- 0:08Speaker 1: Everybody, Welcome into the Irish Theeters podcast, the podcast for
- 0:12Speaker 1: Pittsburgh Steeters fans on the island of Ireland, everything around
- 0:15Speaker 1: the world. We are delighted to join you as we
- 0:18Speaker 1: regroup from week three and enter a really really important
- 0:21Speaker 1: week four for the Pittsburgh Steters. Obviously a big watch
- 0:24Speaker 1: party in Ireland, we'll talk about that in a few moments,
- 0:27Speaker 1: but a really great time for this team. For the
- 0:29Speaker 1: first time in the history of this podcast, the team
- 0:32Speaker 1: has a full on perfect record and we're all buzzing.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Michael mcquid, Jimmy English, Dave, Bicky, we are here, lads.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Week four is on the horizon and we're just gonna
- 0:41Speaker 1: come on here on this Monday and look back on
- 0:44Speaker 1: a really cool weekend, another positive weekend. Jimmy is good
- 0:48Speaker 1: to see you. How you do money good?
- 0:49Speaker 2: I am fantastic, Michae, and I'm even better now that
- 0:51Speaker 2: the Steeters got a victory last night. I wasn't convinced
- 0:55Speaker 2: last Thursday when we spoke, as I said, you know,
- 0:58Speaker 2: the Chargers to start in the past few seasons have
- 1:01Speaker 2: been our trap team. Justin Herbert has always seemed to
- 1:04Speaker 2: have our always seem to have our number and for
- 1:06Speaker 2: whatever reason, we just haven't played up to our standards.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Like yesterday was great, Yesterday was fantastic. I was really
- 1:12Speaker 2: really pleasantly surprised by how seamless yesterday seemed to go.
- 1:17Speaker 2: So yeah, like it's great to be three and no,
- 1:19Speaker 2: it's great to be one of the best teams in
- 1:21Speaker 2: the AOC right now, at top of the AOC North
- 1:24Speaker 2: and to have the momentum gone into as you say,
- 1:27Speaker 2: a crucial week four against the Colts which we get
- 1:29Speaker 2: to watch in person and crow Park and looking forward
- 1:33Speaker 2: to seeing you boys in just a few days time
- 1:34Speaker 2: as well and having a couple of sociable drinks together.
- 1:39Speaker 1: A couple of pints of water for me. But it's
- 1:40Speaker 1: really looking forward to this weekend in Crowe Park and dialogue.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Just I guess your initial sort of thoughts going for
- 1:47Speaker 1: you know, and obviously you lads lifelong Stealers fans. It
- 1:53Speaker 1: must mean a lot to see the team out in
- 1:55Speaker 1: such a difficult division at the start of the season
- 1:57Speaker 1: and really put a marker on the rivals, putting.
- 2:01Speaker 3: A batter himself. Michael Marker has been well and truly
- 2:03Speaker 3: sat if you look at the you know, the rest
- 2:05Speaker 3: of the of the division. Cleveland Brans lost as well.
- 2:08Speaker 3: There of course, the Ravens scraper against the Cowboy's just
- 2:11Speaker 3: about and the Bengals obviously play the night so we'll
- 2:13Speaker 3: find out how they go. But to be three and Ozero,
- 2:16Speaker 3: and I'm looking at our schedule as well, where we
- 2:18Speaker 3: had to be three and o we matched it in
- 2:20Speaker 3: pre season. We had to come out of the blocks
- 2:22Speaker 3: far and I think we've done that. So I'm really
- 2:24Speaker 3: really happy of how things Manton. I had a different
- 2:26Speaker 3: feeling off of that win on Sunday compared to the
- 2:28Speaker 3: Aws two weeks. I felt like like it was like
- 2:31Speaker 3: we have a raved moment and sort of thing. So
- 2:33Speaker 3: I'm really happy with how things going so far.
- 2:35Speaker 1: It's been It's been a great a few weeks, and
- 2:37Speaker 1: we're really really excited to see what happens over the
- 2:40Speaker 1: stratch because we've got off the perfect start before we
- 2:42Speaker 1: recap the game and give a standoup before more each
- 2:45Speaker 1: that's here from Stators head coach Mike Tommin.
- 2:48Speaker 4: You know, we talked about it all week. We knew
- 2:50Speaker 4: we were in for a fight. Styles make fights. There's
- 2:55Speaker 4: some board like we're as symboled and so we knew
- 2:57Speaker 4: it was gonna be an entertaining game. They play great defense,
- 3:01Speaker 4: We're playing great defense. We had to challenge our defense
- 3:03Speaker 4: to outperform there as I thought they did. We got
- 3:07Speaker 4: a commitment to the run game. Obviously, they came in
- 3:09Speaker 4: with the leagues leading rusher and the number one offense,
- 3:12Speaker 4: and and our offense had to outrush theirs, and we did,
- 3:15Speaker 4: and that's why the game unfolded the way that it did.
- 3:17Speaker 4: And so I'm just appreciative of the efforts of the guys.
- 3:21Speaker 4: It was a fight, though. Man, these guys are obviously
- 3:24Speaker 4: well coached in the talented group. It didn't happen instantly.
- 3:27Speaker 4: We had to you know, we had to stay in it.
- 3:30Speaker 4: But that's that's life and definitely life in the NFL.
- 3:34Speaker 4: I just like our general demeanor throughout. It wasn't flew
- 3:36Speaker 4: it the whole way. But I didn't feel any blink
- 3:40Speaker 4: or or anybody running away from the challenge. I just
- 3:44Speaker 4: felt guys leaning in on the challenge. And obviously we're
- 3:47Speaker 4: gon have to reproduce that as we move forward. It's
- 3:50Speaker 4: good to be three and zero as we sit here. Obviously,
- 3:53Speaker 4: we sustained some injuries and so forth prior to the
- 3:55Speaker 4: game and in game. But that's ball in life as well.
