- 0:55Yours Truly Johnny Dowler, the Patterson Transport Man. Well, y'all listening on
- 1:00enjoyment John one as Johnny, Johnny, how fast can you get the Kansas
- 1:07City, Missouri? Why? Maybe you can stop a homicide? Oh,
- 1:11that sounds worthwhile. What do we UNDERRTE complete insurance coverage for the Patterson's Transport
- 1:17Corporation. They handle a possible delivery service to most of the department stores in
- 1:21town. Well, that should be profitable, but hardly deadly. There have
- 1:23been six bobberies and meetings involving your drivers in the past week, Johnny.
- 1:27Apparently one guy is responsible and he's gotten increasingly brutal when each hold him.
- 1:32How far has he gone? Last hold up for yesterday afternoon, he went
- 1:34to reserve the drivers from the hospital with five broken ribs in a fact in
- 1:38skull. If this guy hasn't caught a tony a question of time before he
- 1:42killed somebody, I'll take the first plane out. You know, many great
- 1:57men have attained the highest office in our land, the president of the United
- 2:00States? Can you guess the name of this man? In eighteen eighty four,
- 2:06with a limited education and practically no experience in national affairs, he was
- 2:12elected president at the age of forty eight. During his administration, an income
- 2:19tax was passed but declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court, and Coxey's army made
- 2:25its first march on the Capitol as a protest against unemployment. It was also
- 2:30during his administration that the Presidential Succession Bill was passed. It indicated the line
- 2:37of succession to the presidency from the president down through the cabinet. If you
- 2:43don't have his name by now here are two more clue. He was the
- 2:46first president to be married in the White House and the only president who served
- 2:52two non successive terms. Who was he? Rover Cleveland twenty second, twenty
- 3:00fourth President of the United States. His life is part of your American Heritors
- 3:22expense accounts submitted by a special investigator, Johnny Dollar to the home office Eastern
- 3:27Indemnity and Insurance Company, Hartford, Connecticut. The following is an accounting of
- 3:30expenditures during my investigation of the Patterson Transport Matter expense account ATOM one seventy three
- 3:43dollars and twenty cents air fair and infidels between Hartford, Connecticut and Kansas City,
- 3:47Missouri. I was met at the airport by Walt Hendricks, vice president
- 3:53and general manager of Patterson Franchport. It's a rough one dollar six hold ups
- 3:58of the week, but we're thirty seven hundred dollars with cod money stolen.
- 4:01Read drivers and people so badly they can't work, one of them in hospital
- 4:04in critical conditions. Real rough one, I understand. One man has been
- 4:10putting the job to hender. Seems to stack up that way. So far
- 4:14we haven't been able to do a black thing to stop. How's the operating
- 4:17Well, it's like this. He buys something in a department store, as
- 4:20the package sent out cot to a macant apartment at a house. When the
- 4:25driver gets out there, he lowers the bull. What about the police?
- 4:29Uh? Since yesterday morning, they've had a plain clothesman riding the delivery trust
- 4:31with the drivers. Well, that should have bought results, and we thought
- 4:34it would too till last night. The driver that's laid up in the hospital.
- 4:39Yeah, he got it in his own garage, coming home from a
- 4:43movie with his wife. Hendricks dropped me off at the mule Back Hotel.
