- 0:00I look to the left and Brie's feeling like she's
- 0:02discombobulated, falling through the floor, and
- 0:04I look to the right and there's a bunch of people
- 0:05trying to see ghosts in portal mirrors, and I'm
- 0:09just like, where the fuck am I? What's going
- 0:13on? Coming up... The whole time we were in Gettysburg,
- 0:16I could not get my brain off the Jetty Wade house.
- 0:19Yeah! So you guys know the phrase, if these walls
- 0:22could talk? Yes. To me, that phrase means that...
- 0:29Sometimes you can look at, like, an inanimate
- 0:31structure and just, I don't know, like, feel
- 0:37like you're looking at a structure with a soul.
- 0:40Yeah. So people talk about, like, buildings that
- 0:43have a striking image. Like, everyone talks about,
- 0:45like, the Amityville house. Like, that house
- 0:47looks like it has eyes watching you, right? Which
- 0:51are, like, some houses where you can feel there's
- 0:56shit going on in it. Yeah, more than that, though,
- 1:00like, there's shit going on, and they're opening
- 1:02their mouth to tell you. Yeah. Which is weird,
- 1:06and I've always heard that and never experienced
- 1:09it, but I'm sure we've all, like, seen a house
- 1:12where, like, that house looks like it has a story
- 1:14to tell. Yeah. It wasn't until a couple months
- 1:17ago when not only did a house have that look,
- 1:21but it actually grabbed me, stopped me on the
- 1:24street, and looked me in the eyes. and told me
- 1:29to listen. I'm talking about the Jenny Wade house.
- 1:35Welcome to our podcast where we take deep dives
- 1:37looking at various topics through a paranormal
- 1:39lens. We've never done really, I don't think,
- 1:44like a very specific episode just on like one
- 1:48place. But let's do it now for a place we went
- 1:53to for all of 20 minutes. Yeah. But had such
- 1:58a lasting impact. It was, honestly. I mean, just
- 2:02like you, I felt the same way about the Jenny
- 2:05Wade house. There was just something about that
- 2:08house. Something about the house and the story
- 2:14behind Jenny Wade. The feeling that was just
- 2:18coming from that house that just left a lasting
- 2:21impression. And, like, I mean... We all we all
- 2:27were saying pretty much the same thing while
- 2:28we were there. It's like we were a little obsessed
- 2:31with the Jenny Wade house. But it's funny because
- 2:34we'll get into it. But I had no I could not relate
- 2:38to your feelings at all until the next day. But
- 2:41we'll get into that for very brief context. We
- 2:45just submitted our write up our little essay
- 2:49piece on the remote contact presentation we did
- 2:53at the paranormal research symposium, which was
- 2:54in. gettysburg and that will be published in
- 2:57the journal this coming april so stay tuned for
- 2:59that that's a lot of fun um great event and we
- 3:02will be having some guests on soon probably throughout
- 3:052027 leading up to next year's symposium um that
- 3:09we met at you know this previous one uh great
- 3:12event and when we're in gettysburg we stayed
- 3:16at a hotel that is Pretty much connected to the
- 3:19- Like, as connected as you can be without actually
- 3:21- Yeah. It was like the building right next door.
- 3:23Yeah. You can walk to the end of the balcony
- 3:25and pretty much look through the windows of the
- 3:28Jenny Wade house. Which we did at midnight. 100
- 3:31% during a thunderstorm. Yeah. Oh, so when we
- 3:34were there that night, there was like a freak
- 3:37storm. Probably nothing. Like, if we were in
- 3:40Michigan, it would have been nothing. But Gettysburg,
- 3:42I don't think it's prepared for that shit. And
- 3:43the streets were, like, flooding. Absolutely
- 3:46flooded. Dude, it was so cool. It was like cars
- 3:49were driving by and creating waves. It was so
- 3:52flooded. Yeah, it was a waterfall. Like, because
- 3:54we're on a hill. And so it was literally like
- 3:58two feet of water going down this freaking street,
- 4:02it looked like. Yeah, and you go out on her balcony
- 4:05of her hotel, walk down, you can literally reach
- 4:08out. If we had like a fucking selfie stick, we
- 4:10could have poked the Jenny Wade house. Like,
- 4:14it was that close. But we did take out, like,
- 4:18the spirit box and stuff. And, like, the energy
- 4:20was crazy that night. Remember, like, the spirit
- 4:23box was saying stuff. We were all, like, riled
- 4:25up. And, like, you could just feel, like, the
- 4:27streets were alive that night. Oh, yeah. Yeah.
