- 0:02Speaker 1: This is an unspoiled network podcast. This is Spoil Me,
- 0:09Speaker 1: covering One Piece, episodes 929 through 930, the bond between
- 0:17Speaker 1: prisoners Luffy and Old Man Hyo, and a lead performer,
- 0:24Speaker 1: Queen the Plague, emerges. In these episodes... We get a
- 0:32Speaker 1: lot more of Luffy. We get more Discord in the prison.
- 0:36Speaker 1: We get Queen, who we've met, but it kind of
- 0:40Speaker 1: feels like because of this episode, no, we haven't. And
- 0:44Speaker 1: we have a few other players added to the pool.
- 0:47Speaker 1: It is a lot of people. We have a lot
- 0:50Speaker 1: of people. Welcome to Spoil Me. Welcome to the show, everyone.
- 1:14Speaker 1: I am Natasha. Thank you very much to Lena for
- 1:18Speaker 1: commissioning this episode. Lena is here in the chat. Lena,
- 1:21Speaker 1: thank you so much. Appreciate you. And appreciate you being
- 1:25Speaker 1: here as well. And I... Yeah. Seraphim says, we've met Queen,
- 1:32Speaker 1: but this is the first time I really see what
- 1:34Speaker 1: he's like. And Lena says, I didn't know what to
- 1:36Speaker 1: expect of Queen, but I loved it. Agreed. So... Just
- 1:41Speaker 1: to clarify, I thought at one point that you guys
- 1:45Speaker 1: might have told me that Queen's pronouns were different, but
- 1:48Speaker 1: is it he, him? Or maybe there's a different character
- 1:50Speaker 1: I'm thinking of. Yeah. Queen is a real surprise. And
- 1:58Speaker 1: I won't lie. I had this like zoom it, zoom it,
- 2:02Speaker 1: zoom it in my head for a little while afterward.
- 2:05Speaker 1: It's weirdly like catchy in a, in a way that,
- 2:12Speaker 1: I love Brooke's songs and performances, but he doesn't have
- 2:16Speaker 1: something that's often as easy to just repeat and remember.
- 2:22Speaker 1: So no offense at all, Brooke, but this one kind
- 2:26Speaker 1: of got me. And it's also very simple. That's part
- 2:29Speaker 1: of it as well. But I don't want to start
- 2:34Speaker 1: there because I want to be able to actually go
- 2:36Speaker 1: through the episode and look at There are some things
- 2:39Speaker 1: about the visuals of Queen showing up that I want
- 2:41Speaker 1: to talk about. So a reminder in the last episode,
- 2:50Speaker 1: we had the courtesan. I cannot remember her name. We
- 2:55Speaker 1: have her killed by this dude that I think is
- 2:58Speaker 1: the slasher. A lot of people are not happy with,
- 3:03Speaker 1: About this, he tries to pretend that it's loyalty, but
- 3:06Speaker 1: I think that he's just a sadist creep. And there's some...
- 3:13Speaker 1: I'm trying to think of the word here now. There's
- 3:16Speaker 1: a series of reveals of who Queen is, but also
- 3:26Speaker 1: the fact that he is very into... Kimura Saki. Thank you, Seraphim.
- 3:36Speaker 1: And nobody wants to tell him that she's dead because
- 3:41Speaker 1: they think that he's going to flip out. Now, I
- 3:44Speaker 1: am surprised that it seems she's really dead because I
- 3:51Speaker 1: just don't, the show just doesn't really do that. I
- 3:54Speaker 1: find it kind of weird that she's really dead. There's
- 3:57Speaker 1: a part of me that's wondering if maybe she's not
- 3:59Speaker 1: and we're just like, putting the word out there. Like,
- 4:02Speaker 1: did we fake her death for reasons? Maybe, I don't know.
- 4:09Speaker 1: But it, the, the thing that I'm curious about is
- 4:14Speaker 1: that nobody is like willing to stand up to this
- 4:19Speaker 1: dude after he kills her because he's claiming it's a
- 4:22Speaker 1: loyalty thing. And I'm wondering if queen is going to
- 4:26Speaker 1: be the one to draw a line in the sand
- 4:30Speaker 1: and be like, know what the fuck this guy needs
- 4:34Speaker 1: to be punished for this it was a unilateral decision
- 4:38Speaker 1: that's not how we do that you know i don't
- 4:40Speaker 1: know i just want him to be held accountable and
- 4:46Speaker 1: i like the cut of queen's jib and so if
- 4:50Speaker 1: queen were the one to do it it would be
- 4:52Speaker 1: satisfying um but i i do want to say by
- 4:56Speaker 1: no means well again i'm getting out of order here
- 4:59Speaker 1: uh So we start out with, uh, a bunch of
- 5:10Speaker 1: colored rice being laid at this. Um, I don't know
- 5:15Speaker 1: if it's a gravestone, but, uh, Conjura says your pursuers
- 5:21Speaker 1: must have been persistent. Indeed. If you fled all the
- 5:24Speaker 1: way here to Ringo, but rest assured, Oh, she's men
- 5:27Speaker 1: will not follow this far. And, uh, Robin is shocked
- 5:33Speaker 1: about Kimura Saki's death and they are actually getting a
- 5:36Speaker 1: little bit concerned about whether the little girl is actually okay,
- 5:42Speaker 1: which I think is fair. You know, the, the way
- 5:48Speaker 1: that he was able to justify this here, if he's
- 5:52Speaker 1: got a little girl in his clutches, he could kind
- 5:55Speaker 1: of say whatever he's got all the power. And the
- 5:58Speaker 1: one thing that I could hope is that, the little
- 6:01Speaker 1: girl is like as resourceful as I think she seems
- 6:07Speaker 1: like kind of a terror. So the idea of her
- 6:11Speaker 1: being able to somehow escape him, I actually buy, he
- 6:15Speaker 1: doesn't seem that smart too, but I don't know. Let's see. Oh, right.
- 6:22Speaker 1: And there's a mention of, this Yakuza boss who is,
- 6:31Speaker 1: I'm pretty positive, right guys? The old man that's in
- 6:35Speaker 1: the prison. It's really kind of wild because he was
- 6:44Speaker 1: a Yakuza boss, according to this, which I wasn't expecting
- 6:48Speaker 1: Yakuza to be a thing in this universe. I, I
- 7:00Speaker 1: don't know why, because we've got Capone and a whole
- 7:04Speaker 1: mafia thing going on. I think it's just because everything
- 7:08Speaker 1: has been so specific to Wano and the historically feudal
- 7:17Speaker 1: Japan that I think of the Yakuza as like a
- 7:21Speaker 1: more modern thing, but I don't know that that's true.
- 7:24Speaker 1: I don't really know anything about it. So it might
- 7:26Speaker 1: be really ancient. And I'm just like an ignorant American.
- 7:31Speaker 1: And I had been thinking that everybody that was up
- 7:33Speaker 1: in that jail was there for reasons that are made
- 7:38Speaker 1: up or at the very least, like exaggerated that like, yeah,
- 7:43Speaker 1: maybe they did something wrong, but prison is a pretty
- 7:45Speaker 1: insane sentence. But this dude, having been like the, a
- 7:50Speaker 1: crime boss is sounding like a valid reason to jail somebody. Uh,
- 7:56Speaker 1: he's called Hyogoro the flower. And we have this like
- 8:00Speaker 1: silhouette of this real muscular dude who like slowly turns
- 8:04Speaker 1: toward the camera in dramatic fashion. And to see him
- 8:09Speaker 1: later at like two feet tall, it is, it is
- 8:16Speaker 1: a surprise. Brooke calls the name extravagant, which I really
- 8:22Speaker 1: do like actually, because the flower is an interesting, you know,
- 8:28Speaker 1: I'm always a fan of names that don't sound that
- 8:33Speaker 1: badass because it almost makes them more intimidating. Not always.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Sometimes a badass name is just badass and that's all
- 8:41Speaker 1: there is to it. But there are times where something
- 8:44Speaker 1: being like, you kind of underestimate it because it sounds
- 8:48Speaker 1: like nothing. And the flower is vague. You know, what
- 8:53Speaker 1: exactly does that mean? Why? And Shinobu was talking about
- 9:00Speaker 1: how he was a man of honor and that he
- 9:04Speaker 1: would have helped the people that are falling to this dude.
