Transcript
- 0:04Speaker 1: Five time All Star, two time World Series champ, Joe
- 0:06Speaker 1: Carter is with us. Can you recite the call from
- 0:09Speaker 1: nineteen ninety three? I mean, this is super irrelevant. Which
- 0:12Speaker 1: worst home runner? The home run? The home run, the
- 0:16Speaker 1: home run?
- 0:16Speaker 2: Can you recite the call that happened at eleven thirty
- 0:21Speaker 2: nine pm? Yeah, on ten twenty three. Let me see
- 0:25Speaker 2: if I can remember that. Okay, Well, Joe has had
- 0:28Speaker 2: his moments to two pitch.
- 0:33Speaker 3: Swinging about let Field way back. The Blue Jays win it.
- 0:37Speaker 3: The Blue Jays are World Series champions.
- 0:39Speaker 2: As Joe Carter, here's a three run home run in
- 0:42Speaker 2: the bottom of the ninety and the Blue Jays have
- 0:45Speaker 2: repeated as World Series champions. Judge them all, Joe, You'll
- 0:49Speaker 2: never hit a bigger home run in your life.
- 0:52Speaker 3: How did I do? That? Was amazing? Pretty good you
- 0:56Speaker 3: gave me. Right now thinking about.
- 0:58Speaker 1: It, you know, I really wanted to get that kind
- 1:01Speaker 1: of tea up because Jay's fans are like, could this
- 1:05Speaker 1: be the moment this year? Could we get one of
- 1:08Speaker 1: those signature calls again for the first time in.
- 1:10Speaker 3: A long time.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Well, I want them to win the World Series. They
- 1:14Speaker 2: have my permission to win it. They just can't hit
- 1:17Speaker 2: a home run to win the World Series. They can't
- 1:19Speaker 2: walk off to walk off World Series. Home want to
- 1:21Speaker 2: end the World Series, That's the only thing I'm asking.
- 1:24Speaker 2: But they can win the World Series. And you know
- 1:26Speaker 2: what this this I've said the last couple of years
- 1:29Speaker 2: that this could be the year.
- 1:30Speaker 3: But I've been wrong in all those years.
- 1:32Speaker 2: But you know what, this, Maybe it could be because
- 1:35Speaker 2: they're playing good baseball right now.
- 1:37Speaker 3: Joe.
- 1:37Speaker 4: I got a two part question for you, since you
- 1:39Speaker 4: talked about the home run that how many people a
- 1:42Speaker 4: day come up to you when you're in Toronto and
- 1:45Speaker 4: thank you for that home run? Just a number?
- 1:49Speaker 2: Okay, here's here's the kicker. I go back to Toronto
- 1:53Speaker 2: maybe once or twice a month, especially during the summer,
- 1:58Speaker 2: doing appearances there for different companies. I walked to the ballpark,
- 2:05Speaker 2: No one even notices me. So so I'm walking in
- 2:09Speaker 2: with the fans, so have Carter jerseys on and everything,
- 2:12Speaker 2: and I'm just walking right.
- 2:13Speaker 3: Too old, Joe, too, Yeah, yeah, I know, too old.
- 2:16Speaker 2: So there is an age discrepancy in that situation. But
- 2:21Speaker 2: if I'm around someone for an appearance, no, every single
- 2:25Speaker 2: person will tell me exactly where they were and to
- 2:28Speaker 2: this day. I still don't realize how the sky Dome
- 2:31Speaker 2: hailed what seven hundred and eighty five thousand people. You know,
- 2:36Speaker 2: that had to be a major League record for one
- 2:38Speaker 2: game because everybody was at that game. But I've always
- 2:42Speaker 2: said it is a great memory to have, and I'm
- 2:45Speaker 2: always glad to talk about it.
- 2:48Speaker 4: Well, Joe, you know what, this ain't one of the guys,
- 2:51Speaker 4: all right.
- 2:51Speaker 3: I was.
- 2:53Speaker 4: I was a Phillies fan. I was in my prime
- 2:56Speaker 4: of baseball, and you oh it for me, not mix
- 3:01Speaker 4: what is perfect, You blew.
- 3:04Speaker 3: It for me.
