- 0:33Speaker 1: this episode will be easy to enjoy because we have
- 0:36Speaker 1: a baller sitting with us in on the bus right now,
- 0:38Speaker 1: Diego Pavia, starting quarterback Vanderbilt, true underdog mentality. I was
- 0:46Speaker 1: telling you before we got on here, like you are
- 0:49Speaker 1: the epitome of a high school wrestling state champ that
- 0:52Speaker 1: also plays quarterback.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Is that a backhanded compliment?
- 0:56Speaker 1: No, I think it's a great compliment. I think it's
- 0:58Speaker 1: a great I think it explains everything about his game,
- 1:01Speaker 1: his antics on the field, off the field, everything you
- 1:03Speaker 1: hear the area around the Eagle Pavia. It makes so
- 1:06Speaker 1: much sense that he was a how like you were
- 1:08Speaker 1: a state champion, but you were kind of telling me
- 1:09Speaker 1: that you were number one in the country for.
- 1:12Speaker 2: For like fourth grade into like seventh grade.
- 1:15Speaker 3: Which is before puberty. So fourth grade is seventh grade.
- 1:22Speaker 3: Then everyone kind of hit puberty, and then after that
- 1:23Speaker 3: it was it was no, it's crazy to be number
- 1:26Speaker 3: one in the country. I'm just messing with you, but
- 1:28Speaker 3: that is that is wild. I feel like you are
- 1:31Speaker 3: the first generation of cats that grew up watching Johnny Manziel.
- 1:34Speaker 3: Like the way you play, and I mean that as
- 1:36Speaker 3: one hundred percent comment, like you talk shit, you get
- 1:39Speaker 3: after it. Dudes hit the shit out of you in
- 1:41Speaker 3: the sideline. You're limping on your leg, but your boys,
- 1:44Speaker 3: your offensive lines watching you limp over, they're getting they're
- 1:46Speaker 3: muscling up against other cats, and you just going there
- 1:49Speaker 3: and you just don't give a fuck. It really feels
- 1:52Speaker 3: like it's like, hey, we got a play call, boys,
- 1:55Speaker 3: but diego at the end of the day, like you're
- 1:56Speaker 3: gonna do whatever the fuck you want to do.
- 1:58Speaker 2: I think sometimes, uh, they think that's what the play
- 2:01Speaker 2: call is. But I'm just changing it, you know what
- 2:03Speaker 2: I mean. So I just change it to what I like.
- 2:06Speaker 1: So you you'll just go you'll go a well and
- 2:09Speaker 1: change it to whatever you want.
- 2:10Speaker 2: At times, yeah, yeah, like uh, if the play say
- 2:14Speaker 2: it's a run, play second and short, like now we're
- 2:17Speaker 2: we're deep, we're going deep. We get in the next play,
- 2:20Speaker 2: no coach.
- 2:22Speaker 3: Where he's aware in the time it's happening, He's like
- 2:27Speaker 3: what the fuck?
- 2:28Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, Sometimes like they get to talk to you now,
- 2:31Speaker 2: and so like on the earpiece, it's like whoa, whoa,
- 2:34Speaker 2: Like what are we doing? Like he's talking to someone
- 2:35Speaker 2: else on the top, you know what I mean. But
- 2:37Speaker 2: like I can't talk back. I don't have a mouth,
- 2:39Speaker 2: he said, he can hear me. So it's just like shit,
- 2:42Speaker 2: just better work.
- 2:44Speaker 1: You're like you're thinking your head. You guys are taking
- 2:46Speaker 1: a little too long for my liking. Like let me,
- 2:48Speaker 1: I'm just gonna draw something up right.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Well not he'll call a play, but it's like I
- 2:53Speaker 2: checked down and we do a number system, and so
- 2:57Speaker 2: if it's like a run, then I'm not changing it,
- 3:00Speaker 2: you know what I mean. And then sometimes you asked
- 3:01Speaker 2: me in the film and like what'd you get here,
- 3:03Speaker 2: and I'm thinking, well, I thought you said a different number.
- 3:06Speaker 2: But in reality, in my head, I'm just changing the play.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Now.
- 3:10Speaker 3: What do you what are you changing the play based off?
- 3:12Speaker 3: Are you looking at safety rotation? You'll at this nickel
- 3:14Speaker 3: press corner over here and you're like, okay, they're bringing
- 3:15Speaker 3: a little pressure over here, or you like, hey, it's
- 3:18Speaker 3: we're here to score. We're here to score touchdowns. I'm
- 3:20Speaker 3: here to ball out.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Coach.
- 3:21Speaker 2: It's like tendancy, you know what I mean, Like, oh,
- 3:24Speaker 2: first first drive against Let's say they were playing Bama,
- 3:27Speaker 2: first drive against BAM when they brought the house, second
- 3:29Speaker 2: and short. All right, man and man, I'm expecting man
- 3:31Speaker 2: and man, let's take the top off.
- 3:35Speaker 3: I mean we listen, we can jump around. We have
- 3:38Speaker 3: to jump around all of your like your career, the
- 3:40Speaker 3: no offers, you have two D two offers, you go
- 3:43Speaker 3: to juco route and you jump around essentially with kill
- 3:46Speaker 3: THEE in your entire career. But like you did bring
- 3:48Speaker 3: up something that was that Vanderbilt hasn't done since win.
- 3:52Speaker 1: E never been.
- 3:56Speaker 3: I've never done that. And I remember sitting at tight
- 3:59Speaker 3: end you at Vanderbilt's practice facility and your boys running
- 4:03Speaker 3: up and obviously I see the offensive lineman. We wp up,
- 4:05Speaker 3: you got a bunch of cash just ripping around talking
- 4:07Speaker 3: about oh shit, we we'd that. I'm like, hey, this
- 4:10Speaker 3: white guy. Is this guy doing right? But then they're
- 4:12Speaker 3: like always starting to hey, this Pavia kid, this Pavia kid,
- 4:15Speaker 3: his CAD's the truth, blah blah blah blah. Like you
- 4:17Speaker 3: get to you get to play Alabama at Vanderbilt, it's
- 4:20Speaker 3: a totally different atmosphere. It's still an away game for
- 4:22Speaker 3: you guys because at this point we don't have the
- 4:25Speaker 3: lore of Diego Pavia and Vanderbilt yet, and so you
- 4:28Speaker 3: have this stadium out of construction, Nick Saban or no,
- 4:32Speaker 3: this is killingdi bor. They come in and you guys
- 4:37Speaker 3: put on a clinic like it's like they score, you guys,
- 4:40Speaker 3: go go down the field, eight nine, ten plays, score again,
- 4:43Speaker 3: back and forth and are able to beat Alabama. Like
- 4:46Speaker 3: obviously I've known you a little bit of time, and
- 4:48Speaker 3: it's always confidence, But like, how at what point where
- 4:52Speaker 3: you're like, holy shit, we're really going to do this,
- 4:54Speaker 3: Like it's actually not talking anymore, We're actually going to
- 4:56Speaker 3: be able to pull this off.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Oh like when we won, I would just think like
- 5:00Speaker 2: when I when we pulled the ball and I got
- 5:02Speaker 2: like a twelve yard game and then like the game
- 5:05Speaker 2: was over. But like I always thought like we could win,
- 5:08Speaker 2: like they know, Like that's just how I approached the game. Though.
- 5:11Speaker 2: It's just like, uh, if you go in there with
- 5:14Speaker 2: the losing mentality, you're screwed already. And so for me,
- 5:18Speaker 2: I don't care if it's Bama, Nebraska, Michigan. We don't
- 5:26Speaker 2: say that any words.
- 5:28Speaker 3: Do you get something Michigan?
- 5:29Speaker 2: I do?
- 5:30Speaker 3: What's up?
- 5:31Speaker 2: Well, Michigan's a great school, but they should be winning
- 5:34Speaker 2: more than they should with the cap that they got,
- 5:38Speaker 2: like de Poortnoy donates to Michigan. I know the nil
- 5:42Speaker 2: the roof. Should you not win?
- 5:46Speaker 3: Yeah, no, I agree, And we won seven games last
- 5:48Speaker 3: year with throwing turned off. Like if you're if you're
- 5:54Speaker 3: talking about, hey, there's multiple phases to an offense. You're
- 5:57Speaker 3: gonna take off probably like a fifty an offense and
- 6:00Speaker 3: still win seven games and just knock down, drag him
- 6:02Speaker 3: out three yards and cloud of dust.
- 6:04Speaker 2: The running back was good, though he should have went
- 6:06Speaker 2: higher than what he did in the draft.
- 6:08Speaker 3: You know, he started his first twenty games at the
- 6:09Speaker 3: University of Michigan. He was a linebacker. I think we
- 6:12Speaker 3: got to make this cat a running back.
- 6:14Speaker 2: He's really good. Yeah, he saw hid where's he at now?
- 6:17Speaker 1: Come on?
- 6:18Speaker 3: I think he went to the Jets. I'm not sure,
- 6:20Speaker 3: but yeah, I mean, listen, tough year. We win the
- 6:24Speaker 3: national championship. You must have forgot about that in twenty
- 6:26Speaker 3: twenty four, and then we go into this past year. Yeah,
- 6:29Speaker 3: we had some difficulties at quarterback. Not going to come
- 6:32Speaker 3: out the boys at all. We had a hard time
- 6:33Speaker 3: tossing the ball over the yard. It was bad. It
- 6:36Speaker 3: was not great. Now we got this cat, Bryce Underwood,
- 6:39Speaker 3: who apparently is the second coming. I'm a little nervous
- 6:42Speaker 3: about that, but like you've got to assume, at the
- 6:44Speaker 3: very least, we're going to be a little bit better.
- 6:46Speaker 3: And the throwing categories were last years. I think our
- 6:48Speaker 3: defense is gonna be really good.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Yeah. I think he'll be really good too.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:51Speaker 3: Have you met him before?
- 6:53Speaker 1: No?
- 6:53Speaker 2: I haven't, But like I've seen in some of my
- 6:56Speaker 2: boys that know him, they say he's pretty good.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Your guys's confidence is obviously very high coming off of
- 7:03Speaker 1: last year. You had an incredible year, iconic best in program, history. Really,
- 7:09Speaker 1: first time you guys ever beat a top five program
- 7:12Speaker 1: in the program's history at home against Alabama. You guys
- 7:16Speaker 1: go down to Bear Bryant Stadium this year. You in
- 7:19Speaker 1: your brain, you think the outcome is going to be
- 7:21Speaker 1: the same.
- 7:22Speaker 2: For sure, I have no doubt. Like we got the
- 7:25Speaker 2: guys to go do it. We got the firepower, we
- 7:27Speaker 2: got the depth, got the defense offense. Like we would
- 7:31Speaker 2: be selling yourselves short if if I was to sit
- 7:34Speaker 2: here and tell you, like we don't have the face
- 7:36Speaker 2: to go win the national championship.
- 7:38Speaker 1: You guys, are you boys are thinking natty?
- 7:40Speaker 3: Yeah, you guys are sitting here in your offseason program.
- 7:44Speaker 3: You're thinking national chap national championship. I don't want to
- 7:47Speaker 3: be rude. That's a that's a very high expectation for
- 7:52Speaker 3: you guys. If you guys don't want a national championship,
- 7:55Speaker 3: was that a disappointment?
- 7:56Speaker 2: For sure? You you win ten games and the sec
- 8:00Speaker 2: you're in the tournament and then it's any one's game,
- 8:04Speaker 2: and you like you, I like me over everyone.
- 8:08Speaker 3: I love the chipps on it shot because when he talks,
- 8:11Speaker 3: you're like, hey play for Vannerbilt, But like Lokey, what
- 8:13Speaker 3: he's talking about I believe everything he's saying.
- 8:16Speaker 1: We interrupt this episode because we are sponsored by Row.
- 8:19Speaker 1: We're just coming off Follo's Day weekend. I'm sure a
- 8:21Speaker 1: lot of I'm sure a lot of wives out there,
- 8:23Speaker 1: a lot of women got their man some roast sparks
- 8:26Speaker 1: because roast sparks are a tune one prescription treatment for
- 8:29Speaker 1: guys who need a secret weapon against softness. Roast sparks

- 8:42Speaker 1: patients get fifteen dollars off their first order of sparks

- 9:11Speaker 3: And have you always had this type of chip on
- 9:12Speaker 3: your shoulder where you're like, yeah, it doesn't matter who's
- 9:16Speaker 3: in front of me, they're they're going down.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Yeah, Like we were talking about wrestling, and wrestling is
- 9:20Speaker 2: a true one on one sport who's better.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Me or you?
- 9:23Speaker 2: And so I feel like I developed it from wrestling
- 9:25Speaker 2: for real.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I was gonna ask too, how much you think
- 9:28Speaker 1: like wrestling played into that. It's like, because you're right, Like,
- 9:30Speaker 1: you go out there, it's one on one, the win
- 9:33Speaker 1: is on you, the loss is on you, right, and
- 9:35Speaker 1: you being as competitive as you were, like learning that
- 9:37Speaker 1: about you being number one in the nation growing up,
- 9:39Speaker 1: Like he was hitting the circuits like the Triple Crown,
- 9:42Speaker 1: Tulsa Reno. We were chopping it up pretty good because
- 9:46Speaker 1: I had no clue that he that he had a
- 9:48Speaker 1: bag like that been wrestling. Yeah, yeah, yeah, we're finding
- 9:51Speaker 1: common friends, common people that we have in common.
- 9:54Speaker 3: Did he ever come across Cody?
- 9:56Speaker 1: No, because he was like, how was your brother? I
- 9:58Speaker 1: asked how he was? He was like twenty three. I
- 9:59Speaker 1: was like, oh, yeah, this about a decade ago. But yeah,
- 10:03Speaker 1: I was like, you know, Cody, how we won senior nationals?
- 10:06Speaker 1: And he's like again, he was a stud wrestler, so
- 10:08Speaker 1: he understands. He understands the respect there. Yeah, he gets
- 10:12Speaker 1: the game.
- 10:12Speaker 3: You talked about being like number one of the nation
- 10:14Speaker 3: from fourth to seventh grade high school? Did you keep
- 10:16Speaker 3: wrestling all the way through?
- 10:18Speaker 2: No, I really like took a year off eighth grade year.
- 10:22Speaker 2: I didn't. I didn't. I knew I loved I love football,
- 10:24Speaker 2: not wrestling, so I was really just focusing on football.
- 10:27Speaker 2: And then I had no offers, but I and I
- 10:30Speaker 2: still had a partial scholarship to unc H Northern Colorado.
- 10:34Speaker 2: And then after that, I was like, no, I'm still
- 10:37Speaker 2: in the state of football. Walked on in Juco.
- 10:39Speaker 1: So you had a partial for wrestling Northern Colorado and
- 10:43Speaker 1: you opted to go to Juco rode in football just
- 10:45Speaker 1: because you loved it more.
- 10:46Speaker 2: Walk on football, dude.
- 10:48Speaker 3: People are going People always talk about how, like, you know,
- 10:51Speaker 3: you look at a guy like Cam Woard zero offers
- 10:53Speaker 3: out of high school, he's now the first overall pick.
