- 1 00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:02,000 It's still real to me, damn it! 2 00:00:02,000 --> 00:00:13,000 What up, you! 3 00:00:13,000 --> 00:00:18,000 Welcome, everybody! 4 00:00:18,000 --> 00:00:21,000 Welcome to this week's "This and This and This" to a real-time show 5 00:00:21,000 --> 00:00:26,000 episode number 729 for January 16th, 2025 6 00:00:26,000 --> 00:00:31,000 Welcome to this week's edition of SRTU 7 00:00:31,000 --> 00:00:35,000 I am one after show, I am Jeff Packen 8 00:00:35,000 --> 00:00:39,000 Join every single week of my fellow Sonali.tri Franklin 9 00:00:39,000 --> 00:00:45,000 Dr. Trey, do you think you have the pulse of professional wrestling at your fingertips, my friend? 10 00:00:45,000 --> 00:00:50,000 I mean, we were talking off air, I'm a diabetic, so my extremities aren't always that great 11 00:00:50,000 --> 00:00:58,000 so I don't even know if I can get a pulse, but I'm sure if I stick my ear to your chest I can hear the pulse of pro wrestling 12 00:00:58,000 --> 00:01:06,000 Hmm, interesting Dr. Trey, so you think you can get it despite your health concerns 13 00:01:06,000 --> 00:01:11,000 You think you can at least figure out what the pulse of professional wrestling is 14 00:01:11,000 --> 00:01:19,000 I do it a great, I was like it's funny being in the independent wrestling business in a sense 15 00:01:19,000 --> 00:01:27,000 And then like we have on our current roster we have a jump name of Jimmy Cicero 16 00:01:27,000 --> 00:01:29,000 Jimmy Cicero for you all school wrestling fans 17 00:01:29,000 --> 00:01:38,000 If you remember the first APA bar fight in Tim Woods, yeah Tim Woods is bar 18 00:01:38,000 --> 00:01:45,000 Jimmy Cicero was the one that was basically racially targeting Ron Simmons 19 00:01:45,000 --> 00:01:49,000 He's part of our show, he's been wrestling, he was trained by having a call up and wrestling in 25 years 20 00:01:49,000 --> 00:01:53,000 We have other guys who have been wrestling for like eight months 21 00:01:53,000 --> 00:01:56,000 and all they know is like you know what the current front is 22 00:01:56,000 --> 00:02:01,000 So we have this great big contrast of wrestling ideals 23 00:02:01,000 --> 00:02:04,000 and what people think wrestling should be 24 00:02:04,000 --> 00:02:08,000 So it's always nice to kind of go, alright maybe we can go that old school 25 00:02:08,000 --> 00:02:12,000 but maybe we can't go this new school and try to find that balance in the middle 26 00:02:12,000 --> 00:02:19,000 So I think I can find a good pulse of pro wrestling based on who I associate with 27 00:02:19,000 --> 00:02:24,000 So Dr. Trey the wrestling pulse discussion that I'm leading into here 28 00:02:24,000 --> 00:02:29,000 It got me thinking and I felt like we talked about this around the same time last year 29 00:02:29,000 --> 00:02:34,000 And here we are again based on actions and conversations 30 00:02:34,000 --> 00:02:45,000 And I think it was salvaged a couple months later because they made the best out of a situation that did not go the direction that WWE wanted it 31 00:02:45,000 --> 00:02:51,000 And the question that I start here today with and it got me thinking I saw Robbie Fox from Barstool Sports debate in it 32 00:02:51,000 --> 00:02:59,000 And it's whether or not the rock, if the rock has his finger on the pulse of wrestling anymore 33 00:02:59,000 --> 00:03:05,000 And I felt like we talked about this during last year's time, headed into everything with WrestleMania 40 34 00:03:05,000 --> 00:03:14,000 And what led this discussion was the fact that the storyline with Heen Cody Rhodes basically just was dropped 35 00:03:14,000 --> 00:03:19,000 That they buried the hatchet, they moved on, the stuff from Bad Blood in October 36 00:03:19,000 --> 00:03:29,000 I guess it's now forgotten memory, all because it looks like from the outside looking in the rock is unavailable for WrestleMania 41 right now 37 00:03:29,000 --> 00:03:32,000 Follow that up the following night on NXT 38 00:03:32,000 --> 00:03:37,000 And the rock who is regarded as one of the best on the promo on the microphone ever 39 00:03:37,000 --> 00:03:43,000 He is struggling to find words for NXT 40 00:03:43,000 --> 00:03:49,000 His segment with his daughter in Ethan Page wasn't executed to the best of its ability 41 00:03:49,000 --> 00:03:54,000 And I don't know if that's babyface rock, I don't know if he doesn't know what to do 42 00:03:54,000 --> 00:03:57,000 I don't know if he doesn't follow NXT 43 00:03:57,000 --> 00:04:01,000 I mean he salvaged like the last two minutes I talked about in the last week's show 44 00:04:01,000 --> 00:04:07,000 Because he had a really good comparison like this is the show, you know, it's very easy to go see Raw, the Into a Dome 45 00:04:07,000 --> 00:04:13,000 The show everybody wants to go to but this is the show you want to be at, this is what defines professional wrestling fans 46 00:04:13,000 --> 00:04:18,000 And he may have been fed those lines for all we know, probably he was 47 00:04:18,000 --> 00:04:26,000 But here we are again having a discussion about the rock and where his finger is on the pulse professional wrestling fans 48 00:04:26,000 --> 00:04:36,000 And he may have been saved last year because WD Creative or whomever did a really good job of spinning that web that we saw with the main events for WrestleMania 40 last year 49 00:04:36,000 --> 00:04:46,000 We saw the documentary, he obviously got some equal love in parts played and to how that was successfully developed and took place 50 00:04:46,000 --> 00:04:59,000 So here we are again and we're having this discussion is did we learn in the last week that the rock does in fact not have his finger on the pulse of professional wrestling 51 00:04:59,000 --> 00:05:12,000 Yeah, I don't think he has it on maybe the hardcore fans I think I think the casual fans the people who tune in just because it's the rock were fine with it 52 00:05:12,000 --> 00:05:28,000 But when it comes to like, you know, the fans who live and breed this stuff, I think there is a disconnect because you know, I think we were all wanting a continuation of what we saw at WrestleMania, what we saw at Bad Blood 53 00:05:28,000 --> 00:05:38,000 I mean, we saw it on that episode of SmackDown and he came out and he did the throat cut and the three like we saw these things and then they were kind of dropped 54 00:05:38,000 --> 00:05:51,000 Now it may have been dropped because corporate board of directors rock needs to be kind of babyface for the sake of, you know, investors and sponsors and things like that 55 00:05:51,000 --> 00:06:03,000 But, you know, wrestling fans we want to see the continuation of the store lines you and I for years bitched and moaned about how store lines would just get dropped with no real conclusion to them 56 00:06:03,000 --> 00:06:10,000 And then when triple H came along, we were excited because we were seeing stuff getting paid off and it might be a throwaway line 57 00:06:10,000 --> 00:06:25,000 But there was payoffs to angles that may have been forgotten about or may have been dropped in, you know, in this era of wrestling that you and I are loving, a lot of it is because these guys are referencing their history with their opponent 58 00:06:25,000 --> 00:06:32,000 Or they're referencing something else. So there is like a little bit like an Easter A reward system in place for those diehard fans 59 00:06:32,000 --> 00:06:50,000 And I just think with given how the rock did it at raw and then the axis of, I feel like he's just kind of playing to his casual