- 3:04Speaker 4: So today's the day that you hear somebody that says, Joe,
- 3:08Speaker 4: I wish it was a foul ball.
- 3:12Speaker 2: But okay, but but here's a thing. How many times
- 3:16Speaker 2: have you had a chance to witness that? I mean,
- 3:20Speaker 2: nineteen sixty. I'm sure you you were not born. I
- 3:23Speaker 2: was born in nineteen sixty. Okay, so that was the
- 3:26Speaker 2: year I was born. So you got a chance to
- 3:29Speaker 2: tell all your kids, your grandkids. Hey, I got a
- 3:32Speaker 2: chance to see that. Even though I hated it, and
- 3:35Speaker 2: I know Philadelphia fans, they hated me for a very
- 3:37Speaker 2: long time until I went down there and played in
- 3:41Speaker 2: a few of Doctor Jay's golf tournaments at Ironomic, and
- 3:45Speaker 2: they loved me because they see what a nice, personable
- 3:49Speaker 2: guy that I am. I mean, me and the Philly
- 3:52Speaker 2: fanatic we go way back. We've had some great times together.
- 3:56Speaker 2: I absolutely love Philadelphia. Here's the thing that you guys
- 4:00Speaker 2: probably don't know. My first hit Steve Carlton, Philadelphia. Wow,
- 4:07Speaker 2: my one thousand hit Philadelphia so far you Jose DeJesus.
- 4:13Speaker 2: My two thousand hit Philadelphia, Mark Lyder go figure. And
- 4:18Speaker 2: I'll only play what about maybe twenty games in Philadelphia
- 4:22Speaker 2: and all those wow, all those things happen, and uh,
- 4:26Speaker 2: you know, Philly, City of brotherly love, Thank you so much.
- 4:32Speaker 3: Is that the highest you ever jumped? Oh no, I
- 4:34Speaker 3: could dunk a basketball, run around the bases, and you're
- 4:37Speaker 3: doing the whole thing. Yeah. And the thing is aj well,
- 4:40Speaker 3: first of all, did you just black out and you
- 4:42Speaker 3: don't even know remember what you did? Oh no? Oh no?
- 4:45Speaker 2: I remembered every single step because first of all, I
- 4:50Speaker 2: was waiting for a breaking ball, because he threw me
- 4:52Speaker 2: a breaking ball to pitch before and I asked Mitch,
- 4:55Speaker 2: I said, Mitch, did you see the way I swung
- 4:58Speaker 2: the breaking ball? He goes, yeah, I said, why and
- 5:00Speaker 2: you threw me I'm another breaking ball. He said, Well,
- 5:02Speaker 2: my report was, once I got two strikes on you,
- 5:05Speaker 2: I was gonna throw you a high fastball up in
- 5:07Speaker 2: the way and let you hit a lazy flyball to
- 5:09Speaker 2: right field. I say, that's terrible. He missed, Oh yeah.
- 5:14Speaker 2: He jerked the fastball down and the end. And so
- 5:17Speaker 2: as I'm rounding the bases, I'm jumping up and down,
- 5:21Speaker 2: and when I saw it go over the fence, the
- 5:23Speaker 2: first thing I thought of, I said, Joe, touch all
- 5:26Speaker 2: the bases my absolute thought. And when I asked Tom Cheek,
- 5:30Speaker 2: how did he come up with that? He said, I
- 5:32Speaker 2: saw you jumping around, and that was what I wanted
- 5:35Speaker 2: to you know, I was telling myself to tell you
- 5:37Speaker 2: to touch touch all the bases, and I said, at
- 5:40Speaker 2: the same moment, I was thinking that too. Now, once
- 5:43Speaker 2: I got to second base, I was like, why did
- 5:46Speaker 2: I learn how to do cartwheels? Because I would have
- 5:49Speaker 2: did cartwheels around the base path. I told Mitch Williams
- 5:52Speaker 2: that story when he came to my golf tournament, and
- 5:54Speaker 2: he said, if you had done cart wheels, I had
- 5:56Speaker 2: to come out there and kick your behind, you know,
- 5:58Speaker 2: so you.
- 5:59Speaker 5: Forget that you just shit a walk off home run
- 6:02Speaker 5: to not a game of the World Series, to win
- 6:05Speaker 5: the whole There's been two people in the history of
- 6:08Speaker 5: baseball that have done that, right, Yeah, you and Mazaraski Rosky.
