- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to a DM podcast.
- 0:03Speaker 2: We'll try to keep it as nice as we can,
- 0:05Speaker 2: but you might hear the occasional swear word in.
- 0:06Speaker 3: No Dribble don't tell me.
- 0:20Speaker 4: Hello, and welcome to.
- 0:21Speaker 2: No Dribble, the podcast where we talk about netball, but
- 0:24Speaker 2: we talk about.
- 0:25Speaker 4: So much more. My name's Carolyn Swindell.
- 0:27Speaker 2: I'm joined in studio again, which is lovely to have
- 0:31Speaker 2: the company of the fine and fair Catherine Cox.
- 0:35Speaker 1: He's in a little bit of Morning this morning.
- 0:37Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, welcome too that there is netball to talk about,
- 0:41Speaker 2: or maybe we just don't mention it.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Ever and pretend like it never happened.
- 0:46Speaker 2: We're also joined, as we are every week by us.
- 0:51Speaker 3: Happy twenty fifth thirty one, quarter of a century.
- 0:53Speaker 4: Quarter of a century?
- 0:54Speaker 5: Yeah to again.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Do we have a quarter century crisis? I think that's
- 0:59Speaker 2: a new thing. They're not even they're not even waiting
- 1:01Speaker 2: for their midlife to have a Classis they have a
- 1:03Speaker 2: quarter century crisis now?
- 1:04Speaker 1: Is because we're all dying earlier?
- 1:06Speaker 4: No, we're dying later. Yes, twenty five episodes.
- 1:12Speaker 1: In gosh, that's amazing. We should get a medal just
- 1:15Speaker 1: for that alone. Hey, now, what'd you have for breakfast
- 1:17Speaker 1: this morning? Me, miss winder Well.
- 1:19Speaker 2: I was very happy with my breakfast this morning. I
- 1:21Speaker 2: had a piece of sourdough toast with veggimite on it.
- 1:25Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Okay, Now, so last week you posted something on socials
- 1:28Speaker 1: that that was hands down best breakfast ever.
- 1:32Speaker 4: Correct.
- 1:32Speaker 2: I also posted that no correspondence would be entered into
- 1:35Speaker 2: and that the judge's decision was final.
- 1:37Speaker 4: So did you read the terms and conditions?
- 1:39Speaker 6: Now?
- 1:39Speaker 1: I don't care about your stupid terms and conditions. My
- 1:42Speaker 1: question to you is is that an everyday thing like you?
- 1:45Speaker 1: It's not. So that's a special treat. So if you
- 1:47Speaker 1: were to go to a cafe, you're still ordering.
- 1:50Speaker 2: That sometimes avocado and vegimite, although I'm I'm really particular
- 1:55Speaker 2: about how much I want my toast toasted, and sometimes
- 1:58Speaker 2: cafes just don't toast the bread enough.
- 2:00Speaker 4: So more often than not, I'll make it at home
- 2:03Speaker 4: and have something else if I'm out.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Oh my god, Elizabeth Ellis, can I say clarity here?
- 2:08Speaker 5: So you're saying that when you go to a cafe,
- 2:12Speaker 5: carol It, do you order toast with vegimie?
- 2:16Speaker 4: Sometimes not all the time. I mean, you know, sometimes
- 2:20Speaker 4: I'll have eggs. I'll shake it up a bit. Sometimes
- 2:22Speaker 4: I'll have a shuck sugar sugar yeah, so, or love
- 2:30Speaker 4: a good poke bowl.
- 2:32Speaker 5: You know.
- 2:32Speaker 2: It's not like I'm just ordering the one thing. But
- 2:34Speaker 2: I just think that the best breakfast, the highest return
- 2:38Speaker 2: on the lowest input of effort and cost for me,
- 2:42Speaker 2: is good sour bread toasted well with butter and vegemite.
- 2:46Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:47Speaker 4: And I don't see how this is an issue for anyone.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Well, I'm not saying it's an issue. I just question
- 2:52Speaker 1: your decision making. Okay, Now I'm a little concerned if
- 2:57Speaker 1: that's all. It's just so boring on like your best
- 3:01Speaker 1: breakfast ever, elis you would have eggs of some sort,
- 3:03Speaker 1: wouldn't you.
- 3:04Speaker 5: Well I would, but I think if it was like
- 3:07Speaker 5: the best breakfast I've ever had, if that's what Carolyn
- 3:10Speaker 5: was saying, she wouldn't say the best breakfast I've ever had,
- 3:13Speaker 5: but she's talking about the best Like there's a few
- 3:15Speaker 5: qualifications in your best breakfast for lowest investments. So I
- 3:19Speaker 5: would go sourdough toast as well for like low investment
- 3:22Speaker 5: because I just can't come and eating cereal.
- 3:25Speaker 3: No, I go eggs. And if I'm really in a hurry.
- 3:28Speaker 3: I just quickly scrambled some up and throw a bit
- 3:31Speaker 3: of salt and I'm good.
- 3:32Speaker 4: Yeah, eggs to do you to pay for your eggs?
- 3:36Speaker 1: No?
- 3:36Speaker 3: I pay for the food, okay, chicken, and then we
- 3:40Speaker 3: get the eggs.
- 3:41Speaker 5: But that is a diminishing return because the eagles are
- 3:43Speaker 5: hungry and they're looking for chickens.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Chickens are cheap, though, what did you tell us twenty
- 3:47Speaker 1: seven dollars a pop or something?
- 3:49Speaker 3: Yeah? Not if you feed them to the eagles every week.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Well, no, do you need to plant the eagles up
- 3:54Speaker 1: eat them?
- 3:55Speaker 2: One of the dribler's put a little rolling cage that
- 3:58Speaker 2: you can on the Facebook page. It's like you put
- 4:00Speaker 2: your chicken in this and it rolls around on the
- 4:02Speaker 2: grass and in this cage that it's pretty The eagle
- 4:06Speaker 2: could just carry it off in the cage, That's.
- 4:08Speaker 5: What I thought, because the chickens check themselves by running
- 4:11Speaker 5: under like bushes, and I can't quite see them getting
- 4:13Speaker 5: those cages under the bushes, like it's a lovely idea.
- 4:16Speaker 5: But all I can see is chickens just carrying up
- 4:18Speaker 5: and picking up these cages and flying off into the
- 4:21Speaker 5: hill and just dropping through a great height until the
- 4:23Speaker 5: chicken died.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Yeah, that's funny because all I could see was the
- 4:27Speaker 1: chicken's legs going through the cage, and then it's just
- 4:29Speaker 1: being upstairs. Either way, not the best.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Oh, it's terrible being the bottom of the food chain.
- 4:37Speaker 2: But maybe, like, did you have a tough weekend? Because
- 4:39Speaker 2: I feel like you've come out all guns flas. But
- 4:42Speaker 2: that's a week ago. I made that Instagram past and
- 4:44Speaker 2: last week you said I'm going to talk to you about.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Yeah, because it's just not right. Yeah, where's your where's
- 4:50Speaker 1: your eggs?
- 4:51Speaker 3: Benny?
- 4:51Speaker 1: With your side of mimosa and giant flat white.
- 4:54Speaker 4: I'm not saying I would.
- 4:55Speaker 1: I know, I know, I don't do that. Well, you caught.