base and not the diehard fan base that, you know, has made WWE successful for so many years 60 00:06:50,000 --> 00:06:54,000 Yeah really and I'm one of the biggest fans of the rock that you'll find 61 00:06:54,000 --> 00:07:10,000 But last week while it's exciting that he's back on television it really didn't do anything to further WWE, at least in the early onset and less something changes towards the end of the month and we get an idea that the rock in fact is part of the WrestleMania build 62 00:07:10,000 --> 00:07:28,000 What we know and what we see right now it certainly feels like he is not therefore it's like what was the point of everything other than an appearance, what was the point of now bad blood, what was the point of the night after WrestleMania because I was really digging everything that was going on with the rock is the final boss character and where things were looking in the future 63 00:07:28,000 --> 00:07:44,000 I was really excited to see a rock versus Cody Rhodes match at some point, I wanted to know what did the rock give Cody Rhodes the night after WrestleMania is that going to be one of those like tongue in cheek jokes that we talk about forever, what in fact did the rock give Cody Rhodes 64 00:07:44,000 --> 00:07:56,000 We're going to be talking about this forever and ever and ever now, I don't want to do that, do we have an interview five years now where they asked Cody, what was the point of that? 65 00:07:56,000 --> 00:08:04,000 Why did rock come out at bad blood and look at you and Roman do the throat slash 321 and all that stuff, what was that supposed to lead to? 66 00:08:04,000 --> 00:08:08,000 What's the answer to it? 67 00:08:08,000 --> 00:08:22,000 When rock comes back the follow through the start to finish and I get it, his schedule he is the most popular movie star in the United States, maybe in fact in the world, one of 68 00:08:22,000 --> 00:08:51,000 you know they are at his mercy when he is available to do WWE television it's a gift, it's a treat, it's fun, it puts eyes on their product, I get the value of him being there but as a hardcore wrestling fan when you don't follow through when you cut a promo where you're making an appearance on NXT to have a bump in viewership and they got one it was nearly a million viewers on the NXT New Year's evil special 69 00:08:51,000 --> 00:09:10,000 and a lot of that had to do with the rock for sure, I want a little bit more than what we're being given so it's confusing and it's not what I want to see from the rock when he's on WWE television each and every week. 70 00:09:10,000 --> 00:09:35,000 I mean because with all this talk about the rock I don't know if you notice it but when he came out, both times he came out, the final boss does not show up on the Titan Tron so I don't know if that means he's dropped the character completely which would be sad or if it's just, I don't know what that means, if they change the Titan Tron usually that's a change in character direction, I don't know if you notice that or not. 71 00:09:35,000 --> 00:09:39,000 No I didn't notice that, I thought it said it on there, it didn't say the final boss. 72 00:09:39,000 --> 00:09:47,000 No it just said it did all the stuff, the old Tron did, it had the rock, it had the logo but it didn't say final boss pop up. 73 00:09:47,000 --> 00:10:04,000 Now I may have missed it, they may have cut away to show the crowd when it popped up but I know the stuff he was doing hanging into the media last year, you saw a final boss on that screen pretty prominently and if it was up there it wasn't nice. 74 00:10:04,000 --> 00:10:08,000 It wasn't nearly as prominent as it was last year. 75 00:10:08,000 --> 00:10:24,000 So let me ask you a question, if you know, if you can see the future and you know the rock is coming back to WWE and you were already able to see what happened on Raw, on the debut of Netflix and what he did on NXT, 76 00:10:24,000 --> 00:10:34,000 would you still prefer to see the rock come out and do what you already saw in the future or would you prefer the rock not be on television? 77 00:10:34,000 --> 00:10:50,000 That's a tricky question, I mean we love the rock but I don't want to say I want to see Cody finish the story, I want to see Rock finish this story because that makes sense. 78 00:10:50,000 --> 00:11:02,000 I want to see where this was going, all I can picture is the end of the movie 7 when Brad Pitt's yelling out what's in the box, what's in the box? 79 00:11:02,000 --> 00:11:04,000 What did Rock give Cody, what did he give him? 80 00:11:04,000 --> 00:11:18,000 I want to see this story play out to fruition instead of just, we were waiting nine months to give him to come out and play nice and toast Cody with his own tequila. 81 00:11:18,000 --> 00:11:26,000 That's a little disappointing, if the rock had not done the final boss character last year and did this, I would have been fine with it. 82 00:11:26,000 --> 00:11:35,000 But because we got that really great heel run of rock and then it just ends suddenly, I don't know where, it's disappointing. 83 00:11:35,000 --> 00:11:43,000 So I guess I would say if in that scenario you presented, I would say I just would not have wanted to see Rock. 84 00:11:43,000 --> 00:11:52,000 What would you say the percentage chance is Rock is performing wrestling at WrestleMania this year? 85 00:11:52,000 --> 00:11:56,000 I would say 50, it's 50, it's too. 86 00:11:56,000 --> 00:11:57,000 Wow, you're being kind. 87 00:11:57,000 --> 00:12:09,000 I am because he's got a lot of investment in this now because him being on the board of directors, if he's not the head of the board, I don't know what the title is. 88 00:12:09,000 --> 00:12:16,000 Director of the board, he's got a financial stake in how well the company performs. 89 00:12:16,000 --> 00:12:21,000 And last year he thought him coming back was saving WrestleMania. 90 00:12:21,000 --> 00:12:25,000 You know, they thought Roman and Rock was going to save WrestleMania. 91 00:12:25,000 --> 00:12:33,000 So he's got a financial stake in this and in all honesty, his last few movies have not done well financially. 92 00:12:33,000 --> 00:12:47,000 Plus you have John Cena come out and basically saying that he canceled all of his projects for 2025 to have one last run with the company, which means he's put his movie career on hold for this last run. 93 00:12:47,000 --> 00:12:51,000 Once again, is that John Cena kind of upstaged in the rock by saying he's doing this. 94 00:12:51,000 --> 00:13:00,000 Like I know Rock has 37 different companies he runs, but he's got a pretty big financial stake in WWE right now being the director of the board. 95 00:13:00,000 --> 00:13:08,000 You would think he'd want to, if he feels like he's the biggest draw for the company, he's got to be on WrestleMania somehow some way then. 96 00:13:08,000 --> 00:13:10,000 Yeah, it's all strange. 97 00:13:10,000 --> 00:13:14,000 It's like, you obviously want to see the Rock back. 98 00:13:14,000 --> 00:13:22,000 But if Rock is going to come back and do the stuff he did last week, I want to say, and it's got a lead to nothing, no story lines. 99 00:13:22,000 --> 00:13:29,000 And it's just a cameo and appearance to get the fans like really excited. He gets a promo for 20 minutes does a segment for 20 minutes. 100 00:13:29,000 --> 00:13:34,000 Give me the rock that we saw a pretty final boss. Give me that rock. 101 00:13:34,000 --> 00:13:43,000 Don't do final boss rock with everything that you last left us up until that point was coming out of bad blood. 