- 0:20greater things. Thank you, Father, for all the
- 0:22promises contained in these books.

- 0:28God, I thank you so much that we have the authority.
- 0:32Father, that you have given us the authority and the dominion.
- 0:36Father, I pray against every foul and unclean spirit.
- 0:39God, in the name of Jesus, driving them out.
- 0:41Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray God for clarity and peace.
- 0:46Lord, I pray that the Holy Spirit will be our teacher and
- 0:49our God today. Lord, heal our bodies and heal
- 0:52our minds and heal our marriages and heal our children.
- 0:55Father, and heal the workplace. Father, I pray in the name of
- 0:58Jesus that you will heal this nation.
- 1:00God, I pray in the name of Jesus that you, Lord, will reign
- 1:05supreme on the globe. Father, over every land for the
- 1:08entire earth is yours. Lord, and we come up under the
- 1:13yoke of Jesus. We come up under the supreme
- 1:16authority of Yeshua. Lord, we thank you so much for
- 1:22all the many blessings. We thank you so much for the
- 1:24breath and our lungs. We thank you so much for the
- 1:27capillaries. God.
- 1:29We thank you so much for our very next heartbeat.
- 1:31Lord. We thank you so much for
- 1:33cognition, God, and the ability to reason and to think and to
- 1:37ponder, Lord, and to imagine. Father, I pray God Almighty that
- 1:42you can help us to set our minds upon you, set our hearts upon
- 1:46you, to worship you with all of our strength.
- 1:49Father, we love you. Lord, we love everything about
- 1:52you. Thank you God, that you've given
- 1:54us your word to study. And Lord, I just pray as I
- 1:58decrease you increase, Lord, you teach us your ways.
- 2:02In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray, Amen.
- 2:06Let's start in verse one then spoke Jesus to the multitude and
- 2:14to his disciples. Well, what did he say?
- 2:16Let's move on to verse 2, saying the scribes and the Pharisees
- 2:20sit in Moses's seat. The scribes and the Pharisees
- 2:25sit in Moses's seat. These were the legal pushers.
- 2:31These were the ones who had the law.
- 2:33These were the ones who were trying to uphold the Pentateuch.
- 2:36They were trying to uphold the Old Testament, and they were
- 2:42exacting all of their religious dogmatic theology upon the
- 2:50masses, and they were making them twice the children of hell.
- 2:54Let's keep going 3 all therefore whatsoever they bid you observe
- 3:00that observe and do but do not you after their works for they
- 3:06say and they do not. They are hypocrites and it's no
- 3:09different in our day and our our friends.
- 3:11We got a lot of people out there that are trying to tell you how
- 3:15to live your lives. But when you pull back the
- 3:17layers and the scandal gets uncovered, you realize that they
- 3:21were ravenous wolves in sheep's clothing.
- 3:24We need to be in tune with the word of God.
- 3:27We need to know the word of God ourselves friends, and that way
- 3:30that is the very best way that you can safeguard your heart and
- 3:35mind and not get church hurt, not get butt hurt, not get your
- 3:39feelings hurt, friends. Because your pastor did
- 3:42something to you, because your pastor was running around on his
- 3:46wife, because there was scandal in the church is you had your
- 3:49eyes on the wrong person, friend.
- 3:51Whenever we fall away because we are offended by what somebody
- 3:56did in the church, if we have our eyes upon Christ, we will
- 4:01not be offended so easily, friends.
- 4:03And by the way, the Word of God is an offense and we need to
- 4:07make sure that we are tuned into the power source.
- 4:10We got to make sure that we are reading this word for ourselves,
- 4:14we understand it for ourselves, and that we are able to teach
- 4:18it. Friends, this is not some corner
- 4:21that somebody finds and then we just fall in line with them.
- 4:24We need to be like the Bereans. We need to make sure we're
- 4:27searching the scripture for ourselves to make sure that what
- 4:31we are being taught is valid. And here Jesus is warning them
- 4:36of all of the hypocrisy within the religious system here.
