- 0:06Speaker 1: Welcome to the Favorites. I'm Chad Mollman of the Action
- 0:09Speaker 1: Network and this is the part lay episode of the
- 0:14Speaker 1: Favorite Sunday Night Football is on. We've finished most of
- 0:17Speaker 1: the second week of the NFL all of week three
- 0:19Speaker 1: of college football. Together with Paul Laduka, four time All
- 0:24Speaker 1: Star Major League Baseball analysts for the Action Network, and
- 0:28Speaker 1: Jeff Schwartz, eight years in the NFL as an offensive lineman,
- 0:32Speaker 1: the three of us are going to give you your
- 0:34Speaker 1: first look at how to gamble in the week ahead.
- 0:38Speaker 1: PAULI how you doing, Buddy? I need to hug Chad Well,
- 0:43Speaker 1: I am here to give you. Give you one. Laughing
- 0:46Speaker 1: at the other end of the line, Jeff Schwartz, who,
- 0:49Speaker 1: by the way, deserves all the credit in the world. Jeff,
- 0:53Speaker 1: tell us about your circumstances and how you are calling
- 0:56Speaker 1: into the podcast right now. Yeah. So, her in Florence
- 1:00Speaker 1: is out here in North Carolina. We did not get
- 1:02Speaker 1: hit with anything close to what the coast had, but
- 1:05Speaker 1: I'm in Charlotte and we've probably gotten ten to twelve
- 1:09Speaker 1: inches of rain in the last twenty four hours and
- 1:11Speaker 1: actually has stopped raining. But the power has been out
- 1:13Speaker 1: of my house since we're taking us at nine pm,
- 1:16Speaker 1: probably about midnight last time. We've got a text message
- 1:19Speaker 1: from the power company and so we still have no power.
- 1:22Speaker 1: I'm sitting at my island at my kitchen watching the
- 1:25Speaker 1: send a football game on my iPad and there's three
- 1:28Speaker 1: candles that are on and might have a flashtar just
- 1:30Speaker 1: in case anyone gets crazy, and hopefully it will beyond soon.
- 1:33Speaker 1: They start really and tweet this out too. It's not
- 1:36Speaker 1: great the power out of that. That's bothering. Like we
- 1:37Speaker 1: were prepared for us. We were all ready to go.
- 1:39Speaker 1: We we had food this morning. We cooked them in
- 1:41Speaker 1: green agg as soon as I woke up. We had
- 1:43Speaker 1: food for the day. We're ready to go. But it's
- 1:45Speaker 1: not like I could throw like a stone to like
- 1:48Speaker 1: a house that has power, not even with a backup generator,
- 1:51Speaker 1: just like that block has power. And that is what
- 1:53Speaker 1: pisses me off or anything else. Listen, you're too professional,
- 1:58Speaker 1: and I appreciate it, and I totally totally get it.
- 2:02Speaker 1: That is the bully for them, But boy, that sucks
- 2:06Speaker 1: for you. Yes, and it's if the Giants and undercover tonight.
- 2:11Speaker 1: I feel a lot better because um, I put a
- 2:14Speaker 1: lot of units on a lot of games special college
- 2:16Speaker 1: football and just did not happen. So this it would
- 2:19Speaker 1: make me feel better if I could sit in the
- 2:20Speaker 1: dark and watch the Giants cover and there not be
- 2:23Speaker 1: a lot of points scored. We're getting close to that,
- 2:25Speaker 1: but I hope we can consist in the night. I
- 2:28Speaker 1: won't know. We can start the week off really starting
- 2:30Speaker 1: with our plays for week three. Well, here's that's a
- 2:32Speaker 1: great transition, Jeff, because in case people don't remember how
- 2:35Speaker 1: the show works from episode one, the three of us
- 2:38Speaker 1: are each going to come up with three picks that
- 2:40Speaker 1: we love from college football in the NFL. But it
- 2:42Speaker 1: couldn't really be anything over the next week. They had
- 2:44Speaker 1: to used to give people an idea of what to
- 2:46Speaker 1: preview for the next week. In gambling, right, it's gonna
- 2:49Speaker 1: be a nine team parlay. We're gonna put down sixty dollars.
- 2:52Speaker 1: It pays off twenty thousand dollars. All right, any one
- 2:57Speaker 1: of us can throw a challenge on one of our picks. Uh.
- 3:00Speaker 1: If one of us loses on the other's behalf, there
- 3:04Speaker 1: will be very much of disappointed people. I can tell
- 3:06Speaker 1: you that right now. Um, I want to review for
- 3:09Speaker 1: a minute, because we had a poll that went out
- 3:12Speaker 1: on Twitter, on at the Favorites pod, and on Twitter
- 3:16Speaker 1: asking people to vote on who had the best picks
- 3:21Speaker 1: last week. Chad had the Jaguars plus one and a half,
- 3:25Speaker 1: the Chiefs plus five, b y U plus twenty three. Huh,
- 3:29Speaker 1: what do you know? Those three cover death? That's interesting.
- 3:33Speaker 1: I didn't even know that was that was gonna be
- 3:34Speaker 1: the result when I read those. Uh. Jeff Schwartz had
- 3:37Speaker 1: the Giants plus three. We'll see what happens with that
- 3:39Speaker 1: because we're taping in the middle. The Eagles minus three
- 3:41Speaker 1: a loss, Arizona State minus three and a half a loss.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Paul Duca had Missouri minus seven a loss, University of
- 3:49Speaker 1: New Mexico, which he convinces all to go in on
- 3:51Speaker 1: in one, and the Chargers Buffalo under forty four. He lost.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Milman Millman went three and Oh, Milman were the Sharp
- 4:03Speaker 1: as a shared person In your last name Milman Noman
- 4:06Speaker 1: talks about Milman as a sharp, the Millie Monster as
- 4:12Speaker 1: they call me, And the other episode of the Favorites
- 4:14Speaker 1: that I did with black Jack Georgina, Georgina Georgina calls
- 4:19Speaker 1: me the Millie Monster. You left Luduke. You'll have to
- 4:22Speaker 1: listen to the other podcast. I know, like you're only
- 4:25Speaker 1: gonna listen to what the one you're doing, but listen
- 4:27Speaker 1: to other ones and you'll you'll come to appreciate Georgina. Well,
- 4:31Speaker 1: you know I did. I listened to your podcast two
- 4:34Speaker 1: weeks ago and you're on tilt. And then last week
- 4:36Speaker 1: you were just felt like you were falling asleep. And
- 4:39Speaker 1: you know what, now you know what the secret to
- 4:41Speaker 1: your successes. You were relaxed. Yeah, the beginning of the
- 4:46Speaker 1: podcast last week you were so angry. You made angry selections.
- 4:51Speaker 1: But I don't know how to like sort of state
- 4:53Speaker 1: that you're the Giants rattled you so much last week
- 4:57Speaker 1: that you beared down a little bit, so hopefully schwartzy.
- 5:00Speaker 1: I I'm gonna tell you right now. The Missouri Tigers,
- 5:06Speaker 1: they they they befuddled me a little bit on Saturday. Yeah,
- 5:10Speaker 1: and they're gonna make me bear down this week. They've
- 5:12Speaker 1: befuddled me. They should produce through for almost six hundred
- 5:18Speaker 1: yards and Missouri should have covered the game. How about
- 5:22Speaker 1: Missouri had the ball on the goal line, first in
- 5:26Speaker 1: goal and decided to take a kneel and and Purdue
- 5:31Speaker 1: should just let him walk in for the for the
- 5:34Speaker 1: at least the tie, and they were NA seven and
- 5:37Speaker 1: Producer decided to play defense and let them kick the
- 5:40Speaker 1: field goal. It was just one of those games. Listen,
- 5:44Speaker 1: if it's going to make you be a better better
- 5:46Speaker 1: this week, I'm all for it. Okay? Uh, Three things
- 5:50Speaker 1: I want to discuss from today's games, because and they're
- 5:53Speaker 1: all tied together. Number one, what do we do with
- 5:57Speaker 1: the Bucks? Like Jeff Schwartz, you've been in NFL locker rooms,
- 6:03Speaker 1: Ryan Fitzpatrick is playing like a man renewed. What happens
- 6:08Speaker 1: when Jameis Winston comes back? Is this team? Is this
- 6:12Speaker 1: team talented? Is this team playing better than it should?
- 6:16Speaker 1: Answer all of those questions at once? Well, okay, so
- 6:21Speaker 1: the deep plays are what I visited them to have
- 6:24Speaker 1: that happened last year. Right. They have Mike Evans the
- 6:26Speaker 1: San Jackson as a home bow threat and O. J.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Howard and today they hit up to seventy five yeard touchdowns,
- 6:31Speaker 1: which is really abnormal in a balding him on two
- 6:33Speaker 1: of those, and they obviously beat the Eagles by six.
- 6:36Speaker 1: They're not running the ball terribly well. They drafted Ronald
- 6:38Speaker 1: Jokeesph the US the second round. He's not even playing
- 6:40Speaker 1: right now. He's inactive every week just for nineven injury,
- 6:44Speaker 1: just just it's a healthy scratch and active. So I
- 6:47Speaker 1: don't know if we can totally buy campic call yet
- 6:49Speaker 1: they still have the same issues rushing the passer um
- 6:53Speaker 1: the Eagles to me, and I picked them minus three.
