:54Speaker 2: saw him right after that at a movie premiere of his.
- 14:57Speaker 2: And he was like, what are you doing? you look
- 15:00Speaker 2: bad in this. And I go, I've already apologized, but
- 15:04Speaker 2: I'm not a big enough person to get the press.
- 15:07Speaker 2: So it's like, I'm like, yeah, I'll tell you, you're
- 15:09Speaker 2: not coming off well in this, in my opinion. And
- 15:12Speaker 2: because you're, you know, two 50 plus year old men,
- 15:15Speaker 2: even though they both look great. Yes. And they're so
- 15:18Speaker 2: powerful and they're so rich. And then also, like you said,
- 15:21Speaker 2: it's become this kind of fun culture in hip hop.
- 15:24Speaker 2: They kind of started it. And now everybody does it
- 15:28Speaker 2: a little bit with the back and forth and with
- 15:29Speaker 2: podcasts and Instagram, you can do it. But in the end, yeah,
- 15:36Speaker 2: Sean Combs is a horrible, horrible person. He's just a
- 15:38Speaker 2: horrible person. If you want to believe 40% of the
- 15:42Speaker 2: stuff that's out there, he's still a horrible person. And
- 15:45Speaker 2: I think Marlon's like saying, hey, I didn't defend him.
- 15:50Speaker 2: But again, it got mistrue to mistrue. And now you're
- 15:52Speaker 2: going back and forth a million times.
- 15:54Speaker 3: It's hard because also there's a way that we can
- 15:58Speaker 3: like lionize and romanticize some of the terrible things that happen. Like,
- 16:02Speaker 3: you know, every story about a hip hop mogul dangling
- 16:05Speaker 3: someone outside of a window, you are like, that's juicy. Yeah.
- 16:08Speaker 2: And then it's like, oh, another one that Marlon did
- 16:10Speaker 2: was like showed a photo of Curtis, 50 Cent, like
- 16:14Speaker 2: oiled up with his shirt off. And he's like, looks
- 16:16Speaker 2: like you like the baby oil. I'm like, wait, what
- 16:18Speaker 2: is going like now? So, and then I imagine each
- 16:21Speaker 2: of them, like, are they a alone taking a shit
- 16:24Speaker 2: doing this? Or do they have like five people on
- 16:27Speaker 2: computers pulling up old photos that look that they could
- 16:30Speaker 2: make a funny meme out of to go back at
- 16:33Speaker 2: each other.
- 16:33Speaker 3: I mean, that's interesting because I do think the way
- 16:36Speaker 3: that these sort of like echo chambers of having people
- 16:39Speaker 3: who employ you, Or who are employed by you and who, like,
- 16:42Speaker 3: want to make you happy are coming to you with, like,
- 16:44Speaker 3: we could do this. We could do this.
- 16:45Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 16:46Speaker 3: And it stops you. You know, there's no one there
- 16:48Speaker 3: sort of saying, like, hey, let's de-escalate this.
- 16:50Speaker 2: Yeah. Like, now— yeah, in the past, people, you know, had
- 16:54Speaker 2: a sitcom on ADBC.
- 16:55Speaker 3: Yes.
- 16:55Speaker 2: And they had a bunch of writers, and maybe they, like,
- 16:58Speaker 2: in our day, would maybe pick up a few writers
- 17:00Speaker 2: to help them write the opening monologue for an MTV Awards. Yes.
- 17:03Speaker 2: Now— Everyone just has a bunch of people doing their
- 17:06Speaker 2: social media and what they're, you know? And it's immediate.
- 17:11Speaker 3: But also, there are people who are good at it.
- 17:13Speaker 3: I worked at the VMAs like 10 years ago, and
- 17:18Speaker 3: Nicki Minaj was going to sort of like open beef
- 17:21Speaker 3: with Miley Cyrus there. And just sort of, she had
- 17:24Speaker 3: a team of people around her who were like constantly
- 17:27Speaker 3: strategizing with her. And it was like magnificent to watch.
- 17:30Speaker 3: But also, you see so many people who have been like,
- 17:33Speaker 3: taken down by this beefing, you know?
- 17:35Speaker 2: Nicki Minaj then moved on to Cardi B.
- 17:38Speaker 3: Yes, and like, I think has been damaged by that, right?
- 17:40Speaker 2: Yeah, because Cardi B is better at it.
- 17:43Speaker 3: Yes.
- 17:43Speaker 2: Just like 50 Cent is better at it.
- 17:45Speaker 3: Yes.
- 17:46Speaker 2: Some people, those are your talents. And she would even
- 17:48Speaker 2: say that expression, you know, Michelle Obama expression, when they
- 17:52Speaker 2: go low, we go high. She's like, no, when they
- 17:53Speaker 2: go low, I take them to hell.
- 17:55Speaker 3: Yes.
- 17:55Speaker 2: It's a great... And now people are saying like, yeah,
- 17:58Speaker 2: you know, there's what would Jesus do? And then there's
- 18:01Speaker 2: if you want to be petty and get revenge, what
- 18:02Speaker 2: would 50 Cent do? And like where are you in
- 18:05Speaker 2: your goals here?
- 18:07Speaker 3: I mean make them cry and then see where we
- 18:10Speaker 3: can move forward from there I think isn't– It's the
- 18:12Speaker 3: housewife motto.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Yes.
- 18:15Speaker 2: I love it when housewives are always like, the show
- 18:17Speaker 2: is about conflict and resolution. I'm like, who started that?
- 18:21Speaker 2: That's not what the show is about when I started watching.
- 18:23Speaker 2: It's about women in sky tops with no eyelashes and
- 18:27Speaker 2: thin lips and pre-recession 2007 in their own homes with
- 18:33Speaker 2: their rooster ceramic chickens and Tuscan– and rooster chickens. Yeah,
- 18:40Speaker 2: like those roosters.
- 18:41Speaker 3: It was that. Bethany's one-bedroom apartment.
- 18:44Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what it was. Now the show's like, oh,
- 18:47Speaker 2: they've got to fight and resolve, and the other women
- 18:50Speaker 2: will be like, if you don't accept my apology, what
- 18:52Speaker 2: are you doing? You better accept my apology, otherwise we're
- 18:55Speaker 2: not only going to be in the show together. Well,
- 18:57Speaker 2: then that's not a reality show.
- 18:58Speaker 3: Right.
- 18:59Speaker 2: Because it's like, you know, so anyway, well, this is
- 19:01Speaker 2: a reality show. This is the real house husbands of
- 19:05Speaker 2: hip hop taking the streets. I don't know. But I
- 19:10Speaker 2: hope it doesn't go anywhere weird. Also, Fitty said, showed
- 19:15Speaker 2: a photo of like a funeral arrangement from Pitty. From Pitty.
- 19:21Speaker 3: Yeah, P.
- 19:21Speaker 4: Diddy.
- 19:22Speaker 2: Pitty. From P. Diddy. I'm like, every time I listen
- 19:26Speaker 2: back to these podcasts, I'm like, Did I mix up
- 19:28Speaker 2: Biggie and Diddy and Fitty and I'm hoping I don't. Anyway,
- 19:33Speaker 2: and everyone's like, oh, my God, how did he send
- 19:36Speaker 2: that to you and whatever? And I'm also like, OK,
- 19:39Speaker 2: with all due, this could be from Fitty to himself.
- 19:43Speaker 3: Right.
- 19:43Speaker 2: To keep a narrative of like, oh, he's sending me
- 19:46Speaker 2: funeral flowers. And yeah, I got shot nine times. And yeah,
- 19:49Speaker 2: I'm not afraid. Who the fuck knows what's real or not?
- 19:51Speaker 2: You and I were just talking about these AI videos
- 19:53Speaker 2: that now are so sad because we know that they're
- 19:56Speaker 2: not real.
- 19:56Speaker 3: Yes.
- 19:57Speaker 2: And I was saying, I like videos where a dog
- 20:01Speaker 2: protects a baby from going up the stairs. And now
- 20:04Speaker 2: I'm like, is that even real?
- 20:06Speaker 3: And it also leads us to a world where anytime
- 20:08Speaker 3: people get any information that they don't like, they're like,
- 20:11Speaker 3: that's a false flag. That's this person pretending to do
- 20:14Speaker 3: something to themselves.
- 20:15Speaker 2: That's not my voicemail. Someone AI'd my voice, which is possible.
- 20:19Speaker 3: Yes, but also it's usually not what happens. Like everyone,
- 20:23Speaker 3: I was hacked. Do you remember the glorious age of
- 20:25Speaker 3: I was hacked when people had tweeted something that was dumb?
- 20:31Speaker 2: We have some glorious agents I'm going to ruin. Oh,
- 20:32Speaker 2: speaking of which, going back to 50 here.
- 20:37Speaker 5: Employers, rewarding your staff with vouchers this year? Here's the
- 20:40Speaker 5: good news. With OptionsCard.ie, there's no forms, no uploads, no delays.
- 20:46Speaker 5: Just choose who to reward and how much. OptionsCard handles
- 20:50Speaker 5: the rest. Your team gets one voucher, opening a world
- 20:53Speaker 5: of choice. They can even re-gift some of the value.
- 20:57Speaker 1: One reward, endless choice.
- 20:59Speaker 2: Skip the hassle, reward the easy way. OptionsCard.ie.
- 21:04Speaker 4: I'm Darman, and this is What Happens Next. Each week
- 21:07Speaker 4: on the show, I sit down with extraordinary people who
- 21:10Speaker 4: have faced tremendous setbacks, and yet somehow have found a
- 21:15Speaker 4: way to turn them into their greatest strengths.
- 21:18Speaker 3: Life is one long lesson of chaos.
- 21:21Speaker 2: I'm heading to the Emmys, and I have police complaints
- 21:23Speaker 2: filed against me.
- 21:24Speaker 3: When your free will was about to be taken from you,
- 21:26Speaker 3: what would you do if it was given back?
- 21:29Speaker 4: Where did that need come from where you thought that
- 21:32Speaker 4: you had to succeed in order to feel loved?
- 21:34Speaker 3: He said, I have a work dad. I need a
- 21:36Speaker 3: home dad. What happens next? When I came in, he
- 21:38Speaker 3: started crying.
- 21:39Speaker 4: Everybody in life encounters hardships. What defines them is not
- 21:43Speaker 4: those hard moments that they go through.
- 21:46Speaker 3: It's about what happens next.
- 21:47Speaker 2: I decided to risk it all. I realized how valuable
- 21:50Speaker 2: every day was.
- 21:50Speaker 3: You're worth the work. Listen, Dara, I'm not going to
- 21:53Speaker 3: pull punches.
- 21:54Speaker 2: You can use your voice even if it's shaped.
- 21:56Speaker 4: The stories are different, but the impact is the same.