- 9:10Speaker 1: What's the, what's the name of the guy that, that
- 9:13Speaker 1: killed her? I keep, like missing everybody's names. It's so guys,
- 9:19Speaker 1: there are so many people in this arc. I'm just,
- 9:25Speaker 1: just sidestepping for a second here. Every time that I've
- 9:30Speaker 1: been covering this, there's like the introduction of one or
- 9:33Speaker 1: two more devil fruit users, like the, the smile fruit,
- 9:37Speaker 1: I guess. And I, I keep thinking that's got to
- 9:43Speaker 1: be it, right? And then the next time there's two
- 9:46Speaker 1: more or three more. And I am, I have to
- 9:52Speaker 1: assume it's not going to be crucial for me to
- 9:58Speaker 1: know everybody's names. but it does frustrate me when I'm
- 10:03Speaker 1: trying to cover things to not have a grasp on
- 10:09Speaker 1: names enough to make it clear what's happening when I'm
- 10:11Speaker 1: recounting a scene. And even if, like... It's not Seraphim, sorry.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Florian at one point made me this like spreadsheet with
- 10:20Speaker 1: character images and like their powers and everything, which was
- 10:26Speaker 1: awesome for that point in the story. But at this point,
- 10:31Speaker 1: there are so many that I think it would take
- 10:33Speaker 1: me longer to like go through a spreadsheet and figure
- 10:37Speaker 1: out who it is than it does for me to
- 10:39Speaker 1: just ask you if you guys remember. but you're not
- 10:42Speaker 1: always going to be here in the chat. You know,
- 10:44Speaker 1: I don't like relying completely on y'all because I know
- 10:47Speaker 1: that there's going to be a day where one of
- 10:49Speaker 1: you isn't able to make it. And then I'm just
- 10:51Speaker 1: over here going, you know, the guy, you know, that guy,
- 10:53Speaker 1: that guy, he's the one who said it. Seraphim says,
- 10:59Speaker 1: Hyushiro is the current Yakuza boss who killed Komurasaki. Oda
- 11:05Speaker 1: had too much fun coming up with smile designs. Yeah,
- 11:08Speaker 1: that is a very clear one. And I liked the
- 11:10Speaker 1: idea too, that, It was like, oh, and I get
- 11:14Speaker 1: to make them real fucked up and weird, especially like
- 11:17Speaker 1: coming up with animal designs is going to be fun anyway.
- 11:21Speaker 1: But then you're giving yourself permission to like have them
- 11:25Speaker 1: just kind of not be right. And so you get to,
- 11:28Speaker 1: you know, Lena says it's honestly the same for me.
- 11:33Speaker 1: I'm not trying to remember them all. Yeah, I'm not
- 11:36Speaker 1: trying to either. But I do feel like. I'm stumbling
- 11:40Speaker 1: over things and not repping well for myself when I
- 11:43Speaker 1: can't remember names. And I know that like, I considering
- 11:50Speaker 1: the number of characters in this show, I think I
- 11:53Speaker 1: actually do fairly well. Like I give myself like a
- 11:58Speaker 1: passing grade, like a 75 out of a hundred, but
- 12:03Speaker 1: I cannot imagine folks who have just like watched this
- 12:06Speaker 1: so many times that remember everybody's names because I, That's
- 12:10Speaker 1: like so much hard drive space just for names. Florian says,
- 12:16Speaker 1: I call the Smilefruit user by their animal. That's probably
- 12:21Speaker 1: a good call. As long as I'm always able to tell,
- 12:24Speaker 1: which mostly you are. Florian says, yeah, you do good,
- 12:29Speaker 1: I say. And Lena says, yeah, you do better than me.
- 12:32Speaker 1: All right. Well, as long as I'm like, as long
- 12:35Speaker 1: as I'm making myself clear, that's the main thing is
- 12:38Speaker 1: that I don't want somebody who's listening going, Oh my God,
- 12:43Speaker 1: I don't know what she's even talking about. You know,
- 12:45Speaker 1: there've been a few podcasts I've listened to where somebody
- 12:48Speaker 1: was not great about remembering character names from a book
- 12:51Speaker 1: and they're explaining the plot to somebody. And I'm like,
- 12:54Speaker 1: I have read this book and I have no idea
- 12:55Speaker 1: what you're talking about. So I just don't want to
- 12:58Speaker 1: sound like I'm, I don't want it to be frustrating
- 13:01Speaker 1: for listeners, you know? Um, Seraphim says, we know I'm
- 13:06Speaker 1: a freak who absorbs this info like a sponge. And
- 13:10Speaker 1: God bless you for it, Seraphim. So, yeah. Conjuro is saying, well,
- 13:20Speaker 1: it sounds like that dude fucking sucks. And Robin is like, well,
- 13:26Speaker 1: maybe we shouldn't have taken Otoko back to his pleasure
- 13:29Speaker 1: hall if he is that dangerous. And this is when
- 13:35Speaker 1: everybody is sort of like, Oh God, but he was
- 13:39Speaker 1: willing to do this thing in front of everybody. And
- 13:42Speaker 1: she is a literal child. Probably we should go check
- 13:45Speaker 1: on her and see what all is going on. At
- 13:49Speaker 1: this point, Brooke comes up with the idea. Let's go
- 13:52Speaker 1: to a bath house to rest our weary bones, pun intended.
- 13:58Speaker 1: And once, you know, we have relaxed, We'll be able
- 14:05Speaker 1: to find the answers to our struggles, which everybody agrees to. Now,
- 14:12Speaker 1: this is surprising to me. I really want to be
- 14:16Speaker 1: very clear. I fully approve of this plan. I love
- 14:20Speaker 1: a good bath. I love when my friends in this
- 14:24Speaker 1: show get to kind of chill for a minute. All
- 14:27Speaker 1: of this is actually what I want to see. But
- 14:30Speaker 1: it does surprise me that we're worried about this little
- 14:36Speaker 1: girl and we decide to kind of put things on
- 14:39Speaker 1: hold and go to a bath house. It's odd. Is
- 14:45Speaker 1: that just me? I, this, this arc in particular has
- 14:50Speaker 1: had a lot of pausing at points that I think
- 14:56Speaker 1: things feel particularly urgent and going in another direction and
- 15:02Speaker 1: in a moment that I am sort of going, why
- 15:05Speaker 1: are we doing this now? Like not even necessarily story wise,
- 15:09Speaker 1: but like the characters, you know, earlier on when Luffy
- 15:15Speaker 1: is getting Otama back, he, you know, is in the
- 15:19Speaker 1: middle of rescuing her. And then he gets like diverted
- 15:24Speaker 1: to have this sumo fight. And, literally has left her
- 15:29Speaker 1: undefended for a minute and it winds up being okay
- 15:32Speaker 1: and working out but it does not make me feel
- 15:35Speaker 1: good about his decision there was another thing just a
- 15:38Speaker 1: few episodes back i feel like where it was a
- 15:40Speaker 1: similar and i can't remember what it was but you
- 15:43Speaker 1: know there was a character who's like oh we have
- 15:46Speaker 1: to do such and such but first and they they
- 15:48Speaker 1: like take a detour in a way that i was
- 15:51Speaker 1: sort of like what why um zorro that's what it
- 15:56Speaker 1: is thank you florian And our friends now being like, oh,
- 16:01Speaker 1: this little girl is stuck with this guy that's super
- 16:03Speaker 1: dangerous and we're worried about her. Why don't we all
- 16:07Speaker 1: go soak in the bathhouse and think it over? I mean,
- 16:10Speaker 1: I get that we don't have a plan yet, but
- 16:13Speaker 1: that has never stopped us before ever, ever. So I
- 16:21Speaker 1: am not feeling like upset. It's just kind of confusing.