- 4:59Speaker 4: But how was your weekend? Then?
- 5:01Speaker 1: No, weekend was great? Obviously a little bit of nutball
- 5:04Speaker 1: we'll talk about later on, but I had a couple
- 5:06Speaker 1: of playdates. So first week back at school and then
- 5:10Speaker 1: our school decides on the Friday that it'll be a
- 5:13Speaker 1: staff development day. Kill me. Now, we just like, I
- 5:16Speaker 1: appreciate teachers and how much they work, but you can't
- 5:19Speaker 1: tell me four days backs too much or no, it
- 5:22Speaker 1: probably is, isn't it. Why not have it on the
- 5:24Speaker 1: Monday not let everybody get back into a routine and
- 5:27Speaker 1: feel like you're back in the swing of things. And
- 5:29Speaker 1: then I was surprise another day off. Anyway, we had
- 5:33Speaker 1: a couple of playdates, which I'm all for. I know
- 5:36Speaker 1: a lot of parents hate the idea of a playdate,
- 5:38Speaker 1: but as an only child, if she doesn't have someone
- 5:42Speaker 1: to play with her, I have to play with her.
- 5:44Speaker 1: So the playdate I am all for, and I think
- 5:47Speaker 1: I've mastered it. So what I do with the girls now?
- 5:51Speaker 1: As I give them ten bucks each, take them to
- 5:54Speaker 1: camer and they disappear for hours.
- 5:56Speaker 4: That's good, isn't it.
- 5:57Speaker 1: It's great? And they come back with a whole heap
- 5:59Speaker 1: of filled that's not fine, but it keeps them then
- 6:02Speaker 1: entertained for the rest of the afternoon as well, playing
- 6:04Speaker 1: with whatever they've got.
- 6:05Speaker 4: And they would have had a great time. They have
- 6:07Speaker 4: grown up, you'd feel in that circumstance they have the
- 6:09Speaker 4: best time.
- 6:10Speaker 1: And I get my coffee and then go and wander
- 6:12Speaker 1: around other parts of k Mate.
- 6:13Speaker 5: Have you guys seen have we talked? I can't remember
- 6:16Speaker 5: if we've talked about this. There was a bit of
- 6:18Speaker 5: a controversy on social media a little while ago about
- 6:22Speaker 5: a mum who sent an invoice to another mum for
- 6:25Speaker 5: a playdate for the food that was eaten, for damage
- 6:29Speaker 5: to some or to a couch or something like a kid.
- 6:32Speaker 5: A mum invited a kid over and they had the playdate,
- 6:34Speaker 5: and then the kid came home with his invoice for
- 6:37Speaker 5: food and drink and all that sort of stuff. And
- 6:39Speaker 5: I was like, oh, I think that's a bit rough.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Yeah wow, So what you think who gets pushed to
- 6:45Speaker 2: that point after one played at So maybe they've had
- 6:47Speaker 2: this kid over before and it's like this kid behaves poorly.
- 6:50Speaker 4: But it's like, well, don't have the kid back then? No,
- 6:52Speaker 4: you don't send them home with an invoice.
- 6:54Speaker 3: No, and surely you just.
- 6:56Speaker 5: Ring up and go listen, my son wants or my
- 6:58Speaker 5: daughter wants your kid to come over. I'm going to
- 7:01Speaker 5: be honest, there's been some issues. I'm going to charge
- 7:04Speaker 5: you for this, this and this and the other can go, well,
- 7:07Speaker 5: you're an asshole, so I won't come over.
- 7:08Speaker 3: Well they say okay, and then you're all clear. It's
- 7:10Speaker 3: all very clear.
- 7:11Speaker 5: But I think it's really passive aggressive to be sending
- 7:14Speaker 5: an invoice home with your kids.
- 7:16Speaker 4: Is it passive aggressive?
- 7:17Speaker 2: I just think it's aggressive. It's like, man, that's that's crazy.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Because my daughter is in year five now, she feels
- 7:23Speaker 2: a bit too old for vacation camp. But I did
- 7:25Speaker 2: some rotating playdates with some of the other family. So
- 7:28Speaker 2: there was one day that I had five of the
- 7:31Speaker 2: kids and it's like, all right, we're going to a
- 7:32Speaker 2: movie and we're going to jamcha and that was my day.
- 7:35Speaker 2: And then I got four days in return for that.
- 7:38Speaker 2: But the only difficulty is when they bring their own money.
- 7:41Speaker 2: It's like, I really appreciate it that the parents will go, well,
- 7:44Speaker 2: you've got to offer to pay you away, but it's like, well,
- 7:46Speaker 2: actually no, when they're with me, I'll pay.
- 7:48Speaker 4: When they're with you, you pack.
- 7:50Speaker 2: And then because some kids have got lots of money
- 7:53Speaker 2: and other kids don't have any money, so then it's
- 7:56Speaker 2: I'm having to say, well, I forbid you to spend
- 7:58Speaker 2: your own money on something that your parents have authorized
- 8:01Speaker 2: you to spend money on it.
- 8:02Speaker 4: So anyway, again, in.
- 8:03Speaker 1: A group of kids, yeah, that's that's difficult. When it's
- 8:06Speaker 1: a one on one. I do appreciate the parents sending
- 8:08Speaker 1: money with them, never never expected, and of course pay
- 8:10Speaker 1: for all the stuff. That's fine. But just on that mark,
- 8:13Speaker 1: please come to the next play date. I do love
- 8:15Speaker 1: some movies and umpho.
- 8:16Speaker 4: It's great and so good.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Yeah, I went and saw The Wild Robot, which was
- 8:19Speaker 2: really nice and I only had a little sleep in
- 8:22Speaker 2: this movie. Generally, I quite like go to children's movies
- 8:25Speaker 2: because I get a decent snooze. And my daughter actually
- 8:27Speaker 2: briefed the other girls it's like, if mom falls asleep,
- 8:29Speaker 2: you don't wake her.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Everybody, that's their issue.
- 8:35Speaker 4: Not mine.
- 8:35Speaker 1: You never farted in your sleep at the movies?
- 8:39Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it's.
- 8:42Speaker 3: Part of the surround sounds.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Gosh, you don't want that ample fod.
- 8:47Speaker 5: I took my kid, I took everyone when she was little,
- 8:50Speaker 5: and my niece with a couple of other kids to
- 8:52Speaker 5: see the Minions movie, and I think it was a
- 8:55Speaker 5: despicable mean one and yeah, the bad character and the
- 8:58Speaker 5: woman who gets to change saw and tries to kill
- 9:00Speaker 5: him with the chainsaw.
- 9:02Speaker 3: At some point anyway, she starts doing that, and Evelyn freaked,
- 9:06Speaker 3: like really lost her ship during the movie and I
- 9:08Speaker 3: had to pick her out and I was like, oh,
- 9:10Speaker 3: was it the chain saw? She goes that bad woman.
- 9:12Speaker 1: She looked like you, mum, oh, do you know what
- 9:16Speaker 1: she kind of does. Oh that's awesome.
- 9:20Speaker 3: Yeah, so everyone it just freaked her out.
- 9:22Speaker 5: This woman who was really bad and really mean and
- 9:24Speaker 5: got the chainsaw out was chasing.
