- 0:00Welcome to the Daily Audio Torah. Today is July 30th.
- 0:05Now let's continue our journey reading through the entire Bible in one
- 0:09year. This week we are reading from the Israel Bible for the Old
- 0:13Testament and from the King James for the New Testament.
- 0:19Numbers 34:1-29.
- 0:25Hashem spoke to Moses
- 0:28saying, Instruct Bnei Israel and
- 0:32say to them, when you enter the Land of Canaan, this is the land that
- 0:36shall fall to you as your portion: the Land of Canaan with
- 0:39its various boundaries. Your southern sector shall extend from the Wilderness
- 0:44of Zin alongside Edom. Your southern boundary shall
- 0:48start on the east from the tip of the Dead Sea. Your boundary
- 0:52shall then turn to pass south of the Ascent of Akrabbim and
- 0:56continue to Zin, and its limit shall be south of Kadesh-barnea,
- 0:59reaching Hazar-adar and continuing to Asmon.
- 1:04From Asmon the boundary shall turn from the Wadi of
- 1:07Egypt and terminate at the sea. For the western boundary
- 1:11you shall have the coast of the Great Sea. That shall serve
- 1:16as your western boundary. This shall be your northern boundary: draw
- 1:19a line from the Great Sea to Mount Hor. From Mount
- 1:23Hor draw a line to Lebo Hamath and let the boundary reach
- 1:27Zedad. The boundary shall then run to Ziphron and
- 1:31terminate at Hazar Enan. That shall be your northern
- 1:35boundary. For your eastern boundary, you shall draw a line from Hazar-enan
- 1:40to Shechem. From Shechem, the boundary shall descend
- 1:43to Riblah on the east side of Ayan. From there, the boundary
- 1:47shall continue downward and abut on the eastern
- 1:51slopes of the Sea of Chinnereth. The boundary
- 1:54shall then descend along the Jordan and terminate at the
- 1:58Dead Sea. That shall be your land as defined
- 2:01by its boundaries on all sides.
- 2:06Moses instructed the Israelites, saying, This is the land you are to receive
- 2:10by lot as your hereditary portion,
- 2:14which Hashem has commanded to be given to the 9 and a half tribes.
- 2:19For the Reubenite tribe by its ancestral houses, the Gadite
- 2:23tribe by its ancestral houses, and the half-tribe of Manasseh
- 2:26have already received their portions. Those 2½
- 2:30tribes have received their portions across the Jordan,
- 2:34opposite Jericho on the east, the Orient side.
- 2:38Hashem spoke to Moses saying, These are the names
- 2:42of the men through whom the land shall be apportioned for you: Eleazar
- 2:46the Kohen and Joshua son of Nun.
- 2:50And you shall take also a chieftain from each tribe through whom the
- 2:54land shall be apportioned. These are the names of the men from
- 2:57the tribe of Judah: Caleb son of Jephunneh.
- 3:01From the Simeon tribe: Shmuel son of
- 3:04Ammihud. From the tribe of Benjamin: Elidad
- 3:08son of Chislon. From the Dan tribe: a
- 3:11chieftain, Bukkai son of Jogli.
- 3:15For the descendants of Joseph: from the Manasseh tribe,
- 3:19a chieftain, Thaniel son of Ephod. And from
- 3:23the Ephraim tribe, a chieftain, Kemuel son
- 3:27of Shiptan. From the Zebulun tribe, a chieftain,
- 3:31Elizaphan son of Parnach. From the Issachar
- 3:34tribe, a chieftain, Paltiel son of Azzan.
- 3:38From the Asher tribe, a chieftain, Ahihud son of
- 3:42Shlomi. From the Naphtali tribe, a chieftain,
- 3:46Pedahel son of Ammihud.
- 3:51It was these whom Hashem designated to allot portions
- 3:54to the Israelites in the land of Canaan.
- 4:032 Chronicles 26:1-28:27.
- 4:10Then all the people of Judah took Uzziah,
- 4:14who was 16 years old, and proclaimed him king
- 4:17to succeed his father Amaziah. It was he who rebuilt
- 4:22Elath and restored it to Judah after King Amaziah slept with
- 4:26his fathers. Uzziah was 16 years old when he became
- 4:30king, and he reigned 52 years in Jerusalem.
