- 0:00Did you miss me? Because I missed you. So welcome
- 0:04back to the Living Freed Podcast Season 2. I
- 0:27know. I know. And we took the longest break ever.
- 0:32But let's be so real, it was needed. While I
- 0:35was gone preparing for season two, I moved. I
- 0:39had a birthday, which was fabulous, by the way.
- 0:41Thank you for asking. Your girl is now 29. I
- 0:45made new friends, traveled with Serena. We went
- 0:49to San Diego. It was phenomenal. Finally, y 'all,
- 0:54I... Finally got to go to the San Diego Zoo.
- 0:56Loved it. Now, is the North Carolina Zoo better?
- 1:00Yes, yes it is. It's a hundred times better,
- 1:03but I really did enjoy the San Diego Zoo. It
- 1:06was definitely one of the cooler zoos I've been
- 1:08to, so 10 out of 10 recommend going. And they
- 1:11have pandas, so you have to. One out of two zoos
- 1:14in the whole country, you gotta go see the pandas,
- 1:16you know? I got to see old friends. Cassidy came
- 1:20into town from Oregon. Clara came into town from
- 1:24England. Um, it has been great getting to catch
- 1:28up with old friends and then alas, I did have
- 1:32to end a friendship. It happens, you know? Every
- 1:37once in a while in life, it throws you a curve
- 1:39ball and you realize, mmm, I need better friends.
- 1:43So I ended a friendship. I spent quite a lot
- 1:46of time with Jesus. I went to weddings. got grounded
- 1:50in the word and in my life, which we all know
- 1:53I needed, made big decisions, gave this podcast
- 1:57a facelift, and now I'm stepping into what I
- 2:02hope is my soft girl era. Now, what does that
- 2:05mean? I'm not 100 % sure yet, except I'm going
- 2:09to be focusing personally on living a little
- 2:12bit of a softer lifestyle, not hustling so hard,
- 2:16not grinding so much. Just, I don't know, I'm
- 2:21already going with the flow, but just being a
- 2:22little softer and being more intentional to be
- 2:26soft and not so harsh and heading life so head
- 2:30on, as I typically do. In season one, you met
- 2:34me at 28, living my coastal life in Wilmington,
- 2:38North Carolina, and now I'm still here. But like
- 2:42I said, I'm now 29 and possibly preparing to
- 2:46move. I know, dun dun dun. But don't worry, I'll
- 2:51still be coastal, just in a different state.
- 2:54Um, it would take Jesus himself to come down
- 2:59and move me away from the beach. Knock on wood.
- 3:03But listen, listen, I love where I live. I love
- 3:08my friends here. I love my family is so close
- 3:12by. And I love my job. But I believe it's time
- 3:17for a little bit of a change. I prayed about
- 3:20my next step. Definitely not thinking it was
- 3:22going to be moving out of state and out of town.
- 3:26Turns out it's moving out of state and out of
- 3:28town. How did that happen? You may ask. Well,
- 3:32quite a long time ago, I got a phone call and
- 3:34it was Serena saying I had a dream. They moved
- 3:37to Florida. And I said, that's a crazy dream.
- 3:40I personally would never move to Florida. And
- 3:43then I went and stayed with her in Florida. And
- 3:46I thought, I could never live here. And I was
- 3:48standing in her kitchen, overlooking the living
- 3:51room on day three, making pasta. I thought, maybe
- 3:55I could live here. And then I went home and I
- 3:58saw my mom. And my mom told me that she had had
- 4:00a dream that I asked her to lunch, which I had
- 4:03just done. And that I told her I was moving to
- 4:05Florida. And that's when I was like, oh, okay.
- 4:10And then my sister called me after listening
- 4:12to one of my podcast episodes and said, I think
- 4:14you should move to Florida." And I said, that
- 4:17is crazy. And then, you know, sitting in church
- 4:21one day saying, Jesus, I just love my church.
- 4:25I can't move to Florida. I love my church. Why
- 4:28would I leave my church and my job? And Jesus
- 4:32pointed to me that my church is a cult, in fact,
- 4:35at that time, heavily a part of a cult, putting
- 4:39man's desires first before God and being very
- 4:42controlling. So that was another check off my
- 4:45box. And then honestly, y 'all being single in
- 4:49Wilmington, it's just not for the week. And I
- 4:52do dream of being a wife and a mom one day. So
- 4:54I have to get out of this toxic pond and maybe
- 4:57go swim in a different pond and hopefully, hopefully,
- 5:00hopefully, hopefully just get clarity on if I
- 5:03need to keep dreaming or if I just need to shut
- 5:06that dream down and move on and be the next Lisa
- 5:10Harper. Well. Not Lisa Harper, obviously, even
- 5:13though I love her. I just think her life is cool.
