- 0:00Speaker 1: Woo!
- 0:01Speaker 2: Still gots.
- 0:01Speaker 1: Woo!
- 0:02Speaker 3: I got to be honest with you, Bruce, there's a
- 0:03Speaker 3: good chance I'd be high anyway.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Woo!
- 0:05Speaker 1: And I'm wondering how the football weekend was. Were you
- 0:07Speaker 1: able to watch it? Wow, what happened?
- 0:10Speaker 4: Oh, I'm tired of him.
- 0:12Speaker 1: I'm serious. How about that?
- 0:14Speaker 5: In company. We are mother shuckers, baby.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Woo!
- 0:17Speaker 6: Bruce, does Faison Brandon's name sound like it's on backwards?
- 0:20Speaker 1: No doubt.
- 0:21Speaker 6: It's time to get your.
- 0:23Speaker 6: It's time to get your financials. To get the all boat.
- 0:28Speaker 5: You got nothing right there.
- 0:29Speaker 6: This is not going well.
- 0:31Speaker 2: This is Stu Gotts and Company.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Stu, back to you.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Our thanks to Christopher Mad Dog Russo for joining us
- 0:38Speaker 3: in set number one. Matt Liner could have joined us
- 0:41Speaker 3: in about 15 minutes here on set number two. It
- 0:44Speaker 3: is a hot take Tuesday. I had no idea it's
- 0:47Speaker 3: a hot take Tuesday. We've never done a hot take
- 0:49Speaker 3: Tuesday before. We will get to that. in just a second,
- 0:53Speaker 3: but Mikey A first, I am told, has an NFL
- 0:56Speaker 3: question for both me and Taylor.
- 0:59Speaker 1: What do you have, Mikey?
- 1:00Speaker 7: So I was looking at a bunch of the standings
- 1:03Speaker 7: as I was getting ready for things like if the
- 1:06Speaker 7: season ended today and stuff like that, and I came
- 1:08Speaker 7: across four things, and all I want you guys to
- 1:11Speaker 7: do is power rank these things on how crazy they are.
- 1:15Speaker 3: At this point in the season. All right, a power
- 1:17Speaker 3: ranking of craziness, okay?
- 1:20Speaker 5: Yes.
- 1:20Speaker 1: All right.
- 1:21Speaker 5: Okay.
- 1:21Speaker 7: So we'll start with the Giants being 4-2-1 atop the
- 1:25Speaker 7: AFC East, NFC East, with Jackson Dart as their quarterback.
- 1:31Speaker 7: And then next we'll throw in the Browns being 5-2
- 1:35Speaker 7: atop the AFC North.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:38Speaker 7: The Vikings being 6-0 and the Chargers being 0-6. Where,
- 1:43Speaker 7: if I would have told you before week one, this
- 1:47Speaker 7: is what I've got, coming into week eight of the NFL.
- 1:51Speaker 5: Power rank them at how crazy you think they were.
- 1:53Speaker 3: So the Giants 4-2-1 without Jackson Dart is what you
- 1:57Speaker 3: meant to say, right?
- 1:58Speaker 1: Yes?
- 1:59Speaker 5: With Jackson, I'm sorry, with Jackson Dart, with J.J. McCarthy
- 2:02Speaker 5: is what I meant to say.
- 2:03Speaker 3: Right, with a combination of Jackson Dart, Jameis Winston, and
- 2:07Speaker 3: now J.J.
- 2:08Speaker 1: McCarthy.
- 2:09Speaker 5: Sure.
- 2:09Speaker 1: They are 4-2-1.
- 2:10Speaker 3: They're atop the NFC East. Okay, so that's one of them.
- 2:14Speaker 3: The other one is the Chargers being 0-6. And what
- 2:17Speaker 3: were the other two?
- 2:18Speaker 6: Browns 5-2, Vikings 6-0.
- 2:20Speaker 1: And we have to power rank these.
- 2:22Speaker 6: In terms of most surprising?
- 2:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:25Speaker 5: Most surprising would be number one.
- 2:26Speaker 3: I would say the Chargers being 0-6 to me is
- 2:30Speaker 3: the most surprising thing to happen thus far in the
- 2:34Speaker 3: NFL to me. The Browns being a close second.
- 2:38Speaker 6: Yeah, I would go, if I had to rank it
- 2:41Speaker 6: in order of most surprising to least surprising, I would
- 2:43Speaker 6: go Chargers 0-6, Browns being 5-2 atop the AFC North,
- 2:48Speaker 6: Giants being 4-2-1 with that combination of quarterbacks, and then
- 2:52Speaker 6: the least surprising, the Vikings being 6-0.
- 2:55Speaker 3: Man, I'd probably flip the bottom two. The Vikings being
- 2:59Speaker 3: 6-0 would be third for me. The Giants being 4-2-1,
- 3:03Speaker 3: just because of John Harbaugh, that division's not very good.
- 3:07Speaker 1: I would say that's the least surprising.
- 3:10Speaker 7: Yeah, but we didn't think that division wasn't going to
- 3:12Speaker 7: be very good. Everybody was like, oh, well, Jaden Daniels
- 3:15Speaker 7: coming back. Maybe Washington kind of finds a little bit
- 3:18Speaker 7: of what they had two years ago. The Eagles are
- 3:20Speaker 7: always the Eagles. And then, hey, the Cowboys, we're told
- 3:24Speaker 7: every year they could be great.
- 3:25Speaker 5: But maybe this is the year.
- 3:27Speaker 3: I'm basing this on if you told me before this season, right,
- 3:31Speaker 3: and what my reaction would be. So if you told
- 3:34Speaker 3: me the Giants would be atop the NFC East, through
- 3:37Speaker 3: seven weeks, I would have shrugged my shoulders.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Okay, football, it happens. They got John Harbaugh.
- 3:43Speaker 3: I don't know that Jackson Tartt is getting hurt at
- 3:45Speaker 3: that point, and so I shrugged my shoulders. If you
- 3:48Speaker 3: tell me the Browns are 5-2, you're getting a serious reaction.
- 3:52Speaker 3: If you tell me the Vikings are 6-0, it's a shrug,
- 3:55Speaker 3: but also football, football happens.
- 3:58Speaker 1: The Vikings are 6-0.
- 3:59Speaker 3: If you told me before the season the Chargers– would
- 4:03Speaker 3: be winless. And the last winless team in the NFL,
- 4:07Speaker 3: I would have not believed you. And so that's how
- 4:11Speaker 3: I'm basing my rankings.
- 4:12Speaker 6: I would have assumed Justin Herbert got, got hurt in
- 4:15Speaker 6: the preseason.
- 4:16Speaker 1: He has a Jackson darts, been healthy and playing like
- 4:18Speaker 1: a pro bowler.
- 4:22Speaker 5: Okay. I think I agree with you, Stu. I think
- 4:25Speaker 5: I agree with you.
- 4:26Speaker 7: I think it's, I think the chargers are obviously the
- 4:28Speaker 7: most surprising thing because This was a team that a
- 4:31Speaker 7: lot of people were like, AFC title game, at least, possibly.
- 4:36Speaker 5: The Super Bowl.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Yes.
- 4:38Speaker 5: And then, I mean, the Browns? The Browns have been
- 4:41Speaker 5: a laughingstock for how long? And now you're like, oh,
- 4:44Speaker 5: they're going to start the Sean Watson?
