  This all played out in the late evening of July 4th outside the

  Prairie Land Detention Center in Alvarado.

  Police officers responded to a call about a suspicious person
• 0:28
  outside the center. When they arrived, they saw

  someone who appeared to have a gun.

  One of the Alvarado officers tried to talk to that person,
• 0:37
  and at that point, several other people opened fire on the
• 0:40
  officer, who was hit in the neck.

  He was treated at a local hospital and has since been
• 0:45
  released. Officers arrested a number of
• 0:47
  people at the scene. A motive for the attack is still
• 0:51
  being investigated, but the Department of Homeland Security
• 0:54
  said a group of more than a dozen people had slashed tyres
• 0:58
  of federal vehicles and and damaged security cameras at the

  ICE facility. There was also another attack on

  an ICE facility in Portland, OR Friday night, a facility that
• 1:10
  has been the site of an ongoing protest for several weeks,

  Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanch wrote on X Saturday

  morning quote. We are closely monitoring the
• 1:20
  attacks on DHS detention facilities in Prairie Land,
• 1:24
  Texas and Portland, OR, and are coordinating with the USA OS and

  our law enforcement partners. The department has 0 tolerance

  for assaults on federal officers or property and will bring the

  full weight of the law against those responsible.
