- 0:00Speaker 1: Also shout out to the right tackle Peyton Saraki right here.
- 0:03Speaker 1: Anytime something like this happens, he does a great job
- 0:05Speaker 1: of yelling my name as loud as he can and
- 0:08Speaker 1: giving me a heads up.
- 0:09Speaker 2: I don't know if you should be telling me that, man.
- 0:12Speaker 3: That is not the first time, he probably won't be
- 0:13Speaker 3: the last time they'll do something like that.
- 0:15Speaker 2: But you guys are on the same page. Yeah, exactly,
- 0:17Speaker 2: all right, So you're playing well right now. You're one
- 0:20Speaker 2: of the top quarterbacks in the country, you know, right now,
- 0:22Speaker 2: and you're leading every single category almost statistically from throwing
- 0:25Speaker 2: the football and Bleacher Report one to come in and
- 0:28Speaker 2: do a film session with you. It's going to show
- 0:30Speaker 2: you and your athleticism in terms of, like you know,
- 0:32Speaker 2: extending plays. It's going to show some really great plays
- 0:35Speaker 2: that he makes.
- 0:35Speaker 3: So excited to.
- 0:37Speaker 2: Kind of get this in going right now, So let's
- 0:38Speaker 2: hop in this film session.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Okay, So first play lining up in one of our
- 0:42Speaker 1: two by two open sets, and so right here we're
- 0:45Speaker 1: going to have an option route right here with Cole
- 0:47Speaker 1: and so he's gonna come and he's gonna either break
- 0:49Speaker 1: in or break out based off the leverage of this
- 0:52Speaker 1: dB knowing that there's linebackers in here and it's one
- 0:55Speaker 1: on one right there, thinking he might be breaking in
- 0:58Speaker 1: if he can after the snaff of the ball. These
- 1:02Speaker 1: these linebackers are still kind of hanging out in there.
- 1:04Speaker 1: They if there's any kind of internal pressure, Cole would
- 1:07Speaker 1: break that in right there, and he'd catch that slant
- 1:09Speaker 1: on the run and he would move and get as
- 1:12Speaker 1: much as he can. But see he sees that out
- 1:14Speaker 1: of his peripheral vision, and so he's gonna break out
- 1:16Speaker 1: right here. Oklahoma State does a great job matching it up.
- 1:19Speaker 1: And so I see that and I'm working back to
- 1:21Speaker 1: my backside. Concept could trigger this right here to clop
- 1:25Speaker 1: in that window before this linebacker can make a play
- 1:28Speaker 1: and before this safety crashes down on it. But as
- 1:31Speaker 1: I'm stepping up, my vision gets blurry a little bit,
- 1:35Speaker 1: and so then I'm just working through. Oklahoma State does
- 1:37Speaker 1: a good job with the pass rush and it turns
- 1:39Speaker 1: into kind of what we were talking about earlier, just
- 1:41Speaker 1: making a play. Your job changes within the play, and
- 1:44Speaker 1: Nightstick does a good job getting open after the play
- 1:47Speaker 1: breaks down.
- 1:48Speaker 2: With quarterback scrambles. Everybody's going to be very critical of that.
- 1:51Speaker 2: What type of balance do you have, you know, in
- 1:53Speaker 2: terms of you know, hitting the home run shot or
- 1:54Speaker 2: just being efficient with your play. And you had like
- 1:56Speaker 2: of that moment versus Oklahoma State where you have like
- 1:58Speaker 2: a forty yard touchdown scramp where you know Jaden Porter
- 2:02Speaker 2: is wide open on his curl route, but you saw
- 2:04Speaker 2: the window, you took the like you tucked the ball,
- 2:07Speaker 2: and you ended up running for a big, big play.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Because that was one of the first times where I
- 2:10Speaker 2: actually kind of saw like your athletic ability. Didn't think
- 2:13Speaker 2: he had that home run mentality, which you actually did
- 2:15Speaker 2: that game. Which has been fun as a coach to
- 2:18Speaker 2: see just the maturity and the progression of you just
- 2:21Speaker 2: really managing the game and taking the most efficient thing.
