Latest / Foul Territory / Bob Nightengale’s Hot Stove Update: Tucker’s Mets offer, Phillies pursuing Bo Bichette, 2B & SP market
Transcript
- 0:09Speaker 1: Nightingale's notes.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Here comes Bob Nightingale from USA Today and and FT
- 0:14Speaker 2: insider here joining us frequently. Bob, great to see you.
- 0:16Speaker 2: And let's start out with fifty million dollars per year
- 0:19Speaker 2: for Kyle Tucker. Do you think that's going to happen?
- 0:21Speaker 2: Do you think that he'll end up with the Mets
- 0:23Speaker 2: or this mystery long term Blue Jays offer will surface
- 0:28Speaker 2: and become the thing for him.
- 0:31Speaker 3: I think the Blue Jays make much more sense than
- 0:34Speaker 3: New York. I think he liked me in Toronto more
- 0:36Speaker 3: than New York. Kind of quiet personality. You know, the
- 0:40Speaker 3: Cubs weren't crazy about him, thought he was okay. I
- 0:42Speaker 3: think they thought or kind of hoping, you'd have more
- 0:45Speaker 3: outgoing personality with them. I think his whole demeanor fits
- 0:49Speaker 3: Toronto better than the Mets. And with your Mets, so
- 0:52Speaker 3: you're really going to have, you know, one hundred million
- 0:54Speaker 3: dollars worth of right fielders. You know, Tucker's defense is
- 0:58Speaker 3: starting to slip a little bit too, just like Soto's.
- 1:01Speaker 3: So I'd like him much better in Toronto than mess.
- 1:06Speaker 4: Wow, what's the hold up here? What's the whole if
- 1:08Speaker 4: you have three years of one hundred and fifty million,
- 1:10Speaker 4: fifty million a year on the table staring you in
- 1:14Speaker 4: the face of this report is true, and there's been
- 1:16Speaker 4: multiple people that have reported this. Why would you not
- 1:18Speaker 4: sign that? And if it has opt outs built into it,
- 1:21Speaker 4: you know, after year one, after year two, if you're
- 1:23Speaker 4: Kyle Tucker, are you really does he just want more
- 1:26Speaker 4: years to get a little bit more money. But I mean,
- 1:29Speaker 4: do what Peter Alonso did do it, Alex Bregmant did
- 1:31Speaker 4: do it, Blake Snell did do it, Mattchhaman did take
- 1:34Speaker 4: that one year, go out, have a great year and boom,
- 1:37Speaker 4: then re hit the free agent market a year later
- 1:38Speaker 4: and get that big long term contract.
- 1:41Speaker 1: I just think he wants to do that.
- 1:42Speaker 3: I don't think he wants to go through the whole
- 1:44Speaker 3: pre agent process again. You know, it's not a fun experience.
- 1:48Speaker 3: I'm sure he thought there'd be more offers and you
- 1:50Speaker 3: know what happened to those you know, four hundred and
- 1:52Speaker 3: five hundred million dollar you know deals that you know
- 1:55Speaker 3: were talked about last summer.
- 1:57Speaker 1: So I think he's waiting for the blue Jays up
- 1:59Speaker 1: the A. So okay, if the blue.
- 2:01Speaker 3: Jays are offered six or seven years, you know, get
- 2:05Speaker 3: them to hike it up. An they're five or ten
- 2:06Speaker 3: million a year, you know, obviously I can go to
- 2:09Speaker 3: the Mets level, but they can certainly raise it.
- 2:12Speaker 1: I think that's what he's waiting for.
- 2:14Speaker 5: But also, if it's fifty million a year, everybody feels
- 2:18Speaker 5: like the Dodgers can match that, And would the Dodgers
- 2:21Speaker 5: be willing to go to that because if that's the case,
- 2:24Speaker 5: is Tucker all the things you said about Tuckers he
- 2:27Speaker 5: a better fit in LA, not wanting to go to
- 2:29Speaker 5: New York and saying, hey, you know what I'm gonna
- 2:31Speaker 5: hop onto a world back to back World Series champions.
