- 0:19Speaker 1: are out there, and Chevy is doing their best to
- 0:21Speaker 1: make sure everyone has an electric vehicle, and the Chevy
- 0:24Speaker 1: Silverado is the pinnacle of evs. EV's everyone everywhere, Chevy
- 0:32Speaker 1: everyone for There we go. Let's get into Mason Taylor.
- 0:36Speaker 1: An absolute pleasure to have you on the podcast here.
- 0:40Speaker 1: How do we open him up? I feel like he's
- 0:41Speaker 1: a little yeah, you know what I mean.
- 0:43Speaker 3: You can feel it?
- 0:44Speaker 2: Yeah, you can feel it a little bit, feel a
- 0:45Speaker 2: little I mean you're going to your sophomore year.
- 0:47Speaker 3: Right, yeah? How old?
- 0:49Speaker 4: Eighteen?
- 0:50Speaker 3: Wow? You're still eighteen? When's your birthday?
- 0:52Speaker 4: May?
- 0:54Speaker 3: Nice?
- 0:54Speaker 5: Bro?
- 0:54Speaker 4: So I'm pretty young.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Any big plans for your birthday coming up?
- 0:58Speaker 6: Fred's David Buster's probably probably David Busters, Yeah, busties, honest,
- 1:04Speaker 6: probably football, so we'll probably still be here.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Dude, talk about your first year like you were a
- 1:08Speaker 1: true freshman, you know, we can talk about how you
- 1:12Speaker 1: didn't get out of bounds right away in the Florida
- 1:13Speaker 1: State game. We can also talk about the two point
- 1:16Speaker 1: conversion it gets Bama to win the game.
- 1:17Speaker 5: I mean, or wherever you want.
- 1:18Speaker 6: Yeah, the whole the whole season was crazy. I mean,
- 1:22Speaker 6: coming from high school, it's one hundred percent different from
- 1:25Speaker 6: how you prepare. And then the games and basically the crowd.
- 1:28Speaker 6: That was the biggest thing to me.
- 1:30Speaker 4: I remember the first game going out out there, I
- 1:32Speaker 4: was like, what the hell is this?
- 1:34Speaker 6: Just like going on seeing eighty thousand people just watching
- 1:38Speaker 6: you and I that was again with the first wake
- 1:41Speaker 6: up call to college was probably after that game. I've
- 1:43Speaker 6: gotten so many hate comments and dms after that. My
- 1:46Speaker 6: phone was blowing up. I'm like, what is this? And
- 1:48Speaker 6: I had a buddy, Garrett Nessmayer telling me the shower.
- 1:51Speaker 6: He was like, he was like, welcome to college football.
- 1:54Speaker 6: Like your phone's gonna be ringing twenty four to seven.
- 1:56Speaker 6: So that was that was my big wake up call, basically,
- 1:59Speaker 6: welcome college football. A bunch of people out there talking
- 2:03Speaker 6: shit about you or whatever. But the whole the whole
- 2:05Speaker 6: season has been amazing. I mean, throw the ups and
- 2:08Speaker 6: downs bad games to your good games. I mean, like
- 2:11Speaker 6: you said, the Bama game was insane, After that it
- 2:14Speaker 6: was it was even more fun. But that whole, that whole,
- 2:17Speaker 6: the whole experience, the whole season has been been awesome
- 2:20Speaker 6: and it's a great ride.
- 2:21Speaker 4: And I'm looking forward to next year too. Brother.
- 2:23Speaker 2: It seems like you there was a lot of ups
- 2:25Speaker 2: and downs, but dealing with the haters of social media,
- 2:28Speaker 2: everyone's got a voice. Now, I'm curious, as young as
- 2:30Speaker 2: you are, how did you after that first game and
- 2:33Speaker 2: you're still getting all this hate mail and all this
- 2:35Speaker 2: different stuff, Like how did you handle that in your
- 2:38Speaker 2: head at going further into your your freshman year.
- 2:40Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean at first it was like kind of
- 2:42Speaker 6: like you kind of trying to come up with excuse
- 2:45Speaker 6: and stuff like that.
- 2:45Speaker 4: But you kind of just gotta all all all your tough.