- 10:55Speaker 3: When you are going your freshman through senior year of
- 10:58Speaker 3: high school and you're putting out there every single week,
- 11:01Speaker 3: you're you're obsessed with football, you love it. I'm assuming
- 11:03Speaker 3: you're the same intellity you do now, Like what level
- 11:05Speaker 3: of frustration is coming to you when you're seeing other
- 11:08Speaker 3: quarterbacks probably in the same state as you'd been, Like, Bro,
- 11:10Speaker 3: I am better than him. Why are they offering these
- 11:12Speaker 3: cat instead of me? Like talk about like yeah, that
- 11:15Speaker 3: mind frame and all that things, because there are cats
- 11:17Speaker 3: right now that are listening to this podcast that are
- 11:19Speaker 3: probably in the same exact situation. Like I feel like,
- 11:22Speaker 3: am I just delusional? I swear to God I'm better
- 11:24Speaker 3: than these other guys?
- 11:25Speaker 2: Oh yeah, you see it all the time. And then
- 11:26Speaker 2: you go to camps too, and you're putting balls like
- 11:29Speaker 2: in way better spots and this kid's like a four
- 11:31Speaker 2: star and you're like, what the how is that kid
- 11:33Speaker 2: a four star? You know what I mean? But like
- 11:34Speaker 2: you don't want to play or hey either and like
- 11:36Speaker 2: go to coaching, but yo, what the Like why you
- 11:38Speaker 2: got offering this kid and not me? But like at
- 11:41Speaker 2: the same time, like the cream rises at the top
- 11:44Speaker 2: every time.
- 11:45Speaker 1: So what was the journey like when you were in Juco,
- 11:48Speaker 1: because I want to say that there was a story
- 11:49Speaker 1: that they were kind of briefing us on that you
- 11:51Speaker 1: were still you know, not having any offers. Did you
- 11:54Speaker 1: go to the JUCO National Championship. Yeah, so there's another
- 11:57Speaker 1: quarterback there. They've played against that. Yeah.
- 12:00Speaker 2: This is why I liked JUCO two because like the
- 12:02Speaker 2: coaches there, there's a lot of politics in like D one. Now,
- 12:04Speaker 2: if who gets paid more is gonna play and JUCO
- 12:08Speaker 2: do matter if you're a five star, no star coaches
- 12:10Speaker 2: trying to make it out too, so it's best player
- 12:12Speaker 2: on the field all times. And so I transferred in
- 12:15Speaker 2: with this four star and it was me versus four star,
- 12:19Speaker 2: and I legitimately beat out a four star. That's when
- 12:22Speaker 2: I knew stars don't mean nothing. And then took it over.
- 12:25Speaker 2: And then the next year we won the national championship
- 12:27Speaker 2: and then I finally got I had three offers. I
- 12:29Speaker 2: had Jackson State where Dion was New Mexico State, and
- 12:33Speaker 2: then Saint Francis and.
- 12:35Speaker 1: The New Mexico State one because that's where you opted
- 12:37Speaker 1: to go. Was the quarterback you were facing in that
- 12:40Speaker 1: national title game. He was an offered kid from New
- 12:42Speaker 1: Mexico State. You ball out, they end up flipping.
- 12:45Speaker 2: So our head coach, coach Kill and coach beck Aer
- 12:49Speaker 2: offensive coordinator, were at Hooters in Las Cruses, New Mexico
- 12:54Speaker 2: they told me the story, and they're at Hooters having
- 12:57Speaker 2: to be or whatever. They're hammered, and they're watching the
- 13:01Speaker 2: game the night before they offered the other kid that
- 13:05Speaker 2: we're about to play against, and my OC knows I
- 13:08Speaker 2: kind of like get fired up about that stuff. So
- 13:10Speaker 2: he comes to my room. He's like, hey, they offered
- 13:12Speaker 2: the other kid, don't worry about it, just play better
- 13:15Speaker 2: than him. Tomorrow. That went out there. I had like
- 13:19Speaker 2: three touchdowns, two hundred and seventy yards probably like eighty
- 13:23Speaker 2: rushing beat him like thirty one fourteen or something. And
- 13:27Speaker 2: then the next day I got a call from coach
- 13:29Speaker 2: Kill like I was offered. They pulled his scholarship and he.
- 13:33Speaker 3: Told you they pulled this kid scholarship.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Yeah, they told me like the exact story.
- 13:37Speaker 3: Right, yeah, And were you okay this? No, I'm thinking
- 13:40Speaker 3: about it later down the road, Like what was about
- 13:43Speaker 3: coach Kill? Was it really at the time just like, yo,
- 13:45Speaker 3: they offered it the biggest school, I'm going to go there?
- 13:47Speaker 3: Or was there already a relationship kind of intact with
- 13:50Speaker 3: coach Kill?
- 13:50Speaker 2: No, I was thinking about going to Jackson State. But
- 13:53Speaker 2: Dion was so real. He was like, hey, you like
- 13:55Speaker 2: you're not putting this ain't a fifty to fifty. My
- 13:57Speaker 2: son's playing regardless, And he said that, yeah yeah, and.
- 14:00Speaker 3: He's even if you were better than even if.
- 14:02Speaker 2: You're better, like, my son's playing regardless. He's like, we're
- 14:05Speaker 2: looking for a backup. It's like if you want to
- 14:07Speaker 2: come here and be back of him. And I'm thinking
- 14:08Speaker 2: my head, like, I know, fucking back up, you know
- 14:10Speaker 2: what I mean? So I was like, I'm not going
- 14:13Speaker 2: to Saint Francis because I can't go to Lead from there.
- 14:16Speaker 2: So I was thinking, ship in New Mexico State is
- 14:18Speaker 2: my only option?
- 14:20Speaker 1: Damn. What was it like getting recruited by Dion?
- 14:23Speaker 2: It was pretty cool. It was short, it was short,
- 14:25Speaker 2: but he was real. That's what I like.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Yeah, man, that is that is That's awesome.
- 14:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean Dion Sander's sitting there, and for him
- 14:32Speaker 3: to sit there with all the s Sander stuff going on,
- 14:34Speaker 3: he falls in the draft of the fifth round and
- 14:37Speaker 3: essentially you look back five six years ago. He's like, hey, diego, like,
- 14:40Speaker 3: we'd love to have you, but like you'll be holding
- 14:42Speaker 3: a clipboard because no matter what my son's wanting, Yeah,
- 14:44Speaker 3: even if you're throwing dots Yeah, and obviously the wrong
- 14:46Speaker 3: guy to tell that too.
- 14:48Speaker 1: Yeah. Another good trip on his shoulder, right, like you
- 14:51Speaker 1: got a lie? Yeah, less truthful production.
- 14:54Speaker 2: Just keep the mic close to.
- 14:55Speaker 1: The production when you go go to New Mexico State.
- 15:01Speaker 1: Remind me, is this when the world was starting to
- 15:04Speaker 1: open up with transferring in Nio. Yeah?
- 15:07Speaker 2: No, it was the year before, so it might have
- 15:08Speaker 2: been twenty twenty one, twenty twenty two.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Yeah, because I'm asking, because I'm thinking, I think it's.
- 15:13Speaker 2: Twenty twenty two, so and I just started creeping up.
- 15:15Speaker 1: So you're you're probably thinking, Juco, this is probably the
- 15:19Speaker 1: best route so far with New Mexico State. If I
- 15:21Speaker 1: ball out here, I can get to a better program.
- 15:23Speaker 1: Were you even thinking that? Yeah?
- 15:24Speaker 2: No, uh, I was thinking, shit, Well, I lived in
- 15:27Speaker 2: New Mexico my whole life, so it was like I
- 15:30Speaker 2: wanted to play against the Lobos and that's our arrival
- 15:33Speaker 2: school and the Lobos. The first year I was in
- 15:36Speaker 2: now at the lineup playing with this other kid, and
- 15:39Speaker 2: the only game I did not get to play was
- 15:41Speaker 2: against the Lobos. So the next year I was like,
- 15:44Speaker 2: this is money game played against the Lobos. There's a
- 15:48Speaker 2: little story about it that before the year I pissed
- 15:54Speaker 2: on their lobo, like in the mid in the midfield
- 15:58Speaker 2: of their indoor and like before the game, no one
- 16:04Speaker 2: said anything about it, and they were using it as
- 16:06Speaker 2: fuel and they thought they were going to beat us
- 16:08Speaker 2: and then be like use it against me after, you
- 16:10Speaker 2: know what I mean? Anyway, when in there wiped them out,
- 16:14Speaker 2: the head coach was all sad and stuff, but I
- 16:16Speaker 2: really had something against them because they didn't recruit me
- 16:18Speaker 2: either out of Juco and I want a national championship.
- 16:20Speaker 2: They were still losing and or at a high school.
- 16:24Speaker 2: So it was like real life like beef with the coaches.
- 16:26Speaker 1: It was personal for you.
- 16:27Speaker 3: Yeah, so you tail those old as time. Yeah, Like
- 16:30Speaker 3: I'm from this state, I want to go to this school.
- 16:32Speaker 3: I'm assuming you want to go to Lobo. Yeah, and
- 16:34Speaker 3: then they don't offer.
- 16:35Speaker 1: It's like show you, Yeah, no, I gotta go piss
- 16:37Speaker 1: on their loan. What trans the oldest time?
- 16:40Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 16:40Speaker 3: What conversations had to take place or what went through
- 16:42Speaker 3: your brain where you're like, you know what, I don't
- 16:45Speaker 3: know how to get these boys. I'm gonna urinate on
- 16:47Speaker 3: the fifty ross thought.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Before you answer that question, what was your strategy? I
- 16:55Speaker 1: thought it would be funny.
- 16:55Speaker 3: Before you answer that question, I have a question for
- 16:57Speaker 3: Will Comptent. What is lobo.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Spanish for uh no, clue, lobos chicken. Now that's polo.
- 17:06Speaker 3: What's your favorite? Whoa, oh, that's a tough l for
- 17:12Speaker 3: Will Compton, the tough alf Will Constant. But yeah, what's
- 17:15Speaker 3: the what's the thought process?
- 17:17Speaker 2: Like there was no thinking.
- 17:19Speaker 3: It was you don't say these guys, Yeah, yeah, that's
- 17:24Speaker 3: some that's some Blue Mountain State type ship. Johnny Man's
- 17:28Speaker 3: l Blue Mountain State. What's the old Billy Bob Varsity blues?
- 17:35Speaker 3: He just put the VCR thees and kids like, this
- 17:37Speaker 3: is gonna be my this is what I'm doing. So
- 17:41Speaker 3: you just went and pissed the fifth year line? How
- 17:42Speaker 3: did they find out that you did that?
- 17:44Speaker 2: So the the guy who I was with, Reggie, Yeah,
- 17:48Speaker 2: he he posted on Snapchat and then.
- 17:52Speaker 1: So you're with you're with a buddy, and he was
- 17:55Speaker 1: with three buddies.
- 17:56Speaker 3: Picture this fucking cat sweatpants on.
- 18:04Speaker 2: I was with like three buddies and one of them recorded,
- 18:09Speaker 2: but I didn't know. And then I came back to
- 18:10Speaker 2: my phone and they're like, hey, tell Regali take that off.
- 18:13Speaker 2: And I took it off and it was too late.
- 18:15Speaker 3: They already got ahold of it.
- 18:16Speaker 2: I already got a hold of It's.
- 18:17Speaker 3: The news network of New Mexico.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Yep, they jumped all over that shit as hell.
- 18:22Speaker 3: Yeah, we'll score that game.
- 18:23Speaker 2: We beat them by like ten, Okay, so you got
- 18:26Speaker 2: ten fourteen something that Okay.
- 18:29Speaker 1: When does it start to sink in or like when
- 18:31Speaker 1: does the conversations in thought process start to happen that
- 18:33Speaker 1: I can go somewhere else now.
- 18:35Speaker 2: So what happened was at New Mexico State, we were
- 18:42Speaker 2: two and three, ended up ten and three. So like
- 18:45Speaker 2: by game we're like on a win streak and we're
- 18:49Speaker 2: about to go to the conference championship and stuff, and
- 18:51Speaker 2: so like before that, like a game before when we're
- 18:54Speaker 2: like nine and three, my coach gets in my ear like, hey,
- 18:58Speaker 2: I got I got someone calling me from a power
- 19:00Speaker 2: for school. You'd really like it. I want you to
- 19:03Speaker 2: come with me when the season is over. It's like,
- 19:06Speaker 2: all right, bet, like this is my opportunity, you know.
- 19:09Speaker 2: And so he he's doing his thing, and then it's
- 19:12Speaker 2: our offensive coordinator. So our offensive coordinator at the end
- 19:15Speaker 2: of the season leaves and he's like, all right, I'm
- 19:18Speaker 2: going to Vandy, and so he wanted me to come
- 19:20Speaker 2: with them, but coach Kills still out in Mexico State.
- 19:23Speaker 2: Then coach Kill a week later decides to retire, and
- 19:26Speaker 2: then I was like, okay, well if I hire the
- 19:29Speaker 2: defensive coordinator, then I'll stay. Didn't hire him. That was
- 19:32Speaker 2: my sign later, So.
- 19:34Speaker 1: If New Mexico State were to hire the DC, you
- 19:36Speaker 1: would have stayed.
- 19:37Speaker 2: I would have stayed.
- 19:38Speaker 3: Yeah, what was about the DC that you really they
- 19:40Speaker 3: got to hire this guy?
- 19:42Speaker 2: He was real. He wasn't pay me the money I wanted. Okay,
- 19:47Speaker 2: and uh he was like he was the one who, like,
- 19:51Speaker 2: our defense is really good in Mexico State. So I
- 19:52Speaker 2: was thinking, okay, well we could win here and then
- 19:56Speaker 2: there's like a chance like how Boys State went to
- 19:59Speaker 2: the playoffs, like that we'd be that team that whole
- 20:02Speaker 2: team was freaking stacked, Like we got we got Eli,
- 20:10Speaker 2: we got meet Eli, MK Trent. Well, these are just
- 20:13Speaker 2: guys on the team. Yeah yeah, I'm just saying first
- 20:17Speaker 2: names to but you guys are dogs. But we got
- 20:18Speaker 2: dogs on the team. We got like seven of the
- 20:20Speaker 2: guys from New Mexico State team on the Vannerbilt team
- 20:23Speaker 2: and was.
- 20:23Speaker 3: There a situation where you were possibly gonna go be
- 20:25Speaker 3: a part of the wolf pack Nevada.
- 20:28Speaker 2: I committed to Nevada.
- 20:29Speaker 3: So this is while you're in New Mexico State going
- 20:31Speaker 3: a little visit.
- 20:32Speaker 2: So yeah, I took some visits. And the whole time
- 20:35Speaker 2: that I'm taking visits, I'm like, back up my mind,
- 20:37Speaker 2: I thinking I'm going to Vandy. So the whole time
- 20:39Speaker 2: I have a notebook that I'm taking on these visits.
- 20:42Speaker 2: I really didn't know how to read a defense when
- 20:43Speaker 2: I was at New Mexico State, and I'm like just
- 20:45Speaker 2: penciling in, like just meeting with the offensive coordinators how
- 20:47Speaker 2: they how they uh read the defense, you know, middle close, middle, open, blitz,
- 20:54Speaker 2: how they call. And I'm just taking little like details
- 20:56Speaker 2: away from these offensive coordinators just in case I do
- 20:59Speaker 2: go back to Vandy, like how to clean stuff up?
