Speaker 1: Since seventy three wins seen the chip, What you think
• 0:02
Speaker 1: about playing with me?
• 0:03
Speaker 2: We come to take a strong on the grip cut
• 0:05
Speaker 2: as strong arm, but come this we believe blue, we bleed,
• 0:08
Speaker 2: orange deep New York Nicks.
• 0:10
Speaker 3: We don't sleep the garden fact, lights of bright Cities.
• 0:13
Speaker 2: All we own the night. Maybe track Digital has been
• 0:15
Speaker 2: on my mind this entire NBA Finals run, But since
• 0:19
Speaker 2: seventy three, I don't think they've been close. They're this close,
• 0:25
Speaker 2: one game away from winning the NBA Finals for the
• 0:30
Speaker 2: first times in seventy three, for the first time in
• 0:33
Speaker 2: many of our lifetimes. And I have to talk about
• 0:38
Speaker 2: this solo for but then I'll bring on Ryan and
• 0:41
Speaker 2: and lou Terminello. I have to talk solo about this.
• 0:46
Speaker 2: When I started with The Sports Hour with Alex Garrett
• 0:49
Speaker 2: back in two thousand and nine, I was, uh, you know,
• 0:56
Speaker 2: going through the Yankees title run that year. They literally
• 0:59
Speaker 2: won a couple of weeks after I launched on WQMC
• 1:01
Speaker 2: radio in my freshman year. That was special. Then the
• 1:06
Speaker 2: Giants won an eleven and the eleven twelve year and
• 1:11
Speaker 2: that was our second in about four years, which is
• 1:13
Speaker 2: pretty special as well. But all along since two thousand
• 1:18
Speaker 2: and nine. Who has been the team with the most heartbreak.
• 1:24
Speaker 2: The Mets against the Royals was a tough one, The
• 1:26
Speaker 2: Yanks against the Dodgers a tough one. The Kings against
• 1:29
Speaker 2: the Rangers a tough matchup. But the Knicks have brought
• 1:33
Speaker 2: the city together every postseason run, and finally that unity
• 1:40
Speaker 2: is paying off because now we are all cheering the
• 1:43
Speaker 2: Knicks on as they are just one game away from
• 1:48
Speaker 2: winning it all. One game away. So yeah, I take
• 1:53
Speaker 2: this personal, yeah, ma'am. Yeah, I'm feeling out how the
• 1:56
Speaker 2: city's feeling. A day after o g annan Nobi tipson in.
• 2:00
Speaker 2: Did you hear the call last night on ESPN Radio,
• 2:05
Speaker 2: Tyler Murray, you gotta hear this with Mona McNutt last night.
• 2:09
Speaker 2: My friend Sherry sent me this and I want to
• 2:11
Speaker 2: play for you right now. At one lag a blex
• 2:13
  Speaker 2: media at.
• 2:15
Speaker 1: Point seven left, no timeouts remaining, Anonobe is handed the ball,
• 2:21
Speaker 1: finds Brunton at mid court launches a straight on three
• 2:25
Speaker 1: mister short tip by an Anobi.
• 2:27
Speaker 2: He put it in.
• 2:28
Speaker 3: Ananobe put it in.
• 2:29
Speaker 1: The next take the lead with one point two to go.
• 2:34
Speaker 2: Cartly home court advantages.
• 2:36
Speaker 3: Those fans have the right to stand and be as
• 2:38
Speaker 3: engaged as they'd like on that baseline.
• 2:40
Speaker 1: Bridges on Basel, Hart on Castle, Robinson, I went ban Yamba,
• 2:44
Speaker 1: pastor of the Middle, clot by Castle, drunk by Castle.
• 2:47
Speaker 2: He shot his block by.
• 2:48
Speaker 1: Hard and the New York Knicks just pulled off tuk
• 2:51
Speaker 1: biggest come back within in NBA Finals history, Broke.
• 2:56
Speaker 2: I love Tyler Murray on the call there, and I
• 2:59
Speaker 2: love the team of Monica McNutt and Tyler Murray. But
• 3:04
Speaker 2: this run is making me personally feel like I'm back.
• 3:08
Speaker 2: I'm back on you know, WQMC radio talking about all this.
• 3:11
Speaker 2: I'm back on the Garrett Sports Report talking about all this.
• 3:14
Speaker 2: It's invigorating me to just get back into sports once
• 3:18
Speaker 2: and for all, because this is the kind of stuff
• 3:22
Speaker 2: I like. I almost said, shit, this is the kind
• 3:24
Speaker 2: of shit I like. This playoff energy, this NBA Finals energy,
• 3:29
Speaker 2: this postseason energy. It's what brings New York alive. It's
• 3:34
Speaker 2: what brings New York alive. Now. If it's the Yankees,
• 3:36
Speaker 2: of course, Met fans don't always want the Yanks to win.
• 3:39
Speaker 2: If it's the Mets, maybe Yankee fans do want them
• 3:41
Speaker 2: to win. I don't know. But with this we all
• 3:46
Speaker 2: bleed orange and blue, as a song said earlier, and
• 3:51
Speaker 2: Ogiananobi Ogiana, Noobi is indeed the Hindeki Matsuey of the
• 3:57
Speaker 2: twenty twenty five, twenty six Knicks. Remember how clutch Hideki
• 4:02
Speaker 2: Matsu he was in nine. Do you remember how clutch
• 4:06
Speaker 2: he was in two thousand and nine? He won the
• 4:10
Speaker 2: MVP that year because of his clutch hits against Pedro
• 4:14
Speaker 2: all a Yankee stadium. I mean, he he just had
• 4:16
Speaker 2: those hits like he did in two thousand and three.