- 16:29Speaker 1: it's just a little bit like I wouldn't, I would
- 16:34Speaker 1: like a little bit more of a, an excuse for
- 16:40Speaker 1: everybody to go off and do what they want to
- 16:42Speaker 1: do in that moment. So that it doesn't just feel
- 16:45Speaker 1: like they're completely sidestepping their responsibilities. Um, because like, I
- 16:51Speaker 1: want to see Luffy get in a sumo fight. I
- 16:54Speaker 1: want to see Zoro wandering around as a, uh, What
- 16:59Speaker 1: is it? Ronin, right? And I want to see all
- 17:04Speaker 1: of our friends going to a bathhouse. Like, I want
- 17:06Speaker 1: this stuff. But when I'm so used to them taking action, action,
- 17:14Speaker 1: action almost all the time, even if that action is
- 17:17Speaker 1: drawn out, it just kind of stymies me and makes
- 17:23Speaker 1: me go, oh, okay. I thought I knew what was up,
- 17:28Speaker 1: but I guess not. And confuses me about the characters
- 17:33Speaker 1: who seem to not be as worried as they just
- 17:35Speaker 1: claimed to be. So I wouldn't have minded just a
- 17:39Speaker 1: little bit of something in there to make it like
- 17:42Speaker 1: Zorro thinks his friends have got it and he doesn't
- 17:45Speaker 1: have to rush back. Or for Luffy to think Otama
- 17:48Speaker 1: is safe and that he doesn't have to, you know,
- 17:51Speaker 1: it would not have taken much to, for example, what
- 17:55Speaker 1: if the bathhouse happens to be really close to where
- 17:58Speaker 1: the pleasure house is? And we're going there allegedly for
- 18:02Speaker 1: the bathhouse, but we're also, it's a recon mission. You know,
- 18:06Speaker 1: I just feel like there could be some more connective
- 18:08Speaker 1: tissue there that would make it feel less jarring and
- 18:13Speaker 1: make it feel less out of character as well. Because
- 18:16Speaker 1: I kind of expected when Brooke says, why don't we
- 18:20Speaker 1: go to the bathhouse? I thought everybody was going to
- 18:21Speaker 1: be like, what now? Like I expected this to be
- 18:25Speaker 1: a moment where there's a disagreement. And if anything, it,
- 18:30Speaker 1: would be like, Brooke is here. What's going on with
- 18:34Speaker 1: Sanji later where Sanji is super preoccupied with the bathhouse
- 18:37Speaker 1: and everybody is just like, dude, oh my God, shut
- 18:39Speaker 1: up about it. But instead everybody just agrees immediately and
- 18:44Speaker 1: thinks that this is a good idea. And I was
- 18:47Speaker 1: just not expecting that at all. Um, so let's see. Uh,
- 18:55Speaker 1: One question first. Arobi, perchance were you able to collect
- 18:59Speaker 1: any valuable information? This is hilarious. Robin, and I think
- 19:07Speaker 1: she's being sincere here in feeling like she didn't do enough,
- 19:14Speaker 1: but she lowers her head in shame and says, I'm
- 19:21Speaker 1: so sorry I wasn't able to get very much, but
- 19:23Speaker 1: I'll share my meager scraps. I know what time Orochi
- 19:29Speaker 1: will wake up on the day of the battle. I
- 19:30Speaker 1: know what offerings they will take with them to Onogashima.
- 19:34Speaker 1: I know Kaido's favorite food and his crew's hierarchy and
- 19:37Speaker 1: the number of soldiers and weapons that... And then she
- 19:41Speaker 1: just like sighs. This is delightful, Robin. I appreciate this.
- 19:50Speaker 1: feeling of like, I really could have done more when
- 19:52Speaker 1: actually you're the star pupil. And also this is when
- 19:57Speaker 1: Brooke mentions having found a Poneglyph and says like, it
- 20:00Speaker 1: wasn't a red one, but nevertheless. And Let's see. I
- 20:09Speaker 1: forgot that they're calling Brooke Bone Keechie, which is just great.
- 20:16Speaker 1: It was in a basement room with a reinforced door,
- 20:19Speaker 1: an odd place full of wooden dolls. And it had
- 20:25Speaker 1: me remembering this giant straw hat. You know, it was
- 20:32Speaker 1: in like a frozen place somewhere. I don't know how
- 20:36Speaker 1: I just kind of, no, I do know. I was
- 20:38Speaker 1: going to say, I don't know how I forgot about
- 20:40Speaker 1: the giant straw hat. There's a lot to fucking keep
- 20:42Speaker 1: track of. So I'm not surprised. I forgot about the
- 20:46Speaker 1: giant straw hat. Like, who am I kidding? Bernadette says, yeah,
- 20:51Speaker 1: Wano is a bit unusual when it comes to pacing.
- 20:53Speaker 1: I always thought that is because of the premise of
- 20:55Speaker 1: them being somewhat undercover. I see that. Seraphim says, in
- 20:59Speaker 1: this case, I think it's that your idea of what
- 21:01Speaker 1: sort of sadistic murderer Kiyoshiro is, isn't the way, Oh,
- 21:08Speaker 1: the others are seeing him. So I don't, so they
- 21:11Speaker 1: don't think time is of the essence. Um, the thing
- 21:16Speaker 1: is Sarah femme that they're just always ready to do shit.
- 21:23Speaker 1: Even when it really isn't that urgent. A lot of
- 21:26Speaker 1: the time, you know what I mean? It just feels
- 21:28Speaker 1: like the, the characters that we have seen, if there,
- 21:32Speaker 1: if there's a child that's in trouble, And they're like,
- 21:37Speaker 1: I'm worried that he might, you know, I know that
- 21:42Speaker 1: he's probably a literal sadist. They don't need to know
- 21:46Speaker 1: that he's sadistic. They know that he just murdered a
- 21:49Speaker 1: woman in front of everybody and are worried that maybe
- 21:52Speaker 1: he would be willing to kill a child. That feels
- 21:54Speaker 1: like enough urgency. It's just what they just said. That
- 21:59Speaker 1: feels like enough that those straw hats I know would
- 22:03Speaker 1: have in other circumstances immediately gone out there to rescue her.
- 22:09Speaker 1: I just feel like that's perfectly adequate as urgency, but
- 22:13Speaker 1: I don't know. You know, it's, it's anyway. So let's see. Oh, sorry.
- 22:23Speaker 1: When Seraphim is saying that was in Marie Joie. So anyway,
- 22:29Speaker 1: We're so, okay, so we're not finding out what that
- 22:31Speaker 1: is for, like, ages then, probably. How weird. Okay, okay, okay, sorry. Um,
- 22:40Speaker 1: the mission was a resounding success. I thank you all
- 22:44Speaker 1: to have such reliable allies is truly a gift. Gift.
- 22:49Speaker 1: A gift. Um, so, yeah, Conjuro is feeling pretty good
- 22:55Speaker 1: about everything, which, um, they have done a good job.
- 23:00Speaker 1: I'm in agreement there. So then we go to a
- 23:06Speaker 1: guy selling newspapers on the street, telling everybody about Kimura
- 23:11Speaker 1: Saki's death. And there's like a picture of her and
- 23:15Speaker 1: everybody's wailing and gnashing their teeth, but nobody more so
- 23:21Speaker 1: than Sanji, who really wants to go to the women's
- 23:24Speaker 1: bath house, of course. Um, and, everybody else is just like,
- 23:31Speaker 1: can you please fucking focus? There's, let's see, they're asking
- 23:38Speaker 1: Trafalgar law because he's reading the paper. If there's anything
- 23:40Speaker 1: in there about Luffy and there isn't, and they're all
- 23:44Speaker 1: just saying like, it's only a matter of time until
- 23:47Speaker 1: there's some rampage that he goes on that is going
- 23:53Speaker 1: to make it into the news, which is probably true.
- 23:56Speaker 1: I am curious, like, Hmm. Because the thing about publicizing
- 24:04Speaker 1: when somebody is being badass and standing up to authority
- 24:07Speaker 1: is that you give everybody ideas that it's possible to
- 24:10Speaker 1: stand up to authority. So if you're somebody who's really
- 24:14Speaker 1: got a handle on keeping control, you actually just wouldn't
- 24:17Speaker 1: put that in the newspaper at all, unless it's to
- 24:21Speaker 1: emphasize that you're making an example of him because you
- 24:23Speaker 1: caught him. So I wonder if they're right about that.