- 4:30Just the energy from the storms. I know we did
- 4:32a podcast episode on possible energy from storms
- 4:37and weather events. And it seems crazy. But,
- 4:40like, you could really feel it in downtown Gettysburg.
- 4:45I feel like it's a combination. It's like there's
- 4:46already... I mean, everyone knows what Gettysburg
- 4:49is. We don't need to explain Gettysburg. But
- 4:51just in case you don't know or you forgot, Jenny
- 4:53Wade was the only civilian killed in the Battle
- 4:57of Gettysburg. So this house, there's still the
- 5:00bullet holes of... A lot of bullet holes. Yes,
- 5:05yes, but the actual ones, the real ones, from
- 5:07when Jenny Wade, the only civilian killed in
- 5:09the Battle of Gettysburg, was killed right there,
- 5:11and we were right next to it. And, you know,
- 5:13the whole place was a fucking battlefield, so
- 5:14there... Who knows if our hotel was haunted,
- 5:18if the grounds are haunted. I think there's a
- 5:20combination of when all that stuff gets, like,
- 5:23washed up, you know, like, that's... Because
- 5:27that town of Gettysburg... We don't experience
- 5:30that in Michigan, really. Like, we felt that,
- 5:33Ange, in New Orleans. Like, you turn on the spirit
- 5:35box and it's like a portal. I felt that in Gettysburg,
- 5:37too, to an extent. Yeah. Yeah. But anyways, as
- 5:42part of the Paranormal Research Symposium, we
- 5:45got, like, a VIP, like, ghost tour of the Jenny
- 5:49Wade House and the old orphanage. We were in
- 5:53the Jenny Wade House on this ghost tour. It was,
- 5:55like, at, like, 9 or 10 o 'clock at night. And
- 5:59as part of it, you know, we had a nighttime tour
- 6:02of the house and had about 20, 30 minutes to
- 6:04do a little investigation. It was packed in there.
- 6:07There were a lot of people. But still, you got
- 6:09to take pictures and use equipment and whatnot.
- 6:13And Bree, I think you were, I wasn't feeling
- 6:18anything at all in there. But you, you kept telling
- 6:21me stuff you were feeling. Yeah, it was weird.
- 6:23Because, like, I mean, you know me. Like, I'm
- 6:26not. that much in like more recently i've come
- 6:32to like try to lean more into trusting my own
- 6:36natural instincts and like recognizing hey my
- 6:39body is like having these sorts of reactions
- 6:42because there's something going on and on that
- 6:47first floor because you walk the door to the
- 6:50entrance of the jenny wade house that you walk
- 6:52through is exactly in the spot pretty much where
- 6:56jenny wade died like And just standing in that
- 7:00same place, same area, like, I felt like the
- 7:06floor was uneven. It felt a little off balance,
- 7:10which is odd, but like, you can throw it off
- 7:12as being like, okay, the floor is old and uneven.