- 4:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:46Speaker 5: Okay, they're tanking for somebody.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Right. Yes. That's why I have the Chargers one and
- 4:50Speaker 1: the Browns two. Those are shocking to me. Yes.
- 4:53Speaker 4: Wow.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Yes.
- 4:54Speaker 5: I think I agree with you.
- 4:57Speaker 1: I'm glad you do. Taylor, are you upset that he
- 5:00Speaker 1: doesn't agree with you?
- 5:01Speaker 6: No, because I think we agree for the most part
- 5:04Speaker 6: on one and two. And then I think three and
- 5:06Speaker 6: four is probably subjective at best.
- 5:08Speaker 1: All right. Do we help you out there?
- 5:10Speaker 3: It's all subjective.
- 5:14Speaker 6: The Chargers not being number one, I will not agree
- 5:17Speaker 6: with anybody on that list.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Right.
- 5:19Speaker 5: Yes.
- 5:19Speaker 3: That is the most shocking thing to happen this year
- 5:23Speaker 3: so far in the NFL. What is the Hot Take
- 5:27Speaker 3: Tuesday we have going on here? I am thrilled that
- 5:29Speaker 3: we have Hot Take Tuesdays. I just had no idea
- 5:32Speaker 3: we ever had a Hot Take Tuesday. What are you
- 5:34Speaker 3: doing here, Taylor?
- 5:36Speaker 5: So I have a Hot Take Tuesday.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Wow.
- 5:38Speaker 6: That's why you have the fire music in the background.
- 5:41Speaker 1: It's cooking. You feel a little toasty. You feel a
- 5:44Speaker 1: little warm.
- 5:44Speaker 5: It's getting warm in here.
- 5:47Speaker 6: My Hot Take Tuesday.
- 5:49Speaker 6: The worst team in the NFC North is the 6-0 Vikings.
- 5:59Speaker 5: But you had that as the least surprising.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Wait a second.
- 6:02Speaker 3: Why did you point to Ricardo, who is controlling the
- 6:05Speaker 3: buttons over there, because you wanted the flames to distinguish?
- 6:08Speaker 1: What happened there?
- 6:09Speaker 6: Yep, so once you say the take, the sound effect
- 6:11Speaker 6: goes away.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Oh, really? Wow.
- 6:14Speaker 3: So you have the undefeated Minnesota Vikings as being the
- 6:17Speaker 3: worst team in that division.
- 6:19Speaker 1: I love the take. I am so proud of you.
- 6:21Speaker 1: That is a next level.
- 6:23Speaker 3: You're thinking differently than everyone else to say that the
- 6:27Speaker 3: best team in the NFL undefeated is not the best
- 6:31Speaker 3: team in that division.
- 6:32Speaker 6: So if you look at the stats, the team that
- 6:35Speaker 6: has scored the fewest touchdowns this season, no surprise, it's
- 6:40Speaker 6: the L.A. Chargers, the 0-6 L.A. Chargers. They have scored
- 6:44Speaker 6: nine touchdowns this season. 31st in terms of touchdowns is
- 6:49Speaker 6: the 6-0 Minnesota Vikings.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Yes, they're not good on offense.
- 6:53Speaker 6: But they're second in the NFL in point differential, only
- 6:56Speaker 6: behind the 49ers, where they're not scoring touchdowns. They're winning games.
- 7:00Speaker 6: Their defense is playing great. But if you do ask
- 7:04Speaker 6: me my level of confidence for each team in that
- 7:06Speaker 6: division going forward, they are going to be the clear
- 7:09Speaker 6: fourth team every time.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Yes, I would have the least amount of confidence. Mikey,
- 7:13Speaker 1: do you agree with that?
- 7:14Speaker 3: I would have the least amount of confidence in the
- 7:17Speaker 3: Vikings of the four teams in that division.
- 7:21Speaker 7: I absolutely agree with that. And I'm going to even
- 7:24Speaker 7: throw another log on this fire.
- 7:26Speaker 5: I think, yeah, please.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Oh, wow.
- 7:31Speaker 7: I think it's very possible that the 6-0 Vikings could
- 7:35Speaker 7: be 6-7.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Wow.
- 7:38Speaker 7: When we look at the standings seven, eight weeks from now.
- 7:42Speaker 5: Their game's coming up at Detroit.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Yes.
- 7:45Speaker 5: Easily they could lose that game.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Right.
- 7:46Speaker 5: Against the Bills.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Yes.
- 7:47Speaker 5: Easily lose that game. At the Packers.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Yep.
- 7:51Speaker 5: Against the Niners.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Yep. Home of the Falcons.
- 7:54Speaker 5: Then they play the Falcons, Panthers, Patriots, Lions.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Yes. Yes.
- 7:58Speaker 5: Those are all possible losses for this team.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Why don't you just say it?
- 8:03Speaker 3: Why don't you say, turn the flames back on and
- 8:06Speaker 3: say the Vikings are going to be six and seven?
- 8:08Speaker 7: Because I think they get one of those either.
- 8:14Speaker 5: They're seven and six. All right.
- 8:16Speaker 7: We're going to look back at this and we're going
- 8:17Speaker 7: to remember when the Vikings were six and oh, they're
- 8:19Speaker 7: going to be seven and six.
- 8:20Speaker 1: All right. That's a hot take.
- 8:21Speaker 3: I mean, they're six and oh, right now you're saying
- 8:24Speaker 3: they're going to go one and six over the next
- 8:26Speaker 3: seven games, essentially.
- 8:27Speaker 5: Yes, that's what I'm saying.
- 8:29Speaker 1: All right, should I try this out, this hot take thing?
- 8:31Speaker 6: Yeah, hot take Tuesday.
- 8:32Speaker 1: All right, give me the flames. What a ridiculous sound.
- 8:39Speaker 1: I am going to– here's my hot take, guys. The L.A.
- 8:43Speaker 3: Rams, for as much as we've questioned them and criticized
- 8:46Speaker 3: them and we talked about them going undefeated before the
- 8:49Speaker 3: season started, they got off to a shaky start, but
- 8:52Speaker 3: they're going to get healthy at the right time, and
- 8:54Speaker 3: the Rams– are going to make the playoffs, and the
- 8:57Speaker 3: Rams will represent the NFC in.
- 8:59Speaker 1: The Super Bowl.
- 9:02Speaker 5: Wow.
- 9:04Speaker 6: You got choked up about that?
- 9:07Speaker 1: I did, yes. I'm still choking. Help me.
- 9:15Speaker 5: No, let him drown.
- 9:16Speaker 1: I'm better now. How about that for a hot take, though?
- 9:20Speaker 1: I mean, come on.
- 9:22Speaker 3: While there are tears coming out of my eyes, Because
- 9:24Speaker 3: I am choking so hard. I'm choking again.
- 9:29Speaker 5: I'm going to call that, Taylor, I'm going to call
- 9:30Speaker 5: that take lukewarm while he chokes. I'm not going to
- 9:33Speaker 5: call it hot.
- 9:34Speaker 6: The fact that he has them. So I agree, Mikey.