- 6:55Speaker 1: I thought they're just they're just better all around the camp,
- 6:58Speaker 1: especially at the line of scrimm. Um. I don't think
- 7:02Speaker 1: we could buy Tampa quite yet, just because, um, these
- 7:06Speaker 1: home runs are not something that you can rely on
- 7:09Speaker 1: throughout the season. You can't build the offense in my
- 7:11Speaker 1: opinion on and I hope we hit a home run
- 7:13Speaker 1: of three home runs this week. You have to build
- 7:15Speaker 1: yourself on consistency, and I don't know if we're gonna
- 7:18Speaker 1: get that from Ryan Fitzpatrick the whole season. To your
- 7:20Speaker 1: to your question about Jameis Winston when he comes back, well,
- 7:22Speaker 1: the first week he's back to have a short week.
- 7:24Speaker 1: They play on Thursday, so I don't think he plays
- 7:26Speaker 1: that week. But the future of that franchise is fitzpa
- 7:32Speaker 1: is Jamis Winston. And this is the I think the
- 7:34Speaker 1: quandary that the Browns are into. And I think we'll
- 7:36Speaker 1: talk about them in a second is you know, bigger
- 7:39Speaker 1: mayfields the future, but Tyronne might give him like tour
- 7:41Speaker 1: of a chance to win now and what do you
- 7:43Speaker 1: do to save your job? And dirt cut of their
- 7:45Speaker 1: coaches trying to save his job. And so that might
- 7:47Speaker 1: be playing Fitzpatrick longer to get more victories, but it
- 7:51Speaker 1: really stunts the growth of the future of your franchise,
- 7:53Speaker 1: which is Jameis Winston. So how do players feel about
- 7:56Speaker 1: that when that happens. Um, it's a good question. I
- 8:00Speaker 1: have been in a couple of situations like that. I've
- 8:02Speaker 1: always wanted to play like the guy who's better at
- 8:04Speaker 1: the moment, because I want to win football games. You know,
- 8:06Speaker 1: a lot of us don't think about long term because
- 8:09Speaker 1: we're not there long term. We don't a lot of
- 8:11Speaker 1: us don't have long term contracts, or if we do,
- 8:13Speaker 1: we know that the guaranteed money is only such. You know,
- 8:15Speaker 1: for two years. I remember and in two thousand and
- 8:18Speaker 1: eleven we had Matt Moore and Jimmy Claus. Now, Jimmy
- 8:20Speaker 1: Colston wasn't any good, so it made the decision a
- 8:22Speaker 1: little bit easier. But you know, Matt Moore was was
- 8:25Speaker 1: playing average. He was playing well, and we wanted him
- 8:27Speaker 1: to play because he gives us the best chance to win.
- 8:30Speaker 1: And as soon as they could find a way to
- 8:32Speaker 1: take them out, they took him out of the game
- 8:33Speaker 1: and put in Jimmy Classon, who was an under disaster.
- 8:35Speaker 1: We were back to Matt More. He heard his collar
- 8:38Speaker 1: bone and that was the end of that more. Um.
- 8:41Speaker 1: But like we just the guys will want to play
- 8:45Speaker 1: the best guy to help them win now, um, and
- 8:47Speaker 1: especially on that team with older players like a Mike
- 8:50Speaker 1: Evans or look at the son of Jackson. Don't want
- 8:52Speaker 1: the guy to give the ball and score a lot
- 8:54Speaker 1: of points. All right. So you mentioned to Rod Taylor
- 8:57Speaker 1: and the Browns, Uh is their defense for real? Is
- 9:01Speaker 1: that something we can count on? And and sort of
- 9:03Speaker 1: there is a a gambling lens for all this, which
- 9:06Speaker 1: is we're now two weeks in and we've seen the
- 9:09Speaker 1: Bucks offense be consistently explosive, and we've seen the Browns
- 9:12Speaker 1: defense be consistently good. Yes, they were. They were excellent
- 9:17Speaker 1: runs defense. Last year. I talked to an offensive line
- 9:20Speaker 1: coach of a team that was playing them. Um uh
- 9:23Speaker 1: last year he said, did you need to watch their film?
- 9:26Speaker 1: And you need to like write about it because what
- 9:28Speaker 1: they're doing is really unique. They basically said last year,
- 9:31Speaker 1: screw it, We're not going to care at all about
- 9:34Speaker 1: um about stopping the past. We're gonna stop the run.
- 9:37Speaker 1: And they did that. And this year you add in,
- 9:39Speaker 1: you know, a healthy Miles Garrett Um you have who
- 9:43Speaker 1: has been a monster. Their past rush interior was awesome today.
- 9:47Speaker 1: And you add in denzil Or who you drafted in
- 9:49Speaker 1: the first round, and now they can stop the pass
- 9:51Speaker 1: a little bit. Their defense is legit. If they could
- 9:53Speaker 1: just please play thinker may feel please, Harold Taylor is
- 9:58Speaker 1: not helping you win football games. I know that that
- 10:00Speaker 1: played today the end of the game. I mean, the Saints,
- 10:02Speaker 1: come on, guys, like you've done this now to two
- 10:04Speaker 1: years in a row. We can't play defense at the
- 10:07Speaker 1: end of game. So I think the Brown's defense is
- 10:09Speaker 1: for real, all right? Last question, last question to review
- 10:14Speaker 1: Week two in the NFL. Vante Davis apparently retired in
- 10:21Speaker 1: the middle of the game. That's how bad the Bills are.
- 10:24Speaker 1: And I listen, I was on the Bills bandwagon today.
- 10:27Speaker 1: I was also on the Cardinals bandwagon today in addition
- 10:30Speaker 1: to being on the Jacks. But Jeff as our resident
- 10:36Speaker 1: NFL literal insider. What the freak man? Or is? They
- 10:41Speaker 1: say in the good place? What the four? Um? That
- 10:45Speaker 1: was incredible. Um. I always say this, if are if
- 10:49Speaker 1: you are not willing and able to play this game,
- 10:53Speaker 1: don't do it. And look we're down from you because um,
- 10:57Speaker 1: well I'm just I'm done with it, like I can't
- 10:59Speaker 1: do me more, I can't play anymore. And he just
- 11:02Speaker 1: Paul he ever had a picture they have at thatt
- 11:05Speaker 1: and just retire in the middle of the season. Um.
- 11:08Speaker 1: I've had a couple of guys in the minor leagues
- 11:10Speaker 1: do it just because they just didn't never had a chance.
- 11:12Speaker 1: I've had one guy in the big leagues. It was
- 11:14Speaker 1: Tyler Houston, and um it was because of Davy Johnson.
- 11:19Speaker 1: I'll never forget it. Two thousand and eight. It was
- 11:22Speaker 1: the last game of the season and he had an
- 11:25Speaker 1: incentive where if he got over a hundred he was
- 11:28Speaker 1: a pinch hitter. If you had over a hundred and
- 11:29Speaker 1: fifty at bats or something to that aspect, he would
- 11:32Speaker 1: get a fifty tho bonus in his contract. And he
- 11:35Speaker 1: had a hundred and forty eight at bats. So I
- 11:40Speaker 1: remember the day the night night before he was saying,
- 11:42Speaker 1: I'm gonna swing it everything. Well, the last day, it
- 11:45Speaker 1: obviously came from management. It was the last day he
- 11:47Speaker 1: did not start, so he dressed in street clothes, shook
- 11:51Speaker 1: everybody's hand in the third hitting and said, night nine,
- 11:54Speaker 1: I'm retiring. So the Dodgers decided not to play him
- 11:58Speaker 1: that day and give him his fifty an our bonus,
- 12:00Speaker 1: which happens a lot and the other sports. And he
- 12:03Speaker 1: decided to shower in the third inning and left. Wow,
- 12:09Speaker 1: what did you think of that? Were you like good
- 12:11Speaker 1: for him? Or were you like, yeah, yeah, it was
- 12:14Speaker 1: good for him, because you know what, as players, you're
- 12:16Speaker 1: all for the player. Um Ty was a guy we
- 12:19Speaker 1: picked up midway through the season and he we didn't
- 12:22Speaker 1: make the playoffs. He was sort of sort of supposed
- 12:26Speaker 1: to be our playoff guy or playoff push, and then
- 12:29Speaker 1: the last five games of the year we sort of
- 12:31Speaker 1: like ran out of gas and then we were out
- 12:32Speaker 1: of the race. So play the guy, get him as
- 12:35Speaker 1: at bats. But I felt bad for for the manager
- 12:39Speaker 1: because it came from from upstairs. What ends up happening
- 12:42Speaker 1: in those kind of situations, Teams don't want to dump
- 12:45Speaker 1: a hundred hundred thousand if their team is not going
- 12:47Speaker 1: to make the playoffs. So they pay attention to how
- 12:50Speaker 1: many games you caught, how many games you played. I
- 12:53Speaker 1: remember Gary Sheffield one deer one year told me how
- 12:57Speaker 1: much do I how much is my insensive games played?