- 7:16Like, it's probably just the flooring. Like,
- 7:21you can chalk it up to something like that. Well,
- 7:24you get upstairs and they're like, oh yeah, the
- 7:26floor downstairs is like... is not original it's
- 7:29not original it's newer it's been replaced but
- 7:32the floor up here is not so you will feel a little
- 7:35uneven i didn't feel uneven upstairs upstairs
- 7:38was fine i was like yeah okay so it wasn't the
- 7:43floor maybe it was something more and because
- 7:46i was fine upstairs it was just an odd feeling
- 7:50of just feeling off i don't know how to describe
- 7:54it other than that and there's a lot of like
- 7:58mirrors they say are like uh people catch apparitions
- 8:02feel weird looking into them i don't know so
- 8:05for me i wasn't feeling anything but i looked
- 8:08to the left and breeze feeling like she's discombobulated
- 8:11falling through the floor and i look to the right
- 8:13there's a bunch of people trying to see ghosts
- 8:16in portal mirrors and i'm just like where the
- 8:19fuck am i what's going on like that that's like
- 8:23a fun house like A literal fun house. You go
- 8:26through, like, there's literally the wall mirrors
- 8:29over there that people see weird shit in. Then
- 8:32you go over there and you're like, ooh, trippy,
- 8:35you know, and falling over. It really was like
- 8:39a fun house. But not because of the ghosts. I
- 8:42was just chilling the whole time. You were chilling
- 8:44the whole time? I, like, I could tell, like,
- 8:46there's something there, but I didn't. That's
- 8:51what I'm saying. I was in the same boat. I was
- 8:52just chilling, but then looking around, not because
- 8:55of the ghost, but just because of like how crazy
- 8:57everything around was just being like, where
- 8:59the fuck am I? But then the next day was the
- 9:05day that, you know, we had the ghost hunt and,
- 9:08you know, like I was saying, the storm and we,
- 9:11you know, we're outside on the balcony looking
- 9:13at Jenny Wade house with the streets flooding
- 9:16and something that night, I think I just. I just
- 9:20got so compelled to just stare at the Jenny Waite
- 9:22house. Like, I could have just stared at it all
- 9:25night. Yeah. Yeah, same. Like, we were doing
- 9:29stuff in our hotel room trying to, like, do an
- 9:33investigation, doing spirit box, doing cat balls,
- 9:36whatever. We were getting a lot of things. And
- 9:39this storm just hit. And we're like, oh my god,
- 9:42this is intense. And I'm pretty sure we both,
- 9:46like, at the same time got the urge of, we need
- 9:49to go down to the jenny wade house like we both
- 9:53kind of ran down there and we're just watching
- 9:56and just staring at the jenny wade house like
- 9:59something was going to happen and like i swear
- 10:02to god i took like a hundred pictures because
- 10:04i'm like something's got to be there there's
- 10:07nothing there oh sorry i think jenny wade might
- 10:10have hacked my computer i'm kidding but also
- 10:14that was kind of weird my cursor i wasn't touching
- 10:16my computer my cursor Moved on its own. And clicked
- 10:20on. Like Safari. Which has the remote contact.
- 10:26Thing where. We just turned in. The Google Doc
- 10:30of it. And I had set it to dark mode. Because
- 10:34I was working with you on it Bree. And you wanted
- 10:36it on dark mode. The cursor moved. Clicked on
- 10:39the Google Doc. It went off dark mode. And then
- 10:43back on dark mode. What? Yeah. It doesn't like
- 10:49the dark mode! You'll probably see on my Zoom
- 10:53thing that I went bright for a second because
- 10:56it flashed a... That's so weird. It's a little
- 11:00weird. So I have the document open from Gettysburg
- 11:05and it's just like, while we're talking. They
- 11:07were probably like, oh, this is interesting.
- 11:09I can't see it though. Let's turn it on. Let's
- 11:11turn off dark mode. Oh, that's terrible. Turn
- 11:13dark mode off. Do you think because it's too
- 11:17dark in the spiritual realm, they need the...
- 11:22Anyways, but yeah. Yeah, so we were both compelled
- 11:27to go stare at the house. And then ever since
- 11:30the next day after that, so we're now two days
- 11:34removed from the literally 20 minutes we spent
- 11:37in the Jenny Wade house. Were you guys still
- 11:39thinking about the Jenny Wade house? Because
- 11:40I was. Yes. Like, the whole time we were in Gettysburg,
- 11:45I could not get my brain off the Jenny Wade house.
- 11:47Yeah. Which, I didn't even feel anything there.
- 11:51We were there for 20 minutes. All I could do
- 11:54was think about it. Yeah. You know what's interesting?
- 11:59And what finally, like, stopped, like, reset
- 12:06my brain from thinking about the Jenny Wade house?