- 9:37Speaker 6: That's where I was at with his take saying the
- 9:39Speaker 6: Rams were going to make the playoffs. And then he
- 9:41Speaker 6: upped the ante and said the Rams are going to
- 9:43Speaker 6: be the NFC representative in the Super Bowl. That was
- 9:46Speaker 6: a hot take.
- 9:47Speaker 3: That's where I got you. I'm still tearing up here.
- 9:49Speaker 3: I'm still choking. I have no idea what's going on.
- 9:52Speaker 3: I feel like I choked on a hot take Tuesday.
- 9:55Speaker 3: I just ate. I got to be honest with you.
- 9:58Speaker 3: And the turkey is stuck right in my throat.
- 10:01Speaker 5: Dry turkey, huh?
- 10:03Speaker 1: Triducan.
- 10:04Speaker 6: On the topic of hot takes, one of our friends
- 10:07Speaker 6: of the show, I have to, in the spirit of accountability,
- 10:11Speaker 6: I have to call out one of the friends of
- 10:12Speaker 6: the show because I think he was trying to give
- 10:14Speaker 6: a hot take and it was maybe the most lukewarm
- 10:17Speaker 6: take I've ever heard. Our friend of the show, John Jastrzemski, JJ.
- 10:22Speaker 5: Yes.
- 10:23Speaker 6: He was talking about the Giants beating the Texans, and
- 10:26Speaker 6: his exact quote was, there's an argument to be made
- 10:29Speaker 6: that this is the best win the Giants have had
- 10:32Speaker 6: in the John Harbaugh era. They've had four wins to
- 10:35Speaker 6: choose from.
- 10:38Speaker 1: It's a good hot take though. And a hot take Tuesday.
- 10:42Speaker 5: No, that's not, that's, that's, that's barely warm.
- 10:45Speaker 6: What other wins do you have to choose from the
- 10:47Speaker 6: win against the Cowboys week one?
- 10:48Speaker 1: Okay.
- 10:49Speaker 6: That was a good win.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Yes.
- 10:52Speaker 6: The Texans win. They beat the Cardinals.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Right.
- 10:55Speaker 6: And then they beat the Titans. And the Titans and
- 10:58Speaker 6: the Cardinals games both basically came down to red zone stops,
- 11:01Speaker 6: which I guess are good wins. But the Giants won
- 11:05Speaker 6: as a 10-point underdog, a double-digit underdog. on the road
- 11:10Speaker 6: against Houston when nobody gave them a chance with J.J.
- 11:12Speaker 6: McCarthy starting, I don't really think there's an argument to
- 11:17Speaker 6: be made that this is the best win the Giants
- 11:19Speaker 6: have had. The John Harbaugh era makes it sound like
- 11:22Speaker 6: John Harbaugh has been coaching the Giants for three decades.
- 11:25Speaker 1: It's a dumb take, and I love J.J. We love
- 11:28Speaker 1: all things J.J.
- 11:30Speaker 3: Because they're only seven games into John Harbaugh coaching the
- 11:33Speaker 3: New York Giants.
- 11:34Speaker 1: He said the Texans. Is that what he's saying? That's
- 11:36Speaker 1: the biggest win?
- 11:37Speaker 6: There's an argument to be made that this win over
- 11:39Speaker 6: the Texans is the best win the Giants have had
- 11:42Speaker 6: in the John Harbaugh era.
- 11:44Speaker 3: Okay, so it's stupid to say the John Harbaugh era.
- 11:46Speaker 3: You could say the last couple of years. But the
- 11:48Speaker 3: Texans were coming off two victories. A lot of people
- 11:51Speaker 3: thought they would be a Super Bowl contender headed into
- 11:53Speaker 3: the season.
- 11:54Speaker 1: They still might be. Who knows?
- 11:56Speaker 3: But that was a big win. They get off to
- 11:57Speaker 3: the 0-4 start. They win two straight. The Giants go
- 12:00Speaker 3: on the road with J.J.
- 12:01Speaker 1: McCarthy.
- 12:02Speaker 3: And they get the W. I mean, that's a big win.
- 12:04Speaker 3: It's the biggest win in the John Harbaugh era.
- 12:07Speaker 6: So when I read, when I watched the video and
- 12:10Speaker 6: I listened to the podcast and I read the headline,
- 12:14Speaker 6: I thought initially he meant if you wanted to go
- 12:17Speaker 6: for a hot take, you would say that was the
- 12:19Speaker 6: best win John Harbaugh's ever had.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Right.
- 12:22Speaker 6: Which would be a hot take because he's won a
- 12:24Speaker 6: Super Bowl.
- 12:24Speaker 5: That would be a hot take.
- 12:25Speaker 6: He's gone to the playoffs. He's done this. He's done that.
- 12:27Speaker 6: He's got a Hall of Fame resume.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Right.
- 12:29Speaker 6: That would have been the hot take. Saying it was
- 12:32Speaker 6: one of the best four wins since the season started
- 12:35Speaker 6: is like, what were you going for?
- 12:38Speaker 1: Yeah. Did you text him?
- 12:41Speaker 5: A hot hand state. Like the little things.
- 12:43Speaker 6: You use to keep your hands warm when it's cold.
- 12:44Speaker 5: Yeah, no, I didn't text him.
- 12:45Speaker 1: I felt bad.
- 12:45Speaker 6: I don't know if I have that relationship with JJ. Well,
- 12:47Speaker 6: I guess we're going to find out if I have
- 12:48Speaker 6: that relationship with JJ.
- 12:50Speaker 3: You want me to text him right now and say
- 12:51Speaker 3: Taylor thinks that was a ridiculous take?
- 12:53Speaker 6: Say Taylor said you saying that was the best win
- 12:56Speaker 6: in the Giants have had in the John Harbaugh era.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:00Speaker 6: Was one of the most nonsensical things Taylor has ever heard.
- 13:03Speaker 3: He said, I'm doing it right now.
- 13:09Speaker 1: It's going to take me a second. You guys might
- 13:11Speaker 1: have to fill.
- 13:11Speaker 5: Okay. Well, while you're talking, can I get my hot take?
- 13:14Speaker 1: Yes.
- 13:16Speaker 4: All right.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Hold on. Taylor. Thanks.
- 13:21Speaker 6: Make sure you make sure you use the word nonsensical Taylor.
- 13:24Speaker 5: All right.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Tell me how you want me to phrase it before
- 13:26Speaker 1: we get to Mike. Keep the flames up.
- 13:28Speaker 5: Hey, big dog.
- 13:30Speaker 1: No, I'm not saying big dog. Hey, JJ. Okay, JJ.
- 13:34Speaker 6: Hey, JJ. Taylor said.
- 13:35Speaker 1: I'm not saying hey, just JJ.
- 13:37Speaker 6: JJ, Taylor said your take about that being the best
- 13:40Speaker 6: win the Giants have had in the John Harbaugh era.
- 13:43Speaker 2: Slow down.
- 13:43Speaker 1: Said your take.
- 13:46Speaker 6: About that being the best win.
- 13:47Speaker 1: About that being the best win.
- 13:49Speaker 6: The Giants have had in the John Harbaugh era.
- 13:51Speaker 5: Yes. This is riveting, riveting podcast.
- 13:54Speaker 1: I know it is. Yes.
- 13:56Speaker 6: Is nonsensical.
