- 0:04Speaker 1: This is the Patriots Catch twenty two podcasts with Evan
- 0:07Speaker 1: Lazar and Alex Barth Blazar and Lazarre. Hello, everybody nailed it.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Joined us always buy our gap. Here is Evan Lazar
- 0:19Speaker 1: and Alex bars. We are going to do our guys,
- 0:23Speaker 1: my guys at every position. We have every position written down. Now,
- 0:27Speaker 1: some positions we might go a little bit faster through
- 0:29Speaker 1: than others because they're not huge positions of need for
- 0:32Speaker 1: the Patriots.
- 0:33Speaker 2: But yeah, specialty not right down there there is.
- 0:37Speaker 1: We might need to do punters. They're not going to
- 0:38Speaker 1: take a kicker along sid, but I do have We're
- 0:41Speaker 1: gonna need do a quick stop and you can do
- 0:44Speaker 1: a quick stuff on bunker. Yeah I will, because they
- 0:46Speaker 1: need one and they might draft one. Okay, cover the
- 0:48Speaker 1: whole team and then you can do that. And then
- 0:50Speaker 1: I'll sit here and nod my head and say, Okay,
- 0:52Speaker 1: what Alex said, that's that's also my guy at punter.
- 1:00Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure that's exactly what I did. You said, Stonehouse,
- 1:03Speaker 1: stackhouse whatever, seuse. Yeah. I was like, yeah, that's it.
- 1:06Speaker 1: That's the guy right there.
- 1:08Speaker 3: I totally know everything about him and watched him punt
- 1:11Speaker 3: footballs all that kind of stuff.
- 1:13Speaker 1: We did all that? All right, Well, hello everybody, I
- 1:17Speaker 1: have Lazar Alex Barth. I am fighting off a cold. Ace.
- 1:21Speaker 3: I'm fighting off a cold right now. You can probably
- 1:23Speaker 3: hear it a little bit in my voice.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Yeah, we can hear. The timber of your voice is
- 1:27Speaker 2: much more agreeable.
- 1:28Speaker 3: Yeah, there you go. So maybe I should just be sick.
- 1:31Speaker 3: Tried to start ripping butts and that was yeah that
- 1:34Speaker 3: way there. My voice sounds like this all the time. Yes, absolutely,
- 1:37Speaker 3: I agree that that's a nice Marine joke. Marine likes
- 1:40Speaker 3: to make fun of me for that that my voice
- 1:42Speaker 3: drops when I get sick.
- 1:43Speaker 1: I know, very funny, everybody. Anyways, So hopefully my voice
- 1:48Speaker 1: holds up for this entire show. I'm going to do
- 1:50Speaker 1: my best, but we have a good show here.
- 1:53Speaker 3: Today we're going to talk about Elliott Wolfe's pre draft
- 1:56Speaker 3: press conference a lot of tidbits.
- 1:58Speaker 1: I really like how Elliot Will does press conferences.
- 2:01Speaker 3: I don't know if it's necessarily it might be a
- 2:05Speaker 3: little bit too revealing to some good for us, especially
- 2:08Speaker 3: when you come off you know, the Bill Belichick years
- 2:11Speaker 3: to a guy that actually will tell you how it is.
- 2:14Speaker 3: But I really like it because most of the time.
- 2:18Speaker 3: I feel like his answers Alex are very common sense answers.
- 2:21Speaker 3: I don't feel like they're trying to overthink things or
- 2:23Speaker 3: over complicate things.
- 2:25Speaker 1: When it comes to the draft.
- 2:26Speaker 3: And one of my takeaways from it, and I had
- 2:28Speaker 3: another big picture takeaway too, but one of my main
- 2:31Speaker 3: takeaways from it was I just don't feel like they're
- 2:35Speaker 3: gonna do something that is totally at a left field
- 2:39Speaker 3: at the top of the draft, because I don't feel
- 2:41Speaker 3: like that's how Elliott Wolf drafts. I don't think that
- 2:44Speaker 3: that's how he was raised and brought up in the
- 2:47Speaker 3: Green Bay system to give us a Cold Strange or
- 2:51Speaker 3: a Jordan Richards or any of the million names that
- 2:55Speaker 3: Bill Belichick gave us at the top of the draft
- 2:57Speaker 3: that made you go, huh, they drafted who and from where?
- 3:01Speaker 3: And I think a big reason that I like that
- 3:05Speaker 3: so much is because when I look across the landscape
- 3:10Speaker 3: of the league, I feel like the teams that are
- 3:12Speaker 3: the best at drafting are the ones that generally go
- 3:16Speaker 3: with brand recognition.
- 3:19Speaker 1: The Eagles. Did the Eagles ever draft anybody outside the
- 3:22Speaker 1: SEC or like, No, they no, they hit a big program, they.
- 3:26Speaker 3: Go to Georgia Defense, Alabama defense. Right, they drafted Jihad
- 3:31Speaker 3: Campbell last year out of Alabama.
- 3:34Speaker 1: They hit the they played the hits, Baltimore, Baltimore. They
- 3:38Speaker 1: never overthink the draft.
- 3:39Speaker 3: They got Kyle Hamilton at like fourteen, Right, everybody overthought
- 3:43Speaker 3: Kyle Hamilton. They are worried about the athletic profile, even
- 3:47Speaker 3: though he might have had the best tape in the
- 3:48Speaker 3: draft that year.
- 3:49Speaker 1: What do the Ravens do?
- 3:50Speaker 3: They say, ha, all you dummies were taking Kyle Hamilton
- 3:54Speaker 3: and who Kyle Hamilton's maybe the best safety in football?
- 3:57Speaker 1: Right, Like that's what the these people do. The Rams.
- 4:00Speaker 1: The Rams are another MS Excellent or another one of
- 4:03Speaker 1: those teams. You sit there and you over you know,
- 4:06Speaker 1: everybody is like Jared Verse, you know, right, good example.
- 4:10Speaker 3: You know some things that we don't love about him.
- 4:12Speaker 3: He falls to the Rams. All pro caliber player.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Right, those are the best teams that do this at
- 4:18Speaker 1: the highest level.
- 4:19Speaker 3: It doesn't mean it's perfect, that it's not inexact, you know,
- 4:21Speaker 3: it's always an inexact science.
- 4:22Speaker 1: It doesn't mean they're a hit rate is one hundred percent.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Nobody's is.
- 4:26Speaker 3: But the teams that are the best at drafting are
- 4:28Speaker 3: the teams that I feel like, don't overcomplicate things and
- 4:32Speaker 3: don't get too caught up in their own evaluation of
- 4:36Speaker 3: the players.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Scheme fit, culture fit.
- 4:39Speaker 3: I'll give you a couple of examples Famlia Wolf. Then
- 4:42Speaker 3: we can kind of start big and zoom in as
- 4:45Speaker 3: we go. Here he mentioned speed off the edge. If
- 4:50Speaker 3: you just looked at the Patriots current edge depth chart,
- 4:53Speaker 3: the class and the way the class seems to be
- 4:55Speaker 3: lining up for the most part, speed off the edge
- 4:59Speaker 3: is exactly what we've been saying. And I'm not patting
- 5:01Speaker 3: ourselves on the back. It's just common sense. It's just
- 5:04Speaker 3: something they don't have. Yeah, and it was common sense
- 5:07Speaker 3: that they needed to add more juice in the pass rush.
- 5:09Speaker 1: And so what does he get up there and.
- 5:11Speaker 3: Say, Yeah, if we were probably gonna, you know, want
- 5:14Speaker 3: to add speed off the edge Day three linebacker. I've
- 5:19Speaker 3: been saying it, a lot of people have been saying it.
- 5:21Speaker 1: It feels like the sweet.
- 5:22Speaker 3: Spot for them at linebacker is somewhere in the third
- 5:25Speaker 3: or fourth round.
- 5:26Speaker 1: It starts there.
- 5:27Speaker 3: I think that drafting a linebacker earlier than that is
- 5:30Speaker 3: probably not necessary.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Just from a need standpoint.
- 5:33Speaker 3: And I also think the talent in this draft is
- 5:35Speaker 3: really a middle round talent draft at that position. What's
- 5:39Speaker 3: he say, a lot of good linebackers on Day three? Yep,
- 5:42Speaker 3: we probably could target to the day three linebacker here.
- 5:45Speaker 3: It just is refreshing to have somebody that approaches it
- 5:48Speaker 3: that way. The other thing that I wanted to present
- 5:50Speaker 3: to you that I find fascinating about this draft as
- 5:53Speaker 3: we get closer, I know that he wants the butt
- 5:56Speaker 3: in there. I know he wants the butt, he said.
- 5:58Speaker 3: The butt is that if we do our jobs, we're
- 6:00Speaker 3: still going to draft good football players. This is not
- 6:03Speaker 3: to say that this draft has no good football players.
- 6:06Speaker 3: But the more that the closer that we get to
- 6:09Speaker 3: the draft, the more I feel two things are true.
- 6:12Speaker 1: It's a down year. I don't think this is a
- 6:14Speaker 1: great draft.
- 6:15Speaker 3: This is probably more a singles and doubles draft than
- 6:18Speaker 3: it is a home run draft. That doesn't mean that
- 6:20Speaker 3: there's not going to be any guys that you know,
- 6:23Speaker 3: you hit out of the park, right, but just in
- 6:26Speaker 3: terms of the margins and things like that, it's really
- 6:28Speaker 3: feels like a singles and doubles draft. The other thing
- 6:30Speaker 3: I saw this morning from Peter Schrager. He said that
- 6:33Speaker 3: a general manager texted him and said, throw out positional
- 6:36Speaker 3: value in a draft like this. You know, I'm a
- 6:38Speaker 3: big positional value guy. I especially in the first round.
- 6:43Speaker 3: If I was a GM, and maybe I'd be bad
- 6:44Speaker 3: at it probably would be. But if I was a GM,
- 6:47Speaker 3: I'm drafting quarterback, left tackle, receiver, edge rusher, outside corner.
- 6:53Speaker 3: Like those are the only five positions that I'm drafting
- 6:56Speaker 3: in the first round of an NFL draft. I just
- 6:58Speaker 3: think that the positional value, you the surplus value when
- 7:01Speaker 3: you look at the contract of how good it is
- 7:04Speaker 3: for your team to have players at those premium positions
- 7:07Speaker 3: on rookie deals, you know, all those different types of things.
- 7:10Speaker 1: The value is just at those spots.
- 7:12Speaker 3: But in a draft like this, when there's not a
- 7:14Speaker 3: ton of talent at the top of the draft, you
- 7:17Speaker 3: just kind of have to gravitate towards the best player
- 7:19Speaker 3: available in some respect, right because there's just not enough
- 7:24Speaker 3: good players to be picky.
- 7:26Speaker 1: And say, well, I'll give you another example.
- 7:30Speaker 3: Caden McDonald, the kid from Ohio State, the nose tackle.
- 7:36Speaker 3: I would normally sit here and say, I am not
- 7:39Speaker 3: drafting a nose tackle in the first round, especially one
- 7:41Speaker 3: that doesn't really rush the passer. He's a run stuffing
- 7:44Speaker 3: nose tackle. It's very good at it, but that's what
- 7:46Speaker 3: he does. I normally would sit here and say, Nope,
- 7:50Speaker 3: not doing that. But in a draft like this, you
- 7:54Speaker 3: pass on a guy like McDonald and you draft the
- 7:56Speaker 3: seventh best tackle in the draft instead, you might end
- 8:01Speaker 3: up doing the wrong.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Thing right, You might end up overdrafting a player.
- 8:05Speaker 3: So my question is to you, how do you feel
- 8:09Speaker 3: about this draft as a whole. Because Elliott Wolf, even
- 8:12Speaker 3: though he had his disclaimer and he had his butt
- 8:15Speaker 3: in there, he flat out said at the podium on
- 8:18Speaker 3: Monday that compared to recent years, this is a down year.
- 8:22Speaker 1: This is not a very good draft. Yeah. Do you
- 8:24Speaker 1: feel the same way the last time we had a
- 8:28Speaker 1: good draft Drake May's draft. Okay, Drake May's draft was loaded.
- 8:33Speaker 1: I just feel like the quarterbacks alt neighbors Marvin Harrison.
- 8:38Speaker 1: I feel like every year the draft never gets better
- 8:42Speaker 1: as you go through the process. The way we look
- 8:44Speaker 1: at a draft in September compared to how we look
- 8:48Speaker 1: at it on April first, I can't remember a year
- 8:52Speaker 1: of Wow, this draft is better than I thought, because
- 8:56Speaker 1: you're still kinda in that boy nice mindset, like you're
- 9:01Speaker 1: just looking at Okay, who's like the good players and
- 9:04Speaker 1: you're not necessarily even digging into them, and then as
- 9:06Speaker 1: the process goes on, you obviously do that. You take
- 9:08Speaker 1: a deeper look, and you get you learn more about them,
- 9:10Speaker 1: and so I don't think it's it's it's an unbelievable draft.
- 9:15Speaker 1: I mean, I think it's about last year's so maybe
- 9:18Speaker 1: a little better than last year's. Now, some people might
- 9:20Speaker 1: say that's not saying much. Yeah, that would be fair.
- 9:23Speaker 1: I do think there's more. This draft is better in
- 9:27Speaker 1: the middle. Yeah, like the thirty to eighty, the forty
- 9:31Speaker 1: to eighty range I think is better than last year.
- 9:33Speaker 1: Last year that range we're we're all kind of blended together,
- 9:36Speaker 1: was like twenty to fifty. This year, I think that
- 9:39Speaker 1: range a little wider, but it's a little later. So
- 9:43Speaker 1: you're right, Drake Madea's draft was very good, Like we
- 9:45Speaker 1: haven't had one of those. But I do think in
- 9:48Speaker 1: the middle rounds is where you're gonna make your impact here.
- 9:50Speaker 1: That's what's gonna separate the teams that end out end
- 9:52Speaker 1: up coming out with good drafts. And the positional value
- 9:55Speaker 1: thing is spot on. I mean, the best, the best
- 9:58Speaker 1: overall players in this draft if we're going to do
- 10:00Speaker 1: the best player available fallacy, which is truly who are
- 10:04Speaker 1: the best? You should just take the best players on
- 10:06Speaker 1: the board. Sure, it's Jeremiah Love, It's Caleb Downs. Yeah,
- 10:12Speaker 1: it's Ione from Penn State, the guard good player, you know,
- 10:16Speaker 1: I like Dylan I mean in two like it's even
- 10:19Speaker 1: like a spencer.
- 10:19Speaker 3: Fanel might be an interior player, right, I think a
- 10:23Speaker 3: lot of teams are are gonna keep him at tackle,
- 10:25Speaker 3: but he might be a guarter, even a center.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Yeah, it would this all some of the top corners.
- 10:32Speaker 1: I know, corners a premium position, but like outside of Delaney,
- 10:35Speaker 1: who is are very good. Yeah, I mean three the
- 10:38Speaker 1: top five for the top six corners might be slot corners. Right,
- 10:43Speaker 1: so there's you know something there. Terrell might play on
- 10:45Speaker 1: the inside, Hood might play on the inside. Ponds. I'm
- 10:49Speaker 1: fascinated see what happens with teams little Ponds, who I
- 10:51Speaker 1: think could be a sneaky first round pick. Jermal McCoy
- 10:54Speaker 1: has his own questions, like he's a good player at a
- 10:56Speaker 1: premium position, but he hasn't. He tours ACL last January
- 11:00Speaker 1: and was still dealing with it at the combine. It's
- 11:04Speaker 1: it's just there's the premium position thing is the biggest
- 11:07Speaker 1: takeaway to make the two best players in this draft
- 11:09Speaker 1: just Madden rating right, Yes, are probably Caleb Downs and
- 11:13Speaker 1: Jeremiah Love. Yeah, and frankly, if you want me dozes
- 11:16Speaker 1: really good, Mendoz is up there. Yeah. I was gonna say,
- 11:18Speaker 1: if you want to throw in a guy who might
- 11:19Speaker 1: be third, it might be Sunny Styles, who's an off
- 11:21Speaker 1: ball linebacker. Yeah. So and characterizes Rvel Reaps right, Yeah,
- 11:25Speaker 1: and then you have the whole rvel Resa Well, but
- 11:27Speaker 1: then the other thing is, so r VL rec what
- 11:29Speaker 1: position does he play? Yeah, you look at the top
- 11:31Speaker 1: pass rushers. Ruben Bain is an arm length question, like
- 11:34Speaker 1: he would have what is it the shortest arms draft
- 11:35Speaker 1: in the first round since two thousand and three at
- 11:37Speaker 1: that position, something like that. David Bailey's kind of bidden
- 11:40Speaker 1: all over the place, just sort of popped one year. Yeah. Yeah,
- 11:44Speaker 1: It's just it's kind of like last year. There's gonna
- 11:46Speaker 1: be guys at the top of question marks.
- 11:48Speaker 3: I think the difference between this year and last year
- 11:50Speaker 3: to me are last year you at least had Travis
- 11:53Speaker 3: Hunter and Abdul Carter, who I think we're genuine blue
- 11:57Speaker 3: chip prospects and Travis Hunter time didn't have a great
- 12:01Speaker 3: rookie year. Abdul Carter's the the efficiency metrics and like
- 12:04Speaker 3: all the advanced stuff.
- 12:05Speaker 1: Loved his. He has one sack, I know, but he
- 12:08Speaker 1: had like fifty pressures one sack. I know, but we
- 12:11Speaker 1: know now that pressures is a different animal. Like we
- 12:14Speaker 1: had pressure raids, we have wind raids and show total pressures. No,
- 12:19Speaker 1: I mean I think that you're that's fair. I'm not
- 12:22Speaker 1: saying that he came out and was Lawrence Taylor, but
- 12:25Speaker 1: where where when he played he looked good, Baine Bailey,
- 12:29Speaker 1: I have Abdul Carter higher than all those guys really, yeah, okay, yeah,
- 12:34Speaker 1: because just his speed and his ability to win in
- 12:37Speaker 1: multiple ways. I think it's just better like that.
- 12:40Speaker 3: That being said, I full disclaimer, I haven't watched with
- 12:44Speaker 3: Ruben Bain as much as I watched.
- 12:47Speaker 1: This is kind of my point, like, because this is
- 12:49Speaker 1: what we do. You sort of know those guys for
- 12:51Speaker 1: the highlights, because that's what you see when you do
- 12:52Speaker 1: it briefly, and yeah, as you dig it, usually it
- 12:55Speaker 1: gets worse as you did it. You've seen Bane, you know,
- 12:58Speaker 1: obviously I had to watch him as a door or
- 13:00Speaker 1: I had to watch your guy Jacobe Thomas at safety,
- 13:03Speaker 1: like you watch that defense. Oh you watch Dacobe Thomas.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I've watched the Kobe Thomas a while ago.
- 13:07Speaker 1: Oh this what we talked about. Yeah, I just all
- 13:10Speaker 1: these guys. You know, you watch that Miami defense over
- 13:13Speaker 1: and over and over again, and you start to pick
- 13:15Speaker 1: up a little bit of what Ruben Bane's putting down.
- 13:18Speaker 1: But I haven't done a deep dive on the top
- 13:20Speaker 1: of the draft like I did last year. But Travis
- 13:22Speaker 1: Hunter not a great rookie season. I'll give you that.
- 13:25Speaker 1: But well we we and not to pat ourselves on
- 13:28Speaker 1: the back, we said at the time he wasn't realistically
- 13:29Speaker 1: even to be able to play both positions right.
- 13:31Speaker 3: And so you know, maybe he goes to corner full time.
- 13:34Speaker 3: I would say I was probably whether you know, depending
- 13:38Speaker 3: on which way you want to put it too low
- 13:40Speaker 3: on Tet McMillan or Tet macmillan exceeded expectations. Either way,
- 13:44Speaker 3: I think Teed McMillan was probably better than I thought
- 13:46Speaker 3: he was. He had a really good rookie season. Campbell
- 13:49Speaker 3: whent healthy was solid, Demboo was good for the Jets.
- 13:52Speaker 3: It just didn't matter because he played for the Jets, right,
- 13:55Speaker 3: Nobody knew about it. So I think that there's there
- 13:59Speaker 3: was more of that kind of talent last year. I
- 14:02Speaker 3: think this year too, and then we can move on
- 14:04Speaker 3: from this point. Rville Reeves might be pound for pound,
- 14:08Speaker 3: the best player, most talented player in the draft this year,
- 14:12Speaker 3: besides maybe Jeremiah Love I think is probably on that
- 14:15Speaker 3: list too, But the hybridness of his skill set. If
- 14:21Speaker 3: you're a team like I was thinking about this, I
- 14:23Speaker 3: thought next week, maybe we could do it our top ten.
- 14:26Speaker 1: I think we did that last year. I know the.
- 14:27Speaker 3: Patriots were picking, but I think it's a good exercise
- 14:31Speaker 3: still too. As draft knicks and draft fans. The if
- 14:36Speaker 3: you're the Jets and you have a coach that you're
- 14:39Speaker 3: still kind of on the fence about in Aaron Glenn,
- 14:42Speaker 3: are you going to give him this like project player
- 14:45Speaker 3: at the top of the draft that doesn't really have
- 14:47Speaker 3: a position, and it just it's dicey, right, And that's
- 14:52Speaker 3: why I think a lot of people for the Jets
- 14:54Speaker 3: at too, have narrowed in on Bailey because it's just
- 14:57Speaker 3: an easier projection, right, He's going to rush off the
- 15:00Speaker 3: and I don't have to worry about teaching them things
- 15:02Speaker 3: and all this different type of stuff. So it's one
- 15:04Speaker 3: of those drafts too, where I think that there's some
- 15:06Speaker 3: uncertainty of one hundred percent where guys are going to play.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Everybody's a huge fan of Caleb Downs. As people have
- 15:14Speaker 1: nitpicked Caleb Downs over the course of the process, there's
- 15:17Speaker 1: a lot of people that think that he's like more
- 15:19Speaker 1: of like a pure strong or box safety and not
- 15:22Speaker 1: a true deep safety. I'm not saying that.