- 4:54He said the Patterson Transport Company would supply a car for my personal news,
- 4:59and it was there, ready and waiting. After I finished checking in,
- 5:02I drove over the police headquarters at eleven twenty five Roots, the street where
- 5:06Lieutenant Herman of the Robbery Division served me in. Well, there's a few
- 5:11things about this it makes sense. Tell not many, but a few,
- 5:14Like what Lieutella we operates for One as a definite pattern, every hold up,
- 5:18seather at the fire and the driver's root or the last stop or two
- 5:21before he checks him for the day. Sounds like he's pretty familiar with the
- 5:26delivery operation, and that's what we figure. Maybe from a Patterson transport him,
- 5:30maybe from a department store. Then another thing, he's almost sure to
- 5:33be a cycle. The ways man handled those drivers, there wasn't any reasons
- 5:38for beating him drivers all have orders not to resist. Gets increasingly brutal with
- 5:42every holdup. No sense to it unless he's a cycling any description on him,
- 5:47Yeah, partial always wears a blue bandanna hankertif over his face. But
- 5:56here's what we've got on I'm what it's worth sebout speak one hundred and ninety
- 6:01to two hundred pounds, very spout. Pat Baggy Gray's suit has a noticeable
- 6:08limp in the right leg. Well that's pretty general, but that limp might
- 6:13help time down. I've got the personnel managers of Patterson on the department stores
- 6:16going over there records on the basis of that description. So far they haven't
- 6:20up with anything. Well, here's another angle. Take a look at this
- 6:25matter. Yeah sure, Now at the first Robert took place out here for
- 6:30if they under Barkham senetor next here obsivation part one here on Cypers the next
- 6:36to thirty second Terror, then fifty fourth in Jackson. Well that makes a
- 6:41rough circle around the city. What's even doing moving from route to route in
- 6:46a definite pattern, I'd say, hitting one driver after another in turn.
- 6:48Well, then you should know who's wiable to be next on the list.
- 6:51We do driver by the name of Milton Spears got the Southwest Territory down here.
- 6:59If the man we were after follows this pattern, you'll get him.
- 7:01But if he breaked it like he did last night, Yeah, that's about
- 7:05all I can tell you now, Donna. Hoping this guy will try again
- 7:09with our men riding the truck our best bet for getting him. And even
- 7:14if he doesn't, maybe we can. Oh, hi, Grayson tells,
- 7:18So you just gotta report over and practice. Patterson Company Trucks is in the
- 7:23maxim Rounderson Avenue. What kind of accent? Apparently the truck got out of
- 7:26control, smashing of a parked car along the curved driver was killed. One
- 7:30about our man didn't have anybody as sided with truck. Ben him for a
- 7:32pair, I mean driver with just road testing. It doesn't sound like a
- 7:36Sizon with a hold up. Questions better Banks, Grayson, let me see
- 7:40the complete report, than me get it him say sergeants, Yeah, did
- 7:46you get the name of the driver who was killed? Yeah, we got
- 7:48it, just the name of Spears. No Spears. And we got to
- 7:59the scene of the accent. An ambulance and squad car were already there.
- 8:03One of the squad car men filled us in on what they'd learned. You
- 8:07hadn't eat the names here, lieutenant, And for some reason he sadden me,
- 8:11cramped the wheel of the right and plowed into that duke there at the
- 8:15curve. Must have been going in a pretty good clip, burned a lot
- 8:18of rubber up on the street when he swung in here. Yeah, what
- 8:22did the ambulance men have to say? He was dead when they got here.
- 8:24Didn't look as though the crash of the known impact wasn't heavy enough for
- 8:28that. I think you might have had a heart attack. Huh. And
- 8:31he witnesses no eye witnesses, Lieutenant. There's a lady over there wants to
- 8:35talk to you. Okay, as good to come over. And I haven't
- 8:39take the body down the more for an immediate autopic. I want the results
- 8:41on it as soon as possible. Okay, Then how does it hit too,
- 8:46Dona? And a couple of things don't quite add up well. Why
- 8:52he was road testing a truck on a quiet residential street. Why he was
- 8:56going fast enough to make heavy ship and had to happen to Yeah, maybe
- 9:05the autop they will give us something to go on. No, maybe it's
- 9:07the lady I was tony about Lieutenant. Missus Robertson, how do you do
- 9:11Missus Robertson, I understand you have something to tell us. I should say,
- 9:15how do you have something to tell you about chime? You police officers.