- 12:09What? Going to Jenny Wade's grave. Oh. Yeah,
- 12:15I got the chills. Yeah, talk about that. paid
- 12:19our respects because we couldn't stop thinking
- 12:21about her yeah and then like the rest of the
- 12:25time it's like okay there's the jenny wade house
- 12:27don't need to stop and take pictures of it again
- 12:29like i don't like because every time we were
- 12:33passing by it i was like i need to take pictures
- 12:35of it i need to like it's the jenny wade house
- 12:38but then like after we went to jenny wayne's
- 12:40grave and paid our respects it was like okay
- 12:43like it can settle in my brain now like so weird
- 12:50I don't know. I've never had that kind of, like,
- 12:52obsession, compulsion about anything, really,
- 12:57ever. Like, my brain was just so stuck on that
- 13:01house. It stuck with me past then. Like, it's
- 13:05good that that solved it. Like, even now, like,
- 13:10yes, Jenny Wade's, the house and the story of
- 13:13Jenny Wade are still, like, amplified in my brain,
- 13:17but I'm not stuck on it anymore. Right. For me,
- 13:21it wasn't until the very last day we were in
- 13:24Gettysburg. I got up early that morning, got
- 13:27breakfast, and you guys were still kind of sleeping,
- 13:29and I said, I'm going for a walk. I wanted to
- 13:32go for a walk, but I didn't pass Jenny Wade House.
- 13:36Well, I passed the Jenny Wade House, but then
- 13:38I stopped, and I didn't go any further, and I
- 13:40was just looking up at the Jenny Wade House for
- 13:43probably longer than we were even in there for
- 13:46the ghost tour. This was at, like, 8 in the morning.
- 13:50There was no one in there. Like, all the lights
- 13:53were off. There was, like, literally no one in
- 13:55there. But it felt like the house was watching
- 13:56me back. Like, I've never felt that before. And
- 14:00then suddenly it all clicked. Everything you
- 14:02were saying, Bree, about the house and everything
- 14:04about the feelings you got, I felt that from
- 14:06the sidewalk. It felt like the house was looking
- 14:09at me, which is the weirdest thing. Even before,
- 14:13when I was like, I gotta look at the house. I
- 14:16never felt like the house was watching back.
- 14:18Maybe spirits were inside the windows, but the
- 14:21house itself. And that was just kind of what
- 14:24I was saying at the top, like, if these walls
- 14:26could talk. It felt like the walls and the house
- 14:28itself was trying to say something or reach out.
- 14:32And then I finally, you know, was satisfied after
- 14:36a while. And I went back, and you were like,
- 14:38where did you go? And I was like, I went for
- 14:40a walk. You were like, that was a long walk.
- 14:43I'm like, yep, I walked five feet. I mean, you
- 14:48kind of got to think about it, though. I feel
- 14:52like we've gone to a lot of haunted houses and
- 14:57stuff like that. Lots of haunted locations. A
- 15:00lot of haunted locations. We don't really go
- 15:04to people's haunted houses or whatever, but we
- 15:07drive past haunted houses that have been on TV
- 15:11or we watch documentaries about. And none of
- 15:14them really speak. You know? Yeah. Like, I mean,
- 15:18they have a lot of stories. They have a lot of
- 15:21things to say. They have a lot. But there was
- 15:23something different. Yeah. That's the thing.
- 15:26Like, when you go to Jenny Wade's house, it's
- 15:29like, I feel like it has a soul in a way. Yeah.
- 15:33You felt that too. But you also gotta think about
- 15:35it too. Like, there's a traumatic thing that
- 15:39happened there during a traumatic point in history.
- 15:42Surrounded by a bunch of traumaticness. if that's
- 15:47a word but and with the amount of people that
- 15:51come tour that place walk past that place know
- 15:56about that place i feel like it takes pieces
- 15:59of people's like soul and makes it its own soul
- 16:04you know and you are so right because every time
- 16:08people go there the tour guides encourage people
- 16:11to look in the mirror and look in the mirrors
- 16:14and what do they say about mirrors right They
- 16:18capture your reflection. They capture your reflection.
- 16:21So like literally they capture your reflection.
- 16:25So if all these people are going with the intention
- 16:27to speak to the house and speak to Jenny and
- 16:31they are being encouraged to look in the mirrors.