- 15:24Speaker 3: That's necessarily true, but that's just what people are saying
- 15:27Speaker 3: about him. So if that's the case, like, you know,
- 15:32Speaker 3: do you feel great about that? You know, how do
- 15:34Speaker 3: you feel he fits your defense? Spencer Fino, we mentioned him.
- 15:37Speaker 3: You know, he might be an interior player, the tackle
- 15:40Speaker 3: from Miami. He's got a little bit shorter arms. He's
- 15:43Speaker 3: kind of like a Will Campbell.
- 15:44Speaker 1: You know, he's a little bit sought on, right, you know,
- 15:46Speaker 1: do you feel great about him sticking outside and playing tackle?
- 15:49Speaker 1: So just across the board there, I think there's some
- 15:51Speaker 1: question marks about not necessarily raw talent, but just where
- 15:55Speaker 1: a lot of these guys are going to play. Yeah,
- 15:57Speaker 1: which I think is also complicating things as well, back
- 16:01Speaker 1: to the Elliot Wolf of it all and the Patriots specifically,
- 16:05Speaker 1: the other just some of the specific things that he
- 16:07Speaker 1: mentioned that I took away from it. You know, the
- 16:10Speaker 1: Gonzales stuff, the AJ Brown stuff. I know that that's
- 16:14Speaker 1: you know what your station and stuff we're going to
- 16:15Speaker 1: talk the most about. I don't think that their answers
- 16:17Speaker 1: have changed at each checkpoint about any of that, So
- 16:22Speaker 1: I don't really have anything else to add I don't
- 16:23Speaker 1: know if you do.
- 16:24Speaker 3: You know, they keep saying the same things about Gonzales.
- 16:27Speaker 3: We want to get Christian Gonzalez to be here long term,
- 16:29Speaker 3: but as of right now, he's under contract, right so,
- 16:32Speaker 3: you know, that's the same thing AJ Brown. We would
- 16:35Speaker 3: be happy to upgrade the team in any way possible,
- 16:37Speaker 3: whether that's AJ Brown or a different player. The same
- 16:40Speaker 3: answer that Elliot Wolf has been given for three months.
- 16:42Speaker 3: So I don't really have much else to add on that.
- 16:45Speaker 3: The other thing I would say too, we still continue
- 16:50Speaker 3: to ask about Morgan Moses and whether or not he's
- 16:52Speaker 3: going to retire, and they keep on telling us he's
- 16:54Speaker 3: not retiring. So those three things, I felt like I
- 16:58Speaker 3: saw a lot of people's takeaways from the press conference,
- 17:01Speaker 3: and those couple of things were at the top. I
- 17:02Speaker 3: felt like that was the same answer that we've been
- 17:04Speaker 3: hearing all off season, So I don't have much else
- 17:06Speaker 3: to add.
- 17:06Speaker 1: No, Again, the big thing for me was just his
- 17:08Speaker 1: breakdown on the positions. Yeah, and the other the other
- 17:11Speaker 1: really interesting thing because we just sort of did this
- 17:14Speaker 1: the best player available versus drafting for need, and we've
- 17:20Speaker 1: both kind of been on that same line that like
- 17:22Speaker 1: both aren't you can do both? Yeah, but but claiming
- 17:27Speaker 1: you're just doing like nobody really ever drafts the best
- 17:30Speaker 1: player available, Yeah, and drafting for need just leads to
- 17:35Speaker 1: cold strange. Right, But he mentioned, all right, it's not
- 17:41Speaker 1: looking at players at positions you need, it's ruling out
- 17:44Speaker 1: players at positions you don't need. Yeah. That was a
- 17:46Speaker 1: unique That was it. I can't believe I never thought
- 17:49Speaker 1: of that. And yeah, I get it. To your point,
- 17:51Speaker 1: that's why he's doing it. We're not right that. Plus
- 17:54Speaker 1: the way he talked about some of those positions, right, Okay,
- 17:57Speaker 1: so they don't need a center. He straight up said
- 17:59Speaker 1: that we're talking right now like top one hundred. Yeah,
- 18:02Speaker 1: they don't need a center, they don't need a quarterback.
- 18:05Speaker 1: I'm going to say corner, but if they take a
- 18:08Speaker 1: corner with top pick, I mean it's going to be
- 18:12Speaker 1: you know, five alarm belt mishign Zalez for his future. Yeah.
- 18:16Speaker 1: They uh. He also mentioned Okay, so he doesn't like
- 18:23Speaker 1: the secondary class and there could be individual players that
- 18:26Speaker 1: maybe but doesn't like secondary class. Yeh, likes the linebackers.
- 18:29Speaker 1: On Day three, he said wide receiver and tight end
- 18:32Speaker 1: was better compared to previous years. It's been a couple
- 18:34Speaker 1: of down years in the draft at those positions. There's
- 18:37Speaker 1: a lot of people that really like this wide receiver class.
- 18:39Speaker 1: I'm gonna take those that as maybe he doesn't view
- 18:42Speaker 1: it super favorably.
- 18:43Speaker 3: It's interesting because I've heard that more and more as
- 18:48Speaker 3: the draft gets closer about this wide receiver. There's a
- 18:50Speaker 3: lot of people in the league that really like this.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Right, so maybe wide receiver, but also I'll throw this
- 18:54Speaker 1: in a wide receiver and this was part of the
- 18:56Speaker 1: take before you said that, Yeah, if they maybe potentially
- 18:58Speaker 1: know they're getting a J. Brown wide receiver position, they
- 19:01Speaker 1: do not need sure. Okay, so you take wide receiver
- 19:03Speaker 1: route mentioned linebackers on Day three, so you take that out,
- 19:07Speaker 1: so that leaves you with what he also happened to say,
- 19:10Speaker 1: were the two strongest positions in the draft the front
- 19:13Speaker 1: on offensive defense. Yeah, and I'll put edge rushers in.
- 19:16Speaker 1: I think he said edge rushers in there, so linebacker
- 19:22Speaker 1: or wide receiver put a little question mark on because
- 19:24Speaker 1: there's some unknown there. But likes the line in terms
- 19:31Speaker 1: of draft in terms of the position he doesn't like,
- 19:33Speaker 1: and the you know, not drafting players they don't need.
- 19:37Speaker 1: And then also just there isn't really a tight end
- 19:39Speaker 1: in that range in the draft. There isn't really a
- 19:41Speaker 1: running back in that range of the draft. I don't
- 19:42Speaker 1: think I mentioned those positions. That leaves you with offensive
- 19:45Speaker 1: defensive line, which is kind of where we've been since
- 19:47Speaker 1: the beginning. Maybe there wasn't a whole point, a whole
- 19:49Speaker 1: lot of point explaining all of that, as Felger pointed
- 19:51Speaker 1: out to me yesterday, But I it when he says it,
- 19:56Speaker 1: it's like, Okay, this is more than just me thinking it.
- 19:58Speaker 1: We're now actually getting insight into the way they view it. Yeah,
- 20:00Speaker 1: because they could view it. They always can view it
- 20:02Speaker 1: differently than us.
- 20:03Speaker 3: Yeah, And maybe you know, that's some of the reason
- 20:05Speaker 3: why I like how he conducts these press conferences because
- 20:08Speaker 3: I go into these press conferences hoping to either confirm
- 20:12Speaker 3: or deny my priors because I'm obviously not a professional.
- 20:16Speaker 3: I am not a scout, I'm not a general manager.
- 20:18Speaker 1: I have a general sense of what's going on with
- 20:20Speaker 1: this draft, but they obviously are the experts. So when
- 20:23Speaker 1: he says things like you just kind of you know,
- 20:26Speaker 1: went through and I'm like, yeah, that's kind of how
- 20:28Speaker 1: I see it too, Okay, good, then I might I
- 20:30Speaker 1: might be onto something there. You mentioned some of those
- 20:33Speaker 1: specific positions I want to get into. I want to
- 20:35Speaker 1: put names to those positions that he was talking about.
- 20:38Speaker 1: I think that's important to do as well, starting with
- 20:41Speaker 1: Edge Rusher. So he said that they would like to
- 20:45Speaker 1: get speed off the Edge to complement the group they
- 20:47Speaker 1: already had. They already have.
- 20:49Speaker 3: He talked a little bit about Draymont Jones being more
- 20:52Speaker 3: of a speed to power, you know, into inside outside,
- 20:56Speaker 3: move around the line type of guy I would assume,
- 21:00Speaker 3: you know, like to me, he said, you know, ponder Landry,
- 21:04Speaker 3: who was the last one?
- 21:05Speaker 1: He said, I think you mentioned three other guys, right,
- 21:08Speaker 1: ponder Landry, Draymond Jones, Draymond Jones. I thought you mentioned
- 21:11Speaker 1: one more. Anyway else is gonna mention, well maybe Swinson
- 21:15Speaker 1: or something.
- 21:16Speaker 3: So with Landry, I feel like Landry is a speed
- 21:19Speaker 3: off the Edge guy, but I don't. It kind of
- 21:21Speaker 3: made me think, Okay, maybe they are also a little
- 21:25Speaker 3: bit skeptical of what they're gonna get out of Harold
- 21:27Speaker 3: Landry in.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Twenty twenty six, just health wise. So when I hear
- 21:32Speaker 1: Speed off the Edge though, just to put some names
- 21:33Speaker 1: to it, these are the names to me that immediately
- 21:36Speaker 1: come to mind.
- 21:37Speaker 3: We can dissect them. We can also if you want
- 21:39Speaker 3: to add anybody, we can add anybody. So just taking
- 21:42Speaker 3: what Elliot Wolf.
- 21:43Speaker 1: Said seriously right, like, this is just well only the
- 21:48Speaker 1: number one thing we're drafting off of is Speed off
- 21:50Speaker 1: the Edge, Cashus Howel, which I think is a given
- 21:54Speaker 1: our Mason, Thomas Malki, Lawrence Ormelo, Height, Keon Crawford who
- 21:58Speaker 1: they just had in for thirty It the other day.
- 22:01Speaker 1: And I also put barm on it, just Sean Borrom
- 22:04Speaker 1: from Michigan. Yeah, Like to me, that feels like the
- 22:08Speaker 1: top one hundred board, like the guys that I would
- 22:11Speaker 1: put at the very top of the list.
- 22:13Speaker 3: Is there anybody that I missed? I mean, we can
- 22:15Speaker 3: talk a little bit about these guys individually. I think
- 22:17Speaker 3: we've talked about a bunch of them a lot. The
- 22:20Speaker 3: one guy that I am starting, you know, I was
- 22:22Speaker 3: high on at the beginning in February. Then you go
- 22:25Speaker 3: through the process and you kind of forget about guys,
- 22:27Speaker 3: and then you sort of get to this point at
- 22:29Speaker 3: the end. Rebello Height, I think is a guy that's
- 22:32Speaker 3: really interesting to me. He's undersized, it's only two hundred
- 22:35Speaker 3: and forty pounds.
- 22:36Speaker 1: But if they let's say they don't get the guys
- 22:39Speaker 1: they want in the first and second round, and let's
- 22:42Speaker 1: say that they're looking more in the third round range
- 22:45Speaker 1: for that edge rusher. I know Remelo Height's going to
- 22:47Speaker 1: be able to come into the NFL and rush the
- 22:48Speaker 1: passer on third down. I don't know if he's gonna
- 22:50Speaker 1: be able to play and run situations or all situations.
- 22:54Speaker 1: But if they just get to the point where, all right,
- 22:56Speaker 1: all those like well rounded guys that can do a
- 22:58Speaker 1: little bit of everything are kind of out of it
- 23:00Speaker 1: at this point, we just need somebody that can get
- 23:02Speaker 1: after the passer and bring speed off the edge.
- 23:05Speaker 3: Ramelo Heights seems to fit that. Is there anybody that
- 23:07Speaker 3: I missed that you think, you know they they would
- 23:10Speaker 3: be interested in in.
- 23:11Speaker 1: That mold or run through the names again that you said, Okay,
- 23:14Speaker 1: Howell R Mason, Thomas Malki, Lawrence Ramelo, Height, Keon Crawford, Borrow,
- 23:23Speaker 1: Jehaun Burrom Michigan. I think that's all speed guys.
- 23:28Speaker 3: So how do you feel about you know, because there's
- 23:32Speaker 3: a couple of guys that I was like, I don't
- 23:34Speaker 3: view these guys as speed guys, but maybe they feel
- 23:37Speaker 3: differently than I do. And the couple guys that I
- 23:39Speaker 3: thought of, TJ. Parker to me is still a power player.
- 23:43Speaker 3: Maybe twenty twenty four TJ Parker was had a little
- 23:45Speaker 3: bit more juice, but I feel like he's still kind
- 23:48Speaker 3: of a power player. DDS from Penn State is the
- 23:52Speaker 3: one that I I don't know what to do with
- 23:54Speaker 3: him because his athletic testing was off the charts good.
- 23:58Speaker 3: Most guys from Penn State test well well, they like
- 24:01Speaker 3: they have a thing with that. Yeah, he also didn't
- 24:03Speaker 3: do the agilities, which is the question.
- 24:05Speaker 1: How much did you watch of him in twenty twenty four? DDS? Yeah? None,
- 24:09Speaker 1: So that's the thing, like he just was a different
- 24:12Speaker 1: I don't know if he was hurt last year or something.
- 24:14Speaker 1: I thought his athleticism stood out more than twenty twenty four.
- 24:17Speaker 1: They d up dropping the coverage and he was handling it. Yeah,
- 24:19Speaker 1: but is he bendy? Does he turned the corner?
- 24:22Speaker 3: Is he got that ability to you know, win with
- 24:24Speaker 3: pure speed and get tackles pure speed.
- 24:28Speaker 1: No, but I think people are underrating his athleticism.
- 24:31Speaker 3: So I think there's a difference between athleticism and the
- 24:34Speaker 3: ability to rush the passer with speed off the edge.
- 24:37Speaker 1: Right.
- 24:38Speaker 3: So it's just like, I think TJ. Parker is pretty athlete.
- 24:40Speaker 3: He's definitely I think TJ. Parker can drop and do that.
- 24:44Speaker 1: It's definitely more of a power rusher. Yeah.
- 24:46Speaker 3: I just thought when I watched him, I thought he
- 24:48Speaker 3: was a little stiff, Like he was a little upright stiff.
- 24:51Speaker 3: His play style in general, it's not a perfect comp
- 24:54Speaker 3: because he's a better athlete coming out reminded me a
- 24:57Speaker 3: lot of Anthony Jennings, like just a type.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Of player that he was.
- 25:01Speaker 3: I don't know if I see necessarily speed so much
- 25:04Speaker 3: off the edge.
- 25:04Speaker 1: So that was my list.
- 25:05Speaker 3: My short list based off of what Elliot Wolf said
- 25:09Speaker 3: at Linebacker. He mentioned Day three linebackers, so based on
- 25:14Speaker 3: those comments, it sounds like Anthony Hill Junior, CJ. Allen,
- 25:18Speaker 3: Jacob Rodriguez. I would say those three maybe Golday like
- 25:22Speaker 3: slips to the end of the second round, and that
- 25:25Speaker 3: isn't necessarily, you know, a first round pick that you're
- 25:28Speaker 3: using at linebacker a top fifty pick. But it feels
- 25:31Speaker 3: like those three Hill, Junior, Rodriguez and Allen probably not right.
- 25:36Speaker 3: If they're thinking Day three linebacker is the sweet spot,
- 25:39Speaker 3: then probably not on those three guys. So the guys
- 25:42Speaker 3: that I highlighted were Aiden Fisher, who you know, I
- 25:45Speaker 3: really like, Bryce Betcher from Oregon, who Dan Bugler took
- 25:48Speaker 3: in his mock for them today.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Jimmy Rolder from Michigan, who was.
- 25:51Speaker 3: A guy I was late to who I thought was
- 25:54Speaker 3: really really good for this, you know, part of the
- 25:57Speaker 3: draft obviously relatively speaking. And then you kind of get
- 26:00Speaker 3: into like, you know, the the Perkins is and the
- 26:03Speaker 3: Lewis is and like those types of guys too.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Is gonna be Day three guys. I think he's gonna
- 26:06Speaker 1: be a late third rounder. Okay, yeah, Uh.
- 26:10Speaker 3: My guess is that the league, based off of what
- 26:12Speaker 3: Elliot Wolf said, is a little bit lower on the
- 26:14Speaker 3: linebackers than we are.
- 26:16Speaker 1: You know he said day three is a sweet spot, right.
- 26:18Speaker 1: I just wonder if he specifically gets pushed up because
- 26:21Speaker 1: of the copycat effect and everybody trying to find the
- 26:23Speaker 1: next Nick even worry. I'm not saying that he's going
- 26:26Speaker 1: to be that guy. Yeah, but I'm saying right because
- 26:28Speaker 1: he's more a pair of linebacker.
- 26:29Speaker 3: Okay, so Lewis, yeah, Perkins, you know those guys I
- 26:32Speaker 3: know there's a lot of love for like Josiah Trotter
- 26:34Speaker 3: from Missouri too. I think he's an early Day three guy,
- 26:37Speaker 3: probably because of the coverage and the size limitations that
- 26:40Speaker 3: he has. Uh, you know, maybe a Kashaun Elliott, you know,
- 26:43Speaker 3: Caleb e Lum's or you know, you can maybe throw
- 26:45Speaker 3: those guys in there too.
- 26:46Speaker 1: Who do you like out of that that list? But
- 26:48Speaker 1: is that the list to you as well?
- 26:50Speaker 3: Because to me, Fisher, Betcher en Roller make the most sense,
- 26:53Speaker 3: like in some sort of stack, right, you know, I'd
- 26:55Speaker 3: probably put Fisher at the at the top.
- 26:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm not as high on on Betcher's, I think
- 27:00Speaker 1: everybody else's. I like Roller and Fisher because those are
- 27:04Speaker 1: like potential future Green Dot guys. Yep. The other one
- 27:07Speaker 1: that might go in that category. And we're talking like
- 27:10Speaker 1: later in the draft at this point is Red Murdoch
- 27:13Speaker 1: from Buffalo. Yeah, I watched him.
- 27:15Speaker 3: I feel like, I don't know if he's a great athlete.
- 27:18Speaker 3: That would be the question that I would have.
- 27:19Speaker 1: Actually Buffalo has, so that's if they want to wait
- 27:22Speaker 1: on it. I wouldn't put him on the level of
- 27:24Speaker 1: Fisher or Rolder, but if they want that guy but
- 27:27Speaker 1: they're waiting, I feel like every two or three years
- 27:29Speaker 1: Buffalo just has some linebacker come through the draft with
- 27:32Speaker 1: just Banana's production. And at the very least, I think
- 27:35Speaker 1: Murdock's gonna be good special teams player. He's instinctive and
- 27:39Speaker 1: he'll stick his nose in there, and he's a good
- 27:40Speaker 1: tackler and all that, and so this is like sixth round,
- 27:43Speaker 1: this is later, but yeah, he'd maybe be the late
- 27:45Speaker 1: day three version of those guys.
- 27:47Speaker 3: To me, Yeah, he was just I thought his athletic
- 27:50Speaker 3: limitation shut up a little bit.
- 27:52Speaker 1: He doesn't pop as much as some other guys. Yeah,
- 27:54Speaker 1: for sure.
- 27:54Speaker 3: No, I thought Rolder really popped, but he only started
- 27:58Speaker 3: eleven games. I think it wasn't Collin. He hasn't played
- 28:01Speaker 3: some of you.
- 28:01Speaker 1: An interesting one somebody. I did my mock draft mail
- 28:03Speaker 1: bag last week and somebody sent this to me and
- 28:05Speaker 1: I kind of loved it. I hadn't thought about it.
- 28:07Speaker 1: They and you could do this with Daydon Fisher, but
- 28:09Speaker 1: they had the Patriots going back to back. I think
- 28:11Speaker 1: they traded up in the fifth round to do this.
- 28:13Speaker 1: They took him with him like a couple picks of
- 28:14Speaker 1: each other, Jimmy Rolder and Harold Perkins. And what a
- 28:18Speaker 1: fun duo that would be because yeh, Hald Perkins is
- 28:21Speaker 1: gonna fly around and make plays, and maybe he's not
- 28:25Speaker 1: the most disciplined player, but he's gonna make a lot happen.
- 28:27Speaker 1: And then Jimmy Rolder, I've referred to as like the
- 28:29Speaker 1: ultimate cleanup guy. Jimmy Rolder, I don't think goes out
- 28:32Speaker 1: of the goes out of his way and makes a
- 28:34Speaker 1: lot of plays that aren't there, but everything that's there
- 28:37Speaker 1: to be made he makes. He's very reliable, he's very consistent.
- 28:40Speaker 1: He's a clean up guy. That's what he does. So
- 28:42Speaker 1: you put him next to somebody like Harold Perkins, and
- 28:44Speaker 1: you could you know that's going to give Zach core
- 28:47Speaker 1: a lot of options to use Perkins creatively. Because all right,
- 28:51Speaker 1: you know, we're going to take some risks here, but
- 28:52Speaker 1: you have a guy like Jimmy Roler who can clean
- 28:55Speaker 1: it up behind him.
