- 0:00Hey, welcome to The Ranch Radio Podcast.

- 0:04Three of a three-part series. So a conclusion.
- 0:08To our discussion. About paper 195, in which we're
- 0:11talking about the. Various ideologies that.
- 0:14Mankind is struggling with in the modern day and some
- 0:17insights. Provided to us by the
- 0:19revelators. In the second.
- 0:20To last paper of the ranch. Book.
- 0:22I know you'll enjoy it. We've covered materialism.
- 0:25The Vulnerabilities of Materialism, Secular
- 0:27Totalitarianism, which we covered in the last podcast.
- 0:30And finally, we get to the final chapter of Paper 195, and it's
- 0:34entitled Christianity's Problem. And what could that be?
- 0:38We'll talk about that in just a second here.
- 0:40I also want to thank you for stopping by and if you ever have
- 0:43a comment or a question. Or if there's a certain paper

- 1:10Welcome back to another edition of The Ranch Radio podcast.
- 1:12My name is Jim Watkins. It's.
- 1:14Good to be. Here I feel a sense of liberty.
- 1:16Today that I. Haven't felt in a long time and
- 1:22I've been spending so much time lately.
- 1:24Pondering the Paper 190. Five series that.
- 1:27We've been doing and I've also been reading some incredible
- 1:30writings from this gentleman that I think I mentioned on the
- 1:33last podcast by the name of Chuck Thurston.
- 1:36And Chuck is a long time your Antic book reader and and you
- 1:40may have run across his writings.
- 1:42I know that he does write for various urantial organizations
- 1:45and publications but some of his stuff is just pretty pretty
- 1:48profound. And I do and we did connect and
- 1:53he is going to IC23, so he'll. Be there.
- 1:56And I hope it's okay for me to mention that.
- 1:58And then when he comes back, we're going to have him come on
- 2:01and he and and much of his writings that I've.
- 2:03Read has to do with. The current times and the.
- 2:07The Callagastier role. And some of the things that's
- 2:11going on and and and maybe some of the things that are not have
- 2:14anything to do with the rebellion.
- 2:17But have to do with just the way that the Earth.
- 2:21The direction that the earth is going into it and some of the
- 2:24reasons why. But he.
- 2:25Also, and this is what's really fascinating, and if you're a
- 2:30long time you're Angie book reader, you know when you read.
- 2:33About the history. Melchizedek and what he did with
- 2:38the covenant that he made with Abraham, and then the subsequent
- 2:41history. Chuck.
- 2:43Does a really good job at. Breaking down what?
- 2:46How that period? Ended up affecting.
- 2:50The bestowal of Michael and then even today with.
- 2:53What we have? And the thing that's interesting
- 2:55is we are in the possession of an incredible revelation.
- 3:01An incredible revelation. This is an epic revelation, and
- 3:07we are the. Early adapters of this
- 3:10revelation. So into our hands comes this.
- 3:14Great privilege, the. Challenge is that we're in a
- 3:18world. That isn't quite.
- 3:21Ready to hear? Much of what?
- 3:24The Iran Book. Has to say about a spiritual.
- 3:27Kingdom who inhabit who inhabits it.
- 3:31What they do the history. Of.
- 3:34Of the Trinity, the evolution of the universe.
- 3:37All of these things are. Are just really.
- 3:40Profound religious ideals, but we live in an age that is not
- 3:44very religious. Or at least.
- 3:47The people that are in charge don't seem to be utilizing the
- 3:50strengths of religion, which is what we've been talking about in
- 3:54Paper 195, which is entitled after Pentecost.
- 3:57We went through materialism, We went through the vulnerabilities
- 4:02of materialism. And then in the last segment, I
- 4:07think it was Section 8, the revelators went over the dangers
- 4:11of secular totalitarianism and and all of.
- 4:15These are. Warnings to from our.
- 4:19Revelators at the authors of this book.
- 4:22And in this case, it's the Midway Commission, and they're
- 4:25trying to tell us that in order. For us to.
- 4:28Move in the right direction, We're going to have to make some
- 4:31changes, and these changes are necessary.
- 4:34Otherwise we're going to fall victim to our own nihilistic,
- 4:38materialistic tendencies. And so now we want to focus on
- 4:44Section 9. And it is entitled in that same
- 4:48paper 190. 5 Christianity's. Problem and and it's if you're a
- 4:54Christian you know it could it could offend you.
