- 0:02Speaker 1: Life Audio. Well, hello there, friends and faithful listeners. This
- 0:06Speaker 1: is Jen with the Bible Explained Podcast. I hope you
- 0:10Speaker 1: all have been having a very good start to your
- 0:11Speaker 1: week so far. We are in Hebrews three today and
- 0:15Speaker 1: we're going to talk about more attributes of Jesus. You know,
- 0:18Speaker 1: we talked first about his divinity, then we talked about
- 0:21Speaker 1: his humanity on Thursday. But in today's episode, we're going
- 0:24Speaker 1: to talk about how he's greater than even Moses and
- 0:29Speaker 1: why the author actually mentions Moses. You know, a lot
- 0:33Speaker 1: of people don't really think about Moses, I suppose in
- 0:35Speaker 1: today's day and age, but remember that the Book of
- 0:38Speaker 1: Hebrews was written to the Jewish people who really venerated
- 0:43Speaker 1: Moses pretty much throughout all ages, including today. So we
- 0:47Speaker 1: will get into that topic in just one moment. And
- 0:56Speaker 1: before we begin today's episode, feel free to grab your
- 0:59Speaker 1: favorite version the Bible. And also, you're a delicious cup
- 1:02Speaker 1: of coffee or a cup of tea this morning, as
- 1:04Speaker 1: the sponsor gives a quick message or two to you guys.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Now before we begin today's episode, I have been dying
- 1:12Speaker 1: to tell you guys a little bit about what's going
- 1:14Speaker 1: on in my life. Recently because it's really good things. Actually,
- 1:18Speaker 1: I have been doing the worship leading at my church
- 1:21Speaker 1: once again with my husband, so right now my husband
- 1:24Speaker 1: and I are the youth leaders and also the worship leaders.
- 1:29Speaker 1: So I do apologize because you've probably noticed I haven't
- 1:32Speaker 1: been as active on you know, social media, YouTube, or
- 1:36Speaker 1: on my emails. But I asked that you give me
- 1:39Speaker 1: grace because taking on a new responsibility, especially during Easter,
- 1:45Speaker 1: the busiest time of the Christian season, is a lot
- 1:48Speaker 1: of work, but it is so much fun. Like I
- 1:50Speaker 1: am honestly having an absolute blast with it. It is
- 1:55Speaker 1: like what I was created to do. Quite honestly, I love,
- 1:58Speaker 1: absolutely love doing it. But let's go ahead and read
- 2:01Speaker 1: Hebrews Chapter three today, verses one through six. I'll be
- 2:05Speaker 1: reading this as usual from the w EB. Let's jump
- 2:09Speaker 1: into God's word together. Therefore, holy brothers, partakers of a
- 2:14Speaker 1: heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and high priest of our confession, Jesus,
- 2:19Speaker 1: who was faithful to him who appointed him as also Moses,
- 2:22Speaker 1: was in all his house. For he has been counted
- 2:25Speaker 1: worthy of more glory than Moses, because he who built
- 2:28Speaker 1: the house has more honor than the house. For every
- 2:31Speaker 1: house is built by someone, But he who built all
- 2:34Speaker 1: things is God. Moses indeed was faithful in all his
- 2:37Speaker 1: house as a servant for a testimony of those things
- 2:39Speaker 1: which were afterward to be spoken. But Christ is faithful
- 2:43Speaker 1: as a son over his house. We are his house
- 2:46Speaker 1: if we hold fast our confidence and the glorying of
- 2:49Speaker 1: our hope firm to the end. So far in Hebrews
- 2:54Speaker 1: we have talked about how Jesus is greater than the angels,
- 2:57Speaker 1: and all of the Old Testament prophecies and verses that
- 3:01Speaker 1: talk about how Jesus was greater than the angels. That
- 3:04Speaker 1: was discussed in Hebrews one and also part of Hebrews two.