- 2:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean get you know, you get lost his
- 2:39Speaker 3: shuffle there, which I think he likes all the stars
- 2:41Speaker 3: in LA obviously in Toronto you got Blad Guerrero there.
- 2:45Speaker 3: I just think you of the Dodgers, hey just won
- 2:46Speaker 3: two ruled surges about the guy.
- 2:48Speaker 1: You don't need them.
- 2:49Speaker 3: Maybe nights lecture and to have you know, if he
- 2:52Speaker 3: wants to come as say forty years forty, maybe even
- 2:55Speaker 3: forty five, so be it. But I don't think they're saying, hey,
- 2:59Speaker 3: we're can get a Benning or with the Mets, do
- 3:01Speaker 3: you want to be here or not. Do you want
- 3:02Speaker 3: to win a World Series or not? You know, he
- 3:04Speaker 3: lives in the Tampa area too, so you would think
- 3:07Speaker 3: that with screen training, you know, both in Toronto and
- 3:10Speaker 3: New York and Florida, that's got to be a little
- 3:12Speaker 3: bit of advantage too, not having come all the way
- 3:15Speaker 3: to LA.
- 3:16Speaker 5: Is it possible? Obviously anything's possible, But is it possible
- 3:21Speaker 5: that there's another team that would be willing after everyone's
- 3:24Speaker 5: heard about this Mets offer to go that again? Not
- 3:28Speaker 5: maybe not a bidding war, but maybe in the forty
- 3:32Speaker 5: seven million dollars a year range.
- 3:35Speaker 1: I don't see it. You know. I checked with the
- 3:37Speaker 1: Houston I thought, well, maybe Houston might be that team.
- 3:40Speaker 3: It doesn't seem like, you know, they've they're interested in
- 3:44Speaker 3: bringing them back, certainly not that kind of money.
- 3:46Speaker 1: So there certainly could be, but I don't know where
- 3:48Speaker 1: it would be.
- 3:49Speaker 3: Uh, you know, it's not going to be Philadelphia or
- 3:52Speaker 3: some of these other big market teams, so I don't
- 3:55Speaker 3: think so. It's not the Cubs, So I think the
- 3:58Speaker 3: teams are hearing are really the only teams involved.
- 4:03Speaker 4: Bob with Toronto and you mentioned the AAV, do you
- 4:07Speaker 4: think they'll get to a point with Tucker, because they've
- 4:09Speaker 4: already done a lot of things this offseason with seas
- 4:12Speaker 4: and Ponts and some of these other things moves that
- 4:14Speaker 4: they've made, right, So do they have the money and
- 4:17Speaker 4: would Tucker? Would they have to choose between Tucker and Bashett,
- 4:21Speaker 4: And obviously they prefer Tucker over Bashett because of the
- 4:25Speaker 4: possibility of our show and Springer leaving at the.
- 4:27Speaker 1: End of the year.
- 4:29Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that's exactly what. I think They've already
- 4:31Speaker 3: made their choice. They want Tucker. I think Bichette's the
- 4:34Speaker 3: only chance to go back is that they don't get Tucker.
- 4:37Speaker 1: And I think Tucker wants to make a decision here
- 4:39Speaker 1: in the next few days too.
- 4:42Speaker 3: So yeah, they can certainly raise or offer I mean,
- 4:44Speaker 3: they're not going to raise it to fifty million dollars
- 4:46Speaker 3: a year, you know, you know, paying him like you
- 4:48Speaker 3: are one Soto, but they can certainly hit the forty
- 4:51Speaker 3: million dollar mark or eclips that barrier. And maybe that's
- 4:54Speaker 3: what he's waitning for, just you know, one long term
- 4:57Speaker 3: contract so you don't have to go through this, you know,
- 4:59Speaker 3: year a year like the other guys did with those
- 5:02Speaker 3: opt outs.