- 4:00Speaker 4: We spend less time worrying about the unfortunates they got hurt,
- 4:03Speaker 4: and like to spend our time focusing on those that
- 4:06Speaker 4: get an opportunity to elevate and contribute. Sucks for Alex Highsmith.
- 4:11Speaker 4: Excited for Herbert, for example, and none of us are
- 4:15Speaker 4: surprised with the quality of work that he gave us,
- 4:17Speaker 4: and a lot of others. Corey Trice had a hamstring,
- 4:20Speaker 4: Alex Heighsmith had a growing Jalen Warren wasn't able to
- 4:23Speaker 4: finish there. Late in the second half. I pulled him
- 4:26Speaker 4: from the game and just didn't look like he was
- 4:28Speaker 4: running smoothly. We'll evaluate him. Van Jefferson was able to
- 4:32Speaker 4: go back in the latter courses of the game. He
- 4:35Speaker 4: got poked in the eye, his vision cleared up, he
- 4:37Speaker 4: went back to participation. We got some other bumps and
- 4:40Speaker 4: bruises associated with play. Will analyze that and I'll give
- 4:44Speaker 4: you a full report on Tuesday. But just as I
- 4:46Speaker 4: sit here today, I'm thankful for the efforts of the men.
- 4:49Speaker 4: I'm thankful to be three and Ozero, it's good to
- 4:52Speaker 4: be in good contest like this man good on good
- 4:56Speaker 4: five star matchups. If you will then come out on
- 4:58Speaker 4: the other side, it's growth in it. We better learn
- 5:00Speaker 4: the lessons and keep stepping because we got challenges that
- 5:03Speaker 4: await us questions.
- 5:05Speaker 5: You couldn't run the balls, had a hard time for
- 5:08Speaker 5: three or so quarters, but then when you had to
- 5:10Speaker 5: at the end you did.
- 5:11Speaker 3: How satisfying was it to just keep at it and
- 5:13Speaker 3: keep doing it?
- 5:14Speaker 4: You know, they could say the same thing. But as
- 5:17Speaker 4: I mentioned it, styles make fights, and that's how these
- 5:19Speaker 4: two teams and defenses are built. And so we didn't
- 5:22Speaker 4: expect it to be easy sledding at any juncture. But
- 5:25Speaker 4: but we wanted to continue to pound the rock and
- 5:28Speaker 4: hopefully break through and and and it felt like we
- 5:30Speaker 4: did there in the latter portions of the game.
- 5:32Speaker 2: The cattle for the way the defense played a second half.
- 5:35Speaker 4: They just wanted to be the best defense on the field.
- 5:39Speaker 4: You know. They they respond to those things and take
- 5:44Speaker 4: those challenges very personally, and they played like it.
- 5:47Speaker 6: So with the rejuvenated running game, did it encourage you
- 5:51Speaker 6: that and the defense that they spend less time on
- 5:54Speaker 6: the field, thereby helping him kind of get through some situations.
- 5:58Speaker 4: I don't know that our defense worries about that they
- 6:01Speaker 4: got no control over win or how they take the field.
- 6:03Speaker 4: They got all the control on how they get off
- 6:05Speaker 4: the field. That's the life we live. I think it
- 6:08Speaker 4: was reflected when we turned that ball over. Right, when
- 6:10Speaker 4: that ball got tipped up in the air and the intercepted,
- 6:12Speaker 4: you saw the spirit in which our defense took the field.
- 6:14Speaker 4: So we're not looking for comfort, We're not looking to
- 6:16Speaker 4: hide on the sideline. We'll get ourselves off the field
- 6:20Speaker 4: turnover on the.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Tip ball, as you mentioned, But overall, how is you
- 6:24Speaker 1: adjusted to playing the style that compliments the.
- 6:27Speaker 3: Way you play?
- 6:28Speaker 4: I'm sorry who you referring to the tipball, but overall,
- 6:31Speaker 4: how is he adjusted to? He's doing an awesome job
- 6:35Speaker 4: asking doing what we're asking him to do, playing and
- 6:39Speaker 4: playing to win, and so that's appreciated.
- 6:44Speaker 1: Great to hear from coach Tomlin on the Iris Hitters
- 6:46Speaker 1: podcast as the Staders go fleeing on on the season
- 6:49Speaker 1: and before we make our step ahead to look till
- 6:51Speaker 1: week four, Jimmy Latts at each sort of break down
- 6:54Speaker 1: the game and look out the game overall, but also
- 6:56Speaker 1: give a standlight performer to see the team, you know,
- 6:59Speaker 1: come back from being down in the game as one thing,
- 7:02Speaker 1: but this Chargers defense is no joke. And to get
- 7:06Speaker 1: twenty points on the board, I think is at this
- 7:09Speaker 1: time of the year, after seeing what the Charge have
- 7:11Speaker 1: done over the first few weeks of this season, is
- 7:13Speaker 1: a real plus. But more so as well, this defense,
- 7:15Speaker 1: like we've talked about many's time now is just up there.