• 4:22
Speaker 2: Ananobi's shot last night, that tippin' off the rebound, and look,
• 4:30
Speaker 2: I'm not gonna mess with Willis Reid's Game seven. That
• 4:34
Speaker 2: will be always the top number one in Knick's history.
• 4:38
Speaker 2: But as we've gone forward here, the twenty two point
• 4:41
Speaker 2: comeback against the Cabs, the big comeback against the Hawks,
• 4:44
Speaker 2: the series wide going down from two to one to
• 4:48
Speaker 2: win the series, the sweeps against the Sixers, and the
• 4:52
Speaker 2: freaking Cabs last night, I think takes second place in
• 5:00
Speaker 2: Knicks franchise history. You cannot say Willis Reid's knee game.
• 5:05
Speaker 2: You know, Game seven will ever be top. That is
• 5:11
Speaker 2: Nick's history. Holy grail right there. So this will be second,
• 5:16
Speaker 2: and even no matter how they win, last night's win
• 5:20
Speaker 2: goes down as the biggest game since Willis reads Game
• 5:26
Speaker 2: seven in Knicks franchise history. Do you agree with me?
• 5:30
Speaker 2: Do you agree with me on that? Alex at ALEXANYC
• 5:33
Speaker 2: dot com. Last night's game goes down as the most
• 5:38
Speaker 2: important game in Knicks franchise history since Willis Reid's Game seven,
• 5:45
Speaker 2: which will the Knicks to a title in nineteen seventy three.
• 5:50
Speaker 2: Email me Alex at ALEXTENYC dot com, Alex at ALEXGNYC
• 5:55
Speaker 2: dot com if you grew me on that, but this
• 5:59
Speaker 2: is they gonna be if they do finish this off,
• 6:02
Speaker 2: and I hope they finish it off on Saturday in
• 6:04
Speaker 2: San Antonio. This will be the third championship since I
• 6:08
Speaker 2: started the Sports Hour with Alex Garrett. And for some reason,
• 6:14
Speaker 2: I love the Yankees. O nine was special. Being in
• 6:16
Speaker 2: the Bronx was special for that. Watching them winning in
• 6:19
Speaker 2: person in the suite in two thousand and nine was
• 6:21
  Speaker 2: very special.
• 6:23
  Speaker 1: That was.
• 6:25
Speaker 2: Amazing, and I felt that night twenty eleven twelve, the
• 6:32
Speaker 2: Giant Super Bowl win there against the Patriots, Part two,
• 6:35
Speaker 2: I was a AC with my dad. My phone had died,
• 6:38
Speaker 2: so I really didn't have any connections to anybody till
• 6:40
Speaker 2: that Monday. That was crazy too, but that was cool.
• 6:45
Speaker 2: But this one, this one unifies the entire city and
• 6:50
Speaker 2: this would be the most special championship to come home
• 6:55
Speaker 2: to New York for all of us New Yorkers who
• 6:58
Speaker 2: have gone through. As I mentioned, I'm fast book, the
• 7:01
Speaker 2: paper bag era, the well Mike d'antoni's here, maybe he'll
• 7:07
Speaker 2: get us somewhere. Didn't happen. Isaiah Thomas, Lenny Wilkins, Mike Woodson, Fizzdale, Fisher, Fibbs.
• 7:17
Speaker 2: I can include in that whole brown Back era because
• 7:19
Speaker 2: he got his back to relevance, he got his back
• 7:21
Speaker 2: to the postseason, he got us out of the laughing
• 7:23
Speaker 2: stock phase. But right now there are a lot of
• 7:27
Speaker 2: fans that have just jumped on because everybody else is
• 7:29
Speaker 2: jumping on the The diehards are jumping in, are are
• 7:32
Speaker 2: on this. So the the others that may not have
• 7:36
Speaker 2: gone through all those eras of Knicks basketball don't understand
• 7:41
Speaker 2: how important. They just think, Wow, this is a big
• 7:43
Speaker 2: win for the city. This is a huge thing. That's
• 7:45
Speaker 2: a unifying moment, and it is and it is and
• 7:48
Speaker 2: it definitely is. But but for those who survived the
• 7:54
Speaker 2: paperbag era of Knicks basketball, this one will be for
• 7:58
Speaker 2: them who suffer heartbreak in ninety four and ninety nine.
• 8:02
Speaker 2: This is for them and everybody else just along for
• 8:06
  Speaker 2: the ride.
• 8:06
Speaker 3: As far as I could, I could see this is
• 8:11
Speaker 3: for the real New Yorkers who have been through thick
• 8:14
Speaker 3: and thin with this next team, and.
• 8:21
Speaker 2: I hope they get it done on Saturday night in
• 8:25
Speaker 2: San Antonio. Lock it in, lock it down, and bring
• 8:33
Speaker 2: a parade and the Larry O'Brien Trophy back to New York.
• 8:39
Speaker 2: Five thousand plus days without a championship, we are hungry,
• 8:44
Speaker 2: and of course it will be the Knicks. The one
• 8:48
Speaker 2: team that unifies us, all that brings us together, that
• 8:51
Speaker 2: heals us as a city. It's them. And yes, I know,
• 8:58
Speaker 2: twenty five years ago the Yankees healed the city very
• 9:00
Speaker 2: much so with their World Series run. But this feels different.
• 9:09
Speaker 2: This feels like a moment where all New Yorkers, maybe
• 9:14
Speaker 2: one in the White House, will be celebrating together a
• 9:21
Speaker 2: championship that's been in the making since nineteen seventy three.
• 9:28
Speaker 2: And that's my message at one leg of Alex Media,