- 3:08Speaker 1: And then on Thursday we talked about the second portion
- 3:10Speaker 1: of Hebrews two, which discussed why Jesus came to earth
- 3:13Speaker 1: in the first place, why he had to become human,
- 3:16Speaker 1: and the five reasons why he did that. It's not
- 3:19Speaker 1: just one simple reason, but it's actually many reasons why
- 3:22Speaker 1: Jesus came to earth as a human being. And one
- 3:25Speaker 1: of those reasons was that Jesus could become our high priest.
- 3:29Speaker 1: And we talked about what that means a little bit
- 3:31Speaker 1: last week. So we're going to go more into that today.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Starting in verse one of Hebrews three, it says, therefore,
- 3:38Speaker 1: holy brothers, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider the Apostle
- 3:43Speaker 1: and High Priest of our confession Jesus. This verse starts
- 3:48Speaker 1: out by calling us holy brothers. Now, that Greek word
- 3:51Speaker 1: for brothers is not just referring to men. It basically
- 3:54Speaker 1: means brothers and sisters. And some of the versions that
- 3:58Speaker 1: you guys have may actually say brothers and sisters, but
- 4:02Speaker 1: essentially it means the Christian household. Okay, So therefore, Christian household,
- 4:08Speaker 1: partakers of a heavenly calling, consider the apostle and high Priest.
- 4:13Speaker 1: And what is that heavenly calling? What are we called
- 4:17Speaker 1: to do? Well? The heavenly calling is talked about in
- 4:20Speaker 1: the previous chapter. Hebrews two. Verse ten talks about Jesus's
- 4:24Speaker 1: heavenly calling. It says, for it became him, for whom
- 4:29Speaker 1: are all things, and through whom are all things, in
- 4:31Speaker 1: bringing many children to glory, to make the author of
- 4:35Speaker 1: their salvation perfect through sufferings, And then jumping down to
- 4:39Speaker 1: verse seventeen, it says, therefore he was obligated in all
- 4:42Speaker 1: things to be made like his brothers, so that he
- 4:44Speaker 1: might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things
- 4:48Speaker 1: pertaining to God, to make atonement for the sins of
- 4:51Speaker 1: the people. So the heavenly calling that Jesus had was
- 4:55Speaker 1: to bring many children into glory. So since that was
- 5:00Speaker 1: Jesus's purpose for coming to earth and his heavenly calling,
- 5:04Speaker 1: now that we as Christians have become children of God,
- 5:09Speaker 1: we also partake in that same calling that Jesus had.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Hence why Jesus told his disciples and everybody that was
- 5:17Speaker 1: to believe in him to do the great commission, which
- 5:20Speaker 1: is to go out into the world and preach the
- 5:22Speaker 1: Gospel to every creature, baptizing them in the name of
- 5:26Speaker 1: the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. So that's actually our mission.
- 5:31Speaker 1: We have a heavenly calling because that was Jesus's mission
- 5:35Speaker 1: for coming down to earth, which he then gave to
- 5:38Speaker 1: us when he ascended back up into heaven. So it's
- 5:40Speaker 1: a very important mission that we have. It's to evangelize
- 5:45Speaker 1: to all people. And you might be like Jen evangelism
- 5:48Speaker 1: is not my gift. It says in scripture that evangelism
- 5:51Speaker 1: is a spiritual gift. I don't have that gift. So
- 5:54Speaker 1: I really don't want to evangelize, and I feel like
- 5:57Speaker 1: I don't have to. So do not have the gift
- 6:01Speaker 1: of evangelism. I know people who can go up to
- 6:06Speaker 1: just a stranger and start talking to them about Jesus
- 6:08Speaker 1: with literally no care in the world. I know people
- 6:12Speaker 1: like that. My brother in law is like that. I
- 6:14Speaker 1: have a friend that helps us that youth group who
- 6:16Speaker 1: is also like that. I remember one time we went
- 6:19Speaker 1: roller skating together with our young adults group, and suddenly
- 6:22Speaker 1: we're like, where's Mason, Like where did he go? And
- 6:25Speaker 1: he's like roller skating around with some guy he just met,
- 6:29Speaker 1: and he's just evangelizing to this guy and talking to
- 6:33Speaker 1: him about Jesus for like an hour straight. I don't
- 6:37Speaker 1: have that gift, you know. I can't go up to
