- 0:19Hello, and welcome to episode 341 of the All Systems Go sports
- 0:25Betting podcast powered by Rhythm.
- 0:28I'm your host, Josh Applebaum. What's going on everyone?
- 0:36Happy Thirsty Thursday. Our work week is getting close
- 0:39to coming to an end here, guys. We got today, we got tomorrow.
- 0:43We got a lot to talk about on today's podcast.
- 0:45Of course, I have a 2 pack, usually got 3 packs, a 2 pack of
- 0:49Major League Baseball plays. It's a very small slate.
- 0:52I do have an afternoon sweat going on.
- 0:54If you tend to follow the ASG pod, best bet picks from the
- 0:58Juicer Lab. But then also got 2 plays for
- 1:00tonight. I got a favorite that's a very
- 1:02short favorite with a really good line move and also a rest
- 1:05versus tired advantage as well as a sharp mush edge from our
- 1:08friends at Juice Real. And then I also have a total
- 1:11play in Major League Baseball. I'm going to look toward a game
- 1:13that hopefully will feature a low amount of runs because I
- 1:16like the under in this one with one team in particular that's
- 1:19done very well either to the over the under.
- 1:22You probably know it's the under here.
- 1:24I'm going to give you my play there.
- 1:25So we got a 2 pack in Major League Baseball and then I got a
- 1:28big announcement guys, because you might have seen on Twitter,
- 1:32if you follow me at Josh under score Insights right before this
- 1:35pod got going, made an announcement and this is
- 1:38something that has been in the works for quite a while.
- 1:40I was kind of hinting at it. If you've been listening to the
- 1:43last few pods, you know, this week and last week.
- 1:46But the big announcement here is that I am continuing my
- 1:49fantastic partnership with Rhythm.
- 1:51If you don't know, Rhythm does a great job of powering this
- 1:54podcast. You got to download the Rhythm
- 1:56app. It is fantastic because Rhythm
- 1:59basically provides AI backed and you've heard me talk about it
- 2:01before, but it provides AI backed models and predictions
- 2:04for game bets and player props. And what it allows you to do is
- 2:07act like your own professional better.
- 2:10So what's one thing among many that kind of differentiates
- 2:14professional betters from recreational betters?
- 2:16Well, one of the big features is that obviously you hear hear all
- 2:19the time, but pros bet numbers and not teams.
- 2:22But one big factor is that professional sports betters set
- 2:25their own lines, so they create their own power ratings.
- 2:28They, you know, obviously adjust them throughout the year.
- 2:31A lot of factors that go into it, but you can put any two
- 2:34teams into the power ratings and it'll spit out what the rough
- 2:37line should be. Obviously, you're going to make
- 2:39adjustments for injuries, for the weather, for home field
- 2:42advantage. A lot of different factors
- 2:43there, but this is what differentiates, again, pros from
- 2:47Joe's. Joes are betting based on gut
- 2:49instinct and bias. Professional bettors are betting
- 2:51their edges. So if their numbers say, hey,
- 2:54the Patriots should be -3.4 and the betting market they are -1
- 2:591/2, they're going to play the Patriots because their numbers
- 3:02say that. That provides an edge or an
- 3:04actual advantage over the sports books.
- 3:06Now, one reason Billy Walters, who in my new book, The NFL
- 3:10Sharp Betting Playbook, I have a section on wise guys and sharps.
- 3:13And one of the big reasons why Billy Walters was so damn good
- 3:16is that he created this group called the computer group.
- 3:20This was back in the 80s, you know, before, before computers
- 3:23really took off, obviously, but he was able to set pretty much a
- 3:26more accurate number than even the odds makers.
- 3:29So odds makers, they're using their power ratings to set
- 3:32numbers, but then of course you're having pros who are able
- 3:35to set theirs as well. And they're going to look for
- 3:36discrepancies where, again, they have an edge over whatever
- 3:39number the book is offering. So with that being said, Rhythm
- 3:42allows you to basically be your own wise guy or wise gal,
- 3:46whatever the case may be. So Rhythm is going to spit out
- 3:49to you what their internal AI models and, and predictions have
- 3:53for a game. So maybe they have a game where
- 3:56the the favorite should be -2.9 and they are -3 1/2 in the
- 4:01betting market. OK, that's a key piece of
- 4:03information that leans me to #1 say I don't really want to lay
- 4:07the points because that's not a great edge.
- 4:09Maybe I'll think about the dog plus 3 1/2.
