- 0:04Speaker 1: NFL Game Deview is a production of the NFL in
- 0:06Speaker 1: partnership with iHeartRadio.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Everybody, Welcome to Game Debut, Patrick Clave, I'm back here
- 0:14Speaker 2: with my dear friends Greg Rosenthal and Cynthia Freeland picking
- 0:17Speaker 2: all the games of the week. One slate. To borrow
- 0:20Speaker 2: a turn of phrase from a dear friend and a
- 0:22Speaker 2: football savant.
- 0:23Speaker 3: Football's let's go.
- 0:25Speaker 4: Look, you know everything changes every season, but this show,
- 0:28Speaker 4: we're back.
- 0:29Speaker 3: This is seven seasons. Game debut, You and I Cynthia,
- 0:33Speaker 3: let's go.
- 0:34Speaker 5: I can believe it's already seven. That feels very special.
- 0:37Speaker 5: That's almost ten.
- 0:38Speaker 3: And then you get in there which is like the
- 0:40Speaker 3: part of the show where Cynthia gets.
- 0:41Speaker 6: The brag the music. I'm just happy to be back.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Yeah, congratulations to the institution that is this show, which
- 0:49Speaker 2: is now I think in second grade. So a lot
- 0:52Speaker 2: has happened on Game Debut. Let's take a look at
- 0:55Speaker 2: our final pickstandings from last year. Go ahead and put
- 0:59Speaker 2: that digital crown atop Cynthia Freeland's head, winning a triple crown,
- 1:04Speaker 2: ghetting the Super Bowl pick, winning the regular season and
- 1:07Speaker 2: the postseason. And now we hear from our ruler and
- 1:11Speaker 2: leader after twenty twenty four. Cynthia Freeland.
- 1:14Speaker 5: I mean, I get to wear the crown here. It's
- 1:16Speaker 5: really fun. I've been to a lot of therapy where
- 1:18Speaker 5: I'm supposed to be like, oh, I'm really proud of myself,
- 1:20Speaker 5: but I'm actually ready to move on to the next season.
- 1:23Speaker 6: I can't.
- 1:23Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:24Speaker 6: I'm just it makes me a little uncomfortable to be
- 1:26Speaker 6: in that position, but I just gotta keep going.
- 1:28Speaker 3: Thank you, Jalen Hurts.
- 1:30Speaker 4: I mean, more impressive than that record is that you
- 1:32Speaker 4: nailed the exact super Bowl prediction in winner the Eagles
- 1:37Speaker 4: before last season over the Chiefs. That's more impressive than
- 1:39Speaker 4: any record.
- 1:40Speaker 2: A spectacular season, easily, Cynthia is the favorite. If we're picking,
- 1:45Speaker 2: we're to talk about us picking who's gonna win this year,
- 1:47Speaker 2: We're gonna take Cynthia Freeland.
- 1:48Speaker 3: I mean I did win two years in a row.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Okay, all right, Anyway, I had to mention it had
- 1:54Speaker 2: so speaking of therapy and wanting to do better, this
- 1:57Speaker 2: is how this season ended for the Baltimore Ravens. They
- 2:00Speaker 2: squared off against the Bills in the Divisional round. Of
- 2:02Speaker 2: less than two minutes to go, Mark Andrew dropped the
- 2:04Speaker 2: would be game time two point conversion. The Bills won
- 2:07Speaker 2: by those two points, advancing to the AFC Championship, and
- 2:12Speaker 2: now it's an opportunity for Revans a monster rematch Sunday
- 2:16Speaker 2: night in Buffalo, Josh Allen against Lamar Jackson, the league's
- 2:20Speaker 2: last two MVPs going at it on Sunday night football.
- 2:25Speaker 2: How do you see this one going great?
- 2:27Speaker 4: I think it's gonna be similar in a lot of ways,
- 2:30Speaker 4: including the score twenty seven to twenty five, except this
- 2:34Speaker 4: time the Ravens come out on top for a reason
- 2:37Speaker 4: that really was consistent in both Ravens Bills games last year.
- 2:40Speaker 4: It's the running attack of Derrick Henry and Justice Hill.
- 2:44Speaker 4: The Bills in the first game had a lot of
- 2:47Speaker 4: light boxes, not a lot of defenders up near the
- 2:49Speaker 4: line of scrimmage, and Derrick Henry had one of the
- 2:51Speaker 4: best games of his entire career. So in the playoff game,
- 2:55Speaker 4: they actually loaded the box more than they did almost
- 2:57Speaker 4: all season, tripled the amount of defenders in the box,
- 3:00Speaker 4: and you know what, they still ended up with one
- 3:02Speaker 4: hundred and seventy six yards on the ground. Can we
- 3:04Speaker 4: over five yards for carry? Justice Hill was very effective.
- 3:07Speaker 4: This is a great one to two punch in the
- 3:10Speaker 4: first game. By the way, Justice Hill through the air
- 3:13Speaker 4: goes for seventy eight yards as a receiver, So I
- 3:16Speaker 4: just love that. Whether you want to play with a
- 3:18Speaker 4: lot of defenders to try to stop the run, or
- 3:21Speaker 4: you play back in a little more conservative either way,
- 3:23Speaker 4: the Ravens are going to get theirs. I think they
- 3:25Speaker 4: are more consistent because of that running game, and they
- 3:28Speaker 4: win twenty seven to twenty five, not really revenge.
- 3:31Speaker 2: That it's not really revenge because you can't wipe away
- 3:34Speaker 2: what happened. Obviously, the way that the game end was
- 3:37Speaker 2: exceedingly disappointed for Ravens fans as well as Mark Andrews.
- 3:40Speaker 2: But I really think the run game decides a lot
- 3:44Speaker 2: in the way that Buffalo approached the things. But the
- 3:46Speaker 2: pass rush is what forced Buffalo to change things and
- 3:49Speaker 2: run the ball more in the playoff game because you
- 3:52Speaker 2: go back. The pass rush really bothered Josh Allen in
- 3:55Speaker 2: the regular season game, pressured in forty four percent of
- 3:57Speaker 2: his dropbacks. That's the second highest in the game against
- 4:00Speaker 2: Josh Allen the last two seasons. So they come out
- 4:02Speaker 2: in the playoffs pound the rock with six or more
- 4:05Speaker 2: offensive linemen in the playoffs twenty two percent of the time.
- 4:08Speaker 2: I feel like the Ravens are prepared for both circumstances
- 4:10Speaker 2: this time around, and not turning the ball over a
- 4:13Speaker 2: multitude of times also helps. I've got the Baltimore Ravens
- 4:16Speaker 2: twenty six to twenty four speak.
- 4:17Speaker 5: Well, I have twenty six to twenty four as well.
- 4:20Speaker 5: But for the other team, when I'm looking at what
- 4:22Speaker 5: goes on with the Bills, you actually brought it up.
- 4:24Speaker 6: You said that they adapt.
- 4:25Speaker 5: Oh it's a prime number, guys, our Famaek prime number.
- 4:30Speaker 6: We like this.
- 4:31Speaker 5: But here's the thing you talked about it they adapted.
- 4:33Speaker 5: They added an extra offensive lineman. You know why, because
- 4:36Speaker 5: they wanted that man, Josh Allen, to have the game
- 4:39Speaker 5: that he is going to have every single time. He's
- 4:41Speaker 5: super consistent. When you're talking about an O line that
- 4:44Speaker 5: can help out. Watching the preseason games, o Cyrus Torrence
- 4:47Speaker 5: might even have gotten better, which is wild because he
- 4:51Speaker 5: was already very good. So I'm looking at the opportunity here.
- 4:54Speaker 5: Which of the pass catchers.
- 4:56Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't know. I can tell you what my
- 4:58Speaker 6: math forecast.
- 4:58Speaker 5: It's not spectacular in terms of top five receiving numbers
- 5:02Speaker 5: for any single one of them. But I will say
- 5:04Speaker 5: that that kind of we don't know who what's going
- 5:07Speaker 5: to be also translates to what the Ravens have to
- 5:09Speaker 5: deal with, who's it going to be. We do know
- 5:12Speaker 5: that Josh Allen has twenty seven rushing touchdowns over the
- 5:14Speaker 5: past few seasons, so so I don't expect that to change.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Yeah, expecting both of these games to be as long
- 5:20Speaker 2: as eight and seventeen are on the field, the Ravens
- 5:23Speaker 2: and the Bills will be pretty good. Time for Who's
- 5:25Speaker 2: Eating Good presented by Applebee's here on Game Dayview, Greg
- 5:30Speaker 2: Who in terms of these star quarterbacks has more total touchdowns,
- 5:34Speaker 2: Lamar and Josh Allen.