- 9:26Speaker 4: Was she well behaved after that though, It's like, shit,
- 9:28Speaker 4: they're basing movies on my mother. She's badass.
- 9:33Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 9:33Speaker 3: I probably I shouldn't have tried to comfort it.
- 9:35Speaker 5: Should I should have said, well, you know, real life
- 9:38Speaker 5: may even take what's going one.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Mine plays tricks with you on the farm because no
- 9:43Speaker 1: one can.
- 9:44Speaker 3: Hear you, and we do have a number of chainsaws
- 9:49Speaker 3: in the ship.
- 9:50Speaker 1: Yes see.
- 9:51Speaker 6: Oh nice. Yeah.
- 9:53Speaker 4: Well, I had an interesting weekend.
- 9:55Speaker 2: I did something on that I wouldn't usually do, and
- 9:58Speaker 2: I went to a dance class and it was beginners
- 10:01Speaker 2: dancing in high heels. And one of my friends, Eloise Evtos,
- 10:05Speaker 2: is a comedian, extremely talented, and she's an actor and
- 10:08Speaker 2: a dancer. She and made of hers run this class periodically.
- 10:12Speaker 2: So it was me one of the mums who one
- 10:15Speaker 2: of my daughter's friends, mums who I forced to come
- 10:19Speaker 2: with me essentially, and a whole bunch of these incredibly
- 10:23Speaker 2: beautiful twenty and thirty somethings and it was beginners and
- 10:27Speaker 2: maybe some of them were beginners, but a lot of
- 10:29Speaker 2: them were absolutely not beginners. And we were absolutely beginners.
- 10:33Speaker 2: And so we're they're tottering around. I don't wear high
- 10:35Speaker 2: heels much.
- 10:36Speaker 1: No, well, this is going to ask you. So you're
- 10:38Speaker 1: talking about the twenty thirty year olds in the big stilettos,
- 10:40Speaker 1: and have you just got your little easy steps on?
- 10:43Speaker 3: Now?
- 10:44Speaker 4: I actually had that.
- 10:44Speaker 2: I've got these these vintage dance shoes that I bought
- 10:48Speaker 2: in Japan, so I wore those. So they've got a
- 10:51Speaker 2: they've got a mid heel on them. But some of
- 10:54Speaker 2: these girls, you go, my god, I don't even know
- 10:55Speaker 2: how you could stand in those.
- 10:57Speaker 1: I've just come straight off the pole.
- 10:59Speaker 4: Spent a lot, a lot of my life in high heels.
- 11:01Speaker 2: But you know, COVID, wonderful thing. Take off your high
- 11:03Speaker 2: heels and never put the fucking things on again.
- 11:05Speaker 1: So we're not talking about beginners in high heels or
- 11:07Speaker 1: beginners dancing. It's beginners dancing in high hills.
- 11:09Speaker 4: Yes, just to clarify, how interesting, how did you go?
- 11:11Speaker 1: How many stacks did you have it?
- 11:12Speaker 4: I didn't, I didn't fall down.
- 11:13Speaker 2: One switch was great, and I did Okay, I did, Okay,
- 11:17Speaker 2: you know, there's a big mirror, so you can see
- 11:19Speaker 2: if you're not doing okay at all.
- 11:21Speaker 4: But we did this Janet Jackson or for you number
- 11:23Speaker 4: and it was it was very fun.
- 11:25Speaker 2: But you know what makes me sad is that it's
- 11:27Speaker 2: like none of them appreciate that as soon as they
- 11:30Speaker 2: hit forty, they'll never have long hair again. Like this
- 11:33Speaker 2: beautiful long haird that you get when you're young, m
- 11:36Speaker 2: smiling in a superior fashion, but it's going to happen.
- 11:38Speaker 3: To you too, long hair.
- 11:42Speaker 4: But yeah, these these beautiful high ponytails, this gorgeous hair,
- 11:46Speaker 4: and it's like, at some stage in your life, you
- 11:48Speaker 4: just stop being able to grow long hair, don't you.
- 11:51Speaker 1: Oh is it a matter of stop being able to
- 11:53Speaker 1: grow it or it just doesn't suit older people, or it.
- 11:55Speaker 4: Just grows out of your chin insteady and your nipples.
- 12:02Speaker 4: You only get so much hair and it has to
- 12:05Speaker 4: be now spread across your entire body.
- 12:07Speaker 2: But I did say when my friend Lisa and I
- 12:09Speaker 2: were feeling quite nervous at the beginning standing around with
- 12:11Speaker 2: all these beautiful girls who clearly were more comfortable in
- 12:14Speaker 2: this environment than where I said, It's like, okay, Lisa,
- 12:17Speaker 2: we're the only property owners in the place.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Do you know what they would have been thinking though?
- 12:22Speaker 1: Look at these two. I hope we're doing something like
- 12:25Speaker 1: that when we're their age.
- 12:26Speaker 4: Do you think to you or do you think they
- 12:28Speaker 4: were going? Can someone's mother go home?
- 12:30Speaker 6: Now?
- 12:32Speaker 1: Our young producer Am is nodding, Yep, that's what we
- 12:34Speaker 1: would have been thinking about you.
- 12:36Speaker 3: I have to admit the thought of going to a
- 12:38Speaker 3: dance class.
- 12:39Speaker 5: I would rather pull sit at home and pull all
- 12:41Speaker 5: my pull all my hair out of various parts of
- 12:44Speaker 5: my body with toises and go to a dance dance class.
- 12:47Speaker 5: It's just not my gig so much so that when
- 12:49Speaker 5: we're in the Diamonds my last couple of years, normal
- 12:52Speaker 5: climate used to make.
- 12:53Speaker 3: Us want to learn a dance for warmer Yes, and
- 12:57Speaker 3: I just hate it.
- 12:59Speaker 5: And she knew I hate and I'm sure she laughed
- 13:01Speaker 5: at me every time she made us do it. She
- 13:02Speaker 5: got this woman into try and teach us how to
- 13:05Speaker 5: do it. And I just have never been able to dance.
- 13:07Speaker 5: And it's probably I'm too uptight.
- 13:09Speaker 3: I don't know. I just wouldn't let my shoulders get
- 13:10Speaker 3: loose enough. So how did it?
- 13:13Speaker 1: This is why you've been asked to do Dancing with
- 13:15Speaker 1: the Stars how many times? Twenty seven thousand, and obviously
- 13:20Speaker 1: we've not seen her on the screen. There's a reason
- 13:22Speaker 1: for that, is that because you don't think you're a
- 13:24Speaker 1: good dancer, because they can't find a partner tall enough
- 13:27Speaker 1: for you, because.
- 13:28Speaker 3: There's not enough alcohol in the world.
- 13:33Speaker 2: When I went to New York with a friend when
- 13:34Speaker 2: we were turning forty, and I said to her, we're
- 13:37Speaker 2: going to go. We're going to do this beginner's Broadway
- 13:39Speaker 2: jazz dance class and it was just off Times Square,
- 13:42Speaker 2: and she was incredibly nervous, but she got to choose things.
- 13:45Speaker 4: That I had to do.
