- 0:00What's going on, everybody? And what's going on, folks?
- 0:03My name is David, and I'm your host, your host of this beautiful,
- 0:07legendary podcast, the Deconstructed Topic Podcast, where we grab a topic,
- 0:12and we kind of deconstruct it,
- 0:15the deconstructed way, and learn from something,
- 0:19and learn from whatever it is, because in my podcast, I got that motto,
- 0:23because when you listen to my podcast, when you listen to this episode,
- 0:27the previous ones and future episodes, you're going to get the sense that,
- 0:30you know what, I learned something.
- 0:32Because I always said, one of my motto is, saving a mind is saving a life.
- 0:37So we make it happen on this wonderful Deconstructing Topic podcast.
- 0:42Yeah, you know, and a lot of things that I do, again, talk about,
- 0:45it's always on a point of view so we can learn from different perspective.
- 0:50And it's always of my opinion. And I always tend to see things and hey let's
- 0:54just give a heads up on this episode we're actually gonna talk about.
- 0:59And sadly, it was a shooting that took place here in New York City in Queens.
- 1:05And I just want to touch bases a little bit because it is something that is
- 1:08disheartening. It is sad.
- 1:11I'm not one to put, you know, blame the, you know, put point fingers, basically.
- 1:17I apologize for getting a little bit twisted there.
- 1:20But I'm not here to be like, you know, it's because of this,
- 1:23because of that. You know, we could go on and on and on.
- 1:25But for some reason, what happened about a week and a half ago,
- 1:29there was a video, and it went viral.
- 1:32And that video actually shows a bunch of kids in a park, and then it looked
- 1:37like somebody was being assaulted.
- 1:38The next thing, someone pulls out a gun.
- 1:41Pop. A kid drops, sadly.
- 1:45And, well, let's just say that it kind of, you know, riled up people.
- 1:49When people was watching that video and hearing the news and seeing in the socials,
- 1:54kind of remind me of that situation years ago, back in 2018, if I'm not mistaken.
- 2:01The situation with the Alessandro Guzman Felix Feliz, sorry about that.
- 2:06And it's that situation when you see a video of a young kid being assaulted by somebody.
- 2:12You know, gang members and so on and so forth. And that kind of stoked the city
- 2:17to be like, damn, that could have been us. That could have been our kid.
- 2:20And it kind of the same situation, like what kind of person would do that?
- 2:24And not only that, but those who were involved around.
- 2:27So you already know, let's get on with the topic. And just a heads up on that
- 2:32situation, I am going to be touching a couple of things that are sensitive.
- 2:35So just keep that in mind. Once again, this is the legendary podcast of the
- 2:39Deconstructed Time Podcast.
- 2:41Please do me a favor. hit the follow subscribe whatever
- 2:44that you got to do show support hit the
- 2:47like button it's always the like button in some ways something that we
- 2:50small independent people tend to tell people if you're gonna spend some time
- 2:53listening to something please log onto your computer hit the like button whatever
- 2:57it is in whatever platform so sadly uh about a week and a half ago if I'm mistaken
- 3:03uh there was a kid by the name of Jaden Pierre and just to give you kind of like.
- 3:09Try my best to like kind of give you the visualization of the situation and
- 3:14this happened i believe it was on a thursday 6 p.m people you know i don't heard
- 3:18every conversation i mean every,
- 3:21body saying oh you know what these kids are doing in the park they have been
- 3:25this thing especially in the socials and and whether it's tiktok or snapchat
- 3:30or things of that nature where kids go online and then they start doing a gathering of 20,
- 3:3630 people start wilding out doing some crazy stuff.
- 3:39And sadly, you know, it's one of those things that just.
- 3:43When you have a bunch of people just with that energy
- 3:47something something good doesn't come
- 3:50out of those situation and what happened in this situation even
- 3:53though it started as a water gun fight in this park people doing their thing
- 3:58you know there's no really backstory to it and i don't think that there should
- 4:03be a backstory to what happened is that what you saw in the video was It's basically
- 4:09a bunch of kids just doing recording.