- 21:59Speaker 4: Only one question matters. What happens next?
- 22:10Speaker 2: So when we were on Chelsea Lately together and they
- 22:12Speaker 2: had their 30-day romance, we decided to do a book
- 22:18Speaker 2: club episode, a book club sketch.
- 22:21Speaker 3: Yes.
- 22:21Speaker 2: Where you were the head of the book club, correct? Yes.
- 22:24Speaker 2: Because you're the smartest one. Lawyer, Berkeley grad. Need I
- 22:29Speaker 2: say more? So anyway, I'm playing myself. But for people
- 22:35Speaker 2: that hated me on Chelsea Lately and After Lately, I
- 22:38Speaker 2: was an exaggerated version of certain traits that I do embody.
- 22:43Speaker 3: Yes.
- 22:44Speaker 2: But to a ridiculous, I'm a fan, I'm a white
- 22:46Speaker 2: girl from the valley, I'm blah, blah, blah. So anyway,
- 22:51Speaker 2: I actually read his book.
- 22:53Speaker 3: Yes. Heather loves a celebrity biography.
- 22:56Speaker 2: I love it. And, you know, it was crazy. Like,
- 22:59Speaker 2: you know, he was selling drugs at like nine. It
- 23:01Speaker 2: was insane.
- 23:02Speaker 3: Right.
- 23:02Speaker 2: And, um, but anyway, so we do this whole, we're
- 23:06Speaker 2: doing this whole thing. And I say to Drake, I go, Drake, uh,
- 23:10Speaker 2: see if there's some, we can find the sketch somewhere. Yes.
- 23:13Speaker 2: Because once the show ended, he hated us all so much.
- 23:16Speaker 2: They just took everything off the internet, which.
- 23:18Speaker 3: We are so lucky for that.
- 23:20Speaker 2: We are grateful for it. God bless the, God bless
- 23:24Speaker 2: the E person that got that order and, and threw
- 23:27Speaker 2: it down a river.
- 23:28Speaker 3: Look, what passed for comedy in 2008 is now a
- 23:29Speaker 3: war crime.
- 23:30Speaker 2: Okay. That is a great line. Guy, you're so smart.
- 23:39Speaker 2: What did you say it again?
- 23:40Speaker 3: What passed for comedy in 2008 is now a war crime.
- 23:44Speaker 2: Brilliance. So, I mean, trust me, we are all better off.
- 23:49Speaker 2: But there are some people that have found sketches of
- 23:53Speaker 2: me or whatever. So we could not find it. But somehow,
- 23:56Speaker 2: Drake found an article written about it.
- 23:58Speaker 3: Oh, wow.
- 23:59Speaker 2: Or something. And it's like, Heather MacDonald acts like she's,
- 24:03Speaker 2: you know, is saying that she's afraid that Chelsea's dating
- 24:05Speaker 2: this guy.
- 24:06Speaker 4: Yes.
- 24:06Speaker 2: And then a book falls on the ground and I
- 24:09Speaker 2: go down like it's a shooting because, and then 50
- 24:13Speaker 2: comes in and was part of the sketch. Yes. And
- 24:16Speaker 2: he's like, why are you afraid, Heather? And I have
- 24:18Speaker 2: to act like I'm afraid of black men. After I've
- 24:22Speaker 2: written White Chicks, been with the Waynes brothers.
- 24:24Speaker 3: Your origin story comes straight through Keenan Ivory Waynes. It's acting, people.
- 24:28Speaker 1: Like, yeah.
- 24:29Speaker 3: And also, like, Part of comedy can be self-parody and, like,
- 24:33Speaker 3: exaggeration and making fun of the things about yourself that
- 24:36Speaker 3: you understand are imperfect.
- 24:37Speaker 2: Right.
- 24:37Speaker 3: And there is a way that, like, I think a
- 24:40Speaker 3: lot of the Gen Z comedy consumers don't understand anything
- 24:45Speaker 3: being dangerous or difficult or a character needing to improve
- 24:49Speaker 3: or anything. Like, it can be really hard.
- 24:52Speaker 4: Like, I.
- 24:53Speaker 3: I've been doing these little videos where I talk about
- 24:55Speaker 3: things that only the old gays remember. And, like, in
- 24:58Speaker 3: one of them, I, like.
- 24:58Speaker 2: Tell me one.
- 24:59Speaker 3: Oh, like, I do.
- 25:01Speaker 2: Since I do identify as an old gay.
- 25:03Speaker 3: No, you 100%. Like, I talked about sharing the bagel boy.
- 25:06Speaker 3: I talked.
- 25:07Speaker 2: Share the bagel boy.
- 25:09Speaker 3: I talked about Rob Lowe's sex tape, that kind of thing.
- 25:12Speaker 2: At the DMC, right?
- 25:13Speaker 3: Yes. But I did one about this very famous drag
- 25:19Speaker 3: race lip sync for your life. And at the beginning,
- 25:21Speaker 3: I sort of emphasized like, oh, Natalie Cole, she's a
- 25:24Speaker 3: middling diva. And oh, Dita Ritz was like a middling
- 25:27Speaker 3: drag queen. And everybody's like, how dare you? And I'm like, babes,
- 25:30Speaker 3: I'm lowering expectations. So that when we get to the climax,
- 25:34Speaker 3: it's amazing. And we realize that celebrating how great Natalie
- 25:37Speaker 3: Cole was was the whole point of this whole thing.
- 25:39Speaker 3: And people are just like, you said something that was
- 25:41Speaker 3: upsetting and wasn't what I wanted you to say. And
- 25:44Speaker 3: so watch to the end and then see maybe if
- 25:47Speaker 3: there was a point to the whole thing. And they're
- 25:50Speaker 3: being shot in that. That's part of 50 Cent's story.
- 25:54Speaker 1: Right.
- 25:54Speaker 2: So we were writing it, having a good time writing it,
- 25:56Speaker 2: and he was Such a great sport and everything. So
- 26:01Speaker 2: I hope that these two can get a cute lunch together.
- 26:04Speaker 3: Yes.
- 26:05Speaker 2: With their bodyguards. And, you know, or do it high on,
- 26:10Speaker 2: go to the Waldorf historian at three o'clock for, for,
- 26:13Speaker 2: for apps.
- 26:14Speaker 3: No, like I like it. Like I think cute lunch
- 26:17Speaker 3: politics needs to be a concept that's out there and
- 26:19Speaker 3: understanding that. Like a half bottle of Sauvignon Blanc can
- 26:23Speaker 3: solve so many problems.
- 26:24Speaker 2: Absolutely. Chinese chicken salad.
- 26:27Speaker 3: Chinese chicken salad.
- 26:28Speaker 2: I love to share. I love to share. I like
- 26:32Speaker 2: between two people, if you're hungry, two apps, one entree.
- 26:36Speaker 3: Oh, wonderful.
- 26:37Speaker 2: Just, it's the way to go, people. Yes. And it
- 26:41Speaker 2: makes it fun and it's very sad when you meet
- 26:43Speaker 2: someone who's like, I'm not into sharing.
- 26:45Speaker 3: Yes.
- 26:46Speaker 2: I just don't go, go by yourself.
- 26:49Speaker 3: Right. But also I think Oh, there was one writer
- 26:52Speaker 3: on my talk show who hated any shared plate situation
- 26:55Speaker 3: and he was very aggressive about it. But I do
- 26:58Speaker 3: think that sharing requires a level of trust.
- 27:02Speaker 2: It is. I survey the room.
- 27:05Speaker 3: Yes.
- 27:05Speaker 2: I went out to dinner last night with... There was
- 27:09Speaker 2: five of us.
- 27:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 27:11Speaker 2: And I said, you know, they know it's what I
- 27:15Speaker 2: like to do.
- 27:15Speaker 4: Yes.
- 27:15Speaker 2: I just look at the menu. I like to get
- 27:17Speaker 2: a variety of things. Yes. A fish, a meat.
- 27:19Speaker 3: Yes.
- 27:20Speaker 2: A salad. And we did pretty well.
- 27:23Speaker 3: Uh-huh.
- 27:24Speaker 2: We did pretty well. I give it my ordering, like
- 27:27Speaker 2: I last night have given about a seven and a half. Uh-huh.
- 27:30Speaker 2: It wasn't a full home run.
- 27:31Speaker 3: There were times in my life when I would be
- 27:33Speaker 3: very reticent. One time I went to this great restaurant
- 27:35Speaker 3: with a bunch of writers from a show. And it
- 27:38Speaker 3: was all of the women from the show. And like
- 27:40Speaker 3: no one ate anything. And I was like so mad.
- 27:42Speaker 3: But now I am at a very middle-aged point in
- 27:44Speaker 3: my life where I will take the last squash blossom,
- 27:46Speaker 3: you know?
- 27:46Speaker 2: I always, I never leave. I used to be like,
- 27:49Speaker 2: how are they letting that last meatball go?
- 27:53Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 27:53Speaker 2: That last appetizer meatball. No way.
- 27:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 27:56Speaker 2: I don't know what it is. My sister and I
- 27:58Speaker 2: have our mother's like voice in our head. Like that's
- 28:01Speaker 2: a good piece of salmon.
- 28:03Speaker 3: Yes.
- 28:04Speaker 2: You can't always get salmon like that. I don't care
- 28:06Speaker 2: if you're full. Shove it down your gullet.
- 28:08Speaker 3: Yes.
- 28:09Speaker 2: But, you know, with everybody being on the shots and stuff,
- 28:11Speaker 2: you just aren't hungry for it. But I still have
- 28:14Speaker 2: the cheap gene.
- 28:15Speaker 3: Yes.
- 28:16Speaker 2: Where I'm saving it for the winter.
- 28:18Speaker 3: Yes.
- 28:19Speaker 2: And I'm like, I don't know when I'm going to
- 28:20Speaker 2: be at a nice restaurant again with a good piece
- 28:22Speaker 2: of fish.
- 28:22Speaker 3: The way that the GLP-1 drugs are changing people's outlooks,
- 28:27Speaker 3: how is this going to affect the supermarkets of Los Angeles?
- 28:30Speaker 3: I'm wondering how are the Las Vegas sports books going
- 28:34Speaker 3: to do When people take their GLP-1 drug and then
- 28:36Speaker 3: they don't feel the need to bet on college sports
- 28:39Speaker 3: as much.
- 28:40Speaker 2: They said it's affecting gambling. Did you hear that?
- 28:42Speaker 3: I did not hear that.
- 28:43Speaker 2: It's affecting choice of drinking as much. There's now specific
- 28:47Speaker 2: GLPs that they're creating just to focus on not wanting
- 28:52Speaker 2: to drink.
- 28:52Speaker 3: Oh, really?
- 28:53Speaker 2: Napa's like, we won't be investing in that stock. And
- 28:57Speaker 2: then there is one for your fat cat.