- 9:18They tell me you'll take the interests of US citizens. We've got right,
- 9:22you know, and it's you're do need to see that, but they're
- 9:24protected. I'm not sure I understand. No, I didn't think you would.
- 9:28Things have come to pretas when a caxpayer can't give the car parked out
- 9:31on the street but at some drunken fop typers splashing at the pieces. It's
- 9:35your doing to see that such ripless and competent time as it kept off our
- 9:37seats and highways. You're the owner of the buark that was hip, Missus
- 9:41Roburtson, Well, isn't that just what I've been telling me, young man?
- 9:43And believe me, somebody is going to pay for the damage done to
- 9:48my car and put the shock and damage cause to my words. Did you
- 9:52see the accident take place, Missus Robinson? No, I couldn't see it,
- 9:56but not that I had to. I was upstairs in my apartment over
- 10:01there, playing with some friends. Then, what makes you think the driver
- 10:05was drunk or irresponsible? Oh? Of course he was. What other explanation
- 10:11could there be smashing into a person's car like that in broad daylight on a
- 10:15quiet street, just off the straightest dolt. In my mind, both of
- 10:20them were drunk, and there was somebody else in the truck besides the driver.
- 10:22Of course there was. How do you know, Missus Robinson? Oh,
- 10:26because I saw him. That's why I looked out of my window and
- 10:30saw him. A big husky man he was. He got out of the
- 10:35truck right after the crash and went limping off down the street. Traditional questioning
- 10:45of the excitable Missus Robinson brought no further information. We got the same results
- 10:50from the other residents of Anderson Avenue. The men from the lab arrived and
- 10:54started working on the truck and buick for possible physical evidence, and we went
- 10:58back to the police headquarters. No neat view to stick around, Dollar if
- 11:03you want to, you won't. Beginning the arctopsy report on spears another hour
- 11:07or two. Well, I thought I might look over the driver's statements on
- 11:09the robbery for tennant. Maybe something will hit me. I'm sure I'll have
- 11:13Grayson big enough for you, Grayson, Will you get out the driver's statements
- 11:18in the Patterson Pansport files. If the dollar, I'd like to look him
- 11:22over, adding another reportable list. What's that called? The General Hospital driver
- 11:28who was beating up last night just died? I went over the driver's statements
- 11:39and the official investigation reports. Lieutenant Herman and his men had covered every angle
- 11:43I could think of, and a couple of I hadn't. When I got
- 11:46through. The autopsy on Milton's Spears hadn't been completed yet. So I drove
- 11:50out to the Patterson Transport Company in the Northeastern Duck Bill. I found Wald
- 11:58Hendrix and the off the company, which were located to one side of their
- 12:01busy garage. Oh, it's a terrible thing about Milk Spears dollar, a
- 12:07terrible thing. Man had been with us a fifteen years, perfect state new
- 12:11record, and it gets yourself killed in an actually that way? If it
- 12:13was an Actuly, well you think it's connected with the hold ups. We'll
- 12:18know more about it when we get the autopsy in the book. Well,
- 12:20I suppose it could guide according to the pattern, Spears was the next driver
- 12:26due to get hit? Sure? And if it had happened while Spears was
- 12:28out on the route, I'd say, okay, but he wasn't. Just
- 12:31what was he doing, mister hammocks While his truck broke down the clutch linkage.
- 12:35We sent a substitute out and the garage got through. Milt took the
- 12:37truck out to road tested. Anybody go with him? No, No,
- 12:41Milk was a good mechanic. Don't reapon send anybody along, and we don't
- 12:45allow our men to pick up any riders or hitch hikers. No, there
- 12:48couldn't have been anybody in the truck to him, or maybe he picked up
- 12:50somebody knew well, possibility, I suppose. I don't know. This thing's
- 12:56got me so busy, I can't think straight at all. I guess there's
- 13:01one consolation, though, Yeah, what's that If you count Spears, every
- 13:05driver in the organization has been hit by now, unless he starts over again,
- 13:09this guy has any place to go. I'll give you eight to five.