- 13:47Speaker 2: She wanted us to go and have a facial so
- 13:49Speaker 2: it's okay, that's not quite as bad for me as
- 13:52Speaker 2: this is for you. But she was really nervous but said, yeah,
- 13:54Speaker 2: I'll go and do it. And we got there, went
- 13:56Speaker 2: and checked in and then I said, look, my mate's
- 13:58Speaker 2: a bit nervous. Is there a barney here? Because I
- 14:02Speaker 2: thought we'll go and have a shot of Dutch carriage
- 14:04Speaker 2: and they went, yeah, yeah, up at the end of
- 14:05Speaker 2: the hall.
- 14:06Speaker 4: So we wounded up the hall. It's like, how great
- 14:07Speaker 4: is this place? Couldn't find one? They were busy.
- 14:10Speaker 2: We went back down, says We realized later on they
- 14:12Speaker 2: meant ballet bar and we meant we meant to keealer shops.
- 14:16Speaker 2: But that class, it was it was a beginner's Broadway jazz.
- 14:21Speaker 2: But everyone else in the class was a professional dancer,
- 14:25Speaker 2: just in another field. And so that was one of
- 14:28Speaker 2: the most embarrassing hours. But you know, you're embarrassed for
- 14:32Speaker 2: a minute, and then you go, Okay, we've all established
- 14:35Speaker 2: that we don't know what we're doing, so just let's
- 14:38Speaker 2: have fun.
- 14:38Speaker 1: I'm picturing a whole message as hands.
- 14:41Speaker 4: Oh yeah, well you're fantastic. Where are you on the
- 14:44Speaker 4: dance spectrum?
- 14:46Speaker 1: Well, it depends on how many drinks I've had. I've
- 14:48Speaker 1: had a few. I'm so good.
- 14:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:50Speaker 4: Do you want to come to a class with me?
- 14:52Speaker 4: A beginner's heels dance class?
- 14:54Speaker 1: Do you know what class I would do? And I
- 14:55Speaker 1: was just thinking, this is up your Elizabeth Ellis and
- 14:58Speaker 1: now I'm avoiding it, hopefully to a sure away. Friends
- 15:01Speaker 1: of ours do on a Monday night a dance class.
- 15:03Speaker 1: But you go in, the music comes off, they turn
- 15:06Speaker 1: the lights right down so you can barely see anyone,
- 15:09Speaker 1: and then you just go nuts. And dance and have
- 15:11Speaker 1: the best time and it's a full on hour of fitness,
- 15:14Speaker 1: but you're not worrying about what people are thinking of you.
- 15:16Speaker 3: And that's good cool, because I reckon.
- 15:19Speaker 5: My aversion to dancing is based on the fact that
- 15:22Speaker 5: I was six foot tall.
- 15:24Speaker 2: I was about to say, is it because you're tall?
- 15:25Speaker 2: And you went all the other eleven year olds and
- 15:27Speaker 2: it's like, oh my god, yep, and a.
- 15:30Speaker 5: Bit uncoordinated and always like when you're a good head
- 15:34Speaker 5: tool and everyone else together school disco and it's cringey
- 15:37Speaker 5: because you stand.
- 15:37Speaker 3: Out and wow. Yeah. No, there's just there's so much
- 15:41Speaker 3: trauma to unpack around this for me. But I'm just dances.
- 15:44Speaker 5: But I'm when I have my kids, we often would
- 15:47Speaker 5: have a disco in the house and turn the music up,
- 15:49Speaker 5: and it's really good fitness and I'm happy to dance
- 15:51Speaker 5: with them and in front of them. Yeah, the thought
- 15:53Speaker 5: of dancing in a public place, it's just I mean.
- 15:56Speaker 5: And when I did Celebrity last year, Wood you talk
- 15:59Speaker 5: to me into doing this dance and he taught it
- 16:02Speaker 5: to me and we did it, and it was just
- 16:04Speaker 5: I was so far out of my comfort zone because
- 16:07Speaker 5: I just think that I just look like a goober
- 16:09Speaker 5: when I dance.
- 16:10Speaker 4: But good on you, well done.
- 16:12Speaker 1: So maybe you'll go and do the beginner's heels class
- 16:17Speaker 1: with Carolyn.
- 16:19Speaker 3: Maybe I won't.
- 16:21Speaker 1: It sounds like you're on your purtpol that's.
- 16:22Speaker 2: A know all around Okay, All right, well i'll change
- 16:29Speaker 2: the subject away from dancing. Then I think you've done
- 16:31Speaker 2: well both of you to acknowledge something that's a difficult
- 16:33Speaker 2: space for you. Or but something I saw on the
- 16:35Speaker 2: weekend that I have to talk about is extraordinary. I
- 16:38Speaker 2: went to a CrossFit competition as an observer on the
- 16:40Speaker 2: weekend down in Wollongong and they had an adaptive category,
- 16:43Speaker 2: so these are people with various disabilities. I saw a
- 16:46Speaker 2: young woman do a thirty seven and a half kilo snatch,
- 16:50Speaker 2: so that is taking the bar from the ground to
- 16:52Speaker 2: overhead in a single movement, thirty seven and a half
- 16:55Speaker 2: kilogram snatch.
- 16:56Speaker 4: She has one arm. It was extra ordinary. Yeah.
- 17:00Speaker 2: So, and this isn't a dumb bell. This is a
- 17:02Speaker 2: full on bar bell, so usually you'd have your arms
- 17:04Speaker 2: out wide to get it. But imagine not just the strength,
- 17:08Speaker 2: but the balance and the skill for her to do it.
- 17:10Speaker 3: Was her.
- 17:11Speaker 2: They did say when she was about to do it.
- 17:13Speaker 2: This would be a personal record for her, so it
- 17:15Speaker 2: was the most she had ever done. But she did twice,
- 17:17Speaker 2: thirty seven and a half kilos from the ground over
- 17:19Speaker 2: her head with one arm.
- 17:21Speaker 1: I don't reckon I'd be able to do the bar
- 17:23Speaker 1: alone with one arm, just in terms of kilo bar. Yeah,
- 17:27Speaker 1: that's right.
- 17:29Speaker 4: And her name is Emily kNs and she is my hero.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Yeah mine too.
- 17:34Speaker 3: After that, like there's weights on each other the bar, Yeah,
- 17:38Speaker 3: that would be so tippy.
- 17:40Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, So this thing's about as long as a broomstick.
- 17:42Speaker 2: And you know, so she had she had tape in
- 17:44Speaker 2: the middle where she knew she had to put her
- 17:46Speaker 2: hand and that was the dead.
- 17:47Speaker 4: Middle of it. Was like, oh my god, this is
- 17:50Speaker 4: I can't believe it.
- 17:52Speaker 1: You can't complain about anything ever, can you? When you
- 17:55Speaker 1: see people with disabilities or whatever and then go and
- 17:58Speaker 1: do stuff like that, You're just like, I can't win
- 18:00Speaker 1: about anything. Well, I've got.
- 18:02Speaker 2: About when you order now and I've tasted a caffeine
- 18:04Speaker 2: it's not coolo bucks and it's not cooked enough.
- 18:06Speaker 4: Is that okay?
- 18:07Speaker 1: If I see you, let me know what you think.
- 18:10Speaker 4: I've had a traumatic life too. My dishwasher broke during lockdown.
- 18:13Speaker 1: God lucky you gave birth to two more.
- 18:17Speaker 2: Absolutely imagine how hopeless they were. Hey, I think we've
- 18:22Speaker 2: avoided the inevitable for long enough.