- 13:57Speaker 1: In the John Harbaugh. Okay, I got it. Keep going.
- 14:02Speaker 1: I spelled John wrong. It's nonsensical. Yeah. Okay, let's see
- 14:08Speaker 1: how he responds. This is great podcasting right here.
- 14:13Speaker 5: He's got the flames crackling.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Nonsensical. All right, hopefully I spelled everything right. I think
- 14:20Speaker 1: I did. All right, text has been sent. We'll see
- 14:22Speaker 1: how he responds.
- 14:26Speaker 5: You're a coward.
- 14:27Speaker 1: You know that? You really are.
- 14:29Speaker 3: I mean, you would never say that if Yastrzemski was
- 14:31Speaker 3: on the podcast right now.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Anyway, any more hot takes for anyone? I have the Rams.
- 14:36Speaker 1: I said it, guys.
- 14:37Speaker 3: Not just making it to the playoffs, but representing the
- 14:39Speaker 3: NFC in the Super Bowl.
- 14:41Speaker 1: No one is saying that today. Nobody. Okay? Nobody.
- 14:45Speaker 5: I'm calling it lukewarm. I'm calling that a lukewarm.
- 14:49Speaker 1: All right.
- 14:49Speaker 3: Since the flames are on and it's very hot in here,
- 14:52Speaker 3: what's going on with the Colts' fire sale?
- 14:57Speaker 1: Let's go back to Mikey A. He has a hot take.
- 14:59Speaker 1: Keep the flames roaring.
- 15:02Speaker 5: My hot take is this.
- 15:04Speaker 7: The four and three Baltimore Ravens are done not even
- 15:07Speaker 7: making the playoffs.
- 15:08Speaker 1: Wow. That's so hot.
- 15:11Speaker 6: It's not that hot. Watching them in that second half,
- 15:13Speaker 6: I think they might just be a bunch of losers.
- 15:15Speaker 1: Yeah. I'm with Taylor on that. Wow.
- 15:18Speaker 5: We're calling the Rams being good. The Rams.
- 15:23Speaker 7: Doing what everybody said they were going to do before
- 15:25Speaker 7: the season, a hot take. But the Baltimore Ravens not
- 15:30Speaker 7: even making the playoffs. We're calling that not hot.
- 15:32Speaker 5: Okay. I guess I'll have to get back in the lab.
- 15:35Speaker 3: I'm talking about a team that has a lot of
- 15:37Speaker 3: players injured, that got off to a bad start, that
- 15:40Speaker 3: has the 49ers and the Seahawks in their division, and
- 15:43Speaker 3: I'm saying they're still making it to the playoffs and
- 15:45Speaker 3: making it to the Super Bowl. I mean, that is
- 15:48Speaker 3: a good hot take, I feel like. You're upset at
- 15:50Speaker 3: us because your take wasn't nearly as hot?
- 15:52Speaker 6: If we were power ranking the hot takes, Mikey, you
- 15:55Speaker 6: would have come in third, very clearly. A distinct bronze
- 15:58Speaker 6: medal for you.
- 16:01Speaker 5: Well, okay.
- 16:02Speaker 1: All right. Sorry, Mikey.
- 16:04Speaker 5: I'll get back in the lab.
- 16:06Speaker 1: I mean, the Ravens are four and three. They're in
- 16:08Speaker 1: a division.
- 16:09Speaker 3: Well, they are in a division in Mikey's defense with
- 16:13Speaker 3: the Browns and the Steelers, and everyone's waiting for those
- 16:15Speaker 3: two teams to fall.
- 16:15Speaker 5: Lamar should be coming back.
- 16:16Speaker 3: Right, and everyone's waiting for those two teams to fall apart. Uh, it's, it's,
- 16:22Speaker 3: it's not scolding hot.
- 16:23Speaker 1: It's decent. It's a decent take on a Tuesday. It is.
- 16:26Speaker 5: You'd burn your hand. You'd burn your hand if you
- 16:28Speaker 5: touch that take.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Yes, I would. Uh, Colts fire sale. What's happening? JJ
- 16:33Speaker 1: has not responded yet, by the way.
- 16:36Speaker 6: So the news from Adam Schefter is there's been a trade.
- 16:39Speaker 6: The Colts have agreed to send eight-time Pro Bowl guard
- 16:42Speaker 6: Quentin Nelson to the Seattle Seahawks per him and Ian Rappaport.
- 16:47Speaker 6: Nelson is on an expiring contract, and the Colts are
- 16:49Speaker 6: opting to get back draft capital now before they can
- 16:52Speaker 6: lose him in free agency.
- 16:54Speaker 1: All right.
- 16:55Speaker 6: Just a year removed from the Colts essentially going all
- 16:58Speaker 6: in because they had a good feeling about Daniel Jones.
- 17:02Speaker 6: To then have a fire sale a year later is
- 17:05Speaker 6: a pretty big disaster. It is so Colts.
- 17:08Speaker 1: It really is. Why sign Daniel Jones to the big contract? Why? Why? J.J.
- 17:14Speaker 3: Has responded. His response, fair game. Had six or seven
- 17:21Speaker 3: to choose from. Still the best of the six or seven.
- 17:24Speaker 1: How about that?
- 17:26Speaker 7: I mean, I'm just going to say that's a lukewarm
- 17:29Speaker 7: response to a lukewarm hot.
- 17:32Speaker 6: There is nothing scalding hot. He had four wins to
- 17:37Speaker 6: choose from. He didn't have six or seven games. He
- 17:40Speaker 6: said that was the best win of the Harbaugh.
- 17:42Speaker 5: Is he counting preseason?
- 17:44Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know what his other choices were.
- 17:48Speaker 3: He said he chose. He thinks he chose the best
- 17:50Speaker 3: of the six or seven choices. He had available to him.
- 17:53Speaker 3: I had no idea where he was doing this and
- 17:55Speaker 3: what the format was and what segment they were doing.
- 17:58Speaker 1: I mean, what do you want from me?
- 18:00Speaker 5: That's the vanilla frozen yogurt of hot takes.
- 18:05Speaker 3: I don't feel like any of us really gave a
- 18:08Speaker 3: great hot take.
- 18:09Speaker 1: I got to be honest with you. Except for Taylor.
- 18:12Speaker 5: No, I think they were all pretty good. They were
- 18:14Speaker 5: all pretty good.
- 18:15Speaker 8: All right.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Matt Leinart is going to join us here coming up
- 18:19Speaker 1: in a few minutes. College football. It's interesting.
- 18:23Speaker 3: It's an interesting time in college football. What do you
- 18:27Speaker 3: guys want to discuss with Matt Leiner? Because all I
- 18:29Speaker 3: want to do, because our guests seem to love the
- 18:31Speaker 3: game one table, and I just want to play the game.
- 18:34Speaker 1: One table with Matt Leiner and not do anything else.
- 18:38Speaker 6: Well, I want to talk about how big a disaster
- 18:40Speaker 6: the Oregon season has been so far because he's on
- 18:42Speaker 6: big noon kickoff and their connection with the Big Ten Conference.
- 18:47Speaker 6: where Oregon coach Dan Lanning announces that star quarterback Dante
- 18:50Speaker 6: Moore is not expected to play the rest of the season.
- 18:54Speaker 1: And I feel like.