- 24:29Speaker 1: and how that would be handled. Um, I forgot about
- 24:34Speaker 1: the fact that there's a mention of how kid got
- 24:37Speaker 1: out of prison somehow. And immediately Sanji is just like, wait,
- 24:43Speaker 1: is he going to get to the bath house before me?
- 24:45Speaker 1: And everybody is like, what are you fucking talking about? Um,
- 24:51Speaker 1: he's been working with Hawkins. So when I saw him,
- 24:53Speaker 1: I should have guessed his partner would be here as well,
- 24:55Speaker 1: or ex-partner since he escaped from the prison in Udon.
- 24:59Speaker 1: And they're all rather surprised that he was able to
- 25:02Speaker 1: escape and Luffy wasn't. So that's, you know, the idea
- 25:12Speaker 1: that like, this is going to make it even harder
- 25:15Speaker 1: for him to break out because they're going to be
- 25:18Speaker 1: on high alert. They've lost law. Now it's going to
- 25:22Speaker 1: be very, very locked down. And again, Sanji, okay, but
- 25:26Speaker 1: do you think they have nice bathhouses there? And what
- 25:30Speaker 1: I like about this is that they keep having the
- 25:33Speaker 1: camera handle Sanji as if he's being like badass and
- 25:37Speaker 1: serious in these statements. And thus, when he just keeps
- 25:43Speaker 1: talking about the bathhouse, it's extra funny because it's just like,
- 25:48Speaker 1: why are you doing it in such a, You know
- 25:51Speaker 1: what I'm saying? In such a voice with such an
- 25:54Speaker 1: expression on your face. And I forgot, they just yell,
- 26:00Speaker 1: come here, you idiot. And like jump on him and
- 26:03Speaker 1: just begin fighting him. And we have this moment where
- 26:08Speaker 1: they knock down the door and they, like Sanji has
- 26:13Speaker 1: his can that has the suit in it roll away.
- 26:18Speaker 1: And when they knocked on the door, there's these little
- 26:20Speaker 1: boys that are outside that see it and come running
- 26:23Speaker 1: and grabbing it. And then we cut over to Trafalgar Law,
- 26:28Speaker 1: just calmly sitting, still reading the paper. But we just
- 26:32Speaker 1: had these three little kids in the background who were
- 26:34Speaker 1: fighting over this like suit. And I really like that
- 26:38Speaker 1: they feel like a metaphor for our guys who are
- 26:42Speaker 1: acting like little children, just scuffling and unable to like
- 26:45Speaker 1: control themselves. While Trafalgar is being the father figure who
- 26:48Speaker 1: has control of himself and is just calm, you know,
- 26:51Speaker 1: despite everything. Um, so then we go to mom's kids,
- 26:59Speaker 1: big mom's children, and they're licking their wounds and lickety
- 27:05Speaker 1: licking their wounds. LOL. Um, and, remarking on the fact
- 27:11Speaker 1: that since they survived without a scratch, like, first of all,
- 27:17Speaker 1: they're all surprised by that, but they're also thinking there's
- 27:22Speaker 1: no way that mom is actually dead. She is so resilient.
- 27:27Speaker 1: And if we are okay, there's no way. And, and
- 27:30Speaker 1: Prospero has her beaver card. So that confirms, but they, they,
- 27:37Speaker 1: do begin to talk about if something were to have
- 27:39Speaker 1: happened to her, then what happens to all of us?
- 27:44Speaker 1: And Prospero immediately is just like, oh, well, then we'd
- 27:47Speaker 1: all be the Prospero pirates. And of course, everybody is like, wait, what?
- 27:55Speaker 1: I thought it was going to become a like, oh, no,
- 27:58Speaker 1: I should be the pirate captain. It should be like
- 28:01Speaker 1: named after me. But it actually is about what's-his-face, the
- 28:07Speaker 1: brother that they are all worshipping, essentially, that Luffy was
- 28:13Speaker 1: managing to beat. Can't remember his name, guys. Help me
- 28:16Speaker 1: out here. I want to say Kimura Kami, and I'm not, like,
- 28:19Speaker 1: where did I get that? I don't know what that is.
- 28:23Speaker 1: But I kind of appreciated that. That the kids aren't, like... Katakuri,
- 28:33Speaker 1: thank you, Seraphim. I appreciate that kids aren't squabbling amongst themselves,
- 28:37Speaker 1: each wanting to personally be the one in charge. It's
- 28:41Speaker 1: that Katakuri is so superior to all of them and
- 28:45Speaker 1: they all recognize that and are weirdly supportive of that
- 28:50Speaker 1: in a way. It seems like Prosper is the only
- 28:53Speaker 1: one who kind of isn't. And he says something like,
- 28:55Speaker 1: I'm the oldest and so it should go to me.
- 28:58Speaker 1: But they're arguing that it's quality that's important here not
- 29:04Speaker 1: seniority which um i have to agree with i say
- 29:09Speaker 1: let them fight for it if we're gonna do this
- 29:12Speaker 1: let him go up against category and let's see what
- 29:14Speaker 1: happens and i think that should decide it um but
- 29:19Speaker 1: yeah i i was just pleasantly surprised at the fact
- 29:22Speaker 1: that they Are more united than I was expecting them
- 29:26Speaker 1: to be. There's of course going to be infighting to
- 29:29Speaker 1: a degree. There always is, but it's just not what
- 29:33Speaker 1: I was anticipating. So then we cut over to Big Mom.
- 29:40Speaker 1: They're riding on the back of this giant alligator that
- 29:42Speaker 1: has a single like tear coming out of its eye
- 29:46Speaker 1: because she apparently hit it in the head, but it's
- 29:48Speaker 1: letting them ride its back. I thought that it was
- 29:52Speaker 1: going to be that that tear was because she's so
- 29:54Speaker 1: heavy that carrying her because she's just huge. Like she's,
- 29:58Speaker 1: towering over everybody else and you know i had mentioned
- 30:05Speaker 1: in a previous episode about how like i wondered about
- 30:10Speaker 1: her fugue states and exactly how they would manifest now
- 30:15Speaker 1: that she doesn't have her memory like is that something
- 30:17Speaker 1: that will still be there or not and like the
- 30:24Speaker 1: fact that she was able to have some food, but
- 30:27Speaker 1: then kind of like just go, oh, thanks so much.
- 30:31Speaker 1: This was really generous and not start to throw a fit.
- 30:36Speaker 1: I thought that that was like pretty compelling actually as
- 30:41Speaker 1: evidence that perhaps she isn't going to be a problem
- 30:46Speaker 1: in that department anymore. But, as things begin to unfold
- 30:53Speaker 1: with this group, it's beginning to look more and more
- 30:57Speaker 1: like maybe this is potentially stirring under the surface here.
- 31:04Speaker 1: I don't know. You know what I'm saying? Like, I
- 31:08Speaker 1: don't know if it's just, what's the word I want?
- 31:14Speaker 1: If it's, if we're being trolled, I guess is really
- 31:18Speaker 1: the best way to say it. I don't know if,
- 31:20Speaker 1: you know, it's really not going to turn into what
- 31:23Speaker 1: it has been, but Oda wants us to be scared
- 31:28Speaker 1: and wonder about it and be worried about it. And
- 31:30Speaker 1: so we're getting a lot of like false starts that
- 31:36Speaker 1: it turns out are nothing. Or if it is genuinely
- 31:41Speaker 1: hinting at the fact that like, yeah, no, no matter
- 31:45Speaker 1: if she remembers who she is or not, that is
- 31:48Speaker 1: not something she necessarily has control over and it is
- 31:51Speaker 1: going to come up again and be an issue. So
- 31:56Speaker 1: I'm just kind of interested to see where that goes,
- 32:00Speaker 1: because it's a lot of her like saying, oh, we're
- 32:03Speaker 1: going such a long way. I really think I need
- 32:06Speaker 1: a snack before we go there. Or, oh, you know,
- 32:11Speaker 1: like I, I'm looking at the map and realizing it's
- 32:15Speaker 1: going to be even further to such and such than
- 32:18Speaker 1: I was expecting. So I would really like something to eat.