- 5:03Speaker 5: Talking about who ages is brought up Boba Schet cautiously
- 5:07Speaker 5: optimistic for the Phillies. Is that something that's you know,
- 5:12Speaker 5: more from the Phillies department or is this a market
- 5:17Speaker 5: that Boba Sheet's needing to kind of get himself out there,
- 5:20Speaker 5: to get the market going so that he's in a
- 5:24Speaker 5: place in spring training.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I think he expected a bigger market too. Uh.
- 5:30Speaker 3: The Phillies are the ones costally optimistic. They liked the
- 5:33Speaker 3: zoom call that they had with him. They think that
- 5:36Speaker 3: he's genuinely interested and they you know, conveyed that, Hey,
- 5:39Speaker 3: they're generally interested in him.
- 5:41Speaker 1: It's not just to put some pressure on JT. Realmudo. Uh.
- 5:45Speaker 3: He's not using them to get more money from the
- 5:47Speaker 3: Red Sox or somebody else. So I think it can happen.
- 5:50Speaker 3: I think he'd be great for the Phillies us to shake.
- 5:52Speaker 1: That thing up.
- 5:53Speaker 3: I mean, if you know, Gon bounced out early the
- 5:56Speaker 3: playoffs here the last couple of years with pretty much
- 5:58Speaker 3: the same lineup. If you don't bring him in, it's
- 6:01Speaker 3: pretty much the same group of guys, uh for the
- 6:04Speaker 3: most part. So I think be great for the Phillies
- 6:07Speaker 3: to grab Bischett and just really shake that thing up
- 6:11Speaker 3: give him a better chance to you know, get back
- 6:12Speaker 3: to the World Series.
- 6:14Speaker 4: Well, if that happens, does I mean Alec Bohm is gone?
- 6:17Speaker 4: Does I mean real Muto's gone? Can they signed Bishett
- 6:19Speaker 4: and real Muto JT and bring him back or would
- 6:22Speaker 4: that would they have to go and then go find
- 6:24Speaker 4: possibly a catcher and then trade either Stot or Bom.
- 6:27Speaker 4: I mean if that's why the Philly fit to a
- 6:30Speaker 4: lot of people is an interesting one because in Dombrowski
- 6:33Speaker 4: would have to possibly make other moves to make this
- 6:36Speaker 4: all fit together and work.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Yeah, they don't have to shake up things that are hurry.
- 6:41Speaker 3: I think Bone would be gone. It could be stopped,
- 6:43Speaker 3: but I think Bone would be gone to go get
- 6:45Speaker 3: a catcher.
- 6:46Speaker 4: Uh.
- 6:47Speaker 3: You know, I was told that if they do sign
- 6:50Speaker 3: Bischett that real Moto is gone. Uh, They're not that
- 6:54Speaker 3: close to negotiations. I think there's been some tension there,
- 6:58Speaker 3: just like it was years ago. I think there's more
- 7:01Speaker 3: tension now. And so if they do sign bi Hit,
- 7:06Speaker 3: I don't think there's any way they bring him back.
- 7:08Speaker 1: You really have to drop down in his demand.
- 7:11Speaker 3: Whatever he's acting for, and I'm not sure it's in
- 7:14Speaker 3: a market for a thirty five year old catcher.
- 7:17Speaker 1: I don't know where else you would go.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Hey, make good eats at home part of your twenty

- 8:22Speaker 2: Hello Fresh.