- 18:54Speaker 6: Leinart has pretty good experience as somebody who could have
- 18:58Speaker 6: came out of the draft and been a pretty high
- 19:00Speaker 6: draft pick, decides to go back to college. Now, it
- 19:02Speaker 6: was a different era back then where Dante Moore at
- 19:05Speaker 6: least had NIL to fall back on, but you would
- 19:08Speaker 6: assume Dante Moore was the consensus number two pick behind
- 19:12Speaker 6: Fernando Mendoza. And he turns away that deal where David
- 19:15Speaker 6: Bailey gets, you know, 50 plus million dollars from the
- 19:18Speaker 6: New York Jets for going two overall. Now it's like,
- 19:22Speaker 6: what is going to happen to Dante Moore this upcoming draft?
- 19:25Speaker 3: What do you guys think is going to happen to
- 19:26Speaker 3: Dante Moore? He's going to fall outside the first round,
- 19:28Speaker 3: is he not?
- 19:29Speaker 1: I mean, it's funny.
- 19:30Speaker 3: You head into the season with Dante Moore and Arch
- 19:32Speaker 3: Manning as the two quarterbacks everyone's looking at. And now
- 19:35Speaker 3: you have questions about whether either of them will be
- 19:37Speaker 3: selected in the first round.
- 19:39Speaker 5: Dante Moore is going back to college.
- 19:41Speaker 7: Whatever he has to do to go back to college
- 19:43Speaker 7: for another year, that's what he's going to do. Because
- 19:45Speaker 7: you don't go from the number two overall pick to
- 19:48Speaker 7: outside the first. round and go, yeah, that's what I'm
- 19:52Speaker 7: going to do. You go back to school.
- 19:53Speaker 1: So he's going to find a judge.
- 19:56Speaker 5: Exactly.
- 19:56Speaker 1: Yes.
- 19:57Speaker 6: Close your eyes and imagine this.
- 19:59Speaker 1: Do I have to close them?
- 20:00Speaker 6: You don't have to.
- 20:01Speaker 5: Yes.
- 20:01Speaker 6: Theater of the mind.
- 20:02Speaker 1: Okay, I'll close them.
- 20:03Speaker 6: If you just tell them you closed them for the
- 20:05Speaker 6: podcast audience, the podcast audience would think that your eyes
- 20:08Speaker 6: were closed.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Okay, they're closed though.
- 20:10Speaker 7: They stuck with us through a text message. They're going
- 20:12Speaker 7: to stick with us while you're trying to figure out
- 20:14Speaker 7: if you're going to close your eyes.
- 20:15Speaker 6: So close your eyes and imagine this.
- 20:16Speaker 1: We hope they stuck with us.
- 20:18Speaker 6: Next season, Malachi Toney's getting ready to run out of
- 20:22Speaker 6: the tunnel at Hard Rock Stadium for the preseason number
- 20:27Speaker 6: one Miami Hurricanes.
- 20:28Speaker 1: Yes.
- 20:28Speaker 6: And who's replacing Darian Mensah, who goes on to be
- 20:31Speaker 6: a first-round pick? Dante Moore.
- 20:33Speaker 1: Wow. Wow, I could see it.
- 20:35Speaker 3: Actually, when I close my eyes, I open my eyes,
- 20:37Speaker 3: I can't see it, but when I close my eyes,
- 20:39Speaker 3: I could absolutely see him running out of the smoke.
- 20:42Speaker 1: I can.
- 20:43Speaker 3: I could see him running out of the smoke against
- 20:44Speaker 3: FAMU with 22,000 people in the stands, no one caring,
- 20:48Speaker 3: no one cheering for him, and him wondering why he
- 20:51Speaker 3: came to Miami in the first place.
- 20:52Speaker 6: People will blame it on the fact that the stadium's
- 20:54Speaker 6: far away from campus and it's a late-arriving crowd and
- 20:57Speaker 6: the humidity in August, but we all know the real
- 21:01Speaker 6: reason why they're not there. Nobody cares about that team.
- 21:06Speaker 1: Can you see it, Mikey?
- 21:08Speaker 5: No, I can't see it.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Wow.
- 21:09Speaker 7: Not because I don't think they're going to do that.
- 21:12Speaker 7: It's just because I don't know why Dante Moore would
- 21:14Speaker 7: go there to back up Lenora Sellers.
- 21:19Speaker 1: You have the Canes getting all the quarterbacks?
- 21:22Speaker 5: Well, I have them getting Lenora Sellers.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Okay.
- 21:25Speaker 3: Which means no room for the Oregon quarterbacks. So if
- 21:29Speaker 3: you close your eyes, you see Lenora Sellers running out.
- 21:32Speaker 7: I see Lenora Sellers running out next to Malachi Toney.
- 21:35Speaker 3: And coming from South Carolina, not that it's a bad
- 21:37Speaker 3: place to play football. The fans are into it. But
- 21:40Speaker 3: Lenora Sellers, yes, I guess if I close my eyes,
- 21:42Speaker 3: I can see him running out through the smoke against
- 21:45Speaker 3: FAMU with 22,000 people there, half of them there to
- 21:48Speaker 3: see the FAMU band.
- 21:50Speaker 6: Can I tell you guys what I'm done with when
- 21:51Speaker 6: it comes to college football? Because it is the equivalent
- 21:55Speaker 6: to the preseason in the NFL of everybody coming out
- 21:58Speaker 6: of the woodwork saying this is the Dallas Cowboys year.
- 22:00Speaker 6: The Dallas Cowboys will make it to the Super Bowl
- 22:03Speaker 6: and every year we fall for it. Because we're looking
- 22:05Speaker 6: at these experts, and they're like, these guys are experts.
- 22:07Speaker 6: They must know what they're talking about. The college equivalent
- 22:10Speaker 6: of that is every year the NFL draft experts, the
- 22:14Speaker 6: guys that we love, and I'm not going to name names.
- 22:17Speaker 1: Field Yates.
- 22:18Speaker 5: Don't you dare.
- 22:20Speaker 1: Leave him alone. What?
- 22:22Speaker 6: But every year, these draft guys come out and tell us,
- 22:26Speaker 6: this quarterback class is generational talent. This quarterback class is
- 22:30Speaker 6: the best quarterback class we've ever seen before. And it's like, yes,
- 22:33Speaker 6: we talk ourselves into Lenora Sellers and Arch Manning and
- 22:36Speaker 6: Dante Moore and Drew Mestemaker. And then every year we
- 22:40Speaker 6: are disappointed with the results. And then it feels like
- 22:42Speaker 6: we're picking out of a barrel to see who the
- 22:45Speaker 6: Jets or who the Raiders are going to reach for
- 22:48Speaker 6: at the top quarterback position where we're talking ourselves into
- 22:50Speaker 6: like Carson Beck.
- 22:51Speaker 1: I know, but things change as the season progresses.
- 22:54Speaker 6: But it's every year. It's every year this happens.
- 22:55Speaker 3: Well, it's been the last two years, and it's interesting
- 22:58Speaker 3: that you're picking on Field Yates and no one else.
- 23:00Speaker 6: I love Field Yates.
- 23:00Speaker 5: That's why.
- 23:01Speaker 6: Field Yates was the only one I felt comfortable picking on.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Right, but why not McShay? Why not Mel? I mean.
