- 0:14Speaker 2: This is the best of Stugatz and Company live on
- 0:17Speaker 2: Fox Sports Radio.
- 0:20Speaker 1: We have Taylor's power rankings to get to. We have
- 0:22Speaker 1: a Mount Rushmore Monday to get to. But let's start
- 0:26Speaker 1: with Dan Beyer, who I think probably, I'll let him
- 0:32Speaker 1: speak for himself, had the greatest sports weekend of his
- 0:35Speaker 1: entire life, a long, long time Milwaukee Brewers fan. He
- 0:40Speaker 1: went to one of the two World Series games. The
- 0:43Speaker 1: Brewers are up two games to nothing. Game three is
- 0:46Speaker 1: tonight in Tampa. And then he had Seattle, the Seahawks,
- 0:51Speaker 1: showing why they gave away Kenneth Walker to the Chiefs.
- 0:53Speaker 3: They don't need him.
- 0:54Speaker 1: They beat Kansas City last night, and now everyone's asking
- 0:57Speaker 1: what's wrong in Kansas City. Dan Beyer, was this indeed
- 1:01Speaker 1: the greatest sports weekend of your lifetime?
- 1:03Speaker 4: Got to be top three, right? I mean, like it does.
- 1:06Speaker 4: There's no doubt about that. If I thought about back
- 1:10Speaker 4: just of what happened on Friday night and the energy
- 1:13Speaker 4: of what was going on in Milwaukee... Maybe top two
- 1:16Speaker 4: for that reason. It's crazy. I don't know if Taylor's
- 1:22Speaker 4: been to a Yankees World Series win. I'm not sure
- 1:28Speaker 4: Jason's been to Dodger Stadium during a Dodger game, but
- 1:31Speaker 4: to go to a World Series as a fan, something
- 1:34Speaker 4: I've never experienced before in my life. And obviously with
- 1:39Speaker 4: the Brewers not being there for 44 years, it's the
- 1:41Speaker 4: reason why. But I think it's different than any other
- 1:44Speaker 4: sporting event that I've ever been to. And it's because
- 1:49Speaker 4: when I go to a baseball game, I think that
- 1:52Speaker 4: the 20 or 30 or whatever ballpark you're going to,
- 1:55Speaker 4: a thousand people that are there, all have different reasons
- 1:58Speaker 4: for being there. But it's never usually to be there
- 2:01Speaker 4: to watch their team win games. stay for the full
- 2:04Speaker 4: nine innings. Maybe it's there to hang out with friends,
- 2:06Speaker 4: go catch a ball game, have a good time. And
- 2:08Speaker 4: so to have like 40,000 fans there with one goal
- 2:13Speaker 4: and only one goal in mind, it's not to eat bratwurst.
- 2:16Speaker 4: It's not to eat secret stadium sauce. It's not to
- 2:19Speaker 4: get the new hoodie or the hat in the gift shop.
- 2:22Speaker 4: It was to win that ball game. It was quite
- 2:24Speaker 4: the experience. Those cheese curds, though.
- 2:27Speaker 3: I mean, come on. Seriously.
- 2:28Speaker 4: They're good. They're always delicious. Every single meal when I
- 2:33Speaker 4: go back home is like, let's get some cheese curds.
- 2:37Speaker 3: You were right about the World Series.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Unlike a billion people who say they were at the game,
- 2:42Speaker 1: I was actually at 86, Game 6, Red Sox and
- 2:46Speaker 1: Mets with my dad, with my brother. My dad being
- 2:49Speaker 1: a monster Red Sox fan. We didn't feel badly for
- 2:52Speaker 1: him at all. We didn't make fun of him at all.
- 2:53Speaker 1: We didn't mock him at all. even while he was
- 2:56Speaker 1: pulling out champagne and opening up the bottle to celebrate
- 3:00Speaker 1: what he thought was going to be a Red Sox
- 3:02Speaker 1: World Series championship, the first one since 1918.
- 3:06Speaker 3: Taylor, have you been to a World Series game?
- 3:09Speaker 5: Yeah, so I've been to one World Series game. I
- 3:11Speaker 5: went to game five of the 2024 World Series, Yankees-Dodgers,
- 3:16Speaker 5: and I was in attendance when the Yankees blew a
- 3:18Speaker 5: 5-0 lead in the fifth inning. Aaron Judges dropped. Garrett
- 3:21Speaker 5: Cole forgot to cover first base. I have nightmares about
- 3:25Speaker 5: it every night.
- 3:26Speaker 4: Now, take away the outcome. Take away what happened.
- 3:30Speaker 3: It's hard to take the outcome away.
- 3:32Speaker 4: But if you're there in the top of the first inning—
- 3:35Speaker 4: it was so different. Like everybody's in their seats. Like
- 3:39Speaker 4: there's no one like out in the concourse waiting. Like
- 3:42Speaker 4: everybody is there.
- 3:44Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 3:45Speaker 4: And that's not like every baseball game. Somebody shows up
- 3:47Speaker 4: in the bottom of the first, maybe top of the second,
- 3:50Speaker 4: the Dodger stadium, top of the fifth, you know, whatever
- 3:52Speaker 4: it may be, but it's the first inning and everybody
- 3:55Speaker 4: wants to see the first pitch and It was just
- 3:58Speaker 4: so unique. And I've been to World Series before as
- 4:00Speaker 4: a media member, but it's different because I don't have
- 4:03Speaker 4: a dog in the fight. I don't know what it's
- 4:05Speaker 4: like in that scenario. And that was so different. And
- 4:09Speaker 4: I don't know if it was because it was such
- 4:11Speaker 4: a long drought for the Brewers in Game 1. It
- 4:12Speaker 4: was so highly anticipated. But I would have to think
- 4:15Speaker 4: it's got to be somewhat familiar, whether it be with
- 4:18Speaker 4: the Yankees or whether it be with the Dodgers, that
- 4:20Speaker 4: just everyone is on the same page. And the other
- 4:22Speaker 4: funny thing is the Rays– don't travel like you're not
- 4:26Speaker 4: seeing tons of Rays fans right.
- 4:28Speaker 1: You're not seeing any at home I mean correct.
- 4:31Speaker 4: So it's all Brewers fans there's not like you know
- 4:34Speaker 4: a contingency of Yankees fans or Red Sox fans or
- 4:37Speaker 4: Mets fans or whatever it's just all Brewers fans and
- 4:42Speaker 4: yeah yeah it was really really unique.
- 4:44Speaker 1: So Jeff Passon was on with us last week and
- 4:46Speaker 1: he said uh it may not be the World Series
- 4:49Speaker 1: that Major League Baseball wants that people outside of Milwaukee
- 4:52Speaker 1: and Tampa wants but What he loved about the matchup
- 4:55Speaker 1: is that the people of Milwaukee, they care.
- 4:58Speaker 3: And this is the only thing they care about.
- 5:00Speaker 1: And they're not going to be distracted, and they're going
- 5:02Speaker 1: to be in their seats, paying attention, cheering loud, and
- 5:06Speaker 1: be ready to go 15, 20 minutes before first pitch.
- 5:09Speaker 3: That was the case, huh?
- 5:12Speaker 4: Yes, 100%.
- 5:12Speaker 3: It was full.
- 5:14Speaker 4: I mean, we got there two and a half hours
- 5:17Speaker 4: early just to make sure that everything was– we were
- 5:19Speaker 4: in the stadium and everything was good in the lines for,
- 5:21Speaker 4: you know, programs like you would expect. I mean, sure. Just,
- 5:24Speaker 4: you know, crazy. But when first pitch came or when
- 5:27Speaker 4: the announcements came to do the starting lineups and Tom
- 5:30Speaker 4: Rinaldi does his thing, everybody was in their seats and
- 5:34Speaker 4: it was, yeah, it was, it was really, really awesome.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Taylor has a stat here. I'm told about the, about baseball,
- 5:39Speaker 1: about the world series. What do you have here for us? Yeah.
- 5:41Speaker 5: So this stat is going to make Dan probably feel
- 5:44Speaker 5: even better about tonight. This comes from Jake Cuda on Twitter.
- 5:47Speaker 5: The Brewers were the most dominant team in baseball on
- 5:51Speaker 5: the 26th day of the month this season, going 7-0
- 5:55Speaker 5: and outscoring their opponent 53-9. Stu, check the calendar. Game
- 5:58Speaker 5: three tonight, October 26th.
- 6:00Speaker 4: I like that stat.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Why do I have to check the calendar if you're
- 6:06Speaker 1: going to tell me the date anyways?
- 6:11Speaker 5: You feel better about the Brewers tonight now after hearing
- 6:13Speaker 5: that stat, right, Dan?
- 6:14Speaker 4: Yes, absolutely. 100%. That stadium may be half Brewer fans.
- 6:19Speaker 4: But until that stat to know that it was the 26th,
- 6:22Speaker 4: that I had to look at my computer to make
- 6:24Speaker 4: sure it was the 26th, we're good to go. Locked in.
- 6:28Speaker 3: We sued you, huh? You're up 2-0. We sued you, huh?
- 6:31Speaker 4: I love it.
- 6:32Speaker 5: I don't think this series is going back to Milwaukee.
- 6:35Speaker 3: Really?
- 6:36Speaker 5: I'll say it.
- 6:37Speaker 3: Really? It's over.
- 6:38Speaker 2: Huh.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Hmm. I think it's going back to Milwaukee.
- 6:41Speaker 5: Ricardo just said you had Tampa in six. Yeah, that
- 6:43Speaker 5: was yesterday.
- 6:44Speaker 4: Today's tonight. Wouldn't every Met fan like take at the
- 6:48Speaker 4: beginning of the year that Freddie Peralta pitches game three
- 6:51Speaker 4: of the World Series?
- 6:52Speaker 7: Yes.
- 6:53Speaker 4: Yes. Every Met fan would have signed up.
- 6:55Speaker 3: I would have taken game one, two, three or four.
- 6:57Speaker 3: It doesn't matter.
- 6:58Speaker 4: Well, he's pitching tonight.
- 7:01Speaker 5: Yes.
- 7:02Speaker 4: For the wrong team.
- 7:02Speaker 3: 877-99 on Fox. 877-99 on Fox. We'll get to Taylor's
- 7:09Speaker 3: NFL rankings here in just a second.
- 7:11Speaker 1: I'm not certain I've been more confused by any team
- 7:15Speaker 1: in sports than I am about the Vikings and their
- 7:18Speaker 1: head coach.
- 7:19Speaker 3: I don't know what to do with them.
- 7:21Speaker 1: They're the most confounding, confusing team I have ever seen.
- 7:26Speaker 1: I think in all my years watching sports, they're undefeated.