- 28:56Speaker 3: Yeah, I like double dipping on day three linebacker. I
- 29:01Speaker 3: like double dipping on day three.
- 29:03Speaker 1: Obviously, I'll take all the offensive lineman you want to
- 29:05Speaker 1: draft three offensive lineman on Day three at the eleven picks,
- 29:07Speaker 1: I'm all for that those types of positions. Feels like
- 29:11Speaker 1: that is, if you're not gonna go early, I at it,
- 29:15Speaker 1: especially tackle. It feels like going late, but going often
- 29:18Speaker 1: is probably the best case scenario, right Like, if you're
- 29:21Speaker 1: not going to draft Iani ch or Miller, Rodriguez, Allen,
- 29:25Speaker 1: you know Hill, one of those guys, then just kind
- 29:29Speaker 1: of throwing darts on Day three at multiples seems like
- 29:32Speaker 1: the best case scenario for the Patriots. The other thing,
- 29:35Speaker 1: just quickly that he was asked about and talked a
- 29:37Speaker 1: little bit about his backup quarterback in the debt behind
- 29:40Speaker 1: Drake may at quarterback. Sounds to me like they feel
- 29:43Speaker 1: pretty good about Tommy DeVito being the backup. Maybe that
- 29:48Speaker 1: means that QB three is you know, obviously, if they
- 29:51Speaker 1: like a guy at the end of the draft in
- 29:52Speaker 1: the six or seventh round. They could still take that player.
- 29:55Speaker 3: It could also be a UDFA, a college free agent,
- 29:59Speaker 3: like you said. So, I don't think that we're necessarily
- 30:03Speaker 3: in a place where they're thinking they need to draft, like,
- 30:06Speaker 3: you know, a quarterback super early or not that I
- 30:10Speaker 3: thought they were going to do that anyways, But I
- 30:12Speaker 3: don't even know if they feel like they need to
- 30:14Speaker 3: draft a quarterback at all.
- 30:15Speaker 1: Yeah, and he mentioned, you know, meeting with the veteran
- 30:18Speaker 1: we're looking at some veteran guys too. Yeah.
- 30:20Speaker 3: Yeah, they feel like that they're really trying to get
- 30:23Speaker 3: a third quarterback. Was there anything else I missed from
- 30:26Speaker 3: the press conference that you had takeaways on. I think
- 30:28Speaker 3: that pretty much does it. That's it, Okay, So we
- 30:32Speaker 3: had an exercise that we wanted to do. Let's start
- 30:34Speaker 3: the exercise and then we're gonna get into some calls
- 30:37Speaker 3: and emails after that, and for the rest of the
- 30:39Speaker 3: show we'll take your calls and emails and for the
- 30:41Speaker 3: full second hour for sure.
- 30:43Speaker 1: So this is your thing, you said the table, So
- 30:46Speaker 1: what are we doing? I just kind of thought because
- 30:48Speaker 1: of that game we were doing the last couple of weeks,
- 30:50Speaker 1: and I guess we'll do it again. Here to kick
- 30:51Speaker 1: it off, Patriots on the board at thirty one, Denzel
- 30:54Speaker 1: Boston or Chris Brasel. Who are you taking? Yeah, Denzel
- 30:57Speaker 1: Boston today. Okay, I feel like you're pretty solid in
- 31:00Speaker 1: Denzel Boss. That's like three weeks in a row. Yeah,
- 31:02Speaker 1: I'm pretty seem set on that. But yeah, you know,
- 31:05Speaker 1: the last couple of years, it was two or three
- 31:07Speaker 1: guys at the fourth overall pick, and you know, maybe
- 31:10Speaker 1: we were debating different quarterbacks of different tackles last year,
- 31:12Speaker 1: but there wasn't that much variance this year. And Wolf
- 31:14Speaker 1: talked about it yesterday. You can't really look at one guy,
- 31:19Speaker 1: one or two guys and be like, these are the guys.
- 31:20Speaker 1: You don't know if they're gonna get there or whatever. Yeah,
- 31:23Speaker 1: So it's not a full on mock draft because it's
- 31:26Speaker 1: tough to do that without the visual, which which we
- 31:28Speaker 1: can't do right now. But what I thought we would do,
- 31:31Speaker 1: I have the PFF simulator up and we will run
- 31:35Speaker 1: I'm just gonna run it down to thirty one. We're
- 31:36Speaker 1: not gonna do trades. I'm gonna run it down to
- 31:38Speaker 1: thirty one and I'm gonna give you the board. Okay,
- 31:40Speaker 1: I'm gonna here's who fell, here's who didn't. Because this
- 31:43Speaker 1: is what is especially as we get within a week,
- 31:46Speaker 1: week and a half, this is what they're doing over
- 31:47Speaker 1: there in the new building. Yes, they're running scenarios. They are.
- 31:50Speaker 1: They literally do mock drafts. And I'm not saying that
- 31:53Speaker 1: again not the PA. It's a higher level than they're doing,
- 31:56Speaker 1: but they literally, they admit that they do the mick drafts. Yeah. So,
- 32:00Speaker 1: cause that's how you prepare, because you don't want to
- 32:01Speaker 1: get there that night and be like, all right, this
- 32:03Speaker 1: is what the board looks like. Who you want to
- 32:06Speaker 1: be ready for every snaro. So I thought we'd run
- 32:08Speaker 1: some and kind of see where you're at. So I'll
- 32:09Speaker 1: tweak the settings a little bit. PFF has some different
- 32:12Speaker 1: big boards we could use, so we get different results.
- 32:14Speaker 1: I had a really good one when we did a
- 32:15Speaker 1: trial before the show, so I'm hoping we get something
- 32:17Speaker 1: like that. None of the edge rushers and none of
- 32:19Speaker 1: the tackles fell, okay, perfect, and nobody was calling for trades,
- 32:23Speaker 1: so we're not traded. We're not trading. Oh might do
- 32:25Speaker 1: one trade down? We're not traded, okay, Oh okay, first
- 32:28Speaker 1: one's interesting, and we're not necessarily going to do respect
- 32:31Speaker 1: the board here, Like, I want your full thoughts on this. Okay,
- 32:34Speaker 1: So I'm going to give you the three big positions tackle, edge,
- 32:37Speaker 1: and receiver, and if anybody else notable falls will tell
- 32:39Speaker 1: you as well. Okay. At tackle, yes, Caden Proctor, Maxie Honator,
- 32:43Speaker 1: and Caleb Loom who all fell. It's not respecting the board. Well,
- 32:48Speaker 1: it's not respect it is Pregnant is still there at guard.
- 32:53Speaker 1: At edge, yes, Zion Young, Malachai Lawrence or Mason Thomas
- 32:58Speaker 1: gave Akis or your top edge rushers. Okay. At receiver
- 33:01Speaker 1: KCC's the only top guy that fell. There was a
- 33:03Speaker 1: whole run on and Chris Brazil is still there. Your
- 33:05Speaker 1: guy Colton Hood is still there. He's really the only
- 33:10Speaker 1: like kind of high like expected first on pick Jacob Rodriguez. Okay,
- 33:14Speaker 1: So here's where I'm at today. Yeah, and I feel
- 33:18Speaker 1: like I'm going to probably finish here. I I feel
- 33:22Speaker 1: like the way the board sets up, yeah, taking the.
- 33:25Speaker 3: Tackle in the first round and then hammering the positions
- 33:29Speaker 3: that might have a more immediate impact like edge and
- 33:32Speaker 3: receiver and on day two tight end. You know, I
- 33:36Speaker 3: think that makes more sense, just the way the board
- 33:39Speaker 3: is currently presenting. Yeah, you know, I think that at
- 33:41Speaker 3: Edge Rusher, is there a huge difference? Just get to
- 33:45Speaker 3: give you an example. Is there a huge difference between
- 33:48Speaker 3: Malachi Lawrence and the guy that they're going to get
- 33:50Speaker 3: at sixty three at Edge Rusher?
- 33:53Speaker 1: I think Lawrence is a little underrated, But I get
- 33:55Speaker 1: what you're saying. I think the drop off is not
- 33:57Speaker 1: that significant. I would almost use that on young Moore
- 33:59Speaker 1: in that example. Your theory is correct. I agree with
- 34:02Speaker 1: your theory.
- 34:03Speaker 3: Are they gonna get? You know, you mentioned Casey c.
- 34:06Speaker 3: I love case Cc Casec. I don't know if that's
- 34:09Speaker 3: exactly what they need, though, you know, I think that
- 34:12Speaker 3: you can build a receiving core with what they have.
- 34:14Speaker 3: If you add cacc, that's going to be pretty good,
- 34:16Speaker 3: no doubt about it.
- 34:17Speaker 1: He's a good player.
- 34:18Speaker 3: But it doesn't fit my whole narrative that they need
- 34:21Speaker 3: size and speed on the outside.
- 34:23Speaker 1: So to respect the.
- 34:24Speaker 3: Board and to do all, you know, to really think
- 34:27Speaker 3: what might actually happen on draft night.
- 34:29Speaker 1: So I probably go tackle and that. So you think
- 34:33Speaker 1: they would go troll? Would you do here? I draft
- 34:36Speaker 1: ca Cc? I think he's the best player. Okay, you
- 34:39Speaker 1: think Casey so you're doing the actual best player available. Yes,
- 34:41Speaker 1: all right, let's I'm gonna but it's still out a
- 34:43Speaker 1: position that they need. You know, the may could use
- 34:45Speaker 1: an upgrade pick up care for positional value a little
- 34:48Speaker 1: bit and see how that changes what we get. Let's
- 34:50Speaker 1: run another one, all right. Uh, here's who fell. Kate
- 34:56Speaker 1: McDonald is the best player on the board. T J Parker, Maxie,
- 35:00Speaker 1: Hana Shore, Caleb Banks, KCC, Lomu fell again, Zion Young,
- 35:07Speaker 1: Jacob Rodriguez, Malachai Lawrence, who isn't to give it to
- 35:12Speaker 1: me again? H So you have Kate McDonald's the best
- 35:15Speaker 1: player on the board. They didn't with him in the
- 35:16Speaker 1: top thirty at edge t J Parker did fall okay.
- 35:20Speaker 1: Also Zion Young and Malachi Lawrence. I think you're gonna
- 35:22Speaker 1: have them available in all these KCC is again the
- 35:25Speaker 1: only receiver yep, and then was a tackle. Evana Schorn
- 35:29Speaker 1: Lomu both fell okay. So Loma was falling a lot
- 35:31Speaker 1: for PFF, which doesn't change the board at another board.
- 35:35Speaker 3: That doesn't surprise me because I think you know my
- 35:38Speaker 3: whole thing with Lomo, because I feel like I haven't
- 35:40Speaker 3: talked a ton about him, because a. I don't really
- 35:42Speaker 3: think he's going to be there, but be he's also
- 35:44Speaker 3: not really my cup of tea. Yeah, I think the
- 35:46Speaker 3: biggest thing that you see and I think with both
- 35:48Speaker 3: of these Utah tackles, they just didn't do a whole
- 35:52Speaker 3: lot of NFL stuff in that offense. You know, it's
- 35:54Speaker 3: a it's a triple option offense. There's a lot of
- 35:56Speaker 3: read option type of stuff. There's a lot of misdirection window.
- 36:01Speaker 3: There's just not a whole lot of times where they
- 36:03Speaker 3: got to do two things true passet like an NFL
- 36:06Speaker 3: drop back pass set and run block with like real power.
- 36:11Speaker 3: They didn't really get to show off if they have
- 36:13Speaker 3: a ton of functional strength and power. So you're kind
- 36:17Speaker 3: of projecting that this guy Lomu, you know, has the measurables,
- 36:21Speaker 3: has the athletic profile, fits the bill, looks the part,
- 36:23Speaker 3: wears the suit, the whole thing, and that the rest
- 36:26Speaker 3: of that is kind of in there, but Utah just
- 36:28Speaker 3: didn't show it. If I if it were me again,
- 36:32Speaker 3: this is if it were me, I would rather take
- 36:34Speaker 3: the bed on Eanochore than Lomu because I feel like Ionitch,
- 36:38Speaker 3: or at least I saw Ianachore sit in the passet
- 36:42Speaker 3: against David Bailey and Ramelo Height and actually block like
- 36:45Speaker 3: he's going to At this level, it's raw and there's
- 36:48Speaker 3: there's things that he's got to work on, certainly, but
- 36:50Speaker 3: at least I saw it with my own eyes. I
- 36:53Speaker 3: feel like there's more risk involved in projection involved with Lomu.
- 36:56Speaker 3: So with that board, though, I am tempted to go TJ. Parker,
- 37:00Speaker 3: who I think is getting like slightly underrated because of
- 37:03Speaker 3: the twenty twenty five production that he had.
- 37:06Speaker 1: I think that TJ.
- 37:07Speaker 3: Parker is the type of player that similarly how I
- 37:11Speaker 3: feel about cash As Howell.
- 37:13Speaker 1: If TJ. Parker is there for the Patriots at thirty one,
- 37:16Speaker 1: then is there a chance that twenty teams kind of
- 37:20Speaker 1: overthought it right and didn't just like take the chance
- 37:23Speaker 1: on the talent, you know, because like I feel like TJ.
- 37:26Speaker 1: Parker coming into this was touted, you know, coming into
- 37:30Speaker 1: the fall season, was touted as a top ten, top fifteen, right.
- 37:33Speaker 3: And now he's fallen because he only had five and
- 37:35Speaker 3: a half sacks last year at Clemson.
- 37:37Speaker 1: So I with that board, I would be tempted to
- 37:40Speaker 1: go TJ. Parker over Yana Chor. It's one of the other.
- 37:43Speaker 3: You know, I still like, you know, what I said
- 37:45Speaker 3: about cacc still stands, but I would say that it's
- 37:48Speaker 3: one of those two guys.
- 37:49Speaker 1: I'd probably lean Parker in that scenario. All right, let's
- 37:51Speaker 1: try try a different board here and see how that
- 37:54Speaker 1: changed it. We'll do like four or five of these. Okay,
- 37:58Speaker 1: this changed it up a little bit. This definitely changed
- 38:01Speaker 1: it up. Blake Miller has fallen. Blake Miller's best player available,
- 38:06Speaker 1: Cad McDonald, c J Allen, cash as Hal, Maxie, Honachre,
- 38:11Speaker 1: Caleb Banks, Zion Young, Malack, Hi Lawrence, Jake Rodriguez, Ar
- 38:16Speaker 1: Mason Thomas. Okay, give me the top one more time.
- 38:20Speaker 1: Blake Miller fell. Yeah, Cad McDonald fell, Cashus Hal. So
- 38:25Speaker 1: you have both. I have Miller and and Howell and
- 38:29Speaker 1: also cash as hell. This is a very favorable board
- 38:32Speaker 1: for the Patriots.
- 38:33Speaker 3: I feel like I have to say Howell because I've
- 38:36Speaker 3: been saying all off season that I just don't love
- 38:38Speaker 3: them taking a tackle when they don't necessarily need the
- 38:43Speaker 3: tackle right away. You know, but I would probably have
- 38:47Speaker 3: Howell as the highest graded player out of that group,
- 38:51Speaker 3: and then he's also at a position that they could
- 38:53Speaker 3: they need you know. Yeah, so I would say that
- 38:56Speaker 3: the lineup of best players slash position to need is cashus.
- 38:59Speaker 1: How so i'd probably go cast even more so. So
- 39:02Speaker 1: I'll give you not just because they're both on the
- 39:04Speaker 1: boards first time we got it. Yeah, Blake Miller, Maxie Hontchore.
- 39:06Speaker 1: They're both on the board Miller.
- 39:09Speaker 3: But I think the difference though is that I don't
- 39:11Speaker 3: think Blake Miller is going to be there. But the
- 39:13Speaker 3: tough part about Blake Miller, though, is that Bike Miller
- 39:15Speaker 3: should be starting as a rookie. Ye, Like he made
- 39:17Speaker 3: fifty some odd starts at Clemson. I think it's fifty
- 39:19Speaker 3: four is the number. So like there's no reason for
- 39:22Speaker 3: Blake Miller to sit right, whereas with the on a
- 39:25Speaker 3: chore you have the developmental thing going on right where
- 39:29Speaker 3: he probably could use a rookie red shirt and then
- 39:31Speaker 3: maybe the ceiling is significantly higher as a result of
- 39:35Speaker 3: red shirting as a rookie and developing and all that
- 39:37Speaker 3: kind of stuff. Blake Miller, to me is like a
- 39:39Speaker 3: team that needs a tackle this year. I kind of
- 39:42Speaker 3: the position the Patriots were in last year, you know,
- 39:45Speaker 3: with Will Campbell, Like a team that needs a tackle
- 39:48Speaker 3: to start this year should be running the card up.
- 39:51Speaker 3: If Blake Miller is on the board when they pick,
- 39:53Speaker 3: I don't know. If the Patriots are necessarily in that spot,
- 39:55Speaker 3: they might have a little bit more leeway to take
- 39:58Speaker 3: a developmental player like on a tour.
- 40:00Speaker 1: Okay, here's a good I got a good one. And
- 40:02Speaker 1: this is one player fellah, and you may not think
- 40:07Speaker 1: it's respecting the board. I think there's a chance he falls.
- 40:09Speaker 1: It's a guy that I don't think you're a big
- 40:10Speaker 1: fan of. And then the rest of the board did
- 40:12Speaker 1: not go to the Patriots way here. So at edge,
- 40:17Speaker 1: the top player available is Keldrick Falk. Okay, but after
- 40:21Speaker 1: him it's Lawrence and Young. Those are the next two guys.
- 40:23Speaker 1: Everybody else went at tackle, nobody fell, Lonmu's gone, he
- 40:27Speaker 1: Hanna tur Miller, they all went Okay, at receiver, just
- 40:32Speaker 1: KCC he's the only one on the board. Other top
- 40:35Speaker 1: players who fell, Uh, that's really it. The highest player
- 40:39Speaker 1: on the board here is Christian Miller. Then aj Halsey.
- 40:42Speaker 1: The guards are still there and Jacob Rodriguez is still there. Oh,
- 40:45Speaker 1: Kate McDonald's fell, but you have do you take Keldrick
- 40:49Speaker 1: Falk after he fell I'm out on Kendrick fulk Okay,
- 40:53Speaker 1: I don't see it. I don't see uh. I shouldn't
- 40:57Speaker 1: say I don't see it. That's strong.
- 40:58Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't see the past strush upside with him, Like,
- 41:01Speaker 3: I just don't know what kind of pass rusher he's
- 41:04Speaker 3: really going to be. I personally think that he should
- 41:07Speaker 3: continue to add mass and play strength to his profile
- 41:11Speaker 3: and be like a three four defensive end, Like if
- 41:14Speaker 3: they were still in the Belichick defense and they wanted
- 41:17Speaker 3: those three four ends that you know, can get into
- 41:19Speaker 3: blocks and two gap and you know, cast the wide
- 41:22Speaker 3: net with their length and all that kind of stuff,
- 41:24Speaker 3: and he'd be more my you know, I could see
- 41:26Speaker 3: a fit more. If you want your edge rushers to
- 41:29Speaker 3: play outside to tackle, then I just don't know why
- 41:31Speaker 3: you would be interested in Keldric Faulk.
- 41:33Speaker 1: I get that he's young. I get that there's upside there.
- 41:36Speaker 3: I just I personally think that the hype around him
- 41:39Speaker 3: is I feel like he's in a similar boat to
- 41:42Speaker 3: Zion Young to me, like, I think that those guys
- 41:44Speaker 3: are in a similar tier of player, and it feels
- 41:47Speaker 3: like the league views him as like a top twenty
- 41:50Speaker 3: player in this draft.
- 41:51Speaker 1: And I think it's age related.
- 41:53Speaker 3: I think they see a runway there for some significant upside.
- 41:56Speaker 1: The best players left at the positions we're talking about,
- 41:58Speaker 1: Christian millerk defense, a tackle from Georgia. Uh huh, Chase Basontas,
- 42:03Speaker 1: Manuel Pregnant, the guards, Case Cacc still here, Jacob Erdriguez,
- 42:07Speaker 1: Cad McDonald, Malachi Lawrence. Oh, I didn't see this one
- 42:09Speaker 1: because you are Peter Woods felt, Okay, uh in Zion Young,
- 42:14Speaker 1: I'm probably going to KCC in that scenario. Okay, Yeah,
- 42:17Speaker 1: this is I keep passing on Cacc and I is
- 42:20Speaker 1: this like a borderline like worst case scenario board for
- 42:23Speaker 1: the Patriots. I don't think so, because case c is
- 42:25Speaker 1: still a really good player.
- 42:27Speaker 3: The fear that I would have if the board shacked out,
- 42:30Speaker 3: just like guys that they go guard because I think
- 42:33Speaker 3: there's a case for it here, because because Pregnant and
- 42:36Speaker 3: beyond this are both really good player.
- 42:38Speaker 1: You could argue that if you don't like fall, if
- 42:41Speaker 1: we're just gonna do again the best player available zero
- 42:43Speaker 1: to one hundred, are those guys the best player on
- 42:46Speaker 1: the board here? Actually I might say it's Rodrigaz, but
- 42:50Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 42:51Speaker 3: Yeah, Pregnant I feel like, you know they're different, right, Besond,
- 42:56Speaker 3: This is like a high level movere, great pass. Boker
- 42:59Speaker 3: rides me a little bit of gray Zabele. Pregnant is
- 43:03Speaker 3: more sturdy, well anchored, power but not nasty necessarily, just
- 43:11Speaker 3: like kind of a different kind of player, I'd probably say. Besides,
- 43:15Speaker 3: I have him a little bit higher, okay at this
- 43:17Speaker 3: point than Pregnant, but not not by much.