- 21:03Speaker 1: Okay. And this when you were looking and taking business
- 21:05Speaker 1: and thinking about Vandy was coach Kill had he not
- 21:08Speaker 1: retired yet?
- 21:09Speaker 2: So he so he retired, And then I was like,
- 21:12Speaker 2: because Coach Kill is like basically kind of like my dad,
- 21:15Speaker 2: and so like when he retired, I was like, you know,
- 21:19Speaker 2: I'm just going to Nevada, Like Nevada. I really like Nevada.
- 21:22Speaker 2: That like coach Choke And then I commit that night
- 21:25Speaker 2: and I called coach Beck, who's offensive coordinator of Bandy,
- 21:28Speaker 2: and I'm like, hey, like, I'm committed to Nevada, Like
- 21:30Speaker 2: I appreciate you guys. He's like, wait, wait, wait, I
- 21:32Speaker 2: got someone to call you. Coach Kill calls me, tell
- 21:35Speaker 2: me he's coming out of retirement to be basically just
- 21:39Speaker 2: be on the Vanderbilt staff and just take care of
- 21:41Speaker 2: the offense. So then my mom was like, yeah, you're
- 21:45Speaker 2: gonna go to Bandy. So that yeah, I'm going to Bandy.
- 21:47Speaker 3: And have you been to Vandy at this point yet?
- 21:49Speaker 5: No?
- 21:49Speaker 2: It never took a visit.
- 21:50Speaker 3: So did you have no idea about Nashville, Tennessee or
- 21:53Speaker 3: the area or nothing like that? You know what you
- 21:54Speaker 3: saw SEC and Conference? I gotta get there? What's you
- 22:00Speaker 3: throw in there? Right?
- 22:02Speaker 2: Are you good?
- 22:03Speaker 3: God? What did I say something?
- 22:07Speaker 2: Do you know the three conmerces of the NFL, A
- 22:11Speaker 2: f C, NFC and SEC.
- 22:14Speaker 3: But the two last national champions were from the Big Ten?
- 22:18Speaker 5: Right?
- 22:19Speaker 1: But how are you gonna?
- 22:21Speaker 2: But is there more in the Big Ten or in SEC?
- 22:24Speaker 1: College football has to kind.
- 22:25Speaker 3: Of play out like the NL is established a level
- 22:28Speaker 3: playing field that we all we all sit here, we
- 22:30Speaker 3: all everybody can pay players now, right, everybody can pay players,
- 22:33Speaker 3: not just one because you're right, it is a f C,
- 22:35Speaker 3: NFC and SEC, and we're talking about pay checks. But
- 22:38Speaker 3: now that everybody can pay everybody, it's like, okay, now
- 22:41Speaker 3: it's just a f C NFC and then the rest
- 22:43Speaker 3: of college football.
- 22:45Speaker 2: So do you think the Big Ten has a higher
- 22:48Speaker 2: percentage of winning it this year? The SEC, the.
- 22:51Speaker 1: Big Ten, Big Ten, the national title?
- 22:54Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 22:54Speaker 1: Yeah, big?
- 22:55Speaker 3: Oh absolutely.
- 22:57Speaker 2: I mean, listen, you guys about on the back what
- 23:01Speaker 2: you guys know, Yeah, is that double?
- 23:05Speaker 3: Oh that's more than double. But if you look at
- 23:08Speaker 3: the recency like that, So those forty three national championships,
- 23:12Speaker 3: how many of those came after and I al started.
- 23:15Speaker 3: That's that's the question you got to ask because the SEC, ya,
- 23:17Speaker 3: you guys would have national treatment. You guys are paying
- 23:20Speaker 3: seven figures to players.
- 23:22Speaker 2: It's probably when I was in it's probably two and two.
- 23:26Speaker 3: I don't think it is.
- 23:28Speaker 2: Yeah, two and two. You're saying that didn't pay players.
- 23:33Speaker 1: I know we were there. This is a clean conference,
- 23:35Speaker 1: clean conference, high character conference.
- 23:38Speaker 2: No do that?
- 23:40Speaker 3: I mean as far as I know, two and two.
- 23:41Speaker 2: As far as I and two.
- 23:43Speaker 3: Right, two and two, and the last two have been.
- 23:46Speaker 2: If we were having this podcast in twenty twenty two,
- 23:49Speaker 2: I would said the last two have been in the SEC.
- 23:51Speaker 3: But we're not right. If we were, if if this
- 23:55Speaker 3: is nineteen twelve, we've been talking about how the Titanic
- 23:57Speaker 3: sunk a couple of months ago. Like what are we
- 23:58Speaker 3: talking about? Like if I could go back in time,
- 24:02Speaker 3: I would invest in Netflix, but like we're just yeah, exactly,
- 24:06Speaker 3: we're living in the now. Brother, we can talk about
- 24:08Speaker 3: crazy shit.
- 24:09Speaker 1: So, speaking of since the NIL era, give us your
- 24:12Speaker 1: first run in the NIL game, because clearly you had
- 24:16Speaker 1: stuff going on with either stay in New Mexico State.
- 24:18Speaker 1: I want to go to Nevada. Now I'm going to
- 24:20Speaker 1: commit to Vandy. So your first crack in the NIL game.
- 24:24Speaker 2: First cracking the NIL game. I was getting paid fourteen
- 24:27Speaker 2: hundred in New Mexico State, and I was per month
- 24:30Speaker 2: for the year, per month, okay, And I was pissed
- 24:33Speaker 2: because Eli Stowers was getting three thousand a month and
- 24:36Speaker 2: he played tight end and I played quarterback.
- 24:38Speaker 1: So your piss is on your own team. This is
- 24:40Speaker 1: the internal locker room, this.
- 24:41Speaker 2: Internal locker man, fuck that, like I need to go harder,
- 24:45Speaker 2: you know what I mean?
- 24:46Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 24:47Speaker 2: And then it all worked.
- 24:49Speaker 1: And then when Nevada's recruiting you, like, what are they
- 24:51Speaker 1: telling you?
- 24:54Speaker 2: Am I allowed to say that?
- 24:55Speaker 1: I think? Is he not? Why wouldn't he be?
- 24:57Speaker 3: I think? So we could double check. But essentially, when
- 25:01Speaker 3: you are in the transfer portal, people come to you
- 25:03Speaker 3: and they're like, we could pay you this.
- 25:04Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, right, like they like they they everything you
- 25:09Speaker 2: hear on the internet.
- 25:10Speaker 1: I don't even know what's on the internet. Yeah, it's
- 25:12Speaker 1: it's like when so for example, Gryce Underwood.
- 25:15Speaker 3: So there's a four year, ten point two million.
- 25:17Speaker 1: Right right, right, you learned that stuff, but it's not
- 25:19Speaker 1: so you know, candid that you understand what everybody makes
- 25:22Speaker 1: in the NFL. So it's more of like you're saying,
- 25:24Speaker 1: it's more storytelling. So now that you're at Vanderbilt a
- 25:27Speaker 1: couple of years removed from it, I'm just I'm truly curious,
- 25:30Speaker 1: like when you're like a new guy in that circuit,
- 25:33Speaker 1: like what those conversations are actually like and if they're real,
- 25:36Speaker 1: if some of some of it's fake. You feel like
- 25:38Speaker 1: you get lied to and just even understanding that you
- 25:42Speaker 1: had a tied end on your team that was making
- 25:43Speaker 1: more than you, And it's like gotta chip on your
- 25:45Speaker 1: shoulder because that' stuff that everybody talks about but you
- 25:47Speaker 1: don't really understand until year and it's like, oh, that
- 25:49Speaker 1: is a real thing. So I'm truly asking, not on
- 25:52Speaker 1: like a gotcha moment, I'm just like, what were these conversations,
- 25:55Speaker 1: like when you're on a lower level, how much of
- 25:57Speaker 1: that weighs into the impact of you actually going to
- 26:00Speaker 1: that school because just.
- 26:01Speaker 3: With things in respective when Will and I put in college,
- 26:03Speaker 3: you talk about making fourteen hundred, Like I think I
- 26:05Speaker 3: got twelve hundred dollars a month.
- 26:06Speaker 1: Yeah, we were in on a SKLLI check.
- 26:08Speaker 6: Yeah, and just a blanket statement. These are conversations that
- 26:13Speaker 6: he had with people completely separate from any universities.
- 26:16Speaker 1: Yes, yes, yes, that's.
- 26:18Speaker 3: A great insurance pose because we're not here to get anybody.
- 26:20Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Uh.
- 26:24Speaker 2: I would just say like, well, coming from that fourteen
- 26:27Speaker 2: hundred to like these other schools were offering me like
- 26:31Speaker 2: a like a car houses in like big time money.
- 26:36Speaker 2: It's like holy shit, you know, like.
- 26:39Speaker 1: Like that even with like Nevada and when you're coming
- 26:41Speaker 1: out of New Mexico. Yeah, yeah, yeah, damn.
- 26:43Speaker 2: And so like obviously this last year I didn't go
- 26:47Speaker 2: into portal or anything because I knew where I want
- 26:48Speaker 2: to stay. The most important thing to me is like
- 26:51Speaker 2: playing time and then obviously winning a national championship when
- 26:53Speaker 2: we got the guys to go do it. So I
- 26:54Speaker 2: would never leave these guys.
- 26:56Speaker 1: So New Mexico, when you're thinking about Nevada, Vandy, is
- 27:00Speaker 1: there an amount of money that you stay at New
- 27:02Speaker 1: Mexico State? Like does it come down to Obviously there's
- 27:05Speaker 1: other factors, going with your coaches, going with a coach
- 27:09Speaker 1: kill who seems like a father figure to you, Yeah,
- 27:10Speaker 1: I'm sure they probably get a little bit.
- 27:12Speaker 2: That was priceless. Count that was priceless. Of like them
- 27:15Speaker 2: obviously taking me into Mexico State, That's like, that's priceless.
- 27:18Speaker 2: And then I would have stayed at New Mexico State
- 27:21Speaker 2: for one hundred thousand and shit. Yeah. And then at Bandy,
- 27:29Speaker 2: the quarterback they just brought in, they paid them way
- 27:32Speaker 2: over one hundred thousand, and they offered me one hundred
- 27:34Speaker 2: and fifty, And I was like, well, I didn't know that,
- 27:36Speaker 2: you know what I mean, I'm going from fourteen hundred
- 27:38Speaker 2: to one hundred fifty thousand. I'm like, oh, sign me up,
- 27:41Speaker 2: you know what I mean? Yeah, And so that's that's
- 27:44Speaker 2: how I took you last year.
- 27:46Speaker 3: How does college football work when guys are getting paid
- 27:48Speaker 3: this much? Like do you guys have meetings with financial advisors?
- 27:51Speaker 3: Do you have people come in to be like how
- 27:53Speaker 3: do tax Like do you understand taxes? These brackets? Like
- 27:55Speaker 3: do you have people that are taking care of all
- 27:57Speaker 3: this for you?
- 27:57Speaker 2: Yeah? I hate taxes.
- 27:59Speaker 3: Everyone does. Isn't it crazy?
- 28:01Speaker 2: Like the minute, Yeah, it's awful. Yes, but I'm gonna
- 28:04Speaker 2: I live in Nashville, Tennessee too. That's a lot of
- 28:06Speaker 2: things that players don't get, is like the taxes here
- 28:08Speaker 2: like here Florida and there's like seven states, but taxes.
- 28:14Speaker 2: What else did he ask?
- 28:15Speaker 3: Just how how the process works with college football and
- 28:18Speaker 3: like making sure everyone's funny actually literate.
- 28:20Speaker 2: They they So Vanderbilt does a good job of like
- 28:23Speaker 2: bringing in you know, ex players or alumni that are
- 28:28Speaker 2: big time people who work in like the business, and
- 28:30Speaker 2: they come back and tell us all about it, like
- 28:33Speaker 2: we have probably eight nine meetings on it.
- 28:36Speaker 1: When you were younger and coming into this new money
- 28:38Speaker 1: was there ever like a shock or surprising moment of like,
- 28:41Speaker 1: oh fuck, I'm doing a little too much because you're
- 28:43Speaker 1: just now learning about what taxes are, financial advice, you're
- 28:47Speaker 1: starting to get maybe coach kills checking on you or
- 28:49Speaker 1: your mom. Right They're like, okay, I need I wasn't
- 28:51Speaker 1: seeing this rightway. I thought i'd get all this.
- 28:53Speaker 2: Yeah, I give it to my all, to my mom
- 28:56Speaker 2: and she handles it.
- 28:57Speaker 1: That's nice, that's awesome.
- 28:59Speaker 2: That's so I don't. I don't. I've never touched a
- 29:01Speaker 2: dime on my nio.
- 29:02Speaker 3: We're up this episode to bring you true classic boys.
- 29:06Speaker 3: We talked about all the time. I'm truly a cartoon
- 29:08Speaker 3: character when it comes to my outfits. If it's not
- 29:09Speaker 3: true classic, it's not for me. I put this stuff
- 29:12Speaker 3: on every single day. I look in the mirror and
- 29:14Speaker 3: I think, you know what, things aren't as bad as
- 29:16Speaker 3: you thought they were. They fit fantastic. They grabbed the chest,
- 29:18Speaker 3: they grabbed the shoulders. They give you a little bit
- 29:20Speaker 3: in the mid section. Two during the winter months when

- 29:26Speaker 3: Tan Totor, is it tatted toned?
- 29:30Speaker 5: Tan?
- 29:31Speaker 3: Those are the three things.
- 29:32Speaker 1: Tatted tone tight, tatted tone tight.
- 29:34Speaker 3: You can do all three of those things, or you
- 29:36Speaker 3: just put a True Classic T shirt on. That stuff

- 29:58Speaker 3: True Classic. Let's get back to the episode.
- 30:00Speaker 1: When you go to Vandy get in the Nashville for
- 30:04Speaker 1: the first time, You're talking all your new teammates, your
- 30:07Speaker 1: new coaches. They obviously brought in another quarterback who was
- 30:09Speaker 1: making more money than you. Like, what was your you
- 30:12Speaker 1: know first not like welcome to the NFL moment or
- 30:14Speaker 1: like welcome to the SEC, but you feel like you're
- 30:16Speaker 1: in a different league than you were in New Mexico State.
- 30:19Speaker 2: Uh, I don't know if I ever had one. Let
- 30:24Speaker 2: me think, shoot, yeah, I never really had one. I said,
- 30:30Speaker 2: haven't had my welcome to So.
- 30:31Speaker 3: When you get to practice your first practice fumming in
- 30:34Speaker 3: New Mexico State, go to vanderbel and SEC school. The
- 30:37Speaker 3: speed wasn't different to you. Nothing was different to you.
- 30:40Speaker 2: No, I thought I was. I felt pretty good the
- 30:43Speaker 2: whole time, and then especially like taking on those trips,
- 30:47Speaker 2: like I was just studying the game a lot more.
- 30:50Speaker 2: But I would say, like maybe the workouts were like
- 30:54Speaker 2: a little bit more intense. But I think our locker
- 30:56Speaker 2: room was or our weight room was bigger at in
- 30:58Speaker 2: Mexico State, so it just gets hotter and the humidity.