- 2:49Speaker 6: Like I would say, like you kind of try to
- 2:52Speaker 6: defend yourself like, oh it wasn't me and blah blah blah.
- 2:55Speaker 6: But you kind of half the people, or more than
- 2:58Speaker 6: half the people, don't even know what the fuck they're
- 2:59Speaker 6: talking about. So I think that's that's a big thing.
- 3:02Speaker 6: Just dial Yeah, and basically basically just looking at like
- 3:07Speaker 6: your support, like your teammates and coaches, like this is
- 3:09Speaker 6: the only people we need and the only people we have.
- 3:11Speaker 4: So in your family.
- 3:12Speaker 6: But other than that, I think after that first game,
- 3:14Speaker 6: all the other hate I came after that, I kind
- 3:16Speaker 6: of just brush it off your shoulders and keep playing.
- 3:19Speaker 6: And then it happens moments like like the Bamma game,
- 3:22Speaker 6: I had people telling me and my DMS, I'm sorry,
- 3:25Speaker 6: and I would scroll up and it was like if
- 3:27Speaker 6: you blah blah blah blah, and it's the same people
- 3:29Speaker 6: what I was saying a few week one.
- 3:31Speaker 4: So uh so, yeah, I just let to brush off
- 3:33Speaker 4: my shoulders.
- 3:34Speaker 6: Now I really don't mind it at all. But it's
- 3:36Speaker 6: definitely been.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Growing out yourself in a little bit of a hole there, thinking,
- 3:40Speaker 2: like you said, the excuses, which everyone does. Every someone
- 3:43Speaker 2: like points something out like oh like when I was
- 3:45Speaker 2: like you give up the sack and you be like, bro,
- 3:48Speaker 2: that wasn't me. But like getting away from the keyboard
- 3:51Speaker 2: is say like, because you don't have to fight, that
- 3:52Speaker 2: battle has got to be tough to do.
- 3:54Speaker 6: Definitely, the tough part is not trying to respond back,
- 3:57Speaker 6: because you respond and then it just so that I've
- 4:00Speaker 6: never respawned in one of those, and.
- 4:01Speaker 2: He did respond like once in a while though, like
- 4:03Speaker 2: sometimes you gotta let her. Let a fucker know, like, hey, listen, you.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Talked about that social social brand. Yeah, yeah, sure, because
- 4:11Speaker 1: it's something that's constant, Like it's not you handle it
- 4:13Speaker 1: when you're eighteen, so it never happened again. Like I
- 4:15Speaker 1: was still fighting the same demons at twenty seven in
- 4:18Speaker 1: the league, just thinking about like, you know, because you
- 4:21Speaker 1: take everything personal because you care so much.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Yeah, you hear a lot and people don't see how
- 4:24Speaker 2: much you put into it.
- 4:25Speaker 4: Exactly, and you just want to be keyboard warriors.
- 4:27Speaker 6: Yeah, and you and you're like, yeah, what the hell
- 4:29Speaker 6: is going on accounts that have one one follower? Yeah dude,
- 4:34Speaker 6: always him too, no profile pick. They made it up,
- 4:37Speaker 6: like damn yeah that day they made.
- 4:39Speaker 3: It the matter the most for whatever reason.
- 4:41Speaker 2: You'll see like nine comments are like all positive and
- 4:45Speaker 2: there's that tenth one. Yeah, that one's like you suck
- 4:47Speaker 2: something basic?
- 4:48Speaker 3: Yeah, bro, do I nerve?
- 4:51Speaker 2: Yeah, it does. Working through that stuff and it's only
- 4:53Speaker 2: gonna get worse, honestly, Like the because you seem like
- 4:57Speaker 2: you're the from the beginning of the year to the
- 4:59Speaker 2: end of the year from MO everyone was telling us
- 5:00Speaker 2: about you is that you started to do this. So
- 5:03Speaker 2: you have a lot to look forward to, especially in
- 5:04Speaker 2: your college career, Like as you become more of a
- 5:07Speaker 2: nationally recognized player, there's gonna be more hate. Like some
- 5:10Speaker 2: dude in Philadelphia, does it come for you?
- 5:12Speaker 3: He doesn't even know yet. It's one game, Yeah.