- 16:33It's like taking a part of you and it's making
- 16:35something its own, you know? Yeah. This, this
- 16:39house and come to think of it. It literally feels
- 16:41like it has a heartbeat. Yeah. And I had never
- 16:45been to a place that feels like that before.
- 16:49they can probably take out all the mirrors inside
- 16:51there and it would still feel like that the house
- 16:54would still reflect something back to you that's
- 16:56yeah that's a good way to put it that's what
- 16:58i felt i felt like it wasn't so much it was like
- 17:02the best kind of conversation where it reflects
- 17:03something back like it speaks back but it's not
- 17:05so much the house is talking to you or answering
- 17:07your questions it is reflecting back what you
- 17:10need to know yeah good way of putting it you
- 17:16know it's this is gonna be a controversial take
- 17:19here I don't even know if... I feel like Angela's
- 17:22going to be, like, disagreeing. What? I don't
- 17:25know about her. So, on this road trip to Gettysburg,
- 17:27where did we go? We went on our way to Pennsylvania.
- 17:30We hit up, like, every haunted spot on the way
- 17:32in Pennsylvania. Every haunted spot we possibly
- 17:35could. Yeah, in Pennsylvania. Yeah, we went to
- 17:37Hillview Manor, Crescent Sanitarium, Canberra
- 17:43County Old Jail. And literally everywhere in
- 17:46Gettysburg. Everywhere in Gettysburg. Was that...
- 17:51I mean, I still... huge list of eight or nine
- 17:53places but um i feel like jenny wade out of all
- 18:03the structures i i can place myself looking at
- 18:11jenny wade's house right now more than i can
- 18:15accurately describe the feeling of any other
- 18:19location we went to more than hillview manor
- 18:22i i know what jenny wade felt like More than
- 18:26Crescent Sanitarium, more than Cambria County
- 18:28Jail, which, stay tuned, we have a project coming
- 18:31out in a couple weeks about our experience there.
- 18:35But that's a huge, daunting prison. You look
- 18:38at that place and it's just imposing, daunting.
- 18:40You get a little freaked out. But it doesn't
- 18:44speak to you like Jenny Wade. I can literally
- 18:47put myself back on the sidewalk in front of Jenny
- 18:51Wade's house in terms of a feeling. I can tell
- 18:55you how Jenny Wade House felt before I can tell
- 18:59you. I mean, obviously, Crescent Sanitarium is
- 19:01the coolest fucking place ever. Yeah. And that
- 19:04would be, like, my number one place to go back
- 19:05to. But same with Canberra County Jail. Incredible
- 19:08place. Would go there in a heartbeat tomorrow
- 19:10if I could, and it was an area. But Jenny Wade's
- 19:14house, the feeling was the most palpable. Yeah.
- 19:19I can... I can... kind of agree with that because
- 19:24i i also did like kind of have a different experience
- 19:28at cambria compared to you guys like oh way different
- 19:31emotionally but yeah the person wasn't even still
- 19:35talking exactly like jenny wade's house still
- 19:41left more of an impression on me even though
- 19:45i was more emotionally impressionable from cambria
- 19:50i got a perfect comparison Well, perfect comparison
- 19:54for me. Okay, so you guys all know the cartoon,
- 19:58the kids' movie, Monster House? Yeah. That's
- 20:02kind of what it feels like. Really? Except it's
- 20:05not like a monster. Oh, because, like, I get
- 20:09what you're saying, because the house in Monster
- 20:11House, it became living because it was actually,
- 20:16like, a human emotion. Yeah. I kind of understand
- 20:22what you're saying, but not in a negative sense
- 20:24like the Monster House was. Yeah, you know what
- 20:27I mean? That's how I feel. So it's like, think
- 20:34of the Black Lodge, White Lodge. You got Black
- 20:37Lodge, Monster House, and the inverse of that.