- 6:38Speaker 1: any random stranger and start talking to them about Jesus,
- 6:42Speaker 1: let alone anything else in my life. I don't have
- 6:45Speaker 1: that spiritual gift. God did not give me the spiritual
- 6:48Speaker 1: gift of evangelism. But we're still called to evangelize in
- 6:52Speaker 1: whatever way we can. Evangelism is not just going up
- 6:57Speaker 1: to people and talking to them about Jesus. That can
- 7:00Speaker 1: certainly be part of it, but Evangelism is shining our
- 7:05Speaker 1: lights to people in whatever way we can. You guys
- 7:09Speaker 1: might be shocked actually that my gift is not evangelism
- 7:13Speaker 1: because I have a podcast where I evangelize all the time. However,
- 7:17Speaker 1: you all don't see the amount of e that I'm
- 7:21Speaker 1: like editing out of this podcast every single day. I
- 7:25Speaker 1: don't have the gift of articulate speaking, unfortunately, but I
- 7:28Speaker 1: do have the gift of being able to edit and
- 7:32Speaker 1: record and put these episodes up and make points come
- 7:36Speaker 1: together and make things sound cohesive. That is my gift,
- 7:40Speaker 1: and so I use that to evangelize. So as a Christian,
- 7:45Speaker 1: whatever gift you have, you can use it to evangelize.
- 7:49Speaker 1: If you have the gift of music, you can absolutely
- 7:53Speaker 1: use that gift to evangelize to people. If you have
- 7:56Speaker 1: the gift of administration and organization, you can absolutely evangelize
- 8:01Speaker 1: through those gifts. If you have the gift of being
- 8:04Speaker 1: able to clean houses or make food, or repair things
- 8:09Speaker 1: or handyman work, you can absolutely use those talents to
- 8:13Speaker 1: evangelize to people. There are so many different unique abilities
- 8:16Speaker 1: that God has gifted his people with, and you use
- 8:20Speaker 1: those things to minister to other Christians and also to
- 8:23Speaker 1: evangelize to those that are outside looking in. That is
- 8:28Speaker 1: how we evangelize, That is how we partake of this
- 8:31Speaker 1: heavenly calling that Jesus calls us to. We don't necessarily
- 8:36Speaker 1: have to go up to strangers or do street preaching
- 8:38Speaker 1: or anything like that, though there are some people that
- 8:40Speaker 1: are very good at those things. But we can do
- 8:42Speaker 1: the gifts that we are called to do to evangelize
- 8:46Speaker 1: to other people. So try to think about some of
- 8:48Speaker 1: those gifts, especially if you struggle with evangelism and it's
- 8:51Speaker 1: something that you really want to grow to do more of,
- 8:55Speaker 1: because yes, it is important. Jesus tells us it's important.
- 8:58Speaker 1: It's the last thing he could demanded us to do
- 9:00Speaker 1: before he ascended up into heaven. That is the goal
- 9:04Speaker 1: of being a Christian is to go out and to
- 9:07Speaker 1: bring other people into the Christian faith as well. It's
- 9:10Speaker 1: an evangelistic movement. So if you are struggling with that
- 9:13Speaker 1: aspect of your Christian life, think about the talents that
- 9:17Speaker 1: you have and how you can use those to minister
- 9:23Speaker 1: or evangelize or serve other people in your church and
- 9:27Speaker 1: in your community. Then you will partake of that heavenly
- 9:31Speaker 1: calling that Jesus gives us. So continuing on in this verse,
- 9:36Speaker 1: it says, consider the apostle and high priest of our confession, Jesus.
- 9:42Speaker 1: That word consider doesn't just mean think briefly about. It
- 9:46Speaker 1: means to take time and sit down and really think
- 9:51Speaker 1: about this. Think about the apostle and high priest of
- 9:56Speaker 1: our confession, Jesus. Now it calls Jesus a pont here,
- 10:00Speaker 1: which is kind of interesting because normally we think of
- 10:03Speaker 1: the apostles as the twelve apostles that Jesus selected, right,
- 10:07Speaker 1: But Hebrews actually says that Jesus is the apostle. An
- 10:11Speaker 1: apostle here is capitalized as well. The word apostle simply
- 10:16Speaker 1: means sent one or messenger, and Jesus was obviously the
- 10:21Speaker 1: greatest messenger to ever exist, and that's what Hebrews one,
- 10:25Speaker 1: verses one and two, talks about how God sent his
- 10:29Speaker 1: son to be the messenger or the apostle to the world.