- 29:00Speaker 3: Oh, wow. That's insane.
- 29:01Speaker 2: And bring out fat drugs for the fat cat.
- 29:06Speaker 3: While we were talking about Chelsea lately, I do just
- 29:08Speaker 3: want to reflect back to you that the times we
- 29:10Speaker 3: spent in the little media center there, just watching a
- 29:14Speaker 3: television show together. I think that we watched the first
- 29:16Speaker 3: Drag Race there. The Handjob TV movie with Jennifer Love Hewitt.
- 29:21Speaker 2: I need to talk about that. First of all, if
- 29:24Speaker 2: you're watching this on YouTube, please subscribe and tell a friend.
- 29:27Speaker 2: But the little media room we're talking about is just insane.
- 29:30Speaker 2: This couch is in one TV. And so sometimes if
- 29:34Speaker 2: we wanted to like make fun of something or we
- 29:36Speaker 2: had a little time like on like a Thursday or Friday,
- 29:38Speaker 2: we had to make fun of it. DVR'd shows.
- 29:41Speaker 3: Yes.
- 29:41Speaker 1: And we.
- 29:41Speaker 2: There was a Lifetime movie about Jennifer Love Hewitt.
- 29:45Speaker 3: Doing.
- 29:47Speaker 2: She was a hooker at a massage place.
- 29:49Speaker 3: Yes.
- 29:50Speaker 2: The client list. And I want to say hooker because
- 29:51Speaker 2: that's what we called him back then.
- 29:52Speaker 3: The client list.
- 29:53Speaker 2: The client list. And we were dying because... They were
- 29:59Speaker 2: doing hand jobs and then what else? And they were
- 30:00Speaker 2: sleeping with them. But then they'd be like, it's better
- 30:03Speaker 2: than waitressing. That's what they would say. And I'm like,
- 30:07Speaker 2: is picking up someone else's eaten plate less or more
- 30:12Speaker 2: offensive than sucking a D of someone you don't know
- 30:16Speaker 2: who's the sheriff down the road? We were like, what
- 30:19Speaker 2: is this show? How is this worse than not?
- 30:22Speaker 3: It was a magnificent show, but also, like there wasn't
- 30:25Speaker 3: enough space for all of us to sit down. So
- 30:27Speaker 3: Heather would usually lay on the ground and then halfway
- 30:30Speaker 3: through be like, someone crack my back.
- 30:32Speaker 2: Yes. I, I have been addicted to cracking my own back,
- 30:36Speaker 2: having people crack my back and cracking others backs. That
- 30:40Speaker 2: has been, Something I've asked Dr. Drew, could this be
- 30:43Speaker 2: an addiction? And he said, well, would you like leave
- 30:45Speaker 2: your family for it? I said no.
- 30:47Speaker 3: Do you think that a GLP-1 drug would reduce your
- 30:50Speaker 3: inclination to crack people's backs or have your back cracked?
- 30:53Speaker 2: It would be good. Because also when I'm tired and
- 30:55Speaker 2: in bed, I like to watch chiropractic cracking videos. As
- 30:59Speaker 2: if somehow I'm getting a weird relief out of watching
- 31:02Speaker 2: the person get cracked.
- 31:04Speaker 3: Okay. I won't go to a chiropractor because it scares
- 31:08Speaker 3: me and I think it's pseudoscience.
- 31:09Speaker 2: I'm going to be the 1.0008 that comes out of quadriplegic.
- 31:13Speaker 3: Except that I love watching chiropractic videos. There's a guy
- 31:17Speaker 3: in Orange County who's amazing.
- 31:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I've been to him.
- 31:19Speaker 3: Yes.
- 31:19Speaker 2: He is good and he did crack myself and I
- 31:21Speaker 2: felt good about it, but I still am just scared
- 31:25Speaker 2: to go back.
- 31:25Speaker 3: But then I need to tell you the one exception
- 31:27Speaker 3: to I will never go to chiropractors. It is a pseudoscience.
- 31:31Speaker 3: There is a chiropractor... there are multiple chiropractor offices in
- 31:35Speaker 3: the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport. And I, it's a doctor's office
- 31:40Speaker 3: in an airport. And I will just be like, I
- 31:43Speaker 3: would never go in Los Angeles, but Oh, I have
- 31:45Speaker 3: a two-hour layover? Yes.
- 31:47Speaker 2: So did you?
- 31:48Speaker 3: Oh, I've done it so many times.
- 31:50Speaker 2: Wait, you get full-blown cracks.
- 31:51Speaker 3: You get full-blown adjustments. Full-blown adjustments.
- 31:55Speaker 2: I'm wet. Oh, my God. I would do it because
- 31:57Speaker 2: when I'm in the airport, I'm like, I'll go to
- 32:00Speaker 2: those other people, those massage people.
- 32:02Speaker 3: Yes.
- 32:02Speaker 2: Like in the chair.
- 32:03Speaker 3: And like, that's fine. That's lovely. But at the Minneapolis-St.
- 32:06Speaker 3: Paul airport, there are multiple locations where you can just
- 32:10Speaker 3: say like, hey, what's going on? Let's do this.
- 32:14Speaker 2: And they don't do it. Obviously, they don't do any
- 32:16Speaker 2: x-rays or anything. They're just like, let me pull your neck.
- 32:19Speaker 3: No, let me pull your neck. And then also, I
- 32:22Speaker 3: was going to Stretch Lab in Los Angeles. There was
- 32:25Speaker 3: a guy who was a student chiropractor who was there
- 32:28Speaker 3: who wouldn't do like neck adjustments and stuff, but he
- 32:30Speaker 3: would do some other like. like chiropractic stuff.
- 32:32Speaker 2: And you'd get some cracks?
- 32:33Speaker 3: I would get some cracks and he doesn't work there
- 32:35Speaker 3: anymore and I'm pretty sure that they fired him for
- 32:38Speaker 3: unlicensed practice.
- 32:39Speaker 2: When I go into a massage place, I say, listen,
- 32:42Speaker 2: I know you're not supposed to, but I like wink.
- 32:44Speaker 3: Yes.
- 32:45Speaker 2: And I'm like, but fucking make it happen.
- 32:48Speaker 3: That's a real happy ending.
- 32:50Speaker 2: That's the only happy.
- 32:51Speaker 1: Ending I want.
- 32:53Speaker 2: Oh my God, amazing.
- 32:54Speaker 3: So funny.
- 32:54Speaker 2: Okay, moving on. Um, Danity Kane reunited, and they're going
- 33:01Speaker 2: to go on the road. And that's Aubrey O'Day's band
- 33:04Speaker 2: that she did from making of the band. And she's
- 33:07Speaker 2: supposed to come on Juicy Scoop. Oh, wow. We did
- 33:09Speaker 2: an event together a little while ago. Obviously, she's in
- 33:13Speaker 2: the doc. It's very sad what she reveals that in
- 33:18Speaker 2: someone else's complaint or whatever. says, I walked into a
- 33:22Speaker 2: room and she was unconscious and being violated.
- 33:26Speaker 3: Oh, wow.
- 33:26Speaker 2: By two men, one being Diddy.
- 33:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:29Speaker 2: And so that's a very disturbing thing. But she's great.
- 33:34Speaker 2: And she was great at this event. She sang and
- 33:36Speaker 2: she was great and she was fun. And hopefully she'll
- 33:40Speaker 2: have time to come on before she goes on tour.
- 33:42Speaker 2: But she's a great personality. Like she's really funny besides
- 33:46Speaker 2: being a great singer. So This could just be the
- 33:48Speaker 2: lemonade that comes after all these years, I really hope.
- 33:51Speaker 3: I mean, for all of time, we have expected that
- 33:55Speaker 3: any woman's path to success is going to have to
- 33:57Speaker 3: negotiate through a bunch of creepiness and a bunch of
- 34:01Speaker 3: predatory behavior. And it's always weird to, like, look back
- 34:05Speaker 3: after social change and just, like, the number of things
- 34:08Speaker 3: that people had to take for granted. I mean, even
- 34:11Speaker 3: when it just comes to, like, having phones thrown at
- 34:14Speaker 3: you when you were an assistant in that kind of
- 34:16Speaker 3: thing back in the 2000s. We all were just like,
- 34:18Speaker 3: that's part of the game. And it really does require
- 34:21Speaker 3: somebody to be like, you know, sexual assault is not
- 34:25Speaker 3: a necessary part of becoming a girl group.
- 34:28Speaker 1: I know.
- 34:29Speaker 2: And I went, I remember the only really offensive thing, well,
- 34:34Speaker 2: there's been a lot, but this one just was strange
- 34:37Speaker 2: because it came from a woman. So after I went,
- 34:40Speaker 2: wrote on the Keenan Ivory Wayans late night talk show
- 34:42Speaker 2: for whatever, six months. And I was only 27. It
- 34:46Speaker 2: was a writer's guild job. So that was pretty good
- 34:49Speaker 2: that I got that. And so I go for some
- 34:51Speaker 2: other meeting. I don't know if it was a casting
- 34:53Speaker 2: or what, but it was a woman and I, and
- 34:55Speaker 2: she was probably like 10 years older than I am,
- 34:57Speaker 2: or maybe a little bit older, but you know, attractive, whatever.
- 34:59Speaker 2: And she's like, wait, what? You were writing for Keenan
- 35:04Speaker 2: Ivory Wayans? And she's like, whose dick did you have
- 35:06Speaker 2: to suck to get that job? And I go, what?
- 35:10Speaker 2: She goes, no, seriously.
- 35:11Speaker 3: Oh, wow.
- 35:12Speaker 2: And I was like, nobody's. Like, nothing. Like, all the,
- 35:16Speaker 2: I've said over and over, all the guys, extremely respectful,
- 35:19Speaker 2: nothing weird ever happened on any of those sets with
- 35:22Speaker 2: me and writing and nothing. And, but also I was like,
- 35:26Speaker 2: does that mean, like, my agent who got me the job? Like,
- 35:29Speaker 2: it was just, it was so diminishing, too.
- 35:32Speaker 3: It's also like, like, let's take a moment to acknowledge
- 35:36Speaker 3: that Keenan Ivory Wines had multiple female writers at a
- 35:39Speaker 3: point in time where having multiple female writers on a
- 35:42Speaker 3: variety show like that was not normal and like that's
- 35:45Speaker 3: very impressive but also this person who's just sort of
- 35:47Speaker 3: reflecting back this idea that like the only way you
- 35:50Speaker 3: could have gotten that job was that and there's that
- 35:53Speaker 3: Ghislaine-y energy of women who were like the way I
- 35:59Speaker 3: can move through this system like if it's going to
- 36:02Speaker 3: be a transactional system I'll you know move people around
- 36:07Speaker 3: and facilitate this stuff, um, you know, uh, to get ahead.
