- 0:00Speaker 1: Ariel Hawane was emotional before the series started.
- 0:03Speaker 2: He's even more emotional now.
- 0:05Speaker 1: We talked about crying multiple times headed into the series.
- 0:08Speaker 1: Last night, I was texting with him after the game
- 0:10Speaker 1: three More, Three More. He said he had moved from
- 0:13Speaker 1: his couch thirty minutes after the game was over. He
- 0:17Speaker 1: was frozen on his couch and I too was frozen
- 0:20Speaker 1: on my couch. He is the host of the Ariel
- 0:22Speaker 1: Hawaane Show. It is live on on Crowned and on
- 0:26Speaker 1: YouTube every day one o'clock on Ariel's with us right now?
- 0:31Speaker 2: Are you okay? How emotional are you right now?
- 0:35Speaker 3: I'm emotional. I'm exhausted. It took me ninety minutes to
- 0:38Speaker 3: get out the couch. But by the way, I was
- 0:40Speaker 3: loving every second of it. I was jumping around from
- 0:43Speaker 3: the MSG post show, to the ESPN post show, to
- 0:46Speaker 3: the local news post show, all those little things. I
- 0:48Speaker 3: was telling my wife. I was like, I can't believe
- 0:50Speaker 3: they're talking about this on the eleven o'clock news, but
- 0:54Speaker 3: we're talking to fans in Central Park about the NIXT
- 0:56Speaker 3: being three games away. I am savoring every single second
- 0:59Speaker 3: of the I felt like I was going to faint
- 1:02Speaker 3: in the first five minutes of the game. The pace
- 1:04Speaker 3: was so dizzying. They're wearing those stupid shirts, the pink,
- 1:08Speaker 3: the green of this and that no one's sitting down.
- 1:10Speaker 3: We're going back and forth, back and forth, back and forth.
- 1:13Speaker 3: I'm like, I don't know if I'm gonna be able
- 1:15Speaker 3: to handle this. I honestly don't know if I'm praying
- 1:18Speaker 3: for the sweep only because I don't think I will
- 1:21Speaker 3: be able to handle this physically, emotionally, mentally. But what
- 1:26Speaker 3: a win man, What a freaking this is such a
- 1:28Speaker 3: likable team. Gosh, they are so likable. I get emotional
- 1:32Speaker 3: talking about Jose Alvarado just stepping up when we needed them.
- 1:35Speaker 3: Sham it once again, Kat, once again, Jalen, what can
- 1:38Speaker 3: you say about this guy? What can you freaking say
- 1:40Speaker 3: about this guy? O g had that stretch there, Cat's
- 1:44Speaker 3: defense on Wendy. Dude, it feels like it. Honestly doesn't
- 1:48Speaker 3: feel real. I woke up today and I swear to god,
- 1:52Speaker 3: I looked at my phone and I went to Yahoo
- 1:54Speaker 3: Sports app and checked the score. I didn't feel like
- 1:58Speaker 3: that was real. And I can't believe we're sitting here
- 2:00Speaker 3: today up one nothing.
- 2:02Speaker 4: Ariel all the talk before the series was the Corgi
- 2:05Speaker 4: predicted the Spurs and seven the Corgi, the Corgi, the Cory.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Well guess what they underestiate the Dan Corgi.
- 2:12Speaker 4: Yeah we got dogs too, Ario.
- 2:15Speaker 3: Yeah tell ya, oh, real dogs, actual dogs. By the way,
- 2:19Speaker 3: I would like to see the full unedited clip of
- 2:22Speaker 3: that damn Corgi because I feel like they're cutting things up.
- 2:25Speaker 3: Who's to say that they're not, you know, like they're
- 2:27Speaker 3: doctoring this everything. Look, we know about nicks for clicks,
- 2:32Speaker 3: the loll knicks. Everyone in media knows that when you
- 2:35Speaker 3: clown on the knicks, it generates clicks. And so they're
- 2:38Speaker 3: doing this until the very end. What are they going
- 2:41Speaker 3: to say? What are they going to do? What are
- 2:42Speaker 3: they going to produce? In about pen orso day's time.