- 20:39Same concept, but just the opposite of Jenny
- 20:43White House, a positive emotion. Yeah. but also
- 20:47positive emotion yeah it's because it's not i
- 20:49was gonna say positive this doesn't seem necessarily
- 20:52right but it's also not like dark or whatever
- 20:54so the feeling that i felt on that main floor
- 20:58and what made me feel so uneven and like so just
- 21:04off it was grief it was sadness it wasn't it
- 21:10was just that sudden like it was it felt like
- 21:13i was there in that sudden shock and awe of what
- 21:16happened in that event without actually being
- 21:20there. Yeah. So it was that mix of emotion that
- 21:28you can't quite interpret, but you know it's
- 21:32not positive, but you know it's not necessarily
- 21:35negative. Does that lend itself to stronger emotions,
- 21:41you think? like you go to a prison you know it's
- 21:45all going to be negative so it's like it's negative
- 21:47it's negative it's negative it's exactly how
- 21:49you felt or positive it's like you're talking
- 21:51to your grandmother or whatever it's like okay
- 21:55it's all sugar and rainbows or whatever but that
- 21:59gray area maybe it leaves a greater impact because
- 22:03it sits with you longer of like trying to figure
- 22:05out what it was yeah i don't know maybe it's
- 22:11possible I don't know. It's just that house was
- 22:16different. That's all I can say. That's the point
- 22:20of this, yeah. Way different. I wonder if other
- 22:25people have had the same thoughts. Same experience.
- 22:31How many other people come to Gettysburg, look
- 22:36at the Jenny Wade house, and then can't get their
- 22:39mind off of it? Just curious. I don't know. He
- 22:45can't just put a poll out there. Oh, did you
- 22:47visit the Jenny Wade house while you were in
- 22:49Gettysburg? How long did you think about it afterwards?
- 22:53It's not like a question you can ask. I mean,
- 22:56you could, but no one's going to respond. People
- 23:00might not understand. I mean, maybe by the time
- 23:04they finish listening to this, which this episode
- 23:06is going to be longer than the entire duration
- 23:08we spent inside the house. Yeah, that's the weird
- 23:12thing. Maybe by the end of this they can respond
- 23:18and know what we're talking about. If you've
- 23:22been to Gettysburg and you've been to the Jenny
- 23:24Wade's house or if you've ever even just looked
- 23:27at the Jenny Wade's house or have heard the story
- 23:31while you were in Gettysburg, how long afterwards
- 23:36or how long did that stick in your brain? Tell
- 23:41us. We want to know. You know what's really weird
- 23:44too? that we should probably mention before we
- 23:47end this this was right at the start of the year
- 23:52so like this the symposium was in august of 2026
- 23:56right at the start like in january or february
- 23:59one of the first antique stores i went to of
- 24:02the year i randomly found a old like from the
- 24:0870s or 80s jenny wade house uh souvenir pocket
- 24:13mirror interesting And I got it. And this was
- 24:20before I think it was even confirmed that we
- 24:23were going to Gettysburg or anything. Had no
- 24:25knowledge of the symposium. Well, I submitted
- 24:28to the symposium, but I didn't know we were actually
- 24:30going. And I got it, you know, just because I
- 24:33thought it was cool. And, you know, this is real.
- 24:38It has real weight to it. It's not like the cheap
- 24:40souvenirs you get now. This is old. It's vintage.
- 24:43It has weight to it. It's an antique. It's made
- 24:47out of glass. Thick glass. It's an old pocket
- 24:52mirror. It has the Jenny Wade house on it. And
- 24:55I totally kind of forgot about this, to be honest.
- 25:00We just kind of had it on our shelf with our
- 25:02random shit behind the haunted shit. So we have
- 25:06the haunted shit and the historical shit. And
- 25:08when we do the live streams, we move the haunted
- 25:11shit up front. So I kind of forgot about that,
- 25:14but then... after we came back from gettysburg
- 25:17which i did not know we were going at the time
- 25:19i was like hey you don't have that pocket mirror
- 25:21of the journey weight house and i took it out
- 25:23it's not the same photo like i think the perspective
- 25:28it must have been before the hotel we stayed
- 25:31at was built because it was like i think it was
- 25:33a different view yeah whoever's taking the photo
- 25:36is was standing where the hotel is now yeah because
- 25:40i got a postcard while we were At the Jenny Wade
- 25:44house as well. Because there's a gift shop on
- 25:45the back side. And the view is different as well.