102 00:13:43,000 --> 00:13:48,000 Three, two, one, throat slash, staring at Roman and Cody like, okay, this is interesting. 103 00:13:48,000 --> 00:13:57,000 Rock is definitely wrestling at WrestleMania. Night after WrestleMania, hand something to Cody says I'll see you soon, walks off. 104 00:13:57,000 --> 00:14:03,000 And we figure, all right, this is the setup now for the following year WrestleMania, maybe Summer Slam, something else down the line. 105 00:14:03,000 --> 00:14:10,000 Like, that all makes sense to me. And then we'd love to find a boss rock that he'll run was so nostalgic, so much fun and it was great. 106 00:14:10,000 --> 00:14:20,000 It just seemed like the governor was off of him and he could enjoy his time when you get Hollywood business rock. It's not that fun. 107 00:14:20,000 --> 00:14:29,000 It's not that fun. And he like, he like, it's funny. And that's just how I'll say this. I don't know what it was like for you growing up, Dr. Tribe. 108 00:14:29,000 --> 00:14:39,000 But for me, whenever I would drop a curse word, right? When I was growing up, my parents and my grandmother, they would always be like, what do you think you sound like? 109 00:14:39,000 --> 00:14:48,000 Like you have to throw in a curse word to sound like you're cool? Rock going on NXT and dropping the F-bomb multiple times on the CW network. 110 00:14:48,000 --> 00:14:55,000 I'm like, man, he is just trying to get a pop out of the crowd. And I thought that was a little bit of a cheap pop. 111 00:14:55,000 --> 00:15:02,000 You could go out there and say this is, we're finally where the Rock has come to Los Angeles, California. 112 00:15:02,000 --> 00:15:21,000 But I feel like him Carson has come a little bit of a cheap pop. So I would prefer if you're going to do that stuff, do the rock that we saw from like when you make cameo appearances from here, you know, every once in a while following recipe 29 to that day one episode of raw last year. 113 00:15:21,000 --> 00:15:39,000 And I think once everything settles down from the nostalgia and you're like excited that he's back out, once it wears off and you think about it a week later, I'm like, oh man, that wasn't that great overall. 114 00:15:39,000 --> 00:15:45,000 It was great to see him out there, but it's like, man, how did they just let all the storylines die like that? 115 00:15:45,000 --> 00:15:59,000 Yeah, by the way, I'm like, how old were you when you were dropping curse words curse words in front of your family? Dude, I'm I'm a 90s kid, right? So middle school, if you're doing two words, suck it. Middle fingers, Steve Austin. 116 00:15:59,000 --> 00:16:03,000 Wow. Like whole F and show Rob Van Dam. 117 00:16:03,000 --> 00:16:16,000 I got beat. I mean, I say, I got spanked by my dad one time because I said the word puck like hockey puck, but I use it as I was like, and he what me for intense. 118 00:16:16,000 --> 00:16:26,000 Like he's like, I know what you meant. You may not have said the word, but I knew what you meant. So I got my bug beat for that my 17 or my now 18 year old stepson. 119 00:16:26,000 --> 00:16:52,000 We like if he curses in the house before he was 18, like we got on to him for us. I was like, that's that that Northeast parenting right there. Like you get away a little bit more than I could back then. But yeah, like to me, like this whole thing with the rock. The last two episodes. I don't know if you thought about this, but it reminded me of when John Cena and him were promoing and seen him made fun of him for having to write down bullet points on his hand or on his wrist. 120 00:16:52,000 --> 00:17:06,000 I was like, okay, so Brian Gerwitz did not write any of this because this is the rock off the cuff. I think he can wing it. And you know, I felt like the the NXT stuff was him playing like he's in the edge of your place. 121 00:17:06,000 --> 00:17:18,000 Like it's the this is the cool kids house. I can I can wait with him. I'm like, you do realize like that's a network show. They have way more way more sensors. And what's happening on Netflix is just it seemed out of place. 122 00:17:18,000 --> 00:17:30,000 It seemed like yeah, like a cheap pop all of a sudden. And then the only thing I could think of was by the way after raw when he was drinking with Cody. I was like, well, maybe he gave Cody a shot glass. 123 00:17:30,000 --> 00:17:38,000 And that's what it was. It was a shot glass in there waiting for him to come back to toast Cody. I don't know. But yeah, like this. 124 00:17:38,000 --> 00:17:52,000 The last two rock appearances now weren't great. It's always great to see him and it were happy to see him. But you know, if I just I I hate seeing this stuff in a sense because I feel like he loses credit. 125 00:17:52,000 --> 00:17:56,000 Give me rock back when he would pop in show up. 126 00:17:56,000 --> 00:18:00,000 You know, gender, Mahal episode. 127 00:18:00,000 --> 00:18:10,000 But why is family a WrestleMania? Yeah, that's what I'm thinking to give me that rock if you're going to do that type of stuff. Yeah, give me badass bad ass baby face. 128 00:18:10,000 --> 00:18:19,000 Rock is just shows up cuts a promo heels interrupt him. He rock bottom somebody. People's elbow crowd pops. We go home. Like I'm fine with that. 129 00:18:19,000 --> 00:18:29,000 Yeah, but how about this doctor? Why can't they do that rock with a baby face? Why can't they have him? Why not heal out on a baby face? 130 00:18:29,000 --> 00:18:45,000 What baby face do you sacrifice to the rock? I think even if I would be more content on that raw Netflix episode if rock came out and laid out Cody Rhodes and left and it did not lead to a WrestleMania match. 131 00:18:45,000 --> 00:18:51,000 But there was reports out there that that's the eventual plan. They're going to aim for some or slam whatever they need to do to put a little buffer. 132 00:18:51,000 --> 00:19:02,000 I would prefer that than what I saw. I would prefer when he puts the ulafala on Roman Reigns and Roman puts his back to him puts the one up rock. 133 00:19:02,000 --> 00:19:11,000 Does it sit in the corner looking at him proudly? You know low blow rock bottom. You know takes the ulafala off Roman Reigns and walks out of the arena. 134 00:19:11,000 --> 00:19:15,000 Like give me that. I mean that is what everybody thought we were going to get. 135 00:19:15,000 --> 00:19:25,000 I mean how like they held that camera on him and Roman in the ring for so long you just kind of expected it to happen and then it didn't happen. 136 00:19:25,000 --> 00:19:33,000 And even on NXT like how cool it would have been to have him. Remember when trick lost the belt the first time he had to go talk to all the other champions. 137 00:19:33,000 --> 00:19:41,000 Like what if trick is back there and there's the rock and they're like we get a trick Williams rock segments but then rock hits it with the rock bottom. 138 00:19:41,000 --> 00:19:48,000 You know the middle of the ring out of nowhere and you're just like oh yeah don't never you know don't trust final boss type rock. 139 00:19:48,000 --> 00:19:54,000 Like any other thing give the baby face room. I don't know if I would like Cody if it wasn't leading to a WrestleMania thing. 