- 5:15Speaker 2: That's what it is. What are your expectations going into
- 5:18Speaker 2: this sophomore year ending the way your freshman year did.
- 5:20Speaker 2: And also you didn't even early enroll, Like you just
- 5:23Speaker 2: showed up to campus and you're like, I'm just gonna
- 5:25Speaker 2: play for LSU immediately.
- 5:27Speaker 6: Yeah, it definitely took a lot of work to get
- 5:29Speaker 6: back in the and really the playbook is the hardest thing.
- 5:32Speaker 6: I mean there's so many ins and outs, and you
- 5:34Speaker 6: can know the plays, but you can know that you
- 5:36Speaker 6: have to know the defenses and like what they do
- 5:38Speaker 6: and stuff and that.
- 5:38Speaker 4: So it was definitely a lot to handle.
- 5:40Speaker 6: So going into this season, I think I definitely have
- 5:43Speaker 6: high expectations and I'm looking forward to that. I mean,
- 5:45Speaker 6: that's why i came here and that's what I'm gonna do.
- 5:47Speaker 6: But yeah, I definitely have high expectations, but I think
- 5:51Speaker 6: I think I'm gonna have a great year and learn
- 5:53Speaker 6: from my mistakes from last year and watch the film
- 5:56Speaker 6: and get with the coaches and see how I can
- 5:58Speaker 6: exceed and keep getting better because I don't want to be, you.
- 6:01Speaker 4: Know, constant. It's like an average player.
- 6:04Speaker 6: You want to keep getting better and better until you
- 6:06Speaker 6: until you retire, until your time's come.
- 6:07Speaker 5: What made you want to come to LSU?
- 6:10Speaker 4: See that? I honestly don't know.
- 6:12Speaker 6: I mean I've had I have, I had twenty something offers,
- 6:16Speaker 6: but I would talk to Florida, Bama and here, and
- 6:19Speaker 6: I think, like, I think it was kind of God
- 6:22Speaker 6: because at first Alabama would kind of it was like
- 6:25Speaker 6: kind of like brushing me off their shoulders, like I
- 6:28Speaker 6: would hear less and less from them. Same with Florida.
- 6:30Speaker 6: I mean, Florida had a coaching change too, but I
- 6:33Speaker 6: feel like it worked out perfect because every school like
- 6:35Speaker 6: started talking to me less except for LSU. So I
- 6:38Speaker 6: think it was that was like the opening window, like
- 6:41Speaker 6: they actually care about me. So I'm gonna come here,
- 6:43Speaker 6: But first I wanted to start and uh, I mean
- 6:45Speaker 6: stay in Florida because I'm from for Lauderdale. So I
- 6:49Speaker 6: really liked UF, but they again they brushed me off
- 6:52Speaker 6: their shoulders, and I think it just everything was pointing
- 6:54Speaker 6: to LSU and I was like, but can I do that?
- 6:56Speaker 4: And then it was just pointing LSU. So I think
- 6:59Speaker 4: I just made it just in the.
- 7:00Speaker 5: Come here so that Bama game field sweet?
- 7:02Speaker 4: Then yeah, yeah.
- 7:04Speaker 3: Like I kind of got brush up.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Then you can get made a mistake too. That could
- 7:08Speaker 2: have been a slam dunk. Yeah in your backyard.
- 7:10Speaker 6: My dad is really good friends with Saban because he
- 7:13Speaker 6: played for him at the Dolphins, So that was that
- 7:17Speaker 6: he I think I think he might have gave him
- 7:18Speaker 6: a call to that game. Savan gave my dad a
- 7:21Speaker 6: call and and talk ship or whatever, but it.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Was it was your dad wanting you to go to
- 7:26Speaker 1: BAM or play for saving or how is your old
- 7:28Speaker 1: man in this?
- 7:28Speaker 3: So then because obviously you come.
- 7:29Speaker 1: From a pedigree of Jason Taylor, I mean Zach Thomas
- 7:32Speaker 1: is in there too, Like how pivotal was your dad
- 7:36Speaker 1: in all this recruiting.
- 7:37Speaker 6: I mean he let me do make the right decisions
- 7:39Speaker 6: and make my decision like what I want to do,
- 7:41Speaker 6: But he definitely wanted me to go to a big program.