- 10:33Speaker 1: So Hebrews one, starting in verse one, says, God, having
- 10:36Speaker 1: in the past spoken to the fathers through the prophets
- 10:39Speaker 1: at many times and in various ways, has at the
- 10:42Speaker 1: end of these days spoken to us by his son,
- 10:45Speaker 1: whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom also
- 10:48Speaker 1: he made the worlds. So, in other words, God sent
- 10:52Speaker 1: Jesus to be the messenger. He is literally the apostle,
- 10:57Speaker 1: and it says that he's also the high priest of
- 10:59Speaker 1: our confession. Now we just read that verse in Hebrews
- 11:02Speaker 1: chapter two, which is verse seventeen. It says he was
- 11:06Speaker 1: obligated in all things to be made like his brothers,
- 11:08Speaker 1: so that he might become a merciful and faithful high
- 11:11Speaker 1: priest in the pertaining to God, to make atonement for
- 11:14Speaker 1: the sins of the people. So Jesus is both the
- 11:18Speaker 1: apostle and also the high priest. So we have to
- 11:22Speaker 1: consider these things. How God himself sent you and me,
- 11:29Speaker 1: You personally a high priest and an apostle, and he
- 11:33Speaker 1: is both our personal high priest and also the high
- 11:37Speaker 1: priest of the entire church. So we can go to
- 11:40Speaker 1: Jesus with our sins and confess them to Jesus, knowing
- 11:44Speaker 1: that Jesus cares about us, that he's our high priest.
- 11:47Speaker 1: Think about what the high priest did back in the
- 11:49Speaker 1: Old Testament days. The high priest would make atonement for
- 11:54Speaker 1: the people. That means that he would go to God
- 11:56Speaker 1: on behalf of the people, because the people all sinned
- 12:00Speaker 1: all the time, and the high priest would go to
- 12:02Speaker 1: God and say, God, these people sinned, Please forgive them
- 12:06Speaker 1: in your mercy, and then the high priest would offer
- 12:09Speaker 1: a sacrifice for the people and would basically just be
- 12:14Speaker 1: the intercessor for the people. That is what Jesus has become.
- 12:19Speaker 1: There's no longer any need for a levitical high priest
- 12:22Speaker 1: because we have the ultimate high priest, the one that
- 12:26Speaker 1: sits at the right hand of God the Father. So
- 12:29Speaker 1: when we sin, when we offend God the Father, we
- 12:33Speaker 1: can go to Jesus and say, Jesus, I messed up.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Please be my high priest on my behalf. Or you
- 12:41Speaker 1: can go directly to God the Father and say, God,
- 12:44Speaker 1: I sinned and I offended you, and I hurt other
- 12:48Speaker 1: people in my life with what I did, and I
- 12:50Speaker 1: ask for your forgiveness. But I have a high priest
- 12:54Speaker 1: who paid the price for my sins. And that's something
- 12:57Speaker 1: that Hebrews tells us to CONSI on a day to
- 13:01Speaker 1: day basis, consider our apostle and high priest of our confession,
- 13:05Speaker 1: Jesus first two who was faithful to him, who appointed
- 13:09Speaker 1: him as also Moses was in all his house. That's
- 13:12Speaker 1: kind of funny now the author brings Moses into the picture,
- 13:16Speaker 1: because in the last two chapters the author was very
- 13:19Speaker 1: adamant about how the Angels were not greater than Jesus.
