- 0:13Speaker 1: Hello, beautiful beans, and welcome to the podcast episode of today.
- 0:18Speaker 1: So this is the first d yfm og episode of
- 0:23Speaker 1: the year, and we are here to hit the ground running.
- 0:27Speaker 1: I have an episode coming out every day for the
- 0:30Speaker 1: next ten days by the weekend, so it'll be like
- 0:33Speaker 1: Monday to Friday this weekend, Monday to Friday next weekend.
- 0:36Speaker 1: To get your shit in order. I want you to
- 0:40Speaker 1: feel like you have your life in order. Now I
- 0:43Speaker 1: say I've said this a thousand times, I'm gonna fucking
- 0:46Speaker 1: say it again. You can do this at any time, anytime.
- 0:50Speaker 1: You can hit that reset button, not just on a Monday,
- 0:54Speaker 1: not just in January. You can do it on a
- 0:56Speaker 1: Wednesday in August. And it doesn't even have to be
- 0:58Speaker 1: in the morning. You can decide to turn things around
- 1:01Speaker 1: and start something new or stop doing something at three
- 1:04Speaker 1: pm at eleven am. Okay. But the reason why I
- 1:09Speaker 1: jump on the New Year's bandwagon is because of this
- 1:13Speaker 1: concept of collective collective effor vescence, if you want to
- 1:17Speaker 1: call it. It's this feeling that you get when more
- 1:21Speaker 1: people are doing the same thing at the same time.
- 1:23Speaker 1: There's like an energy around and I believe it does
- 1:26Speaker 1: make it a little bit more easier. It's kind of
- 1:29Speaker 1: like running, right, If I run alone, I can do it.
- 1:33Speaker 1: If I run in like a group run, a fun run,
- 1:36Speaker 1: a half marathon, it shaves like twenty percent off the
- 1:41Speaker 1: effort just for running around people. The psychological factor of
- 1:45Speaker 1: doing things in people, with people in a group or
- 1:49Speaker 1: alongside at the same time, even if you don't even
- 1:51Speaker 1: know them, even if you're not directly interacting with them,
- 1:55Speaker 1: I think it makes it easier. Is it the be
- 1:57Speaker 1: all end all? Are they doing it for you? Are
- 1:59Speaker 1: you leaning on them? No? But I think that why
- 2:02Speaker 1: not maximize this time of January? Because I know there's
- 2:05Speaker 1: a lot of like life coaches and motivational coaches and
- 2:08Speaker 1: life strategists that are like, you know, this New Year's
- 2:11Speaker 1: Eve is ridiculous. Whatever I disagree, I think take what
- 2:14Speaker 1: you can get. Let's fucking work with any tool that
- 2:18Speaker 1: is coming our way. So if people are going to
- 2:20Speaker 1: be more motivated on in January, use that to your advantage.
- 2:24Speaker 1: But again, like I said, you can also do this
- 2:26Speaker 1: at any fucking time of the year. So for the
- 2:29Speaker 1: next ten days, I want to have a little different
- 2:32Speaker 1: topic every day for ten days. And there's also a
- 2:35Speaker 1: whole bunch of tools that I have that you can
- 2:37Speaker 1: be using to your like to the maximum. Most of
- 2:42Speaker 1: these tools are free. My podcast, I can refer back
- 2:45Speaker 1: to so many other episodes I've got, you know, nearly
- 2:47Speaker 1: four hundred episodes worth of stuff that you can refer
- 2:50Speaker 1: back to free of charge. But I am also going
- 2:53Speaker 1: to encourage you to go ahead and buy my audio book,
- 2:55Speaker 1: which is Thirty Days to Master Your Mindset. Well, the
- 2:58Speaker 1: book is called How to Chase Change, but thirty Days
- 3:01Speaker 1: to Master your Mindset, And there you're going to find
- 3:03Speaker 1: just what I like to consider sensational tools for you
- 3:08Speaker 1: to really create some change. So whether you want to
- 3:10Speaker 1: buy the book, whether you just want to do it
- 3:12Speaker 1: for free, it doesn't matter. You're gonna get heaps of
- 3:13Speaker 1: fucking resources over the next ten days and beyond sense Sense. Now,
- 3:24Speaker 1: for the first episode of today, we are talking about
- 3:30Speaker 1: basically setting yourself up for the month slash year ahead.