- 43:19Speaker 1: All right, let's do one more. Let's do one more.
- 43:21Speaker 1: Let's do is with the second and third round and
- 43:23Speaker 1: then okay, so we're not gonna do that with this
- 43:25Speaker 1: one because this one. The boards a little bit of
- 43:26Speaker 1: a mess again. Uh, The top players at tackle they
- 43:30Speaker 1: all went. The top players on the edge are Zion Young, TJ. Parker,
- 43:36Speaker 1: and Malachai Lawrence. Okay, that seems to be the board
- 43:39Speaker 1: at edge. The f is given. Denzel Boston is still
- 43:41Speaker 1: their wide receiver. Conception went he went to the Texans.
- 43:44Speaker 1: Denzel Boston is still there. And the reason I like
- 43:47Speaker 1: this one is a wild card. This is the guy
- 43:48Speaker 1: they met with Emanuel McNeil, Warren Felt thirty one, Okay,
- 43:54Speaker 1: and I think that's c. J. Allen Fell. I think
- 43:57Speaker 1: that's pretty much it for like notables. Yeah, all the
- 44:01Speaker 1: guards are there who you've taken, you know. I think
- 44:06Speaker 1: McNeil Warren very highly of McNeil Warren. Who would they
- 44:11Speaker 1: take here? Probably the guards over t J. Parker and
- 44:17Speaker 1: McNeil Warren.
- 44:20Speaker 3: I don't know what they feel about t J. Parker
- 44:22Speaker 3: because they doesn't fit that. The speed off the edge
- 44:26Speaker 3: thing is is kind of creepy.
- 44:28Speaker 1: You think they go guard over EMW I think so.
- 44:32Speaker 1: I think that they. Elliot Wolf told us. Again it's
- 44:36Speaker 1: just a hunch, but Elliot Wolf told us that the
- 44:38Speaker 1: best parts of this draft are the offensive line and
- 44:40Speaker 1: defensive line, and I think that they want to be
- 44:43Speaker 1: a draft and developed team in the trenches. Yeah, so
- 44:46Speaker 1: whether it's offensive line defensive line, I think that's what
- 44:49Speaker 1: we're leading if you want.
- 44:50Speaker 3: I do think ed Rusher is part of that. Like,
- 44:52Speaker 3: I think they include Ed Rusher and defensive line. But
- 44:55Speaker 3: I think that that's if. I would be pretty stunned
- 44:59Speaker 3: at this point if that's not their first round pick
- 45:01Speaker 3: is either a tackle or a guy off the edge.
- 45:04Speaker 1: I guess maybe McDonald. But you just said you thought
- 45:06Speaker 1: they'd go guard here, all right? Sorry? Offensive line? Yeah,
- 45:11Speaker 1: on that, I'm before we get to the one where
- 45:15Speaker 1: we go a few more rounds. Yeah, rank these guards
- 45:18Speaker 1: for me, okay, And I'm gonna throw two more names
- 45:21Speaker 1: in here that are so the Patriots start meeting with
- 45:24Speaker 1: top fifty guards and suddenly becomes a conversation. Rightfully so.
- 45:27Speaker 1: And the three names that you keep hearing are Pregnant
- 45:29Speaker 1: who they met with, Yeah, Rutledgs who I think they
- 45:31Speaker 1: met with it there at his pro day that wasn't
- 45:33Speaker 1: a thirty Yeah, and then Chase Basantis who I guess
- 45:36Speaker 1: they wanted to meet with but couldn't get on the schedule.
- 45:38Speaker 1: So those three, the other two I'm gonna give you yep,
- 45:41Speaker 1: are listed in most places tackles, but are probably gonna
- 45:44Speaker 1: play guard Dunker and Tiernan and Tiernan and on Jennings Dunker.
- 45:47Speaker 1: If we're going to do day two guards for the Patriots,
- 45:49Speaker 1: can we bring Jennings Dunker into this thing? I was
- 45:52Speaker 1: so excited to do Jennings Dunker during this pre draft process.
- 45:55Speaker 1: And then they signed Elija Verit Talker, which goods. I'm
- 45:57Speaker 1: not gonna plaining about the signing, but like now, Jennings
- 45:59Speaker 1: Dunker didn't makes sense. Suddenly he does again nothing against
- 46:02Speaker 1: the other three guys who are true guards, but Jennings
- 46:04Speaker 1: Dunker is a good player. I like them. If we're
- 46:07Speaker 1: gonna talk day two guards, I want Dunker to be
- 46:10Speaker 1: in the conversation. So I'll give to you again. I'm
- 46:13Speaker 1: just curious you're ranking, and give me a percentage that
- 46:16Speaker 1: they draft one of these five. Okay, at some point
- 46:19Speaker 1: Rottledge pregnant, Bisontis Dunker, Tiernan, I'm out on Tiernan. I'd
- 46:27Speaker 1: probably have him at five. I think he's I'm not
- 46:30Speaker 1: entirely out, but I'd put him in five.
- 46:31Speaker 3: Athletic player, moves well, pass box well.
- 46:35Speaker 1: But the short arm thing probably eliminates him at tackle.
- 46:38Speaker 1: His arms are are thirty two in a quarter. They're
- 46:40Speaker 1: even shorter than Will Campbell's. I think that that rules
- 46:44Speaker 1: him out at tackle.
- 46:45Speaker 3: I think the hard part about it, and I'm gonna
- 46:47Speaker 3: put Dunker at four is that I really.
- 46:50Speaker 1: Like these guards, like the pure guards. So instead of
- 46:53Speaker 1: trying to project what a college tackle is going to
- 46:57Speaker 1: look like, you've seen these guys do it so like right,
- 46:59Speaker 1: So like Jennings Dunker for example, if you want that
- 47:02Speaker 1: skill set, the nasty run blocker, you know, power finisher
- 47:08Speaker 1: like Kayln Rutledge is just sitting right there. Like you've
- 47:12Speaker 1: seen Kaylen Jennings dunkers the boat or Jennings Dunker's the
- 47:15Speaker 1: mystery box. You're saying, Kailan Rutledge is kind of the boat.
- 47:18Speaker 3: Yeah, Like if you if that's the type of player
- 47:20Speaker 3: that you want, then just draft, just draft Kaylyn Rutledge
- 47:24Speaker 3: like that, and that's the skill set that you're you're
- 47:27Speaker 3: translating in.
- 47:30Speaker 1: I probably go Pregnant two on that list. I really
- 47:35Speaker 1: like just like he's just a solid, stout player. I
- 47:39Speaker 1: don't think that he's the finisher that Retlige is, Like
- 47:41Speaker 1: he doesn't want to some finish, but I don't think
- 47:43Speaker 1: he'd like religions like wants me to like like take
- 47:45Speaker 1: souls like Rutledge like wants to like ruin somebody. Don't
- 47:48Speaker 1: think Pregnant lacks finish, No, But I I look at
- 47:51Speaker 1: him more as like in that mic on Wenu category.
- 47:54Speaker 1: He's not quite as big as on Wenny.
- 47:55Speaker 3: He's only like three fifteen, but of like really strong,
- 47:59Speaker 3: really sturdy, really reliable anchor, but not necessarily somebody that's
- 48:05Speaker 3: like trying to ruin your day doesn't necessarily have that.
- 48:08Speaker 3: I just I am shocked, and I was happy to
- 48:11Speaker 3: see that that Brewler said that he thinks he's going
- 48:14Speaker 3: in the first round. I think Bezontas is going in
- 48:16Speaker 3: the first round. Besion is a hell of a player,
- 48:19Speaker 3: just like really high level pass protector, explosive out of
- 48:22Speaker 3: his stance, great athleticism, got some power. I think that he,
- 48:26Speaker 3: like I said earlier, I think he reminds me a
- 48:28Speaker 3: lot of Grey's Abel coming out like Gray's Abel was
- 48:31Speaker 3: as a mid first round pick. I think Besontes is
- 48:35Speaker 3: going in the first round.
- 48:36Speaker 1: So you have byzont Is pregnant, Rutledge, Dunker, Tiernan, Yeah, okay, yeah, yeah,
- 48:42Speaker 1: I think so. And it's funny because I wouldn't probably
- 48:45Speaker 1: same when the process started. I feel like that was flipped.
- 48:48Speaker 3: Yeah, and then you started to dig into this guard
- 48:50Speaker 3: class a little bit more.
- 48:51Speaker 1: It's a good guard class. There's a lot of good guards,
- 48:53Speaker 1: a lot of.
- 48:54Speaker 3: Good ones, you know, even like I'm still kind of
- 48:56Speaker 3: getting through a couple of them. I watched Stevens from
- 48:58Speaker 3: Iowa this morning. You know, he's a strong player center.
- 49:03Speaker 1: He could be I think you know he's now foot
- 49:05Speaker 1: Brian Parker in there too. He's probably a center, but
- 49:08Speaker 1: he can play some guard.
- 49:09Speaker 3: Steven's a good player though strong, like you know, not
- 49:13Speaker 3: most athletic guy, but knows angles, knows you know, his footwork,
- 49:17Speaker 3: knows how to get up to the second level combo
- 49:19Speaker 3: block the other who's the other guy, the kid from Oklahoma.
- 49:23Speaker 3: He's pretty good too, interior player, physical, you know, another
- 49:26Speaker 3: like kind of power oriented player if you want that.
- 49:30Speaker 3: So even some of these guys that I'm getting too
- 49:32Speaker 3: late are pretty solid, like you know, somewhere in the
- 49:35Speaker 3: fourth or fifth round, you know, type of guard prospects
- 49:38Speaker 3: another position where I feel like the sweet spot is
- 49:40Speaker 3: like the middle of the drum.
- 49:42Speaker 1: Even later on again that group of Jeremiah Wright and
- 49:45Speaker 1: as Cooper, Michael Morris, whom I'm missing, there's a fourth one,
- 49:51Speaker 1: oh the deep deep Logan Taylor. Maybe Logan Taylor. I
- 49:54Speaker 1: know there's like four jumbo guard Oh Armage read Adams,
- 49:57Speaker 1: Oh jumbo guards. Yeah, like one of those four, like
- 50:00Speaker 1: those are all kind of Mike Go and win who clones.
- 50:01Speaker 3: I also think we're missing, Like I don't think we've
- 50:03Speaker 3: talked enough about Logan Taylor from Boston College.
- 50:06Speaker 1: Taylor reminds me a town of Ben Brown, and I
- 50:08Speaker 1: mean that very compliment. Yeah, I think he's gonna be
- 50:10Speaker 1: a pretty solid player. He's gonna hang around the league.
- 50:12Speaker 1: He can play a bunch of different positions. And yeah,
- 50:15Speaker 1: all right, you want to do one top, We'll do
- 50:17Speaker 1: first four rounds. Yeah, just let's go quickly through the
- 50:19Speaker 1: second and third round. Okay, So well, we got to
- 50:22Speaker 1: get the board. I didn't go out down. We got
- 50:24Speaker 1: to get the board at once. You gotta do this
- 50:25Speaker 1: one more time. Okay, here's who fell okay, Lomu, Yeah,
- 50:29Speaker 1: cash as how Maxie, Honachor, Zion Young Malachai, Lawrence our
- 50:35Speaker 1: Mason tie and then like the guards are there, the
- 50:37Speaker 1: same guys who have been there. So you said you
- 50:38Speaker 1: think tackle, I think you tackle. I probably go howel
- 50:42Speaker 1: in that situation, what do you think they'll do? They
- 50:44Speaker 1: would do? How are you han? Chart? Which might end
- 50:46Speaker 1: up being like the question there what they would do?
- 50:53Speaker 1: What they would do? Okay?
- 50:54Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I think the howl thing is probably I
- 51:00Speaker 3: I like them maybe a little bit more than most.
- 51:02Speaker 1: So okay, but we'll see. All right, So Goalie Hana Shore,
- 51:05Speaker 1: we're not gonna do any trades, yep, it is loading.
- 51:08Speaker 1: Here we go, all right, Uh who fell to sixty
- 51:12Speaker 1: three Jennings Dunker. So all those other guards are gone.
- 51:16Speaker 1: But if you want to just beef up the offensive
- 51:18Speaker 1: line right away, Jennings Dunker is there, okay. Domini Gorange
- 51:21Speaker 1: defensive tackles one which maybe be talking about little more too.
- 51:24Speaker 1: Uh dds is still on the board, Max Claar. If
- 51:27Speaker 1: we want to start tight ends, ro Mellow Height, Ted Hurst,
- 51:31Speaker 1: Kyle Lewis, Grayson Hatton.
- 51:33Speaker 3: So I went to Joseph Skyler Bell, So we're assuming
- 51:36Speaker 3: I went cash as howl at the first round.
- 51:39Speaker 1: Oh jeez, Okay, did you say how you think they
- 51:42Speaker 1: would go howl? I said I would go howel I
- 51:44Speaker 1: think they would go on? It would do I was doing. Okay,
- 51:47Speaker 1: we're trying to predict it it. Yeah, so then maybe
- 51:50Speaker 1: the edge rushers that are still on the board. The
- 51:53Speaker 1: edge rushers that are still on the board are Sutton Height,
- 51:57Speaker 1: Joshua Joseph's, Jasehawn barm Keyron Crawford. Oh I don't love that. Okay,
- 52:02Speaker 1: there's a run clearly at some point. Oh yeah, Derek
- 52:05Speaker 1: Moore went to pick before us that would that would
- 52:09Speaker 1: have been the guy there and then gave Accus went
- 52:11Speaker 1: like two or three picks, okay, and would would they?
- 52:14Speaker 1: Would they take keimeron Crawford will Hire than most. I
- 52:17Speaker 1: think he speed off the edge. He fits exactly what
- 52:20Speaker 1: they're player. They met with him. I wonder if maybe, like,
- 52:23Speaker 1: could you trade up from ninety Do we want to trade?
- 52:26Speaker 1: But no, I don't because we do have some teams
- 52:28Speaker 1: called did you trade up from the end of the
- 52:29Speaker 1: third round till like seventy five or eighty nine is
- 52:33Speaker 1: probably about where you're getting really and then you could
- 52:35Speaker 1: get there, you know, get him there instead. Who is
- 52:40Speaker 1: that receiver again? You mentioned Hurst, Hurst, Fields, Antonio Williams, Laserrat, Skyler.
- 52:46Speaker 3: Bell you know Leobel Fields Hurst is tempting there at
- 52:51Speaker 3: sixty three.
- 52:52Speaker 1: Yeah, he's tempting there.
- 52:54Speaker 3: I think Hurst really good year for you know, like
- 52:57Speaker 3: small school receivers him, Skylar Beller to Jit prospects. You
- 53:01Speaker 3: mentioned Claire, which like, I'm starting to wonder about that
- 53:05Speaker 3: one a little bit more like I warming up to
- 53:08Speaker 3: that idea. I think you have to take him at
- 53:10Speaker 3: sixty three. I don't think he's gonna be there at
- 53:11Speaker 3: the end of the third round. Obviously they have talked
- 53:16Speaker 3: about wanting tight end. I think he's probably the best
- 53:19Speaker 3: receiver just in terms of what he did in college
- 53:21Speaker 3: and you know, immediately putting that into the pros, went
- 53:24Speaker 3: to Ohio State for a year.
- 53:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 53:27Speaker 3: I wonder if they're they have what they feel about Claire.
- 53:30Speaker 3: I feel like I haven't.
- 53:32Speaker 1: We've talked a lot Delp, We've talked a lot about Rawsh,
- 53:34Speaker 1: We've talked a lot about Stowers, haven't really talked as
- 53:37Speaker 1: much about Claire. Some people see a better player after
- 53:41Speaker 1: the catch than I do. You know, maybe there's a
- 53:43Speaker 1: little bit more there than I'm giving him credit for.
- 53:46Speaker 3: I still think that he's like kind of just a
- 53:48Speaker 3: professional receiver, a tight end, where like he just knows
- 53:51Speaker 3: how to get open, has a good feel for it,
- 53:53Speaker 3: got enough juice, enough speed off the line of scrimmage
- 53:56Speaker 3: to you know, beat man coverage. But more of a
- 53:58Speaker 3: player that I feel like is kind of Hunter Henry Ish,
- 54:00Speaker 3: that's just crafty and kind of going to figure out
- 54:03Speaker 3: how to get open. I don't necessarily see great like
- 54:06Speaker 3: I've seen some like Tucker Craft and Dalton Kincaid comps
- 54:09Speaker 3: with him. I don't know if he's quite as explosive
- 54:12Speaker 3: as those guys are.
- 54:13Speaker 1: I don't know how you feel.
- 54:14Speaker 3: About that maybe the athletic testing, like he didn't test,
- 54:17Speaker 3: he kind of dodged.
- 54:18Speaker 1: Yes, I think he probably would have tested better. I mean,
- 54:20Speaker 1: he didn't test, so maybe that's ally something right.
- 54:22Speaker 3: That's so I think what's psyching me out a little
- 54:24Speaker 3: bit about it is that he didn't test, which makes
- 54:25Speaker 3: me think that maybe he didn't wasn't going to test.
- 54:28Speaker 1: Well. So you're still so you want to take Claire
- 54:30Speaker 1: here still with I think I'm gonna go Claire? Okay? Yeah?
- 54:33Speaker 1: Are we you want trade up from ninety five and nope,
- 54:36Speaker 1: I want to We're doing it. Okay, you might not
- 54:38Speaker 1: get in a hedge Rusher. We're doing it, Jock now
- 54:41Speaker 1: Kieron Crawford fell there you go, put him on board. Yeah, Ianajor,
- 54:44Speaker 1: Claire Crawford.
- 54:45Speaker 2: I like that.
- 54:46Speaker 1: And then I went to the port. So we still
- 54:47Speaker 1: have a couple more picks. Okay, one twenty five? Uh,
- 54:51Speaker 1: double up at tackle, Austin Barberfeld, tell me what what
- 54:53Speaker 1: what positions you want? So we went tackle in the
- 54:56Speaker 1: first round. Yeah, we went tight end, we went we
- 54:59Speaker 1: went edge. You did the same top three that everybody's
- 55:02Speaker 1: done in every Patriots mock draft. You want to go guard,
- 55:05Speaker 1: Billy Shroud, who is the top player on the board, were.
- 55:09Speaker 3: Still there, Jeremiah right, I feel like we could wait
- 55:11Speaker 3: on and like I feel like he's getting mocked into
- 55:14Speaker 3: like the fifth round in a lot of places like
- 55:17Speaker 3: late fourth orly fifth type.
- 55:19Speaker 1: Of defensive tackle Deamonte kpe Haart, Zane Durant, Tim Keenan
- 55:23Speaker 1: if anything's got own a d M two who brewg
- 55:25Speaker 1: in the top one?
- 55:26Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I watched him. He was okay, what about
- 55:29Speaker 3: like linebacker.
- 55:31Speaker 1: Elliott Boucher, Perkins all here, Fisher Roller? Okay, I saw
- 55:35Speaker 1: the linebackers are still there. What about safety We've got
- 55:39Speaker 1: saved j Payne, Michael Taffy, Jacobe Thomas or the top
- 55:42Speaker 1: three and then Jalen Hosky who they met with. But
- 55:44Speaker 1: this is too early for him. Yeah okay. Now then
- 55:46Speaker 1: again it was too early for too early for not
- 55:49Speaker 1: not a great fourth round board, not a great board.
- 55:52Speaker 1: Uh Bord gets a little thin in the fourth round.
- 55:55Speaker 1: Who's like the top? Give me the top? Like five guys,
- 55:58Speaker 1: Michael Trigg, Cage, Casey Cole, Peyton, Austin Barber, VJ. Paint,
- 56:01Speaker 1: Carrio Davis is up there too, oh Man Zeki a
- 56:04Speaker 1: mass as.
- 56:05Speaker 3: Well is already Like, I really like Kge Casey, but
- 56:08Speaker 3: I already took a tackle in the first round. He's
- 56:10Speaker 3: going to probably be a guard well, so maybe they
- 56:12Speaker 3: go maybe they would go guard here.
- 56:14Speaker 1: Maybe. I don't know. I don't love any of those names.
- 56:16Speaker 1: I'm not gonna lie who's that receiver? Who's a receiver?
- 56:21Speaker 1: Josh Cameron, Kevin Coleman, Jeff Caldwell, Cyrus Allen, Reggie vigil
- 56:25Speaker 1: or the top receivers. That board dropped off a cliff,
- 56:29Speaker 1: it does it is? I actually don't hate Kevin Coleman.
- 56:32Speaker 1: I just I don't know. I don't hate him either.
- 56:35Speaker 1: Does here?
- 56:35Speaker 3: Yeah, he was gonna trade pop, right, I feel like
- 56:38Speaker 3: he's probably you're not extending pop slash nut Pop's not
- 56:44Speaker 3: in the play and type of player, But I don't
- 56:46Speaker 3: mind him. My little he's I think he's not maybe
- 56:49Speaker 3: not quite as fast as Kyle Williams like vertically, but
- 56:52Speaker 3: kind of similar to Kyle Williams too, a little redundant there.
- 56:57Speaker 3: I'd probably just default to offensive or defensive line. And
- 57:00Speaker 3: if that's the board, it's not a great board.
