- 0:58Speaker 1: some Phillies talk, yes'ring training right around the quarter. In fact,
- 1:02Speaker 1: pitchers and catchers have reported. We're gonna talk about this team.
- 1:06Speaker 1: We're gonna talk about this pitching staff as we are
- 1:09Speaker 1: getting ready for this twenty twenty five season. We're also
- 1:12Speaker 1: gonna get into some Sixers talks, specifically the Lisa Salters
- 1:15Speaker 1: report about Joe l Embiid believing we'll need to have
- 1:18Speaker 1: another surgery and a long recovery period. Fantastic, folks, Great
- 1:23Speaker 1: Sixers talk coming your way. We're also gonna get into
- 1:27Speaker 1: some NFL storylines heading into this offseason. We're gonna talk
- 1:31Speaker 1: about the Super Bowl as well, and then what we're
- 1:33Speaker 1: throwing down on the table this week. We got our
- 1:35Speaker 1: good friend Mark Scofield from SB Nation. He's gonna jump on.
- 1:38Speaker 1: We're gonna take a look at the Eagles championship season
- 1:41Speaker 1: and where this team really is gonna go from here
- 1:44Speaker 1: after being the crown the champs this past week. I'm
- 1:49Speaker 1: Jeff Warren and I'm here by buddy Eric Leonard.
- 1:52Speaker 2: How you doing, man, I'm good. I do go back
- 1:54Speaker 2: and listen to our postgame podcast after the Super Bowl.
- 1:59Speaker 2: That should be the way we do post games for
- 2:02Speaker 2: any any of the games with Eagles, especially like I
- 2:05Speaker 2: should beat your place sounds much better. And just the
- 2:08Speaker 2: enthusiasm of it, like in person in that moment, because
- 2:12Speaker 2: I there's just no comparison. I know it's a super
- 2:14Speaker 2: Bowl and God will re hyped up.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Yes, Like I listened to it and I was like,
- 2:20Speaker 1: my god, I was all over the place.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Yeah, so was I. But the enthusiasm in our voices
- 2:25Speaker 2: and I must have said we kicked the rasses like fifty.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Times because I didn't, Well did.
- 2:30Speaker 2: They really did, But my head was in the clouds
- 2:32Speaker 2: and I couldn't come out with the words in the moment.
- 2:34Speaker 2: But like what a So we we spent the super
- 2:37Speaker 2: Bowl at your house? I think that, you know, if
- 2:39Speaker 2: you heard the post game and man watching it alone,
- 2:44Speaker 2: let not alone, it's your house, just with your family,
- 2:46Speaker 2: but with instead of like doing it with friends that
- 2:49Speaker 2: love the team, especially us for you be doing the
- 2:51Speaker 2: show forever. What an experience actually, because we did it
- 2:55Speaker 2: together in twenty eighteen when they won Stay College, all together,
- 2:58Speaker 2: and to do it again here, I think we that
- 3:01Speaker 2: should be on the table every time going forward because
- 3:04Speaker 2: that really is kind of a special deal.
- 3:05Speaker 1: So you think they're going to be in the super
- 3:07Speaker 1: Bowl again? Forgotten that every time?
- 3:10Speaker 2: Hey listen. One of the topics I brought up was
- 3:12Speaker 2: on the on the post game was how dare you
- 3:14Speaker 2: sixteen year olds think this is going to happen all
- 3:16Speaker 2: the time?
- 3:17Speaker 1: Right?
- 3:17Speaker 2: But you know, but the team, I'm sure you guys
- 3:20Speaker 2: will get into it, but like the team is set
- 3:21Speaker 2: up to possibly I'm not talking to three people. Shit,
- 3:24Speaker 2: I'm just saying, like, yeah, the next couple of years,
- 3:26Speaker 2: we actually have to keep our calendars open as long
- 3:28Speaker 2: as we're still alive.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Absolutely, yes we do. I have to say, it was
- 3:32Speaker 1: a great time. You mentioned the post game show, and
- 3:34Speaker 1: I just want to say this. This is a Jeff
- 3:36Speaker 1: nerd audio guy coming out here to you man, your audio,
- 3:41Speaker 1: it was really like the base the low end of
- 3:44Speaker 1: your audio was way too much on my mixer and
- 3:46Speaker 1: I was listening to it of my car and I
- 3:48Speaker 1: was like, oh my god, that low end is really
- 3:50Speaker 1: coming through. And I just like, I'm so used to
- 3:53Speaker 1: us connecting the way that we do online and how
- 3:56Speaker 1: you how your track is on my mixer. I shouldn't
- 4:00Speaker 1: have done that for you being here anyway. I just
- 4:02Speaker 1: wanted to mention that to folks out there.
- 4:04Speaker 2: I did take radio training college, so yeah, the little
- 4:08Speaker 2: end is very well well.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Bon dray Bon drayrd Herd.
- 4:17Speaker 2: We're doing some really old school like mainstream shock jock stuff.
- 4:21Speaker 2: If you know, you probably have no idea. It's a
- 4:23Speaker 2: very small niche.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Chetting Bon Drae, bon dre Well, we got a great show.
- 4:30Speaker 1: I do want to mention, because it's been a couple
- 4:33Speaker 1: of weeks, we got an email from one of our
- 4:35Speaker 1: longtime listeners of the show, Patrick he Uh said in
- 4:39Speaker 1: response to one of Eric's uh opening intro segments with
- 4:44Speaker 1: regard to coaching and coaching kids sports, he said, Hey, there, gents,
- 4:49Speaker 1: specifically Eric, I've coached my kids soccer, flag, football, and
- 4:53Speaker 1: baseball teams. I'm coaching fifth grade basketball for the first time.
- 4:58Speaker 1: We won our first game four to two. Should I
- 5:01Speaker 1: resign in shame? He said, just kidding and go Eagles.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Thanks for the email, Patrick, but I just wanted to mention, like,
- 5:09Speaker 1: once again, I'm not sure if I was I complaining
- 5:12Speaker 1: that I was at my daughter's like cheer basketball game.
- 5:14Speaker 1: My daughter's a cheerleader, went to just about every basketball
- 5:17Speaker 1: game and my gosh, the one of the last girls back,
- 5:21Speaker 1: the second to last girls basketball game, it was thirty
- 5:23Speaker 1: four to nothing, and I was like, oh my god,
- 5:26Speaker 1: that was that was brutal sitting through that.
- 5:29Speaker 2: You must have maybe he did mention the show, or
- 5:31Speaker 2: it may it's just a response to my coaching stories.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, but my one yeah, oh.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Dad, definitely Patrick. Yeah, my recent one of one of
- 5:38Speaker 2: my boys who eats French fries out of his pocket
- 5:40Speaker 2: during practice. I think that might have been what yeah, Tally,
- 5:45Speaker 2: I mean, Patrick, is this one of those leagues where
- 5:46Speaker 2: like the kids don't have hands or something. The four
- 5:50Speaker 2: I'm totally kidding.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Let's split my iced tea out.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Geez it's I mean, it's almost impossible to lose thirty
- 5:56Speaker 2: four zero or even win four to two. Yeah, I
- 5:59Speaker 2: think Patrick as a new basketball coach, I can I
- 6:02Speaker 2: can give you some advice. You should tell your team
- 6:05Speaker 2: that that's a tough that's a tough win. The better team,
- 6:08Speaker 2: like really good teams win those types of tough, tight games.
- 6:12Speaker 2: That's that should be the messaging. And then I'll be
- 6:15Speaker 2: working your shooting. Your team shooting. Your defense is in place.
- 6:19Speaker 2: Man two points that is stellar. Might want to work
- 6:22Speaker 2: on some layup shots. Maybe a player too, pros. Patrick,
- 6:26Speaker 2: Welcome to the Welcome to the club. Please share any
- 6:29Speaker 2: stories you have via email. I will continue to share mine.
- 6:32Speaker 2: We still have a couple of weeks left and then
- 6:33Speaker 2: we go into AU. I got months and months of
- 6:36Speaker 2: stories coming. Seeah Patrick, please keep keep keep them coming.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Keep them coming for sure. All right, well let's get
- 6:41Speaker 1: into some Philly sports talk. Baseball season here is right
- 6:45Speaker 1: around the corner. Pitchers and catchers have reported around the country,
- 6:49Speaker 1: the Philadelphia Phillies down in clear Water, and we were
- 6:53Speaker 1: getting some reports. We're getting some reports out of this
- 6:56Speaker 1: early spring trainings. I can't even call it spring training.
- 6:59Speaker 1: I mean, it's freaking freezing out. I can't call it
- 7:01Speaker 1: spring anything. What do we call it winter escapades? I
- 7:06Speaker 1: have no idea what to call it, but I can't
- 7:08Speaker 1: call it spring training at this point. So anyway, how
- 7:12Speaker 1: are we feeling about the Phillies new pitchers that they
- 7:15Speaker 1: have brought onto the staff for this twenty twenty five
- 7:17Speaker 1: season and the pitching staff overall. I mean, Eric, I've
- 7:22Speaker 1: been reading some reports out of and specifically on NBC
- 7:26Speaker 1: Sports Philadelphia, like about Andrew Paynter. Listen, we know that
- 7:30Speaker 1: Zach Wheeler, Aaron Nola, Ranger Suarez, Christopher Sanchez, and jezus
- 7:34Speaker 1: Lozardo the newest acquisition to the starting rotation. They're gonna
- 7:39Speaker 1: be something to be reckoned with this season, one of
- 7:42Speaker 1: the best starting rotations in Major League Baseball. But I
- 7:46Speaker 1: really found a report about Andrew Paynter very interesting, and
- 7:51Speaker 1: I'm excited. I'm excited to actually see him pitch perhaps
- 7:54Speaker 1: this coming season. Apparently his rehab has been going really,
- 7:58Speaker 1: really well enough that the athletic trainer of the Phillies
- 8:02Speaker 1: told Dave Dombrowski as the Arizona Fall League approached that
- 8:06Speaker 1: he thought the right hander was healthy enough to move
- 8:09Speaker 1: to the next phase. So Painter then goes to the
- 8:12Speaker 1: AFL he absolutely dominated. He earned the league's Pitcher of
- 8:16Speaker 1: the Year award by allowing just four runs and fifteen
- 8:18Speaker 1: and two thirds innings with eighteen strikeouts four walks. The
- 8:23Speaker 1: kid's not going to be there on opening Day, for
- 8:25Speaker 1: my understanding, but he's going to be thrown on the
- 8:27Speaker 1: side for every three days. I guess the next step
- 8:29Speaker 1: would then be for him to face hitters and then
- 8:32Speaker 1: pitching an extended spring training games As a regular season approaches.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Reports coming out that he could actually be up eric
- 8:39Speaker 1: by June or July. And if he is the ace
- 8:44Speaker 1: that the Phillies think he is, this is going to
- 8:46Speaker 1: be one hell of a pitching staff for the National
- 8:50Speaker 1: League to deal with.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Here, Oh for sure, I'll speak to this starting five
- 8:56Speaker 2: right now on paper. You know, if they all stay
- 8:58Speaker 2: stay healthy, right Lozardo, Nola, Sanchez, Souarez, Wheeler. You got
- 9:03Speaker 2: three lefties, three solid lefties, ye too, you know, two
- 9:07Speaker 2: more than solid, I would say, Lazardo just being like
- 9:10Speaker 2: the quintessential by Low can it? You know, kind of
- 9:13Speaker 2: a Bilow free agent kind of pitcher, had great stats
- 9:18Speaker 2: two years ago, not great last year, but has a
- 9:21Speaker 2: six slider and they have him as your number five
- 9:24Speaker 2: as opposed to Walker, such a huge upgrade. And speaking
- 9:29Speaker 2: of Painter again, this is I read Todds of Lakey's
- 9:34Speaker 2: piece on MLB dot com, and you know, he's basically
- 9:36Speaker 2: this could be the best rotation baseball. It's his bottom
- 9:39Speaker 2: line if everyone stays healthy. But that applies to everybody,
- 9:42Speaker 2: but this one in particular. To have three strong lefties
- 9:46Speaker 2: that you can throw, you can kind of mix and
- 9:47Speaker 2: match depending on the line up you're facing, but to
- 9:53Speaker 2: also have those two right handed studs up top. There
- 9:56Speaker 2: is kind of a handri history with these guys a
- 9:59Speaker 2: little bit. To have Painter come back in June, possibly
- 10:02Speaker 2: in case of an injury, and to bring that kind
- 10:05Speaker 2: of firepower up from the minor leagues like potential ace.