- 4:40Let's keep going, for they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be
- 4:46born, and lay them on men's shoulders, but they themselves
- 4:50will not move them with one of their fingers.
- 4:53The hypocrisy of the Pharisees. You can see it here.
- 4:57They're not willing to practice what they preach, 5 But all
- 5:01their works they do for to be seen of men.
- 5:06They make broad factories and enlarge the border of their
- 5:09garments. Here they were breaking the law
- 5:13by doing the things that were prescribed not to do.
- 5:16And imagine that what hypocrisy that you can see, and that is
- 5:20the theme of this chapter is you're going to see that Jesus
- 5:25is absolutely annihilating all of the religious systems that
- 5:31were propped up for their own prideful enjoyment.
- 5:35And they were actually able to use the religious system to get
- 5:41their greedy gain. And it's no different in our day
- 5:44and our our friends and Jesus here is actually allowing the
- 5:48publicans and the harlots in faster than all of these
- 5:52religious people. And it's no different in our day
- 5:55and our hour. Same Jesus, Jesus Christ, the
- 5:58same yesterday, today and forever, whatever.
- 6:01Amen. Let's keep going. 6 and love the
- 6:05uppermost rooms at feasts and the chief seats and the
- 6:08synagogues. It was all a show, friends. 7
- 6:12And greetings in the markets and to be called of men.
- 6:15Rabbi Rabbi A but be not you called Rabbi for one is your
- 6:22master. Even Christ and all are your
- 6:25brothers. He's saying that with us as
- 6:28believers, with us as Christians with us that have placed our
- 6:32faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. We should not be looking for all
- 6:36of these positions so that we can have manipulation over the
- 6:43masses. He's saying that we are equal Co
- 6:47heirs of the Lord Jesus Christ. We are Co heirs and we should be
- 6:52teaching and we should be showing and revealing things to
- 6:56our brothers that we have learned from the Lord.
- 7:00But it should not be for our own advantage.
- 7:03Friends, we glorify God in heaven. 9 and call no man your
- 7:10father upon the earth, for one is your Father which is in
- 7:12heaven. He is talking against the
- 7:16Catholic Church. Of all the people who want to be
- 7:19called Father, he's saying don't call them Father.
- 7:22For us who have an earthly dad and we say Father, it is OK, But
- 7:28he is saying do not call anybody who's in a position higher than
- 7:32you, Father. And what a word against the
- 7:35Catholic Church. 10 Neither be you called masters, for one is
- 7:41your master, even Christ. He is the Lord God supreme, and
- 7:46we are just the created, and he is the uncreated.
- 7:49Praise God the great I am. 11 But he that is greatest among
- 7:54you shall be your servant. How many times you see it?
- 7:57Over and over and over. God is so good.
- 8:01Jesus is so good at telling us the same thing over and over and
- 8:05over. The least shall be the greatest
- 8:07and the greatest shall be the least.
- 8:09If we want to be noticed by God, not men.
- 8:14If we want God to take notice of us and to help us along the way,
- 8:19we must take the Low Rd. friends.
- 8:22We must not look for the spotlight.
- 8:27And God will exalt you in due time, friends. 12 And whosoever
- 8:33shall exalt himself shall be a base, and he that shall humble
- 8:37himself shall be exalted. Look at verse 12.
- 8:40It is a very simple concept here, friends.
- 8:43What you need to know more than anything is that God is
- 8:47watching. And God sees everything done in
- 8:49secret. And God will openly reward you
- 8:52for the things that you're not self seeking over, the things
- 8:56that you don't demand for people to see you do.
- 9:00God sees it and he will bring it to light, friends, good or bad.
