- 0:26it is Jeff Legwald. Tom In a Friday afternoon, he joins us on
- 0:28the ramos Law Hotline car accident You need ramos Law medical doctor and attorney.
- 0:33Visit ramos Law dot com. Jeff Legwald with us on a Friday, Leggy,
- 0:38how are you man? I'm great? Are you guys? We're doing
- 0:41well? Leggy Okay, I'm gonna have a non quarterback portion of the conversation
- 0:47when it comes to the draft. So I think Joe Waltz going seven to
- 0:51Tennessee after that tackle is kind of up in the air. You got Fuagga.
- 0:58You have jac Latham, who we have talked about for the Broncos.
- 1:03If they were to go tackle, what's George Peyton brought up as a possibility
- 1:06the other day. If they were to go tackle at twelve? Number one,
- 1:10who is best fit? And number two? How do you make that
- 1:14guy fit in his rookie year? Well? I mean, I think if
- 1:19you're go tackle there, you're thinking I think they're thinking you get a little
- 1:26time before a decision on bulls has to be made, or you know,
- 1:33I think because of mcglinchy's contract the plan, that he's very positioned specific,
- 1:42at least I think he's various positioned position specific that you're thinking it's a left
- 1:49it's a left tackle, and I know that there will be some value of
- 1:53the board there for them, but it would still surprise me, I think
- 2:00because he also said yesterday George Peyton, that pick has to hit and it
- 2:07has to be an impact player, which which to me says impact player in
- 2:12the short term. So you could certainly get a long term solution at tackle
- 2:19there, but that's not the immediate impact unless you're gonna move Bowles, you
- 2:23know, in some fashion upon the arrival of the new tackle. I guess
- 2:30that's that's where I come down on it. All right, Jeff, you
- 2:34know what, I'm just gonna get out of the way because I like it
- 2:37when you and Nate have a hearty, robust debate. All right, Nate,
- 2:39tell him who your guy is at quarterback and let me just hear the
- 2:43give and take, because honestly, I don't. I don't. I'm not
- 2:46out on your dude, but he's one of the guys I've got negative reviews
- 2:49about for multiple people. Oh, I like Drake May. Leggy, where
- 2:52do you come down on Drake May? You know, I personally think he
- 2:58won't be there when lebron because they're picking. I can't imagine. I've also
- 3:01put him deeper deeper in the round or you know, I had twenty one
- 3:08first round grades. I gave him one of the first second round grades at
- 3:15quarterback. You know, obviously physicality he is. You know, if you
- 3:22drew it up on a drawing board, that's what a quarterback looks like.
- 3:25I think developmentally, he's there's some work to do there, and he's a
- 3:31little behind, you know, a couple of the other guys, and in
- 3:35my mind, but he's certainly at least the information I have right now,
- 3:40I would be stunned if he was even an option for the Broncos at twelve.
- 3:46He's going top three, right, you know, I still yeah,
- 3:52I mean, we all the conventional wisdom is that four quarterbacks are going in
- 3:57the top five picks, and you know, I just continue to offer that
- 4:03that will be historical. And I had nobody tell me this season that this
- 4:10was the best quarterback class they had ever seen or anything close to that.
- 4:15So I still struggle with on draft day, will this very sort of normal
- 4:23regular quarterback class be drafted in a historical fashion. But you know, an
- 4:30awful lot of people sure think it could happen. So yeah, I think.
- 4:34I think the possibility of four quarterbacks going in the top five picks is
- 4:39very real, and I think I think people around the league are mocking it
- 4:44so they're ready in case it happens. It's just never happened before. And
- 4:48you know, five quarterbacks in the top twelve has only happened one other time
- 4:54ever since the merger in nineteen seventy, and that was in nineteen ninety nine.
- 5:00Did you grade JJ McCarthy above Drake May? One spot? Really close
- 5:05grade for me, And most of it is we don't have the data on
- 5:11McCarthy, right, you know, it's it's a projection pick, and I
- 5:15factor in, you know, the sort of the possibility of ascension for the
- 5:23player. How much room to grow is there? Because I believe that's part
- 5:27of the pro equation, and I think there's just more room for him to
- 5:31grow than than Drake May right now. I mean May at twenty one years
- 5:35old, big athletic freak. I think he's only going to get stronger.