- 18:27Speaker 3: Silver Fern.
- 18:28Speaker 1: It was a brilliant, brilliant game, and I said in
- 18:31Speaker 1: commentary it was the most clinical game I've ever seen
- 18:34Speaker 1: between two of the best in the world in the
- 18:36Speaker 1: first test of a series. In the first quarter it
- 18:40Speaker 1: was such high quality netball. But the Ferns in that
- 18:43Speaker 1: second quarter just turned it up a notch and they
- 18:46Speaker 1: held off Australia, came back at them a few times,
- 18:49Speaker 1: they got the score back to five, and then they
- 18:52Speaker 1: just put the foot down again and blew it out
- 18:54Speaker 1: of the water. But it was really interesting listening to
- 18:57Speaker 1: a lot of the interviews after the game and the
- 19:00Speaker 1: Fern's talking about how much soul searching they had done
- 19:04Speaker 1: in the lead up and they'd had some very uncomfortable,
- 19:07Speaker 1: very vulnerable conversations and really exposed a lot of I
- 19:12Speaker 1: don't know, the devils or the weaknesses or whatever you
- 19:16Speaker 1: want to call them within that side and had to
- 19:18Speaker 1: address them and they've come out the other end of it.
- 19:21Speaker 3: So after they lost to England, they had those sessions well.
- 19:24Speaker 1: And I think even more so after they slipped in
- 19:27Speaker 1: world ranking. So just a couple of days ago they
- 19:29Speaker 1: dropped from number two in the world to number three
- 19:31Speaker 1: in the world off the back of that England series.
- 19:33Speaker 1: So I think those two back to back they really
- 19:36Speaker 1: had to have a good hard look at themselves and
- 19:37Speaker 1: look what they produced. Who's number two?
- 19:40Speaker 4: Who's number two in the world? Now England eng went right, okay.
- 19:44Speaker 3: So impressive. And I thought that.
- 19:48Speaker 5: I watched Grace Neweki and Catherine. I know you've talked
- 19:51Speaker 5: her up and I wasn't quite sure, but I think
- 19:53Speaker 5: you might be right. She is amazing and that all
- 19:56Speaker 5: coming into her was just so good.
- 19:58Speaker 1: So that was New Zealand's score ever against Australia. Ever
- 20:03Speaker 1: did she get a half century in regular time? So
- 20:06Speaker 1: isn't that saying something?
- 20:07Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 20:07Speaker 1: And she had a half century, she had fifty of them.
- 20:09Speaker 4: Do you know who looked the happiest? Briani Akle.
- 20:14Speaker 1: For numerous reasons. Absolutely, But tell me every Swifts fans
- 20:19Speaker 1: not sitting at home with dribble coming out their mouth.
- 20:22Speaker 2: Well, for me, as someone with a New Zealand passport
- 20:24Speaker 2: and a Swift's membership, life's not too bad at the moment.
- 20:28Speaker 4: Although it was a tough game to watch.
- 20:30Speaker 3: Oh it was.
- 20:30Speaker 5: It was hard to watch, and I think we'll see
- 20:32Speaker 5: a different Diamonds performance in the next match.
- 20:35Speaker 4: But Bloody hopes so.
- 20:37Speaker 5: So I do wonder though, like Nolan and Padua is
- 20:40Speaker 5: like such a master strategist, and you know, I wonder
- 20:44Speaker 5: if she's sort of you know, finish Karaka didn't play
- 20:46Speaker 5: in at England series.
- 20:48Speaker 3: There was a few players who just seem to step
- 20:50Speaker 3: it up a notch last night.
- 20:52Speaker 5: If she just held a little bit back. Obviously you
- 20:54Speaker 5: don't want to lose to England and drop down the rankings.
- 20:56Speaker 3: But I also wonder on.
- 20:58Speaker 5: The flip side, if beating is a big prize and
- 21:02Speaker 5: you know, getting a win in the first game of
- 21:03Speaker 5: the Constellation Cup to set you up. So I'd love
- 21:06Speaker 5: to know the thinking behind Like I feel like she
- 21:09Speaker 5: plays things like a chessboard and she's looking five or
- 21:12Speaker 5: six moves ahead, So I wonder what she's thinking about
- 21:14Speaker 5: for the next few games. And yeah, i'd always I
- 21:18Speaker 5: feel with Nolin like she's you never know what she's like,
- 21:22Speaker 5: where she's plotting to or where she's thinking to.
- 21:25Speaker 1: It's all part of the bigger picture, isn't it with
- 21:26Speaker 1: this cycle?
- 21:27Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 21:27Speaker 1: It is.
- 21:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:28Speaker 5: I do wonder a little bit that with Stacy Marinkovich
- 21:31Speaker 5: as well, right, because she's been a spectacularly successful high
- 21:34Speaker 5: performance coach for the Diamonds. And you know, I watched
- 21:37Speaker 5: Courtney Bruce last night and she looked like she hadn't
- 21:40Speaker 5: played for a little while, and I thought, well, you know,
- 21:42Speaker 5: do you did Stacy just think to herself, right, I'm
- 21:46Speaker 5: going to.
- 21:46Speaker 3: Leave Courtney out there because she needs the game time
- 21:48Speaker 3: under a belt.
- 21:49Speaker 5: And I know she'll get better because you know, she's
- 21:51Speaker 5: a senior player, she's a champion player.
- 21:53Speaker 3: So yeah, I just would love to know at the
- 21:55Speaker 3: end of it, sit down with the coaches and go,
- 21:56Speaker 3: what were you thinking here? What were you thinking there?
- 21:58Speaker 3: What's what's doing? What else are you thinking about? Because
- 22:00Speaker 3: you know they're not just thinking about the game as
- 22:02Speaker 3: much as you want to win it. They're both thinking
- 22:04Speaker 3: about different things down the track.
- 22:06Speaker 2: What do you think makes a strategic coach like that?
- 22:09Speaker 2: So I should know the answer to this. Have Dame
- 22:11Speaker 2: Nolen or Stacey w Do they players at a high level?
- 22:14Speaker 1: Either of them?
- 22:16Speaker 4: And is that necessary both.
- 22:18Speaker 3: Of them played?
- 22:19Speaker 5: I played against Nolen Tutor in the nineteen ninety five
- 22:23Speaker 5: World Cup, which is playing for New Zealand just got
- 22:26Speaker 5: attack and Stacy Marienkovic played in the mid court, and yeah,
- 22:31Speaker 5: I think, look, I don't know that you have to
- 22:33Speaker 5: have played.
- 22:34Speaker 3: I think you just have to be able to understand.
- 22:35Speaker 3: It's about understanding your players, being really clear.
- 22:38Speaker 5: About what your objectives are and hey, you're going to
- 22:40Speaker 5: achieve them, and understanding what small battles you're willing to
- 22:45Speaker 5: lose to win the bigger battle later on, you know,
- 22:49Speaker 5: And that's a that's a decision that really the only
- 22:53Speaker 5: coach and her staff can make because they know how
- 22:56Speaker 5: things are waited and they know what they're trying to achieve.
