Transcript
- This is the New Realm Compliance Brief, Volume One, Edition Forty-Six, for Monday, September Twenty-Eighth. Our top story: A University of New Hampshire poll finds Massachusetts voters oppose the November ballot initiative to repeal regulated adult-use cannabis sales by seventy-one percent to twenty-four percent. The measure would end licensed commercial sales and home cultivation while keeping possession legal and the medical program in place. It drew the lowest support of any initiative in the poll. Voters decide on November third. On the federal side, a reminder for importers and distributors: the presidential order excluding most Canadian packaged wine, spirits and beer from U.S. importation takes effect at twelve-oh-one a.m. Eastern on Tuesday, September twenty-ninth. Product already imported but not yet entered for consumption before the deadline stays subject to the existing fifty percent duty, which makes today the last day to enter in-transit or warehoused Canadian product. Around the states: In Pennsylvania, House Speaker Joanna McClinton said the state could legalize adult-use cannabis next year if Democrats flip three state Senate seats in November; earlier legalization bills passed the House but stalled in the Republican-controlled Senate. In Colorado, StayCon recalled forty-nine vape products after a lab detected methylene chloride, and the state's expanded solvent-testing rules are expected to take effect at the end of this month. And Michigan's Treasury posted the fourth-quarter wholesale price guidance that anchors the state's wholesale marijuana tax, effective October first, including forty cents per fluid ounce for infused liquids. On the radar: Virginia's Cannabis Control Authority is expected to open preliminary feedback on its draft retail rules in late October. Missouri's hemp THC restrictions take effect November twelfth, and the federal hemp redefinition takes effect December eleventh. Full details and source links are in today's email.