- 2:46Speaker 3: If this goes the way we all praying, never again,
- 2:49Speaker 3: you can never clown on us again. I don't believe
- 2:51Speaker 3: in that dog. I think it's a sham. I think
- 2:53Speaker 3: it's fake. It's pro wrestling, all right. I'm not getting
- 2:56Speaker 3: worked up. We've got freaking Jalen Brunton getting hurt, knee
- 3:00Speaker 3: walking in the back. My heart's down to my ankles,
- 3:02Speaker 3: steep back then his ankle. Oh my god, Jayleen, please,
- 3:06Speaker 3: please God, He's okay, no problem. It was masterful. What
- 3:09Speaker 3: about Mike Brown, I mean, this guy has never won
- 3:12Speaker 3: a championship as a head coach. He's been there before
- 3:14Speaker 3: everyone did you guys know I saw this yesterday. I
- 3:17Speaker 3: think I mentioned this in the morning. Exactly a year
- 3:19Speaker 3: ago yesterday, Tom Thibodeau was fired and everyone's clowned on us.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Right well, then after the game. I see ten years
- 3:28Speaker 3: ago yesterday, same day of Game one, was the introductory
- 3:32Speaker 3: press conference to the picture of Phil Jackson, Jeff Cornisex,
- 3:37Speaker 3: and Steve Mills. I mean, like the memories the PTSC,
- 3:41Speaker 3: that's what we were doing ten years ago yesterday, and
- 3:44Speaker 3: that's what we were doing last night. I mean, come on,
- 3:47Speaker 3: that's why this means so much to all of us.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Taylor put it on the poll. Is the corgy real?
- 3:54Speaker 3: No?
- 3:58Speaker 1: So wait, put us there kind of you glossed over
- 4:01Speaker 1: the Brunston moment, the two moments where he got injured.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Put us in your living room.
- 4:05Speaker 1: As he got injured the first time because my family
- 4:08Speaker 1: was freaking out.
- 4:08Speaker 2: They thought it was bad. What do you think?
- 4:11Speaker 3: Okay? Can I be honest with you? You know, I watch
- 4:14Speaker 3: almost every second of every game. It feels like every
- 4:17Speaker 3: five or so six or six games whatever, he gets hurt,
- 4:20Speaker 3: he goes to the locker room and then he just reappears.
- 4:23Speaker 3: This happens there's it's at least five to six times
- 4:27Speaker 3: a year where I think something completely awful has happened
- 4:30Speaker 3: to this guy and he re emerges. And so this
- 4:32Speaker 3: one felt on the scale of like those incidents, this
- 4:35Speaker 3: one felt rather pedestrian. If I'm being honest, he's just
- 4:39Speaker 3: a freaking gamer. What about Mitchell Robinson out there playing
- 4:41Speaker 3: digits on Webby and causing the travel like Michel Robertson,
- 4:44Speaker 3: the guy had surgery on it hand a week ago.
- 4:47Speaker 3: How did he have surgery? Why did he have surgery?
- 4:50Speaker 3: We still don't know. And he's just out there clamping
- 4:52Speaker 3: down with Yemma. Much respect to those guys, Man Champagne.
- 4:55Speaker 3: Thank god we were able to stop him in the
- 4:57Speaker 3: second half. Dylan Harper, I kend of Harper. Guys, was
- 5:01Speaker 3: thirteen when COVID started, and he's out there bullying us
- 5:05Speaker 3: in the paint thirteen. I was, oh COVID started, I
- 5:08Speaker 3: was yesterday, and he's out there doing his thing so
- 5:10Speaker 3: much respect to them, but I feel I feel like
- 5:13Speaker 3: we're a team of destiny. I just pray Man three away.