- 5:35Speaker 3: I will go Lamar Jackson.
- 5:36Speaker 4: I think he has the easier matchup on Sunday night.
- 5:40Speaker 4: When you look at what the Bills did in that
- 5:42Speaker 4: second one, and we're going back to because it was
- 5:43Speaker 4: the last game, they were extremely creative. It was a
- 5:46Speaker 4: team that had gotten better and better all throughout the season.
- 5:48Speaker 4: I think right now is the time to play this
- 5:50Speaker 4: Bills defense, not totally healthy in the preseason, figuring out
- 5:55Speaker 4: what's going on at cornerback and safety.
- 5:58Speaker 3: Usually that's the bedrock.
- 5:59Speaker 4: Of these Bills defense, and there's a lot of question marks,
- 6:01Speaker 4: so I don't think they'll be ready to be as
- 6:03Speaker 4: multi pull as they were in that playoff.
- 6:05Speaker 5: Bobby Babbage, he's calling you out looking.
- 6:09Speaker 4: Bobby Babbage, who runs the Bills defense, did a great job.
- 6:13Speaker 3: Good job, Bobby. I just think he's got a harder
- 6:15Speaker 3: job this time.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Yere, he's got Bullton board material? Does Bobby Babbage? Back
- 6:20Speaker 2: in June, Mike Tomlin and the Steelers made a flash
- 6:23Speaker 2: signing future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers at forty one
- 6:26Speaker 2: years young, he's the oldest player in the NFL. Says
- 6:28Speaker 2: he's pretty sure this is gonna be it for him
- 6:30Speaker 2: playing football Pittsburgh hoping Aaron can lead them to their
- 6:33Speaker 2: first playoff win since the twenty sixteen season. It is
- 6:36Speaker 2: Rogers and the Steelers kicking things off against his former team,
- 6:39Speaker 2: the Jets, and Aaron Rodgers looking for revenge after the
- 6:42Speaker 2: Jets wanted Justin Fields more than him. So does he
- 6:46Speaker 2: get it? Great?
- 6:46Speaker 3: Oh, I love how you pointed that out.
- 6:47Speaker 4: Justin Fields is making more American money this year playing
- 6:51Speaker 4: quarterback than Aaron Rodgers. Both these teams wanted Justin Fields
- 6:54Speaker 4: more than Aaron Rodgers. That's one reason why I'm going
- 6:56Speaker 4: with the Jets twenty to seventeen. Aaron Glenn said in
- 6:59Speaker 4: one of his press conferences, we don't want celebrity quarterbacks here.
- 7:04Speaker 4: Like the more you watch football, the more it stays
- 7:06Speaker 4: the same. That's what Bill Parcells used to say, the
- 7:09Speaker 4: exact same quote. Justin Fields might not be a celebrity quarterback,
- 7:13Speaker 4: but he's effective. He had his best season as a
- 7:16Speaker 4: passer a year ago. I think they're going to focus
- 7:18Speaker 4: on his strength. It's going to be all about the
- 7:20Speaker 4: running game. And ultimately, I don't think either one of
- 7:23Speaker 4: these offenses is really going to get that much going.
- 7:26Speaker 4: But the run game that I trust more is with
- 7:29Speaker 4: the Jets in Bresaw, Braylen Allen and Justin Fields.
- 7:32Speaker 2: Yeah. Maybe Aaron Rodgers getting paid in rubles or reals or.
- 7:36Speaker 4: I'm just saying it's kind of wild. It's twenty twenty five,
- 7:38Speaker 4: Justin Fields out here. Is the market's telling you he's better?
- 7:41Speaker 2: Yeah, Aaron Rodgers still one of the best quarterbacks in
- 7:45Speaker 2: the league, getting the ball out of his hands very quickly.
- 7:47Speaker 2: The problem is he had the fourth lowest completion percentage
- 7:51Speaker 2: in passes that were thrown under two and a half seconds.
- 7:53Speaker 2: He joins a Steelers offense that actually had a couple
- 7:56Speaker 2: of high scoring games last year. One of those was
- 7:59Speaker 2: against the Jets because the field position was very good
- 8:02Speaker 2: because Aaron Rodgers was playing quarterback for the Jets. In
- 8:05Speaker 2: the union of the Steelers and the Jets is not
- 8:08Speaker 2: necessarily something that I'm going to believe in sight unseen
- 8:11Speaker 2: because we haven't really seen it. I've got the Jets
- 8:14Speaker 2: getting there revnch against Aaron Rodgers twenty to sixteen s
- 8:16Speaker 2: in the other well.
- 8:17Speaker 5: I guess we're just gonna sign up for two. Is
- 8:19Speaker 5: this whole show gonna be prime numbers?
- 8:21Speaker 3: We'll see pay blo pleap, plea, blu pleap.
- 8:23Speaker 5: Steelers fans, please back me up on this one.
- 8:26Speaker 6: I took a two point win.
- 8:28Speaker 5: Four Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers. It's twenty one to nineteen.
- 8:31Speaker 6: Let's just talk about Aaron Rodgers for a second.
- 8:33Speaker 5: But did you guys also forget Elijah Arrah. Tucker's not
- 8:36Speaker 5: going to keep.
- 8:37Speaker 6: That could be a problem for the Jets.
- 8:39Speaker 5: But in this particular matchup and watching Aaron Rodgers, I'm
- 8:42Speaker 5: thinking about Okay, Johnny Smith, there, you know what those
- 8:45Speaker 5: tight ends do for Aaron Rodgers, The answer is a lot.
- 8:49Speaker 5: I think this is a situation where Aaron Rodgers is
- 8:51Speaker 5: going to have what I'm gonna call a mid season,
- 8:54Speaker 5: meaning his stats are gonna look mid They're not going
- 8:56Speaker 5: to look anything like they look to those MVP seasons
- 8:59Speaker 5: when he was a Green Bay Packer, but they're not
- 9:01Speaker 5: going to also look kind of like what you were
- 9:02Speaker 5: talking about with those quick passes not working.
- 9:04Speaker 6: He also threw the five interceptions on those fast passes
- 9:07Speaker 6: last season. It's not gonna look like that either.
- 9:09Speaker 5: It's gonna be somewhere in between, and that will be
- 9:11Speaker 5: just good enough in this matchup to best the Giant
- 9:14Speaker 5: or the Jets.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Right. The Steelers signing Rogers was one of the most
- 9:17Speaker 2: newsworthy stories of the offseason. I'd say was because a
- 9:21Speaker 2: couple of months later, the Packers and the Cowboys made
- 9:23Speaker 2: the biggest trade I can remember. The pride is still
- 9:29Speaker 2: let this league. The protest still up right out. The
- 9:32Speaker 2: pride is still let this a.
- 9:34Speaker 3: Person person punch him down. It bus he's sacked again.
- 9:38Speaker 2: Wow, We're gona never turned over.
- 9:40Speaker 4: We're gonna come due.
- 9:42Speaker 5: I mean, we had loved it and Bryce young never
- 9:45Speaker 5: had a chance, so he gets going like that.
- 9:48Speaker 3: It is literally like he is hunting.
- 9:51Speaker 2: You wrote about vera players. Mom, I'll look at the
- 9:56Speaker 2: odds to win the NFC nor according to our friends
- 9:59Speaker 2: over at Caesar Sportsbook that note at the bottom odds
- 10:01Speaker 2: subject to change. That's because they did when Michael park
- 10:04Speaker 2: Since got traded to the Green Bay Packers. Now right
- 10:06Speaker 2: there at plus one eighty, right behind the Detroit Lions
- 10:10Speaker 2: to win the NFC North and the two favorites in
- 10:13Speaker 2: the North s wearing off Sunday in Lambeau. Cynthia, your
- 10:16Speaker 2: Lions looking for their four straight win in Green Bay?
- 10:19Speaker 2: Do they get it?
- 10:20Speaker 5: Yes, by the narrowest of margins. Twenty four to twenty
- 10:23Speaker 5: three is what my math says. Don't be tricked by
- 10:26Speaker 5: recency bias.