- 7:29Speaker 1: They're 6-0. The offense is atrocious. The defense is as
- 7:33Speaker 1: good as it gets. Flores should be a head coach somewhere,
- 7:37Speaker 1: if not in Minnesota. And then you have this coach
- 7:41Speaker 1: who has assigned all these traits as a quarterback whisperer,
- 7:45Speaker 1: and all he's done since he's been the head coach
- 7:47Speaker 1: of the Minnesota Vikings is let the good quarterbacks leave
- 7:51Speaker 1: and keeps changing quarterbacks. So I don't know what to
- 7:54Speaker 1: do with Kevin O'Connell. I don't know what to do
- 7:56Speaker 1: with the Vikings. I don't know if the Vikings are
- 7:59Speaker 1: for real. I just know that the Vikings are undefeated.
- 8:02Speaker 1: They're 6-0. And I have no idea if their head
- 8:05Speaker 1: coach actually knows what he's doing. And I have no
- 8:08Speaker 1: idea if that Vikings team is any good. Thank you
- 8:13Speaker 1: for that.
- 8:14Speaker 4: You know what I loved about yesterday's Vikings win? It
- 8:16Speaker 4: was like the sixth most important game in that early window.
- 8:19Speaker 5: I know.
- 8:20Speaker 4: Yeah, the Vikings are unbeaten yet. The Niners and Falcons
- 8:24Speaker 4: were there. The Giants are going to overtime with the Texans. Heck,
- 8:27Speaker 4: even the Browns are pulling off another thriller. The Jets
- 8:31Speaker 4: fell miserably. Sorry against the Dolphins. But the Vikings going
- 8:35Speaker 4: 6-0 was just, yeah, it was just blah.
- 8:41Speaker 1: That's exactly right. They're a blah 6-0. Taylor, put it
- 8:45Speaker 1: on the poll. Are they a boring 6-0?
- 8:47Speaker 5: It does feel weird with this Minnesota Vikings team where
- 8:50Speaker 5: it feels like they have to apologize every time they
- 8:52Speaker 5: win a game.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Well, they should because they made us watch it. They're 6-0.
- 8:59Speaker 3: I know they're 6-0.
- 9:01Speaker 1: I think the thing that's confounding to me, the thing
- 9:03Speaker 1: that really, really confuses me, is why we keep calling
- 9:08Speaker 1: Kevin O'Connell this quarterback expert, this quarterback whisperer. He had
- 9:13Speaker 1: Sam Darnold. He decided to let Sam Darnold go. Sam Darnold,
- 9:18Speaker 1: the next season, won a Super Bowl for Seattle. He
- 9:20Speaker 1: drafted J.J. McCarthy, the guy that was supposed to replace
- 9:24Speaker 1: Sam Darnold, and he couldn't develop J.J. McCarthy and let J.J.
- 9:28Speaker 1: McCarthy go for a fifth-round pick to the New York Giants,
- 9:31Speaker 1: and J.J. McCarthy looked like a starting quarterback, in the
- 9:35Speaker 1: NFL for the Giants yesterday. He played very, very well.
- 9:38Speaker 1: And now he's stuck with Kyler Murray. And he hasn't
- 9:40Speaker 1: made Kyler Murray that much better. And I think the
- 9:42Speaker 1: thing that's confusing and puzzling to me is why we
- 9:45Speaker 1: continue to call Kevin O'Connell this great coach. And the
- 9:49Speaker 1: only reason we're doing it is because his team is
- 9:51Speaker 1: a blah 6-0.
- 9:53Speaker 5: This season, it does feel like we are losing more
- 9:56Speaker 5: faith in Kevin O'Connell being this offensive mastermind.
- 9:59Speaker 3: And coaches in general. We're losing faith in coaches in general.
- 10:03Speaker 5: Yeah, but the faith that we're losing in Kevin O'Connell
- 10:06Speaker 5: being this quarterback whisper, it feels like Kevin O'Connell is
- 10:09Speaker 5: gaining more ground and being like, okay, he might just
- 10:11Speaker 5: be a great leader of men, a great CEO-type coach,
- 10:15Speaker 5: where the Vikings are the last undefeated team in the NFL,
- 10:18Speaker 5: and and you look at some of the teams that
- 10:20Speaker 5: they were in that company with, like the 49ers and
- 10:23Speaker 5: the Chiefs before this week, that has to count for something.
- 10:27Speaker 4: Um, yeah, well, of course. Yes.
- 10:29Speaker 1: But it's not, I'm not saying he's a bad head coach.
- 10:32Speaker 1: I'm not saying the team's bad. They're six and O Taylor. Uh,
- 10:34Speaker 1: Flores deserves more credit than, than O'Connell. I'm just talking
- 10:37Speaker 1: about the specific trade of being able to make a
- 10:40Speaker 1: quarterback better. He's had two opportunities to do it and
- 10:43Speaker 1: he's failed both times and he chose the wrong quarterback to,
- 10:47Speaker 1: to let out of Minnesota. Darnold should still be there
- 10:50Speaker 1: after the season he had for the Vikings that year.
- 10:52Speaker 5: So in the credit pie, how much did you have
- 10:54Speaker 5: for O'Connell? And then how much did you have for Flores?
- 10:56Speaker 3: Flores gets at least 95% of the credit. He does. Dan,
- 11:00Speaker 3: am I wrong? At least 95. Defense is world class.
- 11:04Speaker 4: No, no. And the other funny thing was yesterday they
- 11:07Speaker 4: played Daniel Jones. Remember, they wanted to keep Daniel Jones. Right, yes.
- 11:12Speaker 4: And he ended up going to Indianapolis. So there's some
- 11:15Speaker 4: more mid-quarterback play.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Yet he's 6-0. It's unbelievable. I mean, the guy is
- 11:23Speaker 1: winning while losing. Does that make sense? And only because
- 11:27Speaker 1: his team is winning. And only because that defensive coordinator
- 11:30Speaker 1: is amazing at his job. You're going to be shocked, though, Taylor,
- 11:33Speaker 1: if the Vikings win the Super Bowl, right? You're going
- 11:35Speaker 1: to be shocked if the Vikings are the one seed
- 11:37Speaker 1: in the NFC, aren't you?
- 11:38Speaker 5: I would be shocked if the Vikings win a game
- 11:40Speaker 5: in the playoffs.
- 11:40Speaker 3: Really?
- 11:41Speaker 5: A game, yeah.
- 11:42Speaker 3: Really?
- 11:42Speaker 5: The Steelers, too. The Steelers and the Vikings. There's a
- 11:46Speaker 5: lot of teams that I'm just keeping an eye on
- 11:47Speaker 5: right now as teams that I can't wait to fade
- 11:50Speaker 5: once the playoffs come around. The Vikings are there. If
- 11:53Speaker 5: the Texans somehow make the playoffs, I can't wait to
- 11:57Speaker 5: bet against the Texans if the Texans somehow find their
- 11:59Speaker 5: way to the playoffs, which I don't think will happen.
- 12:01Speaker 5: But Pittsburgh's in that same camp where right now you're
- 12:04Speaker 5: watching the Steelers. It's like they're just dinking and dunking
- 12:06Speaker 5: their way down a field. Once they come up against
- 12:09Speaker 5: a real opponent, I think that's when teams like the
- 12:13Speaker 5: Vikings and the Steelers will go down.
- 12:15Speaker 1: You know, it's funny. The NFL, Dan, is so funny.
- 12:17Speaker 1: The Chiefs who were, you know, everyone, oh, the Chiefs, Mahomes,
- 12:20Speaker 1: he's healthy.
- 12:20Speaker 3: They're great. No one's going to beat them.
- 12:22Speaker 1: They lose to Seattle last night because you had the
- 12:24Speaker 1: best sports weekend of your entire life. But they lose
- 12:27Speaker 1: to Seattle. They were my number one team last week.
- 12:28Speaker 1: I know. And now a weekend later, a weekend removed.
- 12:36Speaker 1: We were saying this on Friday. And here we are
- 12:38Speaker 1: on Monday asking what's wrong with the Chiefs.
- 12:41Speaker 4: Everything. After last night, everything was wrong with them.
- 12:44Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 12:46Speaker 4: By the way, the Vikings, the next four, at Detroit,
- 12:49Speaker 4: home against Buffalo, at Green Bay, home against the Niners.
- 12:52Speaker 8: Right.
- 12:53Speaker 1: I want to say they're going to lose those games,
- 12:55Speaker 1: but they might not. Just because of the defense. It
- 12:58Speaker 1: won't be because of O'Connell. I can promise you that.
- 13:01Speaker 1: Is that fair?
- 13:02Speaker 3: 95? 95?
- 13:02Speaker 1: I'm not even certain the other 5% goes to O'Connell.
- 13:06Speaker 1: I'm just giving 95% of the credit to Flores. 5%
- 13:10Speaker 1: to the defense. The guys who actually play defense.
- 13:13Speaker 4: 5% could be miscellaneous for all I care. Yeah. They
- 13:17Speaker 4: haven't scored. They've had, what, they scored nine against the Bears,
- 13:21Speaker 4: 23 to beat the Bucs, 15 to beat the Dolphins,
- 13:24Speaker 4: 16 to beat the Colts. And they needed an interception
- 13:29Speaker 4: to seal it yesterday. Like it was still in the
- 13:31Speaker 4: balance at the end. They needed a Daniel Jones turnover.
- 13:35Speaker 3: Yes, the quarterback never seals it for Minnesota, his own quarterback.
- 13:39Speaker 1: It's the other quarterback. And that defense always seals it
- 13:42Speaker 1: for the Vikings.
- 13:43Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Gatz and
- 13:46Speaker 2: Company live weekdays at 3 p.m. Eastern, 12 p.m. Pacific
- 13:50Speaker 2: on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
- 13:56Speaker 1: Taylor, put it on the poll, please. That's to got
- 13:58Speaker 1: 790 on X. Is Robert Gasser the greatest pitching name
- 14:03Speaker 1: of all time? You would want your pitcher to be
- 14:08Speaker 1: named Gasser, would you not?
- 14:09Speaker 6: Yes.
- 14:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:11Speaker 4: Yes.
- 14:11Speaker 1: Johnny Fastball. 877-99 on Fox. We have a ton of calls.
- 14:17Speaker 1: We'll get to them in just a second here. Let's
- 14:19Speaker 1: go to Mount Rushmore Monday. It's a great Mount Rushmore.
- 14:23Speaker 1: The Mount Rushmore of worst NFL coaches of all time.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Give me the imaging, please. Hey, you there.
- 14:29Speaker 4: Yeah, you.
- 14:30Speaker 2: The guy with the spreadsheet pretending to work. Do you
- 14:34Speaker 2: find yourself needing a pick-me-up as you're dragging in your
- 14:38Speaker 2: cubicle to.
- 14:38Speaker 4: Start the week?
- 14:41Speaker 2: Are you ready to put the sports back in sports talk?
- 14:46Speaker 2: Well then, you're in luck, because every Monday, we climb
- 14:49Speaker 2: the mountain. We talk to legends, and we argue about things.
- 14:54Speaker 3: You want answers.
- 14:55Speaker 2: I want the truth.
- 14:56Speaker 1: You can't handle the truth.