- 4:34His mother's name was Jecoliah of Jerusalem.
- 4:37He did what was pleasing to Hashem, just as his father
- 4:41Amaziah had done. He applied himself to the worship of
- 4:45Hashem during the time of Zechariah, instructor in the visions
- 4:49of Hashem. During the time he worshipped Hashem,
- 4:52Hashem made him prosper. He went forth to fight
- 4:56the Philistines and breached the wall of Gath and the wall of Jabneh and
- 5:00the wall of Ashdod. He built towns in the region of
- 5:04Ashdod and among the Philistines. Hashem helped
- 5:08him against the Philistines. Against the Arabs who lived in Ger-baal and
- 5:12the Menuites. The Ammonites paid tribute to Uzziah,
- 5:16and his fame spread to the approaches of Egypt,
- 5:19where he grew exceedingly strong.
- 5:22Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem on the Corner Gate and the
- 5:26Valley Gate and on the Angle, and fortified them. He built
- 5:31towers in the wilderness and hewed out many cisterns,
- 5:34for he had much cattle and farmers in the foothills and on
- 5:38the plain. And vinedressers in the mountains and on the fertile lands,
- 5:42for he loved the soil. Uzziah had
- 5:45an army of warriors, a battle-ready force who were mustered by
- 5:49Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the adjutant under
- 5:54Hananiah, one of the king's officers. The clan chiefs'
- 5:57valiants totaled 2,600.
- 6:01Under them was the trained army of 307,500 who
- 6:05made war with might and power to aid the king against
- 6:10the enemy. Uzziah provided
- 6:14them, the whole army, with shields and spears and helmets and mail and
- 6:18bows and slingstones. He made clever devices in Jerusalem,
- 6:22set on the towers and the corners, for shooting arrows and large stones.
- 6:27His fame spread far, for he was helped wonderfully, and he became strong.
- 6:32When he was strong, he grew so arrogant he acted corruptly.
- 6:36He trespassed against his God by entering the Temple of
- 6:40Hashem to offer incense on the incense altar.
- 6:44The Kohen Azariah, with 80 other brave Kohanim
- 6:48of Hashem, followed him in, and confronting King Uzziah,
- 6:52said to him, It is not for you, Uzziah, to offer
- 6:55incense to Hashem, but for the Aaron Kohanim who have
- 6:59been consecrated to offer incense. Get out of the sanctuary,
- 7:03for you have trespassed. There will be no glory in it for
- 7:08you from Hashem. Uzziah, holding the censer and
- 7:11ready to burn incense, got angry. But as he got angry
- 7:15with the kohanim, leprosy broke out on his forehead in the front
- 7:19of the kohanim, in the house of Hashem, before the incense altar.
- 7:24When the chief kohen, Azariah, and all the other kohanim looked
- 7:28at him, His forehead was leprous, so they rushed him out of
- 7:32there. He too made haste to get out, for Hashem
- 7:37had struck him with a plague. King Uzziah
- 7:42was a leper until the day of his death. He lived in isolated
- 7:46quarters as a leper, where he was cut off from the House of Hashem,
- 7:50while Jotham his son was in charge of the king's house and governed the
- 7:54people of the land. The other events of Uzziah's reign,
- 7:58early and late, were recorded by the Navi Yeshayahu
- 8:03son of Amoz. Uzziah slept with his fathers
- 8:06in the burial field of the kings because, they said, he was
- 8:10a leper. His son Jotham succeeded him as
- 8:14king. Jotham was 25
- 8:18years old when he became king, and he reigned 16 years in Jerusalem.
- 8:22His mother's name was Jerusha daughter of Zadok.
- 8:27He did what was pleasing to Hashem,
- 8:29just as his father Uzziah had done,
- 8:33but he did not enter the Temple of Hashem.
- 8:36However, the people still acted corruptly.
- 8:40It was he who built the upper gate of the House of Hashem.
- 8:44He also built extensively on the Wall of Ophel.
- 8:48He built towns in the hill country of Judah,
- 8:51and in the woods he built fortresses and towers.
- 8:55Moreover, he fought with the king of the Ammonites and overcame them.
