- 0:00All right high above the overpass waiting for my lift. I'm Alex Garrett,
- 0:04a little bit of Garrett on the go. As we are heading into Christmas
- 0:08weekend, I gotta say, whenever I hear the conductors say tickets, tickets,
- 0:13I do think of Tom Hanks and the Polar Express. Isn't that kind
- 0:17of funny? And No, I'm always enjoying taking the train at this time
- 0:23of year because of the movie that's going to be twenty eight years old next
- 0:28year, The Polar Express. I just thought i'd make that PSA on the
- 0:32Alex Scarett Podcast Network. I also want to say tomorrow we have a very
- 0:37special guest here on the network. She is the chairwoman chairperson of the Libertarian
- 0:45Party. She's the national chair of the Libertarian Party, Angela mccarto. You
- 0:50don't want to miss that conversation, and you don't want to miss my recent
- 0:54conversation with lou Terminello. As we hit Christmas, it's Terminella's take for this
- 1:00Christmas weekend and that you can find that in the link below. And as
- 1:04we hit this Christmas weekend, I have to say there's a group that should
- 1:10be supported, not just on small business Saturday, but on all Saturday,
- 1:17Sundays, Mondays, seven days a week. You know what your group.
- 1:21I'm thinking of the small business community because I had found this email and I
- 1:26found this data thanks to qrfive dot com. Apparently New York is second in
- 1:37the United States with sixty two point seven one percent of all businesses being classified
- 1:44as small businesses. That's right. When you support a small business, you
- 1:48are supporting over half the state's economy here in New York. Florida has the
- 1:56highest at sixty four percent. This coming from QR thanks to Ryan Cutler of
- 2:02the journal Research dot org. And by the way, they pulled this data
- 2:08from the US Census Bureau. That's right, the Census telling us that there
- 2:14is sixty two percent of our economy, of our small businesses, of our
- 2:19businesses being classified as small businesses. Astounding numbers for New York, three hundred
- 2:25and thirty five nine hundred and fifty establishments had fewer than five employees, and
- 2:31the annual payroll for all small businesses across New York was thirty three million,
- 2:37six hundred or thirty billion, six hundred million, eight hundred and thirty seven
- 2:42thousand, with an average of one hundred thousand per small business. So when
- 2:47you support small business who not only are supporting the business, you're not only
- 2:52saying screw you to the corporations, you are also saying, hey, we
- 2:59want to support new economy SAT And these stats, which I'm going to post
- 3:02up in the link below, are fascinating. Wyowing was third Montana, fourth
- 3:07in Colorado fifth. Mark por Car poor Car of the QRFI dot Com CEO,
- 3:19said, it's interesting to see the extent to which smaller businesses contribute to
- 3:23the overall number of businesses in each state. These figures are also from the
- 3:29end of the COVID nineteen lockdown period, which may have influenced people to start
- 3:32their own small business whilst working from home. We need this entrepreneurial spirit back
- 3:38here in America, I think, and this should be a great sign and
- 3:46an encouraging one that small businesses are thriving, they're alive, they're active,
- 3:52and not only that, by the way, they are for sure contributing.
- 4:00So why shouldn't we contribute to small businesses and the communities that we live in,
- 4:06Because we find out it's beyond just supporting our friends, our neighbors,
- 4:14our family. In their small business endeavors. It's also as I walk down
- 4:18the stairs supporting New York State and if the government's not going to help support
- 4:27the economy, we have to and I think this holiday season, do not
- 4:32neglect your small businesses at all. They are the lifeblood of this country.
- 4:40It's the men and women that roll up their sleeves that start a business and
- 4:43say we're gonna go out there and make a difference. It's why One Leg
- 4:46Up with Alex Carrett exists because I want to talk to people. I want
- 4:50to share stats of those who are having one leg up in this society.
- 4:57And yes it's factual now the US Census can't hide it. Small businesses are
- 5:03having this economy of one leg up. Small businesses have one leg up in
- 5:09New York State. And I just thought it felt right to say this.
- 5:15As you are out and about shopping this holiday weekend, this Christmas weekend,
- 5:19please do not neglect the small businesses because they are the lifeblood of our state,
- 5:26of our community, and maybe even of our families. And it's a
- 5:31generational things. We're supporting generations of that small business heritage and lineage as well.
- 5:40Just something to think about as the train arrives in and I've got to
- 5:44get going here on the Alex Garrett Podcast Network. Have a great night,
- 5:49and stay tuned tomorrow for Angela mccartal, the chairwoman of the Libertarian National part
- 6:00Nation a party nation wide. We get into this stat as well. All
- 6:06coming tomorrow this Christmas weekend here on the Alex Garrett Podcast Network
