- 0:27Hey, everybody. Good morning from the chicken
- 0:29coop. So today I'm sharing one of my
- 0:31favorite tricks with you about keeping yourself on track, and
- 0:35that is talking to yourself. Now I know there's going to be
- 0:39people out there that are already laughing and saying,
- 0:41hey, wait a minute, talking to yourself, doesn't that mean
- 0:42you're insane? I'm not talking about the
- 0:45typical walking around your house talking to yourself.
- 0:47What I'm talking about is making little recordings to yourself
- 0:51when you're in a great state that you can play back to
- 0:55yourself when you are not in a great state.
- 0:58So let's say that we take morning, for example.
- 1:01Morning is a really incredibly important time in setting the
- 1:05tone for your day. Because if your morning is
- 1:08messed up, then everything else tends to be going downhill from
- 1:13there because we stay in that state that we put ourselves in.
- 1:16So if we have an intense morning and that morning is just, you
- 1:22know, you wake up, there's a problem right away, you get an
- 1:24e-mail that's a problem, you have issues right away.
- 1:28That will be one of those times where you instantaneously take
- 1:31that energy with yourself into the next act, whether it's
- 1:35getting the kids up, whether it's doing something else
- 1:38instantaneously, You have that going with you.
- 1:41And often times it's really, really hard to shift it because
- 1:47you're you're stuck. Essentially.
- 1:49You're stuck in that moment. You're like frozen, if you will,
- 1:53emotionally because you're not paying attention.
- 1:57That's the very first thing when you wake up.
- 1:58Typically we're just in go mode and we're saying what have I got
- 2:02to get done today? And we've some of us make our to
- 2:05do lists in the morning. Some of us make our to do lists
- 2:08in the after, you know, afternoon, late in the day
- 2:12before. So we have it when we wake up,
- 2:15but most of us tend to wake up and we're only thinking about
- 2:18what we have to do. We're not thinking about any of
- 2:21the other stuff to take care of ourselves.
- 2:23We're just focused on this little tiny piece of, you know,
- 2:26got to get going, got to get going.
- 2:28I got a lot to do today. Can't tell you how many times.
- 2:31I myself will say, OK, I got a lot to do today, But the problem
- 2:35is if I'm only focused on what I have to do, I'm not focused on
- 2:39who I'm being. So having these little
- 2:42recordings to myself really help me.
- 2:46So if I have, if you, if you have any sort of phone that's
- 2:52not from, you know, 1802, you can open it up and in your
- 2:56utilities you have a voice text app.
- 3:01And this is exactly how I record the podcast.
- 3:05Believe it or not I use my voice text so much I found that it was
- 3:09super easy just to use it for the podcast too.
- 3:12So I come, I have a whole series of little ones that stay in my
- 3:17phone that are just messages to myself that I use.
- 3:22So if I'm off, if I'm off track, if I'm off base, if I'm not
- 3:27tracking in a way that I want to, if my energy is going
- 3:31downhill, if I'm feeling frustrated, if I'm in between
- 3:34sessions, if, if people coach with me, they know I'm like, I
- 3:38keep my sessions really tight because I like to stay in flow
- 3:42and in mode I don't. I don't like to take breaks,
- 3:44actually, because it throws me off.
- 3:46And then I can't, you know, I'm so in the moment, I can't get
- 3:49back into flow quickly. So I like to keep it pretty
- 3:53tight. But if I've got a couple seconds
- 3:55in between, or if I've had a session where it's been very
- 3:57emotional with a client, I have a message in my voice memos
- 4:02where I can listen to myself, talk to myself and give myself a
- 4:07pep talk, if you will. A feedback, something to focus
- 4:11on instead of what I have been focusing on.
- 4:13And I can't begin to tell you the magic it creates because it
- 4:16shifts you right away. Another piece of the puzzle is
- 4:20that your brain is wired to believe your voice to be true.
- 4:24So when you're talking to yourself, whether it's good or
- 4:27bad, whether it's positive or negative, your brain believes
- 4:30you. So when you say, oh God, I'm so
- 4:32frustrated, I'm so stupid. Even if you just say this in
- 4:35your head, your brain believes that to be true.
- 4:38That's why it's so hard to shift out of things.
- 4:41And the beautiful thing is, it also believes it in reverse.
- 4:45So if you're able to record messages to yourself when you
- 4:50are feeling good and you know you're in a great state and you
- 4:54talk to yourself, then all of a sudden you listen to that
- 4:58message and it changes everything.
- 5:00So I'll give you an example. If you're a parent and you're
- 5:03you get frustrated with your kids and you know that you have
- 5:07certain hot button issues like homework, that's always an
- 5:12something in our house that triggers things.
- 5:15You can have a little message that you record to yourself and
- 5:18you can talk about that and say like, let's say your name is
- 5:20Sally. You can say, hey Sally, listen,
- 5:24homework is going to start in about 30 minutes.
- 5:26You know that this is going to be awesome if you stay calm and
- 5:31focused. So I want you to go in there.
- 5:32I want you to be super centered. I want you to be calm.
- 5:35I want you to have the snacks ready, pencil sharpened, sit
- 5:38down, put on good music for the kids to listen to and get
- 5:41everything in the way that they you know they can thrive and you
- 5:45can thrive. And remember, take the High
- 5:48Road, stay calm, No yelling. Give yourself this little, this
- 5:53little thing, and then play it beforehand.
- 5:55When you're talking to yourself, you actually listen.
- 5:57I have them for all different things in my phone.
- 5:59I have them for, like I said, in between sessions.
- 6:01I have them for things. If I'm irritated with my
- 6:03husband, I can go and listen to one that I have talking to me
- 6:07about all the things I love about him.
- 6:09And instantaneously it it reminds me and puts me in a
- 6:13state of letting go of whatever stupid thing happened that we
- 6:17might be arguing about. And then I can easily go right
- 6:20back to feeling great. So today I would like you to
- 6:24make some recordings for yourself that you can listen to,
- 6:28and that morning recording is probably the most important of
- 6:32all of them. So when you get up, you can talk
- 6:34to yourself and say, I'm out here starting my day strong.
- 6:39And I'm focused because I listened to my morning recording
- 6:42that told me when I wake up. Hey Kim, you just got out of
- 6:45bed. It's time to get into that right
- 6:47state of mind. Remember, you're focused on
- 6:49effortless abundance. You're focused on being the best
- 6:52person you can be in kindness, happiness, love and joy.
- 6:56That's one of mine, by the way, in case you're interested.
- 6:58So I can listen to that and I can listen to it over and over
- 7:02and over again if I need to. You can make them as short as
- 7:05you want and as long as you want.
- 7:06Just make them, make them go. Do it today.
- 7:09Make yourself one. Just try one and see how it
- 7:11works. All right guys, I hope you have
- 7:12a great day and I will see you tomorrow.
- 7:14Bye.