- 10:10Speaker 2: They're in a great spot, Like there's just no other
- 10:12Speaker 2: way around it. I'm looking at their their depth at
- 10:15Speaker 2: relief pitcher yep, just strong as hell man, I mean Alvarado, Banks, Kirkering, Romano, uh,
- 10:21Speaker 2: Matt Strong. You know in Taywan Walker, if you need
- 10:24Speaker 2: like a long relief kind of thing, he's not. He's
- 10:26Speaker 2: good in spots like for free innings.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Maybe I'm not worried that Jeff Hoffman and Carlos Stevez
- 10:31Speaker 1: left town for free and free agency. I'm not concerned
- 10:34Speaker 1: about that. I'm really not.
- 10:36Speaker 2: No, I'm not either. And also the guy you have
- 10:39Speaker 2: Max Bizarre and Tyler Phillips, possibly that could that could
- 10:42Speaker 2: you know, make make the the roster. Yeah, you know,
- 10:47Speaker 2: unfortunately you're paying Walker threety six mil. But maybe he's
- 10:49Speaker 2: in a better spot now, maybe you could you know,
- 10:50Speaker 2: actually help the team as opposed to hurting the team
- 10:54Speaker 2: last year, which is what he did all year long.
- 10:56Speaker 2: That's not to mention there the actually the bats that
- 10:59Speaker 2: are going to be kind of the same but still
- 11:02Speaker 2: strong agent agent another year. But I imagine they're gonna
- 11:05Speaker 2: have a pretty good season. I'm hoping Scott has a
- 11:08Speaker 2: better season last year. But speaking of it, just the
- 11:11Speaker 2: just the starting pitching, it's it's it's there to make
- 11:15Speaker 2: a long run because that's how this team is built,
- 11:17Speaker 2: and that the starting lineup or the starting rotation is
- 11:21Speaker 2: perfectly set up to do that for this year.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Yeah, it absolutely is. I can't wait. You mentioned the
- 11:26Speaker 1: bullpen and really quick uh the off season additions with
- 11:32Speaker 1: right handers Jeff Ross but specifically Jordan Romano. I cannot
- 11:36Speaker 1: wait to see how he is going to fill that
- 11:39Speaker 1: void again with Jeff Hoffman not being here. Carlos Estevez,
- 11:43Speaker 1: how he's going to fill that void and just contribute
- 11:47Speaker 1: some of these solid innings out of the bullpen for
- 11:50Speaker 1: this Phillies team. I cannot wait to see Jordan Romano
- 11:54Speaker 1: and what he's going to do in terms of his
- 11:56Speaker 1: closing abilities. It's going to be fun.
- 11:59Speaker 2: Yeah, And I'm going to start counting now how many
- 12:02Speaker 2: times you're gonna called Joe Ross Jeff Ross. This is
- 12:04Speaker 2: number one. I'm going to count this one. I'm going
- 12:06Speaker 2: to keep it one. What I call him Jeff Ross,
- 12:09Speaker 2: like the comedian.
- 12:10Speaker 1: Yes.
- 12:11Speaker 2: Yeah, So I have a note pad here next to
- 12:15Speaker 2: the podcast equipment, and I wrote it down Jeff Ross one.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Put the date. So we'll see. It should be fun
- 12:25Speaker 2: this year.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Fun times being me? Do you have anything else? You know,
- 12:31Speaker 1: just just a quick segment here on Phillies pitching. You
- 12:33Speaker 1: have anything else before we move on to some Sixers talk,
- 12:36Speaker 1: some fun sixers talk.
- 12:38Speaker 2: Maybe she just keeps on with the Phillies then maybe
- 12:40Speaker 2: we should. It's really nice how many years we went
- 12:46Speaker 2: into a season and we're like, all right, we got
- 12:48Speaker 2: one good guy and uh boy, Number five, we're in
- 12:52Speaker 2: a world of ship exactly.
- 12:54Speaker 3: Now.
- 12:54Speaker 2: We're talking like this could be the best rotation in baseball.
- 12:57Speaker 1: We'll see, right, which again, there's something to be said
- 13:00Speaker 1: for you know, how they didn't go out that you know,
- 13:02Speaker 1: they didn't get the big names, they didn't get the
- 13:03Speaker 1: big bats. I should say they didn't get the big
- 13:05Speaker 1: bats and free agency. Leave that to the Dodgers and Mets. However,
- 13:10Speaker 1: bringing in the pitchers that they did bring in relief
- 13:13Speaker 1: pitchers that back end of the rotation starter. I mean,
- 13:18Speaker 1: they're banking on the pitching getting it done this year.
- 13:21Speaker 1: You know, we saw the bats falter every now and
- 13:24Speaker 1: again during certain key spots of last season. In twenty
- 13:28Speaker 1: twenty four, I think that the pit they're not that
- 13:31Speaker 1: it's an experimentation necessarily, but I think they're just kind
- 13:34Speaker 1: of just hedging their bets, saying we think this pitching staff,
- 13:37Speaker 1: if healthy, are going to be able to get this
- 13:39Speaker 1: team through the postseason and you know, get get them
- 13:44Speaker 1: to the NLCS.
- 13:46Speaker 2: No, I agree, like they worked around the edges this time. Yeah,
- 13:49Speaker 2: free I'm okay with that because it leads them with
- 13:51Speaker 2: flexibility during the season. They look at the Mets last
- 13:54Speaker 2: year the team that took us down the playoffs. They
- 13:56Speaker 2: got hot at the right time. Very talented team, but
- 13:58Speaker 2: they're not as talented as the Phillies roster wise. My opinion,
- 14:02Speaker 2: Maybe now they are because you know some of the
- 14:04Speaker 2: big time for the free agencignies they did. But I
- 14:08Speaker 2: think the way they handled the soft season was smart,
- 14:10Speaker 2: giving them self flexibility around the trade deadline.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Yeah all right, folks, Well let's now dive into some
- 14:17Speaker 1: Sixers talk. This This isn't gonna be the most fun
- 14:20Speaker 1: conversation because, first and foremost, before we hit the record button,
- 14:24Speaker 1: I had a notification came up. Paul George scored two
- 14:28Speaker 1: points two points tonight in the Sixers loss to the Nets. Folks,
- 14:32Speaker 1: that's not a misprint anywhere. He scored two points. Paul
- 14:37Speaker 1: George did their free agent acquisition this past year. But
- 14:41Speaker 1: but that's not even what we had on the agenda.
- 14:45Speaker 2: No, we had hold on real quick. Yeah, Patrick, Patrick's
- 14:48Speaker 2: team would it beat Paul George tonight?
- 14:50Speaker 1: Oh my god, Yes, Oh my god, Patrick, your team
- 14:53Speaker 1: could have gone against Paul George.
- 14:54Speaker 2: Jesus, they would have beat him. I guarantee five of
- 14:57Speaker 2: his kids. Would it be Paul.
- 14:58Speaker 1: George yes, Jesus God well, Lisassaulters this past week on Sunday, actually,
- 15:04Speaker 1: and I showed Air Eric, I showed you the notification
- 15:07Speaker 1: that came up on my phone about this Lisa Assaulters
- 15:10Speaker 1: report about Joel Embiid believing he'll need another surgery and
- 15:14Speaker 1: a long recovery period. If accurate, it really does seem
- 15:19Speaker 1: like a total failure by the Sixers in terms of
- 15:22Speaker 1: how they have handled Joel Embiid, how this entire season
- 15:26Speaker 1: has been handled, even though Embiid is still on the court,
- 15:29Speaker 1: he's still out there playing as well. We'll get into
- 15:33Speaker 1: our thoughts here on this freaking debacle. It is incredible
- 15:40Speaker 1: what is happening here. And it's not just the two
- 15:43Speaker 1: points that were scored by Paul George, but it's how
- 15:46Speaker 1: the Sixers continue to lose, How the injuries have certainly
- 15:51Speaker 1: plagued this team for sure, but how they're continuing to
- 15:55Speaker 1: lose time and time again, especially to lesser teams. I mean,
- 15:59Speaker 1: for guy, the worst half of an NBA game against
- 16:05Speaker 1: the Pistons this past week, I mean about a week
- 16:08Speaker 1: ago or so. It was one of the worst halves
- 16:11Speaker 1: of NBA basketball this season that the Sixers played they
- 16:16Speaker 1: lost the Pistons. For God's sakes, this team is reeling.
- 16:20Speaker 1: I think they're done. I think everybody at this point
- 16:24Speaker 1: just about thinks that this team is done. I mean,
- 16:27Speaker 1: you put em beat on the shelf and just kind
- 16:29Speaker 1: of just ride it out. It's it is so incredibly disappointing.
- 16:34Speaker 1: I was thinking about it before we had to record
- 16:36Speaker 1: button Eric. I don't remember a team this disappointing in
- 16:41Speaker 1: the world of Philly sports. With the expectations going into
- 16:44Speaker 1: the season based on a free agent acquisition, saying to yourself, Wow,
- 16:48Speaker 1: We've got three tremendous star talents and it has been
- 16:54Speaker 1: dog shit, complete dog shit.
- 16:57Speaker 2: I don't much to add, h Okay, I'll start with
- 17:04Speaker 2: I'll start with the Sixers organization and how they've handled
- 17:06Speaker 2: this entire mbeat situation. I mean, you want to talk
- 17:10Speaker 2: talk about dishonesty with your fan base and with the
- 17:13Speaker 2: press and everything like this is it's been a disaster
- 17:17Speaker 2: from the start. Besides the suspension and the absolute coyus
- 17:25Speaker 2: revolving around his injury status or his knees or whatever
- 17:28Speaker 2: was going on with him right just throughout the season.
- 17:31Speaker 2: You know, he didn't he didn't start out the season,
- 17:32Speaker 2: and when he did, he went back out, play a
- 17:35Speaker 2: little bit, come back out, and when he was on
- 17:36Speaker 2: the court he looked good maybe once every three games,
- 17:41Speaker 2: and the other times he was falling on the ground.
- 17:44Speaker 2: Last night they needed a three pointer, he decided to
- 17:47Speaker 2: dribble in towards the lane and gave the you know
- 17:52Speaker 2: how to turn over at the foul line against one
- 17:53Speaker 2: of the worst teams in league. By the way, yep
- 17:55Speaker 2: and H who were without uh R J Bear their
- 18:00Speaker 2: best player. They lost to the Pistons in an embarrassing
- 18:04Speaker 2: fashion without Kate Cunningham. By the way, these are these
- 18:08Speaker 2: aren't These aren't like hard fought losses. These are like
- 18:11Speaker 2: ass kickings. Even even though we lost by three last night,
- 18:15Speaker 2: we shouldn't have been in that game. Like it's just
- 18:18Speaker 2: and tonight they lost to the Brooklyn Nets to have
- 18:20Speaker 2: nothing to play for. It's that's the that's where we're
- 18:23Speaker 2: at with the season. Like they can't even beat the
- 18:26Speaker 2: teams are supposed to beat. You should just absolutely tank
- 18:30Speaker 2: the season. But like I said, they're just you know,
- 18:33Speaker 2: the other teams around them got worse than they did,
- 18:36Speaker 2: and they're just gonna gonna hover and hover and hover
- 18:38Speaker 2: and probably make the play in and then get throttled
- 18:41Speaker 2: by the Calves or the Celtics. It's a sad season.