- 5:16Speaker 3: In ninety four, we didn't go up one oh and
- 5:18Speaker 3: ninety nine is certainly not. Last time was nineteen seventy two,
- 5:23Speaker 3: and unfortunately we lost that series. So I'm not trying
- 5:25Speaker 3: to get ahead of ourselves. But like, holy smoke, here
- 5:28Speaker 3: we are. I was just watching the watch party footage
- 5:31Speaker 3: at MSG. They exploded on one of the plays. I'm
- 5:33Speaker 3: not seeing the playoffs, just seeing the crowds, and I
- 5:35Speaker 3: started crying. I just started crying. This means so much.
- 5:40Speaker 3: I don't even know how to put into words.
- 5:42Speaker 1: How many times have you cried over the last two days?
- 5:46Speaker 2: How many times.
- 5:48Speaker 3: My kids are killing me? And I'm like, I don't care.
- 5:51Speaker 3: It's gonna get worse. Trust me, guys, it's going to
- 5:53Speaker 3: get worse. I don't even It's just constant, like it's
- 5:59Speaker 3: constant tears, Like it's just every video, every edit, every
- 6:03Speaker 3: shot of Patrick in the stands, Patrick ewing God lead,
- 6:06Speaker 3: this man has suffered so much, like every single shot
- 6:09Speaker 3: Kat talking about his mom feeling like she was in
- 6:12Speaker 3: the stands, the com god by the product right now
- 6:14Speaker 3: to talk to you about it. It's just it's too
- 6:16Speaker 3: much to handle. It's too much to handle, man. I
- 6:19Speaker 3: love these guys so much and the joy that they
- 6:21Speaker 3: have brought all of us, bringing our families together, bringing
- 6:24Speaker 3: our friends together. I mean like New York is on
- 6:26Speaker 3: fire right now. The city is on fire. It's the
- 6:28Speaker 3: greatest city in the world. I adore it with all
- 6:30Speaker 3: my heart and it's just so amazing to see the optimism,
- 6:33Speaker 3: the hope, the happiness. I'm not a Yankee fan, I'm
- 6:35Speaker 3: not a Giants fan, I'm not a Jets fan. I'm
- 6:37Speaker 3: not a Rangers fan. I'm just a Knicks fan. And
- 6:40Speaker 3: to experience this with all these people is something I
- 6:43Speaker 3: will truly never forget. But it will all be for
- 6:45Speaker 3: nought if they can't get it done. Let's let's not
- 6:47Speaker 3: be here to just you know, be happy and celebrate
- 6:49Speaker 3: one Oh. They've got to do this, They've got to
- 6:51Speaker 3: finish the job.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Yes, I think you're the perfect representation of Nick fans.
- 6:55Speaker 1: That just what we're feeling and what we're going through,
- 6:58Speaker 1: and how emotional we are and how close we are
- 7:01Speaker 1: to winning an NBA championship, and we want to get excited,
- 7:04Speaker 1: but we don't want to get too excited.
- 7:05Speaker 2: But we are getting carried away.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Because last of the night, I turned to my wife
- 7:09Speaker 1: and I said this Ariel, I said, because I'm feeling
- 7:11Speaker 1: good about myself, I said this one min Yama.
- 7:14Speaker 2: He's a bit overrated.
- 7:19Speaker 3: No, he is not over it. He's pretty beet terrifying.
- 7:21Speaker 3: He's like he's like an octopuss out there, Like I
- 7:24Speaker 3: really don't think he only has two hands. I don't
- 7:26Speaker 3: know how he contorts his body and is able to
- 7:29Speaker 3: adjust and look credit to the next like they clearly
- 7:33Speaker 3: there were times where they were testing him. There was
- 7:35Speaker 3: one play where Alvarado went around and got it right
- 7:37Speaker 3: off the glass, real quick to get the goaltend. Brilliant.
- 7:40Speaker 3: But I got to give Josh Hart man. I think
- 7:42Speaker 3: I didn't even mention Josh Hart. Josh Hart had more
- 7:44Speaker 3: rebounds than Victor woman Yama. This guy is unbelievable, fifteen rebounds.