- 3:35Speaker 1: But I want you to think there's gonna be some
- 3:37Speaker 1: key things that you're going to put into practice to
- 3:40Speaker 1: really get your head straight. Get your head right, okay,
- 3:44Speaker 1: and I'm not it doesn't have to be one hundred
- 3:46Speaker 1: percent right. We're all a little bit tapped to some degree,
- 3:49Speaker 1: but we're getting it a little bit righter than normal. Okay,
- 3:51Speaker 1: I'm just gonna have a little sip of my coffee,
- 3:53Speaker 1: just enjoy. Hmm. Also, I remember saying that when I
- 3:59Speaker 1: got back from you, I'm now better than everyone else
- 4:01Speaker 1: because I'm on piccolos and I don't drink cappucinas anymore.
- 4:04Speaker 1: That died that Dada and the ass, and I've come
- 4:07Speaker 1: back to the original fat cow cap love it so much.
- 4:11Speaker 1: I'll never abandon you again until I'm in Europe because
- 4:13Speaker 1: I don't like cappuchinas and Europe I prefer piccolos anyway.
- 4:16Speaker 1: So let's now grab a pen and paper. This episode
- 4:20Speaker 1: is not going to go on forever if this is
- 4:22Speaker 1: a short and sweet episode. So I want you to
- 4:23Speaker 1: grab a pen and paper, if you can get either
- 4:27Speaker 1: a word document or a page's document or a little
- 4:30Speaker 1: notebook that you're going to use over the next ten days,
- 4:32Speaker 1: because there's a lot of shit that I want you
- 4:34Speaker 1: jotting down, and I want you to get involved. Okay,
- 4:37Speaker 1: don't just listen passively. I want you to be active
- 4:40Speaker 1: about change in your life. If you want change, You've
- 4:43Speaker 1: come to the fucking right place. The first thing you're
- 4:45Speaker 1: going to do is you're going to write down over
- 4:47Speaker 1: the next month what will you commit to? What are
- 4:53Speaker 1: you going to commit to? And when we're talking about commitments,
- 4:58Speaker 1: less is more until you prove it to yourself. Okay.
- 5:02Speaker 1: I would rather you go small and prove something to yourself,
- 5:06Speaker 1: then go really big but unclear and not believing in
- 5:10Speaker 1: yourself and throwing it out there because you know you've
- 5:12Speaker 1: been telling you know, reach for the stars and dream big,
- 5:14Speaker 1: which I'm all for, but you know, doing it properly,
- 5:18Speaker 1: and then not actually following through and then thinking that
- 5:20Speaker 1: your word weighs nothing. I want your word to weigh
- 5:23Speaker 1: a thousand kilos by the end of the year. So
- 5:26Speaker 1: what are we going to commit to this month that
- 5:28Speaker 1: we're actually going to commit to? Okay? So if that
- 5:33Speaker 1: means that you need to temporarily lower the bar just
- 5:36Speaker 1: to prove that you can fucking follow through and that
- 5:38Speaker 1: you have followed through lower the bar, you are much like,
- 5:43Speaker 1: much more likely to achieve your goal by having steps
- 5:48Speaker 1: to get there instead of having this rung that's super
- 5:51Speaker 1: high and you're jumping, failing, jumping, failing, jumping, failing. That's
- 5:53Speaker 1: why most of us don't ever get to where we
- 5:55Speaker 1: want to go because we are not strategic with how
- 5:58Speaker 1: we set our goals and bigger picture. I think you
- 6:02Speaker 1: probably should be setting your goals much higher than you
- 6:05Speaker 1: give yourself credit for, but on a day to day,
- 6:07Speaker 1: on a month to month basis, when you're not used
- 6:09Speaker 1: to following through with your word and doing what you say,
- 6:13Speaker 1: you need to bring it right down. I don't think
- 6:15Speaker 1: you should be reaching for the big goals until you
- 6:17Speaker 1: can prove to yourself that you do the little things
- 6:19Speaker 1: for yourself, because the big is found in the lidtle. Okay,
- 6:22Speaker 1: So while I'm your number one advocate for you to
- 6:26Speaker 1: do big things, let's work. Let's get the nuts and
- 6:29Speaker 1: bolts down pat then you can go all fucking out.
- 6:34Speaker 1: So what are you committing to over the next thirty
- 6:37Speaker 1: days this month in January? What are you going to
- 6:40Speaker 1: commit to? I want you to pick a couple of
- 6:42Speaker 1: things ideally, and if you want, you can have those
- 6:46Speaker 1: things in different realms. So one can be something with
- 6:49Speaker 1: your career, something with your physical health, something with your
- 6:52Speaker 1: mental health, something with your relationships, and something with your
- 6:56Speaker 1: person like your personal your relationship with yourself, which could
- 6:59Speaker 1: be self care, it could be a hobby, which is
- 7:02Speaker 1: also a form of self care. But think of one
- 7:04Speaker 1: little thing. So I'll give you an example, relationships. I'm
- 7:07Speaker 1: going to commit to speaking to somebody on the phone
- 7:12Speaker 1: X amount of times a week. So for some people
- 7:15Speaker 1: who never make a phone call, who never really connect
- 7:17Speaker 1: even to the people that they miss, you could say
- 7:20Speaker 1: once a week. I've never even done it. I'm just
- 7:22Speaker 1: going to commit to once a week. And for someone
- 7:24Speaker 1: who's like, no, no, I'm open to that, I love it.