- 9:0413 But woe unto you scribes and Pharisees, the hypocrites, for
- 9:09you shut up the Kingdom of heaven against men, for you
- 9:12neither go in yourselves, neither suffer you them that are
- 9:16entering to go in. So here what he's saying in the
- 9:20in a nutshell is it's bad enough that you're not going to get to
- 9:24go to heaven, but you are actually keeping people from
- 9:28going to heaven. There are a lot of false
- 9:30teachers out there there friends, there are a lot of
- 9:34apostate churches on the scene right now, and we would do well
- 9:38to safeguard ourselves against them by getting into this word
- 9:42and learning this word for ourselves. 14 Woe unto you
- 9:45scribes, you Pharisees, you hypocrites, for you devour
- 9:49widows houses, and for pretense make long prayer.
- 9:53Therefore you shall receive the greater damnation.
- 9:56So there are levels to the amount of damnation.
- 10:10Greater damnation is pronounced here by Jesus.
- 10:14This is not some new thinking. This is just biblical thinking,
- 10:19friends, and you can do with it whatever you would like.
- 10:23But I want you to know that Jesus Christ Himself here is
- 10:26saying that there are greater damnations and torment, friends,
- 10:32for those who teach others to do wrong, for those who offend the
- 10:37little ones, friends. 15 Woe unto you scribes, you Pharisees,
- 10:42you hypocrites, for you compass sea and land to make one
- 10:46proselyte, and when he is made, you make him twofold more the
- 10:50child of hell than yourselves. He's talking about people that
- 10:52go from land and sea to find a convert.
- 10:55And when they convert them, what do they do?
- 10:58They make them twice the Son of hell, because the one who comes
- 11:01after the evil teacher is twice as evil.
- 11:07They have to one up their master. 16 Woe unto you, you
- 11:11blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the
- 11:15temple, it is nothing but whosoever shall swear by the
- 11:18gold of the temple, he is a debtor.
- 11:21So here the hypocrisy is just compounded.
- 11:25They are trying to say that the temple is nothing but the gold
- 11:29that is, is everything. And what is He says 17 you full
- 11:34and blind for what? What is greater, the gold or the
- 11:37temple that sanctifies the gold? He's showing them their idiotic
- 11:44hypocrisy, that he's showing them how completely foolish they
- 11:49have become. And what it is is they are
- 11:52trying to skirt around the laws they're trying to skirt around.
- 11:57They don't want to actually give what is given to God.
- 12:02They're keeping it for themselves.
- 12:03And God sees it and Jesus saw it and he's calling them out here,
- 12:07friends. And it's all about for the for
- 12:10the hypocrites, for the Pharisees and the scribes.
- 12:13It's all about financial gain and it's all about power, and
- 12:17they don't want to give it up. 18 And whosoever shall swear by
- 12:22the altar, it is nothing. But whosoever swears by the gift
- 12:25that is upon it, he is guilty. And again he's showing them how
- 12:30duplicious they have been. He says in 19 You fools and
- 12:33blind for what is greater, the gift or the altar that
- 12:37sanctifies the gift. He's showing them that the
- 12:39temple and the altar should be exalted over the gifts and the
- 12:43gold. He's showing them that they have
- 12:46tried to find some kind of loophole to keep the gift, gifts
- 12:50and the gold. And God sees it and he will have
- 12:52no part in it, friends. And it's no different.
- 12:54And our day and our hour whenever churches are created.
- 12:58And then what happens is they go on.
- 13:01They become so incredibly wealthy because people are
- 13:04giving to God. They're not giving to the
- 13:06church. You give to God, friends, but
- 13:08what they do with it is on them. And God sees it, and he will
- 13:12deal with it in due time, Friends. 20 Whoso therefore
- 13:17shall swear by the altar, swears by it, and by all the things on
- 13:21it. 21 And whoso shall swear by the temple swears by it, and by
- 13:26him that dwells in it, God Almighty the Lord. 22 And he
- 13:32that shall swear by heaven swears by the throne of God, and
- 13:36by him that sits on it. Holy reverence for the Lord God
- 13:45Almighty, fall down and worship him. 23 Woe unto you scribes,
- 13:52you Pharisees, you hypocrites, for you pay tithe of mint and
- 13:57anise and cumin, and have omitted the weightier matters of
- 14:01the law, judgment, mercy and faith.