- 32:23Speaker 1: And when she says this, she's looking over at Chopper,
- 32:26Speaker 1: who understandably is really twitchy about the fact that she
- 32:33Speaker 1: seems to want to eat him. And the thing is, ordinarily,
- 32:42Speaker 1: I would just be like, calm down. It's, you know,
- 32:47Speaker 1: she's not going to fucking just eat you, dude. But
- 32:51Speaker 1: when he expresses some concern at how she's looking at
- 32:55Speaker 1: him while saying she wants a snack, she does not
- 33:00Speaker 1: contest his assertions at all. That's the part that really
- 33:06Speaker 1: has got me preoccupied is there's no argument. coming from
- 33:14Speaker 1: her going, what eat you? No, I mean, that's not
- 33:18Speaker 1: what's going on here. She is, it feels tacitly admitting
- 33:25Speaker 1: that's what she's saying or thinking as you know what
- 33:29Speaker 1: I'm saying? I just felt for chopper on this one. And, um, it,
- 33:39Speaker 1: I'm really, really curious to see how this is going
- 33:43Speaker 1: to continue because the fact that mom is a maniac, well,
- 33:52Speaker 1: you know, the nature versus nurture thing. I'm curious where
- 33:57Speaker 1: Oda is going to fall on what kind of a
- 34:01Speaker 1: person she is. He says something also about how her hat, uh,
- 34:08Speaker 1: what is her hat's name? Bonaparte is, is not talking.
- 34:13Speaker 1: Its eyes are closed. And he says like, maybe her
- 34:18Speaker 1: hat has lost its memory too. And then mom says,
- 34:25Speaker 1: it's all coming back to me now. And of course
- 34:29Speaker 1: you're starting to be like, oh shit. But then she
- 34:33Speaker 1: says the flavor of that sweet soup melting in my
- 34:36Speaker 1: mouth is You're so cute and sweet, Chopper. I could
- 34:42Speaker 1: just eat you up. And she's literally like salivating when
- 34:48Speaker 1: she says this. I'm just concerned. That's all it is. Like, what? What?
- 34:58Speaker 1: What are we doing? I really just. I want to
- 35:04Speaker 1: be able to dismiss this and I just don't think
- 35:06Speaker 1: that I can. So then we have a weird thing.
- 35:12Speaker 1: So Momo is practicing with his sword. Well, I guess
- 35:16Speaker 1: it's like a staff. It's he's got the, um, what
- 35:22Speaker 1: do you call it? It looks like a practice sword,
- 35:25Speaker 1: but he's practicing and he keeps yelling the word Tsunachi.
- 35:33Speaker 1: And when Momo, Tomo asks what the word is he
- 35:39Speaker 1: says it's a word that fills you with energy which
- 35:44Speaker 1: she proceeds to yell a bunch of times and it's
- 35:46Speaker 1: like oh hey it's working I'm totally full of energy
- 35:50Speaker 1: but then we get interrupted here with what's her face
- 35:58Speaker 1: saying where did you learn such a word and I
- 36:03Speaker 1: don't know what to think of this at all. It's Kiku, right? Kiku. Oh, Florian, yes. Okay, good.
- 36:13Speaker 1: She has such a reaction. He says it's what they
- 36:17Speaker 1: yell in sword fights overseas, and she looks like pissed.
- 36:21Speaker 1: And he says that Zoro taught it to him. It's
- 36:25Speaker 1: a good luck word to uplift your spirit when your
- 36:27Speaker 1: courage falters. And she says, then I forbid you to
- 36:34Speaker 1: say it, which was a sort of a weird, I
- 36:37Speaker 1: don't know if this is like significant at all, but
- 36:40Speaker 1: the way that she says, then I forbid you almost
- 36:43Speaker 1: is like, well, it's the fact that Zorro is the
- 36:47Speaker 1: one who taught you the word that proves that the
- 36:50Speaker 1: word is like a problem. But then she goes on
- 36:55Speaker 1: because he's just like, well, why? And she says, perhaps
- 36:58Speaker 1: it's merely a coincidence, but the same word, was once
- 37:01Speaker 1: used in an old Kuri dialect. It's not an appropriate
- 37:06Speaker 1: thing for a person of your standing to say. And
- 37:13Speaker 1: they both protest. And Kiku is just like, no means no.
- 37:18Speaker 1: And I'm like, that's not really what that phrase means.
- 37:22Speaker 1: I can't imagine what's happening here. Like, I'm trying to
- 37:29Speaker 1: come up with a word that I could think of.
- 37:33Speaker 1: That's like a similarly seen as a low class thing
- 37:39Speaker 1: to say, but is used in fighting commonly, you know,
- 37:43Speaker 1: and I can't really think of anything, but it was
- 37:47Speaker 1: just such a weird combination of her on the one
- 37:50Speaker 1: hand acting like, Oh, it's because there's like a different
- 37:53Speaker 1: translation of that word, which she doesn't say what it
- 37:57Speaker 1: means to, in that language either, by the way, she
- 38:02Speaker 1: just says it's not appropriate, but also the way that
- 38:07Speaker 1: she's like, well, if Zorro taught it to you, it's,
- 38:11Speaker 1: it seems almost like that dude is a bad influence.
- 38:16Speaker 1: And if he's the one who taught it to you,
- 38:19Speaker 1: it makes sense that he would be saying something that's
- 38:22Speaker 1: so inappropriate that you don't want to follow in his footsteps.
- 38:28Speaker 1: That's the way I'm interpreting it. But again, we are
- 38:32Speaker 1: not given anything specific about what it means. And I
- 38:36Speaker 1: am really curious because the, like, I'm wondering if it's
- 38:43Speaker 1: something that is, if it's just a class thing or
- 38:49Speaker 1: if she has her own baggage surrounding it specifically, if
- 38:54Speaker 1: it's a different thing where it's like, it doesn't even
- 38:57Speaker 1: mean something that bad to most people. It's just that
- 39:00Speaker 1: she has a history related to that word and she
- 39:05Speaker 1: takes it particularly personally. So yeah, just kind of got
- 39:10Speaker 1: my eye out to, to see what all materializes from this.
- 39:16Speaker 1: But that's pretty much, we like are, you know, continuing
- 39:22Speaker 1: on the way to this prison and the whole thought,
- 39:26Speaker 1: here is we're going to take Big Mom, who is
- 39:32Speaker 1: super powerful, to the prison where Luffy is being held.
- 39:38Speaker 1: And while she does not remember who she is, we
- 39:42Speaker 1: are going to utilize her to break Luffy out of
- 39:47Speaker 1: the prison. Honestly, this is like, to me, a pretty
- 39:53Speaker 1: solid plan. But I am concerned about the way in
- 40:01Speaker 1: which they are choosing to proceed. Because the concern that
- 40:07Speaker 1: I have is just how they're not telling mom that's
- 40:12Speaker 1: what their goal is. They're just really pretending to. that
- 40:17Speaker 1: they're bringing her somewhere where there's going to be more
- 40:20Speaker 1: of this food that she likes. And they're, they're just
- 40:23Speaker 1: not being honest with her about how they need her
- 40:28Speaker 1: help to get their friend out of prison. And I'm
- 40:34Speaker 1: not really sure why not. I'm worried that maybe it's
- 40:38Speaker 1: that they think if we say Luffy's name, it'll somehow
- 40:41Speaker 1: like joggle her memory, you know? Um, but, yeah, they're
- 40:49Speaker 1: looking at this map and they're, you know, she's saying,
- 40:54Speaker 1: where's Udon on this map? Because again, she wants to
- 40:58Speaker 1: eat the food that's at Udon. And we're heading for
- 41:02Speaker 1: the labor camp, which is here. And this is when,
- 41:08Speaker 1: oh my God, I can't remember. I'm going all over
- 41:12Speaker 1: the place with all these different names, but The flower
- 41:17Speaker 1: capital is at the foot of this mountain. Its prosperity
- 41:20Speaker 1: is built upon the backs of the common people. And
- 41:25Speaker 1: the work of the wicked Orochi. And both Momo and
- 41:32Speaker 1: Tomo both keep psyching themselves up and yelling this word
- 41:39Speaker 1: or starting to yell it that they were just told
- 41:41Speaker 1: they are not allowed to say anymore. Uh, so evidently
- 41:46Speaker 1: that's going to be a whole thing now for reasons.