- 10:27Speaker 6: You know what that means.
- 10:28Speaker 5: It means that Micah Parsons being traded is a big deal.
- 10:31Speaker 5: But sometimes so too is Aiden Hutchinson returning for the Lions.
- 10:35Speaker 5: When you look at this defense, I don't know, they
- 10:37Speaker 5: get like three hundred and fifty people back from injury
- 10:40Speaker 5: lasses approximately, I think that was the number. I think
- 10:43Speaker 5: they had to spend like their entire cap on just
- 10:45Speaker 5: injury replacements.
- 10:46Speaker 6: But the pace that Aiden.
- 10:47Speaker 5: Hutchinson was working on last season prior to getting hurt
- 10:50Speaker 5: was an MVP level pace. It was possibly defensive or
- 10:54Speaker 5: Defensive Player of the Year at least, if not even more. Right,
- 10:57Speaker 5: So you're watching what happens there and you're thinking about, Okay,
- 11:00Speaker 5: who has the defense with the back end to support
- 11:03Speaker 5: it and Branch, Yeah, he's still there. So I'm looking
- 11:06Speaker 5: at how the back in the front works together, and
- 11:08Speaker 5: I think that gives the Lions an edge.
- 11:10Speaker 6: I'm also hoping for it.
- 11:11Speaker 5: But you know, as Lions fans, we all get like
- 11:13Speaker 5: the better nails and we get very worried. But I'm
- 11:15Speaker 5: glad the math kind of match my heart.
- 11:18Speaker 4: I hear you on the recency bias. I'm amazed that
- 11:20Speaker 4: the Packers are favored in this game because the Lions
- 11:23Speaker 4: have absolutely owned Matt Lafleur's Packers during Dan Campbell's tenure.
- 11:28Speaker 3: I don't think that changes.
- 11:29Speaker 4: I think the Lions win by a touchdown here, thirty
- 11:32Speaker 4: two to twenty five, a nice high scoring game, in
- 11:35Speaker 4: part because the Lions are adding players like Isaac to Slaw.
- 11:38Speaker 4: This is what the preseason and training camp is all about.
- 11:42Speaker 4: Matt Jones walked so that Isaac Slow can fly. Let's
- 11:47Speaker 4: go from Arkansas. I mean, look at these plays as
- 11:49Speaker 4: if they needed to get any deeper in terms of
- 11:52Speaker 4: their weapons. You not only have to Slaw, but you
- 11:55Speaker 4: have Sam Laporta of course, Jameson Williams in a contract year.
- 11:59Speaker 4: And you look at the Packers meanwhile, I think they're
- 12:01Speaker 4: getting them the Lions at the right time of year.
- 12:04Speaker 4: Because the Packers all their weapons were hurt in training camp,
- 12:07Speaker 4: they haven't practiced much together. I think the Lions take
- 12:09Speaker 4: training camp in the preseason more seriously.
- 12:12Speaker 3: They come out flying, usually in Week one.
- 12:15Speaker 4: Think back to last year when they beat the defending
- 12:17Speaker 4: champion Kansas City Chiefs.
- 12:19Speaker 3: I think they get the win.
- 12:20Speaker 2: I will take a tendency breaker and have our first
- 12:22Speaker 2: stray bond of the twenty twenty five season and go
- 12:25Speaker 2: with a narrow margin as well. But for the home
- 12:27Speaker 2: team twenty nine to twenty eight Green Bay Packers, another
- 12:31Speaker 2: year for Jordan Love in the Lafleor offense. But there's
- 12:34Speaker 2: an unsung hero somehow, and Josh Jacobs, who very very
- 12:37Speaker 2: quietly had a good year, forced ninety six misstackles one
- 12:42Speaker 2: of the places he in Green Bay. Excelled was running
- 12:44Speaker 2: the ball out of the shot gun, number five in
- 12:46Speaker 2: the league, where Detroit was number twenty six on defense.
- 12:49Speaker 2: Albeit that includes the three hundred and fifty players and
- 12:52Speaker 2: staff personnel, everybody, folks working in the Ford field. They
- 12:56Speaker 2: got hurt last year. But it's a place where the
- 13:00Speaker 2: Packers can have success, and I think they will finally
- 13:02Speaker 2: have success at home against the d Troit Lions. I'll
- 13:05Speaker 2: be all alone here. We'll just getting started. On game debut.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Up next, CJ. Stroud heading to La to take on
- 13:11Speaker 2: Matt Stafford and the Rams. There's so much star power
- 13:14Speaker 2: in this one. We're expecting from fireworks. We'll get picks
- 13:17Speaker 2: for who wins the game. Coming up next on game debut.
- 13:22Speaker 2: Back on game debut with NFL Plus, Keep the NFL

- 13:45Speaker 2: APLI time for seas the season presented by Caesar's Sportsbook.
- 13:50Speaker 2: As we look at the first touchdown score odds, Kyron
- 13:53Speaker 2: Williams far and away leading the game in so far,
- 13:56Speaker 2: ahead of Nicocollins, Pukinakua, Davante Adams, and Nick Chubb at
- 14:01Speaker 2: plus nine hundred, all those names stars in action, Texans
- 14:05Speaker 2: and Rams Sunday at so far. Stroud versus Stafford, the
- 14:09Speaker 2: youngster versus the savvy Bett and Champion. What do you
- 14:12Speaker 2: see taking place? Correct?
- 14:13Speaker 4: I see a lot of defense on both sides, especially
- 14:16Speaker 4: the Texans. I have them winning seventeen to fourteen, Like
- 14:20Speaker 4: sometimes it takes the offense to get a little bit going.
- 14:22Speaker 4: And there's so much talk about the Rams young pass rush.
- 14:24Speaker 4: The best edge rush duo in the entire NFL is
- 14:27Speaker 4: with the Houston Texans, Will Anderson and Daniel Hunter like
- 14:30Speaker 4: Jared vers like they're.
- 14:32Speaker 3: Great, But the Texans sack artist.
- 14:35Speaker 4: They finished plays more consistently, And I am a little
- 14:38Speaker 4: worried about the matchup, not just with Matthew Stafford's back injury,
- 14:42Speaker 4: but with Alric Jackson coming off these blood clots. We'll
- 14:45Speaker 4: see if he plays in this game, but he hasn't
- 14:47Speaker 4: been able to practice too often. And then on the
- 14:49Speaker 4: other side, it's Rob Havenstein, who's getting up there in years,
- 14:52Speaker 4: has had his injury concerns. I think that is a mismatch,
- 14:56Speaker 4: and if Stafford is having to get rid of the
- 14:57Speaker 4: ball quickly, I ultimately think that this Texans defense is
- 15:01Speaker 4: the single most special group in this game, and they
- 15:04Speaker 4: get the road win.
- 15:05Speaker 2: I'm right there with you, Greg, I've got a Texans
- 15:07Speaker 2: win twenty five to twenty as well. The Stafford question,
- 15:09Speaker 2: obviously is one of the most important questions in the
- 15:12Speaker 2: entire NFL. But I have no questions about this Houston
- 15:14Speaker 2: Texans defense. Greg talked about the pass rush. Let's discuss
- 15:17Speaker 2: the cornerbacks and Derek Stingley and Lassiter as well. They
- 15:22Speaker 2: allowed the lowest, the second lowest completion percentages, and first
- 15:26Speaker 2: lowest completion percentages as the nearest defender at corner according
- 15:29Speaker 2: to Next Gen Stats. That's every corner in the NFL.
- 15:32Speaker 2: The number one and number two both play for the
- 15:35Speaker 2: Houston Texans. Obviously, all right, d'aneil Hunter and Will Anderson Jr.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Have a lot to do with that, But yeah, all
- 15:42Speaker 2: four of these guys are on the same team. I'm
- 15:43Speaker 2: taking them to beat the Rams this weekend.
- 15:45Speaker 4: Cythe well, fire up that prime number grad another long
- 15:48Speaker 4: like heavy favorite for Cynthia.
- 15:51Speaker 3: This is how you win.
- 15:53Speaker 6: I am don't you. I don't pick for you. I
- 15:56Speaker 6: pick for me.