- 22:58Speaker 5: So in every game, like little things that they're trying
- 23:01Speaker 5: to achieve that might not be reflected on the scoreboard,
- 23:03Speaker 5: but it serves a purpose further.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Down the track and even in the personnel though prior
- 23:07Speaker 1: to the game happening. So Noline Tailua is super tough
- 23:10Speaker 1: on fitness standards and she will flat out not pick
- 23:14Speaker 1: you in aside if you don't get the standards that
- 23:16Speaker 1: she wants. So there's players that aren't in that squad.
- 23:18Speaker 1: They've only got thirteen, which is really interesting. Australia's got
- 23:22Speaker 1: fifteen in their squad that they're chopping and changing for
- 23:25Speaker 1: each test. She's only picked thirteen because there's been some injuries, yes,
- 23:28Speaker 1: but she's also her standards are so high and she
- 23:32Speaker 1: will not cave on them, which is really interesting. But
- 23:35Speaker 1: I think what we're seeing is a fitter New Zealand side.
- 23:38Speaker 1: They were so fit. Echanazio is the fittest I've ever
- 23:41Speaker 1: seen her. She ran that game out last night, getting
- 23:44Speaker 1: smashed by every defender any opportunity they had that when
- 23:49Speaker 1: she was anywhere near them, so she was outstanding. But
- 23:52Speaker 1: I think we saw a much fitter New Zealand Silver
- 23:54Speaker 1: fans and we've seen in the past couple of years.
- 23:57Speaker 5: I think that's interesting and I reckon Nolene's sort of
- 24:00Speaker 5: really adopted that approach after she coached Lightning and she
- 24:03Speaker 5: saw the fitness levels of the Diamonds players and she
- 24:06Speaker 5: went back to news and she was like, no, these
- 24:08Speaker 5: are the non negotiables and good.
- 24:10Speaker 3: She's now got a team who who can run a
- 24:13Speaker 3: game out.
- 24:13Speaker 5: And when the Diamonds came at them and got back
- 24:15Speaker 5: to within five, I thought, oh, oh, here we go
- 24:18Speaker 5: and they just you know that not only their physical
- 24:20Speaker 5: stamina but their mental stamina was good enough to just
- 24:23Speaker 5: withstand the charge and kick away again.
- 24:25Speaker 3: It was impressive, it was versed. Yeah, like I feel
- 24:29Speaker 3: like there's a better Diamonds performance coming.
- 24:31Speaker 1: Oh big time.
- 24:32Speaker 4: Well, look, I would hope.
- 24:33Speaker 2: So my season of tipping is over almost before it started.
- 24:37Speaker 2: So last week, without notice and without me having done
- 24:40Speaker 2: any research, you asked me to pick the season. I
- 24:42Speaker 2: said four nill to the Diamonds. So once again, it's good.
- 24:45Speaker 2: I'm back in form, obviously reliable. Whatever I tip will
- 24:50Speaker 2: be incorrect. You guys tipped three to one to the Diamonds,
- 24:52Speaker 2: so you could still be correct. But we could see
- 24:56Speaker 2: two all we could see.
- 24:58Speaker 4: The test being tied at full time in the fourth game.
- 25:01Speaker 1: God, I hope.
- 25:02Speaker 4: So yeah, how good would it be? It's really interesting
- 25:05Speaker 4: this new decider rule, isn't it.
- 25:07Speaker 1: Yeah? I'm so excited about this because it is a
- 25:10Speaker 1: massive anti climax. If you don't have a result after
- 25:14Speaker 1: the four test and you've got well, suddenly we're counting goals.
- 25:16Speaker 4: You might as well watch soccer.
- 25:18Speaker 3: Really.
- 25:18Speaker 1: Yeah, although their penalty shootouts pretty good, isn't it?
- 25:21Speaker 3: So can you please talk us through how we get
- 25:23Speaker 3: a result?
- 25:24Speaker 1: Yes, I will do so. At the end of the
- 25:26Speaker 1: Fourth Test, if it's two wins a piece, they effectively
- 25:31Speaker 1: play a brand new game straight away, So they have
- 25:36Speaker 1: twelve minutes. I think that they will go to the
- 25:39Speaker 1: benches and have a chill. They will toss a coin
- 25:42Speaker 1: again to determine who will start the center pass. The
- 25:44Speaker 1: scores go back to zero all, and then it's two
- 25:47Speaker 1: seven minute halves that will play out, and whoever wins
- 25:51Speaker 1: that shortened game wins the Constellation Cup. If it is
- 25:54Speaker 1: still drawn at the end of those seven minutes and
- 25:56Speaker 1: it goes to double extra time, which is the first
- 25:58Speaker 1: team up by two, there will be a result. But
- 26:01Speaker 1: it made me start to think about the selection of
- 26:04Speaker 1: the team for the Fourth Test. There's going to be
- 26:07Speaker 1: a lot more thought put into that now. I think regardless,
- 26:10Speaker 1: they're going to have their strongest benches that they can have,
- 26:13Speaker 1: because if they've got to play that extra fourteen minutes,
- 26:16Speaker 1: if you've got a chance to put some experience on
- 26:18Speaker 1: that's got fresh legs, then you would. So that'll be
- 26:22Speaker 1: really interesting if it gets to that point, how these
- 26:24Speaker 1: coaches go about navigating.
- 26:25Speaker 2: Them just every game of the season will also have
- 26:27Speaker 2: a result. There won't be a draw win the season,
- 26:30Speaker 2: so we'll get to the Force the end of the
- 26:32Speaker 2: Force game and possibly go into that Ooh.
- 26:34Speaker 1: Let's say so.
- 26:37Speaker 5: Interesting, right, this hasn't been done before. No, it's really cool,
- 26:41Speaker 5: so it'll be really interesting if it happens. And then
- 26:43Speaker 5: there's a strategic piece, right, as Catherine sort of alluded
- 26:46Speaker 5: to them choosing your bench.
- 26:48Speaker 3: Do you choose an experience.
- 26:49Speaker 5: Bench that you know, if you need to in that moment,
- 26:51Speaker 5: you can run them on and they've been there and
- 26:54Speaker 5: seen it before and they do the job. Or do
- 26:56Speaker 5: you choose young players and go, well, this is like
- 26:58Speaker 5: a mini World Cup, right, so you're an extra time.
- 27:00Speaker 5: You're playing for a Constellation Cup. It's not the World Cup.
- 27:03Speaker 5: So if we don't win, it's not the end of
- 27:06Speaker 5: the four year cycle that is in disaster. But I
- 27:09Speaker 5: don't know, like it's a really there's a couple of different.
- 27:12Speaker 3: Ways you can approach it. So I'm really I'm looking.
- 27:14Speaker 5: Forward to seeing what back these coaches do, because you
- 27:17Speaker 5: know they're both they're both really hard to read, but
- 27:20Speaker 5: they're both so good at their job.
- 27:22Speaker 2: It's exciting isn't it. That is one thing that I
- 27:25Speaker 2: thought at the end of the game last night. A
- 27:26Speaker 2: little bit disappointed in the result, obviously, but it's like, man,
- 27:28Speaker 2: we got a real series on our hands, and I
- 27:31Speaker 2: didn't think we were going to. After the Roses defeated
- 27:34Speaker 2: the Silver Fans in New Zealand, I thought, don't want
- 27:36Speaker 2: this will be.
- 27:36Speaker 4: A bit of a bit of a dead rubber But
- 27:38Speaker 4: I do like that there.