- 57:01Speaker 1: So so then you have does draft of trenches player
- 57:05Speaker 1: and keep it moving so you've got can never go
- 57:09Speaker 1: a C. Barber shrout demonte K Barber is still there? Yeah,
- 57:14Speaker 1: I said that. Okay, who the defensive lineman, Demante k part,
- 57:18Speaker 1: Zane Durant, Tim Keenan, No, you don't like Tim Keenan
- 57:23Speaker 1: like laid Sure? Fine, yeah, Tyler on a diem Mike
- 57:27Speaker 1: cal Kamara. Okay, I probably go Barber George Gumms. I
- 57:33Speaker 1: like Barber's versatility.
- 57:34Speaker 3: I think you can play tackle, you know, if you
- 57:37Speaker 3: had to leave him out there, I can think he
- 57:39Speaker 3: can play guard. I think he's going to be a
- 57:41Speaker 3: starting caliber guard. I think he's probably gonna be a
- 57:44Speaker 3: flex or backup tackle. Those players are pretty valuable, you know.
- 57:48Speaker 1: If you do move on from Mike on went Who,
- 57:50Speaker 1: He's not like wide framed and big like on when
- 57:54Speaker 1: Who is. But he's powerful and he finishes. He has
- 57:58Speaker 1: a good play strength to him, a good power, you know,
- 58:00Speaker 1: functional power to him. I'll go Barber there. I like
- 58:03Speaker 1: both those offensive line and I feel like you kind
- 58:05Speaker 1: of solved a lot of your problems on the offensive.
- 58:07Speaker 1: You want to grab a linebacker before we wrap this
- 58:10Speaker 1: up for defensive tackle linebacker? All right? Pretty much all
- 58:14Speaker 1: the same guys Elliott, Boucher, Perkins, Roller Fisher touring York.
- 58:18Speaker 3: So I would probably go Fisher or Betcher there. Yeah,
- 58:22Speaker 3: Betcher's a little bit more athletic, right, he has the
- 58:24Speaker 3: safety background to sport athlete, like, probably a little bit
- 58:27Speaker 3: better athlete. Fisher probably has a little bit better instincts,
- 58:30Speaker 3: you know, probably a better football player overall.
- 58:33Speaker 1: Who do they like? Who are they gonna wank? I'm
- 58:35Speaker 1: gonna say Fisher, Okay, I know this is like by
- 58:37Speaker 1: the way, everybody is Fish Fisher, like on all the
- 58:39Speaker 1: consensus is like one sixty one, seventy, you're taking him
- 58:41Speaker 1: one thirty one. You think this real? Like I I
- 58:43Speaker 1: don't think this is unrealistic for him.
- 58:45Speaker 3: Yeah, no, I think he's a fourth round pick in
- 58:47Speaker 3: most draft. I think the thing with Fisher, and I
- 58:50Speaker 3: know this is like an easy, lazy comp but like
- 58:52Speaker 3: I do see a lot of Robert splained with him.
- 58:54Speaker 3: Like he's not the biggest, he's not the most athletic guy, uh,
- 58:57Speaker 3: but he tries hard and he also has just like
- 59:01Speaker 3: great instincts, especially in coverage like Roberts. Blaine's kind of
- 59:04Speaker 3: a sneaky, underrated zone dropper in the middle of the field.
- 59:07Speaker 3: Just the way he sees things and can tell what
- 59:10Speaker 3: the route combinations and where the offense is trying to
- 59:12Speaker 3: throw the ball. I think Fisher has a little bit
- 59:14Speaker 3: of that same thing going on. He has some really
- 59:16Speaker 3: really high level zone drops on tape, especially in the
- 59:19Speaker 3: college football playoff. So I'm really high on him. I
- 59:21Speaker 3: think that he's going to be a better player than
- 59:24Speaker 3: he is.
- 59:24Speaker 1: Like this time of year is not Aiden Fisher's time
- 59:26Speaker 1: of year, Like he's not gonna go out to the
- 59:28Speaker 1: combine and run a.
- 59:29Speaker 3: Fast forty and stuff like that. But when you watch
- 59:31Speaker 3: the film, he's he's the best out of this group
- 59:33Speaker 3: in my opinion.
- 59:34Speaker 1: So that gives us a draft of if it loads Claire, Crawford,
- 59:42Speaker 1: Barber Fisher in top I'm fine with that. You like that, Yeah,
- 59:46Speaker 1: I'm good with that.
- 59:47Speaker 3: I mean, like, honestly, I know people are gonna probably
- 59:49Speaker 3: be like, you know, where are the receivers. Maybe they
- 59:51Speaker 3: don't love Crawford in terms of their dressers.
- 59:54Speaker 1: Well, I mean they have this draft, it's like, okay,
- 59:56Speaker 1: so what time is Aj Brown getting right?
- 59:57Speaker 3: And then I think Max Claire is going to be
- 59:59Speaker 3: like a really good receiver, like at tight end, you know,
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: I think that he has a chance to be you know,
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: a high end player at that position is a pass catcher.
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: I do like maybe you know ceiling is probably around
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: a Hunter Henry or something like that. But it's talked
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: about it last week, and we talked about on PU
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: that Hunter Henry might be on a Patriots Hall of
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: Fame trajectory.
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: People like that.
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: I had that take. I don't think you're wrong. I mean,
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: he's this is year six for him on the Patriots.
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: We're getting to it, all right, that was fun. We'll
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: play that exercise.
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll post that either picking long enough next year
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: that we get to I know again, I'll tweet out
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: the mock draft.
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: Okay, so we're going to take a quick break, pay
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: the bills, and we come back. I see the call
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: screens late. We got plenty of emails. We'll get to

- 1:03:53Speaker 1: You know. Celtics playoffs, Bruins playoffs.
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: Good time of year right now for Boston. Last night
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: I was at the Bruins game. I saw James Hagan's
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: play his first game in Boston. I'm not a hockey guy.
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: I'm not going to pretend that I you know, this
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: isn't you know Bruins catch twenty two guys. But I'm
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: pretty impressed with that kid that can play a little bit.
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: I'm excited about that for the Bruins. So I'm looking
- 1:04:15Speaker 3: forward to the playoffs for both those teams. Some good
- 1:04:18Speaker 3: playing games last night too, Barty for the NBA, but yeah,
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: I didn't get a chance to watch that second one
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: with that hornet. I went to bed, but the horns
- 1:04:27Speaker 3: he came.
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: Just really quickly.
- 1:04:28Speaker 3: And then we'll take all these calls, but I just
- 1:04:29Speaker 3: wanted to get this off my chest. Guys, the the
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: Amazon Prime broadcast of these basketball games, like, can we
- 1:04:37Speaker 3: do better, Jeff Bezos than this? So first of all, no,
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: they have technical difficulties and overtime of a winner or
- 1:04:45Speaker 3: not a winner go home because I guess that.
- 1:04:46Speaker 8: No, it was.
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: It was nine to ten, right, so yeah, it was.
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: A winner go home, you know, like you know, single
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: elimination game in the NBA last night, it's like a
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: one point game and overtime with the minute left and
- 1:04:59Speaker 3: the feed crashes.
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: Oh my god. Technical difficulties, good lord man.
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: And so then the other issue that they keep having,
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: and we talked about this offline, Alex, is that the
- 1:05:08Speaker 3: audio is ahead of the video. Yes, so the brod
- 1:05:12Speaker 3: you hear the play by play guy say whether or
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: not a shot went in or not before you see
- 1:05:18Speaker 3: the shot go in or not.
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: That's just unacceptable, right, that's just it was horrible.
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: Like I was watching Celtics Nicks on there last week
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: and freaking Josh Hart's ripping the Celtics. Hearts out literally
- 1:05:30Speaker 3: and he's just making threes like Steph Curry was really
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: freaking annoying. But like literally, you know, maybe a second
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: or two before the ball goes through the hoop, you
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: hear the announcer saying and it's good or bang or whatever,
- 1:05:44Speaker 3: and I'm like, well, this just ruins the whole watching
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: experience of this. So let Amazon, Let's let's do better.
- 1:05:49Speaker 3: Not a sponsor, right, I can? I can rack on
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: Amazon for.
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: I don't get well, this is I'm worried the league
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: is you know, Thursday night football. You know you're worried
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: about like the hell of the league and the strength
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: of the league and that kind of thing exactly talk
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: about the basketball. Do you know that baseball is in
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: a great spot? That has no interest in that conversation
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: when it comes to sports, because I think is wild.
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: I just don't understand what it means, like great great
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: spot for baseball the business and a good Are the
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: Red Sox in a good spot? No? But is the
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: Is the sport of baseball in a good spot right now? Yes,
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: we'll see what happens when the CBA ends, But great.
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: The interest is up. It's been a good product for
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: the most part throughout the year. It's a lot it's
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: it's a lot more. It's just better than I wasn't believe.
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: How much golf is in a good spot. People watch
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: a great spot. We ever gets is going on. Man,
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: the Masters. Everybody I know is watching the Masters.
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: Everybody but won I was today, Yet I have watch
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: like the back four. Yeah, it was. Everybody's teasing some
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: big live update. Now I haven't seen it.
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: I don't all I think golf is absolutely awful to watch.
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: Bay level torture to watch golf for me.
- 1:07:12Speaker 3: Okay, last thing and then I promise we'll get back
- 1:07:14Speaker 3: to the draft and the Patriots here. So the Celtics
- 1:07:17Speaker 3: playoff schedule came out yesterday, you know, the whole all
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: seven potential games for the first round. The first four
- 1:07:25Speaker 3: games are on four different platforms. Yeah, ABC, what Peacock,
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: NBC in Prime, So you need I guess NBC and
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: Peacock are kind of the same thing. So maybe if
- 1:07:39Speaker 3: you have Peacock, you probably get the NBC game, But
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: you need at least three different platforms to watch games
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: to watch your team in the playoffs, it's like extortion.
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: And when we talk about the.
- 1:07:52Speaker 3: Health of the league, as he likes to talk about,
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: that's not a good thing for the NBA. It's not
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: a good thing that I have to go to my
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: phone and look at the app and figure out where
- 1:08:03Speaker 3: the hell is this game on tonight, and then I
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: have to pay for this, and I have to pay
- 1:08:08Speaker 3: for that.
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: I really like the NBC broadcast.
- 1:08:11Speaker 3: I think they've done a really good job the Sunday
- 1:08:13Speaker 3: night basketball thing with round Ball Rock and Mike Turrico
- 1:08:16Speaker 3: super into that has been great all NBA season. But
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: in general, it just that is that's a problem, like
- 1:08:24Speaker 3: taking out of the fact that the RSNS don't get
- 1:08:26Speaker 3: the broadcast the first round anymore.
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: It should not.
- 1:08:30Speaker 3: It should be on network television, right, give me ABC
- 1:08:33Speaker 3: or NBC. If TNT's out, give me those two stations.
- 1:08:35Speaker 3: Don't be putting games on Peacock and Amazon Prime, Like,
- 1:08:38Speaker 3: what are we doing in Amazon? If your game's gonna
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: be on Amazon? Time up the audio correctly with the video. Okay,
- 1:08:44Speaker 3: don't ruin a playoff game in the fourth quarter with
- 1:08:47Speaker 3: all this buggy shit. Okay, I'm done. I know people
- 1:08:50Speaker 3: hate when we talk about other sports, but I just
- 1:08:52Speaker 3: had to. I couldn't help myself. All right, let's get
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: to the fall.
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: The phones.
- 1:08:56Speaker 3: The calls are lighting up here on the phone screen,
- 1:08:59Speaker 3: So sorry you kept you wait, And Patty is an aguan.
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: What's up Patty?
- 1:09:03Speaker 9: Good afternoon, guys. Hey, I want to touch on a
- 1:09:07Speaker 9: few things, just real quick. On golf, Alex, tell these
- 1:09:09Speaker 9: guys if you've played golf, it's fun to watch on TV.
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: It's what I've been saying. But I'm trying to get
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: having to go play golf. I don't think it's gonna happen. No,
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: it's not.
- 1:09:18Speaker 9: All right, So just a few things and I'll end
- 1:09:21Speaker 9: with the question. First, I'm excited. You know, we're only
- 1:09:24Speaker 9: eight days away. We get eight more days. We get
- 1:09:26Speaker 9: to see if if we make a pick in the
- 1:09:28Speaker 9: first round, we get to see who the Jets take
- 1:09:31Speaker 9: at two overall, who will ultimately trade in a couple
- 1:09:34Speaker 9: of years because they suck. And I wanted to Evan,
- 1:09:39Speaker 9: I had a very serious question for you. I hope
- 1:09:42Speaker 9: this doesn't come off like I'm coming at you, because
- 1:09:44Speaker 9: I'm really not. I'm just very interested in your thought
- 1:09:48Speaker 9: process regarding TJ. Parker. And I'll just say that, like
- 1:09:52Speaker 9: the out of all the edge rushers that are kind
- 1:09:54Speaker 9: of in the area where the Patriots are going to
- 1:09:56Speaker 9: be draft and no particular order. I Lawrence, I love Akis,
- 1:10:02Speaker 9: and I love TJ. Parker. I'm not really interested in
- 1:10:04Speaker 9: any of the other guys. But you had brought up
- 1:10:08Speaker 9: something to the effect Evan yesterday about TJ. Parker having
- 1:10:11Speaker 9: a down year, and that got me thinking back to
- 1:10:15Speaker 9: when they took Drake May and twenty twenty four, and
- 1:10:20Speaker 9: you would you've made a comment back then about looking
- 1:10:24Speaker 9: at his sophomore year and how he broke out in
- 1:10:27Speaker 9: a sophomore year, and you have the same thing regarding
- 1:10:29Speaker 9: Jamar Chase back in twenty nineteen. Obviously he didn't play
- 1:10:33Speaker 9: in twenty twenty. Sure, but like these early breakout guys,
- 1:10:37Speaker 9: and I just wanted to know, like what the differentiation
- 1:10:39Speaker 9: between guys like Chase, guys like May to like Parker
- 1:10:45Speaker 9: who had really his breakout year last year and he's
- 1:10:47Speaker 9: still only twenty one right now.
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:10:49Speaker 3: No, it's a fair point, Patty, And thanks for the call.
- 1:10:52Speaker 3: And that's why I feel like I I'm maybe warming
- 1:10:55Speaker 3: up a little bit to the TJ. Parker idea, because
- 1:10:57Speaker 3: that's usually my cup of tea, right Like, usually when
- 1:11:01Speaker 3: an early breakout player, I tend to gravitate towards those
- 1:11:05Speaker 3: guys a little bit more.
- 1:11:07Speaker 4: You know.
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: It's why I was really high on Drake May. It's
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: why I was really high.
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: On Will Campbell. Bill Campbell was a twenty one year
- 1:11:11Speaker 3: old rookie. You know that that has a ton of
- 1:11:14Speaker 3: development and growth to still go here in the NFL.
- 1:11:18Speaker 3: I'm I'm like lightly back in. I don't want to
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: say that I'm like all the way back in because
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: that's kind of hypocritical.
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: I haven't been a big TJ. Parker fan.
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: The biggest thing I see with TJ Parker that worries
- 1:11:28Speaker 3: me is stiffness and just like a lack of like
- 1:11:31Speaker 3: explosiveness off the ball. Is that because Clemson had a
- 1:11:34Speaker 3: bad season and it all just kind of went up
- 1:11:36Speaker 3: in flames for them, and maybe he wasn't, you know,
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: motivated or whatever.
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: I don't know, you know, I mean everybody on that
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: defense looked worse last year. Take that for whatever it's worth.
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: Maybe they all exceeded in twenty twenty four.
- 1:11:49Speaker 3: Him in for a thirty visit, because like if I Parker,
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: yeah no, I don't think so say, like if I
- 1:11:55Speaker 3: was the Patriots, And again, like I'm not saying to
- 1:11:56Speaker 3: doing anything wrong, but like if I was the Patriots,
- 1:11:59Speaker 3: that's the type of that I would want to have
- 1:12:01Speaker 3: in to kind of try to probe like what exactly
- 1:12:05Speaker 3: happened last year, because like he had what I think
- 1:12:09Speaker 3: he had eleven sacks and fifty one pressures in twenty four,
- 1:12:12Speaker 3: and then he had five and a half sacks and
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: forty one pressures in twenty five. So he went down
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: across the board, you know, less pressure, less sacks. It
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: wasn't just like he was close, but he wasn't finishing
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: or so, you know, it was like all the way
- 1:12:24Speaker 3: down the line. Now, what I do really like about
- 1:12:27Speaker 3: Parker if you want somebody to set the edge of
- 1:12:29Speaker 3: the defense, he can certainly do that. He's got a
- 1:12:32Speaker 3: really good long arm, really good bull rusher, can go
- 1:12:35Speaker 3: through people, play through tackles both as a you know,
- 1:12:38Speaker 3: he can stab him in long arm him to set
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: the edge. He can also you know, do that as
- 1:12:42Speaker 3: a pass rusher. He has some really high level drops
- 1:12:44Speaker 3: off the line of scrimmage as well. Like if you
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: want to do that type of stuff with him, he
- 1:12:48Speaker 3: had one. I forget which game exactly it was he
- 1:12:50Speaker 3: dropped into the flat underneath the curl and almost picked
- 1:12:54Speaker 3: it off, you know, like he's got that ability to
- 1:12:56Speaker 3: do that sort of thing.
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: So I don't hate the player, I just I would
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: have to I would have to ask some difficult questions,
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: like if we had the ability to do that, right?
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: I would love to ask some difficult questions. Is it
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: was he playing through something? Was the program in shambles?
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: Was what was going on? Because to me, it just
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: looked like.
- 1:13:15Speaker 3: He was just kind of a you know, didn't have
- 1:13:17Speaker 3: that kind of burst and explosiveness off the ball that
- 1:13:20Speaker 3: you would like to see from like a first round
- 1:13:22Speaker 3: edge play.
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: I just go back to if it was just him,
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: I'd be more concerned by it. But it was everybody
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: on that defense. And now now there is all something
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: to be said for Oh they were supposed to be good.
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: They were bad. Maybe he just checked out? Is that's
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: what it was? But that's like kind of what I
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: would want to ask, right, you know, if it could
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: be good or was it just like the coaches were
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: checked out? And you know, he wasn't put in a
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: position to exceed the players weren't putting positions to succeed
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: something like that. It could be any number of things,
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: but it's the fact it wasn't just him I think
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: helps his case. Sure, all right, Marshall's in man, what's up? Marshall?
- 1:13:57Speaker 10: Hey, Evan, Hey Alex.
- 1:13:58Speaker 8: I hope having a great.
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: Day you two.
- 1:14:00Speaker 10: Of course, I wanted to ask Van, what is your like,
- 1:14:06Speaker 10: Why do you like Denzel Boston over Chris Brazl for
- 1:14:10Speaker 10: the value that you're getting Chris Brasle at Because in
- 1:14:13Speaker 10: my personal opinion, I just think Boston had maybe had
- 1:14:16Speaker 10: a better QB at Washington than Chris Brasel had. And
- 1:14:20Speaker 10: if you put Chris Brasl six four to two hundred
- 1:14:23Speaker 10: four to three speed with someone like Drake May throws
- 1:14:26Speaker 10: the d ball the best in the league, I feel
- 1:14:29Speaker 10: like that's gonna open up a whole extra of the
- 1:14:33Speaker 10: game for the Patriots.
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: Yeah no, I mean, listen, I've been making that case
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: for Chris Brazil this whole time.
- 1:14:38Speaker 3: Marshall, Thanks for the call. I love Chris Basl's my
- 1:14:41Speaker 3: guy in this draft. Denzel Boston's just a more finished product.
- 1:14:44Speaker 3: Like it, Chris Brazil is still got some development to go.
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: When I ask you that question about one of the
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: I'm talking about at thirty one, because you would say
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: at one point you consider Brazzle thirty one, like Denzel
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: Boston at thirty one versus Chris Brasel AAD sixty three
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: is a different question.
- 1:14:59Speaker 3: Yeah, I probably guy a little bit too excited about
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: pounding the table for Chris Brasle because he's one.
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: Of my guys.
- 1:15:05Speaker 3: He's probably a little too raw to take at thirty one.
- 1:15:08Speaker 3: You know, there's some catch points stuff, there's some route
- 1:15:11Speaker 3: tree things like he doesn't run the most diverse routree.
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: A lot of that's the Tennessee offense, and I gotta
- 1:15:15Speaker 3: get my backup about that kind of stuff because it's like,
- 1:15:18Speaker 3: are you telling me about the Tennessee offense or are
- 1:15:20Speaker 3: you telling me about Chris Brasel When you say he
- 1:15:23Speaker 3: only lined up on one side of the field, Well,
- 1:15:25Speaker 3: is that because he can only line up on one
- 1:15:26Speaker 3: side of that he can't go left, he's Zoolander down right,
- 1:15:29Speaker 3: like he can't go left? Or is it because that's
- 1:15:31Speaker 3: just what they do in that style of offense and
- 1:15:34Speaker 3: in that system. You know, there's a lot of questions too,
- 1:15:36Speaker 3: like people say that he takes routes off, they literally
- 1:15:39Speaker 3: tell them to do that. They tell on run plays,
- 1:15:41Speaker 3: they literally say to their receivers, don't waste your energy
- 1:15:45Speaker 3: running down the field. They don't believe in like clear
- 1:15:47Speaker 3: outs like that, you know, in the run game, so
- 1:15:50Speaker 3: they tell them to take the playoff and just don't
- 1:15:53Speaker 3: move off the line of scrimmage. So some of that
- 1:15:56Speaker 3: stuff with Chris Brasel is about Tennessee, it's not about
- 1:15:59Speaker 3: Chris Brasel. Now with Brasos specifically, he is a little
- 1:16:03Speaker 3: bit undersize in terms of the frame and like he's thin,
- 1:16:06Speaker 3: you know, like he's six four, he's only one hundred
- 1:16:08Speaker 3: and ninety five pounds.