- 7:48Speaker 3: And there was one key play I believe it was
- 7:50Speaker 3: ninety nine to ninety five. Josh gets the ball off
- 7:54Speaker 3: a turnover or maybe you know it was a rebound
- 7:57Speaker 3: and old Josh Hart goes down the court like a
- 8:00Speaker 3: rocket and sometimes loses the ball, sometimes gets stripped, sometimes
- 8:03Speaker 3: gets blogged, sometimes misses, sometimes makes it. He runs, there's
- 8:06Speaker 3: about fifty seconds left, and then he slows down, he
- 8:10Speaker 3: turns around and regroups, and then Jalen hits that crazy
- 8:14Speaker 3: like rainbow shot. Yeah, he just seems so smart, you know.
- 8:18Speaker 3: And the one thing that I feel like we have
- 8:20Speaker 3: to remember these guys are winners man. They've won before.
- 8:23Speaker 3: Josh Hart, Pickel Bridges, Jaylen Brenston. Of course, they've won
- 8:26Speaker 3: before on the biggest of stages. In fact, their last
- 8:28Speaker 3: national championship was in San Antonio. That means nothing. But
- 8:32Speaker 3: like those guys on the other side, they haven't won before.
- 8:35Speaker 3: They haven't they don't know what it means to close out.
- 8:38Speaker 3: Our boys know what it means to close out. So
- 8:40Speaker 3: it's just it's unbelievable. It's truly unbelievable. You know what
- 8:44Speaker 3: I was saying to my friend last night, Like I
- 8:46Speaker 3: have heard my whole life the old Heads, if you will,
- 8:50Speaker 3: wax poetic about nineteen seventy and nineteen seventy three, and
- 8:53Speaker 3: I feel like we are three games away from being
- 8:56Speaker 3: able to do that for the rest of our lives.
- 8:58Speaker 3: You know, the way they talk about at Holston and
- 9:00Speaker 3: the way they talk about Bill Bradley and Dave the
- 9:02Speaker 3: Busher and obviously Reid and Frasier and and and and
- 9:07Speaker 3: Earl of Pearl in nineteen seventy three when he joined
- 9:09Speaker 3: the team, Like, I listened to those stories and and
- 9:13Speaker 3: and I wish I could have experienced it. And we
- 9:15Speaker 3: are three went away from being able to have those
- 9:17Speaker 3: stories too. We'll be telling our grandchildren about og and
- 9:20Speaker 3: Kad and Alvarado and Jalen Michel and all that stuff. God,
- 9:24Speaker 3: I want nothing more in Lefe than that.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I sent your crying again.
- 9:29Speaker 1: I'll tell you this is what happens when we're when
- 9:31Speaker 1: we're karening and we're emotional. He made a loose connection
- 9:35Speaker 1: to Villanova, those guys winning a national championship in San Antonio.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Self edited himself and said, it has nothing.
- 9:41Speaker 3: To do with anything, but.
- 9:45Speaker 4: Yeah, right now, Ariel, is it strange the juxtaposition of
- 9:52Speaker 4: nerves and confidence you have at the same time. Whenever
- 9:55Speaker 4: the balls in Jalen Brunson's hand laid in game, I.