- 7:26Speaker 1: It's going to be every day. You pick a number
- 7:29Speaker 1: that's genuinely realistic but that you will commit to and
- 7:31Speaker 1: follow through. That's so relationships. That's an example. The next
- 7:34Speaker 1: one will be you know, something for yourself, self care
- 7:37Speaker 1: or whatever. So I'm going to commit to actually journaling
- 7:41Speaker 1: every single day, even if it's for five minutes, I
- 7:43Speaker 1: don't care. I'm just going to you know, write down journal,
- 7:45Speaker 1: or I'm going to use Alexus's journal, the Brain Journal
- 7:48Speaker 1: and reflect back and you know on my day. Or
- 7:52Speaker 1: I'm going to once a week go and like I'm
- 7:55Speaker 1: going to book into that fucking pottery class and I'm
- 7:57Speaker 1: actually going to do it. Or I'm going to pick
- 7:58Speaker 1: up that guitar that's building dust and I'm going to
- 8:00Speaker 1: be practicing twice a week. But something that's for you,
- 8:04Speaker 1: just for you, no one else, not for income, not
- 8:06Speaker 1: for anything. You're doing something for you. Then, career wise,
- 8:09Speaker 1: what's just one change you'd like to make in your career?
- 8:11Speaker 1: And it doesn't have to be money related. It could
- 8:13Speaker 1: be I would like to have a more enjoyable commute
- 8:16Speaker 1: to work instead of driving, Why don't I do public
- 8:20Speaker 1: transports so that way I can start like reading or
- 8:22Speaker 1: whatever it is. I don't care, but something related to work.
- 8:26Speaker 1: And then you want to do something that's related to
- 8:28Speaker 1: your physical health and your mental health. Now mind you,
- 8:33Speaker 1: I've just bunched. I've just spat out a bunch of categories.
- 8:35Speaker 1: If you're someone that's like Alexis Kunt, you just told
- 8:38Speaker 1: me to lower the rung, and now you're telling me
- 8:40Speaker 1: to do a thousand things, then just pick the one
- 8:41Speaker 1: that's most important and stick to one. So if that
- 8:43Speaker 1: is I'd never do anything for myself, I'm going to
- 8:46Speaker 1: do once a week working on a hobby just for me,
- 8:49Speaker 1: Then do it. But it's going to be commitment. I
- 8:51Speaker 1: want you to write it fucking down. So what are
- 8:53Speaker 1: you committing to less is more? Let's just get the
- 8:56Speaker 1: ball rolling on following through with our word to our selves.
- 9:01Speaker 1: The next thing that I want you to make clear is,
- 9:03Speaker 1: here's a challenge for you. Unless someone is listening to
- 9:07Speaker 1: this podcast episode alongside you, or you listen to it
- 9:11Speaker 1: as friends, because I've got a lot of people that
- 9:13Speaker 1: tell me. Ever, you know, we listen to your podcast
- 9:15Speaker 1: and then we debrief. So unless it's that situation where
- 9:18Speaker 1: you're all in the same pool, I don't want you
- 9:20Speaker 1: going and announcing to people I'm committing this. I'm committing that.
- 9:23Speaker 1: You are making the commitment to yourself, and you're only
- 9:25Speaker 1: allowed to tell other people after the fact after it's
- 9:29Speaker 1: been a month. You know what, a month ago I
- 9:31Speaker 1: said I was going to do this, and I've actually
- 9:33Speaker 1: followed through. It's been a month and I've followed through,
- 9:34Speaker 1: then you can announce it. You are not allowed to
- 9:36Speaker 1: announce it prior unless you are in a group of
- 9:39Speaker 1: people that are actually going on this journey together. Okay,
- 9:42Speaker 1: and there is a reason for that. It has been
- 9:45Speaker 1: shown in I'd love to pull up the study actually
- 9:47Speaker 1: to be honest, but the more you talk to other
- 9:52Speaker 1: people about your goals and what you're going to do.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Prior to beginning, the less likely you are to go
- 9:59Speaker 1: and do that thing. And the reason for that is
- 10:01Speaker 1: you get all the excitement, you get, all the congratulations
- 10:03Speaker 1: you get although oh my god, that's so good, and
- 10:05Speaker 1: you feel really you feel fulfilled already before having done it,
- 10:08Speaker 1: before it's done, and then it comes to the crunch
- 10:10Speaker 1: and then you actually have to do it, and then
- 10:12Speaker 1: you're like, I didn't actually really want to do that.