- 31:02Speaker 1: Yeah, were you second or where were you on the
- 31:08Speaker 1: depth chart when you first got here?
- 31:11Speaker 2: In my mind or other people's mind, in other.
- 31:13Speaker 3: People's mind and other people on the whiteboard when you
- 31:15Speaker 3: walk into the quarterback meeting room where you see your
- 31:17Speaker 3: thing at.
- 31:18Speaker 2: So I obviously I knew the offensive coordinator and he
- 31:21Speaker 2: never put us like one above the other. But I
- 31:24Speaker 2: knew I was gonna win the job. Other people thought
- 31:26Speaker 2: like maybe the other kid was going to win. But
- 31:29Speaker 2: it was like you turn on the tape, it's not
- 31:32Speaker 2: in day.
- 31:33Speaker 3: How quickly did you know? Because like, this kid's getting
- 31:35Speaker 3: paid more. You didn't know that at the time, but
- 31:38Speaker 3: you figure out he's getting paid more. You guys want
- 31:40Speaker 3: to spring practice. Obviously you're confident, but you're seeing this
- 31:44Speaker 3: kid throw. Was it very quickly realized?
- 31:45Speaker 2: Okay? It was like it was like, oh yeah, it's
- 31:49Speaker 2: it's beat. But then it was like, okay, I need
- 31:52Speaker 2: to renegotiate my contract if I'm going to be playing
- 31:54Speaker 2: over this kid. You know what I mean? Yeah, but
- 31:56Speaker 2: you can't. Yeah, you can't really do that in the
- 31:59Speaker 2: n C.
- 32:00Speaker 1: How do you balance all that mentally, like not letting
- 32:02Speaker 1: your ego take over too much? Like when that stuff
- 32:04Speaker 1: is coming.
- 32:05Speaker 2: Up, Shoot, it's like, if I really want it, then
- 32:09Speaker 2: I go to the league. Yeah, I'm gonna get paid
- 32:11Speaker 2: more in the league than in college.
- 32:13Speaker 1: We have a team eighty years caid, he sit on
- 32:15Speaker 1: the back. You want to hand him a Mike cad.
- 32:17Speaker 1: When did you know it was gonna be he Diego
- 32:20Speaker 1: was gonna win the job? Was it as quick as
- 32:22Speaker 1: he was realizing it?
- 32:24Speaker 7: Yeah, it was pretty quick. And as an oldligneman, you
- 32:28Speaker 7: get real close to your quarterback. I mean everybody knows
- 32:32Speaker 7: and I think it was honestly during summer workouts and stuff,
- 32:34Speaker 7: just we had a you know, you're you're holding arms
- 32:38Speaker 7: with everybody for team bonding, doing lunges across the field
- 32:41Speaker 7: and everyone we're all a new team, we're all trying
- 32:43Speaker 7: to figure out who's talking, and Diego gets out in
- 32:46Speaker 7: front of everyone's like like everyone shut the fuck up,
- 32:49Speaker 7: like I'm talking right now, like you guys, this is
- 32:51Speaker 7: what we're gonna do. So then that's when it was like,
- 32:54Speaker 7: all right, like this is over before it starts, kind of,
- 32:57Speaker 7: but we knew and like the first time I met
- 33:00Speaker 7: i Go, he had blonde bone.
- 33:01Speaker 1: Tips in his hair, and.
- 33:06Speaker 7: This kid's either going to be insane or we're a
- 33:09Speaker 7: little fucked. Yeah, you know, its quick as he knew it.
- 33:13Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure.
- 33:14Speaker 3: What's the relationship looks like from both of your perspectives
- 33:17Speaker 3: of you with this other quarterback who comes in essentially
- 33:19Speaker 3: thinks he's gonna start, and then you come in. You're
- 33:21Speaker 3: in team meetings or everyone's locked arms doing lunges, you know,
- 33:24Speaker 3: like this shit's not good enough or whatever the speeches
- 33:27Speaker 3: are you you seeing kind of like little friction or
- 33:31Speaker 3: you pretty cool to the other quarterback.
- 33:32Speaker 2: There's there's like that competitive friction that you have with
- 33:35Speaker 2: like everyone that you go into a new room with.
- 33:38Speaker 2: But uh, I guess I think he was like like
- 33:42Speaker 2: one time. I'll tell you this story. One time I
- 33:45Speaker 2: cracked a joke and maybe it was an inappropriate joke
- 33:49Speaker 2: and he was loving it when like he was projected
- 33:52Speaker 2: to start, you know what I mean. And I cracked
- 33:55Speaker 2: the same joke when I was starting, and then he
- 33:58Speaker 2: like texted the coaches about and was like hey, like diego,
- 34:01Speaker 2: that was an inappropriate joke by him, Like he needs
- 34:04Speaker 2: to say sorry. And then like I had to call
- 34:06Speaker 2: him and and he's like, bro, that was not cool,
- 34:08Speaker 2: this and that, and it was just like all right.
- 34:10Speaker 3: So there's two phases of that question. One, you recycle jokes.
- 34:14Speaker 2: Yeah, if they're good.
- 34:15Speaker 1: Yeah, we recycled joke. No, no, no, I'm around and
- 34:20Speaker 1: uh and to like to catch right there.
- 34:23Speaker 3: You know what my my my mind went to, was
- 34:26Speaker 3: you important oy a couple of years ago because you
- 34:28Speaker 3: said a joke to him? Yeah, like hey, and then
- 34:31Speaker 3: at the Super Bowl you did the same thing. He
- 34:32Speaker 3: was like on your asst recycling jokes.
- 34:34Speaker 1: It was the same day I was. I went over
- 34:36Speaker 1: made a joke I forget what it was, but about
- 34:38Speaker 1: like a jacket or something. Yeah, and one of the
- 34:41Speaker 1: boys was saying about me and they laughed. They've also
- 34:43Speaker 1: kind of heard the joke, but when the boys laughed,
- 34:45Speaker 1: I'm like, all right, I'm gonna take it to a
- 34:46Speaker 1: bigger that was gonna work. Yeah, want to have more people,
- 34:49Speaker 1: you know, this joke solid?
- 34:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 34:51Speaker 2: I recycled the game with the women.
- 34:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm some game with the women too. The ship works,
- 35:02Speaker 1: like when he's spent in game. Yeah. Like And so
- 35:07Speaker 1: then Dave obviously jumps on. It's oh, you're recycling jokes.
- 35:10Speaker 1: It's like, that's that's.
- 35:12Speaker 3: What's what you like, Dave. You haven't said the same
- 35:14Speaker 3: words in the same sentence before ever again. But that's
- 35:17Speaker 3: basically where I got that. What when you weren't starting
- 35:20Speaker 3: what was a joke?
- 35:22Speaker 5: Uh?
- 35:24Speaker 3: His uh?
- 35:26Speaker 2: His girlfriend made something to eat and it was sushi,
- 35:32Speaker 2: and I was like, oh, you're having sushi twice tonight,
- 35:34Speaker 2: huh and he was he was laughing his ass off.
- 35:38Speaker 2: And then I made the joke again. I was like, hey,
- 35:39Speaker 2: what are you happing again? Sushi twice? And then that
- 35:43Speaker 2: was the same joke, and he was like all up
- 35:45Speaker 2: in arms about that.
- 35:46Speaker 3: Yeah, I feel like a quarterback. Oh here, First off, dude,
- 35:52Speaker 3: I love how open you are because you don't get
- 35:54Speaker 3: a lot of quarters but I don't want you to
- 35:56Speaker 3: sit in the team meeting at Vanderbilt the coach and
- 35:58Speaker 3: be like, what are we doing?
- 36:00Speaker 1: He's gone.
- 36:00Speaker 2: Now he's gone. Now he's gone. Now where's he at?
- 36:03Speaker 2: He's at Utah.
- 36:04Speaker 3: I mean people could look this up where he's he's
- 36:05Speaker 3: at the utes, Like people even know where this guy is.
- 36:08Speaker 3: That's crazy, that's crazy. That's fucking insane. It's uh started
- 36:16Speaker 3: starting spring camp. You're second the depth chart through in
- 36:19Speaker 3: the depth chart.
- 36:21Speaker 2: Uh, there was like no depth chart, like we were
- 36:23Speaker 2: rotating between three quarterbacks though open competition competition.
- 36:27Speaker 3: We're all fann and all of you guys transferring from
- 36:30Speaker 3: other schools to Vanderbilt or the transfer there is that
- 36:35Speaker 3: kid still there?
- 36:36Speaker 2: Yeah, he's actually really talented. He's got a strong arm,
- 36:38Speaker 2: really good. Yeah. I think if he went to like
- 36:41Speaker 2: more of a pro style, like he'd popped more. He's
- 36:43Speaker 2: really good.
- 36:45Speaker 3: So why why do you think? Have you had that
- 36:47Speaker 3: conversation with him? Like yeah, he's like, hey man, maybe
- 36:50Speaker 3: you go and do this. And what year is he?
- 36:51Speaker 2: Yeah he's uh he has two more years left. But
- 36:57Speaker 2: that Vanderbilt degree is something. Well, yeah that's really smart kid.
- 37:02Speaker 1: Yeah, sure, going like in into the year this year,
- 37:06Speaker 1: were you aware that you were going to get an
- 37:07Speaker 1: extra year at first? Like, what are you hearing? You
- 37:10Speaker 1: have a you have a legendary year Vanderbilt. You guys
- 37:14Speaker 1: exceeded all expectations. You're having a hell of a run.
- 37:17Speaker 1: Like are you talking to NFL? Are you thinking NFL?
- 37:20Speaker 1: Are you thinking I want to get an extra year?
- 37:21Speaker 1: There could be a possibility? Like what was that process
- 37:25Speaker 1: like for you at the end of the season, looking
- 37:27Speaker 1: at the neck this year that we're in.
- 37:28Speaker 2: Now, Yeah, well we beat we beat uh, so we're
- 37:31Speaker 2: tuned too. Then we beat Bam, and then we beat
- 37:33Speaker 2: Kentucky and then like Kentucky game, I got kind of
- 37:37Speaker 2: hurt that big motherfucker Dion Walker just sat on me
- 37:42Speaker 2: and it was like all right, and then I'm kind
- 37:44Speaker 2: of like straggling out the whole year. And so when
- 37:47Speaker 2: it was brought up to me that I could play
- 37:49Speaker 2: possibly play another year, I was like, oh, yeah, let's
- 37:51Speaker 2: do it. So then I just it got filed and
- 37:56Speaker 2: had a really good lawyer and everything worked out.
- 38:00Speaker 1: It wasn't like were you you weren't even considering the
- 38:03Speaker 1: potential or maybe looking around for the next level yet.
- 38:06Speaker 2: No, I was I was asking, like coach Lee, like
- 38:10Speaker 2: about agents and things like that and what the you know,
- 38:13Speaker 2: scouts are saying and what they wanted to see. But
- 38:18Speaker 2: it was just I think, in my favorite to get
- 38:19Speaker 2: two years under the SEC under my belt and then no,
- 38:23Speaker 2: we win the national Championship and I win the Heisman,
- 38:26Speaker 2: then there's no there's no reason why I don't get drafted.
- 38:29Speaker 1: First round based on the feedback that you heard from
- 38:31Speaker 1: the next level, Like what chip on your shoulder do
- 38:34Speaker 1: you have? Now? Like what what things were you hearing?
- 38:36Speaker 2: They said, I need to get uh maybe better as
- 38:39Speaker 2: a passer, say in the pocket, don't leave as much,
- 38:43Speaker 2: and so I need to work the pocket more.
- 38:46Speaker 3: Okay, do you agree with that criticism or do you
- 38:49Speaker 3: think that well, I.
- 38:51Speaker 2: Could get better at everything. But I mean we had
- 38:56Speaker 2: a lot of a lot of play calls to you know,
- 38:59Speaker 2: roll outside the pocket for you know, they got the
- 39:02Speaker 2: like Dylan Stewart, off the edges is really.
- 39:05Speaker 1: Good, James Pearce is off the edge is really good.
- 39:07Speaker 2: So I think doing little things to make sure those
- 39:12Speaker 2: guys get off my back and then just let me
- 39:14Speaker 2: make plays that ac like that's where I'm best at
- 39:17Speaker 2: making plays.
- 39:18Speaker 3: Yeah. Improv Yeah, improvisation on the field, yep. When did
- 39:21Speaker 3: you realize that you had that that capability to take
- 39:24Speaker 3: the ex's and o's of a play. It's drawn up
- 39:26Speaker 3: a certain way in a whiteboard, but you can extend
- 39:28Speaker 3: plays and figure it all.
- 39:29Speaker 2: Out little league football. I have some pretty nice tape
- 39:33Speaker 2: in little league football. Nasty, Yeah, some nasty tapes. But
- 39:38Speaker 2: I think that's when I figured it out. And then
- 39:41Speaker 2: just having the confidence that I do and then installing
- 39:43Speaker 2: it in like the guys around me, and then you
- 39:45Speaker 2: become unstoppable.
- 39:47Speaker 1: How as a guy who's pissing them on a logo
- 39:54Speaker 1: back in New Mexico State and you have, you know,
- 39:57Speaker 1: the stories of the ago and all the fun one
- 40:00Speaker 1: that you have on the field, shit talking and everything else.
- 40:02Speaker 1: How do you feel like you've approached maybe this year,
- 40:06Speaker 1: whether it's a little bit differently because you could be
- 40:08Speaker 1: going to the professional level and you being a little
- 40:11Speaker 1: bit more conscious about everything that you're doing. Do you
- 40:13Speaker 1: feel like you've had, you know, a moment to where
- 40:15Speaker 1: you've kind of reflected on things and thinking like, hey,
- 40:18Speaker 1: the act is awesome, it's a lot of fun, but
- 40:20Speaker 1: I also got to kind of put my head down
- 40:21Speaker 1: to work a little bit more because it is a
- 40:22Speaker 1: bit of an uphill battle at times.
- 40:24Speaker 2: Right. Yeah, I've actually done a lot of reflecting on
- 40:28Speaker 2: how I could get better. One is being in the
- 40:31Speaker 2: training room more. I'm always around the facility. Like I
- 40:36Speaker 2: get there. I wake up at five every morning, wake
- 40:38Speaker 2: my bed, you know, pray to God, and then like
- 40:41Speaker 2: I'm in the facility by about six fifteen, and I
- 40:43Speaker 2: don't lead to about six. So I'm just doing everything
- 40:46Speaker 2: I can possible to stay healthy for the season. Another
- 40:49Speaker 2: thing too, was like sometimes when I say I would party,
- 40:54Speaker 2: I mean that I would have a good time, you know,
- 40:56Speaker 2: laugh with my friends. I don't I rarely drink, be
- 41:00Speaker 2: lying if I said I didn't drink, but I rarely drink.
- 41:02Speaker 2: And so like those staying up late affecting me for Sunday,
- 41:07Speaker 2: which roll over to Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and then it
- 41:10Speaker 2: was just like a trickle effect. Yeah, so like I
- 41:12Speaker 2: feel like, uh, Sunday, once I get home after the game,
- 41:16Speaker 2: I needed, you know, stretch, get in my little thing
- 41:18Speaker 2: after the game on Saturday, and then be ready to
- 41:20Speaker 2: go for the next week.