- 18:45Speaker 2: It's pathetic, and there's not really much to say. What
- 18:48Speaker 2: I will What I do want to cover, though, is
- 18:51Speaker 2: when you when you I was so into the Eagles,
- 18:53Speaker 2: when you show me the story on your phone, like
- 18:55Speaker 2: we just got there getting settled in and you showed
- 18:58Speaker 2: it to me. And I didn't have a reaction much
- 18:59Speaker 2: because it's like whatever, fucking.
- 19:02Speaker 1: You're like, of course You're like of course, yeah, yeah.
- 19:05Speaker 2: But I'll say this, this is the first time the
- 19:07Speaker 2: Sixers did a good job PR wise with Embiid's stuff.
- 19:14Speaker 1: Because during Super Bowl Sunday.
- 19:17Speaker 2: I have it up right now on ESPN dot com
- 19:19Speaker 2: at least Asalter's story was posted at six fifty eight
- 19:22Speaker 2: pm on Sunday, twenty minutes after the Super Bowl started.
- 19:26Speaker 2: That was by design.
- 19:27Speaker 1: Yep, whoever in their PR.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Team thought of that, Hey, guess what. The Eagles run
- 19:32Speaker 2: the Super Bowl, And I bet you they probably pushed
- 19:35Speaker 2: the story even more after they won, because they're like,
- 19:38Speaker 2: no one's going to care. Yeah, yeah, it's not going
- 19:40Speaker 2: to be a big deal after they won the Super Bowl.
- 19:43Speaker 2: Really disgusting, but you know, taking myself out of it. Logically,
- 19:47Speaker 2: it's like that's the time I would have done it too.
- 19:49Speaker 2: I get it, absolutely and just just a disgraceful performance
- 19:53Speaker 2: by the organization and all the players, with the exception
- 19:56Speaker 2: of Maxi. Paul George. There's a stat out there that
- 19:59Speaker 2: he's posted more YouTube clips apparently then he has points
- 20:03Speaker 2: this year. Oh my god, I mean, it's what an asshole.
- 20:08Speaker 2: I didn't realize. I text my brother the other day.
- 20:10Speaker 2: He's slowly rising up my top ten Least six yers list.
- 20:14Speaker 2: He's been here like four months.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Yep.
- 20:17Speaker 2: An absolute travesty of a season, and it's just gonna
- 20:20Speaker 2: get worse because we're losing our first round pick. You
- 20:23Speaker 2: have two of the most untradable contracts in basketball and
- 20:25Speaker 2: BB number one Paul George, probably two, three, four somewhere
- 20:29Speaker 2: in there, and uh, that's where we're at. There's not
- 20:32Speaker 2: much else to say.
- 20:33Speaker 1: You don't think they can offload the Paul George contract.
- 20:41Speaker 2: I know, I saw it. I thought you were joking.
- 20:43Speaker 2: I was waiting for you to smile because on camera, guy,
- 20:45Speaker 2: I can see him. I thought he was joking, and
- 20:47Speaker 2: he didn't. He didn't crack. No, of course not. He's
- 20:50Speaker 2: like thirty four. He's got like a four year deal
- 20:52Speaker 2: where it's like two fifty. Nobody's going to fucking pay
- 20:54Speaker 2: this guy sixty million dollars when he's thirty eight years old.
- 20:58Speaker 2: Haven't seen him play.
- 21:01Speaker 1: I wanted to see your reaction.
- 21:04Speaker 2: I honestly, I'll be a completely I thought and beating
- 21:07Speaker 2: this is my naive six ersdom. You know. Throughout this
- 21:10Speaker 2: whole situation though, from the process when it started in
- 21:13Speaker 2: twenty thirteen, I was always bought in for the most part. Yeah,
- 21:16Speaker 2: and we've had a really exciting preseasons going into the
- 21:20Speaker 2: year going oh this could be it, man, I think
- 21:22Speaker 2: a Jimmy man. We were fucking amped and that was
- 21:25Speaker 2: it was probably the best team, and that they when
- 21:27Speaker 2: Dad didn't happen, we should have been like this is
- 21:29Speaker 2: we're fucked. But like this one, even if it beats hurt.
- 21:35Speaker 2: You got Paul George coming in, who's a constant professional
- 21:38Speaker 2: leading up to this with MAXI that is a great
- 21:41Speaker 2: one two punch. George is an excellent defender. They should
- 21:45Speaker 2: be able to hover and beat the bad teams and
- 21:48Speaker 2: then and be comes back and then we just make
- 21:49Speaker 2: a run and we're not even we're not even on
- 21:53Speaker 2: that planet anymore. No like that that that that one
- 21:56Speaker 2: that went by by like weeks and weeks ago.
- 21:58Speaker 1: I feel like they should be least seventh in the
- 22:01Speaker 1: in the east, like I should.
- 22:03Speaker 2: I should be fighting for six seven, yeah exactly, that's
- 22:06Speaker 2: and and then and then getting healthy and scaring the
- 22:08Speaker 2: ship out of Bucks in the first round something like that.
- 22:10Speaker 2: That's where they should have been, but not even close,
- 22:13Speaker 2: like we're and we're gonna lose that pick because just
- 22:17Speaker 2: because if we keep losing to the Pistons and the raptors, right,
- 22:22Speaker 2: maybe we was shot at that, but as of right now,
- 22:25Speaker 2: like you need to start losing by thirty points every
- 22:27Speaker 2: fucking night for weeks and weeks on end, and that
- 22:30Speaker 2: that just I don't If it b does go down
- 22:33Speaker 2: and George keeps scoring two points, maybe we'll get there.
- 22:36Speaker 2: It's honestly a possibility.
- 22:40Speaker 1: I also wonder, I I sy, I genuinely wonder if
- 22:47Speaker 1: these guys are just going out there. I'm gonna get
- 22:51Speaker 1: my paycheck and I'm not even gonna give it, uh
- 22:55Speaker 1: half an effort. I'm not even gonna give a fifty
- 22:57Speaker 1: percent of the effort I genuinely wonder if these guys
- 23:01Speaker 1: are just simply getting their paychecks going through the motions.
- 23:06Speaker 1: And if that's the case, what the hell does Daryl
- 23:09Speaker 1: Mory do? What does this front office do in the
- 23:11Speaker 1: off season? How can this team potentially be restructured. It's
- 23:16Speaker 1: gonna be very difficult, like you just mentioned, with the
- 23:17Speaker 1: two contracts, But like I do you, how do you
- 23:21Speaker 1: if the guys are already in that mental frame of mind,
- 23:23Speaker 1: We're gonna have this for the next three years easily.
- 23:28Speaker 2: If I'm the Sixers, If I'm Daryl Mory, you know,
- 23:31Speaker 2: I'm probably losing my job after this year. Probably maybe,
- 23:35Speaker 2: I mean, because he did make the trades to get
- 23:37Speaker 2: them under a certain part of the apron. Like all
- 23:41Speaker 2: the trades they made. I look back and I'm like, oh,
- 23:43Speaker 2: that was just salary dumb stuff, so they could get
- 23:45Speaker 2: under a certain like text thing. Uh, but you know,
- 23:50Speaker 2: you you made all these signing you signed Caleb Martin
- 23:53Speaker 2: or you trade it for sign do you sign him
- 23:56Speaker 2: a trade? It doesn't matter. They traded him for Quentin Grimes,
- 24:02Speaker 2: which actually a good player. I was actually happy with
- 24:04Speaker 2: that trade, but it was essentially to save six million dollars. Yes,
- 24:07Speaker 2: you're basically admitting, three months after this season started that
- 24:11Speaker 2: you made grave errors as a GM. All the trades
- 24:16Speaker 2: you made are just to save Josh Harris money. You're
- 24:19Speaker 2: trying to save your job. Probably to me as a fan,
- 24:23Speaker 2: you should lose your job because this has gone so poorly.
- 24:26Speaker 2: Someone has to take the blame. It's not gonna be
- 24:28Speaker 2: Josh Harris. Nick Nurse is gonna lose his job, that's
- 24:31Speaker 2: for sure. And I don't know what this team looks
- 24:35Speaker 2: like next year after this is over, and if they
- 24:37Speaker 2: lose their first round pick. If I'm in the front office,
- 24:39Speaker 2: I guess I'm Maxi McCain. Here we come. We're fun
- 24:43Speaker 2: and happy, and we're nice guys. Ignore those two assholes
- 24:47Speaker 2: over there making five hundred million dollars. I'm not sure
- 24:50Speaker 2: what you do because what an albatross these too are?
- 24:53Speaker 2: Like maybe it is literally an albatross, like the definition
- 24:57Speaker 2: of the word. Like he's a weight on you because
- 24:59Speaker 2: he's so big and slow and he's just gonna get slower.
- 25:04Speaker 2: I need to get my knee worked on to get
- 25:07Speaker 2: back to where I was. You're never coming back. Believe
- 25:09Speaker 2: that's over.
- 25:10Speaker 1: Where we are now From where this team was, where
- 25:13Speaker 1: he was just two years ago. Man, just two years ago.
- 25:17Speaker 1: It's incredible to.
- 25:18Speaker 2: Me, But it happens to seven to two hundred seventy
- 25:21Speaker 2: pound guys. Yeah, that is fast, you know what I mean.
- 25:23Speaker 2: Like the Paul George thing. I didn't see coming though.
- 25:25Speaker 2: I really thought, what a signing. You never NBA teams
- 25:31Speaker 2: never have cap space and sign sign a quote superstar
- 25:35Speaker 2: or star whatever. That just never happens. Like like teams,
- 25:39Speaker 2: teams typically put cap money aside go after all these stars,
- 25:44Speaker 2: no one signs with them, and they wind up signing
- 25:46Speaker 2: Caleb Martin to like forty million dollars, way too much money,
- 25:49Speaker 2: like that kind of thing. They overspend because they have
- 25:51Speaker 2: the money. This time it actually worked one of the
- 25:53Speaker 2: first times in ages. And he's come in and just
- 25:56Speaker 2: like shit, just absolute dog shit. He's I was. I
- 26:01Speaker 2: loved him as a player. He's really bad this year.
- 26:04Speaker 1: He's not good. Yeah, not good. All right, Well, it's
- 26:08Speaker 1: gonna do it here for uh what.
- 26:10Speaker 2: A segment chef that?
- 26:11Speaker 1: Yeahright? No, my gosh, why don't we get to some
- 26:12Speaker 1: Why don't we get to some super Bowl talk? Some
- 26:14Speaker 1: Eagles talk football talk? Dear God? All right, well, let's
- 26:18Speaker 1: get to a break. But first and foremost, if you

- 26:46Speaker 1: Just search out Eric search out myself on various social
- 26:49Speaker 1: media platforms. You will find us. We're gonna take that
- 26:52Speaker 1: break now. When we get back, we're gonna be talking
- 26:54Speaker 1: about some NFL stuff and some Super Bowl stuff and
- 26:58Speaker 1: some Eagle stuff. We're gonna take that break now. We'll
- 27:01Speaker 1: be back in just a bit. All right, we are back,
- 27:06Speaker 1: and uh yeah, Eric and I we wanna we want
- 27:08Speaker 1: to get into what are gonna be some interesting storylines
- 27:12Speaker 1: heading into this NFL off season. We're certainly gonna be
- 27:14Speaker 1: getting into the Philadelphia Eagles in just a bit. But
- 27:19Speaker 1: in terms of some like really interesting storylines, I think
- 27:22Speaker 1: there's some things in this league, Eric, that are changing
- 27:25Speaker 1: here and there, and one of them, I think that
- 27:27Speaker 1: we are seeing and yes, part of it is because
- 27:30Speaker 1: of Jalen Hurts. Part of it is because of Josh Allen.