- 4:11Now when it comes to rhythm, I kind of use a combination of my
- 4:15betting philosophy, which we talked about on the pot every
- 4:18day, the data-driven philosophy. So I'm breaking down games like
- 4:21we always do, looking at line movement, bet split system
- 4:24matches. But then I like to really use
- 4:26rhythm as a cherry on top. So if there's a football game
- 4:29where, you know, this team is getting 30% of bets, they're
- 4:32contrarian, but they're getting 50% of money and they're
- 4:35falling, you know, plus 7 1/2 down to seven.
- 4:38And Rhythm says the game should be 6.2 boom.
- 4:41That just makes me more confident to place my bet.
- 4:44So I've been working with Rhythm.
- 4:45This is now going on my, my second year here, which I'm very
- 4:47excited about. But the big announcement is that
- 4:50we have a new show. It's called the Rhythm Rundown.
- 4:53It's myself and my buddy Kate Harper, who also hosted some,
- 4:57some shows with Rhythm. But the big announcement is that
- 5:00every Thursday night at 6:00 Eastern Time, we're going to
- 5:03host the Rhythm Rundown. So it'll be on stream live on
- 5:06Twitter, TikTok, you know, Instagram, all all those
- 5:09different platforms nowadays that you use.
- 5:11And if you guys want to learn more about rhythm, if you want
- 5:14to tune in and just, you know, talk games with us, you can
- 5:17throw out some questions. We're going to run through and
- 5:20rundown, I guess the rhythm rundown, all the major games.
- 5:23And it's really exciting to me that it's going to be every
- 5:25Thursday night at six because once we get, you know, Thursday
- 5:28Night Football back, that's usually an 815 kickoff.
- 5:31So we'll be hosting the show from six to seven every
- 5:34Thursday, talking about, of course, hey, Thursday night,
- 5:37what's the play? You know, player props will get
- 5:39into all that. And then we'll also kind of
- 5:41tease the upcoming weekend. So the first one is tonight.
- 5:44I know it's a little bit of short notice, but there's a lot
- 5:46that went into this. So he finally went live with,
- 5:50you know, the tweet and the announcement.
- 5:51And I would love for you guys all to tune in 6:00 Eastern
- 5:55Time. You can just go right on Twitter
- 5:56at Josh under score Insights will go live.
- 5:59But in the meantime you can follow rhythm at RITHMM under
- 6:03score AI and if you are new to rhythm or you want to test it
- 6:07out or maybe you had it before and you cancelled because you
- 6:10know you only bet football, well I have a promo code for you.
- 6:13I always like saving my peeps some money.
- 6:15So if you use the promo code start 25 STAR T25, you'll get
- 6:2125% off. Usually the service is about I
- 6:24think it's about 30 bucks a month.
- 6:25So you'll get some money off that.
- 6:27And rhythm, again, it is just a great additional supplementary
- 6:31tool that we can add to our data-driven toolkit.
- 6:34So I hope to see you all tonight. 6 O clock Eastern Time
- 6:37and you can count on this show every Thursday night. 6 O clock
- 6:41Eastern Time, myself and Kade and we break it on the games
- 6:44teaching how to use rhythm, answering all of your questions.
- 6:47So if you remember last year, I did the the rhythm Sunday
- 6:51sweats, my buddy James Santor, and we had some Tuesday shows.
- 6:54This is going to be the big show this year every Thursday night.
- 6:57So I hope to see you guys there and again, save some money.
- 7:00Promo codes start 25 for 25% off.
- 7:05So with that being said, that means I'm going to see you guys
- 7:07in just about an hour and a half from now as I'm recording this
- 7:09pod a little bit late today. But anyway, looking back toward
- 7:12yesterday, we kept the good vibes going.
- 7:13Another winning day 2 and 1 + 0.2 units.
- 7:17You know, didn't didn't bring the house down, but I'll take a
- 7:20positive night any night of the week.
- 7:22We had a great win with the pods.
- 7:23The dads came up bigly, 8 to one win.
- 7:27Gavin Sheets had a couple of homers, Machado went yard,
- 7:30Braves 1, nothing win. Our guy Hurston Waldrip, we
- 7:33talked about him yesterday, pitched an absolute gem.
- 7:36And the only loser was the Royals.
- 7:38And that was annoying because I got -115 they closed like -130
- 7:42-. 140. And they're actually winning
- 7:44three to one. They blew it late and they
- 7:46brought in this reliever, this lefty Sam Long, who just got his
- 7:50face ripped off and blew it for us.