- 10:14Speaker 1: I'm not actually that motivated. I don't that was I
- 10:16Speaker 1: should have chosen something different. I don't know all of it.
- 10:19Speaker 1: And then you just think, well, fuck, now I've just
- 10:21Speaker 1: told everyone and now I'm not going to do it
- 10:23Speaker 1: because I don't want to. Okay, So you're only going
- 10:25Speaker 1: to tell them after the fact, and it makes you
- 10:26Speaker 1: more likely to want to do it because you want
- 10:28Speaker 1: to share. Now. The next thing that I want you
- 10:30Speaker 1: to write down is what did I love about last
- 10:34Speaker 1: year that I'm committed to bringing into this next month,
- 10:39Speaker 1: if not the whole year. What did I love? What
- 10:41Speaker 1: did I do once or twice that I want to
- 10:43Speaker 1: do way more than once or twice. You know, what
- 10:45Speaker 1: did I do? Maybe I started not living to work,
- 10:49Speaker 1: but working to live, and my life really like was
- 10:52Speaker 1: like I'd get home from work and then the fun
- 10:54Speaker 1: began and maybe I was more present, maybe I had
- 10:56Speaker 1: more activities, maybe whatever it is. I want you to
- 11:00Speaker 1: pick some key things from last year that you started
- 11:03Speaker 1: doing that you think, wow, that I'm really bringing that
- 11:06Speaker 1: into this year. And if you have nothing, then what's
- 11:08Speaker 1: something that inspired you last year that you thought I'd
- 11:12Speaker 1: love to start doing that that you can now bring
- 11:14Speaker 1: into this year being like I'd love to do it.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Let's give it a go, let's actually try it, so
- 11:18Speaker 1: write it down. It can be one thing, it can
- 11:19Speaker 1: be multiple, But what are you going to bring in?
- 11:22Speaker 1: And then second to that, what am I not carrying across?
- 11:26Speaker 1: Dead weight baggage? We're not paying extra luggage here, We're
- 11:31Speaker 1: not doing that. We're going to leave it in the
- 11:33Speaker 1: past on the fucking lost luggage fucking carousel. So what
- 11:37Speaker 1: we're going to do is we're going to look at
- 11:39Speaker 1: what we're not bringing across to this year. So that's
- 11:41Speaker 1: going to be shit like doom scrolling, you know, not
- 11:46Speaker 1: having a set time to wake up in the morning
- 11:49Speaker 1: when I'm frantic and whatever, I'm just giving examples. You
- 11:51Speaker 1: can wake up at whatever time you want, but I'm
- 11:53Speaker 1: just examples from my life. You know, I want to
- 11:56Speaker 1: have I'm not going to be speaking to people on
- 12:01Speaker 1: the phone for longer that I you know, because maybe
- 12:02Speaker 1: you're someone that feels really guilty hanging up on someone
- 12:05Speaker 1: and then you end up being on a phone call
- 12:07Speaker 1: for so much longer and it throws your entire timetable
- 12:09Speaker 1: left the day off because you just you know, I'm
- 12:11Speaker 1: going to be able to like end a call earlier.
- 12:13Speaker 1: And if I don't think I'm going to be able
- 12:15Speaker 1: to end that call, then I'm going to be selective
- 12:16Speaker 1: of when I take a call. Things like that. Okay, So,
- 12:19Speaker 1: like you're where you're backing yourself, where you're protecting your energy,
- 12:22Speaker 1: where you're protecting your space, and all of the above.
- 12:24Speaker 1: So what will I bring in? What's really exciting that
- 12:26Speaker 1: I want to bring across? What won't I be across?
- 12:30Speaker 1: And then the last thing that I want you to
- 12:32Speaker 1: write down, the last thing you're going to focus on
- 12:34Speaker 1: for today's episode is what do you think would be
- 12:37Speaker 1: the most important thing to happen this month that would
- 12:41Speaker 1: make you feel really fulfilled once it happens or if
- 12:45Speaker 1: it were to happen, and I want it to be
- 12:47Speaker 1: something that is within your control completely, because there's many
- 12:52Speaker 1: things that would make us feel really, really great. Let's
- 12:54Speaker 1: say that you're someone who's looking for the perfect partner.