- 41:21Speaker 3: Yeah, it's gotta be hard to when you're when you're
- 41:23Speaker 3: doing things at Vanderbilt that haven't been done in a
- 41:26Speaker 3: long time. You're essentially reviving an entire you know, program, and.
- 41:30Speaker 1: Guys are goal post down.
- 41:33Speaker 3: That was where I was getting good and go with that,
- 41:34Speaker 3: Like you beat Alabama and you take the goal post
- 41:37Speaker 3: and you marsh that thing all the way down to
- 41:38Speaker 3: the Cumberland River, Like what where were you doing that?
- 41:42Speaker 5: Are you?
- 41:42Speaker 3: Are you ral rushing the field? Get in the locker room, like, hey,
- 41:45Speaker 3: let's speed up this speech. I gotta go a little
- 41:50Speaker 3: bit of fun because that's a long ass way down
- 41:52Speaker 3: the Broadway. Yeah it is.
- 41:53Speaker 2: My My brothers and my family are like really crazy,
- 41:57Speaker 2: like crazy in a good way. But like and I'll
- 42:00Speaker 2: tell you guys the story of how crazy they are.
- 42:02Speaker 2: But like they were like, bro, hurry that ship up,
- 42:05Speaker 2: like we got a fucking bounce. We they they literally
- 42:09Speaker 2: Sunday the day after they literally opened the bar and
- 42:12Speaker 2: ended the bar like until it was closed, and it
- 42:14Speaker 2: was just like, bro, these guys are wild, you know
- 42:17Speaker 2: what I mean? So like, obviously you want to join
- 42:20Speaker 2: them in stuff, but you got responsibilities. So that's what
- 42:23Speaker 2: makes it Like, that's what makes it hard. Obviously they're
- 42:25Speaker 2: only in town for like a few days and then
- 42:26Speaker 2: they go back. Yeah, but I mean we had some
- 42:30Speaker 2: really good times this year. For sure.
- 42:32Speaker 1: How was that night? Kay, you can talk about it too.
- 42:34Speaker 1: But the night you guys do beat Alabama and take
- 42:38Speaker 1: them down and the city is just absolutely on fire.
- 42:41Speaker 2: Uh we all went to Broadway.
- 42:43Speaker 1: Let's pretend we're all retired. Just pretend we're all retired. Sure, yeah,
- 42:48Speaker 1: relived the glory day taking down the Crimson Tide.
- 42:53Speaker 3: Just a team that's won, you know, forty one of
- 42:55Speaker 3: those forty three national championship, Like.
- 42:59Speaker 2: It was a good time.
- 43:00Speaker 3: You get the twelve yard game. The game is over, games,
- 43:04Speaker 3: manor beilt. Fans are on the fields. They du Hey,
- 43:08Speaker 3: let's live in reality. Like you guys are playing away
- 43:10Speaker 3: games at home, and that's changing because of you guys.
- 43:17Speaker 3: Like people are juicy fucking.
- 43:18Speaker 2: Look at that kid he's getting after right there. I
- 43:21Speaker 2: love it, dude, seventeen.
- 43:22Speaker 3: This kid he's got the same size legs as me.
- 43:25Speaker 3: He's getting after it. Bro. But I'm just saying, like,
- 43:27Speaker 3: these fans storm the field. You are you are now
- 43:30Speaker 3: probably realizing like we've done something for the first time ever.
- 43:34Speaker 1: Yeah, but this is incredible as Foster. You win just
- 43:37Speaker 1: a fucking massive game. The vibes are absolutely psychotic, psychotic.
- 43:41Speaker 2: I really didn't, I really didn't. It didn't hit me
- 43:44Speaker 2: until like a week a week after like like maybe
- 43:46Speaker 2: we have to beat Kentucky or something like. It really
- 43:49Speaker 2: didn't hit me until then. But that night was it
- 43:52Speaker 2: was jumping for sure. I mean we we went all
- 43:56Speaker 2: went to barstool. The whole top was rented out for us.
- 44:01Speaker 2: You know, we stood up so late that night and
- 44:03Speaker 2: then they thought we're gonna lose to Kentucky. Beat them
- 44:08Speaker 2: the next week too, but it that's that's when I
- 44:11Speaker 2: got hurt. But I feel like God kind of gave
- 44:14Speaker 2: me a signal right there. It was like, hey, you
- 44:17Speaker 2: can't just go out and party when you have a
- 44:18Speaker 2: big wins, like I'm gonna give you more big wins,
- 44:21Speaker 2: just you can't part like that. And so that that's
- 44:23Speaker 2: like for this year, you know what I mean, that's
- 44:25Speaker 2: why he gave me another year. Yeah, so it's get
- 44:27Speaker 2: it right this time.
- 44:29Speaker 1: I was the experience from from your vantage point, because
- 44:31Speaker 1: you know, offensive linemen, they're like, we're getting the fuck
- 44:34Speaker 1: we're getting after this.
- 44:35Speaker 7: But yeah, it was good. I don't even know if
- 44:39Speaker 7: he knows this, but I lasted an hour and a
- 44:42Speaker 7: half at the bar, like it was a quick night
- 44:46Speaker 7: for me, and that doesn't happen very often. And so
- 44:48Speaker 7: I was getting after it pretty hard, but not like
- 44:52Speaker 7: the field rush stuff. Like he was probably the calmest
- 44:55Speaker 7: in the huddle, which is surprising. Once he got that
- 44:59Speaker 7: first down, it was there was some kind of there
- 45:01Speaker 7: was some antics on the field everybody knows about, but uh,
- 45:04Speaker 7: we were kind of all the huddle.
- 45:06Speaker 1: About no buddy, did the shove or kicked the ball,
- 45:08Speaker 1: hit the ball?
- 45:08Speaker 3: We had the ball kid?
- 45:10Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, the push in the face. And I had
- 45:13Speaker 7: only played that drive, Like I sat for three and
- 45:15Speaker 7: a half hours the whole game and then got in
- 45:17Speaker 7: on the on the four minute drive to get the
- 45:20Speaker 7: first downs to win the game against the number one
- 45:22Speaker 7: ranked team, and I was like, oh shit, like you know,
- 45:25Speaker 7: my knees hurt already hitting in the stance. Yeah, and
- 45:28Speaker 7: so all the antics whatever, he gets the first down,
- 45:32Speaker 7: face pushed in the ground. I kind of ran after
- 45:34Speaker 7: it a little bit, but like we got back in
- 45:37Speaker 7: the huddle, He's like, all right, right, all right, Like
- 45:39Speaker 7: we got to get this snap, We got to get
- 45:41Speaker 7: this snap because it's victory, and he was the most
- 45:43Speaker 7: calm one. And then the field rush went to the
- 45:46Speaker 7: locker room and everyone's like in the locker room like,
- 45:48Speaker 7: all right, let's let's get out of here. We got
- 45:51Speaker 7: some stuff to handle.
- 45:52Speaker 3: Yeah, dude, talk to me about the emotion of a
- 45:54Speaker 3: field rush, Like as a player, I only had to
- 45:58Speaker 3: experience that, I think one time, and that's when we
- 46:01Speaker 3: beat Ohio State. And it is like the most electric
- 46:04Speaker 3: feeling in the entire world. When all the fans are
- 46:06Speaker 3: on the field, they're jumping, they're grabbing you, they're pulling you.
- 46:09Speaker 3: You essentially feel like like the biggest star in the
- 46:12Speaker 3: world for a moment. Like what was that like for
- 46:15Speaker 3: you guys?
- 46:17Speaker 2: It was nuts. I had all my boys there too.
- 46:18Speaker 2: I wasn't trying to lose that football right there. And
- 46:26Speaker 2: then uh n I l Now like I my jersey
- 46:29Speaker 2: sold for like forty thousand, that jerseys.
- 46:32Speaker 3: Yeah, why don't you keep the jersey?
- 46:34Speaker 2: Huh? I should have?
- 46:45Speaker 7: You know the guy that has it though, right?
- 46:46Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, it's what like it's one of those guys
- 46:49Speaker 2: that though and he's good people do.
- 46:51Speaker 3: He's a good guy, good enough guy to give it
- 46:53Speaker 3: back to you.
- 46:55Speaker 2: Uh, there's one one way to find out.
- 46:58Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, for forty one dollars. Good man?
- 47:05Speaker 1: What uh? What was for you your best freestyle, most
- 47:09Speaker 1: memorable style play for yourself where you kind of went
- 47:12Speaker 1: off the went off the whiteboard and made something happen
- 47:14Speaker 1: the coaches weren't expecting it. Uh.
- 47:18Speaker 2: At New Mexico State, we're playing against utub and it's
- 47:22Speaker 2: like two minute drill and I call my own play
- 47:26Speaker 2: and I do all Berts and I'm thinking IM about
- 47:29Speaker 2: to hit this seam up to Eli, but like the
- 47:32Speaker 2: safety closed it, so I spin out. I'm rolling left
- 47:35Speaker 2: full speed. This kid comes our boy, So if we're
- 47:38Speaker 2: going that way, he comes back and then goes back
- 47:41Speaker 2: and I do like a forty yard dime on the
- 47:44Speaker 2: money over the shoulder and he just he just gets cracked.
- 47:48Speaker 1: Let's fucking go, dude. What kay for you? What's this
- 47:52Speaker 1: man like in the huddle? Any moments that stand out?
- 47:58Speaker 7: Yeah, So my first play of the Alabama game like
- 48:02Speaker 7: stands out to me of all of them. We're on
- 48:05Speaker 7: the goal line and we're running one of our our
- 48:07Speaker 7: goal line run schemes and it's a two play scheme,
- 48:10Speaker 7: so we're either running one player or the other, and
- 48:12Speaker 7: we hear it because of the cadence, we know which
- 48:14Speaker 7: play we're running. And it was my first play of
- 48:17Speaker 7: the game. And he's tired as hell from the you know,
- 48:20Speaker 7: the drive before, and so he's like.
- 48:24Speaker 2: Ready break, and I was like.
- 48:28Speaker 7: All right, so I kind of just followed the guy
- 48:29Speaker 7: I knew I needed to follow, and uh, I think
- 48:33Speaker 7: I just down blocked because I didn't know the play.
- 48:36Speaker 7: But that's normally like how he is. Is normally really calm,
- 48:40Speaker 7: normally really collected, like all right, guys like got to
- 48:42Speaker 7: get the first year whatever, prey this quarterback stuff. You know,
- 48:45Speaker 7: they got to command the huddle. But that play stands
- 48:47Speaker 7: out to me just because he's spitting everywhere, and you know,
- 48:50Speaker 7: I had no idea what the play was.
- 48:52Speaker 2: Got to get the shit out, make some checks when
- 48:53Speaker 2: we get to the line.
- 48:55Speaker 1: Do you have uh, do you have moments that stand
- 48:57Speaker 1: down in the huddle?
- 49:00Speaker 2: We have a we have a funny guy who like
- 49:03Speaker 2: talks ship. His name is Chase Mitchell, but he stutters
- 49:06Speaker 2: a lot, so he's like that boy, you have fuck
- 49:10Speaker 2: with me. But like so that I'd just be laughing
- 49:19Speaker 2: and then like, uh, but nah, I'm usually like pure business,
- 49:25Speaker 2: trying to get the guys in and out so I
- 49:26Speaker 2: like make checks. It's game time. This shit ready to go.
- 49:29Speaker 1: How much after the year was the portal blowing up
- 49:31Speaker 1: for you on potential teams wanting you to come be
- 49:33Speaker 1: the quarterback for them at a different school A lot?
- 49:38Speaker 2: It was like, yeah, it was less reaching out to me.
- 49:41Speaker 2: It was like more reaching out to like my brothers
- 49:43Speaker 2: and my family and stuff.
- 49:44Speaker 3: Was there a dollar amount that you heard that was
- 49:47Speaker 3: like holy shit?
- 49:49Speaker 2: Uh yeah, I don't know if I'm supposed to share,
- 49:53Speaker 2: but like anywhere from like four to four point five.
- 49:56Speaker 3: To leave and go somewhere to leave? What will conference?
- 50:01Speaker 2: Sect in conference?
- 50:04Speaker 1: In conference teams trying to get you.
- 50:08Speaker 2: You want to play with the best. You don't want
- 50:10Speaker 2: to play with the Big ten. You ignore those.
- 50:16Speaker 1: Class two national titles, your calls, you know that the whole.
- 50:23Speaker 2: But you got to think about this, dude. The SEC
- 50:25Speaker 2: is like nothing like okay, the Big ten. You have
- 50:30Speaker 2: like the house state Oregon. It's Michigan, Michigan, Penn State, Michigan,
- 50:37Speaker 2: Penn State.
- 50:38Speaker 3: Yeah you believe after this year in Nebraska, I got
- 50:41Speaker 3: you kids.
- 50:43Speaker 2: Yeah, we will see, but we just got to you
- 50:46Speaker 2: got all dogs, So like you really only have four
- 50:49Speaker 2: games a year like the SC. It's like week after
- 50:52Speaker 2: week after like you're gonna get beat on like the
- 50:55Speaker 2: Big Ten. You ain't gonna get beat on with like
- 50:57Speaker 2: the per Dude.
- 51:00Speaker 1: You like that's a bullshit comment, like a week after
- 51:02Speaker 1: week like that's that's that's real though. Listen, I'm here
- 51:09Speaker 1: to have a I'm here to have a clean podcast,
- 51:11Speaker 1: not here to talk too much ship to start it off,
- 51:14Speaker 1: I don't want to. I don't want to shoot on
- 51:15Speaker 1: any SEC teams.
- 51:18Speaker 3: But you guys would have your hands full of Illinois.
- 51:22Speaker 2: Oh yeah, Illinois is a good team.
- 51:24Speaker 1: Yeah they are.
- 51:25Speaker 3: It's a good ball club. What about us, Yeah.
- 51:27Speaker 2: They are, buddy us C.
- 51:30Speaker 1: Yeah, USC is a tough team. I haven't Washington, Washington, Iowa.
- 51:38Speaker 2: You're gonna you've gotta score seven points it beat Iowa.
- 51:41Speaker 1: It's gonna be a tough seven.
- 51:45Speaker 3: Guys. You guys program Iowa resurrected an extinct cornerback, Like
- 51:51Speaker 3: that is you want to talk about who can achieve more?
- 51:54Speaker 3: I mean, here's there's a cornerback in the NFL that's
- 51:57Speaker 3: white right now. I don't know I know a couple
- 52:00Speaker 3: of them were thinking.
- 52:01Speaker 1: About Riley Moss.
- 52:02Speaker 2: Now Regenia is good, you know, ship, But I'm saying,
- 52:08Speaker 2: like you have to like the trenches too, the different
- 52:13Speaker 2: the trenches. Let's think about this football are from the
- 52:19Speaker 2: SEC except like abdo card, like you'll find one, like
- 52:22Speaker 2: you'll have one or.
- 52:23Speaker 3: Two third overall pick this year.
- 52:25Speaker 2: Yeah, but like you got if the kid from South
- 52:29Speaker 2: Carolina could have left, would have been a first round pick.