- 5:15She's single She's old and she adopted a daughter
- 5:17and I think she's pretty dope Um, and then who
- 5:22wouldn't truly who wouldn't want to do life with
- 5:25their best friend of 20 plus years? Honestly,
- 5:28like that sounds kind of magical Even if it's
- 5:31for a little while you if I try it for a year
- 5:33and I decide I hate Florida get me out of here
- 5:35then Then I can change my mind. I have the freedom
- 5:39to do so I do think it's important once we get
- 5:42through the first quarter of the year to evaluate
- 5:45where we are and where we want to be going. Are
- 5:49we on course or do we need to switch directions?
- 5:52And that, my friends, is exactly what I've been
- 5:54doing, evaluating and switching course. But enough
- 5:59about me. Let me tell you what to expect from
- 6:02season two of the Living Freed podcast. One.
- 6:06I'm launching a new segment that will be focusing
- 6:09on the breakdown of theology. We are all going
- 6:12to simplify the heck out of it and make it easier
- 6:16to digest for the girlies. Two, we're going to
- 6:21have more frequent speakers on here and more
- 6:24to tell about that soon, but I think you're gonna
- 6:27love it. Three, we're still going to be touching
- 6:31on subjects our church avoids and don't speaks
- 6:34enough about. And four, we will still be going
- 6:38through the genealogy of Jesus and all of that.
- 6:41For what? To remind us how to be living freed.
- 6:44Once again, living because of the here and now,
- 6:47the present, and the intention of action. Freed
- 6:50because it's already been accomplished. You just
- 6:53have to choose to treat it as so. We have to
- 6:56choose to live as someone freed and not just
- 6:58wait to feel free. It's so easy for us to fall
- 7:01into patterns of life. Get weighed down, overwhelmed,
- 7:05or just life becomes mundane. And Jesus warns
- 7:08us of that in Luke chapter 21. I want you to
- 7:12live free from the chains of the world and from
- 7:14the legalism of the church. Be free from the
- 7:17chains of how you're expected to act, dress,
- 7:20plan your future, speak, fears or lies that you
- 7:23may believe. I want you to know God's character
- 7:26so well and what his word says when the enemy
- 7:29tries to weigh you down with a chain. You know
- 7:32truth and how to live free in it. My goal for
- 7:35this season is you hear not just me talk about
- 7:38the chains I've been set free from or that I've
- 7:41witnessed others be set free from, but that you
- 7:44continue to hear story after story. I want you
- 7:47to hear hot topics discussed between friends,
- 7:50girly conversations that you can only experience
- 7:53between besties. I want you to hear the good,
- 7:56the bad of our lives, that we aren't perfect
- 7:58because, well, we are all being sanctified. and
- 8:03sanctification is a never -ending process. Listen,
- 8:07listen, we're all learning, right? This is everyone's
- 8:09first time on this earth, even though it definitely
- 8:12doesn't feel that way for some of us. No one
- 8:15here expects you to be perfect, trust me. Out
- 8:18there in your world, maybe people do. I know
- 8:22the world I lived in where people did, but here
- 8:25in our short time together, we don't expect that
- 8:28from you and trust me, Don't expect it from me
- 8:30either because girl, I am human and I will let
- 8:33you down. We are here to do life, to not be perfect.
- 8:36Even though we would all love to be, we are here
- 8:40to live and love like Jesus, not to try and be
- 8:43Jesus. Be ready to keep hearing the good, the
- 8:46bad, the beautiful, and the ugly. No one here
- 8:50is going to misrepresent the life they live because
- 8:53we have no one to impress. God already knows
- 8:55my skeletons and where they are. or are no longer
- 8:59buried deep down in the back of my closet. Listen
- 9:03y 'all, life is already too difficult. Life isn't
- 9:06easy. But why do you allow church culture and
- 9:09the world culture to make it even harder? You
- 9:12weren't called to live this way and it's time
- 9:14you let Jesus set you free and actually start
- 9:18living. There were times when I was weighed down
- 9:20by the ideas that people had of me and you heard
- 9:23me talk about that story. in episode 11 titled
- 9:26If The Mask Fits, Wear It in Season 1. I was
- 9:30weighed down by ideas of what modesty was, not
- 9:33having healthy boundaries, keeping deep dark
- 9:35secrets, and heck, even generational curses.
- 9:40So are you ready? Let's dive in and talk about
- 9:43everyday struggles, the deep late night car combos
- 9:46you have with your friends, and now with my bestie
- 9:49Serena, we might have some heated combos and
- 9:52laughs along the way. We will talk about boundaries,
- 9:55healing from past traumas, hurt or heartbreak,
- 9:58and living free with Jesus and what exactly that
- 10:01looks like. I hope you've decided to come along
- 10:03for the journey. you