- 13:00Speaker 1: I said, it's twenty five thousand for fifty games. He goes,
- 13:02Speaker 1: don't worry, you'll get it. I go, what are you
- 13:04Speaker 1: talking about? It's like, don't worry. So I started taking
- 13:07Speaker 1: fly balls in left field. He got me fifteen appearances
- 13:10Speaker 1: in left field just by saying, hey, skip the la
- 13:14Speaker 1: duke and left I'm sore, we're down, we're up ten one,
- 13:18Speaker 1: and he got me in my bonus. No way, that's
- 13:21Speaker 1: the true story. Shot. I always love Gary Sheffield for that,
- 13:24Speaker 1: but I played it probably if you look, I want
- 13:27Speaker 1: to say it's um in two thousand or ninety nine,
- 13:31Speaker 1: and one of those years I had like fifteen and
- 13:33Speaker 1: seventeen appearances in left field where I played an ending
- 13:35Speaker 1: or less. We we had a we had a we
- 13:40Speaker 1: had a d end offer one of our left tackles.
- 13:42Speaker 1: A bonus. A part of his bonus that he allowed
- 13:45Speaker 1: him a sack like the end of the season he
- 13:47Speaker 1: had won more sacks, like to get his like like
- 13:49Speaker 1: a million dollar bonus, some crazy number. He's like, dude,
- 13:52Speaker 1: let me get the sackle. You know, I'll let you
- 13:53Speaker 1: hold like fifty thousand something crazy number like that. It
- 13:56Speaker 1: was really funny way he did it. But yeah, yeah,
- 14:00Speaker 1: he didn't give up the sack on purpose. So yeah,
- 14:02Speaker 1: he's like, you need to bonus. So he's like, I'll
- 14:05Speaker 1: let your hold Steffy. Now who now, who would know
- 14:06Speaker 1: if he actually would have paid him or not if
- 14:08Speaker 1: he did it, But no, he of course he didn't
- 14:09Speaker 1: do on purpose. You can let the sack about purpose?
- 14:12Speaker 1: Did the guy get the sack? Uh? No, he didn't
- 14:15Speaker 1: get a sack that game. Screw him. Yeah, screw those guys.
- 14:21Speaker 1: All right, speaking of money, it's time to let the
- 14:24Speaker 1: show go on. We got to get together and pick
- 14:27Speaker 1: nine games that we love so we can go win
- 14:31Speaker 1: twenty thousand dollars. It didn't happen for the first week,
- 14:35Speaker 1: fellas um, And it didn't happen because you guys both
- 14:38Speaker 1: sucked and so um. You know what, you guys are athletes.
- 14:43Speaker 1: You made it to the highest levels of your profession.
- 14:46Speaker 1: There's like a less than one percent chance for either
- 14:50Speaker 1: of you to get for anybody to get the level
- 14:53Speaker 1: you got to. Yet I'm the one, Listen, I'm the
- 14:58Speaker 1: one who like went three and o the first week.
- 15:00Speaker 1: I'm the only one keeping us alive right now. I'm
- 15:03Speaker 1: the only one trying to get us that condo in
- 15:06Speaker 1: Vista when we can all live in together. Okay, Jess,
- 15:11Speaker 1: you do it. You start the show, buddy. You know
- 15:15Speaker 1: something that that I spoke to you about when we
- 15:17Speaker 1: started working together, It's like, how would it be like
- 15:19Speaker 1: my football instincts go with gambling, because obviously that's something
- 15:24Speaker 1: that's that's something that's unique. Is you know, do you
- 15:27Speaker 1: how much do you look at like where you know
- 15:29Speaker 1: the square play versus starter play versus what I thinks
- 15:32Speaker 1: can happen on the field. Um, and so when you
- 15:34Speaker 1: look at these at these lines, Cincinnati is still not
- 15:38Speaker 1: a sexy pick. Like people are still not respecting and
- 15:41Speaker 1: they're they're they're now to know they're getting three points.
- 15:43Speaker 1: It was three and a half. It's pore you bent
- 15:45Speaker 1: down to three right now. At Carolina, you have the Panthers,
- 15:48Speaker 1: a team that is out there. They're they're tight end
- 15:51Speaker 1: still both tackles. They played a guy at left tackle
- 15:54Speaker 1: today who they signed on Tuesday. That's not really ideal.
- 15:57Speaker 1: The offense is still not getting really anywhere. With Kim Newton.
- 16:00Speaker 1: That you went to Atlanta, they didn't play very well,
- 16:02Speaker 1: and look, they didn't terribly play well when we got
- 16:04Speaker 1: the Cowboys, where we played awful. So now you Sincinnati
- 16:07Speaker 1: plus three, a team who's two and though who's playing
- 16:10Speaker 1: really well right now, they look like a playoff team,
- 16:12Speaker 1: look like the team um there's still ged no respect
- 16:15Speaker 1: and so I think this is a great play at
- 16:18Speaker 1: plus three on Sunday. What do you think about that,
- 16:22Speaker 1: Paula Duca, You know, I don't mind it. It's a
- 16:25Speaker 1: bold pick, right, I mean, I would think the public
- 16:27Speaker 1: is gonna be on Carolina. He's sort of right. It
- 16:30Speaker 1: seems like Marvin Lewis has been on the hot seat
- 16:33Speaker 1: since I was born, and it seems like they're just
- 16:37Speaker 1: finally going in the wrong direction. And finally I think
- 16:40Speaker 1: he hit the nail on the head there under the radar.
- 16:43Speaker 1: This whole Levyan Bell thing with Pittsburgh is Cleveland and
- 16:47Speaker 1: the Josh Gordon thing. Everybody in their division is sort
- 16:52Speaker 1: of under turmoil, and for the first time where it
- 16:55Speaker 1: seems like Cincinnati has always been had sort of the troublemakers.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Vanta is perfect and all kinds of other things that
- 17:02Speaker 1: that um that he's had to deal with there. So
- 17:06Speaker 1: I actually don't mind this pick all. They were dominating
- 17:10Speaker 1: um uh you know when they played last so Andy
- 17:14Speaker 1: Dalton looked great. I don't mind the pick at all.
- 17:17Speaker 1: I think it's a smart pick. Um. Look, the Bengals
- 17:21Speaker 1: defense is he's a great defensive line, right and look
- 17:28Speaker 1: I loved them in Week one against the Colts. They covered.
- 17:31Speaker 1: I picked them in Week two on Thursday night against
- 17:34Speaker 1: the Ravens. I thought the Ravens were just way overrated
- 17:37Speaker 1: by the public going into that game. Um, I agree
- 17:40Speaker 1: with the move by the wise guys moving this game
- 17:42Speaker 1: down from three and a half. The Panthers are still
- 17:45Speaker 1: one of those teams. Like I didn't know what to
- 17:47Speaker 1: think of him today. I don't love their defensive secondary.
- 17:51Speaker 1: I mean, Jeff the right in your backyard. Um, I
- 17:54Speaker 1: don't like the fact that they don't have Greg Olsen.
- 17:56Speaker 1: But uh so, I don't know what to make of
- 17:59Speaker 1: them yet, and I don't think it land As defense
- 18:02Speaker 1: today was as good as Cincinnati's can be next week.
- 18:06Speaker 1: So um, I can agree with you. I will not
- 18:10Speaker 1: throw a challenge flag on this pick. We got one already.
- 18:14Speaker 1: We got one, Paula Duca. Okay, So after having a
- 18:21Speaker 1: guy retire midway through the game, No, come on, man,
- 18:28Speaker 1: I literally watched Joe Flacco put up forty seven points.
- 18:32Speaker 1: They actually didn't take their foot off the gas pedal.
- 18:36Speaker 1: I'm not lying to you. I could have ran through
- 18:38Speaker 1: some of those holes today if they wanted to. The
- 18:40Speaker 1: Chargers could have put up seventy. They put they took
- 18:43Speaker 1: their gas off the pedal. At one time. I had
- 18:44Speaker 1: a chance actually to hit that under. It was basically
- 18:50Speaker 1: to thirteen for a good fifteen minutes of that game,
- 18:54Speaker 1: and then Josh Allen threw a pick. He's scared to death.
- 18:58Speaker 1: There's no way they put up I would. I would
- 19:03Speaker 1: make a prop that they don't put up more than
- 19:04Speaker 1: ten points in Minnesota, and I think Minnesota absolutely buries them,
- 19:11Speaker 1: and I would I would be surprised if Buffalo they
- 19:14Speaker 1: are awful on defense, and I'd be surprised if they
- 19:17Speaker 1: put up over a hundred and fifty yards on offense
- 19:22Speaker 1: um And I think that Minnesota is just gonna absolutely
- 19:26Speaker 1: bury them. And the line sixteen and a half. It's
- 19:29Speaker 1: by far the biggest lines, almost nine points bigger than
- 19:31Speaker 1: any other line in the NFL. Minnesota, so it's my
- 19:37Speaker 1: pick Bills would be an underdog against the Alabama Crimson Tide.