- 23:07Speaker 5: Because I don't feel comfortable picking on him. Don't you
- 23:09Speaker 5: dare pick on Mel.
- 23:10Speaker 1: Well, that's my point, Mikey, but he feels comfortable, perfectly fine,
- 23:14Speaker 1: picking on Field Yates.
- 23:15Speaker 6: Because I look at Field almost like an older brother.
- 23:18Speaker 1: Like, I would.
- 23:18Speaker 6: I would rib on my older brother. McShay, it's like,
- 23:21Speaker 6: McShay's like the cool kid at school where it's like,
- 23:23Speaker 6: I don't want to say anything.
- 23:24Speaker 1: And Mel's like royalty.
- 23:25Speaker 5: Yes.
- 23:27Speaker 6: You have my word, Mel Kiper Jr. I will never
- 23:30Speaker 6: say a bad word about you ever. And I will
- 23:32Speaker 6: defend your honor forever.
- 23:33Speaker 5: Damn right.
- 23:35Speaker 1: You just criticized him without saying his name.
- 23:38Speaker 6: I wasn't talking about him.
- 23:39Speaker 5: No, he wasn't talking about him. Everybody but him.
- 23:42Speaker 1: Just Field Yates. Matt Leinart, next. Matt Leiner with us
- 24:00Speaker 1: here on behalf of Abbott.
- 24:02Speaker 3: He is teaming up with global health and blood screening
- 24:04Speaker 3: leader Abbott and the Big Ten Conference to tackle critical
- 24:07Speaker 3: blood shortages across the country for the third year of
- 24:11Speaker 3: the We Give Blood competition.
- 24:13Speaker 1: Matt, talk about it. Tell us what you're doing with Abbott.
- 24:16Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean, this has been such an incredible partnership
- 24:19Speaker 8: with them.
- 24:20Speaker 4: You know, just, you know, I lost my mom. um,
- 24:23Speaker 4: to cancer.
- 24:24Speaker 8: She had a rare blood disorder, so blood transfusions and
- 24:26Speaker 8: all of that. This was 10 years ago, but it
- 24:28Speaker 8: was just a big part of that process. So when
- 24:31Speaker 8: Abbott came to me and we kind of worked this out,
- 24:33Speaker 8: it just, it means so much to me to, so
- 24:36Speaker 8: to represent Abbott and what they're doing and the impact
- 24:39Speaker 8: that they're doing, it's incredible. So they teamed up with
- 24:41Speaker 8: the big 10 couple of years ago, started this kind of,
- 24:44Speaker 8: we give blood campaign competition to see who can donate
- 24:47Speaker 8: the most blood across all 18 big 10 schools. So it's,
- 24:50Speaker 8: it's created this fun, um, competition off the field. The
- 24:54Speaker 8: winner gets a million dollars to advance student health. So
- 24:57Speaker 8: there is a big incentive there that Abbott's been able
- 24:59Speaker 8: to do.
- 25:00Speaker 4: And as you.
- 25:01Speaker 8: Guys said, we just have a big blood shortage here.
- 25:04Speaker 8: You know, every two seconds someone needs blood. One blood
- 25:07Speaker 8: donation can save up to three lives. And this year
- 25:09Speaker 8: we've had, I think, over 80,000 people in this campaign
- 25:14Speaker 8: have donated, which has saved up to 250,000 lives so far.
- 25:18Speaker 8: So when you really kind of crunch the numbers, it's
- 25:20Speaker 8: a massive, massive impact. So Um, big 10.org slash Abbott
- 25:25Speaker 8: is the website where people can go see how they
- 25:27Speaker 8: can get involved. You can go to the nearest blood
- 25:30Speaker 8: center near you or a blood drive. Um, you know,
- 25:33Speaker 8: you don't have to be in student or alumni or anything.
- 25:35Speaker 8: You can just be a normal person that wants to
- 25:37Speaker 8: give back. So, uh, it's been really cool to see
- 25:39Speaker 8: the growth of this, uh, you know, and it's, it's,
- 25:43Speaker 8: it's a fun competition to kind of get everybody involved.
- 25:45Speaker 8: So been, uh, been a huge part of, uh, the
- 25:47Speaker 8: big 10 last couple of years and, and always, uh,
- 25:50Speaker 8: grateful for, for my family over at Abbott.
- 25:52Speaker 1: All right, that's a great job by you. We'll promote
- 25:54Speaker 1: it again on the way out here, Matt.
- 25:56Speaker 4: Thank you, guys, yeah.
- 25:57Speaker 3: What do you make here? If I put you in charge,
- 25:59Speaker 3: I know you love USC. I know you love the program.
- 26:02Speaker 3: I kind of relate it to Miami here, where the fans,
- 26:06Speaker 3: where if they're down for a couple of years, the
- 26:08Speaker 3: fans start to get upset. They try to do stuff.
- 26:10Speaker 3: They try to make the team better, and certainly that's
- 26:12Speaker 3: happened down here. USC, one of the storied programs in
- 26:15Speaker 3: college football history. If I put Matt Leinart in charge
- 26:19Speaker 3: of USC, the czar of USC football... How would you
- 26:23Speaker 3: fix it, Matt?
- 26:24Speaker 4: Man, I want nothing part of that. I want no
- 26:27Speaker 4: part of that job. I'll tell you that.
- 26:30Speaker 8: Look, it's it's again, it's it's it's it's obviously being
- 26:35Speaker 8: talked about here on the West Coast.
- 26:36Speaker 4: And I would just say this to like people.
- 26:40Speaker 8: So many college football fans and programs have such a
- 26:45Speaker 8: false level of expectation.
- 26:47Speaker 5: Right.
- 26:47Speaker 8: Like of where their program is and should be, because.
- 26:50Speaker 8: I say we, but we live in this world of
- 26:53Speaker 8: the past and all that. And if you really look
- 26:55Speaker 8: at USC, when I was there, it was, gosh, 05.
- 26:59Speaker 8: That's like 05 and a couple of years after that
- 27:02Speaker 8: with Pete Carroll, they were really good. That's really the
- 27:04Speaker 8: last time, if you think about it, USC has been
- 27:08Speaker 8: truly relevant in the national landscape of college football. You've
- 27:12Speaker 8: had a couple of years here and there. Clay Helton
- 27:14Speaker 8: had a great year. Lincoln was with Caleb. His first
- 27:16Speaker 8: year was I would say it was a hamstring away
- 27:18Speaker 8: from probably being in the playoff that year, right?
- 27:20Speaker 4: The first year.
- 27:22Speaker 8: But, but, but I do think like the, the expectations,
- 27:25Speaker 8: I even like Brady Quinn and I talk about Notre Dame,
- 27:27Speaker 8: Notre Dame has won a championship since 88, like genuinely
- 27:30Speaker 8: since 80. Now they've been in the playoff, they've been close.
- 27:33Speaker 8: But I think when we look at USC, like there's
- 27:37Speaker 8: this hope that we can get back there and, and
- 27:40Speaker 8: USC should be able to get back there because it
- 27:42Speaker 8: is USC. And, the recruiting hotbed here in Los Angeles,
- 27:46Speaker 8: and now the new football facility and their NIL is working.