- 41:48Speaker 1: I'm surprised that they don't push a little bit more
- 41:50Speaker 1: and ask exactly what the problem is. Um, so the
- 41:56Speaker 1: region of Hakumai is located directly South of the land
- 42:00Speaker 1: of Wano in, uh, and where we plan to attack,
- 42:04Speaker 1: we're going to need allies from across the country. That's
- 42:08Speaker 1: how we'll defeat Kaido. And, uh, they are agreeing that like, yeah,
- 42:16Speaker 1: we need allies, but first we have to, you know,
- 42:20Speaker 1: get Luffy out. And this is when mom is like, well,
- 42:22Speaker 1: this is, I need a snack even more than before
- 42:25Speaker 1: seeing how far away Udon looks on that map. So, uh,
- 42:31Speaker 1: I'm just going to have my eye on them and
- 42:35Speaker 1: the way they proceed because it's, it's odd. They're talking
- 42:39Speaker 1: about rescuing Luffy in front of her. They're not like,
- 42:43Speaker 1: whispering behind their hands. It's, it's not exactly like they're
- 42:47Speaker 1: keeping it secret. They're just treating mom as if she
- 42:53Speaker 1: is a child, like, and that she won't put two
- 42:56Speaker 1: and two together about what they're talking about and where
- 43:01Speaker 1: they're heading. And so far that does seem to be
- 43:07Speaker 1: what's she's capable of. Like mom does not seem to
- 43:10Speaker 1: have been putting two and two together. which is part
- 43:15Speaker 1: of what sort of like losing your memory of who
- 43:21Speaker 1: you are. I don't really know. And obviously what I'm
- 43:26Speaker 1: about to say here has no bearing on what's going
- 43:29Speaker 1: on in one piece necessarily, because this is detached entirely
- 43:34Speaker 1: from reality. But I am curious about amnesia and, You know,
- 43:40Speaker 1: there are cases where people, like, folks will have strokes
- 43:44Speaker 1: and stuff where they don't know how to read all
- 43:48Speaker 1: of a sudden. Or they lose motor function that they
- 43:52Speaker 1: used to have. And her not remembering who she is,
- 43:58Speaker 1: but also seemingly being, like, almost childlike in the way
- 44:01Speaker 1: that she is interacting with the world is interesting. And is... Honestly,
- 44:10Speaker 1: in a bizarre way, not even really that far off
- 44:13Speaker 1: what she was like when she did remember who she was.
- 44:18Speaker 1: Because she was handled a lot like a child that
- 44:25Speaker 1: we have to appease before she has a tantrum. So
- 44:29Speaker 1: it actually is probably pretty in line with her personality
- 44:36Speaker 1: overall that she behaved this way. Because she was just
- 44:42Speaker 1: demanding things and getting them. You know, that was like
- 44:46Speaker 1: the way that she operated pretty much from childhood. So
- 44:51Speaker 1: I guess this really isn't that far off. Okay, so
- 44:59Speaker 1: we go over to Luffy at this point. And you know,
- 45:04Speaker 1: we're doing this thing where we're breaking up these blocks
- 45:07Speaker 1: of stone and he is doing unimaginable shit with this giant, like,
- 45:15Speaker 1: I don't know, this tool that he's got that he's
- 45:17Speaker 1: able to lift that is, it's later mentioned the sea
- 45:27Speaker 1: prism stone handcuffs should just leave him enough strength to work. But,
- 45:35Speaker 1: should not allow him to do what it is that
- 45:38Speaker 1: he is doing. And as one of the guards puts it,
- 45:42Speaker 1: eventually he shouldn't be any stronger than a normal schmuck,
- 45:48Speaker 1: which leads to the guy that he just trounced going.
- 45:51Speaker 1: So are you saying that I'm weaker than the average schmuck?
- 45:55Speaker 1: And he's like, no, no, no, that's not what I meant.
- 45:58Speaker 1: But yeah, it's a, Luffy is treating this as training.
- 46:05Speaker 1: And seeing the fact that he is being restrained by
- 46:09Speaker 1: these handcuffs as like a really great way of holding
- 46:16Speaker 1: his power back so that he is forced to use
- 46:19Speaker 1: his actual bodily strength only, which of course is apparently
- 46:27Speaker 1: more than any other human somehow. I don't really know how... What's...
- 46:35Speaker 1: sort of tough for me is because the show doesn't
- 46:42Speaker 1: really seem to want to deal with the reality of
- 46:46Speaker 1: like there. And by they, I mean the straw hats
- 46:50Speaker 1: in general, but Luffy, especially doesn't want to deal with
- 46:53Speaker 1: like the training as much. It becomes unclear why Luffy
- 47:00Speaker 1: is able to do things that other people approximately are
- 47:03Speaker 1: like apparently not able to do other than, well, that's
- 47:07Speaker 1: how determined he is. He's just Luffy and he just believes.
- 47:13Speaker 1: And so he pushes himself and he succeeds. And I
- 47:20Speaker 1: just don't, I don't personally feel like that's really enough. I,
- 47:26Speaker 1: I don't know. I think maybe that's just a me
- 47:30Speaker 1: issue and that, probably for most people watching this, that's
- 47:36Speaker 1: the point for them is the fact that like, well,
- 47:38Speaker 1: Luffy is just special and he's just always capable of
- 47:42Speaker 1: more than anyone because that's the, the whole thing with
- 47:46Speaker 1: him is, is, and who he is, is that he
- 47:50Speaker 1: is abnormal, honestly, in a lot of ways. But most
- 47:56Speaker 1: of the time I can just put it down to like,
- 47:59Speaker 1: I'm headstrong and, I have really good, talented allies that
- 48:03Speaker 1: I am able to depend on, and they can kind
- 48:05Speaker 1: of pick up the slack for me. And I have
- 48:09Speaker 1: devil fruit powers, which is key. And the fact that
- 48:15Speaker 1: this is supposed to be without the devil fruit powers
- 48:18Speaker 1: is what I keep getting kind of hung up on,
- 48:20Speaker 1: because if there is some kind of other huge strength
- 48:24Speaker 1: that he is able to access in another way that
- 48:27Speaker 1: is separate from his powers... I really would like to
- 48:30Speaker 1: just know what that is. And I don't feel like
- 48:33Speaker 1: that's asking all that much. It doesn't feel like everybody's
- 48:38Speaker 1: sort of puzzling over it in these episodes and how
- 48:42Speaker 1: he could, how it could be, but not in a
- 48:44Speaker 1: way that leads me to think we're going to actually
- 48:48Speaker 1: answer that question. It's all in a way that is
- 48:51Speaker 1: just sort of look at how he astonishes everyone around him. And,
- 48:57Speaker 1: That's really the only reason that we're sort of going, wait,
- 49:00Speaker 1: how was he able to do that, is simply to
- 49:03Speaker 1: establish that it's remarkable what he's capable of, and he
- 49:09Speaker 1: shouldn't be capable of it, and everybody is super impressed.
- 49:13Speaker 1: But I want to know why he actually can lift
- 49:17Speaker 1: something that like a regular person shouldn't be able to
- 49:20Speaker 1: lift when he's not using and like you know i
- 49:24Speaker 1: wouldn't mind a little bit more in this department it
- 49:28Speaker 1: just it's it turns into something else once you decide
- 49:31Speaker 1: to take his devil fruit powers out of the equation
- 49:33Speaker 1: some um Seraphim says, yeah, Oda is famous for avoiding
- 49:38Speaker 1: the fuck out of the usual Shonen training arc, which
- 49:41Speaker 1: is usually brought up as a plus for One Piece,
- 49:43Speaker 1: given how overused that trope can be in this kind
- 49:45Speaker 1: of anime. And that, yeah, that's what you guys have
- 49:47Speaker 1: mentioned before. And that this is like something, especially that
- 49:52Speaker 1: in Dragon Ball is like, there's too much focus put on.