- 19:44Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying. That is rarely awful. Chad, did
- 19:49Speaker 1: you watch the first half of that game? Yeah, I
- 19:53Speaker 1: watched the I watched the game. They're awful. There's no
- 19:56Speaker 1: doubt about it. They're a terrible team. They're not going
- 19:58Speaker 1: to be underdog to Obama. More importantly, you want to
- 20:02Speaker 1: make a sixteen and a half point favorite one of
- 20:05Speaker 1: our picks a sixteen and a half. You're telling me
- 20:08Speaker 1: that Josh Allen's gonna be able to handle that crowd
- 20:10Speaker 1: in Minnesota after Minnesota got dead lucky too, By the way,
- 20:14Speaker 1: what are the chances they're being back to back ties
- 20:17Speaker 1: in in the NFL week? But Minnesota's got to feel
- 20:21Speaker 1: a little bit fortunate that they tied that game, so
- 20:25Speaker 1: a little bit of a win. You tie Green Bay
- 20:29Speaker 1: Divisional now here it comes Buffalo coming in. Josh Allen
- 20:34Speaker 1: is going to be literally he won't be able to
- 20:36Speaker 1: even hear the count. I've watched both of the games.
- 20:41Speaker 1: Chat at home and they have been a nile. I'm
- 20:44Speaker 1: not lying to you. If Philip Rivers didn't take the
- 20:46Speaker 1: gas off today, they would have put up fifty something points.
- 20:50Speaker 1: I mean, Melvin Gordon was running through holes bigger than
- 20:53Speaker 1: the l A. I looked this line too. This is
- 20:55Speaker 1: one of those were like as a as A as
- 20:57Speaker 1: like a guy who's like a football guy, Like there's
- 20:59Speaker 1: a win seven right, Like it's gonna not even be close.
- 21:03Speaker 1: And I kind of agree with that. So here's what
- 21:05Speaker 1: I look at that, Chaid. I had a question for
- 21:06Speaker 1: you on this chat. So if you Minnesota so far
- 21:09Speaker 1: has scored twenty four I believe at home, and then
- 21:13Speaker 1: they scored twenty nine today, So how many points in
- 21:17Speaker 1: Minnesota scores on Buffalo thirty Let's say it was thirty one,
- 21:21Speaker 1: so then how many this Buffalo score Minnesota? Like, I
- 21:23Speaker 1: just it's a lot of points. I don't know. The
- 21:28Speaker 1: other part chat, they were dealing with Aaron Rodgers today
- 21:33Speaker 1: eyeballs in every part of their head. Now they're dealing
- 21:36Speaker 1: with Josh Allen, who's going to be shaking different ballgame?
- 21:41Speaker 1: Am I allowed to take a pause on the Challenge
- 21:43Speaker 1: Flash and like wait to see what other pis we
- 21:45Speaker 1: lasterday before, let's put it in this one. I'm not
- 21:49Speaker 1: sure I agree with you. It's too it's too many points.
- 21:52Speaker 1: That way, you're the same guy when New Mexico is
- 21:55Speaker 1: down fourteen nothing you texted me and go nice pick
- 21:58Speaker 1: when New Mexico will have to talk about this one. Meanwhile,
- 22:00Speaker 1: you jinks my other two picks in Mexico is the
- 22:02Speaker 1: only one I won. Thanks by the way I was
- 22:06Speaker 1: giving you encouragement, nice job. I knows psychology. The way
- 22:11Speaker 1: it was, I was like the duca, he's a genius.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Nice He's he's so right on that pick that even
- 22:18Speaker 1: though they're losing, I know they're still going to come back.
- 22:20Speaker 1: And a way, that's what I was thinking. You are
- 22:24Speaker 1: a leader. Leader. All right, I'm going to lead us
- 22:29Speaker 1: into the next pick because we're putting a pin in
- 22:31Speaker 1: this one. Uh all right, here's my first pick. Are
- 22:35Speaker 1: you ready? Are you ready? College football boys? Mississippi State
- 22:42Speaker 1: is a ten point favorite at Kentucky. I would say
- 22:47Speaker 1: Mississippi State, which is undefeated, it might be a top
- 22:52Speaker 1: five team if Mississippi States helmets were a different color
- 22:56Speaker 1: and had you know, Florida on them instead of miss
- 23:00Speaker 1: Ssippi State. They'd be a top three team right now.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Like I think they are that good. And Um Colin Wilson,
- 23:08Speaker 1: who writes for the Action Network and UH covers college
- 23:11Speaker 1: football for US and it's sort of a college football savant.
- 23:14Speaker 1: He puts out this great story every Sunday morning, and
- 23:16Speaker 1: I used this as the basis for my pick for
- 23:20Speaker 1: b y U as an underdog against Wisconsin. That was
- 23:24Speaker 1: one of the picks that went three and oh in
- 23:26Speaker 1: our parlor show. Um, he puts out a story every
- 23:29Speaker 1: every morning, every Sunday morning, where he gives his own
- 23:32Speaker 1: power ringings on what the spreads should be. He has
- 23:35Speaker 1: Mississippi is a thirteen and a half point favorite in
- 23:37Speaker 1: this game on the road. The books opened it at ten.
- 23:42Speaker 1: I was emailing with Colin. The only thing we can
- 23:44Speaker 1: think of is that bookmakers believe Mississippi State might be
- 23:49Speaker 1: looking ahead to Florida to playing Dan Mollen, their old coach,
- 23:53Speaker 1: the following week, so they're shading Kentucky a little bit.
- 23:57Speaker 1: But I like Mississippi State in this spot as a
- 24:00Speaker 1: ten point favorite over Kentucky on the road. I just
- 24:05Speaker 1: bet this game on our app. Actually, I work out
- 24:07Speaker 1: as you were talking this is fabulous. Um, I'm not
- 24:10Speaker 1: trusting Kentucky ever to play football now. They did end
- 24:13Speaker 1: their strict in Suplorida before. I don't think it's a
- 24:15Speaker 1: very good right now. And you're right State, if they
- 24:17Speaker 1: had any other mascot or any other any other Jersey
- 24:22Speaker 1: color I agree with you, maybe be much higher ranked.
- 24:25Speaker 1: I kind of like this pick as a as a
- 24:27Speaker 1: low te as you see a matchup on Sunday. I
- 24:30Speaker 1: bet this as soon as I saw it, as soon
- 24:31Speaker 1: as the lines came out. I bet Mississippi State minus
- 24:34Speaker 1: ten DUCA. I like it. I was looking at this
- 24:37Speaker 1: pick as well because you know, UK s three and
- 24:40Speaker 1: o for the first time in a long time. They
- 24:43Speaker 1: beat Central Michigan. Obviously, they beat Florida. Florida beat up
- 24:46Speaker 1: on Colorado State. I actually like the Colorado State a
- 24:48Speaker 1: little bit this week, and they were in that game
- 24:51Speaker 1: for a little bit and then second half. It seems
- 24:53Speaker 1: like a good play for people out there. By the way,
- 24:55Speaker 1: the SEC teams when they played these smaller teams in
- 24:57Speaker 1: the second half, they've just been annihilating other schools and
- 25:02Speaker 1: then they beat up on Murray State. So I think
- 25:05Speaker 1: that's the other thing to chat like the people are
- 25:07Speaker 1: seeing Kentucky three and oh there's gonna be a giant
- 25:11Speaker 1: crowd from a guy that's actually covered horse racing and
- 25:15Speaker 1: gone to Lexington and see how people do travel well there. Um,
- 25:21Speaker 1: this is gonna be a big game in Kentucky. So
- 25:23Speaker 1: that worries me a tiny bit. But I do think
- 25:24Speaker 1: Mississippi States the real deal. And I already see that
- 25:27Speaker 1: you and Jeff have your your minus ten on and your's.
- 25:32Speaker 1: You're a guy that is a guy that does not
- 25:34Speaker 1: like the way LEI uh road favorite. So this is
- 25:37Speaker 1: this is a big pick for you, Chad. It is
- 25:40Speaker 1: I don't like the road favorites. I'm also not a
- 25:43Speaker 1: huge college football guy like normally. Um, I will wait
- 25:47Speaker 1: until I start to get more information before I decided
- 25:49Speaker 1: to make a bet in college football. But I'm feeling it.
- 25:52Speaker 1: I'm feeling it after b y U. I'm feeling it
- 25:54Speaker 1: on Mississippi State. It just doesn't make any sense to me.
- 25:57Speaker 1: Great team not getting enough credit, Jeff once your next
- 26:02Speaker 1: all right, Um, I find my stay in the NFL
- 26:05Speaker 1: here and it's kind of my team about teams not
- 26:08Speaker 1: getting a lot of respect. And again I'm and I
- 26:11Speaker 1: know the Raiders covered today. But I'm kind of on
- 26:13Speaker 1: this favorite Raiders thing all seasons that I think that
- 26:16Speaker 1: there even though that the game, you know, they won today,
- 26:18Speaker 1: I don't think they played tar on the second half
- 26:20Speaker 1: and they staid a lot of holes, like they have
- 26:22Speaker 1: to travel now after a really tough loss in Denver,
- 26:25Speaker 1: it's all the way to Miami. Um, you can play
- 26:27Speaker 1: in Miami. Team that's two and ouh right, they beat
- 26:30Speaker 1: the Jets. Uh this week actually pund the Jets really
- 26:33Speaker 1: in New York after you know, everyone felt the Jets
- 26:35Speaker 1: who were gonna win eleven twelve games they beat Tennessee
- 26:37Speaker 1: already this year. Um, they're they're only laying three points.