- 13:13He'll think of something. It was getting late in the afternoon, so
- 13:24I figured i'd pay one more visit the headquarters before going back to the hotel
- 13:28and knocking off for the day. As I walked into Lieutenant Hermann's office.
- 13:33He was just finishing a phone call report. I'll buy you a dinner someday
- 13:37if you're looking enough to catch up with me. All right, Dolla,
- 13:41I was dark Winter's autopsy surgeon. There was a twenty two caliber bullet Milton
- 13:46spears brain. Wow, nothing very accidental about that? Is it not likely?
- 13:52Fired? Close? Brains behind the right ear point of penetration was covered
- 13:56by hair. Bullet lies in the bone. That's why the ambulent attendant didn't
- 14:01catch him. No wonder he crushed the truck. You don't have ballistics examine
- 14:07the bullet. I don't know that they would go up with anything wrong.
- 14:09Well, it's been a long day. What do you say we go out
- 14:13and have a bike beat? Oh? Buy that? But come there's a
- 14:15good steakhouse right down for Dennet Herman. I remember, we'll be right there.
- 14:35That's rude, Dlan. What's up? Remember that missus Robertson, the
- 14:37woman who won him to smashed up? You work? Yeah? I just
- 14:39saw a man were after. He's out in front of her place. Right
- 14:43now? Mind if I cut into say something fellows, it won't take too
- 15:05long. Since a word to the wise is sufficient and in the English language,
- 15:11there is one word which is important to just about everyone in the world.
- 15:16That word is security. Security has several different meanings. However, usually
- 15:24we think of it in connection with the protecting of our military installations and defense
- 15:28industries. But it means more than that. There is a security which applies
- 15:35to every man, woman, and child in America, the security which comes
- 15:39from being in good health, having a good education, and being well taken
- 15:45care of in case things get a little too tough to handle by oneself.
- 15:50This kind of security is the problem of the President's newest cabinet member, the
- 15:56Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare. This department ties together the work
- 16:02of several governmental agencies. First, there is the United States Public Health Service,
- 16:07which strives to make certain that the general health of the people in our
- 16:11country is in the best of conditions. Then there is a Food and Drug
- 16:15Administration, which guarantees that the food we eat is pure and safe to eat.
- 16:22The Social Security Board, which takes care of old people, children,
- 16:26and the blind who need assistance, also comes under the Department of Health,
- 16:30Education, and Welfare, as does the United States Office of Education. This
- 16:36office does research on the educational possibilities changes and opportunities, and passes on its
- 16:44information to the various state boards of education. As you can see, the
- 16:48Department of Health, Education, and Welfare is one of the most important agencies
- 16:53in our government, assuring off as it does, of a normal and healthy
- 17:00way of life. And now, with our star John Lund, we bring
- 17:11you the second act of your truly Johnny Dollar. Well. Lieutenant Herman and
- 17:30I got out to the Addison Avenue address. Missus Robinson was waiting for us
- 17:34in the vestibule of the apartment building. Man, I tell you, the
- 17:37very sting man got out of the truck, is smashed my car, and
- 17:41I want you to arrest him at once. Do you hear he's a man?
- 17:44Well, arrest in, Missus Robbin. He's a man I ought to
- 17:47know. I saw him getting out of the truck and limped down the street,
- 17:51and I saw him again just before I called you. What was he
- 17:52doing, Missus robinon looking over my car? That's what a nerve of him?
- 17:57A criminal return into the chine of his crime. There's no doubt about
- 18:03the identification I told you there was who didn't die. A big, heavy
- 18:07set man dressed in a gray suit, walking with a limb. He's the
- 18:12man all right? Where is he now? Oh? Where would a man
- 18:15like Patty? I told him he was drunk when you smashed into my car.
