- 0:17Speaker 1: Saint Hawks. It's Michael Bumpas with a diving catching the
- 0:21Speaker 1: end zone. Our ten yard touchdown reception for Pumpas and
- 0:25Speaker 1: the kid out of Washington State has found himself a
- 0:29Speaker 1: place on this team. Powered by Seahawks dot Com. One
- 0:34Speaker 1: of twelves. This is Hawk Talk Preview edition, Week fourteen.
- 0:38Speaker 1: The Seahawks look to bounce back against the O and
- 0:41Speaker 1: twelve Jets. Before we get into audap here's Nasa Choby,
- 0:45Speaker 1: which injury of days, thanks bump Well. Before we get
- 0:47Speaker 1: into injuries, the Seahawks did make some roster moves this week.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Quarterback Alex McGoo, a seventh round pick in twenty eighteen,
- 0:54Speaker 1: is back with the Seahawks, joining the practice squad on Wednesday. Mccoose,
- 0:57Speaker 1: spending his rookie season on Seattle's practice squad, then spent
- 1:00Speaker 1: twenty nineteen training camp in Jacksonville before joining Houston's practice
- 1:04Speaker 1: squad earlier this year. Additionally, two players have been designated
- 1:07Speaker 1: to return or practice this week, running back Rashad Penny
- 1:10Speaker 1: in cornerback Quentin Dunbar, which is awesome news. Remember said
- 1:14Speaker 1: Penny towards acl against the Rams last December, so this
- 1:17Speaker 1: will be his first time on the practice field with
- 1:19Speaker 1: the team in a really long time, so good to
- 1:21Speaker 1: see him back. Quentin Dunbar has not been active since
- 1:23Speaker 1: the Bills game. He's been hammered with a knee injury,
- 1:26Speaker 1: so good to see those guys on the practice field.
- 1:28Speaker 1: On the injury front, Pete Carroll gave us an update
- 1:30Speaker 1: on Brandon Shell, Jamarco Jones, and Ryan Neil. Brandon's gonna
- 1:34Speaker 1: work today at practice, so that's a good sign reason
- 1:37Speaker 1: back in. He's really anxious to get back and it
- 1:40Speaker 1: seems like he's ready to go. It's gonna take all
- 1:42Speaker 1: the way to the end of the week on Ryan,
- 1:44Speaker 1: and the other guy was Jamarco. Yeah, Jamarco, We're gonna
- 1:48Speaker 1: it's gonna take us all week to know. On Jamarco. Also,
- 1:51Speaker 1: they're neither one of those guys are out right now,
- 1:53Speaker 1: but we got to make sure that you know, we
- 1:55Speaker 1: get enough time to check him out, and I can't
- 1:56Speaker 1: tell you yet, all right, and before we get into it,
- 1:58Speaker 1: make sure to join us each and every third day
- 2:00Speaker 1: from noon to two for the Huddle, hosted by Jake
- 2:02Speaker 1: and Stacy along with Seahawks Colorado State Woman. It's your
- 2:05Speaker 1: chance to hear directly from the Seahawks players as they
- 2:07Speaker 1: prepare for Sunday. In previous the Game Ahead with the
- 2:10Speaker 1: voice of the Seahawks, Steve Rabel. As you mentioned, it's
- 2:13Speaker 1: week fourteen. The Hawks taken on the Jets. Who's next?
- 2:17Speaker 1: Who's stacks? Who's snacks? The owe and twelve? But New
- 2:26Speaker 1: York Jets are next. They are fourth placed in the
- 2:28Speaker 1: NFC East. I've never been more anxious for a football game. Well,
- 2:33Speaker 1: I have, but it's been a while. Man. These guys
- 2:35Speaker 1: are owing twelve. They got shut out by the Miami Dolphins,
- 2:38Speaker 1: a professional football team. Getting shut out just isn't good. Okay,
- 2:42Speaker 1: let let's go through the elves. Okay. They lost to
- 2:44Speaker 1: the Bills, the Niners, the Colts, the Broncos and Cardinals.
- 2:47Speaker 1: The Dolphins, the Bills against the Chiefs, the Patriots, the Chargers,
- 2:51Speaker 1: Miami Las Vegas. They almost got to win last week
- 2:54Speaker 1: against Las Vegas, but Greg Williams decided to send the
- 2:57Speaker 1: house on the last play of the game and allow
- 3:00Speaker 1: us to get over the top of score a touchdown.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Now people will focus on the blitz, but that corners
- 3:06Speaker 1: still gotta b d Man. If I'm that corner, I'm
- 3:08Speaker 1: sitting at thirty five and I'm backpedaling, I'm not taking
- 3:11Speaker 1: I'm not biting on anything. They gave that game away.
- 3:14Speaker 1: They could be one in eleven right now. Instead they're
- 3:16Speaker 1: on twelve. That is one of the most painful things
- 3:18Speaker 1: I've witnessed with my two eyes on a professional football field.
- 3:21Speaker 1: First of all, let's let's bring everyone back. If you
- 3:23Speaker 1: miss the game, Here's how it happened. Jets, they're up
- 3:26Speaker 1: twenty twenty four. There's five thirty four in the game.
- 3:28Speaker 1: The Raiders take the ball, they drive fourteen play sixty
- 3:31Speaker 1: six yards. They get stopped on fourth and three with
- 3:33Speaker 1: one forty two left. You think the game's over at
- 3:35Speaker 1: that point, Well not so fast. Next possession, the Jets
- 3:38Speaker 1: have the ball to wrap. They run it three times.
- 3:40Speaker 1: You know I'm not mad at them for doing that.
- 3:41Speaker 1: You want to make them burn their time outs. Boom,
- 3:43Speaker 1: you pump the ball back forty two seconds and then,
- 3:46Speaker 1: as you mentioned, Bump, it is third in ten. It
- 3:50Speaker 1: is third in ten from the forty six yard line,
- 3:52Speaker 1: and somehow the Jets allow this to happen. Car takes
- 3:57Speaker 1: the snap. Here comes it all out blitz. Some of
- 4:00Speaker 1: the unloads, one down the left sideline looking for Rugs
- 4:04Speaker 1: drops it in touchdown. Are you kidding me? Henry Rugs
- 4:10Speaker 1: down the sideline and Car finds him for a go
- 4:13Speaker 1: ahead touchdown with five seconds to go. Now, that's unbelievable, Bob. Unbelievable.