- 4:11You already know. And look, ever since the phone, we have lived in this society
- 4:16that when somebody, something is happening, like nobody steps up and everybody's
- 4:21doing it, just recording.
- 4:23And I could understand that people are going to be upset at those people and
- 4:28those kids that were there recording what was happening.
- 4:31And there was this one kid who was cornered, and that would be Jaden Pierre,
- 4:35who was cornered. And sadly, he was getting assaulted.
- 4:38By a couple of people. And then you see a young girl there with a water gun.
- 4:43So that's why some people might say that that could have been that person.
- 4:47But apparently what was happening is that this kid was getting assaulted.
- 4:51I've heard stories about kind of like a similar storyline to Alejandro Guzman
- 4:59from years ago is that people mistaken identity.
- 5:02One gang member thought, hey, this is the rival.
- 5:05I mean, I heard that story in regards to the situation.
- 5:08And sadly, what happened was that as this kid was getting assaulted,
- 5:13Jayden Pierre, kind of a taller kid.
- 5:17Hits him in the face, and the next thing, you hear a shot.
- 5:20Pow. And that shot led to a wound that hit the chest, and sadly,
- 5:25Jaden Peer passed away at 15.
- 5:27So it's stoking that kind of thing where people are upset. And people are upset,
- 5:32and I get it, and people are upset. Like, why?
- 5:34And you're almost a grown man in a situation where some people are going to
- 5:40start making the argument that he actually was pistol-whipped the kid, and the gun went off.
- 5:46But regardless of anything, I don't know what they're going to charge.
- 5:50Maybe it's like manslaughter, 25 to life, or they're going to make a case,
- 5:55you know, it was an accident, you know, but again, you got a gun in New York City.
- 5:59That's definitely going to do, definitely going to do time. So let's see,
- 6:02they did catch the perpetrator, in this case, Zahid Davis in Jamaica, if I'm not mistaken.
- 6:08And it's one of those situations that, again, it kind of stoked that little
- 6:14thing of, you know, calling out the mayor, Mandani, calling out the parents,
- 6:19calling out the people that was there and all this.
- 6:21And we could go on and on about situations like this.
- 6:24And it kind of breaks my heart that, again, I've been there on both sides of
- 6:29the fence in terms of being assaulted, jumped by, you know, multiple people.
- 6:34And I've seen it as well. So, you know, one of those things that people say,
- 6:38oh, but nobody jumped in, you know, so on.
- 6:41Again, I hate to just use this logic here, but we don't know the backstory that
- 6:46it led to that part there. You know what I'm saying?
- 6:49And again, it shouldn't be that his life of Jaden Pierce should have been lost at all.
- 6:55But I've been in these situations growing up, and I always tell people,
- 6:59look, listen, the only difference now is that now there's cell phones.
- 7:02Now these things are popping up in the internet.
- 7:05Have I been in a lot of scrums before? Absolutely.
- 7:09Absolutely. And I've been there on both sides. And again, when I say both sides,
- 7:13it's, you know, I got assaulted one time.
- 7:16Actually, a couple of times, you know, growing up in the hood, and I fought back.
- 7:22But sadly, you know These are things that happen in the hood Where you get a
- 7:27lot of A group of kids and then There's that adrenaline of something happening
- 7:31And then again, someone pulls something And in the case, they pull out a gun.
- 7:38And, again, people are going to be like, oh, just wondering,
- 7:40like, why nobody stepped up. Again, we don't know the situation or where that happened.
- 7:46Maybe these kids were afraid. Maybe they knew that the guy had a gun.
- 7:50Who knows? But it kind of reminds me, and, again, this is no one here in terms
- 7:57of this person. He did something wrong.
- 8:02And he's a man, 18 years old. So he's definitely going to be tried as an adult.
- 8:07But we're going back that you got this person who's having a gun who could have been anybody.