- 36:12Speaker 3: And it's like, it's weird because as somebody who's not,
- 36:16Speaker 3: not directly affected by these things, part of me is like,
- 36:19Speaker 3: that's so sad. That's so horrible. How could people participate
- 36:22Speaker 3: in that? And also acknowledging that like, it was the
- 36:25Speaker 3: only way to move through that system as a woman.
- 36:27Speaker 3: Like you, you like they do, doors were shut and
- 36:32Speaker 3: people were doing things to get through the doors and
- 36:34Speaker 3: they were gross things and i'm not saying they're okay
- 36:37Speaker 3: i'm just sort of saying like well that's that's how
- 36:39Speaker 3: it happened you know yeah i.
- 36:41Speaker 2: Mean wow okay well good for her um kim kardashian
- 36:45Speaker 2: cried on her latest episode of her reality show reflecting
- 36:49Speaker 2: on what she remembers howard stern talking about Her Paris robbery,
- 36:55Speaker 2: because during the season that's up right now, she's actually
- 36:59Speaker 2: going to trial for the men that robbed her that
- 37:01Speaker 2: were actual professional, like older French, like, you know, jewel
- 37:09Speaker 2: thieves and things.
- 37:09Speaker 3: Yes.
- 37:10Speaker 2: And it took a very long time for her for
- 37:12Speaker 2: the trial to come, but it was coming. So she's
- 37:14Speaker 2: reflecting on it. And she's like, I just remember, you know,
- 37:17Speaker 2: Howard Stern mocking it and saying that, you know, it
- 37:20Speaker 2: wasn't real. So then Howard talks about it and is like, well,
- 37:26Speaker 2: luckily this show is taped. So let's just see what
- 37:29Speaker 2: her memory is. You know, is it right? And then
- 37:32Speaker 2: they show him and he, you know, he says that's
- 37:37Speaker 2: what people are saying, that it's not real and everything.
- 37:39Speaker 2: Which I get that. Both of them are right. She
- 37:43Speaker 2: has a right to be hurt by it. He said
- 37:45Speaker 2: what he said.
- 37:46Speaker 3: I mean, it's just such... The Kardashians are such a
- 37:49Speaker 3: weird thing because they have made a huge amount of
- 37:51Speaker 3: money off of being cultural objects, but also how much
- 37:56Speaker 3: are we allowed to say, like, they're not people and
- 37:59Speaker 3: I don't have to worry about their feelings because they
- 38:01Speaker 3: are these things. It's like we're trying to come to
- 38:03Speaker 3: a point where we are more able to acknowledge people's humanity,
- 38:07Speaker 3: but like.
- 38:09Speaker 2: Well, it was a good joke that he said. Robin
- 38:11Speaker 2: Quivers says, she's like reading the thing, the info, and
- 38:14Speaker 2: she says, and, you know, they put her in a
- 38:18Speaker 2: bathtub and they took all her jewels and, you know,
- 38:21Speaker 2: security was with the sisters at a nightclub and there
- 38:23Speaker 2: were no surveillance cameras or whatever that caught anything. And,
- 38:27Speaker 2: you know, he made some joke like, yeah, the one
- 38:30Speaker 2: time that cameras aren't following the Kardashians. And so I
- 38:34Speaker 2: think that's where she... And it's like the way your
- 38:38Speaker 2: memory is, it's not 100% accurate, but it was hurtful.
- 38:42Speaker 3: Well, especially about something traumatic.
- 38:43Speaker 2: Yeah, it was hurtful. So it's like she has a
- 38:45Speaker 2: right to remember it as being hurtful, and it was.
- 38:47Speaker 3: My question is, when will Kim be brought to justice
- 38:51Speaker 3: for the crimes against acting that she is committing on
- 38:53Speaker 3: All's Fair?
- 38:54Speaker 2: Well, since we're going to talk about that, how much
- 38:56Speaker 2: have you watched?
- 38:57Speaker 3: I watched the first episode. I haven't watched any more.
- 39:00Speaker 2: I've watched like the first two and a half and
- 39:02Speaker 2: sort of fell asleep. And I keep telling myself I
- 39:04Speaker 2: need to go back because it is so ridiculous. Like
- 39:07Speaker 2: I might, you know what? I have a fun weekend
- 39:09Speaker 2: plan with attorney Shannon McDonald Goldstein.
- 39:12Speaker 3: Yes.
- 39:12Speaker 2: And we're going to have like sister slumber time in
- 39:15Speaker 2: Laguna for two nights. So I think she's who I
- 39:19Speaker 2: need to watch it with. That's what I'm going to do.
- 39:22Speaker 2: But the acting is like.
- 39:24Speaker 3: I just wish the writing were a little juicier.
- 39:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 39:29Speaker 3: Well, someone.
- 39:30Speaker 2: The writing is so ridiculous and it's so dirty yeah
- 39:33Speaker 2: and it's like you come bucket you know like things like.
- 39:36Speaker 3: That can i tell you a somewhat juicy story yes
- 39:39Speaker 3: please so my my best friend who is a drama
- 39:43Speaker 3: writer was an assistant and a like older respected award-winning
- 39:50Speaker 3: writer who is friends with Ryan Murphy and everything like
- 39:53Speaker 3: that was like hey do you I would love to
- 39:57Speaker 3: work with you on your career would you like to
- 39:59Speaker 3: come to Palm Springs with me and he was like
- 40:01Speaker 3: no I will not go to Palm Springs with you
- 40:03Speaker 3: because he understood what was being offered and then after
- 40:06Speaker 3: this guy had moved along from my friend he moved
- 40:09Speaker 3: along to another guy who said yes and who is
- 40:12Speaker 3: the creator of All's Fair along with him and Ryan
- 40:15Speaker 3: Murphy and was the creator of one season spectacular, Dr. Odyssey.
- 40:20Speaker 3: And it is just like, the question is like, as
- 40:22Speaker 3: we have a larger conversation about, you know, transactional sex
- 40:29Speaker 3: in this business, it is, what do we do about
- 40:32Speaker 3: the people who made it work for them?
- 40:33Speaker 2: And what do we do about the people that are,
- 40:37Speaker 2: open up their phone to the Deadline article and regret
- 40:40Speaker 2: That they didn't hop in their car and go down
- 40:43Speaker 2: the 10 for two hours.
- 40:45Speaker 3: And the thing is, let me say a couple of things.
- 40:48Speaker 3: I don't know that any of this is true. I
- 40:50Speaker 3: am just reporting rumors.
- 40:51Speaker 2: Allegedly.
- 40:51Speaker 3: Allegedly. These are rumors that I have heard. But also,
- 40:55Speaker 3: and more importantly, I'm not criticizing anyone for transactional sex.
- 40:58Speaker 3: I think that that's an important and beautiful part of
- 41:00Speaker 3: the queer community. I just wish that he were a
- 41:02Speaker 3: better writer.
- 41:03Speaker 2: Yeah. Wow. Well, I invite people to my house, which
- 41:09Speaker 2: is basically Palm Springs, and it's not going to help
- 41:13Speaker 2: anyone's career.
- 41:14Speaker 3: Yes.
- 41:15Speaker 2: We are going to go. We are going to get drunk.
- 41:17Speaker 2: We are going to go dance at the nest. We
- 41:19Speaker 2: are going to have a cute lunch on El Paseo,
- 41:22Speaker 2: and we're going to float in the pool and watch
- 41:26Speaker 2: All's Fair on the outdoor TV. That's what's happening at
- 41:28Speaker 2: my house. Just speaking of this, this is kind of funny.
- 41:31Speaker 2: This just came from TMZ. Zach Woods, hilarious rant he did.
- 41:36Speaker 2: All about Quentin Tarantino. Did you see it?
- 41:38Speaker 3: Yes, but he has just been like left and right
- 41:40Speaker 3: killing it. His thing about the Riyadh Comedy Festival was
- 41:43Speaker 3: so funny. I actually saw him. I was at the Americana.
- 41:46Speaker 2: He's a comedian and an actor.
- 41:47Speaker 4: Yes.
- 41:48Speaker 3: Okay. I saw him at the Americana and like he
- 41:50Speaker 3: was coming out of the bathroom and everyone was high-fiving
- 41:53Speaker 3: him because he had just done a video making fun
- 41:55Speaker 3: of the people who were going to the Riyadh Comedy Festival.
- 41:57Speaker 3: So like his Instagram is really the place to be.
- 42:01Speaker 2: So basically Quentin Tarantino went, I believe, on Howard Stern.
- 42:06Speaker 2: And again, minimized Roman Polanski, who was convicted of full essay,
- 42:14Speaker 2: a 13-year-old girl. Yes. And hence why he lives in
- 42:19Speaker 2: Romania or wherever he is. France, I think.
- 42:22Speaker 1: What?
- 42:23Speaker 3: Is he in France?
- 42:24Speaker 2: I don't know. And he basically was like, well, I mean,
- 42:29Speaker 2: it was, yeah, it was consensual, but she was 13.
- 42:32Speaker 2: Whatever he says, he downplayed it somehow. So then he
- 42:35Speaker 2: went off of him and he basically, in my opinion,
- 42:38Speaker 2: without saying P. Diddy, but it reminded me that Quentin
- 42:41Speaker 2: Tarantino is a little P. Diddy-ish in that he puts
- 42:43Speaker 2: himself in his films and nobody wants to see him
- 42:46Speaker 2: in his films and nobody wants to see, you know,
- 42:48Speaker 2: and so he criticizes his looks and stuff. But he's
- 42:50Speaker 2: so eloquent in his snark and his way. It's pretty brilliant.
- 42:56Speaker 3: But I don't understand him coming. What did Paul Dano
- 42:59Speaker 3: do to him? Like, people were saying, like, oh, he
- 43:01Speaker 3: must have just said, Paul Dano must have, like, turned
- 43:03Speaker 3: down one of his movies or something. But him being
- 43:05Speaker 3: so emphatic that Paul Dano is the worst actor working
- 43:08Speaker 3: is just such a.
- 43:09Speaker 2: That's what Quentin Tarantino said?
- 43:10Speaker 3: Yes.
- 43:10Speaker 2: Yes. Yeah, it was weird. It was weird. He's, you know,
- 43:14Speaker 2: people are weird. With everybody on podcasts, everyone is just
- 43:17Speaker 2: getting themselves in trouble.
- 43:19Speaker 3: I didn't hear about the Roman Polanski stuff, and I was, like,
- 43:21Speaker 3: slightly happy. It was like, oh, if Quentin Tarantino is
- 43:23Speaker 3: going to, like, do something stupid, at least this is, like,
- 43:26Speaker 3: him beefing with some, you know, like, some actor and
- 43:30Speaker 3: not him doing something, like, actively terrible and creepy.