- 52:33Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, we saw him at a immediate day
- 52:37Speaker 3: is the super Bowl? He he looked a part. Yeah,
- 52:40Speaker 3: he looked the part. Who was who was, in your mind?
- 52:43Speaker 3: The best defense he played against all year.
- 52:45Speaker 2: The best defense Texas. Yeah.
- 52:49Speaker 1: I was at that game. Bummed you guys couldn't make
- 52:52Speaker 1: it out.
- 52:52Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, that kid Michael taff Is, he's good.
- 52:58Speaker 2: He's like an elite. But you know those white kids
- 53:01Speaker 2: who are going to be the right right play, right time,
- 53:03Speaker 2: it's that kid always going to be in the right spot.
- 53:07Speaker 3: Great technique, great technique.
- 53:09Speaker 2: Yeah, well he'll be perfect, perfect sound perfect.
- 53:12Speaker 3: I will say this. I thought, man, that Asu Texas
- 53:15Speaker 3: game in the playoffs, I thought, as you should have
- 53:17Speaker 3: won that game. I know they should have won that game.
- 53:20Speaker 2: I don't like how people should on Quinn the Ewers us.
- 53:23Speaker 3: I don't like that either.
- 53:24Speaker 2: Quinn Hewers is a solid quarterback.
- 53:27Speaker 1: I don't think anybody was saying that we I don't
- 53:28Speaker 1: think we were shopping on Quinn.
- 53:30Speaker 3: No, no, no, no, I'm just saying, like, I think
- 53:31Speaker 3: he's just bringing this out of his own back. He's
- 53:33Speaker 3: thought about this for a minute. He's like, I got
- 53:34Speaker 3: to make sure I say this.
- 53:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 53:35Speaker 2: No, no, like he went seventh round like he should have.
- 53:38Speaker 2: You got to think about Texas before Quinn, you know
- 53:41Speaker 2: what I mean, Like they were winning too many games.
- 53:42Speaker 2: Then Quinn goes and now they're in the like possibly
- 53:46Speaker 2: the championship. If he doesn't get strips sacked right.
- 53:48Speaker 3: Right against a Big ten football team, here he goes.
- 53:53Speaker 3: I'm just dude.
- 53:54Speaker 1: I mean that's a fact.
- 53:55Speaker 3: That is the fact. Against a d ND who was
- 54:00Speaker 3: drafted in the third round.
- 54:02Speaker 2: He's good. There's a lot of good players in the
- 54:03Speaker 2: Big ten too.
- 54:04Speaker 3: I don't know, there's some good ball players in this seed.
- 54:09Speaker 3: There's no doubt about it. I'm what the main thing
- 54:11Speaker 3: is is now that everybody can get paid, we definitely equalized.
- 54:15Speaker 1: There's a lot more parody in the game now.
- 54:16Speaker 2: Yes, absolutely, it's two and two, so it's equal right now, as.
- 54:20Speaker 3: We'll find out this year. That's right, Vanderbilt twenty twenty six, right,
- 54:25Speaker 3: I guess it would be twenty twenty six National.
- 54:27Speaker 2: Chains in Miami.
- 54:28Speaker 1: What are your Obviously there's a lot of discussion around
- 54:30Speaker 1: the College Fable Playoff in the format, like what would
- 54:32Speaker 1: you what would be your critiques for the College Fable Playoff?
- 54:34Speaker 1: You want to see it go to sixteen.
- 54:36Speaker 2: I think that the as he's seeing, the Big ten
- 54:38Speaker 2: should obviously get the four bids regardless, and then they
- 54:42Speaker 2: could do whatever they want from there.
- 54:44Speaker 1: And you like, you like how they structured it as like,
- 54:48Speaker 1: you know, if you win your conference, you don't automatically
- 54:49Speaker 1: get a by They're kind of just they're kind of
- 54:51Speaker 1: seeded it true now right?
- 54:52Speaker 2: Yes? Yeah? I like that.
- 54:54Speaker 3: Yeah, I think the bags end needs to change. Is
- 54:56Speaker 3: right after conference championships, you go right in two the
- 55:00Speaker 3: next week has the first round. We don't need this
- 55:02Speaker 3: three weeks or whatever it is, Like, let's have all
- 55:05Speaker 3: of December and let's knock this shit out.
- 55:08Speaker 1: Is this their schedule right here? Sure? How do you
- 55:11Speaker 1: feel about your guys' schedule this year?
- 55:13Speaker 2: You got Great South.
- 55:14Speaker 1: Carolina, Alabama at South Carolina at Alabama, Virginia.
- 55:19Speaker 2: Got Charleston Southern, We got Virginia Tech, South Carolina, Georgia State,
- 55:23Speaker 2: Utah State, every game any given Sunday, Editing Giving Saturday.
- 55:27Speaker 1: Really, I mean, what happened in Georgia State. How you
- 55:32Speaker 1: guys put on a season like that last year and
- 55:34Speaker 1: you have a you know the laughs that you guys did,
- 55:37Speaker 1: and shit happens.
- 55:40Speaker 2: They came out and they punched us first, and then
- 55:43Speaker 2: we had to lead like seventeen seconds up to go
- 55:46Speaker 2: and do a bomb touchdown. I guess sixty yard bomb.
- 55:52Speaker 2: We have about like three.
- 55:56Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 55:57Speaker 3: When you look at the schedule, like you said, you know,
- 56:00Speaker 3: every single week you're going out at blah blah blah.
- 56:02Speaker 3: You gotta play at Alabama, at Tennessee, at Texas, at
- 56:07Speaker 3: South Carolina, at South Carolina, sandstorm, Sandstorm. Playing that place
- 56:13Speaker 3: gets rowdy, sleeper place to play, sleeper place. How many
- 56:19Speaker 3: of these games are you coming out? Twelve games that I.
- 56:23Speaker 1: Was thinking about asking, but since he said National Championship earlier,
- 56:26Speaker 1: I'm like he's gonna say.
- 56:27Speaker 3: Twelve and oh yeah, who do you okay, who do
- 56:29Speaker 3: you think is which one of these games is like circle,
- 56:32Speaker 3: do you like this is?
- 56:32Speaker 2: I gotta make sure I don't want to give the
- 56:35Speaker 2: pony no field. What do they see that?
- 56:37Speaker 3: I think at this point we've already gotten past that.
- 56:40Speaker 1: I think every school knows they need to have their
- 56:42Speaker 1: cameras on at all time. Yeah, if Diego is in
- 56:44Speaker 1: town the day before game game three, Game three, oh
- 56:52Speaker 1: doude do we say it? I don't even know we
- 56:54Speaker 1: can say.
- 56:54Speaker 3: I mean, people can go look South Carolina, this is
- 56:57Speaker 3: a podcast, it'll be out to the world.
- 56:59Speaker 1: They'll be tough year man. Yeah, he got a squad.
- 57:01Speaker 3: I mean, after what you did to Alabama too, Like,
- 57:03Speaker 3: you better keep your head in a swivel down in Tuscaloosa.
- 57:05Speaker 3: I don't know if you like there's a chance you
- 57:07Speaker 3: might not make it to the game. The fans go
- 57:10Speaker 3: crazy out there.
- 57:10Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I got my brothers with me. We're good.
- 57:13Speaker 1: Do you feel like you feel like you guys have
- 57:17Speaker 1: more respect in college football right now? Like, do you
- 57:19Speaker 1: feel like there's a little bit more pressure that's kind
- 57:21Speaker 1: of come with this year?
- 57:22Speaker 5: Uh?
- 57:24Speaker 2: Nah, Like it's just as long as we get better
- 57:27Speaker 2: in our like detail, we'll be fine. Like we're really
- 57:30Speaker 2: just worried about us right now, Like we don't really
- 57:31Speaker 2: care about what other people say or anything like that.
- 57:35Speaker 2: Like everyone just focused internally.
- 57:36Speaker 1: Yeah, people could be San Diego. One one hit wonder,
- 57:41Speaker 1: one good year might be all he has. Right, we're
- 57:44Speaker 1: gonna put him in his place this year.
- 57:45Speaker 3: There's enough film on him. We see what he does.
- 57:46Speaker 1: We know tendency to shut him down.
- 57:49Speaker 3: Right, gets a little loose with the ball and he
- 57:50Speaker 3: rolls out to the left.
- 57:51Speaker 1: Yeah, he's probably gonna try to stay in the pocket
- 57:54Speaker 1: a little bit more this year because he's been here
- 57:55Speaker 1: in the fluff At the next.
- 57:56Speaker 3: Time, scout say you have to sit in the pocket,
- 57:58Speaker 3: don't worry. We'll condense the pocket contained rush him.
- 58:01Speaker 1: This one. Games at the middle from Juco and New
- 58:03Speaker 1: Mexico State, right.
- 58:05Speaker 3: Boys, the kids from New Mexico. Well, you can count
- 58:08Speaker 3: your hand how many guys have come out of there. Yeah,
- 58:10Speaker 3: that's what they're saying in team meeting rooms right now
- 58:13Speaker 3: that you circled, and it's it's a picture of frosted
- 58:15Speaker 3: tips too, it's not it's Diego.
- 58:17Speaker 1: Yeah, how many things, guys? How many teams are in
- 58:19Speaker 1: the sec and right now it looks like your guys's
- 58:23Speaker 1: power rankings in the SEC. You're you're predicted at thirteenth.
- 58:25Speaker 2: It's probably some fat guy who sits on a computer
- 58:28Speaker 2: all day.
- 58:30Speaker 1: Damn. Josh Paid is in good shape.
- 58:34Speaker 3: Josh Paid is, He's got the shoulders in the chest
- 58:36Speaker 3: on him.
- 58:39Speaker 1: So what do you think about when you see stuff
- 58:41Speaker 1: like that? Like, I know it's just noise, but when
- 58:43Speaker 1: you're at home and you're kind of going through some
- 58:44Speaker 1: of this.
- 58:44Speaker 2: Ship, I really don't. I've never seen this sight before.
- 58:48Speaker 1: What is this seven?
- 58:52Speaker 7: Now?
- 58:52Speaker 2: It's two for seven? We used to have, Uh, our
- 58:55Speaker 2: guy Barton Simmons used works for two percents, but like
- 59:00Speaker 2: I don't mistake them for it because like real players
- 59:02Speaker 2: fuck up too. So okay, let'll just find out after
- 59:06Speaker 2: Do you.
- 59:06Speaker 3: Talk to me about the sea on your chest?
- 59:09Speaker 2: The sea?
- 59:09Speaker 3: The sea captain going from the Mexico State transferter Vanderbilt.
- 59:13Speaker 3: You're earning these guys trusts. What was that process like
- 59:16Speaker 3: for you?
- 59:18Speaker 2: It was actually really dope, Like, uh, you know, taking
- 59:21Speaker 2: out the alignment to eat and stuff is, uh, is
- 59:24Speaker 2: really cool. And then you like just knowing the guys,
- 59:26Speaker 2: like everyone comes out from like a unique background and
- 59:29Speaker 2: you find out like things about these guys, like you
- 59:32Speaker 2: know some of them well now like a lot of us,
- 59:34Speaker 2: uh not us. I don't have a kid, but a
- 59:36Speaker 2: lot of them have kids and stuff, and you gotta
- 59:38Speaker 2: meet their kids and bring them around and this, like
- 59:44Speaker 2: it's just really cool to like earn their trust.
- 59:48Speaker 1: Where are we taking them? Could? Could he do better?
- 59:52Speaker 1: Could he do better? On how you treat you?
- 59:53Speaker 3: Guys?
- 59:54Speaker 2: Have you heard a mile? Yes, we went to see
- 59:58Speaker 2: good a mile. We went to see you go to
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: mile twice and then we were supposed to edit go
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: to Eddie V's this past weekend, but not a lot
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: of the guys could go.
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: So you haven't gotten these boys a little room. It
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: came prime or up up at Bourbon Steak. I'm trying
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: to work for.
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: You right now. Can I told you other schools were
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: offering me a four million, not Vandy? You said, what
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: other schools are offering me four million? Not bandy? Dude?
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: Hey legit? So we ever flirting with the idea leaving Vanderbilt?
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: No, I never flirted with it.
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: Maybe for a moment, one.
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: Moment you saw the number.
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: I mean the number. The number is great, like the
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: numbers are great, but like winning is is more important
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: to me than anything, and we get the squad to
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: go do it.
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: When you're breaking it down with your agent or whoever
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: your representation is, or you're talking with the coaches, how
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: uncomfortable does it get at times? Like you you might
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: hear the rumors are four million, and it's like, you know,
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: we're all in the game of business a little bit
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: more now, and it's like, you want to leverage the number?
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: How much should I try and leverage the number and
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: get to a spot that I feel comfortable? I don't
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: want to piss anybody off? Like how is that going
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: for you? Mentally? When you are in that process of potentially,
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: you know, them feeling like you could potentially leave.
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: Right it was? It was difficult for sure, because like
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: you got coach Kill and coach Beck like relying on
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: you to come back, and then but it's like all
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: the money game. And then like you got other schools
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: offering you four million and they don't want to pay
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: you four million, but you're like all right, but like
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: you took a chance on me, so like I understand that,
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: and then freaky OUs and say something too like, uh,
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: they they told me the things that I wanted to
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: hear of how they're gonna build the offense. You know
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: what receivers are gonna go get. And they were telling
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: me like, we could pay we could pay you that,
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: but we're not gonna have enough money to go get
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: these guys to go throw the ball around. And it
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: just made sense to me, Like, man, I value winning
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: over anything else. So how perfect?
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: How well did they do going and getting some of
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: these pieces that they were talking to you about?
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: Really good? Yeah, I guess like playing with a new
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: toy every day, you just throw the ball as far
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: as you can't you have some fast little black kid
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: to just fucking catch it.
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: Washington Post is gonna salivate over this.
- 1:02:18Speaker 3: Yeah, Washington Post, New York Times. I got him again.
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: Uh, dude, Jerry Kill, you talked about him being like
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: a father figure to you. What about Jerry Kill? Was
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: like it helps you guys connect so much, And do
- 1:02:30Speaker 3: you have like a Jerry Kill store that you're like,
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: this dude's the fucking man. Kate was telling me. He
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: offered me he was in Nevada when I was high school. No, No,
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: that was coach k coach Yeah, okay, okay, okay, okay.
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: This guy's this guy's a nut job. Like he's just
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: one of us, just the older version, you know what
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: I mean. He don't care what anyone thinks about him.
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: He don't care about anything. I would say New Mexico
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: State when he was the head coach, like he had
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: all the power in the world. Like I remember, this
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: is this story exact. We were in like a like
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: a team meeting, and after that it was like the
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: first day of fall camp. We're getting done team meeting.
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: We go out there and you know, we get done practicing.
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: This kid has a full body cramp and he's like,
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: where's the fucking trainer at And the trainer, uh didn't
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: have ivs. They couldn't give ivs for some reason in
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: Mexico State. He fired the trainer, the equipment staff, and uh,
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: like one of the board of directors at New Mexico
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: State that day. And then like he was like having
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: to do he hired basically the coaches to like serve
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: out equipment, hired uh people just to like give out
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: water and stuff. So he fired someone like on the
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: spot that day, first.