- 8:13My understanding in that, you know, the J.D. Imperial, it was a good kid.
- 8:17And he probably thought, just like many kids, and I've seen so many times that,
- 8:21you know, you got these kids that, my understanding, you know,
- 8:24they kind of lean towards being quiet and on the nerdy side or whatever it is.
- 8:30And then they want to hang out with the cool kids. And then sadly,
- 8:32the cool kids take advantage. Oh, look, look, look who's here.
- 8:36Oh, let's mess around with the person. Let's bully, you know, that leads to bullying.
- 8:41And then, you know, they saw videos in different angles, and you see how,
- 8:44for the most part, a lot of these kids, nobody did anything,
- 8:49even prior to the shooting.
- 8:51And one of the things that I always want to remind people, and I always want
- 8:54to remind people, is that we live, when we live in a hood, we always live with
- 8:59that thing and that fear that it's always implemented in our mind,
- 9:03is that snitches get stitches, basically.
- 9:07And yes, you know, one is seeing the video.
- 9:10And again, I'm not going to put a link to it at all because it's graphic and it's saddening.
- 9:17And you see all these kids laughing, recording. And absolutely.
- 9:22For those kids, they got to go home. And those parents there got to kind of
- 9:27say to these kids, what happened?
- 9:31How can we intervene? How can you kind of intervene on these things?
- 9:34Because that's what happened in our hood and white poverty and crime is always
- 9:38a thing, especially in crime.
- 9:40It's because, sadly, we live in these mind with that mindset of snitches get snitches.
- 9:46And if you say something or, you know, God forbid that somebody did step up,
- 9:52and we were hoping, and, you know, sadly, I'm pretty sure people were hoping
- 9:55that people would step up.
- 9:56Hey, listen, you are numbering the perpetrator.
- 10:00But one would think that if people are so,
- 10:04you know some in the crowd if they knew that he had a gun and
- 10:07prior to the shooting they probably did not want to step up and maybe they'll
- 10:10get it too because if that's one
- 10:13thing that we have learned in life when young
- 10:17people tend to have guns yeah a lot of times it's never a good thing and I'm
- 10:22not trying to defend people that are older I'm just saying that that that a
- 10:26lot of times and I've been there where we just don't think we don't we just
- 10:31don't react we just want to grab that That's something pound.
- 10:34And many of the lives of many people in the hood just drop.
- 10:40Out of pure emotions. And that's one of those situations that,
- 10:44you know, for Jaden Peer and Bledson's, you know, condolence to him and his family.
- 10:48It kind of stoked that thing. And sometimes I always say, like,
- 10:52listen, the issue has to be more than just what happened.
- 10:56And one of the things that I've always have mentioned is that domestic violence
- 10:59amongst black, you know, in the black community amongst women,
- 11:03it's 30, 35 percent more than any other household.
- 11:08So if many of these kids, they grow up in these households where domestic violence
- 11:14is a thing, if they see a father assaulting the woman,
- 11:18which is most likely based on the stats, then what respect are you going to have for other people?
- 11:24If they're going to see that, oh, look, my dad doesn't have respect for my mom,
- 11:28or just seeing your mother suffer, and then you just carry that,
- 11:32like, you know what, I don't give a, you know, type of deal.
- 11:35And then when somebody gets you a little upset even if it's something simple
- 11:39hey listen hey you got a little booger there you know and then you just.
- 11:46Pull out and then boom. You understand?
- 11:49All because these emotions that is happening in your household.
- 11:52One of the other things too, and which a lot of people mention,
- 11:55if you look at, and when they caught, they caught Zaire.
- 12:00And if you look at the video, his family, screaming, you're a dead man.
- 12:04You're a dead man. And I hate that things like that happen in our neighborhood
- 12:09because it becomes that thing that it's a never-ending cycle of kind of revenge killing in a sense.
- 12:15Ta, ta, ta, ta, ta, ta.
- 12:18And it's sad that that happens, but it definitely happens in our hood.
- 12:22And it's just, again, a never-ending cycle.