- 27:39Speaker 2: I originally thought you should have an odd number of games,
- 27:41Speaker 2: I should play a fifth game, but I actually preferred
- 27:43Speaker 2: this system to playing a dead Rubber fifth but potentially
- 27:46Speaker 2: dead Rubber fifth game.
- 27:48Speaker 4: You know that you may not get the crowds for
- 27:50Speaker 4: or whatever. This is exciting.
- 27:51Speaker 1: Yeah, world under ne Fall though, for really on the
- 27:54Speaker 1: fly making some changes that I think we're really required
- 27:57Speaker 1: and the fans were crying for.
- 27:58Speaker 4: I wonder if Melbourne's sold out, God, that have.
- 28:02Speaker 1: To be close. I think Perth will be very close,
- 28:04Speaker 1: if not already sold out. Don't know the numbers on
- 28:06Speaker 1: those yet, but yeah, but this.
- 28:08Speaker 2: Would certainly if Melbourne wasn't sold out, I would imagine
- 28:10Speaker 2: would certainly encourage some people to go, oh, I'm going
- 28:13Speaker 2: to buy tickets now and get on it, Victoria, Well
- 28:17Speaker 2: you'll lose it. We'll send it to Queensland now we
- 28:19Speaker 2: want they're ready, they want one anyway.
- 28:24Speaker 4: That was exciting.
- 28:25Speaker 2: But you guys are no strangers to playing extra overtime,
- 28:30Speaker 2: sudden death blah blah.
- 28:35Speaker 1: You should go into contract.
- 28:37Speaker 4: I know, how good would I be?
- 28:38Speaker 5: Right?
- 28:39Speaker 3: What?
- 28:40Speaker 5: Thank heavens, you don't have a job that needs you
- 28:42Speaker 5: to use words from coming out of your mouth apparently,
- 28:46Speaker 5: you know what. My introduction to playing double overtime was
- 28:48Speaker 5: in the nineteen ninety eight No.
- 28:50Speaker 3: Two thousand and two Commonwealth Games, So I was Manchester
- 28:53Speaker 3: twenty nine.
- 28:54Speaker 5: It was in Manchester. The first time I'd ever played
- 28:56Speaker 5: double overtime was in that game. And like we used
- 29:01Speaker 5: to pride ourselves and Jill McIntosh as a coach, you know,
- 29:03Speaker 5: we think if we're talking before about you know, what
- 29:05Speaker 5: we do if the lights went out in the stadium
- 29:08Speaker 5: and what we do if this happens, all that happens,
- 29:10Speaker 5: But we never actually thought about what do we do
- 29:12Speaker 5: if we get to double overtime in a final? Because
- 29:15Speaker 5: what we learned through that time was that there's there's
- 29:19Speaker 5: nothing that tells you you're going into double overtime right,
- 29:22Speaker 5: So you finish the end of the game and you
- 29:24Speaker 5: know you're even, and so you know, okay, this is overtime,
- 29:29Speaker 5: and you know you've got to play for two seven
- 29:30Speaker 5: minute halves or whatever it was at the time, and
- 29:33Speaker 5: then at the end of that, if it's even, the
- 29:36Speaker 5: game just keeps going.
- 29:37Speaker 3: There's nothing to say, you're into double overtime.
- 29:43Speaker 1: Well there wasn't then, and this is why they've changed it.
- 29:47Speaker 1: So what happened was there never a game prior to
- 29:49Speaker 1: that that went to double overtime.
- 29:52Speaker 3: Not in a not that I ever played it.
- 29:54Speaker 5: No, I don't know however, really it must have happened
- 29:57Speaker 5: somewhere obviously, but there was It had never been in
- 30:00Speaker 5: a game that I that any of us had ever
- 30:02Speaker 5: played in. So we got to the end of the
- 30:04Speaker 5: second seven minutes in that and Coxy shot a goal
- 30:07Speaker 5: that I thought won it for us, but the girl
- 30:10Speaker 5: went through literally one second after overtime had finished.
- 30:14Speaker 3: So it went through, and I'm like, why are we
- 30:17Speaker 3: still playing?
- 30:18Speaker 5: And the umpires had a good time because the umpires
- 30:20Speaker 5: had been told that it was we've gone into double overtime.
- 30:25Speaker 5: But there was nothing in the stadium, and the only
- 30:27Speaker 5: thing that alerted you to the fact was a little
- 30:29Speaker 5: flag got put up or dropped or something on.
- 30:32Speaker 1: The but nobody told us about this little flag, so
- 30:35Speaker 1: we didn't know what was going on.
- 30:37Speaker 3: We didn't know on the court.
- 30:38Speaker 5: But the girls on the bench started to twig and
- 30:39Speaker 5: I kept looking over and they're holding two fingers up.
- 30:49Speaker 3: And they were holding their fingers up.
- 30:50Speaker 5: And it took me so long to figure it out,
- 30:54Speaker 5: and everyone else was playing, we need a goal ca caller,
- 30:56Speaker 5: the goal should got time to stand over and go,
- 30:57Speaker 5: what are you talking about to the bench, and then.
- 30:59Speaker 3: I realized I was saying, we're in overtime. We had
- 31:02Speaker 3: to win by two.
- 31:02Speaker 5: And it was Alison Broadbent that was like screaming at
- 31:06Speaker 5: us from the sideline to tell us we had that,
- 31:08Speaker 5: and it took us a little while and then I
- 31:09Speaker 5: was like, oh, and I told Harbs and she told
- 31:12Speaker 5: Peter and Peter Squire and so we all we so
- 31:14Speaker 5: I had to relay it down the corn.
- 31:16Speaker 3: We had to win by two.
- 31:18Speaker 1: So it was it was a dog's breakfast, it was.
- 31:22Speaker 3: It was.
- 31:22Speaker 5: It was so I mean, the end of the game
- 31:24Speaker 5: was unbelievable because we won and it was really exciting,
- 31:27Speaker 5: but it was such like it was. It was so
- 31:31Speaker 5: difficult to understand what was going on, and when you
- 31:33Speaker 5: listen to the commentary, they don't. No one had really
- 31:36Speaker 5: told them what was going on either, so they're really bewildered.
- 31:39Speaker 2: So when we got so my blah blah could absolutely
- 31:43Speaker 2: have cut the musket comment that particular mode.
- 31:46Speaker 1: Because I think I can't remember the man's name that
- 31:48Speaker 1: was commentating at the time, but he's like, I don't
- 31:50Speaker 1: know what's going on with the scoreboard. It's going the
- 31:53Speaker 1: wrong way, and he's like, what's going on? Everyone's looking around.
- 31:56Speaker 1: This is how he's commentating. So everybody watching at home
- 31:59Speaker 1: would have been the same thing, kind of like, what
- 32:01Speaker 1: is what is happening? We didn't know what was going on.
- 32:04Speaker 4: Who were you playing New Zealand?
- 32:05Speaker 3: Right, yeah, Zealand.