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: Day because he was catching a full body cramp. But
- 1:03:46Speaker 3: there's nowhere to say.
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: It, and there was no no one to give him
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: an IV man at least.
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: Have some pickle juice on you or something, you know,
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: But he's just anytime I hear body cramp, I just
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: think of the story of, Uh, there's a guy in
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: the locker room who just as a joke kept a
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: box of condoms in the locker, and somebody's like, hey,
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: why do you keep a box of condoms in the
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: locker And he just looked over and he goes, You
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: never know when somebody's gonna catch a full body cramp
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: and be spas on the locker room floor.
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: What the fuck?
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: Just out of the glimpse inside of the locker room, folks.
- 1:04:20Speaker 3: That is a wild story. Wild.
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: The full body crams are just awful when you reflect
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: on just your entire journey, like again, underdog story, Juco
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: route no offers, small schools, go to Vanderbilt, all of
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: this stuff you were talking about wrestling earlier, but overall,
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: like a general like a general thought, when you pull
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: yourself out, what do you feel like separate you mentally
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: in the details when you look back, whether it's playing
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: through injuries or examples you see from other guys, like
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: what things do you feel like have separated you mentally
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: to get in the spot that.
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: You're in now when I when I turn on the tape,
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: and I want people to know that I'm the you know,
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: the best person ever touched like the blade of grass,
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: Like I'm going to be the best no matter what.
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: When you turn on the table, it's like, Okay, this
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: kid right here is the best player on the football
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: team right here, both sides of the ball. And so
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: that's that's what I want. Is just not even be
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: like compared. I want to be good on it and
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: it's like one of the greats. Like I feel like
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: I have that mama mentality of three workouts a day
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: or else you like cheated yourself.
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: When you look back and think if times were extremely
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: hard and you possibly thought I'm never quitting, but where
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: you doubted yourself and everything else, Like is there a
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: moment or a phase of life that kind of stands
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: out that you fall through that you look back on
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: You're like, I'm fucking happy I pushed through that moment.
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: Yeah, Juco was hard for sure, Juco COVID. You know
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: there's only two people allowed in a dorm. Probably this big,
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: maybe even smaller if you cut this down and you
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: know it's you and your guy and it's just the struggle,
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: like you weren't able to leave, no one could see you.
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: And then those those times were tough. You're winging at
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: five am. But then like you think about it, like
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: you're you're with your brothers through the grind, so it's like, cool.
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: Who are you leaning on in like those times like
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: are you somebody who like you know, you're scrolling and
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: consuming videos, you're reading something. Is it your mom? Is
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: it your staff when you're kind of having those moments
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: of hey, I need to feel like I needed some
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: inspiration or motivation.
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: Honest truth. Uh my ex girlfriend was like, shit, she
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: don't want me bet I'm gonna go harder. And it
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: was just like I'm super serious like in juco and
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: still like to this day, Like my boy uh, my
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: boys would tell you, like it was like once I
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: got under that bar, it was like it was beef.
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: You know, obviously not with my girlfriend, but like like
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: it was like fuck, like shit, she didn't want you,
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: like take that shit personal. But that's one of the
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: reason why I go so to I.
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: Feel like the mentality of the athlete, but it's taking
- 1:07:05Speaker 3: whatever happens in your life that didn't necessarily go your way.
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: Big ways are little ways. But it's like, all right,
- 1:07:11Speaker 3: at that to the tank.
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: That's true.
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: That's how I look at it too.
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: I feel like he's got the most wrestling brain I've
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: ever seen.
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: A football player.
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: Yeah, a football player.
- 1:07:21Speaker 3: If you don't want me put a forty five.
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: She said what we were laughing about.
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: You know how those like you know how wrestlers just
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: get down and just go hard their house parties where
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: they're in their shirts off, they got the bags on.
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: They might you know, there's a few guys got their
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: girlfriends in there and they're just you know, making a
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: beer pong shot.
- 1:07:38Speaker 5: Just.
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: Just over for no reason.
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: She's got her next.
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: After everything they do, they go hard, Yeah.
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: Dashing up your boys and you start getting in an
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: over all of a sudden, your hips are back.
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: Is out to see.
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: Just before they think that takes place. Yeah, still got it.
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: I assue, how do you think he's fair in wrestling
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: right now?
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: The way a man? Probably not, But I would like
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: go down like one seventy fours I then do pretty good.
- 1:08:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: Yeah, you think you'd have been a good wrestler in
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: college yeah, but I didn't because you were were used
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: to you were a state champ, right.
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: Yeah, it was state champ my senior year. Okay, yeah,
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: but I didn't love it. Yeah, he knows some of
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: these shots. I like you Arizona. Arizona, everyone's like right
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: next to New Mexico.
- 1:08:24Speaker 3: Yeah, but it's well, I mean we can the population
- 1:08:27Speaker 3: is like more than double, and we also have like
- 1:08:30Speaker 3: a better sports state Baseball football, that's just fat. I
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: mean New Mexico.
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: We might be better at baseball.
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: Bro, like Arizona cats play ball out there. That's a
- 1:08:44Speaker 3: year round, I mean, just like New Mexico, but like
- 1:08:46Speaker 3: cats come out of there. Even hockey, now we got
- 1:08:48Speaker 3: hockey players.
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: What about wrestling? I think we might be better at
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: I think baseball, soccer.
- 1:08:54Speaker 3: I'm not very uh I could see soccer. I'm not
- 1:09:02Speaker 3: I'm not up to date on like wrestling. My wrestling
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: education comes through Will Compton. Like I see that he
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: talks about Cody and I just I've wrestled all three times.
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: I've lost every time.
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: We'll be in there watching March mad It will be
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: in there watching March Madness, and I'll have the the
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: of the wrest the years.
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: Yeah, this year, So who's your favorite wrestler?
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: Oh man? I mean honestly, I just root for the
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: boys from Nebraska, Okay, Like I knew a lot more
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: about it when when when when my brother was doing it,
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: Like when we were in college together, Like Jordan Burrows
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: was from Nebraska and he was like when Cody came
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: in as a freshman. They were the same weight, so
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: they were they were both wrestling partners and everything else.
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: Like James Green came a little bit after Cody. So
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: that generation of wrestling is when I knew it the most.
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: I don't know it as well anymore. I just enjoy
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: every year when the conference championships come on, you know
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: when they're when the National Championships are going on. The
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: n C double as. My dad took me to one,
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: me and my brother to one back when we were young,
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: when it was in Saint Louis and we got to
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: see brock lesnar senior year and you're seeing him do
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: his little jump, his jumps back and forth before he
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: goes out and beats the boy from it was he
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: was at Minnesota. The kid, the dude from Iowa beats
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: him four to two in the finals in the place
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: just he roughs.
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: Did you see Gable Stevenson loss?
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: Yes, bro insane, that's sick, insane, But like you know,
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: and it's like the head coaches of these of these
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: teams now got like Kyle Sanderson of course, Mark Manning.
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: I've always been a massive fan of him, tight end
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: with him. And you see like David Taylor getting in
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: the circle. Just seeing guys from again like that generation
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: kind of whether they're on the staff now. But as
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: far as individuals, I don't know as much about him anymore.
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: I more just support like I support the university, like
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: Nebraska the hell of a year this year, even though
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: who was at Penn State's like miles ahead of everybody.
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: So everybody always kind of competes for that second that
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: second spot, whether it's Iowa, Oklahoma State. So I just
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: kind of enjoy I just enjoy watching wrestling.
- 1:11:00Speaker 5: NA.
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: That's super dope.
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: Yeah, because you got a couple you were just talking
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: about one of your boys.
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: That's yeah, real woods. He's about to go to the
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: final X he wins this tournament, and that's this weekend.
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: If everybody listening, We're recording on Thursday, the twelfth, So
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: when this comes out, it'll be on Tuesday, so the
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: match will have already happened. But your boys, he's going
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: to compete this weekend Real Woods. Yeah, at Final X
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: in New Jersey, and if he wins, he's gonna be
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: on the Olympic Olympic team.
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: Yeah, that's sick man, So rooting for him. I hope
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: he wins. He's gonna win. He's gonna win.
- 1:11:34Speaker 3: Well, who's your fvorite wrestler?
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: I was telling him how I don't really as far
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: as like individuals now, I'm not as privy to everybody
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: who wrestles now. I'm more just like follow a lot
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: of guys back from the generation that I was kind
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: of just around how their coaches now, and I more
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: so just support the Huskers and you're always knowing about
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: Penn State and who the good teams are.
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: What about UFC favorite UFC fighter?
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: I mean our boy, we'll buy some of their boy.
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: Mike Chandler missed the O'Connor McGregor. We just watched Sean
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: O'Malley and Morob over the weekend and Morob is a psychopath.
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: Yeah, he's gonna be a cat. That's a champion for
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: a long, long time man.
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: Else do you have?
- 1:12:13Speaker 3: Who is the cat that fought week John Jones?
- 1:12:16Speaker 5: I know?
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: But John Jones is so up in the air. Is
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: he gonna Is he gonna come back two three years off?
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: Every time he fights like crazy though, like bro he is.
- 1:12:25Speaker 3: I mean, it's been said by Dan He's the goat.
- 1:12:28Speaker 3: He's a goat.
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: I'm sick that d C. Daniel Cormier never got his
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: like a legit rematch shot against him.
- 1:12:36Speaker 2: Daniel Cormier was going to beat John.
- 1:12:39Speaker 3: Maybe not, maybe not, but you would like to see
- 1:12:41Speaker 3: like a little bow tie put on that have it.
- 1:12:43Speaker 3: I'll be done.
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: But who is the PD thing came out when the
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: spect d H D?
- 1:12:53Speaker 3: John? John's the goat?
- 1:12:54Speaker 2: John is John?
- 1:12:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: John Jones is awesome, but you just never know when
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: he's gonna get in the octagon again.
- 1:12:59Speaker 2: I remember when COVID was happening in New Mexico and
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: I went back to Albuquerque and there was like riots
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: going downtown, people breaking glass doors, getting into jewelry stores.
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: John Jones went downtown, whooped a few fucker's ass and
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: put it into all that ship.
- 1:13:17Speaker 3: That's insane.
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: It was crazy.
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: Who's your outside of John Jones. Who's your favorite fighter?
- 1:13:22Speaker 4: Oh?
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: I like Amanda Nunia Is I know she's coming back.
- 1:13:29Speaker 3: Yeah, just find that girl that show?
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: Is it Kayla Harris?
- 1:13:34Speaker 3: I think so that sound that sounds about right. But
- 1:13:36Speaker 3: she put on a performance this last weekend, like she
- 1:13:38Speaker 3: was very impressive. It'll be interesting to see a man
- 1:13:41Speaker 3: in noonst taking that much time off. Essentially gets inducted
- 1:13:43Speaker 3: the Hall of Fame last International Fight Week and then
- 1:13:46Speaker 3: says so I'm gonna come back for one more. But
- 1:13:48Speaker 3: that Kaylea, if that is her name, I don't want
- 1:13:50Speaker 3: to suck it up. Her quote of being like I
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: got the belt you at the Legacy, it's put it
- 1:13:53Speaker 3: on the table. Yeah, damn, that's a bar. Yeah, that's
- 1:13:56Speaker 3: a bar realized. I mean you've been tow UFC. I
- 1:13:59Speaker 3: saw you a Madison Square regarden. Like it's electric, dude,
- 1:14:02Speaker 3: it's just being a part of it. Being around it
- 1:14:04Speaker 3: is awesome.
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: Well, how does it feel for you guys? You guys
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: are like with like Trump and stuff, like they set
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: us to the like, uh, where all the fighters were?
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: You guys were like Trump And it feels insane, like
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: they'll not be sitting there and we just look over
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: like what the fuck.
- 1:14:19Speaker 3: There's definitely a level of imposter syndrome, like we we
- 1:14:22Speaker 3: shouldn't be said this. Yeah, it really just goes down to,
- 1:14:25Speaker 3: like the relationship with Dana, and you get around these people,
- 1:14:28Speaker 3: you don't have like an asshole like you just try
- 1:14:30Speaker 3: to be as respectful as possible, but like the people
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: you get to sit next to in these fights and
- 1:14:34Speaker 3: essentially network and talk to and be around like it's
- 1:14:38Speaker 3: you're seeing extremely powerful people come under one roof.
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: Yeah, and you're just like, uh, enjoying the moment of
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: being that close to the fucking the fucking octagon.
- 1:14:47Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: Yeah, like the the you know, you hear the punches,
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: you feel the punches, you just feel the entire environment.
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: When the lights go off and it's just a spotlight
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: on the octagon. You hear the walk and you feel
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: walking around the cage. It's like you feel the breathing,
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: you see the corners going on when they give it
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: their corners. It's uh, it's sick man.
- 1:15:08Speaker 3: I'll tell you what a really cool uh situation to
- 1:15:11Speaker 3: be in is the fights at the Apex. Because the
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: Apex are these up and coming fighters that are right
- 1:15:15Speaker 3: next to the UFC facility, but it's like quiet. You
- 1:15:19Speaker 3: can hear the punches landing. You can actually hear people
- 1:15:22Speaker 3: talking when you when the fights are between rounds, you
- 1:15:25Speaker 3: can put a headset on and listen to what the
- 1:15:28Speaker 3: coaches are saying to the fighter. Yeah, what the corners
- 1:15:30Speaker 3: are talking about. Like it's a very cool, intimate setting.
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: It's awesome.
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, And it's like we're all fans of Joe
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: Rogan the podcast, but Joe Rogan the UFC commentator going
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: out there to interview. You've seen the referees that you
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: recognize because they're at every fight, Bruce Buffer doing his
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: announcements and intros. It's just it is insane being that close.
- 1:15:49Speaker 3: To And the more you're around it too, like the
- 1:15:51Speaker 3: more like people are recognizing you, like the Bruce Buffer is,
- 1:15:54Speaker 3: the Rogans and types of things where it's like, yeah,
- 1:15:56Speaker 3: we're all kind of like in one way or another
- 1:15:58Speaker 3: part of this little community now and it's just all.
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: Yeah, and you'll you like watch Bruce Buffer. I'll be
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: watching before fight since kind of just like looking over
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: and seeing like what he does, and you just see
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: how he's getting like hyped up and stretch has got
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: got like his little note cards that you see him
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: like refer to and look at, but you just see
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: him locking in like he's about to actually fight.
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: Yeah, it's cool.
- 1:16:20Speaker 3: It is awesome, dude, just to be a part of
- 1:16:22Speaker 3: all that. I mean, this last fight, we were in
- 1:16:24Speaker 3: Saint Louis at doing Anazra Bush Foreman or game. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:16:30Speaker 3: the Cardinal game. And then we get on a plane.
- 1:16:32Speaker 3: Yeah we can talk about that in a second. We
- 1:16:34Speaker 3: had on Dana's plane with him and fly to Newark,
- 1:16:38Speaker 3: and it's just like you're sitting on this plane with
- 1:16:40Speaker 3: his group of group of people, are group of people,
- 1:16:42Speaker 3: and it's just like this is this is fucking awesome?
- 1:16:45Speaker 2: Is that the life?
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: It's this.