- 18:19He went into that bar as a corner. There he is at the
- 18:37bar. Yeah. On the guy in the place answers the description. Do
- 18:41you want to take him over? There? He's got the places? I
- 18:42mean. Police officers keep their hands on the bar. What's going on here?
- 18:52Hands on the bar taking down? Yeah? Sure? What do you
- 18:56think they're doing? Mac? I ain't got no rout on me? How
- 19:00about it? He's clean, lieutenant? Sure, I'm clean. I told
- 19:03you I was today. What do you guys want with me? What's your
- 19:07name is? What's it doing? Your name? Westley? Joo? Westley?
- 19:11Where do you live? I ain't decided yet, just got in the
- 19:14town. What are you doing in this neighborhood? Look, you guys ain't
- 19:17got nothing on me. A guy's got a right to come in and have
- 19:19a drink without coppers hopping on over him. Why are the interest in the
- 19:22cart smashed up? Duet down the street? Who was interested in a smash
- 19:27buet? You were? You were looking at it? Why so? I
- 19:30looked at it very law against that man was killed when that car was hit
- 19:33Westley. So what's that got to do with me. We've got a witness
- 19:37who says you were involved in the accident, Yo, witnesses, nuts,
- 19:41All I was doing was walking down the street. I've seen the card took
- 19:44again. Er at it. You'll talk it over downtown Westley. They ain't
- 19:47nothing to talk I didn't have nothing to do with that car. Somebody getting
- 19:51bumped off. You heard the lieutenant. We'll talk about it downtown. Come
- 20:02clean, Wesley, make it easier on yourself. There's nothing to come clean
- 20:06about. I told you coppers that you ain't got nothing on it. Maybe
- 20:10we've got a witness and says different. I told you he's lying. I've
- 20:12never been in that neighborhood before. What did you do with the gun?
- 20:15What gun? The one you used to knock off Milton Spears. I never
- 20:19heard a gun and I never heard of the spears. Now, why didn't
- 20:23you guys lay off and let me out of here? Pretty good rockets you
- 20:26have, Wesley? How'd you happen to think of it? What rocket?
- 20:30The parcel? Deliver? A gimmick? You nuts to suthing? I didn't
- 20:33have nothing to do with them Patterson struts. We didn't mention the name of
- 20:37the outfit, Westley, so you didn't mention. And how do you know
- 20:40what we were talking about? I can eat the papers, can I?
- 20:42They've been full of them parcels, delivery stick ups. You know more about
- 20:45it the map. Come on, let's hop it, west I tell you
- 20:48nuts. I just got into town yesterday from where Californa wearing California bolts.
- 20:55And we can check on that, Westling. So check. You'll find out
- 20:59as black eyes, you ain't got a thing I meet. Copper is not
- 21:02a largi thing. Lieutenant Herman is done in a teletype request for verification from
- 21:11Polsom, along with telephoto copies of Wesley's prints for comparison. We got the
- 21:17answer back in an hour. Man, there it is Bella. Wesley wasn't
- 21:22sprung from Polsom until yesterday morning. Served his fool. Time. We made
- 21:32one more check. We had missus Robertson try to pick out the man she'd
- 21:36seen from a lineup including Wesley and six police officers. She made a positive
- 21:41identification of Sergeant Grayson. Expense to count atom two seventeen dollars and eighty five
- 21:51stents, dinner and drinks for Lieutenant Herman and myself. Afterwards, the Lieutenant
- 21:55called it quits for the night and I headed for the Patterson Garage. I
- 21:57wanted to talk with Walt Hendlicks again. Lucky to catch me in Dollar.