- 6:11Speaker 3: So there's only two people that know nineteen six year
- 6:14Speaker 3: I was.
- 6:15Speaker 2: Here's another thing. I always look at things, how the
- 6:18Speaker 2: stars align. You know, my baseball bat that I hit
- 6:21Speaker 2: the home run with, the model number is Jay ninety three,
- 6:26Speaker 2: So Joe nineteen ninety three. And that's that's the way
- 6:32Speaker 2: it is. And I tell you a quick story, Mitch.
- 6:35Speaker 2: When he finally came to Toronto, he came to my golf
- 6:38Speaker 2: cormerate for the ten year anniversary. He had never been
- 6:40Speaker 2: back to Toronto, so he flies in. We had a
- 6:43Speaker 2: practice round. So of course we had a limousine pick
- 6:46Speaker 2: him up, you know, treating first class, get him, bring
- 6:49Speaker 2: him to the golf course. And when he gets out
- 6:51Speaker 2: of the when he gets out of the car, the
- 6:53Speaker 2: first person he sees is my son Jordan, who looks
- 6:56Speaker 2: just like me. The next person he sees is my
- 6:59Speaker 2: brother Free, you know, who looks just like me. And
- 7:02Speaker 2: Misch goes, damn, everybody in Toronto looks like Joe Carter.
- 7:08Speaker 3: He's seeing Joe.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, he's He's seeing Joe double So hey, it
- 7:14Speaker 2: was an iconic moment and I'm very happy that I
- 7:17Speaker 2: got a chance to live it.
- 7:19Speaker 3: That's super cool. Krats.

- 8:23Speaker 1: had since then? I'm sure you've come across so many
- 8:27Speaker 1: different people like you said that have told you their story.
- 8:30Speaker 3: I don't know tattoos or any I've had I've had.
- 8:34Speaker 2: I've had one lady come up to me and she
- 8:36Speaker 2: she thanked me that I hit the home run because
- 8:40Speaker 2: she got They got married that night, and so at
- 8:43Speaker 2: the reception, nobody was at, you know, dancing or anything.
- 8:48Speaker 2: At the reception, they were all in the back room
- 8:50Speaker 2: watching the TV screen.
- 8:52Speaker 3: And so after the home after.
- 8:53Speaker 2: I hit the home run, then everybody, everybody comes out
- 8:56Speaker 2: and they got a chance to celebrate. Another guy tells
- 8:59Speaker 2: me that, uh, he gave his tickets to his to
- 9:03Speaker 2: his son for Game six because he had tickets to
- 9:07Speaker 2: game seven. And as an athlete, unless you're behind, you
- 9:13Speaker 2: don't want to play game seven, and we didn't want
- 9:15Speaker 2: to play Game seven. So we were like, like, well,
- 9:19Speaker 2: those tickets are priceless now because they never got used.
- 9:22Speaker 3: Exactly, they don't exist.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Hey, didn't they even mention you're in Big Daddy, the
- 9:27Speaker 1: famous movie with Adam Sandler, Right, yeah, bot twist.
- 9:31Speaker 3: At the end.
- 9:32Speaker 2: My my daughter. You know, I helped coach my daughter's
- 9:34Speaker 2: basketball team, which she was growing up. And so they
- 9:37Speaker 2: were at the movie theater watching Big Daddy, and I
- 9:39Speaker 2: get a phone call.
- 9:40Speaker 3: Dad, Dad, they mentioned your name in the movie. It
- 9:43Speaker 3: was like, you know, I'm famous. You know, is everything
- 9:46Speaker 3: else everything else except now you're in the movie. Yeah.
- 9:50Speaker 2: And it goes back when Drake came out with the
- 9:53Speaker 2: the record Back to Back. So you know, I turned
- 9:58Speaker 2: my phone off at night. So I turn my phone
- 10:00Speaker 2: off and I get up about eight o'clock next morning,
- 10:02Speaker 2: so I turned my phone on and it's like ding.
- 10:04Speaker 3: Ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding
- 10:06Speaker 3: ding ding, And I'm like, what is going on? Did
- 10:09Speaker 3: something happen?