- 5:40My here's the thing, and Jeff, I don't disagree with you that I
- 5:45think that Drake May is more of a project. He needs to be drafted
- 5:48by a team that is going to be fully committed to him and he play
- 5:54him right away. That's my concern. A team that plays him right away
- 5:58will not get the fruits of their labor because can he play through the issues
- 6:02with his footwork. That that's going to be my biggest question on him.
- 6:08But Andy and I talked about this yesterday and i'd like to get your read
- 6:11on this. On Drake May, I think that his I think his arm,
- 6:17I think his his accuracy, his athleticism is good, but it's not
- 6:23elite. But I think that Sean Payton would be intrigued enough by those items
- 6:28and he would look at, okay, some of the pre snaper recognition stuff,
- 6:31maybe missing some of the layup throws, forcing things, And I think
- 6:36it's fair to wonder a bad North Carolina team how much was he forcing things?
- 6:40But I believe that Sean Payton. A coach like Sean Payton would view
- 6:44a prospect like Drake May and say, there's a hell of a lot of
- 6:47things this guy has that just don't grow on trees. I can coach up
- 6:51the other stuff and let me tag onto that Leggy. We've heard a lot
- 6:56of people say bo Nicks is the ideal fit for what Payton wants to do.
- 7:00Are they saying that because they don't think May would be there? Given
- 7:03the true get Let's just isolate it to two. If Nixon May's meant miraculously
- 7:10are both staying there? And I say that form May at twelve, which
- 7:14way do you think he's going for Sean Payton? I mean May is a
- 7:17better prospect, So you know, I mean my my comp for May and
- 7:24my evaluation not in terms of size or you know, physical things, but
- 7:30he decision making and his eyes are what concerned me, and particularly in the
- 7:38red zone. And my comp is is sort of Jay Cutler, who was
- 7:42the SEC player of the Year at Belle was last year at Bandy and he
- 7:47had to play a lot the same way May has had to play to lift
- 7:53his team. And Jay never really left those red zone decision making issues completely
- 8:00in the past, no matter how good his coach was. Now, Mike
- 8:03Shanahan has always contended if things had worked out and and Pat Bollen didn't fire
- 8:07him, that he believed he could iron all those things out. But we
- 8:15never saw it in Jay's career, even as gifted physically as Jay was,
- 8:18and that that would be my concern. You know again, you know sportswriter
- 8:24guy talking about the quarterback guys, guys from Chicago used Timmy a lot when
- 8:33we're when we're taught, when we're discussing, you know things. But now
- 8:37that's my concern with Drake man it. You know, look, I gave
- 8:41him my second grade of the second round. That's not like a bad prospect.
- 8:46That's a really good prospect. So it's not like I'm dinging the guy
- 8:52or anything like that. I think bo Nicks would be a huge overreach in
- 8:56the first round at twelve, and almost virtually everyone I've talked to in the
- 9:00league believes the same thing. Here's my question on bon Nicks, Leggy and
- 9:03the evaluation there in trying to project what he'll be as a pro. His
- 9:07average depth of target when he was at Oregon, We've never seen a quality
- 9:13NFL prospect that had numbers that minuscule, that was constantly throwing the ball that
- 9:20shallow. And again, I know, this is what is what pro day
- 9:22workouts and for this is what combine is for all of those things. But
- 9:28like, how do you take a prospect like Boon Nicks and project what he'll
- 9:31be as a pro when he's going to be asked to, you know,
- 9:33occasionally fling the ball down the field or at least to the intermediate level.
- 9:39Yeah no, I mean again, you're working without data. That's why evaluators
- 9:45love evaluating SEC players because you answer more questions. They face better competition every
- 9:52week, they face better schemes every week, they face everything that is more
- 9:58closely relate to the NFL game every single week than any other player in any
- 10:05other league in the country. And you don't have the data with Nicks and
- 10:09some scouts, whether it's fair or not, it probably isn't fair because of
- 10:13how well he played at Oregon, but some scouts can't shake how it all
- 10:18looked in the SEC. You know, when he was playing in the SEC.