- 26:41Speaker 1: I kind of and I think it's another underrated team
- 26:44Speaker 1: who's playing really good ball. I know, Chad, do you
- 26:46Speaker 1: talk about it often? Like the Southern teams that no
- 26:49Speaker 1: one really cares about that they kind of follow in
- 26:51Speaker 1: that category. Um, I forget your exact terms on that,
- 26:54Speaker 1: but it feels like there's another game where no one's
- 26:57Speaker 1: respecting the Dolphins. There's already seven seventy seven percent of
- 27:00Speaker 1: there in Oakland and they lost today like they haven't
- 27:03Speaker 1: played good ball yet. And I just talked this as
- 27:05Speaker 1: another way to face the public of this game. That
- 27:08Speaker 1: is interesting. I don't know. I don't know why the
- 27:11Speaker 1: money is coming in in Oakland, and it might be
- 27:14Speaker 1: wise guy money right now, but I agree the line
- 27:16Speaker 1: has moved. It opened at four and now it's down
- 27:18Speaker 1: to three and a half. If it's gonna keep coming in,
- 27:20Speaker 1: I wonder if, um, if it's going to go even
- 27:23Speaker 1: lower and get to three, I would like Miami even
- 27:26Speaker 1: more there, Polly, you've been to Miami. Pick is just
- 27:30Speaker 1: like you know, everybody thought that Miami is gonna have
- 27:33Speaker 1: the worst roster in that division, But that line is
- 27:35Speaker 1: so telling you to play the other side. I actually
- 27:39Speaker 1: think it's a sharp pick, Chad, to be honest with you.
- 27:42Speaker 1: Like Miami minus three and a half, Well, here's the
- 27:45Speaker 1: thing that they sort of let Darnauld and Jets have
- 27:48Speaker 1: their chances to get back in that game today. But
- 27:51Speaker 1: the Miami's got a better defense than you think, and um,
- 27:54Speaker 1: when Tannehill is healthy, he can keep them in that game.
- 27:58Speaker 1: And again, like Cincinnati, Miami two games, I would have
- 28:02Speaker 1: never thought. And again we talked about the tickets that
- 28:05Speaker 1: you really don't want to send in and the tickets
- 28:06Speaker 1: you should play and I would have never thought he
- 28:08Speaker 1: would have picked Miami. So I actually like this pick. Yeah,
- 28:12Speaker 1: I can't disagree. I want to do that. Thing about Tannehill,
- 28:15Speaker 1: by the way, is in twenty sixteen they made the
- 28:17Speaker 1: playoffs with worth Ryan Tannehill. Now he got hurt of
- 28:20Speaker 1: that more of the play you know, the last couple
- 28:22Speaker 1: of games last year, he wasn't there. They were erect
- 28:24Speaker 1: Adam Gates. Remember their head coaches is considered like one
- 28:27Speaker 1: of these offensive minds, like a Sean McVeigh, like like
- 28:30Speaker 1: a Kyle Shanahan, like your Mattinee, like all these young coaches.
- 28:33Speaker 1: Host considered of that note, he just hasn't had the
- 28:36Speaker 1: quarterback here Jake Covert last ness, and I was seeing
- 28:38Speaker 1: him with Ryan Tannehill again, who's not a top ten quarterback,
- 28:43Speaker 1: but he's probably like twelve or fifteen when he's healthy,
- 28:46Speaker 1: which is plenty enough to win a game when you
- 28:48Speaker 1: have other peatres around you. So I think, though they're
- 28:51Speaker 1: getting those credits so far, I don't disagree. It's weird
- 28:54Speaker 1: to me that the money is already coming in and
- 28:56Speaker 1: the Raiders, it'll be interesting to see a playoff. This
- 28:58Speaker 1: is the beauty of doing this podcast on a Sunday
- 29:01Speaker 1: night when lines are first posting and we're starting to
- 29:04Speaker 1: see like the first hits come in, because it gives
- 29:07Speaker 1: us an indication of what some of the wise guys
- 29:09Speaker 1: are doing. I'm I'm with you, Jeff, like I think
- 29:13Speaker 1: Miami's the right the right side on here. Uh, PAULI
- 29:17Speaker 1: eure up next, Okay with my next selection, and it's
- 29:23Speaker 1: I'm not a piggyback on your boy. And we're talking
- 29:26Speaker 1: about teams that are a little bit underappreciated. And how
- 29:29Speaker 1: about Washington State. Now they're there are three and oh
- 29:34Speaker 1: they won forty one and nineteen. You know they shut
- 29:37Speaker 1: out San Jose State and you talk about swarts. He
- 29:41Speaker 1: said that you lost a lot of units. San Jose
- 29:44Speaker 1: State gave Oregon some fits this weekend, um sort of
- 29:48Speaker 1: state in that game, like Oregon can never really just
- 29:51Speaker 1: like spurred away from them at all. So to me,
- 29:55Speaker 1: this is a simple, simple game. Listen to our way
- 30:00Speaker 1: Colin Wilson and playing an underrated team here in the
- 30:04Speaker 1: PAC twelve. Now the Arizona State losing, we need teams
- 30:07Speaker 1: out of the Pac twove to start emerging, and I
- 30:08Speaker 1: think Washington States to play here against SC plus two points.
- 30:14Speaker 1: I have to pick another pick now, Paul, this is
- 30:15Speaker 1: gonna be my third one. I love this pick. I
- 30:17Speaker 1: saw this right away. Um, you have a USC team
- 30:20Speaker 1: that is not very good, and I think there's a
- 30:22Speaker 1: lot of questions now whether quite Healton is really good coach,
- 30:24Speaker 1: because we saw he was everybody doing without Sam Donald
- 30:27Speaker 1: and some general place for two years. He's pretty good.
- 30:29Speaker 1: And now you know the first haskins against un LV, well,
- 30:32Speaker 1: really they were only up nineteen nineteen to fourteen entering
- 30:35Speaker 1: the fourth quarter, and they scored in three touchdowns of
- 30:37Speaker 1: some of the fourth quarter when they came easily. Um,
- 30:40Speaker 1: they lost the Stanford really a no contest seventeen three,
- 30:44Speaker 1: and then Texas blew them out of Texas is six
- 30:46Speaker 1: and sixteen or seven or sixteen, Like they're just like, okay,
- 30:49Speaker 1: Texas might get run out of the gym by TCUs
- 30:52Speaker 1: this week. They probably will. So I think this is great.
- 30:55Speaker 1: You get the point. And by the way, also, Paul,
- 30:58Speaker 1: your West Coast guy, you know this Friday night night
- 31:01Speaker 1: games in the Pac twelve or funky Dude, they're weird
- 31:04Speaker 1: as can be and there's a lot of upsets on
- 31:07Speaker 1: Friday night in the Pact full conference. Um, this feels
- 31:10Speaker 1: very much like like a Washington State could win this
- 31:12Speaker 1: game out right. I'm with both of you. It was
- 31:13Speaker 1: one of the games that I had sort of pegged
- 31:15Speaker 1: on the board and I knew Jeff that you wanted
- 31:17Speaker 1: to take it, and then Paul just stole it from you.
- 31:20Speaker 1: As a guy who played in the Pack twelve, is
- 31:22Speaker 1: it stranger to play a game on a Friday night?
- 31:24Speaker 1: Is it harder to play a game on a Friday night?
- 31:26Speaker 1: The Pac twelve has had really weird scheduling quirks, and
- 31:29Speaker 1: they fixed some of these issues that they've had on
- 31:31Speaker 1: like Friday night. It's like they've they've always like sent
- 31:34Speaker 1: like really good teams like out of like not out
- 31:37Speaker 1: of conference, but like two weird spots, like they put
- 31:39Speaker 1: like a Rank USC team up in Pullman in Washington.
- 31:42Speaker 1: It's like a weird place to play it. Are you know,
- 31:43Speaker 1: are you playing core Vallence organ Stay on the Friday night.
- 31:46Speaker 1: They've just always have sent like really good teams that
- 31:50Speaker 1: really like the weirdest places to play in the conference.
- 31:52Speaker 1: And if you've ever been to Pullman or you ever
- 31:53Speaker 1: been to core Valence, like you kind of would understand
- 31:56Speaker 1: the quirkiness of those places. Um, and I'm just it's
- 32:01Speaker 1: just as patle after dark. The games to start, you know,
- 32:05Speaker 1: late at night, they're just odd. Man. There's a lot
- 32:07Speaker 1: of points they don't go as you think they're gonna go.
- 32:10Speaker 1: It's just a weird Conference West sometimes when the Whites
- 32:12Speaker 1: are on alright. So now we're at Washington State plus
- 32:16Speaker 1: four in a half against USC. I agree, um, Indianapolis
- 32:24Speaker 1: called plus seven against the Philadelphia Eagles. Here's my logic.
- 32:31Speaker 1: Number one, Andrew Luck. I am all in on Andrew Luck.
- 32:37Speaker 1: He was great in that game against the Bengals in
- 32:40Speaker 1: Week one, and if not for Jack Doyle fumbling the ball,
- 32:44Speaker 1: I kind of feel like the Colts win that game.
- 32:46Speaker 1: Like he was driving him down. The Bengals were having
- 32:48Speaker 1: a hard time stopping him. He's magical. I know that
- 32:50Speaker 1: goes against a lot of what we talked about in
- 32:52Speaker 1: Jeff's pick, but I felt like Andrew Luck was great
- 32:55Speaker 1: and like you could see why he was Andrew Luck
- 32:57Speaker 1: and why people were so excited for him to come back.