- 14:58Speaker 2: That absolutely do not matter and are completely subjective. This
- 15:03Speaker 2: is Mount Rushmore Monday.
- 15:07Speaker 1: All right, it is a Mount Rushmore Monday here on
- 15:10Speaker 1: Stugatz and Company Live.
- 15:12Speaker 3: Taylor, do we have the order here for the Mount Rushmore?
- 15:15Speaker 5: Yeah, so the order is going to be Stugatz, Taylor,
- 15:18Speaker 5: and then Ricardo. And a reminder on the topic, in
- 15:21Speaker 5: honor of Aaron Glenn, it is the worst NFL head
- 15:24Speaker 5: coaches ever.
- 15:27Speaker 3: He might be it.
- 15:28Speaker 1: I'm not going to choose him first, though. The entire
- 15:32Speaker 1: book hasn't been written, although I can tell you the
- 15:34Speaker 1: way it ends.
- 15:37Speaker 5: Feels like the book is like 99% rated.
- 15:40Speaker 3: Spoiler alert. He's getting fired. And he deserves it.
- 15:45Speaker 5: Nice guy, though.
- 15:46Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 15:47Speaker 3: So I have the first pick here. So Ricardo's doing it, huh?
- 15:53Speaker 5: Yeah, Ricardo's the third today.
- 15:54Speaker 4: Take Joe Girardi. No, NFL.
- 15:57Speaker 3: So many bad coaches.
- 15:59Speaker 1: So many bad coaches. Some of the good ones. I'm
- 16:04Speaker 1: not even certain they're any good. with so many bad coaches.
- 16:08Speaker 1: All right, I will start here with, since it's in
- 16:11Speaker 1: honor of Aaron Glenn, I'll start with a Jet head coach, possibly,
- 16:16Speaker 1: and this is saying a lot, the worst Jets coach
- 16:18Speaker 1: in the history of Jets head coaches. I will start
- 16:21Speaker 1: with Rich Koteich. That was number one on my board.
- 16:26Speaker 1: On your power rankings?
- 16:27Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 16:27Speaker 3: Was it really?
- 16:28Speaker 5: That was 1-1 on my board.
- 16:30Speaker 1: I think universally, Rich Cotite is number one on everyone's
- 16:33Speaker 1: power ranking.
- 16:34Speaker 3: It's the only thing in sports we agree on.
- 16:35Speaker 5: So when you are the worst coach in Jets history,
- 16:38Speaker 5: that really says something about you. Yes.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Yes.
- 16:41Speaker 3: No question about it.
- 16:42Speaker 5: Right.
- 16:44Speaker 1: And that position has been held by Adam Gase. And
- 16:48Speaker 1: is currently being held by Aaron Glenn.
- 16:51Speaker 3: All right, Taylor, you're up here. So my first one
- 16:54Speaker 3: is Rich Cotite.
- 16:55Speaker 5: So I can't let this pick go to Ricardo because
- 16:59Speaker 5: in South Florida, there's one name you think of when
- 17:01Speaker 5: you think of worst NFL head coaches ever.
- 17:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:05Speaker 5: I'm going with Cam Cameron.
- 17:06Speaker 3: Beautiful choice. I was debating between Cam Cameron and Rich Cotite.
- 17:10Speaker 5: Those were always going to be the first two names
- 17:12Speaker 5: off the board.
- 17:12Speaker 6: Yes.
- 17:13Speaker 1: And for people who are unfamiliar with Cam Cameron's work,
- 17:15Speaker 1: he was the offensive coordinator, I think, for the Green
- 17:18Speaker 1: Bay Packers when McCarthy was there. I believe he was
- 17:21Speaker 1: assigned all the traits and responsibilities that we give Kevin O'Connell,
- 17:25Speaker 1: quarterback whisperer, going to make your offense good. Sometimes coaches
- 17:29Speaker 1: are just better off being a coordinator. But for people
- 17:35Speaker 1: unfamiliar with Cam Cameron, here is some sound of why
- 17:39Speaker 1: Cam Cameron was such a bad head coach for the Dolphins.
- 17:43Speaker 1: I want guys going out in this game not being
- 17:45Speaker 1: afraid to fail. But if you fail, fail forward.
- 17:48Speaker 6: What does that mean?
- 17:49Speaker 4: Well, if you're failing forward, that means you're failing, but
- 17:51Speaker 4: you're learning.
- 17:51Speaker 5: And then you've got to learn fast.
- 17:55Speaker 3: Fail forward.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Here is Cam Cameron trying to convince Dolphin fans that
- 17:59Speaker 1: Ted Ginn was a good draft pick.
- 18:01Speaker 5: Hey, we need that thumb to go this direction.
- 18:07Speaker 1: They had their thumbs down. He wanted thumbs up. He
- 18:09Speaker 1: welcomed in the Ginn family as if they were playing football.
- 18:14Speaker 1: We got Ted Ginn, and we got a great family. Unfortunately,
- 18:19Speaker 1: their son stunk at football, and he was a lousy
- 18:22Speaker 1: head coach.
- 18:22Speaker 3: Good choice. Ricardo, who do you have here?
- 18:25Speaker 5: I'm going to go with Bobby Petrino for the Atlanta Falcons.
- 18:29Speaker 4: Yes, that's a great one.
- 18:30Speaker 5: Quit midseason. Just left a note to the team that
- 18:34Speaker 5: he was leaving.
- 18:34Speaker 3: He got a better job for me. hired in Arkansas.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Yeah that's why he left three and three and ten
- 18:44Speaker 1: for Bobby Petrino yeah yep uh you have the swing pick.
- 18:47Speaker 5: Here and then for my second pick I'm gonna go
- 18:51Speaker 5: with um Urban Meyer.
- 18:53Speaker 3: Wow that's a good one Urban Meyer's a good one.
- 18:57Speaker 5: You almost forget about his year in Jacksonville it was
- 19:00Speaker 5: so bad it.
- 19:01Speaker 1: Was just a year huh yeah wow I think he
- 19:04Speaker 1: kicked the kicker He did kick a kicker.
- 19:10Speaker 3: What was the record in Jacksonville that year?
- 19:13Speaker 5: Two and 11.
- 19:13Speaker 1: All right, Taylor, you're up here. So Urban Meyer, that
- 19:17Speaker 1: is a good one, man. I have to cross him
- 19:18Speaker 1: off my short list.
- 19:20Speaker 5: So this name just takes me back to a different
- 19:23Speaker 5: time in the NFL. I'm going to draft Marty Morningweg here.
- 19:28Speaker 5: Five and 27 as an NFL head coach and the
- 19:32Speaker 5: moment for Marty Morningweg. is when he kicked the ball
- 19:36Speaker 5: to the Bears after winning the coin toss in sudden
- 19:39Speaker 5: death overtime. And the Bears just went right down the
- 19:41Speaker 5: field and kicked the field goal. Won the toss.
- 19:46Speaker 4: Yes.
- 19:47Speaker 5: Wanted the wind.
- 19:48Speaker 4: Yes, I'm off here.
- 19:50Speaker 1: To take a phone call, but we'll get to you
- 19:52Speaker 1: in just a second.
- 19:53Speaker 3: All right. So I have two here, Taylor.
- 19:55Speaker 5: Yep.
- 19:55Speaker 3: I'm going to go with Nick Saban. Hey, 16 and 18,
- 20:02Speaker 3: two years with the Dolphins.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Just based on the expectations we had for Nick Saban
- 20:07Speaker 1: coming into the NFL and what.
- 20:09Speaker 3: He actually did.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Major disappointment. So Saban is on my Mount Rushmore of
- 20:14Speaker 1: worst NFL coaches.
- 20:16Speaker 4: Of all time.
- 20:17Speaker 1: The rare guy who's on a Mount Rushmore of worst
- 20:19Speaker 1: NFL coaches and on the Mount Rushmore of greatest college coaches.
- 20:22Speaker 3: What was that, Dan?
- 20:24Speaker 4: That was a drop that Sam played. Go ahead, Sam.
- 20:27Speaker 4: I love it here. There it was. Nick Saban.
- 20:30Speaker 5: Belichick might also be on that path of Mount Rushmore.
- 20:33Speaker 5: He could be.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Well, it's your Mount Rushmore.
- 20:35Speaker 4: By the way, Golden Ticket's still alive. Golden Ticket's still alive.
- 20:39Speaker 5: I'm happy as hell. Yes.
- 20:41Speaker 1: It couldn't be Rod Martinelli, right? He never won a game.
- 20:44Speaker 1: I think he was 0-16.
- 20:45Speaker 4: I know Rod Marinelli was.
- 20:50Speaker 3: Rod, did I call him? What did I call him?
- 20:52Speaker 4: You called him Rod. You got the Rod right. Martinelli. Yes,
- 20:54Speaker 4: it was Martinelli.
- 20:55Speaker 3: I was thinking of Nick Martinelli, a former.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Northwestern basketball player who's sitting on the end of the
- 20:59Speaker 1: bench for an NBA team right now.
- 21:03Speaker 3: I'm going to go Adam Gase just based on the
- 21:05Speaker 3: press conference.
- 21:06Speaker 5: In the franchise. Yes.
- 21:08Speaker 1: I have two jet coaches on my Mount Rushmore of
- 21:12Speaker 1: worst coaches in NFL history.
- 21:14Speaker 7: All right.
- 21:14Speaker 3: So I have Saban and I have a, and I
- 21:17Speaker 3: have Adam gaze.
- 21:18Speaker 4: Can we have done this just with jets coaches by
- 21:20Speaker 4: the way? Like it's only jets.
- 21:22Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 21:23Speaker 5: Yes.
- 21:23Speaker 3: They've all been bad except for one.
- 21:26Speaker 5: Okay. Two, my round three pick here. I can't let
- 21:30Speaker 5: this guy go any further down in this board. Hugh Jackson.
- 21:35Speaker 5: Had a 1-15 season, an 0-16 season. One of the
- 21:39Speaker 5: worst coaches in NFL history.
- 21:41Speaker 4: Yes. So Bordock Ricardo is up next.
- 21:46Speaker 5: For his last two picks.
- 21:47Speaker 8: Yes.
- 21:48Speaker 1: All right, so I'm going to go with another Jets
- 21:50Speaker 1: head coach.
- 21:52Speaker 5: And that's Lou Holtz.
- 21:54Speaker 1: He was the coach in the 70s, 1976.
- 21:57Speaker 5: He went 3-10 and resigned with one game remaining in
- 22:00Speaker 5: the regular season.
- 22:02Speaker 4: God, we were bad.
- 22:03Speaker 9: We were bad.
- 22:04Speaker 1: I'm not going to say Spags. I'm not going to
- 22:06Speaker 1: be the one to say it. We love Spags. I'm
- 22:07Speaker 1: not saying it. And for my next one, I'm going
- 22:09Speaker 1: to go with Lane Kiffin.
- 22:12Speaker 3: That's pretty good. Yep.
- 22:14Speaker 5: I think you guys have botched these drafts.
- 22:17Speaker 3: Dan, has the golden ticket been taken yet?