- 10:10Speaker 2: So I'm getting all these text messages from everybody, and
- 10:13Speaker 2: even my son. He goes Dad, he said, Drake puts
- 10:16Speaker 2: you on the cover of his Back to Back single
- 10:20Speaker 2: and TMZ is calling me. So now my son says, wow,
- 10:23Speaker 2: he said you really hit it big. Now it's like
- 10:25Speaker 2: because now Drake, so everybody TMZ is calling me talking
- 10:29Speaker 2: about the rift between Drake and Meek Meil. I think
- 10:31Speaker 2: it was all a setup, you know, to get more publicity.
- 10:34Speaker 2: But I'm still mad at Drake because he put my
- 10:38Speaker 2: picture on the cover. All I wanted was a quarter
- 10:42Speaker 2: of a percent of what he made for that album.
- 10:45Speaker 2: That's that song, that's it. He still hasn't paid me yet.
- 10:48Speaker 2: You believe next time those royalties would Yes.
- 10:54Speaker 4: You gotta keep your phone on at night. Maybe he's
- 10:56Speaker 4: texting you at night. My first trainer ever in pro
- 11:00Speaker 4: ball was Tommy Craig. Tommy Craig told me about how
- 11:05Speaker 4: you guys celebrated, because you guys got to celebrate in
- 11:08Speaker 4: ninety two and then back to back in ninety three.
- 11:11Speaker 4: Which one did you feel like was a more fun
- 11:14Speaker 4: celebration with the entire team?
- 11:17Speaker 2: Not even close ninety two? And here's the reason why
- 11:21Speaker 2: we were on the road so we had nowhere to
- 11:23Speaker 2: go and and beating Atlanta.
- 11:26Speaker 3: You know, we're in the.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Locker room, all these celebrities are coming in from Canada
- 11:30Speaker 2: and then we go back to the Nico Hotel.
- 11:33Speaker 3: Did you rub it in there's there's Doggie over there, matics. No,
- 11:36Speaker 3: he wasn't he wasn't playing with He wasn't there yet.
- 11:39Speaker 3: Mostly was there, Yeah, mostly was there. Yeah, he was there.
- 11:41Speaker 5: You know, the the young better give me a good draw.
- 11:44Speaker 5: We did beat you in ninety two. No, no, he did.
- 11:46Speaker 5: He didn't do that.
- 11:47Speaker 2: He had me out last group on the first day.
- 11:50Speaker 2: He said that me, Mahomes and Vence, Coopman, Coleman. We
- 11:53Speaker 2: were the feature group number ten TNL. So that didn't work.
- 11:58Speaker 2: But anyway, so ninety two we go back to hotel.
- 12:00Speaker 2: We have the whole bottom floor. We got our wives,
- 12:03Speaker 2: our families there, our friends and so now the whole
- 12:07Speaker 2: team is together. We never went to bed. If you
- 12:10Speaker 2: can imagine guys like Dave Winfield, John Oleru. We had
- 12:13Speaker 2: a soul trained line. We were dancing, partying. It was awesome.
- 12:18Speaker 2: And then we had like a six o'clock wake up call,
- 12:20Speaker 2: which no one would like I say, went to sleep.
- 12:22Speaker 2: We fly back into Toronto. It was huge. So now
- 12:27Speaker 2: we go the next year in Toronto. You know, hit
- 12:30Speaker 2: the home run, I go up, I talk to the media.
- 12:33Speaker 2: We come down about an hour later and the club
- 12:36Speaker 2: house is like kind of subdued and everything. So then
- 12:39Speaker 2: we had we went upstairs to the Founders club, and
- 12:42Speaker 2: they had a little dinner and we just sat there.
- 12:45Speaker 2: It was like like, okay, it's three o'clock. We got
- 12:48Speaker 2: to go home. I got to do a show in
- 12:50Speaker 2: the morning.
- 12:51Speaker 3: That was it. We never got a chance to really
- 12:53Speaker 3: go out.
- 12:53Speaker 2: So ninety two on the road, it's always better than
- 12:56Speaker 2: the party in the visiting town of those championship teams.
- 13:01Speaker 1: That's cool, all right, So then let's spin it forward.
- 13:04Speaker 1: What do you think about this current Blue Jays team
- 13:06Speaker 1: and their chances?