- 32:59Speaker 1: Number two, the defense hasn't been great, but they've been
- 33:04Speaker 1: better and they've got a lot of young talent that
- 33:08Speaker 1: flies to the ball, and I've been really impressed. Obviously,
- 33:13Speaker 1: they did a great job against Alex Smith and Washington
- 33:16Speaker 1: today and the Eagles on the flip side, they have
- 33:20Speaker 1: not been able to move the ball. They have not
- 33:22Speaker 1: been impressive. And Nick Foles has been uh kind of
- 33:26Speaker 1: a game manager without any place in his arsenal. He
- 33:29Speaker 1: hasn't been the guy that played in the playoffs last
- 33:32Speaker 1: year and uh at the end of the season. So
- 33:34Speaker 1: I feel like you're getting the better quarterback, um and
- 33:37Speaker 1: a team that is getting a lot of confidence, uh
- 33:42Speaker 1: with a pretty big number. I love this pitch for
- 33:45Speaker 1: a couple of reasons. Why UM One is you know,
- 33:49Speaker 1: the Eagles again are playing a backup quarterback. I think
- 33:52Speaker 1: we keep forgetting that they are playing a backup quarterback,
- 33:55Speaker 1: right Nick Foles gonna be a backup when when when
- 33:58Speaker 1: we comes right now, Wentz might be clear this week
- 34:00Speaker 1: to start practicing. So I don't know if he's gonna play,
- 34:03Speaker 1: but he does play, he's gonna be rusty. And I
- 34:06Speaker 1: think with Andrew's luck, you always give yourself an opportunity
- 34:10Speaker 1: to um to you know, cup to winning games like
- 34:14Speaker 1: he's a great guy to kind of like cover for you.
- 34:17Speaker 1: I think every game, at the very end of game,
- 34:19Speaker 1: he seems to be scrambled and making plays. And I
- 34:21Speaker 1: think this is a lot of points here for Cold Steam.
- 34:24Speaker 1: That's a little bit undervalue, and the Eagles team is
- 34:26Speaker 1: a little overvalued. Yeah, I lovesick Chat. I like a
- 34:31Speaker 1: lot uh Folds is getting a little happy feet and
- 34:34Speaker 1: j I was he came out of the game and
- 34:37Speaker 1: then came back in the game, so he was a
- 34:38Speaker 1: little bit banged up. So and I always love betting
- 34:42Speaker 1: on the next beard. He's one of my favorite guy.
- 34:44Speaker 1: I am plus units with Andrew Luck. Like he's just
- 34:48Speaker 1: you know how you have like a favorite guy to
- 34:49Speaker 1: play on you Like he just doesn't doesn't know me anything.
- 34:52Speaker 1: Andrew Luck doesn't know anything whenever I play him or
- 34:54Speaker 1: play against him. The neck beard works well. Listen, if
- 34:58Speaker 1: there's anything that I'm we're gonna bet against, it's a
- 35:01Speaker 1: neck beard. And it's also Andrew Luck. Has um there's
- 35:05Speaker 1: a fake Andrew Luck handle on Twitter. It's outstaff outstanding. Yeah,
- 35:10Speaker 1: it's amazing, and I wish I could find it. I
- 35:12Speaker 1: wish I could I could captain Andrew Luck or something
- 35:15Speaker 1: like that. Something like that. Yeah, and it's like just
- 35:20Speaker 1: him as a as a Civil War general writing letters
- 35:25Speaker 1: home to his loved one. Oh and they're great. And
- 35:29Speaker 1: he always puts neck beard in there too. He knows
- 35:31Speaker 1: he has it too, which is he he acknowledges him
- 35:34Speaker 1: running it. I don't think it's him running it is.
- 35:38Speaker 1: It's a parody account. It is a parody. Okay, Uh,
- 35:41Speaker 1: it's absolutely great and it's hilarious. Yeah, Jeff Schwartz, you're
- 35:45Speaker 1: up all right. Since PAULI took my college pick, I'm
- 35:49Speaker 1: gonna go back to NFL. And I actually saw this
- 35:51Speaker 1: total is now posted. I'm glad it's finally posted a
- 35:55Speaker 1: lot of points, but I'm going over fifty four and
- 35:58Speaker 1: a half ton of points and sl Chiefs and forty Niners.
- 36:03Speaker 1: First home game for the Chiefs. Pamlahomes right now has
- 36:06Speaker 1: ten touchdowns and no interceptions. He is absolutely baller right now.
- 36:11Speaker 1: And we've seen the Niners allowed four in Minnesota. They
- 36:14Speaker 1: also allowed twenty seven today to the Lions at home.
- 36:18Speaker 1: But really I'm picking this game because the Chief's defense
- 36:21Speaker 1: is garbage. They are garbage. They have allowed I'll pull
- 36:24Speaker 1: up right now to make sure I have the numbers right.
- 36:26Speaker 1: They allowed four hundred and twenty four passing yards to
- 36:30Speaker 1: sell up rivers and in zero cardor game Week one,
- 36:32Speaker 1: the charters dropped like seven touchdown passes and they allowed
- 36:36Speaker 1: twenty points. Chiefs said today to Pittsburgh they allowed thirty
- 36:39Speaker 1: seven points and Big Ben had four hundred and fifty
- 36:43Speaker 1: yards passing. The Chief's defense is so bad. You combine
- 36:46Speaker 1: that with a really good Chief's offense that can it's
- 36:49Speaker 1: multidimantal hard to stop. We know that Andy Reid start
- 36:53Speaker 1: seasons really fast, and I was there. We were nine
- 36:55Speaker 1: and oh to start last year. They were five and
- 36:58Speaker 1: oh to start this year. That seemed to be the
- 36:59Speaker 1: same way. I think at points rain down the arrowhead
- 37:02Speaker 1: this weekend, But what do you think of what's it
- 37:06Speaker 1: like to start a season nine or now? Um, it
- 37:10Speaker 1: was great until we went to Denver and Payton Manning
- 37:13Speaker 1: just tore us apart. In Remember I was, I was
- 37:16Speaker 1: standing on the sidelines, and I'll never forget this because
- 37:19Speaker 1: it made me like really understand how good paying Manning was.
- 37:21Speaker 1: I'm saying the sidelines and I'm like there, I'm like
- 37:25Speaker 1: the thirty and there with the other thirty and I'm
- 37:28Speaker 1: on the sidelines and I hear is like he throws
- 37:30Speaker 1: a path down the sidelines right like it's to come
- 37:32Speaker 1: to the ball smore right at man, I thought to myself, dude,
- 37:34Speaker 1: there is no way this ball gets to where it's
- 37:37Speaker 1: supposed to be. And it hit the receiver right in
- 37:39Speaker 1: the hands and a guy caught like right in front
- 37:40Speaker 1: of me. I was like in such an awe of
- 37:42Speaker 1: paying Manning throwing the football. I think it's the first
- 37:44Speaker 1: time I ever played against him. Um, we lost that game,
- 37:47Speaker 1: and then we lost the game two weeks later to
- 37:49Speaker 1: them as well, but that was a little close to
- 37:51Speaker 1: the second time. Um, but nine, it was fun, man,
- 37:53Speaker 1: because you basically hit yourself a playoff spot when you
- 37:57Speaker 1: start nine. Oh and we do make the playoff set year.
- 38:00Speaker 1: But what are the coaches like, Like, what do they
- 38:02Speaker 1: have you do in the film room? Are they is
- 38:05Speaker 1: it like do they celebrate the wins or they just
- 38:07Speaker 1: keep telling you don't believe the hype. This is what
- 38:10Speaker 1: we got to get better at that kind of thing.
- 38:14Speaker 1: I mean, I think selling the wins is as a
- 38:16Speaker 1: little much. I mean, day they we celebrate the wins.
- 38:19Speaker 1: I mean, Andy reads a big fan of giving us
- 38:21Speaker 1: like he give us Mondays off when we want to
- 38:24Speaker 1: be nine straight mondays off, but we we had some issues.
- 38:27Speaker 1: They're like, we offensively took us a while to go
- 38:29Speaker 1: nine year, so we want a couple of games that season,
- 38:30Speaker 1: especially in the first nine games with our defensive special teams.
- 38:34Speaker 1: I think that year we had the NFL defensive touchdowns
- 38:36Speaker 1: and especially in the touchdowns. So you know, we went
- 38:39Speaker 1: to Buffalo in one game like end of seven, like
- 38:41Speaker 1: somebody crazy like that. But then when then we ended
- 38:44Speaker 1: the year by the way, scoring like fifty six points,
- 38:46Speaker 1: four nine points thirty five. Part we scored a lot
- 38:48Speaker 1: to end the season, but it just took us a
- 38:50Speaker 1: while to get going. It's just a lot of fun
- 38:51Speaker 1: because the NFL is such a tough sport to play,
- 38:56Speaker 1: and really the only thing that unites the entire loss
- 38:59Speaker 1: from the coaching asked, the meeting, the people that the
- 39:01Speaker 1: pr the trainers as winning football games. It makes the
- 39:05Speaker 1: entire facility just so much more fun to be around. So, um,
- 39:09Speaker 1: it's awesome to win football games. It's only we're going
- 39:11Speaker 1: to miss about playing if the feeling of playing three hours,
- 39:15Speaker 1: you're all beat up, you're tired, your swore, but you
- 39:17Speaker 1: walk in that locker room and everyone's happy because you
- 39:18Speaker 1: want a football game. That's what I feel like. That's
- 39:21Speaker 1: why people celebrate so much when they get to the
- 39:23Speaker 1: end zone. It's hard to get in the end zone,
- 39:27Speaker 1: like you should celebrate because you don't know if you'll
- 39:30Speaker 1: ever get there again. That's why you should celebrate about
- 39:33Speaker 1: going three and oh this week, Chad, I am celebrating that, Paul,
- 39:38Speaker 1: are you doing that dance with us? Everybody seeing it?