- 7:51So sometimes that'll happen. Sometimes the pen comes in and
- 7:54shuts down the other team and, you know, helps you get a win.
- 7:58Sometimes they implode. But got the pods, got the
- 8:00Braves, couldn't get the Royals. But either way, we got 2/10 of a
- 8:04unit 2 and 1 + 0.2 units for the second straight winning day.
- 8:09So we'll take that and we'll reinvest it into today's action.
- 8:12So that being said, obviously the announcement with rhythm is
- 8:15the the big topic of conversation and I got to get
- 8:18prepared for my first show tonight at 6:00 PM Eastern Time.
- 8:21But I did have a couple bets that I wanted to talk about for
- 8:25tonight. So 2 pack, obviously I didn't
- 8:27want to force it. There was a WNBA game that kind
- 8:30of caught my eye. I know there's some NFL
- 8:32preseason games tonight, but it's Week 3.
- 8:34We don't really know who's playing.
- 8:35So I'm going to, I'm going to bypass that and see if we can at
- 8:39least go one and one try to go to 2 and O, which would be
- 8:42awesome for tonight's action. So first one on the board for
- 8:45me. Let's go to a matchup at Camden
- 8:48Yards tonight. 7:15 PM Eastern Time, we have the Houston Astros
- 8:53visiting the Baltimore Orioles. Now coming into this game, we
- 8:57have the Stroh's 69 and 58 on the year, but they're kind of
- 9:01struggling a bit. Just got swept by the Tigers.
- 9:04They lost yesterday's series finale 7 to 2 as a -115 Rd.
- 9:08favorite. Meanwhile, the O's 59 and 67
- 9:11losing record on the year. They're playing pretty well.
- 9:14I think they won like 5 of their last six, something like that.
- 9:17Just swept A2 game series against the Red Sox.
- 9:19Don't remind me because I got Red Sox win total and I still
- 9:22can't get over that idiot third base coach not sending whatever
- 9:27Eaton in for the SAC fly the other night.
- 9:30But anyway, OS won that series finale 4 to 3 and extra innings
- 9:33as a + 125 Rd. dog. So pitching match up for
- 9:37tonight. Astros are going to go with the
- 9:41righty Jason Alexander, our guy George Costanza 7 three and one
- 9:45on the year 4.74 ERA. Meanwhile, the OS are going to
- 9:49go with the fellow righty Brandon Young, One and six, 5.68
- 9:53ERA. So what have you seen across the
- 9:55market for this one? Well, this game caught my eye
- 9:57because it basically opened at a pick em.
- 9:59It was around -110 both sides. And the public says, yeah,
- 10:04Orioles, you're cute. You won a few games recently,
- 10:06but you stink. And the Astros are much better,
- 10:09much better. One loss record.
- 10:10However, even though you're getting nearly 60% of money line
- 10:14bets taking Houston, this line hasn't moved up to Houston.
- 10:18You know -115 -, 120. It's gone the other way.
- 10:21It's moved toward Baltimore. You've seen the OS, even though
- 10:23they're getting only about 40% of money line bets at
- 10:26DraftKings, they've ticked up from -110 now up to -120.
- 10:33So this line is moving toward Baltimore, even though the
- 10:36public is on Houston. So that's a classic reverse line
- 10:39move for the betting line. Goes away from the popular side,
- 10:42Houston, toward the unpopular side.
- 10:44Baltimore tells me we got some smart RLM here on the OS now.
- 10:48Lot of system matches here on Baltimore.
- 10:50If you'll get short home favorites -140 or less off a win
- 10:55with a line move in their favor. They're 56 and 35 this season.
- 10:5862 percent, 11% ROI since July 1st.
- 11:03They've done very well last couple months.
- 11:05You'll get short home favorites -140 or less with a below 500
- 11:08record facing an opponent with an above 500 record.
- 11:12So kind of fishy. Why are you favored if you have
- 11:14the worst record? Well, typically it's paid off to
- 11:16back that fishy side that those teams which are in the spot of
- 11:20the Orioles tonight, they are on the year 55 and 4058%.
- 11:25But because of those low prices, it's actually a 5% ROI.
- 11:29Non division value would just, you know, generally match here
- 11:33with Baltimore because they're AL East against AO West.