- 4:20Speaker 1: How you can allow a receiver to get behind you unbelievable. So,
- 4:29Speaker 1: I mean they said it right. I can just feel
- 4:30Speaker 1: the pain. It is unbelievable. People were talking a couple
- 4:33Speaker 1: of weeks ago getting on the Seahawks and Pete Carroll
- 4:35Speaker 1: and Shoddy for not going for a fourth down against
- 4:39Speaker 1: the Rams. People out there pretend like thousand malpractice. What
- 4:41Speaker 1: we saw on Sunday was malpractice. Never ever, that shouldn't
- 4:46Speaker 1: happen on any level of football. And you're right, Bump,
- 4:49Speaker 1: You're right. You should not have ever called an all
- 4:52Speaker 1: outblits in that situation. It's you're essentially you can only
- 4:55Speaker 1: lose by giving up a touchdown. Send your boys back
- 4:57Speaker 1: way and try to bath the ball down, but you
- 5:00Speaker 1: get the nail on the head as a corner, as
- 5:01Speaker 1: a defensive back of the National Football Way, you look
- 5:03Speaker 1: at the time and score, you say, okay, the only
- 5:05Speaker 1: thing that I can't do is give up a touchdown.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Why are you jumping on a double move? You should
- 5:10Speaker 1: be like you said he was at thirty pedaling on
- 5:13Speaker 1: the snap, back, pedal, back back, nothing gets behind you.
- 5:17Speaker 1: That was so irresponsible, Greg Williams, slowly responsible. Why put
- 5:21Speaker 1: your team in that situation and that corner? I don't
- 5:24Speaker 1: know who he is, blessed, it's hard. You've played football
- 5:26Speaker 1: for at least eight years. I'm just gonna throw it
- 5:29Speaker 1: out there. He's playing for at least eight years. And
- 5:31Speaker 1: if you played for at least eight years, you know
- 5:33Speaker 1: you just don't get vd in those situations. The Jets man,
- 5:38Speaker 1: I kind of feel bad for him, but then I
- 5:40Speaker 1: don't because I just look at what's going on upstairs
- 5:43Speaker 1: the coaching staff. It's just a debac over there. No
- 5:46Speaker 1: wonder why Jamal wants to get out shell got out
- 5:49Speaker 1: of there. Poor George Fan is over there, enduring. We
- 5:52Speaker 1: love George Fan. Keep ahead of McDougall's over there. This
- 5:56Speaker 1: is craziness going on with the Jets. But that's why
- 5:58Speaker 1: they scare me, because a wounded animal will do some
- 6:02Speaker 1: crazy things. And these guys are clearly wounded, and they
- 6:05Speaker 1: just get rid of decordinators, so maybe they're rejuvenated. I
- 6:08Speaker 1: don't know. You look at him, I don't see much.
- 6:10Speaker 1: But let's look at this head to head comparison, all right,
- 6:13Speaker 1: So total offense, Hawks are ranked eighth. They're thirty second,
- 6:19Speaker 1: only averaging in two hundred and seventy six yards per game.
- 6:22Speaker 1: When it comes to the rush offense, they put up
- 6:24Speaker 1: one hundred and six. That's nineteen. The Hawks rush for
- 6:26Speaker 1: one sixteen that's thirteenth. Pass offense rut the Seahawks are
- 6:30Speaker 1: number eight with two sixty nine. The Jets are thirty second.
- 6:34Speaker 1: I'm you know what, I'm just looking at the rankings.
- 6:36Speaker 1: I'm just gonna tell you the rankings offense and defenses
- 6:39Speaker 1: go down the line. He's a Jets thirty two, nineteen,
- 6:41Speaker 1: thirty two, thirty two, twenty nine, eleven, thirty one, thirty Man,
- 6:44Speaker 1: they stay in the thirties when it comes to the
- 6:46Speaker 1: rankings offensive defense, they are in the thirty. They're in
- 6:49Speaker 1: the thirty thirty club. That's why this team shouldn't beat us.
- 6:52Speaker 1: But I'm still nervous. Why am I nervous? NASA Trophy.
- 6:56Speaker 1: You're nervous because they're a professional football team, and when
- 6:59Speaker 1: you're on twelve, there's you have nothing else to lose.
- 7:03Speaker 1: I played on some really bad college football teams seasons,
- 7:07Speaker 1: win many games. So uh. But when you have that mentality,
- 7:11Speaker 1: you have nothing to lose, you can go out there
- 7:13Speaker 1: and take chances. You can run cover zero blitzes with
- 7:17Speaker 1: a game on the line because you have nothing to lose.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Your OO and twelve. But honestly, I mean, yeah, you
- 7:23Speaker 1: look at you look at these numbers. You're just saying,
- 7:25Speaker 1: there's no way. They average fifteen points a game. That's
- 7:27Speaker 1: dead last sea in the National Football League, And that
- 7:29Speaker 1: got a little bump last week because they scored a
- 7:30Speaker 1: couple of points. Um, they're allowing twenty nine points a game.
- 7:33Speaker 1: I mean they statistically, they don't really do anything well.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Rush rush defense is the only thing that they do well. Um,
- 7:42Speaker 1: but again, they get coached. They and honestly, my whole
- 7:46Speaker 1: thing is is I bet most of the guys on
- 7:49Speaker 1: that team you're playing for your NFL life. So that's
- 7:52Speaker 1: that's the thing that scares me a little bit because
- 7:54Speaker 1: it's like, listen, what you're trying to put on a film,
- 7:56Speaker 1: it's an audition. Whether it's with the Jets or another
- 7:59Speaker 1: football team. You don't want to be the reason people
- 8:01Speaker 1: look at the film and say, oh, that's why they're
- 8:03Speaker 1: own twelve because that guy, because of that guy, because
- 8:05Speaker 1: you don't want to be that guy. So they're going
- 8:07Speaker 1: out there and they're professionals and they're gonna do everything
- 8:09Speaker 1: they can to put on film, put on a resume,
- 8:13Speaker 1: show that like I should be in this league and
- 8:15Speaker 1: we're own twelve because everyone else and not because of me.
