- 0:48SPEAKER_01: Hey everyone, welcome back to the Beyond Limits podcast.
- 0:51SPEAKER_01: Today we are diving into why some people seem to grow, expand fast, and other people inch along.
- 0:59SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 1:00SPEAKER_01: And you may have noticed this, probably have, right?
- 1:03SPEAKER_01: Two people want the same change.
- 1:05SPEAKER_01: One person, right, inches forward for years, the other one seems to leap almost overnight.
- 1:11SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: And it's easy to tell yourself a story that, you know, they're just lucky.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: They're more this.
- 1:19SPEAKER_01: That's because they have X, right?
- 1:22SPEAKER_01: They're built differently, but that's not what's happening.
- 1:25SPEAKER_01: The difference between leaping and inching, it's not effort, it's identity integration in your nervous system.
- 1:31SPEAKER_01: So that is what we are diving into today.
- 1:34SPEAKER_01: So behavior is very easy to change in the short term, right?
- 1:37SPEAKER_01: You can force new routines, you can override habits, right?
- 1:41SPEAKER_01: You can like push your way through discipline.
- 1:44SPEAKER_01: That's very top-down control, right?
- 1:46SPEAKER_01: But top-down control is exhausting.
- 1:49SPEAKER_01: That's why it feels exhausting when you're forcing like a new routine or habit or outcome.
- 1:54SPEAKER_01: The nervous system always wins, right?
- 1:56SPEAKER_01: It always reclaims authority.
- 1:59SPEAKER_01: So when the identity hasn't updated, the behavior will eventually collapse, right?
- 2:04SPEAKER_01: Not because you failed, but because the brain prioritizes coherence over progress.
- 2:08SPEAKER_01: So we've talked about before in previous episodes, right?
- 2:11SPEAKER_01: How your identity is stored in your default mode network, right?
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: The DMN that governs who you believe yourself to be, what feels normal, what behaviors feel like you, and what feels effortful versus automatic.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: And so you will notice if your identity is a match, because you can ask yourself, does this feel like effort or does this feel automatic?
- 2:32SPEAKER_01: If it feels like effort, you know that the identity isn't locked in.
- 2:37SPEAKER_01: If you are doing that automatically, you know the identity is locked in.
- 2:41SPEAKER_01: And this is powerful because if you are trying to be that woman, if you have to try or effort towards that identity, it's actually not locked in.
- 2:50SPEAKER_01: Versus if you automatically behave as her, you'll know that your nervous system has then updated, where that is your default mode.
- 2:56SPEAKER_01: And so it becomes automatic.
- 2:59SPEAKER_01: If the default mode hasn't updated, your nervous system keeps referencing that old self.
- 3:04SPEAKER_01: And that is when things are going to feel heavy.
- 3:06SPEAKER_01: That is when change will feel slow.
- 3:08SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 3:08SPEAKER_01: So what that leap actually is, is a leap isn't fast behavior.
- 3:13SPEAKER_01: It's a fast identity update, right?
- 3:15SPEAKER_01: When identity integrates, behavior reorganizes instantly.
- 3:19SPEAKER_01: I've seen this day after day with the thousands of women I work with, I've seen this in myself.
- 3:24SPEAKER_01: You notice that you automatically behave different.
- 3:26SPEAKER_01: I think about a client who was messaging me on Telegram the other day.
- 3:29SPEAKER_01: She's like, I notice afterwards that I responded to this situation completely different.
- 3:35SPEAKER_01: Why?
- 3:35SPEAKER_01: Because we upgraded and integrated her new identity.
- 3:40SPEAKER_01: You don't need more motivation, you don't need accountability, you don't need force, you need a new behavior that feels obvious.
- 3:47SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 3:47SPEAKER_01: And that's why it looks like a sudden leap from the outside.
- 3:50SPEAKER_01: So why do most people get stuck in inching along versus other people seem to leap and keep leaping?
- 3:56SPEAKER_01: Inching happens, right, when behavior changes, but the nervous system still feels unsafe, unfamiliar, or simply unconvinced, right?
- 4:05SPEAKER_01: It's like, uh, I'm not quite sure I believe that to be true fully yet.
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: Like maybe I kind of do, but I'm still somewhat looking for proof, or I'm still somewhat looking for confirmation.
- 4:16SPEAKER_01: So let's just keep this in like the pending file for now.
- 4:20SPEAKER_01: So your system resists that change, right?
- 4:23SPEAKER_01: Trying becomes that dominant state.
- 4:25SPEAKER_01: And trying is not a virtue.
- 4:27SPEAKER_01: If you have to try anywhere, if it's like, oh, I'm I'm trying to be that woman, I'm trying to do this thing, notice in your language, even when you're thinking or saying that, it's a signal of misalignment.
- 4:38SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 4:38SPEAKER_01: If you want to keep the leap, you need to stop asking how to do more and start asking what identity your nervous system has actually accepted as real.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 4:48SPEAKER_01: Because leap don't come from force, they come from integration.
- 4:52SPEAKER_01: And this is a very powerful question because when you start asking yourself, where am I trying to be that woman versus where am I noticing if it's automatic, you'll see that gap and you can close it.
- 5:02SPEAKER_01: But what most women do, right, is when they're trying to be that woman and they can see the identity has not upgraded, right?
- 5:09SPEAKER_01: In the default mode, they try harder and they get more exhausted and they try harder and get more exhausted and try harder.
- 5:16SPEAKER_01: And eventually that learns leads to burnout, right?
- 5:18SPEAKER_01: It leads to collapse because there's only so much effort or trying you can do.
- 5:23SPEAKER_01: And then it's like, oh lamb, I don't want to have to try so hard.
- 5:26SPEAKER_01: I don't want to have to push.
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: So it's not only that you're in that trying mode right now, but you're trying and then realizing that you're not getting the proof result that you want and trying harder.
- 5:37SPEAKER_01: And you have to push against it versus letting it actually in and embodying that identity at a default mode, where then it becomes automatic.
- 5:47SPEAKER_01: This shift alone explains why some people leap versus some people inch.
- 5:53SPEAKER_01: And if you can move from the the trying, the pushing, the forcing, and then reinforcing that time and time again because you're you're trying and trying and trying and pushing versus allowing them something to become automatic, you will then become someone who leaps instead of inches forward.
- 6:09SPEAKER_01: So I know this was a short, meanie episode, but this is such a powerful question that if you can continue to ask yourself, am I trying or is it embodied and is it automatic?
- 6:18SPEAKER_01: We'll allow you to be the woman who keeps leaping forward.
- 6:21SPEAKER_01: And I will see you guys in the next episode.
- 6:23SPEAKER_01: Bye.