- 11:36But if you also look at non division home favorites -150 or
- 11:39less off a win with a line move, they're 91 and 52 this year, 64
- 11:44percent, 13% ROI. Now, another angle that I like
- 11:47with Baltimore is a rest verse tired advantage.
- 11:50Because Baltimore was off yesterday, didn't play.
- 11:53You know, the Astros played in Detroit and now have to travel
- 11:56to Camden Yards. So Orioles have had a day off
- 11:59their feet. Whereas Houston, you know, it's
- 12:01right back out there. If you look at rested favorites
- 12:03coming off a day off with at least $0.05 of line movement in
- 12:07their direction, which matches with Baltimore, those teams are
- 12:1091 and 3970%. Eleven percent ROI this year.
- 12:16Now the guy in the bump for the O's, Brandon Young, again, one
- 12:19and six, 5.68 ERA, not very good, but his last start out, he
- 12:24faced Houston and he pitched a gem.
- 12:26He went 8 innings, only gave up one hit and no runs.
- 12:30It was a 7 nothing win for Baltimore.
- 12:32Also, you look at the O's just recent performance, they're
- 12:35playing pretty well. Maybe they just got nothing to
- 12:37lose, so they're playing pretty free, but they're six and four
- 12:39over the last 10, they're hitting 226.
- 12:42Doesn't sound great but they have a 3.48 team ERA.
- 12:46Meanwhile Astros four and six over the last 10 only hitting
- 12:49$1.93. So that 226 doesn't sound that
- 12:52bad compared to 193 below the Mendoza line for Houston.
- 12:57And also the Astros have a 5.92 team ERA.
- 13:01So it seems obvious Houston better team, better record.
- 13:04But it's a pick em game and the line move toward Baltimore.
- 13:06So I'm going to take a shot here on the OS.
- 13:09I got Baltimore guys at -115 at Bet MGM.
- 13:13I believe they're still -115 but most other books here around
- 13:17-120 But let's go O's last bit of the night, 7:35 PM Eastern
- 13:23Time, first pitch, Saint Louis Cardinals visiting the Tampa Bay
- 13:27Rays interleague showdown here at Steinbrenner Field down in
- 13:30Florida. If we look at the Cardinals, 63
- 13:34and 65 on the season, just took two or three against Miami.
- 13:38Couldn't get the sweep though. They lost that series finale 6
- 13:40to 2. Then you look at Tampa 61 and 66
- 13:44on the year. They just lost and got swept in
- 13:46A2 game set against the Yankees and they lost an extras
- 13:51yesterday six to four. So pitching match up here for
- 13:54tonight. We got Sonny Gray the righty
- 13:57going for Saint Louis. He's 11 and six 4.3 O ERA.
- 14:00He'll be opposed by the ready Joe Boyle for Tampa.
- 14:03He's one and two 4.68 ERA. Now in terms of the side you saw
- 14:09basically short favorite here for Saint Louis -115 -. 120
- 14:14hasn't really moved either way, but I'm going to focus on the
- 14:18total and this is what jumped out to me.
- 14:20I'm going under 8 1/2. I'm looking for a low scoring
- 14:24game here, guys. First thing that jumped out to
- 14:26me is that we've seen kind of a dog to fave flip with the total.
- 14:30So what do I, what do I mean by that?
- 14:32Well, a lot of books open 8 1/2 over -115 -, 120.
- 14:37Now the whole market is 8 1/2 under -115 -, 120.
- 14:42Some books even open at 9:00 and got down to 8 1/2.
- 14:45So you got to kind of ask yourself, hey, if if they open
- 14:47the game with a total of 8 1/2 juiced over, you know, why is
- 14:52why are they now making you pay a more expensive price to go
- 14:54under? That's a little bit of a dog to
- 14:56fave kind of RLM type play in terms of a lower scoring game.
- 15:01Now if we look at DraftKings really good split, public
- 15:04doesn't know what to do with the total, it's 5050, so 50% / 50%
- 15:08under. But in terms of dollars, the
- 15:11under is getting 77% of dollars. So we've seen a flip in terms of
- 15:16the juice juiced over now to juiced under and we got half the
- 15:20tickets, but more than three out of $4.00 going under.
- 15:23So we got a low bets higher dollar split toward the under.
- 15:27Now Sonny Gray, he's got a 4.3 O ERA on the year, but in August
- 15:31he's been pretty good 3.79 ERA. And Joe Boyle, he has been
- 15:35really hit or miss on the road 8.15 ERA, but at home 0.6 O ERA.