- 27:33Speaker 1: Part of it is because of this younger quarterback uh
- 27:37Speaker 1: crop that is in the NFL. But the quarterback position
- 27:40Speaker 1: is changing, and for me, I'm gonna really be looking
- 27:43Speaker 1: at this coming off season how teams who have the
- 27:47Speaker 1: need for a quarterback, how they're going to view and
- 27:51Speaker 1: take care of this evolving quarterback position, a quarterback where
- 27:55Speaker 1: they're they're using their legs on the field and of
- 27:58Speaker 1: course also their arm and and how teams like the Giants,
- 28:02Speaker 1: the Steelers, the Titans, how they go about evaluating and
- 28:07Speaker 1: acquiring a quarterback with those characteristics and with a certain
- 28:13Speaker 1: skill set to mimic. I guess you would say what
- 28:18Speaker 1: has been happening with the quarterback position here in the
- 28:20Speaker 1: NFL so that that that's gonna be one of my
- 28:23Speaker 1: most interesting storylines heading into this offseason. You know, whether
- 28:25Speaker 1: it's gonna be rookies in the draft or whether it's
- 28:29Speaker 1: gonna be U you know you're gonna have You're gonna
- 28:32Speaker 1: have old old farts out there, like Kirk Cousins going
- 28:35Speaker 1: to some other team at this point, Aaron Rodgers, who
- 28:37Speaker 1: the hell knows what's gonna happen to him. He's horrendous.
- 28:39Speaker 1: He probably should hang it up at this point. But
- 28:42Speaker 1: there's definitely a new type of quarterback in this league,
- 28:45Speaker 1: and I'm looking forward to seeing how some of these
- 28:46Speaker 1: teams who need a quarterback are going to try to
- 28:49Speaker 1: try to get that next quarterback to fit the mold
- 28:51Speaker 1: of what we're seeing now.
- 28:55Speaker 2: I think for sure, the uh, you know, Jane Daniels
- 28:58Speaker 2: set the bar pretty high, oh yeah, for you know,
- 29:01Speaker 2: for teams looking for a quarterback. And I think I
- 29:03Speaker 2: think some of these bad teams, dumb teams, are going
- 29:06Speaker 2: to talk themselves into drafting quarterbacks a little too high
- 29:10Speaker 2: coming up this year. It was like two months already, right, yea,
- 29:13Speaker 2: pretty fast. I'll rely on you on this as far
- 29:17Speaker 2: as the college kids in your opinion, But like they've
- 29:21Speaker 2: really unfortunately the landscape of the NFL now has it's
- 29:27Speaker 2: perpetuated like these these teams are going to have to
- 29:30Speaker 2: take quarterbacks much higher they probably wanted to guys that
- 29:33Speaker 2: I am sure of, because the best quarterbacks now are
- 29:37Speaker 2: Jalen Hurts, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes a ship.
- 29:42Speaker 2: Don't count him anymore. But quarterbacks can use their legs, right,
- 29:46Speaker 2: Jayde Daniels being like the perfect example, and he's going
- 29:48Speaker 2: to be the poster boy for every every team you get.
- 29:52Speaker 2: I needed Jayden and Daniels, I need the next one
- 29:55Speaker 2: is a camp Ward? Is it the kid from Colorado?
- 29:59Speaker 1: I don't say, yeah.
- 30:00Speaker 2: I don't think either one. This is a weird draft.
- 30:03Speaker 2: If you need a quarterback, I think there's like two
- 30:05Speaker 2: maybe you know, you know, a third one is gonna
- 30:08Speaker 2: get thrown in the mixer eventually after the combine. Yeah,
- 30:11Speaker 2: and some team, some dumb team, the Raiders probably or
- 30:14Speaker 2: you know, the Giants are going to take a guy
- 30:17Speaker 2: way too high, like the kid was it Mississippi? Is
- 30:20Speaker 2: what's his name? Is he the other Jackson Dart yea, yeah,
- 30:23Speaker 2: he's like maybe the third one on the list. I
- 30:27Speaker 2: think this. I think this draft is going to be
- 30:30Speaker 2: an epic disaster for a couple of the dumb teams
- 30:33Speaker 2: out there. They're going to take. Is cam Ward even
- 30:37Speaker 2: on the same level as as Jade and Daniels, Is
- 30:40Speaker 2: Sanders even on that same level?
- 30:42Speaker 1: Probably not, I don't think so. I don't know. I
- 30:45Speaker 1: don't think at this point in time, from what I
- 30:47Speaker 1: saw this past year and what I saw with these
- 30:50Speaker 1: guys in twenty twenty three, even I would actually take
- 30:54Speaker 1: cam Ward first. I do think he has some skill
- 30:58Speaker 1: that will be transferable over to the NFL. Should Ur
- 31:01Speaker 1: Sanders I don't know, he's got legs again, he has
- 31:04Speaker 1: some Jaden Daniels type of characteristics to him. But the
- 31:09Speaker 1: thing that Jaden Daniels had this entire season, which you
- 31:13Speaker 1: cannot like teach somebody, you can teach it, but for
- 31:17Speaker 1: a rookie to come in and have the poise that
- 31:19Speaker 1: Jaden Daniels had, like I'm not sure should Her Sanders
- 31:24Speaker 1: has that. Maybe he does, maybe cam Ward does have
- 31:27Speaker 1: it as well, but that poise coming in and when
- 31:30Speaker 1: teams are expecting rookies to do what Jaden Daniels did,
- 31:34Speaker 1: it's not gonna happen. It's not gonna happen because, I mean,
- 31:38Speaker 1: when does a rookie come in, aside from maybe like
- 31:40Speaker 1: Andrew Luck, you know when we have seen in our
- 31:44Speaker 1: lifetime a rookie come in and really just kind of
- 31:47Speaker 1: set the bar to another level. Jaden Daniels, Andrew Luck.
- 31:51Speaker 1: I really can't think of any others because it certainly
- 31:53Speaker 1: wasn't Peyton Manning. His rookie season was a disaster until
- 31:56Speaker 1: he started getting going. But it's all out how these
- 32:00Speaker 1: kids are, yes kids, how how they are coached, you
- 32:04Speaker 1: know what I mean, and like their coach ability as well.
- 32:07Speaker 1: So I mean I would go cam Ward Sanders and
- 32:10Speaker 1: then Jackson Dart as the top three.
- 32:13Speaker 2: But so you talk about Manning, you talk about who's
- 32:17Speaker 2: the other kid from the colt He just said his name,
- 32:18Speaker 2: sorry Angel Luck and you Luck? So like not the
- 32:22Speaker 2: same quarterbacks though, like a little more a little more landlocked,
- 32:25Speaker 2: a little more like old school pocket passers. That's kind
- 32:28Speaker 2: of got thrown out. Yeah, definitely, all all three quarterbacks
- 32:32Speaker 2: that talked about with their legs also good pocket pastors
- 32:34Speaker 2: as well. And I think what's going to happen is,
- 32:39Speaker 2: I think these teams are going to over evaluate so
- 32:42Speaker 2: much over try and going to try and put cam
- 32:45Speaker 2: Ward and the Sanders kid into this Jayden Daniels pocket.
- 32:49Speaker 2: But meanwhile, Jane Daniel's like twenty four years old. Yeah,
- 32:53Speaker 2: like he he's a rookie, but he's not a rookie,
- 32:55Speaker 2: like he had a lot of experience, you know.
- 32:57Speaker 1: Yeah, and if.
- 32:58Speaker 2: He was an NBA player, he probably does not go
- 33:01Speaker 2: until like a late first round because of the age
- 33:02Speaker 2: thing in the NFL, it's it's a different, different, different beast.
- 33:07Speaker 2: You cannot expect a twenty twenty one year old kid
- 33:09Speaker 2: to come in and do what Jayden Daniels did because
- 33:12Speaker 2: you just you just had the experience and the poise.
- 33:14Speaker 2: Like you said, yeah, I think because of age, he's
- 33:16Speaker 2: an anomaly. So to try and copy this, I think
- 33:19Speaker 2: it's a fool's game. But that's what the draft is.
- 33:23Speaker 1: That's what the draft beata.
- 33:25Speaker 2: We have seen so many the the what was the
- 33:32Speaker 2: my god, what was the draft with the brown Oh
- 33:36Speaker 2: my god, the Browns took Who's Baker Mayfield? Baker Mayfield?
- 33:40Speaker 2: That draft right there, that was just a land mine
- 33:43Speaker 2: of ship like teams just you know, like Sam Darnald
- 33:46Speaker 2: might have made himself a little more money this year
- 33:50Speaker 2: the super Bowl. Yeah after this year now, especially after
- 33:52Speaker 2: the super Bowl, like I think his his his his stink,
- 33:56Speaker 2: the stink of him, like blowing the last two games
- 33:59Speaker 2: and looking like ship might be a little forgotten because
- 34:01Speaker 2: I think some of these smarter teams might be like,
- 34:04Speaker 2: I don't want to trade up and give up two
- 34:06Speaker 2: round pick two first round pictures for cam Ward. Maybe
- 34:08Speaker 2: I just give Donald like fifty million, yeah, and do
- 34:11Speaker 2: something like that. But like, I think the dumb teams
- 34:14Speaker 2: are gonna take these kids and gonna go We're starting
- 34:17Speaker 2: day one. They're gonna throw them to the Wolves, and
- 34:19Speaker 2: we're gonna be a Brice Young situation. Yeah, and he's
- 34:21Speaker 2: gonna be Jane Daniel's. But no, he's not. He's just not.
- 34:24Speaker 2: And and again, the teams that I'm seeing on the
- 34:26Speaker 2: on the on the the mock draft, the Titans, the Giants,
- 34:29Speaker 2: the Browns poorly poorly run teams.
- 34:32Speaker 1: Yep.
- 34:33Speaker 2: Just I can't imagine, like I mean you imagine like
- 34:38Speaker 2: going into the Browns situation with that quarterback, with all
- 34:42Speaker 2: the allegations and all the money. Yeah, and you're like, here,
- 34:45Speaker 2: you go lead us to a super Bowl, setting up
- 34:50Speaker 2: a kid for a like just for for failure. Failure, man,
- 34:53Speaker 2: it might. It just sucks. Like and I'm almost like, hey,
- 34:57Speaker 2: Jalen Hurst, you're a jerk because you're you're partly respond
- 35:00Speaker 2: so for this. Yes, what these bad teams are going
- 35:02Speaker 2: to start to do, but you know but that one
- 35:04Speaker 2: of the teams is our division, So yeah, good.
- 35:07Speaker 1: What's what what's your most interesting storyline heading into this
- 35:10Speaker 1: NFL season that I mean that was just mine right there.
- 35:12Speaker 1: I mean the evolving quarterback position and what some of
- 35:15Speaker 1: these teams are going to do to address it. I mean,
- 35:17Speaker 1: what's your most interesting storyline that you're going to be
- 35:19Speaker 1: following heading into the season off season, I should.
- 35:22Speaker 2: Say, honestly, it's what I just talked about, is watching
- 35:26Speaker 2: the dumb teams continue to be dumb. It's it's a
- 35:29Speaker 2: lot of fun. Like like, for the longest time, the
- 35:33Speaker 2: Eagles are one of the worst run organizations throughout the years,
- 35:35Speaker 2: like throughout the decades, you know, like the Norman Brayman
- 35:38Speaker 2: years near the end and the late nineties, Eagles were
- 35:41Speaker 2: just fucking horrible to watch and just and just made
- 35:44Speaker 2: awful draft picks off of free agent signings. And then
- 35:49Speaker 2: and then we're like in a in a in a
- 35:50Speaker 2: waste land and like the twenty early twenty tens a
- 35:53Speaker 2: little bit there after after the yeah, so yeah, like
- 35:57Speaker 2: I I do enjoy watching really bad, poorly run organizations
- 36:03Speaker 2: in the NFL make really bad draft picks. The Jets
- 36:06Speaker 2: were renowned for this quarterbacks and just running him into
- 36:09Speaker 2: the ground. Sam Darnold being a great example, it's probably
- 36:14Speaker 2: the most entertaining thing about the NFL. To me, it's
- 36:17Speaker 2: probably the most anything entertainment about sports, Like that poorly
- 36:21Speaker 2: run NBA teams chef's kiss.
- 36:24Speaker 1: I love.
- 36:27Speaker 2: Apparently now I'm eating my own words now is a
- 36:30Speaker 2: Philly fan, right, but like that is probably my best
- 36:34Speaker 2: Like I can't wait to see how the Titans shit
- 36:37Speaker 2: the bed to allow Derek Henry to walk in for
- 36:41Speaker 2: Will Levis and that disaster you put together last year.