140 00:19:54,000 --> 00:20:07,000 Because then it kind of spoils the WrestleMania match in a sense like if Cody's defending the title against Randy Orton but we're looking at Cody and Rock at some or slam whatever those two square off. 141 00:20:07,000 --> 00:20:26,000 You just kind of figure the title is going to be on the line. And maybe people's champion versus world champion but you know to me the rock I mean the rock Roman is the logic of Russian even then vice versa if rock had come out there and solos out there in the ring and you want to keep baby face. 142 00:20:26,000 --> 00:20:46,000 Well he just lost the Roman have rock let you have rock him with the people's elbow and they're like okay rocks a baby face again give me something other than just the meandering promo that I mean it's not a whole coag anish in the boot factor but every soft one they would give hogan a mic and just let him talk for 10 minutes years like. 143 00:20:46,000 --> 00:21:00,000 I don't know he just said I don't really know where this went if it meant anything but you know whatever. 144 00:21:00,000 --> 00:21:13,000 I'm going to be a little bit more confident with his character because there is no direction that is the downside on depending on the way in the rock Johnson if you wwe because you want him around as much as you can I want to run as much as I can as a fan. 145 00:21:13,000 --> 00:21:28,000 But when we have these moments where he can't commit and there's a little bit of this odd buffer to pop of you worship kick off a new error of raw in the right way that they can't go down that final boss alley that all the fans want it's it's disappointing. 146 00:21:28,000 --> 00:21:42,000 So there you go it was some I was thinking about and I was I was like I think we've had this discussion for now we're having it again because I wanted more from the rock last week now that we've had at least a week and have to think about it. 147 00:21:42,000 --> 00:21:57,000 Going into the Royal Rumble just a couple weeks away doctor tray on Monday night CM Punk Seth Rounds Drew McIntyre now that they were part of the field that field now is officially John Cena. 148 00:21:57,000 --> 00:22:18,000 Affle mentioned CM Punk Roman Reigns the aforementioned Seth Rounds Drew McIntyre J Uso and L.A. Knight this already is a star studded affair for this year's mens Royal Rumble match doctor tray could this be in name value alone the biggest Royal Rumble mens Royal Rumble match of all time. 149 00:22:18,000 --> 00:22:31,000 I mean just in recent memory because you have Roman in it because typically this point the for the last three wrestle made or three Rumbles maybe four rock was the champ. 150 00:22:31,000 --> 00:22:43,000 So you got I'm assuming that rock I got rock on the brain next he's been with time we got Roman was a champ so Roman being in alone when you got the return of CM Punk is first or is second Royal Rumble being back. 151 00:22:43,000 --> 00:22:53,000 John Cena who hasn't been in a Royal Rumble in God what eight years seven eight years has been a long times as he's been in a Rumble. 152 00:22:53,000 --> 00:23:09,000 Seth Drew you know I'll throw J and L.A. Knight into it but I love that J Uso by the way J Uso is in the Rumble but he might win the world title Saturday night before the Rumble so how why is he announcing being the Rumble if he's got a World title match just as a backup plan that you know. 153 00:23:09,000 --> 00:23:38,000 But yeah maybe I mean really I don't maybe probably off the announced field I would say this is the most star set of Rumble we have the ones where you A J made an appearance we have the ones where like edge makes a surprise appearance and we didn't think that was going to happen until like the day before the Rumble so maybe on announced names yeah this might be the most stacked Rumble and the crazy thing is if you look at it we always make a big deal about the final four in the Rumble. 154 00:23:38,000 --> 00:23:52,000 Well when you got punk McIntyre Seth Cena and Roman that's five that means one of those guys is not making the final four of the Rumble so that kind of tells you it's pretty star studded just on that alone. 155 00:23:52,000 --> 00:24:21,000 And you also have to figure that maybe that there is a storyline that obviously kicks off a WrestleMania program in the Rumble match itself based on what you're saying which I think is a fantastic point there's some big names that will not make the final four the likelihood that they're let's just say Solosiko takes out Roman Reigns or Drew McIntyre takes out Roman Reigns something like that you know like oh this is this is the setup now to a mania match that has a strong possibility but I was looking at this card and the early early or the game. 156 00:24:21,000 --> 00:24:50,000 And the early names like it has been some time since we've had a Rumble where it's this star studded I think the one the last time where we probably debated this was the Rumble where they had Lesnar undertaker and Goldberg in it and obviously some of those guys were past their prime at this point but it was like for old time fans like you and I doctorates like wait Lesnar undertaker and Goldberg are all going to be in the Royal Rumble match like this is something if you told me in in 2000. 157 00:24:50,000 --> 00:25:04,000 In 2002 2003 I would have lost my mind so right now I mean it is it is looking really really stacked and I think that's how it should be I think these Rumble cards that you're right by the way I saw a lot of people 158 00:25:04,000 --> 00:25:19,000 upset about the Gunther J Uso announcement for Saturn and it's made event versus the weekend before the Rumble my problem with all that definitely stems with what you're saying like why are they given J a title shot then he's announced for the Rumble match a week later 159 00:25:19,000 --> 00:25:29,000 like what are we doing there absolutely correct with that I didn't like the business mind in this one where a week before one of your biggest 160 00:25:29,000 --> 00:25:44,000 pay per views of the year you're doing a Saturday it's made event like that that made no sense to me at all they should have done something you know a stipulation where if I don't know something 161 00:25:44,000 --> 00:26:02,000 that would lead to J not being in the Rumble match it's just it does not make sense and it's it's poorly timed so my point in this all is while I don't like that I actually do like that they are doing a 162 00:26:02,000 --> 00:26:12,000 world title match the weekend before the Rumble because I don't think the Rumble should be a spot where Cody defense or Gunther defense I don't think they did that 163 00:26:12,000 --> 00:26:20,000 last year's Rumble have to take a look back and see if I'm correct to there or not because I remember rains and Rollins watching from the sky 164 00:26:20,000 --> 00:26:29,000 booths in the arena they're a tropical field I would prefer that that card is focused on the two Rumble matches let them have enough time as 165 00:26:29,000 --> 00:26:45,000 possible then you put like maybe mid card match in the on the men's side maybe a tag team or a women's mid card match as well in that one but I would prefer no title matches because of exactly the reason why people are complaining right now where J 166 00:26:45,000 --> 00:26:56,000 uses get a title shot the week before the world Rumble match. Yeah I mean it one hand a kind of supposed out they had said you know whoever loses gets the spot so I've 167 00:26:56,000 --> 00:27:03,000 heard of the Rumble. Yeah I'm sure there are loses he's in the Rumble if J loses he's in the Rumble you know something like that or just don't even 168 00:27:03,000 --> 00:27:11,000 announce J's in the Rumble let him be kind of a surprise entrance if you want to go that route you know it's yeah I can't 169 00:27:11,000 --> 00:27:19,000 remember it's something like Gunther versus J don't announce J for the Rumble. Yeah we all assume Gunther is going to 