- 8:59The Ammonites gave him that year 100 kikkarim of silver and
- 9:0410,000 kor of wheat and another 10,000 of barley.
- 9:08That is what the Ammonites paid him, and likewise in the 2nd
- 9:12and 3rd years. Jotham was strong because he maintained a faithful
- 9:16course before Hashem his God.
- 9:21The other events of Jotham's reign and all his battles and his
- 9:25conduct are recorded in the Book of the Kings
- 9:28of Israel and Judah. He was 25 years old when
- 9:32he became king, and he reigned 16 years in Jerusalem.
- 9:37Jotham slept with his fathers and was buried in the City
- 9:41of David, His son Ahaz succeeded him as king.
- 9:47Ahaz was 20 years old when he became king, and he reigned 16
- 9:52years in Jerusalem. He did not do what
- 9:56was pleasing to Hashem, as his father David had done,
- 9:59but followed the ways of the kings of Israel.
- 10:03He even made molten images for the Baals.
- 10:06He made offerings in the Valley of Ben-Hinnom and burned his sons
- 10:10in fire. In the abhorrent fashion of the nations
- 10:13which Hashem had dispossessed before the Israelites.
- 10:18He sacrificed and made offerings at the shrines,
- 10:21on the hills, and under every leafy tree. Hashem his
- 10:25God delivered him over to the king of Aram,
- 10:27who defeated him and took many of his men captive and
- 10:31brought them to Damascus. He was also delivered
- 10:35over to the king of Israel, who inflicted a great defeat on him.
- 10:39Pekah son of Remaliah killed 120,000
- 10:43in Judah, all brave men, in one day because
- 10:47they had forsaken God of their fathers.
- 10:50Zicri the champion of Ephraim killed Maaseiah
- 10:54the king's son and Azrikam chief of the palace and
- 10:57Elkanah the second to the king. The Israelites captured
- 11:02200 of their kinsmen, women, boys, and girls.
- 11:06They also took a large amount of booty from them and brought
- 11:10the booty to Samaria. A Navi of Hashem by
- 11:13the name of Oded was there, who went out to meet the army
- 11:16on its return to Shomron. He said to them,
- 11:20Because of the fury of God of your fathers against
- 11:24Yehuda, He delivered them over to you and you killed them in a rage that
- 11:28reached heaven. Do you now intend to subjugate the
- 11:32men and women of Judah and Jerusalem to be your slaves? As it
- 11:36is, you have nothing but offenses against
- 11:40Hashem your God. Now then, listen to me and send back the
- 11:44captives you have taken from your kinsmen, for the wrath of Hashem
- 11:48is upon you. Some of the chief men of the Ephraimites—
- 11:53Azariah son of Jehokanan, Bereiah son of Meshillemoth,
- 11:59Jehikiah son of Shallum, and Amasa— Saddub
- 12:03Hadlay confronted those returning from the campaign and
- 12:07said to them, do not bring these captives here,
- 12:10for it would mean our offending Hashem, adding to our sins
- 12:14and our offenses. For our offense is grave enough,
- 12:18and there is already wrath upon Israel.
- 12:22So the soldiers released the captives and the booty in the
- 12:26presence of the officers and all the congregation. Then the men
- 12:29named above proceeded to take the captives in hand,
- 12:33and with the booty they clothed all the naked among them. They clothed
- 12:38them and shod them and gave them to eat and drink and anointed them and
- 12:41provided donkeys for all who were failing, and brought them
- 12:45to Jericho, the City of Palms, back to their kinsmen.
- 12:49Then they returned to Shamron.
- 12:52At that time King Ahaz sent to the king of Assyria
- 12:56for help. Again, the Edomites came and inflicted a
- 13:00defeat on Judah and took captives.
- 13:03And the Philistines made forays against the cities of Shephelah
- 13:08and the Negev of Yehuda. They seized Beth-shemesh and
- 13:12Aijalon and Gedera and Socoh with its
- 13:15villages and Timnah with its villages and
- 13:19Gizmo with its villages, and they settled there.
- 13:22Thus Hashem brought Judah low on account of King Ahaz
- 13:26of Israel, for he threw off restraint in Judah
- 13:30and trespassed against Hashem.