- 14:04These are you have to done and not to leave out the others.
- 14:08What's he talking about? He's saying of course we need to
- 14:10be tithing, of course we need to be offering.
- 14:14That is just the beginning. Our sacrificial giving is just
- 14:17the beginning, he's saying. But what he wants is mercy.
- 14:22What does he want? He wants faith.
- 14:26What does he want? He wants us to love justice.
- 14:32He wants us to be the ones who are the light in society.
- 14:39He wants us to be the ones who represent Him well.
- 14:43And not just to check a box. Friends, that is religion, and
- 14:51God wants more than that. He wants us to be sold out, lay
- 14:55down, lovers. He wants us to be the ones who
- 14:59actually have the heart of Jesus and sees this world through the
- 15:03lens of the Holy Spirit welling up within us, filling us,
- 15:07overflowing into our communities.
- 15:10Friends 24 you blind guides which strain a gnat and swallow
- 15:16a camel. Imagine that, friends.
- 15:18They're so worried they're majoring on the miners and they
- 15:22minor on the majors. They're so hyper fixated upon
- 15:27not breaking one of the laws that they're not actually in
- 15:30tune with the heart of God. Friends 25 Woe unto you scribes,
- 15:37you Pharisees, you hypocrites, for you make clean the outside
- 15:41of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of
- 15:45extortion and excess. There it is, He shows them what
- 15:51they are guilty of, extortion and excess.
- 15:55We would do well, friends, to ask God for just enough.
- 16:01Don't give me too little that I might steal, but don't give me
- 16:05too much that I might forget about you, God.
- 16:09This extortion and excess is what they are guilty of.
- 16:14Friends, trust the Lord for today, don't worry about
- 16:18tomorrow. Increase your faith, increase
- 16:22the mercy, increase the judgment, increase, and make
- 16:28sure we're cleaning the inside and not worried about what we
- 16:31look like. Friends, if we take care of our
- 16:35character, our reputation will take care of itself. 26 You
- 16:41blind Pharisee cleanse first that which is within the cup and
- 16:46the platter that the outside of them may be clean also.
- 16:50It's a very simple concept. When you dip the dish into the
- 16:55water and you're cleaning the outside, the OR you're cleaning
- 16:59the inside, the outside will naturally become clean. 27 Woe
- 17:05unto you scribes, you Pharisees, you hypocrites, for you are like
- 17:09unto whitewashed sepulchers, which indeed appear beautiful
- 17:14outward, but are within full of dead men's bones and of all the
- 17:18uncleanness. He's talking about whitewashed
- 17:21tombs. He's talking about them who are
- 17:24trying to get the outside to look beautiful.
- 17:28And because of what the festivals that were going on in
- 17:31Jerusalem, they would go and they would whitewash the tombs,
- 17:35get them all cleaned up. But inside it's stinketh
- 17:38friends. There are dead bones.
- 17:39And he's saying what hypocrisy? You're just worried about the
- 17:43outside, but you don't even think about the inside. 28 Even
- 17:47so, you also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within
- 17:52you are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
- 17:54There it is again. What's he talking about?
- 17:57Extortion? What's he talking about excess?
- 18:00What's he talking about hypocrisy?
- 18:02What's he talking about? Iniquity, sinful friends. 29 Woe
- 18:08unto you scribes, you Pharisees, you hypocrites, because you
- 18:12build the tombs of the prophets and garnish the sepulchres of
- 18:16the righteous. 30 And say, if we had been in the days of our
- 18:21fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood
- 18:24of the prophets. So here, what are they doing?
- 18:27They're about to kill the Son of God.
- 18:31They're about to kill God Incarnate, they're about to kill
- 18:38their creator, they're about to murder their Messiah, and
- 18:43they're saying, Oh well, if we were alive in the days of the
- 18:46prophets, we would not have done those things.
- 18:49And what's Jesus say about it all?
- 18:5131 Therefore you be witnesses unto yourselves that you are the
- 18:56children of them which killed the prophets.