170 00:27:19,000 --> 00:27:33,000 at Saturday and it's main event it would be a shocking surprise if J walks out of the world of the way champion as much as we love to see it next night on raw or two nights later on raw you have a match where it's like a last chance battle 171 00:27:33,000 --> 00:27:46,000 royal and J is trying to get back in there because he missed a shot like you have that match at Saturday and it's main event where J nearly defeats Gunther multiple times is so close becoming world champion he's chasing these 172 00:27:46,000 --> 00:28:01,000 and he has the desire that he needs to get back in the Rumble match and he wins about Royal or he wins a last chance match on raw like that's how I think it should have been booked I would not have announced J for the Rumble a week before he has or a 173 00:28:01,000 --> 00:28:12,000 week after he has a title match that was so easy. Yeah plus he's arguably the most over babyface on the roster I mean when that music hits and he comes down like that 174 00:28:12,000 --> 00:28:28,000 and the crowd is into the J and J who's so entrance so you know save it for number 28 or 29 in the Rumble and just let the crowd go nuts or we haven't had you know one of the like the crazy gauntlet matches you know in a while like make him you 175 00:28:28,000 --> 00:28:48,000 in the Rumble you start number one you got run through six guys to get in the Rumble you know to basically reestablish it because right now like he he's been very very unsuccessful in his singles title matches he had the one win over brawn and then lost the belt a week later so how's that and then you know Gunther 176 00:28:48,000 --> 00:29:06,000 he had a couple shots of the IC title is Gunther Gunther beat him so you know you got to kind of establish him has the try think of a good comparison who's like a try think of another past babyface that always came up sure maybe it was Sami sane Kevin always earn the Roman Reigns title run like Kevin 177 00:29:06,000 --> 00:29:23,000 Kevin took his call I thought Sammy last year yeah was was I thought up until CM Punk returned in war games I think we have this as a topic like in late 2023 I was like I think Sam because I think the way they were booking raw to that that was the potential 178 00:29:23,000 --> 00:29:30,000 direction I really thought Sammy was being set up to win last year's Rumble and take on Rollins in a main event match for the title. 179 00:29:30,000 --> 00:29:44,000 Yeah and by the way I was about this when you when you brought up this you know this been the most star studded Rumble does that then the inverse true that this might be the weakest two world champions we've had heading into a Rumble. 180 00:29:44,000 --> 00:29:55,000 You know I saw a lot of people and we'll talk about Gunther here in just a little bit I've seen a lot of people say that Gunther's run has been a failure so far as World Champion. 181 00:29:55,000 --> 00:30:24,000 I disagree with that whole heartedly I would like him to lean a little bit more into the heel side a little bit better I think Cody has been your standard babyface white meat clean cut babyface that we've seen in WWE history forever I don't think that these two are the weakest champions I actually think like long term wise five ten years so now we look back and go that like Cody and Gunther were some of the best of all time. 182 00:30:24,000 --> 00:30:53,000 But the way that they've been but I've been very critical the way that Cody's been booked this year up until recently that the Kevin Owen stuff is kind of saved him by now the Gunther stuff is is it's not defensible I mean he has not been booked great and I think over the last they got they got away from intercontinental champion version of Gunther for whatever reason and he's like at times this quasi hybrid potentially a baby. 183 00:30:53,000 --> 00:31:03,000 Potentially a baby face more of a heel like when he's getting into with dominant stereo but I don't think that the weakest doctor try. 184 00:31:03,000 --> 00:31:22,000 Yeah I know what they're doing with Gunther is they're trying to kind of build up that main event equity in him by having him get a little bit of a rod with it but yeah I'm with you like I don't like this three quarter heel quarter baby face Gunther like I like like the Matt is sacred ring generation. 185 00:31:22,000 --> 00:31:38,000 Everybody is beneath me Gunther I also don't like they solo like it's to me like you still like if you're a heel champion it's always good to have somebody around you and then I was about your day you know you got you I'm reading a Tyler baits coming back soon. 186 00:31:38,000 --> 00:32:07,000 Man's like if you did a new appearing with bait done Kaiser and Gunther like that could be really good as well so I kind of I kind of wish they would circle the circle the wagon back up and give him a little bit of a stable around him and then yeah if he cheats to win great you know but if you just straight up I don't I guess I just don't like when the heel champion just comes off as overpowering and dominant over all the baby faces because it just feels. 187 00:32:07,000 --> 00:32:24,000 A little ball even or the icy run he had Kaiser around him and even you know a Vinci for a little bit like he had some help during that run I just don't like super ultra homeland or type heel where he can just defeat everybody on his own. 188 00:32:24,000 --> 00:32:53,000 If I was booking WWE I would have kept Sam and Gunther away from one another once you got the world title I wouldn't have done the match that they did a couple months ago on raw where they had like a little mini TV program I would have periodically vent you know backstage interactions some sort of interactions here and there started to sprinkle in and there where Sam he says to Gunther like you know I'm the only one that can beat you and I'm going to take that title for you I would have Sam he's ain't win the Royal Rumble. 189 00:32:53,000 --> 00:33:04,000 And I would go into WrestleMania Gunther versus Sammy Zane where Gunther is like scared shit list that it's going to be a repeat lightning it's going to strike twice from last year. 190 00:33:04,000 --> 00:33:22,000 Sammy knows he could beat him and I think you've got like it's Rocky right everybody loves the storyline of Rocky where the underdog again second year in a row takes out Tragou and becomes the world champion I would be investing in that but there is a direction that is going to be a real big deal. 191 00:33:22,000 --> 00:33:51,000 And there is a direction that reportedly WWE is going right now Dr. Trague because you know we're mentioning this quasi Gunther is playing a little bit of a baby face getting some cheers here and there but also kind of remaining heal because maybe they don't know the direction of the character because according to PW Insider there have been creative pitches for Gunther to take on Logan Paul at WrestleMania 41. 192 00:33:51,000 --> 00:34:04,000 According reports all on second according reports nothing is 100% locked in stone but the idea has been pushed internally in creative circles Cody Rhodes versus John Cena has also been pitched for Mania Dr. Trague your thoughts. 193 00:34:04,000 --> 00:34:20,000 Well they kind of tease that a little bit at the Netflix press conference where Logan Paul alluded to that to me though like you know you mentioned Rocky we've talked about John Cena we tell you to me John Cena Gunther is the most logical option because 194 00:34:20,000 --> 00:34:40,000 I mean we go back to Cena and Rusev with the flag match in the tank and all that stuff like like that's to me that's the story like if you want to build the rest of me like Cena and I mean when you do heal heal in baby face baby face we've seen it a W it doesn't work the crowd wants Dr. Trague. 