- 39:41Speaker 1: Thank you for bringing that up. What is the longest
- 39:43Speaker 1: winning streak you ever had in baseball? Winning streak? Oh,
- 39:48Speaker 1: that's a good question. I think we had like a
- 39:51Speaker 1: ten game when I was in the minor leagues somewhere
- 39:53Speaker 1: in that area, the whowhere in that area? Yeah? Oh
- 39:57Speaker 1: you dogging for a while? That makes a lot of
- 39:59Speaker 1: sense to me. Wow, Paul, what do you think of
- 40:02Speaker 1: Jeff's pick over fifty four? Um? Yeah, there's gonna be
- 40:07Speaker 1: a lot of points. And um, I watched most of
- 40:10Speaker 1: the Detroit game today. Matthew Stafford. By the way, if
- 40:15Speaker 1: you remember, Chad, Jeff Schwartz claimed him as a Hall
- 40:18Speaker 1: of Famer and we saw his Hall of Fame stats
- 40:20Speaker 1: say when they were down, um, he threw for a
- 40:22Speaker 1: Tony yards and golden Tate made it look nice and
- 40:25Speaker 1: all the warm and fuzzy inside. They're late. Um, yeah,
- 40:30Speaker 1: they have no d and I think there's gonna be
- 40:33Speaker 1: a lot of points scored, so many penalties called. It's
- 40:36Speaker 1: it's just getting out of control, some of the penalties
- 40:38Speaker 1: that have been called and drives being extended. I want
- 40:40Speaker 1: to say some of the early games, sixty or seventy
- 40:43Speaker 1: percent of them went over the total. So vegas Is
- 40:46Speaker 1: gonna have to start a justin knees and you're gonna
- 40:48Speaker 1: see a lot of these totals start going into the
- 40:50Speaker 1: upper forties. Forty and forty six is are going away.
- 40:55Speaker 1: You know, these forty ones and forty two s for
- 40:56Speaker 1: under and overs, they're gonna start going away too. I
- 40:59Speaker 1: agree with you. I think this is an opportunity. I
- 41:01Speaker 1: think it's an opportunity for exactly what you just said,
- 41:04Speaker 1: Like vegas Is still hasn't quite adjusted to any new
- 41:09Speaker 1: offensive rules and some new systems that are being developed. Um,
- 41:14Speaker 1: I am all over this. Uh. I hate going over
- 41:17Speaker 1: like a big number. And Jeff, when you first said it,
- 41:20Speaker 1: I was like, this guy's a fucking square. But I've
- 41:23Speaker 1: come around in the last few minutes. I was going
- 41:28Speaker 1: to challenge you. I was gonna challenge you. Paulie, you're up?
- 41:33Speaker 1: Are you ready for this one? Chat? I'm ready? You're
- 41:36Speaker 1: really ready for this one? Oh God, this is gonna
- 41:38Speaker 1: be like a classic La Duca trash pick. But let's
- 41:42Speaker 1: hear it Duca trash pick. Wow, Hey, I wouldn't see
- 41:47Speaker 1: Titans in Mike Vrabel. It turns out that Blaine Gabber
- 41:53Speaker 1: actually turns out to the coaching tree at Bill Belichick
- 41:55Speaker 1: does produce wins. Okay, Mike Vrabel got his first win
- 42:00Speaker 1: today with Blaine Gabbert at the Helm. So now they
- 42:04Speaker 1: go into Jacksonville, who just destroyed the New England Patriots.
- 42:08Speaker 1: Everybody's darling, and what line do they hang up for
- 42:11Speaker 1: you six and a half? Come to Las Vegas, come
- 42:17Speaker 1: play the Jacksonville Jaguars, who just beat the mighty Patriots,
- 42:22Speaker 1: and lay your six and a half points and lose
- 42:25Speaker 1: all your money while Paula Duca bets the Tennessee Titans
- 42:29Speaker 1: the Fighting Rabels plus six and a half book at Danio,
- 42:34Speaker 1: give me a reason. It is the biggest trap line
- 42:39Speaker 1: in history. What everybody saw today was a dominating performance
- 42:45Speaker 1: by New England they actually saw a pretty good performance
- 42:48Speaker 1: by Blake Bortles. His receivers were open everywhere. That long
- 42:52Speaker 1: delivery was never any hindrance. Because the Patriots have no
- 42:55Speaker 1: pass rush for some reason, they match up very very well.
- 42:59Speaker 1: Claias Campbell was at one point going into the game
- 43:03Speaker 1: was not supposed to play. He ended up playing. They
- 43:06Speaker 1: won the game without for a net, which to me
- 43:08Speaker 1: sometimes I think he can hinder them every once in
- 43:11Speaker 1: a while. So it did not matter. They won the
- 43:13Speaker 1: game on defense and they just give the Patriots fits.
- 43:17Speaker 1: But now this is a game where it's in a
- 43:20Speaker 1: divisional game. They know each other. Mariota might play next week.
- 43:23Speaker 1: I'm telling you this is gonna be a three point game.
- 43:26Speaker 1: Vegas is hanging this line up begging for you to
- 43:29Speaker 1: play the Jacksonville Jaguars, and people are people are gonna
- 43:33Speaker 1: actually line up and bet Blake Portles this week, and
- 43:35Speaker 1: I am gonna laugh. I think it's actual hard this week.
- 43:41Speaker 1: I do wonder if the line gets above stuff, and
- 43:44Speaker 1: I doubt I bet, I bet the juice will just
- 43:46Speaker 1: change against the Times beat the jack Wars. Now, well,
- 43:50Speaker 1: they beat him twice in a row last year, and
- 43:52Speaker 1: and it was around they just seem to have their number.
- 43:55Speaker 1: They wanted to just team to ten late in the season.
- 43:57Speaker 1: They won big early year, something like thirty step into
- 44:00Speaker 1: twenties something around that. The penn of yere Um. It
- 44:04Speaker 1: just worries me when you have both of the tackles
- 44:08Speaker 1: for Titans were out this week against the Jaguars defense
- 44:11Speaker 1: and blame Gabber. It's just that that whole package worries me, though. Um.
- 44:17Speaker 1: But I think to your point about fading the public,
- 44:20Speaker 1: there will be a spot to face the public. You
- 44:24Speaker 1: guys are fucking idiots. Wow, I well, we just well,
- 44:29Speaker 1: we chose one. The problem is is I kind of
- 44:32Speaker 1: want to challenge the other one Paul had, But I
- 44:34Speaker 1: don't have to choose one of the other to challenge.
- 44:38Speaker 1: I am so okay. So say we're gonna challenge New
- 44:42Speaker 1: Mexico last week Day one. Every game that you guys
- 44:44Speaker 1: want to challenge, I win. The ones you don't want
- 44:47Speaker 1: to challenge, I don't win, So that I gotta keep
- 44:49Speaker 1: this inn in our practice reps. We did challenge that
- 44:53Speaker 1: Baltimore Miya seven and he won that one. So what
- 44:57Speaker 1: are you saying right now I should back off that
- 45:00Speaker 1: I should watch your next we should wait for all
- 45:03Speaker 1: the picks and then go over them and then see
- 45:04Speaker 1: why one cham. I think that some themes are going
- 45:11Speaker 1: to develop here. I think that the Rams are going
- 45:15Speaker 1: to continually get high numbers and they're going to cover.
- 45:21Speaker 1: I think the Jags are going to continually get high
- 45:24Speaker 1: numbers and they're going to cover. Oh my god, you're
- 45:27Speaker 1: not buying into the Blake Bortles ice cream in week two? Honestly,
- 45:31Speaker 1: you you seriously you were buying in the Jimmy gar
- 45:34Speaker 1: appolo until a week to No, no, no, no, here's
- 45:37Speaker 1: I'm telling you. I watched the Jaguars beat up on
- 45:42Speaker 1: the Giants so badly. Their defense is so good, they
- 45:46Speaker 1: are so confident. They're zero points at halftime against the Cowboys.
- 45:50Speaker 1: They are so fast at every position. I think they're amazing,
- 45:56Speaker 1: and I don't think the Titans have anything that can
- 45:59Speaker 1: compete with the Jaguars. I'm not uncomfortable laying six and
- 46:03Speaker 1: a half on the Jaguars at home against the Titans.
- 46:07Speaker 1: I think that's probably gonna be the right side. Have
- 46:10Speaker 1: you ever done voiceovers? You see amazing, no pun intended,
- 46:13Speaker 1: so amazing. This is the game that I personally would
- 46:19Speaker 1: not bet all. That means that I should choulenge it
- 46:21Speaker 1: or just we have Paul on this podcast for a
- 46:25Speaker 1: reason and we should let like let him pick and
- 46:28Speaker 1: do not have to challenge every pace. I don't. I
- 46:30Speaker 1: don't know what to do. Chad, you sound like my wife.
