- 0:09Speaker 1: San Luis Obispo's that Marcos Sinclair is coming home to
- 0:12Speaker 1: Slow Brew Rock on Thursday, November twentieth, with support from
- 0:15Speaker 1: the students. The band originally started off as a few
- 0:20Speaker 1: CalPoly students playing in a garage. However, after securing a
- 0:24Speaker 1: manager and playing twice at a BANG, the band is
- 0:26Speaker 1: gearing up to release their first album. Guitarist Luke Sutherland
- 0:30Speaker 1: gave the tour credit for the spark of a newfound
- 0:32Speaker 1: sound while traveling on the road, just beginning.
- 0:34Speaker 2: In summer, before the tour even went, when we were
- 0:37Speaker 2: all ragging this album and finally had the most time
- 0:40Speaker 2: to bunker down with all of us and write and
- 0:44Speaker 2: spend time playing music and realizing that's exactly what we
- 0:49Speaker 2: wanted to do and just like that was our favorite
- 0:52Speaker 2: thing in the world.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Then came the long car rides to tour destinations and
- 0:56Speaker 1: a sense that the songs were growing with them.
- 0:58Speaker 2: We had never played out of state, and we were
- 1:00Speaker 2: over like a twenty four hour drive from home. We
- 1:04Speaker 2: just felt that, truly there was an opportunity to really
- 1:07Speaker 2: make this a reality.
- 1:11Speaker 1: They call their New Chapter free Margo, a phrase that
- 1:14Speaker 1: represents their mindset as young artists balancing music, work, and
- 1:17Speaker 1: life after college. According to bassis Owen, Rice.
- 1:20Speaker 3: We're all in very different places right now as just individuals,
- 1:24Speaker 3: but musically we're all coming together over these songs, and
- 1:28Speaker 3: that's what we want to be doing.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Rice described the feeling of performing live as musical freedom,
- 1:37Speaker 1: that momentum carriage straight into the studio, recorded live and
- 1:40Speaker 1: in the raws form.
- 1:41Speaker 3: Possible given us. Certain songs might have a different feeling
- 1:44Speaker 3: to them, they're all going to sound the same because
- 1:46Speaker 3: we recorded every song on this album live in a
- 1:49Speaker 3: room together.
- 1:53Speaker 1: If you ask them what they sound like now, lead
- 1:55Speaker 1: singer Kyle Mix and Rice will tell you it's bigger
- 1:57Speaker 1: than a single label and more about creative liberty.
- 2:00Speaker 2: I could see someone calling it angry rock. I could
- 2:02Speaker 2: see someone calling it rock, someone calling alternative rock, maybe
- 2:05Speaker 2: even surf rock.
- 2:06Speaker 3: If it's truly like unlike something you've ever heard, then
- 2:10Speaker 3: why even try to box it in and just let
- 2:12Speaker 3: it be something you haven't heard before and be excited
- 2:15Speaker 3: about it.