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: It's not quite Tychon Thorton. He's not six three hundred
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: and seventy five, you know, or one hundred and eighty.
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: But he's still a little bit on the thinner, you
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: know side. He's a lankier type of build. And then
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: the catchpoints stuff like he doesn't always attack the ball.
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: Sometimes he lets the ball come into his chest a
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: little bit too often, especially for a guy that has
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: that kind of catch radious, you would like to see
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: him be a little bit more proactive about going and
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: catch the football. But those are all things that I
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: think can develop, you know, the rout tree stuff.
- 1:16:39Speaker 3: I don't worry as much about the rowtree stuff because
- 1:16:41Speaker 3: I'm not going to ask him to run the run
- 1:16:43Speaker 3: all these different routes, Like I want him to run
- 1:16:46Speaker 3: something underneath, like a slant or an inn or something
- 1:16:48Speaker 3: like that, a second level digging out. You know, can
- 1:16:51Speaker 3: you sequence those two routes off together and then obviously
- 1:16:54Speaker 3: take the top off, like I want him to run
- 1:16:56Speaker 3: like four or five routes. I'm not drafting him to
- 1:16:58Speaker 3: run nine routes. You know, if I wanted to draft
- 1:17:00Speaker 3: that player, I'd go draft casec instead. You know, like
- 1:17:03Speaker 3: if I wanted somebody that could really break down and
- 1:17:06Speaker 3: run the full route tree. With Denzel Boston, I just
- 1:17:08Speaker 3: he's more polished, Like he's just a more complete player
- 1:17:10Speaker 3: right now. Uh, you know he can, Uh, he does
- 1:17:13Speaker 3: have multiple branches. His catch point skills are far superior
- 1:17:17Speaker 3: to Chris Brazls. You know, he's a much better player
- 1:17:19Speaker 3: at the catch point in contested situations, playing through contact.
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: I don't even think it's close there. Now. Brassels faster,
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: but Boston's definitely a much better pure hands catcher of
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: the football, And I think you said at the beginning,
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: he's more polished. That's the big one. He's more polished. Yeah, absolutely,
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: all right, who we got next? Eldred's next? What's up? Eldrid?
- 1:17:43Speaker 9: Hey?
- 1:17:43Speaker 11: How you doing? Are you doing it? Evan good? I'll
- 1:17:47Speaker 11: go disagree with you, bro I uh huh. If we
- 1:17:51Speaker 11: could get him at at thirty one, take him over
- 1:17:53Speaker 11: Boston Kate separate you know, he ate, he's good, uh
- 1:18:00Speaker 11: catch rated. He stood at that, but Brazil can block,
- 1:18:04Speaker 11: and he can run more routes than three lickers Chelane's tape.
- 1:18:08Speaker 11: He didn't get one hundred ninety yards against Georgia by
- 1:18:10Speaker 11: just running nine robbers. He burnt that secondary and he
- 1:18:14Speaker 11: also could be man pressed at one hundred and ninety
- 1:18:17Speaker 11: some pounds. So at twenty one, you don't think he
- 1:18:19Speaker 11: can get about ten fifty more pounds on him?
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: Yeah, I ain't.
- 1:18:25Speaker 11: Okay, Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I'd rather have him
- 1:18:27Speaker 11: the separate of the speed till somebody else was back up.
- 1:18:30Speaker 11: But that's a pipe dream of minds, because I just
- 1:18:34Speaker 11: hope the Patriots don't get duped into not drafting the
- 1:18:38Speaker 11: wide receiver they can. They gonna get a j. Brown
- 1:18:41Speaker 11: because Norman Roseman, if he get what he wants, Patrich
- 1:18:45Speaker 11: ain't nowhere close for what you call even though they
- 1:18:47Speaker 11: got Wicks the other uh trade for Wicks last week.
- 1:18:51Speaker 11: That means Brown might be on the way out. But
- 1:18:53Speaker 11: Roseman is a businessman. He's gonna get his first and
- 1:18:56Speaker 11: suckond round. Don't care where he want to go to.
- 1:18:59Speaker 9: He gonna get here.
- 1:19:00Speaker 11: That just how we don't get on that. That's what
- 1:19:02Speaker 11: I'm hoping.
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, no, I can receive it.
- 1:19:05Speaker 11: Thirty one.
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: I'm with you, Eldred, I'm with you.
- 1:19:08Speaker 3: I don't know about thirty one, but I definitely feel
- 1:19:11Speaker 3: myself thinking you can't just let the Eagles back you
- 1:19:16Speaker 3: into this corner with a J.
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: Brown where you have to take a you know, make
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: a trade for a J. Brown. You know, look, we
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: don't have to keep going on and on about Brazl.
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: You know. I love the guy.
- 1:19:26Speaker 3: So I'm hoping that hands up Patriot, you know, based
- 1:19:29Speaker 3: off of some of these projections. I think it was
- 1:19:31Speaker 3: mel Kiper this morning. He had his mock draft out
- 1:19:34Speaker 3: today that had them being able to take Brazil at
- 1:19:36Speaker 3: sixty three.
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: So maybe we've all win here. You know, I think
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: like the third round.
- 1:19:42Speaker 3: Yeah, maybe I get the player that I want and
- 1:19:44Speaker 3: they get him in the second round instead of the
- 1:19:46Speaker 3: first round, and everybody uh comes home happy.
- 1:19:49Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: I think that that's uh, you know, a possibility there.
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: He said one other thing that I wanted to uh.
- 1:19:55Speaker 3: Touch on, but I think we talked enough about Denzel
- 1:19:57Speaker 3: Boston and Chris Brasel.
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: So Zach in New Hampshire. What's up, Zach.
- 1:20:02Speaker 11: Thig?
- 1:20:03Speaker 9: I thanks checking my call, Evan. I just saw your big.
- 1:20:06Speaker 8: Board with Kenyan Sadik at number one, Yes, wondering how
- 1:20:10Speaker 8: high do you think they'd have to trade up to
- 1:20:12Speaker 8: get him and what would be like your ideal usage
- 1:20:14Speaker 8: of a playmaker like that as a rookie and in
- 1:20:16Speaker 8: his career.
- 1:20:17Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I you know, thanks for the call, Zach,
- 1:20:20Speaker 3: and thanks for plugging the Big Board. So the big
- 1:20:21Speaker 3: Board is officially up. Is my like one not my
- 1:20:24Speaker 3: one thing, but like my biggest thing that I do
- 1:20:26Speaker 3: every year with the top fifty, and this is my
- 1:20:29Speaker 3: my thing of record, you know, like I don't you know,
- 1:20:32Speaker 3: we do mock draft.
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: But we mostly just do those because people like him, Like,
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: it's not really my thing.
- 1:20:37Speaker 3: The big Board is, like you know, if I say
- 1:20:40Speaker 3: that I hit on players they actually drafted. This is
- 1:20:43Speaker 3: where I sourced it. I put Sadik at the top.
- 1:20:46Speaker 3: I was reluctant to do that because I really don't
- 1:20:48Speaker 3: think he's going to be there. But what I went
- 1:20:50Speaker 3: back to in my mind was Christian Gonzalez in twenty
- 1:20:53Speaker 3: twenty three.
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: Right. I didn't think Gonzalez was going to be there either,
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: but I loved him. I'd have thought that he was
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: an awesome player, awesome prospect, and so I just put
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: him up there at number one on the big board
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: because it felt right. And then he ends up falling
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: to the Patriots because of God only knows what, like
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: he wasn't alpha enough or something for the people picking
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: ahead of him, which is ridiculous. But Emanuel Forbes went
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: ahead of him, right is that who? Yeah, one spot
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: ahead of him.
- 1:21:20Speaker 3: Forbes has kind of had a little bit of a
- 1:21:21Speaker 3: resurrection with the Rams, but he's certainly not Christian Gonzalez.
- 1:21:26Speaker 3: So I had I put Sadik at the top because
- 1:21:28Speaker 3: I kind of thought it was similar to with Gonzalez.
- 1:21:31Speaker 3: The other reason why I put him there the number
- 1:21:34Speaker 3: one guy, I just kind of want to be like
- 1:21:36Speaker 3: a really special player, like I don't want to put
- 1:21:39Speaker 3: like a guy.
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: I just kind of like him number one two, now
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: you're going to do Medoro. Mezzadora was number two.
- 1:21:44Speaker 3: But you know, the age thing with me so like
- 1:21:46Speaker 3: it just didn't feel right, like he was a little
- 1:21:48Speaker 3: too old for my liking.
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: He's twenty five.
- 1:21:50Speaker 3: You mentioned the arm length with Ruben Bain Catchus Howell
- 1:21:54Speaker 3: has the same thing. I'm pretty sure that there hasn't
- 1:21:56Speaker 3: been a twenty five year old rookie draft in the
- 1:21:58Speaker 3: first round in like a decade either.
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: Uh so.
- 1:22:02Speaker 3: Mesidor Is would be you know, it's not quite Brandon Whedon, right,
- 1:22:06Speaker 3: We're not drafting like a twenty eight year old in
- 1:22:08Speaker 3: the first round a quarterback, but it's you know, he's older.
- 1:22:12Speaker 3: So the role for Sidiq is an interesting one. You know,
- 1:22:17Speaker 3: I didn't really think of this comparison, and some other
- 1:22:21Speaker 3: people did, like the Vernon Davis comparison that's been going around.
- 1:22:25Speaker 3: You know, I think that's probably a more apt comparison
- 1:22:28Speaker 3: than some of you know, I didn't really I couldn't
- 1:22:31Speaker 3: really think of a great one like he reminds me
- 1:22:32Speaker 3: the most of the in the current tight ends of
- 1:22:35Speaker 3: like Harold Fannon, but he's a much better athlete and
- 1:22:37Speaker 3: a bigger like name brand, and like you know, went
- 1:22:40Speaker 3: to Oregon instead of Bowling Green and like you know that,
- 1:22:43Speaker 3: so I kind of called him big school Harold Fannin,
- 1:22:45Speaker 3: you know, just like you know, like elite level prospect,
- 1:22:48Speaker 3: but similar mold as Harold Fannin. The role to me
- 1:22:52Speaker 3: for Sidik early on is still going to be would
- 1:22:54Speaker 3: still be backing up Hunter Henry.
- 1:22:57Speaker 8: No.
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: I think they would play a lot more twelve and
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: talking about probably.
- 1:23:02Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, because like Sidika has a lot of flexibility,
- 1:23:05Speaker 3: like he's more of an athlete, so he can move
- 1:23:07Speaker 3: it around the formation a little bit more. Uh you know,
- 1:23:10Speaker 3: I think that if they want to start getting a
- 1:23:12Speaker 3: little bit more involved in the bootlegs and the outside
- 1:23:15Speaker 3: zones and all that stuff to feature that moving and
- 1:23:18Speaker 3: moving the pocket a little bit more with Drake may
- 1:23:21Speaker 3: you know, he's an assassin on those types of routes,
- 1:23:23Speaker 3: like crossing routes at different levels, wheels out of the
- 1:23:27Speaker 3: backfield where he kind of just like sneaks up the sideline,
- 1:23:30Speaker 3: uh seam runs obviously like he's gonna just his his
- 1:23:34Speaker 3: speed and his size, He's gonna eat people up with
- 1:23:38Speaker 3: that I think he can block a little bit better
- 1:23:40Speaker 3: than people think, you know, Like I hear sometimes he's
- 1:23:43Speaker 3: not much of a blocker. I think that's sort of
- 1:23:46Speaker 3: just judging him based off the size, like he's only
- 1:23:48Speaker 3: two hundred and forty pounds.
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: I think he's a little bit better blocker.
- 1:23:51Speaker 3: But he's a true, like f move tight end like
- 1:23:54Speaker 3: he's not He's not a hand in the dirt inline guy.
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: I don't think. I think he's gonna be a little
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: bit more.
- 1:24:01Speaker 3: You're gonna have to be a little bit more creative
- 1:24:02Speaker 3: with his usage then just putting him as like that
- 1:24:05Speaker 3: traditional tight end. But I do think that, you know,
- 1:24:07Speaker 3: because I think people hear that Alex and they probably
- 1:24:09Speaker 3: think a little bit of like Johnny Smith in this offense,
- 1:24:12Speaker 3: And is there too much of that? I think the
- 1:24:14Speaker 3: Deek's a little bit looser than Johnny Smith as a mover, Like,
- 1:24:16Speaker 3: I think he's got a little bit more quickness in
- 1:24:19Speaker 3: twitch at the top of the route that he'll be
- 1:24:20Speaker 3: able to get open. Is he hunter Henry where he's
- 1:24:23Speaker 3: gonna settle and sit and open up and attack leverage
- 1:24:26Speaker 3: and do all the right things as a receiver. Maybe
- 1:24:29Speaker 3: not right away, you know, that's probably the part of
- 1:24:31Speaker 3: his game that needs a little bit of developing, but
- 1:24:33Speaker 3: he's young and he'll figure that out. The athleticism and
- 1:24:36Speaker 3: the mold is just too good, like all the clay.
- 1:24:39Speaker 3: Speaking of the tight ends.
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: Real quick, people love more mock draft on Twitter. Good good.
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: I feel like that's get a little worried when people
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: like it too much, like were we unrealistic or.
- 1:24:49Speaker 3: Tackle in round one? And then you know, you get
- 1:24:53Speaker 3: the you tap into the depth of the edge class. Yeah,
- 1:24:56Speaker 3: that feels to me like that's the way that they're
- 1:24:59Speaker 3: they're leaning. No, I don't have any inside information. I'm
- 1:25:02Speaker 3: just reading the tea leafs.
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: Sure, you know, we listen to what Ellie Wolf said.
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: That's how I feel about it.
- 1:25:07Speaker 3: A good question here from James and Rhode Island on
- 1:25:10Speaker 3: the tight end, since we were just talking about Sadik.
- 1:25:13Speaker 3: He said, would you rather draft the guy who can
- 1:25:16Speaker 3: block but might never really develop as a receiver or
- 1:25:20Speaker 3: a guy who has receiving skills but may never develop
- 1:25:22Speaker 3: as a blocker.
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: This is the question, right, Well, that's type of extream
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: version of the question. Yes, a guy that will never
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: be a receiver? Yes, No, I don't want to draft
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: Lee Smith, no offense to Lee Smith. I don't want
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: to draft Lee Smith. You know, lay career Dwayne Allen, right,
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: late career Dwayn Allen. What I said from the beginning is,
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: if you show me a guy that's like eighty eighty
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: five percent the receiver, yeah, but twice as good of
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: a blocker or more as the next closest guy, give
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: me the second guy. Give me the guy that, okay's
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: close as a receiver, Raybe, he's a little bit behind,
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: He's not quite as dynamic, but he's going to be
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: a legitimate factor in the run game. I would rather
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: that guy than guy that's the pure receiver. So if
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: the guy's never going to be able to catch, no, no,
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: you you have to I hope people don't think we
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: went too far in the other direction either. I didn't
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: mean to do that. Tiden needs to be part of
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: this offense. In the passing game, Drake may likes throwing
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: a tight ends. He likes throwing a big targets. It's
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: always been a big position under Josh McDaniels. Has to
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: be able to contribute as a wide receiver, obviously, but
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: if you're talking about I'll put numbers on it. A
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: guy who's upside is like a thousand yard receiver versus
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: a guy who's upside is like eight hundred yards. But
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: he's also going to be a legit factor in the
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: run game. Oh yeah, give me the guy wo's gonna
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: go for eight hundred yards and can block his ass off. Yeah,
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: hundred percent.
- 1:26:36Speaker 3: I think that the thing at tight end that I
- 1:26:39Speaker 3: that you I sort of gravitate towards is who are
- 1:26:43Speaker 3: the guys that can block that also have really good
- 1:26:45Speaker 3: athletic profiles. Yeah, because my guess is is that that
- 1:26:48Speaker 3: guy probably wasn't tapped into enough as a receiver Discausdell
- 1:26:52Speaker 3: just because of the nature of the offense that he
- 1:26:54Speaker 3: played in college.
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: Well, and colleges as a whole just don't really involve
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: tight end anymore. It's kind of the position has almost
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: become devalued in the way like running backs have at
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: the college level. Yeah, it's one of the biggest disconnects
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: between college and the pro. So if you can give me,
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: you know, just for a couple of examples, you know,
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: Delp is probably like the top one hundred example of this.
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: Rausch had a little bit of receiving production at Stanford
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: last year, did he have like six hundred yards? Yeah,
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: he had a little bit of productions for college football,
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: that's yeah, legit delp. You know guys like on day
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: three like Bentley, Boar Kicker, I'm forgetting one. You know raredan,
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: I'm not sure they're super high on rared in. You know,
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: injuries like guys like that that have, you know, really
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: good athletic profiles. You know, just to use a number
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: like relative athletics score, you know RAS over nine. You know,
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: Marlin Klein from Michigan another one, but didn't necessarily get
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: the volume of targets to produce, but can block and
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: have the athletic profile. We've seen that then translated in
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: the pro to really good players.
- 1:27:59Speaker 3: There's also obviously kittles like the Apass like he's the ceiling,
- 1:28:03Speaker 3: but it's happened in other places too.
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: There are some guys like Bentley where they're just not
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: used as receivers, like okay, we're gonna run two tight ends,
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: second tight end blocks, but then the top ten end
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: graduates or moves on or transfer to the that like, yeah,
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: Bentley didn't have a ton of chances to be a receiver. Yeah,
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: and he was he put up some production last year
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: when he finally did get exactly So there's that thing too.
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: I'll give you another one. I don't remember what his
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: RAS score was, but when I had Dane Brugo on
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: my podcast last week and I yeah, I asked Dane
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: Brugler for his my guys because he was a better
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: person to ask, sure, And the first guy he said
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: was Riley Nowakowski from Indiana. Yeah, he's just a little
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: underside like he's more of like an.
- 1:28:40Speaker 11: H back to.
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: But yeah, I think he fits in that in that category.
- 1:28:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I just think that history tells us that athleticism
- 1:28:48Speaker 3: wins at that position. That's just I would say more
- 1:28:51Speaker 3: so in some ways than college production. Yeah, the bigger
- 1:28:55Speaker 3: translation to the pros there is just pure athleticism at
- 1:28:58Speaker 3: that spot. If there's any position where like combine and
- 1:29:01Speaker 3: pro deat day testing still matters, its tight end, Like
- 1:29:04Speaker 3: that's the one position where it really translates. So if
- 1:29:07Speaker 3: you can get a guy that is already a pretty
- 1:29:10Speaker 3: good blocker on film in college and then also has
- 1:29:14Speaker 3: like a really good athletic profile, I think that's the
- 1:29:17Speaker 3: sweet spot.
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: To me, I'd much rather teach a guy the nuances
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: of receiver.
- 1:29:23Speaker 3: Yeah, than have to like expect Eli Stowers to develop
- 1:29:26Speaker 3: as a blocker right now. He mentioned in the email
- 1:29:29Speaker 3: Max Clayer. I think Max Clayer can block enough. I think, fine,
- 1:29:33Speaker 3: he's somewhere in the middle, like between Stowers and Rausch.
- 1:29:38Speaker 3: He's like in the middle of there. He's not He's
- 1:29:40Speaker 3: not enough functional blocker.
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: Yeah, And that's that's why I kind of compare him
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: to Hunter Henry, who I think is a functional blocker.
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: If a guy has I think he could be a
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: better blocker than Henry is. Maybe he's not right now,
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: I think he could be not a lot, but a little.
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: But that's what I'm talking about, Like, he's probably not
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: quite the receiver that Stowers is, right, but i'd put
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: them in the same ballpark. Yeah, and he is. They're
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: not in the same ballpark as blockers. So that's what
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: I'm talking about in that sense. Give me that guy
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: that's going to offer that.
- 1:30:09Speaker 3: Yep, all right, here's some would you rather sort like
- 1:30:12Speaker 3: pick'em's for us kind of what we were just doing
- 1:30:14Speaker 3: with the PFF exercise from Barcel at thirty one. He
- 1:30:18Speaker 3: has three different scenarios for us. All right, Denzel Boston
- 1:30:22Speaker 3: or Casey Concepcion.
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: Oh Cacc, especially if they're getting a J. Brown. Casey
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: c is a better player. I think Denzel Boston's more
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: what they're trying to get. If they know they're getting
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: a J. Brown, well, they're not.
- 1:30:33Speaker 3: Draft them both. They're not doing both. I think they're
- 1:30:36Speaker 3: gonna draft the first round receiver and trade for a J.
- 1:30:38Speaker 11: Brown.
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: If it's a guy like Cacc. They could not if
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: it's Denzel Boston.
- 1:30:41Speaker 3: I think it's too much invested in the receiver at
- 1:30:43Speaker 3: that point in terms of just in terms of capital
- 1:30:45Speaker 3: invested in TJ.
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: Parker, is Zion Young? I go Parker here? Yeah, Cash
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: is how or male Kai Lawrence? You know, I go Howell,
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: but I think they would They might go Lawrence is better, built, better,
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: for sure. I think Hal is a bit more like refined,
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: more skilled player right now, but Lawrence is Bill better Lawrence.
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: I can see that the ice ball idiom. If two
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: guys run to first base in five seconds, but one
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: guy does with perfect form and one guy does with
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: sloppy form, who do you draft? I don't know. I
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: always get this wrong. You draft a guy with sloppy form,
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: because if they're both getting there in five second. You
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: teach the guy, you teach them better for him, he's
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: gonna have a shorter time. Okay, I gotcha. All right.