- 8:18Speaker 1: So that's what makes him dangerous. But we can talk
- 8:22Speaker 1: ourselves into as much as we want. Man, they're own
- 8:24Speaker 1: twelve for a reason, and the Seahawks need to treat
- 8:28Speaker 1: them as such, and twelve treatment as such domine We
- 8:32Speaker 1: need a dominant performance. Let's talk about their history, No,
- 8:36Speaker 1: your history. Well, Seahawks lead the series eleven and eight
- 8:41Speaker 1: all time. I won the last three meetings. The last
- 8:43Speaker 1: matchup was a twenty seven to seventeen Seahawks win in
- 8:46Speaker 1: MetLife Stadium. Back in twenty sixteen, Russell Wilson, he had
- 8:50Speaker 1: himself a day going twenty three for thirty two, three
- 8:52Speaker 1: hundred nine yards, three touchdowns, no picks. Jimmy Graham, I
- 8:56Speaker 1: know you twelves out there always just wanted to just
- 8:58Speaker 1: drag him through the mud as if he did nothing
- 9:00Speaker 1: for this football team. He had six receptions one hundred
- 9:02Speaker 1: and thirteen yards on that day, but other than that,
- 9:05Speaker 1: it was kind of weird. Man, there's some unusual suspects
- 9:08Speaker 1: catching touchdowns better than running back C. J. Spiller. A
- 9:11Speaker 1: lot of people forget that he played for the Seahawks
- 9:13Speaker 1: for briestin and time. Christen Michael and Hanner McAvoy all
- 9:17Speaker 1: caught touchdowns for the Seahawks that day. And then defensively,
- 9:22Speaker 1: Richard Sherman he had two picks and just a little
- 9:25Speaker 1: tip of the calf to Steve Rabel for calling this
- 9:27Speaker 1: out back in twenty sixteen, man oh Man. Richard Sherman,
- 9:32Speaker 1: Now he's angry. Now they're gonna throw on his direction.
- 9:34Speaker 1: He's gonna get a pick six. You watch Fitzpatrick takes
- 9:37Speaker 1: a shotgun snap four man rush She's gonna throw left again.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Hen Sherman picks it off right in front of Brandon Marshall.
- 9:45Speaker 1: I try go back one more time, man, trying number
- 9:49Speaker 1: twenty five. You don't make that man angry. The Seahawks
- 9:53Speaker 1: get the ball at their own thirty eight yard line. Well,
- 9:58Speaker 1: shout out Rabes. You know, every once while he gets
- 10:00Speaker 1: that thing right, gets that thing right. So no, your history,
- 10:02Speaker 1: the history of the Seahawks have won more than they've lost.
- 10:05Speaker 1: They need to keep that up this weekend. All right,
- 10:08Speaker 1: we know the history. Let's see what's going on in
- 10:10Speaker 1: the division and the Seahawks or the NFC West Champs again.
- 10:19Speaker 1: What's the word in the West on Hawk talk? What's
- 10:24Speaker 1: the word? I'll tell you what it is. The La
- 10:26Speaker 1: Rams sit on top of the division at eight and four,
- 10:28Speaker 1: of the Seahawks for eight and four, Cardinals are in
- 10:31Speaker 1: third at six and six, and the Niners are five
- 10:34Speaker 1: and seven. It was a rough weekend for the Seahawks.
- 10:37Speaker 1: They lost to the Giants, but the Saints and Packers
- 10:40Speaker 1: and the Rams all won, meaning the Seahawks, while having
- 10:43Speaker 1: the same record as the Rams, find themselves second in
- 10:46Speaker 1: the division. They gotta win this tie breaker first let's
- 10:49Speaker 1: get I don't let me. I'm getting ahead of myself.
- 10:51Speaker 1: Take care of the Jets first in the Washington football team,
- 10:53Speaker 1: and then you worry about those rams. So if the
- 10:56Speaker 1: playoffs were to start today, the Hawks will travel to
- 10:58Speaker 1: New York to play the Giants in the wild card.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Don't worry. The playoffs don't start today. There's still some
- 11:03Speaker 1: games that need to be played. But I like that
- 11:06Speaker 1: matchup at that word to go down. I feel like
- 11:08Speaker 1: the Hawks would get it done. Then get at the
- 11:10Speaker 1: Giants in get some revenge because that was an ugly game.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Ugly game. But this weekend it was rough on the Hawks. Man. Yeah,
- 11:17Speaker 1: they didn't take care of business. Everyone else did. They
- 11:19Speaker 1: had to be sick flying home. I'm not flying up
- 11:22Speaker 1: driving home because they were at home. Yeah, no, it's tough.
- 11:24Speaker 1: Like you said, we didn't get any help. The Saints
- 11:26Speaker 1: take care of business. You were hoping the way the
- 11:28Speaker 1: Falcons were playing that they would give us a little
- 11:30Speaker 1: help before Drew Brees comes back. Packers took care of business.
- 11:33Speaker 1: The Eagles are struggling for answers. Shout out to Bump
- 11:36Speaker 1: for calling Jalen Hursts to start this entire season. It's
- 11:38Speaker 1: finally gonna happen over there, and then the Rams one
- 11:42Speaker 1: and they and they want pretty handily was jump into
- 11:44Speaker 1: that matchup against the Cardinals. I mean they beat him
- 11:46Speaker 1: thirty eight twenty eight in Arizona. Game started off well
- 11:49Speaker 1: for the Cardinals. Kylin Murray found Dan Arnold for fifty
- 11:52Speaker 1: nine yard touchdown in the opening drive. They took a
- 11:54Speaker 1: seven oh lead. That was the last time they'd be
- 11:57Speaker 1: in the lead for the rest of the ball game.