- 36:45Speaker 2: Like what a great as an outside viewer, not a
- 36:49Speaker 2: Titans family, It's so much fun to watch like that,
- 36:51Speaker 2: that's what you decided to do. The kid that puts
- 36:54Speaker 2: may On in his coffee, You went with him instead
- 36:56Speaker 2: of one of the best running backs of all time,
- 36:58Speaker 2: maybe top five all time? Yeah cool, yeah, smart?
- 37:02Speaker 1: I love it all right. Well, moving on here and
- 37:06Speaker 1: sticking with some football and specifically with regard to the
- 37:09Speaker 1: Super Bowl, some numbers came out for how many viewers
- 37:14Speaker 1: actually we're watching the Super Bowl. According to Fox, the
- 37:17Speaker 1: Super Bowl broadcast drew a record audience of what was
- 37:21Speaker 1: first to believe, first to be believed, one hundred and
- 37:24Speaker 1: twenty six million viewers. They actually have said it's actually
- 37:28Speaker 1: one hundred and twenty seven point seven million viewers. Incredible, incredible, Eric,
- 37:34Speaker 1: The NFL is king, and it's not going anywhere anytime soon.
- 37:38Speaker 1: They can pretty much do anything they want. Let's look
- 37:42Speaker 1: really quick at some of the other sports that we
- 37:45Speaker 1: love watching, Baseball, hockey, basketball, thirty million watch the World Series,
- 37:51Speaker 1: sixteen point three million watch the Stanley Cup Finals amazingly enough,
- 37:56Speaker 1: and eleven point three million watched the NBA Final. And
- 38:00Speaker 1: then again you have the NFL where the Super Bowl
- 38:04Speaker 1: broadcast drew a record audience of one hundred and twenty
- 38:07Speaker 1: seven point seven million viewers. That is astonishing. You want
- 38:11Speaker 1: to talk about the NFL just murdering, And yes, it's
- 38:15Speaker 1: one day, it's one particular moment of time during the year.
- 38:21Speaker 1: I meanwhile, the World Series, you have several games, Stanley
- 38:23Speaker 1: Cup Finals, NBA Finals, same thing, several games. However, it
- 38:28Speaker 1: just goes to show what this particular sport means, I
- 38:32Speaker 1: should say American sport means, not only here in this country,
- 38:35Speaker 1: but throughout the world as well. I mean, the NFL
- 38:38Speaker 1: is truly king. Eric.
- 38:41Speaker 2: Yeah, in light of like the Luca trade and all
- 38:45Speaker 2: the stories that came out of that, I'm bringing this
- 38:47Speaker 2: up because Mark Cuban had a quote a couple of
- 38:50Speaker 2: like ten years ago when he actually thought the NBA
- 38:53Speaker 2: was going to overtake the popularity of the NFL, and
- 38:56Speaker 2: he said, pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered, meaning like
- 39:01Speaker 2: the NFL is too greedy or whatever. He obviously was
- 39:05Speaker 2: wrong there, but I thought that was an interesting quote
- 39:09Speaker 2: that I heard during the whole look at things. He
- 39:12Speaker 2: was dead wrong, and it is amazing. One hundred and
- 39:16Speaker 2: twenty six million viewers. I still can't believe more people
- 39:20Speaker 2: watch the Stanley Cup Finals in the NBA Finals but
- 39:22Speaker 2: me because it's like an entire country of Canada will
- 39:26Speaker 2: soon to be America by the way.
- 39:27Speaker 1: So yes, annex Canada folks. If we have any Canadian
- 39:31Speaker 1: listeners up there, we welcome, Welcome to America.
- 39:36Speaker 2: Hey, burn your flags now we're coming. You're going to
- 39:39Speaker 2: be in the fifty first Star. Yeah, great, So two
- 39:44Speaker 2: thoughts on that. Honestly, the NFL is king of all
- 39:47Speaker 2: that stuff, and it's just it's how it's always going
- 39:49Speaker 2: to be. As an NBA fan, I remember when I
- 39:52Speaker 2: was younger, I was always used to be like, man,
- 39:54Speaker 2: it's annoying, like, oh can't we It's just what it is.
- 39:57Speaker 1: What it is.
- 39:58Speaker 2: I like my league and I'm just gonna watch it.
- 40:01Speaker 2: But like two thoughts. One, how did they properly track
- 40:06Speaker 2: these numbers with streaming and everything? And I really don't
- 40:12Speaker 2: I'm not saying the numbers aren't right, right, I'm just
- 40:14Speaker 2: at a point where I'm like, one hundred and twenty
- 40:17Speaker 2: six million viewers. I believe it.
- 40:19Speaker 1: You're like, put, did they inflate it by forty million?
- 40:23Speaker 2: It could have been it could be not, it could
- 40:26Speaker 2: be eighty eight. Yeah, and I would have no idea.
- 40:30Speaker 2: I'd be like, that's a high number. They could say
- 40:32Speaker 2: two hundred and forty million. I'd be like, sure, right right.
- 40:35Speaker 1: I think they through Hulu though, Yeah, because we were
- 40:38Speaker 1: watching at my house on Hulu. I think you know,
- 40:40Speaker 1: Hulu's able to track how many folks are watching. Are
- 40:44Speaker 1: those other sites maybe too? I don't know. I don't know,
- 40:47Speaker 1: but I was.
- 40:49Speaker 2: I was a telecom major in college. Yes, and this
- 40:52Speaker 2: is when they still there was no streaming back then.
- 40:54Speaker 2: That's how old I am.
- 40:55Speaker 1: And yeah, Catherine ray Tubes.
- 41:00Speaker 2: Not that old. You couldn't get cancer from the TV
- 41:02Speaker 2: you're watching. I'm not that old, But like it is
- 41:06Speaker 2: bizarre to me. They like, you used to get the
- 41:08Speaker 2: Nielsen books, They sent you to your house and they
- 41:11Speaker 2: put like five bucks in there, Yeah, to entice you
- 41:13Speaker 2: to like fill it out and going. I watched mash
- 41:16Speaker 2: last night at this time to what it is now,
- 41:20Speaker 2: technology is amazing. I know they can track this stuff
- 41:22Speaker 2: much better, probably technologically. But at the same time, you know,
- 41:27Speaker 2: if in one TV in the other room, I have
- 41:29Speaker 2: the super Bowl TV, I'm watching Netflix.
- 41:31Speaker 1: Yeah, like exactly.
- 41:35Speaker 2: I don't know. It's just strange to me. I don't
- 41:37Speaker 2: know how to attract these numbers. And just on a
- 41:40Speaker 2: personal note, this is another point I have. I did
- 41:43Speaker 2: see a couple of commercials aired after the super Bowl.
- 41:47Speaker 2: Ooh television, Ooh did you they weren't just during the
- 41:51Speaker 2: super Bowl.
- 41:54Speaker 1: Got to get my wife to listen to this segment, folks,
- 41:59Speaker 1: Eric is right dicing. For some reason, my wife went
- 42:04Speaker 1: insane during the Super Bowl and was insisting that the
- 42:07Speaker 1: commercials that we were watching the popular super Bowl commercials.
- 42:11Speaker 1: It's a once and done thing, that's it. They are
- 42:14Speaker 1: only shown during the super Bowl and then never again.
- 42:17Speaker 1: And I'm sitting there telling her, I'm like, no, that's
- 42:19Speaker 1: not how it works. I'm like a number of times
- 42:22Speaker 1: over the years, I have seen commercials that have aired
- 42:25Speaker 1: during the Super Bowl and in subsequent weeks you see
- 42:28Speaker 1: the same commercials airing again. A production company is not
- 42:32Speaker 1: a company in general, like Dorito's or a car commercial.
- 42:36Speaker 1: They're not going to They're not going to generate a
- 42:38Speaker 1: commercial probably for hundreds of thousands of dollars, just to
- 42:42Speaker 1: never air it again.
- 42:44Speaker 2: Millions of dollars. Many these commercials are like, yes, it
- 42:48Speaker 2: was really funny watching the two like we were arguing.
- 42:52Speaker 2: I'm even arguing her, like her going, I'm trying to
- 42:56Speaker 2: watch this commercial. I'm never going to see it again. Yeah,
- 42:58Speaker 2: and you're going, it's gonna be on again. No way,
- 43:01Speaker 2: they're not going to share this again for all the
- 43:02Speaker 2: money they put into it. They'd paid a lot of
- 43:05Speaker 2: money to show it at this time, but like you're
- 43:07Speaker 2: definitely gonna see it again, yep. And she's just like no, Jeff, Nope,
- 43:11Speaker 2: I'm just like watching going.
- 43:14Speaker 1: You and your wife were looking at each other like
- 43:17Speaker 1: listen to these two idiots.
- 43:19Speaker 2: No. No, it was more like, yeah, how do you
- 43:22Speaker 2: argue with that? Somebody's right not going to happen, Like
- 43:25Speaker 2: it's just it really was.
- 43:27Speaker 1: Yes, it really was one of those moments of yeah,
- 43:30Speaker 1: you know what, Yeah, the sky really is green. You know,
- 43:33Speaker 1: the sky's red. And I'm like, no, no, n it's
- 43:35Speaker 1: it's it's blue. No, no, no, no, no, the sky is green. No, Jeff, exactly, Okay,
- 43:43Speaker 1: I can't wait to see one of these commercials.
- 43:46Speaker 2: The next week, it was that annoying Rocket Mortgage one.
- 43:49Speaker 2: I'll just go into it quick. I know it's political,
- 43:51Speaker 2: but like Rocket Mortgage, there's a there's a plane full
- 43:55Speaker 2: of vetsy singing lah, yeah and what and then they
- 44:02Speaker 2: cut to a guy crying who just bought his first
- 44:04Speaker 2: house and you're supposed to have like its supposed to
- 44:06Speaker 2: be a teared, jerking, heart wrenching moment. And then it
- 44:09Speaker 2: cuts to Rocket Mortgage and you're like, oh, isn't that
- 44:12Speaker 2: the isn't that the one of the companies that like
- 44:15Speaker 2: help sink the entire economy in two thousand and eight, Yeah,
- 44:18Speaker 2: sub prime mortgages.
- 44:20Speaker 1: Yeah exactly, Yep, they're back.
- 44:24Speaker 2: Let's go get an ad agency, Let's get some crying
- 44:26Speaker 2: veterans and like and some babies being held like I'm
- 44:29Speaker 2: washing you in the time. It's like, oh my god,
- 44:33Speaker 2: stop with the property. Yeah.
- 44:35Speaker 1: Oh, it's a good way, good way to end this
- 44:37Speaker 1: segment here and uh, before I let you go here,
- 44:41Speaker 1: and we're gonna be talking to Mark Schofield and just
- 44:42Speaker 1: a bit getting into this Eagle season kind of a
- 44:44Speaker 1: recap and where the team goes from here. Buddy, appreciate
- 44:49Speaker 1: you jumping on. You got anything else before I let
- 44:50Speaker 1: you go here?
- 44:52Speaker 2: Maybe we should just not do Sixers talk the rest
- 44:55Speaker 2: of the year.
- 44:56Speaker 1: I'm not kidding, man, I was. I was honestly thinking
- 44:58Speaker 1: about it. But like, I'm getting the schedule ready for
- 45:01Speaker 1: next week. Folks, we're gonna be talking to so next
- 45:05Speaker 1: next week's regular show that'll be dropping next Thursday. We're
- 45:09Speaker 1: thrown down on the table. It's gonna be a Sixers person.
- 45:11Speaker 1: It's gonna be a guy covering the Sixers. I'm like,
- 45:14Speaker 1: I'm like, we gotta do it. Even he texted me
- 45:17Speaker 1: back and he was like, he's like, boy, they really
- 45:20Speaker 1: stink right now. I'm not sure what we're gonna talk about.
- 45:23Speaker 1: And I said, we'll figure it out, dude.