- 12:24One of the things that you start to realize is like, okay, what's going on?
- 12:29And then prior to that, when they had the vigil and a little protest,
- 12:35a little gathering, if you look at, for the most part, who was there,
- 12:39a lot of black people, black activists and so on and so forth.
- 12:43What you're not going to see is some of these white activists who,
- 12:47you know, claim to be allies of our communities, of our issues.
- 12:51And I want to remind people, those certain people that claim to be allies of
- 12:56our communities, they're there for George Floyd, but they ain't going to be there for Jaden Pierre.
- 13:02And that's the truth. And that's always been a thing.
- 13:05And this is why I always said and point these things out, because sadly,
- 13:10these are the people that we put in power.
- 13:12They want to be allies. They want to be selective allies. So I just want to throw that out there.
- 13:19We could definitely do better. Again, if those kids, even not just a perpetrator,
- 13:23but if everyone there who is of color and where 30%, whether it's Latinos and black,
- 13:30where 30%, 40% of women are victims of domestic violence,
- 13:36half of that crowd, sadly, probably is running on emotions that they don't even understand.
- 13:40And they go out to these places and they see this violence and for them it's like regular.
- 13:46And I see people, you know, especially people of the elders Around my age and
- 13:51a little bit younger But they say, oh, you know, times are crazy These kids,
- 13:54you know, I always said Things always have happened,
- 13:58During our lifetime The only difference is that they got the cell phone thing going on,
- 14:02So praise out there to Jaden Pierre and those people And hopefully,
- 14:06just like the Leandro Guzman Which I would love to make I definitely would make
- 14:11a podcast in regards to that Because that,
- 14:13it took a while I mean, this city in itself, and it took a while,
- 14:17and I'm just thinking here, how can we find healing?
- 14:21You know what I mean? How can we find that common thing where we could bond for once and for all?
- 14:26We could definitely bond and work
- 14:28out differences and help each other out because we only have each other.
- 14:34If you're a parent out there going out there, oh, no, my kid is good.
- 14:37You know, they're a good kid. And, hey, listen, every kid, everybody's good
- 14:41until something happens. You know what I mean?
- 14:45But anyways, this is the Deconstructed Topic Podcast. If you do not know about
- 14:50the situation with Jaden Pierre, again, the video is graphic and it's sad and it's heartbreaking.
- 14:56Again, it's one of those things that people that did watch it,
- 14:59that people put it out there in the social.
- 15:01It's a situation where you'd be like, okay It could have been avoided Now,
- 15:06sadly, people are using politics They start pointing fingers at the city The
- 15:11mayor, congresspeople This and that And I'm like, relax,
- 15:15We're all going to sit down one day or another And have these conversations
- 15:20We're all going to have these conversations,
- 15:23But let's take care of whatever we need to take care The kid has been a man,
- 15:2818 years old Said Debra has been apprehended, so let justice be that thing for once.
- 15:35Just that Leandro Guzman situation, they threw the book at, I think,
- 15:4110-plus people, if I'm not mistaken, because sadly, in that night,
- 15:45when Guzman died, they were aiming for somebody. It could have been anybody.
- 15:50In the situation with Jaden Pierre, one can make that argument the same. Somebody.
- 15:57To be gone somewhere or somehow in the
- 16:00scrum of all these emotions and these things
- 16:03that it started as a simple fun into something
- 16:07devastating as a fatal shooting but anyways make it happen hope you enjoy my
- 16:11podcast hit the like subscribe feel free to comment i'm out there once again
- 16:16a praise to the pf family and all this and it'll press to anybody who has been
- 16:21victim and have been able to survive those situations.
- 16:25And if you're out there and you happen to be a young person with a gun,
- 16:30hey, listen, think about life.
- 16:31Think about your life. Think about the other person's life. Think about everybody's life.
- 16:36Anyways, let's make it happen. Take care. I'm out of here. Peace.
- 16:40I'm out. I'll have the kid. Peace.