- 11:59Speaker 1: And last week I asked you, I said, has the
- 12:02Speaker 1: league figured out Kyler Murray or what have they figured
- 12:05Speaker 1: out Cliff Kingsbury. Well, in that game, you have three
- 12:08Speaker 1: touchdown passes twenty one for thirty nine only one hundred
- 12:11Speaker 1: and seventy three yards through a pick, pick six and
- 12:14Speaker 1: loss of fumble bumps. So is that trend continuing? Is
- 12:17Speaker 1: this more in Kingsbury? Are we still thinking about Murray
- 12:19Speaker 1: and he has to find a way to reinvent himself here? Well,
- 12:22Speaker 1: when you throw for three touchdowns, I mean it's not
- 12:25Speaker 1: a horrible game. We would have we would have taken
- 12:27Speaker 1: this performance from Russell Wilson last week one thirty nine,
- 12:30Speaker 1: one seventy three, three touchdowns, We would have taken that
- 12:33Speaker 1: with him is more going through your reads because he's
- 12:37Speaker 1: so used. This arm talent is crazy, right, he can
- 12:39Speaker 1: make every throw out there. He has a safety blanket
- 12:41Speaker 1: in DeAndre Hopkins. So now it's just figuring out how
- 12:44Speaker 1: to get all your receivers involved. Now, the Cardinals have
- 12:47Speaker 1: lost three of the four last games. If you take
- 12:49Speaker 1: away the hell Mary passed, that would have been five
- 12:54Speaker 1: straight losses. It would have been five straight five straight else,
- 13:00Speaker 1: which isn't good. You know what it is. It's that
- 13:03Speaker 1: and they're kind of dealing with what the what the
- 13:05Speaker 1: Hawks deal with. You know, everything's new. With fresh beginning
- 13:07Speaker 1: of the season, you're able just to go out there
- 13:09Speaker 1: and play some football. And then at some point coaches
- 13:11Speaker 1: got to coach. Players have to adjust so to the coaches,
- 13:14Speaker 1: and I don't think we're seeing that out of the Cardinals.
- 13:16Speaker 1: And they have a young head coach, Kingsbury. He's gonna
- 13:18Speaker 1: figure this thing out. I like Kingsbury. I like his
- 13:21Speaker 1: style of play. When he has the right guys in
- 13:24Speaker 1: his personnels, I think he's good to go. But this
- 13:26Speaker 1: is adjustments. This is the NFL. No one's perfect. The
- 13:29Speaker 1: Steelers lost to the Washington football team all right, Washington
- 13:31Speaker 1: got a good defense, but the Steelers thinking at L two.
- 13:33Speaker 1: So you just gotta get ready to go every day. Now,
- 13:36Speaker 1: Robert was in Cooper Cuck combined for eighteen receptions one
- 13:39Speaker 1: hundred and fifty eight yards. I'm still gonna say Cups underrated.
- 13:43Speaker 1: He needs to get more involved. He's not scoring touchdowns.
- 13:46Speaker 1: They're treating him as a possession receiver. But I feel
- 13:48Speaker 1: like he has more than that in the tank. Now,
- 13:51Speaker 1: the forty nine Ers and the Bills came out hot.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Forty Niners came out swim there. Okay, Niners, Okay, do
- 13:57Speaker 1: your thing. Show the Bills what's up. But as a
- 14:00Speaker 1: game progressed to progress. Josh Allen started looking better and better. Now,
- 14:06Speaker 1: I wasn't a believer than Josh Allen. I still don't
- 14:08Speaker 1: think he's an MVP type guy, but every year he's progressed,
- 14:11Speaker 1: he's gotten better and better. And went for the forty
- 14:13Speaker 1: nine Ers. They have two of the best receivers in
- 14:16Speaker 1: the division right now, Deebo, Samuel bren and I you
- 14:20Speaker 1: Next year, I think they're gonna be one of the
- 14:21Speaker 1: best duels in the league. But you have Nick Mullins,
- 14:23Speaker 1: who tends to turn the ball over. I saw a
- 14:25Speaker 1: stat that game. Within his first what something like seventeen games,
- 14:30Speaker 1: eighteen games or something like that, he's third all time
- 14:33Speaker 1: in passing yards. So Nick Mullins has been getting it done,
- 14:37Speaker 1: but he turns the ball over, and they just need
- 14:40Speaker 1: more help and he need to need a better quarterback.
- 14:42Speaker 1: Kittle needs to be back. They just need more help
- 14:44Speaker 1: over there. Yeah, they're running. They were into the Bills.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Who are There's a good football team. I mean the Seahawks.
- 14:49Speaker 1: We figure that out down in Buffalo. Josh Allen, the
- 14:52Speaker 1: thing about him as he used to turn them all over,
- 14:54Speaker 1: which is kind of his kryptonite. He hasn't been doing
- 14:56Speaker 1: that as much lately, so he's Josh Allen's the ball
- 14:58Speaker 1: are just straight up, Like you said, not VP candidate,
- 15:00Speaker 1: but he's definitely a baller and he's probably gonna lead
- 15:02Speaker 1: them to their first division title since back in the nineties.