195 00:34:40,000 --> 00:34:54,000 I let me stop here I don't think in WWE's mind I think this is going to be heal versus heal I and I agree with him that I think if it's Gunther versus Logan Paul the wrestling fans back Gunther he's the ring general. 196 00:34:54,000 --> 00:34:59,000 But I still don't think you're going to get the passion in it like if you're doing Gunther I agree with that as well. 197 00:34:59,000 --> 00:35:24,000 I want my story lines to have passion and I want people to pick a side you're going to have people who cheer Logan Paul just because he is the Maverick and the little bit of the wrong the younger generation is going to cheer Logan Paul that match he will get really I think so I think I think is he in cheer I always I'm scared I think he is I'm very impressed with Logan Paul I think he makes a great heal. 198 00:35:24,000 --> 00:35:36,000 I obviously am out of touch at 38 years old I I don't know if the youth is sharing him on I always feel like he's he is predominantly a heal in the fans of in the eyes of WWE fans. 199 00:35:36,000 --> 00:35:50,000 I think with Logan Paul you this is a little bit of the Seth Rollins when Sessie Hill he does really cool moves he flies around he's cocky he's arrogance and young people respond to that think about when you were young and you saw DX they were 200 00:35:50,000 --> 00:36:06,000 grabrash arrogant cocky did all the stuff that the grownups said was wrong you know even think you know like you know the whole Bret Hart Shawn Michaels the by the book baby face the cocky arrogant high flying heal Seth was that way too and a lot of the 201 00:36:06,000 --> 00:36:22,000 the in the authority run where he's going to do in these cool moves is kind of brush and that's why they're like hey maybe he did a good baby face it's I think you're going to have it's a little bit of that new school all school mentality I think younger fans would cheer Logan Paul against 202 00:36:22,000 --> 00:36:38,000 Gunther this is rock versus John Cena WrestleMania 28 yeah exactly I think you get this you get that 50 50 split which I think is bad for television I want I want people booing to where the decibel levels 105 if I want people cheering 203 00:36:38,000 --> 00:36:55,000 that I want that decibel be your blow off and once again like if if you did John Cena and Gunther the lines are already predetermined and Cody versus any other heal the lines are pre cut if you do Cody and Cena the crowd split if you do Gunther and Logan I think the crowd is still the 204 00:36:55,000 --> 00:37:07,000 split because you have also a lot of like die hard Americans who don't want to cheer for the guy from I know he's from Austria but people think Germany that not going to cheer for that so I think he's also called this trash for his entire time right 205 00:37:07,000 --> 00:37:16,000 I mean in the end we're going to get behind it because we want to see him kick Logan Paul's ass I mean you did they tested those waters with Gunther's interaction with Dominic 206 00:37:16,000 --> 00:37:28,000 Maserio and that may be the reason why they they did those segments doctorate because as I said a couple like those were very entertaining and and they had some good chemistry with one 207 00:37:28,000 --> 00:37:43,000 and people were laughing when Gunther was beating the shit out of Dom like I think that that match may have tested okay is there something here if we do Gunther versus Logan Paul because I look at Logan Paul the same way I look at Dominic Maserio as a heal 208 00:37:43,000 --> 00:37:57,000 See I think Dominic has more heat than Logan Paul I Dominic does have to talk Logan Paul still got has insult the people a little bit to get him to boo him but I do think they're testing the waters because 209 00:37:57,000 --> 00:38:13,000 you know we've seen it's like ultra strong baby faces like just like the guys who are just bigger faster stronger tougher you know super seen a Goldberg like those kind of guys are even Roman when he was a before he went tribal chief 210 00:38:13,000 --> 00:38:24,000 like those people do get cheered and Gunther fits that vein of a champion if you go that route so I do think it's there and we've seen a little more depth in the Gunther character but 211 00:38:24,000 --> 00:38:53,000 it was again this whole thing could turn around because we're still 90 days out for WrestleMania and you could get me a good storyline and I might bite but just on paper it's like why would you take two of your better heels and put them in a match together and two of your best your biggest baby face and put a best together it would make more sense logically especially for casual fans to go oh seen is fighting Gunther oh I hate that guy I'm I'm going to see the oh Logan Paul's fighting Cody Rose hypothetically 212 00:38:53,000 --> 00:39:22,000 oh I hate that arrogant guy I'm going for Cody it just makes it easier for the casual fans to tune in have a side watch in the Super Bowl if you don't care about the two teams in the game you automatically want to pick one side or the other just to have a rooting interest if you have Cody and seen out there's like well I like both these guys so I guess it doesn't matter who wins or if you have Gunther Logan Paul I don't like either these guys I don't care who wins you lose that passion in that interest in a sense 213 00:39:22,000 --> 00:39:49,000 on paper if they go Roman punk scene of Cody Gunther Logan Paul I would say that on paper looks weak to me yeah because once again for most fans who don't like WrestleMania is your Super Bowl it's your casual fan interest event most people those lines are blurred they don't know who they're going to get on who they're going to really cheer who they're really going to boo 214 00:39:49,000 --> 00:40:18,000 you know like everybody like right now we all kind of love Roman Reigns we all kind of love see him punk we all love seen it we all of Cody all hate Gunther we all hate Logan but those guys are all matches against somebody else on the same side of the fence do I really get passionate about the match does it make it must see or does it become kind of like you know like right now if we get bills and lions in the Super Bowl Jeff well you're a packer spain you hate the lines you'll probably pull for the bills 215 00:40:18,000 --> 00:40:47,600 I would be happy for both teams actually to answer that those are lovable losers it's until the lines continue to be really good we're like all right enough of this let's say we get Raven's Rams you care about either team Jesus no I mean that's we've seen that with with Super Bowl I hear what you're saying yeah I think WWE is putting this out of there out there to test the waters and I agree I think if you're I think that scene is going to win the rumble right now and if you're going to have seen a win the rumble what is more impactful scene versus Cody or 216 00:40:47,600 --> 00:40:57,360 seen versus Gunther it's universe is Gunther like that is where people are going to be excited if you want a scene versus Cody match at some point this year which I think we 217 00:40:57,360 --> 00:41:12,960 eventually get just make it this you know nostalgia respect match where you know I've never been in the ring with you I don't know if they have or have it I'm sure they have knowing this but you know and it's a it's a passing on the torch