- 27:50Speaker 8: They've got, they've got it going on over there. They're
- 27:52Speaker 8: in a good spot. And it just, just seems to,
- 27:55Speaker 8: to not be right.
- 27:56Speaker 1: Right.
- 27:57Speaker 8: Like, like where I said this the other day, a
- 27:59Speaker 8: couple of weeks ago after the Oregon game, like, where
- 28:01Speaker 8: is the program going?
- 28:03Speaker 1: Right.
- 28:03Speaker 8: You want to feel like it's a setting losses are
- 28:05Speaker 8: going to happen, especially in the big 10, but you
- 28:07Speaker 8: want to feel like you're going on a trajectory upward and, and,
- 28:12Speaker 8: Part of it doesn't feel that way. Now, I would
- 28:14Speaker 8: say this. Again, this is the long answer to your question.
- 28:18Speaker 8: You have this incredible opportunity the next month to rewrite
- 28:23Speaker 8: history and the narrative.
- 28:24Speaker 4: It's going to be hard.
- 28:24Speaker 8: Ohio State, Indiana, UCLA are three of your four next games.
- 28:28Speaker 8: And I don't know if USC can win all those.
- 28:30Speaker 8: They haven't proven they can win a game like that.
- 28:33Speaker 8: But for me, when I look at USC, we always
- 28:38Speaker 8: throw around this culture thing in, in sport.
- 28:41Speaker 1: Right.
- 28:42Speaker 8: And I've been around some great locker rooms and some
- 28:44Speaker 8: great culture places and what my culture is like the work,
- 28:49Speaker 8: the every day to try and get better.
- 28:51Speaker 4: The competitive spirit, like all those things. That's what Pete preached, right?
- 28:54Speaker 8: That was Pete Carroll was his, that was his secret sauce,
- 28:57Speaker 8: his magic wand, I always say. Um, and I don't,
- 29:00Speaker 8: I don't link in my hat. Like I'm not in
- 29:02Speaker 8: that locker room. I don't know. And the guys play
- 29:04Speaker 8: hard and all that kind of stuff. But That's where
- 29:06Speaker 8: I would start. And there needs to be a level
- 29:09Speaker 8: of toughness around a program. And I'm not saying they're
- 29:13Speaker 8: not tough at all that, but that's just for me personally.
- 29:15Speaker 8: You want to feel like I look at the Bob
- 29:18Speaker 8: Chesney kind of the video that went viral. Remember when
- 29:21Speaker 8: he was like, they're going to row the boat up
- 29:22Speaker 8: the string, whatever it was against Oregon.
- 29:25Speaker 4: Like that fired me up, man. Like that was just like.
- 29:29Speaker 8: Damn, like I want, like I get goosebumps thinking about
- 29:31Speaker 8: it and I have no, you know, like I have
- 29:33Speaker 8: no affiliation with UCLA.
- 29:34Speaker 4: Like they're a good team. He's a hell of a coach.
- 29:36Speaker 8: Like there's a toughness there that you can just feel.
- 29:40Speaker 8: And the team plays that way.
- 29:41Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 29:41Speaker 4: So that's for me. Like, I love USC. I love
- 29:46Speaker 4: these kids.
- 29:46Speaker 8: They play hard. Still think they're a very good football team.
- 29:49Speaker 8: But that's just one of those things for me. Like,
- 29:51Speaker 8: that's just all I know from playing there, you know?
- 29:54Speaker 6: Matt, the news of the day in college football was
- 29:56Speaker 6: Oregon's Dan Lanning announcing that their star quarterback, Dante Moore,
- 29:59Speaker 6: not expected to play the rest of the season. How
- 30:02Speaker 6: would you evaluate his draft stock headed into the spring?
- 30:06Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean, look, I would say this right now.
- 30:09Speaker 8: I think he should come back to school, and I
- 30:12Speaker 8: would have said that last year. And this day, it's
- 30:15Speaker 8: such an interesting time being a quarterback because, you know, like,
- 30:19Speaker 8: and again, at the end of the day, like all
- 30:20Speaker 8: of these kids, like this was supposed to be this
- 30:24Speaker 8: incredible quarterback class that's coming out. And you've seen a
- 30:28Speaker 8: lot of struggles. You've seen Arch struggle at times. You've
- 30:31Speaker 8: seen Sam Levitt struggle, although he's playing a lot better recently.
- 30:35Speaker 8: Dante Moore, even before the injury, he's struggling a little bit.
- 30:38Speaker 8: And then you got guys like Drew Mestemaker. It always
- 30:41Speaker 8: happens every year. We get enamored with all these guys
- 30:43Speaker 8: and some take a step back, some take a step forward.
- 30:47Speaker 8: This day and age in college football where these quarterbacks
- 30:51Speaker 8: are making a minimum $ 3 million a year, like a
- 30:53Speaker 8: minimum at a smaller school and a maximum maybe seven
- 30:57Speaker 8: or eight. I just like– and you're not like that
- 31:02Speaker 8: surefire number one guy.
- 31:05Speaker 4: I watch a lot of film on all these guys.
- 31:08Speaker 8: I just don't know why you wouldn't stay in school
- 31:10Speaker 8: and maximize your opportunity, one, financially because that's just the
- 31:14Speaker 8: world we live in, and two– just to continue to
- 31:17Speaker 8: get better and work on your game. Cause I don't
- 31:19Speaker 8: really look at all of these guys. I don't see
- 31:22Speaker 8: a clear cut. Number one, in my opinion, I see
- 31:24Speaker 8: a lot of good players. I think Chambliss is a
- 31:26Speaker 8: hell of a player. I think he's got a shot.
- 31:27Speaker 8: I think Messamaker is a hell of a player, but like,
- 31:31Speaker 8: I think they can all benefit from coming back if
- 31:33Speaker 8: they have an extra year. That's just my opinion. So
- 31:35Speaker 8: I think Dante should come back. Um, obviously I want
- 31:38Speaker 8: him to be healthy. He's a great kid and get
- 31:39Speaker 8: better and all those things. But I just think, man,
- 31:42Speaker 8: I think he could benefit from another year of, of
- 31:44Speaker 8: just playing football, the reps, the experience, And all that.
- 31:48Speaker 1: I'm just thinking about your decision that you had to make.
- 31:50Speaker 3: If there was money attached to it, man, that would
- 31:52Speaker 3: have been a lot easier.
- 31:53Speaker 1: It would have been a lot of money.
- 31:54Speaker 4: Can you imagine?
- 31:55Speaker 1: Like, yeah, it is.
- 31:55Speaker 8: It's like, if you're making, say, $ 4 million a year
- 32:00Speaker 8: at 20 years old and you have a year or
- 32:02Speaker 8: two left, like, unless, like, I just, like, it would
- 32:06Speaker 8: make you pause and be like, all right, unless I'm
- 32:07Speaker 8: going to be the top five pick, because that's also
- 32:09Speaker 8: life-changing money and all that. But you're also going to
- 32:12Speaker 8: a terrible NFL organization for the most part. Like it's hard,
- 32:16Speaker 8: like it's hard to win in the NFL as a
- 32:18Speaker 8: young quarterback and you get thrown. There's just so many
- 32:20Speaker 8: things now that like, yes, just take a pause, man.