- 22:03I don't usually work this late, but it's different. What's different about it,
- 22:07Miss Sanders. I've got some drivers to get a couple of substitutes for
- 22:11those who are laid up. Two permanent, one yeah, yeah, Well
- 22:15I won't take up too much of your time. I just want to get
- 22:18a two things straight. Sure, it's pretty obvious that whoever we're after,
- 22:22who knows the operation of his business. That means he knew he wasn't going
- 22:26to get much of a take on those mornings dick ups, the drivers having
- 22:30time to collect many of CODs, nobody got over thirty seven hundred in the
- 22:34afternoon doing go along with that. I don't say there is but it's possible
- 22:38that money is only the frosting on the cake. Thinking that somebody might have
- 22:44a grudge against the outter, and now there's enough evidence to support it.
- 22:47The systematic way he's going after the drivers, the beatings, he's dished out
- 22:51for no apparent reason. Yeah, yeah, I've been thinking the same thing.
- 22:55Come up with any ideas? Be not a one company has always had
- 22:59a good labor record, remember any pots Swift competitors. I even checked with
- 23:03Missus Thompson about it. So's Missus Thompson or she worked here for him with
- 23:07twenty years as my assistant secretary, had an auto accident about six months ago
- 23:11after tripple. It's tough, yeah, but she knows the business as well
- 23:17as I do, so I thought maybe she'd come up with something have any
- 23:21luck. Nothing. I even talked to her husband about it. Did he
- 23:23work for the object too? No? No, but he got to know
- 23:26it pretty well through her, and he figured it the same way we do.
- 23:30But he couldn't come up with anything either. He did try to warn
- 23:33milk Spears though, how was that well? He had the guys patting to
- 23:37figured out too. A new Milk might be next, so all we wanted
- 23:41him to be careful. Missus Thompson's husband was here at the garage before milk
- 23:45Spears went Yeah, that's right. He drove up just a few minutes before
- 23:49Milk took off the road test the truck I went back to the hotel and
- 23:59put on a call to Tom Benson and Hartford in the company's interest. He
- 24:03was willing to bust up his bridge game and go down to the office.
- 24:06He called me back in about forty five minutes with the information I wanted.
- 24:10Accident took place last Christmas Eve. Johnny Thompson's were leaving a party at the
- 24:14Patterson Officis. Apparently the husband had a little too much to drink, drove
- 24:18out of the garage too fast, get into the in the street, and
- 24:19wound up on the wrong side. One of the delivery trucks were just coming
- 24:22in and met head on. Uh huh, what's the medical report day?
- 24:26Well, the driver the truck was killed out right. Missus Thompson suffered too
- 24:30broken vertebrae left her permanently crippled. We paid all medical expenses. It's gonna
- 24:34life income of a hundred dollars a month. What about the husband, he
- 24:37was in the hospital to do a couple of weeks ago. How to depressed
- 24:41skull practice back compound bat the right tibot. Outside of that, he should
- 24:45be as good as no help any Johnny. I wouldn't be surprised the thompson
- 24:56home was a modest frame bungalow on Prospect Avenue than a half mile from the
- 25:00Patterson arrived. I was met at the door by a practical nurse who checked
- 25:04with Missus Thompson and then let me into the bedroom to see her res.
- 25:07Awfully kind of you to call on me this way, mister Darling, And
- 25:11I want you to know that Charlie and I are very appreciative of everything or
- 25:17company is done for. You're only getting what you're entitled to, Missus Thompson.
- 25:21Well, perhaps it's when you've been used to making your own way of
- 25:26life, earning your own living, then suddenly find yourself in a position my
- 25:32time in. Well, it's awfully nice to know that there are people like
- 25:37you around. Well, thanks, Missus Thompson. Is your husband at home?
