- 0:00Speaker 1: All right.
- 0:01Speaker 2: Now, I have had a couple of people ask me,
- 0:04Speaker 2: carry on, Geek News, are you going to cover this
- 0:06Speaker 2: whole Neil Gamon situation? Oh? Okay, And my answer is
- 0:10Speaker 2: I won't get into it now, I'll let you do it. Well,
- 0:15Speaker 2: it's out there, it's out there, and it's a disturbing read.
- 0:18Speaker 1: And yeah, New York Magazine, I think is the New
- 0:23Speaker 1: York Magazine? Is google it? Neil Gaman controversy. How about that?
- 0:31Speaker 2: It's it's depressing you. If you're a big fan, well a,
- 0:35Speaker 2: you probably already know. But if you don't know, don't
- 0:39Speaker 2: don't just don't look. All right, let's see now I'm
- 0:43Speaker 2: gonna do some spoilers for this next story here. Okay,
- 0:47Speaker 2: it's about Alien Romulus. If you haven't seen Alien Romulus yet,
- 0:51Speaker 2: tune away.
- 0:52Speaker 1: For a few minutes. Okay, I'll go out. Okay. Now.
- 0:55Speaker 2: In the film, the crew encounters an android named Rook
- 1:01Speaker 2: who is aboard the Romulus. He has an allegiance to
- 1:06Speaker 2: the evil Corporation Wayland Utani. Rooke looks exactly like Ash
- 1:12Speaker 2: Yeah played by Ian Holme in the original Alien because
- 1:16Speaker 2: he is the same make and model as Ash and
- 1:18Speaker 2: Holme is dead Holm passed away in twenty twenty.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Well, they used technology with the permission of his widow.
- 1:25Speaker 2: The director and his team recreated Holme's likeness with a
- 1:29Speaker 2: combination of practical effects, visual effects, and onset acting. Right now,
- 1:34Speaker 2: it turns out, and this is when I saw it.
- 1:39Speaker 1: It didn't look right. It just didn't look good.
- 1:42Speaker 2: And Alvarez, yeah, the director, he said he wasn't happy
- 1:45Speaker 2: with how the effect looked either. He says, we just
- 1:47Speaker 2: we ran out of time in post production to get
- 1:49Speaker 2: it right. I wasn't one hundred percent happy with some
- 1:52Speaker 2: of the shots where you could feel a bit more
- 1:56Speaker 2: of the CG intervention. And that was the problem I
- 1:59Speaker 2: had with it, that the CG was so bad, he says.
- 2:01Speaker 2: So for people that react negatively, I don't blame them. Now,
- 2:04Speaker 2: knowing that Alvarez and his team went back to the
- 2:09Speaker 2: shots for the home release and improved them, he explained
- 2:16Speaker 2: to Empire Magazine, he says, we fixed it.
- 2:19Speaker 1: We made it better for the release. Right now.
- 2:20Speaker 2: I convinced the studio we needed to spend a little
- 2:23Speaker 2: money and make sure we give the companies that were
- 2:25Speaker 2: involved in making it the proper time to finish it
- 2:27Speaker 2: and do it right, it's much better now. There isn't
- 2:30Speaker 2: a video comparing the two yet. I'm sure there will
- 2:33Speaker 2: be online. But according to Alvarez, the new effect on
- 2:37Speaker 2: the home release was achieved by leaning more into the
- 2:40Speaker 2: physical side of the creation instead of the digital, which
- 2:46Speaker 2: was the opposite when we saw it in the theaters.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Animatronic puppeteer Seae Mahan actually did this animatronic of Ian
- 2:54Speaker 2: Holme based on a head cast from Lord of the Rings,
- 3:00Speaker 2: the only one in existence, and we did that for
- 3:02Speaker 2: the home release, revert a lot more to the puppet,
- 3:05Speaker 2: and I think it looks way better.
- 3:07Speaker 1: So will you watch and report back?
- 3:10Speaker 2: I will watch it again and report back because I
- 3:13Speaker 2: was not happy with how it looked the first time.
- 3:15Speaker 1: I went, oh, that's a good idea, but it just
- 3:16Speaker 1: looks bad.