- 7:19Speaker 1: And this this team look really really good. I mean
- 7:22Speaker 1: from a personal viewpoint, I give my reformer of the
- 7:24Speaker 1: dad to Nahie Harris to see him sort of edge
- 7:27Speaker 1: eyed again on an RB one position yesterday it was
- 7:30Speaker 1: really really good. Seventy yards and eighteen carries and yeah,
- 7:33Speaker 1: look it just it was refreshing to watch, especially when
- 7:36Speaker 1: you were running too the fourth quarter and you sort
- 7:38Speaker 1: of had that feeling, we're gonna take this game by
- 7:40Speaker 1: the neck, just by the just by the neck. And
- 7:44Speaker 1: for to see the team just get over the line,
- 7:46Speaker 1: it was awesome to say, like, even I know some
- 7:48Speaker 1: of you guys are going to talk about Calvin. To
- 7:50Speaker 1: see a guy that we met over here actually do
- 7:53Speaker 1: that was really really cool as well. But just my
- 7:55Speaker 1: positive vibes, like team looks really really good. It's so
- 7:59Speaker 1: hard not to look at the other teams in division
- 8:01Speaker 1: and try and benchmark. I think at the minute, you
- 8:03Speaker 1: just have to go ahead and pick your own thoughts
- 8:05Speaker 1: at a minute for this team, We'll see what happens
- 8:08Speaker 1: at the time of recording One to Night Football tonight
- 8:10Speaker 1: with the Bengals, but certainly we're definitely in a good
- 8:12Speaker 1: position and you gotta just worry about yourself first off.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean first and foremost, Like you said, like
- 8:18Speaker 2: we have to look inwards at the Steelers of the minute,
- 8:20Speaker 2: and I think some of the things that some of
- 8:23Speaker 2: the negatives perhaps that were kind of if you could
- 8:26Speaker 2: have any any negatives, was the slow production of the offense.
- 8:29Speaker 2: And I think we saw Justin Fields take a massive
- 8:32Speaker 2: step last night in terms of, you know, his development
- 8:35Speaker 2: and being the quarterback of this team. There were several
- 8:39Speaker 2: instances where he could see him looking then he wanted
- 8:41Speaker 2: to take off and run, but he hung in the
- 8:43Speaker 2: pocket and he found his receivers downfield. He had a
- 8:46Speaker 2: couple of nice strikes to Calvin Austin, and he got
- 8:50Speaker 2: way more involved in the offense, which I'm delighted to see.
- 8:53Speaker 2: And he had really I think emerged as a potential
- 8:56Speaker 2: number two receiver to George Pickens, and there was a
- 8:59Speaker 2: really nice complet each and down the sideline as well
- 9:01Speaker 2: to Pickings, where again fields you can see his development
- 9:04Speaker 2: as a pocket pass so where he was itching to
- 9:06Speaker 2: take off and run, he had happy feet, but instead
- 9:09Speaker 2: he rolled down and he kind of stayed in the
- 9:11Speaker 2: pocket and he made that strike down the field to
- 9:14Speaker 2: to pick In. So and then of course, I mean
- 9:16Speaker 2: he had two touchdowns. He got points on the board,
- 9:19Speaker 2: so he has a second his second passing touchdown as
- 9:22Speaker 2: a Steeler, but also his first rushing touchdown as a Steeler.
- 9:25Speaker 2: So that was great to see. I mean that that
- 9:27Speaker 2: touchdown pass. I mean the commentator is Tony Romo and
- 9:31Speaker 2: Jim Nance. They kind of called it out on the
- 9:33Speaker 2: broadcast that if that passed across the middle or the
- 9:36Speaker 2: strike down the middle to the Calvin Austin was a
- 9:39Speaker 2: second later or second behind, that was that was six
- 9:42Speaker 2: points the other way. So just that kind of that
- 9:44Speaker 2: awareness and that timing, it was fantastic. And I think
- 9:47Speaker 2: he's really emerged as the He's really developed and emerged
- 9:50Speaker 2: into the into the leader that the studiers believe he
- 9:53Speaker 2: can be, into that player that the Steelers can believe
- 9:56Speaker 2: that that that that he can be so really great
- 9:59Speaker 2: to see his Obviously we talked about Calvin Awson. I
- 10:01Speaker 2: mean he has to be He's definitely one of the
- 10:05Speaker 2: standout players. But I think another standout player for me
- 10:07Speaker 2: on the on the opposite side of the ball is
- 10:09Speaker 2: Nick Herbig. He came in in relief of Alex Heismith,
- 10:13Speaker 2: who I think we're out with a groin injury at
- 10:15Speaker 2: one point during the game. So you never wanted to
- 10:17Speaker 2: see that happen to one of our top players, But
- 10:20Speaker 2: I mean you may as well have had TJ. Water,
- 10:23Speaker 2: Nick or Alex Heismith junior in there when when Herbig
- 10:26Speaker 2: came in and at one early stage in the game
- 10:29Speaker 2: he had a strip sack and justin Herbert and then
- 10:32Speaker 2: he got another sack and later on in the game.
- 10:35Speaker 2: So to have two of the team's five sacks is
- 10:37Speaker 2: just fantastic for a second year player. So look, I
- 10:42Speaker 2: think overall, there's just it's like it's like Dave, there
- 10:44Speaker 2: was a different feeling after that game yesterday. There was
- 10:46Speaker 2: a I don't want to say a sense of relaxation
- 10:49Speaker 2: or relief. I don't think we're quite there yet at
- 10:51Speaker 2: this stage, but I think we're beginning to have a
- 10:53Speaker 2: bit more faith than the guys in, a bit more belief,
- 10:55Speaker 2: which which was great.
- 10:57Speaker 1: I think that's a big word, isn't the dog belief?
- 10:59Speaker 1: And and I doubt, I doubt these guys will ever rest.