- 10:24So all of those things are part of the evaluation. But I think
- 10:28it's the number I've heard is sixty percent of his throws line of scrimmage or
- 10:33behind the line of scrimmage, and that is enormously high total. All right,
- 10:37Jeff, I got to ask you, you know, the mocks are
- 10:39making the round. Apparently there's this leaked proto type of the Broncos. Jersey's
- 10:45not exactly loving what I've seen. I know you've hinted that you did get
- 10:48a glance at some of these. Note I'm not sure anyone's actually seen the
- 10:52final product. I guess a. I know you're busy with what you got
- 10:56going on draft wise. Have you been able to see what's been making the
- 11:01rounds on Twitter as the Broncos new uniforms. If so, how close are
- 11:05they to what you think they're gonna be? Uh? You know, I
- 11:09haven't seen much on social media today. It pretty hard on getting my stuff
- 11:20done, But you know, and I guess I'm I'm I'm an odd duck.
- 11:24I know, but the uniforms that really doesn't move the needle for me
- 11:28much. But you know, I uh, you know, I've seen a
- 11:35few early prototypes that had some described to me and uh again, I I
- 11:41they were looking for a change, but not too big a one and that's
- 11:45how it's always been praise to me. But I have not seen the ones
- 11:48making the rounds. One. We've got white and blue triangles on the on
- 11:52the home ones. They're on the sleeves, so like top of the sleeves
- 11:56white with almost a blue stripe below it, and then the rest of the
- 12:01sleeves orange. What do you come down on triangles in the top five shyeah,
- 12:05yeah, you know, geometry, Uh, you know, always big
- 12:09for for for geometry, but uh uh you know, And that was one
- 12:18I thought, like wedges, like wedges on the shoulder, Yeah, that
- 12:22was that was a version that had been described to me pretty early in the
- 12:26process. Are the wedges of orange cheese that are that are on the sleeve
- 12:31because I believe the packers they've got a monopoly on that more cheddar, more
- 12:35cheddar. But you know, and I think you know, again there was
- 12:39there was some leaning early on by the folks at Nike and everything that you
- 12:45know, it would have a little flavor of of the older Bronco uniforms in
- 12:50there somewhere, and those triangles or whatever. We're part of the very first
- 12:56or some of the very first jerseys, So wouldn't shock me well, Jeffery
- 13:00reminds me of a uniform. There was that bucking Bronco uniform they had that
- 13:03the Raiders just absolutely slaughtered them in back in ninety three Wave Phillips first year.
- 13:09You're giving me nightmare flashbacks to that thing. By the way, not
- 13:13a fan. Are these going to be fanatics manufactured? And if so,
- 13:18we'll be able to see the tucked in portion of the jersey through the pants,
- 13:20so it looks like the players are all wearing diapers. Yeah, that
- 13:24would be a huge a lot of angry guys. That'd be a problem if
- 13:28that works out. Really small numbers on the back numbers, and that's like
- 13:35censor day broadcasts. By the way, did you guys have it as see?
- 13:41This is this is a deep pull, I know, but did you
- 13:43guys have it to see? So Nike's already getting all this heat from Major
- 13:46League Baseball? Then they they they did the release on the track and field
- 13:50uniforms. It was all the Olympics uniforms for this summer and like the the
- 13:54speedo sort of bikini bottom things for the track and field team. Yeah,
- 14:00they're pretty sexy. Well that those are high contegs. Some of the female
- 14:03athletes have said we can't wear these. Yeah, they're gonna Hey, we're
- 14:07gonna have to combine. Spill out happening again, Chris, you have to
- 14:11do some wax before you go wearing that platform. Dude, you have to
- 14:13get a kenon. Barbie's what you're gonna have to do. Welcome to Paris.
- 14:20That's what well done. We wait, Jeff, everybody see that one
- 14:31coming out of Leggy. Leggy were six days away? Who they taking in
- 14:35the first? Tell them before we let you go exactly in the first we
- 14:39got three more times to ask you. Who is it today? Timmy,
- 14:45I'm still thinking edge rusher is the strength of the board right then, Jared,
- 14:48especially if the quarterbacks go four quarterbacks go on the top four or five
- 14:52or seven picks, Uh, edge rusher, They're gonna be looking at an
- 14:58edge rusher and maybe even have a crack at bowers. Jared Verse, all
- 15:01right, there we go, give me some bowers. Uh. Leggy good
- 15:03stuff is always buddy, Thank you, thanks Bells. We'll see it.