- 3:19Speaker 2: We got some casting for Supergirl, the Supergirl movie. We're
- 3:24Speaker 2: adding David Crumholtz and Emily Beacham as Supergirl's parents. So
- 3:29Speaker 2: you can look that up for you if you'd like
- 3:32Speaker 2: more casting. This this Anaconda movie that is going forward.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Yeah, now is this a remake?
- 3:42Speaker 2: I don't know if it's a remake or reboot. Let's
- 3:44Speaker 2: take a look here, but it's Jack Black and Paul Rudd.
- 3:47Speaker 2: They were production is underway and they are in the movie. Well,
- 3:53Speaker 2: they've just now added Tannedaway Newton and Silo's Steve's On,
- 3:59Speaker 2: or as I know him, Bad Ape a joining the
- 4:03Speaker 2: new Anaconda movie. Whether it's a sequel or just a reboot,
- 4:11Speaker 2: none of the stories that I've been able to find
- 4:13Speaker 2: are saying for sure.
- 4:15Speaker 1: But it's just about a big snake. Yeah, so yeah,
- 4:20Speaker 1: Steve's On is really good in Silo.
- 4:22Speaker 2: By the way, it's a reimagining of the nineteen ninety
- 4:25Speaker 2: seven action horror film, so it's a remake. So it's
- 4:29Speaker 2: a remake. Yeah, okay, Yeah, that'sil is pretty good. I
- 4:33Speaker 2: watched the finished season two. Yes, Steve's is really good
- 4:36Speaker 2: in a Bad Ape. He's just playing bad Ape. Really,
- 4:39Speaker 2: it's the same kind.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Of character I and Anaconda I really like. Isn't that
- 4:44Speaker 1: the one that John Boyd gets at? He gets at
- 4:46Speaker 1: he gets that by the Big Snake. Yeah, I root
- 4:48Speaker 1: for the snake in that movie. I'm rooting for the
- 4:51Speaker 1: snake in this movie.
- 4:52Speaker 2: As a matter of fact, except for Paul Rutta. You
- 4:58Speaker 2: can choke on Jack Black, Paul rut Al up and
- 5:02Speaker 2: finally this and this is just for a certain number
- 5:05Speaker 2: of people because I'm low on stories today. Dan Slott,
- 5:11Speaker 2: who's the Eisner winning writer guiding force for Spider Man
- 5:16Speaker 2: for the past fifteen years. Okay, so much influence on
- 5:20Speaker 2: Spider Man that he inspired, that he helped work on
- 5:23Speaker 2: these Spider Verse movies. And he's called in to consult
- 5:26Speaker 2: in the Spider Man movies. You know from Marvel's MCU.
- 5:30Speaker 2: He knows his stuff, he knows his Spider Man. He
- 5:35Speaker 2: is jumping ship to d C. He has been signed.
- 5:41Speaker 2: He has been signed an exclusive contract with Marvel since
- 5:44Speaker 2: the late aughts. He will make his DC debut with
- 5:48Speaker 2: Spider Excuse me, Superman Unlimited, writing the monthly comic that
- 5:52Speaker 2: will be drawn by Rafael Albuquerque. But this is the
- 5:57Speaker 2: first time in the deal. This is a big deal
- 5:59Speaker 2: in the comic industry. Superman Unlimited Number one will be
- 6:03Speaker 2: available at local comic bookstores May twenty first, and he's
- 6:07Speaker 2: also going to apparently be weighing in on some of the.
- 6:10Speaker 1: James Gunn movie decisions.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Dan slot who has written Amazing Spider Man, Fantastic for
- 6:16Speaker 2: Silver Surfer, She Hulk, Avengers, Superior, Spider Man, He's had
- 6:20Speaker 2: influence on all of these characters that have also the
- 6:24Speaker 2: influences bled over into movies and TV shows. So the
- 6:28Speaker 2: fact that he is a jumping ship to go right
- 6:30Speaker 2: for Superman, that's interesting. He says, he's the first and
- 6:34Speaker 2: greatest superhero of all time, and I've been waiting my
- 6:37Speaker 2: whole life to tell stories about him, not just because
- 6:39Speaker 2: of all of his amazing powers.
- 6:41Speaker 1: He has, but because of who he is inside.
- 6:45Speaker 2: If anybody he's a good guy, anybody can make Superman interesting,
- 6:50Speaker 2: it'll be Dan Slot