- 8:23Speaker 4: I'll tell you what. As a former thirty five year
- 8:25Speaker 4: old free agent catcher, you sign a lot of one
- 8:26Speaker 4: year deals. So that's where it gets interesting because you know,
- 8:29Speaker 4: I'm sure he wants a multi year deal, but I've
- 8:31Speaker 4: been there and it's one year deal offers and you
- 8:34Speaker 4: do the best you can and try to go from there. Well,
- 8:36Speaker 4: there's another name on the Phillies that no one has
- 8:38Speaker 4: talked about, and he and a rough ending in Philadelphia,
- 8:41Speaker 4: and that's Castianos. Have you heard anything about his market
- 8:45Speaker 4: because everyone, everything you read and everything you see, everyone's like,
- 8:48Speaker 4: there's no way Nick Castianos is back on the Phillies. Well,
- 8:51Speaker 4: we haven't heard his name mentioned anywhere. Is this going
- 8:53Speaker 4: to be a salary dumpy kind of thing like the
- 8:56Speaker 4: Cardinals just did with Ronado or is there actually going
- 8:59Speaker 4: to be some interest to Nick Castianos for a year.
- 9:02Speaker 3: I think it's gonna be a big time salary top.
- 9:04Speaker 3: I think they're going to have to eat the minimum
- 9:06Speaker 3: seventeen million to twenty if not.
- 9:08Speaker 1: You know, eighteen or nineteen. I have not heard his name.
- 9:12Speaker 3: I would think as we get closer to spring training,
- 9:14Speaker 3: I don't think the Phillies won them back in camp.
- 9:17Speaker 3: I think they move him. Then you know, maybe a
- 9:19Speaker 3: team like to say Anygo Podres or you know, someone
- 9:21Speaker 3: could use some outfield help. They would make sense. I mean,
- 9:24Speaker 3: the Potters wanted Ernando two, they just didn't want to
- 9:27Speaker 3: pay the eleven million dollars that the Diamonbacks paid, So
- 9:30Speaker 3: they're really in a money crunch, and I think it
- 9:33Speaker 3: would be a great fit. I think the real risk
- 9:36Speaker 3: for a team is if you bring Caslanos in, you
- 9:39Speaker 3: better play them every day or he's gonna be upset
- 9:41Speaker 3: and could cause disturbance in the clubhouse, which is what
- 9:45Speaker 3: happened in Philadelphia.
- 9:47Speaker 5: Let's say the Phillies do get Boba shot j t
- 9:50Speaker 5: Romuto is gone. According to Bob, what does that market
- 9:55Speaker 5: look like out there for the Phillies. I asked Ken
- 9:58Speaker 5: yesterday and he talked about Victor care teeny. Does Ryan
- 10:01Speaker 5: Jeffers say, okay, yes, that's the guy that we would want,
- 10:05Speaker 5: we have to go get him. Do the Phillies have
- 10:08Speaker 5: the pieces to go get a guy who's a starting
- 10:11Speaker 5: catcher because the team he's coming from needs a starting
- 10:14Speaker 5: catcher too. So that's my That's like where I'm like
- 10:17Speaker 5: it's a catching position is usually figured out by November,
- 10:21Speaker 5: and now we're into January and the Phillies are in
- 10:24Speaker 5: no man's land.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Yeah, they've got to go get another catcher.
- 10:29Speaker 3: It might be someone's backup or somebody who plays you know,
- 10:32Speaker 3: sixty percent in the time.
- 10:33Speaker 1: You know, a little bit like the Cub situation. Grab
- 10:37Speaker 1: you know a guy like that.
- 10:39Speaker 3: But you know you're gonna have to mix and match
- 10:40Speaker 3: of the catchup position, which is fine, but you better
- 10:44Speaker 3: You're got to get that trust from those Philadelphia pictures
- 10:46Speaker 3: in a hurry.
- 10:47Speaker 1: I mean, you got a lot of money invests in
- 10:48Speaker 1: that rotation. They're used to real mudo.
- 10:51Speaker 3: That's the big danger here is now that catcher and
- 10:54Speaker 3: pitchers got to get to know each other in a hurry.