- 4:57I don't think it will. I'm a Christian and it doesn't
- 5:00offend me. I mean I I've always considered
- 5:02myself a Christian in in or Jesus Sonian or am I a follower
- 5:09of the master's teachings. Absolutely.
- 5:11Do I think he's the son of God? Absolutely so.
- 5:14Why wouldn't I qualify as a as a Christian?
- 5:18Right. So I I'm looking at this and
- 5:20saying okay, what can I do about my own religion and make it
- 5:24more? Attractive to other people
- 5:26because if we're going through a spiritual abyss if.
- 5:31If they're trying to say, you can't do that if you become an.
- 5:34Unspiritualized Society. There's going to be all kinds of
- 5:39havoc and much of it you're seeing today.
- 5:43What was? The last line in the preceding.
- 5:46Paragraph. The section on secular
- 5:49totalitarianism, the very last line says, And this is only the
- 5:53beginning of the dire harvest of materialism and secularism.
- 5:57Still more terrible destruction is yet to come.
- 6:01And they also talk. About how the first third of
- 6:03the. 20th century Your ancients killed more human beings than
- 6:06were killed. During the the.
- 6:08Whole of the. Christian dispensation up to
- 6:10that time. And now we're hearing about all
- 6:13these things that are going on culturally.
- 6:15The crime, drug addiction. We just saw sounds of freedom
- 6:19last weekend. It's shocking to learn that
- 6:22there's more slavery, more human slavery now than there was
- 6:27during the time of slavery there.
- 6:31A lot of things were wrong, and I don't mean to be a pessimist.
- 6:34But what the revelators are. Telling us?
- 6:37And what they have been telling us for 100 years.
- 6:41Is that a? Society can no longer be held.
- 6:44Together without God. Than a solar system without
- 6:46gravity And And what is God anyway?
- 6:50God is an idea. As we talked.
- 6:53About the Supreme Being, the plan of the Supreme is is in
- 6:59motion and we are participating in that.
- 7:01Process. God's already got a project for
- 7:04us. And too many people today have
- 7:07their own projects, and they're going to have one short life to
- 7:13accomplish. That if.
- 7:14They want to go on their own way and go.
- 7:17Rogue but. That's not the plan.
- 7:19And and so we all know that God's will is.
- 7:21Service. Serve others as you would like
- 7:23to be treated. Treat people with respect.
- 7:28Love your neighbor. Love your enemy.
- 7:30These are the basic truths that teaches.
- 7:33That that Christ taught and they are still relevant today.
- 7:36He still attracts people. And yet despite.
- 7:39This the world hates. Christianity many parts of the.
- 7:42World. It is a death sentence.
- 7:44Why is that? Well, let's take a look at that.
- 7:49In section 9 of paper 195, it says do not overlook the value.
- 7:53Of your spiritual heritage, the river of.
- 7:56Truth running down through the centuries, even to the barren
- 7:58times of a materialistic and secular.
- 8:01Age. In all your worthy.
- 8:03Efforts to rid yourself of the superstitious creeds of past
- 8:06ages. Make sure that you.
- 8:07Hold. Fast the eternal truths be, but
- 8:12be patient when the present superstition revolt is over.
- 8:17There is there the truth of Jesus.
- 8:19Gospel will persist gloriously. To illuminate a new and better
- 8:23way, these present superstition revolt.
- 8:27That's scientism asserting. Over faith.
- 8:32That's what the ideological struggle today.
- 8:35Is scientism which? Is as we.
- 8:37Discussed in the earlier paper on materialism is this notion
- 8:42that only the material is real and everything else.
- 8:46Is relative. The Urantia book writers affirm.
- 8:52That. Reality is threefold.
- 8:54It is mind, it is matter, and it is.
- 8:57Spirit. Those are three parallels.
- 9:01Of the same and they constitute total.
- 9:03Or the totality of reality? Science doesn't.
- 9:08Allow for that. Postulate, and that's why we're
- 9:12having the problems that we have.
- 9:13Today, because it has. Orphaned the human spirit.
- 9:17It's basically said. The human spirit is not real.
- 9:21It is a psychological problem. That can be treated, and that's
- 9:26from the secularist side. Then you've got the other older
- 9:29religions. That are antagonistic against.
- 9:34This particular. Brand which is the religion of
- 9:37Jesus. Love thy neighbor, love thyself.