- 7:44Speaker 6: But he was he was fin He loves l s
- 7:46Speaker 6: U now, but he he loved Bama l s U.
- 7:49Speaker 6: He loved the top schools, he loved the SEC. He
- 7:52Speaker 6: didn't want me going to a CC or anywhere like that.
- 7:54Speaker 6: He wanted me to go to big time down.
- 7:56Speaker 2: He didn't look at the big ten. Michigan off for you.
- 7:59Speaker 4: Uh No, Michigan did not offer me.
- 8:01Speaker 3: What about Nebraska? The Nebraska shot.
- 8:04Speaker 4: They didn't offer me either.
- 8:05Speaker 6: But no, my mind was focused on the SEC too
- 8:09Speaker 6: at that point.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Damn bro, Yeah you got these boys brainwashing south bum Nah.
- 8:14Speaker 4: I think he was happy with my decision.
- 8:16Speaker 2: Yeah, when you got when you left Florida came to Louisiana, Like,
- 8:20Speaker 2: what was it like acclimating to this kind of culture
- 8:23Speaker 2: because it's a very unique culture, a lot of French influence.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Everyone here just rides with LSU always. It's gotta be fun.
- 8:30Speaker 2: But like, was there a difference for you between Florida?
- 8:32Speaker 4: There's not much except the food.
- 8:34Speaker 6: I mean the first first couple of weeks I got here,
- 8:36Speaker 6: I game maybe fifteen pounds, asked, yeah, yeah exactly. So
- 8:42Speaker 6: other than that the food, I mean, the culture is differently.
- 8:44Speaker 6: Oh of football here is like so important, and you
- 8:47Speaker 6: see fans everywhere at the airport screaming and are like,
- 8:50Speaker 6: I've been screaming out of the airport, amazing, like all
- 8:53Speaker 6: that stuff. So the fans are definitely fans are definitely crazy,
- 8:57Speaker 6: but they're kind of, I want to say, I want
- 8:59Speaker 6: to say this the nicest way I would say, bipolar.
- 9:01Speaker 6: I mean they kind of hate you one week, love it. Yeah,
- 9:05Speaker 6: hate you one week, love you the next. So I
- 9:07Speaker 6: mean it's definitely great, but at the same time, it
- 9:09Speaker 6: sucks kind of but they're they're great fans. I mean,
- 9:12Speaker 6: every every Saturday they're in, they're packing it out, screaming
- 9:15Speaker 6: on top of their lungs. So it's definitely definitely a
- 9:17Speaker 6: different culture, but I love it.
- 9:20Speaker 5: Eagles by the Philadelphia Eagles vibe.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Yeah, Louisiana does have it.
- 9:23Speaker 1: They love it so much. So if you lose or whatever,
- 9:26Speaker 1: it just it literally ruins.
- 9:28Speaker 2: All of them have a clockie. When football season ends,
- 9:30Speaker 2: it's like, fuck, dude, there's this many days till next football. Yeah,
- 9:34Speaker 2: we're that excited about it.
- 9:35Speaker 5: Yeah, what should we hear with them next? What?
- 9:39Speaker 2: What if you want?
- 9:40Speaker 5: What was the laugh?
- 9:41Speaker 2: I was just laughing at you?
- 9:43Speaker 1: What was I doing? My thinking face. Yeah, you gotta
- 9:46Speaker 1: think of where can you go with this?
- 9:47Speaker 5: Like?
- 9:47Speaker 1: Do we ask him more about his old man? Your
- 9:49Speaker 1: dad was a legend. What was it like growing up
- 9:51Speaker 1: under his roof?
- 9:52Speaker 3: Was it?
- 9:52Speaker 1: Did it suck at times? Was it like you all
- 9:54Speaker 1: want to carve my own lane about growing up in
- 9:58Speaker 1: that house?
- 9:58Speaker 6: I mean a lot of a lot of peop people
- 10:00Speaker 6: say like let them let him build his own path
- 10:03Speaker 6: or whatever, But I don't. I don't like when people say, oh,
- 10:06Speaker 6: Jason Teler song, I don't mind. It doesn't bother me
- 10:08Speaker 6: at all. I mean, uh, my dad did what he
- 10:11Speaker 6: did in the league. I mean, yeah, I'm trying to
- 10:12Speaker 6: create my own path too, But I don't mind when
- 10:14Speaker 6: people say, oh, he's Jason Deeler's son. People Actually, some
- 10:17Speaker 6: people get mad and they're like they're like, oh, let
- 10:20Speaker 6: him have his own past.