- 2:23Speaker 2: I thought number fourth for Oklaoma State was a really
- 2:25Speaker 2: good player. And you see him play back, you know,
- 2:27Speaker 2: rush up the field to force you to step up
- 2:29Speaker 2: in the pocket and he plays back down on you,
- 2:31Speaker 2: which a lot of people don't recognize that, and I
- 2:33Speaker 2: think he recognized it right at the end. And for
- 2:35Speaker 2: you to make this play and get out of the
- 2:37Speaker 2: pocket and still you know, get your eyes down field
- 2:39Speaker 2: and deliver a great ball, and that was a really
- 2:42Speaker 2: big play.
- 2:42Speaker 1: For us also shout out to the right tackle with
- 2:44Speaker 1: Peyton Saraki right here. Anytime something like this happens, he
- 2:48Speaker 1: does a great job of yelling my name as loud
- 2:50Speaker 1: as he can and giving me a heads up. So
- 2:53Speaker 1: right here he's yelling my name as loud as he can,
- 2:56Speaker 1: and so I know something is probably happening behind me,
- 2:58Speaker 1: and so that gives me the that gives me the
- 3:00Speaker 1: wherewithal to kind of do this right here, make it happen,
- 3:04Speaker 1: and then work through it.
- 3:05Speaker 2: And I know that is not the first time, he
- 3:09Speaker 2: probably won't be the last time they will do something
- 3:11Speaker 2: like that.
- 3:11Speaker 3: But on the same page, yeah, exactly. Okay, so this
- 3:15Speaker 3: is against SMU.
- 3:16Speaker 1: We're down seven right here, so we know we need
- 3:18Speaker 1: a touchdown to tie the game, force it into overtime.
- 3:22Speaker 1: And so right here we have one of our plays
- 3:24Speaker 1: called where it's going to be a glance right here
- 3:27Speaker 1: by Josh and then Kobe is gonna be running a
- 3:30Speaker 1: crossing route and then we got Ashen on the curl
- 3:32Speaker 1: right right behind it, and we're free releasing this tight
- 3:35Speaker 1: end and the running back. So I know it's a
- 3:37Speaker 1: five man pro, but I'm getting back to this. If
- 3:39Speaker 1: this is gonna be my checkdown. And so you can
- 3:41Speaker 1: see as the ball is snapped, I'm I drilling the
- 3:44Speaker 1: middle of the field seeing if this guy is gonna
- 3:46Speaker 1: buzz right here into the glance window. And that's a
- 3:48Speaker 1: split second decision, right And you can kind of see,
- 3:51Speaker 1: like hang in my head right here, seeing that he's
- 3:54Speaker 1: not working to this side of the field, so he's
- 3:56Speaker 1: kind of getting over here. So I know I'm already
- 3:58Speaker 1: getting off that, especially with a safety over the top.
- 4:00Speaker 1: They've got three guys over there for our one guy
- 4:02Speaker 1: that we have.
- 4:03Speaker 2: This whole point was to try to influence those middle linebackers,
- 4:07Speaker 2: right and like earlier in this drive, we called this
- 4:09Speaker 2: play on a fourth and three, which was a big play,
- 4:11Speaker 2: and they gave you a different look. And if you
- 4:12Speaker 2: look at that Mike linebacker right there, that's like close
- 4:15Speaker 2: to Kobe. Do you see how the swat with the
- 4:18Speaker 2: swing of the tight end and the running back influences
- 4:20Speaker 2: him for about three four steps right there, which allows
- 4:23Speaker 2: you and like the anticipation of this, the precision of
- 4:26Speaker 2: this right here. And I didn't even think you were
- 4:29Speaker 2: looking at him really, and I don't think Kobe was
- 4:31Speaker 2: actually had his head around it's just you knew he
- 4:33Speaker 2: was going to be in that window, and I'm saying,
- 4:35Speaker 2: what a great play in such a crucial time. And
- 4:39Speaker 2: I always enjoy watching Kobe, who we're sitting here at
- 4:43Speaker 2: the halfway point of the season. He has seventeen receptions
- 4:45Speaker 2: for six touchdowns, so I think he should probably throw
- 4:47Speaker 2: to him a little bit more in these moments.