- 10:57Speaker 4: Here, Okay, well let's go. Let's go on to another
- 11:00Speaker 4: team that made a big move. That's the Cubs. Cubs
- 11:03Speaker 4: brought in Alex Pregman. Red Sox fans thought they had
- 11:06Speaker 4: him and he was gonna come back for sure. The
- 11:08Speaker 4: Cubs swoop in steal him away from the Red Sox.
- 11:10Speaker 4: Does this mean they're gonna have to trade Nico Horner?
- 11:12Speaker 4: Are they gonna run with Horner? Swansby, Dansby, Swanson and
- 11:16Speaker 4: Pregman in the infield, Michael Bush obviously at first, and
- 11:19Speaker 4: then what do you do with the Matt Shaw, who's
- 11:20Speaker 4: a young player show promise in the second half. They've
- 11:23Speaker 4: been high on him forever. Does he just slot in
- 11:25Speaker 4: automatically to your utility role that they've had.
- 11:30Speaker 1: I was told that.
- 11:30Speaker 3: Horner stand put. Uh, you know that they want they
- 11:34Speaker 3: want him there. Uh, so he's got one more year
- 11:37Speaker 3: to their left. I think he stays put. I think
- 11:39Speaker 3: Dodd Man out his Shaw. I don't think they trade him,
- 11:42Speaker 3: but I think he bounces back and forth between the
- 11:44Speaker 3: miners and uh a super childey player. Uh, he's gonna
- 11:48Speaker 3: have to have a great spring just like he did
- 11:50Speaker 3: a year ago to make the team and uh and
- 11:52Speaker 3: show he can play multiple positions. If nothing else, you'll
- 11:56Speaker 3: go to Iowa and just be that, you know, that
- 11:58Speaker 3: reserve guy, you know, break for him. But I think
- 12:01Speaker 3: that's what's going to have to happen for this next year.
- 12:03Speaker 3: But I think Horner definitely stays put.
- 12:06Speaker 5: Is framber Valdez's phone is it off? Like is it broken?
- 12:10Speaker 4: Is there?
- 12:11Speaker 5: We haven't heard anything? Has he been getting calls or stuff,
- 12:14Speaker 5: waiting for something else, the first shoe to fall, and
- 12:18Speaker 5: then something happens.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Yeah, it's strange. I mean, once he's got the two ten,
- 12:23Speaker 1: you figure, Okay.
- 12:23Speaker 3: Valdeza's going to come in right around the same thing,
- 12:26Speaker 3: and you've heard nothing. I mean, it seems like you'd
- 12:28Speaker 3: be a great fit for you know, a number of teams,
- 12:31Speaker 3: particularly particularly the Mets. Uh, the Red Sox too, But yeah.
- 12:36Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 12:36Speaker 3: You know how much that hurt during the season with
- 12:39Speaker 3: the with the incident with the catcher in Uh, you
- 12:42Speaker 3: know that they're prying around saying, winn now is he
- 12:46Speaker 3: going to fit into our clubhouse? So, uh, we'll see.
- 12:50Speaker 3: But yeah, I'm surprised. I think the biggest surprise of
- 12:53Speaker 3: all this whole free agency is just the starting pitching market.
- 12:57Speaker 3: Just how slow it is.
- 12:59Speaker 5: The Red Sox. You said, the Red Sox possibly on
- 13:02Speaker 5: frame or you know, it's always a possibility, but it's
- 13:04Speaker 5: starting pitching where they because they've already made the move
- 13:08Speaker 5: with Sonny Gray and they got I'm blanking out right
- 13:12Speaker 5: now anyway, the second move in Now they got Wilson Contrens,
- 13:19Speaker 5: but they got another starting pitcher too, Johan Oviado. That dude,
- 13:25Speaker 5: got your boy, I know I forgot. It's okay, It's okay,
- 13:29Speaker 5: you forget things. Me and Bob.
- 13:31Speaker 2: That's his favorite picture.