- 15:57Speaker 5: Twenty three to twenty two is what I have for
- 16:00Speaker 5: the home team here in the Rams, I will say
- 16:04Speaker 5: my gut to say a little bit more Houston, but
- 16:07Speaker 5: we go by math. I wrote my own code, so
- 16:09Speaker 5: it's my own math that we're talking about here. And
- 16:12Speaker 5: I want to talk about what happens when you add
- 16:13Speaker 5: Devonte Adams to a Puka nakoul offense with the Matthew
- 16:17Speaker 5: Stafford and a side of Kayle Williams and all of
- 16:19Speaker 5: these other number one it does help figure things out
- 16:22Speaker 5: with an O line with some questions. I've got questions for.
- 16:25Speaker 6: O lines on both sides of this matchup.
- 16:28Speaker 5: I don't trust the Texans O line necessarily yet either
- 16:32Speaker 5: Matthew Stafford.
- 16:33Speaker 6: I have to believe if.
- 16:34Speaker 5: Sean McVay says he's ready to go, that he's ready
- 16:37Speaker 5: to go. I've also seen him play with like I
- 16:39Speaker 5: think his shoulder was actually you know, off his body,
- 16:41Speaker 5: maybe his arm like a mannequins or else when he
- 16:43Speaker 5: played for the Lions like this, is a really tough player.
- 16:47Speaker 5: Maybe that's later in the season it's more of an issue.
- 16:49Speaker 5: But I think in this matchup, even against that horribly
- 16:52Speaker 5: difficult defense, I have the home team pulling it out, and.
- 16:55Speaker 2: I'm starting to get nervous that Cynthia's lead will expand.
- 16:58Speaker 3: Or it could be terrible.
- 17:00Speaker 6: It could go terrible.
- 17:01Speaker 2: You can go a couple of different ways.
- 17:04Speaker 3: Caleb Williams was the face of college football and this
- 17:07Speaker 3: kid is something else.
- 17:08Speaker 7: Ri They bird pick, Chicago Bears collect Caleb william changing
- 17:14Speaker 7: a culture and an identity of an offensively challenged football team.
- 17:19Speaker 7: Man down goes Candleb Williams, Canada Troubles, Williams wrapped up
- 17:25Speaker 7: drop whos have.
- 17:26Speaker 2: Rained down on the Bear?
- 17:28Speaker 3: Kevin Owen. Ben Johnson is the Chicago Bears head coach.
- 17:33Speaker 7: There hasn't been a four thousand yeard asser here in
- 17:35Speaker 7: this franchise.
- 17:36Speaker 2: And I think Caleb is gonna be the first one.
- 17:40Speaker 5: Maybe when this starts the sea touchdown, the Bears are back, Baby.
- 17:50Speaker 2: Calb Williams and the Bears playing host of the Vikings
- 17:52Speaker 2: Monday Night. J J. McCarthy making his first career start.
- 17:55Speaker 2: How does the Ben Johnson era begin? In Chicago synth
- 18:00Speaker 2: with that.
- 18:01Speaker 5: Crazy old scream of william Anyways, Caleb Williams takes this one.
- 18:08Speaker 5: It's a narrow upset home win for the Bears. I
- 18:12Speaker 5: have twenty two to twenty one in this matchup.
- 18:15Speaker 6: Okay, let's talk about Kayleb Williams.
- 18:17Speaker 3: Right.
- 18:17Speaker 5: We talked about the interier of the old line all
- 18:19Speaker 5: offseason for some reason. Is that going to be different
- 18:22Speaker 5: against the Vikings. I know that defense is good and
- 18:24Speaker 5: Brian Flores is gonna bring the heat.
- 18:25Speaker 6: You know he's gonna blitz.
- 18:26Speaker 5: But you know, we else knows that Ben Johnson and
- 18:28Speaker 5: he had a lot of answers for Jared goffin company
- 18:31Speaker 5: against this blitz. Go look at what happens with Minnesota
- 18:34Speaker 5: versus Detroit when Ben Johnson.
- 18:36Speaker 6: Was the architect.
- 18:37Speaker 5: And I think we're gonna get that little scream that
- 18:39Speaker 5: you know, I thought it was safe for the draft,
- 18:41Speaker 5: but apparently he screams like that.
- 18:42Speaker 6: I'm learning things on our show too. He screams like
- 18:44Speaker 6: that all the.
- 18:45Speaker 2: Time, and that's how I'm screaming in the fact that
- 18:48Speaker 2: we're actually on the same page in this one. I
- 18:50Speaker 2: have the Bears winning at home by one twenty one.
- 18:53Speaker 2: To twenty. It was a league high fifty seven unblocked
- 18:57Speaker 2: pressures for Kayleb Williams and his rookie season. That's a
- 19:00Speaker 2: record in the Next Gen Stats era for rookie quarterbacks.
- 19:03Speaker 2: The time in obviously was all messed up both on
- 19:06Speaker 2: the field and on the sideline for the Chicago Bears.
- 19:09Speaker 2: But when things did work out, Caleb Williams was fonding
- 19:12Speaker 2: Romo Dunsay. The two rookies connected in several spots. But
- 19:16Speaker 2: watch some of these throws. The timing is still off,
- 19:19Speaker 2: even on the successful plays to Romodonsay where he's slowing
- 19:23Speaker 2: down coming back to the ball. Just an increase, as
- 19:26Speaker 2: Cynthia mentioned, adjusting and having the timing being on point
- 19:29Speaker 2: against the blitz, not against the blitz. That's what I
- 19:32Speaker 2: have to hope for because we haven't seen it yet.
- 19:35Speaker 2: I think we see it London.
- 19:36Speaker 4: Oh yeah, the timing, it'll all be figured out by
- 19:38Speaker 4: week one against Brian Flores in this master's level defense
- 19:42Speaker 4: that his safety Josh Mattela said, they were undergraduates before
- 19:46Speaker 4: their masters.
- 19:46Speaker 5: Now, who's an undergraduate? Like the starter for the Vikings
- 19:49Speaker 5: were who you're taking?
- 19:50Speaker 4: I am taking the Minnesota Vikings in this game, and
- 19:53Speaker 4: it's something for just Greg Nation to get excited about
- 19:57Speaker 4: it because.
- 19:57Speaker 3: They're winning this game.
- 19:59Speaker 4: I mean, this is year three of Brian Flores, right,
- 20:02Speaker 4: That's why you're in the Masters program. They expedited, that's
- 20:06Speaker 4: studying over the last couple of years. This is positionless football.
- 20:10Speaker 4: It'll scramble your brain. Their first day of school over
- 20:13Speaker 4: there in Chicago, they're struggling to get plays off in
- 20:16Speaker 4: the preseason at different points. This is the last team
- 20:19Speaker 4: you want to play in Week one. I just think
- 20:22Speaker 4: you're four of Kevin O'Connell and three of Brian Flores.
- 20:24Speaker 4: They are ready for this type of division game. It's
- 20:27Speaker 4: like I talked about with the Lions Packers earlier. I
- 20:29Speaker 4: think they're catching the Bears at the right time. You
- 20:31Speaker 4: want to play this road game in Week one before
- 20:33Speaker 4: the Bears are who they're going to be Later in.
- 20:35Speaker 6: This saw Christian Dearrisoz on the injury report, right, well.
- 20:38Speaker 4: He's coming off a big injury, but they're hoping you
- 20:40Speaker 4: get him back.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Yes, and also some pretty positive thoughts about the future
- 20:44Speaker 2: aspirations of the Chicago Bears.
- 20:45Speaker 3: Yes, in a few weeks get better, They'll get better.
- 20:47Speaker 2: What if they're good now, the Bears and the Vikings
- 20:50Speaker 2: hoping that their quarterbacks someday. In the MVP talk, let's
- 20:53Speaker 2: look at the current odds to win league MVP, Lamar
- 20:56Speaker 2: Jackson and Josh Allen leading the way there. I'll throw
- 21:00Speaker 2: a cavey on it in because apparently the worst thing
- 21:02Speaker 2: you could do to win the MVP is win the
- 21:03Speaker 2: MVP of the year before. So what do you think
- 21:05Speaker 2: greg happens in terms of being the MVP.
- 21:08Speaker 4: It's one of the reasons why I like Patrick Mahomes
- 21:10Speaker 4: to win the award this year, not only because he's
- 21:12Speaker 4: the best player I've seen enter the league in my
- 21:14Speaker 4: twenty years of covering it, but because the narrative feels
- 21:18Speaker 4: right for him this year. First of all, I think
- 21:20Speaker 4: there will be more big plays because of the weapons
- 21:23Speaker 4: around him and the offensive line. But I also think
- 21:26Speaker 4: it's a season where the voters will look at oh
- 21:28Speaker 4: Mahomes is reminding everyone who he is, like the old
- 21:32Speaker 4: boring Mahomes is gone and we're back. And I can
- 21:35Speaker 4: just see like a coalition of writers getting behind that.