- 19:01Make it plain, Jesus. 32 fill you up, then the measure of your
- 19:06Father's it's all about to accumulate to them, actually
- 19:14killing the son that came to the vineyard. 33 You serpents, you
- 19:24generation of Vipers, how can you escape the damnation of
- 19:29hell? He's calling them children of
- 19:32the devil. They're being used by the devil
- 19:36and it's because of greed, extortion, it's because of
- 19:40excess. They were thieves, they were
- 19:45liars, they were blinded and they were delusional.
- 19:55It's no different in our day and our hour, friends, it's no
- 19:58different. You know lost people are going
- 20:01to do what lost people do, but those that have tasted in the
- 20:05goodness of God, those that have experienced the move of the Holy
- 20:10Spirit, and then they turn their back for greedy gain, there is
- 20:15no more salvation for them. Friends, They blasphemy the Holy
- 20:18Spirit, and they send themselves to hell. 34 Therefore behold, I
- 20:24send unto you prophets, wise men, scribes, and some of them
- 20:29you shall kill and crucify, and some of them you shall scourge
- 20:34in your synagogues and persecute them from city to city.
- 20:39He's talking about the church. He's talking about those that
- 20:43are coming in to try to bring them back into salvation.
- 20:46God does not give up on the Jews.
- 20:48Friends don't believe the lie that he's done with them. 35
- 20:53That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the
- 20:58earth, and from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of
- 21:02Zechariah son of Bariacus, whom you slew between the temple and
- 21:07the altar, God sees it all. 36 Truly I say unto you, all these
- 21:12things shall come upon this generation he's talking about.
- 21:1687 He's talking about the Romans coming in and tearing down the
- 21:21second temple. He's tearing down the augmented
- 21:24temple that Herod went and added on to he.
- 21:28They're tearing it down. And 807037 O Jerusalem,
- 21:34Jerusalem, you that killed the prophets, and stone them which
- 21:38are sent unto you. How often would I have gathered
- 21:42your children together, even as a hen gathers her chickens under
- 21:46her wings? But you would not.
- 21:50What love Jesus has for us, What love Jesus has for his people,
- 21:55His chosen people, the Jews, friends, What love he has for
- 21:59them. He doesn't give up.
- 22:03He's so relentless in his pursuit of us.
- 22:08He chases us down. Praise God, we harden our
- 22:13hearts, we stiff arm him. We choose to go to hell.
- 22:20There's so many people who have been given chance after chance
- 22:24after chance after chance. And by the way, if you woke up
- 22:27today, you have another chance. Surrender to the King of Kings
- 22:31and the Lord of Lords. Surrender to him, friends.
- 22:36Give your entire self over to him.
- 22:38Submit to his will. Submit to his ways.
- 22:42Get in this good book, learn all about them.
- 22:45Surrender and be obedient. Love causes us to obey friends.
- 22:5438 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. 39 For I say
- 23:01unto you, you shall not see me henceforth, until you shall say,
- 23:06Blessed is he that comes in the name of the Lord.
- 23:08You can see the Jews coming back.
- 23:11You can see the Jews placing their faith in the Lord Jesus
- 23:15Christ as their Messiah. You can see he's referencing the
- 23:19dispersion of the Jews all over the world after 8070.
- 23:23You were seeing him actually bring them back into that land
- 23:27in 1948. You can see all of the prophets
- 23:30off the seas right here in this one little chapter.
- 23:32How amazing is this book that we hold in our hands.
- 23:35I hope you've been blessed by this chapter.
- 23:37Here we are traveling down some much traveled roads here.
- 23:45There's ruts all in this road. Friends, we got to gain some
- 23:51traction here. We're about to hit one of the
- 23:54most messianic chapters and all of the Bible.
- 24:00It's going to be a fun one. Make sure you bring your running
- 24:04shoes. We can run this race well.
- 24:08I love every single one of you. Praying for you.
- 24:16Hope you've been blessed by this.
- 24:17See you back here tomorrow. God bless you.