- 13:34Speaker 5: Yes, But anyway, would they go to the starting pitching
- 13:37Speaker 5: market or the fact that they just missed out on
- 13:40Speaker 5: a bat that was a key part of their lineup,
- 13:42Speaker 5: So they need a bat.
- 13:45Speaker 3: In a bat but you know they could add another arm.
- 13:48Speaker 3: I mean, you know, through eight or ninety starters anyway,
- 13:51Speaker 3: you know why not? But yeah, they need a bat somewhere. Uh,
- 13:55Speaker 3: you know, I know that Diamondback said, hey, we're not
- 13:57Speaker 3: trading get but you know what surprise anybody's screen trending
- 14:01Speaker 3: if the Red Sox come back and say, you know what,
- 14:04Speaker 3: we're gonna be willing to give you this we weren't
- 14:06Speaker 3: gonna give to you before, We're gonna give it to
- 14:08Speaker 3: you now. I can't believe the door is completely shut
- 14:11Speaker 3: on the Martete trade talks.
- 14:14Speaker 4: Okay, the Mets. The Mets have been roomed for Tucker
- 14:17Speaker 4: fifty million a year all that stuff. Bob, why are
- 14:20Speaker 4: they not going after more starting pitching and why will
- 14:22Speaker 4: they not go after some of these guys guys like
- 14:24Speaker 4: that that they might have to give is that just
- 14:26Speaker 4: David Stern saying I refuse to give a long term
- 14:29Speaker 4: deal to a starting pitcher because from Ravallo does I
- 14:32Speaker 4: think would fit nicely in that rotation, Ranger Suarez, you
- 14:35Speaker 4: know him, well, he's in your division for the last
- 14:37Speaker 4: five six years. Why would they not go out and say, hey,
- 14:39Speaker 4: we need to really focus on our starting pitching. Yes,
- 14:42Speaker 4: Kyle Tucker is nice, but we need some pitching somewhere.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:46Speaker 3: I'm sure they're in on all these guys and say, Okay,
- 14:49Speaker 3: here's a three year or four year deal.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Who wants to take it?
- 14:51Speaker 3: And maybe they're gonna have to say, you know what,
- 14:53Speaker 3: We're just gonna weigh give.
- 14:55Speaker 1: You the opt out clauses too.
- 14:57Speaker 3: I think they're just betting the market not being there obviously,
- 15:01Speaker 3: you know, and as a materialized like those guys thought,
- 15:04Speaker 3: and someone's gonna have to bite.
- 15:05Speaker 1: So I think at some point we.
- 15:07Speaker 3: Got less than a month before fishes and catches your port,
- 15:10Speaker 3: someone's can get nervous here in sign and saying I
- 15:13Speaker 3: don't get to take the mess offer.
- 15:15Speaker 1: You know what's next. So I think they're just trying
- 15:17Speaker 1: to play it smart, play shrewd in the sense that
- 15:21Speaker 1: someone's gonna take our money and let's don't bid against ourselves. Uh,
- 15:25Speaker 1: they've got to get least one more pitch, if not too.
- 15:28Speaker 4: So that's what she thinks happening to a lot of
- 15:30Speaker 4: these guys as teams are just sitting back saying don't
- 15:32Speaker 4: panic and that. Meanwhile their agents are saying, don't panic, guys.
- 15:36Speaker 4: The money's there or it'll get there eventually. So which
- 15:38Speaker 4: one wins in the end? Is it the teams because
- 15:41Speaker 4: the team's not saying collusion, But we've talked to some
- 15:44Speaker 4: guys and they've had a lot of the same offers
- 15:47Speaker 4: from multiple teams. Right, So our teams just sitting back
- 15:50Speaker 4: and then you have every agent because I've been through this,
- 15:52Speaker 4: and teams you get you get to once you hit Christmas,
- 15:54Speaker 4: everyone says, oh, man, are you gonna sign you're not
- 15:57Speaker 4: playing anymore? Or are you going? The wife starts hitting
- 15:59Speaker 4: you up for where are we going for spring training?