- 22:20Speaker 4: It has not.
- 22:22Speaker 1: Wow.
- 22:23Speaker 10: Wow.
- 22:23Speaker 6: But.
- 22:24Speaker 4: A silver ticket for the 78-yard Sebastian Genachowski field goal attempt.
- 22:31Speaker 4: So I'm looking at my.
- 22:31Speaker 5: Big board right now for this last pick.
- 22:34Speaker 3: Nathaniel Hackett.
- 22:35Speaker 5: My big board for this last pick, I have to
- 22:38Speaker 5: have the Golden Goose on it because Hackett is on this.
- 22:40Speaker 5: But I don't want to take Nathaniel Hackett, I don't think.
- 22:44Speaker 5: But he was really bad.
- 22:45Speaker 4: Can't Hackett.
- 22:47Speaker 5: He was really bad. I am going to go... So
- 22:54Speaker 5: this pick is a little biased for me. Joe Judge.
- 22:57Speaker 5: Because Joe Judge was bad in New York, but the
- 22:59Speaker 5: lasting memory I have of Joe Judge is trying to
- 23:02Speaker 5: do a quarterback sneak on third and nine. And I
- 23:06Speaker 5: think that display of coaching.
- 23:08Speaker 3: Touch push.
- 23:09Speaker 5: Yeah, that display of coaching on a third and nine
- 23:11Speaker 5: when you're surprised that you can't get 10 yards. That
- 23:15Speaker 5: elevates you to one of my worst coaches ever.
- 23:17Speaker 8: Right.
- 23:19Speaker 1: Man, I'm trying to think of the golden goose or
- 23:23Speaker 1: the golden tickets.
- 23:24Speaker 4: It's all of the above.
- 23:25Speaker 1: I'm trying to apply your Seahawk fandom. I'm thinking it
- 23:29Speaker 1: might be Jim Zorn, who was just dreadful, but I
- 23:31Speaker 1: don't think he would do that to Jim Zorn.
- 23:33Speaker 5: Could be Rod and Rust.
- 23:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:36Speaker 5: Dave Shula.
- 23:38Speaker 3: Did someone say Hugh Jackson?
- 23:39Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 23:40Speaker 4: Yeah, Steeler got him in the third round.
- 23:42Speaker 5: That's a steal.
- 23:44Speaker 1: I'm going to say Matt Patricia, who was 13-29-1 with
- 23:46Speaker 1: the Detroit Lions. Matt Patricia. Matt Patricia. Because none of
- 23:50Speaker 1: those coaches from the Belichick coaching tree were good anywhere
- 23:53Speaker 1: else but with Belichick, including Josh McDaniels, who's.
- 23:56Speaker 4: Also a good one.
- 23:57Speaker 1: All right, so that's my four.
- 23:58Speaker 4: All right, so we done? We complete here?
- 24:01Speaker 1: Yep.
- 24:02Speaker 3: Yes.
- 24:02Speaker 1: Do you want to take some calls here before you
- 24:05Speaker 1: give out the winner of the week? All right, let's
- 24:07Speaker 1: go out to Kevin, who is in Minnesota today.
- 24:10Speaker 3: Kevin, go ahead. You are on Fox Sports Radio.
- 24:13Speaker 10: Yeah, back for more bashing on KOC. Perfect topic, you know.
- 24:20Speaker 10: This is coming from somebody who wanted Tomlin. We went
- 24:24Speaker 10: with Brad Childress. You know, I'm a Jim Harbaugh fan.
- 24:29Speaker 10: Jim got to his second interview with the Vikings brass,
- 24:32Speaker 10: but we had this triangle of authority. And I swear
- 24:36Speaker 10: to you that Jim didn't want us to succumb to
- 24:40Speaker 10: that or have to indoctrinated. He wasn't going to get
- 24:45Speaker 10: the power that he wanted. So we go with Kevin
- 24:47Speaker 10: O'Connell because I bet he agrees to this triangle of authority.
- 24:52Speaker 10: So we've got now a GM from Schneider Tree from Seattle,
- 24:58Speaker 10: and hopefully he cleans.
- 24:59Speaker 1: This mess up.
- 25:00Speaker 10: But, you know, it's a bummer. It's a shame because
- 25:03Speaker 10: Kevin O'Connell, he's We listen to his press conferences up
- 25:06Speaker 10: here in the north, and he's readily admitted this season
- 25:11Speaker 10: that he fell into this trap of needing big plays
- 25:16Speaker 10: and fancy offense when really it's just all about winning
- 25:19Speaker 10: the game. Well, you know, it's, I, I don't believe
- 25:24Speaker 10: him because this whole tenure up here, you know, we're
- 25:27Speaker 10: fourth and we're, we're, we're at the one yard line
- 25:30Speaker 10: and he does all these fancy trickery plays that never works.
- 25:34Speaker 10: He's still doing it in the Colts game.
- 25:36Speaker 5: I mean, it's just run the ball, run the ball
- 25:38Speaker 5: up the gut.
- 25:38Speaker 7: Run the ball.
- 25:40Speaker 3: I understand that. Calm down.
- 25:42Speaker 1: I need you to calm down because you're 6-0. I mean,
- 25:45Speaker 1: you're talking about this mess that everyone has to clean up.
- 25:47Speaker 1: You haven't lost a game yet. I would kill for
- 25:50Speaker 1: that kind of mess.
- 25:51Speaker 4: I mean. I thought he was just going to say
- 25:53Speaker 4: less steckle. Kevin wouldn't last a week as a Jets fan,
- 25:58Speaker 4: by the way.
- 25:58Speaker 3: I mean, Jesus. It's not that bad, dude.
- 26:02Speaker 4: You're fine.
- 26:02Speaker 1: Do you think Kevin O'Connell goes home? Do you think
- 26:05Speaker 1: he's happy with his 6-0, Kevin O'Connell? Like, do you
- 26:08Speaker 1: think he looks in the mirror when he goes home
- 26:10Speaker 1: and says, hey, the offense just ain't doing what it's
- 26:12Speaker 1: supposed to do?
- 26:12Speaker 5: He knows it's a bit fraudulent, I think.
- 26:14Speaker 3: He knows it.
- 26:15Speaker 5: Yeah, when he lays his head down, he's like, yeah,
- 26:16Speaker 5: we're kind of frauds.
- 26:18Speaker 3: Does Kevin O'Connell put it on the poll?
- 26:19Speaker 1: Does he look in the mirror and say to himself,
- 26:23Speaker 1: none of this 6-0 start has anything to do with me?
- 26:26Speaker 4: Can I also point out, this may be the first
- 26:28Speaker 4: time ever in sports talk history that one fan would
- 26:32Speaker 4: trade his head coach who's undefeated for a coach who
- 26:34Speaker 4: hasn't won a game this year? Because that is what happened.
- 26:39Speaker 4: When he said we should have had Jim Harbaugh.
- 26:42Speaker 5: Yes.
- 26:44Speaker 3: Who was winless. The last winless coach in the NFL.
- 26:47Speaker 4: I doubt it's ever happened. Has to be a first.
- 26:52Speaker 3: He'd still do it today. He would trade O'Connell for Harbaugh.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Straight up today. All right, let's go out to 877-99
- 26:59Speaker 1: on Fox. Matt, who's in Indiana today.
- 27:02Speaker 3: Matt, go ahead. You're on Fox Sports Radio.
- 27:05Speaker 6: Thanks for taking the call. I'm not sure if this
- 27:08Speaker 6: is a fair assessment or not. Are we including interim
- 27:12Speaker 6: head coaches?
- 27:15Speaker 5: We weren't, but if you have one, Matt, we'll take it.
- 27:18Speaker 3: Yeah, we'll put it on there.
- 27:19Speaker 6: All right. How about Jeff Saturday for the Indianapolis Colts interim.
- 27:25Speaker 9: With one and seven? I don't know if it was
- 27:28Speaker 9: worse on him for stepping in it or worse on
- 27:32Speaker 9: the GM and the owners for Hey, why don't you
- 27:36Speaker 9: come in and take over this team?
- 27:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 27:40Speaker 3: Okay, do you have three more or just Jeff Saturday?
- 27:47Speaker 4: Okay.
- 27:48Speaker 3: Jeff Saturday, I believe he won the first game, did
- 27:50Speaker 3: he not?
- 27:50Speaker 4: Yes, he did.
- 27:52Speaker 5: Got off to a hot start.
- 27:53Speaker 4: And, ironically enough, the game we all remember was when
- 27:56Speaker 4: they blew the lead to the Vikings. That's right. Right?
- 27:59Speaker 4: And guess who played this past weekend?
- 28:04Speaker 1: That was, listen, it was a desperate hire, right? It
- 28:06Speaker 1: was kind of like a gimmicky kind of hire.
- 28:09Speaker 5: It felt like a favor to Jim Irsay.
- 28:11Speaker 10: Right.
- 28:11Speaker 1: He needed someone. He loves Jim Irsay. He loves the Colts.
- 28:14Speaker 1: He's a good team guy, Jeff Saturday. We love Jeff Saturday.
- 28:17Speaker 1: He's been on the show. He did it because he
- 28:19Speaker 1: was asked to do it, right?
- 28:20Speaker 3: Is that fair, Dan?
- 28:21Speaker 5: He must have thought NFL head coaching was so easy
- 28:24Speaker 5: when they beat the Raiders to start. This is what
- 28:27Speaker 5: everybody says is so hard to do.
- 28:30Speaker 1: He thought he was going to parlay it into a
- 28:32Speaker 1: 10-year deal.
- 28:32Speaker 5: He thought he was going into Hall of Fame as
- 28:34Speaker 5: a player and then back in as a coach.
- 28:36Speaker 4: I think he wanted someone to live in the house
- 28:39Speaker 4: and not rearrange all the furniture, and they'll just get
- 28:41Speaker 4: to it later. It doesn't matter if it's a disaster.
- 28:45Speaker 4: Just keep it the Colt way. That's what I think
- 28:48Speaker 4: he wanted to do.
- 28:50Speaker 1: Let's quickly here, before we get to the results of
- 28:52Speaker 1: this week's Mount Rushmore, let's go out to Alaska.
- 28:55Speaker 3: Wow, let's go to Mike, who's in Alaska today. Mike,
- 28:58Speaker 3: go ahead. You're on Fox Sports Radio.
- 29:00Speaker 7: Well, thanks for taking my call.
- 29:02Speaker 4: Sure.
- 29:02Speaker 8: My claim was already taken by one of your commentators there,
- 29:07Speaker 8: Les Steckle for the Vikings.
- 29:09Speaker 3: Terrible guy. Okay, terrible guy.
- 29:12Speaker 1: I can't say anything about him that'll be good. Okay,
- 29:15Speaker 1: but terrible coach. You didn't know him personally. It's rough
- 29:18Speaker 1: to call him a terrible guy, right? He could be
- 29:19Speaker 1: the nicest guy in the world.
- 29:21Speaker 5: True.