- 11:03Speaker 1: Hopefully we get a bit of the chance to relax
- 11:05Speaker 1: a wee bit. But I feel like the way that
- 11:07Speaker 1: the Steelers are winning games, it's just great determination and
- 11:10Speaker 1: I feel like we'll hopefully rest after a big day
- 11:12Speaker 1: out in February, please God. Really cool to see the
- 11:16Speaker 1: team win and great to see so many guys just
- 11:18Speaker 1: pick up that pace stalog and really safe the team
- 11:21Speaker 1: to the next level. In a game where frankly a
- 11:24Speaker 1: lot of analysts thought the Chargers were going to come
- 11:26Speaker 1: in and make a statement, and thankfully that wasn't the case.
- 11:28Speaker 3: No, it was. It was Steelers football, as obtfully finals
- 11:31Speaker 3: Miake just obviously on Justin Fads, I thought easily probably
- 11:35Speaker 3: his best game so far. You know, the first two
- 11:37Speaker 3: was decent, you know, dark the Calvin Austin with a touchdown.
- 11:40Speaker 3: As Jimmy has said, the degree of difficulty fitting not
- 11:42Speaker 3: ball into that type window. If Patrick Mahomes or Lamar
- 11:45Speaker 3: Jackson mixed all through it's being talked about forever. I mean,
- 11:48Speaker 3: made a couple of throws into that tap coverage as well,
- 11:51Speaker 3: but were dropped, and so really impressed TJ. Watts. I mean,
- 11:55Speaker 3: what can we say. Tony Romo is striding in commentary.
- 11:57Speaker 3: I think is the modern day Lawrence Taylor was Yeah, again,
- 12:00Speaker 3: absolutely a standing And then obviously you know you have
- 12:03Speaker 3: the you know Nick Herbig just matching and everything that does.
- 12:07Speaker 3: Jimmy's just said, and there was a lot of players
- 12:10Speaker 3: that you couldn't get the standout performance too. You know,
- 12:12Speaker 3: if her Bag her Big, when a player of Alex
- 12:14Speaker 3: Heismith's and Pac gets injured and need to bring a
- 12:17Speaker 3: player in the quality of Nick Herbig, it really shows
- 12:20Speaker 3: the riches that you have outside on the outside lane
- 12:22Speaker 3: backup positions. So but because Jimmy's going for Nick outside
- 12:26Speaker 3: with Calvin, four receptions, ninety five yards, one touchdown, big
- 12:30Speaker 3: breakout for a game for him, you know, he's been
- 12:32Speaker 3: waiting patiently in the wings for his opportunity and he's
- 12:34Speaker 3: just earned it. He does a lot of work as
- 12:36Speaker 3: a returner, you know, he's a domn good returner of that.
- 12:39Speaker 3: But but most receivers, they want to score touchdowns and
- 12:41Speaker 3: put up big numbers on the fat of play, and
- 12:43Speaker 3: he did at the Follix stats we've seen. Also, you
- 12:46Speaker 3: know the reception he got afterwards, you know, the whole
- 12:48Speaker 3: team rallied around them, just great gradually them. So that
- 12:50Speaker 3: says a lot of what most guys think him a
- 12:52Speaker 3: team yet but so far he's the reason he's missed
- 12:55Speaker 3: on out and he's earned himself a fresh pint of
- 12:57Speaker 3: guinness when he comes back to Baldfast to have to say, and.
- 13:00Speaker 1: He definitely wants to come over again. I think, yeah,
- 13:02Speaker 1: you almost forget this is a great favorite in this podcast.
- 13:05Speaker 1: I think we almost forget we're shotting the different players
- 13:07Speaker 1: weekend week out. And when I had the chance to
- 13:09Speaker 1: chopped him a month ago, he was like, yeah, I
- 13:12Speaker 1: want to come back as quickly as possible. So look
- 13:14Speaker 1: obviously looking forward to seeing him again as well before
- 13:17Speaker 1: we look out the next week or so on such
- 13:19Speaker 1: an important period for this team. That's here from both
- 13:22Speaker 1: Justin Fields and Tej What on the Irish Dadis podcast.
- 13:25Speaker 7: It's never I wish that was me, It's I'm happy
- 13:27Speaker 7: for him. A kid that asked all the right questions
- 13:30Speaker 7: and I'm not surprised by the performance. He went out
- 13:32Speaker 7: there today and played with a lot of swag and confidence.
- 13:35Speaker 6: TJ no I was in Atlanta, who my colleagues for said,
- 13:39Speaker 6: I said, what do you fear about Tej?
- 13:41Speaker 3: What the most?
- 13:41Speaker 6: He said, he may not be the greatest guy, but
- 13:45Speaker 6: he always makes plays when they kneel.
- 13:48Speaker 2: And so I was thinking today, how does it feel like?
- 13:50Speaker 6: Is that a wait on you sometime that people expect
- 13:54Speaker 6: you to kind of rescue the defense when it's needed.
- 13:57Speaker 3: Ah?
- 13:58Speaker 7: No, No, And I mean it's just going out and
- 14:00Speaker 7: playing football and trusting in all of my film study
- 14:02Speaker 7: and my instincts and my abilities to prepare throughout the
- 14:06Speaker 7: week and get my body right to go out and
- 14:09Speaker 7: prepare and make plays in my defense. We have so
- 14:12Speaker 7: many guys on this defense that are capable of making
- 14:14Speaker 7: plays taking games over, and I'm just trying to be
- 14:17Speaker 7: a small part of it.
- 14:18Speaker 6: Their style, if their styles play on offense and the
- 14:21Speaker 6: challenges that presents.
- 14:22Speaker 3: How to feel that you responded to that as a defense?
- 14:25Speaker 5: Good?