- 4:48Speaker 3: But in a different celebration with each one.
- 4:51Speaker 2: It's so awesome watching the celebrations. You know, I saw
- 4:53Speaker 2: you get involved with these celebrations for so Coloma State,
- 4:56Speaker 2: which I'll let the audience decide and critique you on
- 4:59Speaker 2: your dance at that point.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Okay, So right here we have our sit juke hank play.
- 5:04Speaker 1: So we're gonna have a hitch route right there by
- 5:07Speaker 1: number one, a sit route right here y two, and
- 5:11Speaker 1: then we got an OTB that he can convert once
- 5:15Speaker 1: he's matched with a curl route coming right here, and
- 5:18Speaker 1: then a check swing right here by the back. And
- 5:20Speaker 1: so I'm just gonna read this one to two, to
- 5:23Speaker 1: three to four and then getting all the way to
- 5:26Speaker 1: my fifth read if I need to, so as you
- 5:29Speaker 1: can see how Arizona State's playing this right here, this
- 5:31Speaker 1: corner up top is just looking at me, and so
- 5:34Speaker 1: if I go to trigger this hitch route right here,
- 5:36Speaker 1: there's a chance he can break on that. It's a
- 5:38Speaker 1: far throw opposite hash, he can break on that, undercut it,
- 5:42Speaker 1: pick it off, and so I'm getting off of that
- 5:44Speaker 1: one pretty quickly.
- 5:45Speaker 3: And then after that going to the sit route.
- 5:47Speaker 1: You can see right here, this guy's playing way over
- 5:50Speaker 1: the top, and so he's gonna shut this down. But
- 5:53Speaker 1: as he does, this safety is kind of working his
- 5:55Speaker 1: way into this void right here, and so I immediately
- 5:58Speaker 1: get off of that as well. It's a split second
- 6:00Speaker 1: decision in the game, and so I'm working down to
- 6:02Speaker 1: my third read right here with Trigg.
- 6:03Speaker 3: Trigg is sitting.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Down in this void in between this mic and this
- 6:08Speaker 1: linebacker right here as well. But he knows that once
- 6:10Speaker 1: I give him my eyes, he can break this and
- 6:14Speaker 1: find this grass right here, which is exactly what he does.
- 6:18Speaker 1: And I liked that because I thought he got open
- 6:20Speaker 1: right there, and I put it to a place where
- 6:22Speaker 1: I thought he could get it, and he made a play.
- 6:24Speaker 3: You know, this is in the fourth quarter of the game.
- 6:26Speaker 3: We're down seven points.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Coach Randa talks about all the time, your best players
- 6:30Speaker 1: have to make their best plays in.
- 6:32Speaker 3: The most crucial times in the game.
- 6:34Speaker 1: And that's exactly what Michael Trigg does right here, all
- 6:37Speaker 1: right now. The next clip we got is against Kansas
- 6:39Speaker 1: State and are spread two by two splits, another one
- 6:43Speaker 1: of our base Day one installs where it's just a
- 6:46Speaker 1: four vertical four vertical read. So we're going right here,
- 6:51Speaker 1: and like I was saying earlier, just you give you
- 6:53Speaker 1: do such a good job of allowing them to run
- 6:55Speaker 1: the space, and so it's not obviously going to look
- 6:57Speaker 1: like football isn't played in straight lines, right, So you
- 6:59Speaker 1: can see right here if you watch each receiver, each
- 7:02Speaker 1: one of them is gonna be doing a different thing,
- 7:04Speaker 1: trying to find grass right here, right and so up
- 7:06Speaker 1: top you have Cole doesn't think he can win right here,
- 7:11Speaker 1: and so he ends up shutting it down right there.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Same thing with Josh. The safety's playing over the top,
- 7:16Speaker 1: so he shuts it down as well. Kansas State does
- 7:18Speaker 1: a good job with these two defenders, just playing them
- 7:20Speaker 1: at a level where we're shutting it down. And so
- 7:23Speaker 1: I know I'm gonna work this side down here to
- 7:25Speaker 1: the bottom with Trig and Ashton. Ashton, same thing right
- 7:29Speaker 1: here he's running four verticals. He knows he's not gonna
- 7:32Speaker 1: run by this guy, so he just shuts it down.