- 43:32Speaker 2: I mean, he's... Yes, he's... Maybe that could have been
- 43:36Speaker 2: an older conversation about Roman Polanski.
- 43:39Speaker 4: Yes.
- 43:39Speaker 2: But I just remember it, so I'm just trying to
- 43:42Speaker 2: put it together. Jen Shaw is out of prison. She
- 43:45Speaker 2: was a real housewife of Salt Lake City. She did a...
- 43:48Speaker 2: An elderly scam, a vulnerable people scam, and... Andy Cohen
- 43:54Speaker 2: has emphatically said on his shows she will not be
- 43:58Speaker 2: back on The Housewives. And people are like, my God,
- 44:01Speaker 2: you know, we've had other criminals in The Housewives, multiple arrests, DUIs,
- 44:07Speaker 2: you know, Teresa Giudice, all this other stuff. Why wouldn't
- 44:10Speaker 2: she come back? And people also think it might be
- 44:13Speaker 2: because Andy recently was a victim of a crime.
- 44:16Speaker 3: Oh, what was the crime?
- 44:17Speaker 2: He went on the Today Show to warn people about it.
- 44:20Speaker 2: It was pretty interesting. He lost his bank card. He
- 44:26Speaker 2: got a call saying like, you know, this is the
- 44:29Speaker 2: bank and all the things. But it's so sophisticated now
- 44:36Speaker 2: that even the person then calls back the next day
- 44:38Speaker 2: and says, Just know we would never ask for your
- 44:41Speaker 2: Apple ID, this, that. They did successfully get money out
- 44:45Speaker 2: of his account. And he's like, I've warned my own
- 44:49Speaker 2: parents about this stuff. I feel like how could I
- 44:52Speaker 2: have fallen for it too? But so basically he was like,
- 44:54Speaker 2: if anything ever happens, if your bank ever calls and
- 44:58Speaker 2: you've like lost your account or it's about transferring accounts
- 45:00Speaker 2: or reinstating a card. Just get in your vehicle and
- 45:04Speaker 2: go to your bank. Walk into your bank yourself. And
- 45:07Speaker 2: I thought that was really good advice. Hang up the
- 45:10Speaker 2: phone and go to the bank.
- 45:11Speaker 3: I mean, they are closing all of their local branches, but...
- 45:14Speaker 3: I mean, about this.
- 45:16Speaker 2: I know it is so hard.
- 45:17Speaker 3: There is something different between like, oh, they didn't pay
- 45:20Speaker 3: their taxes or it was something like that. And something
- 45:22Speaker 3: that was like.
- 45:23Speaker 2: Actively, yeah.
- 45:24Speaker 3: Legitimately predatory. And it's like.
- 45:26Speaker 2: And she was.
- 45:27Speaker 3: She was.
- 45:27Speaker 2: I'm not looking to have her come back on anything myself.
- 45:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 45:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 45:31Speaker 3: Look, she was good TV.
- 45:34Speaker 2: I didn't like her screaming and her weirdness, so I
- 45:36Speaker 2: don't miss her on the show. I think the cast
- 45:39Speaker 2: is great right now, so I don't want to see
- 45:40Speaker 2: her back. But she can go on like Traitors or something.
- 45:42Speaker 3: I've only seen half of season one. It gets better.
- 45:47Speaker 2: You could just pop in right now.
- 45:48Speaker 3: No, I have to. I'm a completist.
- 45:50Speaker 2: Okay. Good for you. Meredith Marks, she's a Real Housewife,
- 45:54Speaker 2: and she's now a DJ.
- 45:55Speaker 3: Oh, thank God.
- 45:57Speaker 2: And I just want to say. With all the, you know,
- 46:00Speaker 2: Tom Sandoval is now, he got rid of the karaoke
- 46:03Speaker 2: band and he's just doing Vanderpump Trivia.
- 46:06Speaker 3: Oh, good for him.
- 46:08Speaker 2: And I mean, it's a smart, easy way with a
- 46:10Speaker 2: higher profitability, you know. You know, Luann is scaling down
- 46:16Speaker 2: her band and she's doing more Q & A with
- 46:19Speaker 2: like one or two songs. This DJ thing. could be
- 46:23Speaker 2: the most genius thing. We don't know. First of all,
- 46:26Speaker 2: she's hearing impaired.
- 46:28Speaker 3: Yes.
- 46:29Speaker 2: So we, like all of a sudden, I just think
- 46:32Speaker 2: Brooks or somebody was like, you should just be a DJ, mom,
- 46:34Speaker 2: because all you have to do is just pretend. We'll
- 46:36Speaker 2: put the track.
- 46:37Speaker 3: And also like, Gay guys will be so thrilled in Charleston,
- 46:41Speaker 3: South Carolina. What else do they have going on?
- 46:43Speaker 2: I mean, it's just a fun dance night of drinks
- 46:45Speaker 2: and you're around people that are familiar with Bravo. It's
- 46:47Speaker 2: like going to a sports bar. It's a good idea.
- 46:49Speaker 3: It's like it always makes me sad that James Kennedy
- 46:51Speaker 3: was like the one person to figure out a lucrative
- 46:54Speaker 3: gig from all of those people.
- 46:55Speaker 2: But then he got a little violent with his girlfriend.
- 46:59Speaker 3: Oh.
- 46:59Speaker 2: That's why.
- 47:00Speaker 3: I was going to say. That the now-Roy D. James
- 47:04Speaker 3: Kennedy should be brought back for the Vanderpump with the
- 47:08Speaker 3: new class, but not after that.
- 47:11Speaker 2: That's not okay. No, they're not going to. There's nobody
- 47:13Speaker 2: that got a spillover because not even that other guy
- 47:18Speaker 2: that was the manager.
- 47:19Speaker 3: But you and I need to figure out other– because
- 47:21Speaker 3: they saturate the same areas. Everyone's trying to launch an
- 47:26Speaker 3: alcohol campaign. and then you have Jen trying to do
- 47:29Speaker 3: an elder scam, and that was not the right answer,
- 47:31Speaker 3: but we need to figure out those other businesses that
- 47:35Speaker 3: these women could go into to really.
- 47:38Speaker 3: Make some money because it is to me sad.
- 47:40Speaker 2: I think DJ is the way to go. DJ is
- 47:42Speaker 2: a way to go because there are real DJs that
- 47:44Speaker 2: really can do it, but you could fake it. Yeah.
- 47:48Speaker 2: You could fake it easier than anything. You could fake
- 47:50Speaker 2: it easier than lip syncing. You could fake it easier
- 47:52Speaker 2: than podcasting, dancing, writing a book, ghostwriting, all of it.
- 47:57Speaker 2: There's nothing easier, in my opinion, to fake than the DJ.
- 48:00Speaker 3: But there is something nice when you have somebody who
- 48:02Speaker 3: is like a demographically interesting DJ, like, I've always said
- 48:05Speaker 3: the best nights of my life are created by like
- 48:07Speaker 3: trans male DJs or lesbian DJs who are just like,
- 48:11Speaker 3: know when the Fleetwood Mac should come in and, you know.
- 48:15Speaker 2: Right, I mean, listen, you know, I saw Kyle Cook
- 48:17Speaker 2: from Summer House. I thought he played great music. I
- 48:20Speaker 2: was on a high. I had a great time. I
- 48:21Speaker 2: think a DJ is a really good time. When I've
- 48:23Speaker 2: seen her DJ, it'll be like her being like, the
- 48:26Speaker 2: rumors about the husband. And then like, it's her voice
- 48:30Speaker 2: going over and she's like.
- 48:32Speaker 3: But like, you and I are two of the greatest
- 48:34Speaker 3: cultural critics of our time. And I think you and
- 48:36Speaker 3: I are able to figure out those jobs that they
- 48:38Speaker 3: can do easily. It's like the thing, One of my
- 48:40Speaker 3: great observations, if I do say so myself, is that
- 48:44Speaker 3: cooking show requires a greater level of sincerity than just
- 48:47Speaker 3: about any other job in media. And it really is
- 48:49Speaker 3: only the great Valerie Bertinelli who is able to like
- 48:51Speaker 3: go into that territory and like pull it off. And
- 48:54Speaker 3: I think figuring out the things like what could Sonya
- 48:58Speaker 3: do that she would be able to like just absolutely destroy.
- 49:03Speaker 3: And it really is hard. You know, they used to
- 49:07Speaker 3: try to like, these ladies can't host a morning show.
- 49:10Speaker 2: Well, like a drunken moment, falling off of a stool
- 49:13Speaker 2: and having Bethany pick you up after you say, I'm
- 49:16Speaker 2: going to, and then you fall off the pool. Those
- 49:19Speaker 2: moments that make you iconic on a housewife show doesn't
- 49:23Speaker 2: make for a 90 minute live show. It's like a
- 49:26Speaker 2: completely different thing. So yeah, you have to figure out
- 49:30Speaker 2: what that is and just a pop in to a fun,
- 49:34Speaker 2: like gay bar and just take a bunch of photos
- 49:37Speaker 2: and have your track play and dance around and, pretend
- 49:40Speaker 2: like you actually know how to like screw the things.
- 49:43Speaker 2: It's the smartest thing. And she sells caviar.
- 49:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 49:48Speaker 2: Good for her. I think it's great. And I, you know,
- 49:52Speaker 2: I just love, I love how it came about where
- 49:54Speaker 2: she's like, So I was talking to Brooks, my son,
- 49:58Speaker 2: and he says DJing is what I should be doing.
- 50:01Speaker 2: And I say, you know what? I'm a lawyer. I'm
- 50:04Speaker 2: a jeweler. I'm a caviar concierge. And now I'm a DJ.
- 50:09Speaker 3: Perfect. Brooks was such a great innovation that we went
- 50:11Speaker 3: that far into the Real Housewives universe before someone was
- 50:14Speaker 3: smart enough to have a teenage gay son. Like, brilliant.
- 50:18Speaker 2: I've been praying for it.
- 50:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 50:20Speaker 2: And it finally— and I've met him in person.
- 50:22Speaker 3: Oh, really?
- 50:24Speaker 2: Skin, like— Milk, scrolling down, a peach.
- 50:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 50:30Speaker 2: Adorable. Yes.
- 50:31Speaker 3: Who, like, of the famous people, of the famous gay
- 50:35Speaker 3: guys you have met, who was most thrilled to meet you? Who,
- 50:41Speaker 3: on whom are your powers most powerful?
- 50:44Speaker 2: Oh, I can't even think. Nobody.
- 50:46Speaker 3: Really?
- 50:46Speaker 2: Sticks out. Whoever, like.
- 50:49Speaker 3: You are adored by many gays. Look, as somebody who
- 50:51Speaker 3: is adored by many brunette women, I'm able, you know.