- 15:05Speaker 1: So it's been a minute. And then you talk about
- 15:07Speaker 1: the Niners. The thing that scares me about them is, look,
- 15:13Speaker 1: the Seahawks. We talked all year about this stretch of games,
- 15:15Speaker 1: which is when we were gonna make our Hey right here, right,
- 15:18Speaker 1: you got the Giants, You got the Jazz the Washington
- 15:19Speaker 1: football team. We played the Eagles week before. You knew
- 15:22Speaker 1: he had a tough game against the Rams. The Cardinals
- 15:24Speaker 1: are kind of slipping in the forty Niners. But the
- 15:27Speaker 1: thing is, if the Niners get Jimmy g and Kittle
- 15:31Speaker 1: back there, they have enough guys that are healthy that
- 15:34Speaker 1: can that looks like part of the shelf of the
- 15:36Speaker 1: team that they used to be most Sert's back, right,
- 15:39Speaker 1: Sherman's playing. That game's gonna be tough. And the Seahawks
- 15:43Speaker 1: are an end of the season with two division games.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Obviously you have to beat the Rams to have any
- 15:46Speaker 1: chance to win the division. But you can't sleep on
- 15:49Speaker 1: those Niners. I buried them, had a funeral for them
- 15:52Speaker 1: earlier this season. They're gonna try to wake up from
- 15:55Speaker 1: the dead and try to play spoiler and upset alert
- 15:58Speaker 1: for against you know, the Rams and the Seahawks down
- 16:00Speaker 1: the stretch. But it'll be interesting. Obviously, keep an eye
- 16:04Speaker 1: on the forty nine ers because for whatever reason, they're
- 16:06Speaker 1: not dead, and if they get those guys back, it's
- 16:07Speaker 1: gonna be tough game. It's amazing what a couple of
- 16:10Speaker 1: weeks due to you a couple of weeks ago or
- 16:12Speaker 1: Ryan High. Let's just get through this stretch. Where good
- 16:15Speaker 1: to go. But that's the NFL forty man, you gotta
- 16:17Speaker 1: come ready to play, even this week against the Owen
- 16:20Speaker 1: twelve Jets. All right, let's look at these matchups. Man up?
- 16:25Speaker 1: Is this mass? This man up? On Hawk Talk? Sam
- 16:36Speaker 1: Darnold University of Southern California. He had that amazing game
- 16:42Speaker 1: against Penn Stadium. The Rose Bull kind of got everyone
- 16:44Speaker 1: on his head. That's why he gets drafted third overall
- 16:46Speaker 1: to the New York Jets. Third year quarterback. He's been
- 16:50Speaker 1: banged up a little bit this year. He's one forty
- 16:53Speaker 1: two for two, forty one for fourteen hundred twenty yards
- 16:56Speaker 1: five touchdowns in nine interceptions, Still in decent athlete. Twenty
- 17:01Speaker 1: three carries hundred and seventy three yards two touchdowns. While
- 17:04Speaker 1: he's been playing in those nine games, he's been sacked
- 17:07Speaker 1: twenty five times and he's missed time with the should
- 17:11Speaker 1: unders who has been banged up a little bit. But
- 17:14Speaker 1: I don't know about Sam, because I thought he was
- 17:16Speaker 1: going to be a good quarterback in the NFL, and
- 17:19Speaker 1: I don't know how much is this of his play
- 17:22Speaker 1: this year and over his career in the NFL is
- 17:25Speaker 1: because of him or because of the organization. He plays
- 17:28Speaker 1: for different coordinators, different head coaches, moving pieces, seemingly dysfunction.
- 17:34Speaker 1: But when Donald's been in there, he's made some plays,
- 17:38Speaker 1: but overall he's really struggled. He struggled, man, and I'm
- 17:42Speaker 1: gonna blame I'm blaming the coaches With Sam Darnold, I'm
- 17:45Speaker 1: blaming the coaches because I see his arm talent, I
- 17:48Speaker 1: see his mobility. He'll do some things where you're like, man,
- 17:51Speaker 1: this dude can play football, but he just look at
- 17:52Speaker 1: what's around him. He just has no help. He has
- 17:55Speaker 1: no help. He's in the dysfunctional organization. Maybe he's from Calie,
- 17:58Speaker 1: So I'm showing him a little bit more le you
- 18:00Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. But Sam Donna, I'm gonna give
- 18:02Speaker 1: him the benefit of the doubt and to say, because
- 18:04Speaker 1: he's in this crazy organization called the New York Jets,
- 18:09Speaker 1: he's gonna struggle. What hurts that case is at Man,
- 18:12Speaker 1: you ain't put up thirty one time this year. This
- 18:14Speaker 1: team has not scored thirty points one time this year.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Your Jets are thirty second when it comes to overall offense.
- 18:23Speaker 1: You naturally want to put the onus on the quarterback,
- 18:26Speaker 1: which you probably should. They get paid the most at
- 18:29Speaker 1: the face of the football team. Also, he got Frank
- 18:32Speaker 1: Gore running the rock for him. Frank Gore, I love you,
- 18:34Speaker 1: Triple Og, been in the game forever, but come on,
- 18:37Speaker 1: he can't be your feature back. The fact you got
- 18:39Speaker 1: Frank Gore back there, you have Crowder at your number
- 18:42Speaker 1: one receiver. Again, Crowder not a bad ball player, but
- 18:45Speaker 1: he's just not a number one receiver. He don't have
- 18:47Speaker 1: a lot of help, but he is the quarterback, so
- 18:50Speaker 1: it has to take a lot of that blame. Well,
- 18:53Speaker 1: I just cannot wait for Hawksive don't forget to tune
- 18:56Speaker 1: in on Thursday night listening to Michael Bumps and palm
- 18:58Speaker 1: Ware breakdown the game, because we're gonna talk to somebody
- 19:01Speaker 1: from the New York media and I want you to
- 19:05Speaker 1: come with that same talk about Sam Darnold, and I
- 19:08Speaker 1: promise you you were going to get roasted, but you're
- 19:12Speaker 1: gonna be singing a completely different tune out there. Many
- 19:16Speaker 1: they weren't filming me last week with Ingram and the Giants,
- 19:19Speaker 1: and I'm I'm rocking with Sam. He needs help. Dude
- 19:22Speaker 1: has talent they're already talking about. They're already talking about
- 19:26Speaker 1: the own boy from Trevor Lawrence from Clemson. So it's like, yeah,
- 19:31Speaker 1: they're gonna draft him and jack his career up to
- 19:34Speaker 1: That's what the Jets due man. They don't help nobody
- 19:37Speaker 1: out all right. Next match of Russell Wilson versus the
- 19:40Speaker 1: Jets defense. Russell was three h five or four thirty
- 19:43Speaker 1: six thirty four hundred and seventy nine yards, thirty two touchdowns,
- 19:46Speaker 1: eleven interceptions. He has sixty eight carries for four hundred
- 19:49Speaker 1: twenty four yards and one touchdown. Russell had two turnovers
- 19:53Speaker 1: and struggled against the Giants defense last Sunday. We know
- 19:57Speaker 1: that he looked a bit confused. Maybe it's a concepts,
- 19:59Speaker 1: a lot of things going on. People put a lot
- 20:01Speaker 1: of to blame on Russell. Again, he's a quarterback. He
- 20:04Speaker 1: will get a lot of that, but there's things going
- 20:06Speaker 1: on around him. However, he's good following losses. He's thirty
- 20:09Speaker 1: three and nine in his career. After a loss, I
- 20:12Speaker 1: expect him to do a thing, especially against one of
- 20:15Speaker 1: the worst defenses in the NFL at this point. The
- 20:18Speaker 1: Jets ranked twenty ninth when it comes to yards allowed
- 20:21Speaker 1: at three hundred and ninety eight yards per game, but
- 20:24Speaker 1: they are good against the run. So does that mean
- 20:28Speaker 1: we're gonna see Russell about forty seven times again? I
- 20:30Speaker 1: hope not, yeah, because I mean we talked about We've
- 20:33Speaker 1: talked about balance all year long, and balance isn't necessarily
- 20:36Speaker 1: fifty run fifty pass. But what it is they need
- 20:38Speaker 1: to work together. You need to each sets up each other.