- 16:01Speaker 4: I got to find a place to live. So are
- 16:03Speaker 4: the teams just counting on full panic setting in and
- 16:06Speaker 4: they can maybe get some deals out of this?
- 16:09Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 16:09Speaker 3: I used to be like you said, a j full
- 16:11Speaker 3: pin up for a Christmas you know, Now it's more
- 16:13Speaker 3: towards spring training, we're seeing a lot more signings, but
- 16:17Speaker 3: it's a lot more important for these pictures to signally
- 16:19Speaker 3: because one spring training starts. You know, there's kind of,
- 16:23Speaker 3: you know, a track record of guys that show up late,
- 16:26Speaker 3: aren't ready, they have poor things. You know, look at Montgomery,
- 16:30Speaker 3: what happened German Gunmy with the Diamondbacks, that sort of thing.
- 16:34Speaker 3: So I think a teams are waiting for the players
- 16:36Speaker 3: or pictures to panic and say, Okay, we don't like
- 16:39Speaker 3: this software. We'll take it, giving me, give me a
- 16:42Speaker 3: opt out, and I'll go hit that market again next year.
- 16:45Speaker 3: You know, it's worked for guys, but for picture it's
- 16:48Speaker 3: a lot more important to get to camp on time,
- 16:50Speaker 3: and it's a position player.
- 16:52Speaker 5: How much validity is it when we hear stuff about
- 16:56Speaker 5: the Giants looking for a second basement because there's two
- 16:58Speaker 5: out there on the market. Obviously, I don't think that
- 17:01Speaker 5: Martees going out there and you just said, Nico Horner,
- 17:04Speaker 5: is there a aggressiveness from the Giants to make that
- 17:09Speaker 5: trade to get that second baseman that they're possibly looking for?
- 17:14Speaker 1: Good?
- 17:15Speaker 3: They've got a nice farm system and uh, you know,
- 17:18Speaker 3: we see toads and spring training all the time.
- 17:20Speaker 1: You know, why not, why not wait and get a guy.
- 17:23Speaker 3: Uh, there's always guys that fall to the cracks and
- 17:26Speaker 3: stuff like that, injuries, So I think they you know, wait, uh,
- 17:30Speaker 3: you know, maybe they. I can't see the Diamax trading
- 17:33Speaker 3: Marta to San Francisco. I'm not being the same division.
- 17:36Speaker 3: But there'll be guys out there, and uh, the way
- 17:39Speaker 3: they always operate, at least the Giants, you know, under
- 17:41Speaker 3: bust or Posey is just take your time until you
- 17:44Speaker 3: get that right guy.
- 17:45Speaker 1: So I don't think there's an urgency to get the
- 17:48Speaker 1: guy right now. And I think you know, a Saint
- 17:50Speaker 1: Louis is aggressive.
- 17:51Speaker 3: They've been dealing guys, you know, why not just wait
- 17:54Speaker 3: to see if you know, Brendan Donovan falls in your lap.
- 17:58Speaker 4: But why where's the Giants fan?
- 18:00Speaker 1: Uh?
- 18:00Speaker 4: You know, Buster Posey, we got this, we do this
- 18:03Speaker 4: was their move getting Devers last year. Where is the
- 18:06Speaker 4: Giants been? Because the Giants are that team that's always
- 18:08Speaker 4: rumored to you know, oh, they're gonna get this guy,
- 18:11Speaker 4: and they might they're sneaky, gonna sign this guy and
- 18:13Speaker 4: do this. And this offseason they've been relatively quiet, especially
- 18:17Speaker 4: on the big name guys.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I think the exactly is that Devers was their
- 18:22Speaker 1: big guy.