- 50:55Speaker 2: I'm afraid, more afraid, that there's one or two out
- 50:57Speaker 2: there that I disappointed when they came up to me.
- 51:01Speaker 3: I mean, yes.
- 51:03Speaker 2: Where I wasn't as... gracious and lovely and i might
- 51:06Speaker 2: have just been like oh hi that was not enough
- 51:09Speaker 2: so that's a problem too.
- 51:10Speaker 3: Heather i don't know that people are showing up for
- 51:12Speaker 3: grace gracious and lovely like you might have disappointed on
- 51:15Speaker 3: gracious and lovely but you're not disappointing on i have
- 51:18Speaker 3: hard takes on popular culture and that's what i'm showing.
- 51:22Speaker 2: Up for listen i will talk to you i'll ask
- 51:24Speaker 2: questions i can dance with you and everything but also
- 51:27Speaker 2: if i'm waiting in line to get a drink yeah
- 51:30Speaker 2: that's the priority Just like I'm waiting to go from
- 51:34Speaker 2: the 101 to the 405, I really don't want you
- 51:36Speaker 2: cutting in front of me. I also might cut in
- 51:38Speaker 2: front of you and act like I just moved here
- 51:40Speaker 2: and I didn't know the freeway was coming. I have
- 51:42Speaker 2: a whole backstory because I do feel guilty about doing it,
- 51:44Speaker 2: but sometimes I have to go right to the end.
- 51:47Speaker 2: And then I'm like, what? How did this first get here?
- 51:49Speaker 2: And then I just get in there.
- 51:50Speaker 3: You use action class techniques internally.
- 51:53Speaker 1: Yes, yes.
- 51:54Speaker 2: And to tell myself, like, that is such a dick move, Heather.
- 51:57Speaker 2: You don't like it when people do it. Now you're
- 51:58Speaker 2: doing it to you. And then I'm like, does this
- 52:00Speaker 2: person recognize me in the car? Will they do a
- 52:02Speaker 2: TikTok about it?
- 52:03Speaker 3: I mean, it is an interesting thing. When somebody, like,
- 52:06Speaker 3: comes up to your eye and knows who we are,
- 52:09Speaker 3: it is that thing of, like— I think they are
- 52:13Speaker 3: getting a very honest experience and that may not be.
- 52:16Speaker 2: What they want. Sometimes it could be the most lovely thing.
- 52:19Speaker 2: Sometimes you could be distracted. Sometimes you think you gave
- 52:22Speaker 2: them a lot, but it wasn't enough because you all
- 52:24Speaker 2: of a sudden something pops up and you see a
- 52:26Speaker 2: comment and you're like, I do remember meeting you. I
- 52:29Speaker 2: thought it was nice. I'm sorry. It wasn't nice enough.
- 52:32Speaker 3: Yes.
- 52:32Speaker 2: Like, and then you have to be like, I can't
- 52:34Speaker 2: please everybody. Um, Vanderpump rules talked a little bit about that. Uh,
- 52:41Speaker 2: On one report, I heard that it was the highest
- 52:45Speaker 2: rated show on Peacock the day after, which you have
- 52:48Speaker 2: to watch the Bravo stuff the day after on Peacock.
- 52:51Speaker 2: But then there was another report saying that people who
- 52:53Speaker 2: actually watched it on Bravo, as it came out, that
- 52:56Speaker 2: the numbers were extremely low. But a lot of people
- 52:58Speaker 2: don't have Bravo anymore, you know?
- 52:59Speaker 3: I worry that there are no stars anymore.
- 53:02Speaker 1: I worry.
- 53:03Speaker 3: And the thing is, for a show like this, it
- 53:05Speaker 3: takes some time for you to build up and actually
- 53:07Speaker 3: get to know who the people are. They're working off
- 53:09Speaker 3: of the structures of the original show very significantly. I
- 53:14Speaker 3: like that this time, the Tom, the beta model, is
- 53:19Speaker 3: the one who is the Jax. But it's like, ultimately...
- 53:25Speaker 3: The collection of mental illnesses that is Jax Taylor is,
- 53:28Speaker 3: you know, lightning in a bottle.
- 53:29Speaker 2: You're not coming back to the Valley.
- 53:31Speaker 3: What's going to happen?
- 53:32Speaker 2: He's getting divorced.
- 53:34Speaker 3: I mean.
- 53:34Speaker 2: He lost the restaurant.
- 53:37Speaker 3: Oh, really? That's sad.
- 53:38Speaker 2: He's not part of the restaurant. I don't know if
- 53:40Speaker 2: he's still doing his Mind of a Man, whatever, podcast.
- 53:44Speaker 4: I mean.
- 53:45Speaker 3: He's not a stable person.
- 53:46Speaker 2: Hopefully he'll get stable and then he can like make
- 53:49Speaker 2: some appearances as co-parent back on the show just because
- 53:51Speaker 2: I want him to make an income for Britney.
- 53:53Speaker 3: I mean, Britney has some commercials out.
- 53:56Speaker 2: Britney's doing great.
- 53:57Speaker 1: Yes.
- 53:57Speaker 3: But like ultimately I think the real question is it's
- 54:00Speaker 3: about tendons. It's about connective tissues. It's about Sheena Shea.
- 54:04Speaker 3: And the thing is, is like at this point in time,
- 54:06Speaker 3: a couple of episodes in, I don't know which of
- 54:08Speaker 3: those people would have the capacities of a Sheena Shea
- 54:13Speaker 3: to like keep the story going and shift from every
- 54:16Speaker 3: part that you need to in it. Like it's weird
- 54:19Speaker 3: that we're back at a point in time where they're
- 54:21Speaker 3: pretending that they care about their music and their modeling
- 54:24Speaker 3: and everything like that. Also, I got to say like,
- 54:27Speaker 3: it's like, it's the year of our Lord 2025 and
- 54:30Speaker 3: it's real white. And like at least original Vanderpump had
- 54:36Speaker 3: like 17 people who you found out were Latino three
- 54:39Speaker 3: seasons in.
- 54:40Speaker 2: Do you think, I agree with that, all of that.
- 54:43Speaker 2: I love that. Three seasons in. Should Sheena Shea, for
- 54:49Speaker 2: her mental health, should she watch this? Should she not
- 54:55Speaker 2: watch this show? Where she was the person that made
- 54:58Speaker 2: the show exist because she was having the affair with,
- 55:01Speaker 2: had an affair with Brandi Glanville's husband. And that was
- 55:05Speaker 2: where the spinoff happened. And she chose not to do
- 55:08Speaker 2: The Valley because, And now people are saying, who's the
- 55:12Speaker 2: Sheena Shea? How do you think she should conduct her life?
- 55:17Speaker 3: In the song, I Enjoy Being a Girl from Flower
- 55:19Speaker 3: Drum Song, there is a lyric, like a filly who
- 55:21Speaker 3: is ready for the race. And Sheena Shea, Eason has
- 55:25Speaker 3: always been a filly who is ready for the race.
- 55:27Speaker 3: And the thing is, there are times when that becomes sad.
- 55:29Speaker 3: Like when she is talking about how much she wants
- 55:32Speaker 3: to do Dancing with the Stars and we feel sad
- 55:33Speaker 3: for her that Ariana gets it and Ariana doesn't really care.
- 55:36Speaker 3: The thing is, is like, as someone, as an outsider
- 55:39Speaker 3: and an older person, I'm able to look at Sheena
- 55:41Speaker 3: Shea and be like, baby, you're going to be doing
- 55:44Speaker 3: this forever. You are like, this is a marathon for you.
- 55:48Speaker 3: This is not a sprint. And these children may be
- 55:51Speaker 3: on a television show for a season or two, but
- 55:53Speaker 3: like the traders will come for you, young lady. I mean,
- 55:57Speaker 3: watching Rachel Zoe walk into Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,
- 56:01Speaker 3: I was just like, of course, you know, like, This is,
- 56:04Speaker 3: this fits, this works.
- 56:06Speaker 2: In a calf town, I die.
- 56:07Speaker 3: Yes.
- 56:08Speaker 2: I die.
- 56:08Speaker 3: And like Sheena, like there will always be a place
- 56:12Speaker 3: for her. There will always be things for her to do.
- 56:14Speaker 3: And I know that like the immediacies of where is
- 56:16Speaker 3: my income right now is a thing. And I also
- 56:18Speaker 3: understand the like, God, but I want to be doing
- 56:22Speaker 3: my craft, you know? And I think Sheena Shay is
- 56:25Speaker 3: the rare person for whom this is a fucking craft,
- 56:28Speaker 3: you know?
- 56:28Speaker 2: I know. That's why she's got to, something else has
- 56:31Speaker 2: got to come for her. Let's talk about the story
- 56:36Speaker 2: that has everyone talking.
- 56:37Speaker 3: Did you watch any of this?
- 56:40Speaker 2: Yes, I did.
- 56:41Speaker 3: What did you think?
- 56:41Speaker 2: I did the Cliff Dope version in which I went
- 56:44Speaker 2: to TikTok.
- 56:45Speaker 3: Okay.
- 56:45Speaker 2: And I typed it in because I knew I just
- 56:47Speaker 2: wanted to get to the steamy parts.
- 56:49Speaker 3: It's almost all steamy parts.
- 56:51Speaker 2: Heated Rivalry is based on a book. And for the
- 56:54Speaker 2: people that read the book, they're extremely pleased with this adaptation.
- 56:57Speaker 3: Yes.
- 56:58Speaker 2: And it is an incredible idea for a show and
- 57:02Speaker 2: a book. which is it's two rival hockey players who
- 57:06Speaker 2: end up falling in love. So it's a gay romance
- 57:11Speaker 2: with sports and with incredible chemistry directing that has, no
- 57:18Speaker 2: matter what your sexuality is, you're like, What does this
- 57:23Speaker 2: mean I am? It's very juicy. And there's just juicy
- 57:27Speaker 2: stuff that happens in the story.
- 57:29Speaker 3: Well, okay. So I've always been very weirded out by
- 57:31Speaker 3: the fact that so many of the YA gay romances
- 57:34Speaker 3: and so many of the, like, respectable literary fiction about
- 57:38Speaker 3: gay men comes from female writers and frequently straight female writers.
- 57:43Speaker 3: And I felt weird about it. But then Jennifer Weiner,
- 57:45Speaker 3: who wrote, like, In Your Shoes and stuff like that,
- 57:47Speaker 3: she did a thing on her sub stack where she
- 57:48Speaker 3: was like, 90% of stuff that's, like, 90% of readers
- 57:52Speaker 3: are women. Women read books, and so this stuff is
- 57:55Speaker 3: going to be from women for women. In Japan, making gay,
- 58:00Speaker 3: porny comic books, manga, for women has been something that's
- 58:06Speaker 3: been going on for years. So it can be very female-focused.