- 1:31:23Speaker 3: I could feel that I would go Howl, but I
- 1:31:26Speaker 3: think Lawrence. There's definitely a case that Lawrence has higher.
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: Upside because you said Howl's more polished, which is true,
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: but I think they're kind of close. So that's a
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: little malky. Lawrence has this.
- 1:31:38Speaker 3: He has this little like false step in his his
- 1:31:42Speaker 3: get off, as when he rushes the passer, he his
- 1:31:46Speaker 3: I want to say it's it depends on which size
- 1:31:48Speaker 3: he's on. I guess his front foot steps underneath itself twice,
- 1:31:51Speaker 3: so he puts the front foot on the ground in
- 1:31:53Speaker 3: the same spot, yeah, before he goes forward.
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: And like that little thing. If he could just like
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: learn to just kind of come out of against like
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: a sprinter, where like all your momentum is moving forward,
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: even that little bit of tweak to his footwork, I
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: think could go a long way and like really help
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: him really.
- 1:32:09Speaker 3: Unlocked out explosiveness. That sounds like such a little stupid,
- 1:32:12Speaker 3: nuanced thing. So if you're that's why I'm I'm saying
- 1:32:16Speaker 3: that to sell you on Malcy Lawrence right like that. Yeah,
- 1:32:19Speaker 3: these are the little nuance that's very coach because he's
- 1:32:22Speaker 3: very you know, he's new to rushing on the ball.
- 1:32:24Speaker 3: He's played off the ball earlier on in his college career.
- 1:32:28Speaker 3: All right, at sixty three. These are not exactly the
- 1:32:31Speaker 3: same players, but it's fine. Jack Goldey or Jashn Barram.
- 1:32:38Speaker 3: I keep saying Jack Jake gold who he meant, Yeah.
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: I don't know why. I like versatility. Yeah, Barham is
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: definitely more of an head rusher than gold. Gold is
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: pure gold. Yeah, gold is gonna come downhill stop to run.
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: Good at it. Chris Bell or Jeremy Bernard. It's a
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: good one, oh man. And I like Jeremy. I think
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: he's not getting enough credit. Yeah, because he's not play
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: He's not sexy, you know. Is Alabama isn't what it was?
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: I know, but like running like wide open through zones
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: just doesn't do it for me when Ty Simpson's missing
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: you left and right. Yeah, it just he's not as
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: flashy as some of these other guys. If not for
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: the ACL it's Chris Bell. Yeah, and you know, for
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: the Patriots, there's a better fit for Bell than Bernard. Oh,
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: it's a tough one for the Patriots. I'm going Jeremy Bernard.
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: I think I have to. I think I have to
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: go Bernard because of the knee, Because of the knee.
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: Bell to those two of my favorite receivers in the draft.
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: Whoever sends that email that's mean making me pick This
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: is a me thing probably, but it's just Patriots wide
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: receiver PTSD.
- 1:33:47Speaker 3: Chris Bell is in that archetype of like he's either
- 1:33:50Speaker 3: going to be leviska Schinalter, he's gonna be a J.
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: Brown and there's like no in between. Yeah, right, Like
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: you know, he's a J Brown, maybe a little bit
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: Deebo Samuel like that. I'd say more AJ Brown because
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: at the downfield like receiving skills that he has, that's
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: like the ceiling than the flour is like all these
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: other guys that we've tried in this mold, Xavier Lagette, right,
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: you know, La Viscus Shenault, you know, go on down
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: the line like nikkil Harry was kind of not really
- 1:34:18Speaker 1: not as explosive as those guys, but similar. Jennings Dunker,
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: Caleb Tiernan, Jennings Center. We actually did that one earlier.
- 1:34:24Speaker 3: Yeah, Dunker's nasty Tiernan is probably a better pass bocker,
- 1:34:28Speaker 3: though he has a bunch on at ninety five.
- 1:34:31Speaker 1: I'll just do a couple. Uh, there's a good one.
- 1:34:36Speaker 3: Dylan Everett or Takario Davis from Washington, Daylon Dalen, Sorry, Dyalen.
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: I really like Dalen Everett. We even talked about him
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: a lot because I don't know if they'll go corner
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: that high. Yeah, he looks like a Patriots corner man.
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: He really don't. And he had some slip ups in
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: big games, which is probably why he's not top one
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: hundred pick, and that is a valid reason for concern.
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: I love his upside, Yeah, I think he is legit,
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: like number two corner upside. Yeah. Probably go Dale and Evert, Yeah,
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: go Dale ver Ta. Takara Davis I liked, you know,
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: kind of has that Brandon Browner like size thing going on.
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: He got beat a lot of inside though, like slants
- 1:35:09Speaker 1: and stuff like that gave him a tough time. This
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: was Dan Brugler's had his seven round mock draft today.
- 1:35:16Speaker 3: Okay, I'm not going to reallyad the whole thing. I'll
- 1:35:18Speaker 3: just read you through one thirty one. What he has
- 1:35:21Speaker 3: for the Patriots Blake Miller, Jean Stribbling at sixty three,
- 1:35:26Speaker 3: Bryce Betcher at ninety five, then Max Llewellyn like I always,
- 1:35:31Speaker 3: but I always Butcher his name, and then Nate Bore
- 1:35:33Speaker 3: kicker A and m at one thirty one. My takeaway
- 1:35:38Speaker 3: from this is I don't dislike any of these players,
- 1:35:40Speaker 3: maybe a little bit late on edge, you know, I
- 1:35:42Speaker 3: would probably would have gone edge a little bit earlier
- 1:35:45Speaker 3: than leuw Wellen in the fourth round. My bigger takeaway though,
- 1:35:48Speaker 3: is that all these guys outside of Miller, you know,
- 1:35:51Speaker 3: the the rest of the names I mentioned, I was
- 1:35:54Speaker 3: hoping that they were all going to be there a
- 1:35:55Speaker 3: round later than Dane took them.
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: Well, I think that might also, you're it was my
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: first thought too, But maybe that's the adjustment we need
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: to make of Yep, you know we used to look
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: I shouldn't say we used to the last two years,
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: we're looking at the third round is really the end
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: of the second right now we're looking at the third
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: round as really the start of the fourth. So it's
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: almost like a two round difference. You know what the
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: Patriots third round pick was last year versus this year?
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: Like if you told me that they went that still
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: feels stribbling is the big Butcher. I could see stribling.
- 1:36:25Speaker 1: That's a bit that's high.
- 1:36:26Speaker 3: If you told me that they went Miller, yeah, and
- 1:36:29Speaker 3: then put an edge at sixty three and then stribbling Betcher,
- 1:36:32Speaker 3: I'd be like, yeah, hell yeah, hell of a draft.
- 1:36:35Speaker 3: All these guys feel like they took him around earlier,
- 1:36:37Speaker 3: which I think is more about us than it is
- 1:36:39Speaker 3: about Dan because he's He's Dane, so yeah, he probably
- 1:36:42Speaker 3: knows what he's talking about more than we do.
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: That worries me, that mock draft. Worries me that they're
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: gonna have to go earlier on these guys. Is it
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: worth it for Blake Miller to get to thirty one?
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: Is it all worth it if they take guys one
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: round earlier because Miller should not be there?
- 1:37:01Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, okay, maybe I just feel like it's around
- 1:37:04Speaker 3: early for all those other guys.
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: But Miller's such a fall and I wonder if maybe
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: in a draft like this is just what you gotta do.
- 1:37:11Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, here's some questions from Tim and California,
- 1:37:15Speaker 3: just some like draft, you know, would you rathers or whatever?
- 1:37:20Speaker 3: What is the earliest you would take Adam Randall from Clemson.
- 1:37:23Speaker 3: I'm gonna say fifth round, Yeah, one seventy one.
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: Them away in the interview. You know he's gonna return
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: kicks too. He's got that's gonna play at least on
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: special teams. I'll say one seventy one. Yeah, we'll call
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: like one fifty if they trade up or trade back. Yeah,
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: I think one seventy one is comfortable. Yeah, over under
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: one and a half linebacker's taken.
- 1:37:43Speaker 3: I'm assuming he's talking like true inside linebackers, not edge rushers,
- 1:37:46Speaker 3: but linebackers.
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: Over under one and a half, I'm going to say under.
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: But do they draft one of those bigger special team
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: safeties like a Michael Taffy or somebody. I'll say under,
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: but I don't feel great about it. Yeah. I wonder
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: like if they draft, like, like you said, like a
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: bigger safety, who was that like Missouri linebacker that they
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: met with, Who's like going to be a seventh round
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: pick and he's just going to play specials he's a linebacker, right,
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: something like that. I'll say over under one and a
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: half linebackers, rookie linebackers that play significant snaps for them
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: this year. I'll say under significant defensive snap. Yeah, agreed.
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: I think it's one one linebacker investment, maybe one like
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: a special teams but he's listed as a linebacker.
- 1:38:30Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:38:31Speaker 3: What is your guest on trading picks? Is it more
- 1:38:33Speaker 3: likely to add picks for next year or move up
- 1:38:35Speaker 3: in the third round?
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: So who is it today? Uh? Oh uh? DJ Dane
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: Jeremiah had his call and he mentioned that nobody wants
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: to trade twenty twenty seven picks. Yeah, it doesn't surprise me,
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: which we talked about at the top of the show.
- 1:38:48Speaker 1: So what was the other part of the question, Uh,
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: ad picks for next year or move up in the
- 1:38:53Speaker 1: third round. I think they're gonna try to move up.
- 1:38:56Speaker 1: But what I think we're going to see? And Evan,
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: I'm gonna rush you here. Yes, but they over under
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: nine and a half total selections for the Patriots. I'm
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: gonna say over because I think it's over. I think
- 1:39:14Speaker 1: it's easy to sit here and say that they would
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: love to trade the picks. Actually executing and figuring out
- 1:39:19Speaker 1: where to trade the picks is another. Well, the other
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: the other part of that is because they like they
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: still have the flexibility, but do they go down and
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: move up and use some of those picks to get
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: a little higher than they otherwise would. So, for instance,
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: going off of the last couple of years the Vikings,
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: that's a trade down. But pretend they're on the other
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: side of it's just they trade like this. Yeah, in
- 1:39:40Speaker 1: twenty twenty five, the Vikings traded ninety seven and one
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: eighty seven for one oh two and one two. So
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: they moved down five spots on day three. Yeah, but
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: they moved up or on day two, but they moved
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: up forty spots on day three, So you move down
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: five to move up forty. I think we're gonna see
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: them and in one way the other make a trade
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: like that. Do they move you know, ninety five? Do
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: they move up there and then one of those six
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: round picks becomes a late seventh, right, or maybe it's
- 1:40:10Speaker 1: the other way around. Maybe they move down from say
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: sixty three or even thirty one and turn one of
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: those six into like a fourth or something like that.
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: I think you're gonna see them make those kinds of trades.
- 1:40:21Speaker 1: So I do think they're gonna move around the board.
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: I don't the idea that they're gonna like throw four
- 1:40:26Speaker 1: picks at a team to move up that hasn't been
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: their mo historically, so it might be more just we're
- 1:40:34Speaker 1: gonna move in one spot here in another spot there.
- 1:40:37Speaker 3: Doesn't feel very Green Bay like, right Like, if you
- 1:40:39Speaker 3: want to be a draft and developed team, then you
- 1:40:41Speaker 3: got to make picks. You don't want to consolidate. You
- 1:40:44Speaker 3: want to make ten twelve picks a draft. So there's
- 1:40:48Speaker 3: a question yesterday we talked about on p s. Right here, sir,
- 1:40:52Speaker 3: I'll give you one more because I just found this
- 1:40:53Speaker 3: applies more to them. Yeah, in twenty twenty four, this
- 1:40:56Speaker 3: is really, as Felger would say, playing with yourself on
- 1:40:58Speaker 3: the draft board.
- 1:41:00Speaker 1: Your favorite thing to do. The Niners moved from sixty
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: three to sixty four. They moved back one spot. Yeah,
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: but then they turned two to eleven into one seventy three. Okay,
- 1:41:10Speaker 1: says to Orb. Here's another one from last year. The
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: Lions moved up from sixty to fifty seven. Or let's
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: go the way the Broncos moved down from fifty seven
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: to sixty and they turned two thirty into one thirty.
- 1:41:24Speaker 1: So they moved back three spots in the second round
- 1:41:27Speaker 1: and then moved up one hundred spots on Day three.
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: That's the kind of trade. I think the Patriots are
- 1:41:32Speaker 1: gonna try to make okay.
- 1:41:34Speaker 3: So yesterday, I'm PU and I is there a game
- 1:41:37Speaker 3: being paid at like Wrigley Field or something in college
- 1:41:39Speaker 3: football game like Notre Dame.
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: Yeah, they've done that the last couple of years. Northwestern
- 1:41:43Speaker 1: played there last year. I don't know.
- 1:41:44Speaker 3: There's some game last that is on the college football
- 1:41:48Speaker 3: schedule next year, coming in twenty twenty six.
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: I'm sure there a Northwestern usually plays. No, it was
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: somebody better than that. It was like Notre Noere games
- 1:41:56Speaker 1: played games there, Notre Dame versus somebody had some Wrigley
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: Field or some like other you know, neutral site game.
- 1:42:03Speaker 1: My name is playing here next year. Now, it wasn't
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: that Navy or so. The question was, would me and
- 1:42:10Speaker 1: you would we go to this game that's being played somewhere?
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: I don't know, I shouldn't. This would be better if
- 1:42:18Speaker 1: I remembered or the Iron Bowl Iron Bowls, So I said,
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: so hot.
- 1:42:23Speaker 3: So I said, forget about this other game, because it
- 1:42:26Speaker 3: like was going to be like a ten to seven
- 1:42:28Speaker 3: rock bite.
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: I'm going to the SEC game in the actually fits
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: Bryan Denny. Yeah, that is I mean in terms of
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: my bucket list of football games to go to, especially
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: Army Navy wasn't ahead of it, but it was up there,
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: especially now like done Army Navy. Yeah, I Iron Bowl
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: might of all the football games I go to when
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: I've been with Super Bowl, Army Iron Bowl might be
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: number one. I'd go with you to the Iron Bowl.
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: That sounds like a lot of I mean that because
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: your thing is always like you'll watch high level anything. Yes,
- 1:42:56Speaker 1: that's true, and that is as call football as it gets.
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: I mean, that's that's that's right up there with you know,
- 1:43:05Speaker 1: any of the robbery games at LSU. You know, you
- 1:43:08Speaker 1: go to a you go to a night game at LSU,
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: that's going to be an all timer. Red Rivers high
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: on my Yes, you would like because red River is
- 1:43:15Speaker 1: like the there's other stuff going on, it's not just
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: the football. Michigan Notre Dame obviously, I wish they'd bring
- 1:43:20Speaker 1: back or Michigan Ohio State. I wish they'd bring back
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: Michigan Notre Dame. I like that one. So I guess
- 1:43:26Speaker 1: there's a place in Penn State. Any rivalry game at
- 1:43:29Speaker 1: Penn State, Penn State, pit Penn State, West Virginia, Penn State,
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: Ohio State. There's this place called Dreamland Barbecue.
- 1:43:35Speaker 3: I guess that's must be like the big barbecue spot
- 1:43:38Speaker 3: down either an Auburn or Tuscaloosa, which one.
- 1:43:43Speaker 1: So I said, over under ten ribs eat in that
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: Dreamland Barbecue. If we're going to a place with ribs
- 1:43:47Speaker 1: for barbecue, ship over ten by a lot. The site
- 1:43:52Speaker 1: games next year, like the ones that are kind of
- 1:43:54Speaker 1: Notre Dame but North Carolina TCU in Ireland. No, it
- 1:43:58Speaker 1: wasn't this week zero. No, see State at Virginia. That's
- 1:44:01Speaker 1: in Brazil. No, it was in America. All right. Let
- 1:44:04Speaker 1: me see that's at Mercedes Benz in Atlanta, Nissan Stadium,
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: hard Rock, Oh wisconstant. Notre Dame at Lambeau. That's what
- 1:44:13Speaker 1: it was. That's what it was. The Iron Bowl over
- 1:44:16Speaker 1: that that's probably gonna be Oh my god, that's probably
- 1:44:19Speaker 1: gonna rule. It's gonna be ten to seven. It's you've
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: been to Lambau in the fall. That's on September sixth,
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: So you're not going there when it's freezing. I know
- 1:44:26Speaker 1: is highway, but I'd rather go for a Packers game.
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: But I was hoping this is gonna sound wisconstinant Notre
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: Dame at Lambeau. That would go kind of it is
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: gonna sound bad, Lambo. I don't want to say it
- 1:44:39Speaker 1: was underwhelming, because that's the wrong way to put it. Yeah,
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: it's you're in a place where there's a lot of
- 1:44:46Speaker 1: history and you can feel that the stadium itself is
- 1:44:49Speaker 1: just a football stadium. Like it's not I don't know
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: about that. I think this is a you thing.
- 1:44:54Speaker 3: So no, no, because like for example, and maybe this
- 1:44:57Speaker 3: applies more to baseball than it does to football, but
- 1:45:01Speaker 3: like it's a dumb but like Fenway Park, like it's
- 1:45:04Speaker 3: the Green Monster.
- 1:45:05Speaker 1: It's like there's like the signature features. Yeah right, because
- 1:45:08Speaker 1: it's a football Yeah. Yeah, yeah, it's always gonna be
- 1:45:11Speaker 1: different when it comes to city.
- 1:45:12Speaker 3: You know, we were in San Francisco. We went to
- 1:45:14Speaker 3: a Giants game. That is a beautiful ballpark. Yeah you
- 1:45:17Speaker 3: know San Diego, I know ballpark like the Lambo's it's
- 1:45:23Speaker 3: a football stadium. Now, it's extremely you can feel like
- 1:45:27Speaker 3: you can literally feel the frozen star and curly Lambeau
- 1:45:31Speaker 3: and you know what always stands beard and dumb.
- 1:45:35Speaker 1: But they have the yellow fence around. No other league
- 1:45:39Speaker 1: or no other stadium has something that pops like that
- 1:45:42Speaker 1: right around the sideline, specifically a fence. It feels old school.
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: I think i'd like it. The other neutral site game,
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: we could go to Paul Brown Stadium Miami versus Cincinnati.
- 1:45:52Speaker 1: You go see trags and then the other one I
- 1:45:54Speaker 1: should put on the list. That's really good. And it
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: sucks they're not doing it like they've done in the
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: past because the stadium in Jacksonville is under construction. Florida,
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: Georgia the world's largest out to outdoor cocktail party. Yeah,
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: is a neutral site game every year and that's my
- 1:46:09Speaker 1: actually friends who went to That's supposed to be a
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: ton of fun. But well, that conversation is under construction.
- 1:46:13Speaker 1: They're doing it Mercedes Benz this year, and then I
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: think they're gonna do it at hard Rock. They're doing
- 1:46:18Speaker 1: it somewhere at an NFL stadium for the two years
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: it's under construction. All right. Back to some of the
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: draft stuff. I'm going to the Iron Bowl, if we're going,
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: if we're going anywhere, we're going. Every year when the
- 1:46:27Speaker 1: schedule comes out, the first thing I look at is
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: can I get a BUYE Thanksgiving week so I can
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: do Thanksgiving without working, fly down there Friday, go to
- 1:46:35Speaker 1: the Iron the only other game.
- 1:46:37Speaker 3: And I've been to Michigan Stadium already, but Michigan, Ohio
- 1:46:40Speaker 3: State is on It would be great.
- 1:46:42Speaker 1: Yeah, no, that's that's up there, but the Iron Bowl is.
- 1:46:46Speaker 1: And I wish I could see saving Koja because this
- 1:46:48Speaker 1: is all a saving thing for me. But like, jeez,
- 1:46:51Speaker 1: of course you don't have Cordica on your list that
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: I've been to that I've never been as a fan.
- 1:46:57Speaker 1: Me and my friend said we were gonna go back
- 1:46:59Speaker 1: after we gradually like to get the fan experience. We
- 1:47:01Speaker 1: probably talked about this. I think it was the bye
- 1:47:03Speaker 1: week last week to the Patriots last year. The Patriots
- 1:47:05Speaker 1: bye week last year. I never went to Courtland. I
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: never went to Cortica at Courtland. Cortland Stadium was actually cool.
- 1:47:11Speaker 1: I went to the two in Ithaca, and then I
- 1:47:13Speaker 1: went to the one at MetLife Stadium. I didn't like
- 1:47:16Speaker 1: they did in MetLife. I went there cool. It's camp
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: because well they met. They played on Saturday at MetLife Stadium, Ithaca.
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: Courtland for people that are wondering, and Eagles Patriots was
- 1:47:28Speaker 1: in Philly the next day. On your way down there,
- 1:47:30Speaker 1: so I was already on my way down there, and
- 1:47:32Speaker 1: uh my like college roommates and I. We went to
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: Cordica and then they're all from Philly, so we drove
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: after the game to to Philly afterwards. So one player
- 1:47:43Speaker 1: that I just watched recently, so this reason top of mine,
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: Jack Kelly from BYU, the linebacker from BYU. Any thoughts
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: on him?
- 1:47:51Speaker 3: I thought what was interesting about him is when I
- 1:47:53Speaker 3: was watching him, I was like, if we were still
- 1:47:56Speaker 3: doing the Belichick hybrids thing where it's like we're playing
- 1:47:59Speaker 3: guys on and kind of like the Jolanni Ta viral
- 1:48:02Speaker 3: in the defense, and Jack Kelly would be on all
- 1:48:04Speaker 3: of our big boards and mock drafts.