- 7:34Speaker 1: He's gonna work back down his stem in case I
- 7:36Speaker 1: need to throw that right there. But then Trig, this
- 7:39Speaker 1: guy's even I know, Trig is a really really fast
- 7:41Speaker 1: tight end and so I just try to throw it
- 7:43Speaker 1: by this guy and allow Trig to go make a
- 7:45Speaker 1: play and fit it in between, kind of bend him
- 7:49Speaker 1: in towards the middle of the field because I see
- 7:51Speaker 1: this corner right here playing over the top, and so
- 7:54Speaker 1: if I throw this ball like right here, this number
- 7:57Speaker 1: nine right here is probably gonna go make a play
- 7:59Speaker 1: on that ball.
- 8:00Speaker 3: And so I know I kind of have to bend Trig.
- 8:02Speaker 1: In a little bit the demeanor of this guy he's
- 8:04Speaker 1: running this way, and so trusting Trig to kind of
- 8:06Speaker 1: get closer to the hash right there in order in
- 8:09Speaker 1: order to catch this ball right there. And obviously Trig
- 8:12Speaker 1: has really really great hands and he's able to make
- 8:14Speaker 1: a great, great catch.
- 8:15Speaker 2: This is the best throw that you've had since my
- 8:18Speaker 2: time coaching you, and I think this is arguably probably
- 8:20Speaker 2: one of the best throws that you've ever had. But
- 8:22Speaker 2: I don't know if this is luck or if this
- 8:24Speaker 2: is actually skill? So do you think you can recreate
- 8:26Speaker 2: this throw?
- 8:26Speaker 3: Let's go find out.
- 8:27Speaker 2: They're saying it's a thirty four yard throw roughly, like
- 8:30Speaker 2: in the divide between the hash and the numbers. We're
- 8:33Speaker 2: in a two by two set. You threw it from
- 8:35Speaker 2: the eleven yard line roughly. That means that you have
- 8:37Speaker 2: to step up in the pocket a little bit. We're
- 8:40Speaker 2: going to give you five opportunities to recreate this if
- 8:42Speaker 2: you can make it into the drop net thirty four
- 8:45Speaker 2: yards away from where you're throwing.
- 8:46Speaker 3: Perfect. You think you do it? I think I got it?
- 8:49Speaker 2: Or was it all luck?
- 8:51Speaker 3: Or was it all trig? Yeah? All trig? The eyes
- 9:00Speaker 3: shut all right?
- 9:01Speaker 2: Oh for one, I think you're wound up.
- 9:11Speaker 3: Now miss short three times in a row. Definition of insanity.
- 9:23Speaker 3: That one looks good?
- 9:24Speaker 2: Oh no again, that's the one, man, This is the one.
- 9:27Speaker 2: I can tell it. It looks like it was lucky.
- 9:39Speaker 3: Glad I get to throw the trig and not a net.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Yeah. Hey, that's a wrap for today. I just want
- 9:43Speaker 2: to thank Bleacher Report for coming out and hanging out
- 9:46Speaker 2: with us on our on our bye week and uh
- 9:48Speaker 2: uh again, man, like we got a lot of great
- 9:50Speaker 2: things happening here at Baylor. Very fortunate to coach a
- 9:53Speaker 2: guy like Sorry Robinson. I think Baylor is fortunate to
- 9:56Speaker 2: have it too, But I thought's that that's an inside
- 9:58Speaker 2: look of what Sorry Robinson goes through on daily basis and.
- 10:01Speaker 3: Looking forward to the rest of the season. Sickon m
- 10:06Speaker 3: hm hm hm