- 18:22Speaker 3: If they signed him during the Winner, people say, oh,
- 18:24Speaker 3: what a great move, sign a Domas to the big
- 18:27Speaker 3: time contract last year. So they've been spending some big
- 18:30Speaker 3: time money. Uh, you know, didn't pay off for him
- 18:33Speaker 3: last year. So I think there's they were always playing
- 18:35Speaker 3: and just do it kind of quietly that Hey, they
- 18:38Speaker 3: weren't going to go out and get a big time
- 18:40Speaker 3: free agent. They were just gonna kind of work in
- 18:42Speaker 3: the margins and see who falls in there. Obviously they
- 18:45Speaker 3: already have a big payroll. But yeah, they've never in
- 18:48Speaker 3: on any of these guys. Uh, you know, could they
- 18:51Speaker 3: be a sneaky team on Bichette, possibly, but I haven't
- 18:54Speaker 3: heard that at all.
- 18:57Speaker 4: Well, they need a second baseman, they did, there's your
- 19:00Speaker 4: second basement. There's another star you can add to the mix.
- 19:03Speaker 4: There you go, Bob, Bob said it here first man.
- 19:06Speaker 4: Oh shit, to the giants. There's been no links there,
- 19:09Speaker 4: no at.
- 19:10Speaker 1: Least at all.
- 19:11Speaker 4: No.
- 19:12Speaker 3: But yeah, I mean it is uh it was. You know,
- 19:14Speaker 3: market isn't what he thinks it's gonna be. You might
- 19:16Speaker 3: as well throw your name of the fire and see
- 19:18Speaker 3: what happens. But yeah, I mean, but yeah, Philadelphia is
- 19:21Speaker 3: very very optimistic, or at least more than Caution is
- 19:25Speaker 3: optimistic now that big ship.
- 19:27Speaker 1: Could be a perfect fit for him.
- 19:28Speaker 3: I think people in Philadelphia and the front office are a
- 19:31Speaker 3: lot more excited about Bishett now than they were two
- 19:33Speaker 3: weeks ago.
- 19:35Speaker 2: Bob, are there any trade names that you feel are
- 19:38Speaker 2: a definite over the next few weeks to actually happen?
- 19:41Speaker 2: And we put the catel Marte trade talks to bed.
- 19:44Speaker 2: It doesn't sound like Schoogle's happening, although maybe this arbitration
- 19:48Speaker 2: battle kicks that up. Freddy Paralta, Brendan Donovan or anyone
- 19:53Speaker 2: else we're missing, I.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Mean Paralta Stills, I think that part's gonna be off
- 19:58Speaker 1: there at all. Spring he's not dealt before.
- 20:00Speaker 3: I think the mess are just waiting for someone to
- 20:02Speaker 3: overpay and using somebody will I he's not making money. Uh,
- 20:06Speaker 3: you know, obviously David Stearns knows sham. Do they make
- 20:09Speaker 3: a run for pro Alta?
- 20:11Speaker 1: Why not? Uh?
- 20:12Speaker 3: You know, but you kind of wonder what the what
- 20:15Speaker 3: the Cubs have done there. We're getting Cabrera, getting Brugman
- 20:19Speaker 3: Brewers fans. I think we'll go bonkers if they trade
- 20:22Speaker 3: away pro Alta, Like, what are we doing here? We've
- 20:24Speaker 3: dominated this division, we believe going to raise a white
- 20:27Speaker 3: flag here and not go for it again.
- 20:30Speaker 1: So I think being a hard pr sell right now
- 20:32Speaker 1: to trade Pralta, Bob, good stuff.
- 20:36Speaker 2: We appreciate it as always great to check back in,
- 20:38Speaker 2: and still a ton more to go over the next
- 20:41Speaker 2: few weeks.
- 20:42Speaker 1: It'll be busy.
- 20:43Speaker 4: We'll talk see all right.
- 20:45Speaker 1: Sounds good, Thank you guys,