- 9:41Worship thy God. Have a personal relationship
- 9:43with the loving. Father go about.
- 9:45Doing good. That's God's will.
- 9:48Okay, so let me continue on. But paganized and socialized
- 9:51Christianity stands in need of new contact with the
- 9:56uncompromised teachings of Jesus.
- 9:59It languishes for lack of a new vision of the master's life on
- 10:02earth. A new and fuller revelation of
- 10:05the religion of Jesus is destined to conquer an empire of
- 10:09materialistic secularism and to. Overthrow a world.
- 10:13Sway of mechanistic naturalism, Urantia is now quivering on the
- 10:19very brink of one of its most amazing and enthralling epics of
- 10:23social readjustment, moral quickening and spiritual
- 10:27enlightenment. The teachings of Jesus, even
- 10:29though greatly modified, survive the mystery cults.
- 10:32Of their birth. Time, the ignorance and the
- 10:35superstition of the Dark Ages, and are even now slowly
- 10:38triumphing, triumphing over the materialism, mechanism and
- 10:43secularism of the 20th century and such times of great testing
- 10:48and threatened. Defeat are always.
- 10:49Times of great Revelation. Religion does not need, does
- 10:56need new leaders, spiritual men and women.
- 11:00Who will dare? To depend solely on Jesus and
- 11:03his incomparable teachings if Christianity persists in
- 11:07neglecting its spiritual mission while it continues to.
- 11:11Busy itself with social. And material problems.
- 11:14The spiritual renaissance must await the coming of these new
- 11:18teachers of Jesus's religion. Who will be exclusively devoted?
- 11:24To the spiritual. Regeneration of men and then
- 11:28will the Spirit born? Souls quickly supply the
- 11:31leadership. And inspiration requisite for
- 11:34the. Social.
- 11:35Moral, Economic and Political Reorganization of the world, the
- 11:41Modern. Age will refuse to.
- 11:42Accept a religion which is inconsistent with facts and out
- 11:46of harmony with the highest conceptions of truth, beauty and
- 11:50goodness. The hour is.
- 11:53Striking for A. Rediscovery.
- 11:55Of the true and original foundation, a present day
- 11:58distorted and compromised Christianity, the real life and
- 12:03teachings. Of Jesus primitive.
- 12:07Men and man lived a life of superstitious bondage.
- 12:11To religious fear. Modern civilized men dread.
- 12:15The thought of. Falling under the dominance of
- 12:18strong religious convictions. Thinking man has always.
- 12:22Feared, Feared to be held by. A religion.
- 12:25When a strong and moving religion threatens to dominate
- 12:28him, he invariably. Tries to.
- 12:30Rationalize, traditionalize, and institutionalize it, thereby
- 12:36hoping to gain control of it. By such a procedure.
- 12:40Even a revealed religion becomes man made and man dominated.
- 12:44Modern men and women of intelligence evade the religion
- 12:48of Jesus. Because of their fears.
- 12:50Of what it will do? To them and with them and.
- 12:55All such fears are well founded. The.
- 12:58Religion of Jesus does indeed dominate and transform its.
- 13:01Believers. Demanding that men dedicate
- 13:04their lives to seeking for a knowledge.
- 13:08Of the will. Of the Father in Heaven, and
- 13:09requiring that the energies of living be consecrated to the
- 13:13unselfish service of the brotherhood of man.
- 13:18Selfish men and women simply will not pay such a.
- 13:21Price. For even the.
- 13:22Greatest spiritual treasure. Ever offered mortal man only
- 13:28when man has become sufficiently disillusioned.
- 13:31By the. Sorrowful disappointments
- 13:33attendant upon the foolish and deceptive pursuits of
- 13:37selfishness, and subsequent to the.
- 13:39Discovery of the. Barrenness of formalized
- 13:41religion. Will he be?
- 13:44Disposed to turn wholeheartedly. To the gospel.
- 13:47Of the Kingdom. The religion of Jesus of
- 13:50Nazareth. The world needs more firsthand
- 13:54religion, even Christianity, The best of the religions of the
- 13:5720th century, is not only a religion about Jesus.
- 14:01But it is. So largely one which men
- 14:04experience secondhand. They take their.
- 14:08Religion wholly as handed down by their accepted.
- 14:11Religious, religious teachers. What an awakening the world
- 14:15would experience. If it could only see.