- 29:21Speaker 7: He could be, but he was a rotten coach.
- 29:24Speaker 1: All right. Thank you for the call. Dan, let's get
- 29:29Speaker 1: to the results here.
- 29:30Speaker 3: You have me. You have Taylor. You have Bordot Ricardo.
- 29:33Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 29:34Speaker 3: Who is the winner of this week's Mount Rushmore?
- 29:35Speaker 4: Well, I can tell you that the golden ticket, the
- 29:38Speaker 4: golden goose, was not picked. But he was named. Rod
- 29:42Speaker 4: Marinelli was the golden ticket.
- 29:45Speaker 8: Damn!
- 29:46Speaker 4: He was named, but he did not go selected. The
- 29:50Speaker 4: reason being is they actually were 7-9 the year before,
- 29:55Speaker 4: which is an improvement from the first year. But when
- 29:57Speaker 4: you are the first to go 0-16, you're in a
- 29:59Speaker 4: class of your own.
- 30:00Speaker 9: Yes.
- 30:03Speaker 4: There were some really good picks. How do I know that? Well,
- 30:06Speaker 4: Todd Munkin currently has the same amount of wins as
- 30:09Speaker 4: Marty morning wag in his career that they're both at
- 30:14Speaker 4: five guests who also has five wins in his career
- 30:17Speaker 4: lane Kiffin. I'm telling you, we've got some really good
- 30:19Speaker 4: picks here. Ultimately It came down to the details and
- 30:24Speaker 4: the details were cam Cameron on the mic. It was
- 30:28Speaker 4: Marty morning wag and, and his decision to not take
- 30:33Speaker 4: the ball in overtime. Taylor, you're the winner. Ricardo, a
- 30:36Speaker 4: close second. Still, you're bringing on the bronze.
- 30:42Speaker 5: Oh, God.
- 30:43Speaker 1: I said it, though.
- 30:44Speaker 3: Had I said it, would I be the winner?
- 30:46Speaker 4: You would have been top two for sure. Oh, God.
- 30:49Speaker 4: Taylor's got a really strong, like when you want to
- 30:51Speaker 4: talk about like just chaos and mismanagement. Yes. Yeah. There's
- 30:57Speaker 4: some high points. And we got to see Hugh Jackson
- 30:59Speaker 4: on hard knocks just to see like how much of
- 31:01Speaker 4: a mess that was. Right.
- 31:04Speaker 1: But I armed Taylor with that sound. He was unaware
- 31:06Speaker 1: of the sound. I told him about the sound. He
- 31:08Speaker 1: gave me nothing. I gave him the sound. I should
- 31:10Speaker 1: get an assist there. I mean, I feel like I should.
- 31:15Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Gatz and
- 31:18Speaker 2: Company live weekdays at 3 p.m.
- 31:20Speaker 1: Eastern, 12 p.m.
- 31:21Speaker 4: Pacific.
- 31:28Speaker 3: 877-99-ON-FOX.
- 31:30Speaker 1: Adam Thielen will join us in hour number two around 420, 425.
- 31:33Speaker 1: We'll get to Taylor's power rankings in just a second.
- 31:37Speaker 1: We have one lonely, sad phone call here from Jeremy
- 31:41Speaker 1: in North Dakota. Let's go to him. He wants to
- 31:43Speaker 1: talk about the worst head coach in NFL history.
- 31:46Speaker 3: Jeremy, go ahead. You're on Fox Sports Radio.
- 31:48Speaker 8: Are you talking to me?
- 31:50Speaker 5: Yes.
- 31:50Speaker 3: Are you Jeremy?
- 31:53Speaker 8: My name's Jared. I'm in North Carolina, but close enough.
- 31:56Speaker 3: All right, Jared in North Carolina, go ahead. You're on
- 31:58Speaker 3: Fox Sports Radio.
- 32:01Speaker 8: Sorry about that. So, yeah, I just wanted to– by
- 32:05Speaker 8: the way, you guys nailed the entire Mount Rushmore that
- 32:08Speaker 8: I had.
- 32:09Speaker 11: That was great.
- 32:10Speaker 3: Good job.
- 32:11Speaker 8: Taylor stole my thunder because I was going to bring
- 32:12Speaker 8: up the Urban Meyer kick in the kicker, which is
- 32:15Speaker 8: just actually an insane story if you think about it.
- 32:18Speaker 8: Why would you kick your kicker if you wanted to
- 32:20Speaker 8: make kicks?
- 32:20Speaker 5: But anyway. Sending a message. I was going to– Exactly.
- 32:24Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 32:25Speaker 7: Sending a message, I guess.
- 32:27Speaker 8: So Stu, you know, I've been listening to you for
- 32:29Speaker 8: a while, Stu, you know how much I love you,
- 32:31Speaker 8: but you know, you, you guys in my lions, man,
- 32:34Speaker 8: I don't know what it is, but I feel like
- 32:36Speaker 8: I got to call in every, every week to defend
- 32:38Speaker 8: my guy, Dan Campbell. You know, I mean, I, I,
- 32:42Speaker 8: I feel like if Dan Campbell loses that game to
- 32:44Speaker 8: the Cardinals or if that game against the Cardinals last
- 32:46Speaker 8: week is close, you know, everybody's talking about firing him,
- 32:49Speaker 8: you know, and all that. And I don't know, everybody
- 32:51Speaker 8: like questions his fourth down decisions and, and, you know,
- 32:54Speaker 8: I don't really understand it. You know, the offense is,
- 32:56Speaker 8: is excellent. You know, they go for it twice on
- 32:59Speaker 8: fourth down and they, they don't get it due to
- 33:01Speaker 8: weird things that happen in that game. And they, they,
- 33:04Speaker 8: they won though. That's, that's the crazy part that I just,
- 33:07Speaker 8: I don't understand. I just always kind of feel like
- 33:08Speaker 8: I got to defend my guy, Dan Campbell from, you know,
- 33:11Speaker 8: everybody always being like, Oh, fourth down, this always a
- 33:13Speaker 8: Ben Johnson merchant. And I just think that's just a
- 33:16Speaker 8: little silly, but.
- 33:17Speaker 1: Right. I don't know. I don't feel like there's that much.
- 33:21Speaker 1: Thank you for the call. Appreciate it. I don't feel Taylor.
- 33:23Speaker 1: Do you like there's that much criticism.
- 33:25Speaker 3: Of Dan Campbell? I would love to have Dan Campbell
- 33:27Speaker 3: be my head coach.
- 33:27Speaker 1: I think Dan Campbell has exceeded whatever expectations people had
- 33:31Speaker 1: for him. when he took over as the Lions head coach.
- 33:34Speaker 1: He doesn't look the part of a head coach.
- 33:37Speaker 3: He's big. He's muscular.
- 33:39Speaker 1: That's not the way coaches normally look. He looks like
- 33:41Speaker 1: he could still play. But I love Dan Campbell. I
- 33:44Speaker 1: would love for him to be my head coach.
- 33:46Speaker 5: Yeah, I think people just bashed him yesterday for him
- 33:49Speaker 5: going for it on that fourth down. And you're kind
- 33:51Speaker 5: of playing the result there where they don't get the
- 33:53Speaker 5: first down and keep the drive going. And if you
- 33:57Speaker 5: turn the ball over there in that situation, I understand
- 33:59Speaker 5: Dan Campbell's logic to be like, okay, if we punt
- 34:03Speaker 5: the ball to the Packers and the Packers go on
- 34:05Speaker 5: this long drive, there's a chance Jared Goff never touches
- 34:08Speaker 5: the ball again. If we turn the ball over there
- 34:10Speaker 5: and we don't pick up the first down conversion, we're
- 34:13Speaker 5: guaranteed to get a possession in this game because of
- 34:16Speaker 5: how much time is remaining and how short a field
- 34:19Speaker 5: you're giving the Packers. Ultimately, it wound up working in
- 34:24Speaker 5: his favor because the Packers kicker was struggling all day
- 34:28Speaker 5: making chip shot field goals.
- 34:30Speaker 3: It's interesting.
- 34:32Speaker 1: The Lions and Dan Campbell, he is a good coach.
- 34:35Speaker 1: Like he's a guy that I would want to be
- 34:37Speaker 1: my NFL coach, but that's another division where I have
- 34:40Speaker 1: no idea. Like, the NFL is as wide open this
- 34:43Speaker 1: year as it's ever been. You're not sold on Kansas City.
- 34:45Speaker 1: You're not sold on Seattle. You're not sold on the Vikings,
- 34:48Speaker 1: even though they're undefeated. And you're certainly not sold on
- 34:51Speaker 1: the Niners after last week. It might all come back
- 34:53Speaker 1: to the Rams. And the Rams might just get healthy
- 34:55Speaker 1: at the right time, Taylor.
- 34:57Speaker 5: If I could circle back to the Urban Meyer thing
- 34:59Speaker 5: for a second.
- 34:59Speaker 2: Yes.
- 35:00Speaker 5: One of the craziest parts of that story, he just
- 35:04Speaker 5: mentioned how underrated it was, the kicking the kicker. Remember
- 35:08Speaker 5: when he hired the strength and conditioning coach from Iowa
- 35:10Speaker 5: and everybody was like, isn't this guy kind of racist
- 35:13Speaker 5: and a little bit problematic? And Irvin Meyer was like, no,
- 35:15Speaker 5: he's a great guy. And then he got fired almost
- 35:19Speaker 5: immediately when past allegations of mistreatment and racist language by
- 35:24Speaker 5: former players comes out. Also, that coach, Chris Doyle, that's
- 35:28Speaker 5: Declan Doyle, the Ravens offensive coordinator. That's his dad.
- 35:31Speaker 3: Oh, really?
- 35:32Speaker 5: Yeah. Doyles.
- 35:33Speaker 1: A couple of Doyles. Urban Meyer didn't do a single
- 35:36Speaker 1: thing right at the NFL level. Did a lot right
- 35:40Speaker 1: at the college level, we think. Didn't do a lot right,
- 35:43Speaker 1: anything right, in the NFL.
- 35:46Speaker 3: It is funny.
- 35:47Speaker 1: We were having this raging debate argument last week about
- 35:51Speaker 1: Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson and who.
- 35:53Speaker 3: Deserves the credit.
- 35:55Speaker 4: Is it Caleb?
- 35:56Speaker 3: Is it Ben?
- 35:56Speaker 4: Is it Ben?
- 35:57Speaker 3: Is it Caleb?
- 35:58Speaker 1: And I always side on the side of the quarterback,
- 36:02Speaker 1: of the player, because Caleb Williams was great before Ben
- 36:06Speaker 1: Johnson got there, and Caleb Williams would have been great
- 36:09Speaker 1: eventually with someone as his head coach.
- 36:12Speaker 3: It's kind of like Michael Jordan.
- 36:14Speaker 1: Eventually, somebody was going to win the six titles with Jordan,
- 36:19Speaker 1: and that somebody was Phil Jackson. But since Dan Campbell
- 36:23Speaker 1: just came up, Taylor, Ben Johnson is gone.