- 14:25Speaker 7: Obviously stopping the run, I don't know what. I don't
- 14:27Speaker 7: have the stats up here, but it didn't seem like
- 14:28Speaker 7: they ran for a lot. We were able to shut
- 14:30Speaker 7: them down in the second half. Obviously the back of
- 14:32Speaker 7: quarterback went in and when it gets to one dimensional spots,
- 14:35Speaker 7: we have so many, so much depth on this defense
- 14:38Speaker 7: in the back end and up front that we feel
- 14:41Speaker 7: very confident with our pass rushing the guys in the
- 14:43Speaker 7: back end to make some big plays and we need it.
- 14:45Speaker 2: You mentioned having fun out there. You guys held up
- 14:48Speaker 2: to the zero yards in the second half. Just how
- 14:50Speaker 2: much pride is a.
- 14:51Speaker 7: Move do you take in that huge?
- 14:53Speaker 1: Uh?
- 14:54Speaker 7: This week was two trains on the track. I mean
- 14:56Speaker 7: two top defenses coming in. We know they love to
- 14:59Speaker 7: run the ball, love stopping the run, and uh, haven't
- 15:03Speaker 7: looked at the film yet, but it seems like, uh,
- 15:05Speaker 7: we outperform today. But that's a hell of a football team.
- 15:07Speaker 7: And uh, it means nothing if we don't get back
- 15:09Speaker 7: in the lab and learn from all this and keep
- 15:12Speaker 7: going too lot.
- 15:14Speaker 2: Fourth round pack I think probably overlooked because of his size.
- 15:18Speaker 2: Why is he able to have success in spite of
- 15:21Speaker 2: you know, his stature.
- 15:23Speaker 7: That kid has supreme confidence in himself. You can't tell
- 15:26Speaker 7: him anything, and I respect the heck out of it.
- 15:28Speaker 7: And uh, he's gonna do everything that he possibly can
- 15:31Speaker 7: to perform. He's gonna ask every question, he's gonna turn
- 15:34Speaker 7: over every stone and uh just bust his tail, and uh,
- 15:38Speaker 7: I respect the heck out of Nick and I'm glad
- 15:40Speaker 7: that he had the day that he did today.
- 15:42Speaker 2: How much have you seen him grow since last year
- 15:45Speaker 2: to this year?
- 15:46Speaker 3: A lot?
- 15:46Speaker 7: I mean even him Keanu, just those second year players, Joey,
- 15:51Speaker 7: you see the jump because you're so much more comfortable
- 15:54Speaker 7: out there. You're not trying to You're not just out
- 15:56Speaker 7: there saying, uh, I have the curl flat this drop.
- 15:58Speaker 7: It's like, Okay, I know what I have. Now, I
- 16:01Speaker 7: can hear, I can I can use all of my
- 16:03Speaker 7: senses and diagnose what I think is potentially happening on
- 16:07Speaker 7: this play. And that's why I think you see that
- 16:08Speaker 7: jump from those guys from year one to year two.
- 16:11Speaker 7: But with that being said, it's because they want to
- 16:14Speaker 7: learn and he's capable of doing it. And he's I
- 16:16Speaker 7: mean able to apply what he learns to the game field,
- 16:19Speaker 7: which is huge. I'm sick of talking about her.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Let's just stop all this right now.
- 16:26Speaker 7: Jesus z.
- 16:28Speaker 3: B. What about you guys proving that you the best
- 16:31Speaker 3: defense on the field today? Was that a big rallying
- 16:34Speaker 3: cry for your.
- 16:35Speaker 2: Group coming in.
- 16:36Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 16:37Speaker 7: We have a confident group. Obviously, we knew they were
- 16:39Speaker 7: a top defense. We don't do a lot of talking.
- 16:42Speaker 7: We just like to go out in the field and
- 16:43Speaker 7: play and have fun. And I feel like we did that.
- 16:46Speaker 2: Today's impact what you guys do.
- 16:49Speaker 3: I don't know if.
- 16:51Speaker 7: It's huge to be able to rotate, to be able
- 16:53Speaker 7: to be fresh. I mean, there wasn't even that many
- 16:55Speaker 7: plays in the first half, even I think it was
- 16:57Speaker 7: the third quarter wasn't a lot of plays either. But
- 17:00Speaker 7: when you do have that rotation up front, uh and
- 17:03Speaker 7: in the back end, it just anybody can make a
- 17:05Speaker 7: play on this defense, and everybody is training and preparing
- 17:09Speaker 7: like they are the starter, and that's why you see
- 17:11Speaker 7: so many guys out there making plays.
- 17:12Speaker 3: You drive right after the Chargers you scored your first.
- 17:16Speaker 6: One the first half, Yeah, it was huge.
- 17:18Speaker 5: I think you know, the offense, we did a great
- 17:20Speaker 5: job responding and we knew what kind of game it
- 17:22Speaker 5: was gonna be. So, you know, just proud of the
- 17:24Speaker 5: guys out there for you know, responding like we did,
- 17:26Speaker 5: especially after they scored that first touchdown like you said,
- 17:28Speaker 5: and going down and putting the drive together.
- 17:31Speaker 3: So it was good one that touchdown to Calvin.
- 17:33Speaker 2: Uh what you're looking for there?
- 17:35Speaker 3: Can you talk about what happened and and just of
- 17:37Speaker 3: course how big that play was.
- 17:39Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, of course huge play. They were just
- 17:41Speaker 5: in zone quarters and you really just you know high
- 17:44Speaker 5: lowing that you know, hook defender. The hook defender took
- 17:46Speaker 5: GP underneath and you know Calvin was right by right
- 17:49Speaker 5: behind him. So you know, great play call in that situation.