- 32:23Speaker 8: And like maximize your, your potential, maximize the money you
- 32:28Speaker 8: can make. Cause the NFL, that's what, when I came
- 32:30Speaker 8: back for school, I was like, I know the NFL
- 32:32Speaker 8: was going to be there in a year from now.
- 32:33Speaker 4: I needed to get better.
- 32:34Speaker 5: Right.
- 32:35Speaker 8: Like I needed to physically get better and I wanted
- 32:37Speaker 8: to stay in school. Obviously there's just different incentive now.
- 32:40Speaker 1: All right, we have a game for you. It will
- 32:41Speaker 1: be quick.
- 32:42Speaker 3: We'll talk about Abbott again on the way out. Very
- 32:45Speaker 3: quick game here.
- 32:45Speaker 1: Give me the imaging.
- 32:48Speaker 2: There's one table left at the hottest spot in town,
- 32:52Speaker 2: and everybody wants it. Who's getting it, and who's getting
- 32:57Speaker 2: left outside? Greatness gets seated. Everyone else waits. This is
- 33:04Speaker 2: One Table.
- 33:04Speaker 3: All right, so it's Leinert Steakhouse, Southern California. You have
- 33:11Speaker 3: one table, one chair remaining, two guys walk in at
- 33:13Speaker 3: the same time. You determine who gets that table.
- 33:17Speaker 1: Bruce Matthews, Anthony Munoz. He likes it.
- 33:23Speaker 5: That's good.
- 33:25Speaker 8: The big boys. Listen, I love both of them. I
- 33:31Speaker 8: love both of them. I know them both extremely well.
- 33:33Speaker 8: I would say that I'll stay Anthony Munoz only because.
- 33:40Speaker 8: He is one of the great and that's not because
- 33:43Speaker 8: of Bruce, because I love Bruce, too. I was actually
- 33:45Speaker 8: with Bruce in Houston, which.
- 33:46Speaker 5: Is kind of crazy.
- 33:47Speaker 4: He was helping coach there.
- 33:48Speaker 1: Right.
- 33:49Speaker 8: Anthony Munoz is one of the greatest people I've ever met.
- 33:52Speaker 8: He's one of the nicest human beings, let alone maybe
- 33:55Speaker 8: a top 10 football player of all time.
- 33:58Speaker 5: So I'll go.
- 33:59Speaker 4: I'll go with my big boy, Anthony.
- 34:01Speaker 8: Plus, just having him near me, he's a monster of
- 34:03Speaker 8: a human being.
- 34:05Speaker 1: He'll protect you, yes.
- 34:07Speaker 4: I love that you guys are giving the old linemen
- 34:08Speaker 4: some love.
- 34:10Speaker 5: That's good.
- 34:10Speaker 6: So, Matt, now Marcus Allen walks in. Caleb Williams walks in.
- 34:14Speaker 1: Who gets the table? Wow, wow, wow.
- 34:18Speaker 4: I got to go Marcus, man. I got to go history.
- 34:20Speaker 8: I got to go– Yeah, Marcus is another one of those, man.
- 34:23Speaker 4: I just feel like I could pick his brain for
- 34:25Speaker 4: hours about football. And I have. I mean, I love
- 34:28Speaker 4: Marcus really well.
- 34:29Speaker 8: So fun fact here, boys, before we go, I'm on
- 34:33Speaker 8: a group chat with Marcus, Bruce, Anthony, gosh, like 10
- 34:42Speaker 8: of the– like Ronnie.
- 34:43Speaker 4: God, who else? Who else?
- 34:46Speaker 8: Some of the USC guys, like, we're on this 10
- 34:48Speaker 8: to 15, Carson, like, this 10 to 15. Like, it's all, like,
- 34:51Speaker 8: a lot of Heisman guys and, like, some of the best.
- 34:53Speaker 8: And I'm like, why am I even on this? It's
- 34:55Speaker 8: crazy with some of these guys.
- 34:57Speaker 4: And we just, we talk every week about USC. It's hilarious.
- 35:00Speaker 1: I know, but you're Matt Bleep and Leinart.
- 35:01Speaker 5: I mean, what do you mean, why are you on it?
- 35:03Speaker 8: No, I know, but it's just funny because I look
- 35:05Speaker 8: at these guys like Marcus Ahan, Anthony Munoz, like Ronnie Lott.
- 35:08Speaker 4: Like, are you talking about the greatest to ever do it?
- 35:10Speaker 8: But we have a fun group chat every weekend that
- 35:12Speaker 8: gets fired up, as you can imagine.
- 35:14Speaker 3: All right, last one quickly since you mentioned them. Troy Palamalu,
- 35:17Speaker 3: Ronnie Lott. Who gets the table?
- 35:20Speaker 8: I would say Ronnie Lott only because I played with
- 35:22Speaker 8: Troy for a couple years.
- 35:24Speaker 4: I've known Troy forever. Ronnie, to me, is.
- 35:27Speaker 8: one of the greatest, if not the greatest defensive player
- 35:31Speaker 8: to ever play, probably outside of maybe like Lawrence Taylor.
- 35:33Speaker 8: You had a couple of those guys, but Ronnie Lott is, um,
- 35:36Speaker 8: and again, I, I not just saying this, like he
- 35:38Speaker 8: was a big fixture in our locker room when I
- 35:40Speaker 8: was there, Ronnie was, he is one of the greatest
- 35:43Speaker 8: human beings on this planet, man. Like, and, and I just,
- 35:45Speaker 8: he just, he shows me so much love when I
- 35:48Speaker 8: see him and all that. So, uh, Troy is also
- 35:51Speaker 8: like the nicest human of all time, but Ronnie would
- 35:53Speaker 8: be cool.
- 35:53Speaker 4: Just again, the history, man. I just love the history
- 35:55Speaker 4: of the game.
- 35:56Speaker 3: We love having you around here. I can't have you
- 35:58Speaker 3: on enough. I'd like to do it more. I'd like
- 36:00Speaker 3: to have you on longer, but on the way out here,
- 36:02Speaker 3: promote again what it is you're doing with Abbott.
- 36:04Speaker 1: It's great work.
- 36:05Speaker 8: Yeah, BigTen.org slash Abbott is where you can go. Abbott
- 36:09Speaker 8: and the Big Ten have teamed up with the We
- 36:11Speaker 8: Give Blood competition trying to get the most donations across
- 36:15Speaker 8: all the Big Ten schools. We have a shortage. We
- 36:18Speaker 8: need younger generation to step up. 80,000 people plus have
- 36:22Speaker 8: already donated within this uh, campaign and competition you have
- 36:26Speaker 8: till December 4th is when this all kind of closes.
- 36:29Speaker 8: So still about five or six weeks to donate, give blood.
- 36:32Speaker 8: There's tons of people out there that need it and
- 36:34Speaker 8: it will save lives.
- 36:35Speaker 1: All right.
- 36:35Speaker 4: So appreciate you boys for having me on.
- 36:37Speaker 1: Yup.
- 36:37Speaker 3: Next time we have you on, we'll just play one
- 36:39Speaker 3: table and promote Abbott and that's it.
- 36:41Speaker 1: Okay. That's it. That's all we'll do. Awesome, man. All right.
- 36:44Speaker 1: Thank you, Matt. We appreciate it. Keep up the great work, man.
- 36:47Speaker 4: Appreciate it.