- 13:25Speaker 1: But don't forget who the author of Hebrews is talking to. Here,
- 13:29Speaker 1: he's talking to the Hebrews. He's talking to the Israelites,
- 13:32Speaker 1: the Jewish people, who believed that Moses was like the
- 13:37Speaker 1: greatest man to ever have existed. Some Jews even believe
- 13:41Speaker 1: that Moses was greater than the Angels. In fact, the
- 13:44Speaker 1: Jewish people to this day deeply revere Moses. They venerate
- 13:48Speaker 1: him as their greatest prophet, teacher, and leader. They believe
- 13:52Speaker 1: he holds a central, honored position as the mediator of
- 13:56Speaker 1: the Torah and the Covenant at Sinai. And so this
- 13:59Speaker 1: of course made me wonder if there's ever been Moses
- 14:02Speaker 1: worship in Judaism throughout the ages, and as far as
- 14:05Speaker 1: I've researched and seen, there hasn't been. But I did
- 14:09Speaker 1: find a very interesting post here on Quorra, and the
- 14:12Speaker 1: question being answered was do the Jews worship Moses? And
- 14:16Speaker 1: this one person on Qra says God forbid. Only God
- 14:20Speaker 1: is worthy of worship. No human being is to be
- 14:23Speaker 1: worshiped or to be compared far less equated with God.
- 14:28Speaker 1: And then right after this it says Moses equals the
- 14:30Speaker 1: true prophet, in fact, the greatest prophet who ever lived,
- 14:34Speaker 1: based on Deuteronomy thirty four to ten. And then right
- 14:37Speaker 1: after that it says Jesus equals the false prophet, the
- 14:40Speaker 1: false Messiah, and the false God with a little g
- 14:44Speaker 1: So I found that kind of funny, because you know,
- 14:47Speaker 1: the Jews believe that they are not worshiping Moses above God,
- 14:54Speaker 1: and yet to this person right here is claiming that
- 14:57Speaker 1: Moses is the true prophet and that Jesus is a
- 15:00Speaker 1: false prophet and a false Messiah. So actually the Jews
- 15:03Speaker 1: are venerating Moses above God, interestingly enough, but they don't
- 15:07Speaker 1: believe that Jesus is God, even though there's so much
- 15:10Speaker 1: Old Testament evidence, as we've seen in the Book of Hebrews,
- 15:13Speaker 1: to prove without a shadow of a doubt that Jesus
- 15:17Speaker 1: was the true Messiah. Several years ago, when we were
- 15:20Speaker 1: going through the Book of Leviticus, I had Andrew rappaport
- 15:23Speaker 1: On and he told me his story about how he
- 15:26Speaker 1: became a Messianic Jew, which means a Jewish person that
- 15:30Speaker 1: believes in Jesus. He started going through the Old Testament
- 15:33Speaker 1: prophets with a friend and quickly came to the realization
- 15:38Speaker 1: that Jesus was the true Messiah after reading through the
- 15:42Speaker 1: Old Testament prophets. Interestingly enough, and there's a lot of
- 15:44Speaker 1: Jewish people that that happens to them. When they really
- 15:47Speaker 1: start studying what the Torah and the Old Testament has
- 15:51Speaker 1: to say, they come to the realization that Jesus is
- 15:55Speaker 1: the true Messiah. But for the Jews that don't believe
- 15:59Speaker 1: that Jesus is the true Missa and that he's a
- 16:00Speaker 1: false God, they do, in fact worship Moses above Jesus.
- 16:06Speaker 1: And that was what the author of Hebrews was dealing
- 16:08Speaker 1: with in his day. Was this really a strong veneration
- 16:13Speaker 1: of Moses, not exactly a worship of Moses, but this
- 16:16Speaker 1: high honor given to Moses, that he might even be
- 16:20Speaker 1: above the angels himself. So that is something obviously that
- 16:23Speaker 1: the author has to address because the first two chapters
- 16:26Speaker 1: was him saying that Jesus is above the angels. So
- 16:29Speaker 1: now he has to discuss Moses and say Jesus is
- 16:33Speaker 1: also above Moses. That's what it says right here, Jesus
- 16:37Speaker 1: who was faithful to him who appointed him godfather, as
- 16:41Speaker 1: also Moses was faithful in all his house. For he
- 16:45Speaker 1: has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, because
- 16:49Speaker 1: he who built the house has more honor than the house.