- 10:21Speaker 4: I mentioned his dad, his uncle, blah blah blah.
- 10:23Speaker 6: Like I think, I think that's cool to be honest
- 10:25Speaker 6: with with them both playing football, on them being so
- 10:28Speaker 6: good at what they're at so But other than that, yeah,
- 10:32Speaker 6: I mean, it wasn't anything crazy. I feel like I
- 10:35Speaker 6: feel at a young age, I really didn't think of.
- 10:37Speaker 4: It like that. Yeah, I was like, my dad plays football,
- 10:39Speaker 4: blah blah blah.
- 10:40Speaker 6: But I didn't think he was like that good until
- 10:43Speaker 6: I grew up and saw like what he did and
- 10:45Speaker 6: actually as accomplished.
- 10:47Speaker 1: So what old were you when you start figuring out
- 10:49Speaker 1: like he was a savage and your uncle like Zach Thomas.
- 10:52Speaker 6: My teens, savage teens, I'd say, yeah, eleven, twelve, thirteen,
- 10:56Speaker 6: when you start getting the phone and stuff like that.
- 10:59Speaker 2: But people come over to your house, you're like, holy shit, dude,
- 11:02Speaker 2: you know wreck dudes, right, yeah, dude, when when you
- 11:10Speaker 2: look towards the future NFL, would you grew up as
- 11:14Speaker 2: a fan of Dolphins?
- 11:16Speaker 6: Yeah, you could say. I mean, I'm not really a
- 11:18Speaker 6: fan of any NFL team. I don't watch the NFL.
- 11:21Speaker 6: I think college is way more interesting to watch. But
- 11:24Speaker 6: I would say, yeah, the Dolphins with my dad and
- 11:26Speaker 6: uncle played for there. But what are you trying to say, Like, if.
- 11:29Speaker 2: We're looking, if you're thinking like the future, this is
- 11:31Speaker 2: where I would want to play.
- 11:32Speaker 6: I want to go to Miami if you want to
- 11:34Speaker 6: go to Miami, Yeah, not just because my dad was there,
- 11:36Speaker 6: but just the area. I mean, I don't want to
- 11:38Speaker 6: live in just Yeah, exactly somewhere breezing cold. Yeah, but
- 11:45Speaker 6: Miami out because living there and it's really nice and
- 11:48Speaker 6: stuff like that. I want to live where I grew up.
- 11:51Speaker 1: Who do you watch in the league and want to
- 11:52Speaker 1: mold your game after? Like who are tight ends you
- 11:55Speaker 1: watch weekend and week out?
- 11:56Speaker 4: Travis Kelcey, Travis Kelcey.
- 11:58Speaker 6: George Kittle is another good one, boy Andrews from Baltimore,
- 12:04Speaker 6: But yeah, mainly Travis kelce because I mean, blocking all around.
- 12:09Speaker 6: George kill is amazing, but I think I think Travis
- 12:11Speaker 6: kelce is route running opens up so many things Kan
- 12:14Speaker 6: City could do for them. So definitely watching him and
- 12:16Speaker 6: just his routes and stuff like that. He just knows
- 12:19Speaker 6: how to get open. I don't really know how to
- 12:21Speaker 6: explain it. I mean, he just knows where people are
- 12:23Speaker 6: gonna be and just goes in between him and stuff
- 12:25Speaker 6: like that. It's kind of if you really watch it,
- 12:27Speaker 6: it's really like nice to see. But that's why I
- 12:29Speaker 6: watch him probably the most out of everyone.
- 12:31Speaker 2: When you think about your personal development going from year
- 12:34Speaker 2: one to year two, what are the major things that
- 12:36Speaker 2: you think you should focus on to become a better
- 12:38Speaker 2: all around player?
- 12:39Speaker 4: Definitely gets stronger.