- 21:38Speaker 4: And the numbers really aren't that different between him, Lamar
- 21:42Speaker 4: and Josh Allen. They're basically all favorites. But basically I
- 21:45Speaker 4: would take Mahomes every year for the next five years
- 21:48Speaker 4: and think that's a good game.
- 21:49Speaker 2: Okay, we should let the voters know Patrick Mahomes exists.
- 21:53Speaker 2: It gets silly, So Cynthia, give us a dark horse
- 21:56Speaker 2: MVP candidate.
- 21:57Speaker 5: Finally we're talking no chalk here, Let's talk about Bonix.
- 22:00Speaker 5: You know who is really good at throwing on the
- 22:02Speaker 5: run other than Patrick Mahone.
- 22:04Speaker 3: B Nicks, Yeah, Kirk Cousins. Yeah.
- 22:07Speaker 5: Phonicks had the most passing yards on the run last season.
- 22:10Speaker 5: You know what one of the formulas is for winning MVP,
- 22:13Speaker 5: winning a lot of games, and he's got a great defense. Sure,
- 22:17Speaker 5: he plays in the AFC West, which is difficult, and
- 22:18Speaker 5: Patrick Mahomes.
- 22:19Speaker 6: Is still there.
- 22:20Speaker 5: But if you're talking about a quarterback, which is typically
- 22:23Speaker 5: who wins the position, who could be finding himself at
- 22:26Speaker 5: Honors on the stage. Dark horse candidate Phonix not a
- 22:30Speaker 5: lot of letters, but lots and lots of yards.
- 22:32Speaker 3: If this happens. If this happens, that's it. I'm retiring,
- 22:36Speaker 3: hiring any it's over.
- 22:38Speaker 5: You're gonna give you a million dollars, all right, So
- 22:40Speaker 5: if you like the stray that Greg fired at Kirk Cousins.
- 22:42Speaker 2: We've got direct shots coming up. Michael Pennick Junior is
- 22:45Speaker 2: rocking arm ready to put the league unnoticed the season
- 22:48Speaker 2: according to the way they finished the season last year.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Playing host to Baker in the box Sunday, who has
- 22:53Speaker 2: the edge our answers coming.
- 22:54Speaker 4: It really does throw pretty well going to his left.
- 22:57Speaker 4: It's underrated thirty four.
- 23:05Speaker 8: We should be the best in the league. You know,
- 23:06Speaker 8: with the guys who got around us. You know we
- 23:08Speaker 8: got a great officer line as well. You know, those
- 23:09Speaker 8: guys we're assuming hard in the trenches, you know, with
- 23:12Speaker 8: coach Leffer out out there leading those guys, doing a
- 23:15Speaker 8: great job with those guys, you know, we should be unstoppable.
- 23:18Speaker 8: So that's our goal. We want to be number one
- 23:20Speaker 8: in all the categories on the office side the balls.
- 23:24Speaker 2: Lofty expectations for second year quarterback Michael Pennix. And you're
- 23:28Speaker 2: the Falcons playing host of the Bucks. Tampa's won the
- 23:30Speaker 2: division four straight years, they lost a couple times to
- 23:33Speaker 2: this Falcons team. What happens this time? Greg?
- 23:35Speaker 4: I believe the Bucks get some revenge for losing twice
- 23:38Speaker 4: to the Falcons a year ago. To Kirk cuz no
- 23:40Speaker 4: Kirk this time. It's because the offense of the Buccaneers
- 23:43Speaker 4: it's just a factory at this point. You can roll
- 23:45Speaker 4: out whatever offensive coordinator you want and it works. You
- 23:48Speaker 4: can put any wide receiver into the mix like a
- 23:50Speaker 4: Mecca Abuka and it's going to work. Like you use
- 23:54Speaker 4: j You lose Jalen McMillan for half a season, who
- 23:57Speaker 4: was a really good third receiver scoring a lot of touchdowns.
- 24:00Speaker 4: And you don't have Chris Godwin available for this game,
- 24:04Speaker 4: and yet you have a first round pick because Jason Light,
- 24:07Speaker 4: their general manager, is always building depth and they're really
- 24:11Speaker 4: good at developing players. I love the Bucks offense to
- 24:14Speaker 4: put them over the top.
- 24:15Speaker 5: Here, Well, I also have the Bucks twenty six to
- 24:17Speaker 5: twenty three. I'm gonna talk about their defense since specifically
- 24:20Speaker 5: Hassan Reddick. Obviously you've got some guys other we love. Well,
- 24:23Speaker 5: this is a vidavea show of record. We love videvea
- 24:25Speaker 5: on the show.
- 24:26Speaker 6: But when we're.
- 24:27Speaker 5: Talking about figuring out how to navigate the O line
- 24:29Speaker 5: for the Falcons, one of the things Michael Pennix was
- 24:32Speaker 5: talking about was the guys in the trenches in front
- 24:34Speaker 5: of it. Well, you got Cala McGary's not there anymore,
- 24:37Speaker 5: so that's going to be quite difficult to stop what Todd.
- 24:39Speaker 6: Bowles is going to throw out there this season.
- 24:41Speaker 5: I think that's gonna be a point of emphasis making
- 24:43Speaker 5: sure this Bucks defense is one that is built in
- 24:46Speaker 5: the vision of Todd Bowles, which maybe last season it
- 24:49Speaker 5: wasn't as much, but tons of pressure this year.
- 24:52Speaker 2: I'm glad that you guys had some a moderate amount
- 24:54Speaker 2: of points. I've got way more points. I got thirty
- 24:56Speaker 2: one to twenty eight because these two teams played absolute
- 24:59Speaker 2: calculator games this Susan Ago and yes, Kirk Cousins played
- 25:03Speaker 2: well in those games, but the Falcons actually scored more points,
- 25:07Speaker 2: almost twelve more points a game when Michael Pennock Junior
- 25:10Speaker 2: was the starting quarterback. And you know what else got better?
- 25:13Speaker 2: It was Drake London in terms of his opportunity. His
- 25:16Speaker 2: target rate shot up from twenty seven percent to forty
- 25:20Speaker 2: one percent with Michael Pennock Junior playing quarterback, and he
- 25:23Speaker 2: averaged a full two more air yards per target. I
- 25:26Speaker 2: think the reason that Michael Pennock Junior is confident about
- 25:29Speaker 2: what they can do in year two is because of
- 25:31Speaker 2: how good they were when he was the starting quarterback
- 25:33Speaker 2: thirty two points per game with a rookie in the
- 25:36Speaker 2: middle of a playoff race, albeit one that they did
- 25:38Speaker 2: not win. I've got the Falcons in this one, and
- 25:40Speaker 2: I'll be all alone. Tom Forrest to make some quick
- 25:43Speaker 2: picks here on Game Deview. The Panthers and the Jacksonville
- 25:47Speaker 2: Jaguars down in Dubaal. What do is you se happening here?
- 25:50Speaker 3: One of my favorite picks of the week.
- 25:51Speaker 4: The Jaguars to win and cover this game twenty seven
- 25:55Speaker 4: to seventeen. I think they've been doing the okie dokee
- 25:58Speaker 4: with Travis Hunter. They've kept them under raps, kind of
- 26:00Speaker 4: like RG three when they unveiled them in twenty twelve.
- 26:03Speaker 4: Travis Hunter moved different, he thinks different. He is going
- 26:06Speaker 4: to win Offensive Rookie of the Year and Defensive Rookie
- 26:10Speaker 4: of the Year. I don't know if that's available at
- 26:12Speaker 4: see they're sportsbook, but put it on the board. He's
- 26:15Speaker 4: so Hayo Tani. There's never been a player like him.
- 26:17Speaker 4: He can get it done.
- 26:18Speaker 2: Let's go to the Dolphins and the Colts. Danny Dimes
- 26:20Speaker 2: is gonna be under center for Indy. They kept out
- 26:22Speaker 2: under raps but you saw it coming. What happens in
- 26:24Speaker 2: this game since their social media team.