- 46:39Speaker 1: You know, tonight we were we were it was the
- 46:42Speaker 1: neighborhood black party tonight, and our older son is out
- 46:45Speaker 1: and he wanted to stay out later and I was
- 46:49Speaker 1: texting with him and I said no, and then he
- 46:51Speaker 1: was arguing with me in the text, and I just
- 46:53Speaker 1: looked to my wife and I'm like, I don't know
- 46:55Speaker 1: what to do anymore. She goes, I don't think I
- 46:57Speaker 1: com parent anymore, said and I feel like I feel
- 47:05Speaker 1: like you're like, I don't know what into by the
- 47:08Speaker 1: end of every pont like like last week when you
- 47:15Speaker 1: give that New Mexico pick. You know, child was like, Jeff,
- 47:18Speaker 1: what do you think? And I was like, what do
- 47:19Speaker 1: you want me to tell you? I don't. I have
- 47:21Speaker 1: not researched and real grand rivalry, so obviously Paul had
- 47:25Speaker 1: done it with some research. I just like, I am
- 47:28Speaker 1: very anti blacke Bortles. I think a lot of my
- 47:30Speaker 1: like like like I beg guess Jaguars Now two weeks
- 47:33Speaker 1: in a row, I've obviously lost those two bets. Like
- 47:36Speaker 1: I'm just very anti blade Bortles, and maybe I should
- 47:38Speaker 1: get in the Bordles train, but like I think he's
- 47:40Speaker 1: not a very good quarterback. And like today, for example,
- 47:43Speaker 1: they just for whatever reason, do anyone was like, we're
- 47:45Speaker 1: gonna play two man and Jaguars gonn run a bunch
- 47:47Speaker 1: of crossing routes, and everyone wasn't gonna change their defense
- 47:50Speaker 1: for anything, like we're gonna do it. I belt check.
- 47:52Speaker 1: This is a stubborn ass like that. Sometimes he just
- 47:54Speaker 1: doesn't used to prove a point, or he wants to
- 47:57Speaker 1: see how guys handled the pressure, or he you know,
- 47:59Speaker 1: this is a game where he decided to do you
- 48:00Speaker 1: know what, We're going to see how how two men
- 48:03Speaker 1: works in this j You know, jacksonvilsone else are running
- 48:05Speaker 1: was seeing the playoffs. Again, I don't know what. I
- 48:06Speaker 1: don't know what he was doing. But there are guys
- 48:09Speaker 1: are running old place, and I just I don't find
- 48:12Speaker 1: boils Man, but I don't really terribly. I want to
- 48:17Speaker 1: bet against him now and to bet against him, all right,
- 48:23Speaker 1: The best argument you made was that we got LaDuke
- 48:26Speaker 1: on this podcast for a reason, we might as well
- 48:28Speaker 1: let it thinks, Wow, let it make us picks. All right,
- 48:34Speaker 1: So here's my last pick. Here's my last pick. I
- 48:37Speaker 1: am gonna go with the Cleveland Browns minus three and
- 48:42Speaker 1: a half over the New York Jets and Jeff the
- 48:49Speaker 1: Browns defense man. You said it at the beginning. They
- 48:52Speaker 1: are a wild, wild bunch. They are talented, they are young.
- 48:57Speaker 1: Greg Williams. I feel like Greg Williams might be the
- 48:59Speaker 1: deep it's of coordinator, the only defensive coordinator in the
- 49:02Speaker 1: league who's actually worth points against the points Brett like,
- 49:06Speaker 1: he has that team playing well. And um, I'm just
- 49:10Speaker 1: impressed by them. I've watched so much of them in
- 49:12Speaker 1: the first two weeks. I'm not impressed with the Jets
- 49:15Speaker 1: at all. Uh the lines to me, weren't that good
- 49:18Speaker 1: in week one. Uh the Dolphins kind of destroyed the
- 49:22Speaker 1: Jets and dominating them today. Um, give me the Brownies
- 49:25Speaker 1: minus three and a half. So you're picking the Browns
- 49:28Speaker 1: to win their first game. I need a challenge, drive,
- 49:32Speaker 1: I need a chance. I needed nineteen tries. Nineteen tries.
- 49:36Speaker 1: You're picking the Browns to win essentially once the last
- 49:39Speaker 1: time they've been favorite shwartsy. I don't want to even
- 49:43Speaker 1: want to know. But it's been about three years. Boy,
- 49:46Speaker 1: here's the thing. You're you're lucky. I won't get over
- 49:48Speaker 1: the k because he went to Arizona State that that
- 49:51Speaker 1: half point bothers me a lot. That game, that game
- 49:55Speaker 1: today did not disturb you. If you can't win that
- 49:58Speaker 1: game today, when you ever gonna win, game has already
- 50:01Speaker 1: been bent down. It opened a three and a half,
- 50:04Speaker 1: now it's a three. You said that last week about
- 50:06Speaker 1: New Mexico. Oh Man money coming in interesting, interesting early
- 50:15Speaker 1: money hold on one sec. Early money, Uh is all
- 50:19Speaker 1: on Cleveland. Early action is all in Cleveland. Yet the
- 50:24Speaker 1: line has been bent down to three, which means some
- 50:26Speaker 1: wise guy money came in on the Jets. Josh Gordon,
- 50:32Speaker 1: he puffed a big blunt and he plaint all the
- 50:33Speaker 1: money on the Jets. Um they are. The Browns are too.
- 50:39Speaker 1: They'll get to spread by the way. Um you and
- 50:43Speaker 1: Jackson's won one game, so we needed to win his
- 50:45Speaker 1: second game. But he's got to win it by more
- 50:47Speaker 1: than how many points? Three points? So here's some starts.
- 50:54Speaker 1: Three Do we allow Chad? Do we allow Chad to
- 50:59Speaker 1: take this pick, and then we could just mock him
- 51:01Speaker 1: the rest of the season for taking the Browns as
- 51:02Speaker 1: a favor Here's the thing, like like like like you
- 51:07Speaker 1: know the phrase, nobody puts baby in a corner. He's
- 51:09Speaker 1: got he's got us in a corner. Like I'm one
- 51:12Speaker 1: and two. You might go in three or one and two,
- 51:16Speaker 1: he's three and no. We were buried. We cannot argue
- 51:20Speaker 1: his picks were like last week. We had had a
- 51:22Speaker 1: bigger argument, but that was a test show. He banged
- 51:25Speaker 1: us when it happened, like we we we had good
- 51:29Speaker 1: spring trainings and he went off first week of the year. Yeah, yeah,
- 51:33Speaker 1: I gotta I gotta say your clutch, what I feel
- 51:39Speaker 1: like me to eat this and take the break. I'll
- 51:40Speaker 1: tell you why. He goes three and oh and then
- 51:43Speaker 1: gets the Cleveland Browns to cover. I would think the
- 51:47Speaker 1: first game they've been favorites. I'd have to research within
- 51:50Speaker 1: the last twenty games, I would say, right, have they
- 51:53Speaker 1: been favorite? I want to say I bet him a
- 51:56Speaker 1: couple of times last year. I think they were here
- 51:57Speaker 1: favored against the Jets last year too, at home they
- 52:00Speaker 1: were and and um I bet that that game and
- 52:04Speaker 1: that that did me a lot of good too. Um
- 52:07Speaker 1: but um, I think I feel like this is like
- 52:10Speaker 1: Chad gets this one man, He's like, this is the
- 52:12Speaker 1: virtue going three now. He used he used to have
- 52:14Speaker 1: this Browns pick. When the spotlight is brightest, the Millie
- 52:18Speaker 1: monster shows up, the Milli Monster. This guy's third person
- 52:23Speaker 1: and nicknaming this. Let's do this. Let's recap where we're at.
- 52:30Speaker 1: Are you ready? Are you buoys ready? Are you boys
- 52:34Speaker 1: ready to roll? Here we go? Cincinnati Bengals plus three
- 52:39Speaker 1: at Carolina, the Minnesota Vikings, Jesus Christ. The Minnesota Vikings
- 52:47Speaker 1: minus sixteen and a half over Buffalo, Mississippi State minus
- 52:53Speaker 1: ten on the road at Kentucky, the Miami Dolphins minus
- 52:58Speaker 1: three and a half against the Oakland Raiders Washington State.
- 53:03Speaker 1: I love this pick. Plus four and a half against
- 53:06Speaker 1: the way overrated USC Trojans, the Indianapolis Colts plus seven
- 53:13Speaker 1: versus the Philadelphia Eagles, the oh Jesus the over fifty
- 53:19Speaker 1: four and a half between the Chiefs and the Niners,
- 53:24Speaker 1: the Titans plus six and a half against the Jags,
- 53:30Speaker 1: and the Browns minus three and a half against the Jets.
- 53:34Speaker 1: I wrote this on a piece of paper and um,
- 53:38Speaker 1: I'm glad I did because these picks represent the geometric
- 53:43Speaker 1: shape of this paper, which is they are all pretty
- 53:47Speaker 1: fucking square. Alright, fellas. This has been the Favorites podcast.