- 12:41Speaker 6: You know, I'm being eighteen years old in the SEC
- 12:44Speaker 6: is kind of hard putting your nose in there with
- 12:47Speaker 6: all those defensive ends that are six six two seventy
- 12:50Speaker 6: and stuff like that. So definitely gets stronger, stronger, faster,
- 12:54Speaker 6: definitely better blocking, catching too, I mean just like almost
- 12:59Speaker 6: like everything whatever.
- 13:00Speaker 3: Yeah, no, what do you feel like you lack?
- 13:02Speaker 6: Most probably pass protection because we we also as tight ends.
- 13:07Speaker 4: We block a lot in this program.
- 13:09Speaker 6: So if that's an inside zone, outside zone, and we'll
- 13:13Speaker 6: probably pass pro maybe ten times a game, yeah, and
- 13:16Speaker 6: we'll probably run block maybe thirty forty thirty five times,
- 13:20Speaker 6: maybe half the play is probably running. So definitely, yeah, blocking,
- 13:25Speaker 6: but I think past past probably definitely need to work on.
- 13:28Speaker 2: There's got to be a crazy level of anxiety you
- 13:29Speaker 2: get when a play action passes called on the back
- 13:32Speaker 2: end because you're you're going against their pass rusher.
- 13:35Speaker 3: Yeah, and you're usually by.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Yourself because the other offense linemen are in combination. Yeah,
- 13:39Speaker 2: that's gotta be.
- 13:40Speaker 6: Yeah, definitely, And definitely when we're in a boundary or
- 13:42Speaker 6: something like that and we're going against their jack, their
- 13:45Speaker 6: their pass rusher, and yeah, you're putting me on their
- 13:47Speaker 6: pass rushers, Like.
- 13:48Speaker 2: It's a crazy concept.
- 13:50Speaker 6: But put her put our all American Will Campbell on them,
- 13:52Speaker 6: put Memry Jones on them.
- 13:53Speaker 4: Why do I have to block one on?
- 13:55Speaker 2: Implement stuff in your in your in those calls where
- 13:58Speaker 2: if like let's say the tackle on the garter in combination,
- 14:00Speaker 2: once he knows that their backers not coming, do they
- 14:02Speaker 2: tell him to look out to help you?
- 14:04Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 14:04Speaker 4: Some Yeah, there's some some plays like that.
- 14:06Speaker 2: Yeah, because you need that. And if I were you,
- 14:08Speaker 2: if I was, what's that? That's what I was gonna say.
- 14:11Speaker 2: I would I would sit a brother that backer doesn't come,
- 14:14Speaker 2: you get they.
- 14:14Speaker 3: Will, they will right away.
- 14:16Speaker 2: Look at this look at this guy, because it's like
- 14:19Speaker 2: you can be a great pass blocker as a tight end,
- 14:21Speaker 2: but at the end of the day, like you weigh
- 14:23Speaker 2: as much as the other individual and he is trained.
- 14:25Speaker 2: You're more so trained to right. You want to get
- 14:27Speaker 2: in front of the guy and die slow death. He's
- 14:29Speaker 2: trying to get to the quarterback and you want to
- 14:30Speaker 2: catch the ball. So it's like a way harder process.
- 14:33Speaker 2: Like when you go through that, it's like, hey, just
- 14:35Speaker 2: don't get beat inside.
- 14:36Speaker 6: Yeah, but I try not to jump at him too much.
- 14:39Speaker 6: Trying to not do that, Yeah, because if they and
- 14:42Speaker 6: go right to the quarterback, that's on me. So I
- 14:44Speaker 6: try not to jump at him. I kind of try
- 14:45Speaker 6: to just stay patient. The main thing is I put
- 14:49Speaker 6: my hands outside a lot, and I bet you any
- 14:51Speaker 6: defense knows that was or tape. I put my hands outside,
- 14:53Speaker 6: So that's another thing I'll work on, is putting my
- 14:55Speaker 6: hands inside.
- 14:57Speaker 4: But yeah, other than that, pass protection, I definitely need
- 14:59Speaker 4: to work on what's the of.
- 15:00Speaker 2: Stress in pass protection? When the guy's inside you or
- 15:03Speaker 2: in like head up on you or outside you, what
- 15:05Speaker 2: are you like?