- 36:26Speaker 3: He's long gone. He's in Chicago.
- 36:30Speaker 1: Have you seen Jared Goff's numbers this year since you
- 36:33Speaker 1: love to give all these great characteristics and assign all
- 36:37Speaker 1: these attributes to Ben Johnson and say that he's the
- 36:40Speaker 1: reason for Caleb's success? Jared Goff without Ben Johnson is
- 36:44Speaker 1: having the greatest season of Jared Goff's career, and he
- 36:47Speaker 1: might be the MVP of the NFL.
- 36:49Speaker 5: I mean, it helps having Jamison Williams and Amara St.
- 36:52Speaker 5: Brown and Jameer Gibbs. What I think it comes down to,
- 36:55Speaker 5: the great quarterback is ingredients to a great dish. The
- 36:59Speaker 5: coach is just the master chef.
- 37:01Speaker 3: Okay.
- 37:01Speaker 1: Taylor's Power Rankings coming up next. We'll get to Taylor's
- 37:04Speaker 1: Power Rankings here in just a second. We're all excited
- 37:08Speaker 1: for those. 877-99 on Fox. Let's take some calls here.
- 37:13Speaker 1: Taylor at Sports Radio will drive you crazy, man. I
- 37:16Speaker 1: was having a conversation in the studio by myself. The
- 37:20Speaker 1: mic happened to be on. Taylor was listening. He asked
- 37:22Speaker 1: me what the hell I was talking about. And what
- 37:23Speaker 1: I was talking about were all the Giant fans who
- 37:25Speaker 1: were complaining about their GM and wanted him fired.
- 37:28Speaker 3: Before the season started. That guy is Joe Shane. He
- 37:31Speaker 3: got you J.J.
- 37:31Speaker 1: McCarthy for a fifth round pick. He also selected Malik Neighbors.
- 37:35Speaker 1: He also selected Jackson Dart. And if it sounds like
- 37:39Speaker 1: I'm a propaganda machine for Joe Shane, I am. He's
- 37:41Speaker 1: my friend.
- 37:44Speaker 3: There, I said it.
- 37:45Speaker 1: And he's been on the show several times. Taylor, Giant
- 37:48Speaker 1: fans still clamoring and wanting him to be fired?
- 37:51Speaker 3: No. No, I'm guessing not.
- 37:52Speaker 5: No, I haven't heard any of those complaints coming out
- 37:55Speaker 5: of East Rutherford, New Jersey.
- 37:58Speaker 1: I don't know why I went to you like you
- 38:01Speaker 1: have boots on the ground in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
- 38:04Speaker 3: I normally do. I know you do. Let's go out
- 38:06Speaker 3: to Eric, who's in Phoenix today. Eric, go ahead. You're
- 38:09Speaker 3: on Fox Sports Radio.
- 38:11Speaker 7: Hi, how you doing? You know, honestly, I don't remember
- 38:13Speaker 7: what his record was, but just for the comedy aspect
- 38:15Speaker 7: of it, I can't believe you guys didn't mention Gilbride
- 38:18Speaker 7: because I know he coached the Chargers. But, I mean,
- 38:21Speaker 7: Buddy Ryan took a swing out of me. He was
- 38:22Speaker 7: so bad.
- 38:23Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 38:25Speaker 3: Kevin Gilbride, I'm checking out the coaching record right now.
- 38:30Speaker 1: I'm laughing just because he's a funny name. The coaching
- 38:35Speaker 1: record on Kevin Gilbride.
- 38:37Speaker 11: See?
- 38:39Speaker 5: 6-16.
- 38:39Speaker 1: Really?
- 38:40Speaker 3: I had 9-23 overall.
- 38:42Speaker 5: Oh, with the Chargers.
- 38:43Speaker 3: Yes, with the Chargers. It's a name that should have
- 38:47Speaker 3: been mentioned. We apologize, sir.
- 38:49Speaker 1: Let's go out to Derek, who's in Vermont today, before
- 38:51Speaker 1: we get to Taylor's power rankings.
- 38:53Speaker 3: Go ahead, Derek.
- 38:54Speaker 5: Hey, how's it going, guys?
- 38:56Speaker 11: I have a question for Taylor. What would be the
- 38:58Speaker 11: bigger death blow to the Jets for him? The Jets
- 39:01Speaker 11: over-trapping a quarterback in the top three picks or believing
- 39:06Speaker 11: in J.J. McCarthy and giving up draft capital to take
- 39:09Speaker 11: on JJ McCarthy.
- 39:12Speaker 5: That would be the most jets thing of all time. Yeah.
- 39:14Speaker 5: Convincing themselves that one of these quarterbacks that's having a
- 39:17Speaker 5: little bit of resurgence is all of a sudden their
- 39:19Speaker 5: answer at the franchise quarterback position. But Stu, I know
- 39:23Speaker 5: what people are going to say when it comes to
- 39:25Speaker 5: the jets. It's like their jets are going to find
- 39:27Speaker 5: a way to screw that up. And part of me
- 39:29Speaker 5: does believe that because their head coaching search keeps getting
- 39:32Speaker 5: worse and worse every time. If they have three picks
- 39:35Speaker 5: in the top 15.
- 39:36Speaker 6: Yes.
- 39:37Speaker 5: Just pick three quarterbacks. One of them has to be good.
- 39:40Speaker 3: Or trade one of those first-round picks for J.J. McCarthy.
- 39:45Speaker 1: No, that would be such a bad option. I'm joking, Taylor,
- 39:48Speaker 1: but it's something the Jets would do. The Giants give
- 39:51Speaker 1: up a fifth. The Jets give the Giants a first.
- 39:54Speaker 1: It is going to be interesting if J.J. McCarthy continues
- 39:56Speaker 1: to play the way he played yesterday. Granted, it was
- 39:59Speaker 1: one game. What's going to happen? When Jackson Dark comes back. That,
- 40:02Speaker 1: to me, will be interesting. All right, let's get to
- 40:05Speaker 1: Taylor's power rankings. We have Adam Thielen joining us in
- 40:08Speaker 1: about 15 minutes. Any changes to the power rankings from
- 40:11Speaker 1: last week, Taylor?
- 40:12Speaker 2: Yep.
- 40:12Speaker 5: So it is the top 10 in the NFL after
- 40:16Speaker 5: week seven, even though there's a Monday night football game tonight.
- 40:19Speaker 5: Four teams have fallen out of the top 10.
- 40:21Speaker 2: Wow.
- 40:22Speaker 5: The Carolina Panthers, the Houston Texans.
- 40:25Speaker 11: Wow.
- 40:25Speaker 5: The New England Patriots and the Green Bay Packers.
- 40:28Speaker 4: Wow.
- 40:28Speaker 8: All out.
- 40:29Speaker 6: Wow.
- 40:29Speaker 3: The Patriots are out, huh?
- 40:31Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 40:31Speaker 3: Interesting.
- 40:32Speaker 1: The Texans are out. You're bailing on them that quickly.
- 40:35Speaker 1: They were back last week.
- 40:36Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 40:36Speaker 4: Okay.
- 40:36Speaker 8: Wow.
- 40:37Speaker 3: The NFL is crazy, man.
- 40:38Speaker 5: It's hard to support a two and five team.
- 40:40Speaker 3: I know.
- 40:40Speaker 1: I'm just telling you, the league is crazy. It is
- 40:43Speaker 1: absolutely insane. We had zero questions about the chiefs. And
- 40:46Speaker 1: now all we do is have questions about the chiefs.
- 40:51Speaker 1: I love the NFL. All right, go ahead. So you
- 40:53Speaker 1: have 10 teams here. This is your top 10 NFL teams.
- 40:56Speaker 2: Yep.
- 40:56Speaker 3: Okay.
- 40:57Speaker 5: Number 10. They played in Paris yesterday morning. the Pittsburgh Steelers.
- 41:03Speaker 1: Wow.
- 41:04Speaker 3: What a game.
- 41:05Speaker 5: So they're not overwhelming anybody on the offensive side of
- 41:07Speaker 5: the ball, but I love their defense and Jalen Warren's
- 41:12Speaker 5: emergence at the running back position makes me respect this
- 41:15Speaker 5: Pittsburgh offense a lot more.
- 41:17Speaker 3: Right.
- 41:18Speaker 5: And they have shown the ability that they can win
- 41:20Speaker 5: close games, which is going to make them a dangerous opponent.
- 41:23Speaker 3: Yes. You have to give Aaron Rogers credit. He's been good.
- 41:26Speaker 3: I'm not saying he's been great.
- 41:28Speaker 1: I'm just saying he's been good and good enough for
- 41:30Speaker 1: that team to win football games.
- 41:31Speaker 5: That's all I'm saying.
- 41:33Speaker 3: I like it.
- 41:34Speaker 5: Number nine. Yes. So they're moving down from last week.
- 41:37Speaker 5: I believe last week they were maybe six.
- 41:39Speaker 4: Wow.
- 41:40Speaker 5: The Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 41:41Speaker 1: Wow.
- 41:42Speaker 3: Moving them all the way down to nine.
- 41:44Speaker 6: Huh?
- 41:44Speaker 1: Wow.
- 41:45Speaker 5: The Jags maintain their spot in the top 10 because
- 41:48Speaker 5: sometimes the best thing you could do in the NFL
- 41:51Speaker 5: is simply not play. And the Jaguars won the bye week.
- 41:54Speaker 5: The Texans, the Colts, the Titans all lose. So the Jaguars,
- 41:58Speaker 5: by default, extended their AFC South lead.
- 42:01Speaker 1: All right. Who do the Jaguars have this week coming up?
- 42:03Speaker 1: They have the Colts at home, so they'll be back
- 42:06Speaker 1: to number six next week.
- 42:07Speaker 5: You would assume so.
- 42:08Speaker 3: All right. Number eight here, Taylor's power rankings in the NFL.
- 42:14Speaker 5: Number eight this week. They were number one last week.
- 42:17Speaker 5: So this is a stark drop.
- 42:18Speaker 3: Wow.
- 42:19Speaker 1: The chiefs all the way to chiefs. Dan Meyer.
- 42:23Speaker 3: Are you here?
- 42:24Speaker 1: This is why the NFL has a monopoly on all
- 42:28Speaker 1: of us. The chiefs were the best team in the
- 42:30Speaker 1: NFL a week ago. They lose the Dan Seahawks and
- 42:33Speaker 1: they've dropped all the way to eight.
- 42:34Speaker 4: What's amazing is that's an eight spot drop yet. Jacksonville
- 42:38Speaker 4: fell about half that without.
- 42:39Speaker 1: Even doing anything.
- 42:41Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 42:41Speaker 4: I don't know if I can trust Taylor's method here.
- 42:45Speaker 5: So the chiefs finally looked vulnerable and Seattle exposed some
- 42:49Speaker 5: legitimate concerns about their offense. I think Kansas city needs
- 42:52Speaker 5: a legit wide receiver one to turn to when defense
- 42:55Speaker 5: is key in on Kenneth Walker and nothing, nothing makes
- 42:59Speaker 5: Travis Kelsey look older than when the chiefs offense struggles.
