- Jaba: Hello, everybody. Welcome back to the Scout and the Speculator podcast. This is Will Jarvis, also known as Jabba Cards, joined by my co-host Jeremy Brown of Perfect Game Baseball, more importantly, known as JGB underscore cards underscore. Jaba: Okay, well we're doing the pitchers ⁓ through week three. ⁓ Jeremy's having a little bit of a ⁓ stroke in our shared notes app here, but that's okay. He ⁓ he is promised greatness, and while he messes around with that, I'm just gonna lead with this. I mean, we got ten pitchers on this list. And one, two, three, three of are under four dollars, Wellington Arsena, Sean Paul Linion and Kynor Martinez. I think we can kinda just eliminate those guys right here. You know, I I just think underscore_underscore_: No disrespect to the families. Imagine just getting a Bowman card and you have somebody out in Eastern Mass just absolutely say, Never mind, we're done with you. Wild. Jaba: Yeah. ⁓ Yeah. ⁓ again, no offense, guys. ⁓ Sean Poland, you know, I guess he's a Yankee, so I mean maybe, but ⁓ it's kind of a I don't know. ⁓ but two of our absolute favorite darling boys are on here. We got Tallon Haley, who has come from nineteen down to eight forty one, now to seven eleven. I guess our ⁓ super purchase hasn't quite yet rocked the market. And ⁓ our other sweet prince, Andre Hidalgo. went from eleven at opening to five seventy eight and has rebounded a bit to six forty eight. ⁓ I know that those are obviously two guys we like a lot. What else stands out to you here? Because there's there's some interesting tidbits at the top. underscore_underscore_: I'm I'm glad you asked me. ⁓ I mean obviously Gerandula being the best ⁓ highest sale right now, but that is obviously aided by redemption. ⁓ ten base sales gonna be skewed. ⁓ especially when you only have ten and you're at fifty and go down to seventy one, that means you've had some lower sales to really bring down that average price. it's just Zazweta's your guy, Zazweta's the arm you're chasing. ⁓ good to see Brandon Clark holding steady. I think he's probably one of those names that's gonna sell better on whatnot than it will eBay right now. ⁓ still at a twenty dollar clip, a lefty throwing a hundred and three with a 70-grade slider. ⁓ that could pitch in the big leagues right now. Instead, he'll be going to the AFL. And we all know he's gonna go to the AFL if he touches 103 alongside like Jarlin Susana up to 105 out there. You probably get a topps post because tops is gonna go out and Make their Bowman Chrome like product n re reinvigorated into the hobby world. Lefty throwing 103. Grab your Bowman Chrome hobby boxes now and he's gonna blow up. I we've seen it before, we've seen it too often, so. ⁓ that's a lot of talking. I think really is that three arms are double digits and that's it. Like we knew the release was gonna be bad for arms, but I think this really highlights just Jaba: Yeah. underscore_underscore_: How bad it is, especially when every other arm hasn't cracked a $20 average since release, anyway. ⁓ Argenis Kayama had the combined no-hitter in the playoffs, and that kind of helped move his market back up. But to the point that he's still down for a second week in a row, but he has the fourth highest pitching auto at 748. I promise Talon Haley and Andre Hidalga were still really good buys for. Jaba: Yeah. underscore_underscore_: six and seven dollars each respectively. So I did get a I did get a Andre Hidalgo purple for six dollars and fifty cents, so maybe I don't know what I'm talking about. So Jaba: Nice. yeah. I ⁓ I r I really think it's, you know, five serious names here. You know, Cynthia Zizweta and Clark at the top. ⁓ underscore_underscore_: We're gonna feel. Jaba: You know, again, the Sinche price is high, it's probably 'cause of the redemptions. You can argue about how good he is, but he's definitely in that top tier ⁓ of names. Pretty inarguably. Think Zuzueta's far and away the best. He's down to forty six. I'm buying I think I'm ready to launch into buy mode there. Again, you know, I don't know how much higher I can go. When I see forty six, I th you know, I think of Kendri Churio as being a forty-five dollar auto. And I love Kendri Churio. underscore_underscore_: Mm-hmm. Jaba: but there's no way Zizweta should go below Kendry Churio, and I'm happy to buy him and Churio kind of at that same level. ⁓ like you said, I mean Clark's a legit guy. Obviously he doesn't pitch much, but when he does it's electric and he's just such a social media lightning rod out there at the AFL. Like you said, they're trying to, you know, get people excited. Okay, well here's a guy throwing one ⁓ three from the left side. That's, you know, the easiest layup ever. underscore_underscore_: Mm. Shit. Right. Jaba: You know, we have a couple blues of his and I I've actually been happy to see his blues are now trading higher than the price where we got both of ours at. So I think people are definitely liking Clark. I don't know if it's liking the long term outlook or if it's, you know, just kinda catching on to the idea that he's likely to have that kind of lightning in a bottle social media pump at some point. Doesn't really matter what the reason is, but ⁓ you know, that's that's kinda that. And then, you know, after the underscore_underscore_: No imagine. Jaba: Big three call it. ⁓ you know, Hidalgo and Haley are really I feel comfortable saying that those are your two sleepers and really the only budget buys worth chasing. I mean, Carr you could say, okay, he's a Yankee. Even Linion, you know, he's a Yankee, even though his cards aren't Yankees. But I think Haley and Hidalgo, I mean, they're within sixty cents of each other. underscore_underscore_: Mm-hmm. Jaba: You know, I see them pretty similarly. Hidalgo's younger, more electric, probably more risk. ⁓ obviously both risky, but do you I I mean, i if you could only do Haley or Hidalgo, how would you ⁓ approach that to put you on the Yeah. underscore_underscore_: I'm gonna take Hidalgo out of the two because he's bigger, throws harder, just from a hobby standpoint has more going for him. And obviously that's not to talk down about him, about Haley, because clearly we have him. Jaba: Yeah, good thing good thing we bought Hidalgo super. underscore_underscore_: ⁓ wait a second. but it hasn't surfaced yet, but maybe we will. ⁓ the other like kind of sneaky guy could be the Kayner Martinez down there at like three dollars an auto. Like, he's twenty two in high A, is what it is there. But struck out a hundred and thirty four this year in ninety three innings with a two thirteen average against. So there's definitely things to like there as well. Pitching out in the Cal League, definitely like a Jaba: Hehehe. underscore_underscore_: believe that's a hitter friendly. Ballpark ball ⁓ league. So ⁓ Jaba: To ⁓ to to steal your favorite line here before you can use it. That's the cost of basically not getting guacamole at Chipotle. You can get a Canom Martinez. underscore_underscore_: Yeah. Exactly. Like just don't get guac or don't get double steak and you're good to go. You know what? I mean, even if you get a large chili lime chip at Chipotle, you could say no to that and get a Canar Martinez base auto and just hope it triples and then you can get a whole bowl for free off your profit. So Jaba: We're ⁓ we're both big Chipotle guys. If corporate is listening, ⁓ we would love those gold cards they give to celebrities. We would ⁓ underscore_underscore_: We're only eight minutes in, so I'm gonna bring this up. I was gonna put it I was gonna text it or put it as my story on my personal page. Why? underscore_underscore_: Me too. Next time, now you're gonna find at least two to three of them. Like the ugly eyes of a tomato. Like where the stem breaks off. It's in there all the time. And I it's like a game for me to find how many of them I can find and pick out. But I don't think a lot of people know. I you don't see that on social and it's kind of gross that they're in there. So like where the stem goes into the tomato, just see how many you can find next time and let me know. Cause Jaba: Yeah. No, yeah. What the okay. Yeah.