- 26:26Speaker 6: Gave it away.
- 26:27Speaker 5: Anyways, Indian Hatless wins this one by two points, twenty
- 26:30Speaker 5: six to twenty four.
- 26:31Speaker 6: The injury report for Miami is weird. It's long. We
- 26:35Speaker 6: don't know what's gonna happen with it as we're sitting
- 26:37Speaker 6: here right now.
- 26:38Speaker 5: But one thing I do know is that Jonathan Taylor,
- 26:40Speaker 5: he is consistent. If you look at those ten plus
- 26:43Speaker 5: yard rushes, even with their O line last year that
- 26:45Speaker 5: had some questions, he still did it at such a
- 26:47Speaker 5: high rate at thirty.
- 26:48Speaker 6: One of them last season. I think he could match
- 26:50Speaker 6: that or.
- 26:51Speaker 5: Best that this season, especially with Danny Dimes not kind
- 26:54Speaker 5: of stealing his vultering his rushing yards.
- 26:57Speaker 2: All right, I'll take the last one the Cardinals and
- 26:59Speaker 2: the Saints, and I will take the Arizona Cardinals. We
- 27:01Speaker 2: were all in unison in that mem us away Saints fans.
- 27:04Speaker 2: But let's discuss Alvin Kamara because I understand the oddsmaker's
- 27:08Speaker 2: confidence in this game and the Cardinals being favored, but
- 27:11Speaker 2: for a team that was number twenty eight in rushing
- 27:13Speaker 2: efficiency on a defense a year ago against the Saints
- 27:16Speaker 2: team that I feel will lean heavily on Alvin Kamara
- 27:19Speaker 2: in the game. With Kelvin Banks playing in his first
- 27:20Speaker 2: career NFL game, Telisi Fuaga on the other side, being
- 27:23Speaker 2: a very good run blocker. I don't think you're gonna
- 27:25Speaker 2: have Banks and a whole bunch of pass protection situations
- 27:27Speaker 2: for Spencer Ratler, so they run it, keep it close.
- 27:30Speaker 2: But I do have the Cardinals getting the win in
- 27:33Speaker 2: the Superdome against the Saints.
- 27:36Speaker 3: Barring a miracle, this is gonna be a shocking loss
- 27:38Speaker 3: for faithful who is the game Ten seconds ago I
- 27:44Speaker 3: was counting out.
- 27:45Speaker 2: All they have to do is win to get in.
- 27:47Speaker 2: We all kid, watch me bye and feel me No.
- 27:51Speaker 3: The game on the line.
- 27:53Speaker 2: Here comes to Hail Mary God fires in June from
- 28:04Speaker 2: stories JJ gonna throw a Ford Utch football for the
- 28:09Speaker 2: one on that they went over.
- 28:13Speaker 3: Dad. We'll see you in the postseason.
- 28:17Speaker 2: You ready for me? The Giants and Commanders Jane Daniels
- 28:23Speaker 2: was Must See TV made Bram wantson Must Listen Radio
- 28:26Speaker 2: last year Russell Wilson's starting for the g Men. Could
- 28:29Speaker 2: the Giants shock the world here, Cynthia?
- 28:32Speaker 3: They could?
- 28:33Speaker 5: I think that they will awesome, winning twenty seven to
- 28:37Speaker 5: twenty in this matchup.
- 28:39Speaker 6: Let's give a little love to Terry McLaurin. Yeah, get it.
- 28:41Speaker 6: We heard a lot of things.
- 28:42Speaker 5: He's he gonna play holdout, does he win a trade,
- 28:45Speaker 5: YadA YadA. You know how many people had more touchdowns
- 28:47Speaker 5: receiving touchdowns in.
- 28:48Speaker 6: Him last season?
- 28:49Speaker 3: Seventeen one just one and it.
- 28:52Speaker 5: Was actually seventeen touchdowns for Jamar Chase, but he had.
- 28:55Speaker 6: Thirteen last season.
- 28:56Speaker 5: I think he quietly is one of those guys who
- 28:59Speaker 5: produces year in and year up. He's maybe not like
- 29:02Speaker 5: one of the more diva e wide receive that tells
- 29:04Speaker 5: you all the things that you need to.
- 29:06Speaker 6: Know about him, but he just produces on the field.
- 29:09Speaker 5: This is a huge deal, especially when now you've added
- 29:11Speaker 5: Deebo Samuel, so you're gonna have this multitude of different places.
- 29:14Speaker 6: But maybe he'll even be open for once.
- 29:16Speaker 4: I love that and I disagree. I mean, I have
- 29:19Speaker 4: the Commanders winning, but one thing about NFL game deviut
- 29:23Speaker 4: is you know, we give you the exact scores, and
- 29:25Speaker 4: so I'm having the Giants cover that line there and
- 29:29Speaker 4: thread the needle.
- 29:29Speaker 3: But the Commanders win, and it's partly.
- 29:31Speaker 4: Because if they're the draft right, Abdul Carter, I never
- 29:34Speaker 4: knew how to make a signal for right the needle.
- 29:37Speaker 4: I'm not gonna do it. Look, the Commanders didn't cover
- 29:41Speaker 4: six points in either game against the Giants last year.
- 29:44Speaker 4: If you go and look at Danny Dimes and Brian
- 29:46Speaker 4: Dables best games of the season offensively, it was against
- 29:49Speaker 4: this Commander's defense, which to me didn't really get much
- 29:52Speaker 4: better this offseason. I know the quarterback position is important
- 29:56Speaker 4: in football, breaking news like it mattered.
- 29:59Speaker 3: It's the only reason why the Commanders are any better.
- 30:01Speaker 4: I actually think the rest of the roster for the
- 30:03Speaker 4: Giants better than the Commander's roster.
- 30:06Speaker 2: You can make that case. I also will make the
- 30:08Speaker 2: case that it's twenty three to twenty in favor of
- 30:11Speaker 2: the Washington Commanders, and I celebrate this Giants pass rush.
- 30:15Speaker 2: I think a dual Carter can do a lot of
- 30:17Speaker 2: great things, but it's a lot on the shoulders of
- 30:19Speaker 2: Javon Holland to come back and fix the secondary that
- 30:22Speaker 2: had a glaring issue last season. Deep passing teams competing
- 30:27Speaker 2: completed fifty nine percent of their deep attempts against the Giants.
- 30:31Speaker 2: That is the worst in the history of the next
- 30:34Speaker 2: Gen stats era, and I know the twenty twenty four Panthers.
- 30:38Speaker 2: I talked about it a lot, just how statistically they
- 30:40Speaker 2: were bad relative to the entire next Gen stats era.
- 30:43Speaker 2: The Giants were the worst had deep passing, and I
- 30:46Speaker 2: know they played against some pretty good receivers in the
- 30:48Speaker 2: division in aj Brown and yes, Terry McLaurin, who gave
- 30:51Speaker 2: a great pregame speech against the Lions that eventually got
- 30:54Speaker 2: them to the NFC Championship game. Just I'm glad that
- 30:57Speaker 2: Terry McLaren got paid. There's not a lot to look
- 31:01Speaker 2: back at positively for Cynthia, but we can celebrate to McLaurin.
- 31:04Speaker 2: Here on this show, we go from a battle in
- 31:05Speaker 2: the NFC East to one out West San fran and
- 31:08Speaker 2: Seattle getting set to square off. Check out some player
- 31:11Speaker 2: props for this one brought perty at one and a
- 31:13Speaker 2: half passing touchdown, Sam Donald two hundred and three passing yards,
- 31:17Speaker 2: CMC seventy three point five on the ground, George Kittle
- 31:20Speaker 2: sixty three and a half receiving and JSN five and
- 31:24Speaker 2: a half reception. The Giants and Commander's fun game. But
- 31:30Speaker 2: this game pits two division rivals with an opportunity to
- 31:33Speaker 2: get back at it. We get to see Kyle Shanahan
- 31:36Speaker 2: in the mode against the Seattle Seahawks. Where does this
- 31:40Speaker 2: one go? Greg Rosenthal?
- 31:42Speaker 4: I am going with the Seattle Seahawks as I say it,
- 31:45Speaker 4: and I see that, like Sam Donald in his first start,
- 31:48Speaker 4: I'm suddenly not feeling as good.
- 31:50Speaker 3: But it's about the defense.