- 43:04Speaker 3: And meanwhile, the Seahawks have the best number one in
- 43:07Speaker 3: all of football, man.
- 43:08Speaker 4: Is he good?
- 43:09Speaker 1: Jackson Smith and Jigba. I mean, I nail that every
- 43:12Speaker 1: time I say it. Mike Tirico got it wrong last night.
- 43:16Speaker 3: Was it Tirico?
- 43:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:17Speaker 6: Yes.
- 43:18Speaker 3: I was feeling good about myself.
- 43:20Speaker 4: I love Mike.
- 43:20Speaker 1: We love Mike.
- 43:21Speaker 5: Number seven, Taylor. Number seven. The only undefeated team in
- 43:26Speaker 5: the NFL, the Minnesota Vikings.
- 43:27Speaker 3: At number seven.
- 43:29Speaker 5: At number seven. We're finally getting to the meat of
- 43:31Speaker 5: their schedule. Getting fat off of bad teams.
- 43:36Speaker 4: Held back because of bad head coaching, right? That's why
- 43:38Speaker 4: they're not higher.
- 43:40Speaker 3: I think so, yeah. I mean, imagine. They're a head
- 43:43Speaker 3: coach away, Dan.
- 43:44Speaker 5: They'd probably be in the top five if they had
- 43:46Speaker 5: a good head coach.
- 43:47Speaker 1: And that head coach is standing right next to the
- 43:49Speaker 1: actual head coach.
- 43:49Speaker 3: Should be coach of the year.
- 43:52Speaker 1: How about that? Head coach of the year, yes.
- 43:56Speaker 3: How about that? So it's funny.
- 43:58Speaker 5: You should mention coach of the year.
- 44:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 44:00Speaker 5: Because number six, the New York giants. I think the
- 44:04Speaker 5: giants winning as plus as a 10 point underdog on
- 44:08Speaker 5: the road against Houston with JJ McCarthy starting shocking. I
- 44:11Speaker 5: think our boss playing his way into the NFL coach
- 44:14Speaker 5: of the year conversation. And I think he's probably the
- 44:16Speaker 5: front runner at this point.
- 44:17Speaker 1: I think John Harbaugh of active coaches is probably on
- 44:20Speaker 1: the Mount Rushmore of active coaches, right?
- 44:22Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 44:23Speaker 1: Like we shouldn't be surprised that he's, he's doing a
- 44:25Speaker 1: good coaching job. It's what he does. And Baltimore, meanwhile,
- 44:28Speaker 1: is without Lamar Jackson again and again and again and again.
- 44:32Speaker 5: John Harbaugh is winning the breakup so far.
- 44:37Speaker 3: He certainly is.
- 44:37Speaker 1: And he is the front runner for coach of the year.
- 44:40Speaker 1: That's fair.
- 44:41Speaker 3: Number five, Taylor.
- 44:42Speaker 5: Number five. Their uniforms are number one. The Seattle Seahawks
- 44:48Speaker 5: state the win against Kansas City. Holding the homes and
- 44:51Speaker 5: the Chiefs to just three points. The exact kind of
- 44:54Speaker 5: performance that changes everything. people's perception of.
- 44:57Speaker 1: Your team dan let's start here do you agree the
- 44:59Speaker 1: best uniforms in the nfl belong to the seahawks.
- 45:01Speaker 4: Absolutely reminds me of my childhood they've been doing it
- 45:04Speaker 4: against afc west squads did it with the broncos last
- 45:06Speaker 4: week and then the chiefs this week.
- 45:09Speaker 1: Uh do you feel slighted though that he only has
- 45:11Speaker 1: seattle at five the reigning super bowl champs who are
- 45:13Speaker 1: coming off a win against kansas city.
- 45:14Speaker 4: They wouldn't make the playoffs today i'm sure mikey's gonna
- 45:17Speaker 4: tell you that later this week but yeah i'm fine
- 45:19Speaker 4: at five if they're in the if uh They're in
- 45:22Speaker 4: Taylor's power rankings there. He's right down there on the
- 45:24Speaker 4: outside looking in.
- 45:25Speaker 5: How bailed out did Sam Donald get with that red
- 45:27Speaker 5: zone interception?
- 45:28Speaker 4: Oh, no kidding.
- 45:29Speaker 3: Unbelievable.
- 45:31Speaker 4: Won a game.
- 45:31Speaker 3: Wait, so if the season ended today, the Chiefs are
- 45:34Speaker 3: the one seed?
- 45:35Speaker 5: Yes.
- 45:37Speaker 1: So he has them at number eight and Seattle at
- 45:38Speaker 1: number five, and if the season ended today, they wouldn't
- 45:41Speaker 1: be a playoff team.
- 45:43Speaker 4: Power rankings. Yes, I'm starting to question.
- 45:46Speaker 1: Him, too.
- 45:47Speaker 3: But it's his power rankings, man. I mean, week to week.
- 45:52Speaker 1: All right, Taylor, top four here. Number four in your
- 45:54Speaker 1: NFL power rankings.
- 45:56Speaker 5: Our biggest riser this week, the Denver Broncos.
- 45:59Speaker 3: Congratulations to Bo Nix.
- 46:00Speaker 5: Where Bo Nix kind of reminded everybody why there's so
- 46:03Speaker 5: much excitement around his potential ceiling as a quarterback.
- 46:07Speaker 3: Good defense. That quarterback plays.
- 46:10Speaker 5: They have the pieces to make some serious noise.
- 46:12Speaker 1: Well, I mean, they made it to the AFC championship
- 46:14Speaker 1: game a year ago.
- 46:15Speaker 5: And then Bo Nix got hurt. He hasn't looked like
- 46:16Speaker 5: the same quarterback since, but.
- 46:18Speaker 3: Until last night. Until yesterday.
- 46:19Speaker 4: That run.
- 46:19Speaker 3: That run, man.
- 46:20Speaker 2: Special.
- 46:21Speaker 4: And a win over one of the elites in Arizona.
- 46:23Speaker 4: I mean, like, you don't go to Glendale and think
- 46:27Speaker 4: you're going to lead with a W, but they did.
- 46:28Speaker 3: I mean, Arizona's coming off a win at the Rams.
- 46:31Speaker 5: They only win, though, in L.A.
- 46:36Speaker 3: Dan does feel slighted. He does.
- 46:38Speaker 4: I can tell.
- 46:39Speaker 3: He doesn't care that Seahawks haven't made the playoffs. He
- 46:42Speaker 3: thinks they should be higher than five. Number three, Taylor.
- 46:46Speaker 5: Number three, the San Francisco 49ers. When healthy, they are
- 46:52Speaker 5: still my most complete team in football.
- 46:55Speaker 1: The problem.
- 46:56Speaker 3: Never healthy.
- 46:57Speaker 5: They are never going to be healthy.
- 46:58Speaker 4: Ever.
- 46:59Speaker 7: Yes.
- 46:59Speaker 4: Ever.
- 47:00Speaker 3: Michael Penix looked good in that game yesterday. falcons yeah yeah.
- 47:04Speaker 5: That was like a scheduled loss for the 49ers it was.
- 47:09Speaker 1: Good loss they knew they were going to lose one
- 47:10Speaker 1: that you know i'm not saying that he said this
- 47:13Speaker 1: before the game kyle shanahan but he said guys it's
- 47:16Speaker 1: okay it's across the country to atlanta all right we
- 47:19Speaker 1: have two more number two.
- 47:20Speaker 5: The buffalo bills you have josh allen you're most likely
- 47:23Speaker 5: going to find your way in the top two no.
- 47:26Speaker 3: Doubt didn't play.
- 47:29Speaker 1: Didn't play just stayed put yeah right All right, this
- 47:32Speaker 1: is exciting because the Chiefs were number one last week.
- 47:35Speaker 5: Not a good sign for this new.
- 47:39Speaker 3: Team.
- 47:39Speaker 1: The best team in the NFL through seven weeks, according
- 47:42Speaker 1: to Taylor.
- 47:43Speaker 5: The best team in the NFL right now and the
- 47:45Speaker 5: most exciting quarterback in the NFL and the best head
- 47:48Speaker 5: coach in the NFL right now, the Chicago Bears. Legitimate
- 47:54Speaker 5: Super Bowl contender.
- 47:55Speaker 1: Yes, greatest quarterback to ever play the game of football,
- 47:57Speaker 1: Caleb Williams. Our thanks to Adam Thielen for joining us.
- 48:01Speaker 1: I miss that man. Taylor, you were thinking what I
- 48:03Speaker 1: was thinking while we were doing Adam Thielen, the interview.
- 48:06Speaker 1: That's a good-looking man, and that's a man who's going
- 48:08Speaker 1: to win. the Tahoe tournament simply because he has time
- 48:11Speaker 1: on his hands. He's already good at golf, and now
- 48:14Speaker 1: he has extra time on his hands, and Marty Fish,
- 48:16Speaker 1: his dear friend, is in big, big trouble.
- 48:20Speaker 5: You want to talk about looking the part? Adam Thielen
- 48:23Speaker 5: looks every bit the part.
- 48:26Speaker 1: If you saw Adam Thielen on a driving range, you
- 48:28Speaker 1: would guess and say, hey, amongst tour players, and say, hey,
- 48:32Speaker 1: guess which one of these guys plays on the PGA Tour,
- 48:35Speaker 1: a lot of people would guess Adam Thielen. That's what
- 48:37Speaker 1: you're saying when you say he looks the part, right?
- 48:39Speaker 5: Yeah, so I'm surprised Adam Thielen wouldn't back me up
- 48:41Speaker 5: on the fact that I don't think Marty Fish should
- 48:43Speaker 5: be eligible to go for a third championship at the
- 48:47Speaker 5: American Century Championship. Yes. Especially because you have Thielen, who's
- 48:51Speaker 5: never won the tournament. You look at some of his
- 48:53Speaker 5: highest finishes. His highest finish at the American Century Championship
- 48:56Speaker 5: was fourth place. You would think somebody like Adam Thielen— well,
- 48:59Speaker 5: I guess Adam Thielen— He's a competitor.
- 49:01Speaker 3: He's not us.
- 49:02Speaker 2: Right.
- 49:03Speaker 3: He doesn't want to eliminate his competition. He wants to
- 49:05Speaker 3: beat his competition.
- 49:05Speaker 5: He wants to beat Marty Fish. Because he knows in
- 49:08Speaker 5: the back of his mind that if Marty Fish wasn't
- 49:11Speaker 5: in the field, we would put an asterisk next to
- 49:13Speaker 5: him winning the American Century.
- 49:15Speaker 3: And by we, us.
- 49:16Speaker 6: Yes.
- 49:17Speaker 5: Me specifically.
- 49:18Speaker 3: Because no one else is paying attention to that thing.