- 45:25Speaker 2: That's like being a janitor. You're going, you know, say,
- 45:28Speaker 2: clean up of school. You go in that's a little dirty,
- 45:30Speaker 2: you mop up the like the cafeteria going the next
- 45:33Speaker 2: day and there's four toilet four toilets overflown, yes, diary everywhere,
- 45:38Speaker 2: It's like, what the hell, Come on, man, they're the
- 45:43Speaker 2: second day of the janitor's life.
- 45:45Speaker 1: They really are. They are they are the diarrhea. Yes,
- 45:51Speaker 1: all right, buddy, I'm gonna let you go. We are
- 45:53Speaker 1: gonna take a quick break, everybody. We will be back
- 45:55Speaker 1: in just a bit. All right, we're back. It's getting
- 45:59Speaker 1: some Eagles talk recap this season and how this team
- 46:03Speaker 1: is going to be looking down the road. It's what
- 46:05Speaker 1: we're thrown down on the table and now on the
- 46:08Speaker 1: table and joining us to get into what this Eagles
- 46:14Speaker 1: season was, what it meant where this team and organization
- 46:17Speaker 1: are going to be going in the future. We have
- 46:20Speaker 1: from SB Nation. You know, we love our SB nation sites,
- 46:23Speaker 1: but he does some great work over there, whether it's
- 46:26Speaker 1: writing about the NFL, writing about F one as well.
- 46:30Speaker 1: We have the one and only Mark Schofield. Buddy, how
- 46:32Speaker 1: are you, my friend?
- 46:33Speaker 3: Not as good as you? I know that I've always thought.
- 46:39Speaker 3: And this is because the first time the Patriots won
- 46:41Speaker 3: a Super Bowl, it was probably over for like a week. Yeah,
- 46:44Speaker 3: if your team went to super Bowl, you get like
- 46:45Speaker 3: the next week off, like the next week like nothing matters,
- 46:49Speaker 3: time doesn't matter. It's like that week between you know,
- 46:52Speaker 3: at the end of the year. But joy Christmas and
- 46:53Speaker 3: New Year's where like you're eating cheese in the morning,
- 46:56Speaker 3: like you're eating stakes, like you up is down, left
- 47:01Speaker 3: is right, Like everything's jumbled. It's just say it for
- 47:03Speaker 3: you right now. Your team wins to super Bowl, you
- 47:05Speaker 3: get a week and just do whatever you want.
- 47:06Speaker 1: I love it. I love it. It's it's I don't know
- 47:09Speaker 1: if it still hasn't like hit me yet or I'm
- 47:11Speaker 1: still like coming down from it. I'm hoping to go
- 47:13Speaker 1: to the parade, and I know we're recording this, some
- 47:16Speaker 1: people are gonna hear this this audio probably after the parade.
- 47:20Speaker 1: Not one hundred percent sure if I'm gonna go to
- 47:22Speaker 1: the parade, because the logistical nightmare it is going to
- 47:24Speaker 1: be getting in and out of Philadelphia. But man, what
- 47:27Speaker 1: a feeling, What a feeling it is. And as a
- 47:29Speaker 1: Patriots fan, you know that feeling. You had seven of them,
- 47:32Speaker 1: you know, within our modern contemporary history here. But I
- 47:37Speaker 1: I couldn't believe the Eagles won it in the manner
- 47:40Speaker 1: that they did and now I kind of wanted to
- 47:42Speaker 1: like get into some reflections of this game, reflecting on
- 47:45Speaker 1: this Super Bowl from this past week and the the
- 47:48Speaker 1: sheer total domination by the Eagles taken down the reigning champs,
- 47:53Speaker 1: the Kansas City Chiefs, and just the fact that we
- 47:56Speaker 1: actually saw Patrick Mahomes have a monumental chow job of
- 48:01Speaker 1: mass proportions base which I can say, like for the
- 48:04Speaker 1: first time, Wow, Patrick Mahomes really ended up choking. I'm
- 48:08Speaker 1: not trying to be mean or anything, you know, I'm
- 48:10Speaker 1: not trying to be mean. That's what we saw in
- 48:12Speaker 1: the field. I'm wondering, Mark, how you have been reflecting
- 48:16Speaker 1: on this particular Super Bowl. As someone who loves the
- 48:19Speaker 1: game of football so much enjoys the NFL product, what
- 48:22Speaker 1: are your overall thoughts when you reflect on this past
- 48:24Speaker 1: Super Bowl.
- 48:26Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean it's it's a great question, and there's
- 48:28Speaker 3: probably eight million different ways you could go with that.
- 48:31Speaker 3: I think, you know, just somebody as a neutral observer
- 48:35Speaker 3: of that game, it wasn't the best product. Yeah, I say,
- 48:39Speaker 3: if you're somebody, it's you know, sixty six Park Avenue
- 48:43Speaker 3: in New York City at the NFL League offices. You're like, well,
- 48:46Speaker 3: you know, that wasn't the game we were hoping for, right,
- 48:48Speaker 3: I mean, this is a thirty four to nothing game
- 48:49Speaker 3: with two minutes to go in the third quarter. I mean,
- 48:52Speaker 3: ultimately they win by eighteen, but it was never that close.
- 48:55Speaker 3: And it's interested in watching the game with friends and family,
- 48:59Speaker 3: and I had to remind them that, like super Bowls
- 49:02Speaker 3: used to be like this. I mean, blowouts used to
- 49:04Speaker 3: be the norm. Yeah, you know, Bears Patriots in Super
- 49:09Speaker 3: Bowl twenty Yeah, you know, obviously forty nine Ors Broncos
- 49:12Speaker 3: fifty five to ten. I mean, blowouts were one point
- 49:15Speaker 3: the norm. You would get excited for a Super Bowl
- 49:17Speaker 3: to be over by the second quarter. And so we've
- 49:19Speaker 3: been spoiled in recent years with a lot of really
- 49:21Speaker 3: good games. Last Year's going to overtime, for example, first
- 49:24Speaker 3: one under the new rules, and so blowouts were kind
- 49:26Speaker 3: of the norm, I think. And we talked about this
- 49:30Speaker 3: briefly before we hit the record button. You know, I
- 49:34Speaker 3: said this on a lot of shows last week going
- 49:36Speaker 3: into this game, that I thought, look, a Chief's three
- 49:39Speaker 3: point win, you know, one score win was probably a
- 49:44Speaker 3: likely scenario. But I think the second likely scenario after
- 49:48Speaker 3: that was an Eagles blowout. But the way this game
- 49:52Speaker 3: in particular unfolded, I don't think anybody saw this coming, right, Yeah,
- 49:55Speaker 3: Because if you would have told me, like, yeah, the
- 49:57Speaker 3: Eagles are going to win this game by three scorers,
- 49:58Speaker 3: I would have said, Yeah, saq one's going to go off.
- 50:00Speaker 3: He's gonna run for two hundred yards, right, They're gonna
- 50:03Speaker 3: Mahomes is gonna be a spectator. He's gonna be watching
- 50:05Speaker 3: the game basically for the rest of us, because the
- 50:07Speaker 3: Eagles are gonna dominate time of possession. And you know,
- 50:10Speaker 3: when he has the ball, he'll make some plays, but
- 50:12Speaker 3: he won't have the ball a ton and that's the
- 50:13Speaker 3: recipe for an Eagles blowout. That's not the way this unfolded.
- 50:16Speaker 3: This unfolded with that defense smothering him with while Kansas
- 50:22Speaker 3: City slowed Saquan down. Jalen Hurts had a very good game,
- 50:25Speaker 3: very you know, he had the one mistake, but I
- 50:27Speaker 3: thought a very efficient, effective game.
- 50:29Speaker 1: He was poised and we'll get into him a little
- 50:31Speaker 1: very poisoned.
- 50:32Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, So it was a gay a score that
- 50:35Speaker 3: we perhaps saw coming, but the way it unfolded, we
- 50:38Speaker 3: absolutely did not see this coming. And I think Ultimately,
- 50:42Speaker 3: it's it's vindications for the people that can like money.
- 50:45Speaker 3: I do this all the time. You get on a
- 50:46Speaker 3: show before a big game, you say, well, you know,
- 50:48Speaker 3: if this defense can get pressure with four, you know
- 50:50Speaker 3: that's the recipe to win. Right, That's exactly what happened. Right,
- 50:54Speaker 3: It's sweet vindication for that old stock answer of yeah,
- 50:57Speaker 3: you know, if the Patriots gonna get pressure with or
- 51:00Speaker 3: if the Giants can get pressure with four and Tom Brady,
- 51:02Speaker 3: they're gonna win this game. That's exactly what happened. That
- 51:04Speaker 3: didn't blitze once. By the numbers, it's incredible. You get
- 51:07Speaker 3: the interceptions, you get the fumble like pressure with Fodge
- 51:11Speaker 3: dropping seven in the coverage made it a numbers game
- 51:14Speaker 3: and it's one that Mahomes couldn't win.
- 51:15Speaker 1: Yep. Well, we talked or you briefly mentioned Jalen Hurts
- 51:20Speaker 1: quarterback position here for the Philadelphia Eagles, and I really
- 51:23Speaker 1: want to get into Jalen Hurts as a quarterback now
- 51:26Speaker 1: that he's a Super Bowl MVP, and and really how
- 51:30Speaker 1: he has grown throughout this season and really what you
- 51:33Speaker 1: have seen Mark. You know, being a former college quarterback yourself,
- 51:36Speaker 1: you understand quarterback evaluation. We've talked a number of times
- 51:39Speaker 1: on this podcast platform about quarterback evaluations, and I'd even
- 51:43Speaker 1: like to talk about where he even needs to get
- 51:45Speaker 1: better down the road, because I'm still not sure we've
- 51:48Speaker 1: actually seen his ceiling yet at this point. You may disagree.
- 51:51Speaker 1: He's certainly not a perfect quarterback, but we've seen a
- 51:54Speaker 1: lot of growth in Jalen Hurts, not just this season,
- 51:56Speaker 1: but over the years as well. So first, how should
- 51:59Speaker 1: we or how should the world of football now be
- 52:03Speaker 1: looking at Jalen Hurts as a quarterback after this Super
- 52:06Speaker 1: Bowl performance and overall the season he had.
- 52:09Speaker 3: Well, I mean, let's let's start with numbers, right, We've
- 52:11Speaker 3: always we've talked over the years, Jeff about how the
- 52:15Speaker 3: starting quarterback fraternity is a very small group. He gets
- 52:17Speaker 3: thirty two of them. Not too many people get to
- 52:20Speaker 3: do that list of Super Bowl whening quarterbacks are smaller still,
- 52:23Speaker 3: thirty five I think is the number. I looked it
- 52:25Speaker 3: up before we hopped on this morning. So he's a
- 52:27Speaker 3: member of that fraternity, and most of the members of
- 52:29Speaker 3: that frat get into the Super Bowl, I mean, not
- 52:31Speaker 3: the Super Bowl, the Hall of Fame. They're in Canton,
- 52:34Speaker 3: and i'd grudgingly admit that Eli Manning will join that
- 52:38Speaker 3: group soon. You know, whether it's two years from now,
- 52:40Speaker 3: three years from now, whatever, he's going to face a
- 52:43Speaker 3: bit of a backlog. What another one, Drew Brees probably
- 52:45Speaker 3: joins next year, and certainly Tom Brady after that. And
- 52:48Speaker 3: so he's in that group now, which speaks for itself,
- 52:52Speaker 3: I think, and I think with respect to how he
- 52:56Speaker 3: played this season, he saved his two best games for last. Yeah,
- 52:59Speaker 3: you know, she looked. The Rainer posted about it yesterday,
- 53:02Speaker 3: had an article about it. I wrote this in the postgame,
- 53:05Speaker 3: like in the thirty minutes after the game itself. His
- 53:07Speaker 3: two best games of the year were the NFC Championship
- 53:10Speaker 3: game and the Super Bowl itself. You know, she looked
- 53:12Speaker 3: at EPA part play. I was just looking up your
- 53:14Speaker 3: efficiency numbers in film, you know, because I didn't have
- 53:17Speaker 3: the EPA numbers when I wrote Sunday Night. But those
- 53:19Speaker 3: were his two best games, and you know, you look
- 53:22Speaker 3: at how efficient he was, particularly when I keep coming
- 53:26Speaker 3: back to that fourth and five play against the Commanders
- 53:28Speaker 3: before halftime, when he gets blitzed, you know, confident decision
- 53:32Speaker 3: hits Aj Brown up the left sideline for a big play.