- 58:09Speaker 2: So we did a woman write this or not?
- 58:11Speaker 3: Yes, a bisexual woman wrote the book, but then the
- 58:14Speaker 3: showrunner is a comedy guy, a gay comedy guy who
- 58:18Speaker 3: made The show Letter Kenny, which is not for you,
- 58:20Speaker 3: but just very, very funny. And then this other show, Shorzy.
- 58:23Speaker 3: So like also I think having a comedy person be
- 58:26Speaker 3: in charge of it, you don't get some of the
- 58:29Speaker 3: like schmaltzy or sentimentality you can get from things like this.
- 58:32Speaker 3: And it really is like fun and poppy and good.
- 58:35Speaker 3: But like what level of sexiness did you see? Did
- 58:39Speaker 3: you see the hole touching?
- 58:41Speaker 2: Yeah. No, because I don't think they can show that
- 58:45Speaker 2: on TikTok.
- 58:46Speaker 3: Okay.
- 58:47Speaker 2: I felt like I was doing something wrong just even
- 58:50Speaker 2: watching the TikToks. I felt like I needed to like
- 58:53Speaker 2: go to confession, but I kept seeing arched back.
- 58:56Speaker 3: Yes.
- 58:57Speaker 2: And then I kept looking for the arched back scene.
- 58:59Speaker 2: And I guess on TikTok, that's too sexy to show.
- 59:02Speaker 3: Well, and then also there is like a really good,
- 59:05Speaker 3: like on the face of the bottom when he is
- 59:08Speaker 3: being entered, that is like, good. And there's been some
- 59:11Speaker 3: controversy because like neither of these actors have talked publicly
- 59:15Speaker 3: about their sexuality. And the showrunner who is gay has
- 59:18Speaker 3: been like, you don't have the right to ask about that.
- 59:20Speaker 3: How do you feel about that?
- 59:21Speaker 2: Well, I saw some interviews with the two of them.
- 59:23Speaker 3: Yes.
- 59:23Speaker 2: So they're accent free in that. Because one guy's playing
- 59:27Speaker 2: Russian and he's not Russian. And they got these sort
- 59:31Speaker 2: of matching tattoos. And the tattoos are awful, by the way. One,
- 59:36Speaker 2: the one who plays the Russian, it's a heart. Looks
- 59:39Speaker 2: like I drew it with a pen. A heart on
- 59:41Speaker 2: his calf that says sex cells. And then the other
- 59:45Speaker 2: one with the dark hair, he has sex cells just
- 59:48Speaker 2: written on his thigh. And they come off. honestly just
- 59:53Speaker 2: like they're really good friends.
- 59:54Speaker 3: Yes.
- 59:55Speaker 2: I believe if they're not gay, they're definitely bi or
- 59:58Speaker 2: they enjoyed these acting scenes. So does this, will this
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: have like another, another season?
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: I don't know because they're like, they're like going through
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: time very, very quickly. Like it starts out in 2012.
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: We're like going through years. And so I don't know.
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: Why didn't we milk this out?
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:00:17Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: But here's the thing.
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: It's so good. Like one gets married and one has
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: a kid.
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: It was, It was made for Crave, which is a
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: Canadian cable network. And this is my important, I forget
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: whether I said this about Hunting Wives, but Hunting Wives
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: made us realize that the point of Netflix was to
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: allow us to watch a star's original series without feeling
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: guilt about it. And HBO has followed suit by letting
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: us watch a fucking Crave show and treat it like
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: it's HBO, you know?
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: Absolutely. Because I was kind of like, okay. And I
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: knew that we wanted to talk about it. And so
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: I was like, I felt like, oh, my God, I
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: have a testimony. I didn't do my homework. So I
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: got the Cliff Notes, which is TikTok. And I definitely
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: get the vibe of it. And I definitely... appreciate and
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: the people talking about how sexy it was was women like.
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: Yes but the thing is heather i would say do
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: yourself a favor wait until peter and the boys are
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: out of the house watch an episode like really oh
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: i am because it really is my friend riri made
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: the point that like with a show the question is
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: always like how much horny can you have and this
- 1:01:20Speaker 3: she called this is like 62% of scenes are horniness.
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: Oh, and also, the best part is the villain is
- 1:01:27Speaker 3: the mom. Like, it understands fundamentally that the villain in
- 1:01:30Speaker 3: a gay story is the mom who is, like, trying
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: to make her son be all about his endorsements and
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: is going to be, like, upset but then fundamentally understanding,
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: I'm sure, when her son comes out of the closet
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: to her.
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: I'm excited. By the way, this might be the time that,
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: in case anyone didn't know, I am related to a
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: very famous hockey player.
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: Oh, really? Yes, I am.
- 1:01:50Speaker 4: Who? Who?
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: Charles McAvoy of the Boston Bruins.
- 1:01:56Speaker 3: How is he related to you?
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: He's my cousin.
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: That's amazing, Heather. How did this never come up? I've
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: known you for 19 goddamn years.
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: Because I don't want to be that braggy girl. But no,
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: his dad.
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: I know that your brother dated Penelope Spheeris.
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: Famous comedy director. That is true, too.
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: No.
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: So his dad is my first cousin.
- 1:02:18Speaker 3: Oh, wonderful.
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: So his grandma and my dad were brother-sister.
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: But I need to tell you, in the third episode,
- 1:02:26Speaker 3: they go to two completely different characters, what I think
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: are two different books, where it's just a different closeted
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: guy in hockey who goes to this barista and falls
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: in love with him. And then the barista is like, oh,
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: I'm dating a famous closeted person. Can I handle this?
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: And it's really sweet.
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: The barista scene I saw where they're like, girl, that's cute.
- 1:02:46Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: Okay, so you guys, that's what you're going to watch.
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: How do you feel about Pamela Anderson on her year
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: of happy surprises of no makeup and letting her hair
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: go this Auburn curly style?
- 1:02:58Speaker 3: I love it. And I think that she is a
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: uniquely placed person. Okay, I do have to tell you,
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: I have a weird opinion and energy about people who
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: leveraged hotness to become famous. And then as they get older,
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: are like, it's not all about hotness. And I am
- 1:03:14Speaker 3: sort of like, well, that was what we bought you for.
- 1:03:19Speaker 3: That is how you marketed yourself. And now you're weird
- 1:03:22Speaker 3: and mad that things are different. But also, she was
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: just so good in The Naked Gun. And she really is, like,
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: part of her has always been boobs and hotness, but
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: also part of her has always been this extreme sincerity
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: and Canadian-ness. And.
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: So it's funny that you said that because I was
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: with my friend Jacques, who was on the show Tuesday,
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: and he's obsessed with this too, and he had a
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: similar take to yours.
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: And I was like, well, first of all, she's doing
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: it for a movie, and she's utilizing the skincare partnership,
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: and she has a hair product. And it doesn't mean
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: she's going to be this redhead forever. It's obviously not
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: as attractive as if she went blonde. I don't think
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: you need to get a facelift and all that stuff,
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: but I do think you need to have– hair and
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: a look that, that makes you look the best without
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: plastic surgery is personally my, but I get it. But
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: I will say her whole thing with Liam Neeson, because
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: first when it happened that they were a couple and
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: talking about it, I was like, this is amazing. They
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: each have two boys. And then I was like, wait,
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: was this bullshit for the show? And so in this
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: article on people, she finally says the truth, which is what,
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: which was, we were just friends and, We hung out
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: one weekend. It sounds like that one weekend they did fuck.
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: But she's like, I pruned his garden and we had
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: one little romance. And then we decided we were just
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: going to be friends after that. And then the press happened.
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: So they didn't do anything while they were filming. They
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: had their one little rendezvous weekend or week. Decided they
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: would just be friends. He, you know, he's still significantly
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: older than her. He's like 70 and she's 56 or something.
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: And then, or 58. And then, and then, so then
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: they played along that it was still happening for the camera.
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: So it was like a half lie.
- 1:05:14Speaker 3: I like that we still live in a Hollywood that
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: is capable of telling us lies. You know, like it's
- 1:05:18Speaker 3: very golden age here. And I have to say, the
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: color on that sweater is doing so much work in
- 1:05:23Speaker 3: that photo. It does look really good.
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: Yeah, because she has beautiful, natural blue eyes. The reason she,
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: I always say this, became so famous, I think, is
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: because it was a time, same with Farrah Fawcett, where
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: you couldn't just create big teeth.
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: Or full lips. So if you... came out of the
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: womb and you had a fucking killer smile.
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: You had a chance to jump ahead of other very
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: talented people that didn't have that good of a smile.
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: And she had a perfect nose, perfect lips, perfect smile
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: without plastic surgery at a time when not everyone could
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: look like Pamela Anderson.
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: I get annoyed when people who are already very famous
- 1:06:03Speaker 3: then go like, yay, body positivity. I love my curves.
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: And like, There's one particular person who I'm like, yes,
- 1:06:10Speaker 3: but you only got to be this level of famous
- 1:06:12Speaker 3: because you were hotter than I am.
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: You'll have to tell me after.
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: Well, speaking of which, you know, what's her name? Kate
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: Winslet is angry that, you know, why can't we just
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: age naturally and this and that? And I want. And
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: I want to say, you can. Emma Thompson, you've.
- 1:06:32Speaker 3: Been in lots of movies with her. Have you seen
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: her recently?
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: Yeah, and what's great is if you want to go
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: that route, you should. You should get all the movie roles.
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: And if you care more about waking up in the
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: morning and not having a wrinkly forehead, get your Botox
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: and maybe you won't have all those roles. And the
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: fact that Nicole Kidman can have both, don't be jealous.
- 1:06:53Speaker 3: I mean, I also think it's really hard. She got
- 1:06:56Speaker 3: torn apart for her body after... Who?
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: Kate Winslet?
- 1:07:01Speaker 3: Kate Winslet. For what? People called her fat after Titanic.
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: And that was so unfair. Oh, right.
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: She was so not. Never.
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: And the 90s were... Horrible. Yes.
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: And early 2000s. Remember when they all thought Jessica Simpson
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: was obese because she wore a size 4 jean?
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: John Kerry's wife called Catherine Zeta-Jones fat.
- 1:07:23Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:07:25Speaker 3: In Chicago.
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: John Kerry, the politician?
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: Brand for president. Oh my God. No, like, it's truly
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: insane what people did and so I understand the mind
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: fuck about it.
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: Well, did you see, you watched Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, right?
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: Did you catch the snark remark, I don't like it,
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: that Erika Jayne said about Sutton?
- 1:07:44Speaker 3: No, what did she say?
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: She, Bose was like, I don't know about Sutton, you know, Slim,
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: she said something like Slim Sutton or something like Slim Shady.