- 12:56Speaker 1: You'd be like, well, I'd love to fall then love
- 12:58Speaker 1: this month, or I'd love to you know, win this thing,
- 13:01Speaker 1: or I'd love So there's many things that you could desire,
- 13:05Speaker 1: but we're not referring to that. We're talking about things
- 13:07Speaker 1: that are within your control with the resources you currently have.
- 13:12Speaker 1: That you think if I actually followed through with this thing,
- 13:15Speaker 1: If I actually did this thing, what would I feel
- 13:20Speaker 1: like at the end of the month. What would it
- 13:22Speaker 1: feel like for me looking back, being like I finally
- 13:25Speaker 1: followed through with that, I finally stopped vaping, I finally
- 13:30Speaker 1: started going for those jogs, I finally started reading a
- 13:34Speaker 1: book instead of doom scrolling. I finally fill in the
- 13:37Speaker 1: blank what would it look like? So I want you
- 13:41Speaker 1: to not only name the thing, because that's number one,
- 13:45Speaker 1: name it, but then I want you to put yourself
- 13:47Speaker 1: in the head space of you at the end of
- 13:50Speaker 1: the month or in a month, because this is now
- 13:53Speaker 1: the middle of the month already, so maybe in a
- 13:55Speaker 1: month's time mid feb. And imagine the feeling of looking
- 14:00Speaker 1: back and you are imagining yourself in your future self shoes,
- 14:05Speaker 1: knowing that that thing has been done, that you did it,
- 14:08Speaker 1: you completed it, you resisted that thing, You overcame that thing,
- 14:12Speaker 1: you finished this thing, you started this thing, you put
- 14:14Speaker 1: yourself out of whatever. What does that feel like? Close
- 14:18Speaker 1: your eyes, picture it, picture it? What does it feel like?
- 14:23Speaker 1: What does it taste like, smell like, sound like? We
- 14:25Speaker 1: get really immerse yourself in that feeling, because when you
- 14:30Speaker 1: feel it, it becomes more realistic. And when something becomes realistic,
- 14:34Speaker 1: you are more likely to go ahead and action that
- 14:36Speaker 1: thing because it is believable to you. Okay, it doesn't
- 14:40Speaker 1: have to be believable to anyone else. And that's why
- 14:41Speaker 1: I encourage you to not talk about this to many people,
- 14:45Speaker 1: because we don't want people fucking with our energy. We
- 14:49Speaker 1: don't fuck with that in twenty twenty five, Okay, we
- 14:52Speaker 1: are going to protect our energy, and that means, if necessary,
- 14:56Speaker 1: we tell less people. I'm not here to explain myself.
- 14:59Speaker 1: I'm here to fuck and do what I need to do,
- 15:01Speaker 1: not wasting my energy explaining myself. So just know what
- 15:06Speaker 1: it feels like, know what that thing is for you
- 15:09Speaker 1: to be really fulfilled in one month's time, what would
- 15:12Speaker 1: need to be done that is one hundred percent within
- 15:13Speaker 1: your control. And then you start to feel really like, Wow,
- 15:17Speaker 1: there's a lot. There's a lot available to me. There's
- 15:20Speaker 1: a lot that I can actually do and I know
- 15:22Speaker 1: what it feels like and it's worth it. And that
- 15:25Speaker 1: is the prize. And then I'm going to throw something
- 15:28Speaker 1: in there as well. If you were to complete all
- 15:31Speaker 1: these things, what's your reward going to be? Give yourself
- 15:33Speaker 1: a little prize, give yourself a reward, whatever the reward is.
- 15:36Speaker 1: Everyone listening here has different means, has different like finances
- 15:40Speaker 1: has different So it's got to be within your means.
- 15:42Speaker 1: It's got to be obviously affordable to you, so some
- 15:44Speaker 1: people can afford more than others. Whatever. But what little
- 15:48Speaker 1: gift or prize or reward are you going to have
- 15:52Speaker 1: if you follow through with this commitment that you make
- 15:54Speaker 1: to yourself in these several areas or in this just
- 15:57Speaker 1: one area. It could be a massage, it could be
- 16:00Speaker 1: something that you know, I'm going to start, whatever it is,
- 16:03Speaker 1: whatever it is, it could be something that's free. It
- 16:05Speaker 1: could be a day trip somewhere that you love where
- 16:08Speaker 1: you just take yourself on a full day date alone.
- 16:11Speaker 1: It could be whatever, okay, but have a reward in mind.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Know what the feeling feels like having done it. Put