- 20:42Speaker 1: The run has set the passing vice versa. But forty
- 20:45Speaker 1: seven is too much. Forty seven for damn near every quarterback,
- 20:50Speaker 1: maybe excluding Patrick Mahomes. I don't know. At forty seven,
- 20:52Speaker 1: you're not doing enough in the run game, whether it's
- 20:55Speaker 1: you're not going back to it enough. The thing about
- 20:58Speaker 1: it is so Ray was talking a lot about this
- 21:01Speaker 1: about how we didn't didn't feel like we've ran the
- 21:03Speaker 1: ball two times at all back to back throughout the
- 21:05Speaker 1: game against the Giants. There was one instance where we
- 21:08Speaker 1: did and we're going to run a third time, and
- 21:11Speaker 1: that was when Russ fumbled the snap or there was
- 21:13Speaker 1: that center exchange. So they need to do a better
- 21:15Speaker 1: job to take care of the football and not getting
- 21:17Speaker 1: into situations where you cannot run the football when it's
- 21:20Speaker 1: second and thirty five, I mean when it's third and fifteen,
- 21:24Speaker 1: I mean, just stay out of those situations. Don't get
- 21:26Speaker 1: behind the sticks. And you mentioned it, man, they're thirty
- 21:29Speaker 1: first and past defense, they're thirty and points allowed. They've
- 21:32Speaker 1: only sacked a posing quarterback twenty times. They're not good.
- 21:36Speaker 1: They haven't really stopped anyone this year. The one thing
- 21:39Speaker 1: that I will say, new defensive coordinator, I don't think
- 21:42Speaker 1: they're going to reinvent the wheel in one week. But
- 21:45Speaker 1: what I will say is if you've been on the
- 21:46Speaker 1: defensive staff and there maybe had all these calls in
- 21:49Speaker 1: your pockets saying, ah, we never run this, we haven't
- 21:51Speaker 1: done this. This your time to shine you. Guys haven't
- 21:53Speaker 1: won the game yet, so they could come out and
- 21:56Speaker 1: throw out some crazy stuff. We don't know yet because
- 21:59Speaker 1: they have to make they have to come up with
- 22:01Speaker 1: stuff to stop this offense. I think this is the
- 22:02Speaker 1: week we get right. Russell has a big game and
- 22:05Speaker 1: I'm looking forward to seeing it. I hope you are correct, sir.
- 22:09Speaker 1: The Jets are allowing twenty nine points per game. Let's
- 22:11Speaker 1: go ahead and put up thirty five on him. Let's
- 22:13Speaker 1: just get that down, all right, next matchup, Jets receiving
- 22:16Speaker 1: corps verse seahaw secondary. Now, yeah, Jamison Crowded forty receptions,
- 22:21Speaker 1: five hundred yards, five touchdowns. He's their lead receiver. I
- 22:23Speaker 1: see him as a number three. Rashad Perriman. Remember when
- 22:27Speaker 1: he was in his heyday, Man, he was a threat.
- 22:30Speaker 1: He's just not who he used to be. Twenty three receptions,
- 22:32Speaker 1: three hundred and seventy four yards, three touchdown. The Zelle
- 22:36Speaker 1: Mems nineteen receptions, three hundred twenty four yards, Brackson Barrios
- 22:41Speaker 1: twenty six receptions, two hundred and fifty six yards, two touchdowns.
- 22:44Speaker 1: They don't have any market names, they don't have any
- 22:47Speaker 1: down the threat guys. Now Crowder has I believe a
- 22:50Speaker 1: sixty three yard touchdown, But I was more like a
- 22:53Speaker 1: screen look where he made a guy missed. They were
- 22:54Speaker 1: man poo and we turn on the Jets and go.
- 22:57Speaker 1: But they dencon dunk down the field. There's no old
- 23:00Speaker 1: body who was going to put pressure on this Seahawks secondary.
- 23:05Speaker 1: I think this is the game, this is the game
- 23:08Speaker 1: where we have two or three turnovers on defense. Yeah,
- 23:11Speaker 1: I hope you're exactly right. I think I think we
- 23:12Speaker 1: gotta bring pressure. I think we gotta get Last week
- 23:15Speaker 1: we had a couple of sacks, not what we've been
- 23:17Speaker 1: seeing the last five or six weeks. I think we
- 23:19Speaker 1: gotta bring pressure. I could see Jamal Adams having this
- 23:23Speaker 1: man might have three sacks. He might have three sacks
- 23:25Speaker 1: in a strip sack force fun Will running back for
- 23:27Speaker 1: a touchdown. He's gonna be possessed. We'll talk about him
- 23:29Speaker 1: in just a second, but I think this defense is
- 23:31Speaker 1: gonna cause a lot of turnovers. I would look for
- 23:32Speaker 1: Shaquille Griffin to get a pick. If Quentin Dunbar's back,
- 23:36Speaker 1: I would look for him to be active. He's been running,
- 23:38Speaker 1: he's been rehabbing. He's gonna come back fresh. So this
- 23:41Speaker 1: looks like a week that the secondary continues to play well.