- 17:51Speaker 5: Of course, you know you always appreciate the yak the
- 17:54Speaker 5: yards after the catch that Calvin got us, and of
- 17:56Speaker 5: course it was a huge play for us.
- 17:58Speaker 2: You stick to what and Scotty Miller brought to the offense.
- 18:03Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean those guys definitely stepped up today. You know,
- 18:05Speaker 5: Calvin doing everything on offense and uh special teams as well.
- 18:09Speaker 5: And then you know Scottie too. You know he didn't
- 18:11Speaker 5: I don't think he played last week, so just coming
- 18:14Speaker 5: in he had a big third down conversion for US,
- 18:16Speaker 5: broke and tackle with some yards. So they both played
- 18:18Speaker 5: great today.
- 18:19Speaker 2: You guys threw some.
- 18:20Speaker 4: Ext they were throt loitches that you guys and you
- 18:23Speaker 4: guys were prepared for some of those strikes over the middle.
- 18:25Speaker 2: You had the third third down conversion and the touchdown.
- 18:27Speaker 7: How does it feel to execute something like you guys
- 18:29Speaker 7: planned it out, saw it and got that big plays.
- 18:32Speaker 5: Yeah, it feels great executing. You know, we were preparing
- 18:34Speaker 5: for it all week on you know, certain looks we
- 18:36Speaker 5: would get in certain situations, and you know, like you said,
- 18:38Speaker 5: we did a great job executing it. Aline did a
- 18:41Speaker 5: great job today and you know, holding up and receivers
- 18:44Speaker 5: just being at the right time at the right place.
- 18:46Speaker 2: We heard all week that the dam was about to
- 18:48Speaker 2: break on the offense.
- 18:49Speaker 7: You guys stopped short of scoring that, But is this
- 18:51Speaker 7: what that looks like when that dam is in the
- 18:53Speaker 7: process of breaking.
- 18:55Speaker 1: Yeah, it is.
- 18:55Speaker 5: And I think we coulda score one more touchdown if
- 18:58Speaker 5: I didn't throw that interception. So, like we said, we're
- 19:01Speaker 5: just gonna keep working and keep getting better and keep improving.
- 19:03Speaker 2: What did you see on that?
- 19:05Speaker 5: Yeah, he just smashed the sticker out way too fast,
- 19:07Speaker 5: and you know, I just shouldn't have thrown the ball,
- 19:10Speaker 5: you know, got tipped. But uh, at the end of
- 19:12Speaker 5: the day, either should have worked the other side of
- 19:14Speaker 5: the field, thrown it to the flat cause they were
- 19:15Speaker 5: so soft, or you know, just throw the ball away,
- 19:18Speaker 5: especially when we were already you know, know, in field
- 19:20Speaker 5: goal range at the forty yard line. That can't happen.
- 19:22Speaker 5: I can't have it against us. Yeah.
- 19:24Speaker 3: Do you feel like you're proving guarantee tractors were off
- 19:27Speaker 3: tractors from Chicago days.
- 19:29Speaker 5: I'm not really worried about that. I'm more so into
- 19:32Speaker 5: proving you know myself, you know, right, I know, you
- 19:34Speaker 5: know what kind of player I am. You know, I've
- 19:37Speaker 5: haven't changed kind of my whole life. So at the
- 19:40Speaker 5: end of the day, Uh, my teammates help med be great.
- 19:42Speaker 5: So shout out to them, Shout out to our defense,
- 19:44Speaker 5: Shout out to everybody else on the offense for pushing
- 19:47Speaker 5: me each and every day I practice, and you know,
- 19:49Speaker 5: it's just a credit to them. So I'm definitely, you know, glad,
- 19:51Speaker 5: and just just feeling good to be in this position,
- 19:55Speaker 5: to be honest with you. So.
- 19:56Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 19:56Speaker 5: So you talk about improving your three lives and tries
- 20:00Speaker 5: a feel a little longer for a touchdown than the
- 20:01Speaker 5: bronto'clock out.
- 20:02Speaker 4: What do you feel like you improved on as this
- 20:04Speaker 4: game went on and how did you make some adjustments
- 20:06Speaker 4: to finish.
- 20:07Speaker 2: Strong like you did?
- 20:08Speaker 5: Yeah, Uh, the first half we didn't run the ball
- 20:10Speaker 5: like we wanted to. So, you know, second half, especially
- 20:13Speaker 5: late in the game, and we had to run the ball. Uh,
- 20:14Speaker 5: the running backs and the olne did a great job.
- 20:17Speaker 5: Even in situations where we knew we had to run
- 20:18Speaker 5: the ball, they did a great job executing. NOTJ and CP.
- 20:22Speaker 5: They were hitting the whole great and you know, we
- 20:23Speaker 5: were getting first downs at the first down. So anytime
- 20:26Speaker 5: you can get that run game going and you know,
- 20:29Speaker 5: just just helps us out overall.
- 20:30Speaker 3: So good does it feel for.
- 20:32Speaker 2: The offense to put together a performance like this against
- 20:34Speaker 2: such a.
- 20:34Speaker 5: Good defense like the Chargers, Yeah, it feels great. We
- 20:37Speaker 5: kind of knew what we were up against. Uh, two
- 20:39Speaker 5: great edge rushers and uh, I think they were ranked
- 20:40Speaker 5: number one defense in the NFL coming into this thing, so, uh,
- 20:43Speaker 5: we knew we had a big test in front of us.