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: Didn't really feel like a Rabel type of player. He's
- 1:48:08Speaker 1: like big, burly like kind of linebacker, probably like an
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: early down, early teams guy.
- 1:48:16Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I don't think that, you know, he's he's
- 1:48:20Speaker 3: more of like a He just seemed very like heavy
- 1:48:23Speaker 3: and stiff to me. But he would have been an
- 1:48:25Speaker 3: interesting player in the Belichick defense. What was the other
- 1:48:30Speaker 3: thing that I someone emailed in and now I don't
- 1:48:33Speaker 3: remember which email it was. There's a lot of emails,
- 1:48:35Speaker 3: so I appreciate that. Just some more like guys. I'm
- 1:48:41Speaker 3: not as familiar with some of these guys. Aaron Graves
- 1:48:43Speaker 3: from Iowa defensive linemen.
- 1:48:46Speaker 1: Uh there, No, I don't know.
- 1:48:48Speaker 3: Some of these people are getting deep barth. You know
- 1:48:50Speaker 3: we're a getting Oh here's the email I wanted to read.
- 1:48:53Speaker 3: This is a joke one, so don't get too serious.
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: H Yesterday you participated in the Felger and maz Big Boy.
- 1:49:01Speaker 1: Oh okay, I even anticipated in the felgird Mass Big Board.
- 1:49:05Speaker 3: And for those that don't know, they take a football
- 1:49:09Speaker 3: at the marker on the end of it and they
- 1:49:11Speaker 3: throw it at it.
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: Was it Lindy's or like Lndy's Lindy's magazine up on
- 1:49:15Speaker 1: a board on a.
- 1:49:17Speaker 3: Board, and then the idea is that they can literally
- 1:49:20Speaker 3: throw darts at a magazine and do just as good
- 1:49:22Speaker 3: as you and I do at predicting what the Patriots.
- 1:49:24Speaker 1: Are gonna do. I did tie them last year.
- 1:49:26Speaker 3: So yeah, okay, So they throw the Lindy the marker
- 1:49:30Speaker 3: and whatever, and you gotta throw yeah, and you hit
- 1:49:36Speaker 3: the camera on the top of the board.
- 1:49:39Speaker 1: Which I'm glad I brought that. I was, I was.
- 1:49:41Speaker 1: We were having meetings before. I was like, we just
- 1:49:43Speaker 1: put a camera on the top of the board. So
- 1:49:45Speaker 1: I'm glad I came up with that because otherwise it
- 1:49:46Speaker 1: would just sail the board. No, it was fine. I said,
- 1:49:50Speaker 1: they're tricky to is gonna selling excuse? They're tricky to
- 1:49:52Speaker 1: throw because there's a marker in it, so the weight's weird.
- 1:49:55Speaker 1: I would say. Last time I did it a couple
- 1:49:58Speaker 1: of years ago, I overthrew it, okay, and I was
- 1:50:00Speaker 1: saying to Kevin Majory, the producer, like I'm gonna hit
- 1:50:04Speaker 1: the camera. I said that to him before. It's like,
- 1:50:05Speaker 1: I'm gonna puck this too high. I'm gonna hit the camera.
- 1:50:09Speaker 1: During the break, I got some warm up throws and
- 1:50:12Speaker 1: I was putting it right in the middle of the board.
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: But what I forgot was they don't magnet that. It's
- 1:50:17Speaker 1: a huge whiteboard. I mean it's massive. Yeah, they don't
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: magnet the magazine in the middle of the board. Felger
- 1:50:22Speaker 1: puts it at the top, so that threw me off.
- 1:50:25Speaker 1: So now I was like, oh, I got to aim
- 1:50:26Speaker 1: higher than I have been. I'd like, if if I
- 1:50:30Speaker 1: was aiming for the camera and hit it, that is
- 1:50:32Speaker 1: an unbelievably impressive throw. You have to admit that that
- 1:50:36Speaker 1: is not a big camera, and I hit it right
- 1:50:38Speaker 1: in a freaking lens too, the best little Logitech camera. Okay,
- 1:50:42Speaker 1: first of all, I'm not giving you at the end.
- 1:50:45Speaker 1: I'm not giving you credit when the goal was to
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: hit the magazine and not the camera. Yeah, I wish
- 1:50:49Speaker 1: I picked a better player.
- 1:50:50Speaker 3: Okay, so the magazine, you're you're you're aiming for the
- 1:50:53Speaker 3: magazine and you didn't hit the magazine.
- 1:50:54Speaker 1: Well, the magazine is not far from the camera. It's
- 1:50:57Speaker 1: not like I totally missed it. Okay, but you didn't
- 1:50:59Speaker 1: you miss your thoughts on Brandon Cleveland, I have no
- 1:51:03Speaker 1: I did not think so, Yeah, I missed the magazine.
- 1:51:05Speaker 1: It wasn't great throw. The other uh day, it's all
- 1:51:08Speaker 1: about content, and that was great content.
- 1:51:10Speaker 3: The other thing that I thought was terrific about it
- 1:51:13Speaker 3: was the still frame right before he takes out the
- 1:51:17Speaker 3: camera and you're just.
- 1:51:18Speaker 7: In the post.
- 1:51:21Speaker 1: Clean, You're in the follow through.
- 1:51:23Speaker 3: Jim Murray's in the corner just laughing hysterically at you,
- 1:51:26Speaker 3: and you just are locked in like you look like
- 1:51:29Speaker 3: your Chris Sale. Game seven of the World Series, striking
- 1:51:33Speaker 3: out Manny Machild, whatever game that was.
- 1:51:35Speaker 1: I needed to keep my elbow in a little bit
- 1:51:37Speaker 1: more my elbow and Jim Louth reminded me before my
- 1:51:39Speaker 1: elbow popped out a little bit, I could have done
- 1:51:41Speaker 1: a little better with my feet. I opened up, probably
- 1:51:44Speaker 1: a little too much.
- 1:51:44Speaker 3: But you looked like you were like that was two outs,
- 1:51:49Speaker 3: ninth inning, one run, game Game seven of the World Series.
- 1:51:52Speaker 1: I wanted to know what well, because I was. I
- 1:51:54Speaker 1: was excited, you know what it was? You know how
- 1:51:56Speaker 1: Drake May talked about how sometimes like at the beginning
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: of games, you'd be a little too amped up, and
- 1:52:00Speaker 1: that's why some of those years ago.
- 1:52:01Speaker 3: And that I was a little lamped up, and you're
- 1:52:05Speaker 3: nervous because they can.
- 1:52:06Speaker 1: I understand where Drake May is coming from. It's just
- 1:52:09Speaker 1: like that a relatable experience. Oh my gosh, it's just
- 1:52:12Speaker 1: like I got to get you in there for a throw.
- 1:52:14Speaker 1: Uh No, we don't. We don't want to, we do.
- 1:52:16Speaker 1: We don't want to embarrass me like that. No, I
- 1:52:19Speaker 1: think we're gonna have to have I might arrange this,
- 1:52:21Speaker 1: I might make this happen, get you in for a throw.
- 1:52:23Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:52:23Speaker 3: The funny thing is, you know whenever things like this
- 1:52:26Speaker 3: kind of come up, Like listen, I was, I was
- 1:52:29Speaker 3: a terrible athlete. I'm not going to sit here and
- 1:52:31Speaker 3: claim that I was a good athlete, but I did
- 1:52:34Speaker 3: play sports growing up. I'm thirty three now, I'm going
- 1:52:37Speaker 3: on thirty. It's been a while since I have like
- 1:52:41Speaker 3: competitively played a sport, you know.
- 1:52:43Speaker 1: Like I used to.
- 1:52:45Speaker 3: But like that, the last time that I had played
- 1:52:47Speaker 3: like a competitive sporting event was probably like ten years ago.
- 1:52:51Speaker 1: Now is you know, like it's been a minute? Will
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: you you rag on me for like, oh, I'm gonna
- 1:52:55Speaker 1: go throw football around on the beach, Yeah, you know,
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: come on, you never know what you're gonna need. Arm
- 1:53:00Speaker 1: Just keep all right. I mean, it's unbelievable. I'm out
- 1:53:06Speaker 1: of that throw because I thought I could go a
- 1:53:09Speaker 1: whole lot worse. Why how you missed the magazine the
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: whole point of the good content out of them? We
- 1:53:14Speaker 1: got good content out of it. My form wasn't bad,
- 1:53:17Speaker 1: and I thought it was gonna The last one I
- 1:53:19Speaker 1: did was legit bad. I think I was throwing for
- 1:53:21Speaker 1: like punters too, and I really missed the next year.
- 1:53:25Speaker 1: I'll hit the magazine if they let me throw so
- 1:53:28Speaker 1: I sall coachable. Well, there are issues there, but they're coaching.
- 1:53:31Speaker 1: I did just the year.
- 1:53:32Speaker 3: The look on the face and the follow through you
- 1:53:34Speaker 3: want it reminded me of you know, in a Fresh
- 1:53:36Speaker 3: Prince of bel Air where Carlton takes the shot at
- 1:53:39Speaker 3: the end of the year exactly and he's just standing
- 1:53:43Speaker 3: there and he's like, you think that he he made
- 1:53:47Speaker 3: the shot, and then the camera payns and he just
- 1:53:49Speaker 3: misses the hoop all together.
- 1:53:51Speaker 1: That was what it was.
- 1:53:52Speaker 3: So we picked on you a little bit. This is
- 1:53:54Speaker 3: from Chris uh in Foxborough. He said last year he
- 1:53:59Speaker 3: emailed it to the show. I think it was a
- 1:54:01Speaker 3: patriot's unfiltered email and he called me Evan a wanna
- 1:54:06Speaker 3: be Alex Barth and apparently that got a That got
- 1:54:09Speaker 3: a lot of people, Paul and female Alex to call
- 1:54:12Speaker 3: her female out I hear about this. God got them
- 1:54:15Speaker 3: all riled up and they thought it was funny. But
- 1:54:18Speaker 3: he did say that this year he is more in
- 1:54:21Speaker 3: line with it, with my takes.
- 1:54:23Speaker 1: He agrees with me.
- 1:54:24Speaker 3: So he said his ideal draft scenario is to trade
- 1:54:27Speaker 3: thirty one to the mid to late forties while also
- 1:54:31Speaker 3: acquiring a second rounder in twenty twenty seven draft Gabe
- 1:54:36Speaker 3: Acis Jackets, I don't know what to call him, Acis,
- 1:54:39Speaker 3: and then using their second round pick in a fourth
- 1:54:41Speaker 3: rounder to take Chris Brazzle. So basically you end up
- 1:54:45Speaker 3: in the draft with Acis and.
- 1:54:47Speaker 1: So your guy and my guy.
- 1:54:48Speaker 3: Yeah that, he said, not sure what made Evan become
- 1:54:53Speaker 3: a genius this year, but keep it up. I did
- 1:54:56Speaker 3: hear about the catch twenty two drinking game, which I
- 1:54:58Speaker 3: brought up a couple of weeks ago. He said, Uh,
- 1:55:01Speaker 3: every time I say give them their flowers, they should.
- 1:55:04Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a good one. I was gonna. I totally
- 1:55:08Speaker 1: just lost my Oh. It's funny having done this now
- 1:55:11Speaker 1: for a few years, Like there are people who will
- 1:55:14Speaker 1: be like I've always agreed with him, but this year,
- 1:55:17Speaker 1: like he oh, it's so horrible, it takes me. He
- 1:55:19Speaker 1: did he forget what he's talking about. His head got
- 1:55:21Speaker 1: too big for him. Or there's some people who you
- 1:55:22Speaker 1: notice always disagree to and like it's weird, I'm disagreeing
- 1:55:25Speaker 1: with him this year. It's almost like every draft is
- 1:55:27Speaker 1: different and every off season is different, and things are
- 1:55:31Speaker 1: gonna change year to year. You have your core beliefs,
- 1:55:33Speaker 1: but things are gonna change year to year based on
- 1:55:34Speaker 1: the situation on the roster and what the board looks like.
- 1:55:37Speaker 1: So I would say never hold one draft entirely against us,
- 1:55:42Speaker 1: but also don't take one draft. Is the reason that
- 1:55:44Speaker 1: our word is gospel. Like some years we're gonna disagree,
- 1:55:47Speaker 1: some years we're not. We might go a few years
- 1:55:49Speaker 1: in where we disagree. We might go a few years
- 1:55:50Speaker 1: and where we don't. We really haven't had a draft
- 1:55:52Speaker 1: where the two of us truly disagree on something. Now,
- 1:55:55Speaker 1: as long as we've been doing this, it's gonna happen. Yeah,
- 1:55:57Speaker 1: and it's gonna be a lot to be older and
- 1:55:59Speaker 1: we're ta We had the coaching search, that's probably the
- 1:56:02Speaker 1: closest we were both kind of right about. Well, one
- 1:56:05Speaker 1: guy won coach the year and went to the super Bowl.
- 1:56:07Speaker 1: But Ben Johnson is not just bad year. One guy
- 1:56:11Speaker 1: went to the literal super Bowl in his first year,
- 1:56:13Speaker 1: had an easier path, went to the super Bowl in
- 1:56:16Speaker 1: his first year. But it's it's yeah, don't yeah, it's
- 1:56:21Speaker 1: year to year, like, of course it's going to change
- 1:56:23Speaker 1: every year. Of course, it is.
- 1:56:24Speaker 3: All right, here's an actual football question. If the Patriots
- 1:56:28Speaker 3: were going to draft the guard that could start day one,
- 1:56:31Speaker 3: which is picking up steam for whatever reason, just to
- 1:56:34Speaker 3: drive me nuts. What kind of conversation would they get
- 1:56:38Speaker 3: from Mike on Wenny if they drafted the guard. Let's
- 1:56:41Speaker 3: say first two rounds, I could play right away, and
- 1:56:43Speaker 3: they wanted to trade Mike on whnny. So, Uh, he's
- 1:56:46Speaker 3: got like twelve million in base salary, So that's what
- 1:56:48Speaker 3: gets traded, right, all the bonuses and stuff fall off
- 1:56:51Speaker 3: that counts as dead money towards the cap. So a
- 1:56:55Speaker 3: twelve ish million dollar guard, Uh, day three pick maybe,
- 1:57:01Speaker 3: so you're not getting a top one hundred pick, especially
- 1:57:03Speaker 3: not in twenty twenty seven.
- 1:57:04Speaker 1: I don't know. Like I've seen people say they're going
- 1:57:05Speaker 1: to trade him during the draft. I don't think he
- 1:57:07Speaker 1: would do it that quickly. I'll give you some the
- 1:57:10Speaker 1: last couple of years here, I'm trying to find like
- 1:57:12Speaker 1: a legit comp throne. When Trevor Penning was traded for six,
- 1:57:16Speaker 1: that was during the trade deadline. Yeah, he's a better
- 1:57:18Speaker 1: player than Treyor Penning. Evan Ingram went for a six.
- 1:57:21Speaker 1: That was during the draft. Ed Ingram, you mean Evan
- 1:57:24Speaker 1: Ingram is the tight Ingram?
- 1:57:25Speaker 8: Yes?
- 1:57:25Speaker 1: Yeah, Ed Ingram might be a little bit more comparable
- 1:57:29Speaker 1: last this is going to March twenty twenty five. Kenyon
- 1:57:32Speaker 1: Green in a fifth went for Chauncey Gardner Johnson in
- 1:57:35Speaker 1: a sixth. Okay, Kenyon Green stinks. Okay. Joe Tooney went
- 1:57:39Speaker 1: for fourth.
- 1:57:40Speaker 3: So that's probably the ceiling of the trade right now
- 1:57:42Speaker 3: on when he was younger, but he's worse.
- 1:57:44Speaker 1: It's already younger, different time on the calendar. Yeah, so
- 1:57:47Speaker 1: maybe if you I think a day three pick is
- 1:57:50Speaker 1: where you're at. Yeah, maybe higher on day three if
- 1:57:53Speaker 1: it's more towards the Joe Tuney side, and lower on
- 1:57:55Speaker 1: day three if it's more for ed Ingram. J Jackson
- 1:57:58Speaker 1: went for six, Kendrick Green went six. How do you
- 1:58:00Speaker 1: feel about Kevin Dotson? Better? Good player back in the
- 1:58:03Speaker 1: like in his problem. So this is twenty twenty three,
- 1:58:05Speaker 1: we're going back years. Maybe Kevin Dotson in a fifth
- 1:58:08Speaker 1: and a six went for a fourth and a fifth,
- 1:58:11Speaker 1: So move two rounds on day three, so I think
- 1:58:14Speaker 1: we're all in the same ball. Jack Mason in a
- 1:58:16Speaker 1: seventh for six? Not great? What did they traded Shack
- 1:58:20Speaker 1: Mason twenty three? So that was that trade? Yeah, Actually
- 1:58:23Speaker 1: he was aged twenty nine. That's the same age as
- 1:58:25Speaker 1: did get. It was Shack Mason in a seventh ver six.
- 1:58:28Speaker 1: Oh what a horrible trade that was?
- 1:58:31Speaker 3: Gee, Like god, it's just I can say these things
- 1:58:36Speaker 3: now because he doesn't he doesn't run the team anymore,
- 1:58:38Speaker 3: so it gets fine.
- 1:58:40Speaker 1: But trying to remember who they took with that pick,
- 1:58:42Speaker 1: I mean, my goodness, gracious.
- 1:58:44Speaker 3: And then they low balled Ted Carris too, so they
- 1:58:47Speaker 3: just love the Yeah, and so they just lost Tony
- 1:58:49Speaker 3: Karris Mason and like the span of like a calendar year,
- 1:58:53Speaker 3: and then drafted Cole Strange and then everybody wondered why
- 1:58:56Speaker 3: they they turned out to be a bad football team.
- 1:58:59Speaker 3: Those were dark times. So I'm glad that we're through
- 1:59:01Speaker 3: that time. I'm really am Like Jack Mason's still playing
- 1:59:05Speaker 3: at a high level. Like Jack Mason is still a
- 1:59:06Speaker 3: good player. It's what three years removed from a pick
- 1:59:10Speaker 3: swap for Jack Mason being the trade, and he's still
- 1:59:12Speaker 3: a good player if that's the trade that they could
- 1:59:15Speaker 3: get though, because it's similar you mentioned age and like
- 1:59:17Speaker 3: kind of similar players to I think Shack Mason's a
- 1:59:19Speaker 3: little bit more athletic, you know, on when it's probably
- 1:59:22Speaker 3: a little bit more sturdy maybe I know, Shack Mason
- 1:59:25Speaker 3: was a hell of a player. But either way, uh, like,
- 1:59:29Speaker 3: if that's all you're getting for Mike on winnow, even
- 1:59:30Speaker 3: more reason to like, why are we drafting a guard early? Like,
- 1:59:34Speaker 3: you're not even gonna get anything out of a good
- 1:59:36Speaker 3: player and Mike on Winnow because of the position value.
- 1:59:38Speaker 1: So sorry, I apologize. They trade Shack Mason for a
- 1:59:41Speaker 1: fifth round pick. That was different. That was the second
- 1:59:44Speaker 1: time he got traded. Okay, that a little bit better,
- 1:59:47Speaker 1: but I still feel the same about that. I just
- 1:59:49Speaker 1: feel like I kind of left you out to dry
- 1:59:50Speaker 1: my apology. No, that's okay, it's still it's still bad.
- 1:59:54Speaker 1: It was still bad either. Well, wait, who did they
- 1:59:56Speaker 1: get with that pick they got? They traded it to
- 2:00:01Speaker 1: Houston for one three and two forty five and then
- 2:00:05Speaker 1: took classic Bill Kevin Harris. Nice and I like Kevin
- 2:00:10Speaker 1: Harris as a person, a nice guy. Andrew Stuber sick.
- 2:00:13Speaker 1: Good job, well done. They get a fifth for Mike
- 2:00:16Speaker 1: and Winnu in a contract here, it's probably about right. Yeah,
- 2:00:19Speaker 1: I'm not doing that.
- 2:00:21Speaker 3: I'd rather just keep Mike on Winnu and draft somebody
- 2:00:23Speaker 3: else with that premium. Yeah, all right, we gotta wrap
- 2:00:26Speaker 3: it up. That was a good, good ending of the show.
- 2:00:28Speaker 1: That that was my bad. I apologize. It's okay, it
- 2:00:30Speaker 1: still stands. All right.
- 2:00:32Speaker 3: We'll be back next week the day before the twenty
- 2:00:35Speaker 3: twenty six NFL Draft. We are here, we've arrived. So
- 2:00:38Speaker 3: next Wednesday we'll do a show like normal, twelve to
- 2:00:40Speaker 3: two day before the draft. We're gonna do a top
- 2:00:43Speaker 3: ten I think top ten mock draft, even though it's
- 2:00:45Speaker 3: not Patriots necessarily. That'll be fun, and then we'll get
- 2:00:49Speaker 3: into just your thoughts and we'll just kind of leave
- 2:00:52Speaker 3: it generally open after that to just talk about some
- 2:00:54Speaker 3: last minute draft stuff.
- 2:00:55Speaker 1: So really looking forward to it. I'm excited. We're almost there.
- 2:00:58Speaker 6: There.
- 2:00:59Speaker 1: We made it, baby, we made it. All right. We'll
- 2:01:00Speaker 1: see you guys next week. Pee you tomorrow. See you guys.