- 25:49So. And I can't figure out what the orientation
- 25:52is. Yeah. I'd have to put myself back there.
- 25:54I think the hotel that. The hotel we stayed at
- 25:57was not original to the time. Yeah. It's newer.
- 26:01And must not have been there at the time this.
- 26:04Souvenir was made. And time here. That photo.
- 26:09That must have been the old photo spot. But if
- 26:12that souvenir, you know, postcard he got even
- 26:16now is from a different perspective. That was
- 26:19just so weird to me. I totally expected to find
- 26:21it, which I did. And I totally expected, like,
- 26:24being transpired again. I was just a little confused.
- 26:27I'm like, this doesn't look the same. Like, I
- 26:29can't look at that photo and put myself back
- 26:31there, which is weird. Yeah, it is. Because,
- 26:35like, I feel the same way. Because I got, like,
- 26:38a postcard picture of it. Because I'm like, I
- 26:39just need. a souvenir of the jenny wade house
- 26:43and like looking at the picture like i mean it
- 26:47doesn't i feel like it doesn't do its justice
- 26:50you know yeah no yeah it doesn't capture the
- 26:56emotion of what the jenny wade house is no i
- 27:03mean that's the whole thing is like pictures
- 27:06can only capture so much but they can't capture
- 27:09the emotion so it's deep A thousand words, zero
- 27:15emotions, right? Yeah. That's how the saying
- 27:19goes. A hundred pictures and nothing there. My
- 27:24photos are so deceiving. You know, people look
- 27:27at a photo and think someone's all happy and
- 27:30living the best life, but then deep down there's,
- 27:33you know, shit. So a better phrase could be a
- 27:39hundred pictures. Or one picture can hide a hundred
- 27:44emotions. Yeah, that's a way better way of putting
- 27:47it. Yeah, not a picture's worth a thousand words.
- 27:51A picture hides a hundred emotions. Well, why
- 27:54did we make this sad now? This is like, we ended
- 27:57on a good place. It's not, you don't have to
- 28:00make it sad. It's just sad. It doesn't necessarily
- 28:02mean sad. It kind of does. It could be. I don't
- 28:11know. Take it how you want it. Take it how you
- 28:13want it. Who are we to say? We're just some kids
- 28:18making a podcast. Yeah, we're just some... Yeah.
- 28:26Being ghost hunters. Being ghost hunters. We
- 28:34make podcasts. That's how we're fucking ending
- 28:37this thing? Man, I don't know what else to say
- 28:40about Jenny Wade. No, I mean, yeah. There's so
- 28:44much to say, and so, like, but you can only say
- 28:48so much without, like, sounding like a blabbering
- 28:51idiot saying the same thing over and over again.
- 28:55Yeah. Yeah. But also, like, I don't know. I mean,
- 28:59we don't need to say anything about Jenny Wade,
- 29:00but the ending can't be sad. I mean, there's
- 29:03a lot to say about Jenny Wade. Yeah, true, true.
- 29:05I mean, do you want to say anything? Because
- 29:06the ending went from sad to stupid, so. I mean.
- 29:11Jenny Wade died very young. And it's sad what
- 29:14happened to her. I mean, anything we say about
- 29:16Jenny Wade is still going to end the podcast
- 29:18on a sad note. Yeah, but it's more like historical
- 29:23and like tied to what we're talking about. Not
- 29:25like, hey, that Instagram photo of me is hiding
- 29:28a hundred emotions you didn't even know I had.
- 29:31I'm so undiagnosed right now. It's not even funny.
- 29:35So, what? That's what she said. No, but isn't
- 29:46it that Jenny Wade wasn't even supposed to, that
- 29:49wasn't even her house. That was like her sister's
- 29:51house, right? Oh, there's a ghost in the background.
- 29:54Yeah. Oh, geez. That's, that's kind of spooky
- 29:59to me. Oh my gosh. Anyone watching the YouTube
- 30:10version. Freaking the fuck out right now. You
- 30:13shouldn't have even said anything, because that
- 30:15would have been so freaky. The ghost of Jenny
- 30:18Wade is cat. First she hacked my computer, now
- 30:20she's in Brianna's video. What was that? My mother.