- 20:45Speaker 5: But you know, we have a pretty good defense that
- 20:47Speaker 5: we go up against every day as well. So just
- 20:49Speaker 5: going up against those guys on the other side of
- 20:51Speaker 5: the ball on our team, UH just kind of prepares
- 20:53Speaker 5: us for this moment. And like I said, everybody came
- 20:55Speaker 5: out executed and we put points up on the board.
- 20:57Speaker 5: So felt great.
- 21:00Speaker 1: To hear from the guys after a big win. The
- 21:01Speaker 1: Steelers improving, the Free and the King's currently on top
- 21:05Speaker 1: of the AFC North and one thing that will not
- 21:07Speaker 1: change over the next few days exists the Steelers will
- 21:10Speaker 1: enter thro Park and the Hogan Suite for a solight
- 21:13Speaker 1: watch party top of the AFC North. An unbeaten going
- 21:16Speaker 1: into Week four against Indianapolis Colts. Yeah, James Fire Willie Parker,
- 21:21Speaker 1: both two times the world champions coming to Ireland this week.
- 21:25Speaker 1: Really really excited obviously for this watch party and dabog
- 21:28Speaker 1: just before we look at the Colts. As Jimmy said,
- 21:30Speaker 1: there is the real height of expectation around this team
- 21:34Speaker 1: on a general scale, and look, let's see what happens.
- 21:37Speaker 1: We hopefully we'll see just a Steelers winn on someday.
- 21:43Speaker 1: And I think regardless of what happens, you know, outside
- 21:46Speaker 1: of the whole fan point of it, it's fantastic to
- 21:48Speaker 1: see this event happen in the in Crowe Park and
- 21:52Speaker 1: you must be like a child in Christmas, man, it is.
- 21:55Speaker 3: It's an obsolete just even being involved, and it's just
- 21:58Speaker 3: an absolute honor because you'll look at the the heights
- 22:01Speaker 3: of where the games come from, I mean, and the
- 22:04Speaker 3: fact that the Rumney family have come over here and
- 22:06Speaker 3: they've shown a great interest not only in you know,
- 22:08Speaker 3: spreading the word about American football, but also their interests
- 22:13Speaker 3: in our culture, our games, and obviously looking to spread
- 22:15Speaker 3: that as well worldwide. So I've just been really happy
- 22:18Speaker 3: and really impressed with what the Runey family specifically I've done,
- 22:21Speaker 3: and obviously what the Host Stealers organization have come over.
- 22:23Speaker 3: They're willing to sort of sat you know everything, having
- 22:27Speaker 3: the year, this is what we want to do. Staffs
- 22:28Speaker 3: have been taken to build towards that. It is also important,
- 22:31Speaker 3: so their their willingness to show interest and obviously spreading
- 22:36Speaker 3: the game on all our old's been fantastic and I've
- 22:38Speaker 3: I've had not but hygh praise to say about it.
- 22:40Speaker 3: And who knows, you know, maybe the next Star wide
- 22:42Speaker 3: receiver might come from Candy down. He might come from
- 22:44Speaker 3: Candy their own I'd like to think so. But yeah,
- 22:47Speaker 3: I know, it's been an absolute amazing thing to be
- 22:50Speaker 3: a part of. And I can't wait for Sunday. So
- 22:52Speaker 3: it's just going to be It's gonna be a blast,
- 22:53Speaker 3: can't with.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Just just just looking forward to Sunday. I can't but
- 22:57Speaker 1: echo what you said, but just what you both said,
- 22:59Speaker 1: there lots just sort of initial thoughts. We will sort
- 23:02Speaker 1: of maybe maybe a regroup later in the week. But
- 23:05Speaker 1: this Colts team, Jimmy, get their first win of the
- 23:07Speaker 1: weekend or sorry, first win of the season at the
- 23:09Speaker 1: weekend there against the Bears. And we can talk about
- 23:12Speaker 1: the Bears the College come home, but the reality is
- 23:14Speaker 1: they went out the Colts, they won the game. And
- 23:16Speaker 1: one of the biggest sort of initial signs for me
- 23:18Speaker 1: is the fact that Richardson White, he's a very athletic,
- 23:20Speaker 1: very mobile quarterback. He can flow picks on the defense.
- 23:25Speaker 1: Maybe be ready for that. But that being said, Colts
- 23:27Speaker 1: fans at home in Indianapolis are going to be ready
- 23:30Speaker 1: for this team. They're going to be expecting the Colts
- 23:32Speaker 1: team to go out and win. And you sort of
- 23:34Speaker 1: hope it's not a trap game for Pittsburgh, but you
- 23:36Speaker 1: would expect over the last few weeks then they've gotten
- 23:38Speaker 1: really put up performance.
- 23:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I'm surprised, Michael, honestly that are that
- 23:42Speaker 2: our dbs didn't have any interceptions. I know there was
- 23:45Speaker 2: a couple of close calls there. I think Patrick Queen
- 23:49Speaker 2: might have had a close miss yesterday, and I know
- 23:51Speaker 2: there was definitely an interception that win went in and
- 23:55Speaker 2: out of hands. So given our DB's performance over the
- 24:00Speaker 2: past couple of weeks, you know, two picks in each
- 24:02Speaker 2: of the first two games, that would indicate that the
- 24:05Speaker 2: trend is going to continue. I suppose giving Richardson's propensity
- 24:09Speaker 2: at the minute to kind of put a lot of
- 24:11Speaker 2: air under the balls, I think we should have our
- 24:15Speaker 2: corners and safety should be absolutely feasting this Sunday. But
- 24:19Speaker 2: I think it's it's going to be more of the
- 24:20Speaker 2: same for our defense. I mean, just and I know
- 24:23Speaker 2: justin Herbert yesterday wasn't one hundred percent and there were
- 24:28Speaker 2: different factors that play and we played against the backup
- 24:30Speaker 2: quarterback for a large portion of the game. But I
- 24:33Speaker 2: think defense is just going to go and do what
- 24:35Speaker 2: defense does and have been doing all season long, and
- 24:37Speaker 2: let's get off of the quarterback and force and to
- 24:39Speaker 2: make mistakes. And then I think on the ground, obviously
- 24:43Speaker 2: Jonathan Taylor that that that talented running back need to
- 24:47Speaker 2: swallow him up. And again looking back to the past
- 24:50Speaker 2: two games, we faced some really good running backs and
- 24:52Speaker 2: the likes of d John Robinson. Then we faced JK.