- 16:55Speaker 1: So that's why Jesus is greater than Moses, because Jesus
- 16:59Speaker 1: is God, and Jesus was the one who built the
- 17:02Speaker 1: house that Moses is part of. That's talked about in
- 17:06Speaker 1: onirse Corinthians three. At some length, it says in verse
- 17:10Speaker 1: Corinthians three, verse nine, for we are God's fellow workers.
- 17:14Speaker 1: You are God's farming, God's building, and then jumping down
- 17:18Speaker 1: to verse eleven in the same chapter, it says, for
- 17:21Speaker 1: no one can lay any other foundation than that which
- 17:24Speaker 1: has been laid, which is Christ Jesus. Then also jumping
- 17:28Speaker 1: down to verse sixteen and seventeen, don't you know that
- 17:31Speaker 1: you are God's temple and that God's spirit lives in you.
- 17:34Speaker 1: If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him. For
- 17:38Speaker 1: God's temple is holy, which you are. So God essentially
- 17:43Speaker 1: is the one who built the foundation and the Temple.
- 17:47Speaker 1: You and I, when we believe in Jesus kind of
- 17:50Speaker 1: become the individual bricks that make up that temple. But
- 17:54Speaker 1: the builder is Jesus himself. He's the one that came
- 17:58Speaker 1: down to earth and made a new temple where the
- 18:02Speaker 1: Holy Spirit can reside. We've talked with so much length
- 18:06Speaker 1: about the Temple in the Old Testament. You know how
- 18:10Speaker 1: first it was a tent where God's spirit would travel
- 18:14Speaker 1: around with his people in the wilderness. Then it became
- 18:17Speaker 1: the temple, which was a fixed, beautiful building where the
- 18:20Speaker 1: Holy Spirit would reside and live among his people in Jerusalem.
- 18:26Speaker 1: But now the Holy Spirit no longer resides in a
- 18:29Speaker 1: tent or a building, but he resides in the human hearts,
- 18:33Speaker 1: the people who believe in Jesus. And that's displayed when
- 18:36Speaker 1: Jesus was up on the cross and the curtain inside
- 18:40Speaker 1: the temple which was supposed to house the Holy Spirit.
- 18:44Speaker 1: You know, the Holy Spirit lived behind that curtain. It
- 18:46Speaker 1: ripped in two pieces from top to bottom. It was
- 18:50Speaker 1: like God was ripping that curtain to symbolize how the
- 18:52Speaker 1: Holy Spirit was no longer in that temple made with
- 18:56Speaker 1: human hands. Now the Holy Spirit lives in a temple
- 19:00Speaker 1: made by Jesus himself, And that's what the author of
- 19:04Speaker 1: Hebrews is getting at here. You know, Moses was just
- 19:06Speaker 1: a member of that house, and a member of that
- 19:10Speaker 1: house cannot be greater than the builder of that house.
- 19:14Speaker 1: And obviously Jesus is the builder of the house, so
- 19:17Speaker 1: Moses cannot be above Jesus, even though the Old Testament
- 19:22Speaker 1: gives a lot of honor to Moses. In fact, Deuteronomy
- 19:26Speaker 1: thirty four, verse ten, which interestingly is the verse that
- 19:30Speaker 1: that guy from Qua quoted when he was saying that
- 19:34Speaker 1: Moses is greater than Jesus, Deuteronomy thirty four to ten says,
- 19:38Speaker 1: since then there has not arisen a prophet in Israel
- 19:41Speaker 1: like Moses, whom yahweh knew face to face. So that's
- 19:45Speaker 1: the verse that the Jewish people quote to say that
- 19:47Speaker 1: Moses was the greatest prophet, greatest person basically to ever live,
- 19:52Speaker 1: even greater than Jesus. But don't forget that the author
- 19:55Speaker 1: of Deuteronomy thirty four, who most likely was Joshua, was
- 19:59Speaker 1: writing in his own lifetime thousands of years before Jesus
- 20:03Speaker 1: even came down to earth. So yeah, Moses was certainly
- 20:07Speaker 1: the greatest prophet in his lifetime and maybe even several
- 20:11Speaker 1: lifetimes to come. But Jesus is far, far greater, because