- 13:08Speaker 2: You know, I like what they're doing. I tell you,
- 13:13Speaker 2: one of the big acquisitions they had was is Addison Barger.
- 13:17Speaker 2: I mean, he every time I see him, he does
- 13:19Speaker 2: something spectacular. You know, a lot of names that you
- 13:22Speaker 2: know that I really hadn't heard of. And so I
- 13:25Speaker 2: had a long talk with one of the owners of
- 13:28Speaker 2: the Blue Jays and Ottawa and he asked me, he says, Joe,
- 13:31Speaker 2: what do we need? I said, well, what you need
- 13:34Speaker 2: is a big RBI guy. They never had. They never
- 13:37Speaker 2: had that RBI guy in the middle that that was
- 13:40Speaker 2: going to drive you in consistently one hundred, one hundred
- 13:42Speaker 2: and twenty five runs. You know, Vlad awesome player, great player,
- 13:47Speaker 2: great teammate and they they wanted to make him that.
- 13:51Speaker 3: But he's not really you know that guy where he's
- 13:54Speaker 3: going to do that.
- 13:55Speaker 2: So you know, they went out and they pieced, they
- 13:58Speaker 2: pieced everything together, and right now those guys are believing
- 14:01Speaker 2: in themselves. They've got great closer and I mean, bashit.
- 14:08Speaker 2: I mean, I you know, I knew his father real well,
- 14:12Speaker 2: but man, he's got one of the swings where he
- 14:14Speaker 2: is just I mean, he's aggressive and he puts everything
- 14:17Speaker 2: in play, and uh no, he's phenomenal. So with lat
- 14:21Speaker 2: over there at first base, I mean, they are doing it.
- 14:23Speaker 2: They're piecing the team together and right now it's a
- 14:25Speaker 2: lot of fun for them to come to the ballpark
- 14:28Speaker 2: and that's the main thing.
- 14:30Speaker 3: Wow.
- 14:31Speaker 1: And you're saying, I mean, Blad obviously is one of
- 14:33Speaker 1: the better hitters in the sport, but he'll take a walk,
- 14:35Speaker 1: and you're saying, they needed a guy who's just they need.
- 14:39Speaker 3: He's not gonna take that walk, He's gonna drive the
- 14:42Speaker 3: run in. That was Okay.
- 14:43Speaker 5: Then I'm gonna ask you this question because I have
- 14:45Speaker 5: this argument with people. I'm an use soda for example. Okay,
- 14:49Speaker 5: he will not leave the strike zone, right, but sometimes
- 14:52Speaker 5: you need your guy run around third less than two outs,
- 14:57Speaker 5: leave the strike zone and get that RBI and move
- 15:00Speaker 5: to the next guy. But if you just won't ever
- 15:02Speaker 5: leave it, you're always doesn't that I mean, I mean,
- 15:06Speaker 5: he's still the bases this so they'll have he's got
- 15:08Speaker 5: a few this year, he's got twenty probably this year.
- 15:10Speaker 3: You know, are as big as these tables.
- 15:12Speaker 2: You could steal base, Yeah, I know. I mean you're
- 15:15Speaker 2: you're not paid to steal the bases. You know, you're
- 15:19Speaker 2: not paid to walk, especially in the RBI situation. My year,
- 15:22Speaker 2: my one year I played in the Nation League in
- 15:24Speaker 2: San Diego. I hit behind Jack Clark. Okay, Jack Clark
- 15:28Speaker 2: had this bat speed, but he had a great eye
- 15:31Speaker 2: at the plate, and it'd be guys on second and third,
- 15:35Speaker 2: ball this far outside. He's like, no, it's ball four.
- 15:39Speaker 2: He's like, take his walk. I'm like, go ahead because
- 15:43Speaker 2: that far that. I swung a thirty five inch bat,
- 15:46Speaker 2: so I could handle the inside pitch and the outside
- 15:49Speaker 2: pitch about this far outside. Because my mentality is when
- 15:53Speaker 2: a guy's on base and they know I'm an RBI guy,
- 15:57Speaker 2: so I'm the guy they talked about in the meetings.