- 30:27Oh. Sorry. That was disrespectful to everyone.
- 30:31That was your mother? I mean, she walked in and
- 30:35was playing a video for me. No, that's not what
- 30:37I meant. That's not what I meant. I meant, like,
- 30:38Ben called your mother that, so I said that.
- 30:42Yeah. You know, last episode... Never mind. Yeah.
- 30:53What? I was going to say, last episode, everyone's
- 30:56going to remember Daddy. This one, they're going
- 30:57to remember Mommy. You need to end this now.
- 31:02No, but my point is... It's not even appropriate
- 31:06to say it now. I was just going to say, isn't
- 31:08it that Jenny Wade wasn't even supposed to be
- 31:10there that day? That was her sister's house,
- 31:12technically. They call it the Jenny Wade house,
- 31:15but it wasn't even Jenny Wade's house. It was
- 31:19her sister's house. Her mother was there as well.
- 31:25And she just so happened, she didn't have to
- 31:28be there. No, she didn't have to be there. She
- 31:31was just in the kitchen. She didn't have to be
- 31:33in the kitchen. She was there for a couple different
- 31:38reasons. Because of the battle going on, she
- 31:41felt it would be safer to not be in her home
- 31:44by herself. And two, her sister had just had
- 31:48a child, so she had went to also help. Because
- 31:52she had other kids. And so she was making bread
- 31:57in the morning. The theory is that Confederate
- 32:03soldiers saw movement inside of the house, not
- 32:07realizing that not all the civilians had been
- 32:10evacuated, because at that point, all of the
- 32:13civilians should have been evacuated, or most
- 32:16of them had been. And the Confederates did not
- 32:21think that there was people still in there, and
- 32:25if they were, they were likely Union soldiers,
- 32:27so they started open firing. and um jenny wade
- 32:34almost instantly died and you go and look at
- 32:37her house or where her house is i don't know
- 32:40if her house is still there or not but i don't
- 32:44know yeah i i don't i don't recall but her house
- 32:48was untouched in that battle so the possibility
- 32:52there is that strong possibility that if she
- 32:56didn't leave home to go stay with her sister
- 33:02she could have lived that being said there's
- 33:05always that possibility that the confederates
- 33:06could have thought the same thing that oh there's
- 33:09movement inside of this house it could be a union
- 33:11soldier and done the same but who's to say yeah
- 33:16there's always possibilities but like i think
- 33:18the point is like it's so sad to think she didn't
- 33:21have to die yeah she didn't have to and i think
- 33:24that's what makes the haunting so strong and
- 33:27why it lingers because she didn't have to And
- 33:31the fact that the only reason that they were
- 33:36able to escape the rest of the family without
- 33:38injury was because an artillery shell, a whole
- 33:44artillery shell, got shot into their house on
- 33:49the second floor and broke the wall but didn't
- 33:52explode. So they were able to get through the
- 33:56divider wall to get to the opposite side and
- 33:59escape the house. Or at least get into the cellar.
- 34:03Yeah. So, it's insane. Like, every single, like,
- 34:09circumstance that happened during that battle
- 34:13and during that instance of Jenny Wade unfortunately
- 34:16getting killed could not, like, be any more,
- 34:24like, I don't want to say perfect. Perfect isn't
- 34:27the right word. But, like, how much coincidence
- 34:34is like i don't know it all lined up yeah to
- 34:41the point where it's like how how did this line
- 34:44up just adds to the tragedy just adds to the
- 34:47tragedy it's very interesting so so that's the
- 34:51jenny wade house that's the jenny wade house
- 34:54the house that speaks to us you can tell it's
- 34:57still in my brain because i still like remember
- 34:59like i remember everything about that story Like,
- 35:04I knew nothing about Jenny Wade before I went
- 35:06to Gettysburg. And if there's one thing I remember,
- 35:09which I don't remember a lot from Gettysburg,
- 35:14I remember every single bit of that Jenny Wade
- 35:17story. Like, the facts, the lore, like, everything.
- 35:24I know it all. It's stuck there. I think we're
- 35:30done. Yep. Thanks for listening to this week's