- 24:55Speaker 2: Dobbins and gust Edwards yesterday. They didn't do a huge
- 24:58Speaker 2: amount of damage on the ground. I mean, our lineback
- 25:00Speaker 2: course seem to be pretty much well able to contain them.
- 25:03Speaker 2: So I'm very confident in what the offense can do, sorry,
- 25:07Speaker 2: what the defense can do, and I think it's just
- 25:10Speaker 2: a case of week by week making small improvements and
- 25:14Speaker 2: becoming the team that we can on the offense. Offensive
- 25:18Speaker 2: side of the ball. I would like to see our
- 25:19Speaker 2: running backs get into the end zone. That's something that
- 25:22Speaker 2: I know Nagie Harris did almost get in yesterday towards
- 25:25Speaker 2: the end of the game, and he very wisely knelt down.
- 25:28Speaker 2: Whether it be on purpose or not, will give him
- 25:31Speaker 2: the benefit of the doubt. But get the running get
- 25:34Speaker 2: the running backs into the end zone. Get George Pick
- 25:36Speaker 2: at the touchdown. Please God, the man has earned it
- 25:38Speaker 2: after the performances he's put in in the past three weeks.
- 25:42Speaker 2: And just keep building towards towards New Orleans in February.
- 25:46Speaker 1: Let's see what happens. Really really excited for this weekend, Dobbill,
- 25:48Speaker 1: Just finally, you're looking forward to this matchup against the
- 25:51Speaker 1: Culls and he's seeing over the first Sea leaks.
- 25:53Speaker 3: Yeah. Absolutely, I look forward to all the Steelers team,
- 25:56Speaker 3: but this one specifically, obviously because where we're going to be.
- 25:59Speaker 3: And yeah, I watched bits of the Bears game and Richardson,
- 26:04Speaker 3: I have to say, coming out of college, and there's
- 26:07Speaker 3: a lot of hype around him, and I'm watching him.
- 26:09Speaker 3: It's very erotic, very mistake prone. Of course, we knowbody
- 26:12Speaker 3: brings scrambling wise, but I think there'll be a lot
- 26:16Speaker 3: of opportunities to put him under pressure, just the echo
- 26:19Speaker 3: everything Jimmy said again. And Jonathan Taylor is obviously a
- 26:22Speaker 3: great running back. You know, he's been sort of plagued
- 26:24Speaker 3: with injuries. And I just saw obviously watching how we
- 26:27Speaker 3: dept with JK. Dobbins and Guss Hadwards, we were outstanding.
- 26:30Speaker 3: I mean, nobody's gonna run on our defense all year,
- 26:33Speaker 3: so I think that's probably how it will end up.
- 26:36Speaker 3: But yeah, offensively realist. I don't want to keep harpering
- 26:40Speaker 3: on about it because I do feel like a broken
- 26:42Speaker 3: record here, but I still feel that there is room
- 26:44Speaker 3: to improve. You know, granted we do appear to be
- 26:46Speaker 3: improving week by week gradually, but when you have a
- 26:48Speaker 3: defense that basically seems like a zero room for improvement.
- 26:51Speaker 3: We have to nitpick for the offense unfortunately. So one
- 26:54Speaker 3: thing I will say after last week that I'm clear
- 26:57Speaker 3: I was clearly right about last week Mike Tomlin knuckling
- 26:59Speaker 3: down and Will Panalley. We had ten Againstanver. We reduced
- 27:02Speaker 3: that down to three this week, and look what happened.
- 27:04Speaker 3: So we struggle hit the twenty points in the first
- 27:06Speaker 3: two weeks. Now we've had twenty points. Let's go and
- 27:08Speaker 3: get thirday and next week you get suppotes. You know,
- 27:10Speaker 3: we'll obviously get a chance to break that down during
- 27:12Speaker 3: the week, maybe at a better debt. But let's keep
- 27:14Speaker 3: this train of positivity going. So that's what I'm really
- 27:16Speaker 3: thinking about.
- 27:17Speaker 1: If you would like to join the positive the positively
- 27:20Speaker 1: trained folks, use hashtag Staels Ireland and we will pop
- 27:23Speaker 1: in towards the end of the week. Really excited obviously, folks.
- 27:26Speaker 1: You can get all the information in regards to the
- 27:28Speaker 1: watch party and you can see a lot of stuff
- 27:29Speaker 1: that's happening on the island of the island this week
- 27:31Speaker 1: by looking at the Steelers social channels that's Steelers Ireland
- 27:34Speaker 1: on x and also on Instagram as well. There's that
- 27:39Speaker 1: much going on. I forgot we were on Instagram as well.
- 27:41Speaker 1: Lads really appreciate the time after such a great win.
- 27:45Speaker 1: I am really really looking forward to this weekend from myself,
- 27:47Speaker 1: from Jimmy Fromdavaug Folks, have the great week. We will
- 27:50Speaker 1: chat to you Varius soon.
- 27:51Speaker 2: Here we go, Here we go.