- 15:59Speaker 2: Hey can't give Carter this, you know, especially guys in
- 16:02Speaker 2: schooling position. He's a free swinger. But we can't make
- 16:05Speaker 2: a mistake on that. So now I know the scating report,
- 16:09Speaker 2: and I know that that picture is worried about that,
- 16:11Speaker 2: and the catcher's like, okay, we gotta be careful. So
- 16:13Speaker 2: if you missed the plate, I can still hit it
- 16:16Speaker 2: and drive that run in because that was my job.
- 16:19Speaker 3: I like it. I like it all right.
- 16:20Speaker 5: Before we let you go, one, I want an invite
- 16:22Speaker 5: to your golf tournament because I know it's in Toronto
- 16:24Speaker 5: one of these times. Go it's always in June, Like baseball.
- 16:32Speaker 3: It's always in Yeah.
- 16:33Speaker 5: I'm like Sandy, I'm in San Diego or San Francisco,
- 16:36Speaker 5: and he's like, hey, fly to Toronto for a night
- 16:38Speaker 5: or two.
- 16:39Speaker 2: And hey, okay, we got it right here, we got it. Okay,
- 16:41Speaker 2: you can run it back a year later. Hey, j
- 16:43Speaker 2: I'm inviting you have an open invitation.
- 16:45Speaker 3: Okay, okay. But the more I call.
- 16:47Speaker 2: You, you know, and if you don't come, no more for you.
- 16:52Speaker 5: The only reason I come to these tournament is people
- 16:56Speaker 5: don't know this, but Joe and Fred his brother, make
- 16:59Speaker 5: up a pie that is to die for.
- 17:01Speaker 3: Okay.
- 17:02Speaker 5: So every time they always I get a text from
- 17:04Speaker 5: either Joe or Fred. We got a pie for you.
- 17:06Speaker 5: We got a pie for you. So last night I
- 17:08Speaker 5: took the pie in the locker room with all the
- 17:09Speaker 5: players and they ate that pie about five seconds. Yeah,
- 17:12Speaker 5: there was one little piece left. And you saw Smoltz.
- 17:14Speaker 5: He was exhausted from being the commissioner.
- 17:16Speaker 3: He came in there. He's like, he was literally like
- 17:19Speaker 3: a monster. You saw him too, Yeah, he was emotional eating. Yeah, yeah,
- 17:25Speaker 3: emotionally eating.
- 17:25Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:26Speaker 2: As soon as I saw I saw you doing that
- 17:28Speaker 2: doing your little radio show the first day, you threw
- 17:30Speaker 2: your hand up. You're like, hey, yeah, Now we we
- 17:35Speaker 2: can't stay in the hotels, so every time we come
- 17:38Speaker 2: to these events, we get an airbnb so that we
- 17:41Speaker 2: can go out and cook for guys.
- 17:43Speaker 3: Just like you aj c there.
- 17:44Speaker 5: Well you usually do a fish fry, fish fry or something, right,
- 17:50Speaker 5: but we also but Fred also does you know he
- 17:53Speaker 5: does deep fried turkeys doing Christmas and Thanksgiving.
- 17:56Speaker 3: He does.
- 17:56Speaker 2: He'll do about one hundred and so now he's injecting
- 17:59Speaker 2: the it can with this with this special sauce concunction.
- 18:03Speaker 2: He mixes up and then he deep fries it in
- 18:05Speaker 2: the big old bucket for like thirty minutes and that
- 18:09Speaker 2: was the first time I had it, and I mean
- 18:11Speaker 2: it was it was ship those because.
- 18:14Speaker 3: He shipped that the holiday occasions microwave. He could you know, I.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Would I would not put it past Fred. Fred is
- 18:21Speaker 2: a he's a Fred as a hustler. Oh yeah, yeah,
- 18:24Speaker 2: you don't know Fred mover in shade exactly. I'm in fact,
- 18:27Speaker 2: I'm Fred's brother. These things you are, I think these
- 18:30Speaker 2: terms you are exactly. Hey Joe, I'm Joe Carter. Where's
- 18:34Speaker 2: Fred Fred? Yeah, Hey, I'm angry Fred.
- 18:36Speaker 1: Well, it's really cool that you guys do that and
- 18:39Speaker 1: obviously appreciate you coming on here.