- 23:43Speaker 1: Quadri Dix has four interceptions on the year, so we'd
- 23:46Speaker 1: love to see that. Yeah. The next matchup Chris Carson
- 23:49Speaker 1: against the Jet Jets front seven. So Carson on the
- 23:52Speaker 1: year has got eighty seven carries for four hundred twenty
- 23:54Speaker 1: nine yards four touchdowns, twenty seven receptions two hundred ten
- 23:57Speaker 1: yards in four touchdowns. Carson's played eight games, but he's
- 24:01Speaker 1: really played in like six because you miss half the
- 24:04Speaker 1: game against the Cardals and then the game went over time.
- 24:06Speaker 1: In the last two weeks he's been on a pitch count.
- 24:08Speaker 1: He hasn't really gotten the full run of the work.
- 24:12Speaker 1: But I'm going to continue to say this. We talked
- 24:15Speaker 1: about balance. Chris Carson's guy that needs to touch the
- 24:17Speaker 1: ball twenty times, and I mean in those twenty he
- 24:21Speaker 1: needs to at least be targeted. So it's either that
- 24:23Speaker 1: could be fifteen runs, five passes. That can be twelve runs,
- 24:28Speaker 1: five receptions, but he's targeted three mores. He just needs
- 24:31Speaker 1: to be involved in a part of it, because when
- 24:34Speaker 1: he's not, it's just it almost feels like a waste
- 24:36Speaker 1: in our offense, is not doing our offensive justice. You know,
- 24:39Speaker 1: they'll get at the Jets, they'll play off, they'll place
- 24:42Speaker 1: cover two, they'll play some three, they'll play some man.
- 24:46Speaker 1: We got to be able to run the ball when
- 24:47Speaker 1: they're in cover two. And I looked at their safety
- 24:49Speaker 1: play whether they're in three or you know, cover zero,
- 24:52Speaker 1: man free, whatever they're in. Their safeties are deep. When
- 24:55Speaker 1: they have someone in center fields, he's thirty yards off
- 24:57Speaker 1: the ball. We need to be able to run the ball.
- 24:59Speaker 1: So I'm open that Chris Carson can get that done
- 25:01Speaker 1: on Sunday, I think he will. I think because the
- 25:06Speaker 1: Hawks lost against the Giants, they're like, okay, it's time
- 25:09Speaker 1: to let them go. If the Hawks would have beat
- 25:11Speaker 1: the Giants, that would have kept him on a pitch count.
- 25:13Speaker 1: At this point, the urgency is up. They need to go.
- 25:15Speaker 1: I think Carson's gonna touch the ball twenty times like
- 25:18Speaker 1: you are asking for him to do. Now. The Jets
- 25:20Speaker 1: are good against run, the ranked eleven in the NFL,
- 25:23Speaker 1: allowing one hundred and seven yards per game. So that's
- 25:25Speaker 1: one of the things they do well. I don't do
- 25:27Speaker 1: many things well. I think that's the only thing they
- 25:29Speaker 1: do well. Honestly, it's run defense. But there's a guy
- 25:33Speaker 1: named Chris Carson who usually makes the first guy mins,
- 25:36Speaker 1: who runs hard, who gets downhill, who I feel is
- 25:38Speaker 1: ready to get let loose. We're gonna see that this weekend.
- 25:41Speaker 1: I'm just gonna call it all right. Now, the next matchup,
- 25:43Speaker 1: we're looking at Jamal Adams and Brandon Shell against their
- 25:47Speaker 1: former team. Now there's no more Greg Williams. Remember all
- 25:50Speaker 1: that talk. Greg Williams said Jamal is gonna be bored
- 25:53Speaker 1: in their defense. Jamal ain't board man seven and a
- 25:56Speaker 1: half sacks, ten tackles for lost fifty eight tackles. He
- 25:59Speaker 1: is active. Now you listen to Pete Carroll talk, and
- 26:02Speaker 1: without listening to Pete Carroll Talk, you know Jamal Adams
- 26:05Speaker 1: is a little more vocal than Brandon Shell. Jamal Adams
- 26:07Speaker 1: are gonna talk to you on the sideline, pregame, post game,
- 26:10Speaker 1: so he'll be emotionally invested, he says. Brandon shells more
- 26:13Speaker 1: on the shy type, like, look, I'm just gonna show
- 26:15Speaker 1: up do my thing. So they're gonna balance each other out,
- 26:18Speaker 1: and I wonder if they're gonna have a conversation about this.
- 26:20Speaker 1: Doesn't even matter they're owing twelve. I understand you're playing
- 26:24Speaker 1: against your former team, but they're not very good. You
- 26:27Speaker 1: should ball out against him. I expect Jamal to do
- 26:30Speaker 1: what he does. It's gonna be hard to tell if
- 26:32Speaker 1: Jamal is emotionally just out of whack because he's a talker.
- 26:39Speaker 1: You see how he feels. He's wears his emotion on
- 26:41Speaker 1: his sleeve, so it's gonna be tough to tell. There
- 26:43Speaker 1: might be a little more juice there. Brandon Shell is
- 26:45Speaker 1: the one I'll pay more attention to because if he
- 26:48Speaker 1: is a little more amped up. You should be able
- 26:49Speaker 1: to see it. Yeah, And the thing about Brandon Shells,
- 26:52Speaker 1: I think it's more like the motivation for him is like,
- 26:55Speaker 1: y'all just pass on me. Y'all gave up. You said,
- 26:59Speaker 1: go sign George Fanta, gonna play tackle. And I think
- 27:02Speaker 1: that's where the motivation comes, like, nah, you gave up
- 27:04Speaker 1: on me. I'm in a better situation. I'm gonna show
- 27:06Speaker 1: you what you're missing. So he's gonna do everything he
- 27:08Speaker 1: can to be active and ready to go for this game.