- 15:41So hopefully pitches better then you just look generically with
- 15:44some totals. If you've been playing every
- 15:47under this year, I wouldn't advise this because you're you
- 15:49bet like almost 2000 games, but you're 950 and 877 to the under.
- 15:54That's 52%. Now you're not overcoming the
- 15:57juice, so you're down about 7 units.
- 15:59So you, if you played literally every under 100 bucks each,
- 16:03you're down 700 bucks. However, listen to this.
- 16:05If you played every over, you're only cashing 48% of your tickets
- 16:10and because you're eating the juice, you're down 150 units
- 16:15playing every over. So $100 bet better playing every
- 16:18over is down $15,000. So it just kind of speaks to in
- 16:22general how these unders have been a smarter bet than the
- 16:24overs. Then a little cherry on top, the
- 16:27Rays in particular, they've been a good under team this year.
- 16:30They're 68 and 53 to the under 56 percent, 7% ROI.
- 16:35That's the 7th best under team in baseball.
- 16:38But at home, the Rays are 35 and 26 to the under 57.4% with a 10%
- 16:44ROI. So they've been a pretty good
- 16:46under team in general and at home.
- 16:49So there's not a lot of games tonight guys, but this total
- 16:51kind of just started screaming to me.
- 16:53So I'm going to take a shot here so we can get a lower scoring
- 16:55game. I don't care who wins.
- 16:57Let's get eight runs or less. I am on Saint Louis, Tampa Bay
- 17:01under 8 1/2 at -115. So that about does it for
- 17:05episode 341 of the All Systems Go Sports Betting podcast,
- 17:10Powered by Rhythm as we unveil the new Rhythm Rundown every
- 17:14Thursday night starting tonight, 6:00 Eastern Time.
- 17:17Again, hope to see you there. But as always, guys, this is the
- 17:19part of the pod where we wrap things up and I start first by
- 17:22saying thank you. Thank you for taking the time
- 17:25out of your day, out of your busy lives to pull up a chair to
- 17:28the virtual bar and sweat some sharp, data-driven breakdowns
- 17:31with me. If you do enjoy the pod, if you
- 17:33value the insights, if you look forward to, you know, getting
- 17:35the the breakdowns each day, please could you give this
- 17:38podcast a five star review on Spotify or iTunes.
- 17:42If you want to leave a nice comment under the review section
- 17:45or click the follow button or recommend the pod to a friend,
- 17:47that would also be fantastic. Next, if you enjoy this style of
- 17:51betting breakdown, data-driven sharp contrarian betting,
- 17:55focusing on not what our biases and our emotions and what our
- 17:58head is, our heart is telling us, I should say, but instead
- 18:01what the numbers, the data, the betting market, the splits, the
- 18:05line movement, the system matches what the numbers are
- 18:07telling us. So maybe you've kind of seen
- 18:10some of the benefits here of taking a data-driven sharp
- 18:13contrarian approach. You want to learn more about
- 18:15data-driven betting or maybe you have someone in your life who
- 18:18could use some data-driven tips. I'd love for you to go to
- 18:21Amazon.com and type in the NFL Sharp Betting Playbook and then
- 18:25also type in the everything Guide to Sports betting.
- 18:28Those are my two books. We're still number one on Amazon
- 18:32for new releases for the NFL Sharp Betting Playbook.
- 18:34So I'm very honored by that. And if you would, if you're
- 18:37interested in tweeting me a photo of the book, if you bought
- 18:40it, I'd love to retweet it. And if you want to give it a
- 18:43five star view on Amazon, that would mean a lot because those
- 18:45five star reviews, I got to tell you guys, they help you, help
- 18:48you stay up the charts. So I very much appreciate that.
- 18:51But obviously the everything guide great for brand new
- 18:53betters, really just kind of unveiling the data-driven
- 18:56approach and then the NFL sharp betting playbook all about how
- 19:00to bet the NFL from a data-driven perspective.
- 19:02So grab one or both, bring them the sports book.
- 19:05I'll sign them for you and I'll buy you a beer or ginger ale and
- 19:08we'll sweat some baseball tonight.
- 19:10Next. Have you downloaded Rhythm and
- 19:12Juice Real yet? We got to download Rhythm.
- 19:14I was telling you about Rhythm to start the pod here.

- 23:05that fit our model against the public with the house, with the
- 23:08pros, flat bet, avoid parlays and get that CLV.