- 18:41Speaker 3: Good luck last day. Yeah, no one has ever tipped us.
- 18:44Speaker 3: You believe that? That is?
- 18:45Speaker 5: That is like that is I'm gonna tell you this.
- 18:50Speaker 5: You know what because there are times wh I had
- 18:52Speaker 5: to get your keys to put money in the Tampa
- 18:55Speaker 5: at the comprehend. Fred had to give me the keys
- 18:58Speaker 5: so I could go put money in your car.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Okay, I mean we're out there spending I mean we
- 19:04Speaker 2: spent four or five six dollars making all this stuff,
- 19:07Speaker 2: and it's like, you know, but no account what it is.
- 19:11Speaker 2: It is the things I like to see the look
- 19:14Speaker 2: on these guys face when they when they taste the
- 19:16Speaker 2: pie or the food.
- 19:18Speaker 3: And it's just something that we want to give back.
- 19:20Speaker 3: That's that's all it is. That's really cool. I love that.
- 19:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:23Speaker 3: AJ talks about it all the time.
- 19:24Speaker 5: He can't eat.
- 19:27Speaker 3: Allergic, but I lived through through a through AJ. All right. Lastly,
- 19:32Speaker 3: last question here because I know you got your tea
- 19:34Speaker 3: time coming up fourteen minutes. All right, how cool? How
- 19:37Speaker 3: cool is this this event?
- 19:38Speaker 1: Because you do a lot of golf on this one
- 19:41Speaker 1: is Yeah, it's it's it's really cool.
- 19:44Speaker 2: I know SMOs has really worked his butt off and
- 19:47Speaker 2: and and all all the sponsors that we have here,
- 19:49Speaker 2: and Lakewood has been a great a great host.
- 19:52Speaker 3: This is a phenomenal event. Uh you know. Uh.
- 19:55Speaker 2: The only thing I don't like is smostly making up
- 19:59Speaker 2: the house as the game goes along. You know, he
- 20:02Speaker 2: changes them. So we'd like to know these in advance,
- 20:05Speaker 2: you know, before we get down here. So he had
- 20:07Speaker 2: the top forty, the bottom forty. So now I'm in
- 20:10Speaker 2: the B League. I'm back in the minor leagues today
- 20:12Speaker 2: because I didn't make the top forty. And then you
- 20:15Speaker 2: got to have strategy involved if you're going to play
- 20:17Speaker 2: in that top forty, because you don't want to be
- 20:19Speaker 2: the forty first player playing with the eightieth player, right,
- 20:22Speaker 2: And because I think Bryce Butler he put an Instagram
- 20:28Speaker 2: quote out he says this game sucks.
- 20:31Speaker 3: He said, I hate it.
- 20:33Speaker 2: I'm in seventy ninth place and there's only eighty golfers.
- 20:38Speaker 3: He's young, he's got time, he got time golf. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 20:42Speaker 3: you can send an appeal to the commission.
- 20:44Speaker 2: No, it's no. Absolutely, pro Rivals is done a tremendous job.
- 20:48Speaker 2: And I'm glad they're putting yourself because you're seeing a
- 20:51Speaker 2: lot of athletes come out and from football, baseball, basketball,
- 20:56Speaker 2: even tennis. The one player so just rottery. And that's
- 21:00Speaker 2: what you miss when you retire. You're not around all
- 21:03Speaker 2: those baseball players, all those football players, where you sit
- 21:06Speaker 2: in the locker room and you tell stories. You know,
- 21:09Speaker 2: we just went out and played eighteen holes. Everybody has
- 21:11Speaker 2: to tell you every shot they hit. That's just the
- 21:14Speaker 2: way it is. And then we lie about every single
- 21:16Speaker 2: thing there is, and how about how good we used
- 21:19Speaker 2: to be and how it was back in the old days,
- 21:21Speaker 2: and we compare leagues and everything, so yeah, it's what
- 21:24Speaker 2: we do.
- 21:24Speaker 3: It's cool.
- 21:25Speaker 1: Yeah, the locker room scene is very cool. Well, do
- 21:27Speaker 1: your thing. It was awesome to see you at the time.
- 21:30Speaker 1: What a call at the top. That's Joe CARDI got
- 21:33Speaker 1: them old Joe all right,