- 15:05Speaker 6: Man outside outside and outside you're by yourself. If he's inside,
- 15:09Speaker 6: you can wash him into the tack.
- 15:10Speaker 2: Yeah, hopefully put him into the legs or something.
- 15:13Speaker 6: Trip him up if he if he's outside of me,
- 15:15Speaker 6: then I'm like, shit.
- 15:17Speaker 2: You try to get that shitty passed that in like
- 15:18Speaker 2: let me see what those boys been doing over there.
- 15:20Speaker 6: Then he's got inside outside through you to go through.
- 15:24Speaker 2: So do you ever think about living and dying by
- 15:26Speaker 2: the sort of like, Hey, this is a play action,
- 15:28Speaker 2: So I'm gonna run at this guy and make him
- 15:29Speaker 2: hopefully hopefully he thinks he's a run run. Well, a
- 15:31Speaker 2: lot of guys in the SEC are playing past first.
- 15:35Speaker 4: I think they'll play pass first a little. Yeah. Yeah.
- 15:37Speaker 2: If they're playing past first, you gotta and you also
- 15:39Speaker 2: got to understand the sticks, right, yeah, exactly, second and
- 15:41Speaker 2: ten if to get back on track play you need
- 15:43Speaker 2: to get your exactly exactly.
- 15:46Speaker 5: What what game are you looking forward to most this year?
- 15:49Speaker 6: Florida stated percent The way we lost last year is brutal,
- 15:54Speaker 6: and I think we have a lot to prove this year.
- 15:56Speaker 6: I mean it was our first time when we played them.
- 15:59Speaker 6: Last years are first time to all together, new staff,
- 16:02Speaker 6: a bunch of new players, So definitely, definitely Florida State.
- 16:06Speaker 4: We got to get our link back for sure.
- 16:08Speaker 2: Yeah, growing up because a lot of guys here are
- 16:11Speaker 2: talking about how you from a situational standpoint, like you
- 16:14Speaker 2: understand the game and you're in that two minute drive
- 16:17Speaker 2: at the end of the game, were you thinking I
- 16:20Speaker 2: got to get out of balance right now? And how
- 16:23Speaker 2: much does coach Kelly preach like situational football four minute
- 16:26Speaker 2: two minutes?
- 16:27Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 16:27Speaker 6: We yeah, for all these all these situations we do
- 16:30Speaker 6: in practice. I mean like yesterday or Tuesday, we had
- 16:35Speaker 6: four periods of two minutes like in our coaches and
- 16:39Speaker 6: meetings spend fifteen minutes talking about about if you get
- 16:42Speaker 6: the first down, clock stops, if we have so many
- 16:45Speaker 6: different calls and signals for like if we need to
- 16:48Speaker 6: get the first down and take a knee like and
- 16:50Speaker 6: get down on the ground, we need to save time.
- 16:53Speaker 6: We I mean, they go through everything. So it's definitely
- 16:55Speaker 6: really important. I think that's just one of those things
- 16:57Speaker 6: that you're in that moment and the balls coming here,
- 17:00Speaker 6: and you know, like, yeah, I need to catch this ball,
- 17:02Speaker 6: but I need to get my ass out of bounce,
- 17:03Speaker 6: you know what I mean. So that was definitely what
- 17:05Speaker 6: was going through my head right there, is like catch
- 17:07Speaker 6: the ball if you could score or score, but don't
- 17:10Speaker 6: be a here, don't be like trying to be a
- 17:11Speaker 6: hero and get tackled on the one. We don't have
- 17:13Speaker 6: any timeouts and the game's over, you know what I mean.
- 17:15Speaker 6: So yeah, my ass was headed right to that pylon.
- 17:18Speaker 6: If I can get it, if it clears up, I'm
- 17:20Speaker 6: gonna go die for it. But if now I'm jumping
- 17:22Speaker 6: out of bounds. And then I saw I saw there's
- 17:25Speaker 6: a couple of dudes by the pilon, and I'm like, yeah,
- 17:27Speaker 6: let me get my ass out of bounds.
- 17:29Speaker 4: I'm just sprinting over there and just dove.