- 31:51Speaker 4: The Seattle Seahawks and Mike McDonald in year two of
- 31:53Speaker 4: this system, to me, are an underrated choice to be
- 31:57Speaker 4: the best defense in the entire NFL. They have depth
- 32:01Speaker 4: and they have playmakers at all three level of their defense.
- 32:05Speaker 4: I love their defensive line Leonard Williams, they move him
- 32:08Speaker 4: around everywhere. Byron Murphy is going to get better and better.
- 32:12Speaker 4: I think DeMarcus Lawrence was one of the most underrated
- 32:15Speaker 4: defensive line pickups in the entire NFL. And then you
- 32:18Speaker 4: look at their secondary with Tarik Wollen and of course
- 32:20Speaker 4: Devin Weatherspoon, and I just try to look at units
- 32:24Speaker 4: that I trust in week one that I feel like
- 32:26Speaker 4: I know the most about.
- 32:27Speaker 3: There's so many.
- 32:27Speaker 4: Questions about the forty nine ers right now that I
- 32:29Speaker 4: trust the Seahawks defense at home.
- 32:32Speaker 5: My gut is almost exactly the same as yours, as
- 32:34Speaker 5: any one point win for the Seahawks, and this one,
- 32:37Speaker 5: the lovely number twenty two strikes again. Twenty two to
- 32:41Speaker 5: twenty one is my final projected score. People love twenty two,
- 32:44Speaker 5: people get mess She really love twenty two.
- 32:47Speaker 4: I mean, all you need is three touchdowns in a
- 32:49Speaker 4: two point conversion with those extra points whatever.
- 32:51Speaker 6: Man, But I do want to talk about Sam Donald.
- 32:53Speaker 5: Because this will be interesting to see if the O
- 32:56Speaker 5: line is going to keep the man clean. Sam Donald
- 32:59Speaker 5: had an expert He had an expert season last year
- 33:03Speaker 5: until the end when Christian so I went down and
- 33:05Speaker 5: then we saw what happened with a lot of pressure. Okay,
- 33:07Speaker 5: moving on, let's figure it out. And I think that
- 33:10Speaker 5: this offense is primed to put him in a good
- 33:13Speaker 5: situation to be better along that front.
- 33:15Speaker 6: Just better enough.
- 33:16Speaker 5: It doesn't need to be the best do line ever,
- 33:18Speaker 5: just needs to be better enough than it was last
- 33:21Speaker 5: season and.
- 33:21Speaker 6: Put Gino under a lot of pressure.
- 33:23Speaker 5: So Sam Darnold, to me, this will be a really
- 33:25Speaker 5: interesting test. Obviously, we got a Bosa coming for his life,
- 33:28Speaker 5: but other than that, I'm.
- 33:29Speaker 6: Very curious to see who we're going to me the West,
- 33:32Speaker 6: the NFC West. It's very very close.
- 33:34Speaker 5: And one of those teams is going to sneak into
- 33:36Speaker 5: the playoffs that we aren't expecting.
- 33:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm echoing your very very close sentiments, including the
- 33:41Speaker 2: one point game, except I have the forty nine Russ
- 33:44Speaker 2: in this game twenty two nineteen on the string out there,
- 33:47Speaker 2: quarterback brock Perty who has never lost playing in the
- 33:51Speaker 2: division against the Seattle Seahawks. In fact, he is five
- 33:54Speaker 2: and one total against the Seahawks through his career. And
- 33:58Speaker 2: I know the lot's changed over the years, but George
- 34:01Speaker 2: Kittle playing in this game, Christian Diccaffery, which chameses everything
- 34:04Speaker 2: for the forty nine ers healthy in this game, and
- 34:07Speaker 2: Cynthia mentioned that pressure on Gino Smith last year, there
- 34:10Speaker 2: would have to be a vast improvement in the interior
- 34:13Speaker 2: offensive line for the Seattle Seahawks because imagining Sam Darnold
- 34:16Speaker 2: under that level of pressure is very, very concerning to me.
- 34:19Speaker 2: So I'm completely fine taking a stray bahn on this
- 34:22Speaker 2: one time to check out the odds for the defensive
- 34:25Speaker 2: player of the year, speaking of getting pressure, Mikah Parsons
- 34:29Speaker 2: plus five fifty ahead of TJ. Watt, Aiden Hudginson, Miles Garrett,
- 34:32Speaker 2: and Max Crosby Greg who wins the Defensive Player of the.
- 34:36Speaker 3: Year for this is no fun.
- 34:37Speaker 4: I didn't know that he was the favorite, but it
- 34:40Speaker 4: makes sense that he's the favorite, not just because he's
- 34:43Speaker 4: on a new team and getting a lot of attention,
- 34:44Speaker 4: because he's the best pure pass rusher I think to
- 34:47Speaker 4: enter the league in the last twenty years, like he
- 34:50Speaker 4: is that good. He is the most pressure since the
- 34:52Speaker 4: date he walked into the league. He was a Defensive
- 34:54Speaker 4: Player of the Year runner up two times, including his
- 34:58Speaker 4: rookie season, and he came in third place another time.
- 35:01Speaker 4: So he is at that level where I just pick
- 35:03Speaker 4: him every year. He is the closest thing I think
- 35:06Speaker 4: we have to Mahomes on the defensive side. And I
- 35:09Speaker 4: do like the fact that he hasn't won the award before.
- 35:11Speaker 4: He's been so close time after time after time, and
- 35:14Speaker 4: I think they'll want to give it to him if
- 35:15Speaker 4: he has a great season.
- 35:17Speaker 2: Let's discuss the Rookie of the Year odds. According to
- 35:19Speaker 2: our friends at Caesar Sportsbook, Ashton Genti leading the way
- 35:22Speaker 2: at plus three hundred, just ahead of cam Ward Lamari
- 35:26Speaker 2: and Hampton, Travis Hunter, and Traveon Henderson. We enjoy rookies
- 35:30Speaker 2: considerably more than other sports entertainment program SODIA. Who is
- 35:34Speaker 2: your offensive Rookie of the Year pick?
- 35:36Speaker 5: Well, I was hoping you'd be a little bit further
- 35:37Speaker 5: down on the board, but I'm looking at cam Ward
- 35:40Speaker 5: for a number of reasons.
- 35:41Speaker 6: This week could be a tough test against the Broncos defense.
- 35:43Speaker 5: Okay, but if you're looking at trajectory going up into
- 35:46Speaker 5: the right as in getting better every single time a
- 35:49Speaker 5: Callahan led improved O line with a run game that
- 35:53Speaker 5: I actually think Tony Pard's underrated. I think this will
- 35:55Speaker 5: be a situation where at the end, come the end
- 35:57Speaker 5: of the season, we're like, cam Ward's that dude, He's
- 35:59Speaker 5: already a captain.
- 36:01Speaker 6: They have to tell him not to.
- 36:02Speaker 5: Come in so early because he gets there at by
- 36:04Speaker 5: in the morning. They've had to tell him to sleep
- 36:06Speaker 5: in a little bit longer.
- 36:07Speaker 6: So I'm going cam Ward, Yeah, I.
- 36:09Speaker 2: Love that stand at the facility. It's don for quick
- 36:11Speaker 2: fix here on game day you speaking to cam Ward.
- 36:14Speaker 2: He and the Titans have a pretty tough matchup. Welcome
- 36:16Speaker 2: to the NFL. If here comes the Denver Broncos, does
- 36:18Speaker 2: the rookie get his first Wayne.
- 36:19Speaker 4: Grego No way, I like the Broncos this week twenty
- 36:23Speaker 4: four to eleven, and I like them as my Survivor.
- 36:25Speaker 3: Pick this year or this week.
- 36:28Speaker 4: Because this Titan's offense to have to go up against
- 36:31Speaker 4: the Denver defense, that's tough, but hey, the Denver offense
- 36:34Speaker 4: also has great depth and continuity, especially at the wide
- 36:38Speaker 4: receiver position. Sean Payton loves to compare, you know, his
- 36:42Speaker 4: players to old Saints, and it's true. Yes, he compared
- 36:45Speaker 4: Pat Bryant, his rookie, to Michael Thomas.
- 36:48Speaker 3: He did, okay.