- 53:34Speaker 3: They finished that drive with a touchdown. You know, you
- 53:36Speaker 3: look at some of the throws made he made on
- 53:38Speaker 3: Sunday night, some of the decisions he made. You know,
- 53:40Speaker 3: one of my favorite play calls from the entire season
- 53:42Speaker 3: was Kellen Moore going to the deep shot, you know
- 53:44Speaker 3: from midfield, when Kevin Burkhart was literally in the booth
- 53:48Speaker 3: as the ball was beatsnap saying, Eagle's probably just gonna
- 53:51Speaker 3: work some clock here with Saquon Barkley, they go deep
- 53:53Speaker 3: shot to brought this to the touchdown game over. I mean,
- 53:55Speaker 3: it was just brilliant from Kellen Moore. Hurts played his
- 53:59Speaker 3: two best of the year and the two biggest games
- 54:01Speaker 3: of the season. So I think that speaks volumes now
- 54:04Speaker 3: as to where he can still improve. Pressure, blitz, sim
- 54:08Speaker 3: pressures like those are the areas I still want to
- 54:11Speaker 3: see him improve because and we talked about this this season, right,
- 54:15Speaker 3: you know, the numbers against the pressure, the numbers against
- 54:18Speaker 3: sim pressures that that game against the rams of the
- 54:20Speaker 3: division around. I know Weather played something of a role there.
- 54:23Speaker 3: I know his knee played something of a role there
- 54:25Speaker 3: because he was banned up a bit. But when he
- 54:28Speaker 3: got hit, when they got hit with sim pressures. It
- 54:31Speaker 3: wasn't good, it wasn't efficient like he needed to. And
- 54:34Speaker 3: it's more than just the quarterback obviously, like you need
- 54:37Speaker 3: guys to read it out up front two. But that's
- 54:40Speaker 3: an area where I still think Jalen Hurts can improve.
- 54:43Speaker 3: And you know, we talked this year, and I know
- 54:45Speaker 3: we're going to talk about some specifics maybe in a minute,
- 54:47Speaker 3: but there were moments this year where it was like
- 54:49Speaker 3: you could tell they sat him down and said, look,
- 54:52Speaker 3: our run game is awesome, our offensive line is awesome. Yeah,
- 54:55Speaker 3: defense is really good and getting better every week. Just
- 54:58Speaker 3: don't make mistakes, right, right. He had moments throughout this season.
- 55:01Speaker 3: We talked about some specific ones during the regular season
- 55:04Speaker 3: where if it's a TI gor tie score in the
- 55:07Speaker 3: Super Bowl, you're probably making that throw. Other NFL quarterbacks
- 55:10Speaker 3: are probably making that throw with different situations around them.
- 55:13Speaker 3: But he didn't need to take chances on throws into
- 55:16Speaker 3: tighter coverage, on throws that were NFL open, or on
- 55:19Speaker 3: throws outside the numbers, because you know, punted it and
- 55:22Speaker 3: letting that defense play probably a good decision. You know,
- 55:26Speaker 3: throw it away and get into third and three or
- 55:28Speaker 3: whatever it is. You know, if you were on third
- 55:30Speaker 3: and two or a second to two or something like that,
- 55:32Speaker 3: probably a good decision with that offensive line with Saquon
- 55:34Speaker 3: because you know, even if you just get two yards,
- 55:37Speaker 3: you're lined up for tousch push on fourth and one
- 55:39Speaker 3: and you're getting a freshout of downs. And so he
- 55:42Speaker 3: was playing conservative I think throughout the season because of
- 55:45Speaker 3: the situation around him, other quarterbacks probably making those throws.
- 55:49Speaker 3: And so specifically, i'd like to see him get better
- 55:52Speaker 3: in those tim pressure blitz moments because it's an area
- 55:54Speaker 3: of his game. I still think he can improve holistically
- 55:59Speaker 3: if he has to be agressive. Next year of situations
- 56:01Speaker 3: out the same I'd like to to see him be
- 56:03Speaker 3: a bit more aggressive.
- 56:04Speaker 1: All right, very good. Well, we're talking about the moments,
- 56:07Speaker 1: the moments this season with regard to Hurts, and I'm wondering,
- 56:12Speaker 1: what you know, were there moments this season where you'd
- 56:15Speaker 1: watch Jalen Hurts and say to yourself, man, this guy
- 56:17Speaker 1: is really struggling. It's not getting the ball out of
- 56:19Speaker 1: his hand when he needs to, or you know, not
- 56:22Speaker 1: sure if this is the guy. Because I'll tell you
- 56:24Speaker 1: right now, we were asking some moment. We were asking
- 56:27Speaker 1: those questions too. On this podcast, there were a lot
- 56:29Speaker 1: of folks asking questions every now and again, week by week,
- 56:33Speaker 1: even though they were winning. Man Jalen Hurts really struggled,
- 56:36Speaker 1: you know, is he the guy to really take this
- 56:38Speaker 1: team to where we want in the future. But then
- 56:41Speaker 1: you see him rebound, You see him do some special things,
- 56:44Speaker 1: those intangible things that we know that he has within him.
- 56:49Speaker 1: I guess what I'm asking here is, were you ever
- 56:52Speaker 1: a big doubter of Jalen Hurts And was there a
- 56:55Speaker 1: moment when you saw something different in him to kind
- 56:58Speaker 1: of change that perspective.
- 57:00Speaker 3: Wasn't so much that I was a doubter. You know,
- 57:04Speaker 3: you mentioned, you know, my own quarterback career, and you know,
- 57:07Speaker 3: playing in high school, playing Division III in college doesn't
- 57:09Speaker 3: really you know, I'm not exactly playing on Super Bowl Sunday.
- 57:13Speaker 3: But what I saw is and I take that Carolina
- 57:17Speaker 3: game in the regular season as an example of this,
- 57:20Speaker 3: and I really I saw a lot of myself in
- 57:24Speaker 3: those moments, because there were moments in that game where
- 57:29Speaker 3: other aggressive NFL quarterbacks are going to make throws where
- 57:32Speaker 3: he didn't try them. And even one of his bigger
- 57:34Speaker 3: plays in that game, he had an opportunity for a
- 57:37Speaker 3: throw over the middle, ended up bailing from a clean pocket,
- 57:39Speaker 3: and I think hit DeVonta Smith up the weft sideline
- 57:42Speaker 3: for a big game. But it's still I don't need
- 57:45Speaker 3: to risk this now. For me, it was I don't
- 57:49Speaker 3: want to risk this because I don't want to lose
- 57:50Speaker 3: my job. I don't want to get benched. I'm looking
- 57:52Speaker 3: over my shoulder. For Hurts, I think it was really
- 57:54Speaker 3: what we talked about him a few minutes ago, which
- 57:56Speaker 3: is the situation around you is so good. That defense
- 58:00Speaker 3: is very good, our run game is very good. Saquon
- 58:03Speaker 3: is playing at an elite level. Our offensive line is tremendous.
- 58:06Speaker 3: Like if you aren't one hundred percent sure of something,
- 58:09Speaker 3: if you're ninety eight percent sure of something, throw it away,
- 58:12Speaker 3: throw it away like it's it's fine. We can live
- 58:15Speaker 3: with that. So I think it was more just the
- 58:18Speaker 3: surrounding circumstance for Jalen Hurts. This year was a very
- 58:22Speaker 3: good situation for him. He didn't need to take chances.
- 58:25Speaker 3: But as we got deeper into the season, as we
- 58:28Speaker 3: got to know that out of c Championship game, as
- 58:31Speaker 3: we got to Super Bowl Sunday, he started to take
- 58:33Speaker 3: some more chances. He started to open it up a bit,
- 58:35Speaker 3: because as you get deeper into the season, the level
- 58:38Speaker 3: of plays increase, the talents on the other side of
- 58:40Speaker 3: the ball decrease. You have to start taking those chances.
- 58:42Speaker 3: And he was able to do that. And it kind
- 58:45Speaker 3: of flies in the face of something I've always thought
- 58:46Speaker 3: about quarterback play, which is it's hard to dial up
- 58:49Speaker 3: the aggression. It's easier to sort of take a step back.
- 58:52Speaker 3: He sort of showed that you can do that. You
- 58:54Speaker 3: can get more aggressive when you need to as a
- 58:56Speaker 3: quarterback if you've been conservative in the past. And so,
- 59:00Speaker 3: you know, it wasn't so much that I ever doubted him.
- 59:03Speaker 3: It was okay, you know, I understand the context of
- 59:07Speaker 3: the situation around you. You're in a very good position.
- 59:09Speaker 3: You've got great talent around you, elite talent around you.
- 59:11Speaker 3: You're in a very good place as a quarterback. But
- 59:14Speaker 3: can you be aggressive when you need to? And he
- 59:16Speaker 3: showed that to the last two games of the season.
- 59:18Speaker 1: Absolutely, And to our listeners out there, we're not crapping
- 59:20Speaker 1: on Jalen Hurts right here. I want to be very clear,
- 59:23Speaker 1: you know, for our listeners that listened to our postgame
- 59:26Speaker 1: podcast shows over the entire season. You know, we gave
- 59:29Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts some very honest grades and that's what we're
- 59:33Speaker 1: talking about here. And what Mark is saying that growth
- 59:35Speaker 1: that we saw, that aggressiveness towards the end of the season.
- 59:39Speaker 1: That's what is important and leads me to believe that
- 59:42Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts can do more on the field in the
- 59:44Speaker 1: coming seasons. And it remains to be seen how that
- 59:47Speaker 1: all manifests itself and plays out, but I personally believe
- 59:52Speaker 1: that he definitely has an even higher ceiling. But Marcus,
- 59:57Speaker 1: we're moving along with a conversation here. I want to
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: talk about the offense and I want to get into
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: some ratings here with you do a little something fun,
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: something we don't normally do on PST podcast show. So
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: if you had to rate the aspects of this Eagles
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: offense in terms of the quot least important to the
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: most important, how would you rate them? Number one being
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: the most important? So we can go through the quarterback,
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: offensive line, the running backs, the receivers, because there's always
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: a debate and there has been. Of course, we know
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: Saquon Barkley and his importance. We know Jalen Hurts and
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: how important he was in terms of his aggressiveness, like
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: we were just talking about toward the latter part of
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: the season. Then the offensive line, I mean, they were
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: a weapon themselves. And of course when you have receivers
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: like aj Brown, Devonte Smith and even Dallas Godder being
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: able to make those critical third down conversions, you certainly
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: have weapons on this team. But in terms of importance.
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: And it may be unfair for me to ask, you
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: know how important this position is or this particular player,
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: but we're still gonna do it. I think it's gonna
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: be fun. So if you had to rate them again,
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: number one being most important, would you go with the quarterback,
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: offensive line, running back, or receivers. How would you rate
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: all of these units and players?
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: I'm gonna go, you know me, I want to take
- 1:01:18Speaker 3: the coward's way out and say that they're all equally important. Fantastic,
- 1:01:23Speaker 3: But that doesn't make for good that doesn't make for
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: a good pluck, right, I start with you. I honestly
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: think the offensive lot is the most important piece here.
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: Absolutely. I am glad we're together with this. YEP.
- 1:01:34Speaker 3: I think at the end of the show we're going
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: to talk big picture you know, wider lens type of stuff.
- 1:01:42Speaker 3: But I really think that this Eagles team, you know,
- 1:01:46Speaker 3: and this is something that JP Acosta and Eyed Estimination
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: have been talking about for a couple of years now,
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: the return of big boy football. We've been saying that, Look,
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: this game is cyclical, you know, schemes come around full circle.