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: She made something like Slim, And Erica goes more like
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: box because that's how she doesn't think that she has
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: like an hourglass figure or whatever.
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: But also like, and Erica, we know where you've.
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: Been on a Zephyr for four years and you can
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: stay on it for the rest of your life. And
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: you slim down after, you know, you don't, you don't
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: hit menopause and then suddenly have a skinnier body than
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: you ever did, which is why they are great.
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: But then don't, no matter whether you're on it or not,
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: it's just a rude thing to say because, you know.
- 1:08:27Speaker 3: The people getting on GLP-1 drugs who were previously fat
- 1:08:30Speaker 3: and talked with pride about it and then now are
- 1:08:32Speaker 3: sort of like, I was a terrible person before. Now
- 1:08:35Speaker 3: I've got it all figured out. It's like, no. Now
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: you are paying money for a hormone to help you out. Like,
- 1:08:40Speaker 3: please don't be critical of other people who aren't in
- 1:08:42Speaker 3: the same situation as you. I'm talking about Lizzo.
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: How do you feel about Melissa McCarthy?
- 1:08:47Speaker 3: Oh, I mean, it's like, I think, well it's interesting
- 1:08:51Speaker 3: because there are these Gen X energies of be authentic,
- 1:08:54Speaker 3: be who you are, but then the trans community has
- 1:08:57Speaker 3: done so much to open us up to the idea
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: of being who you want to be is your own authenticity.
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: And as somebody who has broken a fair number of
- 1:09:07Speaker 3: chairs in my life and frequently goes to situations where
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: my body doesn't fit into them, the thing that happened
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: to me on the plane, I don't begrudge anyone doing
- 1:09:14Speaker 3: anything to be able to move through this world a
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: little bit easier, to be able to fit into clothes
- 1:09:18Speaker 3: a little bit easier.
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: Good for you you know i i totally agree and
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: you're right if why why is it that we have
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: a we don't have a problem if someone wants to
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: change their whole sexual identity well.
- 1:09:31Speaker 3: Those people do run into some problems well.
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: I do but i'm saying like there's the same people
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: that are embracing that i'm just saying hypocrisy same people
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: that are like you go you know girl are like
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: oh please she took a shot yes It's like everyone
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: has an opinion.
- 1:09:47Speaker 3: Well, it's because people love to moralize about fatness and
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: people love to believe that their own lack of fatness
- 1:09:52Speaker 3: is because they are a virtuous person. And I did
- 1:09:55Speaker 3: it the right way by being sensible. She's just taking
- 1:09:57Speaker 3: a shot. And it's like, in All About My Mother,
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: the Pedro Almodovar film, there's a moment where one of
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: the trans characters says, I think the more you are
- 1:10:05Speaker 3: the person you imagine yourself to be, the more authentic
- 1:10:08Speaker 3: you are. And I think that that's a beautiful idea.
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: Yeah, and I really think that the fact that people...
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: that may, you know, struggled their whole life and was
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: seen even as this castable character.
- 1:10:21Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: Because of their body type.
- 1:10:23Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: And now that is no longer them.
- 1:10:26Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: But they look great in a cat suit and can like,
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: I think that's fascinating. And I think it's very interesting
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: to hear people that are now you know, a completely
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: different look and it's attainable and it didn't take surgery
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: and it's not them weighing their chicken and things like that.
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: And so, but I said, like, that's going to be
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: interesting what it's like for them to now this new
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: life that they have. And I just saw they're doing
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: a show. Are you somebody that lost an enormous amount
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: of weight and are now getting ready to date?
- 1:11:04Speaker 3: Oh.
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: And how that would be You know, kind of like
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: after the biggest loser kind of a life where you're
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: going to most likely stay this.
- 1:11:12Speaker 3: I thought you were going to say it was people
- 1:11:15Speaker 3: who were having to like go through obstacle courses to
- 1:11:18Speaker 3: win skin removal surgery. That's the show that I want
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: to see.
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: Oh, my God. That is so good.
- 1:11:27Speaker 3: Kate Winslet. I mean, she's like hitting that point. I mean,
- 1:11:31Speaker 3: Goldie Hawn said it in First Wives Club. They're your
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: hot piece of ass DA or driving Miss Daisy. Those
- 1:11:38Speaker 3: are the three ages that a woman can be. And
- 1:11:40Speaker 3: like she is running into a point where I'm sure
- 1:11:44Speaker 3: that there are fewer roles for her. Like fewer exciting
- 1:11:48Speaker 3: things for her to do. And that's hard. And it
- 1:11:51Speaker 3: is sort of this question.
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: But you should embrace that too. I mean, you know,
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: Reese Witherspoon cried about it and she bought a foreign
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: production company in which she bought all the best books.
- 1:12:02Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:12:02Speaker 2: So she can either produce it, be in it, whatever.
- 1:12:05Speaker 2: It's true. It's like life changes and no one is
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: guaranteed anything. And to hear like big stars boohoo about it,
- 1:12:13Speaker 2: whether you're a woman or a man or, you know,
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: I'm thin now and now I'm not getting the roles
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: or I'm this size and now I'm not getting them
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: or I'm white and I'm not getting the roles or
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: I'm black. I'm not getting the role. It's like, Nobody
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: wants to hear you bitch about it. It's like, no
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: one feels sorry for you.
- 1:12:26Speaker 3: There is also the thing of like, to what extent
- 1:12:28Speaker 3: am I expected to manipulate my body to continue to
- 1:12:32Speaker 3: do this craft that I do is something that is weird. Like,
- 1:12:36Speaker 3: you know, it is like so many of the women
- 1:12:41Speaker 3: 50 or older, like, you know, have had stuff done
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: to keep going. And it is also weird because it
- 1:12:48Speaker 3: also makes them kind of, to some extent, not look
- 1:12:53Speaker 3: like most women their age in America. And, you know,
- 1:12:56Speaker 3: I think that that is interesting or like when it
- 1:13:00Speaker 3: comes to castability.
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: A lot of stars, when they're playing the role, they
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: let the Botox and everything deplete. They play the role
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: where they're like, I'm going to get you little lady,
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: you know, and then they get the Oscar nod.
- 1:13:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: And they plan it out. Inject me. Three to four
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: weeks before the Oscars.
- 1:13:21Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: I'm not going to drink. I'm going to do the shot.
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: And then they look great on the red carpet. And
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: I think that's perfect. That's having the best of both worlds.
- 1:13:30Speaker 3: There are times when we went to Australia with Chelsea Lely,
- 1:13:33Speaker 3: I remember seeing women in their 50s and 60s who
- 1:13:35Speaker 3: were healthy and athletic and had not had work done
- 1:13:38Speaker 3: and had their natural color of hair. And it was
- 1:13:40Speaker 3: really inspiring and beautiful. But ultimately, we are Angelenos. And
- 1:13:44Speaker 3: we are used to... You know, people getting a little
- 1:13:48Speaker 3: here and a little there.
- 1:13:48Speaker 2: I like a little here and a little there. Yeah.
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: I color my hair. Yes. I, you know, wear makeup.
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: I like to look as cute as I can for
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: as long as I can.
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: And.
- 1:14:04Speaker 3: How many potions are you putting in your morning beverages?
- 1:14:07Speaker 3: Are you ever... are we taking any collagen peptides? Are
- 1:14:09Speaker 3: we taking?
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: I am, bub. I believe they're a sponsor. And I
- 1:14:14Speaker 2: just started. I'm very, I'm very, I don't do, I
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: haven't done any of the hormones and the pellets and
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: all that stuff.
- 1:14:20Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: Though I'm freaked out that I haven't because everyone says
- 1:14:23Speaker 2: I'm insane not to.
- 1:14:24Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:14:24Speaker 2: So I've had a very, not a horrible time with
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: it all.
- 1:14:28Speaker 3: Heather, I just realized.
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: The greatest part of getting older is not getting your period.
- 1:14:31Speaker 2: If you had something five days a month for the
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: last 40 years of your life, It is the greatest thing.
- 1:14:39Speaker 3: It is just such testament to the fact that you
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: and I don't talk to each other enough. And when
- 1:14:45Speaker 3: we talk, we have things to talk about that I
- 1:14:47Speaker 3: was like, God, I have no idea where Heather is
- 1:14:50Speaker 3: on that journey.
- 1:14:52Speaker 2: The journey is pretty great. It hasn't been too bad.
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: You know, just the cost of tampons, not having a tampon.
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: being with your kids and having them say what's wrong.
- 1:15:09Speaker 2: And then Brandon, and I'm like, Drake, I just need
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: to get a tampon. And Brandon being like little, like
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: what's a tampon. And then Brandon Drake being like, it's
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: like a bandaid for your vagina. And I'm like, watch
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: your brother. Cause I need to run to the bathroom.
- 1:15:24Speaker 2: Like all those times, like it's such a fucking nightmare
- 1:15:27Speaker 2: and guys will never, uh, understand it, of what it does,
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: and that it's embarrassing. God forbid it shows in your
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: clothes and someone has to tell you and you're embarrassed.
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: Embarrassed of what? Embarrassed that you fucking have a uterus.
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: There's nothing to be embarrassed of. But we do.
- 1:15:46Speaker 3: The Seinfeld had a bit about making fun of detergent
- 1:15:51Speaker 3: commercials that say getting out bloodstains. Who has bloodstains? Are
- 1:15:54Speaker 3: you a murderer? It's like, Jerry Seinfeld, do you never
- 1:15:57Speaker 3: talk to your girlfriend? Do you have no idea? And
- 1:16:00Speaker 3: then a joke I tried to work out forever is
- 1:16:02Speaker 3: how much I loved that, like, women being embarrassed of
- 1:16:08Speaker 3: sanitary products turned them all into close magicians. Just in
- 1:16:12Speaker 3: high school, every, like, girl had to be like, is
- 1:16:16Speaker 3: this your tampon? Like, just sort of the, like, you know, the, like,
- 1:16:20Speaker 3: secret laser.
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: No, it'd be like, are you packing?
- 1:16:22Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: Which does not mean a handgun. Yeah. Um, the entire,
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: the amount of times that you have to like, I
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: had to make a thing of tissue and you know,
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: it's crazy. It's crazy that it's not free.
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: It's crazy that there isn't some program that if you,
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: I mean, I think if you go to places, I
- 1:16:43Speaker 2: don't know. I don't even know. I don't even know
- 1:16:46Speaker 2: what people do that can't afford it because it's fucking expensive.
- 1:16:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:16:50Speaker 2: And when I run for president, um, There is going
- 1:16:54Speaker 2: to be free sanitary napkins everywhere. There would be times
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: if you didn't have a quarter to put it in
- 1:17:02Speaker 2: the machine. Too fucking bad.
- 1:17:04Speaker 3: Heather, I just want to say, if in the next election.
