  Speaker 1: we take some time with Him, our relationship with Him

  Speaker 1: will grow, and as your relationship with God grows, you

  Speaker 1: experience more of God at work in your life. His

  Speaker 1: power flows through your relationship with Him. And if there's

  Speaker 1: something wrong in your relationship with God, then there's no
• 0:33
  Speaker 1: surprise if you're not experiencing God at work in your life.

  Speaker 1: If your relationship with God is healthy, then you see
• 0:41
  Speaker 1: God in your life at every turn.

  Speaker 1: Well, let's make our relationship with God a little bit

  Speaker 1: better today as we start the day by listening to Him.

  Speaker 1: We're talking this week about why we should obey God.

  Speaker 1: And today we come to 2 Corinthians chapter 5, verse
• 0:59
  Speaker 1: 9 in the Bible.

  Speaker 1: The apostle Paul writing says, therefore, being always of good
• 1:07
  Speaker 1: courage and knowing that while we are at home in
• 1:11
  Speaker 1: the body.

  Speaker 1: We are absent from the Lord, for we walk by faith,

  Speaker 1: not by sight.
• 1:18
  Speaker 1: We are of good courage, I say, and would prefer
• 1:22
  Speaker 1: rather to be absent from this body and to be
• 1:24
  Speaker 1: at home with the Lord in heaven, that is.

  Speaker 1: Therefore, also we have as our ambition.

  Speaker 1: As our driving motivation in life whether at home or absent.

  Speaker 1: To be pleasing to him.

  Speaker 1: You know,

  Speaker 1: Even if my obedience to God does nothing for me.

  Speaker 1: It gives me the opportunity to please God.

  Speaker 1: And he's the one that I love the most.

  Speaker 1: Think about your relationship in your family. You know, if

  Speaker 1: I do things for my wife just so that she'll
• 2:06
  Speaker 1: do things back for me, well, our relationship's not healthy,

  Speaker 1: is it?

  Speaker 1: And in the same way, your relationship with God needs
• 2:16
  Speaker 1: to become so much more than just your attempts to
• 2:21
  Speaker 1: stay in His good books so that He'll bless you
• 2:25
  Speaker 1: in your life.

  Speaker 1: You know how you know that you've really come to
• 2:30
  Speaker 1: love God.

  Speaker 1: You know it when you continue to obey God, even
• 2:37
  Speaker 1: when He chooses not to make life easy or pleasant
• 2:42
  Speaker 1: for you.

  Speaker 1: Do you love God only for what He does for you?

  Speaker 1: Or have you learned to love God just for Himself?
• 2:54
  Speaker 1: Have you learned to love God simply because of the
• 2:57
  Speaker 1: beauty of who He is?
• 2:59
  Speaker 1: His heart of love.

  Speaker 1: The beauty of his nature.
• 3:05
  Speaker 1: Have you learned the wonderful joy of simply pleasing God

  Speaker 1: with no strings attached.

  Speaker 1: Why don't you just stop right now?

  Speaker 1: And have a prayer time in your life today.

  Speaker 1: In which you ask for nothing except that God would
• 3:24
  Speaker 1: show you how to please Him today.

  Speaker 1: That God would show you how to please Him today.