- 49:57Speaker 1: And I think maybe that's sort of the issue is
- 50:00Speaker 1: that like, I don't have the exposure to those. And
- 50:04Speaker 1: so to me, It just feels like I don't want
- 50:07Speaker 1: to explain. It just, it feels almost lazy, you know,
- 50:12Speaker 1: but if you do, then like, if you do have
- 50:17Speaker 1: exposure to all of that, and maybe this is exactly
- 50:21Speaker 1: what you want to see. It just, I, I don't,
- 50:24Speaker 1: I don't have that kind of frame of reference. And
- 50:26Speaker 1: it just feels like we've simply decided that he's Spider-Man,
- 50:32Speaker 1: but I, the whole way that he was Spider-Man was
- 50:35Speaker 1: this devil fruit power. So how are we deleting that?
- 50:37Speaker 1: And we're still, you know, he even mentions that he
- 50:39Speaker 1: can't use his hockey because of these restraints. So I just,
- 50:46Speaker 1: I don't know. I keep kind of coming up against this,
- 50:48Speaker 1: this feeling of like, I don't, I, I know that
- 50:53Speaker 1: I'm supposed to just be like, yeah, go Luffy, you
- 50:55Speaker 1: show him and be happy that he's impressing everybody and
- 50:59Speaker 1: is so intimidating, intimidating. But, I kind of can't let
- 51:04Speaker 1: myself enjoy it because I just keep going. Yeah. How
- 51:07Speaker 1: does he do this? What is going on here? You know,
- 51:10Speaker 1: it just feels so hand wavy and like, ah, don't
- 51:17Speaker 1: worry about it. Just don't worry about it. It's he,
- 51:20Speaker 1: he just can. Okay. And I personally want more than that. I,
- 51:25Speaker 1: and I think that there are, ways to balance not
- 51:31Speaker 1: going too much into a training thing with explaining things
- 51:37Speaker 1: like this. I feel like there's got to be a
- 51:40Speaker 1: happy medium where you don't go too far down that
- 51:44Speaker 1: road and you don't make there be like a 20
- 51:47Speaker 1: episode training montage sequence, but you also just don't not
- 51:54Speaker 1: explain things. So that's my critique on this one. Um,
- 52:00Speaker 1: So anyway, this is when Hyogoro comes and is, you know,
- 52:07Speaker 1: he's getting all of these tickets from Luffy in order
- 52:10Speaker 1: to get these dumplings. And he's like, how could you
- 52:16Speaker 1: do this? Like, thank you so much for doing all
- 52:18Speaker 1: of this for me. And Luffy is like, oh, I'm
- 52:19Speaker 1: not doing it for you. I'm using this as an
- 52:22Speaker 1: opportunity to train because I got to get stronger so
- 52:25Speaker 1: that I can get out of here. And he's like, actually,
- 52:30Speaker 1: that's a really great attitude. I should do that too.
- 52:33Speaker 1: And he starts to like lift his pickaxe and, you know,
- 52:36Speaker 1: treating this like a workout, but immediately falls over. And
- 52:40Speaker 1: Luffy sees him and is just like, oh, bro, you
- 52:44Speaker 1: haven't had enough to eat. You can't work out on
- 52:46Speaker 1: an empty stomach. And he gives him all the tickets
- 52:49Speaker 1: and is like, go ahead and get something to eat.
- 52:53Speaker 1: And when Luffy gets up and turns around, He almost
- 52:59Speaker 1: gets spat on. And we've got a guy who is
- 53:04Speaker 1: Alpaca Man, according to the subtitles. There are times when
- 53:18Speaker 1: I'm covering things where I just feel like the kismet
- 53:24Speaker 1: of what I'm covering and what I'm doing in my
- 53:27Speaker 1: personal life is so wildly overlapping that I'm like, is
- 53:31Speaker 1: somebody doing this on purpose? So yesterday, there's a YouTube
- 53:37Speaker 1: channel called Smosh, and their whole thing is mostly doing
- 53:42Speaker 1: comedy skits and shorts and whatnot. But the thing that
- 53:45Speaker 1: I tend to watch from them are Reddit stories. And
- 53:51Speaker 1: one of the ones that I was listening to yesterday
- 53:54Speaker 1: was a Reddit story about Am I the asshole for
- 53:59Speaker 1: holding the door shut when my roommate tried to get
- 54:01Speaker 1: in the house after she was spit on by a camel?
- 54:05Speaker 1: And the story is essentially that it smelled so horrific
- 54:09Speaker 1: that she almost vomited on the spot just from her
- 54:12Speaker 1: roommate being on the front porch and was instantly like,
- 54:16Speaker 1: you are not bringing that smell into the house. Absolutely not.
- 54:20Speaker 1: And I learned through this that the Camel spit is
- 54:28Speaker 1: not saliva. It is the regurgitated, like cud, like cow's chew.
- 54:37Speaker 1: So when they spit on you, it's heavily tainted with vomit, essentially,
- 54:43Speaker 1: which I did not know. Camel spitting is from cartoons,
- 54:51Speaker 1: like a thing, you know, I've known as a little kid.
- 54:53Speaker 1: It's in Aladdin all over the place. But nobody has
- 54:56Speaker 1: ever really emphasized how disgusting it is for understandable reasons.
- 55:02Speaker 1: And according to somebody who was in the comments of
- 55:06Speaker 1: this post, they were like, I am not defending the OP,
- 55:10Speaker 1: but I will say that I have smelled camel spit
- 55:12Speaker 1: and it smells like a, I think they said a
- 55:18Speaker 1: New York City restaurant dumpster on a hot day. Something
- 55:23Speaker 1: like that, where they were just like, it is so
- 55:26Speaker 1: fucking gross. So when Alpaca Man appears and his weapon
- 55:32Speaker 1: of choice is spitting, all I could think about was
- 55:36Speaker 1: just like how disgusting I have since learned. And I
- 55:40Speaker 1: have to assume with alpacas, if they spit, that it's
- 55:43Speaker 1: probably like a similar thing, you know? And it's like
- 55:46Speaker 1: spraying all over the place and the spit itself is
- 55:51Speaker 1: is yellowish in the animation. And Luffy even says it stinks.
- 55:58Speaker 1: So I just can't get over the fact I literally
- 56:01Speaker 1: listened to this Smosh story at midnight last night and
- 56:06Speaker 1: then watched this episode today. And I was just like,
- 56:09Speaker 1: what are the fucking odds of this? It's just wild.
- 56:13Speaker 1: But yeah, so that's some information for all of you
- 56:16Speaker 1: to know. So if somebody complains about having been spit
- 56:18Speaker 1: on by a camel or almost having been That's serious.
- 56:22Speaker 1: And don't laugh at them or act like they're being precious.
- 56:24Speaker 1: That's like just not wanting to be vomited on, essentially.
- 56:32Speaker 1: So this old man, he goes and gets a bunch
- 56:38Speaker 1: of these dumplings. And it's such a weird sequence of events.
- 56:43Speaker 1: So he has all of these tickets and he gets
- 56:49Speaker 1: like intercepted. By. Spider-Man. I know I can't. I can't.
- 56:57Speaker 1: His name is like. Difogo or something. But. He's about
- 57:03Speaker 1: to eat all of the dumplings. That are in this bowl.
- 57:05Speaker 1: And he's got a bunch of them piled up. And
- 57:09Speaker 1: this guy says. You want to share some of those
- 57:11Speaker 1: with me? Looks like you're having a feast over there.
- 57:17Speaker 1: And I'm thinking. Maybe he's more meant to be like a. Oh, yeah.
- 57:22Speaker 1: Lena in the chat says scorpion guy is the worst.
- 57:25Speaker 1: And I'm seeing his hair. And that was when I
- 57:27Speaker 1: was like, oh, maybe it's not a spider. It's a scorpion.
- 57:31Speaker 1: Because the hair is like kind of up and coming
- 57:34Speaker 1: up from the back of his head like the stinger.