- 14:17Jesus as he. Really lived on earth and no
- 14:20first hand is life. Giving teachings, descriptive
- 14:24words of things beautiful cannot thrill.
- 14:27Like the sight. Thereof, neither can creedal
- 14:30words inspire men's soul. Like the experience?
- 14:33Of knowing the presence of God, but expectant faith.
- 14:37Will ever keep the hope door? Of man's soul open for the
- 14:40entrance of the eternal spiritual realities.
- 14:45Of the divine values of the world's beyond, and that is the
- 14:49difference really between the. Secular world.
- 14:53Here and now point of view but when we think about and this
- 14:57was. Also discussed.
- 14:58In our previous section that. These these revelators of light.
- 15:02Are saying you need to expand your view of of reality.
- 15:07And it's not just what happens in your, you know, 60-70 eighty
- 15:12years of life on earth. There is something more, and
- 15:15what you do here determines the fate.
- 15:18To a large degree of how you progress if you.
- 15:21Progress on that eternal journey.
- 15:24Now, it's not a litmus test, but they're saying that the only way
- 15:27that we can get. There so that we don't suffer
- 15:31under the. Materialistic fetters of being
- 15:34finite creatures is through our mind.
- 15:36Which is attached to the Spirit of God.
- 15:39And it carries us to that next threshold.
- 15:43And it. Is a requirement that we and our
- 15:45will embrace that idea of eternal values, the spiritual
- 15:49Kingdom, or whatever you want to call it, heaven.
- 15:53The afterlife. One man described it as an
- 15:56elevator, where you get in, get off one floor and you get on
- 15:59another. It's all kinds of ways to look
- 16:01at it, but the important thing is the concept of the life
- 16:04everlasting and that this universe is not.
- 16:08Just a haphazard. Random causation event.
- 16:12There's a there's a plan going on, there's something in action
- 16:16and we are a part. Of that process.
- 16:19We'll we'll conclude with these final words.
- 16:22Christianity has dared. To lower its ideals before the.
- 16:25Challenge of human greed, war, madness, and the lust for.
- 16:29Power but the. Religion of Jesus stands as the
- 16:33unsullied and transcended spiritual summons.
- 16:37Calling to the best there is in man to rise.
- 16:39Above all these legacies of. Animal evolution and by grace
- 16:44attain the moral heights of true human destiny.
- 16:50Christianity. Christianity is threatened by
- 16:53slow death from formalism over organization, intellectualism,
- 16:59and other nonspiritual trends. The modern Christian Church is
- 17:04not. Such a brotherhood.
- 17:05Of dynamic. Believers as.
- 17:07Jesus commissioned continuously. To affect the spiritual.
- 17:11Transformation of successive generations of mankind.
- 17:15So-called. Christianity has become a social
- 17:18and cultural movement. As well as a religious belief
- 17:22and. Practice.
- 17:23The stream of modern Christianity drains many an
- 17:26ancient Pagan swamp and many a barbarian morass.
- 17:31Many old and cultural watersheds drain into this presentday
- 17:35cultural stream as. Well as the.
- 17:37High Galilean table lands. Which are supposed it to be its
- 17:41exclusive source, I've said. Before on on these podcasts that
- 17:46Christianity is very much like a Christmas tree.
- 17:50The Christmas tree itself is a symbol of many Pagan and
- 17:53religious events. Or societies of the past?
- 17:59And there's a little bit of everything a.
- 18:01Little bit of. Of man's search.
- 18:03For religious truth. In a Christmas tree, everything
- 18:06represents something. Here's.
- 18:09What I'll say to you now in the next section, which we'll save
- 18:12for the next episode we're going to.
- 18:14Explore the future. Section 10.
- 18:17It's the final section in paper 195, and it gives us a road map
- 18:22to the. Future.
- 18:24And I know you're going to enjoy it.
- 18:26I thank you for stopping by. It's.
- 18:27Always a pleasure here. It's always a pleasure and I do
- 18:30hope that you will share this podcast I told you last.
- 18:33Time that. We have surpassed the six.
- 18:35Figure Mark. Over 6 over. 100,000.
- 18:40People have. Downloaded this podcast?
- 18:43Isn't that amazing? That means that people's
- 18:47interest in the Ranch book is growing.

- 19:03done by Roxy Music and I just. I just love it.
- 19:06I think it's a great way to end the segment.
- 19:08I hope you enjoy it.