match which scene is already done with 218 00:41:12,960 --> 00:41:21,240 the rum in the past take but take the belt out of the equation you wait until you have could take the belt off Cody to do Cody see I think he still could 219 00:41:21,240 --> 00:41:26,080 because the let's say seen a wins and he becomes world champion of WrestleMania I think seen a walking out of 220 00:41:26,080 --> 00:41:33,680 mania with the title a world title is a very good possibility yes and if you do that and you do you know champion versus 221 00:41:33,680 --> 00:41:40,680 champion I'm fine with it because then no titles are on the line yeah I mean I would say that to me and this is just how I 222 00:41:40,680 --> 00:41:48,680 look at out WWE books things that is something that could potentially done on in Saudi Arabia maybe they do that with the crown jewel 223 00:41:48,680 --> 00:42:00,680 a type match but that is really far down the line because that's in November actually I think I read because they're doing the rumble that they're only going to Saudi Arabia once this year in June so maybe that's when they do crown jewel I could see 224 00:42:00,680 --> 00:42:13,680 the scene of versus Cody one-on-one at that event I think it should be on you as soil but I digress because that's where you get away with champion versus champion and their battle and for the that stupid ring and if 225 00:42:13,680 --> 00:42:23,680 if Cody is still the champion then Cody still has the ring so that you would almost get a ring defense out of that point that's the right thing they're doing that every year that's supposed to be the thing 226 00:42:23,680 --> 00:42:35,680 yeah I mean he's not this isn't like the dynamite diamond ring type stuff but it is kind of like I mean we get to we get to next year in you know odds are Cody and Gunther aren't the champions somebody's 227 00:42:35,680 --> 00:42:44,680 going to be a point that's not a rematch you know I think Cody sold on that title for a while but I mean I really I think he's got to make the year point at 228 00:42:44,680 --> 00:42:57,680 at at main at this point he they are not taking the title off them after well yeah I'm saying but like you to me when it was so the match what was that match like in May the crown jewel match 229 00:42:57,680 --> 00:43:06,680 June oh gee it was last June no no November November November because it was liver says Naya yeah so let's say I mean let's say Cody wins at 230 00:43:06,680 --> 00:43:17,680 mania we get to November if then you can do Cody and see what but they're not so they're not so they're only going to Saudi Arabia once next year or this year excuse me because they're doing the rumble in 231 00:43:17,680 --> 00:43:28,680 January next year so we're going in so what month are you going in this year Saudi Arabia is supposed to be reportedly June so this all on reports right now once 232 00:43:28,680 --> 00:43:35,680 this year and it's supposed to be in June so that could happen with mania taking place in April doctor try that's what I'm saying like if you come out of if you 233 00:43:35,680 --> 00:43:45,680 come out of mania with Sina and Cody as your respective champions and then have them fight at crown jewel in June champion versus champion so you get that Sina 234 00:43:45,680 --> 00:43:56,680 Rhodes match like I'm cool with that and that way the title neither titles on the line but otherwise if you do Cody and Sina I just think you don't have like they they both need to be 235 00:43:56,680 --> 00:44:09,960 non-world champions at that point just let it be just straight up respect passing the torch you know and build your other champions up at that point yeah yeah it's I think what we're getting at here is we don't want to see 236 00:44:09,960 --> 00:44:21,680 controversy Logan Paul we don't want to see Cody versus John Cena these next couple weeks are going to be really interesting to see how this restaurant may need car shakes out doctor try yeah I kind of want to know you 237 00:44:21,680 --> 00:44:35,680 with mention I kind of see those people that we mentioned I kind of want to see Logan Paul and see I'm punk yeah I mean I don't think punk wants that probably I mean with all I mean Logan Paul again every time I talk about 238 00:44:35,680 --> 00:44:50,680 him it's like they do this impressed me because he's given a shit about professional wrestling and does a really good job as a character him being on television does not resonate with me like it would you know if I was 20 years younger so I don't listen to his podcast I don't look at his 239 00:44:50,680 --> 00:45:05,680 content I know him and his brother of vocal lot of emotions from a lot of people whether it be in the wrestling circle or in the boxing circles but it doesn't do it for me I mean he plays the role of a dick really well he's 240 00:45:05,680 --> 00:45:18,680 extremely famous and extremely successful and he's a pretty damn good wrestler for the short amount of time but I think giving him a maniac match with gone there I just like I like this but you know that is old 241 00:45:18,680 --> 00:45:34,680 and that's where for about maybe nine months of the year this is lately has been booked as a wrestling company we could be running into the three or four months time of the year where it's booked as a sports entertainment company where yeah Logan Paul being in one of the 242 00:45:34,680 --> 00:45:47,680 major matches is a bigger deal than got the versus the amazane to the outside eyes looking in and makes more money for them which as we all know this is in fact a business so we'll see we'll see where things go and I'm excited I'm 243 00:45:47,680 --> 00:45:59,680 excited for the rumble coming up here soon switching gears from WWE to a W Doctor Trey the death writers storyline and angle is one that we've been highly critical of I think most 244 00:45:59,680 --> 00:46:13,680 of been critical of it I find it to be terribly boring I think it is ran out of steam I think eight of you needs to abandon ship on the entire thing soon because I it's just is not doing it for me and you figured this entire time at the 245 00:46:13,680 --> 00:46:24,680 death writers were being the catalyst in the antagonist to build up the next big baby facing a W well when we looked at that list when it for all first started you had will 246 00:46:24,680 --> 00:46:34,680 us break you it's worth strictly you had a darby Allen like as some faces that could can rise up ever since the death writers launch will us break lost 247 00:46:34,680 --> 00:46:43,680 ton of momentum sort of strictly lost a ton of momentum Darby Allen has lost a ton of momentum it feels like death writers have been zero in on 248 00:46:43,680 --> 00:46:52,680 Darby Allen and it had always always has felt like that the plan was that this storyline is to try catapult Darby Allen as the face of the company for a period of 249 00:46:52,680 --> 00:47:08,680 time as it's world champion you would figure that would be coming sooner rather than later however I read a report recently that Darby is going to be scaling Mount Everest again and the angle that they ran over the holidays where the 250 00:47:08,680 --> 00:47:17,680 death writers like kicked them down a flight of stairs in the Hammerstein was done to write him off not for a couple weeks but for a couple of months. 