- 20:17Speaker 1: he is God. He built the house that Moses was
- 20:22Speaker 1: a part of. So, going back to Hebrews three, verse five,
- 20:26Speaker 1: it says, Moses indeed was faithful in all his house
- 20:29Speaker 1: as a servant for a testimony of the things which
- 20:32Speaker 1: were afterward to be spoken. But Christ is faithful as
- 20:35Speaker 1: a son over his house. We are his house if
- 20:39Speaker 1: we hold fast our confidence and the glorying of our
- 20:42Speaker 1: hope firm to the end. So the author makes a
- 20:46Speaker 1: distinction between Moses and Jesus. He says, yeah, Moses was
- 20:50Speaker 1: a great man. He was a servant who did very
- 20:54Speaker 1: well with what he was supposed to do. But Jesus
- 20:57Speaker 1: is a son over the house, not a servant. He
- 21:01Speaker 1: is an owner of the house, you know, because think
- 21:04Speaker 1: about the servant and son relationship. The servant may take
- 21:08Speaker 1: care of things in the house. The servant might have
- 21:11Speaker 1: a lot of honor in the house. But the son,
- 21:14Speaker 1: the one who is heir of the property, is the
- 21:17Speaker 1: one who truly has the greater honor over the servant.
- 21:22Speaker 1: So the author of Hebrews is covering all the bases
- 21:25Speaker 1: here to prove that Jesus is God, that he is
- 21:29Speaker 1: greater than all creation because he created the universe, That
- 21:34Speaker 1: he is greater than the angels because the angels are
- 21:38Speaker 1: just servants of God. And also that he is greater
- 21:41Speaker 1: than Moses, because again Moses was just a servant of God.
- 21:47Speaker 1: But Jesus is a son and the apostle and the
- 21:51Speaker 1: high priest. All right, faithful listeners, I'll be back in
- 21:56Speaker 1: just a second, right after this sponsored ad. I was
- 22:00Speaker 1: telling my husband this morning, in preparation for talking about Hebrews,
- 22:06Speaker 1: that if I only had one book of the Bible
- 22:09Speaker 1: that I was allowed to read for the rest of
- 22:10Speaker 1: my life, and I couldn't read any of the other books,
- 22:12Speaker 1: I'd probably choose Hebrews. That is how much I love
- 22:17Speaker 1: this book and how deep it is, and how much
- 22:20Speaker 1: content there is about the divinity of Jesus. It basically
- 22:24Speaker 1: just goes through all the different attributes of Jesus, his godhood,
- 22:30Speaker 1: his humanity, how he's the high priest. But the Book
- 22:34Speaker 1: of Hebrews, towards the end is actually a very positive
- 22:37Speaker 1: book about the faithful people that have existed throughout all
- 22:42Speaker 1: the ages, and it's going to be a lot of
- 22:43Speaker 1: fun to go over those chapters later on as well. So,
- 22:47Speaker 1: faithful listeners, I hope you guys enjoy the Book of
- 22:50Speaker 1: Hebrews as much as I have been, and I hope
- 22:53Speaker 1: that you all have a fantastic and wonderful day. I'll
- 22:55Speaker 1: see you guys tomorrow, bright and early six am or
- 22:57Speaker 1: whenever you choose to wake up and listen for an
- 23:00Speaker 1: episode from Second Chronicles. We are almost done with Second Chronicles.
- 23:04Speaker 1: I think we have six more chapters left, which means
- 23:07Speaker 1: that we'll probably be done with Second Chronicles by mid April,
- 23:12Speaker 1: so next month, and after that we'll be moving into
- 23:16Speaker 1: season eleven of the podcast with the Book of Ezra,
- 23:20Speaker 1: Nehemiah and Esther, which I'm very much looking forward to
- 23:23Speaker 1: talking about those books as well, especially the Book of Esther,
- 23:27Speaker 1: you know, because that's like the female book. All Right,
- 23:30Speaker 1: you guys, I'll see you all on the podcast tomorrow.
- 23:32Speaker 1: Happy listening, and God bless. I just want to take