- 1:16:48Speaker 3: There's Yeah, Dana is one of those cats too where
- 1:16:52Speaker 3: I mean, he's not a bad thing you can say
- 1:16:54Speaker 3: about if you actually know Dana person I've heard you
- 1:16:56Speaker 3: would never say one bad thing about how giving he is.
- 1:16:59Speaker 3: Like he'll into a room. I say this all the time,
- 1:17:01Speaker 3: but if whoever he knows the most, he'll talk to
- 1:17:03Speaker 3: the last, Like he walked in this room right now,
- 1:17:05Speaker 3: he'd go up to everybody first before sitting down talking
- 1:17:07Speaker 3: to me. Will and even Jack, like Jack's been around
- 1:17:10Speaker 3: him over a dozen times now, and it's like he
- 1:17:14Speaker 3: makes you feel like you are all great for us.
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: You're like, you'll have these moments, will be going on
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: and say, like you're on the plane or whatever it is,
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: or in any of these rooms and you just might
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: look over and you make out of contact with Jack
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: or something. You're just like, what the fuck is going on?
- 1:17:27Speaker 3: Because we decided to start a podcast. Yeah, like in
- 1:17:30Speaker 3: the back of some bullshit. Yeah, it's just it's crazy.
- 1:17:33Speaker 3: It always gives you a reason to have gratitude and
- 1:17:36Speaker 3: just reflect and how awesome this shit is. It's awesome, man,
- 1:17:39Speaker 3: it is cool.
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: Throughout the convo, boys, anything pop up that you want
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: to go back to with Diego.
- 1:17:47Speaker 6: One thing I wanted to ask is you'll have some
- 1:17:50Speaker 6: new tools, some new weapons this year. Who's somebody that's
- 1:17:52Speaker 6: unknown right now that you think is gonna make a
- 1:17:55Speaker 6: big name for themselves?
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: Good questions.
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: We got this new running back from New Mexico State. MK,
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: where's number twenty two? He's like that, you guys will
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: see it Saturday.
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: So MK, you played with that New Mexico.
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: I played with it when he was a fresh last year.
- 1:18:15Speaker 2: He was a freshman, and then his real names of
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: Kylin Young. But he's a freshman in New Mexico State
- 1:18:22Speaker 2: and everyone knew like that kid is he's different. Yeah,
- 1:18:25Speaker 2: and then he got his chance. He had he had
- 1:18:27Speaker 2: his kid, and then so he took a year off
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: last year and then he came this year and he
- 1:18:31Speaker 2: took it.
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: Didn't play last year.
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, he didn't play last year.
- 1:18:34Speaker 3: Oh no, ship, Yeah to have a kid, Jack, I
- 1:18:38Speaker 3: see you, I got a mic.
- 1:18:39Speaker 5: I'm not I'm I'm a Tennessee fan. We're not. I'm
- 1:18:41Speaker 5: not gonna take it there. You seem like a good dude.
- 1:18:43Speaker 5: I actually wanna give you something. I have something in
- 1:18:46Speaker 5: my car, so I'm gonna hop up the bus and
- 1:18:48Speaker 5: grab it. And it literally might be like, what the
- 1:18:50Speaker 5: fuck is this? And it's not like a gag gift.
- 1:18:52Speaker 5: I'm gonna go grab it, so pause, But it's actually
- 1:18:55Speaker 5: I think it's kind of cool, Like it's actually so
- 1:18:57Speaker 5: just give me some all right.
- 1:19:02Speaker 3: While Jack's grabbing his non gag gift that everyone thinks
- 1:19:05Speaker 3: it's gonna everyone's gonna think it's kind of cool. You
- 1:19:07Speaker 3: got one.
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: I kind of want to ask since Jack's off the bus. Yeah,
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: you guys feel like we want Vandy to be the
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: States the state squad. Yeah, but you're an intern. You
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: can't you know, don't speak less spoken Tennessee.
- 1:19:21Speaker 2: Van is gonna run Tennessee after this year, Like this
- 1:19:24Speaker 2: is gonna be the new staple of like college foot
- 1:19:27Speaker 2: what's gonna happen here at Vanderbilt?
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: Do any of you and the boys ever like talk
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: about that, Like we gotta be the fucking state school. Well,
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: we're in Nashville, Tennessee, like if we're in the music city,
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: Like we need to be the brand of Tennessee.
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: Everyone wants to come to Tennessee because of Nashville, So
- 1:19:42Speaker 2: they want to come to Nashville. So Vanderbilt and then
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: when we have like the most money in nil like
- 1:19:49Speaker 2: why not come here? So like we literally just have
- 1:19:52Speaker 2: to win this year and throughout the rest of the
- 1:19:54Speaker 2: year take care of itself.
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: You think Vandy will have the most money in the
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: game or.
- 1:19:58Speaker 2: I think we'll be up there. Yeah, but like Snashville,
- 1:20:02Speaker 2: there's a.
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: Lot of big hitters around here. Yeah, you need a
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: team to believe in.
- 1:20:05Speaker 2: Yeah, that's all they need.
- 1:20:12Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: Yeah, what's up Jack?
- 1:20:15Speaker 2: Hey, what was up with your pitch?
- 1:20:18Speaker 3: Yeah? How about that?
- 1:20:18Speaker 5: Huh?
- 1:20:20Speaker 2: Was that even a pitch?
- 1:20:21Speaker 3: No, I mean counts one oh? Right, counts one oh.
- 1:20:27Speaker 3: I've been out every single day after this podcast. You're
- 1:20:30Speaker 3: not gonna go toss the ball around a little bit.
- 1:20:33Speaker 2: I don't know. I might get like concussed or something.
- 1:20:35Speaker 2: What do you mean, flying all over?
- 1:20:37Speaker 3: Flying all over? But you got a glove and you're
- 1:20:39Speaker 3: an athlete. I know what's about New Mexico.
- 1:20:42Speaker 2: If it hits like the roof and then falls down.
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: Hits him on the head, can guess.
- 1:20:46Speaker 3: If it hits you on the head and you can
- 1:20:47Speaker 3: cuss after that, then you're not who you thought you were.
- 1:20:50Speaker 2: Okay, that's fair to say.
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: But I'll tell you, hey, you get some legal advice
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: because you can probably well, don't do that because then
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: it's on bust.
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: Yeah. No, no, I'm not doing that.
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: I was.
- 1:21:01Speaker 5: I was at a camp out and we were using
- 1:21:02Speaker 5: newspaper to start fires, and all of a sudden, I
- 1:21:05Speaker 5: see this this paper. I wish it'd have been a
- 1:21:07Speaker 5: Tennessee player because I think this would be something that's
- 1:21:09Speaker 5: super cool to get framed. I was gonna give it
- 1:21:11Speaker 5: to my friend's dad, who's a Anty fan. But since
- 1:21:14Speaker 5: you are the person in this I think it's cool.
- 1:21:16Speaker 5: You literally can throw it away. But I thought it
- 1:21:18Speaker 5: was kind of dope. But it's like positive powers through
- 1:21:20Speaker 5: all and like.
- 1:21:20Speaker 2: Just that is fucking hard.
- 1:21:22Speaker 3: So if you keep that, that is.
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: I think. I think it's better coming from a Tennesseean.
- 1:21:29Speaker 3: So look, this is We're still gonna have the rivalry.
- 1:21:32Speaker 7: But I hope the best for you and hope you
- 1:21:33Speaker 7: have a successful career.
- 1:21:34Speaker 2: So I appreciate that. I think.
- 1:21:38Speaker 3: One that's big.
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: That's big of you.
- 1:21:41Speaker 3: Which camera show this camera here?
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: That is badass. It's bigger than the game, bigger than
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: the game, one hundred.
- 1:21:59Speaker 3: Corrupt. I like question, yeah, Diego, as you know, bud
- 1:22:04Speaker 3: light is absolutely incredible and anyone would do anything for
- 1:22:08Speaker 3: a bud Light. But what's one thing Diego Pavia would
- 1:22:11Speaker 3: do anything for it? Can't say family.
- 1:22:15Speaker 2: I'd bite an ear off to win the national championship.
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: Okay, hell yeah.
- 1:22:21Speaker 3: You would, Mike Tyson. Somebody does it matter the ear? No,
- 1:22:25Speaker 3: anybody's ear. You'd bite myne ear off.
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: Would you let somebody bite your ear off for a
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: would you.
- 1:22:31Speaker 3: Let somebody cut your piece off for a national title?
- 1:22:34Speaker 2: Yes?
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: Just a ken doll?
- 1:22:37Speaker 2: Just there's surgery now, that you can work with. Yeah,
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: then Naddy's gonna be mine though.
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: Yeah, he came, he came into this question.
- 1:22:49Speaker 3: He understood this podcast.
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: He understood. Yeah, he understood. And we expect Josh Pate
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: to be talking about this.
- 1:22:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:22:56Speaker 2: Yeah, who's Josh Pate?
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: Oh my, what are you doing? Almost the brightest minded
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: in college football. Actually he's the future commissioner of college football.
- 1:23:09Speaker 2: Oh shit, he's.
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: Got Josh pad he's got a show.
- 1:23:13Speaker 2: Oh I've seen this guy.
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: Know.
- 1:23:15Speaker 2: His name is Josh Pate.
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: Very put together, ripped, well spoken. Definitely, wear's true classic
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: bright mind. He loves you.
- 1:23:24Speaker 2: He gave us the rank on two fourth seven at thirteen.
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: No, that was a joke. I was just throwing that
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: out there. He didn't actually write that one. I don't
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: know where he has you.
- 1:23:31Speaker 2: That's in Wikipedia shit right there.
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: Well, twenty four seven did write that article. I just
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: he doesn't work for twenty four to seven. Oh okay,
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: he's got his own lane, he's got his own thing going.
- 1:23:39Speaker 2: Hey my bad, Josh pap.
- 1:23:42Speaker 3: Let's give a right a fas for Digo Papa.
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: Hey, I have one more question. Throughout this last year,
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: the run that you did have. What was like you know,
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: being a being a fan of the sport growing up
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: and everything else, what was like the coolest thing you
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: got to do? But there's going somebody show or I'm like, man,
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: this is fucking this is.
- 1:24:02Speaker 2: The best thing is hanging out with theo Von. That
- 1:24:04Speaker 2: guy's a fucking nut job. He's hilarious.
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: Where did you get to hang with him?
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: So after the bandwa game.
- 1:24:12Speaker 3: That night?
- 1:24:13Speaker 2: No, no, no, not that night, but like a few
- 1:24:16Speaker 2: like a week after or something, we went and I
- 1:24:19Speaker 2: took a few of the boys and we went and
- 1:24:21Speaker 2: just got some ice cream and that guy's yeahs on
- 1:24:29Speaker 2: the yea choc, the fudg brownie guy. But anyway, like
- 1:24:32Speaker 2: I was like, bro, he was like the coolest person,
- 1:24:35Speaker 2: like he had like he was my best friend for
- 1:24:37Speaker 2: like forty years, you know what I mean.
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: And so.
- 1:24:41Speaker 2: But that that's really cool that I get to hang
- 1:24:43Speaker 2: out with that guy.
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: Yeah, he's a monster. Yeah did you go to one
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: of his shows or something you just saw him out about?
- 1:24:48Speaker 5: No?
- 1:24:48Speaker 2: I haven't got the chance to. Yeah, but like I
- 1:24:52Speaker 2: get to see a show every day, like he's every
- 1:24:54Speaker 2: time I hang out with him. It's like fucking holy shit,
- 1:24:56Speaker 2: this guy is naturally funny, like he belongs to do comedy.
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: Yeah, dude, he is a He's hilarious, especially like in person,
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: hanging around just the way his brain operates and thinks
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: on his feet and everything else. He just comes up
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: with the craziest ship.
- 1:25:09Speaker 2: I think. I think we're like I was gonna say
- 1:25:14Speaker 2: good together, but like that sounds fucking gay, but like
- 1:25:17Speaker 2: hang out, hang out because like he just says whatever
- 1:25:20Speaker 2: is on his mind, and then I say, whatever's on
- 1:25:22Speaker 2: my mind, you know what I mean. It's just it's
- 1:25:24Speaker 2: just like fucking nut jobs at it. Yeah, it gives
- 1:25:27Speaker 2: me a great couple, Taylor.
- 1:25:29Speaker 3: Right, think about taxes, right, think about taxes? Yeah, I
- 1:25:34Speaker 3: could say money joint household income.
- 1:25:37Speaker 2: What is wrong with you too? You guys got going
- 1:25:41Speaker 2: on as if.
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: You think about it, right, Yeah, just trying to build
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: on his story.
- 1:25:45Speaker 3: It's a business decision. Yeah, let's pronounce your juck, Larry,
- 1:25:49Speaker 3: you go what you have?
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: You hooked him up with the Pavia jersey Yet.
- 1:25:53Speaker 2: I was actually, uh so what happened with the Pavia
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: jerseys is like, uh yeah, they all sold and then
- 1:26:00Speaker 2: like they stopped making him after the season, So I
- 1:26:02Speaker 2: can't even buy any right now.
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: You can't even get your own jerseys.
- 1:26:05Speaker 2: I can't get out on jersey right now, but we
- 1:26:07Speaker 2: need them for the shop. Yeah, so listen to this.
- 1:26:09Speaker 3: When you guys beat Alabama again, your words, our wurds
- 1:26:16Speaker 3: you bring put in the shop, we'll frame it.
- 1:26:18Speaker 2: You got my word game?
- 1:26:22Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what we just said, right whoa? I mean
- 1:26:25Speaker 3: you sound like you're okay with just letting whoever?
- 1:26:28Speaker 2: Whoa? Did you not hear the price tag?
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: I'll take that. Yeah.
- 1:26:34Speaker 5: But before it's all said and done, I gotta give
- 1:26:36Speaker 5: a shout to my boy, Luke Passen, a huge, vanniable fan.
- 1:26:39Speaker 5: When you guys beat Alabama, they always take like a
- 1:26:41Speaker 5: boy's golf trip, and he got he does. He's not
- 1:26:44Speaker 5: a big part of your drinker. He actually just had
- 1:26:46Speaker 5: a kid three weeks ago, So shout out to Joey
- 1:26:48Speaker 5: his new daughter. But he made a drunken bet saying
- 1:26:51Speaker 5: that if Bama loses, he would buy all of his
- 1:26:53Speaker 5: boys Diego Pavia jerseys. He gets blacked out, wakes up
- 1:26:57Speaker 5: the next morning, and Bama loss, and so he had
- 1:27:00Speaker 5: and his buddies while he's passed out, literally tapped in.
- 1:27:03Speaker 5: He has credit card connected and bought thirteen hundred dollars
- 1:27:06Speaker 5: worth of jerseys.
- 1:27:07Speaker 3: And they all sent them.
- 1:27:09Speaker 5: And then three of the guys, though, are big dudes,
- 1:27:11Speaker 5: and they only got excel. So three of the dudes,
- 1:27:14Speaker 5: they don't even fit the jerseys. So maybe I can
- 1:27:16Speaker 5: sneak one of those jerseys for us.
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: I'll tap in.
- 1:27:19Speaker 3: But I had to shout my boy, yeah, I like that.
- 1:27:21Speaker 3: Thirteen hundred, which is the first Czech diego Pavi got
- 1:27:26Speaker 3: in is n al deal for New Mexico state.