251 00:47:17,680 --> 00:47:46,680 All I can think of doctor trade is what the hell is Darby Allen and AEW doing one I get this is a dream for Darby Allen more power to him but from a professional business standpoint this very well could be your opening to make a lot of money and become a major star for AEW and you're choosing to walk away for a period of time and if you're AEW you are trying to keep your head 252 00:47:46,680 --> 00:48:06,680 above water and you're letting this guy who could potentially be the catapult from this death writer storyline that is is just dying on the screen walk away for a period of time for a couple of months like by the time Darby comes back they may have in fact abandoned ship on this angle doctor 253 00:48:06,680 --> 00:48:24,680 and the fans to me just aren't feeling it I could not believe this this is like a crazy business decision in my standpoint and I was utterly shocked and surprised that like Darby Allen is walking away for a period of time and AEW is letting them do it. 254 00:48:24,680 --> 00:48:33,680 Yeah I mean this is where we had earlier this year we had these comparisons we went you know about has Tony Khan become Vince McMahon. 255 00:48:33,680 --> 00:48:39,680 Vince would never let a young baby face take off two or three months ago climb Mount Everest. 256 00:48:39,680 --> 00:49:08,680 Especially somebody like look I'm positioning you to become the breakout baby face star be the top guy could you imagine you events telling you of Shawn Michael say hey I'm going to go like during Sean's P or Austin Austin's on that Austin 316 come up he's in her kind of champion he's winning the rumble and then he goes hey I'm going to skip out on WrestleMania because I really wanted to travel Route 66 from start to finish. 257 00:49:08,680 --> 00:49:32,680 So I'm going to be gone for like two months I got I got a train I want to do the Tom Hanks cross country for us gum run to see America and Vince looks at this stone cold as yeah fine let's just go do that I just bottom blows my mind like you're you're said you want this young man to be the guy that kind of takes over as the top baby face in your company but you're going to. 258 00:49:32,680 --> 00:49:44,680 Let him just up and leave for two months and then to write about like I mean some of the times when they do crazy injury angles and the guys back in him and likes. 259 00:49:44,680 --> 00:49:46,680 Swurve you know like. 260 00:49:46,680 --> 00:50:01,680 Swurve got dropped on her to it was a hangman got dropped on a cinder block on his head during cage matches back in three weeks Darby falls down some stairs is we got three months like sometimes it doesn't make sense as well so. 261 00:50:01,680 --> 00:50:28,680 The death writers saying it needs something else added to the mix we need a finance or we need a backer we need a heavy he will we need shame McMahon is where you're saying yeah shame McMahon I mean that's what we thought was happening yeah or like let's somebody on the Paul haven't level not Paul himself but somebody on that somebody that is a non wrestler or non competitor by a great talker to come in because. 262 00:50:28,680 --> 00:50:51,680 I love mox but sometimes his promos rambo Claudio pop Wheeler can't cut promos you need somebody to to sound like they're the heavy in this I mean even if it's don't call us for this matter like I really don't care at this point it needs something else added to the mix it needs to feel like when the N. W. O. debut ted D. B. Aussie. 263 00:50:51,680 --> 00:51:20,680 And you're like oh okay and then it later became Eric bishoff you need that guy to guy stand like this is a complete takeover not just a wrestling takeover but we're taking over the entire company like four guys holding down the entire company doesn't make sense and to me this all sets up perfectly if you want to do Kenny and the bucks against the death writers that would make sense because you have the EVPs against these guys trying to take over the company Kenny's back that would create some entry but. 264 00:51:20,680 --> 00:51:32,680 Right now like the way they're booking this thing it's it's ACEs and eights I mean that's how it feels to be right now dude that spot on. 265 00:51:32,680 --> 00:51:49,680 That I mean that is a spot on comparison ACEs and eights I mean it's just it's not great it's not a great angle right now I'm done watching it it does not have any entry for me in a W and it's it's always is felt like to me that Darby was to be the guy like a 266 00:51:49,680 --> 00:52:07,680 my am I off base your Dutch trade did were you in agreement there like you always felt like this was being done to help help elevate Darby is there going to be Darby or orange and orange kind of ran as course and obviously I don't feel like they think Jay whites the guy so kind of did feel like Darby I mean well they could have done 267 00:52:07,680 --> 00:52:21,680 Osprey and swerve to but I don't know why they never went in that direction I don't either because if you had swerve coming to the defense of AEW for what's the what's the double cage mash they have the their version of 268 00:52:21,680 --> 00:52:36,680 and got blood and guts blood and guts you have swerve being the captain of team AEW blood and guts but then these other guys come in like hey we're taking the company and swerves like cool I'm going to fight Bobby lashley like that it just didn't make sense to me but it I mean you had Darby 269 00:52:36,680 --> 00:52:52,680 getting the sting rub for three years for him to not be the guy as a big sense but then again this is the same guy who lost a casket match cleanly to jack Perry so well I mean the way he's been booked the way Darby 270 00:52:52,680 --> 00:53:02,680 Osprey swerve has been booked has been so peculiar I mean we talked about Claudio beating the crap out of Darby and I'm like what how is this supposed to be the guy that 271 00:53:02,680 --> 00:53:17,680 a theoretically in my mind is the one that takes out the death writers if he's getting his ass kicked by Claudio what are we doing I mean for them not to take any of those three Darby swerve and osprey going back to the fall of last 272 00:53:17,680 --> 00:53:31,680 year and all those guys were writing so high and and having a really good year more osprey and swerve in my opinion and you don't capitalize on it in this angle and even get any of 273 00:53:31,680 --> 00:53:45,680 them going and instead they're outside of this angle and all the momentum that they built up the past year completely is eviscerated is beyond me but that is a w creative 274 00:53:45,680 --> 00:53:52,680 in a nutshell so I saw that story and I was like you have got to be shitting me so this death writers thing is going to go on for a while or I don't 275 00:53:52,680 --> 00:54:02,680 know who the hell is going to be the person that stops the death writers eventually in saves a w I mean I guess you know they may be looking at Adam Copeland or now known as 276 00:54:02,680 --> 00:54:13,680 Cope but Kenny Omega would make a ton of sense as well but I don't know man it I wanted to see a new star kind of get elevated here and Kenny and Copeland or 277 00:54:13,680 --> 00:54:27,680 two names that are established well Copeland's not as cop is not established yet because I saw that that's that's I don't know if that is the worst name change I've seen anybody pull off 278 00:54:27,680 --> 00:54:37,680 recently but it's he done the butch was pretty bad that was bad but coped just sounds like you know like like you have a unresolved 279 00:54:37,680 --> 00:54:48,680 dependency issues true that is true he is he's literally on the edge he just cannot coped all right Dr. Shrey with that said let's close up shop on this 280 00:54:48,680 --> 00:54:55,680 week's edition of SRT you you can download show every Thursday or Friday real