- 13:33Tiglath-Pileser, king of Assyria,
- 13:36marched against him and gave him trouble instead of supporting
- 13:40him. For Ahaz plundered the house of Hashem and
- 13:44the house of the king and the officers and made a gift to the
- 13:47king of Assyria. To no avail. In his time
- 13:51of trouble, this King Ahaz trespassed even more
- 13:55against Hashem, sacrificing to the gods of
- 13:58Damascus which had defeated him. For he thought,
- 14:02the gods of the kings of Aram helped them. I shall
- 14:06sacrifice to them and they will help me. But they were his ruin and
- 14:10that of all Israel. Ahaz collected the utensils
- 14:14of the House of Hashem and cut the utensils of the House
- 14:18of Hashem to pieces. He shut the doors of the House of Hashem
- 14:22and made himself altars in every corner of Jerusalem.
- 14:26In every town in Judah he set up shrines to make offerings to
- 14:30other gods, vexing God of his fathers.
- 14:34The other events of his reign and all his conduct, early and
- 14:38late, are recorded in the Book of the Kings of Judah and Israel.
- 14:42Ahaz slept with his fathers and was buried in the city,
- 14:46in Jerusalem. His body was not brought to the tombs
- 14:50of the kings of Israel. His son Hezekiah
- 14:54succeeded him as king.
- 15:02Romans 13:1-14.
- 15:13Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers.
- 15:17For there is no power but of God: the powers that be
- 15:21are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resists the power
- 15:25resists the ordinance of God: and they that resist
- 15:29shall receive to themselves damnation. For rulers
- 15:32are not a terror to good works: but to the evil.
- 15:36Will you then not be afraid of the power? Do that
- 15:39which is good, and you shall have praise of the same. For he
- 15:43is the minister of God to you for good. But if you do that
- 15:47which is evil, be afraid, for he bears not the sword in vain.
- 15:52For he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute
- 15:55wrath upon him that does evil. Therefore you must needs be
- 16:00subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience'
- 16:04sake. For this cause you pay tribute also,
- 16:08for they are God's ministers attending continually upon this
- 16:12very thing. Render therefore to all their dues: tribute
- 16:16to whom tribute is due, custom to whom custom,
- 16:19fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor. Owe no
- 16:23man anything but to love one another, for he that loves
- 16:27another has fulfilled the Law. For this:
- 16:31You shall not commit adultery. You shall not kill.
- 16:34You shall not steal. You shall not bear false witness.
- 16:38You shall not covet. And if there be any other commandment,
- 16:42it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, You shall
- 16:45love your neighbor as yourself.
- 16:49Love works no ill to his neighbor. Therefore love
- 16:53is the fulfilling of the Law. And that,
- 16:57knowing the time, that now is the high time to awaken out of
- 17:01sleep. For now is our salvation nearer than
- 17:05when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is
- 17:09at hand. Let us therefore cast off the works of
- 17:12darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.
- 17:17Let us walk honestly, as in the day, not in rioting
- 17:21and drunkenness, Not in chambering and wantonness,
- 17:25not in strife and envying. But put on the
- 17:29Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for
- 17:33the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof.
- 17:41Psalm 23:1-6.
- 17:45The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes
- 17:50me to lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside the still
- 17:53waters. He restores my soul. He leads
- 17:57me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
- 18:01Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will
- 18:05fear no evil, for You are with me. Your rod and Your staff,
- 18:08they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in
- 18:12the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil;
- 18:16my cup runs over. Surely goodness and
- 18:20mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in
- 18:24the house of the Lord forever.
- 18:31Proverbs 20:11. Even a child
- 18:35is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it
- 18:38be right.
- 18:41Yevrek ka Adonai,
- 18:52vishmareka
- 18:58yeh Adonai.
- 19:07Anav Elikah,
- 19:11Vikunnehkah.
- 19:16Yisah Adonai,
- 19:23Anav Elikah,

- 19:43The Aaronic Blessing from Numbers chapter 6,
- 19:4724 to 26.
- 19:50Adonai bless you and keep you.
- 19:53Adonai make his face to shine upon you and
- 19:57be gracious to you. Adonai lift up his countenance
- 20:02upon you and give you peace.