- 57:37Speaker 1: So what we get here is that this dude is
- 57:41Speaker 1: essentially like, I know that you are old and frail
- 57:48Speaker 1: and that there is no reason way in hell that
- 57:52Speaker 1: you earned all of those dumplings that I am looking
- 57:55Speaker 1: at and just decides to like stomp this dude in
- 58:02Speaker 1: front of everybody. And they, the other prisoners try and
- 58:08Speaker 1: like come to his defense. They, you know, it's not
- 58:11Speaker 1: like they're just letting it happen. But this guy is
- 58:15Speaker 1: obviously some sort of minion who's in charge of things.
- 58:18Speaker 1: And they don't want that smoke either. And what happens
- 58:24Speaker 1: is that this guy eventually starts to make a speech
- 58:27Speaker 1: about how you are earning your dumplings fair and square.
- 58:35Speaker 1: But he didn't earn his. And do you think it's fair?
- 58:41Speaker 1: for him to get more than any of you are
- 58:44Speaker 1: getting because somebody decided to give it to him, but
- 58:49Speaker 1: he didn't earn it. And really it's, it's just the
- 58:53Speaker 1: talking points of like fucking right wingers, you know, just
- 58:58Speaker 1: there they're gaming the system and you deserve more. And
- 59:02Speaker 1: so it's not that I, the person who is actively
- 59:06Speaker 1: enslaving you am the problem it is that this person
- 59:10Speaker 1: who wants to eat enough to live is and what's
- 59:14Speaker 1: sort of funny as well is the reason that he
- 59:21Speaker 1: wants to eat more is so that he can work
- 59:23Speaker 1: harder because he's like trying to emulate Luffy training to
- 59:28Speaker 1: get out of here So it's really like this dude
- 59:33Speaker 1: is actually wanting to increase his productivity. That's the reason
- 59:37Speaker 1: that he wants to do more and eat more. But
- 59:42Speaker 1: this guy is still managing to paint it as like,
- 59:45Speaker 1: he's just trying to get one over on you. He's
- 59:47Speaker 1: just trying to make sure that you don't get your
- 59:50Speaker 1: fair share because he'll have taken everything already. And the
- 59:56Speaker 1: way that like, it's just so Watching this kind of
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: thing and the rhetoric is so gross and so, you know,
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: he's trying to say, like, oh, you must have stolen tickets,
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: et cetera, et cetera. And meanwhile, the old man is
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: on the ground and the dumplings have been tossed and
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: he is grabbing them up out of the dirt and
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: still eating them and just saying, like, I am never
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: going to let these go to waste. after what Luffy
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: did for me, I'm going to make sure, you know, meanwhile,
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: alpaca man brings Luffy over here and shows him this
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: old man getting stomped. And it's just like, this is
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: what happens to the people that you try and help.
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: So don't bother because they're just going to be, you know,
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: and the, it's just, folks just don't learn about Luffy.
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: Like you're going to show that you're beating the shit
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: out of an old man. And you're thinking that's going
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: to make Luffy like back off is just so fun.
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: Have you ever even heard of him? Hello? Oh my God. Um,
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: so he goes over to start a fight with him,
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: but we first have to jump to the next episode where,
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: Because Raizo is undercover as a prison guard pretending to
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: be returning a key that the crab man dropped somewhere
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: or left. Like, you know, the whole thing is to
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: get him to open the box that he keeps the
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: keys in and whatnot. And I am... This crab guy... Look...
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: There's a lot of different animals that we have at
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: play here, but not all of them get like tons
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: and tons of puns. I don't know what it is
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: about some that is like, apparently it really inspires Oda.
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: And he's just like, oh, I am about to go
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: all in on the puns. Everybody hold on to your butts.
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: But like some folks, it's just very barely a little
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: joke here or there. And then others, it's all of
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: their dialogue. It's everything they fucking say. And the crab
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: man is, it's one thing after another. And even at
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: one point, he's like, he says something about, he just,
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: plod them away from me and didn't even try to
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: butter me up. Something like that, because you dip crab
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: in butter. I was just like, my God, how did
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: you push it? That, that's a real stretch, that one.
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: But I also can't really be mad at it because
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: it is, look, nobody's beating Brooke is the thing. Everybody
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: is going to pale. It's simply the way that Brooke delivers.
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: His delivery is like 80% of why the joke is
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: even funny. Um, But yeah, so Raizo is able to
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: get the keys away from him by tricking him into
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: opening this box. And then later on, he gets like
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: confronted by one of the other guards who is like,
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: I think is she, she's solitaire, right? She is like,
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: what the fuck? I can't believe that you got your,
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: the wool pulled over your eyes so easily. Like that
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: is so embarrassing. And he just keeps on, you know,
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: bowing and scraping and apologizing. Um, and let's see, I'm
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: trying to, oh, right. So that's going on there. And
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: then we have, uh, back to Luffy and he's having
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: this confrontation with Scorpion man and he kicks Scorpion man
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: in the face to get him off of the old man. And,
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: It's so weird because all of the guards begin chanting,
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: kill him, kill him to kill Luffy, which goes on
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: for such a long time. And it's a bizarre thing
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: where you guys have all the power. You don't have
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: to chant. You could just overwhelm him and do it. Eventually,
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: we get there. But the nature of how long it
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: takes for them to get a move on and begin
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: to take action after chanting. I'm just like, do you
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: guys just like the chanting? Is that it? Is that
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: what you're like enjoying about this? It's simply like chanting
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: is fun because it just takes them absolute ages. Luffy
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: is able to fight off a bunch of the guards,
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: but eventually we get an elephant man appearing who apparently shoots, sneezes, sorry,
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: sneezes cannonballs out of his trunk at Luffy. And, you know,
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: despite the fact that Luffy apparently still has superhuman strength,
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: he gets trounced. This hit really takes him down a
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: peg or two. I was kind of surprised at how
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: effective it is. I didn't think it was going to
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: do that much, but he is, goes flying and is
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: kind of wrecked after. And when he sits up, he's
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: just like, Jesus Christ. And that's when he is complaining
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: about the fact that he can't even use his hockey
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: or anything. This is when Queen shows up. And I
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: don't understand why the full title is Queen the Plague.
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: I don't know if this is something that I should
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: know or if it's something that will be revealed later
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: or what. But I just wanted to mention it because
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: I was sort of waiting for, you know, and I
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: don't know what this is. Maybe there's like a devil
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: fruit power related to like disease or something. I don't know.
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: But regardless, Queen's entire entrance, first of all, is very
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: much giving like Fury Road. It was super intense. And
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: Queen is, there's a point where I think the scorpion
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: man or the alpaca man says to Luffy, if you
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: may be Miss Queen's performance, I'll fucking kill you. Something
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: like that, which I found hilarious. And we get to
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: see Queen standing up and doing a whole, a literal
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: like song and dance with backup. And the song is
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: about how He's not going to lose any weight because
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: there's more of him to appreciate. I'm round as a ball,
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: but it's all muscle, y'all. Which you guys know that
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: I'm always going to be here for a fat character
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: who does not apologize for being fat. I just wish
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: they weren't always villains. That's the main thing. It's always
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: a villain, you know? It's like, oh, well, if it's
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: a woman who's fat and doesn't hate herself, she's delusional.
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: you know, like Alveda or this guy who's like, I
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: think probably you could say folks would call him delusional
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: as well. But I just really did enjoy this whole performance.
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: Queen is just so odd. And I'm looking forward to
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: seeing more of him and finding out exactly where the
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: name comes from. Everybody seems to really like him. They're
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: like fucking cheering for him as he comes in, like
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: Jerry Springer, you know, I'm telling you, these guards love chanting.
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: I think that's really what it's about is like that.
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: That's more fun for them than anything is just that
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: the chanting is the thing. So I think that that's it.
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: Making sure. Oh, my God. I forgot about the fact
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: after Queen finishes his song. somebody comes up to him
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: and it's just like, Hey, so there's a bunch of
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: bullshit that you need to deal with and tells him
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: all this bad news. And at one point they're like,
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: also Luffy's escaping. He's right there. And they point and
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: queen just goes, man, come on. And I left so hard.
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: He's just so frustrated. Oh, but yeah, that's the end
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: of that episode. All right. I have to wrap up. See,
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: I was so short in my last episode, but this