- 36:49Speaker 4: How about some other wide receivers not named Courtonton. Troy
- 36:52Speaker 4: Franklin had a big time preseason and people talking up
- 36:56Speaker 4: his ability. Maybe he's a little Robert meetscham how about
- 37:00Speaker 4: Evan Ingram out there making plays. He's definitely not Jimmy
- 37:04Speaker 4: Graham and he's not really Taysom Hill. I don't know
- 37:06Speaker 4: who the comp is, maybe like a smaller Marcus Colston.
- 37:10Speaker 4: But either way, they got a lot of weapons for
- 37:11Speaker 4: bow Knicks to throw.
- 37:12Speaker 3: The ball to.
- 37:13Speaker 2: All right, Yeah, we're mimas away Titans fans. We're all
- 37:16Speaker 2: on the Broncos, Bengals and Browns in Cleveland. Joe Burrow
- 37:19Speaker 2: is one in nine in his career. In weeks one
- 37:21Speaker 2: and two, does he get a win here, Cynthia.
- 37:23Speaker 6: He does, he'll be two and nine. Well, I guess
- 37:26Speaker 6: we'd have to see what happens in the second week.
- 37:27Speaker 5: But I'm looking at something that is very unsexy to
- 37:30Speaker 5: say about a team that we're hoping passes a ton,
- 37:32Speaker 5: myself included. But let's talk about the run game. You
- 37:35Speaker 5: got Chase Brown here, and one of the ways to
- 37:37Speaker 5: control and get away from Miles Garrett, and the pressure
- 37:40Speaker 5: is to what run the foot ball. You don't want
- 37:43Speaker 5: your defense on the field. How do you stop the
- 37:45Speaker 5: defense from be on the field?
- 37:47Speaker 6: Run the foot ball?
- 37:49Speaker 5: But I think all season long we'll see Chase Brown.
- 37:51Speaker 5: If you picked him up in Phantasy, I think you
- 37:52Speaker 5: did yourself a massive favor. I think this whole offense
- 37:55Speaker 5: is going to be worth having lots of shares. But
- 37:57Speaker 5: I think they're going to run and try to control
- 37:59Speaker 5: a little bit more of the pace so they're not
- 38:01Speaker 5: having to be like, you know, third and we need
- 38:03Speaker 5: to touch down to Jamar Chase and and yes, Jamar
- 38:06Speaker 5: Chase can do that, but like, let's not need that
- 38:07Speaker 5: every single time.
- 38:08Speaker 2: And they're trying to stay on snechedules season wise, so
- 38:10Speaker 2: they won't have to win seven of their last saint
- 38:13Speaker 2: to get into the playoffs. The last one, I'll take
- 38:15Speaker 2: the Raiders and the Patriots, and I'm actually flying solo here.
- 38:18Speaker 2: I am taking Gino Smith and what is not the
- 38:20Speaker 2: battle for Greg Rosenthal's heart, who has already said that
- 38:23Speaker 2: he is fully invested in the twenty twenty five New
- 38:26Speaker 2: England Patriots.
- 38:26Speaker 3: I mean, I love Gino too.
- 38:29Speaker 6: Who doesn't love Gina? He still loves you, Uj, everybody
- 38:31Speaker 6: loves Gino.
- 38:32Speaker 2: What Gino loves throwing the ball to Brock Bauers, who
- 38:34Speaker 2: had the fourth highest target rate of all tight ends
- 38:38Speaker 2: while getting six hundred and eleven yards last season. They
- 38:42Speaker 2: came after the catch. I think the entire Raiders offense
- 38:45Speaker 2: will be better. Yeah, I still waiting to see what
- 38:48Speaker 2: the defense is going to do, but ultimately I think
- 38:51Speaker 2: they can go on the road and get a win.
- 38:54Speaker 2: In July Stadium Sunday, Sunday Sunday, at nine am Eastern,
- 38:58Speaker 2: NFL Game Day Morning is back, joined Rich Eyes and
- 39:00Speaker 2: Kurt Warner, Steam Mary Ucci, Centia Freeland and more as
- 39:04Speaker 2: they get you ready for kicking off. Don't miss Kyle
- 39:06Speaker 2: Brant sitting down with Josh Allen, Davonte Adams with Kimmy Checks.
- 39:10Speaker 2: Start your Sunday with Game Day Morning at nine am
- 39:13Speaker 2: Eastern on NFL Network.
- 39:16Speaker 3: Thirteen people in that promo.
- 39:18Speaker 6: We're all the same height too.
- 39:20Speaker 2: That's how it works. It's it's unity, it's working together
- 39:23Speaker 2: to be There's there's no change, but there is change
- 39:27Speaker 2: in Super Bowl odds. According to Caesar Sportsbook, Buffalo Bills
- 39:31Speaker 2: wow edging out the Baltimore Ravens, who will have edged
- 39:34Speaker 2: out the Kansas City Chiefs, the Eagles as well as
- 39:37Speaker 2: the Lions, bringing us to write this down. We're talking
- 39:42Speaker 2: Super Bowl predictions. Cynthia nailed hers last season, So Eagles
- 39:48Speaker 2: over Chiefs, You're going back to the world. What are
- 39:50Speaker 2: we doing in your I guess title defense super Bowl?
- 39:54Speaker 6: I mean, I don't like picking the favorite. I didn't
- 39:57Speaker 6: know they were the favorite.
- 39:58Speaker 5: But the math says Bills over Eagles, so that I mean, wow.
- 40:03Speaker 6: I I didn't know they were favorite. I didn't know
- 40:05Speaker 6: there's a favorite.
- 40:07Speaker 3: I would love me a Buffalo Bill's Super Bowl. You know,
- 40:09Speaker 3: like how crazy they would go?
- 40:11Speaker 5: Oh yeah, San Francisco, my bird town, I might you know,
- 40:16Speaker 5: I don't want to too, our own horn, my own horn.
- 40:18Speaker 3: Actually, I do love doing that.
- 40:20Speaker 4: I had Eagle Chiefs as the Super Bowl. I just
- 40:22Speaker 4: had the wrong winner a couple of years ago too.
- 40:24Speaker 4: So we have a history on the show of getting
- 40:26Speaker 4: things right. And this year the Super Bowl is going
- 40:29Speaker 4: to be the Baltimore Ravens winning over your Detroit Lions.
- 40:34Speaker 4: I'm sorry, Cynthia that I'm gonna break your heart at
- 40:36Speaker 4: the very end. I off see it there long I
- 40:39Speaker 4: was actually thinking Lions are going to be pick my
- 40:41Speaker 4: pick lines are going to be. Then I like, look
- 40:43Speaker 4: at it, and I'm like, am I really gonna pick
- 40:44Speaker 4: Jared Goff and the biggest of big games against Lamar Jackson.
- 40:47Speaker 3: I'm not gonna do it.
- 40:48Speaker 4: I think this Ravens team is more complete, but man,
- 40:51Speaker 4: it would be great to see the Lions in the
- 40:53Speaker 4: big team.
- 40:53Speaker 5: I actually think the Ravens are still running on the
- 40:55Speaker 5: Lions from a couple of years ago. In some alternate universe,
- 40:57Speaker 5: they're still running the football and perhaps.
- 41:00Speaker 2: Before that game they'll play what we just said and
- 41:03Speaker 2: Jared Goff will be extra fire it up. I have
- 41:06Speaker 2: no horn to toot in picking Super Bowls, but a
- 41:08Speaker 2: few years ago I did pick the Baltimore Ravens to
- 41:10Speaker 2: beat the Green Bay Packers, so let's do it again.
- 41:13Speaker 2: I think the addition of Micah Parsons is enough because
- 41:17Speaker 2: I said into the offseason the Green Bay Packers just
- 41:20Speaker 2: needed some star power. The Baltimore Ravens don't need any
- 41:22Speaker 2: star power. They just need to get the postseason and
- 41:25Speaker 2: not turn the ball over and have tragic, heartbreaking losses.
- 41:29Speaker 2: And if they are able to do that this season,
- 41:31Speaker 2: I think they'll go to the super Bowl and beat
- 41:32Speaker 2: the Green Bay Packers. And I think I'm gonna really
- 41:35Speaker 2: enjoy doing this show with you guys once again. This
- 41:38Speaker 2: season one is in the books for Cynthia Freeland and
- 41:41Speaker 2: Greg Rosenthal. I'm Patrick Claybomb. Thank you for watching Game Deview.
- 41:45Speaker 2: Enjoy every single football game as much as we enjoy
- 41:48Speaker 2: talking about it. See next week.