- 9:59Speaker 3: Mean, that's fine. One of my my my state for
- 10:02Speaker 3: the entire three hours. It's my state right now. I'm
- 10:05Speaker 3: like all times, we've watched enough finals where you're like
- 10:09Speaker 3: one team feels like a team of destiny, and one
- 10:11Speaker 3: team is just kind of fighting for their lives. One
- 10:14Speaker 3: team feels like the storybook you know that we've seen
- 10:17Speaker 3: and we're in that spot right now. But then I'm like, no, no, no, no, no,
- 10:21Speaker 3: you don't think that. Don't think that we're down. Oh
- 10:23Speaker 3: one fight, fight, guys, don't be over confident. We'll have
- 10:26Speaker 3: a whole summer and the rest of our lives to
- 10:28Speaker 3: puff our chest out. And so it's like this pomps
- 10:30Speaker 3: and like, holy pap, we're not just participants. In ninety nine,
- 10:33Speaker 3: we were participants that we had no chance in hell,
- 10:37Speaker 3: it wasn't even close. And even in ninety four it
- 10:39Speaker 3: felt like they were the deeper, more complete team and
- 10:41Speaker 3: they had their second you know, option and blah blah
- 10:43Speaker 3: blah blah. And here it's like we check off all
- 10:47Speaker 3: the boxes. I think we're deeper, I think we're more talented,
- 10:49Speaker 3: et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. And so it's like,
- 10:51Speaker 3: oh my god. But then it's like no, no, no, no, no, no,
- 10:53Speaker 3: you can't, you can't, you can't. We're not good. We're
- 10:54Speaker 3: not good. One body. So I'm constantly having this internal
- 10:57Speaker 3: dialogue with myself every moment of the day, which is
- 11:00Speaker 3: exhausting in its own rights. But there's nothing better. There's
- 11:02Speaker 3: nothing better. Can I tell you what's the greatest feeling
- 11:04Speaker 3: in the world? After that, By the time I get
- 11:06Speaker 3: to bed, it's like one am. And then you're sitting
- 11:08Speaker 3: there and you're you're just reliving everything. You're you're just
- 11:12Speaker 3: you know that you sit in here in your in
- 11:14Speaker 3: bed and you're just reliving all the highlights. And my
- 11:16Speaker 3: wife is like, you just watched this? No, no, no, that's
- 11:18Speaker 3: the best part. The best part is knowing how the
- 11:20Speaker 3: movie ends and getting to watch it with it all
- 11:22Speaker 3: without any anxiety. You guys know what I'm talking about, right,
- 11:25Speaker 3: But isn't that the best part? I've watched the highlights
- 11:27Speaker 3: four thousand times at this point, the Taylor said earlier,
- 11:31Speaker 3: He's been up all night.
- 11:33Speaker 1: He has not slept, not even a second, because he
- 11:35Speaker 1: keeps watching the highlight baggage on a watch area and.
- 11:41Speaker 3: It doesn't get old. I'm gonna do it all day.
- 11:43Speaker 3: I can't think of anything else. I cannot think of
- 11:46Speaker 3: anything else. It's just the best I can tell you.
- 11:48Speaker 3: The whole freaking fourth quarter off my heart at this point,
- 11:51Speaker 3: and I can't get enough.
- 11:53Speaker 2: I'd love to hear you do play the fourth quarter.
- 11:57Speaker 3: Off the top of my dome.
- 12:00Speaker 2: It's okay.
- 12:01Speaker 1: By the way, yesterday you discussed, uh, perhaps going to
- 12:05Speaker 1: a game at the Mecca.
- 12:06Speaker 2: I will tell you this. It's just got a lot
- 12:08Speaker 2: more expensive.
- 12:09Speaker 3: I know, I know, no trust me, I'm aware, I'm aware,
- 12:12Speaker 3: but golly, I feel like I need to do it. Well,
- 12:16Speaker 3: we're all going to die at some point. Let us
- 12:18Speaker 3: have this moment. I have to figure it out. I
- 12:21Speaker 3: have to figure it out everything any possible. I just
- 12:25Speaker 3: have to be there for at least one. I'd like
- 12:26Speaker 3: to be there at game three, in game six, if necessary,
- 12:29Speaker 3: all taps. But I think that Game three is going
- 12:33Speaker 3: to be unbelievable. I think that. I mean, at this point,
- 12:35Speaker 3: we're one one. I said, just take one and the
- 12:39Speaker 3: golden and now we can we take two? Is that possible?
- 12:42Speaker 3: Is that? Could you imagine? Could you imagine what the
- 12:45Speaker 3: scene would be up to going back?
- 12:47Speaker 2: Oh?
- 12:47Speaker 3: I don't even want to say it.