- 32:07Speaker 5: But so as a result when we did when I
- 32:11Speaker 5: commentated the twenty ten Color Walk Games, I'm sorry to
- 32:15Speaker 5: talk about the war, Catherine, but when we commentated that,
- 32:18Speaker 5: Luke Darcy and I sat down the night before and
- 32:21Speaker 5: spent an hour going over what would happen if it
- 32:24Speaker 5: got to overtime and double overtime, and he thought, he
- 32:27Speaker 5: was like, what do you want to do this for
- 32:29Speaker 5: un I'm like, mate, we just need to know exactly
- 32:31Speaker 5: what's going on, identified what we had to keep our
- 32:34Speaker 5: eye on, what we had to do, and sure enough
- 32:36Speaker 5: it went into double overtime.
- 32:37Speaker 3: It was just it was just amazing.
- 32:43Speaker 2: We're at risk of going into double overtime here on
- 32:45Speaker 2: this episode and we haven't done some of the important
- 32:47Speaker 2: things we need to The most important thing is obviously
- 32:49Speaker 2: win beneath that wings. I think we should acknowledge that
- 32:51Speaker 2: in all of our sadness about the Diamonds, we didn't
- 32:54Speaker 2: talk about the Kelpies having a good win.
- 32:55Speaker 1: So congratulation a good win fifty goals the margin skycar.
- 33:01Speaker 2: Yeah, they did a grace and Aweki. But one of
- 33:06Speaker 2: the most important things that we do each week is
- 33:09Speaker 2: our win beneath our wings. And this is where you
- 33:11Speaker 2: Dribblers nominate those people who keep our game alive at
- 33:14Speaker 2: the community level. Now, there was a call to arms
- 33:17Speaker 2: and we have had a couple of nominations come in,
- 33:19Speaker 2: which is wonderful. So we do have nomination for this week,
- 33:22Speaker 2: but you need to keep them coming. We know, we
- 33:25Speaker 2: know there are wonderful people out there doing lots of
- 33:28Speaker 2: work to keep the game alive. So Please do make
- 33:30Speaker 2: your nominations. Voice notes are best, Please keep them under
- 33:33Speaker 2: sixty seconds. There's plenty of ways you can contact us.
- 33:36Speaker 2: Join the Facebook group, invite your friends to join the
- 33:38Speaker 2: Facebook group. Please share this podcast with your friends. But Kath,
- 33:43Speaker 2: I think we have a very interesting win beneath our
- 33:46Speaker 2: wings nomination this week, which is tensey bit problematic for me.
- 33:51Speaker 1: It is, which is why I love it so much.
- 33:55Speaker 1: Because it's from a long, long way away. So Carolyn's
- 33:59Speaker 1: going to have to doodle down to the post office.
- 34:02Speaker 1: Fine expensive step, probably one with the Queen. Oh wait,
- 34:06Speaker 1: that would be awkward. Maybe the King.
- 34:08Speaker 4: I think she's still in circulation.
- 34:11Speaker 1: I don't know, okay, but anyway, it's a step to Engleland, England,
- 34:17Speaker 1: and to the North of England too.
- 34:19Speaker 4: I think Liverpool.
- 34:21Speaker 6: Hi, this is a lion carling from Liverpool in the UK.
- 34:25Speaker 6: Possibly the first international win beneath my wings. I'd like
- 34:29Speaker 6: to nominate the captain and general overall person in charge
- 34:31Speaker 6: of Hawk's netball club in Liverpool, Emma Deneen. I joined
- 34:35Speaker 6: Hawks three years ago after ten years at another club
- 34:38Speaker 6: in London and the entire team has been the most
- 34:40Speaker 6: welcoming and friendly group of women I could have asked for.
- 34:43Speaker 6: Emma spearheads the team and he's always up for attending
- 34:46Speaker 6: live netball, watching Netbowl, listening to netball podcasts including Not
- 34:50Speaker 6: a Dribble, of course, and talking all things netball. She
- 34:54Speaker 6: organizes the team up, brings all the kit galvanizers every
- 34:57Speaker 6: week of training and matches, runs all the admin and
- 35:00Speaker 6: it's generally just the beating heart of Hawk's netball club.
- 35:03Speaker 6: And she's an awesome wing attack to boot as well
- 35:05Speaker 6: as stepping into most other positions when needed. Are worthy
- 35:09Speaker 6: first international when beneath my wings.
- 35:12Speaker 2: Well, Elaine, that is terrific and we would agree that
- 35:16Speaker 2: Emma is doing a terrific job, albeit a very very
- 35:19Speaker 2: long way away. But netball doesn't just exist in one country,
- 35:22Speaker 2: as we've learnt somewhat dramatically in recent days with the
- 35:26Speaker 2: Test series. So Emma, you are the wind beneath our wings,
- 35:30Speaker 2: and thank you Elaine for nominating her.
- 35:33Speaker 4: All the way from Liverpool.
- 35:35Speaker 2: I do a liverpoodleyan accent, except I can't, so I'm
- 35:38Speaker 2: going to go to our resident accent person, Katherine Conx
- 35:42Speaker 2: to do her.
- 35:45Speaker 4: John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
- 35:47Speaker 1: Well, it's the Queen just always comes to mind. Darling.
- 35:51Speaker 1: You know that's not the queen either, that's missus doutfile.
- 35:57Speaker 4: And in no way is that Liverpoodlian.
- 35:59Speaker 2: But anyway, we'll leave to Elaine, thank you so much
- 36:01Speaker 2: for the nomination, and Emma, at some stage a scrunchy
- 36:07Speaker 2: will make its way to you and we would love
- 36:09Speaker 2: to see it in.
- 36:11Speaker 4: Use over in Liverpool. We maybe won't ask for that
- 36:16Speaker 4: accent again.
- 36:17Speaker 3: Catch to Liverpool, talk like that and see how long
- 36:20Speaker 3: she lasted.
- 36:22Speaker 4: And you just did it.
- 36:23Speaker 2: I think a man Cunion accent there. So yeah, we're
- 36:27Speaker 2: getting there. We're circling, We're circling. So please, dribblers, do
- 36:32Speaker 2: keep sending in your nominations. I don't like going to
- 36:37Speaker 2: the post office, but I will do it for you
- 36:39Speaker 2: because you are worth it. And if I could just
- 36:42Speaker 2: finally before we go, I did a really interesting podcast
- 36:44Speaker 2: this week with Lizzie who a comedian, and it's called
- 36:46Speaker 2: Situations and it's just been released with DM Podcasts, who
- 36:49Speaker 2: we make this podcast through. So that's a lot of fun.
- 36:52Speaker 2: Jump on board if you would like to listen to
- 36:54Speaker 2: that one. But that's all we've got time for. This
- 36:57Speaker 2: has been No Dribble, episode twenty five wowsers.
- 37:02Speaker 1: It's very hot in this room. I need to exit.
- 37:04Speaker 1: I'm actually sweating.
- 37:05Speaker 4: I'm not butt sweat, all right, Well, why don't you
- 37:06Speaker 4: say tell us your name and say goodbye.
- 37:08Speaker 1: It's Catherine Cox and I butt sweat and up there
- 37:12Speaker 1: on the breezy far.
- 37:13Speaker 4: North Coast.
- 37:16Speaker 3: And I've got nothing to add.
- 37:19Speaker 2: And I'm Carolyn Swindell and we will see you all
- 37:21Speaker 2: next week. Have a great week, Dribblers, go to the Diamonds.
- 37:24Speaker 3: Yeah, please go Diamonds.