- 27:11Speaker 1: And with Jamal, he's a professional. He's still gonna do
- 27:13Speaker 1: his thing. But I mean, I think if you talk
- 27:16Speaker 1: to him, you'd be lying to say you're not just
- 27:18Speaker 1: a little bit more jacked up, especially the way you
- 27:20Speaker 1: went out, you're coming back and who it's going to
- 27:23Speaker 1: be talking. I wish we could get Jamal miked up
- 27:26Speaker 1: this week because my goodness, he's gonna be talking and
- 27:29Speaker 1: every time he makes a play. So but I also
- 27:31Speaker 1: feel like that's gonna spread throughout the defense. I feel
- 27:34Speaker 1: like guys are gonna get pumped, They're gonna see him,
- 27:36Speaker 1: They're gonna want to play well defensively as a unit.
- 27:38Speaker 1: For Jamal for everyone get back on track. So I
- 27:41Speaker 1: think Jamal's gonna fall out. I'm just gonna call it here.
- 27:43Speaker 1: He is going to have three sacks and a force
- 27:45Speaker 1: fumble on Sunday Bucket. Write it down. You heard it
- 27:49Speaker 1: here from Nasa Shaalby three sacks and a forced fumble,
- 27:51Speaker 1: and I'm gonna say Shell doesn't give up any sacks
- 27:53Speaker 1: this none. He's gonna hold it down, lock it down,
- 27:56Speaker 1: and have a couple of pancakes in the run game.
- 27:58Speaker 1: You know he's gonna he's gonna be you know, yeah,
- 28:00Speaker 1: I'm feeling it. I'm feeling it. Good vibes were sending.
- 28:03Speaker 1: Good vibes were sending over there. All right, let's talk
- 28:05Speaker 1: about their path to victory. At the forty five waits
- 28:10Speaker 1: for the staff, Michael Vickton puts it down. That kick
- 28:13Speaker 1: is away. If that kick is goun, it's gun. It's
- 28:18Speaker 1: a path to victory. I'm hawk talk. First thing you
- 28:23Speaker 1: gotta do is take care of the team's just supposed
- 28:25Speaker 1: to be. Didn't do it last week, This is the
- 28:27Speaker 1: week to do it. Oh and twelve, no reason, there's
- 28:32Speaker 1: no threats on offense, aren't any threats on defense? And
- 28:35Speaker 1: have a good linebacker and Hughitt who has like one
- 28:37Speaker 1: hundred and three tackles. But there's no names out there
- 28:40Speaker 1: that just jump out at you and you're life. Man.
- 28:41Speaker 1: We gotta look after that guy. Quinnin Williams, the number
- 28:45Speaker 1: three pick in twenty nineteen draft at Alabama d tackle
- 28:47Speaker 1: is playing well as of late. Three sacks the last
- 28:49Speaker 1: three games. I get it, but there's no one there
- 28:53Speaker 1: that causes true concern. This is a team you should beat.
- 28:56Speaker 1: Go out and dominate from the from the warm up.
- 28:59Speaker 1: Dominate the warm up. I want you to go out.
- 29:02Speaker 1: How about everyone? If you got Abs gau out in
- 29:04Speaker 1: the DK half cut shirt. You know what I'm saying,
- 29:06Speaker 1: Flex on a real quick, do something from the jump.
- 29:10Speaker 1: Take care of this football team, no question about it.
- 29:12Speaker 1: I want to see all of that. I want to
- 29:13Speaker 1: see all the jews. I want to see all the
- 29:14Speaker 1: energy like you said I wanted starting in pregame and
- 29:16Speaker 1: get back to what you doing offense. Man. This offense
- 29:19Speaker 1: is explosive plays in the past game in a tough,
- 29:21Speaker 1: physical run game. Now we've lost some of those explosive
- 29:26Speaker 1: plays the last handful of weeks, and they're gonna get
- 29:28Speaker 1: back to doing that by playing off each other. You
- 29:30Speaker 1: get those explosive plays from being able to dominate the
- 29:32Speaker 1: run game. Get in their offensive line, engage in physical
- 29:35Speaker 1: and going and then vice versa. You hit some deep
- 29:37Speaker 1: balls in past game, then you can hand off to
- 29:38Speaker 1: Chris Carson. We need to get back to that. And
- 29:41Speaker 1: Russ needs to bounced back in a big way. I
- 29:43Speaker 1: think he will. And as you've been preaching all week,
- 29:45Speaker 1: let's mix in some of that short game. If they're
- 29:47Speaker 1: gonna play too high and stay off back, let's mix
- 29:50Speaker 1: in some of that short game and make them try
- 29:52Speaker 1: to jump some of those routes and beat him over
- 29:53Speaker 1: the top. Yes, and let's get after Sam Darnold. He
- 29:56Speaker 1: saw a ghost at one point of his career. Let's
- 29:59Speaker 1: bring those gos back. Man. I need a sound bitey yeah,
- 30:02Speaker 1: I see Ghost Part two featuring Sam Darnold. I need
- 30:05Speaker 1: that again. Okay, get after the kid. Make him use
- 30:09Speaker 1: all of his quarterback techniques. He asked to read ship.
- 30:13Speaker 1: I'm all about pre snap movement when it comes to
- 30:15Speaker 1: the defense. It's because it makes it makes off as
- 30:18Speaker 1: a line communicate and he might move the back. I mean,
- 30:20Speaker 1: make him get into his tool back, make him seaghost
- 30:23Speaker 1: get after Sam Darneld. He wants to turn the ball over.
- 30:26Speaker 1: We need about two from him. Oh yeah, no question
- 30:28Speaker 1: about him. Make him sea ghosts again. I love it
- 30:31Speaker 1: featuring the Seahawks defense as a starring role. Protect your