- 25:42I'm dreadfully sorry, but he left it a few minutes ago. And
- 25:47you did want to talk to him about those robberies, didn't you. What
- 25:51makes you think that, oh, mister him to be extold me you were
- 25:55in town. Charlie has been so interested in those hold up He just feels
- 26:02terrible about those poor drivers, you know, No, I didn't. Oh,
- 26:06yes, that's terrible. He's been so worried about them ever since the
- 26:11trouble began. But he even wanted to ride along with some of them on
- 26:15their route they sholt to protect them. Yes, he felt that way,
- 26:22you know, protective about them ever since that accident happened to us. Some
- 26:27man might have felt the driver was to blame that night, might have felt
- 26:33resentful towards them because of what happened to me, But not Charley. He's
- 26:40a wonderfully forgiving man. Mister Darler, where is your husband now? Yes,
- 26:45he even had a presentment about what was going to happen to them after
- 26:51the hold up started. He told me he was afraid that robber would go
- 26:56from one driver to the next be them. Perhaps he's been killing He even
- 27:03made a list of the one thing was afraid would Because where is he now,
- 27:07Missus Thompson. That's why he went out to night. Mister Dalla,
- 27:11he's did Truman. He won't let anything like that happened again. That's why
- 27:15he went out to protect him, to protect Wool the next one on his
- 27:21list. My foreman saw you, mister Hendrick. The poem was in the
- 27:29living room. I put in two fast calls the first the police headquarters.
- 27:37The second was to the Patterson Garage to Warren Hendricks. The garage was only
- 27:49a few short blocks away, and I made it before the squad guard did.
- 27:53There was a light in Hendrick's office, but it was empty. I
- 27:56tried to darken garage. Next, Compton, is that you Thompson? Tomptin?
- 28:30Going on out there? What's the shooting about? It's Dollar Hendrix.
- 28:34Dollar, Yeah, throw some lights on with him. Yeah, sure,
- 28:41going on here? Dollar? What do you do? Oh, Sharlie Thompson?
- 28:47Yeah, where were you in the back? Rule? But Sharley,
- 28:53what happened? Well, somebody had to stop him from protecting you. Expense
- 29:12account ittom three twenty two dollars and ten cents. Hotel bill and miscellaneans expense
- 29:18account ATOM four seventy one dollars and thirty cents. Air Fare back to Hartford
- 29:22expense account total one hundred eighty four dollars and forty five cents. Remarks when
- 29:29ballistics verified that Thompson's twenty two cold had killed Milton Spears, my official job
- 29:34was open. My unofficial one, informing missus Thompson wasn't nearly as easy.
- 29:41I guess I got a little confused. It's the only way I can account
- 29:45for the fact that she believes her husband died a hero getting the bandit single
- 29:49handed. You're truly Johnny Dollar, welcome back. Well, this episode really
- 30:12is one of those that when it was done as a five part matter with
- 30:19those fifteen minutes serials, and it really was flushed out quite a bit more.
- 30:26But overall I thought it was a pretty good mystery. And again I
- 30:30continue to be amazed by how much Johnny Dowler gets involved in police work,
- 30:34including being asked by policemen to search suspects. Now to listener comments and feedback,
- 30:41and we'll be on Twitter today, and Chuck b sent along a recommendation
- 30:48to his friends to listen to episode eight ten, The Berlin Mander. Then
- 30:52this comment from Brian annals it was on there and I've seen it, and
- 30:59I've kept forgetting to respond to it, but I'll respond today since we don't
- 31:02have any other questions. Are there any Doc Savage radio shows on podcast available?
- 31:08The answer is, as far as I know, no, the old
- 31:12time Doc Savage radio programs, and Savage did have programs in the nineteen thirties
- 31:19and forties. These are all lost the only surviving Doc Savage radio programs were
- 31:26those done over PBS in the nineteen eighties. It's a fine collection. I
- 31:32was able to listen to it. I've made the mistake of loaning it to
- 31:34someone in another state, so I don't have it anymore. But it is
- 31:37available on radio archives dot com. Very high quality audio and I think pretty
- 31:45solid production values. So I'd recommend refer you to radio archives dot com,
- 31:49and I think they hand posted a couple online that you could listen to.
- 31:53All Right, Well, that I'll do it for today. We will be
- 31:56back next week. In the meanwhile, send your comments to Box thirteen Right
