- 0:00Speaker 1: How helpful is this going to be to Andrew Cuomo
- 0:03Speaker 1: to have Trump and mask behind him.
- 0:05Speaker 2: To Andrew Cuomo, I don't think very. I think he
- 0:08Speaker 2: has done plenty of work himself to dig the hole
- 0:10Speaker 2: deep enough that it's pretty obvious he's not going to win.
- 0:13Speaker 3: You know.
- 0:13Speaker 2: For Zorn's campaign, my group Leaders We Deserve was the
- 0:15Speaker 2: largest contributor to the independent expenditure in support of him,
- 0:18Speaker 2: spending three hundred thousand dollars in support. And what I think, Well,
- 0:22Speaker 2: there's a lot of debates going on right now in
- 0:24Speaker 2: our party about do we go left, do we go
- 0:25Speaker 2: to the right, do we go to the center. There
- 0:27Speaker 2: is a lot to be learned from this race, not
- 0:29Speaker 2: necessarily about policy, not no other city is like New
- 0:31Speaker 2: York City, but a lot about the power of listening.
- 0:35Speaker 2: One of the things that Zoran did in this race
- 0:36Speaker 2: is he went to voters and asked them what do
- 0:38Speaker 2: you want to see in your mayor and listen to
- 0:42Speaker 2: them and had a clear message around affordability and whether
- 0:44Speaker 2: it's the governor's race in Virginia, the governor's race in
- 0:47Speaker 2: New Jersey, or the mayoral race in New York, or
- 0:50Speaker 2: other races around the country, there's a clear through line,
- 0:52Speaker 2: even if some of them are more moderate and more
- 0:53Speaker 2: to the left of talking about affordability and not just saying, oh,
- 0:56Speaker 2: we need to lower prices, but saying what they're actually
- 0:59Speaker 2: going to do on it. And it's a clear sign
- 1:01Speaker 2: in mind you that there's real generational change coming in
- 1:03Speaker 2: our party. Because the whole thing we didn't talk about
- 1:05Speaker 2: when it was about Trump versus Biden is that the
- 1:07Speaker 2: reason why we even have to debate that is because
- 1:09Speaker 2: of how damn old they are.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Well, do you think that there's some truth to what
- 1:13Speaker 1: he's saying?
- 1:13Speaker 4: Penny?
- 1:13Speaker 1: The idea that you know, Republicans have been saying, oh,
- 1:17Speaker 1: he's a socialist, he's a socialist, as if that was
- 1:19Speaker 1: going to be enough to stop mom Donnie. But really
- 1:22Speaker 1: what voters are responding to is what mom Donnie is saying.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Are Republicans misunderstanding what's happening here?
- 1:27Speaker 3: Well, I don't know. I mean, I think he is
- 1:29Speaker 3: a shiny object. I think he's a good politician, and
- 1:32Speaker 3: he is up against a you know, a former governor
- 1:35Speaker 3: who left on a horrible note because of his behavior,
- 1:39Speaker 3: and he has that horrific record of people dying during
- 1:43Speaker 3: COVID and what he did in nursing homes. I was
- 1:46Speaker 3: just recently with someone who his parents died because of that,
- 1:49Speaker 3: and so I don't know why that was the best
- 1:51Speaker 3: candidate you know that that actually could come forward. And
- 1:55Speaker 3: by the way, republic there's only sixteen percent of voters
- 1:58Speaker 3: are Republicans in New York City, so let's not get
- 2:01Speaker 3: confused here. But I I the question. The question is though,
- 2:06Speaker 3: I mean, it's only twenty five percent of people maybe
- 2:08Speaker 3: will decide it will be voting. That's a low turnout
- 2:11Speaker 3: vote because there's no big racism than the mayor. But
- 2:15Speaker 3: the question is is the party going to become more
- 2:18Speaker 3: like Mandami? Is it? Is that going to be the
- 2:21Speaker 3: future of the Democratic Party?
- 2:23Speaker 5: What is it?
- 2:24Speaker 4: Well, first let me say at this point, I mean,
- 2:26Speaker 4: you know, with Trump's endorsement, Elon's endorsement, I mean Cuoma
- 2:29Speaker 4: might as well get the penguin the Joker to endorse him.
- 2:31Speaker 2: I mean not he's going to lose the race.
- 2:33Speaker 5: It's over my wind out that the penguin was once
- 2:35Speaker 5: in a movie elected mayor of New York. That is true.
- 2:37Speaker 5: Point that out, That is true.
- 2:39Speaker 4: Copper pot Right Oswell, Copper Pott.
- 2:42Speaker 5: Right, they're gonna come in here.
- 2:43Speaker 4: Okay, all right, rush up on my, on my or
- 2:49Speaker 4: come in mom. Donne's gonna in the race. He's he's
- 2:51Speaker 4: he's going to be mayor. He ran a brilliant campaign.
- 2:54Speaker 4: He's a brilliant messenger. And yeah, he copied a little
- 2:57Speaker 4: bit of what Trump did, simplify the messaging. Repeat Rins
- 3:01Speaker 4: and repeat, Rinson repeat, and he ran brilliant ads and
- 3:04Speaker 4: he's going to win. Now, whether that's exportable to other places, listen,
- 3:08Speaker 4: I don't think so. I think there's place like Chicago
- 3:10Speaker 4: and Portland, Seattle he can create it. It's hard to
- 3:12Speaker 4: find a good candidate, right, good messenger, Like how many
- 3:15Speaker 4: aocs are out there? Right when you're talking about someone
- 3:18Speaker 4: who can message? But look when you're talking about the suburbs, No, mom,
- 3:21Speaker 4: Donnie is not going to win in both the retel
- 3:23Speaker 4: quick thirty seconds.
- 3:24Speaker 5: Yeah, look, he's probably gonna win. I mean, it's a
- 3:27Speaker 5: Democrat town and they're going to elect the socialist to
- 3:29Speaker 5: run the financial capital of the world. I mean, you
- 3:32Speaker 5: know you gave him three hundred grand. That's interesting. That's
- 3:34Speaker 5: probably the only three hundred and nine Islamo Marxist grand
- 3:37Speaker 5: that he got. I saw Linda's softsar today bragging about
- 3:40Speaker 5: all the.
- 3:42Speaker 2: Public financial system in New York.
- 3:45Speaker 5: You know.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Look, And a part of the reason he's so powerful,
- 3:48Speaker 2: it's because people are tired of being lectured by men
- 3:51Speaker 2: with rolexes on CNN about affordability in this country. That's
- 3:54Speaker 2: the real reason he is resonating right now, because he
- 3:57Speaker 2: has a clear message that actually says, this is what
- 4:00Speaker 2: I plan to do and the party. I don't think
- 4:02Speaker 2: this is about going to the left or the right,
- 4:03Speaker 2: to be honest with you, do. I agree with Zarman
- 4:05Speaker 2: much more than a lot of other Democrats in our
- 4:07Speaker 2: party certainly, But I think we need to meet voters
- 4:09Speaker 2: where they're at in their districts. In some districts that's
- 4:11Speaker 2: going to be, that's going to.
- 4:12Speaker 5: Be you want a socialist future for your party.
- 4:15Speaker 2: I want a future where people, everybody has healthcare and
- 4:18Speaker 2: people can afford a good life.