- 12:49Speaker 1: I just now you did the right thing there, you
- 12:51Speaker 1: whispered it, you got it. You turn the volume down.
- 12:54Speaker 2: You're like, could would be up game two. Could we
- 12:56Speaker 2: be up to nothing?
- 12:57Speaker 3: Right?
- 12:57Speaker 2: That's how you have to talk to you know.
- 12:59Speaker 1: We don't want to speak too loudly because we know
- 13:01Speaker 1: the alien is capable of putting up forty seven points
- 13:04Speaker 1: twenty two rebads And we go back one one and
- 13:07Speaker 1: all of a sudden, we're nervous again, because that's what
- 13:08Speaker 1: happens in these series.
- 13:10Speaker 3: You know, one hundred percent, and then you're starting to
- 13:13Speaker 3: doubt yourself and they have momentum, and now you want
- 13:15Speaker 3: to you know, you want to jump off a building.
- 13:17Speaker 3: The best feeling is the next forty eight hours that
- 13:20Speaker 3: we could just bask in the glow of this, but
- 13:22Speaker 3: then the anxiety will start to creep in at at
- 13:24Speaker 3: probably about like one o'clock tomorrow. So I'm enjoyed based
- 13:28Speaker 3: on how I was feeling yesterday exactly the time to now.
- 13:31Speaker 3: I mean, it's night and day. The relief after getting
- 13:33Speaker 3: that win, and the way they showed up in the moment,
- 13:36Speaker 3: you know, all of them stepping up. Kat has never
- 13:37Speaker 3: played defense like that in his life. It is life.
- 13:40Speaker 3: He has never played defense like that. It was unbelievable,
- 13:42Speaker 3: It was it was inspi, it was biblical.
- 13:44Speaker 1: Yes, it was biblical put it on the Paul Taylor
- 13:48Speaker 1: was lass at night skate.
- 13:51Speaker 3: Yes there was.
- 13:55Speaker 2: You are the greatest. We'll get Yeah.
- 13:56Speaker 1: Here Taylor already has Jalen Brunton on his Mount Rushmore
- 13:59Speaker 1: of Nick, I'm assuming you a great I also put
- 14:01Speaker 1: Josh Hard on there last night, just so you know.
- 14:03Speaker 3: Okay, oh my god, listen. That nineties team is my
- 14:07Speaker 3: favorite sports team of all time. And I never thought
- 14:11Speaker 3: I would be having this internal dialogue like Charles, you know,
- 14:14Speaker 3: I love you, but it might be time, you know,
- 14:17Speaker 3: it might be time to make room for other people,
- 14:19Speaker 3: like I've never Youing is my favorite athlete of all time.
- 14:21Speaker 3: I mean I would have done I would have done
- 14:23Speaker 3: unspeakable things to Patrick Ewing as a teenager. And now
- 14:26Speaker 3: I'm starting to think, like, oh, Pat, you know I
- 14:28Speaker 3: love you, but like, you know, don't mean the thing
- 14:30Speaker 3: if you ain't got that ring, and you know what
- 14:33Speaker 3: about that Jose Alvareto. It's just there's a lot going on.
- 14:36Speaker 3: But yes, they would. They would be our version of
- 14:39Speaker 3: those guys from the seventies. They would be our fly.
- 14:42Speaker 3: He's our flyve and and and Kats are Willis And
- 14:45Speaker 3: it was just it's just amazing that we're here. Mike
- 14:48Speaker 3: Brown is our Red Holtzman. Could you believe it? You
- 14:50Speaker 3: have predicted this a year ago that Mike Brown is
- 14:53Speaker 3: our Red Holtson, But he's our guy. I would take
- 14:55Speaker 3: a bullet for Mike Brown right now. I would literally
- 14:57Speaker 3: stand in front of a train for that man right now.
- 14:59Speaker 3: For men him showing up on Friday night at the
- 15:01Speaker 3: Coach game too. I love that guy. He's such a