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: With all of the importance of the passing game over
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: the past say, ten twelve years, there is going to
- 1:02:04Speaker 3: be a point of diminishing returns because defenses will start
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: playing two deep quarters. They'll be rushing three, they'll be
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: rushing four. They'll be so worried about eliminating and then
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: taking away big plays that they will come a point
- 1:02:18Speaker 3: where the balance tips and suddenly it's the run game
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: in the offensive line that matter. Aton and I think
- 1:02:23Speaker 3: that the Eagles, you know, one of one of, not
- 1:02:26Speaker 3: the but one of the ultimate stories of this Eagles
- 1:02:29Speaker 3: team and the season is what they were able to
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: do on the ground with that offensive line in Sague
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: one Barkley and so I think it starts with that
- 1:02:36Speaker 3: offensive line, which is such a good, cohesive and incredibly
- 1:02:40Speaker 3: talented group. So I think they deserve a ton of
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: credit for what this team was able to accomplish this year,
- 1:02:46Speaker 3: you know, and then and then from there, you know,
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: I would have sai Quana Jalen as like, you know,
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: two on the same level. That's fair, You'll be like,
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: I think they'd work. A lot of what they do
- 1:02:58Speaker 3: goes hand in hand. And I think an understated part
- 1:03:02Speaker 3: of that game Sunday Night is what Jalen was able
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: to do with his legs. Yeah, you know, because they
- 1:03:06Speaker 3: couldn't get Saquan going, but Jalen picked up seventy two
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: yards on the ground and they had some runs, particularly
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: in the second half of that game, to extend drives,
- 1:03:14Speaker 3: work clock things like that. There was a great play
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: where you know, he caught the Chiefs in man coverage
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: and he just talked and away and picked him a
- 1:03:22Speaker 3: first out. And so I think the two of them
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: are very complimentary, you know, in terms of schematics, certainly
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: what they can do in the run games, zone read
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: and things like that. You know, So I'd have them,
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: you know, tied for two. And then I think the
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: receivers are three on this list. And it's not to
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: say that, look, they aren't a great group, because they are,
- 1:03:38Speaker 3: so have to say that they weren't important to this
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: team's success because they were. It's not to say that
- 1:03:42Speaker 3: aj Brown is not one of the best characters in
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: this entire sport, because he is between you know, reading
- 1:03:47Speaker 3: the book on the sidelines, which is fantastic. Yeah to
- 1:03:51Speaker 3: the post on social media in just the past couple
- 1:03:53Speaker 3: of hours where he's talking about the hunt and just
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: giving credits to Denny Carter's in fast incredible tweet about
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: you know, tweets by position groups and quarterbacks and wide receivers.
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: I'm saying divergently different things. Wide receivers saying things like
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: Theannam seeks softly but carries a knife, and wide receivers
- 1:04:09Speaker 3: all post like that on social media. It's brown latest
- 1:04:12Speaker 3: example of it. But I do think it really Jeff
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: started with that offensive line. Yes, and we're getting into
- 1:04:20Speaker 3: the offseason, we're getting into the draft season, a free
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: agency and thirty one other team's gonna look at how
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: the Eagles one say, how can we replicate that? So
- 1:04:27Speaker 3: I think you're gonna see teams spend big along the
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: offensive line of free agency, teams draft along the offensive
- 1:04:33Speaker 3: line when it comes draft time, and Ashton Jenks is
- 1:04:36Speaker 3: probably gonna go in the top ten or twelve picks
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: because people are gonna say, how do we get our
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: Saquan Yeah, and they're gonna look at them in the
- 1:04:42Speaker 3: draft and try to do it that way. And so
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: I think this Eagles team is that offense you know,
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: NFL football comeing full circle kind of moment, and it
- 1:04:51Speaker 3: starts with that offensive line, and we're gonna see teams
- 1:04:53Speaker 3: try to replicate that this offseason.
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: Again, folks were talking to Mark Scofield from SB Nation
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: head over to SP Nation. Fantastic content always and Mark,
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: I know you're on Blue Sky, buddy, right, people can
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: just search out Mark Schofield. I think you're over on
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: threads as well.
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: Correct, Mark Scofield three nine one six on Threads. Mark
- 1:05:12Speaker 3: Scofield on Blue Sky. Yeah, I mean those are the
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: two fun plow now they are. Oh you you can
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: find me there?
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: All right, sounds good. But let's move over to the defense.
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: It is really astonishing how Vic Fangio in this defensive
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: coaching staff took a bottom of the barrel defense from
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: last season, completely altered the trajectory of the entire unit.
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: It's a unit that has grown and grown and grown
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: over the season. You lose Brandon Graham, He's able to
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: come back for the final game, not only of the season,
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: but the Super Bowl, the final game of his career.
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: So many amazing storylines with regard to this defense all
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: year and its growth, and even as free agency is
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: going to be here before we know it. You just
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: mentioned free agency, Mark, how should we be looking at
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: this Eagles defense defense from here on out? Uh, in
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: terms of a powerhouse that they could potentially be in
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: the future next season and even beyond.
- 1:06:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I think there's a lot to be
- 1:06:15Speaker 3: excited about if you're an Egos fan with respect to
- 1:06:17Speaker 3: this defense. I mean, you're gonna lose Brandon Graham, you know, obviously, Yeah,
- 1:06:21Speaker 3: you know, I'm gonna hand them out and deservedly so,
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: and potentially a Hall of Fame player. I think you
- 1:06:30Speaker 3: might lose Josh Wett, you know, because he's entered free agency,
- 1:06:33Speaker 3: just hired a new representation. You probably gonna get a
- 1:06:35Speaker 3: big deal. And I think you'll probably do whatever you
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: can to get Zach Blond back because I think he's,
- 1:06:41Speaker 3: you know, showed that at the heart of that defense.
- 1:06:44Speaker 3: He can certainly do tremendous things. But you've got a
- 1:06:47Speaker 3: lot of interest in young talent, particularly in the secondary,
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: and so I think there's a lot to be excited about.
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: And this is a defense that quick study started off slowly,
- 1:06:58Speaker 3: you had to early buy really kicked into gears since then.
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: And you know, if you can get you know, whether
- 1:07:07Speaker 3: it's via the draft, you know, second third tier free agency,
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: another pass rusher to offset the loss of sweat, the
- 1:07:14Speaker 3: expected loss of sweat, you're going to be able to
- 1:07:17Speaker 3: do what they did in the Super Bowl, which is
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: get pressure four. And you know that is such a
- 1:07:23Speaker 3: game changer for an offense, I mean for defense. Excuse me.
- 1:07:27Speaker 3: You know that plays into how Vic Fangiel wants to
- 1:07:29Speaker 3: do things. I think a lot of it also stems
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: from having those two guys in the interior, Davis and Carter.
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: I mean, they're just game wreckers on the inside, and
- 1:07:39Speaker 3: it changes everything you have to do as an offensive line.
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: When you're centering guards you know, can't really help out
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: too much on the outside, and now you're getting one
- 1:07:48Speaker 3: on ones for guys like Sweat like Smith, you know,
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: on the edge. It's a huge, huge butterfly efflect along
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: that defensive front. And so it's a defense that I
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: think obviously we got better as of the season one on.
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: You know, when you got young guys like Degi, you know,
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: Cooper getting a pick six on a Super Bowl or
- 1:08:06Speaker 3: his birthday. I mean storybook type stuff. I mean, you've
- 1:08:10Speaker 3: got these young guys in the secondary that are playing
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: extremely well, and you know, I think it's just testament
- 1:08:16Speaker 3: to how they've built this roster, testament to Vic Fangio.
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: You know, the decision too ident And this is the
- 1:08:22Speaker 3: one that really reminds me a lot of that Patriots
- 1:08:25Speaker 3: run that Patriots donasty. The Zach Bond moved to highlight
- 1:08:29Speaker 3: and this is a theme we've talked about over the years.
- 1:08:32Speaker 3: Tell me what he can do right right? You know,
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: the Saints we're using him on the edge, using him
- 1:08:36Speaker 3: as a pass rusher, and they looked at him and said, look,
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: this guy's an off ball linebacker. Get him in our building.
- 1:08:40Speaker 3: He's an off ball linebacker. He'll be great. It's very
- 1:08:44Speaker 3: similar to the like the Kyle Van Noys sound and
- 1:08:46Speaker 3: where you know, New England looked at how he's being
- 1:08:50Speaker 3: used in the right said no, no, no, we can
- 1:08:51Speaker 3: do something bigger with him. And that was so reminiscent
- 1:08:54Speaker 3: of those Patriots runs. And so I think if you're
- 1:08:57Speaker 3: an Eagles fan, you look at this defense, you can't
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: help but be excited about the future.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: Absolutely. Well, Mark, before I let you go, Buddy, wanted
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: to talk about this Eagles team from a more macro standpoint,
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: you know, you know, expanding that lens a bit overall,
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: Where do you think this Eagles team will be ranked?
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: When you know, football enthusiasts years and years down the
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: road look at the history of NFL teams, this particular
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: NFL team, or this particular Eagles team in the twenty
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: twenty four twenty twenty five season, how do you think
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: history should look at this Eagles team?
- 1:09:29Speaker 3: You know, honestly, that's a tough question to answer right now. Yeah,
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: but I think with the benefit of time, we're going
- 1:09:37Speaker 3: to look back on this Eagles team if what I
- 1:09:39Speaker 3: think is happening truly ends up happening, and you know,
- 1:09:42Speaker 3: the game comes full circle when we see run game,
- 1:09:45Speaker 3: offensive line, things like that become more and more important
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: prominent over these next couple of years, people are going
- 1:09:51Speaker 3: to point to this team as the one that's sort
- 1:09:53Speaker 3: of changing the game, right Yeah, Like you think about
- 1:09:56Speaker 3: other Super Bowl winners, like I think about one and
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: the Niners beat the Bengals in Super Bowl sixteen, and
- 1:10:02Speaker 3: it was the start of that Niners run. That was
- 1:10:05Speaker 3: sort of the start of West Coast offense, Bill Walsh
- 1:10:08Speaker 3: and all of that which then became, you know, spread
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: throughout the league. That was the wave of offensive football
- 1:10:15Speaker 3: that changed the sort of eighties and early nineties. And
- 1:10:18Speaker 3: I think, you know, a lot of people look at
- 1:10:19Speaker 3: the later Niners teams like the team that you know
- 1:10:22Speaker 3: beat you know, Dan Marino in the Super Bowl and
- 1:10:25Speaker 3: some of those you know, the fifty five to ten team,
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: and you know, this team to beat the Bengals in
- 1:10:30Speaker 3: the second go round as a sort of heart and
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: soul of that Niners run. But it was really that
- 1:10:34Speaker 3: first team that started that new era of offensive football.
- 1:10:38Speaker 3: And I think we might see something similar with his
- 1:10:41Speaker 3: Eagles team. So steam here right now. A lot, I
- 1:10:43Speaker 3: know a lot of people have said, like Dvoa and
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: other things like this wasn't a great super Bowl team
- 1:10:47Speaker 3: or whatever, and they were ranked like in the thirtieth,
- 1:10:50Speaker 3: the thirties or all the teams that have won Super Bowls,
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: And maybe that's in a fair assessment right now by
- 1:10:56Speaker 3: the numbers for the moment but I think as we
- 1:10:59Speaker 3: get to three four years down the road, and if
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: this trend of you know, NFL evolution that I think
- 1:11:05Speaker 3: is coming does eventually happen, we'll look back at this
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: Eagles team and say, yeah, this is the team that
- 1:11:11Speaker 3: changed the game for the next ten to fifteen to
- 1:11:13Speaker 3: twenty years. And so I think with the hindsight of time,
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: we'll eventually look back at this Eagles team and say
- 1:11:18Speaker 3: that's like, yeah, they were one of the most important
- 1:11:20Speaker 3: teams in football history because of the way that they
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: set us up for the next twenty years of NFL football.
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: One of the reasons I love football. It's always changing,
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: always evolving, and it's great to be able to talk