- 49:20Speaker 1: I mean, they like it.
- 49:21Speaker 3: They enjoy it. It's a nice thing in July. We
- 49:23Speaker 3: love it.
- 49:23Speaker 1: It's our Super Bowl. But yes, we would put an asterisk.
- 49:26Speaker 1: I did it to Marty Fish the year he won
- 49:28Speaker 1: it without fans there.
- 49:31Speaker 5: Yeah, you got to do it against Joe Pavelski. You
- 49:33Speaker 5: got to do it against Steph Curry, Marty Fish.
- 49:35Speaker 6: Yes.
- 49:36Speaker 3: Taylor, what was your biggest surprise?
- 49:39Speaker 1: Uh, over the weekend, there were a number of upsets
- 49:41Speaker 1: and I can tell you two, two outcomes, uh, one NFL,
- 49:44Speaker 1: one college, uh, that really shocked me in the NFL.
- 49:48Speaker 1: It wasn't that Carolina lost. It's the way Carolina lost.
- 49:52Speaker 1: getting blown out by Tampa. You figure Baker does a
- 49:55Speaker 1: lot in that game. He's back. Baker didn't do anything.
- 49:58Speaker 1: He didn't have to. The running game was fantastic. The
- 50:01Speaker 1: other one for me, and this is really more, it's
- 50:04Speaker 1: an indictment on North Carolina. And so I'm sorry to
- 50:08Speaker 1: go here, but North Carolina, You know, I think Belichick,
- 50:12Speaker 1: I'm saying to myself, you know, guy's a Hall of
- 50:15Speaker 1: Fame coach.
- 50:16Speaker 3: He knows how to coach. He's going to get it
- 50:17Speaker 3: right eventually at North Carolina.
- 50:19Speaker 1: And I thought things were headed in the right direction
- 50:22Speaker 1: for Bill Belichick until they lost to Syracuse.
- 50:25Speaker 3: And you cannot, that's a bad Syracuse team.
- 50:28Speaker 1: You cannot lose to Syracuse the way they lost to
- 50:31Speaker 1: Syracuse and do it at home. You just can't.
- 50:34Speaker 5: My least favorite people today are the people, the North
- 50:37Speaker 5: Carolina fans that are complaining that North Carolina lost because
- 50:41Speaker 5: they didn't have the proper camera angles on the two
- 50:43Speaker 5: point play that showed maybe Syracuse didn't get in on
- 50:47Speaker 5: the two point conversion. And I'm with you. They might
- 50:49Speaker 5: not have gotten in. But the fact that Carolina blew
- 50:52Speaker 5: a double-digit lead in the fourth quarter to Syracuse, who
- 50:56Speaker 5: was on an 11-game conference losing streak, you can't let
- 51:00Speaker 5: it come down to a camera angle. And I think
- 51:04Speaker 5: the frustration with North Carolina is you have Bill Belichick.
- 51:07Speaker 5: You had Lombardi like Lombardi was the highest paid GM
- 51:11Speaker 5: in college football. Bill Belichick is a top 10 highest
- 51:14Speaker 5: paid college coach right now in college football. You have
- 51:18Speaker 5: teams like Kentucky and UCLA having their teams in playoff
- 51:22Speaker 5: contention when they hire Bob Chesney and Will Stein and
- 51:26Speaker 5: North Carolina. They are paying. for championship results. And they're
- 51:32Speaker 5: asking everybody for like rebuilding patients where I can admit
- 51:36Speaker 5: North Carolina is significantly better than they are last year.
- 51:40Speaker 5: That at this point last year, this North Carolina team
- 51:43Speaker 5: is a lot more competitive. Are we paying for just competitive?
- 51:46Speaker 5: Because North Carolina is paying Bill Belichick like he's supposed
- 51:49Speaker 5: to be Marcus Freeman or Ryan Day.
- 51:52Speaker 3: Kentucky took a second to kind of build, right? Like
- 51:55Speaker 3: it did. It took a minute.
- 51:57Speaker 1: UCLA, it took a minute kind of to build for
- 52:00Speaker 1: Bob Chesney. But your larger point is right. North Carolina is,
- 52:04Speaker 1: at the very least, they're paying top dollar for both
- 52:07Speaker 1: to their GM and their coach, not to be in
- 52:09Speaker 1: that situation against a lousy, terrible Syracuse team and to
- 52:13Speaker 1: be in playoff contention. And in college football, we've seen it. God,
- 52:16Speaker 1: have we seen it? We've seen it at Indiana. We're
- 52:18Speaker 1: seeing it right now at Northwestern. The change needs to
- 52:21Speaker 1: happen quickly. It's not a rebuild of three to four years. Hey,
- 52:25Speaker 1: be patient with me. You're Bill bleeping Belichick. Fix it
- 52:28Speaker 1: and fix it right now, right?
- 52:30Speaker 5: Yeah, Bob Chesney and Will Stein weren't at their schools
- 52:33Speaker 5: this time last season.
- 52:35Speaker 3: Right, there you go.
- 52:36Speaker 5: Stop my problem with north carolina right now is if
- 52:40Speaker 5: you had a young coach okay i i could get
- 52:43Speaker 5: behind the rebuilding process but right now i want people
- 52:47Speaker 5: to stop talking about this north carolina team like like
- 52:50Speaker 5: it's some long-term process that that we don't understand bill
- 52:54Speaker 5: belichick's one of the oldest coaches in college football right
- 52:56Speaker 5: and we are paying him like like north carolina should
- 52:59Speaker 5: be in the acc title pitcher and instead we're losing
- 53:03Speaker 5: to angelia and fran brown And they were up double
- 53:08Speaker 5: digits in the fourth quarter. Like, that's a game you
- 53:11Speaker 5: should get that home across the finish line every time.
- 53:14Speaker 4: Yes.
- 53:15Speaker 1: What do you mean they didn't have the right camera angles?
- 53:17Speaker 1: I'm confused by that.
- 53:18Speaker 3: Like, what?
- 53:20Speaker 5: So they were going to the ACC replay center.
- 53:23Speaker 3: I'm tired of replay centers, by the way.
- 53:25Speaker 1: I mean, a bunch of guys talking and no one
- 53:27Speaker 1: figuring anything out. I mean, it's not enough.
- 53:29Speaker 5: I don't need them going to the replay center. It
- 53:31Speaker 5: just makes me more angry because the guy in the
- 53:34Speaker 5: replay center is like, do we have any other angles
- 53:36Speaker 5: in this? And then they're flipping through the reviews and
- 53:39Speaker 5: it's like, no, I guess we don't have a better
- 53:41Speaker 5: look at this down the line where it's like, first off,
- 53:44Speaker 5: how don't you have a better look?
- 53:46Speaker 3: It is 2026.
- 53:46Speaker 5: We have pylon cams. We have ref cams. We have
- 53:50Speaker 5: every cam under the sun.
- 53:52Speaker 1: Forget about the technology. You have billions of dollars pouring
- 53:55Speaker 1: into the sport.
- 53:56Speaker 5: Yeah. Stu, I'm so embarrassed how excited I was about
- 53:59Speaker 5: this North Carolina team. They were up double digits in
- 54:02Speaker 5: the fourth quarter.
- 54:03Speaker 8: Yes.
- 54:03Speaker 5: And I'm like, okay, North Carolina, we avoided the potential
- 54:07Speaker 5: trap game against Syracuse. We have Miami coming to town
- 54:09Speaker 5: next week.
- 54:10Speaker 1: Right.
- 54:10Speaker 5: It's a game on Halloween. Let me start looking at flights. Luckily,
- 54:14Speaker 5: these airlines now have 24-hour cancellation policies. They do. Because
- 54:18Speaker 5: I booked that flight, and the second that game ended,
- 54:21Speaker 5: I said, I'm not going to Chapel Hill.
- 54:22Speaker 1: I'm going to cancel this flight.
- 54:23Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 54:24Speaker 1: You did so within the window, right, to get a
- 54:26Speaker 1: full refund? Not a flight credit. No one wants flight credits.
- 54:29Speaker 1: You want a full refund, you know?
- 54:31Speaker 5: Stu, the window could have been an hour, and I
- 54:35Speaker 5: was canceling that flight.
- 54:38Speaker 1: But you agree with me. I hate the flight credits
- 54:41Speaker 1: when I get them, you know? I always forget I
- 54:43Speaker 1: have them.
- 54:43Speaker 3: It's cash.
- 54:44Speaker 1: But I want my cash back, right? I have to
- 54:47Speaker 1: do it inside of 24 hours. Do you get the
- 54:49Speaker 1: travel insurance that's always recommended?
- 54:51Speaker 10: No.
- 54:51Speaker 2: No?
- 54:51Speaker 10: No.
- 54:52Speaker 7: No.
- 54:52Speaker 1: Who gets that?
- 54:54Speaker 5: I think that every time I see it where it's like–
- 54:57Speaker 5: I don't know one time– I guess, knock on wood,
- 55:00Speaker 5: I must be lucky that I haven't had to use it.
- 55:04Speaker 5: There has not been one instance that I could think
- 55:06Speaker 5: of in my lifetime, in my 32 years on this planet,
- 55:09Speaker 5: where I would have ever had to use that airline
- 55:13Speaker 5: insurance where it's like, check this box, $ 82. $ 82? $ 82.
- 55:17Speaker 2: Right.
- 55:17Speaker 5: Yes.
- 55:18Speaker 9: $ 82.
- 55:18Speaker 5: Yes. But it's spending that somewhere else, but it's highly recommended.
- 55:22Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 55:23Speaker 5: And they got the, like the reviews on it. Like, Oh,
- 55:25Speaker 5: this customer says it's very helpful. I'm not clicking on that.
- 55:28Speaker 8: Right.
- 55:28Speaker 3: Because you're jumping on your flight and they're taking your
- 55:30Speaker 3: extra $ 82.
- 55:30Speaker 6: Right.
- 55:31Speaker 4: Yes.
- 55:33Speaker 5: When it comes to airlines, I am as basic as
- 55:35Speaker 5: it comes. I'm not selecting my seat. I'm not checking
- 55:38Speaker 5: a bag. Whatever the flight price is, that is what
- 55:43Speaker 5: I am spending and not a dollar more.
- 55:45Speaker 3: You mean whatever the basic package is?
- 55:47Speaker 4: Yes.
- 55:47Speaker 5: Don't ask me to upgrade. Don't ask me to flex
- 55:50Speaker 5: to the premium option.
- 55:53Speaker 4: What was that called?
- 55:55Speaker 3: You're making me laugh so hard that all the phlegm from.
- 55:58Speaker 1: The weekend just came up.
- 56:01Speaker 5: That jolted me.
- 56:03Speaker 4: It jolted me.
- 56:04Speaker 1: I didn't know I had that in me, although I
- 56:06Speaker 1: should know that I had that in me.
- 56:07Speaker 3: I put it in me.
- 56:08Speaker 4: On a daily basis.
- 56:16Speaker 3: I'm disgusting. Have a great night, everyone.