- 17:31Speaker 6: I actually one dude try to swipe my feet on
- 17:34Speaker 6: the way over there, and I jumped over him and
- 17:36Speaker 6: you see it on the replay my ankle, like I
- 17:40Speaker 6: fucked on my ankle really bad when I when I
- 17:42Speaker 6: did that, and I landed like this, and that's why
- 17:44Speaker 6: I was stumbling, and that's when I dove out of bounds. Said,
- 17:47Speaker 6: I twisted my ankle really bad.
- 17:49Speaker 2: But they said your knee was still in bounce or
- 17:51Speaker 2: your was your elbow.
- 17:52Speaker 4: I think I think it was my knee.
- 17:54Speaker 3: My knee that would have been alive.
- 17:55Speaker 5: Like if they would have called it would have been.
- 17:58Speaker 6: Over since it was a down though the clock stopped
- 18:01Speaker 6: and we got another play. If they called it right
- 18:03Speaker 6: there down, then we would they would have spotted the ball.
- 18:05Speaker 6: The ball would have been over.
- 18:07Speaker 2: In those situational situations, what are you telling yourself going
- 18:11Speaker 2: to the line, Like if you're in a two minute situation,
- 18:13Speaker 2: there's like ten seconds left and you have to get
- 18:15Speaker 2: a field goal, Like for the guys that are watching
- 18:17Speaker 2: this looking up to you already, Like one of the
- 18:20Speaker 2: things you tell yourself in your mind.
- 18:22Speaker 4: Just stick to what you're taught.
- 18:23Speaker 6: I mean, yeah, like you said, ten seconds left, you
- 18:26Speaker 6: if you get the ball, get out of bounds. If
- 18:28Speaker 6: you if you catch the ball in bounds and you
- 18:31Speaker 6: get a certain amount of yards, if you get the
- 18:33Speaker 6: first down, get down.
- 18:34Speaker 4: If you get a certain amount.
- 18:35Speaker 6: Of the yards and you get tackled, run the ball
- 18:37Speaker 6: to the ref and there'd be a mad eight call
- 18:39Speaker 6: on a a field goal team start running on. So
- 18:41Speaker 6: you really just gotta you gotta really think, and you
- 18:43Speaker 6: gotta be smart in those situations so you don't screw
- 18:46Speaker 6: over your team.
- 18:46Speaker 4: But there's definitely a lot of pressure.
- 18:48Speaker 6: But once you once like we wrap it up in
- 18:51Speaker 6: practice almost every day, and I think you just stick
- 18:54Speaker 6: to the fundamentals and what you're coached, and you'll be
- 18:56Speaker 6: prepared for those moments.
- 18:57Speaker 1: And making sure your teammates are. You know, some times
- 19:00Speaker 1: when you're getting late in the game to everybody is
- 19:01Speaker 1: just exhausted and everybody's just yelling.
- 19:03Speaker 4: You got to keep your team into the accountaboo, don't.
- 19:05Speaker 3: Toss the ball doing run the ball doom you know, rable.
- 19:07Speaker 2: You'll see the refs out there, Yes, look at bad body.
- 19:10Speaker 4: Ballers, Yeah, the ballers, Yeah, yeah, Nero hand one.
- 19:14Speaker 2: Yeah, there's a lot of situations.
- 19:15Speaker 5: Yeah, what a tough way to go out to in
- 19:17Speaker 5: that Florida State game. We keep bringing that up. But
- 19:19Speaker 5: the field goal at the end, it's tough.
- 19:21Speaker 2: The been fun.
- 19:23Speaker 5: This was solid.
- 19:24Speaker 1: Yeah, man, we really feel you've got a lot to
- 19:26Speaker 1: look forward to you being on the squad as long
- 19:27Speaker 1: as you stay healthy and I'm sure your old man
- 19:30Speaker 1: will watch this. Hey brother, big fan. We would love
- 19:32Speaker 1: to have you on the bus one day as well.
- 19:34Speaker 1: I just want to get that in Zac Thomas, you know,
- 19:36Speaker 1: white linebacker.
- 19:38Speaker 4: I'll hit them up.
- 19:39Speaker 3: Yeah. Thanks a lot, though, Bro, this is awesome.
- 19:42Speaker 4: We appreciate you, yep for sure.
- 19:45Speaker 5: Big tiny kiss to subscribe, like rate all the fun stuff.
